Trail Obstacles
The smell of oak and pine filled my nose, the sky was blue and all you can see was the mountains
and trees. It was my cousin, grandpa, uncle, my uncle s friend, then my dad and I. We were in
the High sierra Mountains in california. We did not expect the trail to be this difficult. We
overcame obstacles that seemed impossible. Once we arrived to the campsite we stayed their for a
few days.That hike made me realize what true success really feels like.
After a good night s rest, we headed off to the trail. We had to take frequent breaks, because the air
was super thin. The trail was rocky, uneven, and slippery. If I were to fall that would be very very

the trail, all of it seemed normal to us. Even though the obstacles were behind us we still needed to

heights, but my uncle helped me get over that phobia. Martin also has fears but has not gotten

building suspense through Martins thoughts and actions, which are all efforts to avoid those

ABSTRACT
A study was conducted in farmers fields of Rai block of Sonepat district, Haryana, India to study
the long term impact of two widely adopted resource conservation technologies (RCT s) namely
bed planting and zero tillage on structural properties of soils of recent alluvial plains of the river
Yamuna. Aggregate mean weight diameter by dry sieving and wet sieving (DS MWD and WS
MWD) under different RCT s were studied to compare structural condition of the soils under
continuous use of these technologies. Other important structural indices such as dispersion ratio (a
measure of ease of dispersion; DR), colloid moisture equivalent ration (a measure of ease of
percolation; CMER), erosion ratio (ER), stability index (SI), soil organic carbon (SOC), clay ratio
(CR) were also studied to monitor the susceptibility of soil to erosion in the study area. Results
revealed that in the surveyed villages under conventional tillage (CT), the mean (of 6 samples)
magnitude of DR and ER were 0.58 and 0.82, respectively, and CMER was 1, which indicated the
erodible nature of these soils. Analysis of data of bed and conventional systems revealed that on
an average, there was about 19.08 % increase in SOC in bed planted system compared to
conventional system. The decrease of DR, ER and CR from 0.66, 0.52 and 4.25 under CT to
0.42, 0.28 and 2.38 under beds indicated reduced eroding tendency of these soils under bed

In preparing to write this analysis, I pondered on how I could exploit each rhetorical analysis within
my advertisement. Understanding these devices enables me to then structure and organize my
arguments around this idea. In order to get started with my analysis I first pondered what is the
thesis, and what is the overall argument the WWF (World Wildlife) organization presents with
having a Bluefin Tuna with the face of a panda. As I kept evaluating the advertisement other
questions came to mind such as who is their target audience and why do they arrange the ad by
presenting it with a close up shot of a Bluefin Tuna with the face of a panda leading a school of
fish. There s also a question at the bottom right corner of the ad to get their point across asking
would you care more if it were a panda .
I found that the key to answering those questions is understanding why the organization chooses
to present the ad the way they does tying it in with their quote. They relate the extinction of the
two animals, making the reader feel guilty because they understand the inverse relationship of
sympathy towards the two animals the world has. Guilt is one of the stronger human emotions,
and the organization realize that, and use it to get people to care. On top of making the reader
