Different Differences Between Western Animation And...
Difference between Western European Animation and Eastern European Animation
By: Nurfarain Binti Sabarudin
Animation has been part of the world for a very long time. Use of animation is becoming more
popular each day. Animation can be used for different purpose such as advertisement and education,
but it s mainly used for entertainment. Lot of short stories and film has been created using animation
. Most successful animation companies usually come from United State. For example Pixar, which
has produce some of the most box office films which include WALL E, Toy Story and Inside Out.
Animation companies from Japan also not left behind in producing high quality animation and
becoming more popular nowadays.
Other than United Stated and Japan, Europe also produces several good quality animations.
Because of the Iron Curtain was formed in World War II, Europe has separated into two areas. The

By following Disney formula, animator reproducing animations focus on film for children, but fail
to imitate the method. The distribution of the television gives the opportunity to the animator to
show their work by making advertisment. Many advertising companies start to urge stable renewal
and some of them even fund their artist s creative work into the field of entertainment.
During World War II, the traditional method which is advertisement no longer supports British
Animation. But British animation still maintain in the industry because of wartime propaganda. In
the 1940s, Halas and Batchelor Animation Studios were founded by John Halas and Joy
Batchelor, who was an English animator and writer. The first British animated feature film; Animal

Character Analysis Of Abner And Sarty Snopes In Barn Burning
Character Analysis of Abner and Sarty Snopes in Barn Burning The short story Barn Burning by
William Faulkner takes place sometime around World War II. It is focused on the Snopes
family, in particular, Abner Snopes, the father. The story starts off in a courtroom of a small
town in which Abner Snopes was being prosecuted for Arson. Abner is described as a terrible
man by his own family. His children and wife witness their father s actions and acts of abuse.
After the trial ends and the Snopes family get out of town to the next house to work at. Sadly, the
cycle continues, and Abner continues to commit arson. Throughout the story, Abner proves he
has no care for those around him and often comes off as a rude person that expresses feelings of
discontent with life. When in the court his young son Sarty is called to the stand to testify
against his father. At this point, as he walks up to the stand he begins to ponder to himself, He
aims for me to lie, he thought, again with that frantic grief and despair. And I will have to do it (
Faulkner 3). At this moment it is inferred Abner does not have good morals or intention and he
encourages bad habits including crime into his family. Although Sarty did not testify in the court
and his father was not proven guilty they still left town to get away from all the townspeople
calling Abner a Barn Burner . Abner is then proven to be aggressive when he strikes two mules in
a rather savage manner with excessive force. It is included

Anthrax Pathogenesis
Anthrax is a deadly disease which can infect millions with the release of one biological weapon
or the melting of decades old permafrost. Anthrax disease is caused by the pathogen Bacillus
Anthracis, which is a bacteria that spreads through the way of spores. Unlike many infectious
diseases Anthrax does not spread from person to person, however, it can be spread widely through
the release and exposure to spores ( AnthraxCommunicable Disease Control and Prevention, San
Francisco Department of Public Health , 2016). The structure of the spores can be seen in figure 2(

The Important Role of the Rivers in Russia Essay
Rivers had been playing an important role in the life of Russian cities since olden times. It
served as the main transport and trade routes, sources of water and food for the population.
Novgorod got a worldwide reputation as a center of medieval trade precisely because of the
Volkhov River, which was an important link in trade route from the Varangians to the Greeks .

Incident Command System Analysis
The utilization of the Incident Command System (ICS) in the United States may at first glance
appear to be an overwhelming, and complicated system of hazard management. On the contrary, for
most responders with military, law enforcement, or fire service background, ICS closely conforms
to the principles of command structure with which they are familiar. Applying strict command
structure, along with standardized response training leads to higher probabilities of successful
outcomes in the face of the most chaotic emergencies. Large scale emergency responses like 9/11
are repeatedly critiqued, often from afar, sometimes correctly, but sometimes unfairly. Responders

Training of individual responders in the use of PPE, hazardous material recognition, shielding
tactics, or establishing an immediate perimeter can often increase survivability and mission
success. The use of two man tactics to offensively isolate a terrorist, instead of waiting for a
larger tactical unit response can be effective in limiting the scope of violent attacks. The use of
technologies including: video surveillance, explosive detection, infrared viewing, thermal
imaging, drones, and robotics are examples of advantageous equipment that when used correctly
can positively alter response ability. The use of cross training of responder disciplines, such as
police receiving fire or ems training will lead to more capabilities and understanding by those
first on scene. Approximately half of individuals that work in law enforcement, fire, rescue,
emergency medical, and related fields hold a second job in a similar emergency response agency
(Newman, and Clark, 2008). Every possible advantage should be examined as first responders
prepare for handling a terrorist situation, especially if the initial immediate response is limited in
scope. First on scene personnel must also survive an attack themselves so that they may be able to

Harvest Table Observation
This last Monday I had the opportunity to volunteer at the Harvest Table in Brookings SD. It was
a wonderful and eye opening experience. Anna and I had planned to do a fun leaf activity where
children could color over leaves on paper or use paint to stamp the leaves on paper. As a teacher, I
had many thoughts run through my mind. As the children started to arrive over to our table, they
were interested to see what we had. They loved the feeling of the foam paint, but quickly lost
interest. The children seemed to be more comfortable at the tables with the activities and art from
the previous times. Many of these children need consistency in their life and these Monday nights
are probably that one event and time that they get that consistency.

Not Protecting the Right of Homosexual Marriage Endangers the Rights of Others
Civil marriage is enjoyed by all people in society; all people that is, excluding the ones that find
love in the form of their own gender. These people are being denied the basic right of engaging in
legally bound matrimony. Laws, such as this one, have been created time and time again, mostly
by ignorant bigots, only to be dissolved when finally seen as immoral and unjust in the eyes of
someone without hatred in their heart. It should be considered a crime in itself to deny access to an
institution that has no one true concrete definition; but instead much diversity, which America has

#8230;nothing is unclean in itself; but unclean for anyone who thinks it unclean (Romans 14:13
13). Also, when Americans were told that they would have freedom of religion, does not that
sanctify freedom from religion as well? People wanting to engage in same sex marriage are not
asking for all religions to accept their vows. They ask merely for tolerance and the ability to recite
them so that they mean something, legally. They ask for simple civil equality in the pursuit of
happiness (Jefferson 200) among themselves, the United States citizens.
A dispute that frequently appears in court over same sex marriage is the question of what marriage
is in it s self. Marriages exist in many forms that cannot fit into a universal mold. There are
relationships consisting of one man and numerous women called polygamy. Relationships with
one woman and many men called polyandry (Halsall 1). Some are age dissonant with a full grown

The Heroism Of The Valor Games Midwest
The Contest that was years in the making.
Unimaginable pain ran thru my hand, a few seconds later I passed out. I had been shot thru my
left wrist while on patrol around Kandahar Afghanistan in August 2011. This event would wind
up taking many things from me. The hardest trial I would endure was to regain my range of
motion and ability to lift weights. Weight lifting is one of the few sports that I love to do and
have done since I was a child. It took almost 2 years of physical therapy and another 2 years of

environment. I was surrounded by wounded warriors from all different wars and I was here to
compete against them. It was surreal to say the least. I was completely over whelmed with
emotion and fear all at the same time. I had a little boo boo on the wrist and some of these heroes
were missing limbs, or scared, would they accept me as one of their own or would I be an outcast.
Only time would tell.
The contest would last 3 days. 3 days, 3 different events, 3 locations around Chicago. I had been
training for months to compete. I would participate in the Shot Put, Archery and Powerlifting
(Bench Press). 1st day I competed in the Shot Put. There was a lot of confusion on where
everyone would go to and participate in their event as it was the first day and a lot of us
newbies. I finally found where I was supposed to be for Shot Put. I was nervous, a lot of people
were there all decked out in their gear to compete, and here I was dressed like a redneck with
cargo shorts, a t shirt and old tennis shoes. The competition began, grass wet from the morning
dew and rain from the previous night, and I was first. This is not what I wanted. Leading the pack
is never a good place to start; you have no idea how hard you must try to beat the competition. It is

Should the U.S. build a National Missile Defense System?
What if free people could live secure in the knowledge that their security didn t depend upon the
threat of instant U.S. retaliation to deter an enemy attack?
Ronald Reagan; 1983
In his speech of March 23, 1983, President Reagan presented his vision of a future where a Nation
s security did not rest upon the threat of nuclear retaliation, but on the ability to protect and defend
against such attacks. The Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) research program was designed to tell
whether, and how, advanced defense technologies could contribute to the feasibility of this vision.

trajectory path, giving the BMC2 the earliest trajectory estimate.
The third element is called the In flight Interceptor Communications System. This is the

of these stations would be created. The next part, X band/Ground Based Radar, performs tracking,
discrimination, and kill assessments of incoming missiles, providing real time continuous tracking

It has been said that the Missile Defense System is like shooting a bullet down with a bullet This
leads one to believe that it cannot be done. If you can imagine a gun firing a bullet out of it

Conflict management assumes that conflict is a constant feature of group life. The idea is to keep it
within boundaries, not to eliminate it. Conflict resolution sees conflict as an interruption of normal
life.ii The idea is to find a solution usually a compromise as quickly as possible. Conflict cannot be
avoided, yet how religious leaders speak about and react to the conflict will frame how the
community handles conflict that arises. The stories and teachings of the Bible assume that conflict
and change are a natural and normal part of individual and community life.iii As leaders, we can be
the voice that highlights overlooked insights and methods while acknowledging and affirming the
emotions in the conversation and what each person has at stake in the decision making. People
cause conflict. We can either further the conflict or squander it with our actions.
The conflict that is dealt with, discussed, managed, and resolved can be good. This kind of conflict
provides an opportunity for growth and creative change. On the other hand, the conflict that is left

Analysis Of Tim Willis s The At T Summer Bridge
When I first arrived to the AT T Summer Bridge, one of the first people I meet was Tim Willis.
He was heaver involved the project aspect of the camp, but still present in that time. The more I
talked to him the more interesting his experiences were. He then invited me to check out the
Sooner off Road team, and joined the team. Tim is in his senior year of school and is the person
with a lot of experience in the Mechanical Engineeringfield before graduation. His interest was
more through tinkering with things. From a young he found it fun to design, build, and test
things in his free time. During this time, he joined the Boys Scouts of America and became an

stream as a final project. I was told by him it was very challenging, but after that he finds a
challenge and tackles it head on. However, the greatest challenge he had to tackle was in 2011.
During that year Tim was a junior in high school, his house was hit by a tornado.
Everything I owned was gone. The only thing I had were the clothes on my back. This thought me

Modern Day Relevance of Sinclair s The Jungle Essay
The Jungle was first published in 1906. Contemporary critics disagree about whether or not the
novel has any relevance for modern readers. What do YOU think?
I believe this novel has somewhat of a relevance for modern readers in today s society. In the
world of economic competition that we live in today, many thrive and many are left to dig through
trash cans. It has been a constant struggle throughout the modern history of society. One widely
prescribed example of this struggle is Upton Sinclair s groundbreaking novel, The Jungle. The
Jungle takes the reader along on a journey with a group of recent Lithuanian immigrants to

The American Dream portrays the idea that if a man is lazy, he might not do so well, but if a man
wants to work and educate himself and try to create a fortune, there is nothing standing in his way.
Some believe that Capitalism is the cause for much of the poverty in the nation today, but any
hardcore capitalist will tell you that capitalism inherited poverty, and far from being a cause of
poverty, it is the only solution.
The symbols of socialism and capitalism are present right from
the start in this story. Sinclair first depicts the Lithuanian event with many of the same things and
the partygoers with many of the same values (i.e. getting drunk, dancing) as we might see today
to give the reader a sense of identity with the Lithuanians. He is beginning to get the reader to
sympathize with these people. The grand time they are having is all part of traditions that these
people have brought with them from their homeland. The people pitch in together to pay,
everyone has their fill of everything, and strangers are brought in and welcomed. This is a strong
symbol of socialism, where everyone is considered an equal. However, he mentions that
sometimes, the barkeeps rip off the organizers of such parties by giving them poorer quality
alcohol or overestimating the amount of alcohol consumed by the guests. This is a show of the
swindling that Sinclair is characteristic of the every man for himself idea of capitalism. Some

Danger Signals
As they mature, dendritic cells leave the peripheral tissues and migrate to the lymph nodes and
other lymphatic organs. In the paracortex of lymph node, a dendritic cell interacts with
lymphocytes, such as T cells presenting antigens for further processing by the adaptive immune
system.
4.1.1.2PAMP, Danger, Safe and InflammationSignals
The Danger Model holds that the maturation of dendritic cells is controlled by signaling molecules
named Pathogen Associated Molecular Pattern (PAMP), danger, safe and inflammation signals
found in the surrounding tissue. Tissues experiencing stress or damage emit danger signals while
healthy, unstressed tissues emit safe signals. Some molecular patterns commonly found along with
bacteria and other pathogens also act as danger signals.
Sufficient stimulus by danger signals causes dendritic cells to become fully mature. This causes
them to express signaling molecules that indicate the antigens they present were found in a

Saigo Takamori Biography
Saigo Takamori was born in Kagoshima, Satsuma s capital on January 23, 1828. He was the
eldest child of 7 children with 3 brothers and 3 sisters in an extremely poor and bankrupt Satsuma
samurai family. At the age of six, Saigo started at the local goju (samurai elementary school). He
then earned his first wakizashi (short sword). Saigo began working in the local bureaucracy as
an agricultural adviser 3 years after he graduated from school. Takamori Saigos family arranged
a marriage for him in 1852 with a 23 year old Ijuin Suga but not long after they got married they
divorced. Soon after the wedding both of Saigo s parents sadly died as close as two months
together. Being the oldest in the family, saigo was incharge of a family of twelve... Show more

a monk Gessho convinced him to live and continue his political work to honor Nariakira s memory

escape and together ran away to Kagoshima. Insted of facing arrest on November 15, 1858,
Saigo and Gessho jumped from a skiff (boat) into Kagoshima Bay. The crew on the boat heard
the splash when they jumped, and then pulled them from the water. Saigo survived but sadly
Gessho did not. Saigo was still being hunted for arrest so he went into a three year internal exile
on the small island of Amami Oshima. He changed his name to Saigo Sansuke and the domain
government declared him officially dead. By 1861, Saigo was well settled into the local
community. Some children had annoyed him into becoming their teacher, and the kind hearted
giant obeyed. Whitle he was there, he also married a local woman, Aigana, and became a father.
Suddenly, in February of 1862, Saigo was called back to Satsuma. He cautiously left the island, his
new family, and friends. Despite having a bumpy relationship with the new daimyo of Satsuma,

The Vibrant and Unpredictable Era of the Gilded Age
The Gilded Age was one of the most vibrant and unpredictable eras in the history of America. It
brought about a new wave of industrial and economic opportunities that allowed some to build
massive businesses and fortunes, while other lower and middle class citizens struggled to survive.
Some would go as far to say it created a war between the classes across American societies. Giants
of industry, such as Andrew Carnegieand John D. Rockefeller, revolutionized how big business
led to the rise of corporate America, but also how it leveled competition in the free market. The
Gilded Age offered America rapid economic growth and new technological products that created
an economical boom. Yet, these advancements were created at the costs of exploiting industrial
workers and farmers working long hours in dangerous conditions for low pay and the American
people sought political and social reforms in an effort to rebalance the scale of power in the United
States. During the Gilded Age, the American economy had shifted from a nation of small farmers
and craftsmen to an economy transformed by railroads and telephone lines that stretched from coast
to coast. Confronted by new models of economics and politics, unforeseen struggles caused farmers
and laborers to fight for survival while emerging industrialists celebrated new wealth.
This period of transition left much of the population without a voice. The wealthy seemed to be
running the country without any advice from lower

World Wide Market Essay
Few causes can unite agriculture corporations, labour unions, and industrial lobbies, but anti
globalization is one of them. Economic globalization is the process of creating one world wide
market through freer trade, flow of labour, and flow of capital. It is a phenomenon inseparable from
today economy, and is a trend that will continue for the foreseeable future. There is much discussion
in the academic community about the political ramifications of economic globalization. However, I
will be solely discussing the economic aspects of globalization and how it effects the prosperity and
living standards of people around the world. Though the current international economy faces many
challenges, the idea of trade liberalization is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just as it makes little sense to establish tariffs between Toronto and Hamilton, it is unreasonable to
presume that dividing the world economy in a similar manner would be beneficial.2 Moreover,
larger markets foster competition as firms face additional rivals. Without their previous protections,
producers must innovate their way to succeeding in the market.3 Globalization can only advance
the world economy by improving efficiency and driving innovation, while self sufficiency and
isolation only create limits to economic growth. Globalization created many benefits to the world
economy. The world s most advanced economies owe much of their previous growth to the Bretton
Woods system a series of international institutions that fostered free tradeand free flow of capital.
The per capital GDP in Western Europe doubled in sixteen years.4 Japan, the greatest success
under this world order, experienced an eight fold growth of its economy in only 25 years.5 As the
second wave of globalization came about in the 1970s, successes similar came about in the years
after. Economies in East Asia opened themselves to international tradeand foreign capital. These
countries soared by using their comparative advantage in manufacturing to create successful export
oriented economies. From 1965 to 1999, the per capita income of South Koreans and Taiwanese
grew nine fold.6 These countries went from being poor countries to becoming some of the most

The Virginian, by Owen Wister
The Virginian
The cowboy hero, The Virginian, as portrayed in Owen Wister s novel was the first of his kind
and today is known as the stereotypical mythic cowboy figure which our view of the western
frontier are based from. The Virginian was the first full length western novel apart from the short
dime novels which marked the final stage in the evolution of the cowboy hero to a national icon.
The Virginian was published in 1902 and at that time was wildly popular because of the
settlement of the west. The story of the cowboy who had the skill and courage to take control of
the untamed frontier enthralled people. The cowboy hero had a few distinguished qualities, he was
a self appointed vigilante, he had a very strict moral code, he ... Show more content on

The man had thrown something, which turned out to be a bottle. (66). This little exchange
following the stage coach incident with Molly was an example of the intolerance the Virginian
had for the mistreatment of women and he stood by his moral code and saved her from any
further danger. Finally the western hero s wit and exceptional skills of perception really
brought the most depth and character to the mythic cowboy hero. The wit of a cowboy and his
capacity to understand an audience is commonly the point of a challenge as we see in The
Virginian. Once again I had heard applied to the Virginian that epithet which Steve so freely
used. The same words, identical to the letter. But this time they had produced a pistol. When
you call me that, SMILE! So I perceived a new example of the old truth, that the letter means
nothing until the spirit gives it life. (21). The Virginian is putting Trampas in his place with the
phrase, When you call me that, smile! he orders the action and reins his enemies with his speech
as greatly as he does with his physical actions. His speech is held in reserve for only the
moments he needs to use it, much like his other abilities. The western hero rarely uses his gun or
language as a weapon, but when he does it is powerful, precise and effective. Typically a cowboy is
a man of little words but when he does talk he has a way of getting right down

Sonny s Blues Analysis Essay
It s repulsive to think you have to suffer that much (Baldwin 132). Many would argue that in life,
pain outweighs pleasure. Freud contends that although we are unable to reconcile with the truth
because it frightens us, each and every one of us has an unconscious desire to die. Death, according
to Freud, is the ultimate escape from the sufferings and hardships which define humanlife and
reality. In Sonny s Blues, James Baldwin confronts this dark truth about human nature in his
character, Sonny. Sonny s suffering becomes so unbearable that he refuses to accept it as an
inevitable condition of the human experience; he refuses to take it : But nobody just takes it,
Sonny cried, That s what I m telling you! Everybody tries not to (Baldwin 133). Rather than
directly embrace death, Sonny seeks relief and control in other, alternative forms. At first, Sonny...

The more one becomes dependent on a drug like heroin, the more control one relinquishes to the
drug itself. Eventually, Sonny is no longer in control, but rather the heroin and the people who
provide it. This becomes a gateway for even more suffering and pain. Luckily for Sonny, he has
found an alternative to this downward spiraling phenomena in music. But the man who creates the
music is hearing something else, is dealing with the roar rising from the void and imposing order
on it as it hits the air (Baldwin 137). Through his piano, Sonny is able to grasp the chaos within
and impose an empirical order on it by translating it into musical notes. Sonny s escape into music
then becomes the conscious representation of the unconscious death instinct. By imposing order,
Sonny is decreasing his amount of suffering, and therefore moving towards peace and rest. The
words of Sonny s brother, upon hearing his jazz, are a testament to the power of music to transport
us from the hardships of everyday

Racial Diversity And Diversity
Diversity is permanently entrenched in American culture and with a better understanding of
other cultures people can come to a place of collaboration and cooperation with one another.
Looking back on what all I have learned in this course, the most important realization I had was
just how white washed the scientific community really is. When civil rights issues were in full
swing, there was a myriad of white researchers who were attempting to prove the inferiority of
other races especially African Americans. Paper after paper delineating all of the physical
differences and potential mental differences between African Americans and Caucasians simply
to bolster their own inaccurate sense of superiority reveals the darker side of research and
scientific exploration (Guthrie, 2004). Several of the issues we discussed in class were ones I
was at least somewhat aware of and had been informed about in some sense or another. One of
the surprising pieces of information was the health disparity between Caucasians and minorities.
Logically speaking this disparity makes sense since when there is such a wide wage gap between
these two groups one could assume this would have an effect on the health of those in question as
well. While I was aware of the social construction of gender, I was not aware of all of the various
types of gender and gender expression that exists in other cultures and societies. For instance, the
term two spirited in some Native American tribes refers to people

LSD In The Mouse Party
The Mouse Party interactive experiment, released by The University of Utah, was quite an
interesting and bizarre way to learn how drugs affect the brain. My prior knowledge on this subject
matter was rather small, therefore my interest in this experiment was elevated. I chose to discuss
three drugs that interested me the most in this reflection. LSD was the first drug that struck my
curiosity when learning about the compound components to. Thus to no surprise, the rat that was
on it was picked first. LSD relies almost completely on the serotonin neurons in the brainby
rearranging and binding them together to create array of effects on the body. LSD is known for the
way it reacts to receptor s in a variety different ways, making the hallucinatory effects... Show more

Cocaine works by temporarily blocking dopamine transporters in the brain, leaving the synaptic
cleft built up with excess dopamine, causing the cell to get overstimulated. This effects the reward
center of the brain, making the user feel a sensation of positive feelings for a short amount of time,
therefore making it highly addictive. Moving onto methamphetamine (meth), in my opinion, by far
the worst drug out off all the others in this experiment. Meth is introduced to the body through
inhalation or injection, causing the dopamine transporters in the brain to start working in reverse.
Due to this, dopamine floods the synapse causing the body to have intense sensations of happiness
and pleasure for a short period of time. A result in using this, will deplete your dopamine levels
causing a dependency on the drug to feel happiness or pleasure. The information that was presented
to me over the course of the mouse party interactive experiment, had been very beneficial to my
understanding of how drugs effect the brain. Everything in this experiment correlated to what we

The Caste System And Hinduism
The caste system and Hinduism have been heavily intertwined since the beginning of Hinduism in
1500 BCE with the Vedic period (Molloy, 80). So much so, that even after hundreds of years the
very same structure persisted into the Upanishadic period of Hinduism. The system was based on
four castes (varna): The priest (brahmin), the warrior (kshatriya, rajanya), the merchant (vaishya),
and the peasant (shudra). The untouchables (dalits) were ostracized from the caste system, as they
are considered too impure to partake in the social hierarchy of the higher castes. Two prominent
figures tried to help the Dalits at different points in history: Mahatma Gandhi and B.R. Ambedkar.

Even further dividing the castes is the concept of varnasramadharma (Jones, 2329). With this
system, the four varnas have ashrama tied to them, specific duties to complete across the four
defined stages of life (Molloy, 89). This model was developed specifically looking at the ancient
ideal life of the highest social caste, the brahmin. This is a prime example of how structured
Hindu society is around the caste system, and how dependant they are on the ancient teachings
of the religion. The stages of life are linear, and begin at the age of 8 with the Student stage.
During this stage of life, the person focuses on building a spiritual basis for their life through
studying religious texts. At age 20 they enter the householder stage. They typically get married
through an arranged marriage from the parents, and fulfill their societal duty of having children.
Once their children have grown up and have kids of their own, the person may enter the retiree
stage. Here is where they return somewhat to the religious focus of their life much like when they
were in the student stage. Finally is the optional stage of renunciate. During this stage the person
becomes akin to a monk, they wear orange robes, participate once again in celibacy, and travel to
gain further spiritual insight to hasten their achievement of moksha (Molloy, 89 90 and Jones, 2329
2330). However, there is one group that is exempt from the ashrama and varna

All I Know About Manufacturing I Learned In Joe s Garage...
A book is portable knowledge. Such is the case of a book by William B. Miller and Vicki L.
Schenk titled, All I Need to Know about Manufacturing I Learned in Joe s Garage. Published by
Bayrock Press in 2012, this book has a short, easy to read style that helps the reader understand
and apply principles of world class manufacturing. In this book report, I will focus on story
description and literary elements, analysis, and evaluation of the story from a student s
perspective. First of all, the setting of the story takes place in the garage and backyard area of
Joe s house. Joe is a company colleague of Sandy, the protagonist of the story, who gives a first
person perspective of Joe s weekend shelf production project. Another major character is Ralph. He
is Sandy s neighbor and a worker from a different company. The mood of the story is serious, but
down to earth, since its tone is conversation rather than instructional. It follows that on the day...

By giving a plot summary, I focus on Sandy s point of view, regarding Joe s Saturday shelf

thoughts and actions of Joe, Ralph, and other project volunteers. Nevertheless, the book s simplicity
allows the reader to understand the workflow of Joe s project better. This creates a thoughtful, but
conversational tone that complements the story s overall mood. Since I find the book a useful,
educational resource for manufacturing engineering students and professionals, I would suggest it
to other readers in my field. The book offers a worthwhile reading experience that teaches many
important key concepts in world class manufacturing. As a result, readers gain much knowledge, as
they learn how to design and implement similar

Cause And Effect Essay On Drivers Driving
Automobile accidents are a leading cause of death in the United States today. A high percentage
of these accidents are caused by elderly drivers who are not fit to drive. Health issues, lack of
knowledge of new driving laws, or the development of bad driving habits are some factors that
contribute to this issue. However, not all older drivers are dangerous behind the wheel. Actually,
many are safer drivers than their younger counterparts. They are more cautious, adapt to weather
conditions better, and tend to be less distracted behind the wheel. But the government should not
ignore the elderly drivers who have killed others while behind the wheel due to age related
issues. Licensed drivers over the age of 65 should be required to retake their driving test every
year due to health issues that come with age, updated driving laws, and bad driving habits that
develop over time. Health issues that come with age can heavily affect a driver s ability to
control an automobile safely. Dementia, strokes, and impaired vision are just a few examples of
many health issues that cause some senior drivers to be unfit to drive. Dementia affects its
victims by severely decreasing thinking skills and causing memory loss. When a stroke occurs,
blood flow is cut off from the brain, which eliminates the driver s ability to control their vehicle.
The chance of a stroke increases tremendously with age. From a decrease in depth perception,
blurry vision, and cataracts; impaired vision can come in

Cinema of Attractions vs Narrative Cinema
This essay will discuss both the Cinema of Attractions and Narrative Cinema and their origins in
order to better understand the differences found between them in regards to the criteria to follow.
This essay will highlight the role that the spectator plays, and the temporality that both the Cinema
of Attractions and NarrativeCinema exhibit.
Tom Gunning proposed the Continuity Model in order to better understand the beginning of film
and the making of film. Gunning proposes the following assumptions: Firstly, the evolutionary
assumption, in which film is considered to have developed linearly across time as more
development occurs. Secondly, the cinematic assumption theorises that film only truly came to

MГ©liГЁs was one of the first directors to progress cinematic technology, which paved the way for
narratives as style of film (Leveridge, 2012: 98).
Cinema after 1906, according to Gunning, pushed towards the structure of linear narrative, and
away from the immediacy of the spectacular image (Strauven, 1999: 387).
Paradigms and their relation to the Spectator
The Cinema of Attractions is based on an exhibitionist paradigm (Gunning, 2004: 44), where it
seeks to knowingly addressing the spectator and provide its spectator with a series of views or
selective information (Strauven, 1999: 49). The cinema of attractions existed primarily between the
years 1895 and 1906 (Strauven, 1999: 38).
Cinema of Attractions is concerned with the ability to display. Attractions wanted to show the here
and now , interacting with its spectator with the aim of satisfying the audience s curiosity quickly
(Gunning, 2004: 44). It displays current events, scenes form everyday life, composed scenes,
vaudeville performances and also camera tricks (as pioneered by George MГ©liГЁs). Cinema of
Attractions aims to astonish its audience (Strauven, 1999: 50). through displaying, rather than
amusing its audience through narrative content. This is seen in films such as G. MГ©liГЁs L

How Henrietta s Cells Were Recovered, And Stored
I begin writing this essay about Henrietta Lacks by discussing option number three outlined in

officially introduced to Henrietta as Loretta Pleasant. Henrietta, or also known as Loretta, grew up
with eight other siblings, and an abusive father. (Biogrophy.com) Henrietta spent most of her youth
living with her grandfather and future husband. During this time in history, Henrietta along with
other African Americans, were subjected to segregation. Her life was far from easy, she grew up as
many African Americanchildren did during those times, working in the tobacco fields. It seems
to me that this woman had a tremendously hard life. She endured: her mother s death, being
divided from her family, segregation, child labor working in the tobacco fields, a philandering
husband, and cancer to name just a few things. I honestly cannot begin to imagine this lifestyle
much less cancer. What stands out to me about her is that I portray her to be this strong, resilient
woman. I say this because she refuses treatment for her STDs, goes on sleeping with her husband
bearing him children , and most of all, she was a God fearing woman. I can only begin to imagine
during this time in history being a woman, much less an African American woman, had its struggles

mind consists of many different malfunctions and confusions. In the next six lines the speaker
changes it up some, it seems like her frusturation is increasing. The speaker tells the readers to

part means, it seems to be comparing her to a cash register, but I don t think I understand that if
she is a secretary. The next line is composed of sounds again Zing. Tinkle. (15) This again could
be sounds that she repeatedly hears over and over in her head. The next line the speaker says
My navel is a reject button. (15) This can mean that in her job she constantly has to reject people,

interpretation of this sentence is that, she is repeatedly saying issue canceled. I don t seem to have
a good grasp on what these few sentences mean. The last few lines in the poem are sentience that

Egocentric Perspective Analysis
Many People throughout their lives never try to understand or change how they see the world.
Although this was true for me, I made a change to try and see others viewpoints. It was easily
one of the most difficult introspective change I have ever done, mostly because I only saw things
as black and white. This was probably due to my inexperience of others/ignorance and because I
was too stubborn to believe that anyone other than me was right. But it wasn t these factors or
thoughts alone that determined how I was, or am to be. The other factors were simply me being
kind of sheltered and not knowing about others situations. The main factors that led me to
overcome these obstacles of egocentric thinking was due to my parents, sports, and world... Show

Sports were always a way for me to escape reality and go into something better, and really have
fun. Although there is always one year where I was getting stressed out more about making
varsity. But as I went and did more and more sports I overcame this stress because of all the
friends I have made through these sports. Now although sports are great, there was a greater
lesson I learned because of sports. Remember me telling you about making friends from sports,
well those friends would tell me about their home life, or difficulties they had. The stuff they
told me about their lives was incomprehensible to me, mainly their father/family problems
(arrests or deaths). After hearing these situations I realized my life was a good one, I had a
good family, and a house to live in. But the effect their life stories had on me was profound, I
realized everyone s situations are different, and I realized I should try to understand others more
and not judge them on outside appearances. Plus I made some of my greatest friends doing these
sports, who of which would push me to become a better person and really understand others and
try to become a friend to anyone. But although I try to become a friend to all, it is easier said than
done, mostly because I m human. So now because of sports I have tried to judge others less and
listen to them and get to know

An Error Based Data Acquisition System Used For Carbon...
An Error Residual Generator for Fault Detection and Isolation in a Data Acquisition System Used
For Carbon Mono Oxide Nitrogen Oxide Monitoring
Abstract clean air is a basic necessity for all human beings living on earth, yet about 80% of world s
population breathes air that has pollutants which exceed the World Health Organization s
recommended level. Environmental air pollution has significant influence on the concentration of
constituents in the atmosphere leading to effects like global warming and acid rains. To avoid such
adverse imbalances in nature, an air pollution measuring system is of utmost importance. This paper
presents fault detection and isolative model implemented in a novel fault tolerant microcontroller
based data acquisition system design for air pollutant concentration measurement in industrial
facilities in Nigeria. A supervisory control unit was incorporated in the data acquisition system
design in an attempt at robust control. The model utilizes weighted standard deviation /data
variance method to detect anomalies and correlation in measured data, with a view to data
intelligence elicitation, an error residual generator was designed to handle fault isolation and
accommodation. The overall system implements corrective procedures in the event of a fault or
failure with appropriate indicators showing in process operation. Microcontrollers, gas sensors,

The First Epistle Of Peter
The First Epistle of Peter The book of First Peter is one that is more prevalent in today s society.
It is much more than just a book; it is an Epistle. Peter is writing a letter to God s people to offer
them hope during their time of sorrow. Since Peter can relate to Jesus and his calling to his people,
he is able to sincerely offer them the comfort and peace that can only be found in Christ. Peter
conveys to them that even though they may be suffering, it is imperative that they put their trust in
The Living Hope: Jesus. Peter s message is full of wisdom and encouragement for God s people to
trust in Christ and put their life in His hands. The epistle of Peter was written by a man by the
name of Simon Peter. Peter was born in Bethsaida, on the Sea of Galilee. Peter was a fisherman
by trade and so was his brother John, who was also a disciple of Christ. Peter was the disciple
that Jesus confided in and talked to first (Fletcher). He was one that Jesus could depend on most
of the time. However, Peter is most notably known for his denial of Jesus three times. In Matthew
26:34, Jesus uttered, I tell you the truth, Peter this very night, before the rooster crows, you will
deny three times that you even know me (NLT). Even though Peter was the last disciple that one
would ever expect to deny Jesus, he denies Jesus three times that night just as Christ predicted. The
story goes on and Jesus symbolically paints us a picture of Peter s forgiveness by asking Peter
three times

Compare And Contrast The Lottery By Shirley Jackson
Following the crowd can have disastrous consequences is something both first they came by
Martin Niemoller and The lottery by Shirley Jackson have in common. But for different reasons.
Both stories are different but are also the same. Both stories share the same theme but for different
reasons. So these two stories have a lot in common but somethings that are different, so in this
essay I will talk about how they are the same and also different.
Some ways that The Lottery and First they came are the same is that they both share the same
theme. For example, they both share the theme that they both have disastrous consequences
from following the crowd. For instance, in the lottery Tessie follows the crowd by participating
in the lottery with everyone else. And in First they came martin followed the crowd by not
speaking up. The two characters not speaking up led to their death. Which is something both
stories had in common. Another way that you can compare both stories is that both of the
characters didn t stand up for what s right when they should have. For instance, in the poem First
they came in lines 1, 3, and 4 it says and I did not speak out so this means he did not speak out
for other people. But when he got called he expected someone to speak out instead. In the story
The Lottery Tessie did not speak out about how the bad The Lottery was. For example, the entire
story Tessie didn t say the lottery was a bad idea until she was chosen to get stoned. For instance,

Year 6009 Research Paper
The year 6009 will be the very first year since 1961 that a year (when written in Hindu arabic
numerals) can be inverted, and still look the same. But you and I probably won t live long
enough to enjoy the year 6009. Human lives just aren t long enough. We will miss out on that.
What other cool future events will we be missing ? Well, first of all, you and I will probably be
gone before seeing the Zeitpyramide (time pyramid) in Wemding, Germany completed. It will
eventually be a pile of 120 concrete blocks. Here s the catch. They re only adding one block
every decade. Since beginning in 1993, they ve added only the first three. At this rate, the pyramid
will be completed in the year 3183. The final block placed by our great great great great great,

day. But the REAL sky show comes in 3.75 billion years. Our galaxy is full of stars, viewed from
the surface of the Earth, they look like tiny drops of milk in the sky. Which is why we call it the

Graduation by Maya Angelou Critique
Danielle Davis
Eileen Thompson
English 121 SL
May 9, 2012
Graduation Critique Graduation was written by Maya Angelou in 1969. Angelou was born in
Missouri, but after her parents divorced, she was sent to live with her grandmother in Stamps,
Arkansas. While in Arkansas, Angelou attended the Lafayette County Training School. The school
is the setting for her essay Graduation. Angelou graduated from eighth grade at Lafayette with top
honors and went on to graduate from high school. After high school, Angelou wrote over thirty
plays, poems, children s books, and one of her autobiographies, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings
(Smelstor and Bruce). Graduation starts with Angelou s generalization of a high school senior s ...

The themes are identity and education. The essay can be found in Angelou s autobiography, I
Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. The autobiography describes how living in the south during
the Depression was a time for survival (Ball). The message of Graduation is the same; no matter
what obstacles arise she will survive. Angelou deserves an A for this essay because she has
strong examples of overcoming obstacles, sophisticated descriptions, and has a clear sense of
purpose with strong development. Angelou s example of overcoming adversity is the strongest
at the end of the essay. Something unrehearsed, unplanned, was going to happen, and we were
going to be made to look bad (Angelou 26). As she is sitting there as a young girl at her
graduation, she can feel the unwelcoming presence of the speaker s words and actions. Before the
speaker begins his political rant of what he has brought to the white community, Angelou
anticipates that the graduating class is going to be shamed. Angelou believes the speaker s words,
and starts to doubt her hopes and dreams. The man s dead words fell like bricks around the
auditorium and too many settled in my belly (Angelou 28). As Henry Reed starts to sing the Negro
national anthem, Angelou finally senses that the words do have meaning to her. Nearly every event
that Angelou mentions in her autobiography has one of two different aims. The aim she uses in this
essay is how she faces obstacles, overcomes them, and

The Center Stage-Personal Narrative
It was a dusky, cold evening in early December. The sky looked almost as if it might snow that
night because the sky was a charcoal gray, not a dark black. The lights and buildings sprinkled
the sky, like tiny little stars. The Center Stage s sign shone a bright green light that created a cast
over everyone who was waiting to get into the venue. Despite it being extremely cold outside,
everyone was just chatting away and laughter was heard from everywhere; it sounded like a nest
of honey bees. The air was sharp and chilly, but was filled with the scents of alcohol and cigarette
smoke. The group of people were waiting to see the band, Catfish and the Bottle men. All of the
people here were fairly young and dressed like hipsters. My group of... Show more content on

The sky now was no longer a dark gray, but a tar, soot black. The bright, star like lights were now
turned off in the majority of the office buildings and other business. The group that I came to
the concert with was all meeting up outside of the venue, but I arrived before everyone else at
meeting place, which was under the tree. To occupy the time, I got on my phone and replied to
the text messages that I missed. Suddenly, there was a light tap on my left shoulder and I heard
the familiar deep, Scottish voice. Hi, I was wondering if you would like to come with my
friends and I to get some pizza at the restaurant across the street? I stood there, glaring at him,
like a deer I head lights. I m very sorry, but I rode here with some friends and I have to ride back
home with them. An expression of disappointment spread across his bearded, pale face. He took
my social media information and proceeded to go with his friends. I could still smell his cologne
and camel cigarette smoke while I was riding through the bright, shiny city that

Whiskey Rebellion Essay
In a time when the British won a war against the Native Americans and the French, to the first
political parties, the Federalists and Democratic Republicans, there were rebellions. It is in this
context that changes can be found between the March of the Paxton Boys, Shays Rebellion, and the
Whiskey Rebellion. Violent protest in America from 1763 to 1791 changed significantly in terms of
reasons behind the desire for violent protest and the result that occurred because of the rebellion.
Admittedly, one significant continuity was the continued rebellion of the common people against
the elite. In all three rebellions, the people who were rebelling were the poor and common people
of the United States, rebelling against something the wealthy... Show more content on

Nearly 500 farmers attacked the house of General John Neville who was a tax inspector.
Pennsylvanian Farmers also attacked tax collectors and other officials in order to avoid paying the
tax which was imposed by the United States government. The March of the Paxton Boys, Shays
Rebellion, and the Whiskey rebellion were all common people against the elite because each
rebellion had the poor angry with the government. The United States government, on the state and
national level, was run by the elite, such as the northern wealthy citizens and southern gentry. On
the other hand, one significant change was the reason behind the desire for the rebellions. After
the attack on the Conestoga people by the Paxton Boys, the Pennsylvania government put the
remaining 16 Conestoga Indians in protective custody, but the Paxton Boys broke in and killed 6
adults and 8 children. The March of the Paxton Boys, as previously mentioned, occurred because
of the group wanting the law to help the farmers as well. The Paxton Boys, who were led by
Reverend John Elder attacked the Conestoga because of anger towards natives because of Pontiac
s Rebellion. Pontiac s Rebellion was when a group of natives who were led by different leaders, but
most prominently Pontiac, attacked British Forts and settlements because of their anger towards
British policies after

Analysis Of The Book Healing The Soul On The Age Of The...
The book Healing the Soul in the Age of the Brain by Elio Frattaroli, M.D. Explains why
medication isn t enough when treating mental illness. The Talking Cure by Susan C.Vaughan
explains why traditional therapy offers a chance for long term relief more than any other drug.
In this essay, I will write about what I have learned from both books, and I will provide examples
of how effective therapy is and the impact that can do on clients. I will explain why medication
is not always enough for clients suffering from mental illness. Also, I will compare the content
of both books with the Comer s psychological models. Based on my perception from both books,
Healing the Soul in the Age of the Brain, Frattaroli is a practicing psychoanalyst whose
hypothesis is that the psychiatric symptoms shown by clients, are an expression of unsolved
struggles and require to be worked throughout the psychotherapeutic method by a process of
transference and countertransference with the analyst. The book is remarkably useful in
explaining and speculating these processes and also in explaining Freud s different models of the
brain. Frattaroli develops his case when he implies that those who prefer the quick psychotropic
fix to the lengthy and costly processes of psychoanalytic therapy are giving expression to a
mentality that seeks to evade psychological disturbances and to renew balance before all else.
Using the analogy of learning to ride a bicycle Frattaroli suggests that an apprentice must be

  • 3. Character Analysis Of Abner And Sarty Snopes In Barn Burning Character Analysis of Abner and Sarty Snopes in Barn Burning The short story Barn Burning by William Faulkner takes place sometime around World War II. It is focused on the Snopes family, in particular, Abner Snopes, the father. The story starts off in a courtroom of a small town in which Abner Snopes was being prosecuted for Arson. Abner is described as a terrible man by his own family. His children and wife witness their father s actions and acts of abuse. After the trial ends and the Snopes family get out of town to the next house to work at. Sadly, the cycle continues, and Abner continues to commit arson. Throughout the story, Abner proves he has no care for those around him and often comes off as a rude person that expresses feelings of discontent with life. When in the court his young son Sarty is called to the stand to testify against his father. At this point, as he walks up to the stand he begins to ponder to himself, He aims for me to lie, he thought, again with that frantic grief and despair. And I will have to do it ( Faulkner 3). At this moment it is inferred Abner does not have good morals or intention and he encourages bad habits including crime into his family. Although Sarty did not testify in the court and his father was not proven guilty they still left town to get away from all the townspeople calling Abner a Barn Burner . Abner is then proven to be aggressive when he strikes two mules in a rather savage manner with excessive force. It is included ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Incident Command System Analysis The utilization of the Incident Command System (ICS) in the United States may at first glance appear to be an overwhelming, and complicated system of hazard management. On the contrary, for most responders with military, law enforcement, or fire service background, ICS closely conforms to the principles of command structure with which they are familiar. Applying strict command structure, along with standardized response training leads to higher probabilities of successful outcomes in the face of the most chaotic emergencies. Large scale emergency responses like 9/11 are repeatedly critiqued, often from afar, sometimes correctly, but sometimes unfairly. Training of individual responders in the use of PPE, hazardous material recognition, shielding tactics, or establishing an immediate perimeter can often increase survivability and mission success. The use of two man tactics to offensively isolate a terrorist, instead of waiting for a larger tactical unit response can be effective in limiting the scope of violent attacks. The use of technologies including: video surveillance, explosive detection, infrared viewing, thermal imaging, drones, and robotics are examples of advantageous equipment that when used correctly can positively alter response ability. The use of cross training of responder disciplines, such as police receiving fire or ems training will lead to more capabilities and understanding by those first on scene. Approximately half of individuals that work in law enforcement, fire, rescue, emergency medical, and related fields hold a second job in a similar emergency response agency (Newman, and Clark, 2008). Anna and I had planned to do a fun leaf activity where children could color over leaves on paper or use paint to stamp the leaves on paper. As a teacher, I had many thoughts run through my mind. As the children started to arrive over to our table, they were interested to see what we had. They loved the feeling of the foam paint, but quickly lost interest. The children seemed to be more comfortable at the tables with the activities and art from the previous times. Not Protecting the Right of Homosexual Marriage Endangers the Rights of Others Civil marriage is enjoyed by all people in society; all people that is, excluding the ones that find love in the form of their own gender. These people are being denied the basic right of engaging in legally bound matrimony. Laws, such as this one, have been created time and time again, mostly by ignorant bigots, only to be dissolved when finally seen as immoral and unjust in the eyes of someone without hatred in their heart. The bible calls homosexuality an abolishment , but also says, Let us therefore no longer pass judgment on one another, but resolve #8230;nothing is unclean in itself; but unclean for anyone who thinks it unclean (Romans 14:13 13). Also, when Americans were told that they would have freedom of religion, does not that sanctify freedom from religion as well? People wanting to engage in same sex marriage are not asking for all religions to accept their vows. They ask merely for tolerance and the ability to recite them so that they mean something, legally. They ask for simple civil equality in the pursuit of happiness (Jefferson 200) among themselves, the United States citizens. A dispute that frequently appears in court over same sex marriage is the question of what marriage is in it s self. Marriages exist in many forms that cannot fit into a universal mold. There are relationships consisting of one man and numerous women called polygamy. Relationships with one woman and many men called polyandry (Halsall 1). The hardest trial I would endure was to regain my range of motion and ability to lift weights. Weight lifting is one of the few sports that I love to do and have done since I was a child. The breakdown of the SRM assignment, shown in Appendix D, looks similar to that of Georgia Tech. There is a Director that oversees the operations and Accounting Managers leading teams of several Research Accountants. In this way, the financial management of Stanford s sponsored projects likely mirrors that of Georgia Tech. The American Dream portrays the idea that if a man is lazy, he might not do so well, but if a man wants to work and educate himself and try to create a fortune, there is nothing standing in his way. Some believe that Capitalism is the cause for much of the poverty in the nation today, but any hardcore capitalist will tell you that capitalism inherited poverty, and far from being a cause of poverty, it is the only solution.
The symbols of socialism and capitalism are present right from the start in this story. Sinclair first depicts the Lithuanian event with many of the same things and the partygoers with many of the same values (i.e. getting drunk, dancing) as we might see today to give the reader a sense of identity with the Lithuanians. He is beginning to get the reader to sympathize with these people. The grand time they are having is all part of traditions that these people have brought with them from their homeland. The people pitch in together to pay, everyone has their fill of everything, and strangers are brought in and welcomed. This is a strong symbol of socialism, where everyone is considered an equal. Some would go as far to say it created a war between the classes across American societies. Giants of industry, such as Andrew Carnegieand John D. The Gilded Age offered America rapid economic growth and new technological products that created an economical boom. Yet, these advancements were created at the costs of exploiting industrial workers and farmers working long hours in dangerous conditions for low pay and the American people sought political and social reforms in an effort to rebalance the scale of power in the United States. During the Gilded Age, the American economy had shifted from a nation of small farmers and craftsmen to an economy transformed by railroads and telephone lines that stretched from coast to coast. The Virginian, by Owen Wister The Virginian The cowboy hero, The Virginian, as portrayed in Owen Wister s novel was the first of his kind and today is known as the stereotypical mythic cowboy figure which our view of the western frontier are based from. The Virginian was the first full length western novel apart from the short dime novels which marked the final stage in the evolution of the cowboy hero to a national icon. The Virginian was published in 1902 and at that time was wildly popular because of the settlement of the west. This little exchange following the stage coach incident with Molly was an example of the intolerance the Virginian had for the mistreatment of women and he stood by his moral code and saved her from any further danger. Finally the western hero s wit and exceptional skills of perception really brought the most depth and character to the mythic cowboy hero. The wit of a cowboy and his capacity to understand an audience is commonly the point of a challenge as we see in The Virginian. Once again I had heard applied to the Virginian that epithet which Steve so freely used. The same words, identical to the letter. But this time they had produced a pistol. The Virginian is putting Trampas in his place with the phrase, When you call me that, smile! he orders the action and reins his enemies with his speech as greatly as he does with his physical actions. His speech is held in reserve for only the moments he needs to use it, much like his other abilities. • 25. Sonny s Blues Analysis Essay It s repulsive to think you have to suffer that much (Baldwin 132). Many would argue that in life, pain outweighs pleasure. Freud contends that although we are unable to reconcile with the truth because it frightens us, each and every one of us has an unconscious desire to die. Death, according to Freud, is the ultimate escape from the sufferings and hardships which define humanlife and reality. In Sonny s Blues, James Baldwin confronts this dark truth about human nature in his character, Sonny. Sonny s suffering becomes so unbearable that he refuses to accept it as an inevitable condition of the human experience; he refuses to take it : But nobody just takes it, Sonny cried, That s what I m telling you! Everybody tries not to (Baldwin 133). Rather than directly embrace death, Sonny seeks relief and control in other, alternative forms. At first, Sonny... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But the man who creates the music is hearing something else, is dealing with the roar rising from the void and imposing order on it as it hits the air (Baldwin 137). Through his piano, Sonny is able to grasp the chaos within and impose an empirical order on it by translating it into musical notes. Sonny s escape into music then becomes the conscious representation of the unconscious death instinct. By imposing order, Sonny is decreasing his amount of suffering, and therefore moving towards peace and rest. Racial Diversity And Diversity Diversity is permanently entrenched in American culture and with a better understanding of other cultures people can come to a place of collaboration and cooperation with one another. Looking back on what all I have learned in this course, the most important realization I had was just how white washed the scientific community really is. When civil rights issues were in full swing, there was a myriad of white researchers who were attempting to prove the inferiority of other races especially African Americans. Paper after paper delineating all of the physical differences and potential mental differences between African Americans and Caucasians simply to bolster their own inaccurate sense of superiority reveals the darker side of research and scientific exploration (Guthrie, 2004). Several of the issues we discussed in class were ones I was at least somewhat aware of and had been informed about in some sense or another. One of the surprising pieces of information was the health disparity between Caucasians and minorities. Logically speaking this disparity makes sense since when there is such a wide wage gap between these two groups one could assume this would have an effect on the health of those in question as well. The system was based on four castes (varna): The priest (brahmin), the warrior (kshatriya, rajanya), the merchant (vaishya), and the peasant (shudra). The untouchables (dalits) were ostracized from the caste system, as they are considered too impure to partake in the social hierarchy of the higher castes. A high percentage of these accidents are caused by elderly drivers who are not fit to drive. Health issues, lack of knowledge of new driving laws, or the development of bad driving habits are some factors that contribute to this issue. However, not all older drivers are dangerous behind the wheel. Actually, many are safer drivers than their younger counterparts. They are more cautious, adapt to weather conditions better, and tend to be less distracted behind the wheel. But the government should not ignore the elderly drivers who have killed others while behind the wheel due to age related issues. Licensed drivers over the age of 65 should be required to retake their driving test every year due to health issues that come with age, updated driving laws, and bad driving habits that develop over time. Health issues that come with age can heavily affect a driver s ability to control an automobile safely. Cinema of Attractions vs Narrative Cinema This essay will discuss both the Cinema of Attractions and Narrative Cinema and their origins in order to better understand the differences found between them in regards to the criteria to follow. This essay will highlight the role that the spectator plays, and the temporality that both the Cinema of Attractions and NarrativeCinema exhibit. Tom Gunning proposed the Continuity Model in order to better understand the beginning of film and the making of film. Gunning proposes the following assumptions: Firstly, the evolutionary assumption, in which film is considered to have developed linearly across time as more development occurs. Secondly, the cinematic assumption theorises that film only truly came to being through the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... MГ©liГЁs was one of the first directors to progress cinematic technology, which paved the way for narratives as style of film (Leveridge, 2012: 98). Cinema after 1906, according to Gunning, pushed towards the structure of linear narrative, and away from the immediacy of the spectacular image (Strauven, 1999: 387). Paradigms and their relation to the Spectator The Cinema of Attractions is based on an exhibitionist paradigm (Gunning, 2004: 44), where it seeks to knowingly addressing the spectator and provide its spectator with a series of views or selective information (Strauven, 1999: 49). The cinema of attractions existed primarily between the years 1895 and 1906 (Strauven, 1999: 38). Cinema of Attractions is concerned with the ability to display. Attractions wanted to show the here and now , interacting with its spectator with the aim of satisfying the audience s curiosity quickly (Gunning, 2004: 44). It displays current events, scenes form everyday life, composed scenes, vaudeville performances and also camera tricks (as pioneered by George MГ©liГЁs). Cinema of Attractions aims to astonish its audience (Strauven, 1999: 50). through displaying, rather than amusing its audience through narrative content. This is seen in films such as G. This book outlines so many big topic issues, and I feel they all play a role in how Henrietta s cells were recovered, and stored. We are officially introduced to Henrietta as Loretta Pleasant. Henrietta, or also known as Loretta, grew up with eight other siblings, and an abusive father. (Biogrophy.com) Henrietta spent most of her youth living with her grandfather and future husband. During this time in history, Henrietta along with other African Americans, were subjected to segregation. Her life was far from easy, she grew up as many African Americanchildren did during those times, working in the tobacco fields. It seems to me that this woman had a tremendously hard life. She endured: her mother s death, being divided from her family, segregation, child labor working in the tobacco fields, a philandering husband, and cancer to name just a few things. I honestly cannot begin to imagine this lifestyle much less cancer. What stands out to me about her is that I portray her to be this strong, resilient woman. I say this because she refuses treatment for her STDs, goes on sleeping with her husband bearing him children , and most of all, she was a God fearing woman. Humanity repeatedly blows crimes and incidents out of proportion until the entire society is somewhat controlled. Stuart Hall, in his book, Policing the Crisis explained that the media, in conjunction with the bourgeoisie, create moral panics in order to perpetrate fear and maintain control over society, as a whole. (Hall, 2013, s. 1) Moral panics are created as a hazard and rising threat to shock both society and culture into changing the way it thinks and acts about problems in the real world. In this essay, moral panics will be looked at in detail with a specific interest in the case of James Bulger. There will too, be a focus on the influence the media,... This is not the behaviour of children; it is the behaviour of evil. Particularly due to the age of the killers, the ferociousness of the crime and the age of the victim, the mass media reports allowed the public to get personally and emotionally involved in the case and have severe anger and resentment towards the children who murdered James Bulger. Although this was true for me, I made a change to try and see others viewpoints. This was probably due to my inexperience of others/ignorance and because I was too stubborn to believe that anyone other than me was right. An Error Residual Generator for Fault Detection and Isolation in a Data Acquisition System Used For Carbon Mono Oxide Nitrogen Oxide Monitoring Abstract clean air is a basic necessity for all human beings living on earth, yet about 80% of world s population breathes air that has pollutants which exceed the World Health Organization s recommended level. Environmental air pollution has significant influence on the concentration of constituents in the atmosphere leading to effects like global warming and acid rains. To avoid such adverse imbalances in nature, an air pollution measuring system is of utmost importance. This paper presents fault detection and isolative model implemented in a novel fault tolerant microcontroller based data acquisition system design for air pollutant concentration measurement in industrial facilities in Nigeria. A supervisory control unit was incorporated in the data acquisition system design in an attempt at robust control. The model utilizes weighted standard deviation /data variance method to detect anomalies and correlation in measured data, with a view to data intelligence elicitation, an error residual generator was designed to handle fault isolation and accommodation. The overall system implements corrective procedures in the event of a fault or failure with appropriate indicators showing in process operation. • 41. The First Epistle Of Peter The First Epistle of Peter The book of First Peter is one that is more prevalent in today s society. It is much more than just a book; it is an Epistle. Peter is writing a letter to God s people to offer them hope during their time of sorrow. Since Peter can relate to Jesus and his calling to his people, he is able to sincerely offer them the comfort and peace that can only be found in Christ. Peter conveys to them that even though they may be suffering, it is imperative that they put their trust in The Living Hope: Jesus. Peter s message is full of wisdom and encouragement for God s people to trust in Christ and put their life in His hands. The epistle of Peter was written by a man by the name of Simon Peter. Peter was born in Bethsaida, on the Sea of Galilee. Peter was a fisherman by trade and so was his brother John, who was also a disciple of Christ. Peter was the disciple that Jesus confided in and talked to first (Fletcher). He was one that Jesus could depend on most of the time. However, Peter is most notably known for his denial of Jesus three times. In Matthew 26:34, Jesus uttered, I tell you the truth, Peter this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny three times that you even know me (NLT). Even though Peter was the last disciple that one would ever expect to deny Jesus, he denies Jesus three times that night just as Christ predicted. So these two stories have a lot in common but somethings that are different, so in this essay I will talk about how they are the same and also different. Some ways that The Lottery and First they came are the same is that they both share the same theme. For example, they both share the theme that they both have disastrous consequences from following the crowd. For instance, in the lottery Tessie follows the crowd by participating in the lottery with everyone else. And in First they came martin followed the crowd by not speaking up. The two characters not speaking up led to their death. Which is something both stories had in common. Another way that you can compare both stories is that both of the characters didn t stand up for what s right when they should have. For instance, in the poem First they came in lines 1, 3, and 4 it says and I did not speak out so this means he did not speak out for other people. Angelou deserves an A for this essay because she has strong examples of overcoming obstacles, sophisticated descriptions, and has a clear sense of purpose with strong development. Angelou s example of overcoming adversity is the strongest at the end of the essay. Something unrehearsed, unplanned, was going to happen, and we were going to be made to look bad (Angelou 26). In this essay, I will write about what I have learned from both books, and I will provide examples of how effective therapy is and the impact that can do on clients. I will explain why medication is not always enough for clients suffering from mental illness. Also, I will compare the content of both books with the Comer s psychological models. Based on my perception from both books, Healing the Soul in the Age of the Brain, Frattaroli is a practicing psychoanalyst whose hypothesis is that the psychiatric symptoms shown by clients, are an expression of unsolved struggles and require to be worked throughout the psychotherapeutic method by a process of transference and countertransference with the analyst. The book is remarkably useful in explaining and speculating these processes and also in explaining Freud s different models of the brain. Frattaroli develops his case when he implies that those who prefer the quick psychotropic fix to the lengthy and costly processes of psychoanalytic therapy are giving expression to a mentality that seeks to evade psychological disturbances and to renew balance before all else.
