Book Report On Technology And The Internet
This book is different than other books of the similar topics. Normally, when the topic of a book is
about technology or internet , it is difficult for the book to be written in a fun way because let s face it;
this topic itself is a little tedious. However, this book showed us a brand new way of talking about
Internet and the influence it has brought to our life. The way the author quoted the researchers
sentences and theories helped us to feel more willing to continue reading this book.
We used to read books to absorb new information or just kill time. It was a traditional way for us to
obtain knowledge and ideas of people around the world. Sometimes we spend several hours or even
days reading an interesting book just because we were attracted by some new thoughts. However, the
occurrence of computer and the internet has changed this. We have lost our patience and interest in
reading long articles and books. Instead, we prefer searching keywords online to get what we want by
skipping all the way. This change has drawn huge influence on the development of the new
generations. As the author has pointed out in the book, it was more difficult to assign the students to
read a whole book nowadays. Also, since we do not need to actually write anything for most of time
all we do is typing, on the cell phone, on the computer, on the typewriter, and ect we forget words
spelling from time to time because we haven t written them for a log time. The effects of technology

Nazi Aggression And Its Effects On The World
After WWII, Europe was in shambles. Nearly every country in the mainland was affected by the death
and destruction brought on by the Third Reich s rise and fall. Many traditional East European
governments were toppled in the wake of the costliest human conflict to date. Out of the destruction
rose two competing political ideologies, each vying for the dominating spot on the world stage, and a
divided Germany was the forefront for this ideological battle. From West Germany westward, the
saving grace of capitalism fueled by the Marshall plan secured the prosperous and positive future of
countries destroyed by Nazi aggression. From East Germany eastward Moscow fought back under the
guiding light of Comrade Stalin with violent terror masked by ... Show more content on

It was this new world communist view, furthered by Joseph Stalin, which Eastern Europeans
welcomed with open arms. It was this twisted form of communism that appeared as a savior to the war
weary peoples of Eastern Europe who had lost everything during the war. With open arms, unaware
East European peoples welcomed communist parties into their broken lives. They would realize too
late that they committed a grave mistake allowing a complete communist take over. Poland s people
have had a long history of being pushed around and forgotten, and the Soviets were quick to take
discreet advantage of this after WWII. When the Polish Home Army began its uprising in August of
1944, the exiled pre war Polish government pleaded with the Allies for assistance. As Shore writes, the
British were quick to push the burden of rendering aid onto the Soviets. Winston Churchill was firm.
An accommodation should be reached between the Polish Government in London and the Soviet
Government, he told Mikolajczyk and Raczynski during a meeting on Downing Street. (Shore 155).
While the Polish people in Warsaw rose up against their Nazi occupiers, Soviet troops looked on from
across the river without offering assistance. Roosevelt and Churchill insisted that Stalin would come
to Poland s aid... It was the Soviets who were so

Understand Child and Young Person Development
Sequence and Rate of Each Aspect of Development and the Importance of Them
When looking at and discussing a child s development, you have to remember that all children are
different and grow at different rates. Every child will follow the same sequence but they may not
necessarily do it at the same time as each other. For example, you could have two, 6 month old babies,
1 could already be able to crawl, and the other 1 may not have mastered it yet and may not until they
are a bit older. You must remember that your child is an individual and not group him with another
child and expect him/her to reach the milestones at the same time. It is important also that a

Reflection About Diversity
When you ask people what the first word that comes to mind when they think of diversity, they
usually reply with race, socioeconomic status, or other demographic elements. Diversity entails a
multitude of factors, yet can also be connected to the individual experience. Growing up, my identity
has been strongly tied to my upbringing in an Italian household with my father, mother, and brother.
Considering my father s parents emigrated from Liguria, the birthplace of pesto, growing basil
allowed us to maintain a connection with our heritage. As a child, I remember playing in my backyard
with my brother, careful to not roll the ball in the dirt where the basil was growing. That would ruin
the fun of picking it with my dad and making it with my mom. Yet, the truly satisfying aspect of this
tradition was sitting down as a family and sharing a meal complete with numerous anecdotes.
Religion was also a large part of my heritage so I attended Catholic school until my enrollment in UC
Berkeley. Thus, I adopted a commitment to live by Catholic values especially in regards to serving the
less fortunate. In elementary school, numerous community service trips to local homeless shelters
were organized. These trips always served as a baffling experience as it shocked me how people with
so little could have such a positive outlook on life and be so grateful. Every act, even that as simple as
retrieving a napkin, was met with a polite thank you. My service experiences also extended to those I
participated in as a Girl Scout troop, including volunteering at disadvantaged preschools and bowling
with special needs children. As such, these experiences were a contributing factor to my desire to
pursue a career in medicine, as it was a profession that focused on the betterment of the community.
Another force that propelled me to pursue medicine was my hearing impairment. From the age of 6, I
would request that I sit up at the front of the class so I could hear the teacher better. Responses were
mixed over the years, with some teachers simply dismissing my request, claiming that would project
their voices. Some even suggested that I transfer to a school for the hearing impaired. Frankly, I was
confused as nothing about my

Emily Grierson Insanity
A Rose for Emily , by William Faulkner, pursues the story of Miss Emily Grierson s life during and
after the death of not only her father, Mr. Grierson, but her love interest, Homer Barron. In the
occurrence of the deaths, Emily s behaviors are classified as insane, meaning she is in a state of mind
preventing normal perception, behavior, or social interaction. (Koshland 931). An abounding amount
of events develop to prove Miss Grierson s insanity. Emily s lonesome emotions and strange behaviors
expose Emily as distant and quiet when interacting with others, revealing her insanity throughout the
story. Most of the time, insanity is noticeable as crazy or weird, but in Miss Grierson s case, insanity is
pure loneliness. Short after the death of Emily s father, the townspeople arrive at the Grierson
household to retrieve the body of Mr. Grierson, only to find Emily in denial. Miss Emily met them at
the door...with no trace of grief on her face. She did that for three days...she broke down, and they

herself away, exhibiting the same behaviors as she did after the death of her own father. Miss Emily
starts showing insane behaviors by distancing herself once again. Emily s emotions force the

Cultural Beliefs
Cultural Beliefs
Every culture has different beliefs on certain issues such as death, gender, and spiritual practices.
Cultural beliefs influence the way patients understand health concepts and how they take care of
themselves. Therefore, knowing a patients background and culture is a helpful key to solving certain
problems. The Hispanic culture is an old and very unique culture that has strong beliefs concerning
death, dying, gender, family, and spiritual practices. Relationships are very important in the Hispanic
culture. The majority of the Hispanic culture are Roman Catholics which means they believe that the
soul is eternal and continues on after the physical body has died. Roman Catholics consider human life
sacred. The Hispanic culture takes family very seriously. Most people resist of the idea of putting a
loved one in the nursing home because they want a family member to be there for their last breath.
Many times, religious values keep an ill person from feeling comfortable because their religion does
not allow pain medication. When a person is on their death bed, last rites are given by a priest, ill
person gives their last confession, and the priest offers absolution. When a loved one has passed away
the family will hold a wake. A wake in the Hispanic culture is a time for family members to share
memories of the deceased. A funeral is held in a church and the casket is carried to the final location.
A burial is followed by the church service. According to the

Peter Paul Rubens ( 1577-1640 )
Peter Paul Rubens (1577 1640) painted The Raising of the Cross in 1609 1610, when he was about the
age of the martyred Christ. Until 1794, this colossal work (central panel: 460 x 340 cm, side panels:
460 x 150 cm) was part of the high altar of the St. Walburgis Church, which was later demolished. The
painting was once taken away by the emperor when Napoleon ruled France. However, the painting
was returned to Antwerp in 1815, and it is located in the Our Lady s Cathedral since 1816.
The whirling strength, the impelling dynamism that characterize this masterpiece full of drama and
pathos are striking. Nevertheless the whole presentation appears coherent and balanced. The grunting,
pushing, pulling, and lifting from the men to raise the cross showed great strength, movement, and
endurance to perform the task that caused Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews to ask Almighty God to
forgive them due to lack of knowledge.
Brief Biographical
Peter Paul Rubens (June 28, 1577 May 30, 1640) was a prolific seventeenth century Flemish Baroque
painter, and a proponent of an exuberant Baroque style that emphasized movement, color, and
sensuality. (1) He is born in Siegen, Westphalia in Germany. He and his brother were sent to a Latin
school in Antwerp. Due to lack of money, Rubens mother withdrew him from school in 1590 and sent
him as a page to the Countess of Lalaing at the age of 13. She needed the extra money to pay a dowry
for his sister. Although his job was very prestigious,

Feminism Is The Belief Of Political, Economic And Social...
Feminism by: Laura Capellán
Feminism is the belief in political, economic and social equality of the sexes and is one of the leading
conflicts in today s society. In the past years, women had faced many battles to fight and give these
rights to women who have been deprived of their rights and privileges that were never given to them
by men. I believe that every person is entitled to have equal opportunities in this world. Feminism has
proven to slowly accomplishing this. Even if it meant hurting the people that you love. The Victorian
Era came change. This caused conflicts between right and wrong for a women during this time.
Feminism took a huge role in the roaring twenties that no one saw coming.
For example a new woman was born , which I believe is huge part of the feminists movements,
instigating many changes to the societies to come. Starting a different stereotype for women. Before
the twenties, the typical women would be what people consider today to be stay at home mom . The
women would stay home while the men worked; that meant cleaning, cooking, taking care of the kids,
and doing whatever is necessary to please the standards of their husbands. Many women had carry the
expectations that were held by their mothers. I disagree with the typical women during this time
because I believe that a women should be independent without being tied down by a man.
Another example, women started to make changes for the better. Believing that they could

styles. He considered there to be three types of leaders, democratic, autocratic, and laissez faire. In this

Peculiarities Of The Wuthering Heights
2.2 Peculiarities of the Wuthering Heights .

Deafness and Autism share similar characteristics; however, can be confused with each other if not
diagnosed correctly and in a timely manner. The most important of issue is knowing if the child has a
hearing loss or not because I can potentially mask the signs of Autism and a child can be
misdiagnosed (Syzmanski Brice 2008). For example, if a child is not responding it could because of
their hearing loss not Autism. This can lead to isolated play, especially if they do not have sign
language developed. Moreover, if sign language is not developed then this can lead to a decrease in
social interaction with any individuals leading to a greater isolation. Deafness and Autism are usually
both diagnosed within the first two to three years of age. Since they are diagnosed around the same
time that is where confusion can set in. The symptoms can be similar; however, it is differentiating
between whether the child is deaf or has autism or both. Some deaf children are misdiagnosed with
Autism because a hearing screening was not given until later in years which showed hearing loss.
Additionally, there is not a plethora amount of research to discuss when it comes to deaf individuals

Discrimination And Prejudice And Discrimination
Discrimination comes in a number of forms. We have age discrimination, employment or job
discrimination, racial discrimination, gender discrimination, reverse discrimination, sexual
discrimination, and others. Prejudice is a negative attitude toward a socially defined group and toward
any person perceived to be a member of that group (Burgess, 2003). The purpose of her research was
to talk about discrimination and prejudices and the affect they have on our day to day lives. She also
defines prejudice and discrimination and takes a look at their relationship to stereotyping and racism.
According to Burgess, stereotyping often leads to prejudice and discrimination, with its definition
almost mirroring that of prejudice. Stereotypes or characterizations are generalizations or assumptions
that people make about the characteristics of all members of a group, based on an image, often wrong,
about what people in that group are like. We are told that it does not allow for individuals to be
different, but names them all as one group (Burgess, 2003). Much as her research does, I d like to
discuss the different types of discrimination and prejudice and how we might eliminate it. In the text
chosen for this course, Managing Diversity People Skills for a Multicultural Workplace, the author
reminds its readers that America has been a segmented society and that de facto segregation is still
common. Rumor, suspicion, and stereotyping result if a group is competing too earnestly

The rat was laid face down on the tray and immediately we were able to distinguish whether it was

Mr.Cantrell gave us advice on how to successfully skin the rat, we began our dissection. Before we
began to cut down the rat, we had to break both of the rats arms and legs in order to pin it down onto
the tray. After doing this and pinning the rat down, we were able to begin. Caitlin picked up the
scalpel and began to cut vertically down the rats stomach. We had to do this operation very slowly and
delicately, otherwise we would cut through the muscle. After finishing cutting it vertically, we cut
across both arms and legs. By then, we were able to peel the skin back and pin it onto the tray. We
weren t able to see the organs yet, therefore we had to cut through the muscle. By cutting through the
muscle, a lot of formaldehyde and bodily liquid began to pour out which was nauseating yet
interesting. We decided to take both the rat and tray over to the trash can and dish out all of the

Compare And Contrast Reptiles And Amphibians
Reptiles and amphibians are two species of animals. They have been around for millions of years
before we were even thrive. Amphibians were some of the first vertebrates to ever walk the Earth.
They evolved from a species of prehistoric fish. Reptiles began to appear million years ago. They
evolved directly from a species of amphibians. In other words, they are closely related and have the
same ancestor. Many amphibians and reptiles are similar, even a number of people may still confuse
several species of amphibians with reptiles and vice versa. For example, a number of people still

people still unaware that salamanders are not reptiles.
One of the common perceptions regarding reptiles and amphibians are their associations with bodies
of water. Both of these animal families are cold blooded animals; meaning that their body temperature
is the same as air and water around them. Reptiles and amphibians are mainly tropical animals. They
are the inhabitants of lakes, rivers and ponds, although a number of reptiles may be sea and desert
dwellers as well. Several species of reptiles and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Volcanic Hazards
Volcanic Hazards (APA) Volcanic Hazards (Order #A2086670) Living in the shadow of a volcano can
be a dangerous proposition. A volcanic eruption, and there have been hundreds in the history of the
United States, can range from slowly oozing lava to massive eruptions and explosions causing
devastation over hundreds of square miles of territory. While many people associate volcanic activity
with the flowing of lava, as is common in the Hawaiian Islands, lava is rarely associated with being
hazardous to humans. Lava simply moves too slowly for people to be caught by it. However, there are
many other types of activities associated with volcanic eruptions that are more hazardous to human
beings. The enormous heat that comes from material from deep inside the Earth is a more common
cause of death than lava, as too is the suffocating cloud of ash and debris that is often blown out from
the volcano during violent, explosive eruptions. This cloud of ash and debris is often carried by toxic
and deadly gasses, including carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, as well as chlorine, hydrogen, and argon.
(Lutgen, 2011, p. 213) And the force of the blast that can come from an exploding volcano can hurl
people long distances to their deaths. Volcanoes which erupt violently commonly hurl pulverized rock,
lava, and glass fragments from the vent, called pyroclastic materials . (Lutgen, 2011, p. 213) These
materials, shot into the atmosphere, can then fuse to form rocks, called welded stuff

Analysis Of All That Heaven Allows
The development and implementation of 3D in popular cinema shares many similarities with the
introduction of color into films. If we examine the histories of both technologies, Moana s color
analogue is Douglas Sirk s melodrama All That Heaven Allows. In terms of timeline, both come at a
point when the art form is still in between the astonishment and absorption phases of using the
technology. Though All That Heaven Allows was made around fifteen years after the first technicolor
films, the movie is still designed to have the audience notice its beautifully colored shots. Most of the
film s landscapes feel oversaturated and doctored. These exterior shots often feel more like paintings
to appreciate rather than providing context for the film s interior shots. At the same time, color doesn t
define the story and characters in the same way as early Technicolor films like Michael Curtiz s The
Adventures of Robin Hood. In those instances color acted as a constant signal of where we were in the
narrative, and formed strong associations between characters and individual colors. In All That
Heaven Allows, the color schemes don t drastically change to suit the narrative, but they re still far
from fading into the background. Sirk uses color more as an emotional cue, nudging the audience into
feeling the drama of the film. Ultimately, All That Heaven Allows is a film made in the liminal period
between astonishment and absorption of color.
Moana uses 3D in a similar manner to All That Heaven Allows, as a noticeable but ultimately
auxiliary narrative tool. In earlier digital 3D films, negative and positive parallax were used to create
discrete new worlds. Avatar and Coraline were crafted to feel entirely different when the protagonists
ventured into a different environment, similar to the color phases of Robin Hood. Moana, on the other
hand, uses 3D in a way that pervades the entire film. Rather than build new worlds, Moana uses 3D
for the emotional effect, bringing characters and objects towards and away from the audience to make
us feel. Though the purpose of the film is not to showcase 3D technology, we can t help but notice
stuff flying at us during dynamic sequences like How Far I ll Go. Rather than switching

Death Of Marat
The Death of Marat, was a painting done by Jacques Louis David in 1748 1825, depicting the
assassination of Marat, a leader of the French Revolution. It was commissioned by the French
Convention to glorify Marat and to serve as a propaganda that upholds the momentum of the
revolution. By doing so, David aimed to raise people s sympathies towards Marat by portraying him
as the savior of the revolution, friend of the People , and the victim. He idealized Marat and chose to
bias towards Marat on this assassination event. He blended fact and fiction into the painting which
drove people to see Marat s death as a tragedy and Corday, the murder, as the wicked and immortal. In

In the painting, Marat was shown with undecorated and dirty cloths around him while in reality he
actually lived in a highly ornamented house and had servants following him around. By doing so,
helped make him look humble and foster his friend of the people image. On Marat hand, there was a
letter saying 13th July 1793. Marie Anne Charlotte Corday to the citizen Marat. The terrible
misfortune that I have entitles me to ask for your kindness. Along with a list of the names and location
of several Girondins. It was written by Corday, the murderer, to gain entrance into his house. As stated
in history, Corday at first was not determine to assassinate Marat, her decision to kill him was
depended upon Marat s response to the letter. Marat s response was Good, in a few days I will have
them all guillotined which was totally opposite to her expectation, therefore she stabbed him. During
the revolution, Marat guillotined whoever seemed to be opposing him, he was seen as merciless and
brutal leader with great power. However, in the painting, David twisted the truth, he drew a little note
on the table saying You will arrange this assignment for this mother of five children, whose husband
died in defense of the homeland . By this, showed Marat kindness and his concern about the need of
his people which again promoted his friend of the People

Araby tone
Araby, a short story from James Joyce s Dubliners, recounts an unnamed boy s transition from
childhood into adulthood, from a life filled with fantasy to all the harsh realities of life in Ireland
under British rule. The narrator of the story is the older version of the protagonist, and as a result the
prose seems far from what a child would write a preadolescent would not display such self awareness
and understanding. Further examination of the text shows that the narrator is actually embarrassed and
chagrined by the confused adoration towards his friend s older sister that marked his childhood,
creating a reflective yet fatuous tone that is developed through the utilization of literary devices such

For example, behind the boy s house is a wild garden [that] contained a central apple tree, a clear
allusion to the Garden of Eden. However, the image is distorted by a rusty bicycle pump that the boy
finds. He later sarcastically describes Mrs. Mercer s collecting used stamps as having some pious
purpose and notices two men [...] counting money on a salver, an action that would not be permitted in
a church as it would be viewed as crass and unholy. Ironically, the boy himself is guilty of twisting his
religion to suit his own purposes. He believes that his love for Mangan s sister is pure and holy, as
shown by his attempt to deify her in his description of her as being not only defined by light, but also
touched discreetly by the lamplight at the curved neck, which is reminiscent of the Virgin Mary in
Christian iconography. The religious imagery in Araby effectively showcases the narrator s aversion to
apotheosis and the practice of placing a person on such a pedestal. By presenting the information in
such a way, the narrator once again conveys the fatuous tone by appearing regretful of what he
believes to be his perversion of religion as a child and by portraying his actions as foolish and
unreasonable. This is accomplished by contrasting the perversion of religion surrounding the
protagonist with his deification of the object of his adulation. Because the narrator of Araby is more
mature and wiser than the

Development of Silicon Valley
Introduction
Until the middle of the century, the region of Northern California we call Silicon Valley, was known as
the Valley of Heart s Delight. At that time it was better known for its apricots and walnuts than for its
cutting edge technology. The first time the term Silicon Valley was used, was in 1971 when a
journalist wrote a couple of articles in Electronic News, a weekly electronic industry tabloid, about the
semiconductor industry around Palo Alto, California. Silicon Valley has since then transformed into a
region filled with high tech industry leaders who are constantly developing the most cutting edge
technology. The world we live in now is filled with electronics, computers, and high speed internet
communication, and this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Stanford Research Institute was a West Coast center of innovation to support economic
development in the region (Gromov). The great innovations in electronics eventually led to the
invention of the world s first digital computer in 1953. In 1955 Stanford graduate student Dr. William
Shockley founded a company called Shockley Transistor. He had developed a transistor based on the
principle of amplifying an electrical current using a solid semi conducting material, which was a
suitable alternative for the devices used up to then. The concept was based on the fact that it is
possible to selectively control the flow of electricity through silicon. The resultant discoveries
combined to form the basic concept behind the compact electrical transfer resistor , the transistor, that
was to power the coming High Tech Revolution.
The High Tech Revolution
The High Tech Revolution began when companies were able to use the micro sized transistors made
exclusively in silicon when integrating large numbers of integrated circuits, which are an essential part
of electronics. With the help of these transistors, the companies using them were able to rapidly join
the California electronics industry. Companies such as Intel, Signetics (now Philips Semiconductors),
National Semiconductors and AMD, were among the first in Silicon Valley to use this new technology.
They became the core of the semiconductor industry in Silicon Valley.

The Importance Of The Nigerian Education System
An experience I feel fortunate to have had is the Nigerian education system. As a result of my journey
through the flawed but wholesome education system, I have developed many skills at such a young
age. I have learned to take initiative in my classes, because, a common tradition in Nigerian schools is
for teachers to test students on topics not covered and justify those actions by giving students a
scheme of work, which is essentially a list of topics to be covered in the school year. Going through
this system, I have learned to befriend older students and ask them for their notes, to study, as the
Nigerian school curriculum hasn t changed in 50 years, much like the stance on corporal punishment
in schools. According to my parents I had it easy as in their time both girls and boys were whipped on
their rear but currently girls are hit on their palms, fingertips, and their legs, which is progress.
However, the instruments of pain have not changed as, students are hit with cables, kobokos,
omoroguns and pankeres. I personally have a memento of a beating gone wrong in the form of a scar.
The beating gone wrong happened when I was 4 and a teacher hit me so hard, my head was knocked
toward the corner of my desk where an exposed nail ripped the skin of my jaw. Interestingly, this was
one of the main motivations behind my wanting to be a pediatrician because I was stitched without
anesthesia while being held down by four nurses. While the Nigerian education system has its flaws, I

Strengths And Weaknesses Of A Parliamentary Government
A parliamentary government is a democratic form of government which operates on a party system. It
is the most popular and widely adopted form of democracy. A state that operates on a parliamentary
system is run by two executives, firstly the head of state who is either a monarch or president who
then appoints a prime minister as the head of government. A parliament can be run by either a single
majority political party or as a coalition government in which more than one party collaborate to form
the government. In this essay I will be assessing the key strengths and weaknesses associated with a
parliamentary government. In doing so I will conclude that whilst a parliamentary government has
weaknesses its strengths outweigh these and therefore it is the superior form of democratic
government.
As the most widely adopted form of democratic government there are many strengths associated with
a parliamentary government. The parliamentary system is often praised for the fast and efficient way
in which it is able to pass legislation. The reason this is possible is because unlike a presidential
system the legislative and executive power in a parliamentary system are merged together. Due to this
fusion of power legislation does not have to undergo a lengthy process and therefore laws can be
formulated and put into place much quicker(Bates, 1986: 114 5). Another advantage of a
parliamentary system is that the majority of the power is not held by one individual head of state but
rather is more evenly divided among a single party or coalition. One of the main benefits of this is that
as there is more of a division of power a parliamentary government is less prone to authoritarianism
than a presidential system. Juan Linz argues that a presidential system is more dangerous due to the
fact that; Winners and losers are sharply defined for the entire period of the presidential mandate
(Linz, 1990: 56), this sharp line between winners and losers increases tension between these two
groups and allows the winner to isolate themselves from other political parties (Linz, 1990: 56). Due
to this tension and isolation a presidential system is at a higher risk of turning into an authoritarian
regime than a parliamentary system.

The Ku Klux Klan ( Kkk )
The Ku Klux Klan (KKK) came into being in 1865 and was widespread in the southern states of the
USA. It was founded by former Confederate veterans in Pulaski, Tennessee. It was a movement,
formed after the civil war of America, to oppress the Republican Party s policies of reconstruction.
Few years after its formation, the movement engaged in war, fear and hatred in the war ravaged south.
The group s activities during this period have had adverse effects on the American society that still
haunt them to date (Southern Poverty Law Centre, 2011).
Racial supremacy was the driving force of the group s initial driving force. Ku Klux Klan objectives
aimed at re establishing white authority throughout America. The southern states were characterized
by lawlessness and violence in an attempt to intimidate the black community and sympathizers of the
Republican s policies of slavery abolishment. The group has been powerful and very evident twice in
the American history (Southern Poverty Law Centre, 2011).
In this paper, we will concentrate on the movement s activities and defining moments from 1865 to
1900. The above is the first period of the clan widely known as the first Klan. The paper looks at how
the group contributed to the reestablishment of white supremacy in the social, political and economic
life of the South America. The goals and tactics of the clan led to bloody events that shaped the socio
economic and political lifestyle of both white and black Southern Americans.

Honore de Balzac and Gustave Flaubert s Writings on Capitalism
The Revolution in France, during the 19th century, gave power to the people for the first time in
France. French citizens now had faith that they could form a strong, independent country; but what
they did not realize was that there must be some form of financial or monetary backbone present for a
country to excel on its own in the modern world. This gave way to the rise of capitalism and all its
follies, debaucheries, and mainly the exploitive nature it excites in people. Two authors, who were
writing and observing these changes during this time in France, Honore de Balzac, and Gustave
Flaubert, exemplify the demoralization of a people caused by the onslaught of ... Show more content

Eugene s actions are exploitive because he has no regard for the well being of his family by asking for
their life savings. Eugene also does not take into account how he is going to recover the sums he
unethically acquires. However, capitalism s influence does not stop with Eugene in this instance. The
idea of needing expensive clothes and flashy attire influences his sister Laura that she should use her
sewing and clothes making skills in order to save Eugene some money, and therefore have a better
chance of Parisian high society accepting him. Eugene says that his sister has become as crafty as a
thief (87), which comments on the changes within her caused by the minute exposure to modern,
capitalistic, ideals. However, really Laura is stealing from herself by willingly exploiting her own
labor without compensation of any sort. Here, along with the ever present portrayal of Goriot s
daughters bamboozling him for money, Balzac illustrates the most pathetic and demoralizing form of
exploitation: when one exploits or unfairly takes advantage of their own family in a way that can lead
them to starvation or even death.
Pere Goriot and Eugene are not only involved with family exploitation, but they are also taking

Themes In To Kill A Mocking Bird And The Breakfast Club
The definition of belonging is shaped by various factors. Personal, Cultural, historical and social
influences can determine in which way the theme is related to. It is labelled as an issue being
associated with the depression as well as today. The two text types that I have analysed to further
explore belonging is the novel To Kill A Mocking Bird and the film The Breakfast Club as well as the
themes apparent in both of these Prejudice, cultural bias and stereotypes. The novel To Kill A
Mocking Bird is primarily based on the problems associated with prejudice and cultural bias during
the 30 s. That these themes are explored by Harper Lee it allows for a greater approach to balancing
belonging and most of all not belonging. In Chapter 20 of the novel Atticus states There s something
in our world that makes men lose their heads, they couldn t be fair if they tried it s a white mans world
against a black man s, a white man always wins now this quote is directed at Jem. A 10 year old girl
caught in the prime generation for cultural bias and discrimination. The inclusion of this statement is
the utilisation of metaphor to reflect the strong presence of inequality and racism. It is as
straightforward to the reader, as it is in the text. This technique establishes the two perspectives within
the town. Jem s prejudice outlook is a good reference to how people will go along with what they are
educated on rather than what they see, as it s easier to belong than to not. It clearly

Step 1: Area of law
The area of law is contract law focusing on the element of agreement.
Step 2: Principles of law
Contract law is defined as lawfully enforceable agreement between two or more people to a contract.
An agreement also known as a promise consists of an offer and an acceptance. An offer is defined as
indication of the terms upon which an individual is ready to be obligated. On the other hand, an
acceptance is the agreement of the terms that have been offered. The parties associated with the
agreement are known as an offeror or an offeree. The offeror is the one who makes the offer, and the
offeree is the one accepts the offer (Curtin College 2014).
For an offer to be satisfied, there are rules to be considered. The offer has to be complete, promissory,
intention to undergo a contract when accepted, and focused on an individual or a group. In addition,

Challenges Faced By The Crowd Funding
CROWD FUNDING As a young Indian, I always want India to be filled with people of new
innovative, creative and productive ideas and thoughts. And I strongly believe that if these thoughts
can be made into actions with the advancements in Information technology, it can heal India s soaring
problems like unemployment, illiteracy to an extent. But recent reports on India s ease of doing
business rankings is very alarming. Even after 20 years of economic reforms, India slipped from 131st
position in 2013 to 134th position in 2014.Among BRICS countries, India is doing the worst. And
among the issues faced by Small, Medium Enterprises which includes startups, credit issues is a main
concern. In a recent secondary research done by me in finding credit issues of SMEs, results showed
that out of all SMEs, 92.77% have no finance or self finance. This has really affected the growth of
SMEs in India. Even after increase in number of venture capitalists/angel investors to protect new
ideas, this result shows that time has been exceeded to find a sustainable solution for this issue.

Evaluation Of The Organization s Service Delivery Essay
Part I: Strategic Review of the Organization s Service Delivery
The National Screening Unit (NSU) was established in 2001. It is an organisation that provides health
screening programmes in New Zealand by providing services to people and diagnosing the health
issues in order to reassure they are healthy. National Screening Unit divide people into two category;
the population who are prone of having any disease (positive screening result) and those who do not
have any chance of acquiring a disease (negative screening result) (NSU, 2014). The screening unit
programme reveals some conditions and then there is chance to diminish developing any disease or to
save someone from dying. National Screening Unit provides services through their five programmes
and one quality improvement initiative programme to people. Firstly, the Antenatal HIV Screening
(NSU, 2014). The programme is not meant for women who are diagnosed with HIV but the women
who are suspected to have the disease to minimise the chance of transferring the virus to the foetus.
The main objective is to guarantee that women are offered HIV screening along with their first
pregnancy so that transmission of virus can be counteracted. According to New Zealand AIDS
Foundation (NZAF) the people can take advantage of their services like free counselling, HIV
prevention through information dissemination. Secondly, the Antenatal Screening for Down Syndrome

An Analysis Of Edward Hopper s Nighthawks
To explain, Nighthawks was painted in 1942, right after the U.S. entered World War II. At the time,
the war dominated the culture that Americans lived in, and everything was focused on supporting the
war effort. Necessities such as food or clothing were rationed for troops, and neighborhood wide
drives were held to collect scrap metal. There were advertisements urging people to work for the
patriotic good, and newsreels about battles were shown in theaters before movies (The U.S. Home
Front During World War II). This atmosphere of intense focus and dedication was the result of fear.
The bombing of Pearl Harbor, which was what prompted the U.S. to become involved in the war, was
an invasion of the American consciousness, (Erenberg and Hirsch). ... Show more content on

His artistic career began as he studied at the Correspondence School of Illustrating in New York City
and then at the New York School of Art. While he initially started with learning about illustration, he
eventually began to study painting and drawing (Levin, Hopper). At the New York School of Art, he
was taught by William Merritt Chase, an Impressionist painter, and with Robert Henri, who was a
realist (Murphy). Perhaps being exposed to their teachings were what influenced the approach that
Hopper took to his artwork He traveled often to many places across Europe, but as mentioned before,
Paris was a particular favorite of his. He married Jo in 1923, and she became a huge part of his artistic
process. She kept detailed records of his pieces and often modeled for them; in fact, she was the one
who posed for the woman in Nighthawks (Levin, Edward Hopper: An Intimate Biography, 349).
Hopper struggled as an artist until the 1920s; his work was mostly ignored and unrecognized, and had
to make the majority of his sales from etching and prints. He finally achieved critical success after his
second one man show, Recent Watercolors by Edward Hopper, in which every single painting was
sold (Troyen, 63 64). From there, Hopper began to achieve national exposure and critical acclaim. His
artwork was exhibited in many galleries and collections, most

Hominin Naledi Essay
5 facts about the new Hominin Naledi
South Africa An international team of scientist led by Professor Lee R. Berger, announced on
Thursday the discovery of a new hominin species named Homo Naledi from the fossils found in the
Rising Star cave in South Africa. This adds a new branch to the human species family tree.
Modern humans, who belong to a specie named Homo sapiens, continue to be until today the only
living species in our genus. But 20,000 years ago there were other species of the genus Homo that are
now referred as hominins . The discovering of Lee R. Berger, an American paleoanthropologist who is
a professor of human evolution studies at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg,
describe an unusual collection of hominins ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The creature, which evidently walked upright, represents a mix of traits. The hands and feet look like
Homo, but the shoulders and the small brain recall Homo s more ape like ancestors, the researchers
said.
It s brain was no larger than a baseball, its shoulders and torso primitive, its fingers long and curved,
allowing H. naledi to climb and swing from the trees. [...] Its long legs and feet, nearly
indistinguishable from those of modern man, allowed it not only to walk upright but also to travel for
many miles at a time reported from The Washington Post Amy Ellis Nutt.
Scientists also believe that Homo naledi buried their dead. The number of bodies, their location, and
the hard access characteristic of the cave makes scientists believe that Naledi species left deliberately
bodies in caves as a way of burying them. This has been considered as a behavior limited to modern
humans and never seen before in such a primitive human, reported The New York Times. This could
have big implications for understanding the origins of modern human behavior.
They may have used tools. The hands suggest tool using capabilities as they had extremely curved
fingers. More curved that almost any other species at such early state of hominin, suggesting they had
climbing

The Myth Of God s God
Before God created there was no man to deny the existence of God, to praise an atheistic humanistic
god, to curse his Creator. There was no man to seek materialistic inventions, to structure their own
earthly heaven, build a crumbling success that clings to that which is satanic and forgets their Creator.
Before creation, no man spent a lifetime running from the purpose of his creation, seeking his own
ungodly selfish end, and die not only rejecting his Savior and God but rejecting the treasure of an
eternity in Glory. Could it be that when God planned to create mankind that he knew that man would
fall and that his nature would be to seek his own selfish aims? Sure. God knew all things, even before
the foundation of the world, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have a harder time wondering why He would make any of us, and certainly, we all fall short of the
glory of God. So tell me, where does Scripture say a woman has the right to do with her own body as
she pleases? Where does she have the right to kill an innocent baby? Does she indeed have the right to
do as she pleases with her own baby? Where are the child s rights? Is this not demonic? (16)
In the words of Rick Jones,
Satan worshipers are forced to drink stuff like urine and blood. They perform all kinds of bloody
animal sacrifices in their rituals. But it doesn t stop there. Experts estimate that between 50,000 and
60,000 satanic human sacrifices take place each year in the united States alone. That s 170 human
sacrifices every single day. Their favorite victims are babies; the younger the better. If you re real
smart, you ve already figured out that they need 50,000 to 60,000 victims every year. Once you ve
joined, you just might get volunteered.

Then God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the men of Shechem; and the men of Shechem

Here was the son of a murderer that sat on the throne that his father refused. Abimelech was a
murderer that killed his seventy brothers to become king. The men of Shechem were fed up with the
ways of Abimelech, and their jealousy and discord among them turned to plotting about getting rid of

Pricing vs. Costing
To determine the price for the product or service, the firm must understand the costs for running the
business. If the price is not enough to recover costs, the cash flow will be negative and the business
will fail.
Costs include: o Property and equipment leases o Loan repayments o Inventory o Utilities o Financing
costs o Salaries/wages/commissions. o Markdowns o Shortages o Damaged merchandise o Employee
discounts o Desired profit
Profit should be added to the list of costs and treated as a fixed cost. Nobody runs a business just to
break even.
Pricing as a Component of the Marketing Mix
Generally, marketing mix denotes the four Ps of marketing:
Product
Price
Place (distribution)
Promotion Before a product is developed, a firm needs to come up with a marketing strategy. This
involves selecting the target market and product positioning. Usually, there has to be a balance
between product quality and price. This way, price plays an important role in the marketing mix.
Pricing will always be determined by these tradeoffs

Compare And Contrast Babe Ruth And Al Capone
Comparison and Contrast.
Babe Ruth and Al Capone
The purpose of this essay is to compare the life and experiences of two American in history. I decided
to write about two icons of the 1920s Al Capone and Babe Ruth because most of the times we focus
more on the people who most likely did not struggle to obtain higher social status, moreover, these
two characters grew up in the same period time, but made different choices in life, which I believe it
will be interesting to know if two different people went through similar experiences. First, we would
highlight their significant details about themselves, secondly, we will look at their similarities and
lastly, we will spot their differences. First, who was Babe Ruth; based on the book Babe Ruth by
Tracy Brown Collins, his real name was George Herman Ruth the same as his father, he was born on
February 6, 1895, in Baltimore, Maryland, but what is interesting is that for many years he believed
that he was born on February 07, 1894, until he got his birth certificate when he was required to get
his passport and found out his real date of birth.
The neighborhood where he was born is known as Pig town it was a poor neighborhood with cramped
houses. Ruth s parents were, Kate Schamberger Ruth and George Herman Ruth they owned and run a
bar and their house was on the second floor, they had eight children, which Ruth was the oldest, but
only him and a sister named Mary survived past infancy since they were poor they couldn t afford

Confirmation In The 1910 Encyclical Quam Singulari Of...
Confirmation is a sacrament that has become an enigma wrapped in a riddle that ends with an open
ended question for teens all over the world. It has become an increasingly tough Sacrament to define
and explain to those coming to the sacrament of choice. This book was chosen by most of us, not
because of the size but because we have all been called upon to talk to confirmation classes and
talking more intelligently and genuinely is what this generation is striving to receive. Since there is so
much confusion over this sacrament it is imperative we try to live up to the exhortation in paragraph
59 of Sacrosanctum Concilium. It is therefore of the highest importance that the faithful should easily
understand the sacramental signs (SC 59). Timothy Gabrielli s book is meant to give the thinking and
theology behind how this sacrament has been shaped by the twentieth century culture. This book is
meant to stir up conversation and understanding of the need for more priority from the church and its
leaders in the celebration of this sacrament. The main idea running through this book is the 1910
encyclical Quam Singulari of Pius X as the stick of dynamite that blew up the sacrament order. It
appears to me it was the light that illuminated the need for a change in the timing of first communion.
The unforeseen consequence was the upheaval and confusion around Confirmation since it was not
mentioned in the encyclical. The first chapter starts with the quote from the encyclical and

  • 2. Book Report On Technology And The Internet This book is different than other books of the similar topics. Normally, when the topic of a book is about technology or internet , it is difficult for the book to be written in a fun way because let s face it; this topic itself is a little tedious. However, this book showed us a brand new way of talking about Internet and the influence it has brought to our life. The way the author quoted the researchers sentences and theories helped us to feel more willing to continue reading this book. We used to read books to absorb new information or just kill time. It was a traditional way for us to obtain knowledge and ideas of people around the world. Sometimes we spend several hours or even days reading an interesting book just because we were attracted by some new thoughts. However, the occurrence of computer and the internet has changed this. We have lost our patience and interest in reading long articles and books. Instead, we prefer searching keywords online to get what we want by skipping all the way. This change has drawn huge influence on the development of the new generations. As the author has pointed out in the book, it was more difficult to assign the students to read a whole book nowadays. Also, since we do not need to actually write anything for most of time all we do is typing, on the cell phone, on the computer, on the typewriter, and ect we forget words spelling from time to time because we haven t written them for a log time. • 3. Nazi Aggression And Its Effects On The World After WWII, Europe was in shambles. Nearly every country in the mainland was affected by the death and destruction brought on by the Third Reich s rise and fall. Many traditional East European governments were toppled in the wake of the costliest human conflict to date. Out of the destruction rose two competing political ideologies, each vying for the dominating spot on the world stage, and a divided Germany was the forefront for this ideological battle. From West Germany westward, the saving grace of capitalism fueled by the Marshall plan secured the prosperous and positive future of countries destroyed by Nazi aggression. • 7. Reflection About Diversity When you ask people what the first word that comes to mind when they think of diversity, they usually reply with race, socioeconomic status, or other demographic elements. Diversity entails a multitude of factors, yet can also be connected to the individual experience. Growing up, my identity has been strongly tied to my upbringing in an Italian household with my father, mother, and brother. Considering my father s parents emigrated from Liguria, the birthplace of pesto, growing basil allowed us to maintain a connection with our heritage. As a child, I remember playing in my backyard with my brother, careful to not roll the ball in the dirt where the basil was growing. That would ruin the fun of picking it with my dad and making it with my mom. Yet, the truly satisfying aspect of this tradition was sitting down as a family and sharing a meal complete with numerous anecdotes. Religion was also a large part of my heritage so I attended Catholic school until my enrollment in UC Berkeley. Thus, I adopted a commitment to live by Catholic values especially in regards to serving the less fortunate. In elementary school, numerous community service trips to local homeless shelters were organized. These trips always served as a baffling experience as it shocked me how people with so little could have such a positive outlook on life and be so grateful. Every act, even that as simple as retrieving a napkin, was met with a polite thank you. My service experiences also extended to those I participated in as a Girl Scout troop, including volunteering at disadvantaged preschools and bowling with special needs children. As such, these experiences were a contributing factor to my desire to pursue a career in medicine, as it was a profession that focused on the betterment of the community. Another force that propelled me to pursue medicine was my hearing impairment. From the age of 6, I would request that I sit up at the front of the class so I could hear the teacher better. Responses were mixed over the years, with some teachers simply dismissing my request, claiming that would project their voices. Some even suggested that I transfer to a school for the hearing impaired. Frankly, I was confused as nothing about my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the occurrence of the deaths, Emily s behaviors are classified as insane, meaning she is in a state of mind preventing normal perception, behavior, or social interaction. (Koshland 931). Until 1794, this colossal work (central panel: 460 x 340 cm, side panels: 460 x 150 cm) was part of the high altar of the St. Walburgis Church, which was later demolished. The painting was once taken away by the emperor when Napoleon ruled France. However, the painting was returned to Antwerp in 1815, and it is located in the Our Lady s Cathedral since 1816. The whirling strength, the impelling dynamism that characterize this masterpiece full of drama and pathos are striking. Nevertheless the whole presentation appears coherent and balanced. The grunting, pushing, pulling, and lifting from the men to raise the cross showed great strength, movement, and endurance to perform the task that caused Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews to ask Almighty God to forgive them due to lack of knowledge. Brief Biographical Peter Paul Rubens (June 28, 1577 May 30, 1640) was a prolific seventeenth century Flemish Baroque painter, and a proponent of an exuberant Baroque style that emphasized movement, color, and sensuality. (1) He is born in Siegen, Westphalia in Germany. He and his brother were sent to a Latin school in Antwerp. For example a new woman was born , which I believe is huge part of the feminists movements, instigating many changes to the societies to come. Starting a different stereotype for women. Before the twenties, the typical women would be what people consider today to be stay at home mom . The women would stay home while the men worked; that meant cleaning, cooking, taking care of the kids, and doing whatever is necessary to please the standards of their husbands. Prejudice is a negative attitude toward a socially defined group and toward any person perceived to be a member of that group (Burgess, 2003). The purpose of her research was to talk about discrimination and prejudices and the affect they have on our day to day lives. She also defines prejudice and discrimination and takes a look at their relationship to stereotyping and racism. According to Burgess, stereotyping often leads to prejudice and discrimination, with its definition almost mirroring that of prejudice. Stereotypes or characterizations are generalizations or assumptions that people make about the characteristics of all members of a group, based on an image, often wrong, about what people in that group are like. We are told that it does not allow for individuals to be different, but names them all as one group (Burgess, 2003). Much as her research does, I d like to discuss the different types of discrimination and prejudice and how we might eliminate it. In the text chosen for this course, Managing Diversity People Skills for a Multicultural Workplace, the author reminds its readers that America has been a segmented society and that de facto segregation is still common. • 19. Rat Observation Report On May 16 2017, my partner and I dissected a rat in Anatomy. I was looking forward to the dissection, although the thought of cutting a rat open was not very appealing. Although, I do enjoy partaking in and watching surgeries on YouTube. The sad part though for this lab was that it would be our last one with Mr.Cantrell. My partner for this lab was Caitlin Ledbetter, as she has also been my partner for the whole year. Once walking into the classroom, the smell of formaldehyde filled my senses, making me want to gag. The rat was laid face down on the tray and immediately we were able to distinguish whether it was male or female. We could tell our rat was male because of the inflamed or overly sized testes. After Mr.Cantrell gave us advice on how to successfully skin the rat, we began our dissection. Before we began to cut down the rat, we had to break both of the rats arms and legs in order to pin it down onto the tray. After doing this and pinning the rat down, we were able to begin. Caitlin picked up the scalpel and began to cut vertically down the rats stomach. We had to do this operation very slowly and delicately, otherwise we would cut through the muscle. After finishing cutting it vertically, we cut across both arms and legs. By then, we were able to peel the skin back and pin it onto the tray. We weren t able to see the organs yet, therefore we had to cut through the muscle. By cutting through the muscle, a lot of formaldehyde and bodily liquid began to pour out which was nauseating yet interesting. We decided to take both the rat and tray over to the trash can and dish out all of the formaldehyde that was filled inside of the rat s body. After doing this, we went back to ... Amphibians were some of the first vertebrates to ever walk the Earth. They evolved from a species of prehistoric fish. Reptiles began to appear million years ago. They evolved directly from a species of amphibians. In other words, they are closely related and have the same ancestor. Many amphibians and reptiles are similar, even a number of people may still confuse several species of amphibians with reptiles and vice versa. For example, a number of people still mistaken salamanders as reptiles. While salamanders have similar appearance as lizards, a number of people still unaware that salamanders are not reptiles. One of the common perceptions regarding reptiles and amphibians are their associations with bodies of water. Both of these animal families are cold blooded animals; meaning that their body temperature is the same as air and water around them. Reptiles and amphibians are mainly tropical animals. • 21. Volcanic Hazards Volcanic Hazards (APA) Volcanic Hazards (Order #A2086670) Living in the shadow of a volcano can be a dangerous proposition. A volcanic eruption, and there have been hundreds in the history of the United States, can range from slowly oozing lava to massive eruptions and explosions causing devastation over hundreds of square miles of territory. While many people associate volcanic activity with the flowing of lava, as is common in the Hawaiian Islands, lava is rarely associated with being hazardous to humans. Lava simply moves too slowly for people to be caught by it. However, there are many other types of activities associated with volcanic eruptions that are more hazardous to human beings. The enormous heat that comes from material from deep inside the Earth is a more common cause of death than lava, as too is the suffocating cloud of ash and debris that is often blown out from the volcano during violent, explosive eruptions. This cloud of ash and debris is often carried by toxic and deadly gasses, including carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, as well as chlorine, hydrogen, and argon. (Lutgen, 2011, p. 213) And the force of the blast that can come from an exploding volcano can hurl people long distances to their deaths. Volcanoes which erupt violently commonly hurl pulverized rock, lava, and glass fragments from the vent, called pyroclastic materials . (Lutgen, 2011, p. 213) These materials, shot into the atmosphere, can then fuse to form rocks, called welded stuff ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. Analysis Of All That Heaven Allows The development and implementation of 3D in popular cinema shares many similarities with the introduction of color into films. If we examine the histories of both technologies, Moana s color analogue is Douglas Sirk s melodrama All That Heaven Allows. In terms of timeline, both come at a point when the art form is still in between the astonishment and absorption phases of using the technology. Though All That Heaven Allows was made around fifteen years after the first technicolor films, the movie is still designed to have the audience notice its beautifully colored shots. Most of the film s landscapes feel oversaturated and doctored. These exterior shots often feel more like paintings to appreciate rather than providing context for the film s interior shots. At the same time, color doesn t define the story and characters in the same way as early Technicolor films like Michael Curtiz s The Adventures of Robin Hood. In those instances color acted as a constant signal of where we were in the narrative, and formed strong associations between characters and individual colors. In All That Heaven Allows, the color schemes don t drastically change to suit the narrative, but they re still far from fading into the background. Sirk uses color more as an emotional cue, nudging the audience into feeling the drama of the film. Ultimately, All That Heaven Allows is a film made in the liminal period between astonishment and absorption of color. Moana uses 3D in a similar manner to All That Heaven Allows, as a noticeable but ultimately auxiliary narrative tool. In earlier digital 3D films, negative and positive parallax were used to create discrete new worlds. Avatar and Coraline were crafted to feel entirely different when the protagonists ventured into a different environment, similar to the color phases of Robin Hood. Moana, on the other hand, uses 3D in a way that pervades the entire film. Rather than build new worlds, Moana uses 3D for the emotional effect, bringing characters and objects towards and away from the audience to make us feel. Though the purpose of the film is not to showcase 3D technology, we can t help but notice stuff flying at us during dynamic sequences like How Far I ll Go. Rather than switching ... It was commissioned by the French Convention to glorify Marat and to serve as a propaganda that upholds the momentum of the revolution. By doing so, David aimed to raise people s sympathies towards Marat by portraying him as the savior of the revolution, friend of the People , and the victim. He idealized Marat and chose to bias towards Marat on this assassination event. He later sarcastically describes Mrs. Mercer s collecting used stamps as having some pious purpose and notices two men [...] counting money on a salver, an action that would not be permitted in a church as it would be viewed as crass and unholy. Ironically, the boy himself is guilty of twisting his religion to suit his own purposes. He believes that his love for Mangan s sister is pure and holy, as shown by his attempt to deify her in his description of her as being not only defined by light, but also touched discreetly by the lamplight at the curved neck, which is reminiscent of the Virgin Mary in Christian iconography. The religious imagery in Araby effectively showcases the narrator s aversion to apotheosis and the practice of placing a person on such a pedestal. By presenting the information in such a way, the narrator once again conveys the fatuous tone by appearing regretful of what he believes to be his perversion of religion as a child and by portraying his actions as foolish and unreasonable. This is accomplished by contrasting the perversion of religion surrounding the protagonist with his deification of the object of his adulation. As a result of my journey through the flawed but wholesome education system, I have developed many skills at such a young age. I have learned to take initiative in my classes, because, a common tradition in Nigerian schools is for teachers to test students on topics not covered and justify those actions by giving students a scheme of work, which is essentially a list of topics to be covered in the school year. Going through this system, I have learned to befriend older students and ask them for their notes, to study, as the Nigerian school curriculum hasn t changed in 50 years, much like the stance on corporal punishment in schools. According to my parents I had it easy as in their time both girls and boys were whipped on their rear but currently girls are hit on their palms, fingertips, and their legs, which is progress. However, the instruments of pain have not changed as, students are hit with cables, kobokos, omoroguns and pankeres. I personally have a memento of a beating gone wrong in the form of a scar. The beating gone wrong happened when I was 4 and a teacher hit me so hard, my head was knocked toward the corner of my desk where an exposed nail ripped the skin of my jaw. • 30. Strengths And Weaknesses Of A Parliamentary Government A parliamentary government is a democratic form of government which operates on a party system. It is the most popular and widely adopted form of democracy. A state that operates on a parliamentary system is run by two executives, firstly the head of state who is either a monarch or president who then appoints a prime minister as the head of government. A parliament can be run by either a single majority political party or as a coalition government in which more than one party collaborate to form the government. In this essay I will be assessing the key strengths and weaknesses associated with a parliamentary government. In doing so I will conclude that whilst a parliamentary government has weaknesses its strengths outweigh these and therefore it is the superior form of democratic government. As the most widely adopted form of democratic government there are many strengths associated with a parliamentary government. The parliamentary system is often praised for the fast and efficient way in which it is able to pass legislation. The reason this is possible is because unlike a presidential system the legislative and executive power in a parliamentary system are merged together. Due to this fusion of power legislation does not have to undergo a lengthy process and therefore laws can be formulated and put into place much quicker(Bates, 1986: 114 5). Another advantage of a parliamentary system is that the majority of the power is not held by one individual head of state but rather is more evenly divided among a single party or coalition. One of the main benefits of this is that as there is more of a division of power a parliamentary government is less prone to authoritarianism than a presidential system. Juan Linz argues that a presidential system is more dangerous due to the fact that; Winners and losers are sharply defined for the entire period of the presidential mandate (Linz, 1990: 56), this sharp line between winners and losers increases tension between these two groups and allows the winner to isolate themselves from other political parties (Linz, 1990: 56). Due to this tension and isolation a presidential system is at a higher risk of turning into an authoritarian regime than a parliamentary system. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This gave way to the rise of capitalism and all its follies, debaucheries, and mainly the exploitive nature it excites in people. The novel To Kill A Mocking Bird is primarily based on the problems associated with prejudice and cultural bias during the 30 s. That these themes are explored by Harper Lee it allows for a greater approach to balancing belonging and most of all not belonging. In a recent secondary research done by me in finding credit issues of SMEs, results showed that out of all SMEs, 92.77% have no finance or self finance. This has really affected the growth of SMEs in India. Even after increase in number of venture capitalists/angel investors to protect new ideas, this result shows that time has been exceeded to find a sustainable solution for this issue. It is said that: The mob rushes in where individuals fear to tread by B.F. Skinner in Walden Two.This has proved true, with the arrival of new idea of financing: Crowd Funding . Crowd funding is: the collective cooperation, attention and trust by people who network and pool their money and other resources together, usually via the internet to support ... Thermo 9 Standard Enthalpy of Formation H  f The amount of heat absorbed (endothermic) or released (exothermic) in a reaction in which one mole of a substance is formed from its elements in their standard states, usually at 298 K (25°C). Also called heat of formation. H  = 0 for any element in its standard state (the f natural elemental form at 1 atm or 1 M) at 298 K. EXAMPLES: C(graphite, s) + O 2 (g) H° = 0 kJ/mol rxn CO2 (g) 0 kJ/mol elements in their standard states negative sign heat released exothermic rxn 393.5 kJ/mol product (one mole) H° (CO2 ) = f 393.5 kJ/mol Thermo 10 2H2 (g) + O 2 (g) H° = 0 kJ/mol rxn 0 kJ/mol 2H2 O (g) 483.6 kJ/ 2 mol elements in their standard states product (two moles) divide by 2 to put on per mole basis!! negative sign heat released exothermic rxn H° (H2 O) = f 241.8 kJ/mol Note that I usually will not have you calculate Hfº on homeworks or tests so you generally don t have to worry about normalizing your answer to a per mole basis. Hess s Law Adding Reactions The overall heat of reaction (Hrxn) is equal to the sum of the Hf (products) minus the sum of the Hf (reactants): H° = rxn  (# eqiv) H° (products)  (# eqiv) H° (reactants) f f Therefore, by knowing Hf of the reactants and products, we can determine the Hrxn for any reaction that involves ... • 41. Evaluation Of The Organization s Service Delivery Essay Part I: Strategic Review of the Organization s Service Delivery The National Screening Unit (NSU) was established in 2001. It is an organisation that provides health screening programmes in New Zealand by providing services to people and diagnosing the health issues in order to reassure they are healthy. National Screening Unit divide people into two category; the population who are prone of having any disease (positive screening result) and those who do not have any chance of acquiring a disease (negative screening result) (NSU, 2014). The screening unit programme reveals some conditions and then there is chance to diminish developing any disease or to save someone from dying. National Screening Unit provides services through their five programmes and one quality improvement initiative programme to people. Firstly, the Antenatal HIV Screening (NSU, 2014). The programme is not meant for women who are diagnosed with HIV but the women who are suspected to have the disease to minimise the chance of transferring the virus to the foetus. The main objective is to guarantee that women are offered HIV screening along with their first pregnancy so that transmission of virus can be counteracted. According to New Zealand AIDS Foundation (NZAF) the people can take advantage of their services like free counselling, HIV prevention through information dissemination. • 42. An Analysis Of Edward Hopper s Nighthawks To explain, Nighthawks was painted in 1942, right after the U.S. entered World War II. At the time, the war dominated the culture that Americans lived in, and everything was focused on supporting the war effort. Necessities such as food or clothing were rationed for troops, and neighborhood wide drives were held to collect scrap metal. There were advertisements urging people to work for the patriotic good, and newsreels about battles were shown in theaters before movies (The U.S. Home Front During World War II). This atmosphere of intense focus and dedication was the result of fear. The bombing of Pearl Harbor, which was what prompted the U.S. to become involved in the war, was an invasion of the American consciousness, (Erenberg and Hirsch). ... While he initially started with learning about illustration, he eventually began to study painting and drawing (Levin, Hopper). At the New York School of Art, he was taught by William Merritt Chase, an Impressionist painter, and with Robert Henri, who was a realist (Murphy). Perhaps being exposed to their teachings were what influenced the approach that Hopper took to his artwork He traveled often to many places across Europe, but as mentioned before, Paris was a particular favorite of his. He married Jo in 1923, and she became a huge part of his artistic process. She kept detailed records of his pieces and often modeled for them; in fact, she was the one who posed for the woman in Nighthawks (Levin, Edward Hopper: An Intimate Biography, 349). Hopper struggled as an artist until the 1920s; his work was mostly ignored and unrecognized, and had to make the majority of his sales from etching and prints. He finally achieved critical success after his second one man show, Recent Watercolors by Edward Hopper, in which every single painting was sold (Troyen, 63 64). From there, Hopper began to achieve national exposure and critical acclaim. His artwork was exhibited in many galleries and collections, most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Berger, announced on Thursday the discovery of a new hominin species named Homo Naledi from the fossils found in the Rising Star cave in South Africa. This adds a new branch to the human species family tree. Modern humans, who belong to a specie named Homo sapiens, continue to be until today the only living species in our genus. But 20,000 years ago there were other species of the genus Homo that are now referred as hominins . The discovering of Lee R. The hands and feet look like Homo, but the shoulders and the small brain recall Homo s more ape like ancestors, the researchers said. It s brain was no larger than a baseball, its shoulders and torso primitive, its fingers long and curved, allowing H. naledi to climb and swing from the trees. [...] Its long legs and feet, nearly indistinguishable from those of modern man, allowed it not only to walk upright but also to travel for many miles at a time reported from The Washington Post Amy Ellis Nutt. Scientists also believe that Homo naledi buried their dead. The number of bodies, their location, and the hard access characteristic of the cave makes scientists believe that Naledi species left deliberately bodies in caves as a way of burying them. This has been considered as a behavior limited to modern humans and never seen before in such a primitive human, reported The New York Times. This could have big implications for understanding the origins of modern human behavior. They may have used tools. The hands suggest tool using capabilities as they had extremely curved fingers. There was no man to seek materialistic inventions, to structure their own earthly heaven, build a crumbling success that clings to that which is satanic and forgets their Creator. Before creation, no man spent a lifetime running from the purpose of his creation, seeking his own ungodly selfish end, and die not only rejecting his Savior and God but rejecting the treasure of an eternity in Glory. Could it be that when God planned to create mankind that he knew that man would fall and that his nature would be to seek his own selfish aims? Sure. So tell me, where does Scripture say a woman has the right to do with her own body as she pleases? Where does she have the right to kill an innocent baby? Does she indeed have the right to do as she pleases with her own baby? Where are the child s rights? Is this not demonic? (16) In the words of Rick Jones, Satan worshipers are forced to drink stuff like urine and blood. They perform all kinds of bloody animal sacrifices in their rituals. But it doesn t stop there. Experts estimate that between 50,000 and 60,000 satanic human sacrifices take place each year in the united States alone. That s 170 human sacrifices every single day. • 46. Compare And Contrast Babe Ruth And Al Capone Comparison and Contrast. Babe Ruth and Al Capone The purpose of this essay is to compare the life and experiences of two American in history. I decided to write about two icons of the 1920s Al Capone and Babe Ruth because most of the times we focus more on the people who most likely did not struggle to obtain higher social status, moreover, these two characters grew up in the same period time, but made different choices in life, which I believe it will be interesting to know if two different people went through similar experiences. First, we would highlight their significant details about themselves, secondly, we will look at their similarities and lastly, we will spot their differences. First, who was Babe Ruth; based on the book Babe Ruth by Tracy Brown Collins, his real name was George Herman Ruth the same as his father, he was born on February 6, 1895, in Baltimore, Maryland, but what is interesting is that for many years he believed that he was born on February 07, 1894, until he got his birth certificate when he was required to get his passport and found out his real date of birth. The neighborhood where he was born is known as Pig town it was a poor neighborhood with cramped houses. Ruth s parents were, Kate Schamberger Ruth and George Herman Ruth they owned and run a bar and their house was on the second floor, they had eight children, which Ruth was the oldest, but only him and a sister named Mary survived past infancy since they were poor they couldn t afford ... • 47. Confirmation In The 1910 Encyclical Quam Singulari Of... Confirmation is a sacrament that has become an enigma wrapped in a riddle that ends with an open ended question for teens all over the world. It has become an increasingly tough Sacrament to define and explain to those coming to the sacrament of choice. This book was chosen by most of us, not because of the size but because we have all been called upon to talk to confirmation classes and talking more intelligently and genuinely is what this generation is striving to receive. Since there is so much confusion over this sacrament it is imperative we try to live up to the exhortation in paragraph 59 of Sacrosanctum Concilium. It is therefore of the highest importance that the faithful should easily understand the sacramental signs (SC 59). Timothy Gabrielli s book is meant to give the thinking and theology behind how this sacrament has been shaped by the twentieth century culture. This book is meant to stir up conversation and understanding of the need for more priority from the church and its leaders in the celebration of this sacrament. The main idea running through this book is the 1910 encyclical Quam Singulari of Pius X as the stick of dynamite that blew up the sacrament order. It appears to me it was the light that illuminated the need for a change in the timing of first communion. The unforeseen consequence was the upheaval and confusion around Confirmation since it was not mentioned in the encyclical. The first chapter starts with the quote from the encyclical and ...
