Unemployment In The Us Economy Essay
The U.S. economy has many elements of markets that had seen either an increase or decrease from
activity or production. Beside these other markets (such as gasoline, or airplane seats) there has been a
steady growth of the Real Estate market. Due to these slight increases in the housing market, there can
now be other positive effect throughout the U.S. Firstly, with the steady increase within the housing
market, there s a better chance of an economic growth. Secondly, the unemployment rate will steadily
continue to decline from housing sales. Thirdly, there will be more work opportunities offered.
According to Lam, the housing market has seen and continue to see healthy gains (Lam). Home prices

economy can now see a steady decrease in the percentage rate of unemployment. With slight
improvements in /to/on the housing market , the unemployment rate has fallen to a four years low
in/on 7.7 percent...which was at 8.7 percent a year earlier and peaked at 10 percent in October 2009 ,
four months after the recession ended ( Home Sales , Values Probably Increased: U.S. Economy

declining. And with this, we can notice steady increases in job growth rather than unemployment.
Plus, more and more workers can now feel a sense of confident or security about their own economic
prospects such as buying a home and buying an automobile. Though, with steady job growth many
local businesses may seem to take advantage. For example , Home builders such as KB Home are
benefitting from increasing demand after a one point drop in the jobless rate of / for the past year
helped shore up consumer sentiment and record low mortgage rates made buying more affordable (

Analysis Of The Book The Lottery Essay
When I think of the lottery, I think of a game basically where they choose one number and something
or something gets chosen.
* Setting can best be defined as: B. Thy physical location, time, and social environment in which a
story takes place. In the first paragraph, the setting is described as a beautiful sunny day that is during
the summer. Everything is in bloom and the grass is green. Basically, during this first paragraph, the
author describes it as a perfect day which shows how nice it is and making the reader not realize what
the townspeople are actually going to do, which is the opposite of how this day really is. This sets a
peaceful and happy tone and atmosphere throughout the beginning of the story.
Mood can best be defined as: A. The emotional effect or feeling that a text creates in a reader. The
mood that the villagers seem to be in is a happy and normal mood because they feel that the lottery is
just another normal day. They are neither sad nor angry, just content and used to the tradition of doing
the lottery. They act like nothing is wrong and do not care who dies. I can tell that they are in a content
mood because they don t care about doing the lottery and feel that it is an important part of their lives.
The type of event that the lottery seems to be is a gathering where they chose to kill one person by
stoning them to death.
The possible reason why the people hesitated to help Mr. summers with the box is that they don t want

Week four assignment
Meaning of Emerging Adulthood
Emerging adulthood is the period of life from about age 18 through age 25, during which young
people are exploring the possibilities of their lives and beginning to define themselves as adults, rather
than teenagers. They shared the perception of feeling in between knowing they were pulling clear of
the struggles of adolescence and starting to feel responsible for themselves,, but still closely tied to
their parents and family.
Emerging adulthood can be defined as an:

The caste systems, the practice of arrange marriages, the popular view of human development, the
collectivistic nature of the society, and Indian rites of passage all have their foundation in Hinduism.
Arrange marriage is considered a union or alliance between families and important to continuing the
genetic line. It is believed that such an important decision can t be left for inexperienced youth who
may not follow the rules of marriage. According to Hindu scripture the marriage of Hindu is seen as
the beginning one of the stage in human development. Morality is tied to fulfilling social
responsibilities toward others.
Collectivism is associated with such solidarity and integration in social groups in which people place
the interests of the group above self interests. The traditional Hindu joint family is an example of
collectivism.
Gender relations within the joint family were highly regulated through regular gender segregation.
Women s status in the family was low, based on age of her husband and increased when she bore a
son.
Aspect of emerging adult in Indian culture
Hinduism plays very unique role in Indian culture. As discussed earlier, arrange marriage, caste
system, gender relation plays a part in modern day Indian culture. The following sections will examine
how each of these topics might possibly relate to emerging adulthood in India.
Age of possibilities: Indian culture and economic prospects might create wide

The Economic Theory Of The Mundell-Drinking Model
The Mundell Fleming model is an economic model introduced by Robert Mundell and Marcus
Fleming. This model is an extension of the IS LM model. The traditional IS LM model studies a
closed economy (autarky), whereas the Mundell Fleming model explains an open economy with a
small size (Mundell, 1963). The model explains the mechanism of an economy that is open to foreign
trade for goods and financial assets, and gives economists a structure to analyze macroeconomic
policies. This model describes the relationship between an economy s nominal exchange rate, interest
rate and its output in the short run. With the model, many claim that an economy cannot have an
independent monetary policy, a fixed exchange rate and free capital movement at the same time. This
theory is often called the impossible trinity or the Mundell Fleming trilemma. According to this
theory, a nation has three choices. First, it can have a fixed exchange rate for its currency with another
and let capital flow freely across borders. Second, the country can set its own monetary policy and let
capital flow freely. Third, it can have its own monetary policy and a fixed exchange rate. However, the
country cannot simultaneously have a fixed exchange rate, free flow of capital and its own monetary
policy.
There are three curves in the graph of the Mundell Fleming model. In an open economy, equilibrium is
achieved in the goods market when production is equal to the demand for goods. The
investment/saving (IS) curve represents the value of equilibrium for different interest rates. As higher
interest rates discourage production through its impact on investment, the IS curve is negatively
sloped. The supply and demand for money determine the interest rate in an economy. The liquidity
preference/money supply (LM) curve represents the relationship between money and liquidity. Since
higher income leads to stronger demand for money, interest rate is an increasing function of output
level; hence, the LM curve is positively sloped. The balance of payment (BP) curve shows the
combinations of interest rate and real income where the balance of payment is in equilibrium, which
means that net export must be equal to net capital outflows. The BP curve is usually

Pablo Picasso And George Braque
1. Pablo Picasso and George Braque founded cubism in the early 20th century in Paris. It was an
artwork to be considered as the first radical approach in expressing visual reality. According to Cubist,
any perception of an object was a composite of simultaneous and different perspectives. Cubism tries
to help one understand the world around them in a different way by changing their perspective on a
certain subject. It is an approach of art where a painter takes a real life object and changes it in a
completely different way to the way he or she views it in there mind and how they perceive it. Cubism
used geometric shapes to replace traditional forms. An example of this type of art form is Picasso s

One of the most famous Surrealists was the Spaniard Salvadore Dali, who subverted the sense of
reality in his painting by using near photographic detail in presenting a fantastic and irrational world.
One of his most famous artworks was the persistence of memory . It represented that time was fluid.
What motivated him to draw this picture was the Brie cheese that was melting in front of him while he
was having a picnic.
2. Technological achievements created a second stage of the Industrial Revolution that transformed the
human environment and led people to believe that their material progress would improve world
conditions and solve all human problems. The invention of electricity was a major new form of energy
that proved to be of great value since it could be easily converted into other forms of energy, such as
heat, light, and motion, and moved relatively effortlessly through space by means of transmitting
wires. In 1910, hydroelectric power stations and coal fired steam generating plants enabled entire
districts to be tied into s ingle power distribution system that provided a common source of power for
homes, shops, and industrial enterprises. Electricity procreated a whole series of innovative products
such as the incandescent filament lamp. This opened homes and cities to illumination by electric

Bear Hunt Illustration
The children s book We re Going on a Bear Hunt utilises the switching between black and white
illustrations and full colour effectively. The pages of the story that are in black and white occur when
the family meet an obstacle, such as long wavy grass , and once they have overcome said obstacle the
illustration returns to colour. It repeats in this manner throughout the picture books entirety. In doing
this, the illustrator has emphasised the texts gloominess and foreboding of what the family will have to
do ( we have to go through it ).
The way this text has been structured by combining the aperture, exposition and inciting moment. The
first sentence We re going on a bear hunt tells the reader what the story is going to entail whilst giving
away what future conflict they could be if the family were to find a bear. The exposition is also viewed
here as the reader, with the illustrations help, knows that we (the family) are who is involved and it is
a beautiful day in the country. Conflict rises steadily on every second page revealing a new hurdle the
family has to conquer (mud, lake etc) but is resolved immediately until the climax when the big bear is
found and is not happy to see them. As the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

mind with the motions of wading through a river, trudging their way through mud and the sounds of a
snow storm. This method is more effective at engaging than simply stating the mud was squishy or the
river was wet . On a whole, the text has a good sense of rhythm and musicality. Even though the
sentences are few and short, the receptiveness and use onomatopoeic words helps the story flow. The
sounds of words increase the appeal and strength of a story (3) which is seen to be true in this

I also filled the graduated cyliner with 5.0mL of water, and placed the same bolt under water, and the
volume increased to 6.0mL of water, which is a 1.0mL water displacement equaling the same (1.0mL).
It is also significant to tare the scale to zero when obtaining the weight of certain objects. For instance,
I had to tare the scale after I put a beaker half full of water on the scale; by doing this it keeps the
weight at 0.0g, then I submerge the object to retrieve the volume. Exact measurements are essential.
One must be aware of the upward curve of liquids in the graduated cylinder, and always measure the
low point (bottom) of the meniscus. It would be of good practice to measure at eye level, thus insuring
a more accurate and precise measurement. In addition, I had to make sure that I used the pipet as
opposed to just pouring from a beaker or flask. This also guarantee a more accurate reading, accuracy
and precision is vital in measuring.
During my experiment I ve learned a fairly great deal about temperatures, and how to convert Celsius,
Fahrenheit, and Kelvin. In my observation I have learned that water boils at 100 degree Celsius, and

The Wild World Of Outdoor Gear Ads Some outdoor advertisers will have the reader believe that
humans have been trying to return to the life of a feral predator ever since the day Homo Habilis used
a rock to kill a mole and, in doing so, invented the tool. (Livescience, 2016) Others have portrayed the
great outdoors as this awesome getaway place that is wild enough to have a campfire and necessitate
the use of a camper trailer but not so wild that they aren t able to dress in casual businesswear and
have perfectly groomed hair. Of course, there is a reason for both of these extremes in advertisements.
The range of people who buy outdoor gear is extremely broad. At one end of the spectrum are the
people who wake up from their monotonous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the left corner, written in sharp but not altogether domineering font, are the name of the product (UA

that contributes to the feeling that these guys are silent, undetectable slayers of elk. They are natural
born predators whose weapons are extensions of their very bodies. They all have some kind of Under

Self Regulation And Physiological Regulation
Self regulation is necessary for the development of competencies needed for academic and non
academic success. Self regulation and physiological regulation seen in infancy are the foundations for
the development of complex self regulation skills later in life. The maturation of interactions between
physiological and behavioral responses is necessary for the development of self regulation (Shields et
al., 1994). However, effective sensory processing is necessary for physiological regulation and the
development of self regulation as these skills are developed on the basis of the brain s interpretation of
sensory stimuli from the body and environment.

The spatiotemporal proximity of the stimuli also helps the brain to determine the relevancy of two or
more sensory stimuli from different sensory systems and helps to determine if these stimuli originated
from the same event. The stimuli that are perceived to be from the same event are enhanced and sent
to the higher cortical centers for further processing. The relevant stimuli from two or more different
sensory systems are intensified and receive precedence for cortical attention over the sensory stimuli
coming from a single sensory system. On the contrary, the repetitive stimuli from only one sensory
system that are in temporospatial proximity are suppressed (Stein Rowland, 2011). Multisensory
integration studies show that the temporal binding window (a time length during which two relevant
sensory stimuli are combined) for multisensory integration is wider in children with autism than
typical children. The wider temporal binding window could contribute to a distorted sensory
perception observed in children (Stevenson et al., 2014). Children with autism often have concurrent
SPD.
The impairments in sensory gating or multisensory integration influence the individual s perception of
the world and consequently, his/her emotional, behavioral, and motor responses. Impaired sensory
gating and multisensory mechanisms in children with SPD impacts their ability to attend and respond
to the relevant stimuli, and generate

Rwandan Conflicts And The Effects Of African Conflict In...
05. EFFECTS OF AFRICAN CONFLICTS:
The effects of conflicts in terms of refugee flows into neighbouring countries and the emergence of
internally displaced persons (IDPs) has demonstrated that no African country is an island unto itself .
Refugee camps in the Mano River Union region of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone have served as
source of instability for countries in the region. It is estimated that there are close to three million
refugees in central Africa alone. The camps in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) from the
Rwandan genocide of 1994, remain a source of concern for all the key actors involved in the Great
Lakes region. 200,000 refugees have spilled into Chad as a result of the violent conflict in Sudan s
Darfur region, creating tension along the border. Dadaab(Kenya) hosts people that have fled various
conflicts in the larger Eastern Africa region. Most have come as a consequence of the civil war in
southern Somalia, including both Somalis and members of Somalia s various ethnic minority groups
such as the Bantu. These situations illustrate the need for effective post conflict reconstruction
processes and the institutions to back them up. IDPs and refugees make it difficult for host
communities and displaced communities to settle down and initiate development. Therefore, a central
pillar of post conflict reconstruction is the incorporation of IDPs and refugees into the host community
or the repatriation of refugees, after consideration of possible

The Deposition of Richard II in Richard II by William Shakespeare
Richard II is the first play of Shakespeare s four part
History Tetraology. It tells the story of Richard II s deposition and Bolingbroke s rise to power. There
are numerous reasons for Richard s fall. He went off to war and left his kingdom vaulnerable. Richard
disregarded the advice of his elders. He even went so far as to steal Bolingbroke s inheritance. As
Richard lost the support of the nobles and lords, Bolingbroke gained their support. Bolingbroke used
this support to depose king Richard II.
After the banishment of Bolingbroke, Richard quickly gets back to business and makes plans to go to
war in Ireland. There are rebels in Ireland and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bad omen immediately seems to come true. Upon Richard s seizure of Gaunt s land,
Northumberland, Ross, and Willoughby all decide to turn against him. This action also spurs his loyal
uncle York to begin a process of self questioning that will eventually lead him to Bolingbroke s side.
In scene 2 of act 2 Green enters with news that Bolingbroke has landed in England and has an army
with him. This is unfortunate news for Richard, since he is in Ireland with his royal army and no one
is present in England to challenge Bolingbroke. The bad news doesn t stop there. As Bolingbroke
marched across England, many other English lords have joined his army. Northumberland, his son
Henry Percy, Lord Ross, Lord Willoughby, and other lords have defected. In Act 3 Lord Salisbury
enters and delivers even more bad news to Richard. The day before, Richard s army of Wales heard
that Richard was dead. They dispersed and fled to Bolingbroke s side. Richard now must deal with the
fact that he has no army. Act 3 is a point of no turning back for Bolingbroke. Bushy and Green, two of
Richard s most loyal followers, are executed. This demonstrates the escalation of events that could
lead to war. Richard s followers have either left his side or have been killed. Bolingbroke is left with
no choice but to continue his path towards the throne. In scene 4 of act 3, Queen Isabel learns the truth
of what is happening. She overhears gardeners talking

Similarities Between Maole And Juno And The Paycock
Juno and the Paycock is a tragicomic play written by Sean O Casey. It is set in the 1920s in Dublin,
right after the outbreak of the Irish Civil War.
The scene opens on a two room apartment in Dublin. The furniture and other belongings are sparse
and worn out, revealing the family s financial troubles immediately. The act begins with Juno Boyle
and her daughter Mary discussing the murder of their neighbor Mrs. Tancred s son, written up in the
morning newspaper. Mary s brother Johnny irritably tells them to stop reading and leaves the room.
Juno is waiting for her husband, Jack Boyle to come home for breakfast, knowing that he was out
drinking.

When Mary finds out that she is pregnant and her fiancé has left her, Boyle only thinks about how this
will affect him and his reputation. This shows how selfish Boyle really is because he cannot even
consider his own daughter s feelings when she is vulnerable and scared. In contrast, Juno defends her
daughter against Boyle and attempts to point out to Boyle how difficult this must be for their daughter
and the repercussions she will have will affect her the rest of her life. When Johnny is killed, Boyle
has no idea because he is busy drinking his troubles away. Johnny s death affects Juno tremendously.
Juno has a spiritual transformation as she realizes how inconsiderate and selfish she was when Mrs.
Tancred s son died. Juno is now in the same position as Mrs. Tancred and is extremely remorseful for
her actions and lack of compassion. It took this great tragedy for Juno to realize that she needed to
leave her husband in order for her life and her love one s lives to turn around. Juno would leave her
husband and run away with Mary to help raise Mary s child. Again we see how Juno is extremely
caring, choosing to help her daughter raise her baby in the worst

The Department Of Juvenile Justice
The Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) appointed a new commissioner at the beginning of 1983, at
this time the department was facing many organizational issues. The state legislature had previously
passed legislation affecting the environment in which the organization operated affecting the
population it was originally intending to serve. Internally the DJJ faced many challenges involving
organizational goals, routines, engaged staff, and new leadership. It is recommended that the
organization take actions to adjust to the environment and align its goals with the new legislature. The
newly appointed commissioner should adjust her management towards a task orientated leadership
until the critical director and staff positions are fulfilled. Once the department directors are in place,
directives can be established to develop department routines. Hired management can then enforce
standard operation procedures as needed to optimize the performance of the organization.
Service Population and State Regulation
A change in service population at Spofford was a result of new legislation passed in 1978. Public
concern and legislature in New York had a significant impact on the Department of Juvenile Justice;
Spofford was to absorb serious juvenile offenders due to the Juvenile Offender Act. This resulted in a
shift of the service population from status offender to include more serious juvenile offenders (Varley,
1987, p. 6). This change in legislation and youth population

Jay Gatsby and the American Dream
Jay Gatsby and the American Dream The Great Gatsby is a very famous novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald
that goes back to the 1920 s. The book is narrated by a man who actually witnessed the events and
took part in these events, and his name is Nick Carraway. Through his narration, we learn about a man
whose real man is James Gatz, but he goes by the name Jay Gatsby. He continuously calls people old
sport. (Fitzgerald, 161) He lives in a mansion on West Egg near where Nick lives. He was raised on a
farm with a poor family in North Dakota. This makes us wonder how he rose to having such fortune.
Well he did do it illegally, as in this time period; it was one way people made money if they could not
do it any other way. As his life progressed, he became interested in other women; we find out later that
he really loved Daisy Buchanan for a while. Daisy is a sweet beautiful young lady that Tom married
when Jay was looking to get an education. He would throw parties all the time to achieve one ultimate
goal and that was to get Daisy to fall in love with him, and achieving his version of the American
Dream with Daisy is a goal that Jay wanted to achieve but there were a couple of obstacles in the way.
Gatsby s small goal in order to achieve his ultimate goal was to become wealthy, and he did with bad
intentions. When Tom had already been married to Daisy, it increased the determination of Jay to get
her. It does not make a lot of sense, but this is what he wanted to do in order to

The Movie The Wolf On Wall Street Essay
Daring to Defy Drug Abuse
If you have ever seen the movie The Wolf on Wall Street, there is no doubt you have seen the effects
drugs can have. Leonardo DiCaprio portrays a high strung stock broker reliant on a multitude of
illegal drugs to keep up with his hectic life style. His addiction gets so severe that at one point in the
movie, he is lying on the floor, unable to move due to the drugs effects on his body. Even though the
movie is set in the 90 s, a decade infamous for its use of drugs, today, drug usage and abuse has never
been more of an issue. According to Alice Park (2016), More people died of drug overdoses in 2014 in
the U.S. than in any other year (p.49). What people fail to realize is that drug abuse effects more than
just the individual that uses them. The loved ones trying to support the user, the community the user is
in, can all be affected by drug abuse. In fact, all members of society are affected by the abuse of drugs.
In short, no one benefits from drug abuse. In the words of the Nation Institute of Drug Abuse, Drug
abuse is a major public health problem that impacts society on multiple levels. Directly or indirectly,
every community is affected by drug abuse and addiction, as is every family. Drugs take a tremendous
toll on our society at many levels ( Magnitude, 2016).
Obviously, drugs abuse has the most effect on the individual. Drugs of any sort have pronounced
impacts on a user s personal life, mental and physical health as well as their

Public Private Divide Structure The Priorities Of Human...
Public private divide structure the priorities of human rights issues in Afghanistan. The private sphere
is traditional and immune to outside interferences. The public sphere is subject to interference from
the outsiders. The United States government, like many other governments, most always has a hidden
agenda when they choose what issues to privatize and what issues to publicize. American troops tend
to ignore private issues such as domestic abuse and women s education in Afghanistan because these
issues are seen as private issues; however, when there is something to gain from interfering it becomes
a public issue. Sharbat Gula is a young Afghan girl who for seventeen years was only a picture,
lacking a name and a story in the American media. Seventeen years later the photographer, Steve
McCurry, returned searching for this young girl to publicize her previous unimportant story. He
returned to publicize the violation to women s right to education in Afghanistan. The hidden agenda
was to show the American people that Afghan women needed saving from their culture and society.
Yet, there was no mention that the war that the United States is a part of is what ruined these women s
futures. The United States troops in Afghanistan rescued a brutally tortured and abused Afghan
woman named Aisha Bibi after she was left to die in the mountains by the Taliban. At first glance the
American audience see the American troops as heroes, however, when closely analyzed a hidden

relative purity of their Spanish language. Its population is heavily mestizo (of mixed European and

My Group Presentation During Week 10
My group presentation during week 10 was around the topic of women at work and more specifically
maternity and paternity leave. A common perception of teamwork is that you either have a group that
that works well together and finishes the assignment ahead of time or you have group where there is
little communication and the assignment is a last minute activity resulting in a grade that is truly
reflective of the effort and time taken. Fortunately for myself the group that was formed for this
assignment worked well together and produced an exceptional presentation. I enjoy teamwork as it
allows for ideas to be bounced off one another and a better understanding of issues and problems to be
well comprehended.
As well as being a chance to incorporate individuals talents within presentation new skills and the
development of existing skills. Personally I feel as though I have a good level of skill for presenting an
idea however I lack in the preparation are of a presentation I prefer to present something to an
audience rather than find and conduct research for a presentation. However the other people in my
group were good at finding information and crafting a brief outline around the presentation. This
worked quite well for our group as we had a couple of confident speakers whom brought the
presentation together. Where others succeeded in producing and finding evidence to back up our stated
methods in which work should be done.

The Assassination Of Brutus And Mark Antony
After the death of Julius ceaser both Brutus and Mark Antony both delivered a speech to the people of
Rome. Brutus admitted to the people of Rome right away that he was involved in the assassination of
Ceaser. Brutus explained to the crowd that Ceaser was a very good friend of his and he didn t
assassinate King Ceaser in attempt to take control of Rome himself or for someone else to take power:
he Explained that he was involved with the assassination because he feared that Caesar was more
focused on his own agenda rather then focused on what was best for the nation and his people. Brutus
explained that he noticed signs of a tyrant in Caesar early on and feared he was only getting worse and
eventually would put all of Rome under his tyranny.

William Faulkner was Born in New Albany, Mississippi on September 25, 1897 to Murry and Maud
Butler Falkner. Throughout his young life he was taken care of from birth until he moved out by his
caretaker, an African American woman named Caroline Barr. William called her Mammy . Barr was
one of the most influential people in his life. She was fundamental to his development in his early
years. He said later on that it was a privilege to have known her and that she was the one who taught
him right from wrong and sparked his interest in the politics of sexuality and race. Faulkner s

Gender Aspects Of The Sailor Moon And Sailor Moon
Commercials on television for superheroes always had them men doing the saving and then the
women needing to be saved. The very few girl superheroes that were well known were Wonder
Woman, Super Girl and Storm. However, in anime there are a bunch of girls fighting to save the world
and saving the men. Sailor Moon is on top of the list when it comes to girl power, being released in
1992, and Sailor Moon Crystal was released in 2014. Sailor moon was seen by some critics as
sexualized, but others argue that it isn t as bad as some of the other animes that were released after
Sailor Moon. Girl superheroes in anime were a mix of being sexy and cute, and the sexy in Sailor
Moon was just a bunch of short skirts, high heels, and a small amount of cleavage. Sailor Moon
challenged the norms in Japan when it came to gender roles, sexual orientation and presentation of
womanhood.
At an early age, girls were pushed to follow gender roles especially when it was in the early 1990s. It
was something different to see on the television screens girls fighting and challenging gender roles. In
Sailor Moon, the audience witness a reverse role with the girls being the heroes, even though the male
character Tuxedo Mask can also be a hero, his role was minimal because it was the sailor scouts that
did most, if not all of the work. Victoria Newsom in her critical essay said

The Civil Rights Movement In The 1960 s
How did our country become not segregated and fair to African Americans? The answer to that is the
Civil Rights Movement that took place in the 1960s. This movement ignited when many African
Americans rebelled against unfair laws. One of those events was when Rosa Parks wouldn t give up
her seat on a public bus to a white person. What we forgot was Rosa wasn t the first to rebel against
bus segregation; 9 months before, Claudette Colvin refused to give up her seat in the same city,
Montgomery, Alabama. Civil rights were a huge problem back in the 60s. African Americans were
separated from whites because whites consider them as dirty. According to Mack Lewis, author of The
Girl who got Arrested , on public buses, African Americans were required to give their seat to a white
person and move to the back, or stand up. They were so segregated that it got to the point of them
having separate movie theaters, soda machines, water fountains, and even bathrooms. (Ellen Levine)
When Claudette Colvin did a presentation for school about the constitutional rights for all Americans,
she realized that African Americans were being treated unfairly, and she was going to do something
about it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Petruchio Monologue
Studying The Taming of the Shrew through performance led me to understand the power of language
and importance of speech. [The play was a comedy, so I had a lot of fun with Petruchio s outspoken
character and exaggerated persona. In order to perform as him, I needed to understand his underlying
motivations.] Petruchio is defined by two motivations: wealth and dominance. His main motive to
wed Katharina is to gain wealth, for the dowry he will receive once they are married. This is shown by
his emphasis and haste to ask for the dowry when he first meets Katharina s father. He asks, Then tell
me, if I get you daughter s love, / What dowry shall I have with her to wife ( )? Baptista responds,
After me death the one half of my lands, / And in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He demeans Katharina through sexual innuendos. For instance, when Katharina calls him a nice stool,
Petruchio responds with Thou hast hit it: come sit on me (2.1.209). His quick response with a sexual
innuendo shows his imperviousness to her insults. That is why I chose to say this conceited and loud
to show that he is pleased about his swift counter Katharina s biting remarks. At the end of the
encounter between Katharina and Petruchio, Petruchio ends with a speech declaring that they will be
married, no matter how much she opposes it or defies him. He says in his monologue, For I am he am
born to tame you Kate, / And bring you from a wild Kate to a Kate / Conformable as other household
Kates (2.1.291 293). Here, Petruchio is seen as declaring control Katharina. That is why I chose to say
this in an assertive manner, staring directly into the eyes of Nabiha, who was acting as Katharina,
while slowly and confidently walking towards her, backing her into a corner. I emphasized wild and
conformable to convey the dominating role of Petruchio. This also foreshadows the alarming lengths

Triad
Our nation s nuclear weapons are very complex and large organization system. The main
responsibility falls on the executive branch of the government. There are multiple departments within
the executive branch that handle this. They are the Departments of Defense, Energy, Commerce, State,
and Homeland Security. The Department of Defense oversees all of the nation s armed forces and this
includes those that are specially trained to handle nuclear devices. During the height of the Cold War
the leaders of the Department of Defense, constructed a plan to be able to fend off any nuclear attack
from the Soviet Union. They came up with what is known as the Triad. This Triad is a combination of

They are responsible for the negotiation of nuclear armament treaties. The main goal of the
Department is to limit the manufacturing and spread of nuclear weapons, this practice is known as
nonproliferation (White House). This Department has recently been in the news for a proposed nuclear
deal with Iran. The deal has yet to be voted upon by Congress, but it is becoming increasingly
unpopular with high ranking military officers (Washington Post). The Department of Homeland

Similarities Between Tattoos And Motion Pictures
Tattoos versus Motion Picture
Arguably what comes to mind when a person is intrigued by a tattoo, is curiosity behind the purpose
of it, and most importantly the reasoning. Like a motion picture or short film, there has to be a story
behind it, otherwise there would be confusion. Although tattoos and motion pictures both share many
similarities in story lines, genres, and depth, they have a plethora of differences.
Undoubtedly, these two concepts share story lines. Moreover, the process in development is very
different. Tattoos have a story line that is commonly very sentimental, the meaning is real and deep,
which is why an individual permanently places such kinds of expression on their skin. Although, not
all tattoos are this way, some tattoos might not have any meaning and have been placed upon the skin
for no logical reason. Tattoos have a very different development process, and often mean more to
individuals than movies. Often times when someone is watching a preview to a new movie, their
involvement falls deeper the more they find themselves fascinated by the story line. The story line is
what draws them in, and the more it relates personally, or strikes their imagination on a pathway of
fascination, the more likely they are to continue watching that genre of movie. Therefore, movies only
come to an in mind standpoint, although it has a story line, the display is not nearly as permanent as a
tattoo would be considered.
Arguably both areas have increasingly changed

EBay Bids for Structured Change. Case Study Answers
EBay started out with a U form, or functional, design. What changes in that design have already
occurred as a result of the company s growth? What kind of changes seem likely for the future?
One of the first things we need to look at is what the u form design is. The U form organization (U
stands for unity), also called functional design, relies almost exclusively on the functional approach to
departmentalization . The U form design is used to implement a single product strategy. Because of
the emphasis on functional activities, coordination is extremely important (edugov). Advantages: The

In your opinion, what changes should be made to accommodate further overseas expansion?
As eBay expands into more foreign markets, eBay will have to further evolve and allow for a more
country centralized execution of its policies and manager control. I can certainly see that in countries
that have a high religious influence, such as the Muslim dominated hierarchy, religious dictates will
control how eBay presents itself. In the Koran it states that you are not allowed to profit off another.
This holds true in examples like banking. However in some democracies eBay is being stifled in its
ability to require payments thru PayPal, as the book states an example of Australian government,
curtailing eBay s ability to require payment thru PayPal (Griffin, 2012). To further accommodate
expansion into these diversified markets eBay will of course have to follow religious precepts,
government regulations and allow for more targeted products. It would be unwise of eBay to allow
many items that are permitted in democracies and free thinking countries to be purchased in a more
conservative nation. In the conservative nations, the potential buyers can still buy off eBay USA. This
type of targeted selling of their system has created eBay of Canada, eBay of USA, and eBay of
Australian, eBay of Belgium and so on (whoweare). Because of eBay s presence in over 30 countries,
yet PayPal is only used in 16 countries,

They are key constituents of all biological systems, and perform a great variety of functional and

The most obviously demonstrated and expressed message of Makes small work of BIG spills
contradicts the implicit message that sure, it makes small work of big spills, but paper waste adds
pollution to our population versus using cloth towels. The hidden message of complication within our
society falls short of the intended message; however, the pollution factor has to be taken into
consideration before buying such a fast and easy acting product. Sure, for some, that message would

the deciding factor in whether or not they purchase it. Bounty paper towels have been commonly

a way that sets the audience up for an ultimatum. You choices are to either buy the paper towels or

Turing, Searle, and Artificial Intelligence
The conditions of the present scenario are as follows: a machine, Siri*, capable of passing the Turing
test, is being insulted by a 10 year old boy, whose mother is questioning the appropriateness of
punishing him for his behavior. We cannot answer the mother s question without speculating as to
what A.M. Turing and John Searle, two 20th century philosophers whose views on artificial
intelligence are starkly contrasting, would say about this predicament. Furthermore, we must provide
fair and balanced consideration for both theorists viewpoints because, ultimately, neither side can be
correct in this scenario. But before we compare hypothetical opinions, we must establish operant
definitions for all parties involved. The characters in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The answer is no because we cannot accurately determine, from the given information, whether Siri*
understands what she is saying on a deep, emotional level, one requirement for personhood that both
Turing and Searle deem necessary (Searle; Turing). We have no method of measuring Siri* s level of
understanding outside of the Turing test, which Searle rejects as an accurate measurement of linguistic
understanding. And again, he also rejects the idea that any electronic machine can possess such
understanding whatsoever, so Siri* s response is essentially meaningless. Part D: Answering to Amy
In response to Amy s initial question, it would be unwise to immediately present either Turing s or
Searle s answer as a correct response. Similarly, it would be unwise to declare a winning philosophy in
this scenario, as the correct philosophy depends on the correct judging criteria, which we lack. Clearly,
if Siri* is a person, or judged to be a person based on certain criteria, then Turing is correct in his
assessment; Amy should punish her child. If Siri* is not a person, then Searle is correct, and Amy
would not have significant reason for punishment. But in this scenario, no judgment criteria are
explicitly being applied, nor is one school of thought clearly more appropriate than the other.
Therefore, our only hope of declaring which of the two theories is correct in this scenario, thereby
correctly answering Amy s initial question, is to hypothesize judging

east. She would also accept nothing in return for the love that she and her husband share and that no
power would be able to destroy it, her love to her husband is indestructible and eternal.
Nor ought but love from thee recompense
Thy love is such I can no way repay,
The heavens reward thee manifold I pray.

Essay On Foreign Exchange Student Experience
My body was experiencing many mixed emotions; our school has hosted many foreign exchange
students in the past, but never have they lived in our home. Yes, we were only going to be hosting
them for a week, but I was still feeling this certain form of anxiety as I was driving to the school to
meet our two Chinese exchange students. I did not know what to expect, so my mind went straight to
thinking of the Chinese culture. At the time, I thought that the average child in China lived a life
similar to my American childhood; oh, what little did I know.
I began forming theories of what the Chinese students would be like. I pondered about what their
interests may be, Maybe they enjoy playing ping pong or other sports, or maybe they do not even care
for athletics? Maybe they enjoy American music? Would if their English is to the point where they
cannot even understand American music? Then my communication with them might be limited, or
worse, non existent! My mind was racing through various of possibilities; it is quite intriguing what
the mind can do when feelings clash with brain impulses because so much was going through my head
I could barely focus on the concept of driving, but eventually I renewed my focus and safely arrived at
the church. However, these same thoughts began to storm my head as I was exiting the car and
walking toward the doors of the church. Once I realized that the Chinese group had already started
orientation I decided to observe from the back of the auditorium. As I studied the group of Chinese
students I realized that I did not have any clue what the two boys looked like, nor did I know their
names. This is where the guessing game began, from a distance I began to try to guess which two
Chinese boys were assigned to go home with me and my family; meanwhile, one of the Chinese
teachers was ranting at the students in Chinese. I did not have a clue what the Chinese teacher was
saying to the students, nor did I care at the moment, I was too busy with my thoughts of observance.
Eventually it was finally time to meet our new Chinese exchange students, Jerry and Sheldon. My
thoughts again began to roam around all through my head as my brother and my mom, along with
myself, introduced

If you have recently heard about the benefits of essential oils, then you might be wondering where to
buy essential oils? In fact, you might also be wondering whether they can be purchased at the health
food store. The truth is, you can buy them from companies, health food stores and even online.
However, before you actually purchase them, there are several things you should consider.
Things to consider when buying essential oils
Before you find out where to buy these oils and start looking for them, there are two things you will
have to consider:
What do you want to use the oil for?
What grade of the oils do you need?

What Grade of Essential Oil do you need?
It is recommended that you use only therapeutic grade essential oils that are 100% pure if you intend
to use the oils for your animals, children and your family. You will also have to make sure that you are
buying pure therapeutic oils if want to use the oils for healing or alternate health practices.
No solvents are used when producing therapeutic grade oils, which are strictly distilled and tested.
Producing them is an expensive process so the number of high quality suppliers is quite less. So, along
with determining where to buy essential oils, you should also make sure the ones you are buying are
100% pure and therapeutic grade.
When you are in search of these oils, which company is reputable and the availability of wholesale
programs, are among the things you should consider. If you intend to use a large volume every month,
then you could save a lot of money through a wholesale program. The benefits of these oils are quite

Woman Hollering Creek Myth Analysis
Throughout history, myth has taught lessons, explained phenomena, and perpetuated common
knowledge and thought. Myth is threaded into history all over the world, and along the border of the
United States and Mexico is no different. In Woman Hollering Creek, Sandra Cisneros reinscribes
myths that have perpetuated the patriarchy, breaking down stereotypes and the narratives that we have
come to associate with them. This essay will explore the roles of La Llorona and La Malinche in
Woman Hollering Creek and Never Marry A Mexican. These myths are inscribed within Mexican
American women and Cisneros combats these archetypes by retelling them. The reinscription of these
myths by Sandra Cisneros gives up hope that there is more than just the fate of the mourning mother,
the colonized victim, and the virgin. The first myth is that of La Llorona. La Llorona is one of the
most prevalent myths in Latinx culture. Although there are several retellings of the myth, it is said that
after finding out about her husband s infidelity La Llorona drowned their children and spends her days
stuck in between the spirit world and this world, grieving their loss and searching for children to
replace her own. This myth is often told by Mexican parents to keep their children from wandering out
at night, but this story reinforces the notion of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Malinche is the tragic story of Malinali, an indigenous woman who was sold as a slave to Hernan

forced to bear his child, MartĂn, who would become the first Mexican, as half indigenous and half
Spanish. She is oftentimes blamed for the fall of the indigenous world in Mexico, because she enabled
Cortés and his soldiers by translating for them, although she did not have a

Why Is Food Coma A Myth Or Reality
Food Coma: Myth or reality????
Almost everyone is acquainted with the experience of finishing a big meal and the accompanying state
of drowsiness or lassitude. How many times we have taken resolutions to not over indulge in our
favorite food in the family occasions, celebratory meals or just regular heavy meals. Those are the
times when a couch seems more appealing and dozing off is the best possible idea. Sounds like a
familiar experience?
This phenomenon is called as food coma. No, one does not literally goes into a coma but it will
certainly seem like an individual is about to enter into one.

Myths
Drop in blood flow from brain and oxygen delivery
Mostly people believe there is a drop in oxygen and blood flow after a meal which leads to after meal
drowsiness and sleepiness. But this is wrong because even though there is an increase in blood flow
due to passage of food in the gastrointestinal tracts, it is generally from the skeletal muscle tissue and
also by increasing the rate of blood pumped per minute by the heart.
Tryptophan present in the Turkey
Popular myth among everyone is that turkey is very rich in tryptophan which when consumed during a
Thanksgiving Day result in more than usual sleepiness and food coma. This is because tryptophan
produces serotonin which is associated with relaxation and sleepiness. However, the amount of
tryptophan present in turkey is similar to chicken, beef, and other meats. The quantity required to raise
brain serotonin level cannot be achieved by eating servings of turkey.

Essay on Comparing the Atkins Diet and the Zone Diet
Comparing the Atkins Diet and the Zone Diet
The Atkins and the Zone Diet both view carbohydrates as one of the key nutrients in attaining a
reasonable weight. The Atkins Diet reduces one s intake of carbohydrates to the bare minimum
substituting them with high fats and proteins. Insulin levels within the body are maintained at a
constant level with these foods. But many skeptics do not believe that the Atkins choice of food is
very healthy. The Zone Diet believes in more of a balance of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins which
affects the body as a whole. Critics believe the Zone Diet to be healthy but do not necessarily believe
in the achievement of a better body system. The Atkins and the Zone Diets differ in some ways and ...

This regimen consists of 40% carbohydrates, 30% fats, and 30% protein. A small amount of protein or
the size of one s palm at every meal is adequate along with twice the size of the protein portion for
carbohydrates such as vegetables, fruits, or beans. Fats such as olives, nuts, and avocados can
complete the meal. The higher proportion of carbohydrates is okay because the fat helps to slow down
the rate of absorption of carbohydrates into the body (www.webmd.com). The ratios of nutrients in
both the Atkins and the Zone Diets determine how the body reacts and loses weight.
The proportion of foods in the Atkins and the Zone Diets lead to a certain desirable reaction within the
body. The low carbohydrate Atkins Diet focuses on the reduction of insulin levels. Insulin is a
hormone the body releases to move the broken down carbohydrates or glucose from the blood into the
muscles and fat cells for storage. Once the glucose levels are normal again, the excess insulin causes
the body to crave more carbohydrates until the insulin levels become steady again. The Atkins diet
stresses eating high fat and protein because these nutrients do not create the insulin response that
carbohydrates do. The body then learns to use the stored fat as an energy source rather than the
carbohydrates. By severely limiting carbohydrate intake the Atkins Diet almost eliminates the hunger
roller coaster (www.webmd.com) caused by insulin levels. The

The Anatomy Of The Anthropology Department That I Found
My name is Sean Keefe and I am an intern for the recently deceased Harvey Manfrenjensenjen. While
sorting through samples I came across 6 hominin skulls that lack analysis. In this project, I am going
to explain and talk about the six skulls in the Anthropology Department that I found. To do this, I will
use what I have learned in lecture, as well as numerous outside sources to describe three defining
characteristics for each skull. Additionally, I will provide necessary information about each skull if
needed. After that, I will put the fossil samples in evolutionary order form the oldest to the youngest.
Lastly, I will include a family tree that shows age comparison and ancestral relationships between the
homonids. The first skull that I observed in the Anthropology Department belongs to Australopithecus
robustus. Australopithecus robustus was first named by the eminent Dr. Robert Broom. The A.
robustus leftovers generally come from three different sites: Swartkrans (largest), Dreimulen, and
Kromdraai. One of the major problems with these South African sites is dating, but generally, robustus
remains can be safely placed from 2.0 1.0 myr, and possibly even earlier. Australopithecus robustus
has many features that are specifically distinct to A. robustus. This skull has very thick jaws; small
incisors, canines, large, molar like premolars and very large molars. The height of Australopithecus
robustus is between 1.1 1.3 meters, and the weight is between 40 80 Kg. The

Negative Effects Of Photoshop On Teens
The Effects of Photoshop on Teens
To stop the negative impact of Photoshop on teenagers, photographers should only use Photoshop for
the good of photography and not to give false images of the social norm. In opposition, many would
state that Photoshop provides beauty and promotes financial in marketing. The primary objective is to
get money for false looks. American culture is highly obsessed with beauty. Everywhere you go there
are advertisements and misleading images. Whether it s for models or food alterations are used to sell
the image. Models appearances on these photos are admired and sought after from the society. Jessica
Walker stated in an interview I do not think Photoshop is bad I use it to make my photos better, but I
don t like what people use it for...The user and its intentions are bad not the program itself (Walker).
The issue is defined as the images being presented giving a false perception. These photos have been
tampered with by professionals, in which they think that their model is what society wants to see. Both
genders are being affected by the medias view of body image. However, women and teenagers
changed the most. Teenage girls have continuously been presented with images that they are supposed
to look like, which is unrealistic images. Photoshop causes some teens to have self esteem issues and
many other disorders.
In opposition, many would state that Photoshop gives beauty and promotes financial in marketing.
America is surrounded by money. For instance, studies show that America s primary export is
entertainment, while other countries exports include textile, spices, etc. In opposition, many other
countries are putting a stop to the false advertisement of models. For example, France has proposed a
bill asking editors to put a health warning on ads or photos that have been retouched, so that women
know that their bodies can no look that way. Editors of magazines portray their models as being thin,
young, and full faced, which are from technology, not the actual model. For example, when Meghan
Trainor appeared on a past cover of a magazine, she seemed to have a bigger hip than usual. She then
took this issue to the media and put the actual picture side by side. Many editorials

ergonomic. Environmental Hazards Mining is a dangerous occupation, and many of these dangers are
associated with the environment in which the miners worked. One environmental hazard evident in
this case was the dangers the miners encountered while working underground. While working in this
type of situation there are always threats of cave ins and because the environment is underground there
would be a lack of natural light. Situational Hazards Situational hazards are known as unsafe

Management was not allowing adequate time for maintenance work. It was reported that two months
before the explosion a maintenance worker could not complete repair work on mining equipment
because it was needed for work underground. Because management allowed broken equipment to be
involved in dangerous mining operations this would be a human hazard. Maintenance workers were
also required to modify machinery in order to conform to safety regulations. This is a human hazard
because workers are required to work with machinery that could possibly be dangerous and employees
maybe using the machinery improperly. Management did not encourage the development of an
occupational health and safety committee. The company never encouraged the committee to meet and
discuss safety concerns and management was not involved with the committee. There were also
problems with mining inspections, government investigations into this problem produced
irregularities. Many orders issued by mining inspectors were not carried out. Management and mining
inspectors not ensuring that safety standards were followed is a human hazard. 2. How does the case
illustrate the statement, poor occupational health and safety is a high cost item? Distinguish between
direct and indirect costs in your answer. This explosion is a prime example of what could happen if

Critical Review On Prison And Prison

Dr.John Hill
August 23, 2014 Abstract
To many convicts in the United States the jail or prison is often times the first resort of punishing.
Legal teams do not research sentencing options; they like to sentence an offender to the easiest place
to do their time which is the jail. The jail has the amenities that an inmate seeks or wants. They can get
a shower, a warm meal, and some clothes free of charge and get released the next day. If they go to
prison, the inmate can get all those perks, and get released years later. These inmates that come to
prison for small crimes, are causing the prison populations to expand person by person. The cells are
not designed more than two people , and the shower can only one body in it at a time and of course the
toilet is only designed for buttock at time.
Jail and Prison should be the last resort, but in modern society it is the first resort
The Introduction
In today s society, there are a variety of sentencing options for the convicted felon. Or the first time
criminal who has no prior convictions, but because of going to a party, he or she does something they
would not have done and lands in the custody of a state penal system. Since there are varieties of
sentencing options available to a potential detainee, then why does the United States have so many
people stacked up top on one another in its penal systems? The

Analysis Of The Book The Lottery Essay When I think of the lottery, I think of a game basically where they choose one number and something or something gets chosen. * Setting can best be defined as: B. Thy physical location, time, and social environment in which a story takes place. In the first paragraph, the setting is described as a beautiful sunny day that is during the summer. Everything is in bloom and the grass is green. Basically, during this first paragraph, the author describes it as a perfect day which shows how nice it is and making the reader not realize what the townspeople are actually going to do, which is the opposite of how this day really is. This sets a peaceful and happy tone and atmosphere throughout the beginning of the story. Mood can best be defined as: A. The emotional effect or feeling that a text creates in a reader. The mood that the villagers seem to be in is a happy and normal mood because they feel that the lottery is just another normal day. They are neither sad nor angry, just content and used to the tradition of doing the lottery. They act like nothing is wrong and do not care who dies. I can tell that they are in a content mood because they don t care about doing the lottery and feel that it is an important part of their lives. • 5. The Economic Theory Of The Mundell-Drinking Model The Mundell Fleming model is an economic model introduced by Robert Mundell and Marcus Fleming. This model is an extension of the IS LM model. The traditional IS LM model studies a closed economy (autarky), whereas the Mundell Fleming model explains an open economy with a small size (Mundell, 1963). The model explains the mechanism of an economy that is open to foreign trade for goods and financial assets, and gives economists a structure to analyze macroeconomic policies. This model describes the relationship between an economy s nominal exchange rate, interest rate and its output in the short run. With the model, many claim that an economy cannot have an independent monetary policy, a fixed exchange rate and free capital movement at the same time. This theory is often called the impossible trinity or the Mundell Fleming trilemma. According to this theory, a nation has three choices. First, it can have a fixed exchange rate for its currency with another and let capital flow freely across borders. Second, the country can set its own monetary policy and let capital flow freely. Third, it can have its own monetary policy and a fixed exchange rate. However, the country cannot simultaneously have a fixed exchange rate, free flow of capital and its own monetary policy. There are three curves in the graph of the Mundell Fleming model. In an open economy, equilibrium is achieved in the goods market when production is equal to the demand for goods. The investment/saving (IS) curve represents the value of equilibrium for different interest rates. As higher interest rates discourage production through its impact on investment, the IS curve is negatively sloped. The supply and demand for money determine the interest rate in an economy. The liquidity preference/money supply (LM) curve represents the relationship between money and liquidity. Since higher income leads to stronger demand for money, interest rate is an increasing function of output level; hence, the LM curve is positively sloped. The balance of payment (BP) curve shows the combinations of interest rate and real income where the balance of payment is in equilibrium, which means that net export must be equal to net capital outflows. The BP curve is usually ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is an approach of art where a painter takes a real life object and changes it in a completely different way to the way he or she views it in there mind and how they perceive it. The pages of the story that are in black and white occur when the family meet an obstacle, such as long wavy grass , and once they have overcome said obstacle the illustration returns to colour. The maturation of interactions between physiological and behavioral responses is necessary for the development of self regulation (Shields et al., 1994). The relevant stimuli from two or more different sensory systems are intensified and receive precedence for cortical attention over the sensory stimuli coming from a single sensory system. On the contrary, the repetitive stimuli from only one sensory system that are in temporospatial proximity are suppressed (Stein Rowland, 2011). Multisensory integration studies show that the temporal binding window (a time length during which two relevant sensory stimuli are combined) for multisensory integration is wider in children with autism than typical children. The wider temporal binding window could contribute to a distorted sensory perception observed in children (Stevenson et al., 2014). Children with autism often have concurrent SPD. The state legislature had previously passed legislation affecting the environment in which the organization operated affecting the population it was originally intending to serve. Internally the DJJ faced many challenges involving organizational goals, routines, engaged staff, and new leadership. It is recommended that the organization take actions to adjust to the environment and align its goals with the new legislature. The newly appointed commissioner should adjust her management towards a task orientated leadership until the critical director and staff positions are fulfilled. • 21. My Group Presentation During Week 10 My group presentation during week 10 was around the topic of women at work and more specifically maternity and paternity leave. A common perception of teamwork is that you either have a group that that works well together and finishes the assignment ahead of time or you have group where there is little communication and the assignment is a last minute activity resulting in a grade that is truly reflective of the effort and time taken. Fortunately for myself the group that was formed for this assignment worked well together and produced an exceptional presentation. I enjoy teamwork as it allows for ideas to be bounced off one another and a better understanding of issues and problems to be well comprehended. As well as being a chance to incorporate individuals talents within presentation new skills and the development of existing skills. Personally I feel as though I have a good level of skill for presenting an idea however I lack in the preparation are of a presentation I prefer to present something to an audience rather than find and conduct research for a presentation. However the other people in my group were good at finding information and crafting a brief outline around the presentation. This worked quite well for our group as we had a couple of confident speakers whom brought the presentation together. Where others succeeded in producing and finding evidence to back up our stated methods in which work should be done. The topic of maternity leave and paternity leave ... • 24. Gender Aspects Of The Sailor Moon And Sailor Moon Commercials on television for superheroes always had them men doing the saving and then the women needing to be saved. The very few girl superheroes that were well known were Wonder Woman, Super Girl and Storm. However, in anime there are a bunch of girls fighting to save the world and saving the men. Sailor Moon is on top of the list when it comes to girl power, being released in 1992, and Sailor Moon Crystal was released in 2014. Sailor moon was seen by some critics as sexualized, but others argue that it isn t as bad as some of the other animes that were released after Sailor Moon. Girl superheroes in anime were a mix of being sexy and cute, and the sexy in Sailor Moon was just a bunch of short skirts, high heels, and a small amount of cleavage. Sailor Moon challenged the norms in Japan when it came to gender roles, sexual orientation and presentation of womanhood. At an early age, girls were pushed to follow gender roles especially when it was in the early 1990s. It was something different to see on the television screens girls fighting and challenging gender roles. In Sailor Moon, the audience witness a reverse role with the girls being the heroes, even though the male character Tuxedo Mask can also be a hero, his role was minimal because it was the sailor scouts that did most, if not all of the work. • 25. The Civil Rights Movement In The 1960 s How did our country become not segregated and fair to African Americans? The answer to that is the Civil Rights Movement that took place in the 1960s. This movement ignited when many African Americans rebelled against unfair laws. One of those events was when Rosa Parks wouldn t give up her seat on a public bus to a white person. What we forgot was Rosa wasn t the first to rebel against bus segregation; 9 months before, Claudette Colvin refused to give up her seat in the same city, Montgomery, Alabama. Civil rights were a huge problem back in the 60s. African Americans were separated from whites because whites consider them as dirty. According to Mack Lewis, author of The Girl who got Arrested , on public buses, African Americans were required to give their seat to a white person and move to the back, or stand up. They were so segregated that it got to the point of them having separate movie theaters, soda machines, water fountains, and even bathrooms. [The play was a comedy, so I had a lot of fun with Petruchio s outspoken character and exaggerated persona. In order to perform as him, I needed to understand his underlying motivations.] Petruchio is defined by two motivations: wealth and dominance. His main motive to wed Katharina is to gain wealth, for the dowry he will receive once they are married. This is shown by his emphasis and haste to ask for the dowry when he first meets Katharina s father. He asks, Then tell me, if I get you daughter s love, / What dowry shall I have with her to wife ( )? Baptista responds, After me death the one half of my lands, / And in ... That is why I chose to say this conceited and loud to show that he is pleased about his swift counter Katharina s biting remarks. At the end of the encounter between Katharina and Petruchio, Petruchio ends with a speech declaring that they will be married, no matter how much she opposes it or defies him. He says in his monologue, For I am he am born to tame you Kate, / And bring you from a wild Kate to a Kate / Conformable as other household Kates (2.1.291 293). • 29. Similarities Between Tattoos And Motion Pictures Tattoos versus Motion Picture Arguably what comes to mind when a person is intrigued by a tattoo, is curiosity behind the purpose of it, and most importantly the reasoning. Like a motion picture or short film, there has to be a story behind it, otherwise there would be confusion. Although tattoos and motion pictures both share many similarities in story lines, genres, and depth, they have a plethora of differences. Undoubtedly, these two concepts share story lines. Moreover, the process in development is very different. Tattoos have a story line that is commonly very sentimental, the meaning is real and deep, which is why an individual permanently places such kinds of expression on their skin. Although, not all tattoos are this way, some tattoos might not have any meaning and have been placed upon the skin for no logical reason. Tattoos have a very different development process, and often mean more to individuals than movies. Often times when someone is watching a preview to a new movie, their involvement falls deeper the more they find themselves fascinated by the story line. The story line is what draws them in, and the more it relates personally, or strikes their imagination on a pathway of fascination, the more likely they are to continue watching that genre of movie. Therefore, movies only come to an in mind standpoint, although it has a story line, the display is not nearly as permanent as a tattoo would be considered. In your opinion, what changes should be made to accommodate further overseas expansion? As eBay expands into more foreign markets, eBay will have to further evolve and allow for a more country centralized execution of its policies and manager control. I can certainly see that in countries that have a high religious influence, such as the Muslim dominated hierarchy, religious dictates will control how eBay presents itself. In the Koran it states that you are not allowed to profit off another. This holds true in examples like banking. However in some democracies eBay is being stifled in its ability to require payments thru PayPal, as the book states an example of Australian government, curtailing eBay s ability to require payment thru PayPal (Griffin, 2012). To further accommodate expansion into these diversified markets eBay will of course have to follow religious precepts, government regulations and allow for more targeted products. It would be unwise of eBay to allow many items that are permitted in democracies and free thinking countries to be purchased in a more conservative nation. In the conservative nations, the potential buyers can still buy off eBay USA. The answer is no because we cannot accurately determine, from the given information, whether Siri* understands what she is saying on a deep, emotional level, one requirement for personhood that both Turing and Searle deem necessary (Searle; Turing). We have no method of measuring Siri* s level of understanding outside of the Turing test, which Searle rejects as an accurate measurement of linguistic understanding. And again, he also rejects the idea that any electronic machine can possess such understanding whatsoever, so Siri* s response is essentially meaningless. Part D: Answering to Amy In response to Amy s initial question, it would be unwise to immediately present either Turing s or Searle s answer as a correct response. Similarly, it would be unwise to declare a winning philosophy in this scenario, as the correct philosophy depends on the correct judging criteria, which we lack. Clearly, if Siri* is a person, or judged to be a person based on certain criteria, then Turing is correct in his assessment; Amy should punish her child. If Siri* is not a person, then Searle is correct, and Amy would not have significant reason for punishment. Yes, we were only going to be hosting them for a week, but I was still feeling this certain form of anxiety as I was driving to the school to meet our two Chinese exchange students. I did not know what to expect, so my mind went straight to thinking of the Chinese culture. At the time, I thought that the average child in China lived a life similar to my American childhood; oh, what little did I know. I began forming theories of what the Chinese students would be like. I pondered about what their interests may be, Maybe they enjoy playing ping pong or other sports, or maybe they do not even care for athletics? Maybe they enjoy American music? Would if their English is to the point where they cannot even understand American music? Then my communication with them might be limited, or worse, non existent! However, these same thoughts began to storm my head as I was exiting the car and walking toward the doors of the church. Once I realized that the Chinese group had already started orientation I decided to observe from the back of the auditorium. As I studied the group of Chinese students I realized that I did not have any clue what the two boys looked like, nor did I know their names. This is where the guessing game began, from a distance I began to try to guess which two Chinese boys were assigned to go home with me and my family; meanwhile, one of the Chinese teachers was ranting at the students in Chinese. I did not have a clue what the Chinese teacher was saying to the students, nor did I care at the moment, I was too busy with my thoughts of observance. Myth is threaded into history all over the world, and along the border of the United States and Mexico is no different. In Woman Hollering Creek, Sandra Cisneros reinscribes myths that have perpetuated the patriarchy, breaking down stereotypes and the narratives that we have come to associate with them. This essay will explore the roles of La Llorona and La Malinche in Woman Hollering Creek and Never Marry A Mexican. These myths are inscribed within Mexican American women and Cisneros combats these archetypes by retelling them. The reinscription of these myths by Sandra Cisneros gives up hope that there is more than just the fate of the mourning mother, the colonized victim, and the virgin. The first myth is that of La Llorona. La Llorona is one of the most prevalent myths in Latinx culture. Although there are several retellings of the myth, it is said that after finding out about her husband s infidelity La Llorona drowned their children and spends her days stuck in between the spirit world and this world, grieving their loss and searching for children to replace her own. The Atkins Diet reduces one s intake of carbohydrates to the bare minimum substituting them with high fats and proteins. Insulin levels within the body are maintained at a constant level with these foods. But many skeptics do not believe that the Atkins choice of food is very healthy. A small amount of protein or the size of one s palm at every meal is adequate along with twice the size of the protein portion for carbohydrates such as vegetables, fruits, or beans. Fats such as olives, nuts, and avocados can complete the meal. The higher proportion of carbohydrates is okay because the fat helps to slow down the rate of absorption of carbohydrates into the body (www.webmd.com). The ratios of nutrients in both the Atkins and the Zone Diets determine how the body reacts and loses weight. The proportion of foods in the Atkins and the Zone Diets lead to a certain desirable reaction within the body. The low carbohydrate Atkins Diet focuses on the reduction of insulin levels. Insulin is a hormone the body releases to move the broken down carbohydrates or glucose from the blood into the muscles and fat cells for storage. Once the glucose levels are normal again, the excess insulin causes the body to crave more carbohydrates until the insulin levels become steady again. The Atkins diet stresses eating high fat and protein because these nutrients do not create the insulin response that carbohydrates do. The body then learns to use the stored fat as an energy source rather than the carbohydrates. By severely limiting carbohydrate intake the Atkins Diet almost eliminates the hunger roller coaster (www.webmd.com) caused by insulin levels. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. The Anatomy Of The Anthropology Department That I Found My name is Sean Keefe and I am an intern for the recently deceased Harvey Manfrenjensenjen. While sorting through samples I came across 6 hominin skulls that lack analysis. In this project, I am going to explain and talk about the six skulls in the Anthropology Department that I found. To do this, I will use what I have learned in lecture, as well as numerous outside sources to describe three defining characteristics for each skull. Additionally, I will provide necessary information about each skull if needed. After that, I will put the fossil samples in evolutionary order form the oldest to the youngest. Lastly, I will include a family tree that shows age comparison and ancestral relationships between the homonids. The first skull that I observed in the Anthropology Department belongs to Australopithecus robustus. Australopithecus robustus was first named by the eminent Dr. Robert Broom. The A. robustus leftovers generally come from three different sites: Swartkrans (largest), Dreimulen, and Kromdraai. One of the major problems with these South African sites is dating, but generally, robustus remains can be safely placed from 2.0 1.0 myr, and possibly even earlier. Australopithecus robustus has many features that are specifically distinct to A. robustus. This skull has very thick jaws; small incisors, canines, large, molar like premolars and very large molars. The height of Australopithecus robustus is between 1.1 1.3 meters, and the weight is between 40 80 Kg. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Negative Effects Of Photoshop On Teens The Effects of Photoshop on Teens To stop the negative impact of Photoshop on teenagers, photographers should only use Photoshop for the good of photography and not to give false images of the social norm. In opposition, many would state that Photoshop provides beauty and promotes financial in marketing. The primary objective is to get money for false looks. American culture is highly obsessed with beauty. Everywhere you go there are advertisements and misleading images. Whether it s for models or food alterations are used to sell the image. Models appearances on these photos are admired and sought after from the society. Jessica Walker stated in an interview I do not think Photoshop is bad I use it to make my photos better, but I don t like what people use it for...The user and its intentions are bad not the program itself (Walker). The issue is defined as the images being presented giving a false perception. These photos have been tampered with by professionals, in which they think that their model is what society wants to see. Both genders are being affected by the medias view of body image. However, women and teenagers changed the most. Teenage girls have continuously been presented with images that they are supposed to look like, which is unrealistic images. Photoshop causes some teens to have self esteem issues and many other disorders. In opposition, many would state that Photoshop gives beauty and promotes financial in marketing. America is surrounded by money. For instance, studies show that America s primary export is entertainment, while other countries exports include textile, spices, etc. In opposition, many other countries are putting a stop to the false advertisement of models. For example, France has proposed a bill asking editors to put a health warning on ads or photos that have been retouched, so that women know that their bodies can no look that way. Editors of magazines portray their models as being thin, young, and full faced, which are from technology, not the actual model. • 51. Critical Review On Prison And Prison Manya Wilson Kaplan University Graduate School of Criminal Justice Critical Issues in Corrections CJ 521 0806 0916 01 Dr.John Hill August 23, 2014 Abstract To many convicts in the United States the jail or prison is often times the first resort of punishing. Legal teams do not research sentencing options; they like to sentence an offender to the easiest place to do their time which is the jail. The jail has the amenities that an inmate seeks or wants. They can get a shower, a warm meal, and some clothes free of charge and get released the next day. If they go to prison, the inmate can get all those perks, and get released years later. These inmates that come to prison for small crimes, are causing the prison populations to expand person by person. The cells are not designed more than two people , and the shower can only one body in it at a time and of course the toilet is only designed for buttock at time. Jail and Prison should be the last resort, but in modern society it is the first resort The Introduction In today s society, there are a variety of sentencing options for the convicted felon. Or the first time criminal who has no prior convictions, but because of going to a party, he or she does something they would not have done and lands in the custody of a state penal system. Since there are varieties of sentencing options available to a potential detainee, then why does the United States have so many people stacked up top on one another in its penal systems? The ...
