Depression And Its Effects On Children
Depression in Adolescents The mind is full of emotions, knowledge, memories, and much more.
The adolescent stage is very complex where a child is attacked with different emotions and
events where they begin to feel excluded from society. In this stage, teens start using their mind
for moral behavior and decision making. This is when children, begin puberty and start an
irregular hormonal stage. As physical characteristics change in a teen s body also does the
perception of themselves start to develop in their mind. For example, when teenagers are not
acknowledged by their peers they begin to exclude themselves from the outside world.
Additionally, if the teen feels out of place they start isolating themselves from society and start a
long journey of depressive thoughts. Depression is a mood disorder that causes an individual to
feel sad and isolated. Depression is a mental disorder that controls the ability to feel content. There
may be many reasons why depressive thoughts may occur. An article by Rick Ingram, particularly
displays that the vulnerability work in parent s psychopathology may be a high risk factor for their
child s depression. This theory can be dated back to different research on psychopathology like
schizophreniaresearch. Psychopathology research sought after a genetic link between parent and
child psychopathology. The data from the research showed that there was higher risk of depression
with children that have mothers dealing with depression. The

Explain How Many Utilitarian s Does It Take To Screw In...
Introduction
Question: How many utilitarian s does it take to screw in a light bulb? Answer: As many as are
happy screwing in light bulbs! I want to stop philosophizing; but I Kant! Ha ha. Kant is all about
rules and Bentham about the consequences. Jeremy Bentham, a British philosopher, economist,
jurist, human rights activist and the chief expounder of Utilitarianism. Bentham born a prodigy,
graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree at sixteen years old. He was a radical philosopher of law
and politics and gave ideas which were way ahead of his time. Immanuel Kant, a German
philosopher, considered the most influential thinker of the Enlightenment era and one of the
greatest western philosophers of all times. Kant s philosophy is often described ... Show more

As the founder of utilitarianism, Bentham believes that an act is considered just if it produces the
most happiness and the least pain for the greatest number of people affected directly, or indirectly
by that action. For Bentham, happiness means giving sovereignty to pleasure over pain. Contrarily,
Kant proposes that only duty and rules should dictate our actions, as the outcome is beyond our
control. To Kant the only thing that matters is good will. His theory suggests that an action is
either just or unjust regardless of the consequences of that same action. Bentham tried to attain his
theory through hedonism and Kant his through universal maxims, neither theory beneficial to
everyone. In addition, Jeremy Bentham s theory is flawed because it only considers the most
happiness caused by a moral action, it neglects minorities. Similarly, Kant fully ignoring the
consequences of a moral action is not a worthy idea, because at times, we may have more than one
duty or obligation to

Economic Analysis and Strategies to Increase Spending
Economic analysis 2006 and 2011. The five year benchmarks selected for this analysis do not well
represent the fluctuations in the economy in the interim years, which have been substantial.
Naturally, the fiscal crisis of 2008 to 2010 had deep and enduring impact on the national and global
economies, but the bookend years of this analysis effectively obfuscate the volatility resident in
those years. Fiscal year 2008, for instance, the inflationrate reached nearly 5%, the unemployment
rate peaked in 2009, and the interest rate reached 5% in 2007. What this analysis does provide is a
look at the stabilization of the economy without the noise of the intervening fiscal crisis. Through
the monetary policyby The Fed during the fiscal crisis, efforts have been directed at maximizing
employment and price stability. As a result, the interest rate will remain low with no changes
anticipated until 2014. Inflation has stabilized, interest investments are low but gradually
increasing, and the unemployment rate is slowly dropping but is not expected to accelerate.

Job Satisfaction Essay
Job satisfaction is the very important factor in general quality of life because it is closely
connected with working life (e.g. Argyle, 1989; Bang Lee, 2006), with family life, everyday life,
and mental health (Orpen, 1978; Schmitt and Bedeian, 1982; Faragher, Cass Cooper, 2005). Level
of job satisfaction is also highly related to turnover, absenteeism rate, work productivity or
accomplishment (Muchinsky, 1977; Organ, 1977). Many researchers (e.g. Cherrington, 1994;
Acorn, Ratner Crawford, 1997; Ostroff, 1992; Spector, 1997) state that employees who experience
high job satisfaction contribute to organisational commitment, job involvement, their physical,
mental health and overall well being are improved. Job dissatisfaction on the... Show more content

To understand the concept of job satisfaction the research has identified two aspects of it, they are,
the facets satisfaction and overall satisfaction (Cherrington,1994; Fields, 2002). Individuals can be
satisfied or dissatisfied with their overall job (Ironson, Smith, Brannick, Gibson, Paul, 1989) and
with specific job facets, such as the level of pay, promotion opportunities, co workers, working
conditions and supervision, contingent rewards, benefits, nature of work, or communication
(Spector, 1997; Locke, 1976; Smith, Kendall Hulin, 1969). The evidence shows that distinctive job
facets such as pay satisfaction, opportunities for promotion, relationships with co workers and
supervisors have significant effects on job satisfaction (Ting, 1997; Ellickson Logsdon, 2002;
Pohlmann; 1999). The overall satisfaction is considered in terms of good salary, compassionate
supervisors and co operative co workers. Conversely, the job dissatisfaction derives for instance
form low pay or incompetent supervisors. Therefore, the feeling of overall satisfaction or
dissatisfaction depends on the intensity and frequency of positive and negative experiences with
job (Cherrington, 1994; Ironson, Smith, Brannick, Gibson, Paul,

Jay Gatsby Influences
The Great Gatsby is generally regarded as a story of love and tragedy, but in actuality, it was a
story of a sad man chasing a baseless obsession with a woman and in trying to obtain this
relationship, succumbing to immoral practices and ultimately dying alone. The author of The
Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald, is a widely acclaimed author who had a life of tragedy and loss
that greatly impacted his writing. He was able to see not only the light hearted, celebratory, and
successful side of the American Dream, but also the negative effects of overindulging with alcohol
and incessant partying. He was able to indirectly write about himself and his losses in the stories he
wrote. Unfortunately, he was not able to see how successful he had become.... Show more content

All of his decisions are based on his need to feel superior and his interminable chase after the idea
of Daisy that he has created. Part of the genius of the novel that Fitzgerald included was the two
dimensionality of the characters. Almost all of the characters lacked a human aspect of their
characterization. Fitzgerald wrote them this way on purpose. He wrote the characters of The Great
Gatsby the way that he saw people around him in his everyday life: shallow and vapid. Instead of
filling the novel with well rounded characters, he filled it with characters who at best made
questionable decisions, even with good intentions in mind. His decision in doing this is extremely
important to the themes portrayed in the novel. The Great Gatsby brought a lot of the social issues
that were going on in the 20 s into the light, and in a brilliant way. Writing Jay Gatsbyas a static
character was an integral part of the themes that Fitzgerald hoped to depict with the The Great
Gatsby, and an extremely effective way to expose the general public of the 20s for whom
Fitzgerald truly saw

Divantages And Dimerits Of Virtual Laboratory
Merits and Dimerits of Virtual Laboratories in Engineering
Laboratories are important component in engineering and engineering education. In order to learn
something by practical, laboratories are vital. With the significant increase of Information
Technology (IT) or now well known as Information Communication and Technology (ICT), virtual
laboratories have its attention among the engineers. Virtual laboratories are used as alternative way
or a supplement to the physical and real laboratories.
What is virtual laboratory? People might think that virtual is something that cannot be seen. There
are a concept with many ramifications about virtual laboratory in physical sciences. These may
relate to the purpose a virtual laboratory is seeking to address, its mode of delivery, the scope of
delivery, the experience of both students and tutors, and indeed the suitability of an activity for
implementation in a virtual laboratory. The concept is also making an excitement of opinion, both
for and against, in many educational circles. In the most general terms, a virtual laboratory is a
computer based activity where students interact with an experimental apparatus or other activity via
a computer interface. Typical examples which come to mind include a simulation of an experiment,

Diet Adverts
Those who watch any amount of television have probably noticed the numerous ads for diet
programs that include diet mail order food shipped directly to the home. Results advertised as not
typical are plastered across the screen in print almost too small to read, and scantily clad people
proudly exclaim they ve achieved success with their diet plan of choice. One commercial in
particular shows a less than perfect woman who doesn t appear to be extremely overweight walking
through the grocery store in her silky lavender underwear. Others show people in tight bathing suits
with tummies hanging over their waistbands while exposing themselves to the world. When
wearing clothes, most of these people really wouldn t look that bad, but they claim... Show more

The extra fat that you carry is completely due to the lifestyle that you follow including poor
eating habits. If you know that you are carrying a lot of extra fat on your body by the jokes and
insulting comments other people bestow on you, then it is time to do your research on diet pills
that safely aid in weight loss. You will be able to get your life back, your energy back, and your
good health back. Instead of being insulted you will have people flocking to you asking you how
you lost so much weight. If you want to burn excess fat quickly and safely diet pills can be a
great option, especially if you are in pretty good health as the side effects will not affect your
health as much as someone with poor health. There are many different types of diet pills out
there on the market but it is best to research the diet pill fads as well as talk to your doctor to find
out which diet pills will be best for you. If you want to gain muscle as well as lose weight it is
best to combine diet pills with a feasible exercise regimen and a healthy diet plan. Once you have
done your research and decided which path you are going to take start comparing them side by
side as far as what they have to offer, what the company itself can offer, and the testimonials of
those that have used the product. While many diet pills claim that you can lose 10 pounds in a
week that is the extreme; it is important to read all the fine print and realize that losing weight
can t happen over night; you have to put a lot of effort into it by sticking to a healthy diet plan
and participating in a workout regimen that is within your reach. Once you have made the
commitment mentally and emotionally you will get the most from your weight loss experience.
Using diet pills can only be effective if you include a healthy diet and exercise. If your goal is to

Assessing The Internal Audit Function
Assessing the Internal Audit Function
Auditing standards are published by the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB).
As such, the PCAOB published Auditing Standard Number 5 (AS 5), which recommends
integrating an audit of intern controls with the audit of a firm s financial statements (PCAOBUS,
2007). An auditor s objectives of the internal controls audit and that of the financial statements are
not identical, and the auditor must perform the audits to achieve both objectives.
Internal Audit Objectivity Auditors of a firm s financial statements, be they external or internal
auditors, have the primary objective of providing users of said financial statements with an opinion
on the fairness of reported information to engender the confidence of said users (AICPA, 2012). As
such, auditors must adhere to requirements set forth by the Auditing Standards Board (ASB) of the
American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Among such requirements; objectivity
is essential in performing audit duties be they external or internal audit functions. Moreover, in
assessing internal controls and risks to the organization, internal auditors must also conduct
themselves with objectivity and independence (TuЕЎek Pokrovac, 2012). Whereas external
auditors are independent of the firm, internal auditors face more scrutiny of their objectivity as they
are employed directly by the firm of which they audit. Therefore, more important than independence
is objectivity to

Mesopotamia And Its Impact On Mesopotamia Essay
Mesopotamia was the highlight of all regions. The location falls right in between the Tigris and
Euphrates Rivers, where modern day Iraq is today. It was located right along the fertile crescent .
Because of this the soil was very rich which caused great agriculture. It was one of the first
civilizations to roam the earth. During 4300 BCE, the late Ubaid period in Mesopotamiabegan.
Many events and actions took place during this time. Mesopotamia was an outstanding region and
contained many treasures including pottery, inventions, architecture, and Ziggurats.
Pottery had a major impact on Mesopotamia. During the Ubaid period, objects were created and
made of dark clay. Because of this, they often have a brown or green tint. These objects
consisted of drinking cups, storage jars, bowls, and plates. The normal households pots were not
as extravagant. They were roughly shaped and plain. Some jars had knobs on the side so they
can be easily carried, but others had a rim that lengthened all the way around. This was the most
common feature of higher quality pieces. Some of these projects were the first to be created on
potter s wheels. The potter s wheel gave the advantage of making larger and more symmetrical
forms at a much faster pace. Ubaid culture potters were the first to turn out their products en masse.
The technical perfection of Ubaid culture potters enabled them to supply some clay products, which
could replace those parts of the contemporary tool kit. Not only does

Byzantine Mosaics And San Marco Basilica Essay
Byzantine Mosaics and San Marco Basilica
Intro Mosaics have been present in Italy dating back to the Romans. They were originally used
in palaces, temples, and other monumental structures as a way of decoration and paving of
surfaces such as walls, ceilings, and floors, however they can also serve as pictorial art. Mosaics
are pictures formed by marble, stones, and vitric tesserae of various colors, placed on a layer of
stucco, putty or other durable building material. Then the surfaced is finished by smoothing and
polishing the stones. Byzantine mosaics, which are present in the San Marco Basilica, utilize vitric
tesserae, a glass like tile, instead of marble and stone which the Romans and Greeks traditionally
used. Mosaic techniques ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mosaics located on the wall and ceilings of a space are more polished and elaborate in color
giving the space it is situated in an inspiring aesthetic. Mosaics are unique to other art materials
in that they have a shape of their own. They are not soft like paint or clay and cannot be fused
with their material equals but only placed at their side. It remains a building stone in the fact that
the material cannot adapt itself to the intricate turns of cutting tools. Each tesserae is shaped by
the artist s hammer out of a block of colored stone or vitreous paste. Byzantine mosaics have a
rough character to them whereas other styles such as Hellenistic mosaics have a smooth polished
look to them. Byzantine mosaics outline the human figure in dark contours which removes its
softness and reveals its own character by detaching itself from the object represented. The tesserae
are larger in size and do not form a solid surface, instead are placed freely with clear intervals
between each piece. The tesserae are placed irregularly, tilting against each other, some protruding
more than others which creates a rough surface accentuated by light and shadow. This technique

Like Water For Chocolate Themes
The novel, Like Water for Chocolate written by Laura Esquivel is a nail biting, tear jerking, and
infuriating piece of work. The story is told with a couple big, noticeable themes such as, family and
love. Esquivel was born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico which is where most of her novels take
place. In all of her works, Esquivel likes to look into a male and female relationship, and Like Water
for Chocolateis no exception. This noveltakes place in Mexicoduring the transition to the twentieth
century. Overall, this book was very thoughtfully and thoroughly put together. It displayed various
emotions within each chapter and always made sure the reader was involved.
In this novel, the reader gets to meet Tita De La Garza. Tita is the youngest daughter of her family,

Lymphoma comes in two types Hodgkin s and non Hodgkin s Both types are a cancer based
disease of the cells. The body constantly makes new cells to help us grow, replace worn out tissue

then causes blood of lymph fluid in the body to become abnormal, or form a lump called a

My Art Teacher
It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge, said
Albert Einstein. This quote rings true to my career vision and artistic pursuit. I envision myself
in a career where I work interchangeably between an artist and fine art teacher. As a young girl, I
always dreamed about becoming a teacher. Many people often seem dumbfounded, they ask, why
teaching? I find that they overlook the impact that teaching can have. William Arther Ward once
said, The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates.
The great teacher inspires. Many of my professors throughout school have profoundly impacted
me. The most phenomenal teachers that left a profound and influential effect on me were my art
teachers, such as Nancy Crawford, Heather Ujiie, and Moe Brooker. These three professors left
an imprint on me, by sharing knowledge, fostering my creativity, and mentoring me to grow my
unique artistic abilities. They promoted artistic confidence and brought enthusiasm to difficult art
lessons. My mentors were encouraging and inspiring, and they taught me to believe in myself. I
have always had a strong intrigue of looking up to my professors. The sense of leading a class
and being a role model inspired me to become an art teacher and it captivated my artistic senses at a
young age. The opportunity to impact children s lives through the notion of teaching art, and to be
able to witness change and artistic growth within

Controlling Tuberculosis in China
Controlling tuberculosis in China
Introduction
Tuberculosis is a disease of an infectious nature caused by a bacterium known as mycobacterium
tuberculosis. The disease spreads through the air. People with the disease can spread it to
susceptible people through coughing, sneezing, talking or spitting. It mainly affects the lungs and
other parts such as the lymph nodes and kidneys can also be affected. The symptoms for TB are
fatigue, coughing, night sweats, weight loss and fever. One third of the population of the world is
affected with mycobacterium tuberculosis. The rate of infection is estimated to be one person per
second. About 14 million people in the world are infected with active tuberculosis. Drug resistant
TB has been recorded to be a serious public health hazard in many countries. Resistant strains
have developed making it difficult to treat the disease. TB has caused millions of death mainly in

Causes And Effects Of Unemployment
Causes and Effects of Unemployment Travis Epling Strayer University ENG 105 Jeanette
Trammel 9/14/14 Causes and Effects of Unemployment There are many reasons for
unemployment in the United States and around the world. Some of these causes are created by
the individual and others are out of their control. No matter what the cause for unemployment, it
has a devastating effect on the individual, family, and economy. Unemployment defined by the
Encyclopedia Britannica is the condition of one who is capable of working, actively seeking
work, but is unable to find any work. In addition, to define a person as unemployed, the person
must be an active member of the labor force in search of work. (Encyclopedia Britannica, 2012)...

Monetary Effects Because unemployed people receive benefits from the government, there is a
correlation between unemployment and increased government spending. The Employment Act
of 1946 gave the government the responsibility of maintaining a high employment level of labor
and price stability. The effects of this increased spending for unemployment benefits is that
other government programs suffer a loss in their financial support. It also causes a decrease in
the growth of the GDP. There are less people working so less goods and services are being
produced and with fewer people to spend money in the economy there are less goods and
services being purchased. This causes a decrease in demand of products and causes producers to
lower their selling price to avoid a surplus. When the producer lowers their selling price, it causes
the consumer price index to fall. Social Effects Various social effects spring from the people who
are unemployed. They affect both our communities and the unemployed. The skills and
knowledge from the unemployed is lost to our economy which keeps our economy from reaching
its full potential. There is also an increase in crime and social strife during times of high
unemployment. Bruce Weinberg, associate professor of economics at Ohio State University, Eric
Gould, Hebrew University, and David Mustard, University of Georgia conducted a study of the
national crime rates between 1979 and 1997 and found a direct correlation in falling wages

Immature Parents: Role Reversal
Continued (page 2 of 2)
It s hard to say why adults don t always act like grown ups. Sometimes good parents simply make
mistakes, Ward says. For these moms and dads, a conversation or a carefully worded letter might be
enough to do the trick. But others never got the parenting they needed and, Brown explains, failed to
make strides past adolescence toward a healthy, mature level of empathy. For them, she adds,
everything centers around what they want, and selfish conduct is an inherent part of their pattern of
behaviors and attitudes. In these cases, no amount of talking will change them, so instead of trying
to improve communication, Brown suggests self protection. If your parent is hurting you with his or
her behavior and won t change, you have no choice but to set up emotional barriers to protect
yourself.
Ward also advises seeking support from a responsible adult, like a counselor, teacher, minister, or
a friend s parent. That s what Sarah did. I started attending a teen Bible study, and Kelly, the lady
who led it, became like a mother to me, she says. My mom was jealous, but I think Kelly saved my
life.
Teens who are forced to act like adults often have a hard time reaching out for help because they
are so adult, Ward says. But they need someone who can remind them that it s OK to

Was Santiago Successful In The Old Man And The Sea
The definition of successful, according to Google, is accomplishing an aim or purpose. Santiago
was successful because he achieved his goals and he was proud of them. Santiago spent a really
long time without catching any fish and when he finally did the wait was worth it. Santiago had to
fight off sharks that were attacking the marlin that he caught and he killed every single one that
came close. In the story, The Old Man and the Sea, Santiago was successful because he caught a
marlin, he killed many sharks, and he stayed strong when he was in pain. Santiago spent much of
his life fishingin the sea. Santiago worked really hard to catch just one fish. He spent eighty four
days just waiting for this fish and when that day came his hard work paid off. He was eighteen
feet from nose to tail, the fisherman who was measuring him called (Hemingway, 2003, p. 123).

After catching the marlin and attaching it to the side of the boat Santiago saw that sharks
smelled blood from the fish and were chasing him so he had to figure out a way to kill them with
items on the ship. The line showed clearly on the top of his brown head and back where the brain
joined the spinal cord and the old man drove the knife on the oar into the juncture, withdrew it, and
drove it in again into the shark s yellow cat like eyes. The shark let go of the fish and slid down,
swallowing what he had taken as he died (Hemingway, 2003, p. 108). The old man tied his knife
to his boat s oar to stab the sharks that were quickly coming for the fish. His method worked,
however, his weapon eventually broke and he had to use another object to kill other sharks.
Santiago killed sharks before they took his fish and killed him, thus making him successful because

Scalp Infection Research Paper
How a scalp infection occurs?
Description: There can be various causes of scalp infection. You need to strengthen your immunity
system and consume a lot of fluids, vitamins to address all the symptoms.
Your scalp can become itchy, sore, and inflamed. If you are the one suffering from chronic scalp
problems, you need to be serious. Ringworm, the skin infection, is caused by fungus which impacts
the scalp directly. Antifungal medications need to be taken continuously to treat the issue. There
are various causes of scalp infection.

breakage. The patches may be itchy, red, inflamed and blistered. It can lead to the appearance of
inflamed ring surrounding the normal patch of skin.
Can teeth infection lead to scalp infection?
Alopecia is the lesser understood dental infection which has some link with the bald patches. The
infection may show on the eyebrows, scalp, and beard. Usually hair re grows but most of the times
it can trigger further hair loss. Alopecia Areata is the autoimmune disease that impacts the hair
follicle negatively.
Poor immunity system
Diet is an effective way of regulating and activating immunity system. Fungal overgrowth can be
the result of consuming diet rich in carbohydrates. Daily consumption of beverages, alcohol can
worsen the situation.
Scaly skin pieces, flaking off the clothes can cause redness, itching. Dandruff can plague and
attack the oily regions of the scalp. During winters, people are likely to suffer from scalp infection.

Jane’s Path to Prosperity Essay
Jane s Path to Prosperity
In The beginning of Jane Eyre, Charlotte Bronte introduces Jane as an orphan girl who is residing
at Gateshead with Mrs. Reed and her children. Bronte walks us through the episodes of Jane s life
as she moves to Lowood, Thronfield, Moor House, and finally to Ferndean. Throughout these
stages, Bronte will show how charity was depicted through the interactions that Jane had. Through
these perspectives we will see that the results of how charity was regarded, based on the nineteenth
century concepts and views that Bronte discusses, point out the significance of charity in Jane Eyre.
Charlotte s focus on charity in her novel revolves not only around giving money to orphans, but

Bronte s views on charity are first seen through the actions in the Reed household. Jane is an
orphan girl left to be taken care of by her uncle. However, her uncle passed away when she was
very young and she remains in the custody of the bitter Reeds. The reason as to why they are
bitter is because they are greedy and disregard Jane in all they do. In spite of the fact that she is
poor and has no family that cares for her, they harass and mock her instead of giving her love and
care. From an incident at the beginning of the novel, we can clearly see how Jane is mistreated.
When Jane is a girl of about nine years old, we learn that she has an interest in reading books.
She feels that reading will allow her to experience some of the excitement in the books
considering that she isn t part of the Reed family and is excluded from everything else that they
do. Even by engaging herself with reading some of their books, which were scarcely used by the
Reeds, Jane had to be punished for laying hands on their so called property because in their views,
since she s poor, she s unfit to touch them. We can see how cruel the Reeds are when John
confronts Jane for using their books:
You have no business to take our books; you are a dependant, mama says; you have no money:
your father left you non; you ought

Within any company, managers must be reminded that the focus of a layoff is not on the actual
individual being released, but rather on the position itself. The layoff decision is made based on
the needs of the company and the position. If the individual is not fulfilling the position or if the
position is no longer necessary, the company must make the decision to let the person go. With this
perspective, managers can prevent as many negative emotions as possible and it will additionally
affect the communication between the manager and employee being laid off. When the employee
is reminded of the true purpose of the decision, they will accept the decision more easily than if he

which pays the employee the full amount of their layoff benefits in one lump sum. However, it

Three Ways the Layoff May Affect the Company
Even if a layoff is completed successfully and with little resistance, there are possible negative
effects in which the decision can have on the company. These include:
* Decrease trust among valuable employees
* Hidden costs, such as severance packages, may cause the layoff to be ineffective
* Workplace morale may decrease
Companies are oftentimes hasty to undergo layoffs as they feel they are eliminating their
ineffective employees and building an environment full of strong and effective employees.
However, this does not guarantee that the valuable employees will remain loyal to the company
and it is important that managers do not depend too much on these employees. Layoffs can also

Relationship Between Birth Order And Personality
Birth order and personality have been a topic of discussion throughout the years with many well
known psychologist like Freud and Adler doing research on them. Some research that has been
conducted shows there is no correlation between birth order and personality. Then there is other
research that states in fact birth orderdoes affect personality and intelligence. I believe birth order
shows distinctive characteristics in regard to firstborns and their achievement level in comparison
to their younger siblings. The media article we picked was from an online journal called The
Atlantic. The article in summary talked about how two of the studies they looked at showed no
resemblance with birth order and personality traits. Beck states, birth order is similar to a
horoscope because each child is classified as a specific personality trait. With this article, The Order
On Personality And Achievement Within Families they did multiple studies and found there is a
relationship between the two. In study number 2 they found that firstborns were ranked more
conscientious and more achieving. In all of the articles I found they showed construct validity. The
first article was conducted with 375 students. The researchers wanted to figure out if first borns or
second borns were higher in either mastery goals or performance goals. Their construct was
mastery and performance and they measured this with a survey that had a 5 point scale. Each

primarily teenagers who do not feel comfortable with their bodies due to many reasons, such as
peer pressure and the influence of fashion and film industries. Over 8,000 teenagers die every year
due to this illness. However, every problem has a solution. Bulimia can be reduced among teenagers
if there is more attention drawn to it, especially as a mental illness, there should be a greater

Additionally, the law demands disclosure in photos that went under the magic of photoshop.
Moreover, Israel is not the only country fighting against photoshop. In 2011, The U.K s
Advertising Standards Authority outlawed and took down a magazine ad produced by L Oreal,
which featured supermodel Christy Turlington and actress Julia Roberts. The ad was reportedly
misleading, exaggerated and overly airbrushed (Sieczkowski). The American Medical
Association (AMA) already announced the adoption of a policy to control the use of photoshop
by advertisers. The policy consists of the side by side work between the advertising associations,
and the public and private sector organizations concerned with child and adolescent health. By
working together, headlines, advertisements, fashion shows, etc., could still go on while not
making a negative influence on teenagers (Clemmer). Furthermore, major attention should be
brought to the illness. Nowadays, the word bulimia is commonly viewed as a taboo; no one
wants to talk about it. People avoid the topic, and that is one of the main reasons we still have
teens all around the world suffering from it. Problems should be addressed in order to be resolved.

Essay On Chaos And Transformational Disorder
CHAOS AND MENTAL DISORDER In 1992 Freeman has suggested the use of complexity for
the study of schizophrenia and mood instability in bipolar disorders. (Freeman, 1992). According to
Freeman, chaos underlies the brain s ability to respond flexibly to the outside world and to generate
a rich variety of patterns, including those that are experienced as new ideas. Chaos thus expresses
the unpredictable underlying order of attractors and allows the complex behavior observed in the
brain. The dynamics of the underlying attractor reconstructed from the EEG data by using the
coordinates delay technique proved to be chaotic in nature. Preliminary results suggested that a
separate chaotic attractor is maintained for each stimulation and perception act is constituted by

This is correlated with changes in the spatiotemporal patterns of activity of chaotic systems
(Freeman, 1999). Other studies suggest a relationship of chaotic dynamics with a wide range of
cognitive phenomena connected with characteristic changes during the manifestations of mental
disorders such as depression or schizophrenia (Gottschalk et al., 1995) (Barton, 1994) (Huber et
al.,1999), (Korn Faure, 2003), (Melancon et al., 2000), (Paulus Braff, 2003). There are studies that
attribute the chaotic transitions to dissociative states in psychopathology. They propose hypotheses
relating the process of dissociation with the chaotic dynamics generated by discrete maps (Putnam,
1997). In another example, the chaotic transitions are related dissociative states in the brain (Bob,
2003; 2007) to be noted that transitions which occur in the activation of different sets of neurons
obey patterns that can be identified with chaos. As a last example, not much different than the
above, the comparison is made of the behavioral observations of individuals and not their

Waste Segregator Chapter 1
I. Introduction
Since the human being lived in this world, different kinds of waste were produced continuously. In
the early years, the common wastes produced were biodegradable. There are no major problems
with this since it will decompose over time. As the number of population increases and new
inventions were made, the kind of waste produced by humans also increases. Some of these wastes
include plastics, glass, metal, papers and many more. Some of waste scattered in the surroundings
are recyclable. But due to improper waste management, these are not optimized.
In the current generation, different manual systems are starting to be automated. Waste
management was also starting to follow the trend. In other countries, there are automated ... Show

Whereas the crude methods of sorting wastes practiced may be efficient, it wastes useful time;
hence the need for a mechanized sorting machine. An attempt has been made to develop a waste
sorting machine, which is conceptualized to sort wastes into light materials, ferrous metals and
other heavy materials. The waste sorting machine consists of a hopper through which the waste is
fed through; a fan and air channel through which the light weight materials are separated from the
waste matrix; a belt conveyor which carries the left waste towards a magnet fitted shaft/pulley
which separates ferrous metals and also chambers into which the separated components of the
waste fall. The machine is designed with the major components being the fan, the belt conveyor
and the magnet. Tests carried out on the machine successfully classified wastes into light
materials and heavy materials with inability to sort ferrous metals. Samples of wastes tested
weighed 1.15kg and 3.53kg. The wastes consisted of an average of 32% of light materials and the
time to sort the waste was 65 minutes per unit mass. This machine separates light materials such as
paper, nylon, textile and heavy materials similar to nylon, ferrous and non ferrous metal, glass and
paper sorted by the machine developed by Falayi in the tear 2007 and the machine designed by

Home To Harlem Analysis
In his analysis of Claude McKay s Home to Harlem, Shane Vogel refers to the text as a piece of
literature which is invested in affective mimesis. Essentially, the text is interested in the
reproduction of feelings and senses. The success of the text is based on the audience s ability to
feel what McKay wants them to feel. Of course, this method has its limits. How will a non black
audiencecapable of absorbing the material presented exactly as McKay means for it to be
interpreted? The answer to that question, of course, is that this text was not produced for
consumption by white audiences. This has been established by McKay s response to W.E.B. Du
Bois s criticisms of Home to Harlem, where it is staunchly established that McKay s portrayal of
African American individuals is for African Americans themselves the text portrays a series of
experiences which can only be understood by an in group, and that is that. Thus, McKay s
affective mimesis, or the elliptical sensorium of pleasure he produces, aims not to depict Harlem
as a spectacle, but as a place in which his audience already knows and already exists in.
Ultimately, the story of Home to Harlem exemplifies a never ending series of knowing and
unknowing one s surroundings and one s home. This is reinforced by the novel s looping plot
structure. McKay s formulation of the text does not give us an interpretation of diaspora, then it
aims to reproduce the feelingof diaspora in our hearts. First, let us consider how the structure of
the novel s plot reinforces the dual complexity of identity and remembrance. Home to Harlem is
a text defined by its astounding structural redundancy. Regardless of one s place in the novel, it
can be assumed that similar events are going to unfold there will be a mention of clubs or
alcohol, dancing will be involved, and Jake will surely sigh about how he has lost his sweet brown.
In instances where Jake and his companions aren t in Harlem, Jake laments for a return to what he
considers home. Thus, aside from certain moments, such as when Jake finally finds Felice, the
formulaic structure of Home to Harlem seems doomed to repeat itself for eternity. It is during this
aforementioned reunion when the audience begins to

The Conversion Of Solar ( Pv ) Energy Into Hydrogen Gas...
Name: Institution: Course: Instructor: Date: The Conversion of Solar (PV) Energy into
Hydrogen Gas for Fuel Cells. Introduction Solar photovoltaic (PV) systems convert sunlight into
direct current. For this to be achieved, semi conducting materials would be required to induce
the photovoltaic effect. A photovoltaic system comprises solar panels, each fitted with a
number of solar cells that supply solar energy to the system. In the absence of sunlight, solar
power would be available for household or commercial lighting applications (Ratlamwala 86).
This paper examines the feasibility of converting solar PV electricity into hydrogen for fuel cells
based on: cost of hydrogen production (per kilogram), the quantity of solar power required to
generate hydrogen (per kilogram), the feasibility of the technology in the UAE amid the costs
and efficiencies of the system components. Question 1 Just like the rest of the world, the United
Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Middle East have intensified efforts to curb the global warming
menace. Several independent studies (e.g. Harder 790 Radhi 18) have pointed out that
overdependence on fossil fuels tends to heighten global warming. At a glance, hydrogen can be
considered as an ideal substitute to fossil fuels. Hydrogen provides about three times of renewable
energy harnessed from natural gas. When hydrogen is used in energy production, pure water is
emitted as the sole by product of the process (Radhi 12).

HAIER, TAKING A CHINESE COMPANY GLOBAL 1. SUMMARY
Haier ( the Company ) was China s biggest white goods producer and supplier in 1990s. In 1984,
there was nearly 300 local producers in China market, most of which were producing poor quality
goods. However, customers were willing to pay more for higher quality products and reliable
service. This need created an advantage for differentiation.
In Chinese market, demand was high. Haier being able to read customer need properly, focused on
Product Quality, After Sale Services and BrandBuilding. While there was oversupply in the
market, with product differentiation Haier was able to raise its prices. Their target was to be a first

In other words, with this Global Strategy, Haier entered into international markets in 3 different
ways; 1. It first exported to global markets, 2. Then established JV ( Joint Ventures ) with the local
firms and, 3. Finally made investments and set up production facilities overseas, in global markets.
Haiser entered into overseas markets as a contract manufacturer for multinational brands in early
1990s. First exported products to UK, then Germany, France and Italy. It also establisted joint
ventures to explore the foreign markets; i.e. established a JV with Mitsubishi to set up China s
largest AC ( air conditioners ) production plant in 1994, in 1995 set up a JV with a local firm in
India to produce refrigerators and ACs, in 1997 establised a JV with a Yugoslav company in

the first airline to operate a scheduled round the world service ( Family Tree: Pan Am ). However,
by the mid 1950s, major expansions were over (Banning). In 1968, Trippe announced his retirement
as president of the company. This signaled the beginning of the end. In the 1970s, there were major
increases in worldwide fuel prices, and declining travel, followed by deregulation and huge
increases in competition (Banning). Increased world terrorism, which culminated in the crash of
Flight 103 in December 1988, which was blown out of the sky over Lockerbie, Scotland, by a
terrorist bomb, left the company in financial instability and moral turmoil (Dallas and Gellene).
Even after selling most of its assets, many at bargain basement prices, the deficits remained

company ( Family Tree: Pan Am ).
Failure
The deciding factor determining Pan Am s failure was its bankruptcy. As there is not sufficient
information regarding the company s stock prices, one must examine the other factors indicating

Saige Brey
Aug 15, 2015 When you hear the term bisexual , what comes to mind? For some it s what they
identify with in the LGBTQIA+, for others it s a confusing and broad term that somewhat covers
their sexuality, and for others it just seems like a foreign and strange idea. As a bisexual, I ve
heard the question, Well which gender do you prefer more? several times. My answer to that is
usually along the lines of neither , which leads to some confused looks or even some of disbelief.
To start, bisexuality is not a Well, you re either straight or gay! Pick one! . Bisexuality is within
the LGBTQIA+ and sexuality spectrum, but it is neither a preference of any of the genders. For
some, yes they prefer a gender, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, pansexuality is the attraction to all genders (not just male and female), and
polysexuality is the attraction to some (not all) genders. A plethora of people identify as all three
of these genders, and yes they are real, and some do have preferences, others do not.
Basically, bisexuality erasure is a becoming a prevalent problem in the LGBTQIA+ community,
as well as the straight community. I ve had people tell me that bisexuals are just pretending, and
then there s the ever present rumor that bisexual people are just in it for the sex. I m here to say
that s not true. A bisexual person can like two, many, or all genders, and it has literally nothing to
do with sex or the amount of sex that person has.
However, some people within the LGBTQIA+ community feel like bisexuals are the most
privileged of the sexualities, because they can just identify as straight if they felt like it (an actual
person has said this to me before), and haven t felt the homophobia and hostility faced towards the
community. But we have. Bisexuals may not encounter as much homophobia and hostility, but we
still get the constant, Which do you prefer more, boys or girls? and the Well you have to like one
more than the other, liking two (or more) doesn t make

A Man s Search For Meaning Narrative Analysis
In a Man s Search for Meaning narrative written by, Viktor, Frankl is a Must Read book! He
honestly describes and explain his various experiences in the concentration camp, not only is he
being descriptive but he also gives an official man experience from what he has been apart of
and what was seen. This narrative allows you to better understand what was being done to these
individuals from a psychological standpoint, meaning our mental. Imagine yourself, being
tormented, tortured, verbally and physically abused, but still must hold yourself upright just to
avoid the abuse; there s no way around it. These individuals, were abused day and night; even if
they were a half of inch out of place. Frankl, begins with a question that states, But does a man
who makes his observations while he himself is a prisoner possess the necessary detachment?
Such detachment is granted to the outsider, but he is too far removed to make any statements of
real value. This stood out to me, being that I am of a female gender; I could reverse the roles to
better understand the question he posed. It is difficult to observe oneself when you are a
prisoner, not just physically but mentally. The mental is what enables us as humans to process
information but also perform daily tasks. Frankl, talks about a condition known as, delusion of
reprieve meaning that our mental tends to make us believe that there is a way out or around the
situation or maybe a consequence that will deter punishment from our actions, but in actuality
there isn t. The prisoners suffered though these illusions, quite often because they never know
when an officer may abuse them or possibly be taken to the crematorium. Frankl, also poses
another question once him and the others are forced to strip of their clothing asking; What else
remained for us as a material link with our former lives? At this point, the prisoners are now
equals. Everybody wears the same clothes, look the same and talk the same. How can one that
was a well paid doctor to now being held captive at a concentration camp? In this day in age, it
wouldn t happen. The technologies that have been developed and overall evolution, it s not
possible to conduct that type of activity anymore. Society is

My Pretivation Of Early Child Observation
My observation took place in 3 4 yrs. old preschool class. During my observation, there were 2
teachers and 7 children.
Teacher directed experience This observation part took place during circle time. The children sat
down in a large circle carpet, each on a letter. One of the teachers sat directly across the children,
with her back facing the calendar. The other teacher sat down in between two children. All the
windows were open and there was music playing softly in the background, as they got ready to
start. Teacher began by singing and playing the Good morning song, while signing the song.
Children follow the teacher and began to sing, and make movements with their hands to follow
along. They proceeded by singing the days of the week, months of the year, What s the weather
songs. Following by going over the seasons, month and day of the week. Consequently, teacher
followed by reading a story for the children. She used a felt board to assist her with the story. She
read, Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed. She smiled as she told the story, and tucked the
monkeys behind her back as they fell off. Teacher provided opportunities for children to
collaborate on solving how many monkeys were left. The children were engaged in the story, and
smiled and sang as she told the story.
Child initiated activity During the child initiated activity, I conducted my observation while they
were in free choice time. The area I focused on was the Dramatic

The alternative book cover features Marjane Satrapi at four different stages of her life. The pictures
represent a transition and provide an overview of Satrapi s life from her childhood to her return in

in Iranin the span of her departure and her return, which is few if any at all. The first picture is
Satrapi during her childhood in Iran, just after the Iranian Revolution, which deposed the Shah and

friends in order to survive. The third picture is Satrapi at around sixteen. At that point, she has
changed drastically in physical appearance. She also tried a new, more punk, look. She began
hanging out at parties and in the woods with her friends. Her habit of substance abuse, such as
smoking marijuana, also developed during her time with her friends. However, her relationship
with her friends also began to fall apart at that point, and she was kicked out of her boarding

How I Was Successful Developing Work Related Relationships
Given the amount of time that I have actually been full time, I believe that I was Highly
Successful in developing work related relationships. I feel that know our entire team and the other
two finance teams. Getting involved in activities such as Habitat for Humanity and Hyperstream
have only enhanced these relationships. I also feel that with most of the team I am to a point of if
my work is not up to par, any teammate is comfortableness with calling me out on it, and telling me
how I should improve. One area I know I can improve is working with our business partners who
submit SM tickets or have issues for the person on call. I could have improved communication with
them about the progress of the issue or SM ticket.
I have done a thorough job at making sure my work supports our team goals and standards. As
far as coding standards I am picking them up very quickly and even getting to the point of
suggesting enhancements of other peoples work to align more with our department standards. On
ISSM I have made sure to document any helpful resources that make our code more consistent,
and add comments to propose change to my teammates code, or comments to justify/agree to
change my own code in code reviews. I also do my best to integrate Agile methodologies when
appropriate. I feel that I have played a large part in helping our ISSM team start down the Agile
road.
As far as this goal, I was mostly in the learning phase of what are and how to complete the

Characteristics Of The Chesapeake And New England
With the discovery of the New World in 1492, came the English in hopes of starting again in a new
land. Through violence and other vile tactics, the English were able to remove most of the natives
from the land and start creating their new societies. While this rebuilding occurred, the English split
into two distinctive groups known as The Chesapeake and New England. In documents from both
colonies, set in the 1600 s, we will examine how the same group of people can have completely
different social characteristics, economics, and religion.
In the two regions, social structures completely differed from each other because they had
different goals for how their territory would function. In New England, the structure was almost
a complete copy of the one they had back home. Document B suggest this when it lists the
travelers of those who would be arriving in New England. The Document implies that complete
families along with their servants and herders came to New England with the idea to contain
their tight knit community way of living. They wanted everyone to be comfortable in this new
space that ultimately was there to serve as a religious sanctuary that spread the word of god.
Unlike the New England citizens who aspired to be connected the people from The Chesapeake
lived individual work focused life styles. In Document C it describes the people traveling to The
Chesapeake as most men who were at the working age. This implies that The Chesapeake citizens

The Internet And The Renaissance Age
The Renaissance age started in Italy, specifically in Florence. The economy started to change
during the 13th hundred: trade, commerce and banking grew. The Internet, on the other hand, was
invented in 1969 by a man called J.C.R Licklider. Changes Internet did to our economy are
basically employment, payments and time value. Since the world began, history has repeated itself
in extraordinary and also horrible ways. A positive example of this is the growth and improvements
in both the Renaissanceculture and the Internet made to the global economy.
During Renaissance, italian cities became more productive and a developed creative thinking.
Urban areas were commercialised and also the price of commodities were fixed. The italian culture
was prospered and the foreign exchange market, insurance, stock companies, international banking
and government debt were developed. The northern part of the country acted as the main trade
point for silk, wool, silver, cloth, spices and armour. Venicewas mostly known for book printing,
which made that city very important.
Commerce was not enough to improve wealth. Therefore some merchants also became bankers. All
banks became very important and they created a network in the middle ages that served to pay for
massive people such as princes. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Lymphoma (NHL) [36]. Original criteria had limitations such as a high variability, the failure to
consider 18FDG PET, immunohistochemistry (IHC) and flow cytometry and the failure to take
into account non nodal disease. Revised criteria by the IWG published in 2007, were applied to
NHL and also Hodgkin s disease [37]. It integrates 18FDG PET, IHC, and flow cytometry into
original criteria which adds more sensitivity to both staging and evaluation of treatment response....

The Growth Of Pre School Children
Micro II lecture 6 Endogenous income 1. At the beginning of the century, the presence of pre

women. Even until 1994, only 40 percent of women with a dependent pre school child were
economically active and likely to be part of the formal labour force. Although recent studies of
participation rates in 2014 showed a rising employment rate for married women with dependent

those without. Is such a family reason of taking care of pre school children still a major

A brief on Augmented Reality We may define Augmented Reality (AR) as a real time direct or
indirect feed of a physical real world environment that has been augmented enhanced by connecting
a virtual artificial intelligence to it. This technology aims to simply the user s life by conducting an
amount of virtual information not only directly to his environment, but also to any non immediate

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Electric Cars
Recently, I gave a research proposal, the main topic of which was the conservation of natural
resources by the introduction of automobiles running not on fossil fuels, but on electricity. My
research will deal with the advantages and working of all electric vehicles in detail and will
justify how they are a lot beneficial and how they play a great role in reducing the consumption
of natural resources and pollution. One source I am considering for my research is an article
titled Building Better Batteries for Electric Cars by Jim Witkin which was published in The New
York Times on March 30, 2011. However, I have yet to evaluate the sources and verify that it is
credible enough to be used in my research.

Writing Style The author uses easy to understand vocabulary. Moreover, he clearly explains the
mechanism and working. Moreover, he also explains some technological aspects by citing the
quotations of various experts. For example: Compared with the nickel metal hydride battery used in
the Toyota Prius, for example, a lithium ion batteryof the same weight and volume would increase
energy density two to three times, said Dr. Srinivasan. Due to his easy to interpret vocabulary, his
article gains credibility in my research.

newspaper, recent publishing date and the writing style. But I may also have to consider other
sources mainly because it does not explain all my

  • 2. Depression And Its Effects On Children Depression in Adolescents The mind is full of emotions, knowledge, memories, and much more. The adolescent stage is very complex where a child is attacked with different emotions and events where they begin to feel excluded from society. In this stage, teens start using their mind for moral behavior and decision making. This is when children, begin puberty and start an irregular hormonal stage. As physical characteristics change in a teen s body also does the perception of themselves start to develop in their mind. For example, when teenagers are not acknowledged by their peers they begin to exclude themselves from the outside world. Additionally, if the teen feels out of place they start isolating themselves from society and start a long journey of depressive thoughts. Depression is a mood disorder that causes an individual to feel sad and isolated. Depression is a mental disorder that controls the ability to feel content. There may be many reasons why depressive thoughts may occur. An article by Rick Ingram, particularly displays that the vulnerability work in parent s psychopathology may be a high risk factor for their child s depression. This theory can be dated back to different research on psychopathology like schizophreniaresearch. Psychopathology research sought after a genetic link between parent and child psychopathology. The data from the research showed that there was higher risk of depression with children that have mothers dealing with depression. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Explain How Many Utilitarian s Does It Take To Screw In... Introduction Question: How many utilitarian s does it take to screw in a light bulb? Answer: As many as are happy screwing in light bulbs! I want to stop philosophizing; but I Kant! Ha ha. Kant is all about rules and Bentham about the consequences. Jeremy Bentham, a British philosopher, economist, jurist, human rights activist and the chief expounder of Utilitarianism. Bentham born a prodigy, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree at sixteen years old. He was a radical philosopher of law and politics and gave ideas which were way ahead of his time. Immanuel Kant, a German philosopher, considered the most influential thinker of the Enlightenment era and one of the greatest western philosophers of all times. Kant s philosophy is often described ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the founder of utilitarianism, Bentham believes that an act is considered just if it produces the most happiness and the least pain for the greatest number of people affected directly, or indirectly by that action. For Bentham, happiness means giving sovereignty to pleasure over pain. Contrarily, Kant proposes that only duty and rules should dictate our actions, as the outcome is beyond our control. To Kant the only thing that matters is good will. His theory suggests that an action is either just or unjust regardless of the consequences of that same action. Bentham tried to attain his theory through hedonism and Kant his through universal maxims, neither theory beneficial to everyone. In addition, Jeremy Bentham s theory is flawed because it only considers the most happiness caused by a moral action, it neglects minorities. Similarly, Kant fully ignoring the consequences of a moral action is not a worthy idea, because at times, we may have more than one duty or obligation to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Economic Analysis and Strategies to Increase Spending Economic analysis 2006 and 2011. The five year benchmarks selected for this analysis do not well represent the fluctuations in the economy in the interim years, which have been substantial. Naturally, the fiscal crisis of 2008 to 2010 had deep and enduring impact on the national and global economies, but the bookend years of this analysis effectively obfuscate the volatility resident in those years. Fiscal year 2008, for instance, the inflationrate reached nearly 5%, the unemployment rate peaked in 2009, and the interest rate reached 5% in 2007. What this analysis does provide is a look at the stabilization of the economy without the noise of the intervening fiscal crisis. Through the monetary policyby The Fed during the fiscal crisis, efforts have been directed at maximizing employment and price stability. As a result, the interest rate will remain low with no changes anticipated until 2014. Inflation has stabilized, interest investments are low but gradually increasing, and the unemployment rate is slowly dropping but is not expected to accelerate. U.S. Economy 2006 U.S. Economy 2011 Interest rates 4.0% .25% Inflation 3.4% 3.0% Unemployment 4.9% 8.3% Strategies to Increase Spending Several strategies were employed briefly in 2009 and 2010 which produced desirable, but limited results. One was the Cash for Clunkers or Car Allowance Rebate System (CARS) bill that gave consumers vouchers for $4500 if they traded in a qualifying clunker for a new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Job Satisfaction Essay Job satisfaction is the very important factor in general quality of life because it is closely connected with working life (e.g. Argyle, 1989; Bang Lee, 2006), with family life, everyday life, and mental health (Orpen, 1978; Schmitt and Bedeian, 1982; Faragher, Cass Cooper, 2005). Level of job satisfaction is also highly related to turnover, absenteeism rate, work productivity or accomplishment (Muchinsky, 1977; Organ, 1977). Many researchers (e.g. Cherrington, 1994; Acorn, Ratner Crawford, 1997; Ostroff, 1992; Spector, 1997) state that employees who experience high job satisfaction contribute to organisational commitment, job involvement, their physical, mental health and overall well being are improved. Job dissatisfaction on the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To understand the concept of job satisfaction the research has identified two aspects of it, they are, the facets satisfaction and overall satisfaction (Cherrington,1994; Fields, 2002). Individuals can be satisfied or dissatisfied with their overall job (Ironson, Smith, Brannick, Gibson, Paul, 1989) and with specific job facets, such as the level of pay, promotion opportunities, co workers, working conditions and supervision, contingent rewards, benefits, nature of work, or communication (Spector, 1997; Locke, 1976; Smith, Kendall Hulin, 1969). The evidence shows that distinctive job facets such as pay satisfaction, opportunities for promotion, relationships with co workers and supervisors have significant effects on job satisfaction (Ting, 1997; Ellickson Logsdon, 2002; Pohlmann; 1999). The overall satisfaction is considered in terms of good salary, compassionate supervisors and co operative co workers. Conversely, the job dissatisfaction derives for instance form low pay or incompetent supervisors. Therefore, the feeling of overall satisfaction or dissatisfaction depends on the intensity and frequency of positive and negative experiences with job (Cherrington, 1994; Ironson, Smith, Brannick, Gibson, Paul, ... • 6. Jay Gatsby Influences The Great Gatsby is generally regarded as a story of love and tragedy, but in actuality, it was a story of a sad man chasing a baseless obsession with a woman and in trying to obtain this relationship, succumbing to immoral practices and ultimately dying alone. The author of The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald, is a widely acclaimed author who had a life of tragedy and loss that greatly impacted his writing. He was able to see not only the light hearted, celebratory, and successful side of the American Dream, but also the negative effects of overindulging with alcohol and incessant partying. He was able to indirectly write about himself and his losses in the stories he wrote. Unfortunately, he was not able to see how successful he had become.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All of his decisions are based on his need to feel superior and his interminable chase after the idea of Daisy that he has created. Part of the genius of the novel that Fitzgerald included was the two dimensionality of the characters. Almost all of the characters lacked a human aspect of their characterization. Fitzgerald wrote them this way on purpose. He wrote the characters of The Great Gatsby the way that he saw people around him in his everyday life: shallow and vapid. Instead of filling the novel with well rounded characters, he filled it with characters who at best made questionable decisions, even with good intentions in mind. His decision in doing this is extremely important to the themes portrayed in the novel. The Great Gatsby brought a lot of the social issues that were going on in the 20 s into the light, and in a brilliant way. Writing Jay Gatsbyas a static character was an integral part of the themes that Fitzgerald hoped to depict with the The Great Gatsby, and an extremely effective way to expose the general public of the 20s for whom Fitzgerald truly saw ... Results advertised as not typical are plastered across the screen in print almost too small to read, and scantily clad people proudly exclaim they ve achieved success with their diet plan of choice. One commercial in particular shows a less than perfect woman who doesn t appear to be extremely overweight walking through the grocery store in her silky lavender underwear. • 9. Assessing The Internal Audit Function Assessing the Internal Audit Function Auditing standards are published by the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). As such, the PCAOB published Auditing Standard Number 5 (AS 5), which recommends integrating an audit of intern controls with the audit of a firm s financial statements (PCAOBUS, 2007). An auditor s objectives of the internal controls audit and that of the financial statements are not identical, and the auditor must perform the audits to achieve both objectives. Internal Audit Objectivity Auditors of a firm s financial statements, be they external or internal auditors, have the primary objective of providing users of said financial statements with an opinion on the fairness of reported information to engender the confidence of said users (AICPA, 2012). As such, auditors must adhere to requirements set forth by the Auditing Standards Board (ASB) of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Among such requirements; objectivity is essential in performing audit duties be they external or internal audit functions. Moreover, in assessing internal controls and risks to the organization, internal auditors must also conduct themselves with objectivity and independence (TuЕЎek Pokrovac, 2012). Whereas external auditors are independent of the firm, internal auditors face more scrutiny of their objectivity as they are employed directly by the firm of which they audit. • 10. Mesopotamia And Its Impact On Mesopotamia Essay Mesopotamia was the highlight of all regions. The location falls right in between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, where modern day Iraq is today. It was located right along the fertile crescent . Because of this the soil was very rich which caused great agriculture. It was one of the first civilizations to roam the earth. During 4300 BCE, the late Ubaid period in Mesopotamiabegan. Many events and actions took place during this time. Mesopotamia was an outstanding region and contained many treasures including pottery, inventions, architecture, and Ziggurats. Pottery had a major impact on Mesopotamia. During the Ubaid period, objects were created and made of dark clay. Because of this, they often have a brown or green tint. These objects consisted of drinking cups, storage jars, bowls, and plates. The normal households pots were not as extravagant. They were roughly shaped and plain. Some jars had knobs on the side so they can be easily carried, but others had a rim that lengthened all the way around. This was the most common feature of higher quality pieces. Some of these projects were the first to be created on potter s wheels. The potter s wheel gave the advantage of making larger and more symmetrical forms at a much faster pace. Ubaid culture potters were the first to turn out their products en masse. The technical perfection of Ubaid culture potters enabled them to supply some clay products, which could replace those parts of the contemporary tool kit. Not only does ... • 11. Byzantine Mosaics And San Marco Basilica Essay Byzantine Mosaics and San Marco Basilica Intro Mosaics have been present in Italy dating back to the Romans. They were originally used in palaces, temples, and other monumental structures as a way of decoration and paving of surfaces such as walls, ceilings, and floors, however they can also serve as pictorial art. Mosaics are pictures formed by marble, stones, and vitric tesserae of various colors, placed on a layer of stucco, putty or other durable building material. Then the surfaced is finished by smoothing and polishing the stones. Byzantine mosaics, which are present in the San Marco Basilica, utilize vitric tesserae, a glass like tile, instead of marble and stone which the Romans and Greeks traditionally used. It remains a building stone in the fact that the material cannot adapt itself to the intricate turns of cutting tools. Each tesserae is shaped by the artist s hammer out of a block of colored stone or vitreous paste. Byzantine mosaics have a rough character to them whereas other styles such as Hellenistic mosaics have a smooth polished look to them. Byzantine mosaics outline the human figure in dark contours which removes its softness and reveals its own character by detaching itself from the object represented. The tesserae are larger in size and do not form a solid surface, instead are placed freely with clear intervals between each piece. I envision myself in a career where I work interchangeably between an artist and fine art teacher. As a young girl, I always dreamed about becoming a teacher. Many people often seem dumbfounded, they ask, why teaching? I find that they overlook the impact that teaching can have. William Arther Ward once said, The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires. Many of my professors throughout school have profoundly impacted me. The most phenomenal teachers that left a profound and influential effect on me were my art teachers, such as Nancy Crawford, Heather Ujiie, and Moe Brooker. Causes And Effects Of Unemployment Causes and Effects of Unemployment Travis Epling Strayer University ENG 105 Jeanette Trammel 9/14/14 Causes and Effects of Unemployment There are many reasons for unemployment in the United States and around the world. Some of these causes are created by the individual and others are out of their control. No matter what the cause for unemployment, it has a devastating effect on the individual, family, and economy. Unemployment defined by the Encyclopedia Britannica is the condition of one who is capable of working, actively seeking work, but is unable to find any work. In addition, to define a person as unemployed, the person must be an active member of the labor force in search of work. (Encyclopedia Britannica, 2012)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Monetary Effects Because unemployed people receive benefits from the government, there is a correlation between unemployment and increased government spending. The Employment Act of 1946 gave the government the responsibility of maintaining a high employment level of labor and price stability. The effects of this increased spending for unemployment benefits is that other government programs suffer a loss in their financial support. It also causes a decrease in the growth of the GDP. There are less people working so less goods and services are being produced and with fewer people to spend money in the economy there are less goods and services being purchased. This causes a decrease in demand of products and causes producers to lower their selling price to avoid a surplus. When the producer lowers their selling price, it causes the consumer price index to fall. Social Effects Various social effects spring from the people who are unemployed. They affect both our communities and the unemployed. The skills and knowledge from the unemployed is lost to our economy which keeps our economy from reaching its full potential. There is also an increase in crime and social strife during times of high unemployment. Chaos thus expresses the unpredictable underlying order of attractors and allows the complex behavior observed in the brain. • 31. Home To Harlem Analysis In his analysis of Claude McKay s Home to Harlem, Shane Vogel refers to the text as a piece of literature which is invested in affective mimesis. Essentially, the text is interested in the reproduction of feelings and senses. The success of the text is based on the audience s ability to feel what McKay wants them to feel. Of course, this method has its limits. How will a non black audiencecapable of absorbing the material presented exactly as McKay means for it to be interpreted? The answer to that question, of course, is that this text was not produced for consumption by white audiences. This has been established by McKay s response to W.E.B. Du Bois s criticisms of Home to Harlem, where it is staunchly established that McKay s portrayal of African American individuals is for African Americans themselves the text portrays a series of experiences which can only be understood by an in group, and that is that. Thus, McKay s affective mimesis, or the elliptical sensorium of pleasure he produces, aims not to depict Harlem as a spectacle, but as a place in which his audience already knows and already exists in. Ultimately, the story of Home to Harlem exemplifies a never ending series of knowing and unknowing one s surroundings and one s home. This is reinforced by the novel s looping plot structure. McKay s formulation of the text does not give us an interpretation of diaspora, then it aims to reproduce the feelingof diaspora in our hearts. First, let us consider how the structure of the novel s plot reinforces the dual complexity of identity and remembrance. Home to Harlem is a text defined by its astounding structural redundancy. At a glance, hydrogen can be considered as an ideal substitute to fossil fuels. Hydrogen provides about three times of renewable energy harnessed from natural gas. When hydrogen is used in energy production, pure water is emitted as the sole by product of the process (Radhi 12). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He honestly describes and explain his various experiences in the concentration camp, not only is he being descriptive but he also gives an official man experience from what he has been apart of and what was seen. This narrative allows you to better understand what was being done to these individuals from a psychological standpoint, meaning our mental. Imagine yourself, being tormented, tortured, verbally and physically abused, but still must hold yourself upright just to avoid the abuse; there s no way around it. These individuals, were abused day and night; even if they were a half of inch out of place. Frankl, begins with a question that states, But does a man who makes his observations while he himself is a prisoner possess the necessary detachment? Such detachment is granted to the outsider, but he is too far removed to make any statements of real value. This stood out to me, being that I am of a female gender; I could reverse the roles to better understand the question he posed. It is difficult to observe oneself when you are a prisoner, not just physically but mentally. The mental is what enables us as humans to process information but also perform daily tasks. Frankl, talks about a condition known as, delusion of reprieve meaning that our mental tends to make us believe that there is a way out or around the situation or maybe a consequence that will deter punishment from our actions, but in actuality there isn t. The prisoners suffered though these illusions, quite often because they never know when an officer may abuse them or possibly be taken to the crematorium. Frankl, also poses another question once him and the others are forced to strip of their clothing asking; What else remained for us as a material link with our former lives? At this point, the prisoners are now equals. Everybody wears the same clothes, look the same and talk the same.
