How Cram Changed My Life Essay
What happened next changed his life. The first thing Cram noticed, true to himself, was the
architecture. Overall, he was unimpressed with the style, which he never came to appreciate. For about
thirty minutes, Cram battled boredom, until the service started. He described the experience in his own
words:
Then, in their white and gold vestments, the sacred ministers came silently to the high altar, attended
by crucifers, thurifers and acolytes, and stood silently waiting. Suddenly came the bells striking the
hour of midnight, and with the last clang the great organs and the choir burst into a melodious thunder
of sound; the incense rose in clouds, filling the church with a veil of pale smoke; and the Mass
proceeded to its climax with the offering of the Holy Sacrifice of the Body and Blood of Christ. I did
not understand all of this with my mind, but I understood.
After a life growing up in the home of a pastor, studying art, and designing architecture, Cram s
accidental preparation enabled him to understand the experience in a way no one else ... Show more

In May of 1910, the leading businesspeople of Far Rockaway gathered to dedicate the Russell Sage
Memorial Church. In structuring the building, Cram and his associates intentionally shifted theology
to the forefront by moving the organ. One architecture magazine pointed out that in Protestant
churches at that time, the organ often overshadowed both the pulpit and the communion table, but in
Sage Memorial, the organ and choir had been relegated to the sides, highlighting the pulpit and table.
At the dedication, a memorial address proclaimed that the very erection of such a building as this for
His glory is a witness to a believer s sense of his unrivaled greatness and majesty. The architect
theologian designed the church to convey theology and manifest an experience of God s

Becoming An Emergency Medical Technician
This spring semester makes my third semester attending College of the Canyons, or any college for
that matter. It has been a wonderful experience for I ve managed to build relationships with a diverse
group of both students and instructors all working towards their goals as well as achieving a milestone
in my ultimate pursuit to become a physician. This previous fall semester I undertook the challenge of
becoming an Emergency Medical Technician and I am proud to say that I succeeded, for I passed the
course and received my certification in early December. In late January I took my National Registry in
order to be certified as an EMT B on a national level, and as I skimmed through the results I
experienced tunnel vision with the word congratulations in the center. ... Show more content on

career milestone, of being accepted into the College of the Canyons Nursing Program. Subsequently,
after successful completion and certification of the nursing program I would transfer to, a yet
undecided, University of California in an effort to work towards a Bachelor s of Science in Nursing. I
remain unsure of the exact route I will pursue in order to reach my ultimate goal of physician.
Consequently, this one of the many reasons why I love the medical field for its limitless opportunities
to obtain skills and abilities to help those in

Populism Debate
It came as no surprise that Trump won the south easily. In the deep south, one would assume that
Trumps demagogic styled populism would give Trump more support than Romney received four years
prior; and in Mississippi and Alabama this may be true, Trump saw only a small increase or decrease
in vote share in Louisiana, South Carolina, and Georgia. In the South, Mississippi and Alabama had
the highest increase in vote share for Trump. Interestingly, Louisiana, a state very similar to both only
saw less than half a percent increase. An explanation for this could be that, compared with AL and
MS, Louisiana s population is more urban. Furthermore, the suburban Republicans seem to be less
motivated by Trumps candidacy. You can even see this effect ... Show more content on

In Mississippi and Alabama however, Trumps populism strongly appealed to each states respective
more rural population. Echoing a populist message tinged with winks and nods on racism, Trump
seemed like an easier fit for the state of George Wallace, and Ross Barnett. South Carolina is unique
from Louisiana, in the way that SC has more of a business Republican presence. And while race still
effects politics in South Carolina, racial politics aren t as harsh as LA, MS, or AL. Although SC has
the longest root to the Confederacy, the state managed to elect an Indian governor, and an African
American Senator. This, if anything, shows a there s a stark contrast between SC, MS, and AL. In
Georgia, the urban metropolis, Atlanta, is the anchor for Georgia politics; and the main reason why
Georgia seems to be breaking away from the staunchly republican mold of the region. In the deep
south states, Georgia had the highest decrease of Republican vote share. As Atlanta builds a strong
African American middle class, and embraces it s growing progressive populace, Georgia continues to
get bluer. Like the turn Virginia or North Carolina, GA is seeing a similar path toward becoming a

Tiger Woods Research Paper
Tiger Woods has been hailed as one of the greatest golfers, if not athletes, of all time. He has trumped
other golfers and sports observers for the past 19 years as he has climbed and prevailed in the golf
world. Tiger s success has been accredited to many factors in his life, and has varied throughout the
years having his ups and downs. The purpose of this paper is to give a valid argument as to why Tiger
Woods could possibly be the greatest golfer of all time. Tiger s success is highly accredited to his
father, who sculpted Tiger s skill set to the level it is at today. Woods was born in Cypress, California,
to Earl and Multiday Woods. He is the only child of their marriage; however, he does have two half
brothers, Earl Grand Kevin, and a half sister, Royce from the 18 year marriage of Earl Woods and his
first wife, Barbara Woods Gray. Earl, a retired lieutenant colonel and Vietnam War veteran, was of
mostly African American, as well as Caucasian, and possible Native American and Chinese, ancestry.
Multiday, originally from Thailand, is of mixed Thai, Chinese, and Dutch ancestry.

The Democracy Of Colour By Philip Cowan
Thesis (main point of the article/source): In The Democracy of colour, author Philip Cowan outlines a
brief overview of the use of colour in film by noting the contribution of cinematography and the
relatively blind eye given to the study of colour. Although all cinematographers have their own
outlook towards colour schemes, a deeper meaning is redefined between the psychological and
cultural use of colour. The use of colour psychologically requires an understanding that is more
universally consistent. This creates an emotional response from the observers. Cultural use of colour
varies from different regional areas. Typical use of colour creates symbolism that has no psychological
or cultural meaning without setting a balanced, contextual association that connects it to viewers.
Cowan challenged Russell s argument that the fundamental component in film production can be
controlled by the cinematographer, with the use of art direction and set design, by stating that a
cinematographer can not control the colour, but contribute different elucidations towards a film s
images. Method: To help understand the method used to evaluate the different colour schemes used in
films, Cowan interprets many different films and the director s reasons behind the colours chosen for
their films. In Alexander Nevsky, the use of white hoods for the Teutonic Knights were used to
represent ruthlessness, as opposed to the typical mentality of innocence. This contrast used by

Essay On Norma Jeane Mortenson
The Unsolved Murder of Marilyn Monroe
Give a girl the right pair of shoes and she ll conquer the world , this is one of the many quotes from
Marilyn Monroe during her successful career. Unfortunately, the shoe did not fit Monroe on the date
of August 5, 1962. Marilyn Monroe, or Norma Jeane Mortenson, was found naked and lifeless in her
bed around five in the morning at her home in Los Angeles. The cause of her death is indoctrinated to
be probable suicide. However, evidence and extensive research point all fingers to the Kennedy
brothers in the murder of model and actress, Marilyn Monroe.
Norma s early life was one of the contributing factors to her intention of success. On June 1, 1926,
Norma Jeane Mortenson was born in Los Angeles, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Monroe had been locked in her bedroom of her Fifth Helena Drive Household. Not much evidence
supported the cause of her death at the crime scene.
Upon completion of the report, it is clear that an examination of the unresolved murder is imperative.
No stone will be left unturned; no avenues left unexplored. To seek justice for Marilyn Monroe and
her family, an in depth analysis must be organized in order to comprehend the data and identify a
possible killer.
Little Evidence was found at the crime scene to link a particular suspect. The room Monroe was
murdered in seemed as if nothing ever happened. Besides a telephone in her hand, no item provided a
reasoning for her death. One of the major controversies of her death was the emptiness of her stomach.
During the Autopsy of her body, suicide did not cross any of the doctor s minds. There was no pill
residue in her stomach and with the number of capsules she would have to have ingested there should
have been some evidence of it. What that means, Mcneil adds, is that there s a strong suspicion she
might have been injected (McNeil 1). Monroe was known to take pills but to be diagnosed with
probable suicide with no pill residue in her stomach is suspicious.
Not only was there no pill residue, but there was no water glass as well. Officer Clemmons, the man
who was first to the scene, stated that No water glass was initially found

Clarence Thomas is just the second African American...
Clarence Thomas is just the second African American justice to serve on the Supreme Court. Until the
very recent confirmations of both Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Alito, for the past twenty five plus
years, Thomas had been the last conservative to be named to the current court, which is the complete
opposite of his predecessor Justice Thurgood Marshall. Thomas confirmation hearings have gone
down in history as those containing the most drama. His hearings would produce such intense
arguments over race and gender. Thomas is one of the most publicly criticized justices in the history of
the Supreme Court. The primary reason for that is the uncommon connection between his views and
the color of his skin. Many black and white ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thomas believed that blacks were defeating the purpose that they had worked so hard in the past
decades to gain. By self segregating blacks were turning away from the real world. And so, rather than
separating himself from the Black Student Union and their personal corridor, he made a compromise
by deciding to live in the corridor, with his white roommate. (Thomas 117, Foskett 99 102) Thomas
was involved in the political scene at a very early age. After just two short years in Washington,
Thomas began working in President Reagan s administration. Thomas was a rarity in Washington. In
the Washington Post Thomas was introduced to the public. The article read, He is one of the black
people now on center stage in American politics: he is a republican, a long time supporter of Ronald
Reagan, opposed to the minimum wage law, rent control, busing and affirmative action. (Foskett 152)
For eight years Thomas served on the Equal Employment Opportunity Committee under Ronald
Reagan. (Foskett 161 2) On June 30, 1991 President Bush nominated Thomas to the Supreme Court.
Similar to all nominees Thomas was sure to be asked many difficult and personal questions. And
being a black conservative, and to many liberals and democrats, viewed as a traitor, passing his
confirmation hearings and gaining approval from the senate would be no easy task. If that weren t
enough, Anita Hill made matters far more difficult when she accused Thomas of sexual harassment,

The Theme Of Revolt Of The Rats By Reed Blitzerman
Revolt of the Rats by Reed Blitzerman is a suspense novella following two storylines: one is set in
Depression era America and the second in the automotive industry in the 1990s. Kahle Desireau
applies for a job at Motomax automotive plant; he has just left the army after six years of service. His
primary motivation for considering Motomax is that he wants to be near Beezor Wasikowska, the
woman of his infatuation. The Frampton plant readily employs Kahle, and thus begins his new career
as a factory rat. The second storyline focuses on Eli Steiner, a farmer struggling to keep his
smallholding during the Great Depression. Once he recovers from smallpox, he establishes a second
industry, a machine shop, on his land. He intends the shop to be ... Show more content on

Important aspects of the story are unclear, namely Kahle s ability to see auras, his military background
and what his story had to do with Eli s. At times, I wondered if some details and characters were
forgotten in the course of the writing. Because of this, the story had a stilted, perfunctory quality that
made it difficult to read and confusing to navigate. It read like a first draft, not a finished product. The
end of the story never resolved the problems or questions set by the premise. I understand that this is
the first book of a series, but a clear, resolved ending is more satisfying to a reader than a blunt one.
Since Revolt of the Rats needs professional editing and a tighter rein to keep the plot on track, I would
not recommend it to readers, so I give it 2 out of 4. The editing and typesetting issues were the main
reasons I could not give this book a higher rating, but the undeveloped nature of the story took it down
another rating point. The theme of Revolt of the Rats has the potential to appeal to an audience living
in a capitalist economy and certainly will once the story is polished, professionally edited and
developed into a finished

Jackie Robinson Traits
Once i went to the Women s March and they were protesting everyone came together and they were
determined to get their point across. They also came together as citizens to make sure something was
done about this matter. Jackie Robinson also had to showed a lot of determination when he stuck for
what he thought was right. He also showed citizenship by helping people of color,by giving them a
chance for success. Jackie robinson possessed the character traits of determination and citizenship, that
made him a successful civil rights advocate.
One way Jackie Robinson showed citizenship was when he helped colored citizens when he gave
them a chance to be successful in life. For example, according to the text ¨Jackie Robinson Civil
Activist, ¨Robinson stood for his principles no matter anyone said¨ (Anderson and Moser). This shows
Citizenship because Robinson stood for what he thought was right. This made Jackie Robinson a civil
rights advocate because he knew what he wanted for the U.S.A and he was committed to get it. ...

Recently I attended the 2016 ILMEA District 8 Music Festival. While I got the opportunity to create

the pieces. Each piece was a contemporary band arrangement. The band played four pieces: Play! by
Carl Holmquist, Rest by Frank Ticheli, Spoon River by Percy Grainger as well as Carson Naylor, and
Galop by Dimitri Shostokovich and Hunsberger. They started out performing the song, Play!. Play!
was written by Carl Holmquist who is a relatively young composer, that is still alive today. He is a

flutes for a brief moment before being handed back to the brass section. The influence of the fiddle is
heard throughout the music as the instruments with the theme trill as a fiddle would while playing.
The influence of war marches is also heavily heard in the rest of the band when they don t have the

Disaster Recovery Plan And Related Contingency...
Introduction
This document includes the disaster recovery plan and related contingency requirements for Jeeb s
Band and Trust. It consists of detailed written practices and procedures to mitigate interruptions to
critical information systems and the loss of data and services from the effects of natural or man made
disasters. The DRP applies both major, usually catastrophic, events that deny access to the normal
facility for an extended period, and to less catastrophic events that may deny access to only portions of
the facility or certain systems. The DRP is an IT focused plan and therefore may also be referenced as
a Technology Recovery Plan which has been designed to restore operability of the designated systems
and applications in Jeeb s Bank and Trust s data center facility at an alternate site (or within the
existing facility if not a total loss) after an emergency.
This DRP was developed by Jeeb s Bank and Trust Information Technology group.
Purpose
The purpose of this DRP defines the requirement for a baseline disaster recovery plan to be developed
and implemented by Jeeb s Bank and Trust that will describe the process to recover IT systems,
Applications and Data from any type of disaster that causes a major outage.
Note that in the event of a disaster the first priority of Jeeb s Bank and Trust is to prevent loss of life.
Before any secondary measures can be taken. Jeeb s Bank and Trust will make sure that all employees,

Mental Health Issues For Asylum Seekers
The issue of asylum seekers recently was reignited, with the dramatic increase in the number of illegal
boats arriving in Australia. From the 30th of September 2013, there were a reported 6,403 people in
closed detention, this number including 1,078 children. It is not surprising from these high detention
rates and poor living standards that between January 2011 and February 2013 that there were 4,313
reported incidents of actual, threatened or attempted serious self harm in these immigration detention
facilities. From 12 deaths that occurred between the 1st of July 2010 and the 20th of June 2013 6 of
these have been found by coroners to be suicides (Triggs, 2013). These statistics are incredibly
alarming, especially when not much action is being taken to prevent not only mental illness but also
the consequences of prolonged mental illness suicide. The purpose of this report is to analyse and
scrutinize the reason why mental health issues for asylum seekers are becoming an issue in Australia,
and find out what exactly is being done to combat this ever growing issue in Australia.
An asylum seeker is a person who has fled their own country and applied for protection as a refugee.
As an asylum seeker their experience is extremely different to that of a Migrant. A Migrant chooses to
leave their home country, and can choose where to go and when they might return to their home
country, whereas, an asylum seeker or refugee are forced to flee their country for their own safety,

Rain Water Case Study
Does permitting Colorado residents to harvest rain water by means of a rain barrel, affect the water
flows for senior water rights holders and downstream users? Review of a small sensitivity analysis
conducted by a private party in Douglas County indicates there is no significant impact if resident do
so. Colorado has an old law with regard to harvesting rain water. The law states, the State of Colorado
has claim to all the water and moisture which falls in the state, therefore, a resident is not permitted to
collect water. Some believe permitting Colorado residents to harvest rain water is a violation of the
doctrine of prior appropriations. The study labeled, Holistic Approach to Sustainable Water
Management in northwest Douglas County was designed to show what percentage of return flows
would make it back to the stream for downstream users if collected first. The study was held in an

we want to maximize net benefit today rather than in the future. Colorado is one of the very last states

Kate Chopin is an author who stands out to society for being primarily a skillful colorist. Chopin is
recognized for her novels and short stories written as a young adult. As an author, the literary world
knows her for the themes of her many novels; trite and sordid, although many authors still praised her
as a realist. Kate Chopin was a masterful colorist representing her personal and professional Louisiana
life, and labeled writings with unpleasantness.
Kate O Flaherty was brought to the world on February 8, 1851 in St. Louis, Missouri. Born to her
parents Eliza Faris and Thomas O Flaherty . Her father, Thomas, was an irish born business man for
the family. He died in a railroad accident when Kate was only five years old. Her mother s side ...

Commotion occurred when Herbert S. Stone and company published The Awakening in 1899. The
novel has an exerted appeal in countries ranging from France to Japan. Kate s book was received with
great indignation. Critics claimed that Chopin was a pornographer and that her novel was immoral and
even perverse. A critic for Nation noted the unpleasantness of reading about the allegedly headstrong
protagonist. Willa Carter also complained that Chopin had wasted her writing skills on a sordid and
trite theme. Kate s novel was widely criticized for going against society s moral standards. There was
some praise for the novel s artistry and insight, critics generally denounced Chopin for her failure to

The Essence Of The Beauty Of Love
Running Into Love at Unexpected Times
Many people find themselves hypnotized whenever they stumble into live at unexpected times. Indeed
love is one of the most spontaneous phenomena ever. One just never knows when it strikes, or even
stops. Some analysts say that this is the essence of the beauty of love. While this is a widely debatable
stance, you can at least learn how to respond to the spontaneity so you are not caught unawares;
forewarned is foretold.
I m one of those spontaneous and unpredictable people. This makes it hard to sustain the relationships
I develop. I shock my prospective partners out of my cycle with my sporadic and sometimes
unreasonable reaction and effusions. I m stirred into action by new things and have a knack for the
adrenaline pumping situations. It is not a wonder, therefore, that I prefer extreme sports.
My temperament, as I have alluded earlier is not exactly calm. In fact it is one volatile aspect of my
personality. I don t trust myself sometimes. I often yell, scream and snap at people. Most of those
close to me; or within contact distance often mumble and dismiss me as a psycho not worth their
while.
Relishing the Combat Missions
I must have mentioned earlier that I love extreme sports. I really don t think it is the sporting part that
thrills me. It must be the extreme element. My personality naturally led me to enlist with the army.
Love had always bee an elusive experience and concept to me. I say this because every time I though I

Structure and Development of the Australian Curriculum Essays
An Australian Curriculum has been en route for almost three decades, but due to inadequate support of
its implementation, the ongoing developments had been short lived, until now. This essay will discuss
how an Australian Curriculum is a major priority for the 21st century and will look at the construction
of this new curriculum including the impact that historic and current learning has had on present
developments. Models of curriculum have always provided support to educators, so how do these
models relate to the Australian Curriculum? Are they still suitable reference points? And what is the
view of the learner? There are many definitions of curriculum, but this essay is going to discuss which

technology competence, critical and capable thinking, ethical behaviour, personal and social
competence and intellectual understanding. These capabilities can be addressed through the eight
learning areas, which have been or are going to be included in the national curriculum. The four

A Separate Peace Poem Analysis
Peace is the absence of hostilities, such as war, self doubt and guilt, disagreements with others,
internal bitterness, and sickness. In the novel A Separate Peace, WW2 is raging in Europe and in the
Pacific with men dying by the thousands each month, yet at the Vermont preparatory school of Devon
a peace independent of the War exists where there at is no fear of death, loss of one s sanity and
conscience, and fear of degradation. This is all until a cloud of hostility forms over Devon and over
the lives of the two main characters, Gene and Finny. Many times over the course of the novel, this
cloud of hostility parts over the skies of Devon allowing for Peace to shine over the school and the
boys, but only temporarily until the cloud of hostility ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this time there are no hostilities between Gene and Finny as there is nothing which could
create hostilities due to the lack of academics, athletics, stress, students, and competition. However, as
the summer season ends, the fall season starts in full swing and with it comes all of the strict
headmasters, fall sports, and 700 students arriving for the new school year. The start of the fall season
marks the first breakdown of peace between Finny and Gene as competition between them erupts.
This competition is mostly marked by Gene s jealousy over Finny s athletic ability and popularity in
relation to his. During this time, both desire to just be friends, but Gene in particular has trouble
overcoming his hostility, making the pursuit of peace seem difficult very difficult. This is very similar
to how the main character in the poem Peace by George Herbert had extreme difficulty finding peace
at first as he was unable to search deep enough and let the hostility wear away. The real tipping point
in the novel is when Gene breaks the branch in the tree that Finny was standing on, causing him to fall
and shatter his leg. This at first causes a massive hostility between them as Finny is very bitter about
Gene causing his injury but this time Gene is extremely sorry for it and he

Similarities Between The Beatles and Pink Floyd
Pink Floyd and the Beatles had more in common then they re often credited. Both bands members
were raised in the United Kingdom. The original framework for The Beatles was conspired by the best
friends, John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Likewise, Pink Floyd was created by best friends Nick
Mason and Roger Waters. By the same token, both bands were founded while the members received
their education. World War II was a pin point in each of the band members lives, if not directly
affecting them, then they were affected through their parents. Ironically, the two bands were also
branded for the sixties, largely the Beatles who were believed to be an instrument, attempted to be
used for ending the Vietnam War. As musicians often feel pressured ... Show more content on

This was the least of the confusion, the two bands matters were in original instrument choice among
the members, music style, the band members themselves, and at last the band names. Coincidentally,
both bands lost a member who motivated the group; Stuart Sutcliffe for the Beatles, and Syd Barrett
mentally handicapped before Pink Floyd s success. The most common factor for the two United
Kingdom, sixties era bands is that they both succeeded. With so many coincidences, the bands also
have their contrasting factors. The Beatles on one hand were largely public, acquiring names such as
the Quarry Men, instead Pink Floyd was underground and frolicked with names like T Set or Abdabs.
Large differences between the two bands are their rises in popularity. For Pink Floyd s underground
scene, they were not at the peak of their popularity in America until the early seventies; The Beatles
were into the Pop Culture which gave them leeway to high popularity. The war and Counterculture
provided the Beatles a great opportunity to experiment with their music, while Pink Floyd changed
largely because Barrett wanted to try mystique music which suited the culture a smidge better than the
blues. Because the controversial rises of fame, the bands trademark movies were created in totally
different generations; Yellow Submarine was released in 1968, Pink Floyd s The Wall was released in
1982. This presents why their strikingly similar reputations

X Ray Irradiation Essay
The aim of this study is to research the mechanisms and therapeutic effects of x ray treatment on rats
after spinal cord injury. Their hypothesis was that x ray irradiation could alter the microcirculation of
the injured site, impede the deterioration of the spinal cord, and advance the recovery of structure and
function after spinal cord injury in rats.
Their methodology involved investigating the x ray irradiation treatment in an experimental spinal
cord injury model. Then they could analyze the effect of x ray irradiation on the restoration of
neuromotor functions. For their experimental design, 46 female Sprague Dawley rats were exposed to
spinal cord injury using the altered Allen weight drop mechanism. These rats were then separated ...

X ray therapy stimulates the reconstruction of the spinal cord system after injury. The experiments
also indicated that the anatomical rehabilitation of the spinal cord injured region is probably contrived
from the x ray treatment. The results demonstrated that the irradiation treatment possibly advances the
restoration of the spinal cord central nervous system. In the sham operated group, the NF count greatly
increased at 14 weeks compared to 6 weeks. This revealed that the spinal cord central nervous system
has a self repair mechanism after spinal cord injury. There was no considerable disparity in the 10 Gy
and the 20 Gy group from this experiment. In our results myelin showed first a decrease, and then an
increase following spinal cord injury in rats. This outcome indicated that the spinal cord injury and
repair coexisted, by being injured first and then repairing it. In addition, the myelin count significantly
decreased in the irradiation group at week 14 after spinal cord injury, which showed that ionizing
radiation also has lasting impacts on the spinal cord central nervous system. All in all, this experiment
successfully verified that local x irradiation could help the regeneration of the spinal cord in a rat

How The Mac Is A Medium Access Control Protocol
Introduction : This paper discusses about the S MAC , which is a Medium Access Control Protocol
used in wireless sensor networks . The protocol proposed in the paper is mainly inspired by PAMAS .
The important goals of this protocol is to conserve energy and configure by itself or known as
scalability . It is entirely different from traditional mac protocols like ieee 802.11. The protocol uses
three primary techniques to support energy conserving and self configuration . they periodically sleep
to minimize energy consumption , then formation of virtual clusters by neighbor nodes for auto
synchronization on sleep times and radios are also set to sleep during transmissions of other node .
Then S mac uses message passing and in channel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2) periodic listen and sleep : in this the listen time is reduced by letting go the node into periodic sleep
.
a) basis scheme : in this node goes to sleep for a specified time and then wakes up to listen if any node
wants to communicate with it . A timer is set during sleep and the radio of the node is also turned off .
A periodic synchronization is between neighbor nodes for their correct clock timings . Two techniques
are used to synchronization one is timestamps exchanged are relative other than being absolute.
Another technique is listen is period is longer than clock error or drift . To reduce control overhead
neighbor nodes should be preferred to synchronize together . to be noted that all neighboring nodes
cant synchronize together . then all nodes broadcast their schedule to all its immediate neighbors this
for ensuring that all neighbor can talk with different schedule times . If multiple nodes want to talk to
a node , this can be done by contention mechanism using request to send and clear to send packets .
here first come first serve basis , node which send first will grab the medium . here the formation of
nodes are done in flat topology .
b) choosing and maintaining schedules : each node maintains its own schedule table where its
neighbor nodes schedule are stored. First node listens for a particular time , if it is not hearing from
another node it randomnly goes to sleep with broadcasting a SYNC message .

Melting Point Range Lab Report
The first part of the experiment focused on finding the melting point range of known substances, Trans
cinnamic acid and Urea. The Trans cinnamic acid had a melting point range of 133.0 135.8℃. Urea
had a melting point range of 132.5 135.8℃. However, when a 50/50 mixture was created of the two
substances, the melting point range was 98.8 132℃, 40 degrees less than the two known substances.
This is due to an impurity of the 50/50 mixture. Each substance was acting as an impurity to the other
substance. The expected range for Trans cinnamic acid was 132 135℃ and Urea had an expected
range of 132 133℃. Trans cinnamic acid and Urea are similar compounds but lack identical structure,

A ramp rate was first used to obtain the approximate melting point of the unknown before obtaining a
more accurate melting point range of the unknown substance. Based on the rapid heating rate of the
test, it was determined that the unknown substance was either Trans cinnamic acid or Benzoin due to
the wider melting point range at 132℃. After the second, slower heating rate, it was determined that
the unknown might be Benzoin due to the wider melting point range. However, when experimented
with the unknown and the Benzoin, the 50/50 mixture melted before the other 2 compounds had begun
to change states because it was acting as an impurity instead of melting at the same time. If the
unknown and the possibly known substance were the same compound, those two compounds plus the
mixture would have melted at the same time. The Trans cinnamic acid was then compared to the
unknown substance, which resulted in two compounds and the mixture melting at the same time,
which had a melting point range of 133 to 136.2℃. According to the results of the melting point
ranges given, the melting point range of Trans cinnamic acid should be 132 135℃. The experimented
results were 133 136.2℃, which are about a degree higher than what they should be, but the
compounds and the 50/50 mixture all melted at the same time, making the unknown substance Trans

Ernest Hemingway Style Analysis
The Themes and Styles of Ernest Hemingway
Ernest Hemingway was regarded as one of the greatest American novelists and short story writers,
winning both the Pulitzer and Nobel Prizes. His best known works include The Sun Also Rises, A
Farewell to Arms, For Whom the Bell Tolls, and The Old Man and the Sea. He is also famous for his
terse dialogue and understatement. (Frohock 1) His themes tend to be of courage, gender, emotions,
and image. Hemingway s history as a soldier and world traveler is what influenced the plot and
themes of his novels and short stories.
Born on July 21, 1899, Ernest Hemingway grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and served in Italy
during World War I as an ambulance driver for the American Red Cross. During the war Hemingway
was injured on the Austro Italian front and sent to a hospital in Milan. (Young 2) After the war he
worked as a foreign correspondent for the Toronto Star, which allowed him to travel frequently. As a
journalist he made multiple trips to Spain during their civil war and Europe during the Second World
War. Trips like this during his career in journalism ultimately led to his even more successful career in
short story and novel writing. (Young 3)
As stated by Frohock, Hemingway writes in a terse style, meaning that his sentences lack unnecessary
details and he uses only the bare minimum amount of words to convey his message. Terse could be
described as telling a story in the simplest, most straight forward fashion. Another

Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus And Mellitus
Introduction:
Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus is a disease that occurs when insulin producing beta cells of the pancreas are
damaged or are being destroyed (Mahan, Escott Stump Raymond, 2012). The gradual destruction of
the beta cells of the pancreas usually leads to complete insulin deficiency, which ultimately manifests
itself in the following symptoms at clinical onset: high blood glucose (hyperglycemia), frequent
urination (polyuria), excessive thirst (polydipsia), and a significant amount of weight loss,
dehydration, electrolyte disturbances and ketoacidosis , requiring dependency of exogenous insulin in
order to promote optimal glycemic control in order to prevent further more severe complications; such
as, ketoacidosis, microvascular diseases, macrovascular diseases, neuropathy, or worse Death (Mahan
et al., 2012). Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus can result from two existing forms: 1. Immune mediated
diabetes Mellitus, which is characterized by autoimmune destruction of the beta cells of the pancreas
and an idiopathic (unknown cause) commonly seen in ethnic groups of African or Asian descent
(Mahan et al., 2012). Of all diagnosed diabetes cases, prevalence of Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus cases
account for 5% 10%, and although onset may present itself at any age, 70% of cases are diagnosed in
young adults (younger than age 30), with a peak in occurring incidences seen mostly in children and
adolescents (Mahan et al., 2012). In the United States, approximately 1 in every 400

Impact Of Sociobiology On Theology
9. Discuss sociobiology and its possible impacts on theology. (10 points) Sociobiology is the scientific
study of the biological (especially ecological and evolutionary) aspects of social behavior in animals
and humans. The implications of sociobiology for theology are developed with respect to the general
impact of basic evolutionary ideas, the reductionist assumptions of sociobiologists, whether or not
survival can be a value, and more holistic accounts of the physical and biological grounding of the
mental and spiritual lives of human beings. An often heard criticism of sociobiology accuses it of
justifying existing injustices. For example, opponents say sociobiology supports the belief that people
of darker skin color are intellectually inferior to those with lighter skin. Additionally, opponents
suggest that following what sociobiology says is human nature only continues the injustices. In reality,
sociobiology really does not support this interpretation. Biological inclinations contain what many
would consider both altruistic and evil. To discriminate between them and to emphasize the more
appropriate is the task of social reflection. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

leaving these ethical codes as inadequate where they encounter biology. Thus, morality cannot really

Throughout the novella, The House On Mango Street, author Sandra Cisneros conveys Esperanza s
ideas and thoughts through her everyday surroundings. The metaphors in this bildungsroman exploit
Esperanza s maturity growth from start to finish. Without these metaphors, it would be a significant
challenge for the reader to comprehend and connect with Esperanza. Cisneros demonstrates the
themes of the evolution of thinking and personality through the metaphor of balloons, trees, and bums.
First of all, Cisneros showcases the metaphor of balloons as Esperanza s personal views about being
stuck in Mango Street. Cisneros makes an apparent connection to having some sense of shame with
being an occupant of Mango Street. Esperanza carries this burden of shame around with her, similar to
a red balloon, a balloon tied to an anchor (Cisneros 9). This develops an image in the reader s mind,
allowing them to see the balloon, free to move around, but with no range or hope of becoming
unattached to the anchor. Cisneros conveys that Esperanza is fed up with her temporary (5) life that
should only last for the time being (5). The reader learns that it is near impossible to simply leave the
neighborhood, and leave the shame behind with the neighborhood itself. Cisneros also chooses the
color red for Esperanza s balloon. This is significant because since red is a standout color, the shame
of Mango Street stands out to those who have not experienced anything similar to this type of
neighborhood. Such a burden singles out Esperanza in the crowd, making her unfavorably unique.
This includes being seen as the other half of society, that is unsuccessful and that barely has enough
money to make repairs to their own house. The red balloon describes the ideal and vision of freedom,
with several strict limitations and drawbacks that encompass the weight of the anchor.
Along with the metaphor of balloons, Cisneros employs a second non human object as a
representative of Esperanza s evolution of thinking. The metaphor of trees represents Esperanza s
progression of change and hope for the the future, no matter the circumstance. Appearing in both the
beginning and end of the novella, trees are the building blocks of who Esperanza

What Is Beah Justified In A Long Way Gone
Ishmael Beah fought a war that was very tense against the rebels which made everyone depressed.
Ishmael the author of the book A Long Way Gone was fighting a war against the devilish rebels who
change everything in his life. Beah does justify his actions because he wants to get back at the rebels
for killing his family. They are justified since his family and friends were killed by the rebels, he
basically was forced into becoming a child soldier to fight the rebels from destroying and killing and
he witnessed his own village being destroyed. The rebels killed his family and friends so he tries to
gain revenge since they did destroy other aspects in his life too. Once Ishmael finally got to the village
his family was staying, the rebels attack ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The following citation shows that Beah has to watch the rebels not only destroy the village but destroy
lives, and families which gives another reason for Beah for his actions he commits. According to the
teachers, the rebels had attacked the mining areas in the afternoon. The sudden outburst of gunfire had
caused people to run for their lives in different directions. Fathers had come running from their
workplaces, only to stand in front of their empty houses with no indication of where their families had
gone. Mothers wept as they ran toward schools, rivers, and water taps to look for their children.
Children ran home to look for parents who were wandering the streets in search of them. And as the
gunfire intensified, people gave up looking for their loved ones and ran out of town (Beah 9). This
gives the readers a image of what happened when the rebels entered his village and attack them. As
the families were going in different ways and people were killed and houses were set on fire this gives
another reason for Beah s actions since he had to watch something that he loved so much and he grew
up knowing as home fall apart so

Malcom X Comparison
The Autobiography of Malcom X by Malcom X is a book that shares many common themes as I
Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. Both books deal with the racial inequality of African American in
the United States. Both books are autobiographies that show the graphic lives of two African
Americans. However, The Autobiography of Malcom X focuses more on a controversial historical
figure than on the childhood of a young African American girl. This controversial figure is often
depicted negatively in media and is overlooked or forgotten about in history classes that focus on
Martin Luther King Jr. Interestingly, Malcom X is often portrayed darker in media than he was in
reality. MLK, on the other hand, is often shown with a lighter skin tone. This difference speaks
volumes to the perception of the two activists. Reading his autobiography educates people on the
reality of Malcom X s beliefs and life story. Like Angelou s autobiography Malcom X has a distinct
perception of White people as the ideal, at least at the start of the novel. I Endured all of that pain...to
have it look like a white man s hair (X, 1965). Both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though Malcom X tries to change his appearance to become more White he is not afraid to call them
out on their crimes. Four hundred years the white man has had his foot long knife if the black man s
back and now the white man starts to wiggle the knife out...the black man is supposed to be grateful?
(X, 1965). Many people feel that once slavery was abolished the issue was solved...it was not. Then,
many people felt that once African Americans could vote the issue was resolved...it was not. Now,
many people feel that since they have deceptively equal rights the issue is resolved...it is not. Malcom
X is not afraid to point that out. Obviously, he cannot speak to the world today but, one can imagine
his reaction to recent

Positive Impacts Of Student Engagement And High Impact...
Student Engagement and High Impact Practices Student Engagement and High Impact practices are
utilized on a majority of campus across the globe. These practices implement success incentives to
encourage growth among students and their academic and career development. Student engagement
requires individual effort and involvement which, are critical elements that impact the college
experience (Pascarella Terenzini, 2005). Implementing high impact practices promotes the different
engagement strategies that increase the overall success of the student. George Kuh has presented ten
high impact practices that have been proven to be beneficial to students and their cumulative learning.
These ten practices include First year seminars and experiences, common intellectual experiences,
learning communities, writing intensive courses, collaborative assignments and projects,
undergraduate research, diversity/global learning, service learning, community based learning,
internships, and capstone courses and projects (Kuh, 2008). These practice along with engaging
strategies are essential to learning outcomes for students. The practices can be applied to students lives
and promote intellectual growth and engagement. Implementing engaging activities throughout a
student s college career helps prepare students to collaborate research with field experience, make
meaningful connections, and increase the likelihood of learning, success, and retention. Over the last
five years, I have worked

Assignment Questions On Workplace Negotiations
Assignment Choice #2: Workplace Negotiations In any negotiation, there must be two or more parties,
a conflict must exist, and the parties must negotiate by choice (Lewicki, Barry, Saunders, 2011). A
common form of negotiation is salary and schedule, which can be achieved in a distributive bargaining
situation. A distributive bargaining situation exists when two parties each have different points of
interest, including an asking price, target point and resistance point, and they work together through
concessions exchange to reach a negotiated agreement and commit to it (Lewicki et. al, 2011). In this
exercise, I am negotiating with my manager for a raise and flexible working arrangements of four 12
hour days per week; a change from my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Examples Of Alexis De Tocqueville
In the 19th century, political philospher Alexis de Tocqueville claimed, the in habitants of the United
States have... properly speaking, no literature. This will be demonstrated as false by looking into the
unique literature produced by America. Two examples we will be looking at are from Sarah Orne
Jewett and Edgar Allen Poe. The pair will prove that Alexis de Tocqueville s statement is not accurate,
and that America has very distinct literature. Sarah Orne Jewett was an American novelist who
specialized in regionalism. A White Heron , a short story from this semester makes this evident. The
story has Sylvia, a little girl, on the rural coat of New England. Throughout the story Jewett uses
specific details to create a superb, realistic

Break Dancing Essay Topics
Break Dancing Most people have heard of break dancing and have been amazed and mystified by the
extraordinary movement, but what is it really and where did originate from? Many people have
influenced the history of break dancing and will continue to. From being a recreational sport it has
become competitive and addictive to hundreds of people all around the world as some of the greats of
the business like Kujo to the new learners experiment and progress further the sport will never die out.
Break dancing was created in the 1980s where it was powered by the media for a couple of years until
it crashed out of the lime light. But it continued and became one of the four major parts of the hip hop

This led to people rehearsing their moves and creating and better ones that were more complex by
increasing speed, form and the complicity of moves. As money could not be made from break dancing
music was promoted which in turn led to break dancing hitting clubs and parties as the music took off
songs like Get on the Good Foot by James Brown lead to huge developments economically. Break
dancing once again came back into the light. By the 1980s a man named Afrika Bambaataa appeared
out of no where on to the scene a master DJ releasing Looking for the Perfect Beat which was enjoyed
by all music critics reaching number 4 in the American charts and he evidentially became a record
producer. Afrika Bambaataa then started a new crew know as The Zulu Kings. They made hundreds of
appearances all over New York and getting thousands of supporters. The old style of break dancing
was much simpler then you see today, the moves were more around fast moving leg work which was
composed of floor work or floor rock this is now known as old style breaking. The movements were
speeded up so that they looked far more complex then they actually are and it wasn t long till most
people had there own style battling each other. As the gangs only started practicing break dancing they
renamed their group into crews which is the more update word that is used today.

  • 2. How Cram Changed My Life Essay What happened next changed his life. The first thing Cram noticed, true to himself, was the architecture. Overall, he was unimpressed with the style, which he never came to appreciate. For about thirty minutes, Cram battled boredom, until the service started. He described the experience in his own words: Then, in their white and gold vestments, the sacred ministers came silently to the high altar, attended by crucifers, thurifers and acolytes, and stood silently waiting. Suddenly came the bells striking the hour of midnight, and with the last clang the great organs and the choir burst into a melodious thunder of sound; the incense rose in clouds, filling the church with a veil of pale smoke; and the Mass proceeded to its climax with the offering of the Holy Sacrifice of the Body and Blood of Christ. I did not understand all of this with my mind, but I understood. After a life growing up in the home of a pastor, studying art, and designing architecture, Cram s accidental preparation enabled him to understand the experience in a way no one else ... In structuring the building, Cram and his associates intentionally shifted theology to the forefront by moving the organ. One architecture magazine pointed out that in Protestant churches at that time, the organ often overshadowed both the pulpit and the communion table, but in Sage Memorial, the organ and choir had been relegated to the sides, highlighting the pulpit and table. At the dedication, a memorial address proclaimed that the very erection of such a building as this for His glory is a witness to a believer s sense of his unrivaled greatness and majesty. The architect theologian designed the church to convey theology and manifest an experience of God s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Populism Debate It came as no surprise that Trump won the south easily. In the deep south, one would assume that Trumps demagogic styled populism would give Trump more support than Romney received four years prior; and in Mississippi and Alabama this may be true, Trump saw only a small increase or decrease in vote share in Louisiana, South Carolina, and Georgia. In the South, Mississippi and Alabama had the highest increase in vote share for Trump. Interestingly, Louisiana, a state very similar to both only saw less than half a percent increase. An explanation for this could be that, compared with AL and MS, Louisiana s population is more urban. Furthermore, the suburban Republicans seem to be less motivated by Trumps candidacy. You can even see this effect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Mississippi and Alabama however, Trumps populism strongly appealed to each states respective more rural population. Echoing a populist message tinged with winks and nods on racism, Trump seemed like an easier fit for the state of George Wallace, and Ross Barnett. South Carolina is unique from Louisiana, in the way that SC has more of a business Republican presence. And while race still effects politics in South Carolina, racial politics aren t as harsh as LA, MS, or AL. Although SC has the longest root to the Confederacy, the state managed to elect an Indian governor, and an African American Senator. This, if anything, shows a there s a stark contrast between SC, MS, and AL. In Georgia, the urban metropolis, Atlanta, is the anchor for Georgia politics; and the main reason why Georgia seems to be breaking away from the staunchly republican mold of the region. In the deep south states, Georgia had the highest decrease of Republican vote share. As Atlanta builds a strong African American middle class, and embraces it s growing progressive populace, Georgia continues to get bluer. He has trumped other golfers and sports observers for the past 19 years as he has climbed and prevailed in the golf world. Tiger s success has been accredited to many factors in his life, and has varied throughout the years having his ups and downs. The purpose of this paper is to give a valid argument as to why Tiger Woods could possibly be the greatest golfer of all time. Tiger s success is highly accredited to his father, who sculpted Tiger s skill set to the level it is at today. Woods was born in Cypress, California, to Earl and Multiday Woods. He is the only child of their marriage; however, he does have two half brothers, Earl Grand Kevin, and a half sister, Royce from the 18 year marriage of Earl Woods and his first wife, Barbara Woods Gray. • 7. The Democracy Of Colour By Philip Cowan Thesis (main point of the article/source): In The Democracy of colour, author Philip Cowan outlines a brief overview of the use of colour in film by noting the contribution of cinematography and the relatively blind eye given to the study of colour. Although all cinematographers have their own outlook towards colour schemes, a deeper meaning is redefined between the psychological and cultural use of colour. The use of colour psychologically requires an understanding that is more universally consistent. This creates an emotional response from the observers. Cultural use of colour varies from different regional areas. Typical use of colour creates symbolism that has no psychological or cultural meaning without setting a balanced, contextual association that connects it to viewers. Cowan challenged Russell s argument that the fundamental component in film production can be controlled by the cinematographer, with the use of art direction and set design, by stating that a cinematographer can not control the colour, but contribute different elucidations towards a film s images. Method: To help understand the method used to evaluate the different colour schemes used in films, Cowan interprets many different films and the director s reasons behind the colours chosen for their films. In Alexander Nevsky, the use of white hoods for the Teutonic Knights were used to represent ruthlessness, as opposed to the typical mentality of innocence. This contrast used by Kracauer further ... Unfortunately, the shoe did not fit Monroe on the date of August 5, 1962. Marilyn Monroe, or Norma Jeane Mortenson, was found naked and lifeless in her bed around five in the morning at her home in Los Angeles. The cause of her death is indoctrinated to be probable suicide. However, evidence and extensive research point all fingers to the Kennedy brothers in the murder of model and actress, Marilyn Monroe. Monroe had been locked in her bedroom of her Fifth Helena Drive Household. Not much evidence supported the cause of her death at the crime scene. Upon completion of the report, it is clear that an examination of the unresolved murder is imperative. No stone will be left unturned; no avenues left unexplored. To seek justice for Marilyn Monroe and her family, an in depth analysis must be organized in order to comprehend the data and identify a possible killer. Little Evidence was found at the crime scene to link a particular suspect. The room Monroe was murdered in seemed as if nothing ever happened. Besides a telephone in her hand, no item provided a reasoning for her death. One of the major controversies of her death was the emptiness of her stomach. During the Autopsy of her body, suicide did not cross any of the doctor s minds. There was no pill residue in her stomach and with the number of capsules she would have to have ingested there should have been some evidence of it. What that means, Mcneil adds, is that there s a strong suspicion she might have been injected (McNeil 1). Monroe was known to take pills but to be diagnosed with probable suicide with no pill residue in her stomach is suspicious. Not only was there no pill residue, but there was no water glass as well. Officer Clemmons, the man who was first to the scene, stated that No water glass was initially found ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Until the very recent confirmations of both Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Alito, for the past twenty five plus years, Thomas had been the last conservative to be named to the current court, which is the complete opposite of his predecessor Justice Thurgood Marshall. Thomas confirmation hearings have gone down in history as those containing the most drama. His hearings would produce such intense arguments over race and gender. By self segregating blacks were turning away from the real world. (Thomas 117, Foskett 99 102) Thomas was involved in the political scene at a very early age. After just two short years in Washington, Thomas began working in President Reagan s administration. Thomas was a rarity in Washington. In the Washington Post Thomas was introduced to the public. The article read, He is one of the black people now on center stage in American politics: he is a republican, a long time supporter of Ronald Reagan, opposed to the minimum wage law, rent control, busing and affirmative action. (Foskett 152) For eight years Thomas served on the Equal Employment Opportunity Committee under Ronald Reagan. (Foskett 161 2) On June 30, 1991 President Bush nominated Thomas to the Supreme Court. His primary motivation for considering Motomax is that he wants to be near Beezor Wasikowska, the woman of his infatuation. Important aspects of the story are unclear, namely Kahle s ability to see auras, his military background and what his story had to do with Eli s. At times, I wondered if some details and characters were forgotten in the course of the writing. Because of this, the story had a stilted, perfunctory quality that made it difficult to read and confusing to navigate. It read like a first draft, not a finished product. The end of the story never resolved the problems or questions set by the premise. I understand that this is the first book of a series, but a clear, resolved ending is more satisfying to a reader than a blunt one. Since Revolt of the Rats needs professional editing and a tighter rein to keep the plot on track, I would not recommend it to readers, so I give it 2 out of 4. The editing and typesetting issues were the main reasons I could not give this book a higher rating, but the undeveloped nature of the story took it down another rating point. From the 30th of September 2013, there were a reported 6,403 people in closed detention, this number including 1,078 children. It is not surprising from these high detention rates and poor living standards that between January 2011 and February 2013 that there were 4,313 reported incidents of actual, threatened or attempted serious self harm in these immigration detention facilities. From 12 deaths that occurred between the 1st of July 2010 and the 20th of June 2013 6 of these have been found by coroners to be suicides (Triggs, 2013). These statistics are incredibly alarming, especially when not much action is being taken to prevent not only mental illness but also the consequences of prolonged mental illness suicide. The purpose of this report is to analyse and scrutinize the reason why mental health issues for asylum seekers are becoming an issue in Australia, and find out what exactly is being done to combat this ever growing issue in Australia. An asylum seeker is a person who has fled their own country and applied for protection as a refugee. As an asylum seeker their experience is extremely different to that of a Migrant. It turns out the subway was only two blocks away, but thanks to my uncle it took us close to a half hour to get there. If we didn t look like tourists, I don t know what does. I mean it was clear we didn t speak Spanish, but when you have adults holding up maps and screaming directions at each other it was pretty clear we were tourists, lost tourists. We thought getting to the subway was hard, but the real challenge was figuring out which line to take. Meanwhile, I had no idea where we were going. It was not like I could help much because I knew a very small amount of Spanish. Fifteen minutes of arguing later, we finally figured out that we have to take the red line and get off at the sixth stop. The train ride was quiet. The only sound was the hum of the train s engine. When we got to our stop we got off quickly and climbed up steps that placed us back into reality. We were once again united with the busy streets of Barcelona. ... Mom, where are we going? The most common factor for the two United Kingdom, sixties era bands is that they both succeeded. With so many coincidences, the bands also have their contrasting factors. The Beatles on one hand were largely public, acquiring names such as the Quarry Men, instead Pink Floyd was underground and frolicked with names like T Set or Abdabs. Large differences between the two bands are their rises in popularity. For Pink Floyd s underground scene, they were not at the peak of their popularity in America until the early seventies; The Beatles were into the Pop Culture which gave them leeway to high popularity. The war and Counterculture provided the Beatles a great opportunity to experiment with their music, while Pink Floyd changed largely because Barrett wanted to try mystique music which suited the culture a smidge better than the blues. Their hypothesis was that x ray irradiation could alter the microcirculation of the injured site, impede the deterioration of the spinal cord, and advance the recovery of structure and function after spinal cord injury in rats. Their methodology involved investigating the x ray irradiation treatment in an experimental spinal cord injury model. Then they could analyze the effect of x ray irradiation on the restoration of neuromotor functions. For their experimental design, 46 female Sprague Dawley rats were exposed to spinal cord injury using the altered Allen weight drop mechanism. These rats were then separated ... The experiments also indicated that the anatomical rehabilitation of the spinal cord injured region is probably contrived from the x ray treatment. The results demonstrated that the irradiation treatment possibly advances the restoration of the spinal cord central nervous system. In the sham operated group, the NF count greatly increased at 14 weeks compared to 6 weeks. This revealed that the spinal cord central nervous system has a self repair mechanism after spinal cord injury. There was no considerable disparity in the 10 Gy and the 20 Gy group from this experiment. In our results myelin showed first a decrease, and then an increase following spinal cord injury in rats. This outcome indicated that the spinal cord injury and repair coexisted, by being injured first and then repairing it. In addition, the myelin count significantly decreased in the irradiation group at week 14 after spinal cord injury, which showed that ionizing radiation also has lasting impacts on the spinal cord central nervous system. All in all, this experiment successfully verified that local x irradiation could help the regeneration of the spinal cord in a rat ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Trans cinnamic acid had a melting point range of 133.0 135.8℃. Urea had a melting point range of 132.5 135.8℃. However, when a 50/50 mixture was created of the two substances, the melting point range was 98.8 132℃, 40 degrees less than the two known substances. This is due to an impurity of the 50/50 mixture. Each substance was acting as an impurity to the other substance. The expected range for Trans cinnamic acid was 132 135℃ and Urea had an expected range of 132 133℃. A ramp rate was first used to obtain the approximate melting point of the unknown before obtaining a more accurate melting point range of the unknown substance. Based on the rapid heating rate of the test, it was determined that the unknown substance was either Trans cinnamic acid or Benzoin due to the wider melting point range at 132℃. After the second, slower heating rate, it was determined that the unknown might be Benzoin due to the wider melting point range. However, when experimented with the unknown and the Benzoin, the 50/50 mixture melted before the other 2 compounds had begun to change states because it was acting as an impurity instead of melting at the same time. If the unknown and the possibly known substance were the same compound, those two compounds plus the mixture would have melted at the same time. The Trans cinnamic acid was then compared to the unknown substance, which resulted in two compounds and the mixture melting at the same time, which had a melting point range of 133 to 136.2℃. According to the results of the melting point ranges given, the melting point range of Trans cinnamic acid should be 132 135℃. • 35. Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus And Mellitus Introduction: Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus is a disease that occurs when insulin producing beta cells of the pancreas are damaged or are being destroyed (Mahan, Escott Stump Raymond, 2012). The gradual destruction of the beta cells of the pancreas usually leads to complete insulin deficiency, which ultimately manifests itself in the following symptoms at clinical onset: high blood glucose (hyperglycemia), frequent urination (polyuria), excessive thirst (polydipsia), and a significant amount of weight loss, dehydration, electrolyte disturbances and ketoacidosis , requiring dependency of exogenous insulin in order to promote optimal glycemic control in order to prevent further more severe complications; such as, ketoacidosis, microvascular diseases, macrovascular diseases, neuropathy, or worse Death (Mahan et al., 2012). Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus can result from two existing forms: 1. Immune mediated diabetes Mellitus, which is characterized by autoimmune destruction of the beta cells of the pancreas and an idiopathic (unknown cause) commonly seen in ethnic groups of African or Asian descent (Mahan et al., 2012). (10 points) Sociobiology is the scientific study of the biological (especially ecological and evolutionary) aspects of social behavior in animals and humans. The implications of sociobiology for theology are developed with respect to the general impact of basic evolutionary ideas, the reductionist assumptions of sociobiologists, whether or not survival can be a value, and more holistic accounts of the physical and biological grounding of the mental and spiritual lives of human beings. An often heard criticism of sociobiology accuses it of justifying existing injustices. For example, opponents say sociobiology supports the belief that people of darker skin color are intellectually inferior to those with lighter skin. Additionally, opponents suggest that following what sociobiology says is human nature only continues the injustices. In reality, sociobiology really does not support this interpretation. • 40. Mango Street Metaphors Throughout the novella, The House On Mango Street, author Sandra Cisneros conveys Esperanza s ideas and thoughts through her everyday surroundings. The metaphors in this bildungsroman exploit Esperanza s maturity growth from start to finish. Without these metaphors, it would be a significant challenge for the reader to comprehend and connect with Esperanza. Cisneros demonstrates the themes of the evolution of thinking and personality through the metaphor of balloons, trees, and bums. First of all, Cisneros showcases the metaphor of balloons as Esperanza s personal views about being stuck in Mango Street. Cisneros makes an apparent connection to having some sense of shame with being an occupant of Mango Street. Esperanza carries this burden of shame around with her, similar to a red balloon, a balloon tied to an anchor (Cisneros 9). This develops an image in the reader s mind, allowing them to see the balloon, free to move around, but with no range or hope of becoming unattached to the anchor. Cisneros conveys that Esperanza is fed up with her temporary (5) life that should only last for the time being (5). The reader learns that it is near impossible to simply leave the neighborhood, and leave the shame behind with the neighborhood itself. Cisneros also chooses the color red for Esperanza s balloon. This is significant because since red is a standout color, the shame of Mango Street stands out to those who have not experienced anything similar to this type of neighborhood. Such a burden singles out Esperanza in the crowd, making her unfavorably unique. This includes being seen as the other half of society, that is unsuccessful and that barely has enough money to make repairs to their own house. The red balloon describes the ideal and vision of freedom, with several strict limitations and drawbacks that encompass the weight of the anchor. Along with the metaphor of balloons, Cisneros employs a second non human object as a representative of Esperanza s evolution of thinking. The metaphor of trees represents Esperanza s progression of change and hope for the the future, no matter the circumstance. Appearing in both the beginning and end of the novella, trees are the building blocks of who Esperanza ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The following citation shows that Beah has to watch the rebels not only destroy the village but destroy lives, and families which gives another reason for Beah for his actions he commits. Fathers had come running from their workplaces, only to stand in front of their empty houses with no indication of where their families had gone. Mothers wept as they ran toward schools, rivers, and water taps to look for their children. Children ran home to look for parents who were wandering the streets in search of them. And as the gunfire intensified, people gave up looking for their loved ones and ran out of town (Beah 9). This gives the readers a image of what happened when the rebels entered his village and attack them. • 42. Malcom X Comparison The Autobiography of Malcom X by Malcom X is a book that shares many common themes as I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. Both books deal with the racial inequality of African American in the United States. Both books are autobiographies that show the graphic lives of two African Americans. However, The Autobiography of Malcom X focuses more on a controversial historical figure than on the childhood of a young African American girl. This controversial figure is often depicted negatively in media and is overlooked or forgotten about in history classes that focus on Martin Luther King Jr. Interestingly, Malcom X is often portrayed darker in media than he was in reality. MLK, on the other hand, is often shown with a lighter skin tone. This difference speaks volumes to the perception of the two activists. Reading his autobiography educates people on the reality of Malcom X s beliefs and life story. Like Angelou s autobiography Malcom X has a distinct perception of White people as the ideal, at least at the start of the novel. This will be demonstrated as false by looking into the unique literature produced by America. Two examples we will be looking at are from Sarah Orne Jewett and Edgar Allen Poe. The pair will prove that Alexis de Tocqueville s statement is not accurate, and that America has very distinct literature. Sarah Orne Jewett was an American novelist who specialized in regionalism. A White Heron , a short story from this semester makes this evident. The story has Sylvia, a little girl, on the rural coat of New England.
