Circuit Court Observation
In Maryland, there are 4 levels of court including district, circuit, court of special appeals, and court of
appeals. The lowest court is District court, most people experiencing court will be at this one. This
court deals with less serious crimes including traffic and boating violations, misdemeanors, domestic
violence, landlord disputes, and small claims. Circuit Court, which is the next lowest court, generally
handles more serious criminal cases, major civil cases, certain administrative agencies, and domestic
violence cases. The Court of special appeals, the intermediate appellate court, sees any reviewable
judgment, or other action of the circuit court. The court of appeals, the highest court, hears cases
involving the death penalty, legislative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this observation, I observed circuit court.
In court, I observed an arraignment. An arraignment is an appearance in court to hear the charges and
to make a plea. Before they appeared at their arraignment they were supposed to go through the steps
of the criminal justice system. First, there was an investigation, an arrest, and booking. If the suspect
was a juvenile, they would go into the juvenile justice system. Next is the prosecution; charging,
initial appearance, preliminary hearing, and indictment or information. During charging, the
prosecution attorneys are the link between police and the court; they must decide if there is reasonable
cause to believe an offense was committed, they either are released or have an initial appearance. At
the initial appearance, they are brought before a judge, given a formal notice of charges, advised of
their rights, and given a chance to post bail. If not enough evidence has been produced, the judge will
dismiss the case and if there is enough evidence, they will move on to a preliminary hearing. The
preliminary hearing allows a judge to decide whether there is probable cause

My Family Road Trip
Family Road Trip It was a hot summer day. You could see the heat rise up from the road. The sun
scorched the the sidewalk so intensely I could have fried an egg on it. We had just gotten done loading
our luggage in the van. I grabbed my phone and headed for the door. We were ready to go to the
airport. We had been planning on our trip to California for days. Everyone would not shut up about
seeing our relatives. I just couldn t wait to leave this dreadful, miserable, boring place called Sedalia.
We went to get some gas because it was like a 3 hour drive. When we stopped my mom was the only
one who got out because she didn t want to deal with annoying brats, my sisters. So I was stuck with
them, alone, by myself, in a car. It sounded like there was a zoo behind me and the monkeys just got
loose. Other people were looking at our car and in their face there was horror. My mom finally gets
back and we start to drive. Sense we re going out of state on an airplane, we couldn t take our car with
us. So we went to go pick up my mom s husband from work. He wasn t going to california with us so
he could take the car. We pick him up, he chucks his lunch box to the middle, and he takes the wheel.
We start driving, again. I ve never really liked my mom s husband, he s always hated me and one of
my sisters because we aren t his. I really don t like anyone I live with. My mom loses things like our
birth certificate, her driver s license, even her bills. I m so over it. My sisters, my sisters are little
spoiled crybabies. When i was there age, I was hit so many times that the buckle of a belt feels like a
pinch. I cried when I got kicked on the side. They cry if someone raises their voice at them the
slightest bit. I m the smartest person in the house, so I m constantly angry because everyone comes to
me when they need help. I help with things like homework, I translate for my mom and her husband, I
never had help. I ve always been on my own, if I need help with something like homework, well that s
too bad because if I don t know something they definitely won t. This road trip is hell, my sisters don t
shut up, my mom is reading the bible out loud, my mom s husband has mexican music on blast, and I
m just quietly suffering.

Factors Affecting Failing Grades
What are factors affecting academic performance?
Answer:
Many, many factors can affect academic performance, which means how a person does on
schoolwork. The physical condition of the student has a great deal to do with that person s ability to
do a good a good job on anything and to understand anything. For example, if the student has poor
eyesight, he or she might not be able to read well. If the student has a hearing impairment, he or she
might not be able to listen to and understand instructions. If the student has a disease, it might impair
his or her ability to do the required work. A student s socio economic status (SES) can affect his or her
ability to perform well academically. Students with less money might not be able to ... Show more

A student needs time to be in class, and appropriate time for study. However, there must be time for
family, friends, social activities, and time to just be alone. The key is keeping proper balance. * Lack
of taking advantage of student resources. There is really no reason for academic failure. Every college
and university has an academic learning center where students can receive peer and faculty tutoring,
without charge. Many students fail to seek help. * Attending the wrong college or university. Some
students accept admission into schools they are not familiar with. Thus, they become depressed with
their surroundings. Student must be content with their school, its environment, and resources. This, in
turn has a negative affect on their studies. * Lack of maturity and discipline. Some students are just
not disciplined and lack good organizational skills. They often fall under the pressure of their peers.
Rather than using good discretion, they feel compelled to follow others (socially), when they really
should be attending to their studies. Again, lack of appropriate

Ruby Bridges Short Speech
Ruby Bridges is famous for doing something most of us take for granted today: going to elementary
school. But that simple act by one small girl played an important part in the Civil Rights Movement
Ruby s mom got six year old Ruby into the all white William Frantz School because Ruby passed a
very hard test. When Ruby started first grade, U.S. marshals took her to and from school and protected
her from the angry white people. On the first day of school in 1960, Ruby and her mom sat in the
office. Some adults took their children to school but most others did not. Ruby saw some people
dragging their white kids out of the classrooms because they didn t want their kids going to the same
school as a black kid. Ruby and her mom stayed in the office for the whole day of school. Many of the
white parents and their kids were outside the school protesting. They were yelling and holding signs.
The teachers still tried to teach the few students at school that day.
The second day Ruby, her mom, and her teacher sat in the classroom. No white parents would allow
their children to be in the same classroom with Ruby. Her teacher, Mrs. Henry, started to teach and
was very loving toward Ruby. She supported and helped Ruby through the difficult time. On the third
day of school, her mom didn t go with her. For the rest of the year, she was the only one in her class
and she was taught on a whole different floor from all the other kids. The principal and many teachers
also didn t think Ruby

Summary Of The Garden Of Earthly Delights
For centuries, humans have analyzed the negative aspects of their own nature that leads them to falling
victim to overindulgence, producing myriads of written pieces and artwork to depict the creator s
portrayal and interpretation. Various forms of abundance, control, and power are vices that humans are
drawn to, utilizing them with greed and selfish intent in their hearts. Hieronymus Bosch, a
Renaissance era painter from the Netherlands and most popular for his invention of Early
Netherlandish style paint, depicts his take on human s overindulgence of the vices through a world
famous piece titled The Garden of Earthly Delights . Created as a triptych, a three part painting
divided into three separate panels, The Garden tells the story of humanity s empire, from the pure
creation of man, to the corrupted result of man s overindulgence in the vices. Bosch s heavily
references a biblical story, particularly of Adam and Eve, in this piece, a trait common in Early
Netherlandish paintings. This painting style makes reference to biblical works as well as heavily
emphasizes the use of shadows and light, allowing for the natural aspects of the landscape, animals,
and humans within it to appear more life like. With the painting s richness in color, detail in linework,
and overall composition of the characters within it, Bosch s The Garden of Earthly Delights evokes a
deeper meaning to the formation and destruction of mankind s empire through mankind s tendency
towards corruption

Skate Skis
The skate ski has a single camber. Compared to the classic ski the skate ski does not have a grip zone
beneath the middle of the ski, but has a stiff camber. The entire base of the skate ski is a glide zone for
the ski to move smoothly and continuously in snow. Because of the stiffness of the camber the skate
ski has less flexibility than the classic ski. To determine the ski fit for skate skis it requires a different
test than classic skis. If the skate skis does not have enough camber, then the skis are too soft. When
the skier applies his weight to the skis, the entire bottom of the ski flattens. This causes a lot of
pressure that is being applied in the center of the skis. With all this pressure under the foot of the skier
the ski becomes unpredictable and erratic. However, if the skis have too much camber, the ski are too

The For A Good Risk Management Plan
Alcohol and rock concerts often intersected over the course of time; plenty of concerts and festivals
have either used alcohol as a sponsor or ancillary revenue. Alcohol and other types of concessions sold
at festivals are considered ancillary revenue because it is derived from goods or services other than the
primary service or good being offered (What is ancillary revenue, 2015, para.1). Therefore, serving
alcohol at festivals is another way for the promotors, event managers, and the venue to obtain
additional source of revenue. As the event manager for the Freedom festival, a rock roll festival being
held at the PNC Music Pavilion in Charlotte, NC; it is the intention of the festival to provide the
patrons with a safe and fun environment to enjoy their favorite music.
The basis for a good risk management plan is providing a risk assessment for the event before
determining how to address the possible risks. A risk assessment is a process to identify potential
hazards and analyze what could happen if a hazard occurs (Risk Assessment, 2015, para.1). Therefore,
the risk assessment will be used to identify the possible problems that can arise from alcohol. The
Freedom Festival event planning committee is aware of, and concerned about the risks and issues that
are associated with the availability of alcohol throughout the course of the event, so they plan is to
create a risk management plan to address these risks. Violence, alcohol poisoning, drunk driving,

simulated (simulacra). How these terms and themes offer fuel and conjecture to certain conspiracy
theories: concepts that bring focus, differing interpretations, and relevance into my art practice. It can

For example, one of the amazing characteristics of holograms is that every part of a hologram is a
smaller version of the whole. Or put another way, if you cut a holographic waveform printed image
into four pieces and point the laser at each one you will not see four quarter segments of the
holographic image. You will see four quarter sized versions of the whole hologram. Every part of a
hologram is a smaller version of the whole.
So maybe our body is just a hologram therefore every part of the body is a smaller version of the
whole. This explains why reflexology, acupuncture and other forms of alternative healing can find
areas in different parts of the body, hand, ear, foot, or suchlike, that affect different organs and the
processes of the whole body.
We are living in a giant hologram, and everything we see around us is merely a projection of a two
dimensional surface. This theory put forward in 1997 by physicist Juan Maldacena (Maldecena, 2011),
who proved its existence in equations that only partially explained our

Joseph Conrad Influence On Things Fall Apart
Books about Africa: How an Author Influences a Reader Without experiencing something firsthand,
the only way to gain understanding of a foreign concept is through the words of other people. Thus,
without visiting Africa, personal knowledge of it is limited and a reader must make decisions on what
to believe. Two books about African culture are Chinua Achebe s historical fiction novel Things Fall
Apart, and Joseph Conrad s novella Heart of Darkness. After analyzing both of these texts, a reader
can see how one s perspective on a subject can be influenced based on how an author chooses to write
about it. By using either realism or exaggeration, Achebe and Conrad (respectively) create two
different Africas: one that brings African life closer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As such, they describe their stories in differing ways. A quote that illustrates this clash in perspective
is found in Things Fall Apart when a visiting missionary thinks about the book he is writing about his
experience with the tribe He had already chosen the title of the book, after much thought: The
Pacification of the Primitive Tribes of the Lower Niger (Achebe, 171). Achebe wrote this line to show
the reader how an outsider can be ignorant to things they don t understand. Reading this line is jarring
because of it s dark irony; throughout the whole book, the reader has gone on a journey with Okonkwo
and has learned to relate and understand the Igbo. Then at the end of the book, He is using the
character of the Commissioner to represent as a whole the post colonial Europeans who misjudge
Africans. In fact, Achebe is making a meta reference to the genre of books about African culture
which, at the time, were written by European outsiders. Achebe is angered by these authors namely
Conrad himself for their stereotyped portrayal of African culture. He is actively writing against the
perpetuation of misinformation because he knows that how an author chooses to describe something
determines how an outsider will view that

The Case Of Alexander Vs. Holmes County Board Of Education
The topic I ll be discussing will be the biasedness in media about a particular topic, the US Supreme
Court s decision on the case of Alexander vs. Holmes County Board of Education. The case involved a
previous Supreme Court ruling of Brown vs. Board of Education, where they gave schools to
desegregate public schools with all deliberate speed. 15 years passed and school districts were still
segregated, so the courts gave them till the beginning of the next year, 1970. This gave some schools a
very abrupt shock as they had to conform to the decision. As something that opinionated, it allows
news media to explore and write about such a topic. The following day after the case was presented to
the Supreme Justices, the Dallas Morning News paper gave a few remarks about how the federal
government stood alongside the state of Mississippi in the Supreme Court and pleaded for delay in
further desegregation... 1 The use of the federal government in this situation is to have the reader
sympathize with Mississippi and is even followed by pleaded to further the sympathy. The
government shared the frustrations of black school children... 1 is written to try to balance out the
biased opinion but when children is used instead of students, it creates a belittling picture of their
opposition. The administration s chief civil rights lawyer, Jerris Leonard, was quoted saying that both
the North and South had made substantial breakthroughs in desegregation of schools... but that

the government, court systems, activists, and public media is starting to take notice. Being able to pick

The Causes And Dangers Of Cyber Bullying And Cyber...
The younger generation is always on their phones and it has decreased their skill of communication
which is a must need for the business world. In fact the Pew Research Center had found that 88% of
people ages 18 29 use Facebook in 2016. That is a lot of people which can lead to some problems as
mentioned before.
One growing issue is cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is when someone threatens, makes fun of, or posts
offencive pictures/words with the intention to hurt others over electronic communication. About half
of young people have experienced some form of cyberbullying, and 10 to 20 percent experience it
regularly said Bullying Statistics, Cyber bullying victims are more likely to have low self esteem and
to consider suicide . Also more than 50% of cyberbully victims don t say anything to their parents or
any other adults witch makes the situation even worse. This is a serious issue that goes along with
social networking. The next issue is bots. Bots are a computer program that are created to do a task
automatically. What that task may be depends on the type of bot, and unfortunately for us there are
more bad bots than there are good. An prime example of a bad bot is the bot designed to infect your

St. Thomas Aquinas Cosmological Argument
Catholic Church:
St. Thomas Aquinas (Cosmological Argument)
In St. Thomas Aquinas s cosmological argument claims the following that the universe exist and its
very existence has a cause and that cause is God. In his unfinished book Summa Theologiae, Aquinas
put forward five ways for the existence of God.
His first way is the argument from motion and by studying the works of Aristotle, the Greek
Philosopher, he concluded from common observation that the planets, rolling stone or any object that
is in motion is put in motion by other forces or object. From this theory, Aquinas believes there must
have been an unmoved mover which is God who sets things in motion. It is certain and evident that in
the world some things are set in motion. Whatever is in motion is put in motion by another. Therefore,
by which it is put in motion must also be put in motion by another and by another again but this
cannot go for infinity because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The final way that St. Thomas Aquinas speaks of has to do with the universe and the order of nature.
Aquinas states that common sense tells us that the universe works in such a way, that one can
conclude that it was designed by an intelligent designer. In other words, all physical laws and the order
of nature and life were designed and ordered by God. Because whatever lacks in intelligence cannot
move towards an end, unless it be directed by some being with knowledge and intelligence. Some
intelligent being exists by whom all natural things are directed to their end, and this being we call
God. This argument by Aquinas is suggesting that inanimate objects such as the planets could not have
placed themselves into the orbits they have, because they lack the intelligence to do so. Yet they are
aligned so perfectly, this must mean it must have been done so by a being with the intelligence to do
so. Although we humans are intelligent, we cannot move planets, so that leaves us with

Organ System Of Organ Transplantation
Every Person in the United States, Not Just Legal Citizens, Should Automatically Be Considered
Organ Donors Unless Otherwise Specified
Rough Draft
UFID: 9169 9185
June 6, 2015
I. Background
According to the United States Department of Health and Human Services, organ transplantation is
the process of surgically transferring a donated organ into a patient with end stage organ failure (U.S
Dept of health and human services website). End stage organ failure can be attributed to a number of
diseases. Diseases such as cardiomyopathy, diabetes, hypertension, polycystic kidney disease, as well
as a number of others could potentially result in suffers of these diseases to require an organ
transplant.
Though sophisticated in nature, doctors for have actually performed organ transplants over a century,
starting first with animal organs and then moving to human organs. For instance, in 1906, Dr. Mathieu
Jaboulay, a French surgeon, treated two suffers of kidney failure by transplanting a goat kidney in one
patient and a pig kidney into the other. While these transplants proved to be unsuccessful, resulting in
the demise of both patients, Dr. Jaboulay s work did lay the foundation for Dr. Yu Yu Voronoy, an
Ukraninina surgeron that was the first to use a human kidney for transplantation. Again, these
surgeries were unsuccessful. However, according to Watson and Dark (2012) but they did demonstrate
the deleterioius effect of warm ischeaemia . Eventually,

Judicial Precedent Is Based On Stare Decisis
1A)
Judicial precedent is based on Stare decisis therefore in similar cases judges have to follow their own
decisions and decisions made by judges before are binding on similar cases in the future to which
previous ratio decidendi applies in order to reach a final decision. Ratio decidendi forms a binding
precedent which means that in future cases it has to be followed which contain the same principles.
Donoghue v Stevenson in 1932 set a legal precedent still in use today.

A breach of contract is when one party doesn t perform the contract in a way which is expected or
doesn t perform the contract at all. There are different ways in which a contract can be breached and
the first of these is a minor breach which once this happens the innocent party is entitled to
compensation but the contract is not terminated. The second manner a contract can be breached is a
fundamental breach where the contract can be terminated and damages can be claimed such as in the
case of Poussard vs Spiers (1876) where the breach was great enough to warrant a termination of
contract between two parties.

Hegel Alienation Research Paper
G.W.F. Hegel made enormous contribution to the development of the concept of alienation in
discursive terms. Hegel s The Phenomenolgy of Mind elucidates the concept of alienation and self
alienated spirit which however here have consequences far more significant and opposite to the
generalized concept of alienation . He bases his account of the development of human spirit and
human self development on the premise of the concept of alienation. To Hegel, the self is a historical
and social creation. It develops through a process of alienation and its overcoming, self estrangement
and self recognition, a fall into division and reconciliation (Sayers 2). By the term alienation in this
instance, Hegel refers to self alienation in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By his own admission, Fromm has chosen the concept of alienation as the central point to develop the
analysis of the contemporary social character (The Sane Society 107). It is because, he says, this
concept seems to touch upon the deepest level of the modern personality and it is the most appropriate
if one is concerned with the interaction between the contemporary socio economic structure and the
character structure of the average individual (108). Fromm equates the phenomenon of alienation with
the effects of capitalism on personality. By alienation he means a mode of experience in which the
person experiences himself/herself as an alien, ceases to experience himself/herself as the centre of his
world, as the creator of his/her own acts and takes to obeying or even worshipping his/her acts and
their consequences as his/her masters (117). He

The Power Of The Prime Minister Has Too Much Power
Introduction One of the most powerful and influential members of the Canadian government is the
Prime Minster of Canada. It has been stated that the Prime Minister of Canada has far more power
within the Canadian system of government than the President of America has in the American System
(Caron, 2017). This excess power the Prime Minister has when compared to the President of American
shows the difference ranges of power top leaders can have in their specific country. However, is the
amount of power the Prime Minister has in Canada too much? To determine if the Prime Minister has
too much power there are a few things that need to be considered. The first is the responsibilities of
the Prime Minister and the power these responsibly give the position. Looking at how much power the
Prime Minister has in relation to the amount of responsibilities placed on that government role will
give insights into the necessities of that power. Next, reviewing the history of powers the Prime
Minister has over the years will show a timeline of a gradual increase in power. Finally, to determine
if the Prime Minister has too much power recent events must be discussed in which the Prime Minister
has abused their powers. To fully understand how the amount of power the Prime Minister has can
impact the government, there will be a focus on one specific example of who calls elections
throughout. Overall, in examining the responsibilities and powers of the Prime Minister in relation to

The Characteristics Of Nationalism In The Faerie Queene...
The word epic ignites a multitude of reactions in the minds of literature lovers and passive readers
alike. Some people may think of the slang version of this term while other may fondly remember the
theater. However, when one is conscious of literary analysis and literature, they can always fall back
to the genre of an epic poem. In literary terms, an epic poem is considered to be a lengthy, narrative
poem that has a focus on the exploits of a hero and is full of immense amounts of style and figurative
language. Normally, by following this hero throughout the poem, the readers are introduced to the
alignment between the poem with a specific nation or national identity. Several characteristics of epic
poetry lend to this concept, especially those found in both The Faerie Queene and Paradise Lost. Both
epic poems focus on historical context and on the characteristics of a heroic journey, the scale of the
setting, and divine intervention in order to establish a trend of English nationalistic and religious
identity. The period before these two poems were written in was filled with religious dissent that first
began with Henry VIII s establishment of the Church of England. This action began a long chain of
religious opposition between this new Protestant movement and Catholicism. From entire Protestant
rules such as the rule of Henry s son, James I, to the slaughter and persecution of Protestants in the
rule of Mary I, England was searching for a religious identity that

Paradox Of Thrift And Its Effect On The Economy
To have an opinion on whether Paradox of Thrift has an effect on the economy you must understand
what is the meaning and effect on the economy. Paradox of Thrift is an economic theory, which posits
that personal savings are a net drag on the economy during a recession (Investopedia). Therefore,
instead of saving during a recession, the paradox states that savings should be spend instead of saved.
This goes along the theory with the government increase spending will have an overall effect on the
economy. Theories go along the line of lowering interest and the same time lower savings rate will
make saving less profit. It this is the case, then people will decrease the amount they put away and put
it instead back into the economy. My opinion

The Relationship Between Right Wing Authoritarianism And...
Assessing the relationship between right wing authoritarianism and climate change beliefs.
As time goes by, Earth is becoming more at risk of climate change effects (Commoner, 1990, as cited
in Schultz and Stone, 1994). Nearly all scientists agree that the change is caused by the acts of humans
(Intergovernmental, 2007 as cited in Hakkinen and Akarami 2014). Though, with this being said, it
seems that people are not that worried and it is not being discussed as much as it should be. (Maibach,
Feinberg Howe 2013, as cited in Hakkinen and Akarami 2014). Within this study I am going to be
investigating the relationship between right wing authoritarianism and climate change beliefs. In
previous studies such as Peterrson et all (1993), their data showed that with high levels of right wing
authoritarianism can lead to negative social issues, but within the study there was nothing significant
when it came to climate change beliefs. Following this was an investigation done by Shultz and Stone
(1994). This study showed that there was data to suggest that there was a negative relationship
between RWA and CC beliefs. In 2014, Hakkinen and Akrami s study also found a negative
relationship between the two but also found that when shown a news cast before answering can
change a person s answers about environmental issues. After looking over these readings, my
hypothesis is that there will be a negative relationship between right wing authoritarianism and
climate change beliefs. This

Contemporary Stressors of Adolescence
Contemporary stressors Adolescent stress is an important part of their lives and it is important for it to
be monitored regularly in order for them to feel the benefit of learning important stress management
skills. About 39% of the adolescents undergo depression at one point or another and they seem to
handle their problems in a way that is constructive. This stress and depression ranges from mild to
severe with the young people often relying on negative or passive behaviors in their attempts to deal
effectively with their problems. Stress is usually characterized by frustration, sadness, worry, tension
and withdrawal. There are many reasons that lead to stress in adolescents and younger people. Various
studies have been conducted to determine the causes of stress among adolescents. The A study that
was conducted in the state of Minnesota provided information about the prevalence of stress and
depression in adolescents. It was found that one of the stressful events in the adolescents lives is
school work. This is concurrent with the results of a study on stress and coping which was conducted
among adolescents in East Baltimore and it was found that school work is the most significant
stressor. The second most important stressor in the lives of adolescents is parents and the third is
romantic relationships. The fourth most important stressor is friends problems. The fifth most
important stressor is younger siblings. In the study of Minnesota adolescents, it was found

The Basics Behind Qualitative Research

Fundamentals of Qualitative Research When a researcher sets out to begin a study, he or she must
begin by asking questions of him or herself. These questions lead to the determination of the type of
research study the researcher is going to conduct. The study may be based on qualitative research,
quantitative research, or both. But, in order to determine the study method and design choice, the
researcher needs to see what is fueling his or her research question. Research questions based on
quantitative research focuses on obtaining data that can be measured, usually in some form or
numerical/statistical manner (Leedy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Leedy amp; Ormrod, 2010, there are three major sources of data for qualitative studies
interviews, observations, and documents (p. 23). If is up to the researcher to determine what process
of research is best for the study he or she is conducting. There are times when only one method is
used, but then there are times when more than one method is used. However, the researcher may
identify his or her primary method (Rubin, 2007). It is also possible to utilize the internet and
worldwide web to collect information for the study also. After the data is collected, the researcher
must be able to analyze the data. The truth is the data analysis is usually simultaneous with the data
collection stage (Rubin, 2007). From the time the first interview takes place or observation begins, the
researcher should already be analyzing what he or she has learned. By doing so, the researcher can
eliminate the possibility of being overwhelmed with information at the conclusion of the data
collection process. While analyzing, the information collected, the researcher can break up what he or
she learns into categories (Leedy amp; Ormrod, 2010). The use of these categories will help identify
any patterns of behavior or occurrence that may exist.

The Influence Of Distort Reality On World Maps
1. The author Laura Hebert argues that maps must distort reality on world maps in order to be accurate
about the world all over. Hebert states, projections sacrifice absolute accuracy in any particular
domain in order to be relatively accurate in all domains. Projections including Mercator, the Peters,
the Robinson, and the Goode s, all have their strong points however each projection doesn t work to
perfect one particular area of maps. For example, instead of working to perfect navigation, projections
may sacrifice the accuracy of navigation to achieve overall accuracy on maps. In other words, maps
must distort reality to show us the greater truth.

The American Diet: Fast food has altered American diet as the author states, three hamburgers and
four orders of french fries every week , is what a typical American consumes. Fast food is now
consumed at any place, including schools, zoos, stadiums, airports, you name it. In fact, eating fast
food has fit in so well to the routines of typical Americans that walking into the same restaurant
everyday, probably even more than once, no longer passes as a disturbing thought. The McDonald s
Corporation is the world s largest chain of fast food restaurants that serves around 68 million
customers daily. This means that more than half a billion people walk into McDonald s everyday to eat
their meal of the day. Whether people notice it or not, the American Diet has irrevocably changed. The
Paleolithic diet consisted of foods such as meat, nuts and berries. All foods of that time were
unprocessed and organic as ever. Today, however, the American diet adopts the exact opposite foods
than those of the Paleolithic diet. Every meal served at a fast food restaurant is processed and
unhealthy to the point of killing. And it isn t only the cooking process that makes these foods
unhealthy but also the canned manufacturing process that takes place before the food even reaches the
restaurant. There is no doubt that the American Diet is warped as it no longer assists us in maintaining
our health but rather assists in deteriorating it while simultaneously leaving us in deep shadows of

Ap Euro Calendar Dbq Essay
Explain the reasons for the adoption of a new calendar in revolutionary France and analyze reactions
to it in the period 1789 to 1806.
The adoption of the revolutionary calendar to replace the Gregorian calendar took place on November

The new calendar was a adopted in revolutionary France for many reasons including secular ideas and
political reasons. There were also many reactions to the change of calendar between 1789 and 1806

to move towards a more secular world.
A lot of people agreed with the adoption of the new calendar by revolutionary France for many
reasons. Gilbert Romme, head of the calendar reform committee, believed that the church calendar
was born among ignorant people. He said Time opens a new book for history, and it must use a new
pen to record the annals of a regenerated France. What Romme means by this is that since France is
going through new times, they need to change the calendar to fit it (Document 2). In Instruction
Concerning the Era of the Republic and the Division of the Year which was a decree of the National
Convention, it said that the new calendar will eliminate incoherence and inexactitude. This means that
with the new calendar people will be more exact and orderly because of more work days. It also states
that the new calendar will show the character of our revolution (Document 5). In the letter to the
National Convention from the village of St. Quirin, it says how the people spend their day of rest. In
the letter it says that they honor the memory of the generals who have become martyrs and they read

According to President Obama in the 2015 National Security Strategy, the scope of our cooperation
with China is unprecedented, even as we remain alert to China s military modernization. The evolving
security environment in the PACOM area of responsibility is initiating the shift of our focus and forces
to the Indo Asia Pacific region. Over the next 5 years, nearly half of all growth outside the United
States is expected to come from Asia, and as reported by Global Trends 2030, China will contribute
about one third of global growth by 2025, far more than any other country. This growth is vital to
United States economic and security interests, and China s activities in this region will likely shape
much of our nation s future; however, recent trends may prove establishing a peaceful long term
relationship challenging. Admiral Locklear stated before the House Appropriations Committee
Defense Subcommittee on PACOM Posture in March 2015 that recent statements by senior Chinese
leaders, such as President Xi Jinping, suggest that China may be attempting to advance a vision for an
alternative security architecture in Asia that affords Beijing increased influence in the region and
diminishes the role of the United States. This is exhibited in

The Scientific Revolution And Religion
The Scientific Revolution was not intended to be a war on religion and tradition even though it was
interpreted as such. The Scientific Revolution, which lasted roughly from 1543 to 1642, was arguably
the greatest development in the European intellectual history (Kreis, 2012). It was a revolution in the
way people perceived the world. During this era, scientific revolutionaries like Nicholas Copernicus,
the Polish astronomer (1473 1543); Descartes, the French philosopher (1596 1650) and Isaac Newton
the British mathematician (1642 1727) tried to better understand man and the physical world thereby
overturning the authorities of the Church and the scientists and philosophers who preceded them,
including Ptolemy, Galen and Aristotle. It was mainly the Copernican theory that caused many to
perceive the Scientific Revolution as a war on tradition. As far as understanding the universe was
concerned, the medieval world depended on the work of Claudius Ptolemy (c. 90 168), the ... Show

Background:
A chemical reaction is the rate at which a substance goes through a change and it is transformed into
another substance that has different compositions as well as properties.1 The rate at which a chemical
reaction occurs depends on many factors, some of which include the concentration of a reactant2,
temperature2, collision theory and electronegativity3.

1.25 mol/L of hydrochloric acid, 1.25 mol/L of sulphuric acid, and 1.25 mol/L of nitric acid are being
used because they are obtainable acids that range in electronegativity, which will help satisfy the
purpose of the lab. Magnesium metal is being used because it has an electronegativity that is different
from all acids and it reacts fairly well with all acids in a reasonable amount of time, therefore the
experiment can be better executed. The experiment will be done at room temperature of 21°C to
ensure that the temperature is not speeding up or slowing down the reaction, as well as saving time
and providing more accuracy.
Chemical reactivity and its rate of reactivity is important as is can be applied in life. For example in
medicine, different elements are mixed in a controlled environment to form medicines that are useful
for the treatment of diseases. Also in the production of weapons such as guns and bombs, it is required
for chemicals to react extremely vigorously to make the explosion go off and have the desired effect.6

Ethical Dilemmas In Medical Research
Doctors have always been thought of as the caretakers of mankind and that is why the type of
medicine performed by the doctors of Nazi Germany was so shocking, egregious and immoral that it
violated the trust placed in them by humanity. The Holocaust seems so far removed from our reality
today, and it may be hard for people to imagine the horrors inflicted by such doctors as Joseph
Mengele and others in the name of medical advancement . There is no doubt that these
experimentations are viewed as barbaric, unethical and thinly veiled under the guise of science. Many

One of the most gruesome and well known doctors of human experimentation during the Holocaust
was Josef Mengele. He was known as the Angel of Death (citation) or the White Angel for his cold

experiments on twins. Most experiments were performed on Jewish and Roma (Gypsy) children in the
context of finding out the genetic origins of disease and to also to see if he could unlock the secret of
multiple births in the hopes of increasing the German race. Of the 1000 set of twins that were
experimented on, only 200 sets survived. (7). If Mengele did not deem the patients worthy of being

these children such as injecting lethal chemicals into their eyes in the hopes of creating blue eyes, a
requirement for his pursuit of the perfect Aryan specimen (6). He also injected the patients with
mysterious concoctions or syringes filled with diseases such as typhus or tuberculosis to see the

his own set of Siamese twins. Moreover, Mengele performed surgeries without anesthesia for such

Currently, there are two major of database management systems which are used to deal with data, the
first one called Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) which is the traditional relational
databases, it deals with structured data and have been popular since decades from 1970, while the
second one called Not only Structure Query Language databases (NoSQL), they have been dealing
with semi structured and unstructured data; the NoSQL term was introduced for the first time in 1998
by Carlo Strozzi and Eric Evans reintroduced the term NoSQL in early 2009, and now the NoSQL
types are gaining their popularity with the development of the internet and the social media. NoSQL

How Did Yugoslavia Achieve Independence From The Soviet...
Yugoslavia was the only Eastern European country which manages to not fall under the Soviet
occupation. The main reasons of this fact are that Yugoslavia was not liberated by the Red Army, but
from the Yugoslav partisans. This army was led by communists. In 1945 the leader of the Communist
Resistance, Josip Broz Tito, took the control of the country. Tito was not a soviet trained Stalinist;
instead he was an independent national leader who did not accept to do as the Moscow wish. Tito was
one of the most significant causes why Yugoslavia achieved to maintain her independence from the
Soviet Union. Firstly, the relations between Moscow and Belgrade seemed good. Yugoslavia also

Albanian and Soviet relations remained warm during the last years of Stalin s life mainly because of
the Albanian non economic stability. Albania was depending on Soviet European countries, as all its
foreign trade was conducted in those countries. Likewise, the Soviet Union underwrote shortfalls in
Albania s balance of payments with long term grants.in the early s 50s the health care system and the
education in Albania get improved dramatically. Those were some advantages for the Albanian
society. Within the leaderfship of the Communist Party of Albania tensions arose between pro and anti

Xoxe main purpose was to overthrow Hoxha and to cooperate with Yugoslavia. In 1948 after the

relations between Albania and Soviet Union. Nikita Khrushchev believed that the high cost of aid to

History of the Cello Essay
Cello
The Cello, a very unique mid size instrument of the 16th century, was very interesting. Originally
called the violoncello, the cello received its name from violone meaning a larger and cello in Italian
means shoulder. The meaning suggests a big violin that can be played between ones legs and held in
place by a strap. The cello was also influenced by a number of people that made this instrument a
success. There is a little history about this instrument that I think you will enjoy.
The first known account of this instrument was in Agricola s, Wittenberg 1528, were it was part of a
bass consort. The first known maker of a cello was Andrea Amati and his descendants in Cremona and
Gasparo da Salo in Brescia during the 1500 s. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The dimensions of the cello are measured at around 75 6cm long and 44.5cm wide. The dimensions of
the cello can be accredited to Antonio Stradivari back in 1707 with his smaller model they called
forma B . The larger models of Stradivari times were the Servais cello of 1701 which is 79cm long
and 47cm wide. The makers of cellos quickly realized that there was a need for more than one kind of
cello. They needed the larger ones with thick strings for orchestra playing and also the smaller ones
with thin strings for solo pieces. The measurements of the neck and fingerboard of cello that has been
documented , is those of James Talbot in 1695 with the size of 10 inches long on the neck and 13
inches from the nut to the end of the fingerboard. The fingerboard would gain length as the range of
the hand positions increased by the players. The instrument is played with a bow. Although
Monteverdi was one of the first to use the violoncello in his piece Orfeo in 1607, many cellists used
the instrument. In the 17th century around Bologna, Petronio Franceschini, Domenico Garielli, and
Maria Jacchini were all well known solo performers. There are sonatas written by famous composers
such as Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Chopin, and Brahms. There has been a number of cello concertos
written were the solo is accompanied by an orchestra. To name a few of those memorably pieces are:

Moon Formation
There are multiple theories as to how the Moon was created and formed. The five stated are all created
and developed by different scientists. The first theory they developed is the Capture theory, which
states that the Moon has formed somewhere else and had been grabbed by Earth s gravitational pull.
Second theory developed is the Fission Theory. It supports the idea that the substance, which formed
the Moon, had been put out in the solar system by a fast spinning Earth. The Co Formation is the third
theory, suggesting that the Moon formed along the Earth 4.5 billion years ago, combing the gas and
dust in the same area. Further, into other theories, the Colliding Planetesimals theory supports the
clear idea that the Moon condensed from debris when planetesimals (Earth s building block) crashed
into each other. The final theory is the Giant Impact. This theory supports that the Moon s formation
formed when combining material that had blasted into space clashed with a new Earth; about 4.4
billion years ago. The theory I have belief in is the Giant Impact Theory. It supports the evidence of
how they are made of similar material. The crash from a planet size body would explain how the
Moon has a smaller iron core; because when the collision happened, only bits of the material to form

Nuclear Power Plants
In 1942, Enrico Fermi successfully sustained a nuclear fission reaction and created the world s first
functional reactor. What his experiments, and those of earlier scientists like Otto Hahn and Fritz
Strassman, showed was that by splitting the nucleus of heavy radioactive elements (like uranium and
cadmium), energy is released, and the reaction could be designed to generate a sustained energy
source (Schlager Weisblatt, 2006). Subsequent experiments illuminated the promise of nuclear energy
as a reliable alternative to coal, and scientists and economists praised it as the future of energy. While
nuclear power remains the most efficient form of energy (Nei.org, 2013), its early proponents failed to
take into account the potentially devastating effects of a power plant overloading and exposing
radioactive waste to nearby populations, and catastrophic events like the Chernobyl and Fukushima
disasters have substantially undermined the promise of Nuclear Energy. The question of whether
nuclear power will become the standard of energy production remains a hotly debated topic among
economists and environmentalists alike. The economic costs of nuclear energy are vast, ranging from
government oversights and barriers to entry, to variable human capital costs and fiercely competitive
substitutes. By analyzing the economics of the establishment of a nuclear power plant, we can get
closer to answering the question of whether nuclear power will become the true future of energy. In

public Schools in the United States. Declaring that separate educational facilities are inherently
unequal, the Brown V. Board decision help break the back of State Dash sponsored segregation, and
provided a spark to the American Civil Rights Movement. This Unanimous decision handed down by
the Supreme Court on May 17th, 1954, ended Federal tolerance of racial segregation in Plessy V.
Ferguson (1896) the court had ruled that separate by equal accommodations on railroad cars conform
to the fourteenth Amendment s guarantee of equal protection. That decision was used to justify
segregating all public facilities, including schools. In addition, most school districts Karma ignoring
plessy s equal requirement, neglecting their black schools. In the mid 1930s, however, the National
Association for the advancement of colored people (NAACP) challenge School required tangible

What Is The Central Idea Of Shooting An Elephant By George...
In Shooting an Elephant George Orwell struggles with his conscience by having second thoughts on
the actions he takes. Being a sub divisional police officer of the town (2 3) Orwell struggles with
feeling anti European , being all for the Burmese and all against their oppressors, the British. (15 16).
And of course the shooting of the Elephant that he is not in favor of. In a job that you see the dirty

Security Determinations
Factors that are the best sources for security determinations are considered by the offender s gender,
sex, age at their first conviction, disabilities and/or mental deficiencies are not caused by the offender
and these factors are not likely to change. These permanent factors are natural to the offender and are
stated as static risk factors. Static risk factors are the best basis for security determinations. Dynamic
risk factors are an individual s characteristics that can change and that are controlled or influenced by
the criminal, for example, their work, drug addictions, motivation, and their family relationships.

Essay On Public Broadcasting In Canada
Bringing Canadians Together
In 1991, Canada passed the broadcasting act in order to ensure that all media in Canada operates in
way that provides unbiased facts to all Canadians. Through this act the Canadian Government ensures
that all funds spent on financing public broadcasting in this fine nation goes to further developing our
culture, and creating a distinction between Canadian and American ways of life. Public broadcasting
see that each dollar spent on Canadian media solidifies a platform for Canadian identity to be built
upon, instead of allowing American broadcasters to flow uncompetitive in Canada. By paying for
media, the government also allows equal distribution of French language in the fourth estate. These
reasons are why it is crucial that the Canadian Government finances public broadcasting, because the
only way to meet Canadian standards is to create a Canadian industry who answers ... Show more

Or fox news do a report in Cree? Never. Because they are trying to make money, so they target the
biggest audience. Sure they translate movies to French, but they never make the movie in French, and
they never will. CBC will though. Because it was created to. Public Broadcasting is the only way to
ensure that all predominant languages in Canada get equity in media. Private corporations won t put
the money into these languages because they won t get the return of money firm the smaller
audiences. Money. Funny little thing has come up an awful lot. That s because, and I stress this point
poignant, every private corporation that thrives in today s age is about making money. It s not wrong,
it just is. Yet if the government pays for a public media source to make a movie in cree, or broadcast in
French, they can do it because they do not have to worry about losing money. This allows media to
show Canada s diversity. And without media in other languages, we would eventually become a

The lowest court is District court, most people experiencing court will be at this one. This court deals with less serious crimes including traffic and boating violations, misdemeanors, domestic violence, landlord disputes, and small claims. Circuit Court, which is the next lowest court, generally handles more serious criminal cases, major civil cases, certain administrative agencies, and domestic violence cases. In court, I observed an arraignment. An arraignment is an appearance in court to hear the charges and to make a plea. Before they appeared at their arraignment they were supposed to go through the steps of the criminal justice system. First, there was an investigation, an arrest, and booking. If the suspect was a juvenile, they would go into the juvenile justice system. Next is the prosecution; charging, initial appearance, preliminary hearing, and indictment or information. During charging, the prosecution attorneys are the link between police and the court; they must decide if there is reasonable cause to believe an offense was committed, they either are released or have an initial appearance. At the initial appearance, they are brought before a judge, given a formal notice of charges, advised of their rights, and given a chance to post bail. If not enough evidence has been produced, the judge will dismiss the case and if there is enough evidence, they will move on to a preliminary hearing. The preliminary hearing allows a judge to decide whether there is probable cause ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. My Family Road Trip Family Road Trip It was a hot summer day. You could see the heat rise up from the road. The sun scorched the the sidewalk so intensely I could have fried an egg on it. We had just gotten done loading our luggage in the van. I grabbed my phone and headed for the door. We were ready to go to the airport. We had been planning on our trip to California for days. Everyone would not shut up about seeing our relatives. I just couldn t wait to leave this dreadful, miserable, boring place called Sedalia. We went to get some gas because it was like a 3 hour drive. When we stopped my mom was the only one who got out because she didn t want to deal with annoying brats, my sisters. So I was stuck with them, alone, by myself, in a car. It sounded like there was a zoo behind me and the monkeys just got loose. Other people were looking at our car and in their face there was horror. My mom finally gets back and we start to drive. Sense we re going out of state on an airplane, we couldn t take our car with us. So we went to go pick up my mom s husband from work. He wasn t going to california with us so he could take the car. We pick him up, he chucks his lunch box to the middle, and he takes the wheel. We start driving, again. I ve never really liked my mom s husband, he s always hated me and one of my sisters because we aren t his. I really don t like anyone I live with. My mom loses things like our birth certificate, her driver s license, even her bills. I m so over it. My sisters, my sisters are little spoiled crybabies. When i was there age, I was hit so many times that the buckle of a belt feels like a pinch. I cried when I got kicked on the side. They cry if someone raises their voice at them the slightest bit. I m the smartest person in the house, so I m constantly angry because everyone comes to me when they need help. I help with things like homework, I translate for my mom and her husband, I never had help. I ve always been on my own, if I need help with something like homework, well that s too bad because if I don t know something they definitely won t. This road trip is hell, my sisters don t shut up, my mom is reading the bible out loud, my mom s husband has mexican music on blast, and I m just quietly suffering. ... However, there must be time for family, friends, social activities, and time to just be alone. The key is keeping proper balance. * Lack of taking advantage of student resources. There is really no reason for academic failure. Every college and university has an academic learning center where students can receive peer and faculty tutoring, without charge. Many students fail to seek help. * Attending the wrong college or university. Some students accept admission into schools they are not familiar with. But that simple act by one small girl played an important part in the Civil Rights Movement Ruby s mom got six year old Ruby into the all white William Frantz School because Ruby passed a very hard test. When Ruby started first grade, U.S. marshals took her to and from school and protected her from the angry white people. On the first day of school in 1960, Ruby and her mom sat in the office. Some adults took their children to school but most others did not. Ruby saw some people dragging their white kids out of the classrooms because they didn t want their kids going to the same school as a black kid. Ruby and her mom stayed in the office for the whole day of school. Many of the white parents and their kids were outside the school protesting. They were yelling and holding signs. The teachers still tried to teach the few students at school that day. The second day Ruby, her mom, and her teacher sat in the classroom. No white parents would allow their children to be in the same classroom with Ruby. Her teacher, Mrs. Henry, started to teach and was very loving toward Ruby. She supported and helped Ruby through the difficult time. On the third day of school, her mom didn t go with her. For the rest of the year, she was the only one in her class and she was taught on a whole different floor from all the other kids. The principal and many teachers also didn t think Ruby ... Various forms of abundance, control, and power are vices that humans are drawn to, utilizing them with greed and selfish intent in their hearts. Hieronymus Bosch, a Renaissance era painter from the Netherlands and most popular for his invention of Early Netherlandish style paint, depicts his take on human s overindulgence of the vices through a world famous piece titled The Garden of Earthly Delights . Created as a triptych, a three part painting divided into three separate panels, The Garden tells the story of humanity s empire, from the pure creation of man, to the corrupted result of man s overindulgence in the vices. Bosch s heavily references a biblical story, particularly of Adam and Eve, in this piece, a trait common in Early Netherlandish paintings. This painting style makes reference to biblical works as well as heavily emphasizes the use of shadows and light, allowing for the natural aspects of the landscape, animals, and humans within it to appear more life like. With the painting s richness in color, detail in linework, and overall composition of the characters within it, Bosch s The Garden of Earthly Delights evokes a deeper meaning to the formation and destruction of mankind s empire through mankind s tendency towards corruption ... • 8. Skate Skis The skate ski has a single camber. Compared to the classic ski the skate ski does not have a grip zone beneath the middle of the ski, but has a stiff camber. The entire base of the skate ski is a glide zone for the ski to move smoothly and continuously in snow. Because of the stiffness of the camber the skate ski has less flexibility than the classic ski. To determine the ski fit for skate skis it requires a different test than classic skis. If the skate skis does not have enough camber, then the skis are too soft. When the skier applies his weight to the skis, the entire bottom of the ski flattens. This causes a lot of pressure that is being applied in the center of the skis. With all this pressure under the foot of the skier the ski becomes unpredictable and erratic. However, if the skis have too much camber, the ski are too stiff ... • 9. The For A Good Risk Management Plan Alcohol and rock concerts often intersected over the course of time; plenty of concerts and festivals have either used alcohol as a sponsor or ancillary revenue. Alcohol and other types of concessions sold at festivals are considered ancillary revenue because it is derived from goods or services other than the primary service or good being offered (What is ancillary revenue, 2015, para.1). Therefore, serving alcohol at festivals is another way for the promotors, event managers, and the venue to obtain additional source of revenue. As the event manager for the Freedom festival, a rock roll festival being held at the PNC Music Pavilion in Charlotte, NC; it is the intention of the festival to provide the patrons with a safe and fun environment to enjoy their favorite music. The basis for a good risk management plan is providing a risk assessment for the event before determining how to address the possible risks. A risk assessment is a process to identify potential hazards and analyze what could happen if a hazard occurs (Risk Assessment, 2015, para.1). Therefore, the risk assessment will be used to identify the possible problems that can arise from alcohol. Or put another way, if you cut a holographic waveform printed image into four pieces and point the laser at each one you will not see four quarter segments of the holographic image. You will see four quarter sized versions of the whole hologram. Every part of a hologram is a smaller version of the whole. So maybe our body is just a hologram therefore every part of the body is a smaller version of the whole. This explains why reflexology, acupuncture and other forms of alternative healing can find areas in different parts of the body, hand, ear, foot, or suchlike, that affect different organs and the processes of the whole body. Joseph Conrad Influence On Things Fall Apart Books about Africa: How an Author Influences a Reader Without experiencing something firsthand, the only way to gain understanding of a foreign concept is through the words of other people. Thus, without visiting Africa, personal knowledge of it is limited and a reader must make decisions on what to believe. Two books about African culture are Chinua Achebe s historical fiction novel Things Fall Apart, and Joseph Conrad s novella Heart of Darkness. After analyzing both of these texts, a reader can see how one s perspective on a subject can be influenced based on how an author chooses to write about it. Achebe wrote this line to show the reader how an outsider can be ignorant to things they don t understand. Reading this line is jarring because of it s dark irony; throughout the whole book, the reader has gone on a journey with Okonkwo and has learned to relate and understand the Igbo. Then at the end of the book, He is using the character of the Commissioner to represent as a whole the post colonial Europeans who misjudge Africans. In fact, Achebe is making a meta reference to the genre of books about African culture which, at the time, were written by European outsiders. Achebe is angered by these authors namely Conrad himself for their stereotyped portrayal of African culture. St. Thomas Aquinas Cosmological Argument Catholic Church: St. Thomas Aquinas (Cosmological Argument) In St. Thomas Aquinas s cosmological argument claims the following that the universe exist and its very existence has a cause and that cause is God. In his unfinished book Summa Theologiae, Aquinas put forward five ways for the existence of God. His first way is the argument from motion and by studying the works of Aristotle, the Greek Philosopher, he concluded from common observation that the planets, rolling stone or any object that is in motion is put in motion by other forces or object. From this theory, Aquinas believes there must have been an unmoved mover which is God who sets things in motion. It is certain and evident that in the world some things are set in motion. Whatever is in motion is put in motion by another. Therefore, by which it is put in motion must also be put in motion by another and by another again but this cannot go for infinity because ... Aquinas states that common sense tells us that the universe works in such a way, that one can conclude that it was designed by an intelligent designer. In other words, all physical laws and the order of nature and life were designed and ordered by God. Because whatever lacks in intelligence cannot move towards an end, unless it be directed by some being with knowledge and intelligence. Some intelligent being exists by whom all natural things are directed to their end, and this being we call God. This argument by Aquinas is suggesting that inanimate objects such as the planets could not have placed themselves into the orbits they have, because they lack the intelligence to do so. Yet they are aligned so perfectly, this must mean it must have been done so by a being with the intelligence to do so. While these transplants proved to be unsuccessful, resulting in the demise of both patients, Dr. Jaboulay s work did lay the foundation for Dr. Yu Yu Voronoy, an Ukraninina surgeron that was the first to use a human kidney for transplantation. This excess power the Prime Minister has when compared to the President of American shows the difference ranges of power top leaders can have in their specific country. However, is the amount of power the Prime Minister has in Canada too much? To determine if the Prime Minister has too much power there are a few things that need to be considered. The first is the responsibilities of the Prime Minister and the power these responsibly give the position. Looking at how much power the Prime Minister has in relation to the amount of responsibilities placed on that government role will give insights into the necessities of that power. Some people may think of the slang version of this term while other may fondly remember the theater. In literary terms, an epic poem is considered to be a lengthy, narrative poem that has a focus on the exploits of a hero and is full of immense amounts of style and figurative language. Normally, by following this hero throughout the poem, the readers are introduced to the alignment between the poem with a specific nation or national identity. Several characteristics of epic poetry lend to this concept, especially those found in both The Faerie Queene and Paradise Lost. Both epic poems focus on historical context and on the characteristics of a heroic journey, the scale of the setting, and divine intervention in order to establish a trend of English nationalistic and religious identity. The period before these two poems were written in was filled with religious dissent that first began with Henry VIII s establishment of the Church of England. This action began a long chain of religious opposition between this new Protestant movement and Catholicism. This means that with the new calendar people will be more exact and orderly because of more work days. It also states that the new calendar will show the character of our revolution (Document 5). • 30. Relationship Between The United States And The People s... The relationship between the United States and the People s Republic of China is perhaps the most important bilateral tie shaping the future of the world. China s economy for the past 20 years has been riding a phenomenal wave of growth surging to become the world s second largest economic power. This prospering economy has additionally generated the necessary resources for China to rapidly strengthen and modernize its military and capabilities. These additional resources and capabilities makes China a viable partner with the United States to promote security and prosperity in Asia and around the world. According to President Obama in the 2015 National Security Strategy, the scope of our cooperation with China is unprecedented, even as we remain alert to China s military modernization. The evolving security environment in the PACOM area of responsibility is initiating the shift of our focus and forces to the Indo Asia Pacific region. Over the next 5 years, nearly half of all growth outside the United States is expected to come from Asia, and as reported by Global Trends 2030, China will contribute about one third of global growth by 2025, far more than any other country. This growth is vital to United States economic and security interests, and China s activities in this region will likely shape much of our nation s future; however, recent trends may prove establishing a peaceful long term relationship challenging. Admiral Locklear stated before the House Appropriations Committee Defense Subcommittee on PACOM Posture in March 2015 that recent statements by senior Chinese leaders, such as President Xi Jinping, suggest that China may be attempting to advance a vision for an alternative security architecture in Asia that affords Beijing increased influence in the region and diminishes the role of the United States. • 31. The Scientific Revolution And Religion The Scientific Revolution was not intended to be a war on religion and tradition even though it was interpreted as such. The Scientific Revolution, which lasted roughly from 1543 to 1642, was arguably the greatest development in the European intellectual history (Kreis, 2012). It was a revolution in the way people perceived the world. During this era, scientific revolutionaries like Nicholas Copernicus, the Polish astronomer (1473 1543); Descartes, the French philosopher (1596 1650) and Isaac Newton the British mathematician (1642 1727) tried to better understand man and the physical world thereby overturning the authorities of the Church and the scientists and philosophers who preceded them, including Ptolemy, Galen and Aristotle. It was mainly the Copernican theory that caused many to perceive the Scientific Revolution as a war on tradition. A year earlier, Cardinal Bellarmine, had authored his well known Letter to Foscarini in which he conveyed his displeasure with the heliocentric idea. Electronegativity Lab Problem: How does the electronegativity of 1.25 mol/L of hydrochloric acid, 1.25 mol/L of sulphuric acid, and 1.25 mol/L of nitric acid, affect the rate at which magnesium will react at room temperature(21°C)? Background: A chemical reaction is the rate at which a substance goes through a change and it is transformed into another substance that has different compositions as well as properties.1 The rate at which a chemical reaction occurs depends on many factors, some of which include the concentration of a reactant2, temperature2, collision theory and electronegativity3. Concentration of a reactant effects the rate of reactivity. An increase in concentration means that there are more particles present in a substance and they become more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1.25 mol/L of hydrochloric acid, 1.25 mol/L of sulphuric acid, and 1.25 mol/L of nitric acid are being used because they are obtainable acids that range in electronegativity, which will help satisfy the purpose of the lab. Magnesium metal is being used because it has an electronegativity that is different from all acids and it reacts fairly well with all acids in a reasonable amount of time, therefore the experiment can be better executed. The experiment will be done at room temperature of 21°C to ensure that the temperature is not speeding up or slowing down the reaction, as well as saving time and providing more accuracy. Chemical reactivity and its rate of reactivity is important as is can be applied in life. For example in medicine, different elements are mixed in a controlled environment to form medicines that are useful for the treatment of diseases. Also in the production of weapons such as guns and bombs, it is required for chemicals to react extremely vigorously to make the explosion go off and have the desired effect.6 ... Most experiments were performed on Jewish and Roma (Gypsy) children in the context of finding out the genetic origins of disease and to also to see if he could unlock the secret of multiple births in the hopes of increasing the German race. Of the 1000 set of twins that were experimented on, only 200 sets survived. (7). If Mengele did not deem the patients worthy of being kept alive, he would have their bodies dissected and cataloged. Mengele did such atrocious things to these children such as injecting lethal chemicals into their eyes in the hopes of creating blue eyes, a requirement for his pursuit of the perfect Aryan specimen (6). He also injected the patients with mysterious concoctions or syringes filled with diseases such as typhus or tuberculosis to see the effects on the body. The main reasons of this fact are that Yugoslavia was not liberated by the Red Army, but from the Yugoslav partisans. This army was led by communists. In 1945 the leader of the Communist Resistance, Josip Broz Tito, took the control of the country. Tito was not a soviet trained Stalinist; instead he was an independent national leader who did not accept to do as the Moscow wish. Originally called the violoncello, the cello received its name from violone meaning a larger and cello in Italian means shoulder. The meaning suggests a big violin that can be played between ones legs and held in place by a strap. The cello was also influenced by a number of people that made this instrument a success. There is a little history about this instrument that I think you will enjoy. The first known account of this instrument was in Agricola s, Wittenberg 1528, were it was part of a bass consort. The first known maker of a cello was Andrea Amati and his descendants in Cremona and Gasparo da Salo in Brescia during the 1500 s. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The dimensions of the cello are measured at around 75 6cm long and 44.5cm wide. The dimensions of the cello can be accredited to Antonio Stradivari back in 1707 with his smaller model they called forma B . The larger models of Stradivari times were the Servais cello of 1701 which is 79cm long and 47cm wide. The makers of cellos quickly realized that there was a need for more than one kind of cello. They needed the larger ones with thick strings for orchestra playing and also the smaller ones with thin strings for solo pieces. The measurements of the neck and fingerboard of cello that has been documented , is those of James Talbot in 1695 with the size of 10 inches long on the neck and 13 inches from the nut to the end of the fingerboard. The fingerboard would gain length as the range of the hand positions increased by the players. The instrument is played with a bow. Although Monteverdi was one of the first to use the violoncello in his piece Orfeo in 1607, many cellists used the instrument. In the 17th century around Bologna, Petronio Franceschini, Domenico Garielli, and Maria Jacchini were all well known solo performers. There are sonatas written by famous composers such as Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Chopin, and Brahms. There has been a number of cello concertos written were the solo is accompanied by an orchestra. • 40. Moon Formation There are multiple theories as to how the Moon was created and formed. The five stated are all created and developed by different scientists. The first theory they developed is the Capture theory, which states that the Moon has formed somewhere else and had been grabbed by Earth s gravitational pull. Second theory developed is the Fission Theory. It supports the idea that the substance, which formed the Moon, had been put out in the solar system by a fast spinning Earth. The Co Formation is the third theory, suggesting that the Moon formed along the Earth 4.5 billion years ago, combing the gas and dust in the same area. Further, into other theories, the Colliding Planetesimals theory supports the clear idea that the Moon condensed from debris when planetesimals (Earth s building block) crashed into each other. The final theory is the Giant Impact. This theory supports that the Moon s formation formed when combining material that had blasted into space clashed with a new Earth; about 4.4 billion years ago. • 41. Nuclear Power Plants In 1942, Enrico Fermi successfully sustained a nuclear fission reaction and created the world s first functional reactor. What his experiments, and those of earlier scientists like Otto Hahn and Fritz Strassman, showed was that by splitting the nucleus of heavy radioactive elements (like uranium and cadmium), energy is released, and the reaction could be designed to generate a sustained energy source (Schlager Weisblatt, 2006). Subsequent experiments illuminated the promise of nuclear energy as a reliable alternative to coal, and scientists and economists praised it as the future of energy. While nuclear power remains the most efficient form of energy (Nei.org, 2013), its early proponents failed to take into account the potentially devastating effects of a power plant overloading and exposing radioactive waste to nearby populations, and catastrophic events like the Chernobyl and Fukushima disasters have substantially undermined the promise of Nuclear Energy. The question of whether nuclear power will become the standard of energy production remains a hotly debated topic among economists and environmentalists alike. The economic costs of nuclear energy are vast, ranging from government oversights and barriers to entry, to variable human capital costs and fiercely competitive substitutes.
