 Narration is an art to provide the massage by Narrator in favor of reporters view.

DIRECT NARRATION
The reporter provides information
in the sentence of Narrator in the
two parts.
Reporting part
Reported part
Example-
He said, “I am going to
school.”
INDIRECT NARRATION
The reporter provides the news in
the narrators
own sentence.
Example-
He said that he
was going to school.
RULE TO CHANGE
Direct to
indirect -
 Remove inverted
coma.
 Add reported
speech using that.
 Change the
subject.
 Change the tense
according to
reporting speech.
Indirect to direct
-
 Add inverted
coma in reported
speech.
 Remove that.
 Change subject
with tense.
EXAMPLE -
Direct Narration-
 Ashok said, “I write a
letter.”
 He said, “I am
playing the match.”
 You said, “I have
eaten the food.”
Indirect Narration-
 Ashok said that he
wrote a letter.
 He said that he was
playing the match.
 You said that you had
eaten the food.

    RULE TO CHANGE Directto indirect -  Remove inverted coma.  Add reported speech using that.  Change the subject.  Change the tense according to reporting speech. Indirect to direct -  Add inverted coma in reported speech.  Remove that.  Change subject with tense.
