The document discusses production systems and methods for calculating standard times. It introduces key concepts like production systems, Just-in-Time (JIT), seven types of waste, 5S, bills of material (BOM), operation process charts (OPC) and standard time. Standard time can be calculated directly using a stopwatch or indirectly using standard time data tables, curves or formulas based on historical direct measurements. Direct calculation involves uniformity and sufficiency tests while indirect uses motion time data from developed tables.

Production planning and control refers to two strategies that work cohesively throughout the manufacturing process. Production planning involves what to produce, when to produce it, how much to produce, and more. A long-term view of production planning is necessary to fully optimize the production flow.
Production control uses different control techniques to reach optimum performance from the production system to achieve throughput targets.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

the material was right on time needed by the
production process, so it will greatly save even
eliminate the cost of inventory.
