Essay On Yellowtone Volcano
Yellowstone Park sits over a large volcano. The Yellowstone volcano is considered to be a super
volcano due to the violence and volume of ash that was produced in one eruption. Super volcano
eruptions can drastically impact the entire planet by causing potentially catastrophic climate change.
There have been no super volcano eruptions in human history. However, there have been many super
volcano eruptions at Yellowstone over the past 18 million years. The super volcano eruptions have
created what is known as the Yellowstone caldera. The last super volcano eruption was 640,000 years
ago. This eruption caused a pillar of ash to rocket into the air as high as 100,00 feet. From that height,
a layer of ash covered the land as far away as the Gulf of Mexico. There were actually two events

During this eruption, hot vapors escaped at temperatures around 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit. Ash was
blown out and covered tens of thousands of miles in volcanic dust. When the initial magma chamber
was finally emptied much of the roof to the chamber caved in causing a caldera that measures 45
miles long by 28 miles wide. Then the magma resurged form two domes. There are some lava flows
that are just 70,000 years old, which is not very old in geologic time. This leads to questions as to
whether the Yellowstone volcano is still active. Seismic studies show that shock waves from
explosions and earthquakes travel through the Earth s crust but is slowed when it passes under a
caldera. There are areas under the caldera where the seismic velocity is slower than normal. There are
spots where the slowdown occurs within depths as shallow as 1 mile. This may be because there is
molten lava in the crust. There are other locations that indicate there is even more magma beneath the
surface as deep as 100 miles. Seismic activity also indicates that there is magma beneath the crust in
the mantle. Uplift is also occurring at about ½ and inch per year

The Copybook Headings
What is one of Kipling s copybook headings that applies to recent public opinion? The Gods of The

terror and slaughter will people return to the the ultimate truth and away from false promises. With
this in mind we can apply this poem to the modern world. One copybook heading that struck me was

The Paucity of Water and its Effect on Gender Inequality in India
Based on a research survey conducted by the United Nations it reveals that, convenient access to water
and sanitation facilities increase privacy and reduce risk to women and girls of sexual harassment ...
(United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, 2005). Women living at the beginning
and middle points of the village have to trek for a considerable distance to reach the stream, when
compared to those who live at the bottom of the village near the stream. Women are the primary
stakeholders in the fight for clean water as sources such as many rivers and wells are contaminated as
they bear the burden and lack the freedoms that are necessary to ensure equality not inequality.
Women in India have limited access to resources and the ability to express in the public sphere, which
creates division of bearing the burden of responsibilities in the fight against the shortage of water. In
many rural areas in India, women have to walk a distance of about 2.5 kilometers to reach up to the
source of water. Women reach home carrying heavy pots, not to rest but to do other household chores
of cooking, cleaning, caring of children and looking after livestock, and in the evening fetching water.
Thus, a rural woman s life has become sheer drudgery for lack of water. There are many key causes of
the water crisis that are due to: a rapid growth

The World with Journalism
Career Research Project Essay
Without journalism, we would not be living the life we have today. At the end of the 20th Century
there was a poll on what was the greatest invention of the last millennium. The top invention was the
printing press invented by Guttenberg. The reason for the selection was the written word preserved
knowledge. Prior to this everything we learned was passed by word of mouth. Many disasters and
disease caused knowledge to be lost. Essentially mankind had to relearn things over and over again.
Journalism has been around since before the printing press was even invented. People have always,
naturally spread information. There were many peoples who had elders who would give the oral
history of their people and who would tell heroic tales. Homer told the story of the Iliad for the
Greeks. African chiefs told tales of bravery of their peoples. The same occurred throughout the World
from the American Indians, the Mayas and Aztec to the Aboriginals of Australia. Journalism is the
passing of knowledge and ideas between people.
From the creation of the printing press and Gutenberg s Bible, print journalism evolved to include
included reporting in newspapers, magazines and anything else that is printed. Print journalism later
expanded to broadcast journalism, photojournalism, gonzo journalism and many other forms of
journalism.
For example there are reporters who report news. This type of journalism can be news reporting for

Richard Neustadt Research Paper
Joseph Tadrous Professor Derek POLI SCI January 15, 2017 Lincoln Many U.S citizens think that the
president is all powerful and he rules everyone for his oval office, but in fact he has limited power,
those powers were set by Richard Neustadt. Neustadt was a political science expert. He was also a
presidential advisor for many presidents. Richard Neustadt was born on june 26 1919. He went to
Harvard and berkeley. Neustadt has many very interesting point on U.S president s power. Neustadt
focuses on three important traits that any president must have to be able to succeed in the oval office,
the power to persuade, his professional reputation and his public prestige. All of these traits help in the
passing and success of the president s 4 8 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The better the reputation of the president, the easier it will be to negotiate. There are people in
agencies and departments that have a huge amount of power and can have a huge force on the
president. There is an example that Neustadt illustrates to show a president s reputation being
questioned Neustadt stated Eisenhower s secretary of treasury George Humphrey publicly questioned
the integrity of some of Eisenhower s changes to the budget for that year of 1957. The very public
scrutiny by Humphrey, caused a national questioning of the budget and coarsely the reputation of
Eisenhower . Although Humphrey s words may not have been justified, Eisenhower s reputation was
scarred nonetheless . The president must always act and keeping in mind that there are those powerful
enough to publicly embarrass him. The last and important thing of presidential power that Neustadt
explains is public prestige. Public prestige is related to the president s reputation. Public prestige is
basically how the public views the president. Even though the public has no direct link with the
president, the public s view of the president affects how congress will act

Analysis Of World War II
World War II was one of the most widespread and deadliest battles fought. It left 291,557 United
States soldiers dead and 670,846 soldiers wounded throughout a period of six years. It took a huge
physiological toll on the soldiers, families, and even the people throughout the world. Many families
had to live with disabled veterans due to many factors, a major one being depression and not being
able to leave the house out of fear of another devastating event. Many families were robbed of
someone very important to their life, while others were left feeling robbed because the person they
once knew was not the same anymore. Many were depressed, sad, and scared. I thank every single

that facing his physical challenges was the easy part, but fighting the psychological challenges was the

mental fact that he did not all have all of his body parts. Roberto and his family suffered greatly, but
he said he never gave up because there was a purpose to his life and he continually had hope. I would
love to be able to work with veterans, like Mr. Barrera, and help them to realize that even though they

Personally, I know that I cannot change the minds of any veteran that has gone through such a

Schools And Campuses Should Step Up Security
In today s society we see more and more cases where somebody threatens a school whether it be a
bombing or a shooting. In some cases, these situations come without warning, somebody decides to
arm themselves and go terrorize a school or campus. You have instances like the Sandy Hook
Elementary shooting where Adam Lanza shot and killed 28 people. Another instance is just recently at
Ohio State University a student ran his car into a group of people and proceeded to stab eleven others
with a knife. They do so whether they have gone off the deep end and a re psychologically unstable or
if they do it in the name of some cause that they think is just, either way they threaten the lives and
sanity of students and staff and students alike. So it poses a question onThis poses the question of
whether or notwhether schools and campuses should step up security in order toto prevent these kinds
of disasters from happening to their schools. Should they make changes to security and be safer now
rather thaen sorry later or should they leave things alone in hopes that it will be enough if a situation
where to arise?. If they decide to make changes what options do they have to make a safe
environment?.
When it comes to improving security in schools and universities, I believe that there is always
something that could be done to provide a safer environment for students of all ages to learn. Each
school would have its own things that it could change to improve security, whether it be locking

Closed Adoption Essay
If you are currently entertaining the thought of adopting a child, you also need to think about what
type of adoption that you would like to have. The type of adoption you choose will determine if and
what type of relationship you have with your child s birth parents. The three main types of adoptions
are closed adoptions, semi open adoptions and open adoptions.
Closed Adoptions
In the past, most adoptions were closed. Many older adults who were adopted as children have no idea
who their birth parents were nor do they know anything about their medical or family history. One of
the most common reasons behinds closed adoptions were that the birth parents wanted to keep their

In a closed adoption, you may be asked to provide occasional updates on your child to the agency who
handled the adoption. This agency would then pass on these updates to your child s birth parents.
However, not all birth parents request this type of information.
One of the biggest advantages of semi open adoption is that your child will be able to access their
birth parent s health information, and your child s birth parents will agree to share important health
information with the adoption agency and with their child. This information can be crucial to your
child s health as they grow up.
Additionally, if your child wants to contact their birth parents when they are older, the adoption
agency can facilitate this request for them.
Open Adoptions
Finally, there are open adoptions. In an open adoption, your child will grow up knowing who there
birth parents are. You will provide updates a few times a year to your child s birth parents, and you
may even help your child foster a relationship with their birth

Creationism And Evolution Of School
Creationism and Evolution in school Almost every child has to go to school at some point in his or her
life. The legal age is between six and fifteen years old. Whether it is home school, private school,
public school, or any other way of being taught, it is a law that you have to attend school until you are
sixteen. (Queensland Para 1) That is, unless you can prove to the State Department of Education that
you should not be in school. What is taught in school applies to almost all Americans and applied to
almost all of Americans in their school career. That is whether they are still in school or they have
been out of school for a very long time. Parents need to take action and show their kids in general that

Creationism has undeniable facts. Many think it should be taught and at least be given a fair chance to
be put up against evolution. Evolution also has some true undeniable facts as well. As we learn more
and more every day, those facts tend to change though, unlike creationism which has stayed the same
since the beginning of time.
It is unfair that something is being taught without even being put into question or put up to another
opinion of why the Earth is here and how it got here. An example could be that in school, teachers
should not teach you about what political party they agree with and why that party is right. They
should be talking about both parties and giving both sides of the story and saying why they disagree.
This would show that they want you to be nonbiased and try to let you pick for yourself instead of
pushing you to side with their opinions. It is not right to only teach children, or anybody for that
matter only one view of an argument. Both sides should be taught in a way that is the least biased and
let the kids decide for themselves what is right or wrong. Whatever they choose, we need to support
them even if it is against what we believe. The most important thing we can do for our kids is to teach
them to think for themselves. But we cannot do that if we only give one side of the story, so they of

ARCHITECTURE SHOULD BE INFORMAL NOT RIGID.
New structure and informal by Cecil Balmond talks about Continuous and crisscrossing space that
spirals upwards looks like a series of cubes that have been inset into one another such formation

Cecil Balmond had explored the different ways of creating and developing new forms through careful
discovery by new and innovative techniques such as structural solution for roofing, overlapping of
points for roofing and rotating disc Balmond explores the idea of a generic pattern in the tilling of the
walls that transports into the structure from ornamentation to substance.

The fixed form that is copy nature directly becomes forced. Balmond states that instead that one
should see what needs to occur is a change in paradigm: acceptance of risk, and the building of
internal processes that embrace conflict; that inexactness in structure should be viewed as positive,
giving separate understandings of a singular structure on the basis of who is observing it, uses it or
experiencing the space.
Than it starts to focus on the informal, it is the method which includes thinking and doing that does
not have distinct rules and fixed patterns. The informal does not have a set of standards or rules and
methods it can be copied and applied to acts of making.
The informal is a result of interactions between relationships, the informal acts as an agent of release
and architecture are free from the traditional notions or rule of fixed grid and locked in cage .
According to Balmond informal is a way of architecture shedding off the links of previous design
movements and concepts that helps in a way of exploring and expanding the discipline. The informal
is known as liberation for architecture.
Balmond then takes us on a survey of work in which he shows how the informal has been applied and
utilized for new advancement and exploration in architecture before concluding with a discussion of
new structure and new science.
By removing fixed rules, there

The Optimization Problem Of Matlab Routines
Relevant numerical techniques, which have been done with the help of MATLAB routines, are applied
to solve the arising optimization problem and to find the optimum parameters of the TMD. For a given
mass ratio, µ, one can assume different values of the frequency ratio, f, and for each frequency ratio
assuming a range of damping factor ζ2 of the TMD and estimate the optimum parameters that
minimize a certain desired output. Fig. 8 is an example of the numerical optimization conducted to
estimate the optimal frequency ratio and damping factor of the TMD for two different mass ratios
under wind loads modeled as white noise. The optimization is based on the minimization of the
displacement of the primary structure. In this numerical optimization, the responses of the primary
structure are normalized, which means that the response obtained with the TMD when attached to the
structure is divided by the corresponding response obtained without the TMD. The optimal values of
the frequency ratio and the damping factor of the TMD are written on the subfigures. It is shown that a
TMD with 1% mass ratio can provide a significant reduction in the displacement response of the
primary structure. The reduction in the displacement depends very much on the tuning frequency and
the damping ratio of the TMD. By increasing the mass ratio from 1% to 5%, the displacement
response of the primary structure is reduced. However, the TMD with 5% mass ratio is more robust to
the changes in the frequency

Income Inequalities In America
In the United States, income inequality is obvious and widespread. Presidential candidates realize
income inequality will be a major point of any presidential campaign. The major civil rights issue of
today is income inequality. Such a large misdistribution of wealth has likened modern economics to
slavery. Lower income workers are forced to work longer hours at a stagnant wage to maintain
consumption. On the other hand, to say that the super rich are beyond fairly compensated is an
understatement. The top 10 percent of wage earners received 48.2 percent of total earnings in 2012.

Advances in technology has resulted in the best competitors being overly compensated in comparison
to their competition. Financial markets are more efficient than ever with the help of advanced
computing technology. Capital flows unapologetically from the hands of the semi successful to the
very successful. The rapid pace of progress in information technology has increased the demand for
the highly skilled and educated. This is due to the complexity of information technology jobs.
Technology continues to replace workers. Low skilled job opportunities such as cashiers are being
replaced by self check outs and bank tellers are being replaced by ATMs. Other jobs that required
multiple humans now require a few machines and a single person to maintain them. As a result,
income distribution favored the highly educated. Due to rising tuition costs, only families that could
afford to send their children to college did so. High pay leads affordable college for kids, which leads
to high pay. This cycle likely exacerbates the income inequality problem, as it stretches privilege

Investigating How Different Components Of A Motor Affects...
1.0 Introduction
The purpose of this Extended Experimental Investigation is to present a formal scientific report on
motors after researching, designing and conducting experiments to investigate how different
components of a motor affects its performance capabilities and how these can be changed to produce a
better motor. The information should be researched and understood to provide evidence for your
knowledge of the task. What is a Motor?
Motors are everywhere, the power almost everything we use, from kitchen supplies to our automobiles
and transport even to kinds toys, they are the essence of putting an object into motion. Most motors
consist of the same various items needed to for it to work, magnets, coils of wire, and a power supple.
Whilst in the process of discovering what a motor is the desired motor to be used for this investigation
is a simple DC motor were a power supply is used to power the motor to start to spin unlike some
other motors like in cars where they rely on all other forms of injections for it to power such a large
object. An el
ectric motor is all about magnets and magnetism: A motor uses magnets to create motion.
Electric motors involve rotating coils of wire which are driven by the magnetic force exerted by a
magnetic field on an electric current. They transform electrical energy into mechanical energy
(Internet 1). As a simple motor will be created, the design of how to create this can be seen in figure

Hormones And Levels Of These Hormones
hormones and levels of these hormones. The amount and type of hormones we experience while in the
womb are responsible for differentiating female brains from male brains and vice versa.
These two instances, the guinea pig and sex reassignment studies, lend credence to the idea that
biology influences our sexual orientation. To bolster these findings Bailey et al. (2000) cite researchers
who have explored regions of the brain that are sexually dimorphic (areas that are notably different in
men and women). Bailey et al. (2000) cites that in 1976 Dorner identified two brain regions in rats
that he implicated in sexual behavior for rats. In males he credited the medial pre optic anterior
hypothalamus (mPOA) and in female rats the area he believed to be responsible for normal sexual
behavior was the ventromedial nucleus (Bailey et al., 2000). This led to others exploring the areas of
the hypothalamus thought to contribute to sexual functioning. Ultimately it was found that several
areas in and around the mPOA appear to be sexually dimorphic. Bailey et al. (2000) mention that upon
comparisons of what is expected when looking at these areas in gay men there is a difference in size.
An area near/in the mPOA called INAH 3 is found to be smaller and contain fewer cells in women
compared to men. Gay men showed size and levels higher than women but less than men. Also
findings have shown that the anterior commissure (AC) that connects the right and left hemispheres is

Transnational Corporation And What Impacts Do They Have On...
What is a Transnational Corporation and what impacts do they have on society? Before we can discuss
the impacts these types of corporations have on society, we must first have a basic knowledge of
exactly what a Transnational Corporation is and how they are formed. Then we can begin to
comprehend how these corporations impact things such as international trade and the effects they have
on cultures throughout the world. Let s begin by defining a Transnational Corporations. Most of
individuals draw there meaning of a term from how it is used in a sentence and from our own
background, but we all know that can change the meaning of the word. We also know that this can be
close or way of base as to the actual meaning. So, let s see what the definition is for Transnational
Corporation. According to West s Encyclopedia of American Law, A Transnational, or multinational,
corporation has its headquarters in one country and operates wholly or partially owned subsidiaries in
one or more other countries. (Lehman and Phelps, 2008) Here is another definition of the topic
Multinational corporations are corporations whose home offices are in one country but have
significant fixed investments in other countries. These investments might be in factories or
warehouses, transportation or telecommunications, mining or agriculture. (Burton, 2002) Now you
have two different version of what this type of corporation is. However, my interpretation is, this is a

My Experience In High School
Before graduating elementary and jumping into middle school my homeroom adviser always advises
us to try and enter the school program in this particular high school. The thing is to enter the program
you need to take an entrance exam and get at least 85% on it. The first week of May 2012 my mom
and I went to my elementary school to collect my transcripts that I needed to enroll for grade 7. At that
moment and for the last time I saw my grade 6 teachers. Upon getting my transcripts I can hear my
grade six teachers asking my mom if I will take the entrance exam.
Two weeks later after getting my transcripts, my mother and I went to the high school. The school was
crowded, it was very foreign to me, as I viewed it as I am a small shack in a city full of skyscrapers.
Before enrolling, we talked about trying to take the entrance exam for the program the high school
offers, I agreed. There is no harm in trying anyway, so I will try to give my best just to pass that exam.
Then the day of the entrance exam came. I expected that you can seat wherever you want during the
exam but to my dismay that wasn t the case. The spectators arrange us alphabetically, so being my last
name starts with an A, I was always the first one or if I am lucky the second one to be called. The
spectators were calling our last names one by one, boys were the first one to be called. After all the
boys were called, I got nervous as it is the girls turn to be called. I was called third, and I was placed
in the room where the boys are taking the exam. Along with the two girls that I don t know and who is
sitting in the far front.
During the duration of the exam, I can hear paper shuffling repeatedly. I looked at where the noise was

few words and tell him to stop flipping his paper but I failed, as on the other hand, he thought I am

I Am A University At Grove City High School
About the Author (Part I (A D))
Hello, my name is Rae Kelly Hamilton! I am a rising senior attending Grove City High School, where
I m a member of the graduating class of 2016. I hope to attend a prestigious university, preferably a
military Service Academy, Johns Hopkins University, or Washington and Lee University. I also hope
to play collegiate volleyball while studying either a hard science or engineering while on a pre med
track. Outside the classroom, I enjoy volunteering, reading, and hanging out with friends. One day, my
dream is to be a military doctor with expertise in cardiology.
My particular interest in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) was sparked when I met a little boy
while on vacation who is a DMD patient.
Thesis (Part II (A B))
New parents often bask in the enjoyment of their young children as they lovingly watch the days pass
as their life story is written. Though a great amount of parents are lucky enough to avoid an encounter
with illness threatening to steal their child s life, many can only hope that their child will not be the
single male child of every 3,500 to be afflicted by DMD (Peterlin , 2014). Too many boys somewhere
between 400 and 600 annually will be born with DMD and its sister illness Becker Muscular
Dystrophy in the United States alone (Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy, 2015). The
symptoms associated with this devastating disease generally render the child wheelchair bound by
adolescence and fighting a life expectancy of only 18

Corruption In The Catholic
The Vatican, situated within Rome, Italy, is the capital of the Catholic faith. Lead by a Pope, who is
chosen by the Cardinals when one dies or retires, is the source of leadership for Catholics around the
world. It has also been a source for many conspiracy theories. Dan Brown even set his Illuminati
based novel Angels and Demons in the holy city of Catholics. Many others love to have Illuminati
base theories set within this important place. What people do not realize is that there is a much deeper,
very real corruption going on within the walls of the sacred city. The Vatican recently arrested two
employees who worked on financial business for leaking information to two authors whose books will
be published and will expose the financial troubles of the Vatican. The books claims a misuse of
money by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While it is still debatable on whether or not the information in the expository books is trustworthy or
not, there is no doubt that financial mismanagement existed. If there had been no mismanagement, it
would be very odd that Pope Francis created groups and hired others to help with the finances and odd
that he chastised employees for the debts. It seems that Pope Francis is indeed what the leadership of
the Catholics needed. He has begun changing the way things are in social concerns as well. He focuses
on changing the Vatican and the leadership of the faith for the better. Financial corrections and the end
of corruption is just one of the many ways he is doing so. While it is not the deep conspiracy
corruption many in the world fantasize about, the financial troubles because of officials not wanting to
pay so much or whatever truly happened is still a troubling corruption in itself. Those who work for
the papacy need to embody the traits that believers would expect of someone who works for the
Catholic faith. Pope Francis is the one who will make sure that that reform is

The Influence Of Righting Reflex On Earth
THE SCIENCE BEHIND; Why cats always land on their feet
Felines, such interesting animals, varying from a large ferocious lion to a meer house cat. These
creatures are powerful and very intelligent animals, with the occasionally clumsy cat. One of their
most used skills is their ability to leap, jump or fall and always land on their feet. They make it look so
easy. But do not be deceived, there is actually some complicated feline effort and science that goes
into their graceful tumbles and leaps.
Righting Reflex, that s the basic and simple answer. The righting Reflex is a cat s ability to almost
instantaneously turn itself towards the ground, allowing itself to almost always land on their feet, but
there always that cat who will be distracted by a bird or something. Cats have a very flexible backbone

Comparing Cloning, Cryonics, And Calorie Restriction
Since ancient times there has always been a debate in the field of philosophy of whether individuals
continue to live after death. Although many religions believe in the concept of immortality . I believe
that immortality could exist, because of cloning, cryonics, and Calorie Restriction. For hundreds of
years people have been attempting to preserve and prolong life, and essentially become immortal.
There are many new technologies in this time of scientific exploration and advancement that claim to
do these things. There are many methods that are currently being studied as ways to either prolong life
or to become immortal. All of these aspects take a different approach to man s constant search for
immortality. Immortality has primarily been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If death is an eternal oblivion then cryonics can offer an alternative and the probability, no matter how
unlikely, cryonics can offer a future. Cryonics is particularly popular among people who want to be
immortal . Cryonics is nothing more than an attempt of raising the dead making them alive again.
Actually the word cryonics is the practice of chilling a dead body at subzero levels in the hopes of
someday reviving it. Cryonics is the practice of cooling a person immediately after death to the point
where the molecular physical decay completely stops, and the presumption is that scientific and
medical procedures currently being created will be able to revive them and restore them to good health
later. A patient held in such a state is said to be in cryonic suspension . There is reasons to believe that
current cryonics procedures will preserve the anatomical basis of the mind. Cryonics became more
efficient with the implementation of nanotechnology in it . The first mention of nanotech occurred in a
speech given by Richard Feynman in 1959. Historically cryonic experiments started in 1962 with the
publication of the prospect of immortality . The main idea of cryonics is that personality, identity, and
memory are going to be stored in cellular structures in the brain. There are many paths to immortality
and it seems that cryonics could be a path to do

Love Is Only A Temporary Illusion In The Chaser By John...
The Chaser is a short story written by John Collier referring to a man named Alan attempting to
purchase a cheap love potion so a woman, Diana will love him the way he loves her. The theme of the
story is Love is only a temporary illusion. Lots of ordinary people fall in love and naively believe it
will last forever. As they are in the grasp of the illusion they will do ANYTHING to acquire a type of
control over their loved ones, but once reality finally sets in the once passionate lovers eyes are finally
opened to reality and he understands the one he is tied to is completely incompatible with him and
doesn t satisfy his expectations for the relationship.
Alan was a love sick man who desperately wanted this woman who seemed to be not so fond of him.
He doesn t want to except the fact Diana doesn t love him so Alan goes to an old man who sells him a
love potion for $1 and warns him that it is not reversible. The old man also mentions the most
expensive potion he has, the life cleaner. . In the short story, the old man states in line 16 ,I look at it
like this, please a customer with one article and he will come back when he needs another, even if it is
more costly. He will save up for it, if necessary. This quote gives the reader the idea that something is

The Career Of Thomas Edison
The possibility that I might one day conceive of a patentable idea is an appealing one. After all, not
many human endeavours could lead to both fame as well as wealth with so little effort. That notion is
an illusion of course as the career of Thomas Edison illustrates. Edison was a man of enormous
accomplishments. Armed only with his natural abilities and aptitudes, Edison, who had only a limited
education, changed the face of the planet and the lives of almost every human being with his
inventions. The only individual who invented a greater number of things was Leonard Da Vinci and
many of his inventions were conceived before the technology that would permit them to be built,
existed. In addition, Da Vinci designed many weapons of war, which was something Edison took great
pride in having never done. All of Edison s inventions facilitated the production of consumable goods
or the enjoyment of life.
A patent is simply a license issued by a government that acknowledges an invention and protects the
inventor from having others steal his/her original design/idea and produce it in order to make a profit
from it. This is the financial benefit that accrues from an invention but there is another value that may
be assigned to an inventor. That of course is the professional satisfaction that the inventor will feel
when his work is acclaimed by his peers or in the case of popular inventions, fame of the public. The
latter may be achieved by publishing the idea (or a description of

The Wretched Of The Earth
Political Resistance
According to The Wretched of the Earth, violence becomes the only approach to help the colonized
people to achieve self defined identity and national consciousness (Blecker, 2013). When the colonials
commanded Hong Kong people to maintain where colonialism has assigned them, Hong Kong
resisted instead of following the order. There were two symbolic movements that reflected Hong
Kongers discontent with British and Chinese governments policies.
The movement that conveyed Hong Kong people s discontent with the British colonial government is
the Hong Kong Leftist riots in 1967. After the breakout of the Cultural Revolution in China, pro
communist leftists in Hong Kong actively found opportunities to cause conflicts against the colonial
government. The labor disputes at the Hong Kong Artificial Flower Factory were a perfect time to
instigate Hong Kong people to oppose its colonial government. Along with the success of leftists
demonstrations in Macau and Hong Kong s social conflicts stemmed from poor working conditions,
the disputes developed into large scale demonstrations against British colonial rule. Many pro
communist demonstrators shouted Mao s slogans with Little Red Books held in their hands. At the end
of the demonstrations without the supports of Hong Kong citizens, the riots failed and were
discontinued by the first Premier of the People s Republic of China, Zhou Enlai.
The riots evoked Hong Kong people s awareness for their local

Suspense And Surprise In Agatha Christie s And Then There...
Suspense and surprise in And Then There Were None Although every well written murder mystery
does not have fixed mode because the writers of detective story always want to give their readers a
unique feeling, suspense and surprise are essential and indispensable features in a well written murder
mystery. (Alewyn 184) In Agatha Christie s And Then There Were None, she fully combines suspense
and surprise, through the omniscient point of view and poignant plot. Therefore, And Then There
Were None is a well written murder mystery. The omniscient point of view means a method of
storytelling in which the narrator knows the thoughts and feelings of all of the characters in the story.
(Abrams 233) Plot is the series of events that form the story of a novel, play, and film (Abrams 294). I
will show the suspense and surprise through the analysis of the narrative, rising action, climax, and
falling action as well as use specific textual evidence from this fiction novel to prove it. In And Then

Causes Of Panic Disorders
You may be asking, What is a panic disorder? Well, a panic disorder is a psychiatric disorder in which
debilitating anxiety and fear arise frequently and without reasonable cause. This means that you are
uncontrollably being frightened without even knowing the reason for this panic. Also, women are
more at a risk from anxiety disorders. Finally, it happens out of nowhere. Therefore, it can happen
anytime and anywhere. There is not a specific cause that has to do with panic disorder. Some studies
have proven that family history, abnormalities in the brain, substance abuse, and major life stress can
generate these reactions. Hyperthyroidism, or overactive thyroid gland, can cause panic disorders, as
well. Low blood sugar can cause panic attacks.

Capital punishment’s validity in the legal system...
Capital punishment s validity in the legal system continues to be questioned but has been a huge part
in human society and the legal system for centuries to restrain dangerous criminals and crimes. Later
on, the death penalty as a punishment became a crime in itself, a crime against humanity thought by
many, because killing, is killing no matter what. And it is wrong. To this day the argument continues.
First of all, the death penalty seems somewhat barbaric and violates the cruel and unusual within the
meaning of the eighth Amendment. This kind of punishment also sends the wrong message for what is
trying to be accomplished: why kill people who kill people to show killing is wrong. Another kind of
punishment for criminals is life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This method was affirmed by the Supreme Court as constitutional. Yes, this way may be much more
humane but it still doesn t change the fact that the U.S is killing someone and taking a life away.
Capital punishment violates the right to life, which is the most basic of human rights, undermining
human dignity that is inherent to every single human being no matter what crime was committed.
Death today is not how it was a long time ago. Do two wrongs make a right? A big argument dealing
with capital punishment is that when someone kills another person, does that give you the right to kill
that person. Yes murder is a serious crime, but how do we expect it to be looked down upon if it s
what we are doing to our criminals. Is it really up to us? To kill a person who has killed is a continued
cycle of violence. Expressing this doesn t make the crime go away, it contaminates the good and
shows that you must fight back. Capital punishment feeds the cycle of violence in society by
pandering to a lust for revenge. It brutalizes us and deadens our sensitivities to the precious nature of
every single human life. Most Rev. David B. Thompson, Bishop of Charleston, S.C., December, 1998.
Killing people that may serve as a threat to society may save individual citizens lives but the chances
are higher for loser innocent citizens sentenced to the death penalty, which is also more common than

Language In The Dark Knight
In the film The Dark Knight, the director Christopher Nolan uses many language features to
effectively highlight the contrast between good and evil, and that people have both good and evil
within them. One of the most significant scenes that highlights these ideas is the scene where Bane has
been knocked to the ground by Batman which crosscuts with the flashback scene of Miranda and Bane
s past.
The language features character actions, camera work and characterisation, helped me see the contrast
between good and evil, and how people have both good and evil within them, in the scene where
Batman has knocked Bane to the ground and is viciously punching him. As Batman is doing this,
Nolan has angled the camera at a low angle on Batman to make him look big, scary, ... Show more

Nolan wants us the audience to see that no one is perfectly good, not even Batman because he abuses
people even though it is for a good purpose. Nolan wants us to see that not even someone as
righteously good as Batman, is perfectly good, they still have their evil flaws. Understanding this
makes us humans feel scared and aware that even friendly and nice people, like ourselves, can be as
violent and scary as Batman was.
Nolan uses the language features crosscutting, camera work, costume and symbolism to highlight the
contrast between good and evil and that people have both good and evil within them in the flashback
scene, where we see that, as a child, Miranda was saved by Bane from people who were attacking the
people in the pit she was in, Bane included. After we, the audience, see this, the scene crosscuts to a
scene of the present. Nolan uses a close up camera shot on Bane s face so that we see the tear that rolls
down his cheek. By crosscutting the scene where Bane saves Miranda, with the close up of Bane s
face, our perspective on Bane s character changes and we see the contrast between good and evil in
him. Throughout the film, Nolan had us convinced that Bane was just pure evil,

The White Rose Moral Courage
The courageous people that took part in the White Rose acts are the best definitions of showing moral
courage. The White Rose s acts that happened during World War II made a big difference. A group of
young men and women stood up for what is right, and we need more of that in this world. We need
more moral courage in this modern day world. Many people do not know about the White Rose
actions but, everyone should. Everyone should also look into their actions, take them into
consideration and learn from them.
In Nazi, Germany during World War II in 1942 a group including Willi Graf, Alexander Schmorell,
Kurt Huber Christoph Probst, Hans Scholl and his sister Sophie Scholl formed a non violent resistance
group that made leaflets. The group was influenced by a young German youth group that Chrisoph
Probst was a member of. Hans Scholl was a member of the Hitler Youth until 1936 and Sophie was a
member of the Bund Deutscher Mädel. Willi Graf was a member of Neudeutschland, a young catholic

exactly where we shall go, but we ll take anyone who is willing to come with us (page 14). Hazel is
strong and brave and is willing to go anywhere to help his friends from not being harmed by anything
that they may come across. Being brave really helps the leader be a better leader than they already are
because they are confident enough to do what is needed although it may scare them. Although Hazel
got injured because of the men that came to kill and hurt the rabbits, he still powered through the pain
and was a great leader even while he was hurt. Hazel was strong even when he go hurt from running

Research Paper On Fashion Photographer
Introduction From the sound of it, a fashion photographer is a person who makes a living in the
fashion world from taking photographs of clothing and accessories lines. Through this, the

The Evolution Of Health Care
What is quality in health care? We can divide it into three elements:
1. Care by practitioners and other providers which means receive correct diagnosis and an appropriate
strategy of care from practitioners; and convenience, comfort, quite, privacy, food etc. from care
providers.
2. Care Implemented by patient that means patient should take care not only for him or herself but also
for his or her family. It is patient s responsibility if he or she succeed or fail of getting health care.
3. Care received by community as the whole. People should judge the social distribution of levels of
quality in the community. It depends on who has an access more or less to care and after having
access, receiving it in good or low quality. The evolution of health care in the United States started
over 300 years ago. It is divided into six main important eras: the charitable, the educational era, the
insurance era, the government era, the managed care era and the consumerism era. The charitable
includes period from about 1700 to about 1830. In the beginning of this period, health care was
provided voluntarily in public houses mostly for needy citizens. Those who had money could afford

  • 2. Essay On Yellowtone Volcano Yellowstone Park sits over a large volcano. The Yellowstone volcano is considered to be a super volcano due to the violence and volume of ash that was produced in one eruption. Super volcano eruptions can drastically impact the entire planet by causing potentially catastrophic climate change. There have been no super volcano eruptions in human history. However, there have been many super volcano eruptions at Yellowstone over the past 18 million years. The super volcano eruptions have created what is known as the Yellowstone caldera. The last super volcano eruption was 640,000 years ago. This eruption caused a pillar of ash to rocket into the air as high as 100,00 feet. From that height, a layer of ash covered the land as far away as the Gulf of Mexico. There were actually two events more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During this eruption, hot vapors escaped at temperatures around 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit. Ash was blown out and covered tens of thousands of miles in volcanic dust. When the initial magma chamber was finally emptied much of the roof to the chamber caved in causing a caldera that measures 45 miles long by 28 miles wide. Then the magma resurged form two domes. There are some lava flows that are just 70,000 years old, which is not very old in geologic time. This leads to questions as to whether the Yellowstone volcano is still active. Seismic studies show that shock waves from explosions and earthquakes travel through the Earth s crust but is slowed when it passes under a caldera. There are areas under the caldera where the seismic velocity is slower than normal. There are spots where the slowdown occurs within depths as shallow as 1 mile. This may be because there is molten lava in the crust. There are other locations that indicate there is even more magma beneath the surface as deep as 100 miles. Seismic activity also indicates that there is magma beneath the crust in the mantle. Uplift is also occurring at about ½ and inch per year ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Copybook Headings What is one of Kipling s copybook headings that applies to recent public opinion? The Gods of The Copybook Headings poem by Rudyard Kipling, is a warning against socialist society. The Gods of the Copybook Headings. are the ultimate truths of this world, and the Gods of the Marketplace are passing fads, in the case socialism, that promise wonderful things. These fads try to ignore the Gods of the Copybook Headings , and attempt to convince people of their ideas. Kipling states that only after terror and slaughter will people return to the the ultimate truth and away from false promises. With this in mind we can apply this poem to the modern world. • 4. The Scarcity Of Water And Its Effect On Gender Inequality Jonathan Dalloo Professor Lewis Sociology 2201 December 12, 2016 The Paucity of Water and its Effect on Gender Inequality in India Based on a research survey conducted by the United Nations it reveals that, convenient access to water and sanitation facilities increase privacy and reduce risk to women and girls of sexual harassment ... (United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, 2005). Women living at the beginning and middle points of the village have to trek for a considerable distance to reach the stream, when compared to those who live at the bottom of the village near the stream. Women are the primary stakeholders in the fight for clean water as sources such as many rivers and wells are contaminated as they bear the burden and lack the freedoms that are necessary to ensure equality not inequality. Women in India have limited access to resources and the ability to express in the public sphere, which creates division of bearing the burden of responsibilities in the fight against the shortage of water. In many rural areas in India, women have to walk a distance of about 2.5 kilometers to reach up to the source of water. Women reach home carrying heavy pots, not to rest but to do other household chores of cooking, cleaning, caring of children and looking after livestock, and in the evening fetching water. Thus, a rural woman s life has become sheer drudgery for lack of water. There are many key causes of the water crisis that are due to: a rapid growth ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The World with Journalism Career Research Project Essay Without journalism, we would not be living the life we have today. At the end of the 20th Century there was a poll on what was the greatest invention of the last millennium. The top invention was the printing press invented by Guttenberg. The reason for the selection was the written word preserved knowledge. Prior to this everything we learned was passed by word of mouth. Many disasters and disease caused knowledge to be lost. Essentially mankind had to relearn things over and over again. Journalism has been around since before the printing press was even invented. People have always, naturally spread information. There were many peoples who had elders who would give the oral history of their people and who would tell heroic tales. Homer told the story of the Iliad for the Greeks. African chiefs told tales of bravery of their peoples. The same occurred throughout the World from the American Indians, the Mayas and Aztec to the Aboriginals of Australia. Journalism is the passing of knowledge and ideas between people. From the creation of the printing press and Gutenberg s Bible, print journalism evolved to include included reporting in newspapers, magazines and anything else that is printed. Print journalism later expanded to broadcast journalism, photojournalism, gonzo journalism and many other forms of journalism. For example there are reporters who report news. There are people in agencies and departments that have a huge amount of power and can have a huge force on the president. There is an example that Neustadt illustrates to show a president s reputation being questioned Neustadt stated Eisenhower s secretary of treasury George Humphrey publicly questioned the integrity of some of Eisenhower s changes to the budget for that year of 1957. Although Humphrey s words may not have been justified, Eisenhower s reputation was scarred nonetheless . The president must always act and keeping in mind that there are those powerful enough to publicly embarrass him. It left 291,557 United States soldiers dead and 670,846 soldiers wounded throughout a period of six years. It took a huge physiological toll on the soldiers, families, and even the people throughout the world. Many families had to live with disabled veterans due to many factors, a major one being depression and not being able to leave the house out of fear of another devastating event. In some cases, these situations come without warning, somebody decides to arm themselves and go terrorize a school or campus. You have instances like the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting where Adam Lanza shot and killed 28 people. Another instance is just recently at Ohio State University a student ran his car into a group of people and proceeded to stab eleven others with a knife. They do so whether they have gone off the deep end and a re psychologically unstable or if they do it in the name of some cause that they think is just, either way they threaten the lives and sanity of students and staff and students alike. So it poses a question onThis poses the question of whether or notwhether schools and campuses should step up security in order toto prevent these kinds of disasters from happening to their schools. Should they make changes to security and be safer now rather thaen sorry later or should they leave things alone in hopes that it will be enough if a situation where to arise?. If they decide to make changes what options do they have to make a safe environment?. This information can be crucial to your child s health as they grow up. Additionally, if your child wants to contact their birth parents when they are older, the adoption agency can facilitate this request for them. Open Adoptions Finally, there are open adoptions. Evolution also has some true undeniable facts as well. As we learn more and more every day, those facts tend to change though, unlike creationism which has stayed the same since the beginning of time. It is unfair that something is being taught without even being put into question or put up to another opinion of why the Earth is here and how it got here. An example could be that in school, teachers should not teach you about what political party they agree with and why that party is right. They should be talking about both parties and giving both sides of the story and saying why they disagree. This would show that they want you to be nonbiased and try to let you pick for yourself instead of pushing you to side with their opinions. It is not right to only teach children, or anybody for that matter only one view of an argument. Both sides should be taught in a way that is the least biased and let the kids decide for themselves what is right or wrong. The Optimization Problem Of Matlab Routines Relevant numerical techniques, which have been done with the help of MATLAB routines, are applied to solve the arising optimization problem and to find the optimum parameters of the TMD. For a given mass ratio, µ, one can assume different values of the frequency ratio, f, and for each frequency ratio assuming a range of damping factor ζ2 of the TMD and estimate the optimum parameters that minimize a certain desired output. Fig. 8 is an example of the numerical optimization conducted to estimate the optimal frequency ratio and damping factor of the TMD for two different mass ratios under wind loads modeled as white noise. The optimization is based on the minimization of the displacement of the primary structure. In this numerical optimization, the responses of the primary structure are normalized, which means that the response obtained with the TMD when attached to the structure is divided by the corresponding response obtained without the TMD. The optimal values of the frequency ratio and the damping factor of the TMD are written on the subfigures. It is shown that a TMD with 1% mass ratio can provide a significant reduction in the displacement response of the primary structure. The reduction in the displacement depends very much on the tuning frequency and the damping ratio of the TMD. By increasing the mass ratio from 1% to 5%, the displacement response of the primary structure is reduced. However, the TMD with 5% mass ratio is more robust to the changes in the frequency ... The information should be researched and understood to provide evidence for your knowledge of the task. What is a Motor? Motors are everywhere, the power almost everything we use, from kitchen supplies to our automobiles and transport even to kinds toys, they are the essence of putting an object into motion. Most motors consist of the same various items needed to for it to work, magnets, coils of wire, and a power supple. Whilst in the process of discovering what a motor is the desired motor to be used for this investigation is a simple DC motor were a power supply is used to power the motor to start to spin unlike some other motors like in cars where they rely on all other forms of injections for it to power such a large object. An el ectric motor is all about magnets and magnetism: A motor uses magnets to create motion. Electric motors involve rotating coils of wire which are driven by the magnetic force exerted by a magnetic field on an electric current. The amount and type of hormones we experience while in the womb are responsible for differentiating female brains from male brains and vice versa. These two instances, the guinea pig and sex reassignment studies, lend credence to the idea that biology influences our sexual orientation. To bolster these findings Bailey et al. (2000) cite researchers who have explored regions of the brain that are sexually dimorphic (areas that are notably different in men and women). Bailey et al. (2000) cites that in 1976 Dorner identified two brain regions in rats that he implicated in sexual behavior for rats. In males he credited the medial pre optic anterior hypothalamus (mPOA) and in female rats the area he believed to be responsible for normal sexual behavior was the ventromedial nucleus (Bailey et al., 2000). This led to others exploring the areas of the hypothalamus thought to contribute to sexual functioning. Ultimately it was found that several areas in and around the mPOA appear to be sexually dimorphic. Bailey et al. (2000) mention that upon comparisons of what is expected when looking at these areas in gay men there is a difference in size. An area near/in the mPOA called INAH 3 is found to be smaller and contain fewer cells in women compared to men. Gay men showed size and levels higher than women but less than men. • 30. The Career Of Thomas Edison The possibility that I might one day conceive of a patentable idea is an appealing one. After all, not many human endeavours could lead to both fame as well as wealth with so little effort. That notion is an illusion of course as the career of Thomas Edison illustrates. Edison was a man of enormous accomplishments. Armed only with his natural abilities and aptitudes, Edison, who had only a limited education, changed the face of the planet and the lives of almost every human being with his inventions. The only individual who invented a greater number of things was Leonard Da Vinci and many of his inventions were conceived before the technology that would permit them to be built, existed. In addition, Da Vinci designed many weapons of war, which was something Edison took great pride in having never done. All of Edison s inventions facilitated the production of consumable goods or the enjoyment of life. A patent is simply a license issued by a government that acknowledges an invention and protects the inventor from having others steal his/her original design/idea and produce it in order to make a profit from it. This is the financial benefit that accrues from an invention but there is another value that may be assigned to an inventor. That of course is the professional satisfaction that the inventor will feel when his work is acclaimed by his peers or in the case of popular inventions, fame of the public. The latter may be achieved by publishing the idea (or a description of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. The Wretched Of The Earth Political Resistance According to The Wretched of the Earth, violence becomes the only approach to help the colonized people to achieve self defined identity and national consciousness (Blecker, 2013). When the colonials commanded Hong Kong people to maintain where colonialism has assigned them, Hong Kong resisted instead of following the order. There were two symbolic movements that reflected Hong Kongers discontent with British and Chinese governments policies. The movement that conveyed Hong Kong people s discontent with the British colonial government is the Hong Kong Leftist riots in 1967. After the breakout of the Cultural Revolution in China, pro communist leftists in Hong Kong actively found opportunities to cause conflicts against the colonial government. The labor disputes at the Hong Kong Artificial Flower Factory were a perfect time to instigate Hong Kong people to oppose its colonial government. Along with the success of leftists demonstrations in Macau and Hong Kong s social conflicts stemmed from poor working conditions, the disputes developed into large scale demonstrations against British colonial rule. Many pro communist demonstrators shouted Mao s slogans with Little Red Books held in their hands. At the end of the demonstrations without the supports of Hong Kong citizens, the riots failed and were discontinued by the first Premier of the People s Republic of China, Zhou Enlai. Suspense and surprise in And Then There Were None Although every well written murder mystery does not have fixed mode because the writers of detective story always want to give their readers a unique feeling, suspense and surprise are essential and indispensable features in a well written murder mystery. (Alewyn 184) In Agatha Christie s And Then There Were None, she fully combines suspense and surprise, through the omniscient point of view and poignant plot. Therefore, And Then There Were None is a well written murder mystery. The omniscient point of view means a method of storytelling in which the narrator knows the thoughts and feelings of all of the characters in the story. (Abrams 233) Plot is the series of events that form the story of a novel, play, and film (Abrams 294). I will show the suspense and surprise through the analysis of the narrative, rising action, climax, and falling action as well as use specific textual evidence from this fiction novel to prove it. Capital punishment s validity in the legal system continues to be questioned but has been a huge part in human society and the legal system for centuries to restrain dangerous criminals and crimes. Later on, the death penalty as a punishment became a crime in itself, a crime against humanity thought by many, because killing, is killing no matter what. And it is wrong. To this day the argument continues. First of all, the death penalty seems somewhat barbaric and violates the cruel and unusual within the meaning of the eighth Amendment. This kind of punishment also sends the wrong message for what is trying to be accomplished: why kill people who kill people to show killing is wrong. Another kind of punishment for criminals is life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This method was affirmed by the Supreme Court as constitutional. Yes, this way may be much more humane but it still doesn t change the fact that the U.S is killing someone and taking a life away. Capital punishment violates the right to life, which is the most basic of human rights, undermining human dignity that is inherent to every single human being no matter what crime was committed. Death today is not how it was a long time ago. Do two wrongs make a right? A big argument dealing with capital punishment is that when someone kills another person, does that give you the right to kill that person. Yes murder is a serious crime, but how do we expect it to be looked down upon if it s what we are doing to our criminals. Is it really up to us? To kill a person who has killed is a continued cycle of violence. Expressing this doesn t make the crime go away, it contaminates the good and shows that you must fight back. Capital punishment feeds the cycle of violence in society by pandering to a lust for revenge. It brutalizes us and deadens our sensitivities to the precious nature of every single human life. Language In The Dark Knight In the film The Dark Knight, the director Christopher Nolan uses many language features to effectively highlight the contrast between good and evil, and that people have both good and evil within them. The language features character actions, camera work and characterisation, helped me see the contrast between good and evil, and how people have both good and evil within them, in the scene where Batman has knocked Bane to the ground and is viciously punching him. Nolan wants us to see that not even someone as righteously good as Batman, is perfectly good, they still have their evil flaws. Nolan uses the language features crosscutting, camera work, costume and symbolism to highlight the contrast between good and evil and that people have both good and evil within them in the flashback scene, where we see that, as a child, Miranda was saved by Bane from people who were attacking the people in the pit she was in, Bane included. After we, the audience, see this, the scene crosscuts to a scene of the present. Nolan uses a close up camera shot on Bane s face so that we see the tear that rolls down his cheek.
