Analysis Of The Book Wild Swans By Jung Chang Essay
Family loyalty in China has had a tumultuous past filled with fluctuation between remaining loyal
to the state, yet also remaining loyal to blood relatives. In the autobiography that also serves as a
biography, Wild Swans, by Jung Chang, this is seen. The book, which outlines the biographies of
the author s grandmother and mother, as well as her own autobiography, gives an interesting look
into the lives of the Chinese throughout the 20th century. This book is beyond eye opening, and is
truly a raw glimpse into the daily lives of women throughout China, struggling with situations that
no human should ever be thrown into. I loved this book and was truly scared about the world that
it opened me up to. The book does many things well, but also has its faults. The author consistently
and clearly exemplifies the social hierarchy that consumes China, as well as its obsession with
cultural stagnancy. The author also gives intense imagery that thrusts the reader into the scene, and
creates a new reality showcasing the truths of China. Although both of those things take main
stage in the book, there are a few weaknesses in the book. One, asking the question of how she
had such clear anecdotes on her grandmother and mother s life, how did she have such intimate
details? The second shortcoming that Jung Chang had a subjective view of China, partly being that
she loves China despite the cards it has dealt her. Her life was not short of hardships, but her family
was typically

Teen Pregnancy And Teenage Pregnancy
Teen pregnancy is something that affects over one million young teens in the United States. For
some, these pregnancies are planned but 85% of these teens the pregnancy is unplanned. This can
cause a lot of endless problems in the life of the teen and the newborn child. There are a lot of
things that can cause an unplanned teen pregnancy, such as teens experimenting with sexual
encounters at a young age. Another major cause is the lack of guidance due to guardians that are
blind or do not want to believe in such activities. These causes can have devastating effects on the
teen and the newborn in the household. Some effects of early pregnancy will include an
unexpected rise of responsibility for the teen and can cause many health concerns for both teen and
newborn child.
Teens experimenting are the leading cause in the unplanned pregnancies. As a teenager in high
school ages there are a lot of peer pressures. Such as experimenting with alcohol and unprotected
sexual intercourse. Drinking and the use of narcotics also largely have an impact on the judgment
of the teen before the pre pregnancy comes about. Experimenting can cause many effects on the
teen and the relationships at hand, including the relationships with the baby s mom or dad and also
the parents of the teens. Another way of experimenting is the pregnancy caused in the sequel of
either a long time dating of the boyfriend or the other case of those random one night stands or
hook ups. Experimenting can be well

Elaine Riots Essay
The Elaine Riots The Elaine Massacre was one of the most destructive racial dispute that had taken
place in Arkansas history and perhaps, the bloodiest racial rivalry in the history of the United
States. While its inmost origin lies in the United States dedication to white superiority, the events in
Elaine were emanated from strained raceaffiliates and expanding sympathy regarding the labor
unions. A firing incident that took place at a meeting of the Progressive Farmers and the Household
Union inflated into throng brutality on the part of the white peoplein Elaine and the nearby areas.
Despite, the perfect number is unidentified, a huge number of African Americans were killed by
the white s territory that was around hundreds; and five white people lost their lives. The strife
had taken place on the night of September 30, 1919, when nearly hundreds of African Americans,
essentially peasants on the plantations of white landlords, organized a meeting for the Progressive
Farmers and the Household Union of America at Hoop Spur, that was three miles north of Elaine.
The motive of the meeting was that the black peasants in the Elaine area for the past few months
were attaining better refund for their cotton crops from the white ranch owners who managed the
area during the Jim Crow era. Black peasants were often abused, ill treated in their attempts to
collect a pension for their cotton crops. During the past few months, a racial dispute had taken

The Industrial Revolution Of Philadelphia
INTRODUCTION: April 8, 2012 was the Sunday that Easter was celebrated that year. This date
will also be forever remembered as the day that Lieutenant Robert Neary and Firefighter Daniel
Sweeney lost their lives at the Thomas Buck Hosiery Factory fire in Philadelphia, PA. Since
William Penn first founded the city of Philadelphia in 1682, it has been an evolving and growing
city, from a 17th century colonial city to the capital of the United States during the American
Revolution. The industrial revolution of the 19th century transformed the green fields of lower
Kensington, a section of Philadelphia, to a mixture of homes and mills by 1875.... Show more

At 03:17 am, Engine 2 arrives on location and reports that he has heavy fire showing from the
first and second floors, and requests a full first alarm assignment. One minute later he reported
that he had fire all the way to the roof in a 6 story building, 60 x one city block. He then
requested a full second alarm assignment and notified the dispatch center to prepare for the
third alarm. Around 3:30 am, before most 2nd alarm companies arrived on the fireground. the
first of many collapses occurred. A large section of wall collapsed from the upper story on the
York Street side and crashed on to the street. By 4:01 am, this fire would grow to a five alarm
response. With the arrival of Engine 2 and other arriving companies, command was established,
and the fire scene was divided into four geographic divisions (A, B, C, D) to manage this defensive
fire. Command was passed from Engine 2 to the Battalion Commander, then to the Division
commander and lastly to the Deputy Commissioner. As the fire intensified, the command structure
grew to include an operations section, logistics, safety and an exposure group lead by a Battalion
Chief. For over two hours the approximately 45 apparatus and over 150 firefighters and paramedics
fought to contain the fire to the original complex and protect the surrounding neighborhood. The
weather that night brought 17 mph winds, with gusts over 30 mph. These winds, combined with
the heavy fire load

The Role Of Dance In Kurt Cohen s The Green Table Dance
Choreographers use the medium of movement (dance) to express a message to the audience. The
message can range from a story to social or political expression. One of the most famous
politically driven dances was The Green Table choreographed by Kurt Jooss through his company
Ballets Jooss in 1932. The background music was composed by Frederic Cohen. The Green Table
was an anti war dance choreographed in Germany, in a period between the great world wars.
This paper will explore the choreographer s point of view and the social or political message
expressed in the Green Table dance, analyze the political message and Laban effort elements in
the beginning of the second scene and finally, explore a personal narrative of a political
statement by the author. The role of the Green Table dance was to educate the viewers of the
cycle of war, show the audience events that occur during a war and showcase that Death is the
only winner during any war and gains satisfaction only by gaining more victims. Siegel describes
this idea as, . . . The only winner is Death, the impartial arbiter of all quarrels, who has no
favorites and plays to all the tunes. (16). Jooss idea of death was inspired by the dance macabre
that took place during the medieval times and hence the similarities in costumes between the two
characters. The Green Table begins with ten characters dressed in suits and grotesque looking
masks. These characters depict world leaders as the cause of the many wars in the world.

Isabel Briggs Personality
Personality tests serve as effective facilitators to learning about the features of an employee and
potential benefits and drawbacks that he or she may encounter at a given position. Legitimacy of
the social media which character are you? personality assessments is questionable, because they do
not provide credentials for their authors, statistical tools implemented, and no connection can be
traced between the types of questions and the results of the test. However, such tests as the one
based on the Carl Jung s and Isabel Briggs Myers typology suggest a profound background for
considering them valid. As such, after completing this type of personality test, I received the same
results as in the official Myers Briggs Personality assessment, which it was not. So, my personality
type is ISTJ, which interprets as Introverted Sensing Thinking Judging based on the available non

Therefore, I expected the results would be at least not greatly deviating from the ISTJ that I have
learned about myself. Being rather determined about rights and wrongs, I was often told that I
give the first impression of being aloof and perhaps somewhat cold (ISTJ, 2016). I agree with
many of the characteristics given in personality tests, but some portion of the information in such
assessments with explanation can be left to a chance. In this respect, I would not advise using
personality tests for hiring purposes, because a person considered creative and easygoing, such as
extraverted types, might appear too emotional and lacking the sense of hierarchy. Primarily, the test
can be used to facilitate further development of the team member in a new place and evaluate the
potential for assignment or promotion, using both self report personality inventories and projective
tests to ensure conscious and unconscious aspects of personality are

Type Talk
Type Talk: The 16 Personality Types That Determine How We Live, Love, and Work by Otto
Kroeger and Janet M. Thuesen Dell Publishing, October, 1989 Type Talk is a primer on
personality preference typing centered on the Myers Briggs Type Indicator ( MBTI ). The MBTI
is a widely used test that helps a person begin to understand why people perceive situations
differently, communicate different from others, and opt for different activities. The book s
authors, Otto Kroeger and Janet Thuesen, husband and wife, have long been in the forefront of
adapting the MBTI for use in everyday life and coined the phrase Typewatching as a descriptor for
their work. Kroeger and Thuesen open the book with a chapter on name calling . They... Show more

how we relate to the outer world В– either as a decision maker ( J ) or as an information gatherer (
P ) (pp. 32 38). After completing the introductory and explanatory material the authors take us to
practical applications of Typewatching В– in the workplace, and in interpersonal relationships such
as friendship, dating and commitment, and family life between parents and children. The chapter
on workplace Typewatching, titled Typewatching From 9 to 5 , is the lengthiest chapter and the
interest in workplace Typewatching no doubt influenced Kroeger and Thuesen to devote a second
book, Type Talk at Work, solely to Typewatching s influence on workplace dynamics. The authors
continue their discourse on Typewatching with a chapter titled Typewatching Everywhere . Here
they briefly discuss Typewatching in educational environments as practiced by teachers and
learners and move to Typewatching s applications in social settings, one s approach to personal
finance, weight gain or loss, humor, sports, religion, and politics. In the off chance the reader had

activities in the community would be to help raise money for a local local organization. This
could be done in many ways but, the important aspect is that the company is giving back to the
community in which it is a part. One final way that the Cheesecake Factory could engage in
socially responsive activities in the community would be to offer free meals to shelters for
specified holidays, such as Thanksgiving and Christmas. This is an excellent way of giving backto

5. What are the three primary methods for implementing security on this network, as well as the

depending on the type of WEP encryption being utilized. However it is generally not
recommended to use WEP especially when we re talking about networks that need more advanced
security. The biggest disadvantage found with WEP is really it s main weakness, a skilled hacker

Orchestra Concert Report Sample
On December 2nd, 2017, I attended a concert performed by the Diablo Valley College
Philharmonic Orchestra. The concert, performed at the Diablo Valley College Performing Arts
Center, was called A Classical British Invasion and it featured pieces that were either written by
British people or were inspired by them. Since I have only listened to professional orchestras for
previous concertreports, I decided to attend a college orchestra, hoping to see the differences
between a professional orchestra and a more casual one. The first piece performed in this concert
was Norfolk Scenic Overture composed by Kenneth Ian Hytch. The piece started loudly and
dramatically and it ended in a similar fashion. A quick rhythm carried on throughout the piece. The
piece was mostly polyphonic, with the woodwinds, the strings, and the brasses playing different
melodies. There were a lot of things that the orchestra can improve on. First of all, the orchestra was
rushing in several places dragging in other places. Another problem was the balance between
instruments. When the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

really excited to hear how the orchestra would express this piece. This piece only consists of
string instruments, and the violins played the melody while the rest of the orchestra played 8th
or 16th notes to accompany it through most of this piece. The tempo of this piece is slower than
the first one, and it has a intense and scary feel until the end, where it gets faster and louder.
There were a few noticeable problems in this piece. For example, the violins were rushing the
16th notes. The cellos had some intonation problems and so did the violins. The orchestra did not
end together, as a few people played the last note a bit too long. Nevertheless, the balance was
good and the crescendo was decent towards the end, which really brought out the intense feel of the

Common Sense Restructuring Of Public Services
The siting of the SSTP in London, Ontario offers an excellent case to examine the ways in which
Harris s common sense restructuring of public services, including the repeal of numerous land use
planning requirements and the authorization of waste disposal sites without public input, work
simultaneously to create new forms of white privilege and environmental racism in Southwestern
Ontario (Mascarenhas, 2012, p. 128). To meet the infrastructural needs of London s rapidly
growing population, London s Planning Department proposed to build the SSTP along its
southwest border. The plant is scheduled to be built by 2020 at a cost of approximately $80
million (DeBono, 2014). The story of the SSTP originated in 1996 when the City of London... Show

Consequently, the rezoning of the land, the deregulation of the waste industry, and the newly
created markets in unwanted land uses have all enabled the development of reverse NIMBYism,
where urban white residents can oppose having their unwanted land uses located near them
(Ollevier Tsang, 2007). Additionally, the restricting of public services has endorsed a narrow
market based solution to the growing waste problem in [Ontario], which sanctions the morality of
the marketplace over public dialogue and public safety (Mascarenhas, 2012, 130). For example, a
member of the Oneida First Nation illustrated that to the east we have the landfill, to the west we
have the potential sewage treatment plant, and the line of electromagnetic field towers
(Mascarenhas, 2010, p. 57). Therefore, the ethics of the marketplace has led to a more elusive
form of racial inequality, one where ideas of choice and freedom in the siting of waste industries
have taken precedence over environmental justice (Giroux, 2003; Jayasinghe et al., 2013).
In hoping to prevent the placement of the sewage treatment plant near their traditional territory, the
Oneida First Nation community approached the provincial government, the federal government

Retailers are highly selective as to the products they carry and consumers have many choices in
the candy isle. We find that emphasizing high sell through and attractive profit margins to the
trade and high quality at an attractive value to the consumer is a winning strategy. Our diverse
and highly recognizable brand portfolio remains popular across all trade channels. We have a
range of offerings suitable for virtually every major consumer group. Our product line undergoes
continual refinement in order to retain its appeal to ever evolving preferences and life styles.
The candy marketplace is highly competitive and we are vigilant in keeping our products
contemporary even as they remain iconic. Halloween has long been our largest selling period
with third quarter sales nearly double those of any other quarter in the year. We posted strong
results in all major trade classes including grocery, mass merchandisers, warehouse clubs, dollar
stores and drug chains. Especially popular at Halloween are our large bags of Child s Play and
other mixed candy assortments, which are offered in a variety of merchandising presentations. Our
bagged goods have traditionally been limited to lay down format that is commonly found on
retailer s shelves. In addition to lay down bags, in 2009 we introduced a number of packs in a
vertical format. These gusseted bags really

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Consuming Meat
1.0 Introduction
Meat is one of the main consumed food in the world in past decades when compared with other
types of food items. There are many advantages and disadvantages of consuming meat. The main
advantage is that it contains proteins, vitamin B6, B12 and several other growth factors which are
essential for the cell growth and immunity. The disadvantage is animals are injected with antibodies
and several hormones such as estrogen, testosterone to boost their growth. Hence, it causes cancer,
early puberty in girls. Therefore, the regular meat consumption is not recommended. As per
literature, meat considerably causes weight gain and lead to heart disease and cholesterol. Because
of the ethical issues and conditions mentioned above, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beef products are relatively higher than other meat items. As a result, vendors or companies tend
to mix expensive meat with low cost meat to increase the weight of the meat item and sold for
lower costs in the local market to attract the customers. Also to reduce the quality and to make the
appearance good, vendors tend to do fraud adulterations. Sometimes, as a result of poor
organization or cleaning up of the area and instruments which used to prepare processed meat, the
meat products may prone to contaminate. For example, the grinders that used to grind chicken may
not be changed to ground beef, pork or mutton. Hence the leftover minced chicken meat will be
blocked in the pipelines and it will push through only when the beef goes through the machine. This
may be done purposefully to economic perspective or unintentionally due to poor hygienic. In order
to prevent contamination, instruments have to be cleaned daily and if possible use separate
grinders for each meat type. The staff has to be trained well in an organization and hygiene.
Accordingly, the fraud meat adulterations can be minimized and thereby economical allegation and
safety risk will be reduced (Hui,

1940 s France Research Paper
When you think about France, what do you usually envision? Do you think of the center of
fashion and design, the rolling vineyards of Bordeaux, or maybe the smooth language of love?
Better yet do you think about a government formed with the Constitution that was in many ways

1940 s France was a powder keg teetering on the verge of chaos in a tumultuous world: led by a

Theory Of Reasoned Action
2.5.1Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA)
Theory of Reasoned Action is a model for prediction of behavioral intention spanning prediction of
attitudes and normative beliefs (Southey, 2011; Pai Huang, 2011). This theory has been used by
researchers for technology adoption studies (Southey, 2011). The theory has developed by Martin
Fishbein and Icek Ajzen (1975, 1980). Sadeghi and Farokhian (2011) stated, according to this
theory, attitudes towards the behavior and subjective norms influence individual s intent to adopt
an innovation. Following equation shows clearly the association of these two factors.
Behavioral intention = Attitude + Subjective norms
Subsequently, individual intention to perform the behavior determines person s behavior. Further it

Subsequently, individual s or group s behavior is determined by social pressure which comes under
three ways of belief of what others think, what experts think and motivation to comply with others.
Figure 2.3 gives a clear picture about the theory.
Figure 2.3 Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA) model
According to this theory, it implies that individual s behaviors are within a person s control and
their actual behavior is foreseen by their behavioral intention. Further, theory shows that two factors
of attitude towards the behavior and beliefs which are related to other people s assistance of
behavior determine the individual intention. However, theory does not give any evidence related to
people s culture and trust how affects the user behavior.
2.5.2Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB)
The Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) is a theory about the link between beliefs and behavior.
In 1985, the concept of TPB was proposed by Icek Ajzen to improve the predictive power of the
theory of reasoned action by including perceived behavioral controls (Pai Huang, 2011). Southey

Charlie Brown Satire
I know that many people around the world know the infamous Peanuts gang and of course the
lead character, Charlie Brown. The Peanuts was an American comic strip created by Charles M.
Schulz in the 1950 s. Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown! This is the title of one of many in a film
series based of his comics. The film was released in 1977 and still has relevance today. The Peanuts
not only have incredible satirical wit and humor, but are just great stories for the heart filled with
stories of a young boy and his dog.

Background Of The Arabian Nights
Background of The Arabian Nights The Islamic Golden Age Among several renown works of
the Islamic Golden Age is The Thousand and One Nights, which was consolidated between the
10th and the 14th centuries, and which later became a source of inspiration for not only many
writers, but also for the Arabian Theater. The Islamic Golden Age refers to the period when the
Muslim world was ruled by various caliphates, which came to an end in 1258 due to the Mongol
invasions and the sack of Baghdad. Nonetheless, this period is still known for its scientific
flourishing and cultural boom, and during this period, knowledge had become such a great priority

It is, in fact, a blend of Greek, Chinese, Indian, Turkish, Persian and Arab sources although
scholars agree that the frame story, of Shahrazad saving herself from execution by King
Shahriyar by recounting a series of entertaining stories and using cliffhangers each night, is
likely of Indian origin. The tales of The Thousand and One Nights are rooted in oral traditions,
and these tales were further popularized by various professional storytellers who would recite
them in coffeehouses, the main forums for interactions between people, all over the Middle East.
These tales contain three major strains: Indo Persian stories that were later adapted into Arabic,
stories composed in Baghdad, and stories composed in Egypt. It is said that the Arabian Nights
actually originates from an old Persian book called Hazar Afsana, or A Thousand Legends, which
was later translated into Arabic. The tales of Hazar Afsana were modified between the 10th and the
16th centuries, and they, in turn, gave us one of the most famous books in Classical Arabic
Literature, The Thousand and One Nights. This unusual title was known in the 12th century, and it
came to be not because there were a thousand and one stories, nor because Shahrazad continuously
told stories for a thousand and one nights, but merely because a thousand and one is used to signify
a large number close to infinity, and because in the Ancient East, time was counted in nights and
not in days. Moreover, it is said that this title most likely originated from the Turkish expression bin
bir which means a thousand and one, and is often used to indicate a large number or an

According to the introduction of LeCory and Hoschuh (2012), there are eight core themes that
emerge in first person accounts on their road to recovery, some of these themes coincide with
the personal accounts of the women who were coping with their BPD. The themes of recovery
that are most prominent in these cases are the reawakening of hope after despair, finding a
purpose and actively participating in life, while also moving past viewing themselves as their
psychiatric disorder. Once again, the theme of the journey to recovery is complex and nonlinear is
explored, as well as the theme of recovery is not accomplished alone, but with support and
partnerships in one s life. (LeCroy Hoschuh, 2012). The theme of reawakening of hope after despair

The Ethics Of Human Genetic Engineering
Imagine the possibility of eliminating serious genetic diseases from the world. Imagine the idea of
treating, preventing or even curing diseases that are yet to be cured. Imagine the feeling of being
given improved health and a prolonged lifespan. This can all be accomplished with the aide of
genetic engineering. Human genetic engineering refers to the process of directly manipulating
human DNAto produce wanted results. DNA is a simple but very complex chemical that has the
power to change the world and has begun to do so already. Many opponents to gene therapy fail to
realize that genetic engineering has great potential to become very important in the biomedical
industry. Though controversy exists regarding the ethics of human genetic engineering, it can
produce numerous benefits, which outweigh its disadvantages and side effects; therefore, scientists
should be able to manipulate the human genome for the purpose of helping people with serious
medical conditions.
Genetic engineering in general has started to come about in the last fifty years but the idea of using
GET (Genetic Engineering Technology) to manipulate human embryos has surfaced within the past
few years. Russell Powell, Assistant Professor of Philosophy, says that there is mounting evidence,
ranging from advances in medical genetics to the successful genetic modification of laboratory
animals, that humans will eventually be able to alter many of their biological characteristics

The Complex And Interesting Optical Properties
1. Introduction
The complex and interesting optical properties can be shown clearly on Nanostructured metals the
collective oscillations of the conduction electrons termed plasmons lead to most striking
phenomenon encountered in these structures are resonances . Plasmon modes exist in a number of
geometries and in various metals most importantly in noble metals such as gold, copper and silver.
Under certain circumstances plasmons are excited by light, which leads to strong light scattering
and absorption and an enhancement of the local electromagnetic field. In 1989, based upon
calculations, Neeves and Birnboim proposed that a composite spherical particle with a dielectric
core and a metallic shell could produce SPR modes with a much ... Show more content on

The interest in plasmon modes dates back to the beginning of the 20th century, but recent advances
in structuring, manipulating and observing on the nanometer scale have revitalized this field even
though these technological advances were at first driven by the increasing demand for a
semiconductor based integrated electronic components, optical applications are now receiving
increasing attention. Guiding light in an integrated optical system and interfacing with electronic
components remain important challenges for research and development today. Nanostructures
metals are believed to be one of the key ingredients of such future optoelectronic devices.
1.1 Plasma
Plasma is a distinct phase of matter, separate from the traditional solids, liquids, and gases. It is a
collection of charged particles that respond strongly and collectively to electromagnetic fields,
taking the form of gas like clouds or ion beams. Since the particles in plasma are electrically
charged (generally by being stripped of electrons), it is frequently described as an ionized gas. [1]
so that the electrons and ions are separately free. When does this ionization occur? When the
temperature is hot enough.

Virginia became fascinated with Vita s family history. Vita s family could be traced back to
William the Conqueror. Vita s ancestry and her own life style differed greatly from Virginia s.
Vita was dramatic, exciting and thrilling; Virginia, mousy, quiet, intellectual. This difference
between their personalities and family history captivated Virginia. Part of the attraction was the
story Vita had to tell. Virginia fell on it, dramatised and exaggerated it, long before she wrote
Orlando (Lee 481). The family house, central in Orlando, was Vita s great love. Because she was

Therefore Orlando returns to England a woman and discovers a lawsuit against her. The chief

ASIC V Citigroup Case

ASIC v Citigroup case was one of the biggest investment banking case of the year where the

case fiduciary duties were affirmed upon the legal bases the investment banks and the effectiveness
of the Chinese walls as a mean of dealing with potential conflicts (Ritchie 2008, p.1). Chinese walls

than separation within an organization, in this case of investment banking the Chinese walls may
separate a person who possess information to make investment decision to those who make
investment decisions which could influence those decisions (Tesarsch 2007, p.632).
Upon further analysis the case was deemed premature due to unqualified win for the investment
bank. Most of ASIC s claims collapsed which saved Citigroup, where the court s found out that
there was no fiduciary relationship between both parties. Citigroup is a large firm which has

so anxious to get back at, or strike at, in the Pacific. United States of America wanted revenge of
the Japanese for the Pearl Harbor bombing. In April 1943 sixteen bombers under command of
Lieutenant Colonel James H. Doolittle bombed Tokyo and several other Japanese cities. The
bombs didn t do so much damage just a little. Raid made an important movement psychological
point to both Japanese and us Americans, but Japan was vulnerable when it came to attack.
Doolittle s little raid on the Japanese raised Americans morale, shook confidence of some in
Japan, as the Japanese citizens said. We started to doubt that we were invincible Some of the
Japanese worried that their defeat and controlling a vast empire caused them to spread their
resources so very thin. The allies began to turn tides of war slowly. May 1942, an American fleet

Disco as a genre is definitely not for everyone it s a rather love or hate thing. Same goes for the
Disco Slot theme you can either enjoy the slightly silly and cute disco dances, mirror balls and
dance floor background with the typical disco tunes, or find it a bit too ridiculous. We think it s
kind of sweet, entertaining and groovy, but we ll leave it up to you to decide whether you like it or
not.

To be honest we really enjoyed the playing this funky and charming slot, especially considering
the rare and very uncommon Dance Floor Wild feature with changing colour tiles. The jackpot is

Importance Of Graphic Design
The career that I am researching is graphic design. A graphic designer helps to make an
organization recognizable by using a variety of mediums to communicate a particular idea or
identity to be used in advertising and promotions. Some examples of things that graphic designers
create/do are; colours, fonts, animations, photography, print designs, logos, images, pictures, and
billboards. They use a variety of design elements to help an advertisement, brochure, magazine, or
corporate report be artistically appealing and stand out. They also collaborate closely with other
graphic designers, writers, programmers, artists, or other creative people in order for their projects
to be as appealing as possible. Graphic designis important to society because it gives organizations
and companies a face. It allows the consumer to have feelings about a product just by looking at
it. The importance of graphic design is only increasing because with the growing reach of
technology, it is extremely important for a company to be noticed. A typical day working as a
graphic designer involves meetings, creating your project, revising your project, and presentations.
Graphic design is not a physically strenuous job and is a job that people of all body types can do.
Many personal traits are required for a person to be a successful graphic designer. Some of these
traits are; artistic skills, creativity, strong verbal, visual, and written communication skills, ability to
work independently and

Voltaire, Denis Diderot, And Jean-Jacques Rousseau
The Enlightenment was a period of mass introduction of new ideas, high in intellect, for the
purpose of social growth. People s views on issues were greatly influenced by the philosophes of
that time. People started believing that all men were equal, and thus deserved equal treatment.
Some of the philosophes who greatly influenced this period were Voltaire, Denis Diderot, and Jean
Jacques Rousseau. These men were critical thinkers who analyzed how society was run, and
proposed better ways in which the world could operate. Though these men were high on intellect,
they had similar world changing views, and all believed that man was free and this freedom should
not be taken away. They still had some ideas that differed, but never diminished their... Show more

Though questioning the authority at this time was deemed forbidden, he still argued against
authority and status quo. He said No man has received from nature the right to command his
fellow human beings. His propositions exploited principles such as freedom of press, trade,
toleration, reason, and education. His ideas were revolutionary. For example, he made some
very famous quotes like: Power acquired by violence is only usurpation, and lasts only as long
as the force of him who commands prevails over that of those who obey, and Man will never be
free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest. Diderot rose up against the
doctrine that stated the right of a prince to hold power over others because it was God s will. His
lifework, the Encyclopedia was a powerful weapon against ecclesiastical and governmental
institutions. He urged people to liberate themselves through reason. His views were in line with
those of Rousseau and Voltaire, only that he was extremely humanitarian and expressed support for
social and political reforms. In all his dealings, he placed knowledge above the dogmas of the
church, thus concurring with Voltaire and Rousseau on the note of

Receptor Cell Essay
THE RETINA: RECEPTOR CELLS
The receptor cells are the RODS and CONES. Each consists of: * A process consisting of outer
and inner segments. * An external fiber connecting the process with the soma. * A soma or body
containing the nucleus. * An inner fiber that resembles an axon and synapses with a bipolar cell.
Rods are extremely sensitive to light and can react to a single photon. The light is absorbed by the
pigment rhodopsin and the energy acquired results in decrease in cGMP which in turn causes the
closing of Na+ channels. This hyperpolarizes the cell causing a release of synaptic vesicles.

The Meyer s loop fibers carry information from the lower retina, and thus from the upper part of
the visual field to the lower bank of the calcarine fissure.
THE VISUAL CORTEX
The information received by the primary visual cortex is illlustrated in A below: It is inverted and
reversed, and the center has high resolution which becomes progressively worse toward the
periphery. In addition, there are fewer cones at the periphery, so the image contains less color at the
periphery.
The visual cortex reconstructs the image with constant color and resolution.
INFLAMMATION OF THE OPTIC NERVE
Because nearly ВЅ of the fibers in the optic nerve are from the fovea, inflammation of the nerve
will affect color perception and resolution in the central vision in the ipsilateral eye.
LESION OF THE OPTIC NERVE
A lesion that destroys the optic nerve will destroy all input from that retina, leading to monocular
visual loss (blindness in that eye).
LESION OF THE OPTIC CHIASM
A lesion of the optic chiasm will destroy the fibers from the medial halves of both retinas where
they cross. Remember that the medial half of the retina receives the image from the lateral half of
the visual field. Thus a lesion of the optic chiasm will result in loss of the lateral halves of the
visual fields, sometimes called tunnel vision (bitemporal hemianopia).

So Mexicans Are Taking Jobs From Americans Summary
There is many controversy about how many mexicans are taking away white people jobs. In the
poem So Mexicans are Taking Jobs from Americans the persona is explaining the idea on how
americans are making mexicans look bad as if they are doing crimes for simply trying to find a
stable job to provide a home and food for their families. They come with the hopes for a better
future for themselves and for their children not to be treated inhumanely. I argue that they are
not stealing the jobs from americans but are only looking for a better way of live for them and
their families. Mexicans only take the jobs that the americans don t want and that is underpaid
basically anything that ll help them live day by day. Some Mexicans come to America to escape
the harsh living back in their home country. Although, Americans have a reason to be angry
about mexicans coming into their country it shouldn t be a reason to make the Mexican people
look bad. In the poem it says I hear Mexicans are taking your jobs away. Do they sneak into town
at night, and as you re walking home with a whore, do they mug you, a knife at your throat,
saying, I want your job? . This gives us the idea that the American people are portraying us as
criminals as if they go into their town and threaten them for their jobs. Moreover, mexicans only
want anything that ll help their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

History 1302
God Blessed America?
On October 29, 1929, also known as Black Tuesday , was a day in history no one will ever forget. It
was the day the stock market crashed.
Folk singer Woody Guthrie experienced the great depression first hand. His family went from
middle class to dire poverty in the 1920 s and 1930 s. He wrote this song after traveling the world
and witnessing the awful effects of the Great Depression. Originally called God Bless America this
song was a response to Irving Berlin s song also called God Bless America , he believed that this
song was unrealistic and smug. The tone of this song one could say is very sarcastic, because if
god really did bless America things like the great depression would not be happening. For
example, at the end of his song when he, saw my people, As they stood hungry, I stood there
wondering if [God blessed America for me.] ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Liberty, Eric Foner explains, In Detroit, 4,000 children stood in bread lines each day seeking
food. If starving was not bad enough, most people were evicted from their homes. They were
forced to live in ramshackle shantytowns, also called Hoovervilles (after President Hoover), which

China Is The Most Overpopulated Country
As the years progress, one question continues to arise, how does one continue to house millions
upon millions of individuals? China is the most overpopulated country in the world, inhabiting the
9.6 million km of land would be more than 1.35 billion individuals. These over populous regions
have led to a decrease of land and recourses, poor living conditions, and an increase in pollution. In
order for the country to grow and prosper, serious changes must be implemented. Alternative
housing is one of the greatest challenges the country is facing. Houses are built so closely
together now that disease and infections are spreading at a rapid pace. The poor resources
acquired to build these houses are one of the leading factors of pollution. It is essential for the
country as a whole to turn to these more economical and ecofriendly materials in order to make a
positive spin on the state of which China is currently in.
The rapid economic growth in China has led to the destruction of forests, the pollution of water,
and the continuous pollution of the air. With the dramatic increase in the population, building
production to house the citizens must increase as well at a startling pace as the land fields
decrease in order to make space. A decline in land leads to a lack of resources, putting the country
into a state of panic. A surge in building production leads to an increase in carbon foot printing,
adding to the massive amount of pollution in the environment already. Alternative

Understand The Effect Of Solar Plasma On Earth s...
2nd P: To understand the effects of solar plasma on Earth s magnetosphere, one must look at the
creation of plasma in the early days of the sun. The sun s creation is similar to the process in the
explosion of a hydrogen bomb, only with the energy created equaling the force of 10 billion
hydrogen bombs per second. When the sunwas originally forming, hydrogen gas in the middle was
crushed from weight above. Eventually, the pressures and temperatures reached such an intense
point to where the hydrogen atoms broke apart into electrons and photons, thus, creating plasma.
Photons from the explosion of electrons and protons are made so fast and so many at a time that it
creates the observed power of the sun. This reaches us as sunlight. Even though the process of the
energy created is relatively quick, the process in which the photons travel to Earthhappens over a
long time within the Sun s layers. The energy of sunlight that shines down on us today is over

The overall movement and rotation of the sun effect the magnetic fields in the sun. This
movement churns up plasma in the convection zone*, which in turn stirs up electrical currents,
and finally creates a magnetic field. Within these magnetic fields exists field lines, the main
component of the solar flares. Loops in the magnetic field lines rise with energy from the
surface. On one end of the loop exists a positive while the other end is negative. Plasma
underneath stirs the poles and pumps numerous amounts of energy into them. However, if the
poles are twisted enough the loops cross which creates a short circuit resulting in a tremendous
outward explosion. The result is a solar flare. Within these solar flares, nets of plasma are flung
into space and can be described as coronal mass ejections (solar storms). These CMEs flung into
the solar system are what can wreak havoc on the

  • 2. Analysis Of The Book Wild Swans By Jung Chang Essay Family loyalty in China has had a tumultuous past filled with fluctuation between remaining loyal to the state, yet also remaining loyal to blood relatives. In the autobiography that also serves as a biography, Wild Swans, by Jung Chang, this is seen. The book, which outlines the biographies of the author s grandmother and mother, as well as her own autobiography, gives an interesting look into the lives of the Chinese throughout the 20th century. This book is beyond eye opening, and is truly a raw glimpse into the daily lives of women throughout China, struggling with situations that no human should ever be thrown into. I loved this book and was truly scared about the world that it opened me up to. The book does many things well, but also has its faults. The author consistently and clearly exemplifies the social hierarchy that consumes China, as well as its obsession with cultural stagnancy. The author also gives intense imagery that thrusts the reader into the scene, and creates a new reality showcasing the truths of China. Although both of those things take main stage in the book, there are a few weaknesses in the book. One, asking the question of how she had such clear anecdotes on her grandmother and mother s life, how did she have such intimate details? The second shortcoming that Jung Chang had a subjective view of China, partly being that she loves China despite the cards it has dealt her. Her life was not short of hardships, but her family was typically ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Teen Pregnancy And Teenage Pregnancy Teen pregnancy is something that affects over one million young teens in the United States. For some, these pregnancies are planned but 85% of these teens the pregnancy is unplanned. This can cause a lot of endless problems in the life of the teen and the newborn child. There are a lot of things that can cause an unplanned teen pregnancy, such as teens experimenting with sexual encounters at a young age. Another major cause is the lack of guidance due to guardians that are blind or do not want to believe in such activities. These causes can have devastating effects on the teen and the newborn in the household. Some effects of early pregnancy will include an unexpected rise of responsibility for the teen and can cause many health concerns for both teen and newborn child. Teens experimenting are the leading cause in the unplanned pregnancies. As a teenager in high school ages there are a lot of peer pressures. Such as experimenting with alcohol and unprotected sexual intercourse. Drinking and the use of narcotics also largely have an impact on the judgment of the teen before the pre pregnancy comes about. Experimenting can cause many effects on the teen and the relationships at hand, including the relationships with the baby s mom or dad and also the parents of the teens. Another way of experimenting is the pregnancy caused in the sequel of either a long time dating of the boyfriend or the other case of those random one night stands or hook ups. Experimenting can be well ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Elaine Riots Essay The Elaine Riots The Elaine Massacre was one of the most destructive racial dispute that had taken place in Arkansas history and perhaps, the bloodiest racial rivalry in the history of the United States. While its inmost origin lies in the United States dedication to white superiority, the events in Elaine were emanated from strained raceaffiliates and expanding sympathy regarding the labor unions. A firing incident that took place at a meeting of the Progressive Farmers and the Household Union inflated into throng brutality on the part of the white peoplein Elaine and the nearby areas. Despite, the perfect number is unidentified, a huge number of African Americans were killed by the white s territory that was around hundreds; and five white people lost their lives. The strife had taken place on the night of September 30, 1919, when nearly hundreds of African Americans, essentially peasants on the plantations of white landlords, organized a meeting for the Progressive Farmers and the Household Union of America at Hoop Spur, that was three miles north of Elaine. The motive of the meeting was that the black peasants in the Elaine area for the past few months were attaining better refund for their cotton crops from the white ranch owners who managed the area during the Jim Crow era. Black peasants were often abused, ill treated in their attempts to collect a pension for their cotton crops. During the past few months, a racial dispute had taken place in ... • 5. The Industrial Revolution Of Philadelphia INTRODUCTION: April 8, 2012 was the Sunday that Easter was celebrated that year. This date will also be forever remembered as the day that Lieutenant Robert Neary and Firefighter Daniel Sweeney lost their lives at the Thomas Buck Hosiery Factory fire in Philadelphia, PA. Since William Penn first founded the city of Philadelphia in 1682, it has been an evolving and growing city, from a 17th century colonial city to the capital of the United States during the American Revolution. The industrial revolution of the 19th century transformed the green fields of lower Kensington, a section of Philadelphia, to a mixture of homes and mills by 1875.... At 03:17 am, Engine 2 arrives on location and reports that he has heavy fire showing from the first and second floors, and requests a full first alarm assignment. One minute later he reported that he had fire all the way to the roof in a 6 story building, 60 x one city block. He then requested a full second alarm assignment and notified the dispatch center to prepare for the third alarm. Around 3:30 am, before most 2nd alarm companies arrived on the fireground. the first of many collapses occurred. A large section of wall collapsed from the upper story on the York Street side and crashed on to the street. By 4:01 am, this fire would grow to a five alarm response. With the arrival of Engine 2 and other arriving companies, command was established, and the fire scene was divided into four geographic divisions (A, B, C, D) to manage this defensive fire. Command was passed from Engine 2 to the Battalion Commander, then to the Division commander and lastly to the Deputy Commissioner. As the fire intensified, the command structure grew to include an operations section, logistics, safety and an exposure group lead by a Battalion Chief. For over two hours the approximately 45 apparatus and over 150 firefighters and paramedics fought to contain the fire to the original complex and protect the surrounding neighborhood. The weather that night brought 17 mph winds, with gusts over 30 mph. These winds, combined with the heavy fire load ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Role Of Dance In Kurt Cohen s The Green Table Dance Choreographers use the medium of movement (dance) to express a message to the audience. The message can range from a story to social or political expression. One of the most famous politically driven dances was The Green Table choreographed by Kurt Jooss through his company Ballets Jooss in 1932. The background music was composed by Frederic Cohen. The Green Table was an anti war dance choreographed in Germany, in a period between the great world wars. This paper will explore the choreographer s point of view and the social or political message expressed in the Green Table dance, analyze the political message and Laban effort elements in the beginning of the second scene and finally, explore a personal narrative of a political statement by the author. The role of the Green Table dance was to educate the viewers of the cycle of war, show the audience events that occur during a war and showcase that Death is the only winner during any war and gains satisfaction only by gaining more victims. Siegel describes this idea as, . . . The only winner is Death, the impartial arbiter of all quarrels, who has no favorites and plays to all the tunes. (16). Jooss idea of death was inspired by the dance macabre that took place during the medieval times and hence the similarities in costumes between the two characters. The Green Table begins with ten characters dressed in suits and grotesque looking masks. These characters depict world leaders as the cause of the many wars in the world. ... • 7. Isabel Briggs Personality Personality tests serve as effective facilitators to learning about the features of an employee and potential benefits and drawbacks that he or she may encounter at a given position. Legitimacy of the social media which character are you? personality assessments is questionable, because they do not provide credentials for their authors, statistical tools implemented, and no connection can be traced between the types of questions and the results of the test. However, such tests as the one based on the Carl Jung s and Isabel Briggs Myers typology suggest a profound background for considering them valid. Being rather determined about rights and wrongs, I was often told that I give the first impression of being aloof and perhaps somewhat cold (ISTJ, 2016). I agree with many of the characteristics given in personality tests, but some portion of the information in such assessments with explanation can be left to a chance. In this respect, I would not advise using personality tests for hiring purposes, because a person considered creative and easygoing, such as extraverted types, might appear too emotional and lacking the sense of hierarchy. Primarily, the test can be used to facilitate further development of the team member in a new place and evaluate the potential for assignment or promotion, using both self report personality inventories and projective tests to ensure conscious and unconscious aspects of personality are ... Thuesen Dell Publishing, October, 1989 Type Talk is a primer on personality preference typing centered on the Myers Briggs Type Indicator ( MBTI ). The MBTI is a widely used test that helps a person begin to understand why people perceive situations differently, communicate different from others, and opt for different activities. The book s authors, Otto Kroeger and Janet Thuesen, husband and wife, have long been in the forefront of adapting the MBTI for use in everyday life and coined the phrase Typewatching as a descriptor for their work. After completing the introductory and explanatory material the authors take us to practical applications of Typewatching В– in the workplace, and in interpersonal relationships such as friendship, dating and commitment, and family life between parents and children. The chapter on workplace Typewatching, titled Typewatching From 9 to 5 , is the lengthiest chapter and the interest in workplace Typewatching no doubt influenced Kroeger and Thuesen to devote a second book, Type Talk at Work, solely to Typewatching s influence on workplace dynamics. The authors continue their discourse on Typewatching with a chapter titled Typewatching Everywhere . Here they briefly discuss Typewatching in educational environments as practiced by teachers and learners and move to Typewatching s applications in social settings, one s approach to personal finance, weight gain or loss, humor, sports, religion, and politics. What are the three primary methods for implementing security on this network, as well as the advantages and disadvantages each? WEP is an older security protocol for wireless networks that encrypts transmitted data. WEP uses a security code chosen during configuration called a WEP key, which uses a sequence of hexadecimal digits. WEP keys can be formed in different lengths depending on the type of WEP encryption being utilized. However it is generally not recommended to use WEP especially when we re talking about networks that need more advanced security. The biggest disadvantage found with WEP is really it s main weakness, a skilled hacker could actually crack the security key within a matter of minutes using special software. The concert, performed at the Diablo Valley College Performing Arts Center, was called A Classical British Invasion and it featured pieces that were either written by British people or were inspired by them. Since I have only listened to professional orchestras for previous concertreports, I decided to attend a college orchestra, hoping to see the differences between a professional orchestra and a more casual one. The first piece performed in this concert was Norfolk Scenic Overture composed by Kenneth Ian Hytch. The piece started loudly and dramatically and it ended in a similar fashion. A quick rhythm carried on throughout the piece. The piece was mostly polyphonic, with the woodwinds, the strings, and the brasses playing different melodies. The tempo of this piece is slower than the first one, and it has a intense and scary feel until the end, where it gets faster and louder. There were a few noticeable problems in this piece. For example, the violins were rushing the 16th notes. The cellos had some intonation problems and so did the violins. The orchestra did not end together, as a few people played the last note a bit too long. • 20. Common Sense Restructuring Of Public Services The siting of the SSTP in London, Ontario offers an excellent case to examine the ways in which Harris s common sense restructuring of public services, including the repeal of numerous land use planning requirements and the authorization of waste disposal sites without public input, work simultaneously to create new forms of white privilege and environmental racism in Southwestern Ontario (Mascarenhas, 2012, p. 128). To meet the infrastructural needs of London s rapidly growing population, London s Planning Department proposed to build the SSTP along its southwest border. The plant is scheduled to be built by 2020 at a cost of approximately $80 million (DeBono, 2014). The story of the SSTP originated in 1996 when the City of London... Consequently, the rezoning of the land, the deregulation of the waste industry, and the newly created markets in unwanted land uses have all enabled the development of reverse NIMBYism, where urban white residents can oppose having their unwanted land uses located near them (Ollevier Tsang, 2007). Additionally, the restricting of public services has endorsed a narrow market based solution to the growing waste problem in [Ontario], which sanctions the morality of the marketplace over public dialogue and public safety (Mascarenhas, 2012, 130). For example, a member of the Oneida First Nation illustrated that to the east we have the landfill, to the west we have the potential sewage treatment plant, and the line of electromagnetic field towers (Mascarenhas, 2010, p. 57). Therefore, the ethics of the marketplace has led to a more elusive form of racial inequality, one where ideas of choice and freedom in the siting of waste industries have taken precedence over environmental justice (Giroux, 2003; Jayasinghe et al., 2013). The disadvantage is animals are injected with antibodies and several hormones such as estrogen, testosterone to boost their growth. Hence, it causes cancer, early puberty in girls. The tales of The Thousand and One Nights are rooted in oral traditions, and these tales were further popularized by various professional storytellers who would recite them in coffeehouses, the main forums for interactions between people, all over the Middle East. These tales contain three major strains: Indo Persian stories that were later adapted into Arabic, stories composed in Baghdad, and stories composed in Egypt. It is said that the Arabian Nights actually originates from an old Persian book called Hazar Afsana, or A Thousand Legends, which was later translated into Arabic. The tales of Hazar Afsana were modified between the 10th and the 16th centuries, and they, in turn, gave us one of the most famous books in Classical Arabic Literature, The Thousand and One Nights. This unusual title was known in the 12th century, and it came to be not because there were a thousand and one stories, nor because Shahrazad continuously told stories for a thousand and one nights, but merely because a thousand and one is used to signify a large number close to infinity, and because in the Ancient East, time was counted in nights and not in days. Virginia Woolf s Orlando and the Relationship between Virginia and Vita It has been said the novel Orlando is the longest love letter ever written; a celebration of the bond between women. The relationship between Virginia Woolf and Vita Sackville West is well documented and known to have been intimate. That Virginia was passionate and giddy about her relationship with Vita is also known and displayed in Orlando. But Orlando also offers a rare intimate glimpse into the mind of Virginia Woolf. An unselfconscious work, it reveals her mind, talent at play. Orlando offers rich insights into her mind while keeping the rich prose that embodies her other great works. In fact, for Vita s parent s extra marital affairs was the norm. From this influence, Vita based her actions; a reason that caused Virginia much pain later in their relationship. Virginia became fascinated with Vita s family history. Vita s family could be traced back to William the Conqueror. Vita s ancestry and her own life style differed greatly from Virginia s. Vita was dramatic, exciting and thrilling; Virginia, mousy, quiet, intellectual. This difference between their personalities and family history captivated Virginia. Part of the attraction was the story Vita had to tell. Virginia fell on it, dramatised and exaggerated it, long before she wrote Orlando (Lee 481). The family house, central in Orlando, was Vita s great love. Because she was a woman, she was prevented from inheriting the house. Virginia always associated Vita with her house and ancestry; it was as much the inspiration for Orlando as Vita herself (Lee 481). Therefore Orlando returns to England a woman and discovers a lawsuit against her. The chief charges against her were (1) that she was dead, and therefore could not hold any property whatsoever; (2) that she was a woman, which amounts to much the same thing... (Orlando 168). These over populous regions have led to a decrease of land and recourses, poor living conditions, and an increase in pollution. In order for the country to grow and prosper, serious changes must be implemented. Alternative housing is one of the greatest challenges the country is facing. Understand The Effect Of Solar Plasma On Earth s... 2nd P: To understand the effects of solar plasma on Earth s magnetosphere, one must look at the creation of plasma in the early days of the sun. The sun s creation is similar to the process in the explosion of a hydrogen bomb, only with the energy created equaling the force of 10 billion hydrogen bombs per second. When the sunwas originally forming, hydrogen gas in the middle was crushed from weight above. Eventually, the pressures and temperatures reached such an intense point to where the hydrogen atoms broke apart into electrons and photons, thus, creating plasma. Photons from the explosion of electrons and protons are made so fast and so many at a time that it creates the observed power of the sun. This reaches us as sunlight. Even though the process of the energy created is relatively quick, the process in which the photons travel to Earthhappens over a long time within the Sun s layers. On one end of the loop exists a positive while the other end is negative. Plasma underneath stirs the poles and pumps numerous amounts of energy into them. However, if the poles are twisted enough the loops cross which creates a short circuit resulting in a tremendous outward explosion. The result is a solar flare.
