The Giving Tree By Shel Silverstein Meaning
The Giving Tree is a sentimental poem by Shel Silverstein. The main lesson of this poem revolves
around absolute selflessness, it s evident. However, despite this essential, meaningful teaching, there
are other underlying themes that are just as influential, if not more. These other lessons, perhaps, are
vital to a happy life. The Giving Tree preaches around ideas like: going barefoot, just being there for
someone, and that happiness is a place between too much and too little. The relevancy of these life
lessons are indescribable.
Firstly, going barefoot might be the way to walk. The meaning of this short phrase conveys that the
stress free life of a naive child running barefoot in the yard is something taken for granted. People are
too busy pushing kids into their future that they forget, sometimes childhood is what they should be
revisiting. The hardships of life is something only people with a certain maturity can fully effect. Once
there was a tree....and she loved a little boy. And everyday the boy would come and he would gather
her leaves and make them into crowns and play king of the forest. He would climb up her trunk and
swing from her branches and eat apples. And they would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What this quote conveys is that having too little is an evident struggle, financially, support, a home, a
loss is a loss. It s an emptiness that has yet to be filled. It is a place where genuine happiness has a
hard time taking place. However, throughout the poem, throughout the boy s life, he keeps coming
back to the tree asking for things. He picked her apples to receive money. He took her branches to
build himself a house. He cut her down to use her trunk to make himself a boat. He had all these
wonderful things expecting happiness as a result, but still came back to her. Utter happiness is a great
pair with contemptment. Not too much, but not too little. It took the boy years to realize this, until he

God Is A Contractual Relationship Between God And God
A covenant is a contractual relationship between two parties, usually a king and his followers. The
covenant relationship between God and the people of Israel is strong. God makes covenants with
Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For these covenants to be strong there needs to be loyalty and faithfulness
on both sides. The Mishnah emphasizes this relationship in many of the texts, this relationship is most
emphasized in the sections of prayer and festivals. The section of prayers is called zera im or seeds, it
literally means the availability of agricultural products in Israel. This connects to prayer because in
order for the land to be rich of agricultural products by God, the people of Israel need to pray and
show gratitude to God. In the chapter the Life of the Torah , there is a section about the daily life of
the Jew and much of the day consists of prayer. There are very specific times for prayer and recitation
of the Shema and Tefillah. The Mishnah requires Jews pray before and after meals. The sages have
many rules for blessing over food, there are different prayers for different types of food. They sages
also require that the Jews say grace after meals, this prayer requires more components than prayers
before meals. They thank him for the land, ask him to rebuild the temple, sustain his people, bless the
host and hostess, and send peace to all of Israel. In the first section in Grace After Meals: Thanking
God the Provider , the leader says For he is God who sustains all, doest good to all, and provides food
for all creatures he has created. Blessed art thou, O Lord, who dost sustain all (696). These prayers are
important to Jews because this shows that they are faithful to God and appreciate his work for them.
The covenant here is if they stay faithful and gratuitous to God then God will rebuild Jerusalem, create
peace for all of Israel and provide them with land and agriculture. Overall, the Rabbi s do not disagree
on this topic. They all believe as long as they recite the benedictions at the right times and for the right
things, then the covenant between God and the people of Israel will remain strong. Also, the section in
Mishnah about the different festivals and celebrations highlight the covenant

Maid Of Honor
After attending the Grammys with pal Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift proved once again that she is a
good friend as she joins the wedding of her best friend, Britany Maack as the maid of honor.
The Blank Space singer went home to her native Berks County to serve as maid of honor for her
lifelong friend s wedding, whom she met when she was still a kid. Maack married Benjamin LaManna
at the chapel of the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters that was followed by a reception at Berkshire
Country Club, Bern Township.
The bride and her BFF superstar are donning gowns designed by Reem Acra. Swift was wearing a
light blush color long gown which appears as a perfect complement to the white lace bodice wedding
dress of Maack, Vogue reported.
The designer is their choice because she was their favorite. The two visited Acra s NYC showroom to
see their gowns over the summer which was defined by the award winning singer as the the ... Show

Back in 2015, Maack requested Swift to be the maid of honor for her wedding through a letter with
their framed photo wearing costumes as little girls. Said image was shared by the Bad Blood singer on
her Instagram account.
I ve never been a maid of honor before, Swift told People magazine back in May. This is my first time,
and it s really, really important to me because this is my best friend, who I ve known since I was born.
And she s marrying someone I ve known since I was 4.
Maack and Swift had been friends all their life especially because of the friendship of their families.
Taylor s family was my family, Maack said according to Reading Eagle. In the summer our parents
would go to the beach, and I always remember going to her house in Stone Harbor (N.J.). Her parents
would take us on boat and Jet Ski rides, and we would play all day long in that bayside

The Phantom Of The Opera
Phantom of the Opera has been around for longer than I can recall, being the musical to talk about
among my family as something grand. When I was the age of only fourteen I received the honor of
performing the musical for the first time, although I had to learn a great deal about the script for that
performance, the history behind The Phantom of the Opera is not clear to me. So I started my research
their tied to the original piece. Phantom of the opera.com gave a timeline that had the background,
explaining that the original piece was published in 1911 by Gaston Leroux. (Timeline) The author was
inspired by a trip to the Paris opera house, explaining that below the Paris opera house is a lake, and
that he recalled an accident in which the chandelier had fallen some years earlier. (Hall, P.16) Sparking
Gaston Leroux to make the book. The book from this point was given to the hands of a movie
producer making a silent film in November 1925. (The Phantom of the Opera (1925)) The film after
its first round was then re done two more times, one of which was not a success. Andrew Lloyd
Webber in May of 1984 hears about the theatre royals stage performance and then comes up with the
ideal to turn the book/ play at this time into a musical. The musical took several awards and made
countless new fans, finally being turned into a film by Warner Brothers Dec, 22 2004, showing the
same amount of success as the musical show. (The Phantom of the Opera, (2004) The musical

Born in 1960 Kimberly Renae McCoy grew up in country side of Vian Oklahoma. Her parents, Billie

could give their only daughter. The second of four babies her hardworking mother bore, only Kim and

Morgan David, died of pneumonia when he was a few months old. After the deaths of the babies,
Billie went into a deep depression and refusal to grow close to his two living children, instead of

which unfolds about injustice and oppression of the innocent. In a dystopian world a group of eight
telepathic children struggle to grow up undiscovered and when the time comes, to escape. A religious
creed is set up The Definition of Man as a purity standard . As a result, people lived with much fear
and self hatred. The standard set one neighbour against the other in fear of another tribulation . A

Endometrial Cancer Essay
Uterine cancer is an important women health problem developing rapidly, killing over 200,000 women
each year. No one has discovered the actual cause, but there is a leading factor that has great
suspicions to what is causing this cancer to grow rapidly.
The history of endometrial cancer is very vague, but there are a lot of factors and facts from previous
patients that need to be concerned. From the sources that I have research, there was not a definite
name that individuals could say discovered the cancer. Many scientists and doctors really do not talk
about the cancer. This cancer basically has the supported information of how it happens, where it
happens in the body, how can it be treated, and who to turn to when you need help. ... Show more

A woman who goes through menopause after the age of fifty two, which is called late menopause,
actually increases the number of years that the endometrium is exposed to estrogen. To all cancers
there are symptoms that may be long term or short term. In endometrial cancer, the most common
symptoms are abnormal bleeding from the vagina. Abnormal bleeding does happen in menopause,
which makes it harder to determine if something is wrong. During menopause the menstrual period
should become shorter and the frequency should become farther apart. If there were to be any
uncommon bleeding, it should be reported to a physician. Pelvic pain, swelling or lumps in the pelvic
area, and weight loss are symptoms that are less common and would indicate advanced cancer. The
staging system that is used for endometrial cancer was developed by international Federation of
Gynecology and Obstetrics. Staging is used to classify the cancer based on how extent the disease is.
In endometrial cancer, staging is mostly based on how far the main tumor has spread. There are four
stages as follows:
Stage I: The tumor is limited to the upper part of the uterus and has not spread to the surround lymph
nodes or other organs.
Stage IA: Tumor limited to the endometrium or less than one half of the myometrium.
Stage IB: Invasion equal to or more than one half the myometrium (middle layer of the uterine wall)
Stage II: Invasion

Summary Of The Wayzata High School Auditorium
The Wayzata High School auditorium had been transformed into an art museum full of Caleb s
paintings. There was a long table covered with hundreds of candles and matchbooks. An adjacent table
displayed a guest book where friends and family wrote down messages and prayers. The pastor from
the Miller s church distributed flyers about Caleb and suggested prayers to help him and his family
through this difficult time. Dr. Reynolds opened the pamphlet and scanned down the back of the front
page. As his eyes glanced over, he was surprised to see the last section dedicated entirely to Becca and
her struggle. He read every word. The Coopers and the Millers were quietly conversing with the
Davenports in a small circle far across the auditorium. Cathy was gushing to Mrs. Miller about what a
wonderful and brave son she had and how much their family owed him and Matt for saving Ashley.
Matt, Miranda, Ashley and George congregated with twenty other friends discussing the added weight
they all felt when hearing about Becca s condition. Paige stood fifteen feet away with a group of
friends, sobbing uncontrollably in Marcy s arms. The auditorium was already packed, and people were
still pouring in. Dr. Reynolds main objective for the evening was to appear concerned. There were
plenty of other doctors and nurses from Methodist in attendance and to cast suspicion away from
himself, he needed to be amongst them. Making sure to stop and shake hands with many of his
colleagues along the

How Do Smart Devices Affect Society
Smart devices have destroyed all generations but also helped. There are some side effects and causes to
why smart devices became smart devices.Questions to why we as people can t get a good night s
sleep. To long nights of bullying or sadness, or to just not knowing how to go to sleep. This is the side
effects and causes that might help you realize the struggle you put yourself into.
It all starts with you coming back from work or maybe an excellent party. Coming home from
boredom not knowing what to do next, you pick up that device right next to you.I hate to do this, but
admit it, you have phone anxiety. Weather picking up the phone waiting for a text, a call, or maybe
just a video game notification, we all experience this. Not being on your smart device can sometimes
make you feel like you are under pressure, make you feel as if someone was judging you, make you
feel compressed with social awkwardness, and just make you feel as if you are bullying yourself. That
constant battle if you should be on your smart devices depends on the person, where they are at, or just
if they feel comfortable in their own skin. They feel as if they were being pressured by some force of
nature, but in reality behind those devices people are getting depressed, drowsy, suicidal, bullied,
health problems would even worsen, etc. Everything s not ok, the world we know is changing upside
down, things that were once alright aren t anymore, because of one simple thing, Technology.

Cultures are kind of like a family tree. You can be part of other cultures, but you will always have a

not your 100% main blood, they are what I would consider sub cultures. Your mother and father

semi broken form of English when she is with her family. An example of her doing this is when she is
talking about used furniture with her family, Amy says, We were talking about the price of new and
used furniture and I heard myself saying this; Not waste money that way. It is rather odd, considering
she is an author. She then goes on to speak about it by saying, It has become or language of intimacy,

Ancient Greeks pursued an education in order to be better citizens and because they valued the mind

of students and teachers devoted to the intellect. To him a college was an alma mater, knowing her

The New York City s Puerto Rican Community
On 7 June 1969, hundreds of Puerto Ricans gathered in Spanish Harlem, New York City to protest the
arrest of Juan Fi Ortiz for a series of falsified crimes.[2] As a crowd gathered outside the People s
Church in El Barrio, Felipe Luciano addressed those assembled asserting that, We will not allow the
brutalization of our community to go on without a response. For every Puerto Rican that is brutalized,
there will be retaliation. [3]Luciano s statements were not ignored, and as the crowd filtered into the
streets their shouts of Despierta, Boricua. Defiende lo tuyo filled the air.
The events of 7 June 1969 were but one of many moments in the history of New York City s Puerto
Rican community that gave rise to and lent support for the Young Lords Party.[4] Indeed over the
course of the next five years this ethnic group of radical intellectuals would help bring attention to the
plight of the Puerto Rican community in New York City. This essay explores the history of the late
twentieth century Puerto Rican migrants in New York City through an examination of the Young
Lords Party (1969 to 1974). In doing so, it examines several significant topics, including the growth of
the Puerto Rican population in New York City; the unique challenges this ethnic group faced, and the
origins, growth and decline of the Young Lords Party.

The Pros And Cons Of Corruption In Venezuela And Libya
Introduction
Imagine a world where daily planned blackouts and shorter workdays were implemented to conserve
energy. For people living in Venezuela and Libya, this is very much the norm. In addition to being two
of the most corrupt and politically unstable governments in the world, Venezuela and Libya are
plagued with problems surrounding their energy sectors. This is surprising, since they are both
globally known for being oil rich countries. Venezuela had 300 billion barrels of oil reserves in 2016,
passing oil rich Saudi Arabia at 266 billion barrels, Iran at 158 billion, and Iraq at 142 billion. Libya
on the other hand, had about 50 billion barrels of reserves in 2015 (OPEC, 2016). So, where does the
oil go and why do Venezuelans and Libyans suffer energy poverty if they live in oil rich regions of the
world? Nearly all of it is exported out of the country for profit, leaving many of the local citizens in
these two countries empty handed. Corruption revolving around these countries oil exports has pairs
with political instability and leads to a plethora of economic, political, and social problems.
Problem of State Ownership of Oil
In Venezuela, one of the biggest economic and political problems regarding oil exports is that
Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA), Venezuela s major oil and gas company, is state owned
(Schuster, 2017). This means that corruption can run rampant, allowing political leaders to pocket
money from exports. Further, since

Saving The Israelites Research Paper
Saving the Israelites
In the Book of Genesis, Joseph is utilized by God to save the Israelites which started due Joseph s
boasting habits. His story begins with his ten brothers and himself working for his father. Joseph had
tendencies to share his dreams in which he was presented as higher than his brothers. As a result,
Joseph s angry brothers planned to kill him, but ends up in slavery due to his brother Rueben trying to
save him. Therefore, God uses Joseph s hardships to allow the Israelites to end up in Egypt.

save him and attempts to tell the cupbearer to help him get released after he interperts his dream.
Fortunately, Potiphar has a dream that no one can interpret but Joseph, after the cupbearer remembers
him. Joseph explains to Pharaoh the famine that God proclaims will happen in seven years. Again,
God gives Joseph the ability to portray great leadership skills when Potiphar promotes him to second
in command. So, both men prepare for the famine and sell goods to people all over. During the
famine, Jacob sends Joseph s ten older brothers to Egypt to buy grain. Joseph reunites with his
brothers, though hostile, allows them to bring Israelites to Egypt. Although Joseph was confrontational
towards his brothers, it was more of a lesson rather than a revenge plot. To demonstrate, Joseph states,

Construction Of A Data Warehouse
The process of where a data warehouse is fed with extracted source data is largely known as ETL
(Extraction, Transforming and Loading). ETL is a critical process in the construction of a data
warehouse project.
The three stages of the ETL process comply of:
 Extraction: Data is identified and extracted from one or more external different sources, including
applications and database systems.
 Transform: Data is transformed in the aim of ensuring consistency and satisfying business
requirements.
 Loading: Data is loaded into the resultant data warehouse.
There are many challenges involved with fulfilling a dependable ETL process. Some of these relate to:
 Data volumes as there are huge amounts of data available presently, ... Show more content on

Throughout extraction, the desired data is identified and extracted from the source system and is made
available for additional processing. The data can be extracted from numerous different sources. In
most cases, the data sources are internal however sometimes they are external. The ultimate aim is to
retrieve all the essential data from the source system with as little resources as possible. The size of
the data extracted can range from kilobytes to gigabytes.
For extraction within the ETL to be positive and effective, it is essential that there is a high
understanding of the data s layout. The data should also be backed up in another location. Sometimes,
it isn t possible to identify the exact subsection of interest, as a result a larger amount of data than
needed has to be extracted. Consequently, the identification part of extract is carried out further down
the line within the ETL process. Depending on the competence of the system, transformations can take
place during the extraction stage of ETL.
The difficulty of the extraction step is dependent on how alike or unalike the source systems are and

A Genuineness in Humans
Individuals like the feeling that they belong. Sometimes people believe they are alone in the world and
no one else faces similar issues. Susan Morgan starts her literacy criticism by talking about Elizabeth
Bennet s character. She mentions that Elizabeth is flawed which is why she is well liked by readers.
Her flaws show the genuineness of her character and allow readers to make a connection to her. The
connection is easily made because the way that Austen created Elizabeth made her appear to be a real
person. Elizabeth is often boldly rude and disrespectful, yet at the same time she is self confident and
an independent young woman. Rather than a perfect character in a perfect world, Elizabeth is realistic
as she is an imperfect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Elizabeth puts up a front to protect herself from Darcy whom she believes is inferior, a man of sense
and education who has lived in the world, and is ill qualified to recommend himself to strangers
(Morgan 56). Elizabeth s mistake of impertinence toward Darcy is forgiven. Elizabeth s mistakes are
not based on a rejection of society even though it is quite true that they are related to her sense of
personal freedom. What we are to understand by that freedom is not the right to do and say whatever
she wants in defiance of social conventions. Rather, it is a freedom from becoming involved (Morgan
57). Elizabeth does not want to make a commitment or become involved with anyone, which is one
reason she judges Darcy harshly and attempts to push him away. Even when Elizabeth seems to be
attracted to Wickham, she really is not. Elizabeth s heart is not engaged by Mr. Wickham, her
understanding is. Her opinion of him is based on her belief in her own discernment and her separation
through intelligence from an essentially ugly world (Morgan 57). Elizabeth observes society closely
and understands that the world is an ugly place, making her understanding of Wickham s character
even as she does not know anytthing about him. She deceives herself in thinking she likes him, but
lacks serious feelings for him as she likes the idea of him, but not the commitment she would need to
make to him. It seems that

My Philosophy Of Small Groups Essay
Introduction Over the years, many models have been developed and implemented to endeavor to make
disciples. Some of the models have been effective and others have not. Among some of the most
biblical and efficient models are the ones that involve small groups. Within the small groups models,
they can be broken down into further detail, such as pastoral involvement, the church s goal, missions
mindedness, etc. In this paper, I will explain my philosophy of small groups in a church and the
importance of the relational group in authentic disciple making. I will also explain how missional
groups can help the body of Christ move out into the community. Finally, I will summarize my status
in regards to living in community with other believers and being missional with that community. My
Philosophy of Small Groups My personal philosophy of small groups is scriptural based. Acts 2:46
says, And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to
house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart. As the original church began, it is
obvious from Acts chapter two and particularly from verse 46 that the church met in unity in large
groups. They actually used a two fold approach of meeting in large group meetings and then in the
homes for more intimate small group gatherings. Acts 2:46 clearly shows the church gathering in
homes, eating together, and continuing the work of the ministry. Effective ministry is connecting with
both God

a major inflection with plot, in the exposition Anna s daughter (the narrator) delivers readers a brief

The Theme Of Confidence In Jack London s To Build A Fire
Confidence does not always come with intelligence. In To Build a Fire by Jack London, the unnamed
man decides to take on the challenge of traveling through Alaska in negative fifty degree weather,
despite being warned of the dangers. His over confidence has made him fear nothing, not even nature
s toughest challenges. Before this crucial experience he was a cocky and confidence man, but in the
end he learned to not always trust his own thoughts. The crucial moment the man faces, is when he
loses the feeling in his limbs, which leads to the self destruction of his confidence. This happens
because of his over confidence and his lack of experience with this type of weather. Other readers may
argue that the most crucial moment in this story is when the man tries to make the final run to the
town, but collapses during this attempt. They may argue this because it is seen as the final example of

Apologia In Sports Research Paper
II. Sports and Apologia Commentary Apologia In Sports Commentary #1 Apologia is an incredibly
important field in the media, let alone in sports. A recurring theme in the recent sports culture is the
mistakes of popular athletes. Sports culture has become a huge aspect of our society. As more time
passes, sports become more influential in our communities. It has come to the point where everyone
tunes in or hears about the mishaps of our athletic role model and their public apologies. It seems like
every week there is another tragedy in sports, in the sense that another star athlete has potentially
ruined his career. Every month there are athletes pissing their opportunities away. And people are
always drooling to see what they have to say about it, if they are sorry or that they denial. Although it
is getting more popular now, forms of apologia have been involved in sports ever since sports became
popular. The earliest major form of athletic apologia was the Black Sox scandal. The Black Sox

Correlation Between Weber s Law And Visual Perception
Abstract The purpose of this study was to measure and record the just noticeable difference
(or JND) thresholds of random participants using their visual based perception and to replicate and
confirm Weber s Law. Through this four level single factor experiment, these participants were asked
to compare two lines which were flashed to them on a computer screen. Their objective at that point
was to choose which line was longer of the two that were shown, and this was repeated 160 times at
four different levels of line sizes: one inch, two inch, three inch, and four inch with each level having
40 trials. Once the JND values were obtained, they were then statistically analyzed and evaluated in
terms of whether or not they were consistent with Weber s Law. Collection along with the analysis of
the data were all done on the University of California, Irvine campus inside the Social Science
Laboratory. Based on the results, we can conclude there is a relationship between Weber s Law and
visual perception, but this may not always be true.
During the 19th century, popular experimental based psychologist named Ernst Weber developed a
theory on human perception, proclaiming that for a difference to be perceived in two stimuli, they
must differ by a certain minimum value, or in other words, a just noticeable difference, also known as
difference limen or difference threshold. His contributions to the subject of psychophysics led to his
theory being named Weber s Law. This law

Justin Martyr Essay
Irenaeus A key figure in the movement toward orthodoxy and against heretical beliefs, most famously
known for his work Against Heresies. His work was based on unity, which directly contrasted the
Gnostic teaching of that day. He worked toward furthering the church and destroying those against it.
According to Ferguson, Irenaeus was thus both a biblical theologian and a catholic theologian.
Justin Martyr: Justin Martyr, an early apologist and arguably the most important in the second century,
wrote several works that have withstood the test of time: two Apologies and a Dialogue with Trypho.
While Christians were being persecuted Justin responded against many of the accusations against
them, such as: incest, cannibalism, atheism, and Christianity being a subversive group. However,
arguably one of Justin s greatest contributions was the formulation of the Logos doctrine, which was a

Modalistic Monarchianism: Monarchianism meaning, one rule, and modalism: which views the
Father, Son, and Spirit as three modes of one God, give meaning to this term. The early church fathers
felt this movement to be the most dangerous to the church, for it dealt with the subject of
Patripassianism, which was considered egregious in Greek philosophy. To deduce that one God acted
in three different forms would be to say that the same one God also died, which could not be logically
comprehended by the hellenistically infused mindset of that era, and consequently this subject was
addressed within the ecumenical councils.

The Is The Best For The Human Condition
Transhumanism For years, scientists and transhumanists have conceptualized and cultivated ways and
processes which they believe are beneficial to human life. Transhumanists want the best for the human
condition by improvements of medical technology, economics, medicine, culture, and mental
capacities. There are copious amounts of prototypes and ideas that are currently pushing the
movement forward and giving hope to those involved. Though naysayers hold the opinion that
transhumanism will separate humans into two or more distinct species, that is not the intended goal. In
fact, the intentions are to bring us together, rid us of the illness and disease that riddle the human body,
and create a near perfect world. Nick Bostrom, a professor of philosophy at the University of Oxford
and an outspoken member of the transhumanist movement, introduces an approach that very well
summarizes the ambition of the research of transhumanism, ...to radically extend increased funding for
healthy lifespan and favor the development of medical and technological means to improve memory,
concentration, and other human capacities. (Bostrom 202 214). Some argue that transhumanists are
overstepping their moral and ethical boundaries by assuming the role of a higher power. In any case,
the ambitions of transhumanists are to create a better world, one without the stressors we experience
today. Though the intent of transhumanism is positive, there is a downside. Scientists and

Vertical Integration In Hollywood Industry
With the coming of sound came the birth of Hollywood. As Hollywood progressed, stars were made
and so were millions. But these millions of dollars were being given to the top 8 companies in the
industry, The Big Five: Warner Bros., MGM/Loew s, Paramount, 20th Century Fox, and RKO, and
The Little Three: United Artists, Columbia, and Universal. These companies controlled how their
films were made, where they were shown, which films played first and for how long, a clear example
of vertical integration. Most of them bought a chain of theaters, only playing their respective
companies films, which deeply angered independent theater owners. The independents saw millions of

A Surreal Moment Of My Surprise
A Surreal Moment

characteristics one must possess to be classified as heroic? Our interpretation of a hero is ever
changing, constantly influenced by the stories told by the dominant culture, which acts as an invisible

In fact, Harry s fantastic adventure exactly corresponds to the stages and basic elements of a hero s
journey defined by Joseph Campbell, in his famous book entitled The Hero with a Thousand Faces.
According to Campbell, in a typical hero s journey, the major stages begin with the introduction of the
ordinary world, proceeding to the call to adventure which prompts the main character to answer the
call and to go on his quest to defeat the evil (Bronzite). These patterns are undeniably evident in the
Harry Potter movies, especially with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer Stone. It all starts when Harry s
character is introduced as a miserable, ordinary boy whose parents are deceased. He grew up
mistreated, neglected, abused, and unloved by the people around him for the greater part of his
childhood. He knew he was different, there were inexplicable things he could do that others his age
could not. Harry, then gets his call to adventure; he receives a letter from Hogwarts, the school of
witchcraft and wizardry. He initially hesitates and refuses, but he eventually accepts, setting him forth
on the road of trials and challenges. From there, his heroic qualities are truly on display. Harry
exhibits the qualities that are most glorified in our society; not only is Harry loyal and courageous but
he is very athletic with just a hint of understated intelligence. Harry essentially remains

The Costs Of Geothermal Power Plant
8. Cost Like some other renewable energy technologies, the costs of geothermal power plant are
mainly on construction and early expenses, while cost much less in operation and maintenance. 8.1.
Capital Cost This capital cost covers all initial costs, including exploration cost, drilling cost, power

contains the costs of preliminary survey, permits, market analysis, exploration, feasibility study,
project planning, and other aspects. The exploration costs depend on the size and accessibility of the
geothermal site and availability of necessary tools and equipment. The budget of exploration cost in

the costs of the project. In our plan, 10MW per well, thus we need 9wells. Re injection wells are also
required to re injection the cooled geothermal brine back into the well field. We assumed the ratio of
re injection wells to productions wells is 0.7:1. As a result, we need 7 rejection wells. In addition, we
need 2 wells for testing. We assume the cost of drilling a well is $5 million, so the total of drilling cost
will be $90 million. 8.1.3 Power Plant Construction Cost The construction cost mainly contains the

The Mistreatment Of The Illegal Immigrants
The mistreatment of the illegal immigrants has become a serious issue among the United States. There
are tons of debates on the issue, which causes a lot of unrest among the citizens of the country. With
the political debates constanly going back and forth, I well reveal the many insecurities and injustices
that many of the immigrants have faced. Many have complained that because of the illegal
immigrants, the competition for jobs have been fierce making it impossible to obtain a job. However,
by analyzing the welfare of the immigrants, we find that many of them are fighting for minimum wage
jobs. The struggle to make two ends meet alone is enough to cause a breaking point let alone the
unfair treatment given to them by the biased masses. Not even the children are spared from the
senseless bickering, Leaving them doomed to suffer the unjust penalties due to the lack of
Immigration reform. Immigrants have been constantly being demonized by the usual patriotic
propaganda the has spawned from the people. The lack of any positive reform can t be seen in the
future due to congress at a constant power struggle spiraling downward. Analyzing the Welfare effect
of illegal immigration, shows the dynamic overall framework and shows why it s positive for two
reasons. First, immigrants are paid less than their marginal product, and second, after an increase in
immigration, domestic households find it optimal to increase their holdings of capital. It is also shown

Special Prison Populations
Corrections are an important part of the criminal justice system and they work in concert with law
enforcement and the courts. Citizens in the United States expect criminals to be monitored, with some

expectation further, there are 2.5 million individuals on probation or parole and 1 million individuals
in jails or prisons (Morris Tonry, 2013, p. 370). However, does every individual confined in jails and
prisons still need to be there or is there a better way to deal with certain special prison populations?
Due to the large number of prisoners within the correctional system, certain special populations of
inmates do not receive the rehabilitation or care needed to successfully reintegrate back into society.
Additionally, these special populations create an undue burden on the correctional system in terms of
financial costs associated with their confinement. There are changes that can be made to the criminal
justice system to accommodate special populations of inmates. This paper will explore the alternative

Between 1900 and 2000, the life expectancy in this country has risen from 47 to 78 years of age
(Rikard Rosenberg, 2013, p. 404). Although the older population has grown from 4% to 13% in the
United States during the same period, the elder prison population has grown substantially. For
example, between 1994 and 1998, Texas saw an 86% increase in the elderly prison populations while
California expects to see a 200% increase by 2020 (Rikard Rosenberg, 2013, p. 404). When
determining the need to incarcerate an elderly individual, several costly considerations must be made.
Elderly inmates require more medical care compared to the younger prisoners and special
accommodations must be consider for older inmates (Rikard Rosenberg, 2013, p.

people who are calm, reserved, take the time to reflect on ideas that explain the outside world. The
letter N represents Intuition. Intuitive type may be concerned with what is new and doing new and

Applying this process in a classroom may look like showing students the mnemonic techniques in
Multiplication in a Flash that teaches the zero, one, two, five, and nine times tables with at least two
other different strategies and then allowing the children can choose the one they like best. Once the
students have been introduced to strategies for solving the remaining multiplication facts, pictures,
stories, and rhymes could be shown that are the second part of the Multiplication in a Flash program.
This could be a strengthening and helpful aid for students to be able to memorize their multiplication
tables. Imagine the procedures of this program; first students learning strategies to solve multiplication
facts, and then this program is added in as an aid or reinforcement. An observation of this process
would hopefully look like an activity or review to reinforce the concepts of the multiplication facts
students should have already grasped. The strategies from the program could easily be introduced
while teaching the multiplication facts and wouldn t take much time to implement. The strategies
could be used in centers because most of them are stories or have activities attached to them. This
definitely sounds like a beneficial

White House Construction
In order for Alexander Hamilton to get his assumption bill passed, he, James Madison, and Thomas
Jefferson made a deal known as the Compromise of 1790 which gave Hamilton the votes he needed to
pass his bill and Jefferson and Madison obtained the nation s capitol for the South and this is where
the White House would later be built. Before construction of the White House, though, the President
lived in the President s House in Philadelphia which was built in 1767 and served originally as home
to the Penn family, who founded Pennsylvania, and it was probably the largest home in all of
Philadelphia. This is where Washington spent his presidency and also where Adams spent the first 18
months of his presidency before moving to the White House. The architect who designed the White
House was Pierre Charles L Enfant in 1791 while designing the District of Columbia. He envisioned a
large mansion for the President which was five times larger than the building that was actually built. ...

changes over the years, one of the most important renovations being the Truman Restoration that
occurred from 1948 to 1952. Truman added a balcony branching off the second story of the South
Portico and, shortly after this, the main building was found by architects to be structurally unsound,
leaving the old interior to be dismantled and rebuilt with concrete and steel instead of wood. Some
small modifications were made as well during this time, such as adding bathrooms to each bedroom
and repositioning the main staircase to the Entrance Hall instead of the Cross

Essay about Diffusion Lab Report
Abstract:
The importance of this computerized simulation study was to gain an understanding of the processes
that account for the movement of substances across the plasma membrane, and to indicate the driving
force for each. This may also be applied to the study of transport mechanisms in living membrane
bounded cells. Also, understanding of which way substances will move passively through a

This is unlike the rest that are the diffusion of molecules. In pinocytosis a bit of infolding plasma
membrane surrounds a very small volume of extracellular fluid containing dissolved molecules. These
cell drinking cells are also called fluid phase endocytosis. The fuse with endosome occurs when the
droplet enters the cell. Pinocytosis is a routine activity of most cells, affording them a nonselective
way of sampling the extracellular fluid, unlike phagocytosis. Phagocytosis is engulfing of foreign
solids by cells. Experiments were conducted in order to gain a better understanding of a cell s
selectively permeable membrane and the passive processes of simple and facilitated diffusion. The
purpose of this experiment was to make observations based on the computerized simulation providing
information on the passage of water and solutes through semipermeable membranes, which may be
applied to the study of transport mechanisms in living membrane bounded cells. We hypothesized that
when the sucrose concentration will change, the mass will also change.

Investigating Precision And Accuracy Of Experimental...
Comparing and Contrasting Liquid Volumes to Determine Precision and Accuracy of Experimental
Measurement
Introduction The purpose of this experiment is to compare and contrast liquid volume reading values
of different measuring devices, determining the precision and accuracy of experimental measurement.
This was done through use of a graduated cylinder, a serological pipette, and a variable volume
pipette.
In laboratories, many kinds of containers and devices are available for measuring liquid volume. For
example, graduated cylinders are used to approximate measurements, Serological Pipettes are used to
more precisely measure volumes, and variable volume pipettes measure liquids even more accurately.
[1] These containers are labeled with marks or values, normally along the sides, which indicate the
volume they may contain. The manufacturers place the labels through a method of calibration. Since
these containers and devices are all calibrated differently they all have distinct tolerances for
measurement accuracy.
Materials and Methods: The measuring devices used in this experiment are as follows: A Fisher
Scientific 25 mL graduated cylinder, a Greiner Bio one 10 mL serological pipette, a VWR
International 100 1000 mL variable volume pipette, a 20 mL scintillation vial, and a AWS 600 weight
scale. This experiment consists of four methods, of measuring and weighing room temperature water
using the different devices, each method repeated five times. Method one is to

man (Adam) sinned against God; Adam disobeyed God by eating the fruit that God had said not to eat.
There is way s to see this problem of what we call evil, not sin since sin is against God. We can see in
Job all the evil that came to him (it wasn t from God but God let it happened) it was from Satan. Satan

  • 2. The Giving Tree By Shel Silverstein Meaning The Giving Tree is a sentimental poem by Shel Silverstein. The main lesson of this poem revolves around absolute selflessness, it s evident. However, despite this essential, meaningful teaching, there are other underlying themes that are just as influential, if not more. These other lessons, perhaps, are vital to a happy life. The Giving Tree preaches around ideas like: going barefoot, just being there for someone, and that happiness is a place between too much and too little. The relevancy of these life lessons are indescribable. Firstly, going barefoot might be the way to walk. The meaning of this short phrase conveys that the stress free life of a naive child running barefoot in the yard is something taken for granted. People are too busy pushing kids into their future that they forget, sometimes childhood is what they should be revisiting. The hardships of life is something only people with a certain maturity can fully effect. Once there was a tree....and she loved a little boy. And everyday the boy would come and he would gather her leaves and make them into crowns and play king of the forest. He would climb up her trunk and swing from her branches and eat apples. And they would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What this quote conveys is that having too little is an evident struggle, financially, support, a home, a loss is a loss. It s an emptiness that has yet to be filled. It is a place where genuine happiness has a hard time taking place. However, throughout the poem, throughout the boy s life, he keeps coming back to the tree asking for things. He picked her apples to receive money. He took her branches to build himself a house. He cut her down to use her trunk to make himself a boat. He had all these wonderful things expecting happiness as a result, but still came back to her. Utter happiness is a great pair with contemptment. Not too much, but not too little. It took the boy years to realize this, until he was an old ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. God Is A Contractual Relationship Between God And God A covenant is a contractual relationship between two parties, usually a king and his followers. The covenant relationship between God and the people of Israel is strong. God makes covenants with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For these covenants to be strong there needs to be loyalty and faithfulness on both sides. The Mishnah emphasizes this relationship in many of the texts, this relationship is most emphasized in the sections of prayer and festivals. The section of prayers is called zera im or seeds, it literally means the availability of agricultural products in Israel. This connects to prayer because in order for the land to be rich of agricultural products by God, the people of Israel need to pray and show gratitude to God. In the chapter the Life of the Torah , there is a section about the daily life of the Jew and much of the day consists of prayer. There are very specific times for prayer and recitation of the Shema and Tefillah. The Mishnah requires Jews pray before and after meals. The sages have many rules for blessing over food, there are different prayers for different types of food. They sages also require that the Jews say grace after meals, this prayer requires more components than prayers before meals. They thank him for the land, ask him to rebuild the temple, sustain his people, bless the host and hostess, and send peace to all of Israel. In the first section in Grace After Meals: Thanking God the Provider , the leader says For he is God who sustains all, doest good to all, and provides food for all creatures he has created. Blessed art thou, O Lord, who dost sustain all (696). These prayers are important to Jews because this shows that they are faithful to God and appreciate his work for them. The covenant here is if they stay faithful and gratuitous to God then God will rebuild Jerusalem, create peace for all of Israel and provide them with land and agriculture. Overall, the Rabbi s do not disagree on this topic. They all believe as long as they recite the benedictions at the right times and for the right things, then the covenant between God and the people of Israel will remain strong. Also, the section in Mishnah about the different festivals and celebrations highlight the covenant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Maid Of Honor After attending the Grammys with pal Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift proved once again that she is a good friend as she joins the wedding of her best friend, Britany Maack as the maid of honor. The Blank Space singer went home to her native Berks County to serve as maid of honor for her lifelong friend s wedding, whom she met when she was still a kid. Maack married Benjamin LaManna at the chapel of the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters that was followed by a reception at Berkshire Country Club, Bern Township. The bride and her BFF superstar are donning gowns designed by Reem Acra. Swift was wearing a light blush color long gown which appears as a perfect complement to the white lace bodice wedding dress of Maack, Vogue reported. • 5. The Phantom Of The Opera Phantom of the Opera has been around for longer than I can recall, being the musical to talk about among my family as something grand. When I was the age of only fourteen I received the honor of performing the musical for the first time, although I had to learn a great deal about the script for that performance, the history behind The Phantom of the Opera is not clear to me. So I started my research their tied to the original piece. Phantom of the opera.com gave a timeline that had the background, explaining that the original piece was published in 1911 by Gaston Leroux. (Timeline) The author was inspired by a trip to the Paris opera house, explaining that below the Paris opera house is a lake, and that he recalled an accident in which the chandelier had fallen some years earlier. (Hall, P.16) Sparking Gaston Leroux to make the book. The book from this point was given to the hands of a movie producer making a silent film in November 1925. (The Phantom of the Opera (1925)) The film after its first round was then re done two more times, one of which was not a success. Andrew Lloyd Webber in May of 1984 hears about the theatre royals stage performance and then comes up with the ideal to turn the book/ play at this time into a musical. The musical took several awards and made countless new fans, finally being turned into a film by Warner Brothers Dec, 22 2004, showing the same amount of success as the musical show. No one has discovered the actual cause, but there is a leading factor that has great suspicions to what is causing this cancer to grow rapidly. The history of endometrial cancer is very vague, but there are a lot of factors and facts from previous patients that need to be concerned. From the sources that I have research, there was not a definite name that individuals could say discovered the cancer. Many scientists and doctors really do not talk about the cancer. A woman who goes through menopause after the age of fifty two, which is called late menopause, actually increases the number of years that the endometrium is exposed to estrogen. To all cancers there are symptoms that may be long term or short term. In endometrial cancer, the most common symptoms are abnormal bleeding from the vagina. Abnormal bleeding does happen in menopause, which makes it harder to determine if something is wrong. During menopause the menstrual period should become shorter and the frequency should become farther apart. If there were to be any uncommon bleeding, it should be reported to a physician. Pelvic pain, swelling or lumps in the pelvic area, and weight loss are symptoms that are less common and would indicate advanced cancer. The staging system that is used for endometrial cancer was developed by international Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics. Staging is used to classify the cancer based on how extent the disease is. In endometrial cancer, staging is mostly based on how far the main tumor has spread. There are four stages as follows: Stage I: The tumor is limited to the upper part of the uterus and has not spread to the surround lymph nodes or other organs. Stage IA: Tumor limited to the endometrium or less than one half of the myometrium. There was a long table covered with hundreds of candles and matchbooks. An adjacent table displayed a guest book where friends and family wrote down messages and prayers. The pastor from the Miller s church distributed flyers about Caleb and suggested prayers to help him and his family through this difficult time. Dr. Reynolds opened the pamphlet and scanned down the back of the front page. As his eyes glanced over, he was surprised to see the last section dedicated entirely to Becca and her struggle. He read every word. The Coopers and the Millers were quietly conversing with the Davenports in a small circle far across the auditorium. Cathy was gushing to Mrs. Miller about what a wonderful and brave son she had and how much their family owed him and Matt for saving Ashley. Matt, Miranda, Ashley and George congregated with twenty other friends discussing the added weight they all felt when hearing about Becca s condition. Paige stood fifteen feet away with a group of friends, sobbing uncontrollably in Marcy s arms. The auditorium was already packed, and people were still pouring in. It all starts with you coming back from work or maybe an excellent party. Coming home from boredom not knowing what to do next, you pick up that device right next to you.I hate to do this, but admit it, you have phone anxiety. Weather picking up the phone waiting for a text, a call, or maybe just a video game notification, we all experience this. Not being on your smart device can sometimes make you feel like you are under pressure, make you feel as if someone was judging you, make you feel compressed with social awkwardness, and just make you feel as if you are bullying yourself. That constant battle if you should be on your smart devices depends on the person, where they are at, or just if they feel comfortable in their own skin. They feel as if they were being pressured by some force of nature, but in reality behind those devices people are getting depressed, drowsy, suicidal, bullied, health problems would even worsen, etc. Everything s not ok, the world we know is changing upside down, things that were once alright aren t anymore, because of one simple thing, Technology. This relates to a family tree because you have your aunts and uncles, but they are not your 100% main blood, they are what I would consider sub cultures. Your mother and father would be conisderd your main culture, because they are the people who made you, not only that they shaped your culture and beliefs. This is only a sample of what I am discussing, in English class we read the story, Mother Tounge. In Mother Tounge I can proove to you that there is only one dominate culture. In Mother Tounge Amy Tan s main culture is her family. One example is that Amy talks in a semi broken form of English when she is with her family. An example of her doing this is when she is talking about used furniture with her family, Amy says, We were talking about the price of new and used furniture and I heard myself saying this; Not waste money that way. It is rather odd, considering she is an author. Ancient Greeks pursued an education in order to be better citizens and because they valued the mind and thinking. His ideal was a residential community of students and teachers devoted to the intellect. To him a college was an alma mater, knowing her children one by one, not a foundry, or a mint, or a treadmill. To Newman, a university was a gathering place for those who wanted to enrich their lives through learning, not a place where students could be molded. Is this the case today? The New Jersey City University states that a liberal arts curriculum will provide students with the kind of knowledge that will help them live a more rewarding life one that is rich with meaning. • 14. The New York City s Puerto Rican Community On 7 June 1969, hundreds of Puerto Ricans gathered in Spanish Harlem, New York City to protest the arrest of Juan Fi Ortiz for a series of falsified crimes.[2] As a crowd gathered outside the People s Church in El Barrio, Felipe Luciano addressed those assembled asserting that, We will not allow the brutalization of our community to go on without a response. For every Puerto Rican that is brutalized, there will be retaliation. [3]Luciano s statements were not ignored, and as the crowd filtered into the streets their shouts of Despierta, Boricua. Defiende lo tuyo filled the air. The events of 7 June 1969 were but one of many moments in the history of New York City s Puerto Rican community that gave rise to and lent support for the Young Lords Party.[4] Indeed over the course of the next five years this ethnic group of radical intellectuals would help bring attention to the plight of the Puerto Rican community in New York City. • 15. The Pros And Cons Of Corruption In Venezuela And Libya Introduction Imagine a world where daily planned blackouts and shorter workdays were implemented to conserve energy. For people living in Venezuela and Libya, this is very much the norm. In addition to being two of the most corrupt and politically unstable governments in the world, Venezuela and Libya are plagued with problems surrounding their energy sectors. This is surprising, since they are both globally known for being oil rich countries. Venezuela had 300 billion barrels of oil reserves in 2016, passing oil rich Saudi Arabia at 266 billion barrels, Iran at 158 billion, and Iraq at 142 billion. Libya on the other hand, had about 50 billion barrels of reserves in 2015 (OPEC, 2016). So, where does the oil go and why do Venezuelans and Libyans suffer energy poverty if they live in oil rich regions of the world? Nearly all of it is exported out of the country for profit, leaving many of the local citizens in these two countries empty handed. Corruption revolving around these countries oil exports has pairs with political instability and leads to a plethora of economic, political, and social problems. Problem of State Ownership of Oil In Venezuela, one of the biggest economic and political problems regarding oil exports is that Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA), Venezuela s major oil and gas company, is state owned (Schuster, 2017). This means that corruption can run rampant, allowing political leaders to pocket money from exports. Some of the models have been effective and others have not. Among some of the most biblical and efficient models are the ones that involve small groups. Within the small groups models, they can be broken down into further detail, such as pastoral involvement, the church s goal, missions mindedness, etc. In this paper, I will explain my philosophy of small groups in a church and the importance of the relational group in authentic disciple making. I will also explain how missional groups can help the body of Christ move out into the community. Finally, I will summarize my status in regards to living in community with other believers and being missional with that community. My Philosophy of Small Groups My personal philosophy of small groups is scriptural based. Acts 2:46 says, And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart. As the original church began, it is obvious from Acts chapter two and particularly from verse 46 that the church met in unity in large groups. They actually used a two fold approach of meeting in large group meetings and then in the homes for more intimate small group gatherings. Acts 2:46 clearly shows the church gathering in homes, eating together, and continuing the work of the ministry. Effective ministry is connecting with both God ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Correlation Between Weber s Law And Visual Perception Abstract The purpose of this study was to measure and record the just noticeable difference (or JND) thresholds of random participants using their visual based perception and to replicate and confirm Weber s Law. Through this four level single factor experiment, these participants were asked to compare two lines which were flashed to them on a computer screen. Their objective at that point was to choose which line was longer of the two that were shown, and this was repeated 160 times at four different levels of line sizes: one inch, two inch, three inch, and four inch with each level having 40 trials. Once the JND values were obtained, they were then statistically analyzed and evaluated in terms of whether or not they were consistent with Weber s Law. Collection along with the analysis of the data were all done on the University of California, Irvine campus inside the Social Science Laboratory. Based on the results, we can conclude there is a relationship between Weber s Law and visual perception, but this may not always be true. During the 19th century, popular experimental based psychologist named Ernst Weber developed a theory on human perception, proclaiming that for a difference to be perceived in two stimuli, they must differ by a certain minimum value, or in other words, a just noticeable difference, also known as difference limen or difference threshold. • 36. A Surreal Moment Of My Surprise A Surreal Moment My heart was pounding, the ballroom was silent and there I was standing in the top two on the Miss Teen USA stage. All of my hard work and dedication had paid off in that moment. As I was standing there hand in hand with Miss California Teen, I felt like I had been there before. I had dreamed about this moment but never expected it to really happen. Strangely, I had a sense of peace I knew something big was about to happen, and that my life was about to change. The crown was placed on my head, tears ran down my face, and I took my first walk as Miss Teen USA. It all started when I was fourteen years old and after much encouragement from others I decided to compete in the Miss Louisiana Teen USA pageant. As the youngest contestant, I felt I was at a disadvantage but decided to do it for the experience. To my surprise, I was crowned the youngest ever Miss Louisiana Teen USA in October of my freshman year of high school. I was now qualified to compete for the title of Miss Teen USA and had ten months to prepare while also representing the state of Louisiana at numerous charity events. There was much more preparation than just getting on stage in front of thousands of people in a beautiful gown. I had to learn how to do my own makeup and hair, work on interview skills, have an evening gown and swimsuit routine and be prepared to answer an on stage question which was my greatest fear. Its common usage begs the question, what exactly is a hero? Are there traits and characteristics one must possess to be classified as heroic? Our interpretation of a hero is ever changing, constantly influenced by the stories told by the dominant culture, which acts as an invisible hand. Back in the earlier days of storytelling, heroes were more easily identifiable; most heroes were depicted as strong individuals that is capable of doing things others couldn t, heroes were brave, and they were typically males. In fact, Harry s fantastic adventure exactly corresponds to the stages and basic elements of a hero s journey defined by Joseph Campbell, in his famous book entitled The Hero with a Thousand Faces. According to Campbell, in a typical hero s journey, the major stages begin with the introduction of the ordinary world, proceeding to the call to adventure which prompts the main character to answer the call and to go on his quest to defeat the evil (Bronzite). These patterns are undeniably evident in the Harry Potter movies, especially with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer Stone. It all starts when Harry s character is introduced as a miserable, ordinary boy whose parents are deceased. He grew up mistreated, neglected, abused, and unloved by the people around him for the greater part of his childhood. He knew he was different, there were inexplicable things he could do that others his age could not. Harry, then gets his call to adventure; he receives a letter from Hogwarts, the school of witchcraft and wizardry. He initially hesitates and refuses, but he eventually accepts, setting him forth on the road of trials and challenges. From there, his heroic qualities are truly on display. Harry exhibits the qualities that are most glorified in our society; not only is Harry loyal and courageous but he is very athletic with just a hint of understated intelligence. The exploration costs depend on the size and accessibility of the geothermal site and availability of necessary tools and equipment. The budget of exploration cost in our plan is $8 million. 8.1.2 Drilling Cost Drilling costs are one of most important factors determining the costs of the project. In our plan, 10MW per well, thus we need 9wells. Re injection wells are also required to re injection the cooled geothermal brine back into the well field. We assumed the ratio of re injection wells to productions wells is 0.7:1. As a result, we need 7 rejection wells. In addition, we need 2 wells for testing. We assume the cost of drilling a well is $5 million, so the total of drilling cost will be $90 million. 8.1.3 Power Plant Construction Cost The construction cost mainly contains the plant construction equipment costs, turbine costs, installation costs, materials costs, labor costs, cooling structure costs and other infrastructure related costs. • 40. The Mistreatment Of The Illegal Immigrants The mistreatment of the illegal immigrants has become a serious issue among the United States. There are tons of debates on the issue, which causes a lot of unrest among the citizens of the country. With the political debates constanly going back and forth, I well reveal the many insecurities and injustices that many of the immigrants have faced. Many have complained that because of the illegal immigrants, the competition for jobs have been fierce making it impossible to obtain a job. However, by analyzing the welfare of the immigrants, we find that many of them are fighting for minimum wage jobs. The struggle to make two ends meet alone is enough to cause a breaking point let alone the unfair treatment given to them by the biased masses. Not even the children are spared from the senseless bickering, Leaving them doomed to suffer the unjust penalties due to the lack of Immigration reform. Immigrants have been constantly being demonized by the usual patriotic propaganda the has spawned from the people. The lack of any positive reform can t be seen in the future due to congress at a constant power struggle spiraling downward. Analyzing the Welfare effect of illegal immigration, shows the dynamic overall framework and shows why it s positive for two reasons. First, immigrants are paid less than their marginal product, and second, after an increase in immigration, domestic households find it optimal to increase their holdings of capital. Citizens in the United States expect criminals to be monitored, with some in secured facilities, so they will not fear of becoming continual victim of crime. To illustrate this expectation further, there are 2.5 million individuals on probation or parole and 1 million individuals in jails or prisons (Morris Tonry, 2013, p. 370). However, does every individual confined in jails and prisons still need to be there or is there a better way to deal with certain special prison populations? Due to the large number of prisoners within the correctional system, certain special populations of inmates do not receive the rehabilitation or care needed to successfully reintegrate back into society. Additionally, these special populations create an undue burden on the correctional system in terms of financial costs associated with their confinement. Comparing and Contrasting Liquid Volumes to Determine Precision and Accuracy of Experimental Measurement Introduction The purpose of this experiment is to compare and contrast liquid volume reading values of different measuring devices, determining the precision and accuracy of experimental measurement. This was done through use of a graduated cylinder, a serological pipette, and a variable volume pipette. In laboratories, many kinds of containers and devices are available for measuring liquid volume. For example, graduated cylinders are used to approximate measurements, Serological Pipettes are used to more precisely measure volumes, and variable volume pipettes measure liquids even more accurately. [1] These containers are labeled with marks or values, normally along the sides, which indicate the volume they may contain. The manufacturers place the labels through a method of calibration. Since these containers and devices are all calibrated differently they all have distinct tolerances for measurement accuracy. Materials and Methods: The measuring devices used in this experiment are as follows: A Fisher Scientific 25 mL graduated cylinder, a Greiner Bio one 10 mL serological pipette, a VWR International 100 1000 mL variable volume pipette, a 20 mL scintillation vial, and a AWS 600 weight scale.
