Analysis Of Maria De Garcia De Marquez
Finding out a family member has a disease and that it s a mental one, is devastating. Mental problems
don t just destroy the individual, but the entire family. Until recently, we came across something
known as delusions of persecution. We immediately started seeking for answers only to find out my
great aunt, Maria de Jesus Carbajal de Marquez, has been suffering from delusions of persecution for
the past three years. Never in a million years did we think that one of our family members would
suffer from this mental disease.
Whenever a person falsely believes they are being conspired against by others is called delusions of
persecution. An example of delusions of persecution would be that the government is spying on an
individual (e.g. tapping their phone lines) because they were wrongfully identified as a terrorist (
Specific Themes of Delusions ). There are four general types of delusions: bizarre delusions, non
bizarre delusions, mood congruent delusions, and mood neutral delusions. Moreover, there are specific
types of themes of delusions. These themes range from: control (believing another person is able to
control your brain) to grandeur (believing that you are God) to mind reading (believing others can
read your mind) ( Specific Themes of Delusion ). For example, delusions of persecution is a theme
that has eight different types of sub themes: attacked, cheated, conspired against, followed,
harassment, obstructed, poisoned, and spied upon, ( Specific Themes

Eugene O’neill and the the Rebirth of Tragedy a...
Eugene Gladstone O Neill is one of the greatest American playwrights, he is known for plays such as
Long Day s Journey into Night , Beyond the Horizon (1920), Anna Christie (1922), Strange Interlude
(1928), Mourning Becomes Electra (1931)and The Iceman Cometh (1946). His plays probe the
American Dream, race relations, class conflicts, sexuality, human aspirations and psychoanalysis. He
often became immersed in the modernist movements of his time as he primarily sought to create
modern American drama that would rival the great works of European modernists such as Ibsen,
Strindberg and G.B. Shaw. O Neill was a great admirer of classical theatre and as a young man he had
read Friedrich Nietzsche s work about the origin of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is remarkable how O Neill contrives to preserve the Chorus, which is a fundamental element of the
Greek tragedy. Although it is not as dramatic as the tragic Chorus of the classical Greek plays, each
and every of the three parts of Mourning Becomes Electra begins with the performance of a chorus
formed of different men and women that comment upon the Mannons, the history of their family,
revealing to the audience details about the behavior and the character of the heroes. Moreover, the
setting chosen by O Neill is similar to the classical one used by the Greeks. It is known that in
Aeschylus times a wooden wall was used as a background of the setting, the wall usually stood for a
palace or a temple and this exactly the same as in O Neill s trilogy, as the greatest part of the action
takes place in front of the Mannon s residence which is described as being an enormous stone mansion
that has the aspect of a Greek temple(the temple of god Apollo) with a white wooden portico, with six
tall columns [2]. However that was the typical construction for a house that belonged to an American
aristocratic family in the XIX century. In Mourning Becomes Electra , O Neill brought into
consonance the fundamental traits of the Greek tragedy and the specific elements of modern theatre,
thus creating a

Gertrude s Treatment Of Women In Hamlet
The role and treatment of women throughout Hamlet causes the play to come across as misogynistic
and outdated. There are only two women introduced to the audience in the play, one being the
incestuous Gertrude and the other, naïve and weak Ophelia. Hamlet, having felt betrayed by his
Mother, becomes cynical about all women in general. He becomes obsessed with female sexuality, and
the obsolete idea that women should remain pure until marriage. Shakespeare portrays women as
weak and dirty creatures that men should be weary of, however easy it may be to manipulate them.
In Hamlet s agony over his father s death, he feels betrayed by Gertrude due to the fact that instead of
offering comfort she re marries to Hamlets uncle. The audience becomes

Food Stamp Program Benefits
The food stamp program was instituted to ensure that people are no longer are going hungry in
America. Since The Food Stamp Act came into effect in the year 1964. Obesity seems to be more
prevalent in participants of this food program. Obesity does not discriminate, although it does appear
to affect lower income women that participate in the Food Stamp Program. As written by Gibson
(2008) Participation in the Food Stamp Program by low income women was associated with a 9.0%
increase in the probability of current obesity (as cited by Zhu,Yen,Eastwood, 2005). More people are
inclined to be more obese now than ever before; there are 30% or 6 million of adults that are
categorized as obese in the United States (Collins, 2007). The rate is for ... Show more content on

The opportunities range from taxation of sugar based drinks to educating people only healthy foods. A
few of the options are the following examples. At present, benefits are distributed once a month. One
of the programs that are being discussed are the possibility of dividing up the SNAP benefit payment
to twice a month, As quoted by Bhargava (2004) and Shapiro (2005) To break the food stamp cycle
some researcher propose distributing SNAP benefits more often than the monthly schedule (as quoted
by Richards, Sindelar, 2013). One hope for the indicated would be too encouraging increased fruits
and vegetables to be purchased to produce a healthier eating pattern during the entire month. Hence,
the curbing of high calorie foods are thought to generate obesity. The option also comes with
problems. Some participants have no genuine incentive to improve their eating practices, and in store
purchases and personal influence remain (Richards, Sindelar, 2013). Some participants feel they need
to be rewarded for buying healthy, fresh foods with their snap benefits. An option that would provide
an incentive for every purchase of fresh fruits and vegetables a reimbursement of SNAP cash will be
added to the benefit card. The benefit will be added on toward the end of the month. Giving people the
opportunity to buy additional groceries. Even with this option when the added benefits are placed on
the SNAP the recipients can then proceed to purchase the sugar based drinks of their choice. This
program would not eliminate the purchasing of sugar based

Weathering In Lehman Cave
Weathering is the when rocks break down physically or chemically into smaller particles called
sediments. Physical weathering is the breakdown of rocks and minerals without changing the chemical
composition. Examples of physical weathering include frost wedging, biological activity/root
weathering, mining/burrowing, exfoliation, and abrasion. Chemical weathering is the breakdown of
rocks into smaller pieces by changing the chemical composition of the sediments. Examples of
chemical weathering include oxidation, hydration, carbonic acid reacting with calcite to form caves,
and biosphere (plant acids). Erosion is taking the material that has been weathered and is ready to be
moved or eroded, and transports those loose sediments or rocks that ... Show more content on

The acidic ground water was necessary due to the fact that pure water could not dissolve the limestone
and marble. The acidic ground water absorbed some carbon dioxide from the air and the decaying
vegetation located in the soil and formulated carbonic acid. The carbonic acid was able to dissolve out
cavities (3) in the bedrock and when the level of the water dropped, the passageways were ready for
the next step of the development of caves. There is water that seeps into the cave at a slower rate. The
acid is weak but it is able to dissolve the bedrock above the cave and is able to redeposit the minerals,
which in this case is calcite, on the floors, ceilings, and walls of the Lehman Caves in the form of cave
decorations (3). These are still growing today, and because of it they are very

Desire In Thou Blind Man s Mark By Sir Philip Sidney
In Sir Philip Sidney s sonnet, Thou Blind Man s Mark, the speaker describes his personal experience
with the vice of desire. Buy expressing the abstract and hazardous nature of desire it becomes evident
that the speaker acknowledges both his disdain for the subject and his struggle to overcome it. The
initial quatrain builds the idea of the blind man s mark, known as desire, with the speaker presenting
progressively derogatory comments about it. By addressing desire as the blind man s mark the speaker
implies that those who succumb to it are unaware of themselves doing so, since blindness represents a
lack of perception. Adding to this notion, the speaker continues to call desire fond fancy s scum, and
dregs of scattered thought to engrain the fleeting an trite nature the subject possesses. This list of
insults climaxes in the final line of the quatrain, where the speaker states that the ultimate danger of
the convoluted web of will is its perpetuity, since its end is never wrought; because it spirals on
without an individuals critically analyzing their actions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The speaker s confession points to how the speaker understands why others may fall victim to desire
as well, offering a hint of solidarity. But overall, the speaker advises those tempted to avoid desire by
explaining the price he had to pay for submitting to it. The speaker describes the toll by recalling how
he gained a mangled mind and worthless ware, and uses alliteration to accentuate how he had partook
in desire in the past. The speaker mentions the ills that he has accumulated in hopes of waking those
who are asleep and oblivious to the dangers of desire, like he once

Summary Of Love Stories By Inhorn
I think the most significant point is to understand that what we hear from the media and other sources
of news about the culture of the Middle East and notions like polygamy, arranged marriage, and lack
of romantic love between couples is exaggerated and sometimes not true.
Inhorn in the article Love Stories explains a case of a Syrian couple who have to travel to Beirut to
receive an egg donation. The couple have been married for 17 years, but they were unable to have
children because the wife is infertile. Egg donation is against their religion, and they have not told
their families about it. Although the husband, Hatam, has been under pressure by his family to divorce
his wife, or marry a second wife, he refuses because he loves his wife. Inhorn uses this ... Show more

In fact, marriage and having a family is an important notion in Middle East, and according to her 95%
of people in the Middle East marry at least once. Because of the importance of this concept in the
Middle East not only men love their wife, they also so their best to keep them happy. She argues that
arranged marriage is not a form of forced marriage, in fact it is based on the fact that couples would
develop companionship and romantic love over time. In addition, she debates that polygamy, which is
also another issue targeted by West, is not prevalent in the Middle East and only 5% of the population
practice polygamy. These are all important features that show the traditions of the Middle East are
changing. Although the couple, Hatam Huda, are both

The purpose of this experiment is to see how height affects distance and to see how adding additional
height affects the distance that the ball travels. Also, to see how gravity pulls the ball down storing
energy and releasing the energy as the ball hits the bottom of the ramp and to see the distance the ball
travels after books are added.
How does height affect distance?
If I variably raise the height of a ramp using 3 textbooks, then the distance that ball travels will
increase with height because of gravity and energy.

Forms Of Sexual Hypocrisy In George Eliot s Middlemarch
The 19th century literature depicts the bodily desire largely rather than being enunciated explicitly.
The forms of love and desire in this era has philosophical, historical and aesthetic contexts. Visual arts
and literature has shaped love in this time. The Victorian period on one hand where publicly used to
have a respectable discussion on sexuality, on the other hand had undeniable modesty in matters of
speech, gesture and clothing.
There was once a society which is still held above all others to be the paradigm of sexual hypocrisy.
An ostensibly, even ostentatiously virtuous society which furtively broke its own rules of conduct; a
society which had nothing to say on sexual matters but left them but left them to the professionals.
The summary image of Victorian Society is extraordinarily tenacious.
The novel Middlemarch written by George Eliot (1871 1872) enjoyed immense popularity as it
dominated the European Literature in the 18th century. Eliot showcases social values and personal
importance by theorizing desire in her novel. The scene between Dorothea Brooke and Will Ladislaw
in the library at Ludwick, that scene which lends itself to a dynamic representative reading to desire s
function in Eliot s work. In An Erotic s of Detachment: Middlemarch and Novel reading as a Critical
Practice David Kurnick places Dorothea in the role of the restless and perpetually desirous novel
reader. Kurnick argues that Middlemarch as a 19th century novel depicting English society

Water Is An Important Factor That Affects Sorption
Water is an important factor that affects sorption because when there is excess water or when water
drains through soil from sources at the surface, adsorbed pesticide molecules can become unattached,
or desorbed, and wash away to a new location (Rao, 1999). Just as degradation has a measure in the
half life of a compound, sorption also has a measure in the partition coefficient (Koc), which is a ratio
of pesticide concentration in a soil bound state versus dissolved in soil water (Rao, 1999). In fact, the
solubility of a pesticide and its sorption on soil are inversely related; [in other words], increased
solubility results in less sorption (Rao, 1999). Both sorption and degradation are effected by soil type
and pH, both of which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Volatilization is a means of major pesticide loss and its rate of loss can often exceeds that of
degradation, runoff, or leaching (van der Werf, 1996). For example, in an Oregon study, soil samples
64km from any agriculture were found to have DDT residues, and in Saskatchewan, Canada, 20% of
2, 4 D iso octyl ester volatilized in 24 hours (Pimentel, 1995). Once in the atmosphere, pesticide
residues can spread anywhere, even Antarctica (Pimentel, 1995). Large amounts of pesticides and
organic compounds can be transported around the globe in the atmosphere, for example, in the
atmosphere of the Netherlands, the amounts of
BHC, DDT, and heptachlor were reported to be 4600, 1064, and 190 pg/m 3, respectively (Pimentel,
1995).
Topography and Geology Topography and geology affect pesticide movement in as much as directing
or transporting pesticides. Topography is very obvious, for example, if a field is right next to a river, it
is much more likely for runoff to get into the river system, or if a field is in a low area not very far
above the water table, pesticides are very likely to leach into the groundwater. On the other hand, a
field could be high and dry and very far from any river or groundwater, but if it is hilly that can pose
its own problems. As T. Y. Tong and Chen point out, surface runoff is an important source of non point
pollution (Tong and Chen, 2002). Though it was pointed out by van der Werf that volatilization is the
biggest source of

No Parent Child Relationship With Second Temple...
Six out of nineteen texts held topoi providing a possible parent child relationship with Second Temple
apocalyptic work. Further consideration reduced the number to three. Of the texts that remain, The
Ascent of Enmeduranki, the Divine Nomination of Thutmose II, and Plato s Republic (614b), ranked
the strongest. These three sources follow here, respectively.
The Ascent of Enmeduranki
Although no parent child relationship occurred in this text, scholars often posit it as source material
for 1 Enoch; perhaps, a relationship exists through the lens of divinely ordained journeys:

24:1 38:3, and 67 as the final ascension seen in Gen. 5:24). Alongside these similarities, however, are
general distinctions as noted under Topos of Secrecy, and specific distinctions concerning divinely
ordained Journeys.
Enmeduranki s journey authority derives from his presence among deity. By comparison, Enoch s
author wove together multiple authorities: divine presence begins a journey, but includes authority
from cosmology, secrecy, and righteousness. Furthermore, using 1 Enoch 14:8 as an example, the
author provides both setting and method in which Enoch ascends; yet, a close reading shows no
description of the anabasis in Enmeduranki text. These descriptions, however, are present in the
Divine Nomination of Thutmose III.
The Divine Nomination of Thutmose III
The Divine Nomination of Thutmose III concerns his legitimacy as ruler, providing a picture of the
Egyptian enthronement rites:
[He opened for] me the doors of heaven; he spread open for me the portals of its horizon. I flew up to

The Kidnapping Of Patricia Hearst
When actually participating in an event it, you are unable to make a clear unbiased analysis of the
situation. However when there is an outsider in the event can be analyzed from several different
viewpoints and in psychological terms. One historical event that people still question what really
occurred is the kidnapping of Patricia Hearst. Patricia Patty Campbell Hearst, a Berkeley
undergraduate student, on February 4, 1974 at nineteen years of age was kidnapped by a group of men
and women after leaving her beaten fiancé behind (Winter, 2005). This group of men and women
formed the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA), a radical group of domestic terrorists, led by Donald
DeFreeze, with the mission to destroy the capitalist state (Hixson, 2005). The group was formed in
Berkley, California with their main priorities being to end racism, monogamy, the prison system, and
all other institutions that have made and sustained capitalism. (Winter, 2005).
The reason for the kidnapping was for the simple reason that Patricia Hearst was part of a wealthy,
powerful family that would ensure the group attention from the press, which is exactly what occurred.
Hearst s kidnapping made headlines across the country. Local police and FBI searched for her, two
days after the kidnapping on February 6, 1974 a letter was left at a radio station signed by the SLA. It
was a warrant for the arrest of Patricia Campbell Hearst along with her credit card and a warning that

Essay On Schizoaffective
Schizophrenic or schizoaffective: A critical analysis of a popular press article
A diagnosis of childhood onset schizophrenia (COS) is rare. Exactly how rare is unknown as the rate
of prevalence has been reported from 1 in 10,000 to 1 in 40,00 (Sood Kattimani, 2008; Gochman,
Miller, Rapaport, 2011). Regardless of the disorder s prevalence, witnessing a child battle the inner
demons that are frightening even for adults is disturbing. The only distinguishing factor between COS
and schizophrenia is age of onset. If individuals are 18 or younger when they display symptoms, they
will be diagnosed with COS. When someone is so young at age of onset their disorder will be more
severe and will have worse long term outcomes (Mash Wolfe, 2016). When a child is diagnosed with
an uncommon disease like COS it is typically reported in the news. This is the case with Gianni
Cristini who is haunted by scary voices and suicidal thoughts, and has been since he was younger than
4 years old. Because his symptoms were so severe and rare, he was diagnosed with an array of
disorders including autism, depression, and attention deficit disorder. Gianni s diagnosis at the time of
the article was bipolar schizophrenic affective disorder.

schizophrenia; and an individual with schizoaffective disorder will not have social dysfunction

unclear in Lah s article because she has reported the disorder as being schizophrenia, not
schizoaffective. Gianni does not appear to have any problems interacting socially, which further
emphasizes the need for his diagnosis to be schizoaffective

Alexander Calder was one of the most innovative and original American artists of the twentieth
century. In 1926, Calder arrived in Paris and devoted himself to a project called the Circus that
occupied him for over five years. This contains characters and animals made out of wire, scraps of

Teacher assessments are paramount in allowing the teacher to find out what the student requires for
their individual process of learning. Literacy levels need to be diligently assessed, recorded and acted

running record an informal reading inventory, reading logs in a portfolio or a rubric, (University of

Essay on Multiculturalism in Canada
Multiculturalism is the existence of a culturally diversified society where people from different
backgrounds and races come and live together. However an insight of this integrated society reveals
that everyone seems to have a different opinion on the issue of how this diverse community should
operate. One of the countries of North America called the mosaic is Canada. It has earned this distinct
name because of the mix of races, cultures and ethnicities residing in it. Canada s geographical
features and its harsh climate became a disadvantage to its population growth many years ago.
Compared to its size, the population of Canada was not sufficient a few decades ago. However, when

The government of Canada decided that the country could be a mosaic of cultures where people from
different countries could keep their nationalities and still be called canadian therefore allowing an
influx of different cultures. The royal commission came up with the idea of cultural pluralism and
encouraged the government to reflect this in their policies. Pierre Elliot Trudeau, the prime minster in
1917 accepted this policy called the multiculturalism policy. In 1988, the governement of Canada also
imposed the Multiculturalism Act . The factors influencing these two policies/acts were quite similiar
to one another. In mid 1960s, the troubled English French realtions in Canada desperately needed a
solution. They preferred the idea of a cultural mosaic. After establishing this policy racism reduced
significantly as every ethnic group was to be treated the same way, allowing canada to be a cultural
hub. In the context of theory so far everything seems to be working smoothly but the real question that
we need to ask ourself is whether multiculturalism is working in our society or not ? Do we feel
comfortable living amogst all the different kinds of people and are content with our lifestyle? Take
education for an example. A university in North America called Stanford had a program in which the

The Political System And The United Kingdom Essay
The political systems in the United States of America, and the United Kingdom are fairly different due
to several policies. The most predominant difference that could be deducted from their policies is the
difference in selecting their government. The United States base their elections off of what is known
as the Electoral College. The Electoral College is a process that was created by the founding fathers,
written in the Constitution. Not only is it a compromise made between the election of the President by
a vote in Congress, but also the election of the President due to popular vote of eligible citizens. In
total, there are 538 electors that make up the Electoral College. However, for the President to be
elected there is a required majority of 270 electoral votes that need to be won. If you obtain the most
votes within a state, then you will win the seats of that state that help the potential President to get 270
electoral votes. The way in which the number of seats in each state is decided is through
Congressional delegation; there is one for each member of the House of Representatives, and two
others for the Senators. The Electoral College is particularly interesting due to the reason that even if
you win the popular vote, you may not necessarily be elected as President. The most recent example
of this is the 2016 presidential election between democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, and republican
Donald Trump. Clinton did in fact receive more votes than Trump; however,

The Importance Of Music And Language
Music and language share a commonality; the same way phrases are structured in music, can be seen
when thoughts are structured in sentences of different languages. Music plays a role in memory,
auditory attention, and different structures of language, such as the syntax and phonemes, which can
improve on reading and writing skills. Bidelman et al. has shown that when it comes to music and
language, speech pitch processing can differ between musicians and non musicians, where there are
evidence that music can show sensitivity to the pitch sound toward musicians. It can also depend on
musicians who speak foreign languages, which will focus on the influence of domain specific
experience on the encoding of pitch. It can also depend on musical expertise. Rochette et al. has used
musical lessons on deaf children to test if musical education plays a factor on them, since other studies
have shown that music being able to use auditory perception, auditory cognition, and phonetic
discrimination. The results showed that those who were trained acquired the skills more than those
who weren t and is an excellent strategy for increasing linguistic processing. On the emotional side,
Ma and Thompson wanted to show that acoustic environments, such as sounds from human actions,
animal calls, etc. can change human emotions. The hypothesis of music and speech being closely

Marc Chagall
Marc Chagall as an artist and as a person cannot be categorized. He was born in Vitebsk, Russia,
learned to paint in St. Petersburg and lived in Paris, Berlin, and the United States. His career is
influenced by many different factors. His Hasidic Jewish upbringing reflected in the content of his
paintings greatly. The lyrical fairy tales of Jewish mysticism, the stories of the Bible, and the Rabbis
and scholars who surrounded him in his childhood come out onto his work. When he went to art
school in St. Petersburg it was the period when he became exposed to the avant garde movement in
art.

Chagall in order to continue painting used a patterned tablecloth instead of a canvas. He did not
disguise this surface but retained elements of it in his composition. You can see the pattern over the
fiddler s shoulder and on his leg. He has the fiddler floating in mid air with the town below him above
and beside him. The different buildings in the town are arranged in geometric shapes and lines. The
most important thing as in all Chagall compositions is the symbolism. The fiddler symbolizes severa!l
things at once, a memory from Chagall s childhood, from his homeland and on a personal level
himself. His childhood memory was that of his uncle Neuch who didn t play the violin very well but
who was enthusiastic when he played it. Its wider Russian significance is that of the failed revolution
of 1905. The leader of this revolution was a Jewish fiddler named Edouard Sormus, who led workers
through the streets to fight for their rights. Chagall saw himself in the fiddler, a solitary individual,
isolated by the strangeness and mystery of art. The whole build up of the painting reinforces the
poetical dimension of the picture. This painting was important to Chagall. He used the symbol of the
fiddler in other composition, for example The Violinist (1911), and The Green Violinist (1923 24).
Another major work of his, the painting I and the Village (1911 1914) suggests the complexities of
opposition and unity, the confrontation

Essay About Anger
Review of Related Literature
Anger or wrath is an intense emotional response. It is an emotion that involves a strong uncomfortable
and emotional response to a perceived provocation, hurt or threat.
Anger can occur when a person feels their personal boundaries are being or going to be violated.
Some have a learned tendency to react to anger through retaliation as a way of coping.
Anger is used as a protective mechanism to cover up fear, hurt or sadness. Anger becomes the
predominant feeling behaviorally, cognitively, and physiologically when a person makes the conscious
choice to take action to immediately stop the threatening behavior of another outside force.
The external expression of anger can be found in facial expressions, body language, physiological
responses, and at times public acts of aggression. Animals, for example, make loud sounds, attempt to

The Disputes Of Scs ( South China s Sea )
The disputes of SCS (South China s Sea) are a perpetual issue on the conflicting licit claim for
territorial land and who has the authority to sovereign it. The dispute arises, since SCS contains
precious natural resources, which the surrounding nations wish the gain, as it would boost their
economy, as a liberalist would think. However, realistically these resource would provide funding for
more military power, as countries are looking to expand their horizons across the sea. This Great
Debate impacts the world as there is a theoretical aspect of what would occur if a certain nation was

true nature of this dispute over power, since the territory allows nations to create air carrier, therefore

Figure 1. Loggerhead Observed Bycatch. This graph shows data collected on bycatch rates in

Nesting habitat degradation is an anthropogenic threat to the loggerhead sea turtles. These threats
include coastal development, erosion control barriers or beach armoring, artificial lighting, pollution,
removal of native vegetation, and vehicle and pedestrian traffic (NMFS and USFWS 2007). Some
solutions include protecting and managing turtles on nesting beaches, monitor coastal construction,
implement lighting regulations, screen artificial lighting with vegetation, and impose regulations on
beach armoring (NMFS and USFWS 1998). Predation is an important threat to consider in nesting
areas for the loggerhead. Many places have depredation to protect the eggs and hatchlings against
predators such as feral dogs, raccoons, and foxes (NMFS and USFWS 2007).
The future outlook for the loggerhead turtle has been studied using two analyses, one looked at counts
of nesting females and the other analysis was a stage based population model done to look at the
anthropogenic mortalities with respect to the vital rates of the species (Conant et al. 2009). Using

There is no doctor who can heal me. But I know that a man like Pol Pot, he is even sicker than I am.
He is crazy in the head because he believed in killing people. He believed in starving children. We
both have the horror in our heads. Upon the death of Khmer Rouge leader, Pol Pot, in 1998, quoted in
The Times. The Cambodian genocide is the greatest injustice. Between the years of 1975 1979,
complete annihilation happened inside the nation of Cambodia. A socialist named Pol Pot had
assumed control over the administration with his armed force, Khmer Rouge, and was persuaded that
transforming Cambodia into an entirely comrade nation was crucial. The reason to sort out a socialist

needed to make a nation that was missing of rich and taught individuals including poor people. To do
this he disposed of government funded schools, private property, houses of worship, colleges, and
religions. Many kids were taught to hate their mother, father, brothers, and sisters because Pol Pot
wanted them on his side. This way, he was able to stay in control. So, in order to be in control, the
teenagers were made warriors (ages ranged from 13 to 17) and got armed with either AK 47s,
Browning automatic Rifles, or an M60 machine guns.
The Khmer Rouge s police were guided by its conviction that the nationals of Cambodia had been

Human Activities Causes Climate Change Essay
As outlined by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change the recent observable changes in Earth
s climate can be related and linked to human activates in the past few centuries. Our heavy use on
fossil fuels contributed up to 56.6% of the greenhouse gases emitted in 2004 as seen in the figure
below (1).This heavy dependence on fossil fuels has encouraged the use, research and development of
new alternative energy sources such as Coal seam gas (CSG) which have reduced greenhouse gas
emissions. CSG is obtained through drilling into the pores of coal seams then using water to fracture
and open the pores in the coal seams which contain high levels of methane. After this fracturing
process the pressure within the borehole is reduced and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The article also makes note that more data should be collected before CSG boring occurs in an area so
that the environmental effects can be compared and monitored not just after the boring has occurred. A
different study has raised concerns with the salinity levels coming from the aquifers that CSG has to
drill through to obtain the methane gas. In the Murray Darling Basin bores are used to supply water
for irrigational purposes such as crops and cattle. These sub artesian bores have shown that they
contain high amounts of salt in the water and contribute to majority of the above ground salinity
levels.(5) The concern arises as CSG is using and accessing the same bores that contain these high
salinity levels however as previously mentioned CSG extracts vast amounts of water to obtain
methane gas. In the Condamine catchment within the Murray darling it was estimated that with the
amount of water that CSG extracts from the ground that 588000 tons of salt will be contributed to
above ground water levels in a single year as seen in the figure below. As seen in the figure below
CSG would equate for almost 50% of the sources of salt inputs from the aquifers to surface water (5).
The concern with the salt levels in the Murray Darling is being monitored closely as it is a highly
agriculture area and high salinity levels in soils can affect the quality of crops(6).
Reports have also shown concern with the vast amount of chemicals that are used in producing coal

Chitlin s Influence On American Culture
It is with great pleasure that I recommend Shawn Stitt for admission to the graduate program of his
choosing. I first came to know Shawn through an undergraduate course of mine, Folksongs and
Ballads. The course comprised of a diversified look at American culture through folk traditions and
songs, which weaves the appalachian culture in the east, cajun culture in the southwest, and a
widespread look at the effect of the African American diaspora on American culture. Shawn
distinguished himself by submitting an exceptionally well researched and interesting essay on the
influence and communal purpose of the organ throughout American culture that characterized the
intersectionality of music and its communities. His ability to communicate his thesis in a clear,
concise and well researched manner distinguished him from his fellow classmates. Overall, I would
rank him in the 95th percentile of students that I have taught in the past several years in respect of his
writing ability and research skills. Shawn is the first pupil I have given a letter of recommendation for
in my countless years as a tenured professor at the University of Maryland. Moreover, his prominent
research abilities and inquisitive nature in my area of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

empathize with his subject matter. His overall commitment to academia is also reflected in his
outstanding grades for each of the attended classes. His written work is interesting to read and Shawn
was highly proficient in applying the course material to analyzing problems. He always explained his

The Problem Of Deaf Culture
Deaf culture is a way to start this essay. Most people, when they think of deafness, assume that it is
nothing more than a disability. This is erroneous because defining what deaf really means, means
looking past the definition and looking into the heart of a deaf person, to see equality among us all.
Equality among humans isn t controversial, but what is? Cochlear Implantation is controversial.
Inserting an internal disruption of the deaf culture is controversial. Placing an electronic device in
your children s ears because you want them to talk like a normal child is controversial. After having a
very rigorous debate about CI s in my ASL class, I came to the conclusion that out of 30 students,
more than half of them would choose implantation of their young fragile, pure child. Being deaf is
way more than just being able to hear, being deaf is a gift; a family within a family, and implanting a
child a child under your circumstances only shreds the wrapping paper off that gift. Lets jump right
into the positive facts of cochlear implants, because there isn t many. in a very descriptive and
informational article by Ron Kotulak, he mentions that, The implant significantly improve the hearing
of adults in conjunction with speech reading. Benefits have also been observed in children as young as
two. So, it is an unbiased fact that, in some cases, Cochlear Implantation is highly effective and serves
as a great purpose for the treatment of hearing loss. The FDA, Food and

Radiation Quantity And Units Essay
Radiation quantity and units Most scientists in the international community measure radiation using
the System International (SI), a uniform system of weights and measures that evolved from the metric
system. In the United States, however, the conventional system of measurement is still widely used.
2.2.1) Units of Radioactivity:
The original unit for measuring the amount of radioactivity was the curie (Ci) first defined to
correspond to one gram of radium 226 and more recently defined as: 1 curie = 3.7x1010 radioactive
decays per second. In the International System of Units (SI) the curie has been replaced by the
Becquerel (Bq), where One Ci is equal to 37 billion (37 X 109) Bq.
Ci or Bq may be used to refer to the amount of radioactive materials released into the environment.
2.2.2) Radiation exposure unit:
The exposure rate defined as the exposure per unit time. The special unit of exposure is the roentgen
(R) defined as the amount of gamma ray and X ray radiation that produced a charge of 1 electrostatic
unit (esu) of charge per 0.001293 g (1cm3) of dry air at standard temperature and pressure (IAEA,
1989). The SI (stander international) units of exposure are coulomb/Kg of dry air. 1R = 2.58 × 10 4
C/Kg in air
2.2.3) Absorbed dose unit:
Sometimes also known as the physical dose, defined by the amount of energy deposited in a unit mass
in human tissue or other media. The original unit is the rad [100 erg/g]; it is now being widely

Buddhist Meditation Essay
Meditation as a whole and not just Buddhist meditation is a process that a person uses to quiet the
mind and body so one can become away of a higher truth. Meditation has been incorporated in
virtually all religions around the world. Of course not all religions use the actual term meditation , it
can be referred to as praying the rosary and so on. Meditation is not always and does not need to be
associated with religion. There are plenty of people that meditate daily who have no religious
affiliation or even believe in God. Meditation can stand on its own without religion, do to the many
health benefits both physically and psychologically. A successful meditation is when the mind

In Buddhist meditation the mind and body are joined together as one. Through Buddhist meditation
the goal becomes no goal and the mind becomes silent with an increased awareness. Another way of
stating this is, in Buddhist meditation, meditation is performed for the sake of meditation and the
cultivation of wisdom. The purpose of Buddhist meditation is to still the mind and stop the never
ending flow of thoughts we all have. There are several different ways to perform Buddhist meditation.
These Buddhist meditation techniques have been practiced for a long time and are proven to work.
There are no right or wrong places to practice Buddhist meditation. It has been shown that when
Buddhist meditation is practiced in a group that the meditation experience is much deeper. It is also
known that when Buddhist meditation is practiced in the same place at the same time the meditation
becomes deeper much faster. Of course these things are not required, but will only aid the meditator in
the practice of Buddhist

Anthem Protest Analysis
Protesting an opinion should not be done at the expense of a celebration of a country s unity. The NHL
should continue to discourage anthem protests as demonstrated by J.T. Brown, a Tampa Bay Lightning
player who raised his hand during the national anthem October 8th, 2017. Anthem protests are not
only disrespectful towards veterans who fought for our freedom, but protesting in an arena is an
inappropriate venue to express your personal opinion when all ages internationally are watching. As a
team, you should all decide together whether or not you are going to participate as a collective group
in a protest because it can create conflict within the team. The national anthem is one of many
symbols which remind us of the millions of soldiers who died for our freedom. When hockey players
such as J.T Brown use this time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Canada and the United States are fortunate to have the rights and freedoms that we have, which were
fought for us by veterans. Secondly, the hockey players use their popularity to demonstrate their
personal opinion, where they have a captive audience of thousands to millions of viewers. Hockey
fans can range from young children to seniors and everyone is able to see what the athletes choose to
do on the ice and during the national anthem. The arena is an inappropriate venue to express a political
opinion because fans, specifically younger viewers, can misinterpret the message, and refuse to stand
during the national anthem at school. Without understanding the purpose of the protest, the child
would think they are modeling after their sports hero/icon. Finally, as a team player, you should all
decide as a team whether or not you are going to participate as a collective group in the protest
because if some players are protesting and some are not, it shows division and disconnection within
the team itself. A protest can jeopardize a team s moral and cohesiveness. In addition, teams need to

The Aspects Of Roman Life Regarding Music
The feelings that the Ancient Romans had towards music could be described as ambivalent. They
admired it and at the same time, they condemned it. Music, nevertheless, played a role in Roman
society that, as time passed, became less and less important to the Romans. As a result, much of the
information about music in Ancient Rome has been lost in time. However what has been discovered
about this topic is quite fascinating, in spite of what it is lacking. The subsequent paragraphs will
explain some of the aspects of Roman life regarding music. This includes the history of music in
Ancient Rome, the instruments that the Romans played, the uses of music in their society and the
impact that music in Rome has had on the music of today. The Romans were not the most innovative
of ancient cultures when it came to music, as it wasn t held to the same importance in Rome as it was
in other cultures. Regardless, the Romans did very much enjoy music and admire its use in other
cultures. And so, instead of creating a Roman version of music, they borrowed the musical
instruments and musical theory from those other cultures. One of them was Etruscans. Though the fact
that the Etruscans had an impact on music in Rome is known, the magnitude of that impact is
unknown, but instruments used in Roman life such as the tuba and the cornu are believed to have been
borrowed from the Etruscans. However, it was the Greeks that had the greatest influence on Roman
music. A multitude of instruments used

Rhetorical Analysis Of Disney s Frozen
Rhetorical Analysis: Disney s Frozen
Walt Disney Productions prestige is to never disappoint and their latest movie Frozen, is no exception.
The movie centers around the lives of two sisters, kind hearted Anna and the frightened Snow Queen
Elsa. Fearless Anna sets off on a journey to find her sister, who flees to an icy mountain after she
accidentally traps the kingdom of Arendelle in an eternal winter with her ice powers. Disney s 2013
animated film reeled in its target audience and more; the film intended to appeal to children s of all
ages surprisingly enough enticed a wider audience largely comprised of non families. Disney s
reputation for promoting happiness and the well being of American families led to the direct success
of the movie Frozen. The film met its purpose, depicting a touching storyline showing the importance
of family and undermining the traditional concept of true love. Furthermore, Walt Disney Productions
established sufficient credibility within its viewers and audience with the use of artistic proofs such as;
ethos, logos, and pathos. Disney s tradition is to provide the audience with an educational piece of
entertainment, Frozen is undeniably one of those Disney animated films worth seeing. Walt Disney
Productions strategic use of rhetoric made it evident that the movie was going to be an all time hit
some may even say the biggest children s film of all time simply because it was just that, a Disney
movie.
Frozen became the heart melting,

Don Juan Canto X Essay
Don Juan: Canto X is the tenth chapter of Lord George Gordon Byron s poem Don Juan. The poem
was written in London, England, or what is today known as Westminster, London, UK. Don Juan is a
controversial poem following the life of the titular character, unique in that it was originally published
anonymously so as to spare the author the expected backlash. Don Juan was given a sheltered
upbringing as a child, but as he reached adolescence he awoke to mature needs and seduces a married
woman. Rather than portray this sin as a grievous deed, Byron portrays it in an almost comedic light
and then proceeds to follow Don Juan on his increasingly ridiculous adult adventures. This was a
shocking poem that likely took aback the admittedly prudish English ... Show more content on

In this chapter of the storyline, Don Juan has spent some time in Russia under the hospitality of
Catherine the Great, earning a large monetary fortune and great social status. He writes to his mother
to relate his successes, but despite his alleged happiness, he falls ill for unexplained reasons. A change
of climate is recommended, so Catherine reluctantly sends him on a diplomatic mission to England.
He travels with his pseudo adopted orphan Leila and a group of subordinates to reach London,
impressing those he meets in various countries along the way. It is once the party reaches London that
Byron finally expresses all his critical sentiments against his hometown. Byron first mocks the English
values of respectability when he describes the state that Juan made his arrival in: Juan, though
careless, young, and magnificent, / And rich in rubles, diamond, cash, and credit, / Who did not limit
much his bills per week... (Byron X.553 554). Juan was acting as a diplomat for Russia s ruler, so he
must have been seen as a man of high standing among the people of London. To this end, Catherine
granted him a fortune and transformed him from a poor boy into a wealthy young man. Through this
development and the ensuing extravagance described, Byron implies that men were judged in

  • 2. Analysis Of Maria De Garcia De Marquez Finding out a family member has a disease and that it s a mental one, is devastating. Mental problems don t just destroy the individual, but the entire family. Until recently, we came across something known as delusions of persecution. We immediately started seeking for answers only to find out my great aunt, Maria de Jesus Carbajal de Marquez, has been suffering from delusions of persecution for the past three years. Never in a million years did we think that one of our family members would suffer from this mental disease. Whenever a person falsely believes they are being conspired against by others is called delusions of persecution. An example of delusions of persecution would be that the government is spying on an individual (e.g. tapping their phone lines) because they were wrongfully identified as a terrorist ( Specific Themes of Delusions ). There are four general types of delusions: bizarre delusions, non bizarre delusions, mood congruent delusions, and mood neutral delusions. Moreover, there are specific types of themes of delusions. These themes range from: control (believing another person is able to control your brain) to grandeur (believing that you are God) to mind reading (believing others can read your mind) ( Specific Themes of Delusion ). For example, delusions of persecution is a theme that has eight different types of sub themes: attacked, cheated, conspired against, followed, harassment, obstructed, poisoned, and spied upon, ( Specific Themes ... • 3. Eugene O’neill and the the Rebirth of Tragedy a... Eugene Gladstone O Neill is one of the greatest American playwrights, he is known for plays such as Long Day s Journey into Night , Beyond the Horizon (1920), Anna Christie (1922), Strange Interlude (1928), Mourning Becomes Electra (1931)and The Iceman Cometh (1946). His plays probe the American Dream, race relations, class conflicts, sexuality, human aspirations and psychoanalysis. He often became immersed in the modernist movements of his time as he primarily sought to create modern American drama that would rival the great works of European modernists such as Ibsen, Strindberg and G.B. Shaw. O Neill was a great admirer of classical theatre and as a young man he had read Friedrich Nietzsche s work about the origin of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is remarkable how O Neill contrives to preserve the Chorus, which is a fundamental element of the Greek tragedy. Although it is not as dramatic as the tragic Chorus of the classical Greek plays, each and every of the three parts of Mourning Becomes Electra begins with the performance of a chorus formed of different men and women that comment upon the Mannons, the history of their family, revealing to the audience details about the behavior and the character of the heroes. Moreover, the setting chosen by O Neill is similar to the classical one used by the Greeks. It is known that in Aeschylus times a wooden wall was used as a background of the setting, the wall usually stood for a palace or a temple and this exactly the same as in O Neill s trilogy, as the greatest part of the action takes place in front of the Mannon s residence which is described as being an enormous stone mansion that has the aspect of a Greek temple(the temple of god Apollo) with a white wooden portico, with six tall columns [2]. However that was the typical construction for a house that belonged to an American aristocratic family in the XIX century. In Mourning Becomes Electra , O Neill brought into consonance the fundamental traits of the Greek tragedy and the specific elements of modern theatre, thus creating a ... • 4. Gertrude s Treatment Of Women In Hamlet The role and treatment of women throughout Hamlet causes the play to come across as misogynistic and outdated. There are only two women introduced to the audience in the play, one being the incestuous Gertrude and the other, naïve and weak Ophelia. Hamlet, having felt betrayed by his Mother, becomes cynical about all women in general. He becomes obsessed with female sexuality, and the obsolete idea that women should remain pure until marriage. Shakespeare portrays women as weak and dirty creatures that men should be weary of, however easy it may be to manipulate them. In Hamlet s agony over his father s death, he feels betrayed by Gertrude due to the fact that instead of offering comfort she re marries to Hamlets uncle. The audience becomes ... • 5. Food Stamp Program Benefits The food stamp program was instituted to ensure that people are no longer are going hungry in America. Since The Food Stamp Act came into effect in the year 1964. Obesity seems to be more prevalent in participants of this food program. Obesity does not discriminate, although it does appear to affect lower income women that participate in the Food Stamp Program. As written by Gibson (2008) Participation in the Food Stamp Program by low income women was associated with a 9.0% increase in the probability of current obesity (as cited by Zhu,Yen,Eastwood, 2005). More people are inclined to be more obese now than ever before; there are 30% or 6 million of adults that are categorized as obese in the United States (Collins, 2007). The rate is for ... At present, benefits are distributed once a month. One of the programs that are being discussed are the possibility of dividing up the SNAP benefit payment to twice a month, As quoted by Bhargava (2004) and Shapiro (2005) To break the food stamp cycle some researcher propose distributing SNAP benefits more often than the monthly schedule (as quoted by Richards, Sindelar, 2013). One hope for the indicated would be too encouraging increased fruits and vegetables to be purchased to produce a healthier eating pattern during the entire month. Hence, the curbing of high calorie foods are thought to generate obesity. The option also comes with problems. Some participants have no genuine incentive to improve their eating practices, and in store purchases and personal influence remain (Richards, Sindelar, 2013). Some participants feel they need to be rewarded for buying healthy, fresh foods with their snap benefits. An option that would provide an incentive for every purchase of fresh fruits and vegetables a reimbursement of SNAP cash will be added to the benefit card. The benefit will be added on toward the end of the month. Giving people the opportunity to buy additional groceries. Even with this option when the added benefits are placed on the SNAP the recipients can then proceed to purchase the sugar based drinks of their choice. This program would not eliminate the purchasing of sugar based ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Physical weathering is the breakdown of rocks and minerals without changing the chemical composition. Examples of physical weathering include frost wedging, biological activity/root weathering, mining/burrowing, exfoliation, and abrasion. Chemical weathering is the breakdown of rocks into smaller pieces by changing the chemical composition of the sediments. The acidic ground water was necessary due to the fact that pure water could not dissolve the limestone and marble. The acidic ground water absorbed some carbon dioxide from the air and the decaying vegetation located in the soil and formulated carbonic acid. There is water that seeps into the cave at a slower rate. The acid is weak but it is able to dissolve the bedrock above the cave and is able to redeposit the minerals, which in this case is calcite, on the floors, ceilings, and walls of the Lehman Caves in the form of cave decorations (3). • 7. Desire In Thou Blind Man s Mark By Sir Philip Sidney In Sir Philip Sidney s sonnet, Thou Blind Man s Mark, the speaker describes his personal experience with the vice of desire. Buy expressing the abstract and hazardous nature of desire it becomes evident that the speaker acknowledges both his disdain for the subject and his struggle to overcome it. The initial quatrain builds the idea of the blind man s mark, known as desire, with the speaker presenting progressively derogatory comments about it. By addressing desire as the blind man s mark the speaker implies that those who succumb to it are unaware of themselves doing so, since blindness represents a lack of perception. Adding to this notion, the speaker continues to call desire fond fancy s scum, and dregs of scattered thought to engrain the fleeting an trite nature the subject possesses. This list of insults climaxes in the final line of the quatrain, where the speaker states that the ultimate danger of the convoluted web of will is its perpetuity, since its end is never wrought; because it spirals on without an individuals critically analyzing their actions. ... • 8. Summary Of Love Stories By Inhorn I think the most significant point is to understand that what we hear from the media and other sources of news about the culture of the Middle East and notions like polygamy, arranged marriage, and lack of romantic love between couples is exaggerated and sometimes not true. Inhorn in the article Love Stories explains a case of a Syrian couple who have to travel to Beirut to receive an egg donation. The couple have been married for 17 years, but they were unable to have children because the wife is infertile. Egg donation is against their religion, and they have not told their families about it. Although the husband, Hatam, has been under pressure by his family to divorce his wife, or marry a second wife, he refuses because he loves his wife. Inhorn uses this ... She argues that arranged marriage is not a form of forced marriage, in fact it is based on the fact that couples would develop companionship and romantic love over time. In addition, she debates that polygamy, which is also another issue targeted by West, is not prevalent in the Middle East and only 5% of the population practice polygamy. • 10. Forms Of Sexual Hypocrisy In George Eliot s Middlemarch The 19th century literature depicts the bodily desire largely rather than being enunciated explicitly. The forms of love and desire in this era has philosophical, historical and aesthetic contexts. Visual arts and literature has shaped love in this time. The Victorian period on one hand where publicly used to have a respectable discussion on sexuality, on the other hand had undeniable modesty in matters of speech, gesture and clothing. There was once a society which is still held above all others to be the paradigm of sexual hypocrisy. An ostensibly, even ostentatiously virtuous society which furtively broke its own rules of conduct; a society which had nothing to say on sexual matters but left them but left them to the professionals. The summary image of Victorian Society is extraordinarily tenacious. The novel Middlemarch written by George Eliot (1871 1872) enjoyed immense popularity as it dominated the European Literature in the 18th century. Eliot showcases social values and personal importance by theorizing desire in her novel. The scene between Dorothea Brooke and Will Ladislaw in the library at Ludwick, that scene which lends itself to a dynamic representative reading to desire s function in Eliot s work. • 11. Water Is An Important Factor That Affects Sorption Water is an important factor that affects sorption because when there is excess water or when water drains through soil from sources at the surface, adsorbed pesticide molecules can become unattached, or desorbed, and wash away to a new location (Rao, 1999). Just as degradation has a measure in the half life of a compound, sorption also has a measure in the partition coefficient (Koc), which is a ratio of pesticide concentration in a soil bound state versus dissolved in soil water (Rao, 1999). In fact, the solubility of a pesticide and its sorption on soil are inversely related; [in other words], increased solubility results in less sorption (Rao, 1999). Both sorption and degradation are effected by soil type and pH, both of which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Volatilization is a means of major pesticide loss and its rate of loss can often exceeds that of degradation, runoff, or leaching (van der Werf, 1996). For example, in an Oregon study, soil samples 64km from any agriculture were found to have DDT residues, and in Saskatchewan, Canada, 20% of 2, 4 D iso octyl ester volatilized in 24 hours (Pimentel, 1995). Once in the atmosphere, pesticide residues can spread anywhere, even Antarctica (Pimentel, 1995). Large amounts of pesticides and organic compounds can be transported around the globe in the atmosphere, for example, in the atmosphere of the Netherlands, the amounts of BHC, DDT, and heptachlor were reported to be 4600, 1064, and 190 pg/m 3, respectively (Pimentel, 1995). Topography and Geology Topography and geology affect pesticide movement in as much as directing or transporting pesticides. Topography is very obvious, for example, if a field is right next to a river, it is much more likely for runoff to get into the river system, or if a field is in a low area not very far above the water table, pesticides are very likely to leach into the groundwater. On the other hand, a field could be high and dry and very far from any river or groundwater, but if it is hilly that can pose its own problems. As T. Y. Tong and Chen point out, surface runoff is an important source of non point pollution (Tong and Chen, 2002). Though it was pointed out by van der Werf that volatilization is the biggest source of ... Further consideration reduced the number to three. Of the texts that remain, The Ascent of Enmeduranki, the Divine Nomination of Thutmose II, and Plato s Republic (614b), ranked the strongest. These three sources follow here, respectively. The Ascent of Enmeduranki Although no parent child relationship occurred in this text, scholars often posit it as source material for 1 Enoch; perhaps, a relationship exists through the lens of divinely ordained journeys: Enmeduranki [king of Sippar], the beloved of Anu, Enlil [and Ea]. Alongside these similarities, however, are general distinctions as noted under Topos of Secrecy, and specific distinctions concerning divinely ordained Journeys. Enmeduranki s journey authority derives from his presence among deity. By comparison, Enoch s author wove together multiple authorities: divine presence begins a journey, but includes authority from cosmology, secrecy, and righteousness. Furthermore, using 1 Enoch 14:8 as an example, the author provides both setting and method in which Enoch ascends; yet, a close reading shows no description of the anabasis in Enmeduranki text. These descriptions, however, are present in the Divine Nomination of Thutmose III. The Divine Nomination of Thutmose III The Divine Nomination of Thutmose III concerns his legitimacy as ruler, providing a picture of the Egyptian enthronement rites: [He opened for] me the doors of heaven; he spread open for me the portals of its horizon. • 13. The Kidnapping Of Patricia Hearst When actually participating in an event it, you are unable to make a clear unbiased analysis of the situation. However when there is an outsider in the event can be analyzed from several different viewpoints and in psychological terms. One historical event that people still question what really occurred is the kidnapping of Patricia Hearst. Patricia Patty Campbell Hearst, a Berkeley undergraduate student, on February 4, 1974 at nineteen years of age was kidnapped by a group of men and women after leaving her beaten fiancé behind (Winter, 2005). This group of men and women formed the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA), a radical group of domestic terrorists, led by Donald DeFreeze, with the mission to destroy the capitalist state (Hixson, 2005). The group was formed in Berkley, California with their main priorities being to end racism, monogamy, the prison system, and all other institutions that have made and sustained capitalism. (Winter, 2005). The reason for the kidnapping was for the simple reason that Patricia Hearst was part of a wealthy, powerful family that would ensure the group attention from the press, which is exactly what occurred. Hearst s kidnapping made headlines across the country. Local police and FBI searched for her, two days after the kidnapping on February 6, 1974 a letter was left at a radio station signed by the SLA. • 15. Essay On Schizoaffective Schizophrenic or schizoaffective: A critical analysis of a popular press article A diagnosis of childhood onset schizophrenia (COS) is rare. Exactly how rare is unknown as the rate of prevalence has been reported from 1 in 10,000 to 1 in 40,00 (Sood Kattimani, 2008; Gochman, Miller, Rapaport, 2011). Regardless of the disorder s prevalence, witnessing a child battle the inner demons that are frightening even for adults is disturbing. The only distinguishing factor between COS and schizophrenia is age of onset. If individuals are 18 or younger when they display symptoms, they will be diagnosed with COS. When someone is so young at age of onset their disorder will be more severe and will have worse long term outcomes (Mash Wolfe, 2016). When a child is diagnosed with an uncommon disease like COS it is typically reported in the news. This is the case with Gianni Cristini who is haunted by scary voices and suicidal thoughts, and has been since he was younger than 4 years old. The most predominant difference that could be deducted from their policies is the difference in selecting their government. The United States base their elections off of what is known as the Electoral College. The Electoral College is a process that was created by the founding fathers, written in the Constitution. Not only is it a compromise made between the election of the President by a vote in Congress, but also the election of the President due to popular vote of eligible citizens. In total, there are 538 electors that make up the Electoral College. However, for the President to be elected there is a required majority of 270 electoral votes that need to be won. If you obtain the most votes within a state, then you will win the seats of that state that help the potential President to get 270 electoral votes. The way in which the number of seats in each state is decided is through Congressional delegation; there is one for each member of the House of Representatives, and two others for the Senators. The Electoral College is particularly interesting due to the reason that even if you win the popular vote, you may not necessarily be elected as President. It would be ridiculous to tip your teacher for them doing their job. We wouldn t treat professionals like this, so why do we treat waiters and waitresses like this? With our current way of using tips as a way of rewarding the server is degrading because they are experts at serving multiple people a day and they are paid low wages with an insignificant amount of tips for their professionalism. The Disputes Of Scs ( South China s Sea ) The disputes of SCS (South China s Sea) are a perpetual issue on the conflicting licit claim for territorial land and who has the authority to sovereign it. The dispute arises, since SCS contains precious natural resources, which the surrounding nations wish the gain, as it would boost their economy, as a liberalist would think. The article also makes note that more data should be collected before CSG boring occurs in an area so that the environmental effects can be compared and monitored not just after the boring has occurred. A different study has raised concerns with the salinity levels coming from the aquifers that CSG has to drill through to obtain the methane gas. In the Murray Darling Basin bores are used to supply water for irrigational purposes such as crops and cattle. These sub artesian bores have shown that they contain high amounts of salt in the water and contribute to majority of the above ground salinity levels.(5) The concern arises as CSG is using and accessing the same bores that contain these high salinity levels however as previously mentioned CSG extracts vast amounts of water to obtain methane gas. In the Condamine catchment within the Murray darling it was estimated that with the amount of water that CSG extracts from the ground that 588000 tons of salt will be contributed to above ground water levels in a single year as seen in the figure below. As seen in the figure below CSG would equate for almost 50% of the sources of salt inputs from the aquifers to surface water (5). This is erroneous because defining what deaf really means, means looking past the definition and looking into the heart of a deaf person, to see equality among us all. Equality among humans isn t controversial, but what is? Cochlear Implantation is controversial. Inserting an internal disruption of the deaf culture is controversial. Placing an electronic device in your children s ears because you want them to talk like a normal child is controversial. After having a very rigorous debate about CI s in my ASL class, I came to the conclusion that out of 30 students, more than half of them would choose implantation of their young fragile, pure child. Being deaf is way more than just being able to hear, being deaf is a gift; a family within a family, and implanting a child a child under your circumstances only shreds the wrapping paper off that gift. Lets jump right into the positive facts of cochlear implants, because there isn t many. in a very descriptive and informational article by Ron Kotulak, he mentions that, The implant significantly improve the hearing of adults in conjunction with speech reading.
