Fishing on Eagle Lake Essay
The mid May morning that Blaine, Roger and I set out on our annual fishing trip to Eagle Lake
in the Allagash Waterway was bright and clear. The Ice on the lake had just gone out and it
brought the promise of early season Brook Trout fishing. Eagle Lake, remote and unspoiled, is
reached only by boat via the portage station at Indian Stream, and the lone building on the shores
of the lake is the Ranger s cabin. When we drove into the parking lot at the portage station, I
noticed the game warden examining a fiery red pickup. We got out and stretched, and then Roger
said to the warden, Hey, how s the fishing? He spun around as if startled and said, I d tell you if I
knew, but I don t know anything. The owner of this truck hasn t... Show more content on

Soper Brook is a thing of true beauty. On both banks of the stream, the trees hang down as if
they are protecting something. As we were paddling back, I happened to look into the woods
and saw a shadowy figure peering at us; it was a dark figure observing our every move. I yelled
to Blaine and Roger to look, but as soon as they gandered over the shadowy figure had
disappeared within the densely wooded area. I must have been imagining things, I thought to
myself. On our way back to the campsite, we noticed something amiss. Adjacent to our
campsite, a massive fire was roaring. The thick gray smoke from the fire was billowing into the
sky, hovering over a good portion of the lower lake. The smoke danced as the wind pushed it
around. Ranger s going to have a heart attack when he sees that, Blaine sneered. We needed fresh
water and there was a spring at the mouth of Soper Brook. While Roger and I watched the smoke
billow into the sky, Blaine went and got a jug of fresh water from the spring. When Blaine
returned to our canoe, he looked confused. There s a bunch of blue tarps up there, it looks like a
shanty of some sort, Blaine said. You guys want to go check it out? Can we wait until tomorrow?

Essay about The Flood of Noah and the Flood of Gilgamesh
Myths, some parts speculated to be true and many not, have always been part of our lives.
However, as one glances across the different myths of different cultures, one can find that some
portion of two different myths can be eerily similar to each other, causing one to speculate whether
they have made contact with one another long time ago in history. This led to the question that
people constantly try to prove: do myths that have overlapping ideas verify actual historical truths
and similar culture between origins of myths? Almost all myths around the world have the
particular section on the Great Flood. It has been universal, indicating that at some point in their
lifetime, all of the cultures experienced a flood that almost wiped... Show more content on

In the six hundredth year of Noah s life, on the seventeenth day of the second month on that day
all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened. And
rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights. Pairs of all creatures that have the breath of life
in them came to Noah and entered the ark. The animals going in were male and female of every
living thing, as God had commanded Noah. Then the Lord shut him in. For forty days the flood
kept coming on earth, and as the waters increased they lifted the ark high above the earth. The
water rose and increased greatly on the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the water.
They rose greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered.
The waters rose and covered the mountains to a depth of more than twenty feet. Every living
thing on the face of the earth was wiped out; men and animals and the creatures that move along
the ground and the birds of the air were wiped from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those with
him in the ark. These verses of the Genesis helps people to understand the ferocity of the flood at
that time, but also offers many questions. Did it truly happen? Did it really cover entire earth?
These questions overtime has been researched and some parts of them were answered. However,
the water covering the entire world is

The Economics of Baseball Essay
The Economics of Baseball The economics of baseball has grown since the beginning and has
become more complicated every year. Baseball players are now making millions of dollars to do
something that they love and enjoy. It s not their fault the money they can receive has reached
the million mark, even for some of the less talent of ball players. This has happened to all sports,
but especially to the American pastime. Baseball is more of a business than just a game and many
things have made it this way. A lot of reasons have contributed to the rising salaries there is today
and it will not stop there. The amount of baseball contracts will keep rising each year. One of the

Many people believed he was crazy to spend this much money on one player, but Tom Schieffer
stated that Hicks has a good understanding of the economics of sports (Rangers). Alex Rodriguez
is just one example of this growing business and many other ball players are getting paid an
unreasonable amount. Most teams to take care of this have raised ticket prices. Two thirds of
the thirty teams in MLB have raised the cost of a ticket for the 2001 season. Baseball tickets are
the cheapest among professional sports, but they re catching up(MLB). The average ticket in
2000 was 16.65 dollars, according to Team Marketing Report(MLB). Now, it costs a fan twenty
dollars for a bleacher seat at Wrigley Field , 31 dollars to watch the Yankees from the cheap
seats, and forty to sit in the grandstands at Fenway Park(MLB). The rise in ticket prices has
contributed to the rise in the cost to have a baseball player play for your team. Many teams are
coming up with other ways to be able to pay these high priced athletes without leaving out the
normal fan. Several teams have increased premium seating and are offering special packages for
people and corporate entertainers, who have money to spend. For example, the L.A. Dodgers have
not raised ticket prices but offer a Dugout Club seat behind home plate for 225 dollars(MLB). More

Any Kind Checks and HDC Status Essay
Andres Bocanegra
MBA 610 Q2285
January 4, 2015
6 3: Short Paper Any Kind Checks and HDC Status
Several factors come into play when considering the fairness of the court s ruling in this case. We
have to look at whether Any Kind Checks Cashed acted reasonably in accepting a negotiable item
from the payee. We also have to consider why the payee used the services of a check cashing
establishment in the course of conducting his business. Also, it is important to review the
provisions that should be met when an entity tries to assert a protection as a holder in due course.
Was Any Kind Checks an HDC in this case? This depends on what responsibility they had in
accepting the negotiable instrument from Mr. Guarino. Did they exercise due ... Show more content

Any Kind Checks did not have prior notice of the check being dishonored by Mr. Talcott when
Guarino attempted to cash it. However, because of its value, they show that they had reason to
contact the maker for approval. It is also reasonable for Any Kind to take Mr. Guarino s actions
as suspect. As is pointed out in the brief, why would a small business owner, particularly one
who is a broker of investments, utilize a check cashing business for this transaction rather than a
traditional financial institution? This question in and of itself should give cause for concern to
Any Kind considering their policy that any check over $2,000 requires approval. A revision to
Article 3 of the UCC added a provision for not only honesty in fact, but also for the observance of
reasonable commercial standards of fair dealing. Because a reasonable party could reasonably
consider Guarino s actions as suspect, and outside of the commercial standards of fair dealing, the
burden of proof is significantly higher in showing good faith and fairness toward all parties
(including the maker of the instrument).
We have another example in this situation to look at when analyzing if Any Kind took such care in
this case. When attempting to cash the second check, Any Kind felt it was necessary to speak with
the Maker prior to taking action. Any Kind would not cash the check for Guarino without speaking
with Mr. Talcott. Once they received approval from Talcott, and were not advised of any action

Racial Inequality During The Middle Ages Essay
I cannot think of a topic that is more controversial, and unsettling than race. The idea of race
began in the middle ages, but really starting taking foot when the America s were discovered.
Since our country was discovered, there has always been racial inequality. In colonial times
Africans were used as slaves, and the Native Americans (the ones who inhabited our country first)
were pushed away to reservations to make room for the white people. Skipping ahead a couple of
decades to the Holocaust. Jew s were widely executed because they did not fit Hitlers standard of
a perfect person, (white). In current times, there is still racial inequality, but the minority
population is rising, and rallying for equality. Being considered a white person in the United
States is almost a blessing. White people are automatically given a certain amount of white
privilege once they are born. When walking down the street, applying for a job, or university
there are very little obstacles a white person will face. A non white person is seen as threatening
walking down the street, and less likely to get a job, or into a university than a white person.
When a white man walks into a room people will just call him a guy, but if a black man walks
into a room people will automatically refer to him as a black guy . This has nothing to do with
how he is dressed, how he talks, or how he behaves, but all on the color of his skin. In the U.S.,
we are brought up to believe white is natural, and if

David is a marble statue seen as a nude male and is 17 feet tall. The sculpture is in Florence Italy in
Galleria dell Accademia. This sculpture took Michelangelo three years to complete and was
finished in 1504. David is the first nude standing sculpture in a thousand years and is a symbol
of Florence. Michelangelo is thought to believe that he borrowed the idea from the Greek and
the Hellenistic Era to build a nude sculpture. David represents victory and a hero. As seen in the
sculpture, Michelangelo uses the technique of contrapposto that was used in Greek art and
Hellenistic art. David is putting more weight on one foot than another and that creates the twist
off with his hips and legs. The slingshot that David is holding represents a weapon that he used to
defeat Goliath. The whole story that comes with the sculpture is Goliath was seemed as
impossible to defeat but David comes around and defeats Goliath with a slingshot and beheads
him. The lines and the detail that Michelangelo put in represents the use of geometry/math.
Rather than being relaxed, David s face is tight and looks like he is ready for battle. His eyes are

Factors Of An Investment Bank Client
Introduction
The purpose of this composition is to supply, in a form suitable for laymen, guidance in developing
a better understanding of the meaning behind financial market anomaly and its implications on the
established assumption that markets are rational. It is vital for an investment bank client to be
aware of the large amount of controversial evidence challenging traditional hypotheses of asset
pricing bahaviour and, primarily, to become sensitive to investment strategies predicting likely
abnormal returns. In order to participate intelligently in the equity market, one should, in any case,

Furthermore, attention will then be paid to a thorough evaluation of theories regarding probable
reasons behind the weekend effect and its likely significance to both academics and practitioners.
Ultimately and based on all key discoveries, this composition will then investigate the anomaly s
degree of persistence following its discovery whilst re emphasising the importance of a deep
understanding of unusual stock market return behaviour.
Definitions
Before looking at the weekend effect in more detail, it is essential to understand what the term
anomaly actually refers to. According to Schwert (2002, p. 940), anomalies can be understood as
empirical results that seem to be inconsistent with maintained theories of asset pricing behavior
and reveal either market inefficiency (profit opportunities) or inadequacies in the underlying asset
pricing model. Moreover, the weekend effect, also known as Monday or day of the week effect,
embodies a supposed calendar anomaly that is any consistent pattern or irregularity occurring at a
repeated interval or at a certain time in a calendar year and has been defined as the phenomenon
that the Monday (close Friday to close Monday) stock returns, on average, are less than returns on
any other day of

Internsment And Japanese Internment Camps

Claim For years, people have argued over whether Japanese Internment camps( interment means
putting a person in prison or other kind of detention, generally in wartime. During World War II, the
American government put Japanese Americans in internment camps, fearing they might be loyal to
Japan.) are an Americanized version of concentration camps. Some say that the Japanese Internment
camps were just as brutal and inhumane as concentration camps in Nazi Germany. Others will tell
you they were completely different, and I argue the same. The concentration camps and Japanese

Reason 2 Another reason that the concentration camps and Japanese Internment camps are
completely different is because the motive behind creating the camps was incompareable. Japanese
internment camps were created because the United States was scared of connections Japanese
Americans might have to the enemy, and the feared for the safety of the country. On the
contrary, concentration camps were created out because of Hitler s pure hatred for the jews.
When Hell asked Hitler what he intended doing if he ever had full freedom of action against the
Jews, his response was: If I am ever really in power, the destruction of the Jews will be my first
and most important job. As soon as I have power, I shall have gallows after gallows erected, for
example, in Munich on the Marienplatz as many of them as traffic allows. Then the Jews will be
hanged one after another, and they will stay hanging until they stink. They will stay hanging as
long as hygienically possible. As soon as they are untied, then the next group will follow and that
will continue until the last Jew in Munich is exterminated. Exactly the same procedure will be
followed in other cities until Germany is cleansed of the last Jew! (quoted in John Toland, Adolf

Engineering Performance-Based Fire Codes
Preliminary views on implementing Engineering Performance Based Fire Codes in Hong Kong:
What should be done? Abstract Engineering performance based fire codes (EPBFC) are to be
developed in Hong Kong. Before implementing EPBFC, or even writing down what should be
done, such as the fire safety objectives, current prescriptive fire codes should be understood. This
will be a very big project to be tackled step by step, certainly not regarded as a normal
consultancy project which can be completed within a short period of, say three years. Key points
on suitability of implementing EPBFC in Hong Kong, or preserving prescriptive codes but with
active updating are discussed. Approaches used overseas are... Show more content on

In fact, before deciding whether to stick to prescriptive codes with active updating or to use
EPBFC, well planned long term investigational works should be carried out. This should also be
a life long research project for upgrading the code to solve new problems encountered. This was
well recognized by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). There, EPBFC has been
studied since 1995 with some support of Area of Strategic Development: Construction Industry
Development Studies and Research Centre. A journal [37] reporting the development, problems
encountered, scientific principles, engineering judgements and practical examples was established.
It appears that if EPBFC is applied properly by experts with good training in fire safety
engineering such as those holding PhD degrees, and with practical engineering experience up to
Chartered Engineer status, the following can be achieved as reported in the literature [13 34]: в†ђ
Better fire safety provisions than described in the older versions of prescriptive codes for both
passive and active fire safety measures [18]. в†ђ Regulations requiring systems that might not work
in a fire or even give adverse effect can be pointed out and updated. The requirements of installing
sprinkler at high headroom atrium and in escape staircases are obvious examples. This is similar
to imposing the local speed limit of 50 km per hour in downtown areas where almost all drivers
will not pay attention to!

What Is Self Reliance By Ralph Waldo Emerson
Ralph Waldo Emerson s Self Reliance Different philosophers have advanced varying argument
pertaining to the relationship between the individual and society. While many of them have
attempted to establish a connection between the two entities, Emerson, a transcendentalist
philosopher takes a different perspective. In his essay titled Self Reliance, he insists that people
should trust themselves and break the rules that have been established by the society. In order to
achieve this, Emerson suggests that individuals should seek to follow their own instincts and avoid
the dictations that have been imposed by culture or religion. In his discussion, clearly structured
arguments on travel and society are vivid. His arguments revolve around the proposition that
change in the society does not take place in a desirable manner, rather people are ignorant to note
the detriments that come along. Indeed, the ideological arguments on travel and society the... Show

He argues that people should treasure their home place and take necessary measures to improve its
image (Emerson 44). Travelling presents the actual nature of other people s creations and inhibits
the traveler s ability to come up with new designs. Emerson s main argument in travel is that self
reliant people refrain from moving physically to historical sites. Instead, such people allow their
minds to stray to such places and imagine how it could look like. In presenting this argument,
Emerson insists that people should never be contented with the achievements of other people (43).
He notes that such imagination equips the person with wisdom and knowledge to advance counter
arguments about certain uplifted travel destinations. With such wisdom, the person not only proves
to be self reliant, but he also achieves recognition as different person with life changing

If a process took 45 minutes then the user would have to run 2 blocks simultaneously, taking up

This means that running a number of processes would take too long. This is considered Phase 1
of Operating systems and is called Serial Processing Phase 2 consisted of batch systems, and was
called Simple Batch Systems. This was one of the first OSs that removed the user access to the
hardware; there was no longer any direct access, meaning there was less human error, and
possible reducing the time it took to start the systems up. This OS functioned by allowing a
submission of Jobs to a Computer Operator, who would collate group jobs into a batch. These
batches are then put into a program, allowing the process to take place. This reduced the number
of pauses caused between each batch, allowing faster processing times. Multi Programmed Batch
Systems was an upgrade of Simple Batch Systems. This phase allowed automatic sequencing,
which removed the gaps between each batch/job, however the processor was very often idle.
Using this system also meant that Input and Output devices took their time; waiting around for
them to load would waste a lot of time. As this phase also contains Multiprocessing it allows the
OS to switch between jobs while an active job is waiting. The final phase of the OS is Time
Sharing. This was again an upgrade to its

destinations to find out what fantastic experience each porthas to offer.
During your cruise vacation you will visit ports to shop, explore, beach, sightsee or hike. There
are a wide variety of activities in each cruise destination. Or you could just depart the ship for a
chance to walk around for a change of pace. Although this is a great cruise adventure, you should
realize that you will only get a small sample of what each port of call has to offer. And be
forewarned, as you step of your majestic cruise ship there will be hordes of natives trying to sell
you a trinket or a tour around the city. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Archetypes of The Odyssey
Ancient Greece was full of mystery. They told of mystical, almost supernatural, heroes and
monsters. One such story was told of a warrior named Odysseus. A king who ruled over the
kingdom of Ithaca, but sadly left for war, leaving both his family, and his kingdom. Fighting for
almost a decade, Odysseus set off on a long journey towards home. Through thick and thin, and
through all of the bloodshed and fighting, he finally has a happy ending at home. At what cost
though? His men, his ship, himself? Odysseus was put into the category of a hero, one of the many

Similarities Between Japan And Russia
Although there were certain differences between Japan and Russia with regard to the role of state
in economic development during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, they were very
similar in their movement to abolish feudalism and the construction of industrial projects. Despite
these similarities they were different in their success rate by the end of this period of
industrialization. Both the Japanese and Russian government passed legislation that would assure
the abolition of feudalism and free serfs from their lords. In the mid nineteenth century the Japanese
went through a period commonly known as The Meiji Restoration. During this period major
changes occurred, one of them being the shift from a shogunate to an emperor.... Show more content

The new Japanese emperor and his advisors outlined exactly how the new economy without a
feudal system would work, distributing the feudal lands once they were lawfully taken from the
feudal lords. These new lands could house people previously under a feudal lord, so the
government directly catered to the needs of their people in such a way of providing shelter. The
majority of the population was content with their new emperor who took care of them and
gladly participated in Japan s industrial revolution, applying for jobs in the factories and assisting
in railroad construction. Alexander II did not put a plan in place to redistribute feudal lands or
address the newly freed serfs at all, instead he expected all former serfs to move to the cities and
assist him in the factories. They did move to the cities in search for job offerings and a new class
emerged, referred to as the proletarians were taken in under the mercy of the factory owners.
However, they were treated horribly, working under poor conditions and given barely enough
food or space to live by their factory workers. This class that made up a majority of Russia s
population, were growing increasingly unhappy with the emperor s rule and started to rebel. The
proletarians demanded change in the historically famous Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and
Russia soon was up to it s neck with internal conflicts, unable to keep up in the world market like
Japan had. If Alexander II had carefully planned their post feudal economy as the Japanese
emperor had, they would have been marginally more successful with their newly emerged working
class. However, since they did not Japan surpassed Russia in the world market and in strength,

Personal Statement Of Engineering In Electronics And...
It is no doubt that Engineering plays a vital role in our society. This is magnified in a time when
the world is faced with so many significant problems climate change, population density to name
just two. It is for this reason that I am so excited about the prospect of studying Engineering,
especially at the point of so many major advances in technology, in AI and nanomaterials for
example. In the future, I hope to help to lead these advances and solve these problems.
My interest in building projects first started when I began studying Electronics in Year 9. I
remember the joy I felt after making some Christmas lights flash in different patterns. Though it
was simple, seeing how I could genuinely make physical changes to my own home brought me
great pleasure. As I became more knowledgeable in Electronics and Engineering, I began building
far more impressive projects. In Year 11, I assembled and coded a quadcopter, for which I was
awarded a CREST Gold award. During the course of Year 12, I made a facial recognition system
using a Raspberry Pi and open source libraries. These projects have showed me the practical
aspects of Engineering, particularly in how important it is to be able to troubleshoot. [more detail]
[A book quote, e.g. as X says in Y ; ].
Another major project I have worked on recently involved building a suite of different LEDs that
can have features such as its flicker rate and intensity configured to a very precise level. This
formed part of a larger research project investigating how animals react to types of light. The
project, done as part of a Nuffield Research Placement was very different to my previous
ventures as it involved dozens of different people with a wide range of skillsets. I found that this
project developed not only my ability to work as a team [example], but also showed me how
research works at the PhD level.
Of course, I understand that Engineering is not just about building projects in the garage and I
have been actively seeking to gain a more diverse appreciation of what constitutes Engineering. I
recently attended a four day Headstart course at Warwick University which proved to be an
enlightening experience because of the amount of new material that was covered,

Bowling For Columbine Narrative Structure Essay
Narrative Structure in Michael Moore s
Bowling for Columbine
Michael Moore is a documentary film maker known for his controversial opinions and subject
matter. This documentary, Bowling for Columbine (2002), is Moore s second major film. It was
named in response to the 1999 Columbine High School massacre in which two boys went on a
shooting spree, thirteen people were killed and upwards of twenty were wounded. The two boys
were reported to have spent the morning before the massacre bowling. Despite its title, Moore s
documentary focuses on the broader issues of gun control and gun violence in America rather than
just the case of the Columbine boys.
As with the majority of his films, Michael Moore casts himself as the main focaliser in Bowling for
Columbine although there are other more minor characters (i.e. the boys who were victims of
Columbine) who assist through interviews. Repeatedly the audience is asked what America s
exponential gun violence can possibly be attributed to, as Moore provides several possible
culprits. The viewer follows Moore s personal, often satirical, vendetta to reveal the flaws of the
NRA (National Rifle Association), and America s gun laws as a whole. But the more important,
underlying problem Moore depicts is the state of fear American citizens live. It is a fear ... Show

10,000 unburied bodies, and 40,000 sick, starving, or wounded. Thus proves this camp was one of
the most horrifying camps of the Holocaust.
Another camp called Treblinka was a pure killing center. This death camp opened in 1942,
making it one of the last death camps to open. The whole purpose of this place was to kill Jews.
They did this with 13 carbon monoxide chambers. The people were sent to the camp by trains,
unloaded, and sent into changing rooms. They were forced to give up their clothes and put new
ones on. They were sent to either so called quot;showers quot;, or a mass grave where they were
shot. The carbon monoxide chambers were disguised as the quot;showers. quot; As soon as the
Jews were in, they locked the doors and started pouring gas into them. This was the way they killed
the prisoners. The Nazis killed about 50,000 people per month, making it the most efficient
concentration camps ever made. This made Treblinka a pure killing center.
The most notorious concentration camp ever was Auschwitz Birkenau. Auschwitz was opened in
April of 1940. It became the first Annihilation death camp. It was also the largest death camp.

Prion Diseases Research Paper
TSE: Unique Neuroinvasive Pathogens Overview Transmissible spongiform encephalopathies
(TSEs), also referred to as prion diseases, are a range of progressive neurodegenerative diseases
that affect various mammals, including humans. These diseases are caused by exposure to prions,
infectious agents that result from the misfolded form of a glycoprotein found at the surface of cells:
PrPc. The abnormal variant (PrPSc) is highly resistant to heat, chemicals and disinfection
procedures such as formalin disinfection. It requires autoclaving at 137ВєC for up to an hour to
sterilize contaminated materials. In some of these conditions prions first accumulate in the
lymphoid tissues, which are found within the route of infection, before reaching the brain.... Show

Infectious agents enter the brain through parasympathetic and sympathetic efferent fibres, with
one difference: the parasympathetic route of infection does not involve the spinal cord. Instead,
it goes directly to the CNS (McBride et al., 2001). TSE agents therefore reach the CNS in the
opposite direction that efferent (motor) fibres follow (i.e. from the target organ towards the brain
and not vice versa). As seen in Figure 3, infectious agents run through the splanchnic nerve
(sympathetic) to reach the spinal cord thoracically. From there, they spread to the brain in caudal
cranial direction. The way prions spread from FDCs to peripheral nerve fibres is uncertain, as
connection between an FDC and a nerve synapse is unusual (Felten and Felten, 1991). However,
intracellular transfer of prions to the peripheral nervous system (PNS) could occur via exosomes
from FDCs (Fevrier et al., 2004). Dendritic cells may also potentially transfer these agents to the
PNS (Aucouturier et al. 2001). Distance between FDCs and peripheral nerves affects the rate of
neuroinvasion, which means it may be faster through lymphoid tissues situated closer to peripheral
nerves than others (e.g. Peyer s patches compared to the

A Common Story Told Around Halloween
A common story told around Halloween is the tale of the Headless Horseman. Within the past
century, both Disney and Hollywood have given their views on the classic tale. Disney holds most
of the original concept of Irving s tale than the Tim Burton s movie. However, the changes in the
bridge scene, the concept of the characters, and the horseman takes valuable meaning away from
Irving s timeless classic The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
In Irving s original and Walt Disney view of the bridge scene was the same. The legend according
to Brom Bones, after a person that is chase crosses the bridge. The Headless Horseman would not
chase the person any longer. Ichabod took the advice and it did not turn out well for him, the
next morning in place of Ichabod was a pumpkin. Yet, the Tim Burton version was much different,
on how the bridge scene played out. The scene took place at the church, in this case, the
Horseman could not cross the fence. The Horseman thought outside of the fence to kill his next
target, Van Tassel. So the Headless Horseman takes a piece of fence and throws it throws it
through the church window. With these two differences in one scene, there is room for the
characters to flex to meet the needs of the changes. Irving s and Disney s description of Ichabod

The Effectiveness Of Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy
This essay is about the effectiveness of Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) in the
treatment of depression. The purpose of this essay is to address the question, how mindfulness
works to improve mental health when used as part of psychological treatment? Firstly, a brief
overview is given about what depression is and what the symptoms are, based on the Diagnostic
and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fifth edition (DSM 5). Secondly, It will discuss
mindfulness, as it is defined in mental health treatments. The main body of this essay will cover a
description of what MBTC is, where it comes from, how it works, and how this treatment is
activated in mindfulness based therapies. The final section will review three studies that have used
MBCT in the treatment of depression.
Depression is a normal emotional reaction to perceived loss and hopelessness (Segal, Williams,

vital need to save the trees. In the serious yet optimistic journal entry, John Muir employs the
idea of spiritual duty, and personification, as humans to preserves the continuously killed

advocate respect for the Redwoods. As humans, Muir demands an explanation as to our
mistreatment of the sacred creatures and will take no other answers than of one that demonstrates
total and complete love for the trees. He expects those who are damaging God s prized forests to
questions themselves and to examine their actions so that they can correct their mistakes. Another
example of personification that appeals to the trees is John Muir s description of the insurgence of
rebellion against the murder of the trees, and the rejoicing of the behemoths, ... this righteous
uprising in defense of God s trees in the midst of exciting politics and wars... and every Sequoia...
has heard the good news and is waving its branches for joy (paragraph, 1). The words in this
sentence serve primarily to illustrate the tree s emotions. By giving the trees the ability to feel
and exhibit joy over their possibly brighter future, it gives people a sense of pride about
alleviating some of the Redwood s pain. As Muir has demonstrated many times before, it is the
people s duty to cherish the Redwoods; there will never be a moment when this job is completed.
John Muir also uses an analogy to bare

CARLISLE 28 EATON 20 USED ROSTERS FROM HUDL.COM
Last night my travels took me to Carlisle, Ohio to watch the hometown Indians host the Eaton
Eagles. This was my first trip to Carlisle and it would mark the first time since the 2015 season,
that I have watched the Indians. I would be seeing the Eagles for the first time ever.
I expected a much larger crowd but as many times this season it was not the case, but those who
were there got to see a good competitive game, that was entertaining especially from the defensive
side of things.
The Indians defense would set the tone early in this one, when Daniel Smith teamed up with
teammate Gage Smith, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Heading into the second quarter this one looked very even, even though the Eagles offense was yet
to soar, while the Indians offense had shown a glimpse of going on the warpath a couple of times.
Just twenty six seconds into the second quarter Moore fumble the ball and scooping it up and
going about fifty six yards for the score for the Eagles was Chip Parker. Parker easily outran the
offense, who looked like a fighter, who had just been tagged by a Ali right cross. The pointafter
kick was missed causing this to stay a 13 7 Eagles lead.
The Indians offense would work the ball down to the Eagles thirty four yard line and from there
Chambers electrified the crowd, with a Archie Griffin like run, back when he was running for the
buckeyes. The point after kick gave the Indians the lead at 14 13, with 5:31left in the half. On the
drive the Eagles defense again had problems tackling and this really led to a lot of extra yards for
the Indians.
With 3:41 it appeared their was pass interference on the Indians receiver, but the ref said the ball
was tipped before the interference happened and this led to a interception by Moore on the pass
thrown by Ryan Venable. This play really seem to change the game and in my way of thinking the
Eagles fought hard but never overcame this call.
Defense was big again, with :27 seconds left in the half, when Moore was taken down by #54(Not

Taco Belly Eating Habits
It all started with a little bragging in study hall as most challenges do. It was Cam who first told
Corey that he could eat more than him. Zach and I were sitting thinking no one would disagree
with him until Corey came up with an interesting point. He explained to us that he may not be able
to win in the long run but he could eat faster say there. This gave the thoughta new dimension. We
all sat there thinking what we could do easily today on a low budget that would be fun.
Tacos , Zach yelled, we could get those 12 packs so it would be cheaper . We all agreed that tacos
sounded good and would be the perfect food item to prove the biggest eater. We started spreading

and I took an early lead with one taco eaten, quickly followed by Blake. Taco after taco our time on
this earth seemed limited as our stomachs began to swell. Bryce conceded early after just 4 ВЅ
tacos was just too much in that short amount of time. By this point, Blake had surpassed Zach
and me, as well as Cam. We all had consumed about six tacos nearing the final minute as Blake
began to bit into his seventh. That is when Zach decided he could go no longer. Cam, Corey and
I were so still going weakly, gasping as Blake was beginning his eighth taco and we were each
still at the seventh taco mark. Corey took a bite of taco seven and felt that life was more of a
struggle than a privilege in that moment. That left the contest with just three. Blake had a

However, despite best efforts, the transition will still cause some problems with relation to
changeover costs and increased training, particularly for current users of US GAAP. Therefore,
despite the process being one which is expected to be beneficial to many and establish a
significant improvement in harmonisation, there will still be some difficulties in regards to
financial reporting that companies in the US may face. The main aim of this research is to
critically assess the convergence of IFRS and US GAAP from the point of view of the US, and
evaluate the alterations in financial reporting standards that will cause problems for companies and
consumers in the US
Introduction 1.1 Background
Over the last decade, the way in which financial reporting is carried out has seen some significant
advancements. One of the most momentous changes has been the introduction of International
Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), which have been adopted broadly throughout the world, with
one major exception, the United States. Before accounting standards can be considered truly global,
this exception has to be resolved. The prospect of such an occurrence took massive strides in 2002,
when the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB); responsible for standard setting in the
US, announced their intention to work alongside the IASB in order to converge IFRS with US
GAAP. For the first time, a truly global set of accounting standards seemed a

Different Forms Of Expressing Love
What is love? When we born into this world, there is already those that love and adore us. One
article defines it as a variety of different feelings and emotions, chemical brain states, and attitudes
that ranges from interpersonal affection ( I love my mother ) to pleasure (Lyons, A Deeper Look ).
Loveis a unique and complicated neurological emotion which is very difficult to understand. It is
just like hunger and thirst, but just more permanent. Many of us talk about love as if we have no
control over it, as if it is unconditional or blind, in the sense that we have no control over it. Many
artists and poets use the heart as a symbol that represents love, even though the truth is that it
occurs in our brain. Unlike modern society, the older generations did not only use the word love
to describe all the various emotions that go along with it. There are many different forms of
expressing love. The three words, I love you, take on varying meanings to a friend, to a parent, or
to a significant other. In order to describe these forms, the Ancient Greeks invented four distinct
words for love : agГЎpe, Г©ros, storge, and philГa. These four are types of love that we experience
in different stages in our lives.
AgГЎpe is the Greek word for love at its highest by God. Not to be confused with philia love, it is
not the type of love between a husband and wife or a brotherly love. It is more of a parental,
sacrificial form of love. Of all the four types of love, this one is

In order to help my community to grow I will be helping inform people of how inappropriate it
is to commit these violations while telling them to spread the word that way the information is
passed among everyone throughout the whole community of the University of Missouri.
Another way my behavior has changed is I am planning on becoming more involved in the
judicial system to make sure that we are conquering problems within the University s
community, and helping people from the other side of the table. I think this would be the best
course of action to make sure that the people in trouble know that someone on the other side of
the table knows what they are going through. Behavior change is a good thing in my mind
because as I continue to grow and develop as a student and a cadet within Air Force ROTC
because I believe making mistakes is how you grow. All while setting an example for those
around me so they do not make the same mistakes I did. My behavior changed because of the
Student Conduct process in a couple ways first was how nervous and scared I was after
receiving the email saying I was in trouble. My mind went to how will this affect my future and
will I be expelled from this, and after receiving the letter with my violations and possible
punishment I became even more scared to be expelled. Setting up the meeting with the Judicial
board was different because the system was something I never saw before and without the
directions I would not have been able to set up the meeting. When I got to the meeting I sat in the
office for a little while without anyone coming up or anyone besides another girl who was there
for her meeting, then I waited for my turn to go and was greeted by four people for the meeting.

Fishing on EagleLake Essay The mid May morning that Blaine, Roger and I set out on our annual fishing trip to Eagle Lake in the Allagash Waterway was bright and clear. The Ice on the lake had just gone out and it brought the promise of early season Brook Trout fishing. Eagle Lake, remote and unspoiled, is reached only by boat via the portage station at Indian Stream, and the lone building on the shores of the lake is the Ranger s cabin. When we drove into the parking lot at the portage station, I noticed the game warden examining a fiery red pickup. We got out and stretched, and then Roger said to the warden, Hey, how s the fishing? I yelled to Blaine and Roger to look, but as soon as they gandered over the shadowy figure had disappeared within the densely wooded area. I must have been imagining things, I thought to myself. However, as one glances across the different myths of different cultures, one can find that some portion of two different myths can be eerily similar to each other, causing one to speculate whether they have made contact with one another long time ago in history. This led to the question that people constantly try to prove: do myths that have overlapping ideas verify actual historical truths and similar culture between origins of myths? The animals going in were male and female of every living thing, as God had commanded Noah. Then the Lord shut him in. For forty days the flood kept coming on earth, and as the waters increased they lifted the ark high above the earth. The water rose and increased greatly on the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the water. They rose greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered. Any Kind Checksand HDC Status Essay Andres Bocanegra MBA 610 Q2285 January 4, 2015 6 3: Short Paper Any Kind Checks and HDC Status Several factors come into play when considering the fairness of the court s ruling in this case. We have to look at whether Any Kind Checks Cashed acted reasonably in accepting a negotiable item from the payee. We also have to consider why the payee used the services of a check cashing establishment in the course of conducting his business. Also, it is important to review the provisions that should be met when an entity tries to assert a protection as a holder in due course. Was Any Kind Checks an HDC in this case? Any Kind Checks did not have prior notice of the check being dishonored by Mr. Talcott when Guarino attempted to cash it. However, because of its value, they show that they had reason to contact the maker for approval. It is also reasonable for Any Kind to take Mr. Guarino s actions as suspect. As is pointed out in the brief, why would a small business owner, particularly one who is a broker of investments, utilize a check cashing business for this transaction rather than a traditional financial institution? This question in and of itself should give cause for concern to Any Kind considering their policy that any check over $2,000 requires approval. A revision to Article 3 of the UCC added a provision for not only honesty in fact, but also for the observance of reasonable commercial standards of fair dealing. Because a reasonable party could reasonably consider Guarino s actions as suspect, and outside of the commercial standards of fair dealing, the burden of proof is significantly higher in showing good faith and fairness toward all parties (including the maker of the instrument). We have another example in this situation to look at when analyzing if Any Kind took such care in this case. When attempting to cash the second check, Any Kind felt it was necessary to speak with the Maker prior to taking action. Any Kind would not cash the check for Guarino without speaking with Mr. Talcott. Once they received approval from Talcott, and were not advised of any action ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Racial Inequality DuringThe Middle Ages Essay I cannot think of a topic that is more controversial, and unsettling than race. The idea of race began in the middle ages, but really starting taking foot when the America s were discovered. Since our country was discovered, there has always been racial inequality. In colonial times Africans were used as slaves, and the Native Americans (the ones who inhabited our country first) were pushed away to reservations to make room for the white people. Skipping ahead a couple of decades to the Holocaust. Jew s were widely executed because they did not fit Hitlers standard of a perfect person, (white). In current times, there is still racial inequality, but the minority population is rising, and rallying for equality. Being considered a white person in the United States is almost a blessing. White people are automatically given a certain amount of white privilege once they are born. When walking down the street, applying for a job, or university there are very little obstacles a white person will face. A non white person is seen as threatening walking down the street, and less likely to get a job, or into a university than a white person. When a white man walks into a room people will just call him a guy, but if a black man walks into a room people will automatically refer to him as a black guy . This has nothing to do with how he is dressed, how he talks, or how he behaves, but all on the color of his skin. In the U.S., we are brought up to believe white is natural, and if ... Light Motif InFahrenheit 451 In Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451, the motif of light and lightness symbolizes the knowledge of Clarisse McClellan and her angelic like qualities and the acquired knowledge of Guy Montag. A major part of the light motif, is the character Clarisse and her appearance described from Montag s point of view. As Montag is coming home after a day of work, he meets this young women name Clarisse. She is described thoroughly, especially her face as slender and milk white [... and] of pale surprise [...] Her dress was white and it whispered [...] the white stir of her face turning when she discovered that she was a moment away from a man (Bradbury 3). Montag thinks of her face as a mirror, too [...] Impossible; for how many people did you know that refracted your own light to you [...] and throw back to you your own expression, your own innermost trembling thought? Michelangelo s LastJudgement The artist that I chose to present his artwork is Michelangelo. One of Michelangelo s most famous piece is The Last Judgement. The Last Judgement was ordered by Pope Clement VII in 1534 and was started in 1536. Michelangelo took five years to create The Last Judgement and it was one of the largest fresco painting in the 16th century. The painting created by Michelangelois currently located in the Sistine Chapel of Rome. He used a painting technique called fresco . Fresco is the use of watercolor on wet plaster. The sculpture is in Florence Italy in Galleria dell Accademia. This sculpture took Michelangelo three years to complete and was finished in 1504. David is the first nude standing sculpture in a thousand years and is a symbol of Florence. Michelangelo is thought to believe that he borrowed the idea from the Greek and the Hellenistic Era to build a nude sculpture. David represents victory and a hero. As seen in the sculpture, Michelangelo uses the technique of contrapposto that was used in Greek art and Hellenistic art. David is putting more weight on one foot than another and that creates the twist off with his hips and legs. The slingshot that David is holding represents a weapon that he used to defeat Goliath. The whole story that comes with the sculpture is Goliath was seemed as impossible to defeat but David comes around and defeats Goliath with a slingshot and beheads him. The lines and the detail that Michelangelo put in represents the use of geometry/math. Rather than being relaxed, David s face is tight and looks like he is ready for battle. His eyes are looking at someone or something far away and ready for something to happen. Factors Of AnInvestment Bank Client Introduction The purpose of this composition is to supply, in a form suitable for laymen, guidance in developing a better understanding of the meaning behind financial market anomaly and its implications on the established assumption that markets are rational. It is vital for an investment bank client to be aware of the large amount of controversial evidence challenging traditional hypotheses of asset pricing bahaviour and, primarily, to become sensitive to investment strategies predicting likely abnormal returns. In order to participate intelligently in the equity market, one should, in any case, be forearmed with an adequate knowledge of how one recognized and persistent financial market anomaly has evolved over time and influences ... Furthermore, attention will then be paid to a thorough evaluation of theories regarding probable reasons behind the weekend effect and its likely significance to both academics and practitioners. Ultimately and based on all key discoveries, this composition will then investigate the anomaly s degree of persistence following its discovery whilst re emphasising the importance of a deep understanding of unusual stock market return behaviour. Definitions Before looking at the weekend effect in more detail, it is essential to understand what the term anomaly actually refers to. According to Schwert (2002, p. 940), anomalies can be understood as empirical results that seem to be inconsistent with maintained theories of asset pricing behavior and reveal either market inefficiency (profit opportunities) or inadequacies in the underlying asset pricing model. Moreover, the weekend effect, also known as Monday or day of the week effect, embodies a supposed calendar anomaly that is any consistent pattern or irregularity occurring at a repeated interval or at a certain time in a calendar year and has been defined as the phenomenon that the Monday (close Friday to close Monday) stock returns, on average, are less than returns on any other day of ... Internsment And JapaneseInternment Camps 10/17 Claim For years, people have argued over whether Japanese Internment camps( interment means putting a person in prison or other kind of detention, generally in wartime. During World War II, the American government put Japanese Americans in internment camps, fearing they might be loyal to Japan.) are an Americanized version of concentration camps. Some say that the Japanese Internment camps were just as brutal and inhumane as concentration camps in Nazi Germany. Others will tell you they were completely different, and I argue the same. Reason 2 Another reason that the concentration camps and Japanese Internment camps are completely different is because the motive behind creating the camps was incompareable. Japanese internment camps were created because the United States was scared of connections Japanese Americans might have to the enemy, and the feared for the safety of the country. On the contrary, concentration camps were created out because of Hitler s pure hatred for the jews. When Hell asked Hitler what he intended doing if he ever had full freedom of action against the Jews, his response was: If I am ever really in power, the destruction of the Jews will be my first and most important job. As soon as I have power, I shall have gallows after gallows erected, for example, in Munich on the Marienplatz as many of them as traffic allows. Then the Jews will be hanged one after another, and they will stay hanging until they stink. They will stay hanging as long as hygienically possible. As soon as they are untied, then the next group will follow and that will continue until the last Jew in Munich is exterminated. Exactly the same procedure will be followed in other cities until Germany is cleansed of the last Jew! (quoted in John Toland, Adolf Hitler. Engineering Performance-Based FireCodes Preliminary views on implementing Engineering Performance Based Fire Codes in Hong Kong: What should be done? Abstract Engineering performance based fire codes (EPBFC) are to be developed in Hong Kong. Before implementing EPBFC, or even writing down what should be done, such as the fire safety objectives, current prescriptive fire codes should be understood. This will be a very big project to be tackled step by step, certainly not regarded as a normal consultancy project which can be completed within a short period of, say three years. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, before deciding whether to stick to prescriptive codes with active updating or to use EPBFC, well planned long term investigational works should be carried out. This should also be a life long research project for upgrading the code to solve new problems encountered. This was well recognized by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). There, EPBFC has been studied since 1995 with some support of Area of Strategic Development: Construction Industry Development Studies and Research Centre. A journal [37] reporting the development, problems encountered, scientific principles, engineering judgements and practical examples was established. It appears that if EPBFC is applied properly by experts with good training in fire safety engineering such as those holding PhD degrees, and with practical engineering experience up to Chartered Engineer status, the following can be achieved as reported in the literature [13 34]: в†ђ Better fire safety provisions than described in the older versions of prescriptive codes for both passive and active fire safety measures [18]. в†ђ Regulations requiring systems that might not work in a fire or even give adverse effect can be pointed out and updated. What Is SelfReliance By Ralph Waldo Emerson Ralph Waldo Emerson s Self Reliance Different philosophers have advanced varying argument pertaining to the relationship between the individual and society. While many of them have attempted to establish a connection between the two entities, Emerson, a transcendentalist philosopher takes a different perspective. In his essay titled Self Reliance, he insists that people should trust themselves and break the rules that have been established by the society. In order to achieve this, Emerson suggests that individuals should seek to follow their own instincts and avoid the dictations that have been imposed by culture or religion. In his discussion, clearly structured arguments on travel and society are vivid. His arguments revolve around the proposition that change in the society does not take place in a desirable manner, rather people are ignorant to note the detriments that come along. Instead, such people allow their minds to stray to such places and imagine how it could look like. In presenting this argument, Emerson insists that people should never be contented with the achievements of other people (43). This was one of the first OSs that removed the user access to the hardware; there was no longer any direct access, meaning there was less human error, and possible reducing the time it took to start the systems up. This OS functioned by allowing a submission of Jobs to a Computer Operator, who would collate group jobs into a batch. These batches are then put into a program, allowing the process to take place. This reduced the number of pauses caused between each batch, allowing faster processing times. Multi Programmed Batch Systems was an upgrade of Simple Batch Systems. This phase allowed automatic sequencing, which removed the gaps between each batch/job, however the processor was very often idle. Using this system also meant that Input and Output devices took their time; waiting around for them to load would waste a lot of time. As this phase also contains Multiprocessing it allows the OS to switch between jobs while an active job is waiting. The final phase of the OS is Time Sharing. This was again an upgrade to its ... Similarities Between JapanAnd Russia Although there were certain differences between Japan and Russia with regard to the role of state in economic development during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, they were very similar in their movement to abolish feudalism and the construction of industrial projects. Despite these similarities they were different in their success rate by the end of this period of industrialization. Both the Japanese and Russian government passed legislation that would assure the abolition of feudalism and free serfs from their lords. The new Japanese emperor and his advisors outlined exactly how the new economy without a feudal system would work, distributing the feudal lands once they were lawfully taken from the feudal lords. These new lands could house people previously under a feudal lord, so the government directly catered to the needs of their people in such a way of providing shelter. The majority of the population was content with their new emperor who took care of them and gladly participated in Japan s industrial revolution, applying for jobs in the factories and assisting in railroad construction. Alexander II did not put a plan in place to redistribute feudal lands or address the newly freed serfs at all, instead he expected all former serfs to move to the cities and assist him in the factories. They did move to the cities in search for job offerings and a new class emerged, referred to as the proletarians were taken in under the mercy of the factory owners. However, they were treated horribly, working under poor conditions and given barely enough food or space to live by their factory workers. This class that made up a majority of Russia s population, were growing increasingly unhappy with the emperor s rule and started to rebel. Personal Statement OfEngineering In Electronics And... It is no doubt that Engineering plays a vital role in our society. This is magnified in a time when the world is faced with so many significant problems climate change, population density to name just two. It is for this reason that I am so excited about the prospect of studying Engineering, especially at the point of so many major advances in technology, in AI and nanomaterials for example. In the future, I hope to help to lead these advances and solve these problems. My interest in building projects first started when I began studying Electronics in Year 9. I remember the joy I felt after making some Christmas lights flash in different patterns. Though it was simple, seeing how I could genuinely make physical changes to my own home brought me great pleasure. As I became more knowledgeable in Electronics and Engineering, I began building far more impressive projects. In Year 11, I assembled and coded a quadcopter, for which I was awarded a CREST Gold award. During the course of Year 12, I made a facial recognition system using a Raspberry Pi and open source libraries. These projects have showed me the practical aspects of Engineering, particularly in how important it is to be able to troubleshoot. [more detail] [A book quote, e.g. as X says in Y ; ]. Another major project I have worked on recently involved building a suite of different LEDs that can have features such as its flicker rate and intensity configured to a very precise level. This formed part of a larger research project investigating how animals react to types of light. The project, done as part of a Nuffield Research Placement was very different to my previous ventures as it involved dozens of different people with a wide range of skillsets. I found that this project developed not only my ability to work as a team [example], but also showed me how research works at the PhD level. Of course, I understand that Engineering is not just about building projects in the garage and I have been actively seeking to gain a more diverse appreciation of what constitutes Engineering. I recently attended a four day Headstart course at Warwick University which proved to be an enlightening experience because of the amount of new material that was covered, ... Bowling For ColumbineNarrative Structure Essay Narrative Structure in Michael Moore s Bowling for Columbine Michael Moore is a documentary film maker known for his controversial opinions and subject matter. This documentary, Bowling for Columbine (2002), is Moore s second major film. It was named in response to the 1999 Columbine High School massacre in which two boys went on a shooting spree, thirteen people were killed and upwards of twenty were wounded. The two boys were reported to have spent the morning before the massacre bowling. Despite its title, Moore s documentary focuses on the broader issues of gun control and gun violence in America rather than just the case of the Columbine boys. As with the majority of his films, Michael Moore casts himself as the main focaliser in Bowling for Columbine although there are other more minor characters (i.e. the boys who were victims of Columbine) who assist through interviews. Repeatedly the audience is asked what America s exponential gun violence can possibly be attributed to, as Moore provides several possible culprits. Thus proves this camp was one of the most horrifying camps of the Holocaust. Another camp called Treblinka was a pure killing center. This death camp opened in 1942, making it one of the last death camps to open. The whole purpose of this place was to kill Jews. They did this with 13 carbon monoxide chambers. The people were sent to the camp by trains, unloaded, and sent into changing rooms. They were forced to give up their clothes and put new ones on. They were sent to either so called quot;showers quot;, or a mass grave where they were shot. The carbon monoxide chambers were disguised as the quot;showers. quot; As soon as the Jews were in, they locked the doors and started pouring gas into them. This was the way they killed the prisoners. The Nazis killed about 50,000 people per month, making it the most efficient concentration camps ever made. This made Treblinka a pure killing center. The most notorious concentration camp ever was Auschwitz Birkenau. Auschwitz was opened in April of 1940. It became the first Annihilation death camp. It was also the largest death camp. ... Analysis Of TheWestern And Southern Open Tennis Tournament This August I attended the Western and Southern Open Tennis Tournament. This tournament is a week long event, and since I love tennis, I went to one of the days and watched tennis. For my field study report, I have decided to write about the third round match I went to between world number one Rafael Nadal and Albert Ramos ViГ±olas. The main stadiumat the Western and Southern Open holds 11,435 people, and since one of the most popular players was playing Rafa the stadium was very filled this day (cite). Inside the stadium, there were three sponsorships that stuck out the most to me Emirates, University of Cincinnati Hospital, and Western and Southern. Through some investigation into the companies and knowledge about attendance with this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This target audience, therefore, fits perfectly with the type of audience that Emirates wants with them looking to attract people with a good income between the ages of 24 to 45 that travel for business and leisure (cite). As Emirates is an international airline company based out of Dubai having people from all over the world coming to watch in person as well as having the television playing this event in 67 million homes across the globe gives Emirates the ability to reach a broad coverage of people including their target market (cite). Not only is sponsoring to the right people essential but it s important to market at the right time and place. Time and place deal mainly signifying the time of the year a specific sponsorship is shown. The Western and Southern Open occurs in August, and since by this point in the year it is close to the beginning of fall it is the perfect time to be advertising to people especially those who are taking their last summer holidays and beginning their fall business trips. Since tennis is an international sport and there are many tennis tournaments around the globe seeing this Emirates advertisement can help catch peoples attentions and book a flight to ... Prion Diseases ResearchPaper TSE: Unique Neuroinvasive Pathogens Overview Transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs), also referred to as prion diseases, are a range of progressive neurodegenerative diseases that affect various mammals, including humans. These diseases are caused by exposure to prions, infectious agents that result from the misfolded form of a glycoprotein found at the surface of cells: PrPc. The abnormal variant (PrPSc) is highly resistant to heat, chemicals and disinfection procedures such as formalin disinfection. It requires autoclaving at 137ВєC for up to an hour to sterilize contaminated materials. In some of these conditions prions first accumulate in the lymphoid tissues, which are found within the route of infection, before reaching the brain.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Infectious agents enter the brain through parasympathetic and sympathetic efferent fibres, with one difference: the parasympathetic route of infection does not involve the spinal cord. Instead, it goes directly to the CNS (McBride et al., 2001). TSE agents therefore reach the CNS in the opposite direction that efferent (motor) fibres follow (i.e. from the target organ towards the brain and not vice versa). As seen in Figure 3, infectious agents run through the splanchnic nerve (sympathetic) to reach the spinal cord thoracically. From there, they spread to the brain in caudal cranial direction. The way prions spread from FDCs to peripheral nerve fibres is uncertain, as connection between an FDC and a nerve synapse is unusual (Felten and Felten, 1991). However, intracellular transfer of prions to the peripheral nervous system (PNS) could occur via exosomes from FDCs (Fevrier et al., 2004). Dendritic cells may also potentially transfer these agents to the PNS (Aucouturier et al. 2001). Distance between FDCs and peripheral nerves affects the rate of neuroinvasion, which means it may be faster through lymphoid tissues situated closer to peripheral nerves than others (e.g. Peyer s patches compared to the ... A Common StoryTold Around Halloween A common story told around Halloween is the tale of the Headless Horseman. Within the past century, both Disney and Hollywood have given their views on the classic tale. Disney holds most of the original concept of Irving s tale than the Tim Burton s movie. However, the changes in the bridge scene, the concept of the characters, and the horseman takes valuable meaning away from Irving s timeless classic The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. In Irving s original and Walt Disney view of the bridge scene was the same. The legend according to Brom Bones, after a person that is chase crosses the bridge. The Headless Horseman would not chase the person any longer. Ichabod took the advice and it did not turn out well for him, the next morning in place of Ichabod was a pumpkin. Yet, the Tim Burton version was much different, on how the bridge scene played out. The scene took place at the church, in this case, the Horseman could not cross the fence. The Horseman thought outside of the fence to kill his next target, Van Tassel. So the Headless Horseman takes a piece of fence and throws it throws it through the church window. With these two differences in one scene, there is room for the characters to flex to meet the needs of the changes. Irving s and Disney s description of Ichabod Crane different to that of Tim Burton. The first instance is the description of Ichabod s appearance. His head was small, and flat at top, with huge ears, large green glassy eyes, and a long snipe nose, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Summary Of JohnMuir s Save The Redwoods John Muir, a brilliant Transcendentalist, has written hundreds of enlightening environmental essay to emphasize the adamant need to save these sacred kings of the forests, the Redwoods. Within Muir s vivid and emotional entries, specifically Save the Redwoods , John utilizes rhetorical devices such as personification, analogy, and Religious allusion in order to express the vital need to save the trees. In the serious yet optimistic journal entry, John Muir employs the idea of spiritual duty, and personification, as humans to preserves the continuously killed Redwoods. Muir has seen the death of hundreds of trees and knows the irreparable damage it could cause if the damage continues, ...kings of the forest, the noblest of a noble race, rightly belong to the world, but as they are in California we cannot escape responsibility as their guardians (paragraph, 6). The author s use of noblest of a noble race and responsibility as their guardian evokes an intense need to not only protest the killing of these giants but to nurture and advocate respect for the Redwoods. As humans, Muir demands an explanation as to our mistreatment of the sacred creatures and will take no other answers than of one that demonstrates total and complete love for the trees. He expects those who are damaging God s prized forests to questions themselves and to examine their actions so that they can correct their mistakes. Another example of personification that appeals to the trees is John Muir s description of the insurgence of rebellion against the murder of the trees, and the rejoicing of the behemoths, ... this righteous uprising in defense of God s trees in the midst of exciting politics and wars... and every Sequoia... has heard the good news and is waving its branches for joy (paragraph, 1). The words in this sentence serve primarily to illustrate the tree s emotions. By giving the trees the ability to feel and exhibit joy over their possibly brighter future, it gives people a sense of pride about alleviating some of the Redwood s pain. As Muir has demonstrated many times before, it is the people s duty to cherish the Redwoods; there will never be a moment when this job is completed. John Muir also uses an analogy to bare ... My First TripTo Football CARLISLE 28 EATON 20 USED ROSTERS FROM HUDL.COM Last night my travels took me to Carlisle, Ohio to watch the hometown Indians host the Eaton Eagles. This was my first trip to Carlisle and it would mark the first time since the 2015 season, that I have watched the Indians. I would be seeing the Eagles for the first time ever. I expected a much larger crowd but as many times this season it was not the case, but those who were there got to see a good competitive game, that was entertaining especially from the defensive side of things. The Indians defense would set the tone early in this one, when Daniel Smith teamed up with teammate Gage Smith, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Heading into the second quarter this one looked very even, even though the Eagles offense was yet to soar, while the Indians offense had shown a glimpse of going on the warpath a couple of times. Just twenty six seconds into the second quarter Moore fumble the ball and scooping it up and going about fifty six yards for the score for the Eagles was Chip Parker. Parker easily outran the offense, who looked like a fighter, who had just been tagged by a Ali right cross. The pointafter kick was missed causing this to stay a 13 7 Eagles lead. The Indians offense would work the ball down to the Eagles thirty four yard line and from there Chambers electrified the crowd, with a Archie Griffin like run, back when he was running for the buckeyes. The point after kick gave the Indians the lead at 14 13, with 5:31left in the half. On the drive the Eagles defense again had problems tackling and this really led to a lot of extra yards for the Indians. With 3:41 it appeared their was pass interference on the Indians receiver, but the ref said the ball was tipped before the interference happened and this led to a interception by Moore on the pass thrown by Ryan Venable. This play really seem to change the game and in my way of thinking the Eagles fought hard but never overcame this call. Defense was big again, with :27 seconds left in the half, when Moore was taken down by #54(Not on the Eagles roster) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Taco Belly EatingHabits It all started with a little bragging in study hall as most challenges do. It was Cam who first told Corey that he could eat more than him. Zach and I were sitting thinking no one would disagree with him until Corey came up with an interesting point. He explained to us that he may not be able to win in the long run but he could eat faster say there. This gave the thoughta new dimension. We all sat there thinking what we could do easily today on a low budget that would be fun. Tacos , Zach yelled, we could get those 12 packs so it would be cheaper . Corey took a bite of taco seven and felt that life was more of a struggle than a privilege in that moment. That left the contest with just three. However, despite best efforts, the transition will still cause some problems with relation to changeover costs and increased training, particularly for current users of US GAAP. Therefore, despite the process being one which is expected to be beneficial to many and establish a significant improvement in harmonisation, there will still be some difficulties in regards to financial reporting that companies in the US may face. The main aim of this research is to critically assess the convergence of IFRS and US GAAP from the point of view of the US, and evaluate the alterations in financial reporting standards that will cause problems for companies and consumers in the US Introduction 1.1 Background Over the last decade, the way in which financial reporting is carried out has seen some significant advancements. One of the most momentous changes has been the introduction of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), which have been adopted broadly throughout the world, with one major exception, the United States. Before accounting standards can be considered truly global, this exception has to be resolved. The prospect of such an occurrence took massive strides in 2002, when the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB); responsible for standard setting in the US, announced their intention to work alongside the IASB in order to converge IFRS with US GAAP. For the first time, a truly global set of accounting standards seemed a

Different Forms OfExpressing Love What is love? When we born into this world, there is already those that love and adore us. One article defines it as a variety of different feelings and emotions, chemical brain states, and attitudes that ranges from interpersonal affection ( I love my mother ) to pleasure (Lyons, A Deeper Look ). Loveis a unique and complicated neurological emotion which is very difficult to understand. It is just like hunger and thirst, but just more permanent. Many of us talk about love as if we have no control over it, as if it is unconditional or blind, in the sense that we have no control over it. Many artists and poets use the heart as a symbol that represents love, even though the truth is that it occurs in our brain. Unlike modern society, the older generations did not only use the word love to describe all the various emotions that go along with it. There are many different forms of expressing love. The three words, I love you, take on varying meanings to a friend, to a parent, or to a significant other. In order to describe these forms, the Ancient Greeks invented four distinct words for love : agГЎpe, Г©ros, storge, and philГa. These four are types of love that we experience in different stages in our lives. AgГЎpe is the Greek word for love at its highest by God. Not to be confused with philia love, it is not the type of love between a husband and wife or a brotherly love. It is more of a parental, sacrificial form of love. Of all the four types of love, this one is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I think this would be the best course of action to make sure that the people in trouble know that someone on the other side of the table knows what they are going through. Behavior change is a good thing in my mind because as I continue to grow and develop as a student and a cadet within Air Force ROTC because I believe making mistakes is how you grow. All while setting an example for those around me so they do not make the same mistakes I did. My behavior changed because of the Student Conduct process in a couple ways first was how nervous and scared I was after receiving the email saying I was in trouble. My mind went to how will this affect my future and will I be expelled from this, and after receiving the letter with my violations and possible punishment I became even more scared to be expelled. Setting up the meeting with the Judicial board was different because the system was something I never saw before and without the directions I would not have been able to set up the meeting.
