Informal Fallacies Of An Informal Fallacy
Our lives revolve around money. The value of a dollar does not buy much anymore; everything comes
with a price tag. The media likes to entice people with catchy slogans, celebrities or any other setup
just so they can obtain our money. Once they grasp our attention we realize most of these attention
grabbers had no relation to their argument or what they are trying to sell. Thus the correct term for the
types of misleading ads and television commercials is called informal fallacies. The purpose of an
informal fallacy can be to enact reactions from the audience, used to discredit a person or lastly appeal
to a certain outlook. They mainly lack the validity in order to prove their argument. The media
provides us with many scenarios using different forms of informal fallacies. I will provide three
notable examples of informal fallacies by explaining the type of fallacy and why the media used this
fallacy.
To start off, I should first differentiate between a formal and informal fallacy. A formal argument is
when the argument lacks the correct structural form. The form of the fallacy will then be able to tell us
if the fallacy is valid or invalid. The difference is in the way the argument is written, informal fallacies
lack context in order to make the argument. For example, I came across a nationwide commercial that
took a different approach in order to sell to the public. Rather than sell to their audience some reasons
why they should chose to consult with the company they

Thesis Statement On Job Satisfaction
Pearson and Seiler (1983) found in their research on 336 faculty members from 24 universities in
Unites States, predictors for job satisfaction were tenure, teaching load, gender, institution type as in
private or public, and age. Salary and ranking on the other hand surprising did not play a big role in
influencing perceived job satisfaction. In comparison, it was found that those in professional colleges
reported higher job satisfaction than those in general college. Those who reported higher job
satisfaction were those with higher salaries, lower teaching loads, and speedier promotion rate. The
researchers further explain the possibilities to why lecturers from professional colleges reported higher
satisfaction was because of the job security ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Olsen, work stress or job related stress were related to time management conflicts,
compensation issues such as salary, feedback and job security. The level of job stress will play a role
in determining job satisfaction level as suggested by the research done by Usman and colleagues in
Punjab in 2011. The researchers posited that the higher work stress experienced by the faculty
members, the lower will be their satisfaction with their job. High job stress will also lead to lower
organizational commitment (Usman, Ahmed, Ahmed, Akbar, 2011). The researchers suggested that by
minimizing role ambiguity, it will directly reduce the role stress experience by the teaching members
and indirectly lower job stress as a whole. Thompson and Dey (1998) found that sources of stress for
African American college and university faculty were time constraints, promotion concerns, and
overall stress. Thompson and Dey also found that stress regardless of sources negatively affecting job
satisfaction. The most prominent evidence in the researchers finding was the negative effect of stress
in regarding of promotion towards the level of job satisfaction. In fact the researchers found that the
more stress the respondents were about promotion, the least satisfied they were about aspects such as

Psychosocial Model Of Nursing Diagnosis
In the psychosocial component, the nursing diagnosis assigned to this client would be ineffective
pattern of giving and receiving. This is due to the fact that the client has recently experienced the
death of her spouse. This mode deals with affectional adequacy and developmental adequacy.
Affectional adequacy is defined as the ability to give and receive affection from others (Nickerson,
2015). This is important to an individual because it deals with the human need associated with
nurturing. This includes receptive and contributive factors (Nickerson, 2015). Since the client has lost
her spouse, she stated that she felt that she did not receive the kind of affection her spouse gave her. Of
course her family loves her and treats her well, but she stated ... Show more content on

The structural component of this mode includes the significant other. Since this person is no longer
alive, she cannot receive the same nurturing that she once had. Another aspect of this mode is the
client s support system. The other aspects of this client s support system include the rest of the family,
her children, grandchildren, and extended family. In addition, the client s giving behaviors include
making gifts for others, providing love/care to her grandchildren, and ensuring that her family
members feel loved and supported. However, the receiving behaviors of the client are not as evident.
Some stimuli for this nursing diagnosis include the focal stimuli, which is the fact that the client lost
her husband last year. A contextual stimulus includes the family dynamic and the separation of most of
the family from the other, during this period of adjustment to the death of her spouse. This includes
both a family dynamic and environment stimuli because the client s environment is changed. In terms
of residual stimuli, the client s own aging process and health problems could both be

The View of Absolute Monarchies
The View of Absolute Monarchies
The extent to which rulers and their subjects viewed the role of an absolute monarch was different.
The time of this political issue on absolute monarchies was around the 1600s. There were people for
the absolute monarchies, people with their own monarchies and people against monarchies. Each one
had there own idea for what the role of the monarchy was the people against it thought it was
oppressive the people for it thought it was because people couldn t rule on their own and the rulers
viewed it as a chance to gain more power.
There were people in this time that did not like the idea of an absolute monarchy because they were
being oppressed. An example of this would be The Twelve Articles a ... Show more content on

They like the idea because they get more power than if they had a constitutional monarchy. King
James the 6th of Scotland (Doc 4) says that the parliament is ruled by the king and doesn t do anything
at all and shouldn t. This is an argument showing that he doesn t want parliament to have power
therefore giving him more power under the monarchy. He also talks a little bit about how people need
him to make laws, which is also an argument for this type of monarchy. This document is reliable
because the information comes from a book written by James himself. His POV is of a king and he
just wants more power. Catherine the Great empress of Russia (Doc 8) wrote an instruction to the
Legislative Commission of 1767. The legislative commission is a group of representatives who made
new laws. The laws that Catherine wanted passed were rule that the sovereign was absolute and the
Extent of Dominion requires an absolute power to be vested in that person who rules it. This shows
that she wanted an absolute monarchy in Russia and that she also talks about how the absolute
monarchy is not to take away peoples natural liberties but to correct their actions to obtain the
supreme good. She says a man may do whatever he wants but she is still in favor of an absolute
monarchy very much so but instead for power she wants it because humans cannot rule themselves
and because she wants power. The last example of this would be Louis 14th king of France

Webvan had minimal power against large distributors like P G and had no private label presence to
offset this disadvantage. Webvan s non traditional operating model was also an issue. The use of non
standard pallet configurations was an example of how large suppliers made accommodations for a
smaller reseller. It is assumed that Webvan s supplier relations were complicated by its non standard
shipping requirements, and the sheer number of vendors the company worked with. Finally, Webvan s
systems, though highly automated, were extremely expensive, overly customized (and thus hard to
upgrade) and insufficiently funded to support expansion into new markets.
SWOT Analysis: Opportunities
First, the $650B size of the US grocery market was a major opportunity; only a small percentage of
this market would be required for a company to have significant profits. Second, both web purchases
and, in particular, online grocery consumer purchases were predicted to increase. The $16.8B in online
grocery sales was predicted to represent 1 out of every 5 dollars spent online by 2004 (see figure 1).
Third, customer data opportunities were emerging through all online retailers. Webvan s ability to
leverage customer purchasing information and its ability to share this data with its suppliers
constituted an advantage over traditional grocery competitors. Finally, capital markets in the late
1990s were eagerly funding start up companies.

The New Public Of Public Management
The New Public Service draws motivation from democratic political theory and alternative approaches
to management and organizational design growing from the tradition in public administration theory.
The government fulfills a responsibility to citizens because they ensure that there are procedures to
guarantee successful operation of democratic principles through voting, representation and due
process (Catlaw Denhardt, 2015, 2011, 2008). As citizens we have the role of developing the capacity
to be consistent with interests and to respect the rights of other people to do the same. Smaller groups
are called civil society and they are important because they work out personal interests. The New
Public management has championed a dream of public administrators as the business visionaries of
another, leaner, and progressively privatized government, duplicating the practices as well as the
values of business (Catlaw Denhardt, 2015, 2011, 2008). Advocates of the New Public management
have built up their debates generally through compare and contrast in relation to the public
organizations. The New Public management will, obviously, dependably win. We continue to argue
that the better comparison is with what we call the New Public Service, a development based on work
in just democratic citizenship, group and society (Catlaw Denhardt, 2015, 2011, 2008).
The New Public Service has seven principles. The first principle deals with serving of the customers.
The second principle

Explain who created the source and why.
Jane Addams was an upper class woman who thought it was her job to help others. Addams was an
advocate of immigrants, the poor, women, and peace. In 1889, she created the hull house. The Hull
house was created to help female immigrants become assimilated to the American life style by helping
get them a job, learn the language, and receive an education. So it was no surprise that in in 1915, Jane
Addams wrote the life changing article Why Women Should Vote .
Discuss whether or not the writer was a neutral party. If not, explain the opinions or interests that
might have influenced what was written
During the 1900 s women were under the idea of the cult of domesticity. This means that the women s
place was in the home. They had jobs such as cooking, cleaning, and caring for the children. In the
article Why Women should Vote , it is clear to see that Addams is biased and believes that women
deserve the right to vote. However, unlike other persuasive article Addams article is different, she
believes women should be able to vote but she doesn t bash the male population. She writes an article
where she says not only why women should get the vote or why women should have the vote, but
rather she talks about why women should vote and why it is the responsibility of women to vote.
Many women around the country felt oppressed. Different groups, started to form as they fought for
women s rights. Groups such as National American Women

However, Kesserwani strongly believes that Arabizi might have severe cultural and linguistic
consequences (Salhani, 2013). Education System and Language
The impact of Arab s over reliance on English based technology has affected many other critical
aspects of Arab society. As Warschauer explained throughout his book, university level courses that
are taught in English are expanding nowadays to further include other linguistic courses such as
Arabic. Consequently, parents are forced to register their children in English based schools so they can
afford a good job in the future and maintain a high status in society (2002). However, this desire for
upward social mobility has led to cultural linguistic dualism (Findlow, 2006). Therefore, Arab youth
can speak, interact and even live with a linguistic mixture of Arabic and English. However, this
phenomenon can lead us to recognize these dramatic concepts language death , language loss ,
language decay and even linguistic genocide , which convey the increasing concerns about the future
of the Arabic language (Findlow, 2006).
Education has a critical role to play in the discourse of how the Arabic language is rapidly
disappearing from new generations lives and heavily displaced by English. Schools nowadays in the
Middle East adopt English as the major language of teaching and as a consequence they are teaching
Arabic to Arab students as a foreign language:

Joel s Imaginary Actions: Spotlighting in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
While music always plays a significant part to convey emotions in film, light can be used just as
effectively. The use of a special lighting technique is very noticeable in the memory scenes of Michel
Gondry s Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. A major part of Eternal Sunshine is spent inside the
protagonist Joel s mind. He is in the process of deleting his memory of Clementine, who was his
girlfriend for two years. Two main lighting styles are used throughout the scenes which play inside
Joel s mind. On one hand, natural bright lighting and on the other hand a darker setting with only one

other version of Joel is part of the memory and does not react to the Joel we are following around.
However, Mierzwiak acknowledges the Joel who enters the memory and starts talking to him. This
whole scene is only lit by one spotlight moving back and forth in a tracking shot between the three
characters. (Eternal Sunshine, 55:59 56:44) It is again, an event which has not happened in real life,
but is just part of Joel s imagination. This could not have been the way Joel perceives this specific

scenario. Joel is now contacting the memory he has of Mierzwiak instead of screaming his name out
into the void. He is trying out different tactics and none of them seem to

Analysis Of The Movie World Trade Center
Abstract
The movie World Trade Center (2006) recalls the accounts of two Port Authority police officers, Sgt.
John McLoughlin and Will Jimeno, their family, and close friends as they endure an event that
changed the history of America forever. This film conveys their daily lives at the time of the twin
towers destruction in New York, along with their families struggle with great uncertainty and fear.
Following along with Sgt. John and Will s own emotional and psychological traumatic endurances,
their families face tremendous struggles with guilt, anger, and rage. While many rescue personnel
stepped forward in the search for the many victims trapped underneath the rubble, there were several
distinguished individuals throughout the storyline that stepped up as crises interventionist who
courageously assisted in the rescue for Sgt. John and Will, and provided heartfelt support for their
families while helping to relieve the heavy burden of lack of certainty, overwhelming fear, and
anxiety. Using information gained throughout the course along with outside resources, this review of
World Trade Center will cover steps for alleviating the crisis, learning coping skills, and developing

In Mexico, midwives were considered to be the experts of maternal health care until the advancement
of biomedicine made them insignificant. Presently, there are high maternal mortality rates in the
country and now there is a movement to increase the practice of midwifery to solve this problem.
Many midwives believe that the medicalization of birth and hospital based obstetric practices are the
causes of the high maternal mortality rates. They aim to define and regulate specific obstetric practices

revision de cavidad. In this practice the doctor manually scrapes out the woman s uterus (after delivery
of the baby and placenta) with a gloved hand to make sure that no pieces of the placenta remain that
could cause infection (445). The WHO says that this practice is harmful and ineffective and should be

Group Dynamics And Its Developmental Stages
Abstract There are different stages through which a group passes, both as natural and in a school
atmosphere. According to the Oxford Dictionary, 2015, Group Dynamics, is the study or use of the
processes involved when people in a group interact. This paper will look to examine group dynamics
and its developmental stages in the context of a group randomly selected to make a class room
presentation which involved researching, forming of information to present findings to the class. It
will also look at how group goals were developed and if the group goals were specific and understood.
Group communication patterns will also be examined and its effectiveness discussed. We will also

One of the group members suggested that the entire group read the specific article and come ready to
discuss what each member understood from the article. After a group discussion of the article, another
member suggested that each member select a question they felt comfortable answering and presenting
in class. The group members also agreed a deadline as to when everyone needed to write up their part
of the presentation and turn it in to one members of a group who would gather the data and enter it
into a power point presentation format. Everyone in the group agreed that they would email me their
written part of the presentation. Prior to the classroom presentation, the group reviewed the data
entered in the power point, edited it and agreed as to the order of the information that would be
presented in class. Finally, the group gathered prior to the presentation and made last minute edits to
slides. The group agreed that there were too many slides and agreed to reduced them to a minimal
amount. After agreeing to the final PowerPoint presentation the group rehearsed the information to be
presented prior to the class meeting. This group did not experience the storming effect. No one in the
group believed that they were being judged and everyone was able to share their opinion and views.
As one member of the group stated that this was one of the easiest group she had ever been in because
everyone got along and no arguments over the project emerged.

Martin Luther King s Shattered Dream Essay
Martin Luther King s Shattered Dream
I have a dream is a phrase heard by more than 200,000 Americans on August 28, 1963, and since then,
Martin Luther King, Jr. s I have a dream has resonated through millions of heads and thoughts in the
world. Eyes search for the reality of his dream, ears search for the freedom bells ringing, hands search
for a brother s hand, and mouths search for the songs of freedom. Martin Luther King, Jr. dreamed of a
utopia where the colors of black and white would become so intertwined that shades of gray would
appeared. Martin Luther King, Jr. charged the American people to go out and create a perfect place,
and many people have tried, but as long as antiquated moral values remain, America will never ...

Black people can vote, run for political office, have a job other than being a servant or maid, and are
looked upon as citizens of the United States. Black people have achieved freedom from government
regulation.
However, even with this freedom, black men and women are still oppressed by white people, which
holds America back from realizing King s dream. Law no longer segregates schools, but there are still
separate schools. In Chattanooga, there are several schools that are primarily black, Howard High
School and Eastside Elementary, while at other schools, such as McCallie one sees only a few black
faces in a sea of white. Churches are the same way: Brainerd Presbyterian Church moved from
Brainerd Road because they were not able to reach the black community, and so they gave their
church building to Friendship Baptist, a predominantly black church. Housing areas are separated, not
by law, but by practice: Martin Luther King Boulevard, Alton Park, 4th Street Courts, and the Harriet
Tub s Housing Project are all considered bad areas of town because of the majority of black families.
Black people have gained freedom by laws, but black people continue to be oppressed by ingrown
practices that keep Martin Luther King s dream from becoming a reality.
King dreamed that one day [America] will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: We hold
these truths to

Comparing Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet And Baz Luhrmann
There are many different interpretations of William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet that have been
made into productions, but only a few directors are able to interpret his intentions perfectly. Romeo
and Juliet is a play written by William Shakespeare about two star crossed lovers, Romeo, a Montague
and Juliet, a Capulet. The two families have had a feud for a very long time, therefore Romeo and
Juliet being together would cause them to be punished. Knowing the consequences the two would face
if caught, they still get married and eventually die for each other. There are many similarities and
differences between two productions of Romeo and Juliet, one by Franco Zeffirelli and one by Baz
Luhrmann, but the way the intentions of Shakespeare are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the play, Shakespeare s intentions are for the readers to see the love Juliet has for Romeo. He
displays this when Juliet is speaking to Romeo from her balcony, she says to him that And the place
death, considering who thou art, if any of my kinsmen find thee here. (2.2.64 65). This shows that
Juliet does not want Romeo to die because she is very fond of him and warn Romeo that he can get
killed if he is found here, but Romeo does not care. Zeffirelli s production best portrays Shakespeare s
intentions because in the movie Juliet worries Romeo will get caught, which will result in him being
executed. She warns him, but Romeo does not seem to care and continues talking to her. In Luhrmann
s production, Romeo and Juliet both worry they will get caught. The Capulets have security cameras
installed near the pool and that is where the scene takes place. Therefore, they both worry about
getting caught by the security guard, which will result in punishment for them both. In conclusion,
Zeffirelli s production of Romeo and Juliet best interprets Shakespeare s intentions for Juliet s concern

Persuasive Essay About Syrian Refugees
The abundance of Syrian immigrants has been a controversial topic due to the recent activity
regarding terrorists. Many countries, such as United States and some European countries, choose not
to accept these Syrian refugees because of the predispositions they have towards them. These
countries fear terrorism, causing them to block off these people from entering their country. However,
the concerns held by these countries are wildly blown out of proportion in accordance to the actual
threat that refugees pose. The Syrian migrants should be welcomed in US and Europe because of
following reasons: the stereotypes that people have on these foreigners are absurd, these people must
be protected from outside forces, and their lifestyle is harmless. Particularly, the stereotypes and pre
existing portrayals of the Syrian refugees is absolutely ridiculous. The countries blocking these
immigrants are, quite fairly, afraid of terrorism. However, these countries greatly overvalue the
opinions of sensationalist media stories, creating a desire to be safe, rather than to be disturbed by
Syrian immigrants (Posner). Trump, our current president, even stated in an address to his supporters
during his campaign that, If [he] win[s], they are going back (Kallick et al.). This mentality is
unacceptable and should not give the President and others the right to alienate these Syrian refugees
because of their personal outlooks on refugees from countries filled with terrorism. Syrian immigrants

East Timor Research Paper
The Future of East Timor East Timor is one of the world s beautiful and vast tropical wildernesses. A
lot of the country s economic activity lies on the premises of the country s landscape. The economic
outlook of the country is centered on its history and potential for development. There are several
emerging industries and future sources of income present in East Timor that are based on the country s
environmental strengths. Tourism is somewhat popular in East Timor. Travel sites and companies have
created new advertising for the Timorese hotels and results. The government has also improved
infrastructure, airports, as well as preserved areas of the natural landscape. The natural beauty of the

Eve By Christina Rossetti
In A Daughter of Eve , Christina Rossetti describes a prostitute who regrets her decisions in the past;
this regret is sparked by her loss of virginity. Through the prostitute s perspective, Rossetti conveys
that a loss of innocence can lead to regret through her use of biblical references, contrast of time and
seasons, and evocative diction that helps augment her bitter tone of remorse.
Firstly, the title is a reference to the myth of Adam and Eve, the first man and woman and ancestors of
all human beings. The daughter of eve at first glance seems to represent the prostitute a female human.
Upon further thinking, it is likely that the title connects to how all women are prone to temptation,
much like how Eve was tempted to eat the apple. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the first stanza of the poem the speaker writes A fool I was to sleep at noon,/ And wake when night
is chilly (Rossetti 1 2) Noon is the time of the day when it is bright outside and has connotations to
innocence, whereas the chilly night has a negative connotation. This is especially supported in the next
line where the speaker describes the chilly night Beneath the comfortless cold moon; (Rossetti 3). This
further enforces the negative connotation of night. This contrast between night and day further
symbolizes the prostitute s loss of innocence and the remorse she feels. Furthermore, a similar scheme
can be seen in the second stanza where the speaker contrasts the seasons of summer and winter. She
recalls Oh it was summer when I slept,/ It s winter now I awaken. (Rossetti 9 10) Summer is typically
seen as a season of joy and winter is perceived as the cold season of despair. In line 11, Rossetti writes
Talk what you please of future spring (Rossetti 11). Spring is seen as the season of a new start; the
speaker regrets her decisions so much as to yearn for a new start. Moreover, Rossetti is trying to
express the pain and suffering that comes from the regretful

Speech On Chewing Gum
You know how gum commercials always boast that their product can give you a fresher, cleaner
mouth, well, that s not entirely a lie. But is chewing gum good for your teeth? When we eat, little bits
of food get stuck between our teeth or behind those permanent retainers that a lot of people have these
days. If that food gets to hang out long enough, it will become a breeding ground for bacteria. That
bacteria can lead to cavities and infections, and really, isn t an infection in the main hole in your face
that s pretty close to your brain about the last thing you want?
Chewing gum, but no sugar!
If chewing gums are good for the teeth, they will be only the sugar free ones, or those in which the
sugar is completely replaced by sweeteners (xylitol, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Complete the brushing with a mouthwash once a day.
Use a fluoride toothpaste.
Change your toothbrush when the bristles begin to curve and at least once every three months.
Rinse mouth with a glass of water after a snack (which is also recommended).
Make an appointment to the dentist every year for a minimum scaling.
Should we force ourselves into chewing gum?
No need to force yourself to chew gum if you also follow the other good oral hygiene instructions and
if you do not nibble between meals. You should also consider some side effects like gasifying.
Sweeteners ferment in the digestive system and can promote the production of gases that cause
flatulence.
The simple act of chewing increases the amount of air swallowed, and therefore promotes the belching
gas.
The best thing is to test the gum after lunch and see if there is any gasifying problems before deciding
whether or not to adopt this complementary oral hygiene habit.
Conclusion:
So is chewing gum good for your teeth? The answer would be YES. But only if the chewing gum is
sugar free or contain sweeteners such as Xylitol and combined with good oral hygiene habits. I talk
here about teeth brushing and

European And Non-European Expansion In The 1500s And 1600s
Europeans had many ambitions throughout the 1500s and 1600s. To achieve their goals, they deferred
to the non European culture. The main question remains: how did the Europeans accommodate
themselves to Non European culture? The European traders and missionaries would accommodate
themselves by integrating into the Non European culture, by adapting their physical appearance, by
referring to the traditional practices, and through the response of the native people wants to European
goods.
For Europe s influence to be successful across the world, they had a guide written by Father Jean de
Brébeuf, called Instructions for The Fathers of Our Society Who Shall Be Sent to The Hurons. In this
small guide, Father Jean, writes instruction for other European members to follow in order to be
successful in their influence in the new world. The thought of being the superior race, followed them
to the new world, so embracing a culture that they thought was low class, was a big change to the
European men. As to the other numerous things which may be unpleasant, they must be endured for
the love of God, without saying anything or appearing to notice them. They did not do anything that
contradicts the Natives belief, as they were trying to convert them to the idealized culture. They were
doing so in a way that the Natives did not realize they were being converted. So, the Europeans
change their normal customs, to gain their trust. In which they accommodate to non European ways.

The Body As A Metaphor For Society
In Andean society many societies and cultures generally believed that all things, such as mountains,
rivers, and waterfalls had life (Benson 2001: 1). The Andean individuals believed that all inanimate
objects were thus animated. This ideology not only influenced the way they thought about the world,
but also the way they treated and viewed the body. The body is a very important and useful theme in
archeology as the body acts as a metaphor for society, the way a society/culture treats the body
provides vital important regarding their worldview. In addition, the body is a tool of lived experience
which can indicate how individuals lived, what was sacred or important to them and also shedding
light on who they were. In other words, by understanding how bodies were conceptualized in Andean
societies archeologist can indicate the significance of certain ritual practices. It is important to
deconstruct the body as it provides social truths regarding a specific culture within the Andean region.
Furthermore, people do things to their bodies which may help archeologists understand their belief
system, the practices/work they may have been doing. For example, if an individual spends their
whole life grinding corn the body would reflect this activity and thus would be able provide
information regarding that culture. This theme concerning the body pushes us to consider distinct
ontologies as different cultures and societies developed differently and thus has diverse beliefs,

level of hope based on their interactions with the landscape.
The landscape of The Road is constructed with the repetition of words like dark and ashes to create the
sense of a desolate country built from the remains of what existed prior to it. Mrs. Mallard in The
Story of an Hour looks out her window to a landscape that is described as blooming with the new

  • 2. Informal Fallacies Of An Informal Fallacy Our lives revolve around money. The value of a dollar does not buy much anymore; everything comes with a price tag. The media likes to entice people with catchy slogans, celebrities or any other setup just so they can obtain our money. Once they grasp our attention we realize most of these attention grabbers had no relation to their argument or what they are trying to sell. Thus the correct term for the types of misleading ads and television commercials is called informal fallacies. The purpose of an informal fallacy can be to enact reactions from the audience, used to discredit a person or lastly appeal to a certain outlook. They mainly lack the validity in order to prove their argument. The media provides us with many scenarios using different forms of informal fallacies. I will provide three notable examples of informal fallacies by explaining the type of fallacy and why the media used this fallacy. To start off, I should first differentiate between a formal and informal fallacy. A formal argument is when the argument lacks the correct structural form. The form of the fallacy will then be able to tell us if the fallacy is valid or invalid. The difference is in the way the argument is written, informal fallacies lack context in order to make the argument. For example, I came across a nationwide commercial that took a different approach in order to sell to the public. Rather than sell to their audience some reasons why they should chose to consult with the company they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Thesis Statement On Job Satisfaction Pearson and Seiler (1983) found in their research on 336 faculty members from 24 universities in Unites States, predictors for job satisfaction were tenure, teaching load, gender, institution type as in private or public, and age. Salary and ranking on the other hand surprising did not play a big role in influencing perceived job satisfaction. In comparison, it was found that those in professional colleges reported higher job satisfaction than those in general college. Those who reported higher job satisfaction were those with higher salaries, lower teaching loads, and speedier promotion rate. The researchers further explain the possibilities to why lecturers from professional colleges reported higher satisfaction was because of the job security ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Olsen, work stress or job related stress were related to time management conflicts, compensation issues such as salary, feedback and job security. The level of job stress will play a role in determining job satisfaction level as suggested by the research done by Usman and colleagues in Punjab in 2011. The researchers posited that the higher work stress experienced by the faculty members, the lower will be their satisfaction with their job. High job stress will also lead to lower organizational commitment (Usman, Ahmed, Ahmed, Akbar, 2011). The researchers suggested that by minimizing role ambiguity, it will directly reduce the role stress experience by the teaching members and indirectly lower job stress as a whole. Thompson and Dey (1998) found that sources of stress for African American college and university faculty were time constraints, promotion concerns, and overall stress. Thompson and Dey also found that stress regardless of sources negatively affecting job satisfaction. The most prominent evidence in the researchers finding was the negative effect of stress in regarding of promotion towards the level of job satisfaction. In fact the researchers found that the more stress the respondents were about promotion, the least satisfied they were about aspects such as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is due to the fact that the client has recently experienced the death of her spouse. This mode deals with affectional adequacy and developmental adequacy. Affectional adequacy is defined as the ability to give and receive affection from others (Nickerson, 2015). This is important to an individual because it deals with the human need associated with nurturing. This includes receptive and contributive factors (Nickerson, 2015). Since the client has lost her spouse, she stated that she felt that she did not receive the kind of affection her spouse gave her. Of course her family loves her and treats her well, but she stated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The structural component of this mode includes the significant other. Since this person is no longer alive, she cannot receive the same nurturing that she once had. Another aspect of this mode is the client s support system. The other aspects of this client s support system include the rest of the family, her children, grandchildren, and extended family. In addition, the client s giving behaviors include making gifts for others, providing love/care to her grandchildren, and ensuring that her family members feel loved and supported. However, the receiving behaviors of the client are not as evident. Some stimuli for this nursing diagnosis include the focal stimuli, which is the fact that the client lost her husband last year. A contextual stimulus includes the family dynamic and the separation of most of the family from the other, during this period of adjustment to the death of her spouse. • 5. The View of Absolute Monarchies The View of Absolute Monarchies The extent to which rulers and their subjects viewed the role of an absolute monarch was different. The time of this political issue on absolute monarchies was around the 1600s. There were people for the absolute monarchies, people with their own monarchies and people against monarchies. Each one had there own idea for what the role of the monarchy was the people against it thought it was oppressive the people for it thought it was because people couldn t rule on their own and the rulers viewed it as a chance to gain more power. There were people in this time that did not like the idea of an absolute monarchy because they were being oppressed. An example of this would be The Twelve Articles a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They like the idea because they get more power than if they had a constitutional monarchy. King James the 6th of Scotland (Doc 4) says that the parliament is ruled by the king and doesn t do anything at all and shouldn t. This is an argument showing that he doesn t want parliament to have power therefore giving him more power under the monarchy. He also talks a little bit about how people need him to make laws, which is also an argument for this type of monarchy. This document is reliable because the information comes from a book written by James himself. His POV is of a king and he just wants more power. Catherine the Great empress of Russia (Doc 8) wrote an instruction to the Legislative Commission of 1767. The legislative commission is a group of representatives who made new laws. The laws that Catherine wanted passed were rule that the sovereign was absolute and the Extent of Dominion requires an absolute power to be vested in that person who rules it. This shows that she wanted an absolute monarchy in Russia and that she also talks about how the absolute monarchy is not to take away peoples natural liberties but to correct their actions to obtain the supreme good. She says a man may do whatever he wants but she is still in favor of an absolute monarchy very much so but instead for power she wants it because humans cannot rule themselves and because she wants power. Webvan s non traditional operating model was also an issue. The use of non standard pallet configurations was an example of how large suppliers made accommodations for a smaller reseller. It is assumed that Webvan s supplier relations were complicated by its non standard shipping requirements, and the sheer number of vendors the company worked with. Finally, Webvan s systems, though highly automated, were extremely expensive, overly customized (and thus hard to upgrade) and insufficiently funded to support expansion into new markets. SWOT Analysis: Opportunities First, the $650B size of the US grocery market was a major opportunity; only a small percentage of this market would be required for a company to have significant profits. Second, both web purchases and, in particular, online grocery consumer purchases were predicted to increase. The $16.8B in online grocery sales was predicted to represent 1 out of every 5 dollars spent online by 2004 (see figure 1). Third, customer data opportunities were emerging through all online retailers. Webvan s ability to leverage customer purchasing information and its ability to share this data with its suppliers constituted an advantage over traditional grocery competitors. Finally, capital markets in the late 1990s were eagerly funding start up companies. SWOT ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The New Public Of Public Management The New Public Service draws motivation from democratic political theory and alternative approaches to management and organizational design growing from the tradition in public administration theory. The government fulfills a responsibility to citizens because they ensure that there are procedures to guarantee successful operation of democratic principles through voting, representation and due process (Catlaw Denhardt, 2015, 2011, 2008). As citizens we have the role of developing the capacity to be consistent with interests and to respect the rights of other people to do the same. Smaller groups are called civil society and they are important because they work out personal interests. The New Public management has championed a dream of public administrators as the business visionaries of another, leaner, and progressively privatized government, duplicating the practices as well as the values of business (Catlaw Denhardt, 2015, 2011, 2008). Advocates of the New Public management have built up their debates generally through compare and contrast in relation to the public organizations. The New Public management will, obviously, dependably win. We continue to argue that the better comparison is with what we call the New Public Service, a development based on work in just democratic citizenship, group and society (Catlaw Denhardt, 2015, 2011, 2008). However, Kesserwani strongly believes that Arabizi might have severe cultural and linguistic consequences (Salhani, 2013). Education System and Language The impact of Arab s over reliance on English based technology has affected many other critical aspects of Arab society. As Warschauer explained throughout his book, university level courses that are taught in English are expanding nowadays to further include other linguistic courses such as Arabic. Consequently, parents are forced to register their children in English based schools so they can afford a good job in the future and maintain a high status in society (2002). However, this desire for upward social mobility has led to cultural linguistic dualism (Findlow, 2006). Therefore, Arab youth can speak, interact and even live with a linguistic mixture of Arabic and English. However, this phenomenon can lead us to recognize these dramatic concepts language death , language loss , language decay and even linguistic genocide , which convey the increasing concerns about the future of the Arabic language (Findlow, 2006). Education has a critical role to play in the discourse of how the Arabic language is rapidly disappearing from new generations lives and heavily displaced by English. Schools nowadays in the Middle East adopt English as the major language of teaching and as a consequence they are teaching Arabic to Arab students as a foreign language:

  • 28. Persuasive Essay About Syrian Refugees The abundance of Syrian immigrants has been a controversial topic due to the recent activity regarding terrorists. Many countries, such as United States and some European countries, choose not to accept these Syrian refugees because of the predispositions they have towards them. These countries fear terrorism, causing them to block off these people from entering their country. However, the concerns held by these countries are wildly blown out of proportion in accordance to the actual threat that refugees pose. The Syrian migrants should be welcomed in US and Europe because of following reasons: the stereotypes that people have on these foreigners are absurd, these people must be protected from outside forces, and their lifestyle is harmless. Particularly, the stereotypes and pre existing portrayals of the Syrian refugees is absolutely ridiculous. The countries blocking these immigrants are, quite fairly, afraid of terrorism. However, these countries greatly overvalue the opinions of sensationalist media stories, creating a desire to be safe, rather than to be disturbed by Syrian immigrants (Posner). Trump, our current president, even stated in an address to his supporters during his campaign that, If [he] win[s], they are going back (Kallick et al.). This mentality is unacceptable and should not give the President and others the right to alienate these Syrian refugees because of their personal outlooks on refugees from countries filled with terrorism. • 33. Eve By Christina Rossetti In A Daughter of Eve , Christina Rossetti describes a prostitute who regrets her decisions in the past; this regret is sparked by her loss of virginity. Through the prostitute s perspective, Rossetti conveys that a loss of innocence can lead to regret through her use of biblical references, contrast of time and seasons, and evocative diction that helps augment her bitter tone of remorse. Firstly, the title is a reference to the myth of Adam and Eve, the first man and woman and ancestors of all human beings. The daughter of eve at first glance seems to represent the prostitute a female human. Upon further thinking, it is likely that the title connects to how all women are prone to temptation, much like how Eve was tempted to eat the apple. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the first stanza of the poem the speaker writes A fool I was to sleep at noon,/ And wake when night is chilly (Rossetti 1 2) Noon is the time of the day when it is bright outside and has connotations to innocence, whereas the chilly night has a negative connotation. This is especially supported in the next line where the speaker describes the chilly night Beneath the comfortless cold moon; (Rossetti 3). This further enforces the negative connotation of night. This contrast between night and day further symbolizes the prostitute s loss of innocence and the remorse she feels. Furthermore, a similar scheme can be seen in the second stanza where the speaker contrasts the seasons of summer and winter. She recalls Oh it was summer when I slept,/ It s winter now I awaken. (Rossetti 9 10) Summer is typically seen as a season of joy and winter is perceived as the cold season of despair. In line 11, Rossetti writes Talk what you please of future spring (Rossetti 11).
