2. Being A Man In The Wonderer And Beowulf
Allica Cardona

To Be or Not To Be .. a Man
Being a man during the medieval period meant a lot more than being a man in the twenty first
century. There were certain expectations, and above all, different aspects when it came down to
what being a man was. Some things that are very evident are kinship, brotherhood, male to male
relationships, and bonding. While reading The Wonderer and Beowulf, it is very easy to pick out
spots where these different aspects are shown. So, how exactly do we know how these acts are
being portrayed?
While reading Beowulf, right off the back the reader can get a sense of what being a man means.
There is a bond of unity from the very beginning. Brotherhood and kinship go hand in hand
because even though Beowulf did not need any help from the men who traveled with him, they all
stood by him and were there for moral support. The relationships between men seemed like they
were a lot more important, than those with women. Not only are women rarely mentioned during
this time, but when they were, they were often portrayed as damsels in distress. This is where
kinship and brotherhood go hand in hand. Just because these men were not of the same bloodline,
that did not make them any less of a family. There was always constant support, especially for
Beowulf, and no one ever really went against each other.
The bonding between men can be seen in two different ways in Beowulf. One way it can be seen
is the fact

Where the Grand Canyon and Lake Mead collide, sits an ecological and historical oasis. The Virgin
Mountains stand tall in the background as waterfront views of Mead paint an unforgettable scene.
This desert abode served as host for early prehistoric inhabitants, Native Americans, early pioneers,
Spanish miners, and presently outdoor enthusiasts. Adventurists have the opportunity to explore
over 800 miles of intertwining roads that braid the landscape. Gold Butte has remained one of
Mojave s most precious secrets for decades. This elegant desert hides only an hour and a half drive
east of Las Vegas and just south of Mesquite, Nevada. Gold Butte s ecosystem is comprised of
diverse organisms, many of which are sacred and protected plants and animals. Joshua trees sit
nestled deep in the mineral enriched sand, while the bighorn sheep and tortoise roam the vast desert
terrain. The almost 350,000 acres of public land is sculpted with rugged mountains, sandstone
outcroppings, yucca forests, slot canyons, and flat top mesas. Is it possible that a place with such a
unique array of wildlife and history can exist and remain a secret? Unfortunately, due to many
factors over the past 20 years, Gold Butte has been on center stage, but not just for tourism.
The technological uses of smartphones, GPS, digital maps, the internet, and even social websites
have made it inherently impossible to keep public lands a secret. However, Gold

Various authors, poets, and playwrights have portrayed different stages of marriages in their works
such as Godwin s A Sorrowful Woman, Duhamel s How It Will End, and Jarvik s Dead Right,
respectively by discussing certain elements in each couple s relationship. Each creative piece is
centered on important components that either show a strong marriageor depict a couple who is on
the verge of separation. These components communication, honesty, respect, commitment, and
intimacy are beneficial to keep a marriage healthy by allowing couples to work out their marital

According to UCLA psychologists Thomas Bradbury and Benjamin Karney, who co authored a
study together, providing commitment within a marriage ensures that the couple would tackle
their problems adequately (Wolpert, Here is What Real Commitment to Your Marriage Means ).
The study showed that more than seventy percent of married couples who had participated in
their work remained married, while twenty percent divorced (Wolpert, Here is What Real
Commitment to Your Marriage Means ). When entering a romantic relationship, both individuals
agree to commit to one another for as long as their unity lasts. Giving their full commitment
within a marriage also establishes a long lasting love. The poem To His Coy Mistress exhibits a
great example of this, with its speaker assuring his romantic partner, ... While thy willing soul
transpires / At every pore with instant fires / Now let us sport us while we may... (Marvell, 602).
The narrator promises his mistress that he would fully commit to their relationship, and their love
would fight through rough strife / thorough the iron gates of life (Marvell, 602). Moreover, the
speaker in the poem Oxygen states to his/her spouse: ... You are breathing / patiently; it is a
beautiful sound... / And what does this have to do / with love, except everything? (Oliver, 610).
Despite not explicitly telling the reader, it is very clear that the narrator is willing to commit
himself/herself fully into the relationship, and describes their love as an invisible gift / our purest,

give heavier load as they get stretch up. These bands range between resistances of 15 400

9. Progressive Era Of Education Essay
The Progressive Era of Education The twentieth century only saw an increase in the
industrialization and urbanization that began in the nineteenth century. The new social, political
and economic problems that began to emerge due to all of the changes developing in America
during these times led to a need for reform. Reform was needed throughout society whether it was
in regards to immigrants, civil rights, regulating trusts, or woman s rights to name a few. These
problems extended equally into the problems that educational progressives sought out to reform.
John Dewey is commonly used as the embodiment of progressive erareformation ideas but there
were others as well, such as Grace C. Strachan, George Counts, and Booker T. Washington. John
Dewey is considered to have been a pedagogical progressivist, meaning he focused on education
reform by first reforming the way that the teaching was actually done. In the past education
focused on teaching children facts, mostly by learning with repetition. This was a problem
because it taught children information but not how to use that mindfulness with critical thinking
in real world situations. These problems led John Dewey to write a series of articles that
described his views on teaching and how it should be improved upon, this is called My Pedagogic
Creed . Dewey wanted to equally incorporate a psychological, the abilities and interest of the
student, and sociological, the needs and commitments of the society, aspect into teaching. He
believed that children were born with blank slates and throughout their lives they would receive
guidance unconsciously and be molded into adults (Dewey, 1). So the introduction of these aspects
would help the molded children into better citizens and that would help drive the social economy
into prosperity and overall a better democratic society.
Dewey focused on the individual saying that education comes through the stimulation of the child s
powers by the demands of the social situations in which he finds himself (Dewey, 1). He believed
that you have to tap into an individual s own powers, tastes, and interests say then that could be
used to relate it to past, current, and potential future social situations in which to

to make decisive decisions ourselves those many practices we have to meet the exigencies of that

1. Pattern of Conflict consists of thoughts and actions for winning and losing in a very competitive
environment.
2. The Strategic Game of ? also, ? stresses the different mental turns and twist that we deal with to
surface suitable fitting designs or outlines for understanding our aim or cause.
3. Organic Design for Command and Control surfaces the certain plans or actions that allow
cooperation in unpredictable, competitive, quick moving situations.
4. Destruction and Creation lays out in conceptual however graphic design the routes by which we
develop mental concepts to understand and cope to our surroundings;

of their uses within the film Johnny Mnemonic (Longo 1995). Along with convergence theory, this
essay will touch on Dystopianism, Vincent Mosco s Myth , and the notion of Symptomatic
technology. It is the intention of this paper to cover each topic in turn, using them to pick apart
and examine the sample film. Johnny Mnemonic is the 1995 film adaptation of William Gibson s

As in this example, Convergence relies extensively on the active participation of the medium s
users. In this vein, the producers of convergence media actively encourage users to explore and
make further connections between multiple media outlets, creating in the process, a shift in the
cultures of the users (Jenkins 2006). Convergence of media doesn t simply happen across various
media sources within one culture, but can also connect varying media outlets in differing cultures
simultaneously. Johnny made a phone call from Newark to Beijing via the Net. The Net is
convergent technology using electricity, video software to project a 3 dimensional version of the
internet that allows users to interact directly with the Net, audio adaptations to allow for audio
interactions with the servers, and a connection from the individual terminal to the main server of
the Net. The entire world which Johnny inhabits is comprised of convergent technologies. At the
start of the film, Johnny is awoken by an alarm that is controlled by a remote placed on the
headboard of the bed and originate in the television screen (Image 3a). This same screen is used
to check his messages (Image 3b) and make a phone call to his handler, Ralfi, setting the stage for

12. Persuasive Essay On Electronic Voting
If you re over the age of eighteen maybe you have thought about voting at least once. Everyone
should be able to vote, but with computers emerging as the main source of technology of modern
society, a city in the United States is considering using electronic voting machines(EVMs) for the
next election. These machines would be used in place of traditional paper ballots. And citizens are
divded on whether their city should use EVMs or continue to vote through traditional paper ballots.
Here are the different perspectives on an issue of importance. In favor of using electronic voting
ballots, some citizens in the U.S.A feel electronic voting machines help more people vote more
easily. In 2003 97% of voters of different ages, races, and physical ability said they had no trouble
using the machines. A 2006 poll in Utah returned almost the same result. Even voters of different
languages can smoothly adapt from using the electronic voting machines over the paper ballots.
Since the costs of printing is high the many different languages are limited for the paper ballots,
so without EVMs voters who do not read english well have to ask the poll workers for help
making privacy impossible. Citizens also agree with using EVMs over paper ballots because they
are safe. They aren t connected to the internet, where hacking often occurs, so they can t be
tampered with. Voters with security questions do not need to worry. They capture votes
electronically and store them in

15. The Looking Glass Self And Identity
The looking glass self state by Antonio is a social psychology ideology that suggests that people s
self image develops out of their interactions with others and what other people perceive about
them. This concept, introduced by Charles Horton Cooley in 1902, suggests the development of
one s self and identity via interactions with others in the context of a society. Cooley underlined
that the society comprise of a network of inter working mental perceptions about one another.
According to Lisa McIntyre s The Practical Skeptic: Core Concepts in Sociology, (2013) the
concept of the looking glass self, influences the urge for one to study and understand oneself by
reflecting on the manner in which other people regard them, with the narrowed effect being the
development of a sense of identity. Therefore, self identity is the achieved result of viewing
ourselves as others do.
The looking glass self commences at early age and develops all along a person s life since one
will continue modifying their self unless all social engagements are stopped. For Antonio, this
concept has been brought on board by causes of socialization like answerability. Answerability is
an agent of socialization that focus on calculating how to satisfy the expectations of others.
(Kenny, 2012). By being the underlying ingredient of social reason and action, answerability is
simply holding responsibility and being answerable for actions. It is characterized in terms of its

17. How Does Elasticity Affect The Airline Industry
Elasticity is a term that describes how much the demand or supply for a product or service
changes in relation to that product s price. Every product on the market today has an alternate
level of elasticity. Products considered necessities by a majority of consumers are typically less
affected by price changes, causing them less elastic. In other word, if the product is not considered
essential for the consumers they are likely to buy less when the price increased, making that
product elastic.
The two markets I choose to discuss are Airline Industry which will be characterized as an elastic
demand and Pharmaceutical Companies (Insulin) which will be characterized by an inelastic
demand.
Elastic demand means that demand for a product is sensitive to price changes. For example, if
the market value of a product increased, there will be fewer units sold. If the market value of a
product decreases, there will be an increase in the quantity of units sold. Elastic demand is also
referred to as the price elasticity of demand . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

18. Film Genre As A Reflection Of Film And American Society
Genre is a reflection of society. Film noir is a genre that has a distinctive relationship with the
American society from 1941 1958 because it reflects America s fears and concerns from when
they experienced major upheaval after The Great Depression and during World War I. In particular,
the unstable atmosphere from the aftermath of World War 1 as Bruce Crowther, author of the book
Film Noir: Reflections in a Dark Mirror , elaborates on how Film Noir films produce a dark quality
that derived as much from the character s depiction as from the cinematographer s art. These dark
moods are transparent through the key features of the femme fatale, the film techniques and the
impact of the Hay s code on American film and American society.
Film Noir as a genre is set in a specific period of time. It is also a genre that is considered to be
related to a specific society that of America from 1940 1958. Film Noir as a genre is a term that
French critic Nino Frank coined to describe the new film movement emerging from Hollywood
in the 1940 s, which appeared to be black and white, crime and detective films. But these two
prominent characteristics do not form the genre alone. Stylistic film features such as mood, style
and tone are very eminent in Film Noir however it was not always considered as a film genre, but
this is what makes the film genre so distinctive. Film Noir was a new movement or cycle of films
as it consisted of expressionistic lighting techniques such as low

21. Casino Legal Environment
The main topics or laws that I have learned are Business Structure, Government Regulation, and
Legal Environment Business. I work for a Casino, so I know we used these three topics. Business
Structure is a organization framework legally recognized in a particular jurisdiction for conducting
commercial activities, such as sole proprietorship, partnership, and corporation. Most types of
government regulation involve the setting up and enforcement of standards for conducting
legitimate activities. My concern here is with government regulation of business or economic
affairs by municipal, county, state, and Federal politicians and bureaucrats.
During the past few years, the case for such regulation has been spelled out in fairly clear and
general terms. I wish to examine the arguments which are based on moral considerations, since it is
such arguments that matter in the defense of the authority of the state to treat its citizens in various
ways. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Management involves the administration of the properties and realms which the government owns.
For example, the national parks and forests are managed by government, not regulated. So is the
interstate highway system. In contrast, toy manufacturing, which is an activity of private business,
is regulated by government, as are the manufacture and sale of many foods and drugs, the
production of cars, and the practice of law, medicine, and other occupations.
The legal environment of business refers to the code of conduct that defines the legal boundaries
for business activity. To understand these boundaries, it is essential to first have a basic
understanding of the law and how it affects businesses and business practices. The nature of
business spans over a number of legal realms, all of which are continuously influenced by the needs
and demands of the business community, consumers, and the government. Each has a distinct stake

22. The Literature On Equality Dated Back Long Ago
The literature on equality dated back long ago and was more of a statistical issue prior to Rawls
philosophical contribution. The Rawlsian philosophy was based on providing justice beyond
maximizing the civil liberties. His idea difference principle was to make people equal by having
a set of institutions that allocate the worst off individuals the maximum level of primary goods .
He viewed, in this regard, primary goods as the goods necessary for the success of any life plan
and hence ensuring an equal primary good bundles is a way of making a person responsible for
his life plan choice. The other philosophers like Jensen (1969) and Herrenstein (1971) deduced in
their papers that the existence of inequalityis due to differential intelligence of the individuals and
hence rendering the society an equal income distribution is merely an imagination. Their views
were contradicted by the other thinkers like Bowles (1973) and Colinsk (1974) who thought of the
inequality as an outcome of unequal opportunity. However, it was Dworkin (1981), Arneson (1989)
or Cohen (1989) who introduced the personal responsibilityinto the literature on equality. Dworkin
(1981 a,b) argued about how lack of internal resources can be overcome by external wealth
distribution and introduced responsibility into achieving the equality in the society. Unlike Rawls,
Dworkin emphasized on preferences instead of primary goods and showed that preferences of
individuals matter into the welfare

Physical strength is important because a person s body can only withstand so much. According
to Grayson Schaffer in The Value of a Sherpa Life the Sherpa porters struggle to survive in the
hardships and conditions they face. He writes, The men who were struck were carrying 80
pound loads to Camps I and II, or they were on their way back to base camp (1). This shows how
hard the Sherpas work and the weight of the supplies they have to withstand. Similarly, members on
the James Caird have to withstand the major hurricane and massive waves coming over the boat. In

Sherpas need good physical strength to survive. Without the hard work of the Sherpa porters, it
would be largely impossible for Americans and Europeans with slightly above average
physiology, and well above average disposable income, to scale the world s tallest mountain
(Schaffer 1). Without the help and strength of Sherpas, many people would not survive the climb.
The crew members on the Caird need to be strong to survive their tough journey. Worsley s report
of the conversation was intended as a tribute to Shackleton s courage in undertaking such a
dangerous voyage (Alexander 6). The author is telling us that the crew had to be strong to survive
this treacherous journey. The people with better physical strength had greater chances of survival
during Hurricane Maria. Starting on Sept. 20, 2017, Hurricane Maria swamped Puerto Rico with
20 inches of rain and battered it with 150 mph winds for over 30 hours (Conversation). These

Secondly, the importance of using after tax discount rates and the
equivalency of net present value rates of return and internal rates of return that follow as a
consequence is reviewed, again discussed in detail in [1], [2] and [3]. This foundation provides the
critical model structure and valuation framework from which risk adjusted discount rates and
liability beta can be determined.
An important principle is introduced that being that the risk adjusted total rate of return must equal
the risk free rate. This fundamental principle provides a stepping stone from which a direct
estimate of the liability beta becomes possible within the total return framework. Liability betas are
shown in The
relationship to the total return to shareholders and the linkage with equity betas demonstrated.
sensitivity of the underwriting profit margin to variations in loss payout, investment yield, market
risk premium and leverage is demonstrated and discussed.
Liability betas cannot be directly measured, and Cummins [6] and Fairley [9] presented
approaches to estimate them. Kozik [10] discussed the many problematic aspects of CAPM and
liability beta theory, demonstrating why any estimate of liability beta is likely to be subject to
much debate. It is important to keep in mind, however, that the development of a liability beta is a
secondary objective to that of determining the appropriate risk adjusted discount, rate. This paper
proposes a shift in focus
27. What Are The Advantages Of Free Trade
BENEFITS OF FREE TRADE
The benefits of free trade include:
1. The Theory of Comparative Advantage
This explains that by specializing in goods where countries have a lower opportunity cost, there
can be an increase in economic welfare for all countries. Free trade enables countries to specialize
in those goods where they have a comparative advantage.
2. Reducing Tariff barriers leads to trade creation
Trade creation occurs when consumption switches from high cost producers to low cost producers.
3. Increased Exports.
As well as benefits for consumers importing goods, firms exporting goods where the UK has a
comparative advantage will also see a big improvement in economic welfare. Lower tariffs on UK

Free trade policy runs smoothly if all the countries follow the same. If some countries do not adopt
it, the system cannot work gainfully.
2. Free trade may prove advantageous to developed and technologically advanced nations, but less
developed countries are certainly at a disadvantage on account of unfavorable terms of trade.
3. Competition induced under free trade is unfair and unhealthy. Backward countries cannot
compete with advanced countries.
4. Gains of trade are not equally distributed under free trade due to unequal state of development of
different countries.
5. A country with unfavorable balance of payments finds it difficult to overcome this situation under
free trade policy.
6. Free trade may encourage interdependence and discourage self sufficiency. But, in the matter of
defense each country should have self reliance and self sufficiency as far as possible.
Despite the clamor of the classical economists about the advantages of the free trade, the policy has
either not been adopted by many countries or abandoned by those who had already adopted it.

30. The Pros And Cons Of The NFL Protests
NFL Protests: Counterproductive Free Speech
Arguably, when it comes to personal freedoms, Americans have the most as compared to other
industrialized nations. In the United States, (US) its citizens are guaranteed unalienable rights as
put down in The Constitution via its amendments. More than one might realize, Americans often
take these freedoms for granted only asserting them when someone else brings them to mind. Such
is the case now playing out in professional football stadiums across the country, as illustrated by the
many players in the National Football League (NFL) who choose to kneel or sit during the National
Anthem prior to the start of the game. While most Americans agree the players do have a right to
protest, many believe the time and place of these protests are the issue. When the observance of
the National Anthem takes place, players are on the field and in uniform, representing their teams
and the league and therefore are at work. When other American workers are at work, there is an
expectation of specific conduct as defined by a set of rules. This is also true for the NFL. While
companies have various reasons for implementing these rules, they are, in fact designed to protect
the company and its assets. Therefore, workplace policies such as limiting free speech, are
necessary and beneficial not only to create and maintain an environment where employees can
focus on their jobs without unnecessary distraction, but also to protect the company, its

32. Healthy Eating Unhealthy Ogden
HEALTHY EATING
INTRODUCTION
Ogden (2017) has defined health behavior as any behavior that has a positive or negative impact on
that individual s health status. For example, healthy eating, physical activity, safe sex, and wearing
seat belts are behaviors that would positively impact a person s health, while the opposite behaviors,
unhealthy eating, sedentary lifestyle, unsafe sex and desisting from wearing seat belts, can
negatively impact the health of an individual. This written assignment will discuss healthy eating
habits that my family has vigilantly engaged in for the last several years and the beliefs that have
motivated us to adapt this behavior. Before we got engaged in this behavior, we had no idea that an
individual s health outcome is largely determined by what they eat and how they eat it. Constantly
seeking information about diet and healthy eating in general, we gradually changed our behavior
concerning our eating habits. We strongly believed that we could take control of our health status
by deliberately choosing what to and what not to eat.
DISCUSSION
French and British Psychological Society (2010) have stated that health behavior may be
categorized into two: risk increasing behaviors and health promoting behaviors. To live a healthy
lifestyle, we resolved to avoid the former and adapt the latter, and the behavior that we felt was
crucial to pay attention to was healthy eating. French British Psychological Society have
emphasized that the modern food

35. Life In A City Is Better Than Living In The City
Kimi иѓЎеЉј No. 0210650 12/30/10 Persuasive Essay (Revised) Life in Cities is of More Quality
in China In recent years, people have paid close attention to the quality of daily life a lot, and
one of the most heated debating topics is whether people should choose to live in the city or in
the countryside in China. There are millions of peasants living in rural areas, but a large number
of them are rushing into urban areas to get a job every year. People living in the countryside are
anxious to begin their urban life, meanwhile people in cities prefer to live a peaceful life far away
from town. As for me, in China, living in the cityis much better than living in the countryside in
that citizens would surely live a more convenient life, have more choices in every aspect of life
and would also achieve a sense of accomplishment in their enriching life. Since some areas of
countryside in China are still in poor situation, cities offer people a more comfortable and
convenient life. In some suburban regions, it is troublesome to go out, but the transportation
system in almost every city in China is quite developed now. Citizens could choose different
vehicles as they wish in cities, such as car, bus, metro and even high speed railway. People living
in Wuhan in central region of China could reach Guangzhou in South China by high speed rail
within several hours, in which period people living in rural areas may just get to town from
home. In cities, people could enjoy the door to door transport service easily meanwhile going
out is quite an inconvenient action for many people living in suburban in China. This sort of
obvious contrast can be seen by everybody. Besides the aspect of transportation, there are more
plentiful living facilities in cities than in the countryside. As a whole, the infrastructure in most
cities in China is of high quality. The systems of medical treatment, health care, physical
training, etc are available for citizens to make use of to keep their life quality in a high level.
Once citizens have a problem in daily life, there are often corresponding ways for them to solve it.
While in the most areas of countryside in China, there is still even a lack of medical security now.

Disruptive market, demographic, fiscal, and environmental dynamics are fundamentally reshaping
America s economic landscape. In this new reality, the United States should think of infrastructure
not in the general but in the specific, understanding the ways in which different infrastructure
sectors such as transportation, energy, and water are governed, financed, and delivered. At the same

The United States faces an unprecedented number of economic, demographic, fiscal, and
environmental challenges that compel both the government and the private sector to rethink the
way they do business. While these new forces are incredibly diverse including everything from the
shale gas revolution to renewed consumer preferences for urban living they share one underlying
need: modern, efficient, and reliable infrastructure. Tangible assets made of concrete, steel, and
fiber optic cable are essential building blocks of the American economy. Infrastructure enables
global trade, powers businesses, connects workers to their jobs, creates new opportunities for
struggling communities, and protects America from an unpredictable natural environment. From
private investments in telecommunication systems, broadband networks, freight railroads, energy
projects, and pipelines, to public investments in transportation, water, public buildings, and parks,
America s infrastructure is the backbone of a healthy national economy. Infrastructure also supports
American workers, providing millions of jobs each year to build and maintain the structures and

20th century by some of the most famous designers such as Rovert Mallet Stevens, Pierre

these once unrecognized designers finally gain recognition.
Many of Ms. Putmans most accomplished works include The Morgan s Hotel in New York, the

cheering supporters, most of them African American. Across the country, Republicans have led
efforts to pass laws making it harder, not easier, for people to vote.
Speaking a day after a (meeting to discuss things/meeting together) in Texas remembering (with
honor) the 50th (yearly recognition or celebration) of the Civil Rights Act, Mr. Obama linked the
issue to the movement that helped pave the way for him to become the nation s first black president.
America did not stand up and did not march and did not sacrifice to gain the right to vote for
themselves and for others only to see it denied to their kids and their (children of children), he said.

42. How Did Louis Zamperini Get In Trouble
Louis Zamperini Louis Zamperini s story is about a child of immigrants who was in trouble
more often than not. He would get into fights, he had a good taste for alcohol and was
constantly being chased down by the police. Back in the days of Great Depression, Louis was
practically on his own, fighting for himself. Louis was in and out of trouble until one day a
policeman recommended Louie use his speed for good and not evil. After working hard to
become the fastest he could possibly be, at 18 he was selected for the Olympic Team in 1936.
After he competed in the Olympics, Zamperini decided to lay low and do little to nothing
everyday in Berlin. He went back to America and was drafted into the US Army Air Corpsmen. He

43. Analysis Of Phantasmagoria s Wickedest Tale Of All
Phantasmagoria`s Wickedest Tale of All is a stage performance which consists of different stage
play like; The Conqueror Worm pt 1 5, The Churel, The Churel Dance/Solo and The Masque of
the Red Death by Edger Allan Poe. I think the Churel was most the longest among the few that
were performed. The Churel is about when a pregnant woman dies during the Hindu Festival of
Lights which they also call Diwaliand they believed that the pregnant woman will turn into Churel
and can come back to hunt either their familyor young men by sucking their blood or eating their
flesh.
In this play The Churel performed by the Phantasmagoria`s was a beautiful pregnant woman who
had three brothers that were uncontended and jealousy of her no matter how pleasing she was to
her brothers. They were not satisfied because they were full of hate and jealousy that lead them to
kill her before her husband could come back during the Hindu Festival. Her body was cremated
instead of burying her upside down to prevent her from becoming Churel. Because they failed to
bury her upside down and perform some rituals to prevent her from becoming churel, she came
back as churel to hunt and killed his brothers one after the other and when the husband rushed to
her, she also killed the husband, not because she didn`t love the husband but because of what she
has to turn into, bloodsucker.
Some of the aesthetic choice I found in the performance was the costume or dress. I think the dress

45. Humanitarian Intervention Vs Humanitarian Intervention
Humanitarian intervention has been widely debated over the last couple of decades, causing
arguments to rise of what constitutes humanitarian intervention and if the Responsibility to Protect
doctrine has become to politicized to be reliable. These accounts are backed up on how
interventions are being implemented through out the world in various intrastate and international
conflicts. Humanitarian intervention and R2P have produced debates on the morality, legality, and
operational credibility the organizations now retain. Along with these debates, concerns of NATO
and the Security Council s actions bring to light the concern if humanitarian intervention can be
relied on in effort of peace. These questions facilitate concern and instability throughout the world,
and breeds inability for peace efforts to be conducted. As such, humanitarian intervention is a
crucial effort towards peace; it subsequently undermines the issues surrounding sovereignty and the
idea that sovereignty is the utmost importance to a state s livelihood. For humanitarian intervention
and R2P to succeed, a reform needs to be implemented within the system; sovereignty should not be
held authoritatively and states should be held accountable for their actions; regardless of their allies
influential opinions. Humanitarian efforts are based on the four principles: humanity, impartiality,
neutrality, and independence; The one thing these principles all have in common are that they
come unbiased. Yet,

It was a dark stormy night with the smell of fall in the air. The light shining down was tangent
and I can still remember the sound of the rain dripping down from the cold ceilings as it started
dripping down our necks. It was eerily quiet and the only noises heard were coming from up
above along the sewer drains. The scary part is, I remember it like it was yesterday, there was
grit in my teeth and not from that morning s breakfast. There was little to no visibility as if you
were alone in space. The truth is, we weren t alone, we had each other, but that just meant there

all that came to my mind was one simple question, who framed us? And why? And that was where
it really began.
According to the warden, if we continued walking for about a quarter mile we would eventually
reach a tunnel that veered off to the left. If we followed that tunnel for around 40 feet we would
run into a barred exit. Now you may be confused as to what I said earlier when I said the warden

who committed the murder of a woman and her child. We were men who were known to be

the exploitation of children in pornography, trafficking, prostitution, and other crimes of a sexual

regional, national, and international laws to help combat sexual crimes against minor children.
They developed laws to coordinate agencies and push for laws that help prosecute anyone
conducting illegal activities against children. The cooperation of all countries that accepted the

who exploit child for the before mentioned crimes. The CSEC conducted studies on different

49. Ecological Footprint Of Sea Food Consumption
ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT OF SEA FOOD CONSUMPTION IN LAGOS
Lagos is surrounded by water, Lagos Island is practically on the ocean and the availability of water
has contributed to the growth of Lagos in ways like Tourism, Holidaying, Transportation and food.
The Atlantic coastline of Lagos is estimated to be 180km long this is an addition to the estuaries,
lagoons, creeks and tributaries of major rivers that constitute the resource base for the thriving
fisheries industry that are four in number. The total metric tonne of fish landed by 1980 was not
available, information indicated a high preference for shellfish harvesting (shrimp, crab and lobster)
by private investor. This was due to high demand on the international market for these products.
Without reliable fishery data and statistics of what is currently being caught, it is obviously
difficult to predict future trends. Also a series of catch and effort statistics, if continued over a
period of years provides the best measure of changes in a stock of fish and the impact on fishing on
it.
Late in December 2013, the Federal Government replaced the import ban decision with a new
policy to cut fish imports into the country by 25 per cent per year by introducing import quotas
starting in January 2014.
Industry players contacted confirmed the quota s introduction, but they indicate there are still
uncertainties over how much fish will actually be allowed in under this newly introduced system.

Five Best Remaining Free Agents
The cream of the crop free agents may be gone, but some impact free agents still remain on the

1. Arian Foster: Running Back
Foster will be 30 by the week one of the NFL season, but that doesn t mean he can t be an impact

it would have been had he not been injured.

league. He may be an aging running back in a league that heavily favors younger, more athletic
backs, but you cannot deny the talent he possesses. There isn t ... Show more content on

4. Mike Neal: Defensive End/Linebacker
Neal can play both defensive end and linebacker. He s shown incredible durability over the last
three seasons, playing in all 48 games during that span. He s shown he ability to play in both a 4 3

Any team in need of a defensive end or linebacker would benefit from adding Neal. Not only would

roster.
A few potential spots for Neal are the Patriots, Vikings, Eagles, and Dolphins.

51. A Comparison Of Democratic And Republican Parties
As we all know in the past of the United States history, there were two major parties that are
Democratic and Republican party that dominant the southern and northern of America. Today, as
the two major parties conflict has arisen, Libertarian party has formed and its views mix in the
between of both major parties. We cannot deny a great effort of increasing an American economic
from all three parties such as Democracy, Republican, and Libertarian. However, many political
issues the parties are faced which seem to shift their basic belief over the times like states right for
an example.
In the past, the Democratic and Republican parties did not share the same views of how power
should be split between national government and states. Democratic party supported state rights
while Republican party thought that state rights limited the United States to become a strong nation.
Today, the view of state rights has switched its position between the two parties in which the

52. Canada and Quebec s Conflict Essay example
Canada and Quebec s Conflict
Canada and Quebec have always been in conflict from the confederation of 1867 to the Supreme
court judgement on the secession of Quebec in 1998. Quebec faces several challenges in terms of
constitutional relations with the rest of Canada. Quebec is seeking a special status to preserve and
protect its culture and language, while the rest of English speaking Canada accepts the view of
provincial equality. There have been attempts to recognize Quebec s concerns through constitutional
amendments, but these attempts have not lived up to Quebec s expectations and for the most parts
have failed. Quebec has threatened Canada throughout history with separation from Canada. These
threats have not been ignored, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The conflict Canada and Quebec s search for sovereignty started in the early days of American
settlement. In the 1800s the united colonies of Canada, Canada east (French speaking) and
Canada west ( English speaking) was in constitutional deadlock. The only way out of this
deadlock was to separate or to bring more colonies into confederation. There was much
immigration into both Canada east and Canada west, these new immigrants were primarily
English which added to the problem of linguistics groups. As Canada east grew in population it
remained tied to Canada east by a constitution that shared power equally between the two. The
arrangement was becoming ever more difficult because of the difference in sizes and political
power between the two Canada. English speakers called for representation by population, in other
words, each group of people deserved political power that was equivalent to its proportion to the
population. While the French language survived, it had gone from majority to minority of the
population due to immigration. The confederation agreement of 1867, which included Nova Scotia
and New Brunswick gave both the French and English what they wanted without resorting to
separation. The French people of Canada east had more control over their culture , were as close
to independence as possible at the time. They also gained freedom from domination of the majority
(English speakers of Canada west). The English people gained

There is no greater disability in society than the inability to see a person as more. Robert M. Hensel

Birth defects are abnormalities mostly found in infants. There are many issues that come along with
having a birth defect but some can be prevented. Analyzing all that is known in accordance to birth
defects can help us look for more solutions in minimizing birth defect rates. For this reason

Because of all the research that has been done on birth defects, there is now a new technology
that helps the situation in regards to birth defects. One of these technologies is a robot used to
aid in treatment. Researchers at the University of Sheffield, Boston s Children Hospital and
Harvard Medical School developed a robot that is used to aid the treatment of oesophageal
atresia (Biotech Week 1). Oesophageal atresia is a rare genetic birth defect where the upper and
lower parts of the oesophagus don t connect. The research spent on this project shows how
important education of birth defects is important even to doctors and health scientists in order to
improve the technology for birth defects. The more they learn about birth defects and the science
behind it, the more developments there will be in this field. The new robot makes it easier and
less stressful for the patient and those surrounding the patient. The child is able to move around
and live normally as they undergo their treatment (Biotech Week 1). Since the robot is inside the
child, they are able to interact and do what they want as the robot repairs the tissue inside. Another
benefit is that with this robot they are able to improve in the medical field. We further want to look

Washington s Farewell Adress After his presidency, George Washington has explains many
possible dangers and concerns he has for the for the up and coming nation that he spent 8 years so
heavily devoted toward. There were many issues during Washington s presidency so he writes a
farewell address discussing the issues and giving Americans some wise words of advice. Some of
the issues that Washingtonbrings up include staying out of other nation s issues and worry about
ourselves, to not divide our nation by forming different political parties with different ideas, and
pay off the newly acquired national debt. He explains all of these issues and more in his farewell
address. He also says that if the constitution needs to be changed it should be done so legally and
not by rebellion which Americans tend to do. One of the main dangers that President Washington
sees are the political parties that are, at this point, just starting to be formed by people like

Single celled organisms are small meaning that their surface area is big compared to their
volume. These organisms have a large surface area to volume ratio which means that they can
obtain different substances by diffusion through their relatively large plasma membrane. The
substances have to diffuse only short distances so they can diffuse at a faster rate and meet the
organism s needs. Multi cellular organisms have a much smaller surface area to volume ratio.
Many of their cells are not in direct contact with their surroundings so they cannot solely rely on
diffusion to supply all of their organs with oxygen and nutrients, as the distance from their surface

What is blood pressure?
Blood pressure is a measure of the pressure exerted by the blood against artery walls. Blood varies
with heartbeat strength, age, blood volume, health and fitness. Blood pressure is measured as two
numbers, e.g. 120/80 these numbers represent systolic and diastolic the big number is systolic
which the blood pressure is during a heartbeat and the smaller number is diastolic which the blood
pressure in between heartbeats is. The numbers show pressure reading in mm of mercury.
How does blood pressure affect health?
High blood pressure can make blood vessels more likely to burst, and can cause strokes and
kidney damage. Low blood pressure can cause dizziness, fainting and poor circulation.
