Michael Jordan s Five-Star Football Team
Michael Jordan attended Laney High School in Wilmington, North Carolina. High School is where
Michael Jordan s journey to stardom began, but the beginning of Michael Jordan s High School career
got off to a rocky start. As a High School sophomore he was cut from the varsity basketball team, and
instead his 6 7 friend Leroy Smith made the team. Varsity head coach, Fred Lynch decided that the
varsity team needed Leroy Smith s size, and thought Michael at 5 10 was too short and needed to
develop his skills in order to be a reliable contributor to the varsity team. Michael had no choice but to
play on the junior varsity team, which greatly frustrated him, because he felt like he was good enough
to make the varsity team. It was embarrassing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He scored 35 points in his first varsity game and averaged a team leading 20 points per game. His
impressive and stellar play for the varsity team during his junior year led to him being invited to the
Howard Garfinkel s Five Star Basketball Camp. Where He dazzled college scouts while playing head
to head against the other top high school players in the country. The Five Star Basketball Camp was
also where North Carolina head coach Dean Smith first noticed the talented and skilled Michael
Jordan. He was so impressed with Michael s skills, that he decided to target him as a priority recruit
and signed him to be a future North Carolina Tarheel before Jordan s senior season began.
Michael Jordan had a spectacular senior season playing for the Laney High School varsity basketball
team. He led Laney to the No. 1 state ranking, while averaging a triple double ( 29.2 points, 11.6
rebounds, and 10.1 assists ). He wasn t able to lead his team to a state title, with his team losing to
their rival New Hanover in the conference championship game, 56 52. But because he had a great

Sex Trafficking, Prostitution, And Prostitution
Although many believe that slavery was abolished many years ago, it is actually a part of an organized
crime that is growing faster than any other. It a deceitful process that tricks many people, mostly
women, into believing that they will be safe and secure. It has quite the opposite effects. The form of
slavery that is being referred to here is sex trafficking. It is all around the world. Many do not realize
that it is happening in their own community. It is happening right here in Saginaw, Michigan. It is
categorized with prostitution, but prostitution alone is more of a choice and sex trafficking is forced
prostitution. Although the women and men involved are called prostitutes, they are not doing it to
make money for themselves. They are forced to do it through their pimps which are the individuals in
charge of the prostitution business. Forced sex slavery is in correlation with physical, mental, and
emotional abuse. What if prostitution was legal? A woman would be able to be a prostitute if she
wanted. She could do whatever she wants with her body without the consequence of being arrested.
Although, it would be harder to identify if the woman was doing it because she wanted to or doing it
because she was forced by a sex trafficker. Would prostitution legalization affect the amount of sex
trafficking that is already occurring? If people are educated on sex trafficking and what the signs of it
are, we may be able to help those in need. It can also be

Auteur Theory, By Francois Truffaut
In the year 1954, Francois Truffaut wrote that French cinema was suffering from a tradition of quality,
referring to the fact that films were not implementing one s artistic integrity, but instead being made
specifically for festivals (Staples). Traffaut wanted something to be done to fix this, and soon he
created the auteur theory. Auteur Theory is the theory that the auteur, French for author, is the person
that brings a film to life and uses the film to express their thoughts and feelings about the subject
matter. The theory is that the auteur of a film would be a film s director. The director can use sound,
lighting, camerawork, mise en scene and editing to create their vision. They are the author of their
work. The film Traffaut created ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is easy to say that both Orson Welles and Francois Truffaut would be considered iconic auteurs,
revolutionizing the film industry with specific camera angles, lighting, and more to create specific
moods and perspectives. While Truffaut considered the auteur to be the director of the film, one could
argue that because they get help from others working on the film, the auteur is anyone that was behind
the production of a film. There is a small group of directors I would consider sole auteurs of their
movies, such as Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, and Quentin Tarantino. These directors do get
assistance from many, but their specific film style does not compare to any other, and audiences
expect it. Orson Welles and Francois Truffaut would fall into this category, essentially because they
were two of the first to do

The War With Great Britain For Their Independence
The year is 1775 and the American Colonies are at war with Great Britain for their Independence. The
Continental Congress would soon sign an article into law, which would authorize the construction of
the Navy of the United Colonies of North America. Article 16 of this bill stated that A convenient
place shall be set apart for sick or hurt men, to be removed with their hammocks and bedding when
the surgeon shall advise the same to be necessary: and some of the crew shall be appointed to attend to
and serve them and to keep the place clean. The cooper shall make buckets with covers and cradles if
necessary for their use. Little did they know that this would be the inception of the Hospital
Corpsman. A military organization that would soon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The description stated: The surgeon shall be allowed a faithful attendant to issue, under his direction,

sick. The surgeon s mates shall be particularly careful in directing the loblolly boy to keep the cockpit
clean, and every article therein belonging to the Medical Department. The surgeon shall prescribe for
casual cases on the gun deck every morning at 9 o clock, due notice having been previously given by
his loblolly boy by ringing of a bell, (History of Hospital). The name and responsibilities of the rate
would change several times through the 18th century, with titles like apothecary, nurse, and bay man
the person responsible for taking care of the sick and injured in the sick bay. With the outbreak of the
civil war in 1861, naval vessels were ordered to have at least 2 nurses per every 200 men and we also
built the first ship just to take care of the sick and injured, the USS Red Rover. The medical crew of
the USS Red Rover consisted of 30 surgeons, 30 nurses, and 4 nuns. This ship has also been
immortalized at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes as the sick hall serving all new navy recruits

William McKinley. From this date forward any enlisted

Kings Canyon National Park Research Paper
This is the final installment of a series of three reports about the Monarch Divide, a chain of
mountains in Kings Canyon National Park.
Today we shall continue over a mountain pass, and delve into northern reaches of the Monarch
Divide. We shall explore a wild canyon, and follow a spotty trail for miles, using a creek as a handrail
to remain on track. The ultimate goal is an off trail overlook, where we shall enjoy a splendid view of
a deeper and more rugged canyon! Note that the wild conclusion of this trip is for expert hikers only.
An altimeter is good to have, to safely explore this seldom trod corner of the park.
To start with, we reshoulder our packs at Kennedy Pass. (For details on how to reach this pass, please
refer to the previous issue of the California Explorer.) The trail down the north side is poorly
maintained. Erosion gullies have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The raucous call of Nucifraga columbiana is usually the loudest sound in Kennedy Canyon. Such
birds can be counted as friends, too, if you do not mind their rowdy behavior.
A great campsite can be found at the 9450 ft. level. The site is sheltered by lodgepole pines, close to a
cascade, and is situated just upstream of another scenic meadow. If a storm is brewing, this camp is
ideal.
As you move north, the canyon floor becomes more wooded, and the path becomes intermittent. There
are ducks, a few, but the established trail pretty much vanishes by the time you reach the outlet
coming down from West Kennedy Lake (a dry run of cobbles in late season). But what do you care?
For a travelling companion you have Kennedy Creek, which chuckles along merrily even in autumn of
drought years. Just follow the creek as you like, veering away from the water to avoid willow thickets,
and picking up remnants of trail every now and again. Trees often limit the long range views, but it is
impossible to get truly lost around

Abraham Lincoln s Second Inaugural Address In The Film
Towards the end of the film after the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, one of the last scenes feature
an excerpt of his second inaugural address as he spoke in front of the people who looked up to him.
Some historians believed that Lincoln s second inaugural address is his greatest speech delivered to
the people of the United States. Lincoln mentioned the word God multiple times in his address since
Christianity, in general, is one of the most important aspects that greatly influenced and shaped the
country throughout America s long history.
One of the examples from Abraham Lincoln s second inaugural address that incorporated religion and
mentioned in the film is when he stated God s will in relation to the American Civil War. Lincoln

Baudelaire s Flowers Of Evil
Flowers of Evil provides examples of not only hopes and dreams, but the beauty from the evil.
Baudelaire s attempts to show the reader that beauty can grow on its own. He would use women as his
main source of symbolism serving as the middle between the ideal and the spleen. The spleen
represents everything that is wrong with the world like death, murder and disease. While the ideal
represents a perfection where love is united with ecstasy. They embodied what he called the elevation
towards God and the steady descent toward Satan. Baudelaire connects women to nature as a result
denying them a positive role in his imaginative vision, this is where adequate misogyny can be seen.
The first section of the poem is dedicated solely to the ideal as

Visit Of The Mcdonald s On Okeechobee Boulevard
For this assignment I chose to visit the McDonald s on Okeechobee Boulevard in West Palm Beach
and the Chick Fil A on Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard in West Palm Beach. I visited McDonald s first
just after what could be considered the dinner rush. When walking into the store the first thing I
noticed was the floor was fairly dirty, especially near the trash receptacles. There were clearly visible
items of food that had fallen off of people s trays as they attempted to clear their trays off. I got into
the line to order and noticed that there were three people ahead of me. There was only one McDonald
s employee working the registers while I saw another standing by on their cell phone. I believe the
second employee not working the registers was a manager. She was unaware of the line that had
grown and when she looked up she signed into a register to help. I had gone into the store with the
intention of only ordering a sweet tea, but if I were to have been offered an item I would buy it. I gave
my order to the manager of only a sweet tea and she gave me my total. It was interesting to see that
the manager did not try to upsell my order as I was only getting a $1 drink. As the drinks were a self
service, I went to go get the sweet tea and found they were out of sweet tea. I informed the manager
and she said they would get another one out. Rather than get a different drink I decided to wait to see
how long it would take the staff to replace the sweet tea. Once the manager told

Demographic and Environmental Timeline
Demographic transition is the process by which a nation/country moves from high birth rate and high
death rates to low birth and low death rates as the growth population in the interim (Weeks, 2005).
Some of the nations that have gone through this transitions are; Canada, Germany, United States and
England. The demographic transition to an industrialized society is harmful to the environment.
Industrialized countries also have the largest ecological and carbon footprint comparative to
developing/non industrialized nations. Nevertheless, demographic transitions have some notable
advantages. Countries that have gone through demographic transitions have low birth and death rates.

Hitler can reduce the number of unemployment from 6 million in 1933 to 2.6 million in December

Changing Population Size: With the signing of Versailles treaty in 1919, the population size is on the
increase as the country is stable due to the peaceful agreement. Besides, the nation is becoming
industrialized as it started some activities such as mining hence people are confident of residing in
Germany.
Birth and Death Rates: During this period, there are high birth rates compared to death rates following
the end of the world wars. Peace is slowly coming in the country thus encouraging women to bear
children once more.
Environmental Impact: Environmental impact is on the increase due to Industrialization. The nation is
advancing slowly in technology.

Brothers Drake Meadery
Overview
For our Gemba paper, we choose to take an inside look at how Brothers Drake Meadery, an urban
producer of wines made from honey, produces meads and creates its local business. In order to put
forward useful suggestions from a better understanding about the production process, we visited
Brothers Drake Meadery located on 26 E 5th Ave. Brothers Drake Meadery s business contains
meadery, bar, event space for rent, and venue for live music event.
As a popular wine among tourists and wine lovers in Columbus, mead not only uses local ingredients
and supplies for brewing, but also is only distributed locally. Mead is that uses. Using honey as its
primary source, mead as an ancient beverage is considered to be the ancestor of all fermented ... Show

Mr. Meadery has great passion for mead; as a matter of fact, he sees the recipe generation part as the
most important part of his business. It is indeed this unique, innovative process that supports his
business; however, it is undeniable that there are some problems generating from this process.
On the one hand, the random new recipe testing schedule wastes lots of time, and sometimes makes it
fail to meet customer demand on time. The production process is relatively standard, which asks for a
long time for brewing and aging. However, once staffs start to produce new mead, they can only make
one flavor at a time in the whole metal container.
On the other hand, all labor forces are assigned to keep producing the mead due to Mr. Meadery s
focus on increasing the utilization of existing equipment. However, the bottling is quite a labor
intensive process that will cost lots of money to employ more labors.
Besides, stores that sell their bottled mead do not have good sales plan, which makes Brothers Drake
Meadery fail to track the sales of each flavor and make better plans for next production.

Analysis Of Terry Moore s Speech
Terry Moore s speech, How to tie your shoes , was printed in May of 2011, for the use and free
viewing of the public. He discusses the reality that many people do not know that they are actually
tying their shoes incorrectly, and he shares with the audience what he has found to be the proper way
to tie one s shoes. Throughout his speech, Moore uses stories, demonstrations, and lighthearted humor
to engage the audience and deliver his message. Though simple, Moore s speech has just the right
amount of quirkiness, fun, and technicality to be memorable for most viewers. He expertly tailors his
speech to be delivered to a unique audience at the Technology Entertainment and Design (TED).
Conference in February of 2005. The audience consists of mostly wealthy scholars and people
interested in gaining knowledge and insight. Terry Moore thinks that by showing the audience the
correct way to tie their shoes, he would provide them with the quality enlightenment that they are
seeking. His speech about the proper technique of shoe tying to ensure that laces stay tied for longer
periods of time uses ethos, and his strongest writing strategy is his lighthearted and entertaining
diction. Ethos is predominately used in the speech to connect to the audience and establish the
credibility of the speaker, Terry Moore. Moore develops ethos by telling the audience a story about
when he first learned the proper way to tie his shoes. By acknowledging that for many years he was
unaware that he

Examples Of Diversity In The Novel By Esme
Throughout the book, there are several examples of Esme demonstrating diversity. Two specific
examples that stood out was when, Esme taught her class how to thread needles. (pg. 68) Including the
boys in her class, who initially were not excited about it. Mainly because it was an activity that was
more related to girls doing it. This is an example of diversity because she is showing them that the
stigma revolving around girls or boys only activities, do not have to be that way. And it is not a bad
thing if girls do boy activities and if boys do girl activities. The second example of diversity in the
novel is when, Esme was given a sari by one of her students. (pg. 148) Esme wore the sari showing
her students that there is nothing wrong with

In the novel, One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, prisoners in the Soviet prison camp are treated

currently living in. Men go against each other or bond together in order to stay alive, and the ,methods

Also, in order to define a certain phenomenon based on theory, I will hypothesize how extent the
thought and theory are connected. For instance, globalization affects the way of perception of the
world, which Tsagarousianou describes that The global system of sovereign states has been familiar
both structurally and symbolically in the daily acts of imagination through which space and human
identity are construed. (Tsagarousianou, 2007, p175). I will analyze how the interviewer perceives
media as part of their daily life in their mind.
Method
I conducted an interview with 5 of the interviewer who is categorized as a contemporary immigrant.
The interview style is conducted through one to one conversation and it was conducted in question
conversation style with general questionnaires. In addition to the questionnaires, I expanded them in

Frederick The Great Accomplishments
Frederick the Great is best remembered nowadays as the Prussian king who led his country to the
forefront of Europe through several wars and his domestic policies. Being an enthusiastic patron of the
arts, he is also remembered as being a talented musician and Enlightened despot who sought to
become the ideal platonic king . But while Frederick the Great pursued Enlightenment ideas and
patronage of the arts, he deserves the title, The Great , because of his military and state achievements.
While Frederick is remembered as a great military mind, ironically, as a child, Frederick seemed to
shun all of the militaristic views and habits of his father. Against his father s wishes, he was interested
in learning poetry, French, and music. His interests ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Frederick rallying the broken ranks at Hochkirch, being hit by a cannonball at Torgau, or Frederick s
rallying speech at Leuthen that were remembered by his men and subjects, not the fact that Frederick
was more interested in French than German, or that he played the flute. It was Frederick s reforms of
agriculture, economics, and preservation and expansion of Prussia against all odds and enemies that
people remembered, not the fact that Frederick wrote a commentary on Machiavelli or had a different

CONTEMPORARY ISSUES IN PUBLIC MANAGEMENT
Select one example or issue from the public sectors of a major public policy. Explore in essay how
that current policy problem in government is relevant to and then undercuts the quality of public
service and the operation of key regime values and political character traits
In his book Theories of the Policy Process (2007) Paul Sabatier described the public policymaking
process as follows: problems are conceptualized and brought to government for solution;
governmental institutions formulate alternatives and select policy solutions; and those solutions get
implemented, evaluated, and revised (p. 3). For the purpose of this essay the Social Security and its
financial soundness problem will be considered. The alternative solutions to this problem will be
reviewed. The range of services provided by the Social Security Administration will be reviewed with
an emphasis on quality component of the public service delivery.
The financial soundness of the Social Security system is an important issue which gets frequent
attention from politicians, public servants, citizenry, and media. If the established system would fail

In the early 2020 s an oral medication was developed to treat HIV/AIDS, eventually this medication
came to be the new cure for the infection. In the following years, HIV was no longer an issue or a
cause for concern, as health professionals declared an HIV/AIDS free world. Nine years later, in 2031

behaviors thus preventing the risk of HIV infection. The concept of risk environment plays a role in
the increase in risk of infection as it is regarded as the space, whether social or physical, in which a
variety of factors exogenous to the individual interact to increase vulnerability to HIV (Roy et. Al,
2011). Many studies of vulnerable individuals such as injection drug users, sex workers, and the
homeless have shown that these factors have a significant influence on their health since they shape
daily risk taking (Roy et. Al, 2011). Thus, due to said situations reports of individuals having traded
sex for money, drugs, or other commodities for survival, increases HIV incidence of this high risk
behavior (Roy et Al, 2011). Therefore this study will work towards mitigating the situations that put
individuals as risk of HIV infection, as a form of prevention.

Descriptive Essay About New York
New York. Phenomenal buildings and structures pierce the sunny sky. The mobbed streets are loaded
with taxi cabs and cars go to and from, in various bearings leaving the fragrance of exhaust surfing
through the air. The congested sidewalks are loaded with individuals frantic to a shop in which the
celebrities dwell. The ongoing flow of pedestrians talking on their cell phones and drinking Starbucks
keeps on coming and rushing from store to store. All the sounds and smell of different things mix to
make one strong scent and noise. But once again, I was disturbed with the voices of the never ending
attractions that call out and envelope me with awe. I once again feel like a young child on shopping
spree in a candy store. I was yearning to discover the New York Experience and ignored my feet that
are swelling from the continuous walking. As I go deeper in the inner city, the aroma of many
restaurants passes through my nostrils and I find myself craving for food. As I walk even further, I
found myself lost in the Big Apple. I turned off of a street and through a narrow gully to a community
of abandoned tenements behind the barbed wire fence. The barbed wire fence divides the subway exit
door which says Do Not Enter in cheap, peeled paint. I look for some people but all I can see are
gangs smoking in the distance. The light that blinded me a minute ago was blotched by the high,
graffiti brick buildings. Even the tiniest fragment of light had not seeped in to enlighten the

Organizational Structure of Chick fil A One key responsibility of working as a manager is to recognize
the best way to organize and run an organization. A manager who can work with and put into motion
the structure and plans of a company is very important to the life of the organization. Chief Executive

There are also staff departments, which are the researchers, marketing, accounting, and sales
specializations (Bateman, 2011). Because each Chick fil A has a private owner, the store operator
would be the line department and the corporate office will be the staff department. As defined by
Bateman, a Functional Organization departmentalizes around specialized jobs, such as accounting,
marketing, and production. Each Chick fil A restaurant operates under their own management;
however the marketing, production, accounting, and human resources departments operate from the
corporate office (Chick fil A, 2011). Since, the structure of an organization dictates how the company
will grow, creating a strong foundation will benefit a company in numerous ways. Within any business
there are the organizational functions that can create the type of structure an organization will have. A
business s functions are the things it does. Production, sales, and marketing are a few examples Chick
fil A has within the company. The organizational structure defines the relationship and interactions
between the different parts of the company, and identifies how the chain of command runs through the
different levels. When money is earned at a fast pace, it opens doors for the company to expand. As
the company grows, they begin to hire more employees and they offer new products.

Violence In Youth Sports
On the day of August 8, 2000, in the town of Middlesex, Missouri, a father was charged with beating
up another dad to death in an argument over their sons youth hockey game. The next month his son
pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge for giving a rival player a paralyzing injury. A famous saying
is that this apple did not fall too far from its tree. For example, an adult involved in youth sports
(either as a parent or coach), already know that children today are a lot more involved in sports than
they were when they were a kid. As a child athlete, their mind is set on one and one thing only, going

Nowadays, you can find a zoo in any state. They are continuing to pop up everywhere, which raises
the debate surrounding whether zoos are actually beneficial or if they serve a purpose at all. However
the argument that zoos provide a way to observe, learn, and for entertainment purposes may not
always be in the best interest of the animals. As there are far more negative view points against the
value of zoos, such as the use of whips electric prods, and other blunt instruments. By doing so forces
innocent animals to do as humans say and what they want only for the pleasure of pleasing a crowd.
The provided statistics and facts show just how wrong and completely cruel keeping animals in
captivity is not right in anyway. Unfortunately, zoos cannot provide adequate space necessary for
animals to roam freely and possesses an overabundance of breeding, with minimal room for offspring.
Although, zoos may be used for several reasons such as: Wildlife observation, for educational
purpose, conservation of near endangered species, and for entertainment. Further, even if an animal is
facing extinction zoos have no right to capture, confined, and breed an animal. These awful places say
they are educating the community. When in reality they are just trapping animals and forcing them to

The Declaration Of Independence And The United States...
The Declaration of Independence was a new beginning for the thirteen colonies, formerly a part of the
British empire. This document brought about a new understanding of how the country would be run.
The Articles of Confederation were adopted November 15, 1777 and remained the sole form of
government until it was replaced by the current United States Constitution in 1788 for its lack of
efficiency in running the country. Federalists and Anti Federalists argued endlessly over the pros and
cons of the two documents. The questions that arise are is the Constitution a radical change from the
Articles or was it not so distinct? As well as, do both documents embody the Declaration or does one
document do more so? The United States Constitution, which holds truer to the principles in the
Declaration of Independence, is a radical change from the Articles of Confederation. The Constitution
was a distinct change from the Articles, but similarities between the two do exist. Both documents

Avatar Film Analysis
Most of the science fiction works contain a crucial message that the writer wishes to convey to the
viewers. There are two categories of film message, one is positive and the other is negative. A positive
message is one that is expected to have favourable outcome to the audience, and continuously aiming
to promote better societal changes. In contrast, a negative message is one that could deliver threats or
unpleasant information to the audience, which could have significant impact on the normal order of
the society. This essay will argue that if the message contains positive elements, then it is not a bad
sign to embed science fiction works with a message. First, this essay will suggest that the well

In addition, the film focus mainly on a human protagonist name Jake, and narrate his transformation
from a human to an alien, which is done through a human developed technology that injects human
DNA into the alien bodies. After Jake s transformation, the scene opens another implicit message:
aliens are to be forcibly removed from their planet to create space for human activity (Veracini, 2011,
p. 357). For the climax part of the film, the director establishes a passage that describes Jack becoming
a native of Pandora, and the director again aims to introduce the audience with a message saying that
human power against corporate force as to conserve our natural environment. This message seemingly
gives audience a wonderful twist of the plot and is quite thought provoking for the audience. Hence,
when a film includes well integrated messages, it adds another layer of quality to the entire plot
whereby all the elements of the plot becomes more meaningful, and the general audience could be
attuned with the rhythm of the film because there is a logical flow from one scene to the next.
Moreover, the positive messages embedded in science fiction works can have powerful influence on
the audience and the society, both locally and globally. In particular, most of the messages embedded
are prompted by the past events of world history or by the contemporary social phenomena, and

Ralph Waldo Emerson s Definition Of Success
S for Success
To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded (____) .
This quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson captures his paradigm of success. People strive to achieve
success and create goals to obtain it; however, a single minded interpretation of success leads to
missing out on opportunities. The presence of challenges provides the opportunity for success and
success comes with the determination to overcome the challenges.
Early in the fifteenth century, the word success first appeared. Developing from Latin word successus
, it was first defined as the fortune (good or bad) befalling anyone in a particular situation . In the mid
1600 s, the definition of success a prosperous achievement of something attempted was altered and
fits the current use of the word. Appearing in the Oxford English Dictionary in 1978, the latest entry
of the definition of success is defined as an instance of an achievement ( Success ). The broadness of

Essay about Renaissance Man and Renaissance Women
Between the 1300s and 1500s, Europe experienced a period of cultural rebirth known as the

new importance to individual expression, self consciousness and worldly experience.
The Renaissance man and woman characterized the Renaissance ideals. A renaissance man was a well
educated gentleman who had cultural grace, courage and who understood the arts and sciences. On the
other hand, a Renaissance woman was supposed to marry well, be loyal to her husband and give birth
to boys.

much older than her after the death of her husband, Isabella became chief of state in Mantua. She also
founded a school for young women and set artistic fashions and standards.
Catherine de Medici was another Renaissance woman born in 1519. Nuns raised her when her parents
died and had an arrangement marriage by her uncle the Pope. Three of her sons became kings under
her influence. Catherine had a great interest in architecture when she built the new wing of the Louvre

any considerations which ought to negative, or to reduce or limit the scope of the duty or the class of
person to whom it is owed or the damages to which a breach of it may give rise.
3. Three stage test: foreseeability, proximity, fair, just and reasonable Caparo v Dickman (1990) 1990
2010. In this stage, under the Caparo test the claimant must make sure and establish that the harm was
reasonably predictable, that there was a relationship of proximity and if it is fair just and reasonable to
enforce a duty of care.
Negligence always involves establishing whether a duty of care exists and who has that duty. A good
example is shown in the case of Donoghue v Stevenson 1932. This case introduced the law of
negligence and the neighbour test. In this case a friend took Mrs Donoghue went to cafe with a friend
and bought her an ice cream and ginger beer. The ginger beer came in a bottle which wasn t clear
enough to see the contents inside. After drinking half of her ginger beer she then poured the rest on top
of the ice cream when a discomposed snail came out from the bottle. As a result Mrs Donoghue fell
sick and suffered personal injury. She then went on to claim against the company that produces ginger
beer. It was held that her claim was successful and therefore the neighbour test was established. Lord

Mozambique Is A Poor Country Essay
Introduction
Mozambique is a poor country located in South eastern Africa, having a population of 25, 303, 113 it
suffers the risk of food insecurity. Food security is when all people at all times have physical and
economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food, that meets dietary requirements for a healthy
lifestyle. Mozambique has a high level of food insecurity, like many other countries in Africa, putting
individuals, families and communities at risk. Some major factors in Mozambique that affect its food
security are poor agriculture, the occurrence of natural disasters, and the presence of diseases
particularly HIV and AIDS. Along with many other minor contributors such as food prices, urban
migration, and pollution of surface and coastal waters.
Background
Mozambique is one of the world s poorest countries, sitting on the east coast of Africa bordering the
Mozambique Channel, it has neighbouring countries, South Africa, Malawi and Tanzania. Its current
population is 25, 303, 113 with the capital city Maputo having a population of 1, 191, 613. Out of this

Religion In The Great Gatsby
A composer s text reveals the values and perspectives, reflecting the altering contexts of society.
F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby divulges the unscrupulous 1920s, comprising of the
hedonistic and materialistic society of America. Correspondingly, Elizabeth Barrett Browning s
various sonnets establishes a restrained, solitary response, revealing the composer s context. Both
mediums explore the notion of religion, either prominently or vaguely utilising a variety of literacy
and poetic techniques.
The lack of religion is evident in The Great Gatsby, befitting to the Fitzgerald s 1920s American
context. The principle characters disregard towards alcohol and the prohibition in general, suggests
their apathy towards religion however, subtle elements are detected through the character, George
Wilson. The billboard revealing the eyes of Doctor T. J. Eckleburg in the Valley of Ashes are
represented as the eyes of God. However, as opposed to a religious figure, ... Show more content on

Initially, Barrett Browning s misunderstanding of love implies her innocence, apparent in the
utilisation of direct speech in Sonnet I, Not Death, but Love, , emphasising her surprise. However, as
the sonnets progress her views are altered and Sonnet XIV accentuates Barrett Browning s yearning to
be loved and urges Browning to reemphasise his love, But love me for love s sake, that evermore thou
mayst love on, through love s eternity, . Imperative voice and diction indicates Barrett Browning s
preoccupation for an everlasting love that is not influenced by superficial circumstances. This notion
is reiterated in Sonnet XXI, Say thou dost love me, love me, love me, . Imperative tone is utilised,
urging Browning to repeatedly express his love for her. The idealised love that EBB envisions can
surpass even Death, reflected in her Victorian

Fashion Keg Parties
Physics is used in everyday activities even when the typical college kid is taking a break from class by
attending a bonfire or a house party to blow off steam. Yes, I m talking about those good ol fashion
keg parties that everyone seems to believe are the general college night out. You see, physics is at
work from the first beer can opened to the last keg stand before the blackout, but it is also acting when
the keg is tapped.
Kegs come in many shapes and sizes and there are no real measurements as far as weight and amount
of alcohol. That means that the physics of all kegs can be different. From lifting one to rolling it to
having the ability to balance on your arms above it, some kegs are just easier to commit adolescent
indecencies then others. Still all kegs are basically the same in the way of how they work.
There is one opening on the top of the keg and a hose that runs to the bottom of the keg called the
spear. There is also a self closing valve that has enough tension to hold itself against the unpressured
fluid in the barrel of alcohol. This in some cases will have another hose coming off of it with a spigot
or could just have a normal spout from which the contents will run until the pressure is relieved or the
valve is physically closed. When the tap is inserted into the keg and pumped in pushes air or other
gases of your choice into the keg putting the contents under pressure. Depending on the gas used and
the amount of fluid in the keg you may need to drink

Seven Types Of Semantics
Language was considered as the most important and well known tool for communication. Linguistics
plays a vital role for the development of a language. Linguistics was defined as scientific study of
language which consists of four branches one among that was Semantics. Semantics was defined as
study of meaning and communication. This journal is mainly dealing with the Leech s seven types of
meaning in Semantics.
INTRODUCTION:
A language can be compared with a sheet of paper, thoughts is one side of the sheet and sound, the
reverse side. Just as it is impossible to take a pair of scissors and the cut one side of the without the
other, so it is impossible in a language to isolate sound from thoughts and thoughts from sound.

In other words it was the principles by which a sentences can be analyzed into its constitute parts.
Here also as sentences are analyzed into its unit i.e. word and morphemes and at the level of
phonology into constitute phonemes (sound units), similarly semantics structure of sentence can also
be explained. The two principles of constituent structure represent the way language was organized.
Contractiveness was the paradigmatic or selection or choice aspects of linguistics structure.
Constitnent structure was the syntagmatic or combinatory or chain aspects of linguistics structure.
Explaining these two aspects in all the levels of language organization called phonological (sound
structure), syntactic (sentence structure) semantic (meaning) was the work of the linguists. This done
by establishing, a phonological representation , a syntactic representation and a semantic
representation and the stage by which one level of representation can be derived from another. At the
level of semantics representation the conceptual meaning of a sentence will be explained in the form
of semantic representation using the abstract symbols and contrastive features. This will help one to
know to distinguish a meaning of a particular sentence from all other possible sentence in the
language. This representation will also match the meaning of that sentence with its corresponding
correct syntactic and phonological

High School is where Michael Jordan s journey to stardom began, but the beginning of Michael Jordan s High School career got off to a rocky start. As a High School sophomore he was cut from the varsity basketball team, and instead his 6 7 friend Leroy Smith made the team. Varsity head coach, Fred Lynch decided that the varsity team needed Leroy Smith s size, and thought Michael at 5 10 was too short and needed to develop his skills in order to be a reliable contributor to the varsity team. Sex Trafficking, Prostitution, And Prostitution Although many believe that slavery was abolished many years ago, it is actually a part of an organized crime that is growing faster than any other. It a deceitful process that tricks many people, mostly women, into believing that they will be safe and secure. It has quite the opposite effects. The form of slavery that is being referred to here is sex trafficking. It is all around the world. Many do not realize that it is happening in their own community. It is happening right here in Saginaw, Michigan. It is categorized with prostitution, but prostitution alone is more of a choice and sex trafficking is forced prostitution. Although the women and men involved are called prostitutes, they are not doing it to make money for themselves. They are forced to do it through their pimps which are the individuals in charge of the prostitution business. Forced sex slavery is in correlation with physical, mental, and emotional abuse. What if prostitution was legal? A woman would be able to be a prostitute if she wanted. She could do whatever she wants with her body without the consequence of being arrested. Although, it would be harder to identify if the woman was doing it because she wanted to or doing it because she was forced by a sex trafficker. Would prostitution legalization affect the amount of sex trafficking that is already occurring? If people are educated on sex trafficking and what the signs of it are, we may be able to help those in need. It can also be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Auteur Theory, By Francois Truffaut In the year 1954, Francois Truffaut wrote that French cinema was suffering from a tradition of quality, referring to the fact that films were not implementing one s artistic integrity, but instead being made specifically for festivals (Staples). Traffaut wanted something to be done to fix this, and soon he created the auteur theory. Auteur Theory is the theory that the auteur, French for author, is the person that brings a film to life and uses the film to express their thoughts and feelings about the subject matter. The theory is that the auteur of a film would be a film s director. The director can use sound, lighting, camerawork, mise en scene and editing to create their vision. It is easy to say that both Orson Welles and Francois Truffaut would be considered iconic auteurs, revolutionizing the film industry with specific camera angles, lighting, and more to create specific moods and perspectives. While Truffaut considered the auteur to be the director of the film, one could argue that because they get help from others working on the film, the auteur is anyone that was behind the production of a film. There is a small group of directors I would consider sole auteurs of their movies, such as Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, and Quentin Tarantino. Baudelaire s attempts to show the reader that beauty can grow on its own. He would use women as his main source of symbolism serving as the middle between the ideal and the spleen. The spleen represents everything that is wrong with the world like death, murder and disease. While the ideal represents a perfection where love is united with ecstasy. They embodied what he called the elevation towards God and the steady descent toward Satan. Baudelaire connects women to nature as a result denying them a positive role in his imaginative vision, this is where adequate misogyny can be seen. Visit Of The Mcdonald s On Okeechobee Boulevard For this assignment I chose to visit the McDonald s on Okeechobee Boulevard in West Palm Beach and the Chick Fil A on Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard in West Palm Beach. I visited McDonald s first just after what could be considered the dinner rush. When walking into the store the first thing I noticed was the floor was fairly dirty, especially near the trash receptacles. There were clearly visible items of food that had fallen off of people s trays as they attempted to clear their trays off. I got into the line to order and noticed that there were three people ahead of me. There was only one McDonald s employee working the registers while I saw another standing by on their cell phone. I believe the second employee not working the registers was a manager. She was unaware of the line that had grown and when she looked up she signed into a register to help. I had gone into the store with the intention of only ordering a sweet tea, but if I were to have been offered an item I would buy it. I gave my order to the manager of only a sweet tea and she gave me my total. It was interesting to see that the manager did not try to upsell my order as I was only getting a $1 drink. As the drinks were a self service, I went to go get the sweet tea and found they were out of sweet tea. I informed the manager and she said they would get another one out. Rather than get a different drink I decided to wait to see how long it would take the staff to replace the sweet tea. Once the manager told ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Analysis Of Terry Moore s Speech Terry Moore s speech, How to tie your shoes , was printed in May of 2011, for the use and free viewing of the public. He discusses the reality that many people do not know that they are actually tying their shoes incorrectly, and he shares with the audience what he has found to be the proper way to tie one s shoes. Throughout his speech, Moore uses stories, demonstrations, and lighthearted humor to engage the audience and deliver his message. Though simple, Moore s speech has just the right amount of quirkiness, fun, and technicality to be memorable for most viewers. He expertly tailors his speech to be delivered to a unique audience at the Technology Entertainment and Design (TED). Conference in February of 2005. The audience consists of mostly wealthy scholars and people interested in gaining knowledge and insight. Terry Moore thinks that by showing the audience the correct way to tie their shoes, he would provide them with the quality enlightenment that they are seeking. His speech about the proper technique of shoe tying to ensure that laces stay tied for longer periods of time uses ethos, and his strongest writing strategy is his lighthearted and entertaining diction. Ethos is predominately used in the speech to connect to the audience and establish the credibility of the speaker, Terry Moore. Moore develops ethos by telling the audience a story about when he first learned the proper way to tie his shoes. By acknowledging that for many years he was unaware that he ...
