Analysis On Australian Rules
Ladies and gentleman, the film Australian Rules is simply impossible to overlook as Australia s entry
into the international film everything that a proper Australian film should, drama, romance, action and
deceit. It portrays cultural differences that create segregation between the fabrics of society in a town
that doesn t possess the capacity to co exist which is evident in urbanized Australia.
My name is ______, and I am taking it upon myself today to tell you, the good people of the
Australian Film Board that Australian Rules is capable of earning great accolade at the international
film competition and doing Australia great favours in the eyes of the international film community.
The director, Paul Goldman, has achieved what he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The same applies to a dramatic scene where the music may be deep and frantic to convey to the
audience the feeling of anticipation. A scene i would like to focus on is the scene in which Garry and
his father have a final showdown , if you will, at the front of the house. The scene consists of the
father imposing himself on Garry and proceeding to continually beat him down time after time only
for Garry to rise up and face his father on each occasion. This scene evoked a feeling of pride and
admiration from the audience as to Garry s courage and determination to convey the message to his
father that he is ready to stand on his own two feet and defy him. This is a very powerful scene within
the movie which initiated powerful emotions within the audience. All of this was accomplished with
the notable absence of music of any form. The omission of music in this scene created an atmosphere
in which the dramatic affect was amplified due to the silence.
The use of symbolism is clearly evident throughout the film. From the contrast of the colours on the
team s uniform which many believe to be a hidden symbol of unity as such, to the final scene of the
movie which entails Garry and Clarence swimming in the ocean in what appears to be a yin yan
formation. One notable use of symbolism in the film is that of the fruit and nut bar. This symbolises
the fathers role in the family, as something simple as a bar of

Stearns Book Chapter 1 Notes
Notes from Stearns text book World Civilization
1:1 The Neolithic Revolution (10 13)
Farming initially developed in the Middle East, the Fertile Crescent. Grains such as barley and wild
wheat were abundant. Also, not heavily forested, and animals were in short supply, presenting a
challenge to hunters. 10,000 BCE to 8,000 BCE. Notice: it took thousands of years for this revolution
so not fast but profound for history. Agriculture was hard for many hunting and gathering peoples to
adopt lots of work. Those in agricultural communities developed diseases, which they became
immune. The agricultural people would unintentionally infect the hunters.

Comparing The Song Clean And Taylor s Song Stitches
In every breakup leaving the relationship is not the hard part, it s the past put into the relationship that
s hard to let go. Shawn and Taylor use various symbols and imagery to illustrate what goes and comes
out of leaving a relationship. Their lyrics not only contain symbols and imagery, but also both share
their different views of ending a relationship. Shawn s song Stitches, talks about a teenage boy getting
over his first breakup verses Taylor s song Clean, goes in the direction of a girl that went through a
relationship that she cannot get over, but eventually has to in the end. These two songs have many
details that correlate with the artist s personal thoughts on torn relationships. For that reason, imagery,
song structure, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the chorus of the song he says, And now that I m without your kisses, I ll be needing stitches . What
he means, is that it takes time to get over a relationship that once was passionate, but now broken.
That once burning with love feeling that he had turned into a broken heart that s getting mended over
time. Another line in the song, in which he says Needle and the thread, gotta get you out of my head .
He says this line a number amount of times throughout the entire song. He s trying to get over the
entire relationship, but keeps remembering the good things that came out of the relationship. The way
he set up his song one can already tell the emotional pain he has probably gone through. The emotion
came throughout the song when he fused a broken relationship with the act of stitching. Relationships
start to get stitched up piece by piece until the pain of a broken heart is forgotten. While in Taylor s
song Clean, her perspective comes through the various references of water. From the start of the song,
The drought was the worst, When the flowers that we d grown together died of thirst. Which
automatically references water, but also that the relationship she once had died out like flowers dying
of thirst. She references relationships fizzling out, to the point of not having the same feelings
anymore. These two songs illustrate the anger and sadness that one goes through in a relationship that
doesn t work out in the end, but once all those feelings go away, so that major changes will form in

Sucker s Becoming A Tough Kid Analysis
Have you ever hated someone so much you wish you could kill them? Well in this story a twelve year
old kid named Sucker and his cousin/brother Pete will find out. I chose the question Do you think that
Sucker s becoming a tough kid is a good thing? . I think that it is a bad thing for a kid of Sucker s age
to act tough like that. Here are some reasons why. I think that it is a bad thing for a kid like Sucker to
act like that. Just because someone is mean to you doesn t mean you should be mean back. Pete has
always been mean to Sucker, once Pete told Sucker to jump off the roof with an umbrella and he did
it. He did it because he trusted Pete, that all changed when Pete went off on Sucker. He was different,

Popular Culture From Musicals Like Wicked With Its Popular...
Popularity is one of the most prevalent themes in adolescents experience in school and social
development. It shapes how they interact with peers, adults, and their selves. This theme is explored
and emphasized in popular culture from musicals like Wicked with its popular song titled Popular to
television shows like Sabrina the teenage witch, Glee, 90210, etc. How popular an adolescent is
defines who they are, in that it shapes where they stand amongst peers and their self perception of
their self value. Psychological research and theories support much of the popular culture perceptions
and beliefs about popularity. Original Studies Reasoning For Scientific Adaptation Away From Our
Original Perception Of Popularity Popularity is one of the most commonly studied peer interaction
phenomenon. Initially these studies assigned participants to one of the following standard sociometric
categories: popular, rejected, neglected, average, and controversial. These studies faded away for two
main reasons. The first is that this model neglected to take the school structure into consideration
when studying popularity. It ignored that due to the transition between classes starting in middle
school students no longer have a small and stable social component that social interactions and
sociometric status could be based on. The second is that popularity depends on the adolescents
perception of popularity rather than how well liked an adolescent is. Popularity heavily depends on the

The Spirit Catches You And You Fall Down
1.) The book that I chose for my book report is, The spirit catches you and you fall down. The book
was written by essayist and reporter, Ann Fadiman and was published in 1997 by Farrar, Straus and
Giroux. There are 288 pages in this book.
2.) The book is non fiction.
3.) When I was choosing a book, I was in utter confusion. I wasn t a reader and I didn t know where to
look. Luckily, however, Professor Yanmei was able to show me this amazing book!
4.) There were many characters in this book, but I will only name the major ones:
Anne Fadiman: Anne is author and narrator of this book.
Lia Lee: Lia is an epileptic child and is the daughter to Foua Yang and Nao Kao Lee. Lia is the center
of this book.
Foua Yang and Nao Kao Lee: Foua and Nao are Lia s parents. They love their daughter very much and
believes that Lia s epilepsy is the sign that she is becoming a Shaman. Foua and Nao are partially to
blame as this eventually leads them to have a cultural clash with the Doctors; leading Lia to a
vegetative state.
Neil Ernst and Peggy Philp: Neil and Peggy are Lia s main doctors. They are very open minded to the
culture of the Hmong, but struggle to get the Lees to understand the circumstances of Lia s condition.
Accordingly to them, treating the patient s illness is the bottom line. This leads to the cultural clash.
Jeanine Hilt: Jeanine is a social worker. She truly cares about Lia and the Hmong culture as she fights
against medical establishment.

The Swimmer Theme
We ignore it, we do not realize it and we certainly do not want to come to terms with it but at the end
of the day, irrespective of how we, humans, feel about it, the passage of time is inevitable. Time is
taken for granted, it is not something we pay much attention to in our everyday lives most of us cannot
even afford to do so. Our lives are slow, as is the process of realizing that we are gradually being
absorbed into oblivion, disappearing bit by bit in our own time and turning ourselves into mere
memories that in the grand scheme of things are virtually irrelevant. The Swimmer by John Cheever is
a short story that, in an incredibly accurate manner, illustrates how the neglect of reality can impair a
person s judgment and understanding of time, and negatively influence their lives. Perhaps, the larger

His journey signifies the period of time in which he ignored most events of his life, important or not,
and suppressed the influence of reality on his life. The pools that Neddy swims through represent
those periods of time. In the beginning, he is strong but eventually his powers wear off. He is reluctant
to dive in and continue swimming as he once was. He is no longer physically able to drag himself
across all those pools and finish the journey he started.
Initially, the journey goes smoothly with Neddy being well welcomed and received by his neighbors.
He stops by his neighbors houses to get drinks and have short chats with the hosts before he moves on
to the neighboring pools. However, the changes soon start to take effect. The pools are getting colder
which makes it increasingly harder for Neddy to swim through. This transition showcases the changes
Neddy goes through he is getting older and weaker and his journey as a result becomes more difficult.
These changes act as a metaphor not for the journey itself but rather for the larger portions of Neddy s

Arab Americans Have Been Targets Of Discrimination Long
Arab Americans have been targets of discrimination long before the 9/11 event happened. If they are
immigrants in America, they are seen as bombers or terrorists. And if they are American citizens, they
are seen as spies. The way Arabs are portrayed in Hollywood movies have been reflected in the way
the government and society as a whole view them. And the way Americans show their discrimination
is by rejecting or denying Arabs in all aspects of society which makes it harder for them to succeed.
Overall, Arab Americans are seen as dangerous and threatening to Americans. Because they were
being harassed all the time, they have a harder time adapting and participating in the American
society. All young Americans have a hard time finding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Al Khazraji claimed that he was denied tenure because Saint Francis College racially discriminated
against him. He never said he is Caucasian. The college assumed he is Caucasian just like how
Westerners think they can recognize Arabs or other orientalists. Although the reason why Al Khazraji
was denied a permanent spot in the faculty was not stated, there could be many reasons the college
could give to the professor. The one reasoning we can all think of that may explain the injustice denial
of tenure is the constant fear for Arabs. The important question was whether Arabs could sue under 42
U.S.C 1981 or not. The Supreme Court ruled that Al Khazraji had the right to file against the college
as a person with Arabian ancestry. In the end, the college was not able to give a reasonable reason as
to why the college professor was denied tenure. They wouldn t been able to be totally honest because
they are afraid of being seen as outright biased against Arab Americans. After the 9/11 attacks, Arab
Americans have reported more occurrences of hate crime and racial discrimination in employment.
Researchers Daniel Widner and Stephen Chicoine conducted a research project where they randomly
picked out typical white sounding names and typical Arab sounding names from reliable sources for

Essay on The First Day of School
The alarm clock buzzed loudly beside my ear. Feeling like a gong that was being hit repeatedly was
placed right beside my head. I sluggishly pulled myself out of my bed and dragged myself to my
closet. The words, first day of school moaned ghastly in my head. Summer was uneventful and school
was just going to be hell. I picked out an old, worn out flannel and a pair of jeans to wear. Not rushing
at all, I struggled to put the raggedy clothes on. They smelt like horrendous lies and rumors. Exactly
what this state and my school are built on. The kitchen was empty, signaling that I was the only one
awake. I looked in the fridge for breakfast, and found one egg and 6 mini sausages left. After staring at

Dad looks at me intently, noticing that I look a bit grim, he offers a ride.
No Dad, you need to get to work. I ll just hold you back.

The Heroin Epidemic Essay
Volunteering and participating in service projects are two of the most rewarding activities in my
opinion. Some people may find it was a hassle or only do it because they have to meet the minimum
requirement for school or work. Helping others, for me, has always been somewhat second nature to
me. Over many years of volunteering I believe I have developed qualities that will stick with me for
life and benefit me in my career. As early as freshman year, in high school, I found myself looking for
ways to give back. I started by looking for opportunities within school, where I came across the A+
tutoring program, and so my journey of giving back began. While tutoring, my patience for others
really evolved, partly by choice and partly because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

There were many developments in the agricultural and industrial revolutions in Russia and England
starting with the doubling of factories and urbanization. The effect was both good and bad because it
helped to give people jobs and be able to get money to survive and have better housing situations that

Unemployment Rate Is Still High
It is true, that unemployment rate is still high. However, it does not mean that unemployment is
equally high. There are big differences between the races, genders and ages. First of all, since the
unemployment during the Great Depression is so high, it does not mean that whites and blacks have
the same rate. I begin with a survey of the evidence on unemployment rates by race in urban labor
markets during the 1930s. In the cities, unemployment rates were systematically higher for blacks than
for whites from early in the Depression (Sundstrom). This problem is solved in some areas but it still
becomes a problem. Moreover, recently, the racial difference focuses more on Asians than the blacks.

It takes longer time for them to find a new workplace. For these unemployment rate issues, the US
economy had given the solution, which is creating more job spaces. That resulted the unemployment
seems to shrink. Nonetheless, this solution couldn t achieve to be the reliable solution. According to
Lindsey Piegza, The decline in the unemployment rate was the result of hundreds of thousands of
Americans dropping out of the labor force rather than finding gainful employment (Soergel), which
clearly explains that hundreds or thousands of jobs did not contribute to the reduction of the
unemployment rate even though there was a support from the U.S economy. In addition to, despite the
fact that creating new jobs could give a chance to the unemployed people, it doesn t mean for the
entire number of unemployed individuals. Opportunities are given more for the higher income
households or advantageous individuals. Also, large number of jobs do not matter to the people who
are not even interested in the particular jobs. Even though U.S economy provided plenty of jobs, it did
not help to abate the unemployment rate. As a result, it couldn t be a real solution for the
unemployment issue. On the other hand, compare to the previous solution, there are more solutions
which are capable to be the solutions. First of all, immigration reform. According the previous
solution, which is the U.S economy providing more jobs, it could not solve the unemployment
problem. However, if the

1. Explain why market prices are useful to the financial manager. The financial manager is responsible
for giving financial advice and support to clients and colleagues that will enable them to make good
business decisions. Particular work environments differ considerable and involve both public and
private sector organizations such as retailers, corporations, financial institutions, charities, and even
small manufacturing companies and schools (Financial Manager, 2011). Primarily, financial managers

This gives the researcher or planner a set of values that is useful enough in determining the feasibility
of a project from an economic point of view. Generally, it is simple and the results are easy to
comprehend. Costs are associated with the company that is commonly much easier to measure and
defined compared to benefits. This involves the operating and investment costs. Operating costs
involves the materials needed to maintain an operation whilst the investment costs are incurred in
planning and design such as the materials, labor, and construction costs. Benefits are, on the other
hand, difficult to measure specifically for transport projects. These are diffused and extensive (Slack
and Rodrigue, 2011). The relationship of net present value does not reside particularly on the cost
benefit per se rather it is viewed as part of the valuation principle. Net Present Value (NPV) is the
difference concerning the present value of the project or the benefits of the investment compared to
the present cost values. When the NPV positive for a project or investment opportunity, this means
that the project can be implemented. It only means that the firm s value and the wealth of the investors
are increased. In contrast, negative NPV of the investments and projects would mean losing the money
of the company if ever the project was implemented. This is in accordance with the NPV decision
rule. In investment alternatives, the highest NPV investment alternative should be

species has been going on for years. With human renovation, the homes of these birds were destroyed,
thus leading to this suspicion. Although there has been some confusion with the variable of the
Pileated Woodpecker, there are some details that contradict that possibility. Furthermore, there is
glaring evidence in the vocalizations areas, where the noises can only be identified as the rare Ivory

Inferential Statistics Basics
1) Define the following terms:
i) Inferential statistics is reasonable conclusions based on assumption of what one will have observed.
(Tucker 1988) It is restricted to one s environment for example one might say tall people are fast
runners or big women are associated with high blood pressure. (Chimedza, Muchengetwa, Chinyemba
2010) ii) According to (Chimedza, Muchengetwa Chinyemba 2010) data is a collection of numbers or
observations of things that are happening brought together for reference or analysis for example
hourly movement of a cyclone.(Tucker 1988) iii) Representative sample refers to a particular group
that will have been chosen to represent others that is a subset of a statistical population that accurately
reflects the members of the entire population (Tucker 1988) For example in a class of six students
three male and three female this is unbiased but well represented. iv) Qualitative data is data that
cannot be measured numerically and but describes (Tucker 1988) for example sex or marital status.
v) Discrete data refers to specific separate and distinct variables. (Moore 1995, 2000) For example
colour of hair or eyes even number of books in a library.
b) Differentiate the following terms
i) Systematic sampling elements are chosen following a systematic procedure at evenly spaced

This puts him in a better position to pass the arm. A pass goes overhead, if player B would have sliced

downward. Then player B returns an angle #1, this allows player A to block, cut and pass Here player
A passes, grabs to control and slices downward. From here the drill keeps repeating. Scoop Drill For
the scoop drill we are moving in the opposite direction as before. Player A attacks with an angle #1
and player B blocks up instead of down. This allows him to immediately hook his blade on the
opponents arm
What we are looking for is expediency, you would not cut down, then up to scoop as that would be
three moves and the arm may not still be in the same position. You want to simplify it, by cutting up
hooking the arm and then scooping.
From here player B grabs the arm (above the elbow) for control and slashes up. Then returns an angle
#1 attack.

Appearances Can Be Deceiving Mrs. Drover, the protagonist in the short story, The Demon Lover by

How Do Arunta Tribes Reflect Their Society
The Arunta are a group of Australian Aborigines who have many customs and reasons for why they do
what they do. Their customs reflect their society because everything they do has a reason. Some
customs may have come about because of the environment, the natural resources, or possibly just
beliefs. There are several customs about family and kinship. An Arunta camp usually has one to two
families. The Arunta live in such small groups so they do not have to worry about hunting a lot of food
for big camps. If their camp were attacked, it would be a lot easier to look after a small amount of
people and belongings. It may be more efficient to hunt in larger groups, because you have more of a
chance to find animals, and if one person were to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the Arunta men were staying away from camp hunting for several days, it would be easier to care
for five or six men instead of twenty. It would also be easier to be able to come home with only a little
meat and still be able to find the whole camp. An Arunta family is usually by itself, but each family
belongs to a clan. The clan is made up of several families, who hunt and live separately. Nevertheless,
the members of the clan are all related. This is kinship. The Arunta clans have to marry outside their
own clan so the clans will mix. The clans have no other social connections so this is very important.
Without this custom, the clans would not be friendly with each other and wars would probably happen
often. There are no forms of government or authority, so the older men of the society make decisions
for the society. They have no way of giving reasons for their decisions, so they are guides more than
they are leaders. Kinship is very important here because if a serious crime erupts, such as murder,
families will take revenge on families. The family is important because if the murderer?s family were
small, they would surely suffer a great deal. Kindness and respect are very important in a society
because the Arunta have no time for warfare and feuds. They need to spend all their time trying to
survive. When someone dies, the family goes into a mourning period. The relatives of the person show
sadness by cutting their shoulders, smearing

Picasso dropped out of school in Madrid not because he thought he did not have anything to learn

Even though he dropped out of school Picasso used his own perspective of reality to paint. After
dropping out of school Picasso moved to Paris with Carles Casagemas, Carles was Picasso s
roommate and a close and dear friend. Picasso s work was not popular, and he was unable to make an
earnings from his paintings in Paris and moved back to Barcelona. Picasso s style of painting was
about to change due to the death of his friend. While back in Barcelona, Picasso found out that Carles
Casagemas committed suicide. Picasso was very upset and troubled by the death of his friend. In
response to the death of his friend, Pablo painted The Death of Casagemas, a portrait of his friend s
head with a bullet wound. The painting has a blue tint to it. The Death of Casagemas, is considered the
first work of Pablo Picasso blue period.

The Linguistic Results Of Language Contact
Through looking at patterns of social interaction of different languages it is easy to predict the
linguistic results of language contact. This could be seen through multilingualism which is a result of
language contact between multiple different languages. Multilingualism can create diglossia which
helps display the multilingualism of a country or community and helps show it is useful for predicting
the results of language contact. Code switching in which people switch from one language to another
depending on the situation, helps show how social interaction between speakers of different languages
helps us predict the linguistic results of language contact. Then there is dialect levelling and language
change which helps show the beginning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All these reasons result in social interaction between speakers of different language, which helps
predict language contact may result in multilingualism. It is estimated that over half of all countries
are multilingual. An example of a multilingual society is Switzerland with three main languages:
French, German and Italian and each language is dominant area of its own. John Edwards believes
that everyone is bilingual, even if someone can only speak or understand, he believes that you have
some command of a foreign tongue therefore there is no clear monolingual country. Therefore
multilingualism is useful in showing how the social interaction between people of different languages
help us predict the linguistic results of language contact as it is an example of what happens when
multiple languages exist and interact in the same country.
In multilingual countries, diglossia occurs, which is the result of language contact and social
interaction. This therefore helps shows how the patterns of social interaction between speakers of
different languages predict results of language contact as diglossia is a result of this and display the
countries multilingualism. Diglossia describes societal or institutionalised bilingualism, where two
varieties are required to cover all the community s domains. (Holmes, p.30) There are two definitions
of diglossia but it is Joshua Fishman s modification of Charles Ferguson s definition that

Negotiations With The Dispute Between The Disputants
Problem Solving First of all, in order to solve any problem there need to be negotiation techniques
established to deal with the dispute between both of the disputants. First, a proper negotiation
technique must include the creation of a mutual frame. This frame consist of setting a good tone
during the negotiators opening statement. This tone can have two different effects, either there is
cooperation or competition (McCorkle Reese, 2015, p 159). There is nothing worse than having set
everything up and because of the tone that the mediator has everything fall apart. Second, there needs
to be an establishment of criteria in order to have both the disputants establish cooperation. When
criteria is established, neither of the disputants can establish their own competiveness, however, when
a disputant does establish competitiveness, it is the job of the mitigation to move out of
competitiveness and move the discussion to determine the facts (McCorkle Reese, 2015, p159). Some
ways to assist the mediator from successfully steering away from competiveness is by asking
questions that remind both disputants that the reason they are there is to solve the problem and not
cause more tension. Additionally, while some negotiators might employ brainstorming into the
techniques, this is considered optional. However, I do feel that having both disputants brainstorm can
assist then with considering both side of the issue when ideas are expressed freely. According to

Crime defined the moral and behavioral standard of the...
In a society, crime is inevitable. Crime has its effect to the society s moral and behavioral standard
because it distinguishes the line between right and wrong. Since the society transform from an
agricultural and domestic to a modern society, more people are educated. This transformation created
different classes in a society, upper class, middle class and lower class. Karl Marx suggested that
capitalism inherent a class system in which class relations are characterized by conflict. Although

It can be termed the collective or common consciousness. (Allan Allan, 2005). The moral consensus
can help the society become more stable and less argument. But it does not end the happening of
crime and deviance, it only prevent these to happen, as long as everyone follow the norms and do not
commit crime. Achieve any moral consensus is difficult, everyone have different opinions and
perspective, the mind of people are complex. For example, some people disagrees homosexuality in
society, but others may think homosexuality is a freedom of choice to their personal sexuality. People
s morality values depends on many factors, such as religion, culture background, education. Since
there are not any moral consensus in the past, people can think critically from different perspectives or

War and Deception
The responsibilities of a presidential administration to the United States should be easily defined, but
in many instances have come to be uncertain. There are two wars over the last century that have
compromised the American reputation, as well as the integrity of our people. On these two occasions
the intentions of our president have been something different than publicized to the country. The
United States as a whole was deceived by two particular leaders and their administration. Through
propaganda, selective speech, and exaggerated evidence, Presidents Lyndon Johnson and George W.

The Constitution Act Of 1982
The Constitution Act of 1982, or more commonly known as, The Charter of Rights and Freedoms,
constitutionally entrenched fundamental civil liberties, which have protected Canadians from both
federal and provincial legislative imposition. Since the Charter s inception, however, Canada s
judiciary has been placed under great criticism and scrutiny due to the fact that the courts were
believed to have been given legislative powers that rivaled both the federal and provincial legislatures.
Through Judicial Review, the Supreme Court of Canada was given the task to interpret the charter
since that wording of the legal document itself was vague enough to warrant interpretation, and hence,
gave critics a reason to believe that supreme court justices have been the power to legislate without
any political or public recourse. Unfortunately, as a result of these criticisms, various public notions,
such as appointed and not duly elected Supreme Court justices with the ability to legislate, became the
main focus in questioning whether the supreme court s institutional functions were legitimate, and in
tandem with the principles of a free and democratic society.
Given, the misconceptions regarding the Canadian judiciary by both critics and the public alike, the
purpose of this research is to investigate the functions, and criticisms surrounding the Canadian
judiciary. The result of this investigation will provide a clear and informative argument that, Canada s
judiciary did not seize

The Importance Of Religious Freedom In America
Today, in modern America, religious freedom is a right for all people, but it was not always this way.
All the founders came from different religions, and found it important to have that freedom to believe
in whatever the individual wants. It forever changed the course of America. Due to one diligent man,
it has become a part of the American life of all citizens. This man believed strongly in what he wanted,
and was persecuted for his beliefs, and kicked out of many universities and schools. He became a
strong advocate, and the colony he established would change the tolerance of all people. William
Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania, established a colony based on the ideas of religious liberty,
equality, and self government which served as the foundation of America s constitutional rights in a
secular government wherein all citizens may freely practice their religious belief, those ideas still
impact the government s inaction concerning citizens religious practices.
According to William Penn, the key principles of religious toleration were religious liberty, equality,
and self government. According to William Penn: Faith Not Force, it claims Guided by his conscience
and their teachings, Penn became an outspoken supporter and a writer in search of mutual respect for
varying religions. He became a very active supporter of this right, and continued to press for the

Similarities Between The Parthenon And Greek Pantheon
Introduction Whether simplistic or complex in style, the Greek Parthenon and the Roman Pantheon,
respectively, exhibit uniqueness of their era. Each showcases wonderful and historic characteristics of
architecture throughout the passage of time. This essay will explain the similarities and differences in
the use and functionality between these two ancient temples. Although the Greek Parthenon is
recognized as a temple, it is not truly known if the Roman Pantheon was a temple, however, it is
deemed as such (Cartwright, 2013). He also states the people of Greece were devoted to the goddess
Athena, even though the original statue has been lost over time. Consequently, if there are any specific
gods and goddesses in reference to the Pantheon, they are not given, or maybe, not known today;
speculation appears to go from one end of the spectrum to the other. The Etymology dictionary (n.d.)
does suggest it is possible, pan meaning all + theios meaning of or for the gods. Each was built using
one of the classical orders of architecture and a well known structure of their time. According to
resources given, both were not the original structures; each one is the third one of its kind to be built
at, or near, the current site. Both are considered a tourist mecca in modern times. The history and heart

Metaphors, Forms Of Human Communication And Erapeutic Uses
Metaphors, forms of symbolic language, have been used as teaching and healing tools in stories for
centuries, cite Mills and Crowley (2014). PTUK course book (2017) also cites that research by Levin
and Modell has proven that more brain cells light up in response to metaphor than any other form of
human communication forming new neural pathways. In this essay I will be looking at the theory
behind using a therapeutic story and relating it to my process of using one with my client. Sunderland
(2000) states that stories can be an important part of therapeutic tool kit, as a vehicle, through which a
child can process troubled feelings. Sunderland (2000) adds that children can often find it difficult to
put their feelings into words, as their natural communication method is through images and
metaphors. A therapeutic story can express those feelings in child s language and help the child to
build trust that her feelings are understood, which then will help the child to share her own feelings.
Sunderland (2002) also advises that there are four ways a therapeutic story can work; It can present
the child options that she can use when coming across an obstacle, it can present new ways and
solutions of dealing with problems that might have felt unsolvable, it can show ways of coping with
emotional problems, and it can provide options for new ways of being. Ericson (1991) cites that the
therapist should encourage learning through experience, as this is more beneficial than learning

Elvis Presley, By Jerry Leiber And Mike Stoller
Elvis Presley was born on January 8, 1935, in Tupelo, Mississippi, though his twin brother sadly did
not make it. Presley came from very a humble background with working class parents, though his
family had little money they moved around a lot. But they had very strong faith. Elvis went with his
parents to church where he heard gospel music spiking his interest in music. At the age of eleven he
received his first guitar as a birthday present form his mother. He also won his high school talent show
then soon after his graduation he begin to work in the music industry. He soon created his fist record,
the record label owner Sam Phillips took Presley under his wing and in 1954 he got his big break and
released his first single. Sadly, Presley passed on August 16th 1977 at the age of 42. His death was

Leiber and Mike Stoller that first became a hit for Elvis Presley. When the song begins I hear a string
and a percussion instrument that seem to be keeping the beat, the two instruments are what I believe to
be a string guitar and a type of snare drum. I would say that the tempo of this piece varies from adagio

be dividing the beats into equal parts. I also believe that he adds a rhythmic feel to the song by
highlighting and slightly lengthening the first note of each pair which

Using Forensic Analysis
The major take away from this talk are, realize the important of forensic analysis for investigators,
identify deleted data, know the process of database carver and understand the persistence of database.
In the paragraph below I will explain each lesson in detail.
The most effective advantage of using database carver is to help investigators to solve crime case.
Retrieving database would aid to identify criminals and provide evidence for the case. Also, it assists
to distinguish identity theft. Additionally, it supports analyzing the evidence against the criminal.
These cyber crimes may involve database. So, investigators use forensic analysis for digital
investigation such as, breaches, intrusions or any identity theft. Moreover, investigators could use
forensic analysis to provide useful evidence from either computer or mobile base technology. They
use the database caver to recover deleted or corrupted database to solve mysterious crime.
Furthermore, the investigators used three stages to inspect digital crime. First, they preserve the
existing evidence, take a copy of the existing storage and if there is a working memory they take a
RAM snapshot. Then, they use the database carver to reconstruct the database. Finally, they analyze
the data to associate the reassembled database.

columns.

Key value store is a concept of storing the data value inside a key and Redis uses this concept. A

al. 2004). Important takeaways from these studies indicate that members of the taxa tend to be most
responsive to simple and sweet flavored carbohydrates (Dethier 1955, as quoted in Jakinovich et. al.
1971). However, taxa members responses to amino acids have been shown to be more subtle, if
present at all, with Potter and Bertin (1988), for example, determining no significant response to a
variety of amino acid solutions in S. bullata.
Traditionally, experimental analysis of Homo sapiens taste thresholds has similarly focused on these
two classes of biomolecules, with similar sweetness thresholds as those exhibited by members of the
taxa Insecta being established in H. sapiens with respect to simple carbohydrates. For example, while
Scheiner et. al. in (2003) (as quoted in Scheiner et al. 2004), demonstrated that a sucrose concentration

of the honey bee, Apis mellifera, Richard Bowen (2016) has indicated the H. sapiens population
response threshold resides around sucrose concentrations of 3.4%.
Recently however, the movement away from the high calorie content of simple carbohydrate

A Short Note On Melanoma And Prostate Cancer

muscular organ that belongs to the male reproductive system. Approximately the size of a walnut, the
prostate is located at the base of the bladder and in front of the rectum (Prostate Gland). In conjunction
to the seminal vesicles and the Cowper s glands, the prostate secretes fluids that contain sperm which
is transported into the female reproductive tract for fertilization (Prostate Gland). The vas deferens is a

Unfortunately, prostate cancer symptoms may be asymptomatic during the beginning stages.
Therefore, all males over the age of 50 should have routine physical examinations because it is only
through some or all of the following tests that prostate cancer can be detected early. The first test I will
be discussing is called the Digital Rectal Examination (DRE), which entails the doctor placing a
gloved and lubricated finger into the rectum in order to feel for any lumps in the prostate (Cherath).
Most prostate tumors start in the posterior area of the prostate, hence why the rectum is examined due
to its location being behind the prostate gland. This type of pre screening is less efficient than a PSA
test, however, it can help men who have normal PSA levels and still have tumors. If the doctor feels
there is a need for further testing after a DRE then he/she may request other tests to confirm the
findings. Furthermore, the most common and routine blood test that helps detect prostate cancer is the
Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) test. This blood test is used to measure the amounts of PSA
circulating in the blood (Cherath). PSA is a protein made by the cells lining the prostate gland, and
normal levels of this are 4.0 ng/mL and lower.

answering those questions (100). One way the writer can do this is by refutibg the standard opinion of

He begins by noting that the criminal justice system bears little resemblance to what the Founding
Fathers contemplated . . . [and] what the average American believes. Due to plea bargains, jury trials
in the United States are exceedingly rare, in spite of constitutional provisions for a speedy and public
trial. If there is no trial, there can be no speedy trial, and that means that this constitutional right, for
most, is a myth. But while this revelation complicates and adds relevance to Rakoff s topic, he also
asks What s wrong with that? a variation of so what? In answer to this question, he says that plea
bargains are secret negotiations that invite[] arbitrary results. Both innocent and guilty defendants, in
other words, are placed in the same pot, and the goal is to achieve the appearance of fairness, not the
realization of it. Considering ninety seven percent of federal convictions are the results of guilty pleas
(Rakoff), that is a haunting injustice. Journalist Antonia Malchik takes a similar approach to in The
End of Walking. The right to walk, as Malchik calls it, might not seem as important as the right to a
fair trial, but she is explicit about the cost. Walking, Malchik observes, is an interconnection of
cognitive processes that can have a significant impact on everything from cardiovascular disease to
muscle atrophy. Yet walking as way of life is more out of reach than ever. For instance, in 2013, more
than 4,700 pedestrians were killed in traffic crashes (Malchik). Malchik further emphasizes the
seriousness of the situation by including a relevant

  • 2. Analysis On Australian Rules Ladies and gentleman, the film Australian Rules is simply impossible to overlook as Australia s entry into the international film everything that a proper Australian film should, drama, romance, action and deceit. It portrays cultural differences that create segregation between the fabrics of society in a town that doesn t possess the capacity to co exist which is evident in urbanized Australia. My name is ______, and I am taking it upon myself today to tell you, the good people of the Australian Film Board that Australian Rules is capable of earning great accolade at the international film competition and doing Australia great favours in the eyes of the international film community. The same applies to a dramatic scene where the music may be deep and frantic to convey to the audience the feeling of anticipation. A scene i would like to focus on is the scene in which Garry and his father have a final showdown , if you will, at the front of the house. The scene consists of the father imposing himself on Garry and proceeding to continually beat him down time after time only for Garry to rise up and face his father on each occasion. This scene evoked a feeling of pride and admiration from the audience as to Garry s courage and determination to convey the message to his father that he is ready to stand on his own two feet and defy him. This is a very powerful scene within the movie which initiated powerful emotions within the audience. All of this was accomplished with the notable absence of music of any form. The omission of music in this scene created an atmosphere in which the dramatic affect was amplified due to the silence. The use of symbolism is clearly evident throughout the film. From the contrast of the colours on the team s uniform which many believe to be a hidden symbol of unity as such, to the final scene of the movie which entails Garry and Clarence swimming in the ocean in what appears to be a yin yan formation. One notable use of symbolism in the film is that of the fruit and nut bar. This symbolises the fathers role in the family, as something simple as a bar of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Grains such as barley and wild wheat were abundant. Also, not heavily forested, and animals were in short supply, presenting a challenge to hunters. 10,000 BCE to 8,000 BCE. Notice: it took thousands of years for this revolution so not fast but profound for history. Agriculture was hard for many hunting and gathering peoples to adopt lots of work. Those in agricultural communities developed diseases, which they became immune. The agricultural people would unintentionally infect the hunters. • 4. Comparing The Song Clean And Taylor s Song Stitches In every breakup leaving the relationship is not the hard part, it s the past put into the relationship that s hard to let go. Shawn and Taylor use various symbols and imagery to illustrate what goes and comes out of leaving a relationship. Their lyrics not only contain symbols and imagery, but also both share their different views of ending a relationship. Shawn s song Stitches, talks about a teenage boy getting over his first breakup verses Taylor s song Clean, goes in the direction of a girl that went through a relationship that she cannot get over, but eventually has to in the end. These two songs have many details that correlate with the artist s personal thoughts on torn relationships. For that reason, imagery, song structure, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the chorus of the song he says, And now that I m without your kisses, I ll be needing stitches . What he means, is that it takes time to get over a relationship that once was passionate, but now broken. That once burning with love feeling that he had turned into a broken heart that s getting mended over time. Another line in the song, in which he says Needle and the thread, gotta get you out of my head . He says this line a number amount of times throughout the entire song. He s trying to get over the entire relationship, but keeps remembering the good things that came out of the relationship. The way he set up his song one can already tell the emotional pain he has probably gone through. The emotion came throughout the song when he fused a broken relationship with the act of stitching. Relationships start to get stitched up piece by piece until the pain of a broken heart is forgotten. While in Taylor s song Clean, her perspective comes through the various references of water. From the start of the song, The drought was the worst, When the flowers that we d grown together died of thirst. Which automatically references water, but also that the relationship she once had died out like flowers dying of thirst. She references relationships fizzling out, to the point of not having the same feelings anymore. These two songs illustrate the anger and sadness that one goes through in a relationship that doesn t work out in the end, but once all those feelings go away, so that major changes will form in ... Well in this story a twelve year old kid named Sucker and his cousin/brother Pete will find out. I chose the question Do you think that Sucker s becoming a tough kid is a good thing? . I think that it is a bad thing for a kid of Sucker s age to act tough like that. Here are some reasons why. I think that it is a bad thing for a kid like Sucker to act like that. Just because someone is mean to you doesn t mean you should be mean back. Pete has always been mean to Sucker, once Pete told Sucker to jump off the roof with an umbrella and he did it. • 6. Popular Culture From Musicals Like Wicked With Its Popular... Popularity is one of the most prevalent themes in adolescents experience in school and social development. It shapes how they interact with peers, adults, and their selves. This theme is explored and emphasized in popular culture from musicals like Wicked with its popular song titled Popular to television shows like Sabrina the teenage witch, Glee, 90210, etc. How popular an adolescent is defines who they are, in that it shapes where they stand amongst peers and their self perception of their self value. Psychological research and theories support much of the popular culture perceptions and beliefs about popularity. Original Studies Reasoning For Scientific Adaptation Away From Our Original Perception Of Popularity Popularity is one of the most commonly studied peer interaction phenomenon. Initially these studies assigned participants to one of the following standard sociometric categories: popular, rejected, neglected, average, and controversial. These studies faded away for two main reasons. The first is that this model neglected to take the school structure into consideration when studying popularity. It ignored that due to the transition between classes starting in middle school students no longer have a small and stable social component that social interactions and sociometric status could be based on. The second is that popularity depends on the adolescents perception of popularity rather than how well liked an adolescent is. Popularity heavily depends on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Swimmer Theme We ignore it, we do not realize it and we certainly do not want to come to terms with it but at the end of the day, irrespective of how we, humans, feel about it, the passage of time is inevitable. Time is taken for granted, it is not something we pay much attention to in our everyday lives most of us cannot even afford to do so. Our lives are slow, as is the process of realizing that we are gradually being absorbed into oblivion, disappearing bit by bit in our own time and turning ourselves into mere memories that in the grand scheme of things are virtually irrelevant. The Swimmer by John Cheever is a short story that, in an incredibly accurate manner, illustrates how the neglect of reality can impair a person s judgment and understanding of time, and negatively influence their lives. He stops by his neighbors houses to get drinks and have short chats with the hosts before he moves on to the neighboring pools. However, the changes soon start to take effect. The pools are getting colder which makes it increasingly harder for Neddy to swim through. If they are immigrants in America, they are seen as bombers or terrorists. And if they are American citizens, they are seen as spies. The way Arabs are portrayed in Hollywood movies have been reflected in the way the government and society as a whole view them. And the way Americans show their discrimination is by rejecting or denying Arabs in all aspects of society which makes it harder for them to succeed. Overall, Arab Americans are seen as dangerous and threatening to Americans. Because they were being harassed all the time, they have a harder time adapting and participating in the American society. Al Khazraji claimed that he was denied tenure because Saint Francis College racially discriminated against him. He never said he is Caucasian. The college assumed he is Caucasian just like how Westerners think they can recognize Arabs or other orientalists. Although the reason why Al Khazraji was denied a permanent spot in the faculty was not stated, there could be many reasons the college could give to the professor. The one reasoning we can all think of that may explain the injustice denial of tenure is the constant fear for Arabs. The important question was whether Arabs could sue under 42 U.S.C 1981 or not. The Supreme Court ruled that Al Khazraji had the right to file against the college as a person with Arabian ancestry. In the end, the college was not able to give a reasonable reason as to why the college professor was denied tenure. They wouldn t been able to be totally honest because they are afraid of being seen as outright biased against Arab Americans. After the 9/11 attacks, Arab Americans have reported more occurrences of hate crime and racial discrimination in employment. I sluggishly pulled myself out of my bed and dragged myself to my closet. The words, first day of school moaned ghastly in my head. Summer was uneventful and school was just going to be hell. Some people may find it was a hassle or only do it because they have to meet the minimum requirement for school or work. Helping others, for me, has always been somewhat second nature to me. Over many years of volunteering I believe I have developed qualities that will stick with me for life and benefit me in my career. As early as freshman year, in high school, I found myself looking for ways to give back. I started by looking for opportunities within school, where I came across the A+ tutoring program, and so my journey of giving back began. There are big differences between the races, genders and ages. First of all, since the unemployment during the Great Depression is so high, it does not mean that whites and blacks have the same rate. I begin with a survey of the evidence on unemployment rates by race in urban labor markets during the 1930s. In the cities, unemployment rates were systematically higher for blacks than for whites from early in the Depression (Sundstrom). This problem is solved in some areas but it still becomes a problem. The financial manager is responsible for giving financial advice and support to clients and colleagues that will enable them to make good business decisions. Particular work environments differ considerable and involve both public and private sector organizations such as retailers, corporations, financial institutions, charities, and even small manufacturing companies and schools (Financial Manager, 2011). This gives the researcher or planner a set of values that is useful enough in determining the feasibility of a project from an economic point of view. Generally, it is simple and the results are easy to comprehend. Costs are associated with the company that is commonly much easier to measure and defined compared to benefits. This involves the operating and investment costs. Operating costs involves the materials needed to maintain an operation whilst the investment costs are incurred in planning and design such as the materials, labor, and construction costs. Benefits are, on the other hand, difficult to measure specifically for transport projects. These are diffused and extensive (Slack and Rodrigue, 2011). The relationship of net present value does not reside particularly on the cost benefit per se rather it is viewed as part of the valuation principle. Net Present Value (NPV) is the difference concerning the present value of the project or the benefits of the investment compared to the present cost values. When the NPV positive for a project or investment opportunity, this means that the project can be implemented. It only means that the firm s value and the wealth of the investors are increased. In contrast, negative NPV of the investments and projects would mean losing the money of the company if ever the project was implemented. This is in accordance with the NPV decision rule. In investment alternatives, the highest NPV investment alternative should be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The clan is made up of several families, who hunt and live separately. Nevertheless, the members of the clan are all related. This is kinship. The Arunta clans have to marry outside their own clan so the clans will mix. The clans have no other social connections so this is very important. Without this custom, the clans would not be friendly with each other and wars would probably happen often. There are no forms of government or authority, so the older men of the society make decisions for the society. This tone can have two different effects, either there is cooperation or competition (McCorkle Reese, 2015, p 159). Sunderland (2000) states that stories can be an important part of therapeutic tool kit, as a vehicle, through which a child can process troubled feelings. Sunderland (2000) adds that children can often find it difficult to put their feelings into words, as their natural communication method is through images and metaphors. A therapeutic story can express those feelings in child s language and help the child to build trust that her feelings are understood, which then will help the child to share her own feelings. Sunderland (2002) also advises that there are four ways a therapeutic story can work; It can present the child options that she can use when coming across an obstacle, it can present new ways and solutions of dealing with problems that might have felt unsolvable, it can show ways of coping with emotional problems, and it can provide options for new ways of being. • 33. Elvis Presley, By Jerry Leiber And Mike Stoller Elvis Presley was born on January 8, 1935, in Tupelo, Mississippi, though his twin brother sadly did not make it. Presley came from very a humble background with working class parents, though his family had little money they moved around a lot. But they had very strong faith. Elvis went with his parents to church where he heard gospel music spiking his interest in music. At the age of eleven he received his first guitar as a birthday present form his mother. He also won his high school talent show then soon after his graduation he begin to work in the music industry. He soon created his fist record, the record label owner Sam Phillips took Presley under his wing and in 1954 he got his big break and released his first single. Sadly, Presley passed on August 16th 1977 at the age of 42. His death was caused by heart failure do to his drug use. (biography.com). Jailhouse Rock was written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller that first became a hit for Elvis Presley. When the song begins I hear a string and a percussion instrument that seem to be keeping the beat, the two instruments are what I believe to be a string guitar and a type of snare drum. I would say that the tempo of this piece varies from adagio in the beginning but changes to an allegro tempo as the song progresses. The guitar pattern seems to be dividing the beats into equal parts. I also believe that he adds a rhythmic feel to the song by highlighting and slightly lengthening the first note of each pair which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Using Forensic Analysis The major take away from this talk are, realize the important of forensic analysis for investigators, identify deleted data, know the process of database carver and understand the persistence of database. In the paragraph below I will explain each lesson in detail. The most effective advantage of using database carver is to help investigators to solve crime case. Retrieving database would aid to identify criminals and provide evidence for the case. Also, it assists to distinguish identity theft. Additionally, it supports analyzing the evidence against the criminal. These cyber crimes may involve database. So, investigators use forensic analysis for digital investigation such as, breaches, intrusions or any identity theft. Moreover, investigators could use forensic analysis to provide useful evidence from either computer or mobile base technology. They use the database caver to recover deleted or corrupted database to solve mysterious crime. Furthermore, the investigators used three stages to inspect digital crime. First, they preserve the existing evidence, take a copy of the existing storage and if there is a working memory they take a RAM snapshot. Then, they use the database carver to reconstruct the database. Finally, they analyze the data to associate the reassembled database. The second lesson ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The benefits of using database caver over other recovery methods it allow to recover deleted or corrupted database even if there is no RAM snapshot available. Also, it returns both history transaction and deleted rows. Moreover, it reconstructs the database with the deleted record while the backup only recovers the previous existing data. To create a database carver that suit all different database it is recommended to understand the various model of the storage in each database. Also, the database carver decoded the values from the metadata to reconstruct the original ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. An Inverse Of A Relational Model with range queries and bitmaps. 2.4 Column Store Model In this model, data is stored in sections of columns instead of rows. This is almost an inverse of a relational model. The names of the column need not be predefined, i.e. the structure isn t fixed, which helps in great scalability and performance. Columns in a row are stored in order according to their keys. A super column also might be used which is nothing but a column containing nested sub columns. 2.4.1 Cassandra: Apache Cassandra is open source NoSQL database and it was found in Facebook. Cassandra s data model offers the convenience of column indexes with the performance of log structured updates. It provides horizontal scalability and the downtime is lesser compared to ... Instead of using tables connected by keys, this model stores each record and its related data in the same document thereby eliminating the need of JOIN queries as in a relational model. Whereas Cassandra is a column oriented data model and each row in the table is not required to have same number of columns. The columns can be empty and it can have any number of columns and thus there are wide rows. Cassandra consists of keyspaces similar to databases to relational databases and column family that is similar to tables in relational databases. Key value store is a concept of storing the data value inside a key and Redis uses this concept. A particular benefit of key value stores is their simplicity and It supports such as data structures such as strings, hashes, lists, sets, sorted sets with range queries and bitmaps. Whereas in Neo4j, the application data is stored in the form graphs, nodes and relationships. Neo4j Graph database follows Property Graph Model to store and manage data. Data has to be represented in Nodes, Relationships and Properties. Relationships connects nodes and it can be unidirectional or bidirectional. Properties are key value pairs. 3.2 Replication Mode: Replication is done in order to increase availability and not to provide a single point of failure. Different databases follow different methods to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A necessary prerequisite for a full understanding of any species behavior includes possessing comprehensive knowledge of their respective sensory world. Here we attempted to determine the sensory threshold for a response to sweetness in both the flesh fly Sarcophaga bullata and Homo sapiens. Flies and humans alike were exposed to increasingly concentrated solutions of glucose and monitored for a positive response, indicative of the detection of sweetness. Results from our experiment strongly indicate the population threshold for sweetness detection in S. bullata resides at a glucose solution concentration level of 1%, while humans exhibited an increased sweetness sensitivity, with the population threshold appearing at 0.1%. However, while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... al. 2004). Important takeaways from these studies indicate that members of the taxa tend to be most responsive to simple and sweet flavored carbohydrates (Dethier 1955, as quoted in Jakinovich et. al. 1971). However, taxa members responses to amino acids have been shown to be more subtle, if present at all, with Potter and Bertin (1988), for example, determining no significant response to a variety of amino acid solutions in S. bullata. Traditionally, experimental analysis of Homo sapiens taste thresholds has similarly focused on these two classes of biomolecules, with similar sweetness thresholds as those exhibited by members of the taxa Insecta being established in H. sapiens with respect to simple carbohydrates. For example, while Scheiner et. al. in (2003) (as quoted in Scheiner et al. 2004), demonstrated that a sucrose concentration above 3% was sufficient to induce a positive sweetness detection rate of close to 60% in a population of the honey bee, Apis mellifera, Richard Bowen (2016) has indicated the H. sapiens population response threshold resides around sucrose concentrations of 3.4%. Recently however, the movement away from the high calorie content of simple carbohydrate sweeteners in the human diet, has generated an industry of artificial sweeteners commonly utilized by H. ... Bhatnagar S, Bell ME, Liang J, Soriano L, Nagy TR, and Dallman, MF. 2000. Corticosterone facilitates saccharin intake in adrenalectomized rats: does corticosterone increase stimulus salience?. Journal of neuroendocrinology 12: 453 460. Young 180 200 gram male Sprauge Dawley rats housed in individual hanging wire cages within 21 23°C twelve hour lit rooms were given food and water ad libitum until surgery to test whether adrenalectomized rats willingly drink sweet saccharin solutions as a function of circulating corticosterone, and if corticosterone increases the motivation for saccharin intake after a period of withdrawal by sham adrenalectomizing three groups of five to six rats, and bilaterally adrenalectomizing and implanting 100 milligram pellets (wax 0% Corticosterone, 15 and 30% Corticosterone cholesterol, or 100% Corticosterone) into four groups of 5 6 rats. Sham and adrenalectomized rats were immediately given 2 milliMolar saccharin and 0.5% saline bottles in their individual home cages. Over the fifteen day experiment, saccharin was allowed for four days on, three days off, four days on, three days off, and a final day on. To determine the energy balance and plasma concentrations in the groups of the adrenalectomized rats, levels of corticosterone, adrenocorticotropic hormone, insulin, and leptin were measured by radio immunoassays. 30% Corticosterone ... • 38. A Short Note On Melanoma And Prostate Cancer Allenmar Sicsic Fall 2014 Carcinoma of the prostate, commonly known as prostate cancer, is a diagnosis of a malignant tumor (adenocarcinoma) of the prostate gland (Chabner). The prostate is a significant muscular organ that belongs to the male reproductive system. Approximately the size of a walnut, the prostate is located at the base of the bladder and in front of the rectum (Prostate Gland). In conjunction to the seminal vesicles and the Cowper s glands, the prostate secretes fluids that contain sperm which is transported into the female reproductive tract for fertilization (Prostate Gland). The vas deferens is a tube that carries sperm from the testes and secretions from the seminal vesicles to the prostate. After the sperm ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unfortunately, prostate cancer symptoms may be asymptomatic during the beginning stages. Therefore, all males over the age of 50 should have routine physical examinations because it is only through some or all of the following tests that prostate cancer can be detected early. The first test I will be discussing is called the Digital Rectal Examination (DRE), which entails the doctor placing a gloved and lubricated finger into the rectum in order to feel for any lumps in the prostate (Cherath). Most prostate tumors start in the posterior area of the prostate, hence why the rectum is examined due to its location being behind the prostate gland. This type of pre screening is less efficient than a PSA test, however, it can help men who have normal PSA levels and still have tumors. If the doctor feels there is a need for further testing after a DRE then he/she may request other tests to confirm the findings. Furthermore, the most common and routine blood test that helps detect prostate cancer is the Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) test. This blood test is used to measure the amounts of PSA circulating in the blood (Cherath). PSA is a protein made by the cells lining the prostate gland, and normal levels of this are 4.0 ng/mL and lower. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Gerald Graff And Rakoff s They Say I Say In chapter seven of They Say / I Say, Gerald Graff and Cathy Birkenstein address how to improve a topic through connectivity, and how the topic relates to the reader. They do so by introducing the questions so what? and who cares? which, in their view, make for a more stimulating paper. Even if an issue is obviously consequential, Birkenstein and Graff argue, the writer should go as far as possible in answering those questions (100). One way the writer can do this is by refutibg the standard opinion of their topic (97). Judge Jed Rakoff does precisely that in his article, Why Innocent People Plead Guilty. He begins by noting that the criminal justice system bears little resemblance to what the Founding Fathers contemplated . . . [and] what the average American believes. Due to plea bargains, jury trials in the United States are exceedingly rare, in spite of constitutional provisions for a speedy and public trial. If there is no trial, there can be no speedy trial, and that means that this constitutional right, for most, is a myth. But while this revelation complicates and adds relevance to Rakoff s topic, he also asks What s wrong with that? a variation of so what? In answer to this question, he says that plea bargains are secret negotiations that invite[] arbitrary results. Both innocent and guilty defendants, in other words, are placed in the same pot, and the goal is to achieve the appearance of fairness, not the realization of it. Considering ninety seven percent of federal convictions are the results of guilty pleas (Rakoff), that is a haunting injustice. Journalist Antonia Malchik takes a similar approach to in The End of Walking. The right to walk, as Malchik calls it, might not seem as important as the right to a fair trial, but she is explicit about the cost. Walking, Malchik observes, is an interconnection of cognitive processes that can have a significant impact on everything from cardiovascular disease to muscle atrophy. Yet walking as way of life is more out of reach than ever. For instance, in 2013, more than 4,700 pedestrians were killed in traffic crashes (Malchik). Malchik further emphasizes the seriousness of the situation by including a relevant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
