President Johnson s Vision Of Creating A Great Society
Abstract
Programs to stimulate growth of minority owned businesses have existed in the United States since the
late 1960s. President Johnson s vision of creating a Great Society led to a host of endeavors that
sought to change the political, social and economic landscape of the U.S. In his 1965 commencement
address to graduates of Howard University, LBJ gave voice to his vision, declaring, We seek not just
freedom but opportunity. We seek not just legal equity but human ability, not just equality as a right
and a theory but equality as a fact and equality as a result. There has been Executive Orders issued by
the President of the United States throughout history to carry out and to promote minority owned
businesses:

For the first time, EO 11246 charged the Secretary of Labor, a Cabinet level official with strong
enforcement authority, with the responsibility of ensuring equal opportunity for minorities in federal
contractors recruitment, hiring, training and other employment practices. Until that time, such efforts
had been in the hands of various Presidential committees. EO 11246 continued and reinforced the
requirement that federal contractors not discriminate in employment and take affirmative action to
ensure equal opportunity based on race, color, religion, and national origin.
Signed by President Johnson that early autumn Friday 50 years ago, EO 11246 became a key
landmark in a series of federal actions aimed at ending racial, religious and ethnic discrimination, an
effort that dated back to the anxious days before the U.S. was thrust into World War II.
Today, Executive Order 11246, as amended and further strengthened over the years, remains a major
safeguard, protecting the rights of workers employed by federal contractors approximately one fifth of
the entire U.S. labor force to remain free from discrimination on the basis of their race, color, religion,
sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin...and opening the doors of opportunity

An Educated Person Analysis
This paper explores the characteristics of an educated person, by focusing on two basic traits
knowledge and readiness. After reading the articles, An Educated Person by Eamon Burdick, What
Does it Mean to Be an Educated Person Today by Marc Tucker, and excerpts from the book
Philosophical, Ideological, and Theoretical Perspectives on Education by Gerald Gutek the
characteristics of an educated person were compared, contrasted, and condensed to focus on the two
most influential. This essay briefly discusses what education is, who should educate, and what traits
an educated person should possess. The characteristics of an educated person that will be covered in
this essay will be knowledge and readiness.

This simple explanation for education, brings up many other questions, some easily answered such as
can education happen outside of a school setting? Yes, education can happen outside of a school, if the
last part of the definition is left off it does not take away from the idea that education is the action or
process of teaching. What are we using to educate students? Most schools use some guidelines such as
frameworks, curriculums, hopefully to help students gain a well balanced exposure to many subjects
and areas, to help students become educated people. This leads into the question when thinking about
education is who is qualified to facilitate the teaching? It would make sense that an educated person
should be the one to impart knowledge to others, because they are educated. However, what makes an
educated person? Does knowledge make someone automatically an educated person or are there other
traits necessary to gain this distinction? This essay will look at the following characteristics of an
educated person, knowledge and readiness, to determine why these are important distinctions for an

Informative Speech On Photography
I. Have you ever wondered how your cameras are able to freeze a moment in time? I have so that s
why I first took a photo class when I was a sophomore in high school.
II. I am here to talk about the tradional side of film photography.
III. I have about 4 years of experience shooting black and white photography.
IV. This is important because without film photography you wouldn t be able to easily access your

It is fairly easy; first you cut your photo paper into strips and place it under the Enlarger. The Enlarger
is the key element in any darkroom. Place negative in the native carrier with the emulsion side down
(shiny side down). A negative carrier is device designed to hold the negative in proper position in an
enlarger. (MiMi Photography, Negative carrier ). Open the slot on the enlarger for the negative carrier.
Slide it in and it should lock into place. Adjust enlarger head up or down to your desired position.
Place easel under the lens of the enlarger and adjust the projected image on easel. The easels function
is to hold your photo paper in place. Focus your image by using the focus knob until you see sharp
edges. Once your image is focused, you want to set it for 5 seconds and turn off you light. Then place
your test strip below your enlarger with the shiny side up.
Grab a cardboard to cover a portion of the test strip and press the start button on your timer. When the
light goes out, move the board an inch or two and press start button on the timer again. Repeat process
until you have exposed the strip with light. Once light has been projected on your photo paper you are

Classroom Management Philosophy Essay
Classroom Management Plan
Theoretical Introduction
* Philosophy of classroom management:
When I think of classroom management I often picture a classroom in which students learning is being
carried out with minimum interruption. Teacher is there as a facilitator of the learning process through
authentic learning activities which allow students to share and exchange information through
respective and cooperative manner. A description of a good classroom management for some teachers
or administrators or even parents may be focused or aimed at the physical order of how the classrooms
should look like in terms of students sitting at their seats or teacher pointing at a student to answer her
question one by one. I depict the picture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I always focus on controlling or for a better word directing the behavior. When a child misbehaves, it
should be stated and focused on his behavior, not the child. So the child will know that you always
care for him, but do not care for his bad or misjudged behavior. By explaining to the child, It is your
behavior that upset me, not you! will make him understand and want to correct his behavior. Young
people are curious creatures who always seek to learn more about the world. They also want to feel
good about themselves and have a sense of belonging or know that someone care about them. * A
discussion of theorists that clarify my perspective:
I believe in Rogers s Unconditional Positive Regard Theory, which stated that everyone is worthy and
acceptable regardless of their behavior. Behavior is the avenue people use to react how they feel about
other people, things and their environment. People also act out when their basic needs are not met. I
also found myself agreeing with Glasser s Choice Theory which explained that our behavior at any
given time is our best choice to satisfy one or more of our basic needs. By focusing on meeting those
basic needs of these young people such as giving them a sense of power by giving them choices,
responsibility and right to discuss about classroom rules, encouraging them on a job well attempted,
recognizing their unique quality and

Water Pollution Vs Stormwater Pollution
Abstract Stormwater pollution impacts the quality of both the environment and human health. It
degrades natural resources, threatens economic prosperity and poses health and safety risks to
communities. Stormwater pollution is the result of urban and industrial runoff getting washed into the
storm drains, seriously affecting all of our nation s water sources. Federal regulations and pollution
prevention measures can significantly influence the quality of our water, our environment and our
health. Introduction Stormwater pollution is a significant environmental and public health issue.
Stormwater pollution has substantial impacts on water quality, posing risks to the health and safety of
residential communities while degrading natural resources and threatening economical revenues.
Stormwater pollution is created when trash, waste and other contaminants are washed into storm
drains. When mixed with rainwater, this toxic mixture flows untreated into local creeks, rivers and the
ocean, polluting waterways and damaging natural resources. This paper will analyze various historical
and regulatory aspects of water quality, discuss some of the major sources of stormwater pollution and
look at the various ways stormwater pollution prevention techniques can be implemented to improve
the quality of our water. Point Source vs. Non point Source Pollution First, it is important to
distinguish between point source and non point source (NPS) pollution.

an impairment of goodwill occurs, and (d) the market value of the investment declines and is less than
the carrying value and it is concluded the decline is other than temporary. Q4 2 A differential occurs

The existence of a large differential indicates the parent paid well over book value to acquire
ownership of the subsidiary. When the differential is assigned to identifiable assets or liabilities of the
subsidiary, both the consolidated balance sheet and consolidated income statement are likely to
provide information not available in the financial statements of the individual companies. The
consolidated statements are likely to provide a better picture of the assets actually being used and the
resulting income statement charges that should be reported. Q4 10 Consolidated net income is equal to
the parent s income from its own operations, excluding any investment income from consolidated
subsidiaries, plus the income of each of the consolidated subsidiaries, adjusted for any differential

Case Study Of Star Alliance
Executive summary
Since the 1990s the alliances in the airline industries is common and there are three major airline
alliances which are present in the world are OneWorld, SkyTeam and Star Alliance. These alliances of
airlines have covered almost two third of world air traffic industry and the major contribution in this is
Star Alliance. The strategic alliances on the part of the airlines are done because of many advantages
which not only organizations reap but also the other stakeholders which are involved in this type of
alliances. This research paper is evaluation of why the strategic alliances are important and why the

Learning, specialization and fix cost distribution can spread over larger output with economies of
scales (Albers, Koch and Ruff, 2005). Three strategies were opted as motivation by the airlines to
create an alliance (i) mergers and acquisitions, (ii) setting up low cost carriers and (iii) air alliances.
Air alliance was considered as the most sustainable strategy by the Star airline. Through the strategic
alliance, the airline had an opportunity to expand and become large but at the same time they can
lower their cost by creating the competitive advantage that is why Start Alliance opted for this option
(Cojohari, 2015).
2.2 Marketing and Branding
Airline behavior could not be explained effectively with changing cost structure. In the bottom line of
any alliance marketing strategies and demand response are important. With Star Alliance, the airline
can offer their consumers large and denser global network of airlines with smooth connections among
airlines. Airlines have demands with competitive prices in Star Alliance due to economies of scope,
scale and density. In Star Alliance partners are able to offer better products and services due to airlines
increased capacity to retain and generate passengers (Cullen, Johnson and Sakano, 2000).

Nine Algorithms That Changed The Future
In Mathematics is an integral part of of computer science and computer programming. A great
example of this would be how algorithms for computer programs are directly taken from a
mathematics stand point. They are used for calculations and data processing. In the book Nine
Algorithms that Changed the Future by John MacCormick, the author takes the reader through
different algorithms that have made a significant impact on the internet and computer science as a
whole. None of these algorithms would even be possible if it was not for applied or pure mathematics.
Similarly, computer scientist can gain a lot by developing a deeper understanding of mathematical
foundations. According to Wikipedia, applied mathematics is where one studies practical problems,
whereas pure mathematics tends to focus on the ideas or concepts behind these problems. Both play
into the field of computer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Numerical analysis can be defined as the design and analysis of techniques to give approximate but
accurate solutions to difficult problems. I find this interesting because by using numerical analysis one
can find different tricks or methods of understanding or solving a problem. Many theories within
mathematics come from numerical analysis. It s been in practice for centuries and without it, simple
mathematical operations such as solving a system of equations might not exist. Furthermore, the
theory of computation also interests me due to the fact that it tests the limitations on what computers
can and can not do. According to Wikipedia, the theory of computation is split into three different
branches: automata theory and language, computability theory, and computational complexity theory.
In fact, one of the most commonly used models used when studying computation is the Turing
machine. This is because it is simpler to analysis and represents everything a computer could

Empathy In Homeless In Black Men And Public Space
In Homeless , Quindlen shows empathy toward homeless people. For example, throughout the story,
Quindlen brings forth points pertaining to how having a home is everything (193). Homeless people
don t experience little things that come with having a home such as having walls and painting them a
color of their own choosing (193). On the other hand, in Black Men Public Space , Staples makes the
reader empathize with him and blacks in general and makes the reader see his perspective. Staples
emphasizes his concern for being considered a threat in public spaces through the use of explicit
language. Staples starts off by saying, My first victim was a woman (197). Using the word victim , he
expresses explicit language and stresses his point of view. Additionally, using the word victim
provides the reader with a different perspective on how the person who is being perceived as being a
threat feels.
The outdoors, which is a public space, is not comforting. As Quindlen says, Home is where the heart
is ; it is a place of certainty, stability, predictability, [and] privacy (193). Home is a private space
surrounded by walls, making people who reside there feel secure. In contrast to Staples, Quindlen uses
implicit language because it is implied that on the other hand, living in a public space can be
threatening because certain public spaces are considered unsafe. Black people in the streets can be
perceived as being one of the many threats, like Staples was. Ironically,

New Testament Reflection Paper
Transitioning to the New Testament which contains parables showing human attitudes were created in
the course of several decades, therefore it is much more coherent than the Old Testament, which was
created in the course of a dozen or hundreds of years. Jesus Christ taught parables. This made it easier
for people to understand what Jesus was teaching them. The parables were literal, applicable, and easy
to comprehend. It was a convenient way of transmitting information. An important parable that Jesus
told was the parable of the merciful Samaritan. A man was attacked by a couple robbers while
traveling. They beat him severely, however, no one came up to help him despite the fact that he was
being passed by many people including a priest and a Levite. Shortly, the only person that took the
man and helped him was a Samaritan. He was the one that showed mercy and helped the man in need.
God was pleased with the Good Samaritan. Within the New Testament, we also experience the love of
God that embraces all the people who believe in it, regardless of their suffering, nationality and
previous beliefs. By reading the whole Bible we can find patterns to follow and live by so that our
lives become better. By reading the parables and letters, we learn to look differently and we can even
gain a new perspective from the outside. The New Testament consists of four Gospels (Matthew,
Mark, Luke, and John). These Gospels contain narratives of life, the teachings, as well as the

The Importance Of Eye Contact In Social Settings
locking eyes with the person asking the questions. Navarro (2009) points out that there is no research
to prove this myth and that it is more likely anxiety or nervousness that prevents the person from
looking directly at the person asking the question. Navarro (2009) also points out many other
subtleties that go with eye movements such as rapid or slow blinking and what they mean.
Eye Contact in Social Settings
In his article about eye contact studies, also known as Oculesics, Anderson (2015) states that studies
conducted over many years by different researchers have come to a consensus about how eye contact
is perceived. Looking someone directly in the eye especially when you or they are talking is
considered polite because it shows attention is being given even if that isn t the case inside the person
s head. Sometimes eye contact can also be misleading. The example given in the popular press
proposal about the neighbor asking your help to move and you don t want to but yet say yes, it is an
example of misleading. A common myth however is that because a person isn t directly looking at a
person when they are talking, you are being rude and not listening. However there is no research that
can validate this myth. There are many people who actually listen better when they are tinkering with
an object and even looking away. The other social aspect, especially in Asian cultures, is considered to
be rude by showing little to no eye contact, especially during a handshake.

1.1 Introduction to Internship:
Brand Equity is the added value endowed by the brand to the Product. Although the idea of using a

Chipotle Supply And Demand
Whenever the term economics come up the two terms that seem to be put together are supply and
demand. Supply and demand is the amount of a commodity, product, or service available and the
desire of buyers for it considered as factors for regulating its price. This concept is important, because
without it producers don t know how much of their product to make and what to price it at. Chipotle a
Mexican grill is an establishment that has been open since 1933. This was a small business until
McDonalds became an investor in their company in 1998 and their was no looking back from then.
Their expansion was rapid leaving more room for mistakes. This Mexican grill was quite popular until
it had a fall out with a contaminate in their meat in December of 2015. The contaminate that was
found was E.coli. E.coli is a powerful contaminate and has the power to kill someone. Chipotle had
several outbreaks where their meat was contaminated and as a result that caused customers to not want
to go their in fear of being contaminated. The supply was their, but the demand for the food quickly
plummeted causing the company to lose lots of profit. As a result the company has been spending
millions to try and regain their customers. Supply and demand is a concept that is very important for
the development of any company; to maximize sales you must have plenty of both with supply having
enough product to sell, and demand being the customer base that has been built.

Dynamic Character In Jeanne Duprau s The City Of Ember
After reading The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau, I ve learned that Lina Mayfleet (who is the main
character) is a dynamic character. At the beginning of the book, she is determined. Eventually, the
character becomes curious and adventurous. Here are some actions and dialogue to prove her
character traits. First, I have learned that Lina Mayfleet is determined by her actions. This tells me she
is not afraid to let someone down. Three supporting actions to prove this is Lina is determined to do
her job, to make sure her little sister Poppy is in reach, and she s determined to find out what the letter
said (because she deciphered the letter). Next, I have learned that Lina Mayfleet is curious through her
dialogue.

One Day In The Life Of Ivan Denisovich
The novel One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, follows the life of Ivan Denisovich Shukhov, a
Stalinist labor camp prisoner of the Soviet Union. The story only spends one day in Shukovs life in the
camp, but throughout this one day, Shukovs struggles and hardships in the camp are shown. This day
is filled with his daily struggles and chores, but to him, it ends up being a good day. Throughout the
novel many themes are shown. One major theme, in One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, is the
battle for humanity and dignity. There are many examples in the novel of the prisoner s dignity being
taken away from them, yet they somehow still manage to go on living their lives in the labor camps,
with the little dignity they have left. In the novel, Shukov and the other prisoners have little to no
control over their own lives, which is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Shukov wakes up in the morning, he decides he is going to go see the doctor, because he does
not feel well. He is denied the day off after being examined and having his temperature taken, when he

because he has no control over his own life and even sickness cannot help him. No sympathy from the
guards is shown to any of the prisoners in the camp, this goes hand in hand with how Stalin shows no
sympathy for anyone in the Soviet Union and it represents the decay of individuality, during this time.
No one had control over their own lives, in the novel, even the prisoner s thoughts and feelings are

Essay Breast Cancer
Breast Cancer Breast cancer is a disease that is becoming more and more popular in this day of age.
One in every eight women is diagnosed with breast cancer (Breast Cancer, 2010). Women and men
who suffer from breast cancer not only are fighting cancer but are also fighting the psychological
aspects of the disease. Breast Cancer is the second most diagnosed cancer among women in the United
States right behind skin cancer. Women are now surviving breast cancer a lot more frequently because
of the treatments out there to help. In 2008, the number of breast cancer survivors was 2.5 million
(Breast Cancer, 2010). The numbers of survivors is an increasing state because the research and
treatments are growing. There are many ways of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The physician may order a mammogram or ultra sound. Women are recommended to have yearly
mammograms after the age 40, but earlier if breast cancer runs in the family (National Cancer
Institute). A mammogram detects lumps in the breast and is an x ray picture of tissues inside a person
s breast. It may detect a lump before it is even felt by someone. A ultrasound also is a test that can
show details of the breast lump and its sound waves creates pictures showing if the lump is solid,
filled with fluid or a little of both. When it shows a sign of a more solid lump it is greater risk of
cancer (National Cancer Institute). Once a breast lump is detected and shows signs of being cancerous
the lump is then removed or biopsied. Biopsy is a tissue removal which is looking for cancerous cells.
There are several different types of biopsies, but is the true way to tell if these cells in the breast are
cancerous. These different types of biopsies are fine needle aspiration, core biopsy, skin biopsy or
surgical biopsy. After the tissue is removed then they can send it to the lab to determine if a person has
cancer or not (National Cancer Institute). The lump will then be considered either benign or
malignant. Benign is good meaning no cancer present, but malignant means that there is cancer
present in the tumor. After determining that a person has breast cancer it must then be staged.

Universal Symbolism In Theatre
Many different approaches have been taking to theatre for many generations. One of the more people
interpretations would have to be symbolism. Symbolism uses objects or sayings to connect situations
main characters are going through. Symbolism in the theatre can be achieved via characters, colour,
movement, costume and props. This causes the audience to think more and pay closer attention to
minor details in a play. Symbolism is also a powerful force for communicating meaning; certain
themes or ideas affect the mind of the audience more profoundly when presented indirectly through a
symbol than when presented overtly. Plays have been popular among many different cultures and they
will often use symbolism to drive home ideas. Symbolism is used to leave the audience thinking about
underlying issues antaganists are going through. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has become a staple in modern theatre, as well. Contextual symbolism and universal symbolism
have become the main types of symbolism seen in theatre. Contextual relates more to what has been
mentioned in the work and will draw on that. Universal symbolism can relate to anything outside the
story. I would have to say I chose symbolism because it is always interested me, even before this class.
I may not spot what is symbolism but when I do, it draws more depth to the work that I did not notice

Compare Eddie Carbone A Tragic Hero
I believe that the common man is as apt a subject for tragedy in its highest sense as kings were.
(Arthur Miller)
To what extent can Eddie Carbone (A View from the Bridge) and Jay Gatsby (The Great Gatsby) be
considered Tragic Heroes? What evidence is there in form, language and structure to support your
view?
In Greek tragedies, a tragic hero is traditionally characterised by several components, a notable one
being that the hero must possess a noble status. This was emphasised by Aristotle in Poetics when he
specified the tragic hero as one of those who stand out in great repute and prosperity. This quality has
been shared among other tragedy writers such as William Shakespeare. However the eighteenth
century saw the beginning of a Bourgeois ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We find out that during Act two, Eddie has revealed to the authorities that Beatrice s are cousins in the
country illegally and is now loathed by both cousins, Marco and Rodolpho. We can also see that
Catherine is no longer dependant on him and his own wife, Beatrice, remains faithful but at the same
time has lost any respect she had for him. Eddie is alone and pitiable; this point is intensified by the
stage direction where we learn that his companions, those who admired him, have gradually deserted
him: Lipari and wife exit ... Eddie calls after Louis and Mike. Eddie is even disgusted by himself as
earlier in the play when he was telling the tale of Vinny Bolanzo, the boy who betrayed his parents, he
condemningly questions How s he gonna show his face? Then comes the hero s demise. Carbone s
death leaves no doubt as to whether Miller has fulfilled this particular criterion of the tragic
hero.Although this is a tragic fall from grace there is still an argument that no ordinary man can have a
fall that can scale up to the fall of a monarch. It is arguable that the degradation of nobility, seen in
traditional tragedies, uncovers Carbone s decline as merely unimportant as he has so much less to lose
than King like Oedipus. Nonetheless, the most important reaction to the fall of a hero is the reaction of
the closest to the subject of defamation. So, although Oedipus may feel shame from the reactions of
the people of his Kingdom, it is the reaction of his family and friends that cause the audience to wince
on behalf of him. Gatsby s physical fall starts near the end of novel however, his spiritual fall arguably
begins before even meeting him. We hear about Gatsby s past and how he was a poor average man but
was honest and as the novel progresses you hear about his relationship with Daisy and how it ended
because

The Price Of Happiness By Carl Richards
The Price of Happiness Does the thought of a brand new pair of shoes fill your heart with joy? If so,
would you still feel the same about those same shoes ten years from now? Most likely, the answer to
the second question is no. That is the point that Carl Richards is trying to make in the article, The Odd
Relationship between Money and Happiness. When searching for a topic to write about, I came across
this article. I found it on the New York Times website. Richards claim is that money does not
contribute to happiness, overall. This is because having money will always lead to the desire of feeling
the need to have more, whether it is luxuries or money, itself. Although I agree with Richards up to a
point, I cannot accept his overriding assumption that money does not support happiness.
Richards article is to serve an important message: that money is not the key to true happiness. He
believes that there is not a correlation between money and happiness and that you certainly cannot buy
it. He explains that money may attempt to pursue happiness, but will fail. He points out that there are
so many people who are happier with less than what most people have. In the 6th paragraph, Richards
states, If you believe that happiness can be reduced to a functional equation up to $75,000, then how
can you explain all those stories of people around the world with very little money and a whole lot of
happiness (Richards 2)? What he means by this is that, if someone less

Shield Of Achilles
Hope often contrasts with reality, especially within Greek mythology or similar replications. For
instance, The Shield of Achilles is written by W.H. Auden in the form of a ekphrasis and details the
content on the Shield of Achilles; The Shield of Achilles juxtaposes the idea of hope portrayed by
Thetis versus reality shown through Hephaestus (further referenced as Hep). The speaker in The
Shield of Achilles is blunt in showing Thetis imagery of tranquility, peace and liveliness in
comparison to Hep´s imagery of actuality, war and idleness. Tranquility often becomes contradicted
by what is happening in actuality. As shown in the first four lines of the poem, the speaker´s attitude is
blunt; which is seen when She looked over his shoulder for vines and olive trees, marble well
governed cities and ships upon untamed seas (Lines 1 4). These lines are straight to the point in
showing that Thetis looked over Hep s shoulder and was looking for three things. Thetis, Greek
mother of Achilles instructed Hep´s, Greek god of blacksmiths to make her son a shield with certain
items on it. Thetis wanted things that showed tranquility and items that represented the reverenced
aspect of Greek culture. These items show imagery of Greece being calm and undisturbed, another
things that can be inferred is Thetis, being a mother and only wanting the best things for Achilles
including his safety in a calm city. These items are juxtaposed with actuality when Hephaestus has
done the complete opposite of what Thetis has instructed. Hephaestus created on the shining metal, his
hands had put instead an artificial wilderness and a sky like lead (Lines 5 8). A shift occurs when Hep
places the reality of what the Greeks are facing, which is a place that is becoming altered by man. He
also chooses to place what he wants to place on the shield, instead of what Thetis has instructed him
place. Negative diction also occurs when the speaker uses a world like artificial which usually has a
negative connotation that often indicates fakeness, as well as a sky instead of being blue and happy is
dark heavy metal. Peace, a time of quietness once again ruined by threats of a war occurring. Thetis
again looked over his shoulder for ritual

How Did Andy Warhol Influence Pop Art
Andy Warhol paper / Period 6 Andy Warhol was definitely an intriguing and controversial character.
He paved the way for an entirely new art style, pop art; he even went on to take the title of the Pope of
Pop . There were many reasons why people were drawn to him and the controversy that surrounded
him. Andy Warhol was born on August 6, 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As an artist he would go
on to become a prominent figure in pop culture. He created strange movies of people sleeping or
eating and while his pop art was slightly less weird they still strayed along the lines of different. The
pop art movement occurred around the late 1950s in the United States. This new style of art
emphasized popular imagery which was made identifiable

Living A Life Of Poverty
All over the world, many have gone through the struggle of poverty. You don t have to be homeless to
struggle more than the next person, it could be just not having lights on in your home, past due rent, or
maybe not having enough or anything at all to eat. Many, feel like because they go through similar
things that they will never accomplish anything due to them not having the resources. Others around
you can be very doubtful of you too, which could make you believe even more that you weren t meant
to go further in life. Christopher Wallace aka The Notorious B.I.G. or Biggie Small s song Juicy,
released in 1994 from his Ready to Die album, selling over 607,000 copies is a great example of living
a life of poverty. Biggie tells of his story through song, where he relates of doubtful people and his
struggle. This song is about a young black male who went from poverty to living his version of the
American dream based on textual analysis of the lyrics.
Biggie makes it known throughout his entire song that he isn t ashamed of how he grew up before
wealth. I think that his main point was to let people know that he will never forget where he came
from and that it s the lessons he learned during his childhood/teen years, that undisguisedly got him to
where he is now. From the beginning to end of the song Biggie lets us in on little bits of his past, for
example Remember when I used to eat sardines for dinner (verse 1, line 14). In this lyric, he talks of
how it was one of the

Nontestimonial Hearsay Case Study
Q. What factors from Davis suggest that the evidence would be excluded by the Confrontation
Clause? Hearsay Hearsay is a statement, other than the one made by the declarant testifying in the
court, offered in evidence to prove the truth of the matter asserted. Confrontation Clause Under the
Sixth Amendment, Confrontation Clause provides that in all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall
enjoy the right to be confronted with the witnesses against him. Here, we must first determine if the
dialog during the 911 call in question establishes a testimonial or nontestimonial hearsay.
Nontestimonial hearsay will be subject to the FRE and falls outside of the scope of the
Confrontational Clause protection. Therefore, the provision of the Confrontation Clause would be
inapplicable. Testimonial Statement Statements are testimonial when the circumstances indicate that
there is no ongoing emergency, and that the primary purpose of the interrogation is to establish
evidence for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is apparent that the victim was making the phone call from the place of reasonable safety since the
defendant had left the house. Also, she stated that she was not physically hurt and didn t need any
medical attention. Even though the operator told the victim that the police was on their way to her
place, she expressed her wish twice during the call to get the defendant arrested. Her concerns for the
defendant s return does not give rise to the situation necessarily deemed to be an emergency. These
facts suggest that the purpose of her 911 call was not made in her effort to obtain the police assistance
urgently in resolving the danger that she might have been facing at the time of her call. It was rather to
document the past event. It was for the purpose of reporting the details of the assault that had occurred

Achilles Villain
There is a fine line between a villain and hero. Not only are deeds taken into consideration, but actions
as well. Much like real life, it is never easy knowing who plays what role until the final moments of
their life. But is it fair to just take the bad moments and use them against a person? Does not the
means justify the end? Achilles had a struggle within himself as well as externally with Agamemnon.
Achilles had to decide whether he should be taken advantage of to help his city or go against his
principles to save his pride. During Achilles time, the Greeks considered him a hero due to his birth as
a demigod. He was the son of the nymph Thetis and the mortal Peleus. When Achilles was nine years
old, Calchas told him about a prophecy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His departure was not a sign of cowardice. He was trying to prove a point to Agamemnon that his
taking Briseis, Achilles war prize, was dishonorable and insulting. The battle that they had fought in
which he had taken her captive had already proven his prowess as a warrior, and because he wanted it
known that he was the greatest of the Achaean warriors and they could not triumph without him. Troy
could not fall without the help of Achilles, as prophesied by Calchas.Achilles had to make a tough
decision prior to just letting them walk into their own deaths. Agamemnon demanded that Achilles
bride and war prize Briseis be given to him. Achilles believed that the demand was unjust and
resembled that of Paris kidnapping Helen. He was in the same position as Menelaos. The argument
between himself and Agamemnon was as righteous as war to Achilles. Even though Agamemnon
offered to return Briseis and other numerous gifts, Achilles stays angry. This does indicate one of
Achilles flaw: excessive pride. Agamemnon may have offered gifts, but none amount to the public
insult that Achilles had suffered. Achilles would rather have his pride restored then have anything in
the world. Agamemnon also has a history of given and taken back gifts resulting in empty

The Sliced-Crosswise Only Tuesday World Summary
A. Eternium Cylinders, or stoners as the characters in The Sliced Crosswise Only on Tuesday World
call them, are essentially pods in which people will hibernate until their next day arrives. Eternium
cylinders could be scientifically based on cryonics, in which a person s body will be frozen and their
bodily functions will pause until they are taken out of the chamber. This is significant in The Sliced
Crosswise Only on Tuesday World by Philip Jose Farmer because the world has become
overpopulated and the only way to reduce the stress is to have groups of people live only one day a
week. B. A glittering metallic framework, scarcely larger than a small clock, and very delicately made.
This is an excerpt from H.G. Wells The Time Machine in which the time traveler is displaying a small
replica of his time travel device to his friends. This small model has the same capabilities as its full
size counterpart, as was demonstrated in the novel as the model launched into the future (or the past).
This model is scientifically based in the theory of time travel and how our perception of time could be
altered. This model time machine is significant to the story because the time traveler uses it in an
attempt to convince his friends that he himself is going to be the first person to travel into the future.

President Johnson s vision of creating a Great Society led to a host of endeavors that sought to change the political, social and economic landscape of the U.S. In his 1965 commencement address to graduates of Howard University, LBJ gave voice to his vision, declaring, We seek not just freedom but opportunity. For the first time, EO 11246 charged the Secretary of Labor, a Cabinet level official with strong enforcement authority, with the responsibility of ensuring equal opportunity for minorities in federal contractors recruitment, hiring, training and other employment practices. Until that time, such efforts had been in the hands of various Presidential committees. EO 11246 continued and reinforced the requirement that federal contractors not discriminate in employment and take affirmative action to ensure equal opportunity based on race, color, religion, and national origin. Signed by President Johnson that early autumn Friday 50 years ago, EO 11246 became a key landmark in a series of federal actions aimed at ending racial, religious and ethnic discrimination, an effort that dated back to the anxious days before the U.S. was thrust into World War II. Today, Executive Order 11246, as amended and further strengthened over the years, remains a major safeguard, protecting the rights of workers employed by federal contractors approximately one fifth of the entire U.S. labor force to remain free from discrimination on the basis of their race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin...and opening the doors of opportunity through its ... This simple explanation for education, brings up many other questions, some easily answered such as can education happen outside of a school setting? Yes, education can happen outside of a school, if the last part of the definition is left off it does not take away from the idea that education is the action or process of teaching. What are we using to educate students? Most schools use some guidelines such as frameworks, curriculums, hopefully to help students gain a well balanced exposure to many subjects and areas, to help students become educated people. This leads into the question when thinking about education is who is qualified to facilitate the teaching? It would make sense that an educated person should be the one to impart knowledge to others, because they are educated. However, what makes an educated person? Does knowledge make someone automatically an educated person or are there other traits necessary to gain this distinction? This essay will look at the following characteristics of an educated person, knowledge and readiness, to determine why these are important distinctions for an educated ... Classroom Management Philosophy Essay Classroom Management Plan Theoretical Introduction * Philosophy of classroom management: When I think of classroom management I often picture a classroom in which students learning is being carried out with minimum interruption. Teacher is there as a facilitator of the learning process through authentic learning activities which allow students to share and exchange information through respective and cooperative manner. By explaining to the child, It is your behavior that upset me, not you! will make him understand and want to correct his behavior. Young people are curious creatures who always seek to learn more about the world. They also want to feel good about themselves and have a sense of belonging or know that someone care about them. * A discussion of theorists that clarify my perspective: I believe in Rogers s Unconditional Positive Regard Theory, which stated that everyone is worthy and acceptable regardless of their behavior. Behavior is the avenue people use to react how they feel about other people, things and their environment. People also act out when their basic needs are not met. I also found myself agreeing with Glasser s Choice Theory which explained that our behavior at any given time is our best choice to satisfy one or more of our basic needs. It degrades natural resources, threatens economic prosperity and poses health and safety risks to communities. Stormwater pollution is the result of urban and industrial runoff getting washed into the storm drains, seriously affecting all of our nation s water sources. Federal regulations and pollution prevention measures can significantly influence the quality of our water, our environment and our health. Many theories within mathematics come from numerical analysis. It s been in practice for centuries and without it, simple mathematical operations such as solving a system of equations might not exist. Furthermore, the theory of computation also interests me due to the fact that it tests the limitations on what computers can and can not do. According to Wikipedia, the theory of computation is split into three different branches: automata theory and language, computability theory, and computational complexity theory. In fact, one of the most commonly used models used when studying computation is the Turing machine. This is because it is simpler to analysis and represents everything a computer could ... • 13. Empathy In Homeless In Black Men And Public Space In Homeless , Quindlen shows empathy toward homeless people. For example, throughout the story, Quindlen brings forth points pertaining to how having a home is everything (193). Homeless people don t experience little things that come with having a home such as having walls and painting them a color of their own choosing (193). On the other hand, in Black Men Public Space , Staples makes the reader empathize with him and blacks in general and makes the reader see his perspective. Staples emphasizes his concern for being considered a threat in public spaces through the use of explicit language. Staples starts off by saying, My first victim was a woman (197). Using the word victim , he expresses explicit language and stresses his point of view. Additionally, using the word victim provides the reader with a different perspective on how the person who is being perceived as being a threat feels. The outdoors, which is a public space, is not comforting. As Quindlen says, Home is where the heart is ; it is a place of certainty, stability, predictability, [and] privacy (193). Home is a private space surrounded by walls, making people who reside there feel secure. In contrast to Staples, Quindlen uses implicit language because it is implied that on the other hand, living in a public space can be threatening because certain public spaces are considered unsafe. Black people in the streets can be perceived as being one of the many threats, like Staples was. Ironically, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. New Testament Reflection Paper Transitioning to the New Testament which contains parables showing human attitudes were created in the course of several decades, therefore it is much more coherent than the Old Testament, which was created in the course of a dozen or hundreds of years. Jesus Christ taught parables. This made it easier for people to understand what Jesus was teaching them. The parables were literal, applicable, and easy to comprehend. It was a convenient way of transmitting information. An important parable that Jesus told was the parable of the merciful Samaritan. A man was attacked by a couple robbers while traveling. They beat him severely, however, no one came up to help him despite the fact that he was being passed by many people including a priest and a Levite. Shortly, the only person that took the man and helped him was a Samaritan. He was the one that showed mercy and helped the man in need. God was pleased with the Good Samaritan. Within the New Testament, we also experience the love of God that embraces all the people who believe in it, regardless of their suffering, nationality and previous beliefs. By reading the whole Bible we can find patterns to follow and live by so that our lives become better. By reading the parables and letters, we learn to look differently and we can even gain a new perspective from the outside. The New Testament consists of four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John). • 17. The Importance Of Eye Contact In Social Settings locking eyes with the person asking the questions. Navarro (2009) points out that there is no research to prove this myth and that it is more likely anxiety or nervousness that prevents the person from looking directly at the person asking the question. Navarro (2009) also points out many other subtleties that go with eye movements such as rapid or slow blinking and what they mean. Eye Contact in Social Settings In his article about eye contact studies, also known as Oculesics, Anderson (2015) states that studies conducted over many years by different researchers have come to a consensus about how eye contact is perceived. Looking someone directly in the eye especially when you or they are talking is considered polite because it shows attention is being given even if that isn t the case inside the person s head. Sometimes eye contact can also be misleading. The example given in the popular press proposal about the neighbor asking your help to move and you don t want to but yet say yes, it is an example of misleading. A common myth however is that because a person isn t directly looking at a person when they are talking, you are being rude and not listening. However there is no research that can validate this myth. There are many people who actually listen better when they are tinkering with an object and even looking away. The other social aspect, especially in Asian cultures, is considered to be rude by showing little to no eye contact, especially during a handshake. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Compare Eddie Carbone A Tragic Hero I believe that the common man is as apt a subject for tragedy in its highest sense as kings were. (Arthur Miller) To what extent can Eddie Carbone (A View from the Bridge) and Jay Gatsby (The Great Gatsby) be considered Tragic Heroes? What evidence is there in form, language and structure to support your view? In Greek tragedies, a tragic hero is traditionally characterised by several components, a notable one being that the hero must possess a noble status. This was emphasised by Aristotle in Poetics when he specified the tragic hero as one of those who stand out in great repute and prosperity. This quality has been shared among other tragedy writers such as William Shakespeare. However the eighteenth century saw the beginning of a Bourgeois ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We can also see that Catherine is no longer dependant on him and his own wife, Beatrice, remains faithful but at the same time has lost any respect she had for him. Eddie is alone and pitiable; this point is intensified by the stage direction where we learn that his companions, those who admired him, have gradually deserted him: Lipari and wife exit ... Eddie calls after Louis and Mike. Eddie is even disgusted by himself as earlier in the play when he was telling the tale of Vinny Bolanzo, the boy who betrayed his parents, he condemningly questions How s he gonna show his face? Then comes the hero s demise. Carbone s death leaves no doubt as to whether Miller has fulfilled this particular criterion of the tragic hero.Although this is a tragic fall from grace there is still an argument that no ordinary man can have a fall that can scale up to the fall of a monarch. It is arguable that the degradation of nobility, seen in traditional tragedies, uncovers Carbone s decline as merely unimportant as he has so much less to lose than King like Oedipus. Nonetheless, the most important reaction to the fall of a hero is the reaction of the closest to the subject of defamation. So, although Oedipus may feel shame from the reactions of the people of his Kingdom, it is the reaction of his family and friends that cause the audience to wince on behalf of him. If so, would you still feel the same about those same shoes ten years from now? Most likely, the answer to the second question is no. That is the point that Carl Richards is trying to make in the article, The Odd Relationship between Money and Happiness. When searching for a topic to write about, I came across this article. I found it on the New York Times website. Richards claim is that money does not contribute to happiness, overall. This is because having money will always lead to the desire of feeling the need to have more, whether it is luxuries or money, itself. Although I agree with Richards up to a point, I cannot accept his overriding assumption that money does not support happiness. Richards article is to serve an important message: that money is not the key to true happiness. He believes that there is not a correlation between money and happiness and that you certainly cannot buy it. He explains that money may attempt to pursue happiness, but will fail. He points out that there are so many people who are happier with less than what most people have. In the 6th paragraph, Richards states, If you believe that happiness can be reduced to a functional equation up to $75,000, then how can you explain all those stories of people around the world with very little money and a whole lot of happiness (Richards 2)? • 28. Shield Of Achilles Hope often contrasts with reality, especially within Greek mythology or similar replications. For instance, The Shield of Achilles is written by W.H. Auden in the form of a ekphrasis and details the content on the Shield of Achilles; The Shield of Achilles juxtaposes the idea of hope portrayed by Thetis versus reality shown through Hephaestus (further referenced as Hep). The speaker in The Shield of Achilles is blunt in showing Thetis imagery of tranquility, peace and liveliness in comparison to Hep´s imagery of actuality, war and idleness. Tranquility often becomes contradicted by what is happening in actuality. As shown in the first four lines of the poem, the speaker´s attitude is blunt; which is seen when She looked over his shoulder for vines and olive trees, marble well governed cities and ships upon untamed seas (Lines 1 4). These lines are straight to the point in showing that Thetis looked over Hep s shoulder and was looking for three things. Thetis, Greek mother of Achilles instructed Hep´s, Greek god of blacksmiths to make her son a shield with certain items on it. Thetis wanted things that showed tranquility and items that represented the reverenced aspect of Greek culture. These items show imagery of Greece being calm and undisturbed, another things that can be inferred is Thetis, being a mother and only wanting the best things for Achilles including his safety in a calm city. These items are juxtaposed with actuality when Hephaestus has done the complete opposite of what Thetis has instructed. Hephaestus created on the shining metal, his hands had put instead an artificial wilderness and a sky like lead (Lines 5 8). A shift occurs when Hep places the reality of what the Greeks are facing, which is a place that is becoming altered by man. He also chooses to place what he wants to place on the shield, instead of what Thetis has instructed him place. Negative diction also occurs when the speaker uses a world like artificial which usually has a negative connotation that often indicates fakeness, as well as a sky instead of being blue and happy is dark heavy metal.
