The Unification Of Germany And Italy
The unification of Germany and Italy was centered around the belief of nationalism. Nationalism is
the belief that one s greatest loyalty should not be to a king or an empire but to a nation of people who
share a common culture and history. The nation will then become a nation state when it has its
independent government. Bonds that will create a nation state are nationality, language, culture, and
religion. Germany and Italy both went to drastic measures to unify their countries In 1815, Italy as
divides after the Congress of Vienna. Some provinces were still under Austrian rule such as Venetia
and Lombardy. The Spanish Bourbon family ruled the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies while the Pope
controlled the Papal States. Seeing the separation of states, Mazzini, Garibaldi, and Cavour made
advancements towards unifying the country. Mazzini formed a nationalist group called Young Italy.
He called for an end to foreign rule and the unification of Italy based on the common language and
culture of the people. This movement was called the risorgimento. This plan failed and the former
rules of Italian states drove Mazzini and other nationalist leaders into exile. Next came Garibaldi who
was the leader of the Red Shirts. They were volunteers who followed Garibaldi in Southern Italy. This
nationalist group was successful in gaining control of Sicily in 1860. He then crossed into the
mainland and marched north. After Garibaldi took complete control of Southern Italy, the people

How Does Heathcliff s Past Affect Relationships Throughout...
The influence of a character s past can greatly shape their relationships which is shown in Emily
Bronte s novel, Wuthering Heights, she plays on the unknown origins of a character and how it can
damage their relationships throughout the novel. The disconnection of one s past is greatly shown in
Emily Bronte s character, Heathcliff, the effects of not knowing who he truly was causes damage to
his relationships and his internal self. The unconnected relationship between Heathcliff and his past
forces him to figure out where he came from which causes him to repress those who have a
connection to their true selves which is displayed in Catherine and his relationship. Heathcliff has
great love for Catherine but also feels inadequate because

Madama Butterfly Analysis
Italian opera of the 19th century was deeply rooted in national life. Italy was unified under Victor
Emmanuel II in 1859 61, and verismo was the popular form of composing operas at this time.
Verismo, or realism, is a phase of naturalism in literature and music characterized by projection on
stage of fierce passions, violence, and death. Operas of the verismo style paint a picture of everyday
people that were mainly from the middle class, doing extraordinary things. An example of this is
Puccini s Madama Butterfly, which is set in the contemporary world, and deals with an American
sailor and his Japanese bride. The opera challenges the superficially exotic world of Japan that it
inhabits, and ends with a geisha girl committing suicide on stage. In Madama Butterfly, Puccini blends
the musical styles from Italy, Japan, and America to create an opera for all.
While opera was and has been rooted in its own nationality, composers started to include the ideas of
exoticism in their writing. At this time, Japan had closed themselves off from other lands for about
300 years. When they opened up, westerners were curious about the Japanese culture and vise versa.
Rudolf Dittrich was a teacher of western music at the Tokyo School of Music, Puccini quotes Dittrich
s music many times throughout Madama Butterfly in order to create a hybrid of Westernized Japanese
style . Puccini uses this hybrid style instead of authentic Japanese melodies in order to accentuate the
drama of Butterfly s

CIDR creates a hierarchical addressing structure by breaking the network address into CIDR blocks,
which are identified by the leading bit string, similar to the classful addressing just described.
To understand the importance of DNS and how it functions within a Window Server 2008 networking
environment, you must first understand the following components of DNS * DNS Namespace * DNS
Zones * Types of DNS name servers * DNS resource records * The DNS namespace is a hierarchical,
tree structured namespace, starting at an unnamed root used for all DNS operations. There are Root
level domains, Top level domains, second level domains and subdomains. DNS uses a fully qualified
domain name to map a host to an IP address. One benefit of the hierarchical structure of DNS is that it
is possible to have two hosts with the same host names that are in different locations in the hierarchy.
Another benefit of the DNS hierarchy structure is that workload for name resolution is distributed
across many different resources, through the use of DNS caching, DNS zones, and delegation of
authority through the use of appropriate resource records.
DHC is an open, industry standard protocol that reduces the complexity of administering networks
based on TCP/IP. It provides a mechanism for automatically assigning IP addresses and reusing them
when they are no longer needed by the system to which they were assigned. It also provides
mechanisms

There is an ancient Chinese proverb, that goes by Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach
a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime . Today, I would like to discuss my cousin, Stephanie

students, ranging from 12 to 17 year olds, came from low income families around Taiwan, seeking
help in learning English, as they do not normally have the proper resources to do so. Though the
language barrier was a formidable obstacle, Stephanie bonded with her students and other teachers,

students overcame it together with pointing and various other universal gestures and facial
expressions. This way, the students were encouraged to understand English better to communicate
with their teacher, and my cousin refined her own oral Chinese skills. The students were kind and
willing to help despite [her] poor Chinese, and didn t judge [her] either (Lam). The students were
happy enough that she came all the way to Taiwan to teach them English. They respected this, and
were eager to help her discover a new culture and improve on her Chinese abilities. The barrier was
still tough for Stephanie, but thanks to the kindness of her students, it was much easier to bear through
and succeed. It was a new and unknown world for my cousin, but she still made the most of her
experience and discovered so much more about East Asian culture. The program itself was quite

of respect towards [the teachers] (Lam). The students still followed rules and appropriate classroom

The Half Has Never Been Told
:Slavery and the making of American Capitalism
Back when America was being shaped, tobacco was the main slave produced trade in the colonies.
Plantations all across the south had a majority of the slaves from Africa brought here on ships. Forced
to work for their slave owners. Tobacco wasn t the only booming business. Cotton soon came into the
picture, the north was a more industrial economy, while the south remained agricultural. The most
important economic development in the mid 19th century was the shift from the upper south to lower
south. The upper south relied on tobacco , it was very unstable , and the land was used. So the shift to
cotton was a necessity.
Slavery was huge in america, and it even lead to a civil war, it lasted a very long time, from 1619
1865. We still struggle with slavery today because we still struggle with its legacy. Without cotton the
north would not have been able to industrialize, at least not as quickly because cotton textiles were
one of the first industrially produced products and the most important commodity in world trade by
the 19th century. Almost every plantation owner bought slaves. The south was so plowed into slaves
there was little room for technological advances, like railroads, I think the south sucked at the civil
war thing because of that reason. In short slavery dominated the south, shaping it both economically
and culturally. It s

Jefferson Vs Hamilton Vs. Hamilton
Jefferson vs. Hamilton Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton lived in a time where things in the
United States were not extremely stable, and the Declaration of Independence was yet to be set in
stone. Jefferson and Hamilton had two separate and different lifestyles and views of the government.
Jefferson was born approximately 12 years earlier than Hamilton, on April 13, 1743 in the English
Colony of Virginia. Since his father was wealthy, Jefferson received the best education possible and
had a very simplistic childhood. On the other side, Hamilton was born on approximately January 11,
1755 on the island of Nevis, in an unsteady home where his father was not successful and drifted out
of his life. Not only did their differences in the way Jefferson and Hamilton were brought up differ,
especially their ideas and views on government and the Constitution. Jefferson, our first Secretary of
State had differing ideas on government that Hamilton. Jefferson said about the Constitution, ...I like
the organization of the government into Legislative, Judiciary, and Executive... This quote states that
he favors a more viewpoint in which he favored a small government and states rights. Today, he would
have been part of the Republican Party. He also believed that the Majority should always be
victorious, and that the nation should stick to an agricultural lifestyle. Since he favored the
Constitution and wrote a majority of it, there were things that upset him when he was

Folk Hero Essay
A Folk hero in China Folk hero is almost in every country, and the story of the hero is often gives
some positive moral. Folk hero s stories are always popular at every age. However, the reason for me
to choose this topic is I wrote the same topic in another class about two years ago. This time I also
want to write this topic, but I have new ideas and new opinions during this two years. China has a
history of more than 5000 years even if there are many dynasties of change. During this 5000 years
there are lots of folk heroes appeared. Some of the heroes were deified gods, but most of them are real
people. For these heroes, people usually added lots of character or power to them. Because the
purpose of people is to spread these heroes stories and make people learn these heroes characters by
this. The character likes brave, loyal, clever and honest. And the stories have the similar part with
other countries folk hero which is the justice always prevail over evil. George R.R. Martin once said,
Most have been forgotten. Most deserve to be forgotten. The heroes will always be remembered. The
best. The best and the worst. And a few who were a bit of both. But lots of folk heroes are always
popular. We should remember heroes, because their stories can teach us much things, these things are
always very important for us. And there is a folk hero who I am really respects him in China history.

The Stone Age Poem
The poetess realistically depicts the burdens of domestic life, sickness, her ageing and decaying of
body, and the anticipation of death in the final passage: I shall be the fat kneed hag in the long queue
The one from whose shopping bag the mean potato must Roll across the road. I shall be the patient On
the hospital bed, lying in drugged slum And dreaming of home. I shall be the grandmother Willing
away her belongings, those scraps and trinkets More lasting than her bones. Perhaps some womb in
that Darker world shall convulse, when I finally enter, A legitimate entrant, marked by discontent.
(Gino) The Stone Age, one of the finest poems in this anthology, strongly expresses the note of
rebellion against male domination. The wife resents the restraints imposed on her. The husband who is
described as an Old fat spider weaves webs of bewilderment around her and confines her within the
four walls of domesticity. She painfully complains. You turn me into a bird of stone, a granite Dove,
you build round me a shabby drawing room, And stroke my pitted face absent mindedly while you
read. She dislikes him as other men haunt her mind. Yet, as day dreams, strong men cast their
shadows, they sink Like white suns in the swell of my Dravidian blood. (The Stone Age)
In the absence of the husband she knocks at another s door. She asserts her individuality and
challenges domesticity. A note of rebellion and defiance is strongly expressed in this poem.

The Rise Of Mass Democracy

The Rise of Mass Democracy
I. The Corrupt Bargain of 1824
i. After the Era of Good Feelings, politics was transformed. The big winner of this transformation was
the common man. Specifically, the common white man as universal white manhood suffrage (all white
men could vote) became the norm. ii. In the election of 1824, there were four towering candidates:
Andrew Jackson of Tennessee, Henry
Clay of Kentucky, William H. Crawford of Georgia, and John Q. Adams of Massachusetts.
1. All four called themselves Republicans.
2. Three were a favorite son of their respective region but Clay thought of himself as a national figure
(he was Speaker of the House and author of the American System ). iii. In the results, Jackson got the
most popular votes and the most electoral votes, but he failed to get the majority in the Electoral
College. Adams came in second in both, while Crawford was fourth in the popular vote but third in the
electoral votes. Clay was 4th in the electoral vote. iv. By the 12th Amendment, the top three electoral
vote getters would be voted upon in the House of
Reps. and the majority (over 50%) would be elected president.
v. Clay was eliminated, but he was the Speaker of the House, and since Crawford had recently
suffered a paralytic stroke and Clay hated Jackson, he threw his support behind John Q. Adams,
helping him become president.
1. When Clay was appointed Secretary of the State, the traditional stepping stone to the presidency,

In his on Education, Pericles is directly criticizing Spartans and their way of life, comparing it to
Athens more well rounded, yet equally worthy of honor, system of education. To begin with, it is
important to consider the context in which Pericles is delivering this funeral oration. Honoring the
fallen Athenian heroes in the Peloponnesian War, Pericles refers to our rivals as Sparta, which, along
with its allies, retaliated against Athens in this military confrontation. In the excerpt, Pericles is

The Effect Of Body Composition, Size And Age On The...
The effect of body composition, size and age on the regulation of glucose in fasting individuals
Abstract: Glucose homeostasis is the process in which the body regulates glucose by secreting
hormones such as insulin and glucagon from the pancreas. It is controlled by a mechanism known as a
negative feedback loop. The experiment compares the blood glucose levels of three fasting individuals
at several intervals within 120 minutes, body measurements such as BMI and body fat percentage
were also recorded. Sample 1 and the experimental sample had similar blood glucose up until the
readings taken at 60 minutes however from there onward sample 1 did not regulate glucose as well as
the experimental sample. Sample 2 exhibited high blood glucose levels at every reading, showing that
they do not regulate glucose properly. In comparison to the other subjects sample 2 is the oldest, has
the highest BMI value and the largest waist to hip ratio, in conclusion body composition plays an
important role on how the body regulates glucose. Introduction: Glucose is a key source of energy for
much of the cells, tissues and organs within the body. The result of either a low or high blood glucose
level can have catastrophic effects on the body. For instance, a low blood glucose level; known as
hypoglycaemia, can lead to a person suffering from seizures, loss of consciousness and at extreme
cases death (Szablewski, 2011). Similarly, prolonged instances of high blood glucose levels; known as

The Struggle Between Social Class In The Creature And...
The creature and Victor Frankenstein. Similar to how Marxist theory observes the remarkable struggle
between social classes, the interactions between said characters, and their struggles, are put on display
by Shelly. The exchanges between different characters (or social classes) can be explained by Marx s
Communist Manifesto which states that two classes, one being the owners of production named the
bourgeoisie and the workers or the proletariat (Montag 386). In this situation Victor can be compared
to the bourgeoisie while the creation can be represented by the proletariat. In Frankenstein, a similar
dynamic arises within the relationship between Victor and his creation as a definitive struggle rises
between the two characters. After the successful birth of the monster Victor enjoys the reaps of his
labor and establishes his power effectively exerting control over the lower class or, in this case, his
creation. Throughout this evolution, Shelly depicts the relationship between the monster and
Frankenstein with Shelly depicts the Marxist evaluation of capitalism. Later on, when Victor becomes
enslaved by the horror of his creation, similar Marxist theory is displayed through what is defined as
the products of labor. As a result of this, the monster becomes powerful and rebels against Victor, or
his creator, who he describes as incompatible. This power struggle represents the struggle between the
upper and lower classes, or, the bourgeoisie and the proletariat. At

Forecasting is an integral part in planning the financial future of any business and allows the company
to consider probabilities of current and future trends using existing data and facts. Forecasts are vital
to every business organization and for every significant management decision. Forecasting, according
to Armstrong (2001), is the basis of corporate long run planning. Many times, this unique approach is
used not only to provide a baseline, but also to offer a prediction into the corporation s future. In the
functional areas of finance and accounting, forecasts provide the basis for budgetary planning and cost
control. Marketing relies on sales forecasting to plan new products, compensate sales personnel, and

Causal tries to understand the system underlying and surrounding the item being forecast. Under
Causal type there are Regression analysis, Econometric models and Leading indicators. Starting with
Regression analysis, similar to least squares method in time series but may contain multiple variables,
basis is that forecast is caused by the occurrence of other events. Econometric models the forecast
attempts to describe some sector of the economy by a series of interdependent equations. An
input/Output model focuses on sales of each industry to other firms and governments; it indicates the
changes in sales that a producer industry might expect because of purchasing changes by another
industry. Leading Indicators type are statistics moving in the same direction as the series being
forecast but move before the series, such as an increase in the price of gasoline indicating a future
drop in the sale of large cars.
Simulation Models are dynamic models; Dynamic modeling in organizations is the collective ability
to understand the implications of change over time. This skill lies at the heart of successful strategic
decision process. The availability of effective visual modeling and simulation enables the analyst and
the decision maker to boost their dynamic decision by rehearsing strategy to avoid hidden pitfalls.

Intelligent [UNK] Pavilion Analysis
The Intelligent Hospital™ Pavilion was presented at Orlando s Healthcare Information and
Management Systems Society (HIMSS) 2014 conference. The concept of an Intelligent Hospital™
started in 2009 as an initiative from the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) in Health Care
Consortium (Frisch, 2014). Its purpose was to promote and seamlessly combine education and
technology into an environment that can enhance patient care by having live demonstrations utilizing
the latest technology. Five different types of hospital rooms including ICU (as seen in the video),
emergency department, cardiology suite, labor and delivery and a step down unit were featured in the
Intelligent Hospital™ Pavilion along with an intelligent pharmacy.
The first type of technology mentioned in this video to provide the proper environment in the ICU and
used in the ICU at the Intelligent Hospital™ was Switchable Privacy Glass, also known as eGlass.
eGlass provides privacy for the patient along with infection control compared to curtains or double
pane glass improving patient s ICU experience. eGlass can be easily switched from clear to opaque
white. It can allow a clear view into a patient s room but can also easily provide privacy for exams,
procedures, and private conversations when necessary. eGlass is a solution that eliminates ... Show

My Life Changing Event
In life, we all have life changing events that happen to everyone and usually makes us think about the
decision that we made. For me my life changing event was when I had my first real heartbreak about a
few months ago. The reason it was so heartbreaking was because my ex cheated on me not once not
twice, but over seven different times with several women. Since my first real heartbreak has happened
to me, I realized that a first heartbreak is tough to get over, but after all you do recover from it and you
do move on with your life. My first real heartbreak started when I started dating this guy name,
Kenny. We begin dating in mid March of 2017, and of course, I thought our relationship was perfect
turns out it was anything but perfect. All relationships are not ideal, but my relationship was horrible.
It was horrible because I never thought the person I loved so much would cheat on me with several
women. I would never have imagined, that Kenny would cheat on because I really thought that this
man actually did love me. At first, our relationship was fun and loving, and we were always together
every day and every weekend. Then out of nowhere, he started acting really different like he would
rarely text me back anymore. This when I started thinking this man was cheating on me, but yet I was
putting all of that nonsense in my head, but turns out that he was actually cheating on me. This is
when my trust issues started coming out, and I felt like I couldn t trust my

The Consequences Of The Louisiana Purchase
The Louisiana Purchase set a dangerous precedent as the President of the United States, Thomas
Jefferson and Congress ignored the constitution when agreeing to purchase the territory. This purchase
of land violated the limitations that Thomas Jefferson and Republicans had fought for while the
Federalist party was in control of the Presidency and Congress. However, the political climate of
France, Spain and the United States set the stage for Jefferson to violate his strict constructionist
beliefs, to allow the Louisiana Purchase.
The Louisiana Purchase was the agreement to purchase the land west of the Mississippi River but east
of the Rocky Mountains, and from the Canada Lake of the Woods in the north to the Gulf of Mexico
in the south. This purchase would eventually lead to the formation of part or all of fifteen states. The
agreement was between France and the United States of America.
At one time this land had been under the control of Spain following the French and Indian war, but
France ceded the land to Spain for payment of debts for the war. For approximately thirty years Spain
did very little to develop Louisiana. In 1801 Spain signed a secret treaty to return the Louisiana
Territory back to France, in exchange for Napoleon s promise to give the Spanish royal family rule
over Tuscany. For reasons of his own, Napoleon, the leader of France, in 1803 offered to sell the land
to the United States of America. The leaders of our country were concerned that the

It is hard to believe that even the Spaniards imagined that one journey in 1492 will change theirs and

of prosperity and glory for the Spanish empire but at the cost of the destruction of American societies.
The encounter with the new world was controversial historical moment that created one united history

The Bybee Torture Memo Essay
The Bybee Torture Memo
On August 1, 2002, Justice Jay Bybee submitted the Bybee Memo or the Torture Memo , which
describes the behavior that U.S. officials must exercise when interrogating outside of the continental
U.S. as governed by the UN Convention Against Torture. Although this memo was rendered
inoperable by the Bush Administration in 2004; for years, it gave license to American troops to inflict
cruel amounts of pain, effectively torture upon their prisoners under the label of coercive interrogation

These weaknesses, however, are minimal compared to the strengths of his argument.
Hatfield contends that torture is so fundamentally wrong that it requires no written prohibition. At the
core of morality, it is simply not acceptable. However, there are many international doctrines of peace
keeping which outright prohibit torture such as the Universal Declaration of Rights, the International
Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the Geneva Convention and so on (pg. 132). He feels that as a
lawyer, he is demoralized when other lawyers seek to revisit the legality of torture. However, the
United States has submitted a document, the Bybee Memo, which enacted a law contrary to these
accepted credos of behavior and these proponents of human dignity. ...what is clearly torture by any
moral standard is not torture under American legal standards (pg. 132). So how is it that one of the
world s largest democracies, can proclaim that coercive interrogation is not torture ?
The Bybee Torture Memo was crafted by a team of lawyers with purposeful intent in response to a
CIA query. Ultimately, someone (the President) wanted assurance, that contrary to world views,
torture was in some form permissible. The memo

Richard Benner s Theory Of Nurses Developing Skills And...
BENNER S THEORY FROM NOVICE TO EXPERT AND ITS
ROLE IN APRN PRACTICE
Gagandeep Sandhu
Samuel Merritt University
Patricia Benner s theory From Novice to Expert is based on the concept of nurses developing skills
and understanding of the patients care overtime which comes from their continued efforts towards
trying to achieve strong education and personal experience. The theory explains the five levels of
nursing experience: novice, advanced beginner, competent, proficient, and expert. Starting from
novice where they don t have any experience and simply follow instructions, nurses finally reach the
expert level transitioning through different levels where they rely on their experience rather than
principles or guidelines to connect situations and determine actions. Their performance is fluid,
flexible, and highly proficient at this level. Benner stresses on skills through experience as a
prerequisite for becoming an expert nurse (Nursing world, 2013).
Benner s theory gives a hope to new nurses and nurse practitioners in a way that experience brings
expertise. Benner emphasizes on professional growth within the organization with increased
experience. This theory provides a useful structure for practice development and marks out the
difference between the functioning of novice and experienced nurses (Lyneham, Parkinson Denholm
(2009). It emphasizes on the power of expertise and empowers the nurse to expand her knowledge. It

Asteroid Theory
In the early nineteen hundreds, dinosaur fossils were discovered and recognized around the globe.
Scientists and paleontologists began contemplating how such densely populated creatures vanished.
Currently, paleontologists debate the two main hypotheses of how the dinosaurs died from either the
volcano activity or the asteroid impact. Both theories resulted in the same outcome yet differ in key
elements such as, the physical evidence left behind encourages every conceivable clarification for the
termination in charge of wiping out the dinosaurs.
As a matter of fact the theory that has gained wide acceptance today is that an asteroid collided with
Earth. A large meteor like ball striking the Earth ejecting enough debris and dust that it resulted
sunlight blockage long enough to modify the atmospheres climate, executing a comparability of the
nuclear winter. These events occurred in a sort of domino effect, plants were the first to die out,
followed by the herbivores that ate them, and finally the carnivores that fed on the herbivores. Walter
and Luis Alvarez from the University of California at Berkeley proposed the main hypothesis in 1980.

Innocent people were killed on the basis that they may possibly be enemies of the state, although

Around the same time, the Vietnam War began adjacent to Cambodia between communist North

sent supplies to their guerilla army in South Vietnam by way of the Ho Chi Minh trail which passed

However, the bombing mainly affected Cambodia and had disastrous results, as it destroyed much of

The United States was anti communist, and also decided to replace Cambodia s leader, the socialist

Effects of Motivation on Learned Helplessness
Effects of Motivation on Learned Helplessness Learned helplessness is a psychological condition in
which a human being or an animal has learned to act or behave helpless in a particular situation, even
when it has the power to change its unpleasant or even harmful circumstance (Seligman, 1975). This
feeling of helplessness is generated when the individual has been exposed to previous uncontrollable
events and thus learns to fail in the current situation because responding in the past had yielded
insignificant results (Nation Massad, 1975). Therefore by attributing uncontrollable negative
outcomes to internal and lasting causes, people might perceive that future events will also be
uncontrollable. As such, helplessness is manifested in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From these inventories, the researchers found that the need for validation from others was positively
related to negative moods such as anxiety and depression. On the other hand, a person who is more
self reinforcing (higher intrinsic motivation) is less vulnerable to anxiety and depression. This is
mainly because individuals with a high need for reassurance from others (extrinsically motivated) are
more vulnerable to anxiety and depression when others are not present to motivate them compared to
intrinsically motivated individuals. Since learned helplessness is often linked with depression
(Abraham, Metalsky Alloy, 1989) extrinsically motivated individuals are more prone to learned
helplessness compared to intrinsically motivated individuals. Thus, this research shows mixed results
on whether motivation helps to reduce learned helplessness. The present study hopes to show that
motivation does help in reducing learned helplessness among young adults. The study does not aim to
replicate any of the earlier studies but serves as a brand new experiment to affirm the fact that
motivation helps in reducing learned helplessness. The hypothesis to be proved is that motivation aids
in reducing learned helplessness among young adults. This concurs with the studies done by Seligman
(1975), Kuhl (1981), Deci and Ryan (2000) Boggiano and Barrett (1985) in the motivation helps to

The Impact Of Employment Conditions On Occupation
The impacts of employment conditions on occupation fulfillment is that people decide work
fulfillment by looking at what they are getting from the occupation and what they might want to or
trust that they ought to get. For instance, if a worker is accepting a yearly compensation of $35,000
and trusts that he or she ought to be accepting a compensation of $30,000 than he or she will feel
fulfillment; in any case, if the worker trusts that he or she ought to get $40,000 than he or she will feel
dissatisfaction. This correlation would apply to every occupation aspect including: aptitude level,
position, limited time openings and supervision. The impacts of low employment fulfillment can be
extensive and this issue is of sympathy toward independent company proprietors and also huge
organizations. On the off chance that workers are not content with their occupations, a few regions of
their work are influenced and their conduct can likewise influence different employees. When one
employee is hopeless doing their occupation, the majority of the other employees they come into
contact with will be influenced by their disposition. Unfortunately, if you see somebody who is so
clearly unhappy, it will have you wondering what is wrong taking you away from what you need to be
doing. Negative states of mind can spread through a work environment like an out of control fire. Low
occupation fulfillment, combined with low representative assurance breaks even with an absence of
profitability

A Study on Metafictive Devices in the French Lieutenant’s...
A Study on Metafictive Devices in The French Lieutenant s Woman Abstract The French Lieutenant s
Woman is a splendid literary work written by English novelist John Fowles. It was published in 1969
and received universally acknowledged reputation as a masterpiece of postmodern novel. With
intricate plot, the novel is regarded as a compelling historiographic metafiction in contemporary
British literature. The characteristics of this novel are the metafictive devices employed by the author.
Different from the previous studies centered on the idea of role reversal between characters or the
analysis of sophisticated plot, this thesis is devoted to the exploring of metafictive devices adopted in
the novel. The paper will first state the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another characteristic is the adoption of multiple endings, adding an extra layer of richness to the text.
This kind of ending reveals the fact that the real word is full of possibilities and fluctuations. The
paradoxes of fictionality and reality constitute not only the structure of novel but also the appearance
of Sarah Woodruff. Sarah exists in the novel as well as appears in the reality. Fowles once mentioned
that The French Lieutenant s Woman emerged from the fact that he was haunted by a recurring image
of a mysterious woman, standing motionlessly at the end of a quay and starring at the sea. Thus Sarah
in 1867 England is the materialization of Fowles haunting woman of the 20th century. Fowles s
innovative narrative techniques not only allow readers to actively participate in the creation of his
novel, but also illustrate his aim in criticizing the female hysteria and the rigid Victorian convention.
From the perspective of sexual ethics, Sarah has been categorized as a new woman who refuses to
conform to the feminine role and the accepted ideals of marriage and maternity. The delineation of
Sarah with selfhood and autonomy displays Fowles s sensibility to female liberation. Moreover,
throughout the novel, the characters have suffered social constraints in various manifestations. In line
with the theme concerning emancipation, Fowles has declared his resistance to be manipulated by
conventional morality and obligations. His

Wizard Of Oz Changes
How different can two editions of the Wizard of Oz be? Even if they are written by different authors in
different times, how much can you change a classic children s book? I was hoping when I began this
that I would be able to see significant changes in the story, but you have to look pretty closely to see
the variations within Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum and Wizard of Oz retold by William
Furstenburg. The main reason that Furstenburg changed details from Baum s original story is because
Furstenburg s retelling is directed towards an audience of young children, probably ages 3 8. While
Baum s original text is meant for older kids around the ages of 9 14. The main change throughout the
two books were mostly minor details. These details trickled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Toto is seen as Dorothy s reason to laugh, play, and smile. In Baum s text he describes the dog saying
that, Toto was not gray; he was a little black dog, with long silky hair and small black eyes that
twinkled merrily on either side of his funny, wee nose. Toto played all day long, and Dorothy played
with him, and loved him dearly. (Baum 7). Both editions of Oz describe Toto as being black and
having a distinct nose and sparkly eyes. Although Baum has a bit more advanced description of the
way that Toto assisted Dorothy, Furstenburg includes a description that reads, He made Dorothy laugh,
and they played together all day long. (Furstenburg 5). In Furstenburg s version he also says about
Toto s looks, Toto was a little black dog with a funny nose and bright, sparkling eyes. (Furstenburg 5).
In both texts we get the idea of what Toto would look like and how he was a helpful companion to
Dorothy.
In Furstenburg s retelling, he does not use chapters because his book is much shorter. Baum used
chapters because his book was meant for the older age group I mentioned earlier. I think Baum s use
of chapters might actually have been a bit unnecessary because the chapters are so short, that I think
taking them away would not make a big difference in the way the book is read and

The First Restoration Continues
During 1963 and 1964 summers, restoration work continued at the island. Dad hired Ronald Shutler
and Jon Short to work on the house in 1963. Jon only worked for us that one summer whereas Ronald
assumed caretaker duties through 1967 when he returned to farming. Ronald had grown up on a farm
in nearby Hammond, and like many young men who grew up on farms, he was a tireless worker who
possessed the desirable trait of staying on task.
I have a photograph showing Ron and Jon painting the front steps while a pair of neighbors and my
sisters are painting the lattice. I recognized the date of this painting party as August 17, 1963. Dad
makes reference to this event in his diary. It was the same day Dad and Mom s hosted their second
annual cocktail party.
Ron and Jon came to work while I was at summer school near Lake Chocorua, New Hampshire. I fell
victim to the sophomore slump, and consequently needed to make up a couple of courses in a six week
session at the High House venue. When I returned, I learned Jon had taken on the assignment of

Palestine and Israel
Our views of world conflicts such as war are influenced by the part of the world in which we live.
When exploring media coverage of discord, it is important to think about where the author is from and
how it has influenced the way he/she has portrayed disharmony. Reports on a world conflict can
express extremely different views depending on the social values and understandings of the writers.
One must read articles that address the issue of war with cultural relativism by taking into account the
local values and historical experiences of the writer. By neglecting this approach, a reader may be
persuaded to believe biased and often untrue facts. When researching the war in the Middle East, for

Palestinian intellectuals interpreted this action as an attempt of their youth to shake themselves free

generations Israel s domination of Jerusalem had gone largely unchallenged. The fighting continued
and the casualties that resulted were high. Most of the 1,300 deaths were Palestinians. In 1993 the
international community attempted to find a permanent solution by creating the Oslo agreement. Parts
of Jerusalem were officially handed over to the Palestinian self rule authority of Yasser Arafat while
the Israelis continued to control other sections. Despite the peace efforts the war is still raging strong

Is William Wordsworth s Lines Composed A Few Miles Above...
William Wordsworth s lyrical ballad, Lines Composed a Few Miles above Tintern Abbey, illustrates
the connection between the speaker and an Abbey he visits frequently in his memory. Wordsworth s
ballad takes place during the Industrial Revolution, a time in which the speaker s way of life is
drastically changing from the nature rich life he experienced before moving into the city. The Abbey is
the one place that the speaker is able to relive his memories prior to his city life. Therefore, the
speaker finds himself reminiscing on his memory of the Abbey as a way to remember this significant
chapter in his life. When the speaker thinks of the his memory of looking down at the Abbey, or what
he describes as beauteous forms, he is reminded of his former lifestyle. His memory makes it easy to
compare life before to his life now. But oft, in lonely rooms, and mid the din Of towns and cities, I

  • 2. The Unification Of Germany And Italy The unification of Germany and Italy was centered around the belief of nationalism. Nationalism is the belief that one s greatest loyalty should not be to a king or an empire but to a nation of people who share a common culture and history. The nation will then become a nation state when it has its independent government. Bonds that will create a nation state are nationality, language, culture, and religion. Germany and Italy both went to drastic measures to unify their countries In 1815, Italy as divides after the Congress of Vienna. Some provinces were still under Austrian rule such as Venetia and Lombardy. The Spanish Bourbon family ruled the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies while the Pope controlled the Papal States. Seeing the separation of states, Mazzini, Garibaldi, and Cavour made advancements towards unifying the country. Mazzini formed a nationalist group called Young Italy. He called for an end to foreign rule and the unification of Italy based on the common language and culture of the people. This movement was called the risorgimento. This plan failed and the former rules of Italian states drove Mazzini and other nationalist leaders into exile. Next came Garibaldi who was the leader of the Red Shirts. They were volunteers who followed Garibaldi in Southern Italy. This nationalist group was successful in gaining control of Sicily in 1860. He then crossed into the mainland and marched north. After Garibaldi took complete control of Southern Italy, the people voted to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Madama Butterfly Analysis Italian opera of the 19th century was deeply rooted in national life. Italy was unified under Victor Emmanuel II in 1859 61, and verismo was the popular form of composing operas at this time. Verismo, or realism, is a phase of naturalism in literature and music characterized by projection on stage of fierce passions, violence, and death. Operas of the verismo style paint a picture of everyday people that were mainly from the middle class, doing extraordinary things. An example of this is Puccini s Madama Butterfly, which is set in the contemporary world, and deals with an American sailor and his Japanese bride. The opera challenges the superficially exotic world of Japan that it inhabits, and ends with a geisha girl committing suicide on stage. In Madama Butterfly, Puccini blends the musical styles from Italy, Japan, and America to create an opera for all. While opera was and has been rooted in its own nationality, composers started to include the ideas of exoticism in their writing. At this time, Japan had closed themselves off from other lands for about 300 years. When they opened up, westerners were curious about the Japanese culture and vise versa. Rudolf Dittrich was a teacher of western music at the Tokyo School of Music, Puccini quotes Dittrich s music many times throughout Madama Butterfly in order to create a hybrid of Westernized Japanese style . Puccini uses this hybrid style instead of authentic Japanese melodies in order to accentuate the drama of Butterfly s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

CIDR creates a hierarchical addressing structure by breaking the network address into CIDR blocks, which are identified by the leading bit string, similar to the classful addressing just described. To understand the importance of DNS and how it functions within a Window Server 2008 networking environment, you must first understand the following components of DNS * DNS Namespace * DNS Zones * Types of DNS name servers * DNS resource records * The DNS namespace is a hierarchical, tree structured namespace, starting at an unnamed root used for all DNS operations. There are Root level domains, Top level domains, second level domains and subdomains. DNS uses a fully qualified domain name to map a host to an IP address. One benefit of the hierarchical structure of DNS is that it is possible to have two hosts with the same host names that are in different locations in the hierarchy. Another benefit of the DNS hierarchy structure is that workload for name resolution is distributed across many different resources, through the use of DNS caching, DNS zones, and delegation of authority through the use of appropriate resource records. DHC is an open, industry standard protocol that reduces the complexity of administering networks based on TCP/IP. It provides a mechanism for automatically assigning IP addresses and reusing them when they are no longer needed by the system to which they were assigned. It also provides mechanisms ... Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime . Today, I would like to discuss my cousin, Stephanie Lam, who went to Taiwan one summer to teach English in a two week enrichment program. Her students, ranging from 12 to 17 year olds, came from low income families around Taiwan, seeking help in learning English, as they do not normally have the proper resources to do so. There was a time she didn t know how to describe a white board marker in Chinese, so she asked her class how to say it. One girl, who went by the name of Tracy, eagerly told [Stephanie the word], and had a huge smile on her face (Lam). Even though the language barrier was difficult, she and her students overcame it together with pointing and various other universal gestures and facial expressions. This way, the students were encouraged to understand English better to communicate with their teacher, and my cousin refined her own oral Chinese skills. The students were kind and willing to help despite [her] poor Chinese, and didn t judge [her] either (Lam). The students were happy enough that she came all the way to Taiwan to teach them English. They respected this, and were eager to help her discover a new culture and improve on her Chinese abilities. The barrier was still tough for Stephanie, but thanks to the kindness of her students, it was much easier to bear through and succeed. It was a new and unknown world for my cousin, but she still made the most of her experience and discovered so much more about East Asian culture. • 7. Slavery And The Making Of American Capitalism Jose Arciga Robert Dean History 110 11.10.15 Essay Prompt The Half Has Never Been Told :Slavery and the making of American Capitalism Back when America was being shaped, tobacco was the main slave produced trade in the colonies. Plantations all across the south had a majority of the slaves from Africa brought here on ships. Forced to work for their slave owners. Tobacco wasn t the only booming business. Cotton soon came into the picture, the north was a more industrial economy, while the south remained agricultural. The most important economic development in the mid 19th century was the shift from the upper south to lower south. The upper south relied on tobacco , it was very unstable , and the land was used. So the shift to cotton was a necessity. Slavery was huge in america, and it even lead to a civil war, it lasted a very long time, from 1619 1865. We still struggle with slavery today because we still struggle with its legacy. Without cotton the north would not have been able to industrialize, at least not as quickly because cotton textiles were one of the first industrially produced products and the most important commodity in world trade by the 19th century. Almost every plantation owner bought slaves. The south was so plowed into slaves there was little room for technological advances, like railroads, I think the south sucked at the civil war thing because of that reason. In short slavery dominated the south, shaping it both economically and culturally. It s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hamilton Jefferson vs. Hamilton Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton lived in a time where things in the United States were not extremely stable, and the Declaration of Independence was yet to be set in stone. Jefferson and Hamilton had two separate and different lifestyles and views of the government. Jefferson was born approximately 12 years earlier than Hamilton, on April 13, 1743 in the English Colony of Virginia. Since his father was wealthy, Jefferson received the best education possible and had a very simplistic childhood. On the other side, Hamilton was born on approximately January 11, 1755 on the island of Nevis, in an unsteady home where his father was not successful and drifted out of his life. Not only did their differences in the way Jefferson and Hamilton were brought up differ, especially their ideas and views on government and the Constitution. The Stone Age Poem The poetess realistically depicts the burdens of domestic life, sickness, her ageing and decaying of body, and the anticipation of death in the final passage: I shall be the fat kneed hag in the long queue The one from whose shopping bag the mean potato must Roll across the road. I shall be the patient On the hospital bed, lying in drugged slum And dreaming of home. I shall be the grandmother Willing away her belongings, those scraps and trinkets More lasting than her bones. Perhaps some womb in that Darker world shall convulse, when I finally enter, A legitimate entrant, marked by discontent. (Gino) The Stone Age, one of the finest poems in this anthology, strongly expresses the note of rebellion against male domination. The wife resents the restraints imposed on her. The husband who is described as an Old fat spider weaves webs of bewilderment around her and confines her within the four walls of domesticity. She painfully complains. You turn me into a bird of stone, a granite Dove, you build round me a shabby drawing room, And stroke my pitted face absent mindedly while you read. She dislikes him as other men haunt her mind. Yet, as day dreams, strong men cast their shadows, they sink Like white suns in the swell of my Dravidian blood. (The Stone Age) In the absence of the husband she knocks at another s door. She asserts her individuality and challenges domesticity. A note of rebellion and defiance is strongly expressed in this poem. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. The Effect Of Body Composition, Size And Age On The... The effect of body composition, size and age on the regulation of glucose in fasting individuals Abstract: Glucose homeostasis is the process in which the body regulates glucose by secreting hormones such as insulin and glucagon from the pancreas. It is controlled by a mechanism known as a negative feedback loop. The experiment compares the blood glucose levels of three fasting individuals at several intervals within 120 minutes, body measurements such as BMI and body fat percentage were also recorded. Sample 1 and the experimental sample had similar blood glucose up until the readings taken at 60 minutes however from there onward sample 1 did not regulate glucose as well as the experimental sample. Sample 2 exhibited high blood glucose levels at every reading, showing that they do not regulate glucose properly. In comparison to the other subjects sample 2 is the oldest, has the highest BMI value and the largest waist to hip ratio, in conclusion body composition plays an important role on how the body regulates glucose. Introduction: Glucose is a key source of energy for much of the cells, tissues and organs within the body. The result of either a low or high blood glucose level can have catastrophic effects on the body. For instance, a low blood glucose level; known as hypoglycaemia, can lead to a person suffering from seizures, loss of consciousness and at extreme cases death (Szablewski, 2011). Similar to how Marxist theory observes the remarkable struggle between social classes, the interactions between said characters, and their struggles, are put on display by Shelly. The exchanges between different characters (or social classes) can be explained by Marx s Communist Manifesto which states that two classes, one being the owners of production named the bourgeoisie and the workers or the proletariat (Montag 386). In this situation Victor can be compared to the bourgeoisie while the creation can be represented by the proletariat. In Frankenstein, a similar dynamic arises within the relationship between Victor and his creation as a definitive struggle rises between the two characters. After the successful birth of the monster Victor enjoys the reaps of his labor and establishes his power effectively exerting control over the lower class or, in this case, his creation. Throughout this evolution, Shelly depicts the relationship between the monster and Frankenstein with Shelly depicts the Marxist evaluation of capitalism. Later on, when Victor becomes enslaved by the horror of his creation, similar Marxist theory is displayed through what is defined as the products of labor. As a result of this, the monster becomes powerful and rebels against Victor, or his creator, who he describes as incompatible. This power struggle represents the struggle between the upper and lower classes, or, the bourgeoisie and the proletariat. At ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, the political climate of France, Spain and the United States set the stage for Jefferson to violate his strict constructionist beliefs, to allow the Louisiana Purchase. The Louisiana Purchase was the agreement to purchase the land west of the Mississippi River but east of the Rocky Mountains, and from the Canada Lake of the Woods in the north to the Gulf of Mexico in the south. This feeling of helplessness is generated when the individual has been exposed to previous uncontrollable events and thus learns to fail in the current situation because responding in the past had yielded insignificant results (Nation Massad, 1975). From these inventories, the researchers found that the need for validation from others was positively related to negative moods such as anxiety and depression. On the other hand, a person who is more self reinforcing (higher intrinsic motivation) is less vulnerable to anxiety and depression. This is mainly because individuals with a high need for reassurance from others (extrinsically motivated) are more vulnerable to anxiety and depression when others are not present to motivate them compared to intrinsically motivated individuals. Since learned helplessness is often linked with depression (Abraham, Metalsky Alloy, 1989) extrinsically motivated individuals are more prone to learned helplessness compared to intrinsically motivated individuals. • 36. The First Restoration Continues During 1963 and 1964 summers, restoration work continued at the island. Dad hired Ronald Shutler and Jon Short to work on the house in 1963. Jon only worked for us that one summer whereas Ronald assumed caretaker duties through 1967 when he returned to farming. Ronald had grown up on a farm in nearby Hammond, and like many young men who grew up on farms, he was a tireless worker who possessed the desirable trait of staying on task. I have a photograph showing Ron and Jon painting the front steps while a pair of neighbors and my sisters are painting the lattice. I recognized the date of this painting party as August 17, 1963. Dad makes reference to this event in his diary. It was the same day Dad and Mom s hosted their second annual cocktail party. Ron and Jon came to work while I was at summer school near Lake Chocorua, New Hampshire. I fell victim to the sophomore slump, and consequently needed to make up a couple of courses in a six week session at the High House venue. When I returned, I learned Jon had taken on the assignment of painting the tower by default. I asked Ron, Why aren t you doing some of the tower painting too? I m tending the ropes for the boson chair and when Jon drops a brush like he did yesterday, I lower a new brush to him. He also sends the empty paint can up to me when he needs a refill. Couldn t you get the job done quicker if you both painted? I asked. Probably, but I developed a overwhelming fear of heights after I fell thirty feet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Palestine and Israel Essay Palestine and Israel Our views of world conflicts such as war are influenced by the part of the world in which we live. When exploring media coverage of discord, it is important to think about where the author is from and how it has influenced the way he/she has portrayed disharmony. Reports on a world conflict can express extremely different views depending on the social values and understandings of the writers. One must read articles that address the issue of war with cultural relativism by taking into account the local values and historical experiences of the writer. By neglecting this approach, a reader may be persuaded to believe biased and often untrue facts. When researching the war in the Middle East, for example, I found ... Three days later a young Palestinian picked up a stone from the ground and threw it at an Israeli patrol. His friends followed this act and soon hundreds were throwing stones. Palestinian intellectuals interpreted this action as an attempt of their youth to shake themselves free from twenty dismal years of Israeli rule. This spontaneous uprising took most by surprise. For generations Israel s domination of Jerusalem had gone largely unchallenged. The fighting continued and the casualties that resulted were high. Most of the 1,300 deaths were Palestinians. In 1993 the international community attempted to find a permanent solution by creating the Oslo agreement. Parts of Jerusalem were officially handed over to the Palestinian self rule authority of Yasser Arafat while the Israelis continued to control other sections. Despite the peace efforts the war is still raging strong today. Palestinian leader, Yasser Arafat, and Israeli Prime Minister, Ehud Barak, are now locked in the worst shoot out in years. Judaism s holiest site and Islam s third holiest site are on the same rock in Jerusalem. Arafat wants possession of al Aqsa mosque that lies in the same place as the Temple Mount, a Jewish holy sight. Various solutions have been proposed but there seems to be no easy way to divide the city between these two warring groups. The stalemate, that newspapers endlessly report, is simply ... • 38. We Screwed Up Analysis The world we live in has made many mistakes, and it s far from perfect. In Chip Wards letter We Screwed Up 2012 to his granddaughter Maddie. Chip tells us that he wants to apologize for his and past generations mistakes of being ignorant. He is sorry for depleting all the natural resources, the species going instinct, the chemical obsession and the increase in advertising he refers to as confusion. Nevertheless, chip is sorry for using up all the natural resources. He says it took millions of years for those layers of carbon goo to form under the earth s crust and we used it all up in a geological instant (ward, 2012). He also talks about how we made everything and anything out of oil. This is very true almost everything we have is made from a machine that eats up oil fast. We need to have faith that our generation or that our next generations will be able to develop renewable resources by the time these natural resources expire. Our generations have come up with some amazing things. Who knows what s ahead in the future, but whatever it is, it will be amazing. Chip even goes on to say we thought we were pretty smart cause we walked a man on the moon (ward, 2012). It seems he has failed to realize this same ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 39. Is William Wordsworth s Lines Composed A Few Miles Above... William Wordsworth s lyrical ballad, Lines Composed a Few Miles above Tintern Abbey, illustrates the connection between the speaker and an Abbey he visits frequently in his memory. Wordsworth s ballad takes place during the Industrial Revolution, a time in which the speaker s way of life is drastically changing from the nature rich life he experienced before moving into the city. The Abbey is the one place that the speaker is able to relive his memories prior to his city life. Therefore, the speaker finds himself reminiscing on his memory of the Abbey as a way to remember this significant chapter in his life. When the speaker thinks of the his memory of looking down at the Abbey, or what he describes as beauteous forms, he is reminded of his former lifestyle. His memory makes it easy to compare life before to his life now. But oft, in lonely rooms, and mid the din Of towns and cities, I have owed to them In hours of weariness, sensations sweet, Felt in the blood, and felt along the heart; And passing even into my purer mind, With tranquil restoration (Wordsworth 25 30). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Living in the city during the Industrial Revolution is emotionally draining, lonely, and strays from the natural world; it is the direct opposite of the relaxed past the speaker lived. In this quote, the words blood , heart , and mind stand for his origins, his roots, and the person he was before. Going back to the Abbey triggers his old mindset, which is why he thinks of it when he has a hard day in the city. This sparks sensations deep inside him, leading him to recall his core values, and he remembers what his life was like before.
