Can Corrections Heal?
Reducing Recidivism and Increasing Public Safety in Virginia
Written By: Scott Richeson
Summary Article One
In 2010, the Virginia Department of Corrections (VDOC) began thoroughly investigating its security
measures, programs, human resources and their combined effort in reducing recidivism. VDOC
started to look within the system, and try to make changes internally, wanting to reconstruct the entire
system, making it the main focus of VDOC. Starting with the Article of Robert Martinson s 1974

prison system, psychologists had little hard data to contribute, but in the last few years the importance
of child abuse, poverty, early exposure to substance abuse and other risk factors for criminal behavior.
The findings suggest that individual centered approaches to crime prevention need to be
complemented by community based approaches with programs provided. Researchers have also found
that the pessimistic nothing works attitude toward rehabilitation that helped justify punitive prison
policies in the 1970s was overstated. When properly implemented, work programs, education and
psychotherapy can ease prisoners transitions to the free world. Finally, researchers have demonstrated
the power of the prison environment to shape behavior, often to the detriment of both prisoners and
prison workers. The Stanford Prison Experiment, which Haney co authored in 1973 with Stanford
University psychologist and APA Past president Philip G. Zimbardo, PhD, is one example. It showed
that psychologically healthy individuals could become sadistic or depressed when placed in a prison

Functional Analysis Of Present Trade Compliance Process Essay
4. Functional Analysis of Present Trade Compliance Process Study of the Supply Chain Risk
associated to Trade Compliance. The functional analysis is analyzing the function of the business
process, a function is defined by author Modell as a series of relative activities, involving more than
one entities, performed for the direct or indirect, purpose of fulfilling one or more mission or
objectives of the firm . Modell also explains that a function should have following characteristics like
i. Identifiable ii. Definable in terms of responsibility iii. Definable in terms of activity iv. Definable in
terms of accountability The function also has the freedom to be any part of the business process, it can
be a major control process, it can contain more sub functions, can be performed in multiple or single
area, can be performed by individual or a group of people and can have dependent or independent
activities. A business function has two main categories based on the level where it s acting business
and administrative, support or overhead. The business category is where the activities which are
directly involved in producing the product or providing services or which generate the revenue to the
firm are classified. The operational functions which come under the business are called as the line
functions. Administrative, support functions are one which are carried out for the day today wellbeing
and the firm as legal entity. The functional analysis puts forward the

Competitive Forces Confronting Under Armour, Nike, And The...
1. How strong are the competitive forces confronting Under Armour, Nike, and The Adidas Group?
Do a five forces analysis to support your answer.
In using Porter s five force analysis, we can discover how strong the competitive forces are within the
sports apparel and footwear industry. The five force analysis involves; rival sellers, threat of new
entrants, substitute products, supplier bargaining power and buyer bargaining power, which we will
explore to determine the attractiveness and intensity of competition within this market.
Competitors in the industry can wreak havoc on the bottom line for a company. With rivals, a price
competition usually ensues, which benefits the customers but hurts the competing businesses that
share a common strategy. In reviewing rival sellers, many competitors exist within the sports apparel
and footwear industry, but most of them are unable to compete with the industry giants, Nike and
Adidas. They are well seated in the industry and their sales reveal this ultimate strength, however,
Under Armour is putting pressure on these mammoths. In 2015, global sales of sports clothing and
footwear equated to $250 billion, of which Nike grabbed $30.6 billion, Adidas held in its grasp $18.8
billion and Under Armour had a much smaller piece of the pie, at $3.9 billion globally. In reviewing
these numbers, it looks like Under Armour is really subpar to the industry giants, but this is not
exactly the case. Under Armour in the past couple of

Cultural Destruction Of Slavery In The Middle East And Africa
Two hundred and sixty seven years ago began a time of innovation and invention, as well as the
adoption of social theories which brought about change that is seen in the footings of nearly every
society today. However, even in times of human advancement which seemed to be for the better,
devastating consequences were still seen across the world, particularly in the Middle East and Africa.
Hidden in the shadows of history is a dark reality that resulted from advancements made by man; a
reality of slavery, both in the restriction of freedoms as well as economic entrapment, and a reality
with the blind justification for cultural destruction, using internal strife of developing nations as a
weapon in and of itself. Between the 1750 s and the 1910 s there was a plethora of historically
monumental events, as well as technological, and societal advancements that made the second ...

fails to touch on how they got their riches from the people of the Gold Coast. When the Europeans
would travel to these areas, they made it seem as if they left the existing cultures alone, letting them
go about their business as usual. Unfortunately, this was not the case, as in most instances the
Europeans pushed their own cultural and religious values on the local populations. Some went to such
an extent as to creating a court system on foreign soil making anyone in European controlled areas

Research Paper On Violence In Sports
Violence is defined as the use of excessive physical force, which causes or has obvious potential to
cause harm or destruction to an individual. Violence in sports comes in many forms, and divides into
social and cultural factors related to the sport ethic, gender ideology, the dynamics of social class and
race, and the tactics used in sports. Violence in sports has gone too far because sports violence has
become so severe in sports, that players are injured each years. However, in sports some violence has
become entertaining for the fans and fans would begin their own violence around with other fans that
support opposing teams to win. The violence in sports can cause severe casualties from collisions to
concussions that may result in long term mental or physical damage.
There are many casualties of violence and collisions/concussions in professional sports. The first
common type of violence is body contact. The brutal body contact includes physical practices
common in certain sports and accepted by athletes as part of sport participation. Examples of brutal
body contacts in sports are collisions, hits, tackles, blocks, body checks, and other forms of physical
contact that can produce injuries. In the NHL a hockey player on ... Show more content on

Effects of Genetic Discrimination
The new advancements in genetics spark a new revolution in medicine. Genetic information not only
can help us better understand the diseases that plague us, but can also prevent diseases that could
potentially be harmful to us. However America s history of discrimination has taken over this new
revolution also. Despite our revolutionized and civilized culture, America still suffers the cruel grip of
evil that lies behind many legal documents and contracts. Genetic Discrimination is when people are
treated differently by their employer or insurance company because they have or are perceived to have
a gene mutation that causes or increases the risk of an inherited disorder. Although insurance
companies and many employers are looking out for their companies genetically discriminating against
clients or employees promotes the public s weariness about the revolutionized genetic tests and also
discourages further medical research.
Although science of genetics still has to be improved to able to accurately predict genetic conditions,
the information it provides can be a good indicator of future illnesses. This helps psychologically
prepare and receive genetic counseling (Amy) and prepare for any surgery that may be required to
prevent the disease. This new invention has opened up amazing possibilities and should be used in
order to better our health. The small group of people who aren t afraid of the possible consequences

A Research Study On Restless Legs Syndrome
1. Describe the phenotype that is being studied in this analysis and the specific prior evidence that
suggests that any further work will reveal a genetic factor. Restless legs syndrome is a condition
characterized by four general criteria. i. Impulsiveness to move limbs regardless or paresthesia ii.
Subjects experience worsening symptoms at rest iii. Partial relief of symptoms associated with
movement iv. Symptoms tend to worsen in the evening Although the exact cause is unknown, this
study illustrates a positive correlation derived from pathology studies of reduced intracellular iron
stores and familial history upwards of 65% denoting possible inheritance of genetic attributes.
Previous studies show that RLS symptoms may improve with dopaminergic medication suggesting a
possible mechanism pertaining to the dopaminergic system. 2. Why did this study examine ONLY
people from North America in conducting this specific linkage analysis? Why not other populations?
Baylor College of Medicine ran this study to examine multiplex RLS presence in 15 separate families.
Since the goal is to examine heritable factors, this study required willing and related participants,
which happened to be 453 subjects accessioned at the Movement Disorders Clinic by Baylor in Texas.
Furthermore, the introduction claims that the RLS phenomena is more prevalent in populations of
European ancestry compared to Asians and Africans. Thus, these studies are specifically for families

The Role Of Periodontitis As A Risk Factor For Systemic...
Introduction
In this research paper, I will be writing about Periodontitis as a risk factor for Systemic Diseases. It
has been known that some systemic diseases alter the presentation and progression of periodontal
disease. Evidence suggests that periodontal disease may play a role as a risk factor in developing and
management of a serious systemic disease. Periodontal infections have been implicated in
cardiovascular disease, preterm and low birth weight infants, and bacterial pneumonia. In addition, it
appears to be more difficult to control non insulin dependent diabetes in patients with severe
periodontitis. The exact mechanisms of these interrelationships have not been determined, our
understanding of these increases in risk is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Poor periodontal health is a factor known to precede many heart attacks, and specific pathogens are
associated with coronary heart disease. Oral Manifestations
Mucosal ulceration, dental disease and other tooth abnormalities, oral soft tissue tumors, periodontal
disease, bone pathology, and orofacial pain may be directly related to or confounded by underlying
systemic disease. Numerous orofacial signs and symptoms are associated with systemic disease. The
most serious problems of concern to dental professionals include caries, oral ulcers, mucosal erythema
and sloughing, gingival bleeding and hypertrophy, soft tissue exophytic masses, dry mouth, facial
pain, movement disorders, tooth abnormalities, abnormal dental wear, tooth/mucosal discoloration,
developmental and bone pathology. ( Burgess, 2017) Once diagnosed, most periodontal diseases can
be treated successfully. The therapeutic goals in periodontal disease are: first, to alter or eliminate the
origin of the microbes as well as contributing risk factors, thereby preventing the progression of the
disease and preserving the healthy state of the periodontium. Second, the recurrence of periodontitis
must be prevented. Finally, in severe cases, regeneration of the periodontal attachments must be
attempted. The first

Metaphysical Realm Of Garbage
The Metaphysical Realm of Garbage My volunteer experience at Howling Timbers included cleaning
and preparing meals for the animals using expired produce donated from local grocery stores. My
work started with sorting the new shipments of goods into categories and rotating them with the old,
molding fruits and vegetables that would get used in the evening. During meal preparation, I cut off
the fuzzy, moldy, slimy, and decomposing parts of the fruit and vegetables and put the salvageable
portions into food bins for the horses, pigs, donkeys and sugar gliders, the scraps into a compost pile. I
asked Brenda if larger corporations gave Howling Timbers their expired produce and learned that the
food donations at Howling Timbers come from local grocery stores. Brenda explains to the managers
at these larger grocers that the food they receive is only for animal consumption. Still, they deny her
the food and dispose of their expired goods in the dumpster out of sight, out of mind. Slavoj Zizek
says in Examined Life that Part of our daily perception of reality is that this [shit/garbage] disappears
from our world. When you go to the toilet, shit disappears. You flush it. Of course, rationally you
know it s there in canalization and so on, but at a certain level of your most elementary experience, it
disappears from your world (Zizek, 2008). In a metaphorical sense, thoughts are like garbage.

Plagues In The Book Of Exodus
The book of exodus speaks about slavery of the Israelite by the Egyptians and how God uses Moses to
release them out of captivity. The Israelite was in slavery for a number of years before they were

the strength that these babies will have when they become men. God send a number of plagues on the
Egyptians before he finally released them. The most interesting part of the plagues on the Egyptians
was that God harden Pharaohs heart through the plagues that his people faced. Pharoah was willing to
let the people of Isreal go but God harden his heart. Why? With all the plagues that the Egyptians
faced Pharoah was willing to let the isrealites

The Federal Reserve ( Investopedia ) Essay
In 1913, the United States Congress created the world s most powerful monetary system, called the
Federal Reserve (Investopedia). It involves one central agency and twelve regional Federal Reserve
Banks that are accountable for their designated areas in the United States (Investopedia). Its primary
purpose was to establish a secure, malleable, and a solid financial system which was to prevent
financial devastation during times of crisis (Investopedia). More specifically, prior to the creation of
the Federal Reserve Bank, the United States had bouts of crisis that created panic among the citizens.
In utter terror, people would withdraw their funds from their banks causing a domino effect of
financial institutions being pushed out of business due to a deficiency of money (stlouisfed).
Therefore, the Federal Reserve Act was endorsed as a resolution to crisis periods, providing a money
supply that would balance the economy, and introduce Federal Reserve Notes as a form of new
currency (stlouisfed). In essence, the Federal Reserve became fully responsible for developing a
comprehensive banking system that would allow for a strong economy. Therefore, one must
understand the structure, the function, and the future of the Federal Reserve Bank that continues to
financially secure this great country. First, one must understand the structure of the Federal Reserve

History
Mesopotamian Scientific Developments and Aspects The Mesopotamians pioneered several modern
day scientific principles and tools and contributed greatly to the development of future civilizations.
(3) The Mesopotamians lived in what is in and near modern day Saudi Arabia between the rivers
Tigris and Euphrates. This is what lead to their name, as Mesopotamian means between two rivers in
greek. Mesopotamia was a land of many different city states and cultures unified for the advancement
of all in Mesopotamia. These cultural differences run very deep within the different city states of
Mesopotamia, and these differences contributed heavily to the Mesopotamians scientific advances and
ironically, lead to their actual unification as a single culture and civilization.(3) (2) (5) One of the most
important developments that lead into this was the development of story telling and writing in ancient
Mesopotamia. Writing in ancient Mesopotamia came about around 4000 B.C. and began to develop
into a major cultural aspect in Mesopotamia via the development of many stories and records. This
writing was imprinted on clay tablets and other clay based constructs throughout the existence of the
civilization. Thousands of tablets and other Mesopotamian writings were made through chiseling or
rolling shapes and hieroglyphs onto the clay tablets. Many of these tablets have been discovered in
relatively good condition, allowing them to be translated and

Effective reward management is critical to organisational performance
Being rewarded and recognised for their work or contribution is what keeps an employee motivated to
work towards achieving the organisational as well as personal goals. When the employees is
motivated by rewards, they will have job satisfaction consequently increasing the productivity of the
organisation. It necessitates the need of managers to pay more attention in understanding their

Forrest (as cited in Donovan, 2008) says that before putting any motivation programme together, an
employer should profile the target audience in terms of age, gender interests and should also ensure
that the rewards it offers will appeal to any individual.
As cited in Zhou, Zhang Montoro Sa ́nchez (2011) reward management is a key function in HRM
systems in modern enterprises, playing an important role in attracting, retaining and motivating
employees (Milkovich and Newman, 2004). Furthermore, Schuler and Jackson (as cited in Esteves
Caetano, 2010) state that the focal point of success of companies today is centered on the effective use
of human resources.
In today s knowledge based economy, innovation has become the principal source of competitive
advantages in global business; the success of firms now depends more on their intelligence capability
such as employee creativity than traditional material assets (Amabile et al., as cited in Zhou, Zhang
Montoro Sa ́nchez, 2011). The creative capability of individual and collective knowledge workers is
the fuel that powers innovation in firms. While creativity leads to the production of new and useful
ideas in any domain, innovation is the successful implementation of those creative ideas within an
organisation (McLean, as cited in Zhou, Zhang Montoro Sa ́nchez 2011). In highly dynamic business

One Who Flew The Cuckoo s Nest Literary Analysis
One s awareness of their identity adds to the way they portray themselves and how their physique
could play a role in their identity. In the novel, One Who Flew The Cuckoo s Nest by Ken Kesey;
Chief Bromden is the narrator of the story and for most of the book, he s just an observer. He watches
how McMurphy interacts with the men, what McMurphy is trying to do, and how the staff reacts.
Chief pretends to be deaf and unable to speak; people talk freely around him allowing him to learn
their secrets. The Chief achieves this by acting deaf if I wanted to hear at all. Although he appears
powerless, he actually has a lot of power because of all the knowledge he s gained through
observation and listening in on conversations. Ken Kesey s utilization of Bromden s point of view

Essay On Bayesian Analysis
2.1 Bayesian Analysis
Before making research on Bayesian analysis we need to know more about Bayes theorem, which is
the basis of the Bayesian analysis approach. For the first of all, we need to know who the founder of
this theorem is. Thomas Bayes who is the mathematician is the person who first lodged Bayes
theorem. In his article published in 1763, Bayes introduce a version of the equation of probability
which is now known as Bayes theorem. When the first paper was published, there is little expectation
that simple equation can solve many problems in the theory of chance. But after a hundred years later,
Bayes theorem had become an important and currently as a basis for Bayesian statistical inference. To
understand the Bayes theorem, we must first understand the conditional probability.
Bayesian analysis facilitates the use of new information to update (modify) initial probability
estimates. It is also can use historical probabilities to revise the probability estimates associated with a
new project or process. It is a powerful risk assessment and management tool. Bayesian analysis
generally requires that each component of a project or process have an associated estimated
probability (chance of happening).
It is primarily used to analyze the probabilities associated with the variables that compromise any
process or project. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

What Does A Pair Of Silk Stockings Mean
In A Pair of Silk Stockings by Kate Chopin, the protagonist, Mrs. Sommers, finds herself in a dilemma
when she is given the responsibility of fifteen dollars and loses her responsibility as a mother as she
spends the the money on herself which showcases the need for self reliance. Being her own
antagonist, Mrs. Sommers is torn between the two roles she has in her life, being her own person and
being a mother. In the beginning of the story we see Mrs. Sommers as a responsible mother that puts
the needs of her children before herself that she forgets to eat lunch. Between getting the children fed
and the place righted, and preparing herself for the shopping bout, she had actually forgotten to eat
any luncheon at all! (pg.31) Mrs. Sommers

Hindu Religions Of The Indus River Valley Civilization
There are many religions in India that share common similarities and differences. However, there are
two religions in Northern India that stand out from them all. There are many ways to compare the
similarities and differences between the Hindu and Buddhist religions of the Indus River Valley
civilization. Hinduism and Buddhism have their own definition of culture, but they are alike in several
ways. First, both religions focus on two main things that lead them to a successful life, Dharma and
Karma. For example, Dharma is what you do in your life; Dharma affects your Karma, the
consequence of your actions. To illustrate, people who believe in Hinduism or Buddhism believe that
if you have good Dharma in your life, then you will have good ... Show more content on

In the first place, the Hindus believe in a caste system made of social classes, whereas Buddhism does
not have a caste system, but rather practice peace. The Hindus caste system provides a way to

Buddhists strive to achieve peace by making sure everything is equal parts of a whole . Additionally,
The Hindu religion has no single founder. On the other hand, an Indian prince named Siddhartha
Gautama founded Buddhism. In further detail, Hinduism was not founded by anyone particular, but
instead Hinduism is a combination of beliefs of the early Indus Valley peoples and Aryans. On the
contrary, Buddhism was founded by Siddhartha Gautama, whose main purpose was to erase of
suffering from the world. Finally, the Buddhism religion contains no sacred literature, as the Hindu
religion was built of three major scared texts. The Hindu s three sacred texts include the Vedas,
Ramayana, and the Mahabharata. However, the Buddhists have no sacred text, but followers of

Marcus Going To The Theater Play Analysis
Theater performances in antiquity were typically dedicated to a pagan god or goddess, and the plays
often ran as part of larger public religious festivals. Scenes portraying blatant immorality were
commonplace. All this proved rather troubling to the early church. Christian leaders, such as
Tertullian, spoke out in opposition to the idea of believers going to the theater: Why is it right to look
on what it is disgraceful to do? How is it that the things which defile a man in going out of his mouth,
are not regarded as doing so when they go in at this eyes and ears when eyes and ears are the
immediate attendants of the spirit? You have the theater forbidden, then, in the forbidding of
immodesty. Thus, when an actor converted to Christ in third century ... Show more content on

Our new convert now faced an economic dilemma, however, since he was no longer gainfully
employed. So, instead of acting, Marcus opened an acting school. This apparently created quite a stir
among Marcus s fellow Christians, and the surviving letters exchanged by his pastor and the church s
bishop paint a portrait of the church truly living out its strong group family values. Marcus s pastor,
Eucratius, naturally wondered how it could be acceptable for Marcus to teach others what he himself
was forbidden to do. Yet Marcus had already made a tremendous sacrifice to follow Jesus. So
Eucratius wrote to his spiritual mentor, Cyprian of Carthage, to ask whether such a man ought to
remain in communion with us. Cyprian s reaction to Marcus was unequivocal: It is not in keeping with
the reverence due to the majesty of God and with the observance of the gospel teachings for the honor
and respect of the church to be polluted by contamination at once so degraded and so scandalous. No
compromise. No drama teaching. Marcus must either leave the church or quit his job again. Marcus s
story has the strong group, surrogate family [character] written all over it. It is Cyprian s conviction
that the honor and respect of the church must take priority over Marcus and his acting academy.
Marcus, on his part, finds himself answering to the church for his whole vocational and financial

Persuasive Letter For Tap Water In Schools
Dear Members of the Downey Unified School District School Board,
We value and admire your provision of drinking water for all of our scholars at DUSD schools. Thank
you for allowing us to choose among installing drinking fountains that consist of school tap water,
placing water dispensers that use bottled water, and supplying individual water bottles. I recommend
that you install drinking fountains because tap water holds dominant affordability and environmental
responsibility in differentiation to the other selections.
Firstly, I recommend that you supply drinking fountains with tap water because they possess an
affordable characteristic in comparison to the other options. For instance, a twenty four pack of water
bottles costs an average price of three dollars. Once you buy seventy cases, the cost approximates to
two hundred ten dollars. For a cooler filled with bottled water, each gallon of water costs roughly one
dollar. If the school purchases seventy cases, it would cost nearly seventy dollars. These amounts of
water, individually or combined, lack providing the school with enough water for even one day.
However, the requirement for drinking fountains that use tap water is to finance money for the water
bill. Further, Annie Leonard ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I can conclude this because plastic bottles cause environmental difficulties and pollution. In addition,
the water from water coolers would be poured into plastic or paper cups, piling up the trash bins with
waste, and producing just as much pollution as the water bottles. Cups or bottles hold an unnecessary
position with drinking fountains. I can confirm this because Annie Leonard explained the
decomposition situation. She claimed, Eighty percent [of plastic bottles from bottled water] end up in
landfills, ...or...are burned, releasing toxic pollution. If we install drinking fountains, then the campus
pollution levels will

Concrete Filled Tubular ( Cft ) Column
The steel tube in a concrete filled tubular (CFT) column acts as both lateral and longitudinal
reinforcement, and is thus subjected to hoop tension and biaxial stresses of longitudinal compression.
At the same time, concrete is tri axially stressed. Concrete filled tubular (CFT) column has become
popular as structural member in buildings due to their excellent performance for structural
characteristics, which include high ductility, stiffness, and high strength. The advantages of the
Concrete filled tubular (CFT) column over other composite members are that the filled in concrete
prolongs local buckling of the steel tube wall, the steel tube provides formwork for the concrete, the
tube prevents excessive concrete spalling and composite columns add more stiffness to a frame
compared to old style steel frame construction. According to past study on the concentric compression
behavior of Concrete filled tubular (CFT) columns, the ultimate axial strength of Concrete filled
tubular (CFT) columns is largely affected by the thickness of the steel tube and the shape of its cross
section Although confining effect in square columns show a small increase in axial strength due to
triaxial effects, although it has large wall thicknesses. On the other hand, the axial load and
deformation behavior of columns is remarkably affected by the cross sectional shape, diameter/width
to thickness ratio (D/t) of the steel tube, and the strength of the filled concrete.

Introduction
Road Traffic Accidents (RTAs) are becoming an increasing cause of preventable death and morbidity
across the globe including in India. It is estimated that if preventable measures are not taken ,it will be
the fifth leading cause of death by 2030. Ninety percentage of the fatalities related to RTAs occur in
Lower and Middle Income Countries (LMIC) which has only around 48% o world s vehicles. In India,
almost 400,000 RTAs occur in an year resulting in approximately 85,000 deaths and 150,000 severe
injuries. Overall,RTAs are predicted to be the third largest contributor of global burden of disease by
2020.
The trend in the state of Kerala is no different (Fig 1). According to Report on Medical Certification

Separation of Mixtures
Purpose
A mixture is a blend of at least two types of matter. The two types of mixtures are heterogeneous and
homogeneous. A heterogeneous mixture is a mixture that does not appear the same throughout. A
homogeneous mixture is a mixture that is identical everywhere. A mixture could be composed of
elements and compounds; both are pure substances. A compound is when multiple elements are put
together, like water. Everything has chemical and physical characteristics and these qualities help
scientists classify matter.

However, this plan associated with several problems which brought down the profit and reputation of
the Safelite and can be analyse through the behavioral evaluation methods and the comparative

internal completion, or in the other words, inability to differentiate between self and other.
Customer satisfaction is a key to any business, because happy customers can lead to more sales and
profit. After the PPP introduced by the Safelite, mangers pushed their technicians to do more jobs and
work faster. The technicians themselves were also work faster too, because they were received higher
pay. The management team at Safelite were asked to install a certain number of glass units per day
which caused stores versus each other. These problems as a whole bring down the customer
satisfaction, because technicians tried to do installation as quickly as possible, so this made a quality
problem. For instance, windshields were not properly installed. Although other technicians were
sending to do re installation of the same job with no pay which caused unhappy technician but
customers were unhappy because they should reschedule their time for the same job. In other cases,
technicians did not vacuum up the broken glass in customer s car, so they can rush to the next job.

Essay On The Frog And The Toad
I found excellence and flaws in the acting, technical elements, and even the playwright of the play The
Frog and the Toad. I was pleased with the message of the play and the overall performance of actors.
However, there were a few things that I felt could be improved on in future plays.
The performance of the snail in The Frog and the Toad play was the one I liked the most because the
actor was very convincing and seemed to suit his character perfectly. The snail was convincing
because he walked very slowly and had a squeaky voice, which are some characteristics that a snail
would be expected to have. He spoke and sang very clearly, which the voice he played the snail part in
fit the character very well. He connected with the audience ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

By the same token, I really liked how the costumes of Turtle and Snail were also distinct and had
unique characteristics of their real nature. For example, Turtle s costume included a large backpack on
the back of the actor, which to the audience, was perceived as a large shell. Snail s unique costume
included a rolled up sleeping bag strapped on his back, which to the audience, was perceived as a snail
shell.
However, some technical elements that I didn t like was the dark blue long fabric and the blue see
through long fabric used in the set when Frog and Toad are swimming in the pond and when Toad
looks for Frog on and island. These fabrics and the way they are handled look very tacky and poor
quality. It would have made it better if the fabric was not see through and if the people behind the
bushes or rocks that were moving the fabric, to make it appear as if the water were moving, moved the
long fabrics more fluently, and not in a jerky manner.
The set was changed very effectively throughout the play. I liked how every time the curtains were put
down, there was a either a solo or miniature performance in the front or just music to distract the
audience for a quick second while the set was being rearranged. I felt like that helped the play flow
because it didn t stop at every scene, distract the audience, and unengage them from the play. I liked

Cultural Conflict In America
A current cultural conflict taking place in America today is religious. Many Americans discriminate
against the Islamic faith and there have been countless acts of mistreatment of Muslims in the work
place, at school, in public, and in the media. Negative feelings and acts toward Muslims have become
so prevalent that in 1991 the Runnymede Trust Report coined a term for it. The report defined the
unfounded hostility toward Muslims, and therefore fear or dislike of all or most Muslims as
Islamophobia (Defining Islamophobia ). There has always been some religious cultural conflict with
Muslims in the United States, but since the 9/11 terrorist attacks, conflict has escalated significantly.

Many Muslims are Arab and for that reason many people automatically associate Arab, no matter what
their religion, with Islam and violence. Racism is the belief that one racial group is innately superior to
another (Samovar 238). This belief can be expressed in a few different ways. Intense racism is the
belief that all members of a group are inferior (M. Hu, personal communications, November 18th,
2015). Racism can also be symbolic, which entails the belief that the out group interferes with the
culture. This is a worry that some Americans have because they irrationally fear that Muslims are
trying to change the country. Tokenism is a third type of expressing racism and is when people do not
admit that they are racist and even try to act evenly. The final expression of racism is termed arm s
length and is when an individual is nice to the other group of people in some setting, but not others.
Tokenism and arms length racism are probably the most frequently seen in the United States. Many
Americans try to act like that do not view Muslims differently but when you observe their interacts or
hear them speak about Muslims their beliefs tend to be discriminatory or prejudice. There are a few
ways to avoid racism. The first is to be honest with to and analyze your thoughts and belief with a
critical eye to determine if you hold any racist views (Samovar 239).

The purpose of this research is to analyze the leadership style of the well known businesswoman who
shattered the glass ceiling, Martha Stewart. Ms. Stewart is a very successful businesswoman whose
leadership style has contributed to her success and failures. As child, certain values were instilled in
Ms. Stewart that has been evident in the way she conducts business today. There are so many different
leadership styles and it is important that leaders analyze the pros and cons of each. As a result, leaders
are able to distinguish which is most effective for the type of team members he or she will be
responsible for.
Ms. Stewart s autocratic leadership is not favored by her team members and associates. This research
will analyze the effects of an autocratic leadership style on the organization as a whole and the team
members themselves. There is a reason why most are not too fond of the autocratic leadership style. In
today s world, most employees are not receptive to an autocratic leadership style. The theories that are
discussed are based on what motivates team members. Are team members self motivated? Do team
members dislike working? Is little direction needed? In order to ensure results, do team members have
to be enticed? The answers to these questions determine what type of behavior the leader should
possess in order to effectively lead his or her team members.
Martha Stewart is known for many things, including a convicted felon. However, there is no question

The Strength of an Electromagnet Essay
The Strength of an Electromagnet
Introduction:
[IMAGE]An electric current flowing through a wire produces a magnetic field. Coiling the wire
produces a stronger magnetic field. Coiling it around a soft iron core increases the strength effect;
raising the current or the number of coils increases it further.
I am going to investigate the raising of the current and how it affects an electromagnet.
I think the electromagnet will produce a stronger magnetic filed and pick up more iron fillings.
Aim:
To investigate factors which affect the strength of the electromagnet and make the strongest
electromagnet possible.

The higher the voltage means the size of current will increase too. The stronger the magnetic field, the
more filings will be attracted by the electromagnet. When the coils will be evenly spread across the
rod, the current across the rod and the magnetic field will be even.
Method:
The apparatus will be set up to form a circuit, as below:
I will use an iron rod and make (5) coils around the rod with a piece of wire. They will be spread as
evenly as possible across the rod. The ends of the wire will then be connected to the circuit with
crocodile clips. The voltage on the power pack will be turned onto 0.5 amps. As this is the ampere
reading from the power pack, it may not be exactly 0.5A, which is why a voltmeter has been added so
the actual number of amps could be measured each time. This will also be written in the results table.
When the current is switched on, I will hold the rod from one end and put the other end into a beaker
full of iron filings, allowing it to pick up as many filings as possible. The mass of the nails picked up
will be weighed on an electronic scale and recorded. This will be repeated 2 times so a precise average
can be taken. The same experiment will be carried out, increasing the voltage by 0.5 amps each time,
up to 7 amps. All of these will be written to 1 decimal point.

Dual color multi responsive rhodamine derivative and its photochromic enhancement behavior in
polyurethane coating Abstract In this study, a rhodamine derivative with dual color change (blue green
to orange) and multi response (light, acid gas and force) was synthesized. In addition, the
photochromic enhancement behavior of rhodamine derivative Rh PY in polyurethane (PU ) coating
matrix was explored. By complexing PU coating with Rh PY, the open form lifetime of RH PY
extended from 3 days to more than 1 month. To the best of our knowledge, this is the longest open
form lifetime of rhodamine derivatives reported so far. Rhodamine with long open form lifetime has
great potential in developing outstanding photochromic materials. This method is simple and
inexpensive , and non covalent preparation suits with more rhodamine derivatives. This study opens
an avenue to promote the practical applications of photochromic rhodamine derivatives. 1.

Beloved Poet, Shel Silverstein
Do you remember reading comical poetry such as The Giving Tree during your childhood? Its author,
Shel Silverstein, was one of the most recognizable children s poets and poetry icons that has ever
lived. He holds a household name due to the fact that despite his past he is able to help form a future
in language, poetry, and the arts for the innovators of tomorrow. Silverstein s works captured the
essence of a person s childhood and changed poetry and children s literature forever.
Sheldon Allan Silverstein was not always the literature icon he quickly became in the mid 20th
century. Born on September 25, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois during the Great Depression. He was not a
very sociable child. His hobbies included drawing cartoons and writing. As a result, his professional
drawing and writing career began with cartooning and writing for Playboy Magazine, in 1952. He was
also not popular with girls during his teenage year, which motivated him to write more mature poetry
in the future about love. Silverstein wanted to reach out to all age groups and express that his talent
was not only used for the entertainment of children, but for everyone. Silverstein didn t write to
impress others ... he did hope that people no matter what age, would find something to identify... and
experience a personal sense of discovery . in his poetry (Shel Silverstein 1999). Silverstein was

Alternative strategies can also be used by netting off the amount or using futures however for that
management s time will be an issue. THE ARGENTINEAN PESO: The case with the Argentinean
subsidiary is not similar to the first one. The Argentinean government is facing significant financial
problems which throws doubts on its default. The country has very poor economic situation with no
reforms and recent devaluation of currency has caused the managers to think over the strategy that
should be followed. The manager did perform some hedging calculation though however hedging is
used where there is risk in the short term and where risk cannot be transferred. In this case where we
can easily see that local currency is devaluing with great pace we should look for a long term strategy.
Hedging strategy of GM should not be altered in this regard however by other options we can find a
solution. In such situations where government is facing hard times financially, government puts
restriction on the level of remittance to the parent company. There is a significant risk involved with
this investment and if there are any chances of this restriction then company should assess whether it
is worthwhile to stay in operations there as it may cause severe problems for a company if it can t
withdraw its investments. Other options to deal with that could be

The Discovery Of The Roller Coaster
Several hundred years ago, a man near St. Petersburg, Russia, built a structure that has defined
amusement worldwide. What started as a 70 foot tall wooden structure with steps leading up to a large
slide covered with ice has grown into what we now know as the death defying, thrill inducing, modern
day roller coaster. The people who enjoyed the early Russian form of the roller coaster led the way for
the French inventors to create their own version, which included waxed slides instead of ice covered
slides because of the difference in temperature between the frigid Russia and more temperate France.
There is great debate about which country, Russia or France, first invented the wheeled coaster, but the
fact remains that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This first coaster, designed by LaMarcus A. Thompson, was an instant success. Thompson, who
invented many diverse things from the time he was a child, is now known as the Father of the Roller
Coaster . His roller coaster made over $600 per day the summer it opened, which is amazing
considering that Thompson only charged a nickel per ride. After Thompson got things rolling , many
other inventors and investors saw the profit in roller coasters and contributed to what is now known as
the Golden Age of Roller Coasters, the 1920s. During this time, nearly 2,000 coasters opened up
around the country, and even into Canada. From the New York Rye Beach Aeroplane to the Crystal
Beach Cyclone in Canada, roller coasters had truly taken off. Unfortunately for roller coaster
enthusiasts, though, the economic and social changes of the 1940s, 50s, and 60s brought a sharp
decline in the number of people with disposable income enough to attend amusement parks and ride
roller coasters. As a result, few new ones were built and many were torn down during this time period.
Very few of the Golden Age coasters are still in use today. Luckily, one roller coaster reversed this
downward slump and raced into what is now the modern age of roller coasters. Kings Island, an
amusement park near Cincinnati, Ohio, introduced their new coaster, The

Potential Jurors In Court Cases
The Constitution guarantees us a right to a trial by a jury in serious criminal hearings. The jury job is
to weed out the facts by reviewing the evidence and deliberating on a verdict based on an agreement
of three fourths or five sixths of the jurors (How Are Potential Jurors Selected, 2016), (How Courts
Work, 2016).
Jurors selected in two phases. The first phase the jurors are randomly selected. The state or federal
district will randomly select names from a list of registered voters, a list of people who hold driver s
licenses in the state, or a list of people receiving unemployment benefits from the state (How Are
Potential Jurors Selected, 2016). After your name is selected off of the list you will receive
notification through the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Voir dire is when the court and the attorneys select 12 people as jurors for the case. The process for
voir dire differs from state to state, and even from judge to judge on how many jurors they want on the
case (How Are Potential Jurors Selected, 2016). Before the interview of the jurors the judge will make
a brief statement on the case and inquire on any reason why the juror cannot serve on the case (How
Are Potential Jurors Selected, 2016). In addition, alternate jurors are selected due to matter if someone
becomes ill or die during the trial (How Courts Work, 2016). They hear the evidence just like the other
jurors but not able to deliberate until they are a juror for that trial. Jurors are selected based on their
backgrounds and beliefs (How Courts Work, 2016). The juror s interview can be in front of all the
selected jurors or in private. The attorneys can at any time object to a juror being part of the trial.
There are two types of objections such as peremptory challenges and challenges for cause against the
juror (How Are Potential Jurors Selected, 2016). If and when an attorney challenges a juror for cause,
the attorney defense has something to do with the juror s background or knowledge to the case that
would partially be prejudgment towards the case (How Are Potential Jurors Selected, 2016). Let s say,
if there is a police brutality case most likely a police officer will not be selected as a juror in this case.

Belbin Personality Group Reflection Paper
Team work is at the centre of clinical practice in radiography. It is the core structure that allows the
efficient flow of work whilst still providing patient centred care. There must be an understanding that
a team is not merely a group of people working in proximity to each other; but it is a group of people
who use the division of labour and an understanding of each other s role in the team to work in a
rational and proficient manner. This essay will reflect on the team building I participated in and its
correlation to my Belbin personality team roles. I will also explore the importance of this in practice,
in terms of patient centred care and legislation. Using other personality questionnaires, I will consider
Belbin s ability to reflect my own roles and question if another method would be more accurate in
doing this.
In the 1970 s Meredith Belbin devised the Belbin team inventory behavioural test. It was aimed to
assess how an individual behaves and interacts in a team environment before placing these people into
9 categories. A person may be spread across multiple categories not defining them to a single
possibility. Using the Belbin test has been shown to may improve work in a team. One piece of
research used 84 teams to find that forming groups based on Belbin role balance assumption might
enhance group performance (Curseu Meslec, 2015, para 36). This means that having a full range of
team roles in the group and understanding each other s strengths and weaknesses can impact team
performance.
Knowing your own Belbin team role allows you to acknowledge your strengths and weaknesses thus
helping you focus on what you need to do to improve. From doing the personality questionnaire I was
identified as an implementer and a shaper at similar high scores, however the rest of my scores were
evenly spread across the remaining 6 roles. I interpret this as in a group I would fit into the role of
planning and carrying out strategies in a resourceful way, whilst providing drive to the team to keep
the momentum. I may also be able to slot into any missing roles. Belbin (2009) states that
implementers are happy to carry out the less appealing tasks in the team those that other members do
not want to do or

Analytical Procedures
Because analytical procedures are substantive tests, they reduce the extent to which the auditor needs
to perform detailed tests of balances, if the analytical procedure results are favorable. Our audit team
performs analytical procedures for the entire sales and collection cycle, not just accounts receivable.
When we perform analytical procedures for sales, we obtain evidence about both sales and accounts
receivable. We propose the following analytical procedures for Sales and Collections:

Legal Personality Of Salomon V. Samlomon And Co Ltd.
Once a company is formed and incorporated it has perpetual existence meaning it has its own legal
personality. It can enter in to contracts, have its own obligations, it can purchase or rent property, it
can employ people, etc. All these are the responsibility of the company, not the directors or others
involved in the company, however the director have responsibilities to act in the best interest in the
company and its shareholders. If some or all the shareholders of the company die it has no effect on
the company. A company s life is ended by winding up/liqudation. Alternatively a company which
fails to file return annually may be removed by not filing annual returns. Salomon V Samlomon Co
Ltd The Salomon V Salomon Co Ltd was a very important case in company law because it established
that every company has a separate legal personality which can also be referred to as the veil of
incorporation. Mr. Salomon was a leather merchant who for several years operated as a sole trader,
during this time he was moderately successful. He decided he was going to incorporate his
organisation as a limited company under the name Salomon Co Ltd. At the time to do this it was a
requirement that the company have at least seven members as ... Show more content on

I Want To Stay On The Home Front Dbq Essay
During WWI everyone was affected, whether it was the soldier in the battle field coming home with
shell shock, or the children left without a father for a few crucial years, or even a lifetime, or the
wives, mothers and grandmothers left at home to either pick up the financial burden or to continue on
in the best way they knew how without their loved ones. Overall if a person s country was at war then
they were affected and had to make sacrifices of food, gas, and other supplies necessary to fuel the
war effort. Europeans were affected on the home front when women had to go to work, when they
gained a greater sense of nationalism, and also when they had to ration food, and produce as much as
possible. When labor shortages got to the point where women were brought in in order to fill the void,
it signalled a turning point in history. It opened the door for women to stay in the work force even
after the war had ended. The need for workers was severe, to the point where 792,000 women were
added to the industrial workforce in Britain between 1914 and 1918. (Document 1) This is a huge ...

Reducing Recidivism and Increasing Public Safety in Virginia Written By: Scott Richeson Summary Article One In 2010, the Virginia Department of Corrections (VDOC) began thoroughly investigating its security measures, programs, human resources and their combined effort in reducing recidivism. VDOC started to look within the system, and try to make changes internally, wanting to reconstruct the entire system, making it the main focus of VDOC. When properly implemented, work programs, education and psychotherapy can ease prisoners transitions to the free world. Finally, researchers have demonstrated the power of the prison environment to shape behavior, often to the detriment of both prisoners and prison workers. Do a five forces analysis to support your answer. In using Porter s five force analysis, we can discover how strong the competitive forces are within the sports apparel and footwear industry. The five force analysis involves; rival sellers, threat of new entrants, substitute products, supplier bargaining power and buyer bargaining power, which we will explore to determine the attractiveness and intensity of competition within this market. Competitors in the industry can wreak havoc on the bottom line for a company. With rivals, a price competition usually ensues, which benefits the customers but hurts the competing businesses that share a common strategy. In reviewing rival sellers, many competitors exist within the sports apparel and footwear industry, but most of them are unable to compete with the industry giants, Nike and Adidas. They are well seated in the industry and their sales reveal this ultimate strength, however, Under Armour is putting pressure on these mammoths. In 2015, global sales of sports clothing and footwear equated to $250 billion, of which Nike grabbed $30.6 billion, Adidas held in its grasp $18.8 billion and Under Armour had a much smaller piece of the pie, at $3.9 billion globally. In reviewing these numbers, it looks like Under Armour is really subpar to the industry giants, but this is not exactly the case. Under Armour in the past couple of ... Hidden in the shadows of history is a dark reality that resulted from advancements made by man; a reality of slavery, both in the restriction of freedoms as well as economic entrapment, and a reality with the blind justification for cultural destruction, using internal strife of developing nations as a weapon in and of itself. • 9. Effects of Genetic Discrimination The new advancements in genetics spark a new revolution in medicine. Genetic information not only can help us better understand the diseases that plague us, but can also prevent diseases that could potentially be harmful to us. However America s history of discrimination has taken over this new revolution also. Despite our revolutionized and civilized culture, America still suffers the cruel grip of evil that lies behind many legal documents and contracts. Genetic Discrimination is when people are treated differently by their employer or insurance company because they have or are perceived to have a gene mutation that causes or increases the risk of an inherited disorder. Although insurance companies and many employers are looking out for their companies genetically discriminating against clients or employees promotes the public s weariness about the revolutionized genetic tests and also discourages further medical research. Although science of genetics still has to be improved to able to accurately predict genetic conditions, the information it provides can be a good indicator of future illnesses. It has been known that some systemic diseases alter the presentation and progression of periodontal disease. Evidence suggests that periodontal disease may play a role as a risk factor in developing and management of a serious systemic disease. Periodontal infections have been implicated in cardiovascular disease, preterm and low birth weight infants, and bacterial pneumonia. • 12. Metaphysical Realm Of Garbage The Metaphysical Realm of Garbage My volunteer experience at Howling Timbers included cleaning and preparing meals for the animals using expired produce donated from local grocery stores. My work started with sorting the new shipments of goods into categories and rotating them with the old, molding fruits and vegetables that would get used in the evening. During meal preparation, I cut off the fuzzy, moldy, slimy, and decomposing parts of the fruit and vegetables and put the salvageable portions into food bins for the horses, pigs, donkeys and sugar gliders, the scraps into a compost pile. I asked Brenda if larger corporations gave Howling Timbers their expired produce and learned that the food donations at Howling Timbers come from local grocery stores. Brenda explains to the managers at these larger grocers that the food they receive is only for animal consumption. Still, they deny her the food and dispose of their expired goods in the dumpster out of sight, out of mind. It involves one central agency and twelve regional Federal Reserve Banks that are accountable for their designated areas in the United States (Investopedia). Its primary purpose was to establish a secure, malleable, and a solid financial system which was to prevent financial devastation during times of crisis (Investopedia). More specifically, prior to the creation of the Federal Reserve Bank, the United States had bouts of crisis that created panic among the citizens. In utter terror, people would withdraw their funds from their banks causing a domino effect of financial institutions being pushed out of business due to a deficiency of money (stlouisfed). Therefore, the Federal Reserve Act was endorsed as a resolution to crisis periods, providing a money supply that would balance the economy, and introduce Federal Reserve Notes as a form of new currency (stlouisfed). Mesopotamian Scientific Developments And Aspects Sterling 9/24/14 Miss Laura History Mesopotamian Scientific Developments and Aspects The Mesopotamians pioneered several modern day scientific principles and tools and contributed greatly to the development of future civilizations. (3) The Mesopotamians lived in what is in and near modern day Saudi Arabia between the rivers Tigris and Euphrates. This is what lead to their name, as Mesopotamian means between two rivers in greek. Mesopotamia was a land of many different city states and cultures unified for the advancement of all in Mesopotamia. These cultural differences run very deep within the different city states of Mesopotamia, and these differences contributed heavily to the Mesopotamians scientific advances and ironically, lead to their actual unification as a single culture and civilization.(3) (2) (5) One of the most important developments that lead into this was the development of story telling and writing in ancient Mesopotamia. Writing in ancient Mesopotamia came about around 4000 B.C. and began to develop into a major cultural aspect in Mesopotamia via the development of many stories and records. This writing was imprinted on clay tablets and other clay based constructs throughout the existence of the civilization. For the first of all, we need to know who the founder of this theorem is. Thomas Bayes who is the mathematician is the person who first lodged Bayes theorem. In his article published in 1763, Bayes introduce a version of the equation of probability which is now known as Bayes theorem. When the first paper was published, there is little expectation that simple equation can solve many problems in the theory of chance. But after a hundred years later, Bayes theorem had become an important and currently as a basis for Bayesian statistical inference. To understand the Bayes theorem, we must first understand the conditional probability. Bayesian analysis facilitates the use of new information to update (modify) initial probability estimates. It is also can use historical probabilities to revise the probability estimates associated with a new project or process. It is a powerful risk assessment and management tool. Bayesian analysis generally requires that each component of a project or process have an associated estimated probability (chance of happening). What Is The Moral Of The Little Mermaid A Devious Motion Picture The Little Mermaid, directed by John Musker and Ron Clements, appears as an innocent story about a princess mermaid who marries the prince of her dreams, receiving everything she wants with the power of her royalty father, king of the sea. That is the way children see it, but in reticent ways, this film is unsuitable for children. Expectations have been raised for our children contradicting high or low status in class struggles, different beliefs and morals in ideologies, and different languages/cultures in dialect. They are unsuccessful in demonstrating the class struggle in this film by characterizing high status as most important, rather than educating children equality, and the understanding of respect and ... Children should not be learning to develop an animosity or bias on cultures or nationalities, or high or low classes, they should be focusing on the lesson to love everyone equally, and treating every person the same, and with the respect as they deserve. This film portrays an unrealistic realization for kids and it is causing a negative outlook on their own ideologies and views in society. • 25. Marcus Going To The Theater Play Analysis Theater performances in antiquity were typically dedicated to a pagan god or goddess, and the plays often ran as part of larger public religious festivals. Scenes portraying blatant immorality were commonplace. All this proved rather troubling to the early church. Christian leaders, such as Tertullian, spoke out in opposition to the idea of believers going to the theater: Why is it right to look on what it is disgraceful to do? How is it that the things which defile a man in going out of his mouth, are not regarded as doing so when they go in at this eyes and ears when eyes and ears are the immediate attendants of the spirit? Our new convert now faced an economic dilemma, however, since he was no longer gainfully employed. So, instead of acting, Marcus opened an acting school. This apparently created quite a stir among Marcus s fellow Christians, and the surviving letters exchanged by his pastor and the church s bishop paint a portrait of the church truly living out its strong group family values. Marcus s pastor, Eucratius, naturally wondered how it could be acceptable for Marcus to teach others what he himself was forbidden to do. Yet Marcus had already made a tremendous sacrifice to follow Jesus. So Eucratius wrote to his spiritual mentor, Cyprian of Carthage, to ask whether such a man ought to remain in communion with us. Cyprian s reaction to Marcus was unequivocal: It is not in keeping with the reverence due to the majesty of God and with the observance of the gospel teachings for the honor and respect of the church to be polluted by contamination at once so degraded and so scandalous. No compromise. No drama teaching. Marcus must either leave the church or quit his job again. Marcus s story has the strong group, surrogate family [character] written all over it. Persuasive Letter For Tap Water In Schools Dear Members of the Downey Unified School District School Board, We value and admire your provision of drinking water for all of our scholars at DUSD schools. Thank you for allowing us to choose among installing drinking fountains that consist of school tap water, placing water dispensers that use bottled water, and supplying individual water bottles. I recommend that you install drinking fountains because tap water holds dominant affordability and environmental responsibility in differentiation to the other selections. Firstly, I recommend that you supply drinking fountains with tap water because they possess an affordable characteristic in comparison to the other options. For instance, a twenty four pack of water bottles costs an average price of three dollars. Once you buy seventy cases, the cost approximates to two hundred ten dollars. For a cooler filled with bottled water, each gallon of water costs roughly one dollar. If the school purchases seventy cases, it would cost nearly seventy dollars. Concrete Filled Tubular ( Cft ) Column The steel tube in a concrete filled tubular (CFT) column acts as both lateral and longitudinal reinforcement, and is thus subjected to hoop tension and biaxial stresses of longitudinal compression. At the same time, concrete is tri axially stressed. Concrete filled tubular (CFT) column has become popular as structural member in buildings due to their excellent performance for structural characteristics, which include high ductility, stiffness, and high strength. The advantages of the Concrete filled tubular (CFT) column over other composite members are that the filled in concrete prolongs local buckling of the steel tube wall, the steel tube provides formwork for the concrete, the tube prevents excessive concrete spalling and composite columns add more stiffness to a frame compared to old style steel frame construction. According to past study on the concentric compression behavior of Concrete filled tubular (CFT) columns, the ultimate axial strength of Concrete filled tubular (CFT) columns is largely affected by the thickness of the steel tube and the shape of its cross section Although confining effect in square columns show a small increase in axial strength due to triaxial effects, although it has large wall thicknesses. The people who enjoyed the early Russian form of the roller coaster led the way for the French inventors to create their own version, which included waxed slides instead of ice covered slides because of the difference in temperature between the frigid Russia and more temperate France. Thompson, who invented many diverse things from the time he was a child, is now known as the Father of the Roller Coaster . His roller coaster made over $600 per day the summer it opened, which is amazing considering that Thompson only charged a nickel per ride. After Thompson got things rolling , many other inventors and investors saw the profit in roller coasters and contributed to what is now known as the Golden Age of Roller Coasters, the 1920s. During this time, nearly 2,000 coasters opened up around the country, and even into Canada. From the New York Rye Beach Aeroplane to the Crystal Beach Cyclone in Canada, roller coasters had truly taken off. Unfortunately for roller coaster enthusiasts, though, the economic and social changes of the 1940s, 50s, and 60s brought a sharp decline in the number of people with disposable income enough to attend amusement parks and ride roller coasters. As a result, few new ones were built and many were torn down during this time period. Very few of the Golden Age coasters are still in use today. Luckily, one roller coaster reversed this downward slump and raced into what is now the modern age of roller coasters. • 44. Potential Jurors In Court Cases The Constitution guarantees us a right to a trial by a jury in serious criminal hearings. The jury job is to weed out the facts by reviewing the evidence and deliberating on a verdict based on an agreement of three fourths or five sixths of the jurors (How Are Potential Jurors Selected, 2016), (How Courts Work, 2016). Jurors selected in two phases. The first phase the jurors are randomly selected. The state or federal district will randomly select names from a list of registered voters, a list of people who hold driver s licenses in the state, or a list of people receiving unemployment benefits from the state (How Are Potential Jurors Selected, 2016). After your name is selected off of the list you will receive notification through the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Voir dire is when the court and the attorneys select 12 people as jurors for the case. The process for voir dire differs from state to state, and even from judge to judge on how many jurors they want on the case (How Are Potential Jurors Selected, 2016). Before the interview of the jurors the judge will make a brief statement on the case and inquire on any reason why the juror cannot serve on the case (How Are Potential Jurors Selected, 2016). In addition, alternate jurors are selected due to matter if someone becomes ill or die during the trial (How Courts Work, 2016). They hear the evidence just like the other jurors but not able to deliberate until they are a juror for that trial. Jurors are selected based on their backgrounds and beliefs (How Courts Work, 2016). The juror s interview can be in front of all the selected jurors or in private. The attorneys can at any time object to a juror being part of the trial. There are two types of objections such as peremptory challenges and challenges for cause against the juror (How Are Potential Jurors Selected, 2016). If and when an attorney challenges a juror for cause, the attorney defense has something to do with the juror s background or knowledge to the case that would partially be prejudgment towards the case (How Are Potential Jurors Selected, 2016). Let s say, if there is a police brutality case most likely a police officer will not be selected as a juror in this case. Also, in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Belbin Personality Group Reflection Paper Team work is at the centre of clinical practice in radiography. It is the core structure that allows the efficient flow of work whilst still providing patient centred care. There must be an understanding that a team is not merely a group of people working in proximity to each other; but it is a group of people who use the division of labour and an understanding of each other s role in the team to work in a rational and proficient manner. This essay will reflect on the team building I participated in and its correlation to my Belbin personality team roles. I will also explore the importance of this in practice, in terms of patient centred care and legislation. Using other personality questionnaires, I will consider Belbin s ability to reflect my own roles and question if another method would be more accurate in doing this. In the 1970 s Meredith Belbin devised the Belbin team inventory behavioural test. It was aimed to assess how an individual behaves and interacts in a team environment before placing these people into 9 categories. A person may be spread across multiple categories not defining them to a single possibility. Using the Belbin test has been shown to may improve work in a team. One piece of research used 84 teams to find that forming groups based on Belbin role balance assumption might enhance group performance (Curseu Meslec, 2015, para 36). This means that having a full range of team roles in the group and understanding each other s strengths and weaknesses can impact team performance. Knowing your own Belbin team role allows you to acknowledge your strengths and weaknesses thus helping you focus on what you need to do to improve. From doing the personality questionnaire I was identified as an implementer and a shaper at similar high scores, however the rest of my scores were evenly spread across the remaining 6 roles. I interpret this as in a group I would fit into the role of planning and carrying out strategies in a resourceful way, whilst providing drive to the team to keep the momentum. I may also be able to slot into any missing roles. Belbin (2009) states that implementers are happy to carry out the less appealing tasks in the team those that other members do not want to do or ... • 48. I Want To Stay On The Home Front Dbq Essay During WWI everyone was affected, whether it was the soldier in the battle field coming home with shell shock, or the children left without a father for a few crucial years, or even a lifetime, or the wives, mothers and grandmothers left at home to either pick up the financial burden or to continue on in the best way they knew how without their loved ones. Overall if a person s country was at war then they were affected and had to make sacrifices of food, gas, and other supplies necessary to fuel the war effort. Europeans were affected on the home front when women had to go to work, when they gained a greater sense of nationalism, and also when they had to ration food, and produce as much as possible. When labor shortages got to the point where women were brought in in order to fill the void, it signalled a turning point in history. It opened the door for women to stay in the work force even after the war had ended. The need for workers was severe, to the point where 792,000 women were added to the industrial workforce in Britain between 1914 and 1918. (Document 1) This is a huge ...
