Advisors At The Local Food Bank
In our building there are three main community agencies who donate to our building all the time.
Advisors Excel is the first one and they embrace the communities in which we live and work. They
have known success as a company primarily through two factors, fostering a culture of community
where independent insurance agents and financial advisors are empowered to engage, share and learn
from one another, adhering to our four core principles, one of the most important being always do the
right thing. Now, they are expanding into the culture and that principle, as well as the success they
create, to helping improve the communities in which they as well as their clients live and work. That
means accepting responsibility to help address some of the most pressing problems facing those
communities, and providing opportunities for those who work with us to do the same. Starting in
2016, Advisors Excel has made a commitment to deploying a group of approximately 50 employees
one afternoon a week to help in the community. Whether it s helping at the local food bank,
volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club, assisting with neighborhood cleanup efforts and helping
organize and staff, community events, Advisors Excel will donate roughly 5,000 hours of volunteer
time to its home community every year. They believe in making an impact for their clients and those
they serve, and for our communities. In 2015, Advisors Excel committed $500,000 to Feeding

Huge Divisions in Haiti Lead to Unrest
The ridged class, race and social structures in Haiti led to huge divisions in Haitian society and unrest.
The majority of the population were slaves and slavery played a massive role in the Haitian economy
and its abolishment had a massive impact. The events occurring in Europe, the French revolution for
example, led to the slave revolt and ultimately the independence of Haiti in 1804. The rebellion in
Haiti undoubtedly had an important role in world history.
Between 1756 and1763, the economy of Saint Domingue gradually expanded, sugar and coffee
becoming important export crops. The colony underwent rapid expansion during wars because it
brought about a lot of demand for resources. In 1767, it exported 72 million pounds of raw sugar and
51 million pounds of refined sugar, one million pounds of indigo, and two million pounds of cotton
[1]. Saint Domingue became known as the Pearl of Antilles and became one of the richest colonies in
the 18th century French empire. By the 1780 s Haiti was producing forty percent of all sugar and sixty
percent of all coffee consumed in Europe. It was the jewel of the French colonial economy and was
vital for their strength.
In 1789, a total of 500,000 African slaves were present in Haiti, working on plantations and were
being ruled by 32,000 white colonialists [2]. There were three major groups in the Haitian society,
which were determined by social status and race. At the top of the social hierarchy were the Grands
blancs or Great

The High Powered Lights At Halftime
The high powered lights reflected on the players metalic blue jerseys and the crisp chill in the air
alerted the fans that fall is almost here indicating that it is time for football season. The stands are filled
with cheering students, fans, family, and alumni. The first home football game consisted of amazing
performances from the band, the Pink Panthers, and had many generous promotions from the team s
sponsors.
The first performance of the night began at halftime. The prominent EIU marching band formed in a
perfectly rounded heart around the Panther logo at the fifty yard line. Dressed in flashy black
feathered hats, royal blue and black shirts, and black pants, the trumpets roared and the drummers
pounded with might. Their eyes were focused on the music while the conductor firmly gave them the
beat as he vigorously moved about on the stand. The flags were being twirled effortlessly by the
delicately nimble hands of their holders. As the music was being beautifully executed, the gorgeous
baton twirler spun and launched her baton high into the air. The band first entertained the crowd with
the playing of UpTown Funk, the dedication song of the summer of 2015, then Fall Out Boy s Uma
Thurman, and lastly Walk The Moon s song Shut Up and Dance with Me.
The Pink Panthers accompanied the band in their halftime performance. Adding to the already
spectacular performance of the band, the Pink panthers brought a little extra pizzaz to the show. Their

Joanne s Political Cartoon Analysis
I found Joanne s political cartoon extremely relevant to current events and policy debates. The cartoon
depicts a sheriff and a Texan standing in chest deep water. In the background are farm animals
huddled on the top of a roof in order to prevent drowning, and a large billboard allowing the audience
to know the setting is in TEXAS . However, the most vital part of the cartoon is the sheriff s line
above him, It s not global warming. This water s cold, which parallels the steady position of the
Republican party on climate change. Even when the water is about to flood both individuals, the Texas
sheriff is solid in his claim against global warming and will not budge.
This sentiment against climate protection has evolved over the years. Over

The Five Pillar Of Islam
The pilgrimage to Mecca, which is the fifth Pillar of Islam, is known as hajj. The Five Pillars of Islam
are the foundation of the entire religion, and dictate the actions of every Muslim in both a private and
public manner (Western Traditions 244). The first Pillar is shahadah: to declare, or bear witness, that
there is no god except God (Allah), and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God (Western Traditions
244). The second Pillar is salat: to establish regular worship (Western Traditions 244) also known as
prayer which must occur five times a day. The third Pillar is almsgiving: which requires paying the
Zakat alms (Western Traditions 244). The fourth Pillar is the Ramadan fast: which is a month long fast
that the Quran recognizes as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Peer notes that today, Mecca is a city of more than one and a half million people (Peer The Modern
Mecca), and that every year during hajj between two to three million pilgrims flood into Mecca as
well. As we can imagine, this number is significantly larger than it would have been when the tradition
of the pilgrimage was formed, and therefor the logistics of completing specific rituals becomes
challenging. One example of this is seen in the desire to kiss the stone that was part of Abraham s Ka
ba, something that Muhammad had done on his own hajj (Peer The Modern Mecca). Unfortunately,
because of the immense number of pilgrims trying to kiss the stone, it is impossible for everyone to
even come close to accomplishing this. Many Pilgrims raised smart phones above their heads to
record the moment (Peer The Modern Mecca), as physical contact was nearly impossible, highlighting
the ways in which hajj has been modernized yet remains so important. Peer himself was unable to kiss
the stone, but feels comfort in knowing that this is a common reality for most pilgrims, including
Malcolm X, who also was not able to reach the stone during his pilgrimage (Peer The Modern Mecca).
Also, Islam is very aware that not every Muslim will be able to complete their hajj so alternate options
are given for those who may not be able to attend

10 Important Criteria to Choose a Pc
1. Processor (CPU)
Processor refers to CPU (Central Processing Unit) which is the brains of the computer where most
calculations take place. In terms of computing power, processor is the most important element of a
computer system. Without it, a computer cannot even boot up or running. The performance of
processors determines the speed and the performance of the notebook as well. Whether a computer
system can run smooth or not is also depend on the performance of processor.
Most of the processors of notebooks can be divided into two types, which are Intel based and AMD
based. AMD chips usually less expensive and notebooks based on them are cheaper then Intel based
notebooks. But compared to AMD chips, Intel chips consume less power so ... Show more content on

This will let us know what upgrade potential the system has. Then, we need to look at the ways in
which you intent to use your laptop in order to determine the right amount of system memory, or
RAM needed. If you only need your laptop to perform the usual tasks of emailing, typing on word
processing, spreadsheets, etc. then a standard RAM of 256MB should be enough, which is a common
configuration on most laptops, hence you probably won t need to spend more for more RAM.
However, for storing digital photographs and videos or other multimedia contents, you should equip
your laptop with as much RAM as it can accommodate. Certainly the more memory in a notebook
system the better, but there are other concerns regarding memory in notebooks. Notebooks are
generally more restricted in the amount of memory that can be installed into a system.
The rule of thumb that use for all computer systems for determining if it has enough memory is to
look at the requirements of the software intended to run. Pick up the boxes for each of the applications
and the OS that you intend to run and look at both the minimum and recommended requirements.
Typically you want to have more RAM than the highest minimum and ideally at least as much as the
highest listed recommended requirement.
It is best to check the requirements of the intended software to make the final decisions. This is not
accurate for all computer tasks because some operating systems use more memory than others.

Limiting Reactant Lab Report
Chemistry 11 Formal Lab Limiting and Excess Reactants Lab By Eunice Ng March 26, 2015 Lab
Partner: Amy Zeng Introduction In every chemical reactions, there are always limiting reactants. The
limiting reactants are the reactants that limit the amount of product that can be formed. One reactant
would be chosen as limiting reactants when either one reactant would be used up quicker than the
other one. Therefore, the one that is the first one to used up would be the limiting reactants. The
reaction will eventually stop when the limiting reactant is all used up. The reaction Pb(NO3)2(aq) + 2
KI(aq) → PbI2(s) + 2 KNO3(s) occurs when Pb(NO3)2(aq) reacts with KI(aq). According to the

Pros And Cons Of Ageing
What is ageing:
According to the oxford dictionary, ageing is the process of change in the properties of a material
occurring over a period, either spontaneously or through deliberate action.
In biology, the term Senescence is used, which describes biological ageing. Each cell in the human
body experience stress and damage from exogenous and endogenous sources. These cells then
respond, in a manner, which could lead to cell death or cell recovery. This is where ageing comes into
play, where the cells try to recover, but fail in doing so correctly. The remaining cells subsequently
have permanent damage, which hinders them from working at their full potential. This process
continuously happens inside the human body. Aging is also a good ... Show more content on

This would reduce the need for old age homes. As figure 4.1 shows, with age comes experience. This
means that by raising the life expectancy and health of people, you would also increase the availability
of experienced gathered, that could be shared and utilised.
Cons:
As a person gains years to their life, they experience many heartaches, friends dying or just plainly
tragedies that occurred. This could cause a build up of psychological damage, and tend to make a
person non functional. Therefore, if a person were to live an extended lifespan, they might not live it
happily. Increasing the average lifespan of people, would also decrease the mortality rate in the
populations, which would only add to the current problem of overcrowding in the world. Ethics
When we look at the ethics behind an extended lifespan, you also need to take a look at the
consequences of these actions. The main ethics are mainly; Will everyone have an equal chance to an
extended lifespan and will there be enough room for the new

The Controversial Success of Richard Wagner
Richard Wagner remains one the most respected and controversial figures in the world of opera and
filmmaking. He was a genius of his time and his work has stood the test of time despite the negative
image of the composer due to his racist leanings. Richard Wagner was born in Germany on May 22,
1813, to become one of the most popular artists of that time for his epic operas . Though he was
written off by his teachers as weak in music, he wrote his first drama when he was 11 years of age and
wrote his first musical composition when he was 16 years old proving how ambitious he was at a
young age in his career. Wagner is known to have been a witty and fun loving person who people

He was also impressed by Mozart s Requiem and therefore started his early piano sonata. Although in
his childhood he had been dismissed as being no good at the piano his works proved that he was
indeed talented. In 1831 he enrolled at the Leipzig University becoming a member of the Saxon
student fraternity and taught by Thomas Kantor Theodor Weinlig who was so impressed that he
refused to be paid by him. Wagner started composing his symphonies the first being in C major. His
inspiration came from Beethoven especially the Ninth Symphony and in 1834 he became the
Wurzburg theater chorus master. It is at this time that he met the love of his life singer and actress
Minna Planer in 1836. They had a marriage that was complicated by deceit and betrayal as due to his
lifestyle as a womanizer making his wife run away. Though they reconciled later, they ended up
divorcing after Wagner decided to marry

Persuasive Techniques In Bowling For Columbine
A documentary is a genre of film that provides a factual report on a particular story, viewpoint,
message or experience. In this essay, two documentaries, Bowling for columbine by Michael Moore
and Made in Bangladesh by CBC news will be explored to show how persuasive techniques are used
to make an audience feel a particular way.
Firstly, Bowling for Columbine Moore s addresses the issue of gun violence in America following a
school shooting. On the other hand, Made in Bangladesh by CBC news focuses on the issue of
sweatshops and maltreatment of workers in Bangladesh after the collapsing of an uncertified
sweatshop. These two documentaries effectively and successfully use persuasive techniques to present
a confrontational message on social justice. Also, they position the audience to sympathize with the
victims and in turn want to do something about the issue. These techniques include the use careful
selection of material, the use of cinematography, music and sound effects, sequencing and editing.
Although the two documentaries have different content they equally manage to persuade viewers that
the content is meaningful. The impact that the documentaries had on me or other audience members
was that of sympathy and outrage about the incidents that fell upon innocent people featured in these
documentaries.
Both documentaries were careful about the material which was used and the that information was
included and excluded. One similar trait that both documentaries share

By The Waters Of Babylon By John Benet Analysis
Rules are made to keep society in order and to preserve life. If rules are broken, consequences are
often paid by the ones who breaks them. In the short story By the Waters of Babylon by Stephen
Vincent Benet tells the story of John, a young boy who unintentionally breaks the rules during his
journey to a forbidden place. The message towards rules are to be respectful, responsible and
thoughtful because it avoids troubles. Being responsible is one of the keys to success when behaving
towards rules. Responsibility shows the understanding of the surroundings and independence. When
acting responsible towards rules, it draws people s confidence and faith. It is a rule to not go to the
forbidden place and John behaves responsible towards this

The design of a 3D printer is a challenge as it involves many interacting subsystems from different
areas. 3D printers involve mechanical parts that are controlled by embedded controllers and are driven
by power electronics. The motors in 3D printers are used to provide motion within 3 axes, that is the
x, y, and z. Sensors are used for end stops, which are used as interlock safety devices for the x, y, and z
axis to maintain the motion within the distance allowed. The printer also involves a 3D scanner that is

Defending Controversial Novels Essay Draft
Kesey Flew East, His Critics Fly West: They ve All Missed the Merit in the Cuckoo s Nest
There s something about taking a plow and breaking new ground. It gives you energy (Kesey qtd. in
Sova 244). This energy, however, comes with a cost, as demonstrated by Kesey s revolutionary novel
One Flew over the Cuckoo s Nest. In the process of writing the book, Kesey embarked with ambitious
goal of ultimately reshaping American society s approach to established institutions. Never before had
a major American work illustrated conformity in American medical consortiums in such a subversive
manner, and even the Seismic Sixties during which Cuckoo s Nest was published saw the novel s
acclaim balanced with pointed criticism. Today, One Flew over the Cuckoo s Nest is taught
nationwide, and each year millions of high school students submerse themselves in the story of Chief
Bromden and Randle McMurphy. Both these men are patients at a mental ward in Oregon, Bromden
being an Indian chief who is assumed deaf and dumb by the other patients and narrates the novel, and
McMurphy being the coarse, rebellious, gambling man who comes to the ward with a marked
intention of defying rules and establishing a dominant presence. Until McMurphy s arrival Nurse
Ratched runs the ward with precision and a subtle force, combining with the organization of the

is driven on a dynamometer which checks engine and transmission functions, cruise control and the
anti lock braking system. After that, the unit is sent through a shower testing booth to check for water
leaks and driven on a test tracks, testing various roads surfaces. Additional examinations will take
place to confirm quality before the vehicle is transported to the dealership.

Essential Operations Of Information Systems
The essential operations of information systems sustained by of critical infrastructure rely on the
explicit functionality of software applications supporting complex, interdependent, information
systems. The software application provides the virtual framework for information systems to operate
efficiently in a critical infrastructure. Information systems consistently communicate with
supplementary information systems positioned throughout the network to support the infrastructure s
essential operations. The dependence of software and information systems increases, as businesses
require additional systems to automate critical operations. However, the connectivity and complexities
of information systems supporting critical infrastructure increases the critical infrastructure s exposure
rate of software vulnerabilities to advanced persistent threats. Conventionally, software application
facilitates process involved in auditing, configuring and distributing commands to augment
interdependent information system performance.
The security and safety of the nation s critical infrastructure are significantly relying on measures
implemented to ensure software resiliency and dependability. According to statistics released by the
National Security Agency (NSA) chief General Keith Alexander in 2013, about 90 percent of the
nation s critical infrastructure is owned by the private sector, and therefore is not under the control of
the U.S. government or military. (Gripas, 2013) However,

Legalization Of Drugs
Nonetheless, does legalization of illegal products, such as drugs, diminish black market activity?
James Q. Wilson, a former professor at UCLA and Harvard, stated in one of his columns Our federal
drug laws are irrational, readers then demanded him that we should solve this problem by legalizing
drugs (Wilson). It would be so simple and easy if the legalization of drugs could only work to solve
our nation s black market drug problem. However, this has not worked in any of the cases that have
been tried. In Colorado, where marijuana is legal, growers were growing marijuana and shipping it to
other states where it is illegal. Even though it is legal in nine states, these growers are still selling it on
the black market to avoid the legal regulation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our Government should not legalize illegal black market drugs such as heroin, cocaine, and
methamphetamine because it does not diminish the black market s drug organization, it only makes it
easier for them to not get caught and easier for the population to access these drugs.
If legalization of dangerous drugs such as cocaine, methamphetamine, and heroin occurs, they will
become cheaper to buy and that will make it so much easier for users to get the product. Now if illegal
drugs became legal and the price becomes cheaper, anybody could get these highly dangerous drugs.
Many of the American population would oppose this idea because it is a possible harm to their lives
and others. While the black market sells these chemicals for more money, the prices there are also
becoming cheaper. Moreover, many who think that legalization will stop the black market from selling
products because the price is lower is wrong, that is not the case. In Colorado, marijuana growers were
caught selling marijuana to people in states where the drug is illegal. They do this to avoid the

Persuasive Essay On Religion
You might as well cut off your entire personality under the roof of religious parents, or at least learn to
pretend you are someone else in front of them. There is no having your own beliefs, being gay or
being with someone of another race. You learn to find excuses on why you haven t found yourself a
white, Christian man like I don t know mom, I guess God hasn t provided him for me yet, when really
the only guy you re looking for is in fact a woman. If you came out of the closet, of course, you can
bet God will strike you down with a bolt of lightning and your family will shun you. You also have to
be cautious of when you say you don t believe in God, because really you do, you ve just turned away
from him. You get to go to church a little more because your family thinks that Satan has gotten a hold
on you. What you need to do is wipe away any free will you think you have and get on your knees and
pray to God for redemption. Get use to the white walls around you because when they find out you
have a happy relationship with a black boy you will never see another room beside your own. I like to
call this one House Arrest.
That s where I m at now. No more phone, no more going outside, no more even walking to the bus
stop without my mom by my side. I d like to state for the record that I do not enjoy lying to my
parents. I wish that I could be open and honest with them, but their minds are set on two things; they

Essay on Wonder Woman
The Wonder Years Her mission is to bring love, peace, and sexual equality to a world torn by the
hatred of men. The heroine Princess Diana of Themyscira, more famously known as Wonder Woman,
has gone through various reimagining and different retellings in both media and comic books. But all
of these have the same basic origin. She was born and lived the majority of her life on the isolated
paradise island of Themyscira, an island inhabited entirely of Amazonian women. Everything changed
one day when pilot, Captain Steve Trevor crashed on the mysterious island. Soon after he crashed, as
he was being held and treated on the island, Queen Hippilyta held a tournament to decide who would
have the honor of escorting Captain Trevor back to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the 2009 movie she is not in need of a man or in love with Steve Trevor right off the bat, but instead
he earns her love by proving himself by helping in the hunt down Ares. She also does not stalk him
like the 1975 counter part but instead it s him following her around but instead of stalking her, helping
her; and in the end she is not in disguise from him as his assistant but instead in disguise from
everyone else but as a friend, or possibly his girlfriend because it is never clearly explained. Captain
Steve Trevor s 2009 character differs vastly in comparison to his 1975 counter part. In the 1975
adaptation he was merely a flat characterized damsel in distress who tried to act as a symbol of the
American ideal. But in the 2009 animated movie he was more fleshed out and given more
characterization and more of a major role in the plot. The 2009 version of Trevor was a witty, brave,
and a symbol of sexual equality. Also Steve Trevor in this movie more so acted as Wonder Woman s
sidekick in the fact that many of the times in which there was action they both worked cooperatively
to defeat any threat. In the 1975 movie, Steve Trevor never or rarely ever talked about sexual equality
while Wonder Woman talked more so like a feminist extremist. But in the 2009 animated movie, after
Wonder Woman keeps talking down about men and claiming Steve Trevor was a sexist, he had enough

How Interests And Interactions Shape Science And Technology
HOW INTERESTS AND INTERACTIONS SHAPE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Ian Hacking
uses the example of dolomite in order to show that human interests do not play a role in science. His
belief is that there is nothing less socially constructed than a rock, but this statement does not
accurately portray the facts. Dolomite has a long history that involves a number of people and social
interests. Each person contributed to the discovery and identification of dolomite and social factors
were at play during the scientific process. Hackling starts with the history of dolomite. In 1791, a
French geologist, Deodat de Dolomieu, came across a type of limestone in the Tyrolean Alps. Then in
1792, Nicolas Theodor von Saussure named the region and the layer of sedimentary rock after
Dolomieu. Saussure then analyzed dolomite; he claimed that it was high in aluminum and held no
magnesium. However, this analysis was incorrect and it would take a decade to get the correct
analysis. Dolomite is an interesting example because it shows that scientific facts have a social factor
that is often ignored. Geologists stuck with Saussure s analysis even though twelve years earlier a
scientist by the name of Giovanni Arduino identified dolomite as magnesia limestone (Hacking, 187).
Arduino correctly identified dolomite s composition but very few people paid attention to his analysis.
Dolomite was named after Dolomieu because he had come across dolomite. The compound was not
named after Arduino nor was his

Personality Of Disneyland Park
In the year 1955, Disneyland Park was opened. Walt Disney s longtime dream of an organized and
clean park came to pass. The theme park was located in a place called Anaheim in California. It was
worth an amount of $17 million. The park was initially an orange grove before it was transformed into
a theme park. An actor and a future US president Ronald Reagan presided over the activities while
launching the new park. Many people were invited on that opening ceremony to witness the official
opening the park. Later on the park became a place where families and their children could enjoy,
relax, and meet the Disney characters. Within a short period, the park had already upgraded and was

Nonverbal Communication In The Movie Erin Brockovich
Nonverbal communication covers all aspects of communication beyond words. It is anything from
body gestures to the way words are spoken. The tone, demeanor, hidden meaning behind words, mix
that with body language and what is creates in nonverbal communication elements. Even clothes and
personal appearance can send a nonverbal message. Nonverbal communication accounts for nearly 65
93% communication means (Wood, 2014). One area where nonverbal communication sent a negative,
incorrect message is the movie Erin Brockovich. The clothing of the main character sent the message
that she was uneducated, white trash. This could not be further from the truth. She was an intelligent,
single mother who saw a problem where nobody else did.
Clothing can send a nonverbal message. A person dresses differently when going to an adventure park
than for an evening out on the town. What nonverbal rule did I break? I wore less than appropriate
attire to a funeral showing. One of my cancer patients lost her battle with her disease. I learned of the
viewing the day it was taking place. Due to the time and location of the viewing I went directly from
work to the funeral home. The short notice did not allow for me to bring a change of clothes or go
home prior.
How did I break the rule? The rule was broken by wearing the inappropriate attire. Even though
viewings are expected to be slightly less formal than the actual funeral there is still a level of
expectation of others. The expectation of someone being dressed in business casual. I would not
expect to see someone in their jeans and a t shirt or shorts at a viewing. I was still in my work clothing
which appropriate for the job task, no appropriate for the moment. Myself and my nurses wore our
scrubs to the viewing because we all had similar situations that would not allow for attire change.
What were the reaction of others? The deceased sisters did not seem bothered by our wear. They were
aware that we might not have time to go home and change our clothes at the end of our day. Due to
their high involvement in the care of their sister, they had grown quite found on myself and the other
staff. They were just overjoyed that all of us could attend and pay

Accountability On The Fire Ground
Christopher McCoy SCC Fire academy Benji Johnson 6 24 17 Accountability on the Fire Ground An
essential component of the fire ground is accountability. When an accountability system is established
and implemented, a safely ran and efficient ground operation can occur. Fire departments that
establish and implement accountability systems are serious about maintaining the integrity about their
company and preventing any freelancing that may occur on the fire ground. The Personal
Accountability System (PAS) primary reason is to keep track of the fire an emergency personnel,

Everyone understands that the fire ground is a fast moving, dynamic, and many times a chaotic
environment in the best of situations. However, consider how much more complicated that
environment becomes when the IC hears the word Mayday on the radio or suddenly realizes that an
individual or an entire crew has not been seen or heard from and he has no idea of where to start
looking.
One of the main goals of the incident command system (ICS) is to manage resources on the fire
grounds. The Incident Command System has a built in accountability system. Proper management of
fire ground operations is necessary to achieve and maintain accountability. Accountability through
incident command is possible only if it is established from the very beginning of the incident with the
arrival of the first unit, officer, or member who establishes command and begins to assign and track
incoming resources. Resources that self deploy on the fire ground without the establishment and
direction of an overall IC are not operating within incident command, a single incident action plan
(IAP), or an accountability system. Any organization that waits for a later arriving officer to show up,
establish command, and then attempt to locate and track multiple self deployed resources from scratch
is setting that officer and the organization up for failure and, ultimately, a tragic disaster.

The Influence Of Playing Pokemon Go

southeastern school. Forty four percent of the respondents were male, and 56% were female. Seventy
eight percent of the respondents were between the ages of twelve and fifteen, while 22% of the
respondents were between the ages of sixteen and eighteen. Only about 1 of 10 students (9.8%) said
that when Pokemon Go was popular they played every day. However, roughly 3 in 10 students
(31.6%) answered that when it was popular their friends played every day. The hypothesis stated:
Males play video games significantly more than females. As the results demonstrate, there was a
significant difference between males and females with respect to playing Pokemon Go while it was
popular ( t= 4.507, p .05). More specifically, males played Pokemon Go at a much higher rate (M=

between males and females with respect to perception of their friends playing (t=2.627, p=.009). The
results of this question show that males believe their peers play much more (M= 2.77) than females

Doublespeak In The Mastercard Commercial
The first unethical tactic used in the MasterCard commercial is misleading doublespeak. According to
Larson (1998), doublespeak is language that conceals it underlying meaning in an attempt to
misguide. Doublespeak is manipulative because it allows persuaders to represent themselves with
positive connotations of words when in reality the underlying principle is negative (Paul and Elder,
2012). In the MasterCard commercial, doublespeak is used particularly in the phrase, a free day to
take them all in: priceless. Breaking it down, the word free is misleading because obviously a credit
card has to be paid off. Similarly, the word priceless refers to how it s impossible to put a price on
quality time with family, yet in reality, spending money ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Campbell et. al. (2013), the association principle is defined as a tactic in advertising that
connects a product to a positive cultural value image, even if the value has little to do with the
product. In the World MasterCard commercial, the advertisement creates an enchanted shop where the
woman in the commercial experiences blissful happiness because her family is happy and enjoying
their time together. This creates an association between MasterCard and family values using
enthymeme, which involves argumentation where a premise is filled in by the persuadee (Simons et.
al., 2001). The first premise is that enjoying happy times with family is important, and the conclusion
is that people with the World MasterCard enjoy good times with their family. Given this, the viewer is
prompted to determine that they should have a MasterCard to be happy. People want to fit in and
because our culture often asserts that family is important and should be valued, consumers feel
pressure to get a credit card to experience a better life with their family. Specifically, MasterCard is
subtly claiming that without their credit card, your children won t be laughing and enjoying
themselves, your spouse won t be contentedly sighing, and you won t get any hugs. However, the use
of a credit card has absolutely no bearing a family s affection for each other.

Public Sentiments Concerning Chinese Immigration Essay
Public Sentiments Concerning Chinese Immigration In 1852, there were over 20,000 Chinese
immigrants living in California (Franks). Americans reacted very negatively to this influx, and their
negative sentiments were made apparent in the California Supreme Court s People v. Hall verdict,
which rendered Chinese testimony unreliable. Then, in 1882, President Chester Arthur signed the
Chinese Exclusion Act, a law that prohibited Chinese laborers from entering the United States (Foner,
651). From the 1850s up to the Exclusion Act of 1882, Americans felt increasingly negative
sentiments towards the Chinese. As illustrated through newspaper and magazine depictions along the

The scenery is drawn with many dark shades on the walls and floor, depicting it as an alley or a
similarly secluded location. Here, the Chinese man partakes in his devious acts, away from the public

presumably as a result of the Chinese man s negative influence. The little boy is underage and is
engaging in immoral behavior. The Chinese man has corrupted him simply through association, and
by smoking a cigar at his age he has been corrupted. This depiction shows the underlying perception
that the Chinese were an infestation that were negatively influencing and corrupting the population.
This perception of the Chinese as a menace is also apparent in the image Amusing the Child from The
Wasp. This picture depicts the Chinese man as a diabolical creature: He crawls around on four legs
like a dog, and has large scaly hands with sharp, thin nails. The Chinese man wears tattered clothing
and from behind, a long, red devil s tale extends from his body. Also, the image has two Americans

which represents the Pacific Coast. The Chinese man s appearance not only degrades him, but also

What are the differences between global human rights regimes and regional human rights regimes?
Include one example of a regional human rights regime (write at least 1 page double spaced)(5 points)
The most notable example of a global human rights regime is the United Nations, and an example of
regional human rights would be the OAS ( Organization of American States). Both entities have
focuses that are quite similar and intersecting. The main goal of the UN is displayed in article 1 of the
UN Charter which states to maintain international peace and security . Primary concerns of the UN are
security, humanitarian assistance, development, and human rights which is recognized in the Universal
Declaration of Rights by the UN. However, before there was the UN declaration there was the
American Declaration on the Rights and Duties of Man .
Despite the similarities both institutions possess there are differences that are apparent in the utilitarian
function of each. The UN has a universal influence and system of play, and the OAS plays a smaller
role looking over only its specific geographical region of the Americas. While both aim to influence
policy and the promotion of human rights there are advantages that come with their differences. The
UN has criticized the need for regional institutions like the OAS where they believe the OAS role or
goals overlap with those of their own. However, the OAS

Ronaldo s Acceptance Of Goods By Benjamin
5. Ronaldo s acceptance of goods by Benjamin
Here arises the issue of whether Benjamin had the authority to sale the cargo to Ronaldo. It can be
claimed that there are two opinions on this subject.
On the one hand Benjamin never became lawful holder of the shipment under s.19(3) of SOGA 1979
and as a result he had no right on the goods property. This fact and in combination with s.21(1) gives
no property to Ronaldo.
On the other hand Ronaldo can rely on s.25(1), as Benjamin did not notice him regarding his previous
transaction with Maurice. Benjamin got the cargo from Maurice in good faith33, which also happened
with Ronaldo receiving the same Bill of Lading from Benjamin in line with the definitions given in
s.2(1) s.2(4), paying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, if we take the view that property had not passed to Benjamin, then s.39(2) also gives
Maurice the right of stoppage of the goods as s.41(c) s.44 confirm that the unpaid seller Maurice has
exercisable rights on the goods. However, what confuses the case is that Benjamin had already sold
the cargo to Ronaldo. If Maurice had taken action against Benjamin prior to the re sale, then no such
issue would have arisen, as the property would be an issue between these two parties which means
that Maurice could exercise his aforementioned rights against him , but now a third person has the title
of the goods and has nothing to do with the conflict between Benjamin and Maurice since he acted in
good faith. Accordingly, under s.43(1)(b) Maurice s rights on the cargo cease to exist, since Ronaldo
lawfully obtained the bill of lading by Benjamin. In support of his statement s.47(2)(a) also provides
that no lien, retention or stoppage can be exercised on the consignment.
To sum up, since the action against Benjamin was effected after Ronaldo had acquired the title of the
goods, Maurice had no right on the cargo.

The Change Process Essay
At the beginning of the change process, a crucial aspect for Ghosn was the importance and the need
for an open communication in both directions: from upper management to lower management and
vice versa. Before he took over the position of the COO at Nissan, he traveled to Japan to gather
information from the lower level management up to the top level management.
Clampitt, DeKoch, and Cushman outlined different communication strategies, which can be found in
Ghosn s communication style. They authors defined the communication strategies based on
communication effectiveness and amount of informational transmitted and emphasized that leaders
can use the strategies simultaneously (Palmer et al., 2009, p. 305). In the case of Nissan, Ghosn
followed the device of transparency to regain credibility, and thus he transmitted an enormous amount
of information. Furthermore, the communication effectiveness was middle to high since Ghosn
provided detailed information to the people involved in the change. He wanted to avoid confusions,
and thus he shared a maximum of information (Hughes et al., 2003, p. 6). Ghosn also engaged people
being a part of the change discussion, as an example: He defined the CFTs, which had the challenge to
identify the change actions and obstacles. Thus, Ghosn s communication strategy (at least based on the
case study) was a mix of tell and sell and underscore and explore (Palmer et al., 2009, p. 306).
Plamer et al. (2009) introduced various questions,

The Link Between English Reading And Mathematics
I noted that historically, any link between English reading (Arts) and Mathematics skills (Science)
seems to have been at best a tenuous one. The issue brought into the public domain by C P Snow
(Rede Lecture 1959) where he claimed: The two cultures (Arts and Science) stare at each other with
mutual hostility and dislike... If this state of affairs was reflected in educational establishments of that
time the likelihood of any meaning full cooperation between those engaging in the teaching of reading
comprehension and mathematics would seem to be very remote indeed.

He subsequently explains that it is the format for instruction that presents the difficulty. He
demonstrates if a given task is to calculate a mathematical problem and information is presented as
numbers with operational signs sequenced appropriately, children who understand algorithms can
proceed with ease. However, when the mathematical task to answer includes information that is
presented at the outset in words and sentences, pupils must first comprehend the text before they can
use the appropriate algorithmic skill. Obviously then even the best maths students cannot solve
problems they don t fully understand. Fuentes (1998) maintains the narrative of mathematical
problems tends to be compacted where mathematical concepts and relationships are often hidden,
implied or assumed and the pupil is left to expand and extract the true meaning. This is in marked
contrast to the narrative of storybooks which tends to be expansive and elaborate. In addition he notes
that the ambiguity found in the interpretation of for example, a poem may well be applauded however
any ambiguity in maths text interpretation simply means failure.
From research I have encountered thus far I must agree that good reading comprehension is essential
for interpreting mathematical texts. Baker (1995) and Christen and Murphy

Practice the next few days were rough. I wanted to work extra hard so I wouldn t be disappointed in
my next performance. As a team, we worked out Monday and Tuesday and the rest of the week all we
did was stretch and warm up in preparation for the meet over the weekend. I did a lot of extra lifting
after practice and a lot of work to get more flexible in hopes that will make me faster. My coach once
told me before that being flexible increases your speed and makes you more mobile. I would do these
drills that you would hop over a hurdle and then go under them stretching your hip flexor muscle.
After these drills, I would use resistive bands to stretch the muscles in my legs and in my hip. I would
hope after all this extra work I would see a big difference.
On Monday, we did a workout to increase our endurance. It was 3 by 400 meters at 60 pace with a 4
minute rest in between each one. This workout was hard because I didn t realize how difficult running
a full lap on the track was. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have to start eating good cause maybe that will help. Plus, there is nothing wrong with eating healthy
to begin with. It will only be good for me. I made my mom make me grilled chicken every night.
Depending on the night and what I was feeling like, I would have a plate of grilled chicken with either
salad, broccoli, sweet potatoes, or brussel sprouts. None of this stuff tasted bad either so I didn t mind
eating it a majority of the nights for dinner. I drank so much water during the stage of my life too. I
would have to use the bathroom so many times a day. Even in class, every few minutes I would have
to leave to use the bathroom. Some of my teachers would yell at me for leaving the class room too
much and even my dean yelled at me for carrying a gallon of water with me throughout the halls. I
would usually drink a gallon of water a day. I heard it was good for you and also, I wanted to stop
drinking a lot of soda and artificial

The Music Of Elvis Presley
There were plenty of music coming out and showing up in the 1960 s. It was time; time for a new
form of music, a new sound, it was time for a revolution. There were all types of music being played
and new music being formed. There were all sorts of bands playing different kinds of music and
playing with their own styles while taking over the airwaves. Whether it be rock, soul, or any other
type of music, it was a revolution. This also led to new bands forming and breaking into the industry.
In the sixties rock music comes of age and dominates the popular music charts. Elvis Presley
continued to score hits in the early part of the decade, but the music continued to diversify with the
folk revival, the Brill Building sound, Phil Spector s wall of sound, girl groups and surf music, all
impacting the early part of the decade. The Motown, Stax and Atlantic labels bring more African
American artists back to the forefront of the pop charts. By 1964 American artists are sharing the top
of the charts with U.K. bands led by great bands like the Beatles and The Rolling Stones. In the U.S.
garage bands emerge, inspired by the British Invasion sound.
There were many bands that were ruling the airwaves and even just beginning and making their name
in the music industry. From the Beatles to Led Zeppelin, all the way to Black Sabbath in the category
of Rock. Songs ranging from Hey Jude to Whole Lotta Love . In Soul/Motown; the Temptations to
Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, all the

The Inequality Of Rural Women
There s women in these countries that don t even know when their next meal is, or when they will be
able to drink a glass of water. It s tragic to mention that juvenilization of poverty coincides with
feminization of poverty because mothers are always expected to nurture and raise the kids, as it is
explained in the theory of functionalism. A 1992 UN report discovered the number of rural women
living in poverty in the developing countries has increased by almost 50% over the past 20 years to an
awesome 565 million. (IPeterson)This quote exemplifies the deterioration of rural women s identity
that is imposed due to impact of colonial powers. However, it s ironic how these countries are
developing but still undergo a mass incline in the poverty rate amongst women, leads to question what
their development plans to digress. With the establishment of agreements of international free trade
policies, corporations used this motive as a way to generate profit from cheap labor in underdeveloped
countries. Colonization of small rural counties is solely sought out to benefit the wealthy of the
population and exploits the majority of the poor natives. Some condescending examples include the
deterioration of indigenous culture and identity, physical harm to the rebellious natives, and
exploitation of the resources that continue to destroy the lives of women. After Spanish colonial
powers withdrew from Peru during independence in the early 19th century, rapid shifts swept across

Slaughterhouse Five and its Depiction of Key World War II Events Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse
Five is an interesting but complicated novel about a man bouncing through time and space. The novel
is a satire with elements of science fiction, although Kurt Vonnegut incorporates into the plot some of
his actual experiences as a World War II soldier and prisoner of war. Vonnegut s lead character and
protagonist is Billy Pilgrim, a person who time travels throughout the novel. Vonnegut brings the
readers along on Billy s wild and unpredictable journey which goes in several different directions.
While this complicates the story, Vonnegut keeps returning to the theme of war by returning Billy
back to his time as a soldier during World War II. Vonnegut devotes significant portions of
Slaughterhouse Five to the war theme, capturing the zeitgeist of World War II through vivid and
highly accurate depictions of key events such as the Battle of the Bulge, the use of boxcars to transport
prisoners of war, and the bombing of Dresden by the Allied forces. By transporting Billy back to the
Battle of the Bulge, Vonnegut effectively captures the harsh realities of this significant and vitally
important World War II event. Early in the novel, Billy is thrust into his regiment when it was in the
process of being destroyed by the Germans in the famous Battle of the Bulge (Vonnegut 40). Billy
finds himself in the middle of this difficult

Narrative Essay On Maple Street
Maple Street. The middle of July. An ideal Saturday afternoon with temperatures at a fairly
comfortable 80 degrees, the air permeated with the tantalizing smell of a barbecue or two around the
neighborhood. Boys played pick up baseball at the nearby recreational dugout. Girls played hopscotch
and giggled at boys they fancied passing by on bicycles. Neighbors waved to each other as they
passed on the chalk laden sidewalks, and the trees were exuding the pleasant song of birds perched
upon their branches. This was it. The perfect summer day. A young, fair haired boy named Bobby,
rode around the neighborhood aimlessly on his brand new, bright red Schwinn bicycle, which he had
received as an 11th birthday present less than a month earlier. A small transistor radio was hanging
from one of the handles, belting out Dee Dee Sharp s Mashed Potato Time at a boisterous volume.
Mr. Hargis, the resident Neighborhood Grouch, was watering his lawn and smoking a fresh cigar.
Bobby, being fascinated by Mr. Hargis, stopped pedaling and planted his feet to the ground, watching
intently from a safe distance. Mr. Hargis sensed the eyes on him and raised his head toward the
direction, locking eyes with the boy. Normally he would have scowled and shooed away anybody he
felt was bothering him (a.k.a. anybody), but the pleasant warmth of the afternoon ... Show more

It stopped at the end of the street, and so did everybody else as they awaited the services of the Ice
Cream Man. Bobby, however, had no money on his person, and so he begrudgingly turned around to
collect his bicycle, which he sat on idly while he watched his friends buying their ice cream. While
watching, he noticed that it was the same man in the truck he had seen the last few times. An older
man (probably as old as Mr. Hargis, Bobby suspected), with thin white hair and a pleasant smile to
light up his slightly wrinkled

Winthrop s First Governor Of The Massachusetts Bay Colony
Winthrop was a well educated man who became the first governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony.
John Winthrop was a visionary utopian who saw fault in the English religious society. Winthrop called
England, Morally corrupt and over burdened with people, however; Winthrop sought new land for his
children and Christian followers. In 1630 John Winthrop began his exodus with 900 migrants in
search of a new land . Winthrop envisioned a new colony that would reform the Christian society that
he knew of in England. This Christian reformation was lead by Winthrop. Also, magistrates, and
ministers helped develop the blueprint of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. John Winthrop s overall goal
was to help colonist work together for the greater good of the whole population.
John Winthrop s Sermon Upon reaching the new land, serious issues regarding community formation
arose. The Puritans main concern was how they were going to create a community in the wilderness
without each member separating off into different directions. A societal shift was necessary to
preserve the unity of the colony. Magistrates and ministers had to convince the colonist that their
personal salvation depended on the measure on their collective behavior. John Winthrop called his
community, A city upon a hill, because he wanted to urge the colonist to re conceptualize their
differences, and sacrifice individuality in order to foster the greater good of the society. John Winthrop
s, A Model of Christianity

  • 3. Huge Divisions in Haiti Lead to Unrest The ridged class, race and social structures in Haiti led to huge divisions in Haitian society and unrest. The majority of the population were slaves and slavery played a massive role in the Haitian economy and its abolishment had a massive impact. The events occurring in Europe, the French revolution for example, led to the slave revolt and ultimately the independence of Haiti in 1804. The rebellion in Haiti undoubtedly had an important role in world history. Between 1756 and1763, the economy of Saint Domingue gradually expanded, sugar and coffee becoming important export crops. The colony underwent rapid expansion during wars because it brought about a lot of demand for resources. In 1767, it exported 72 million pounds of raw sugar and 51 million pounds of refined sugar, one million pounds of indigo, and two million pounds of cotton [1]. Saint Domingue became known as the Pearl of Antilles and became one of the richest colonies in the 18th century French empire. By the 1780 s Haiti was producing forty percent of all sugar and sixty percent of all coffee consumed in Europe. It was the jewel of the French colonial economy and was vital for their strength. In 1789, a total of 500,000 African slaves were present in Haiti, working on plantations and were being ruled by 32,000 white colonialists [2]. There were three major groups in the Haitian society, which were determined by social status and race. At the top of the social hierarchy were the Grands blancs or Great ... The High Powered Lights At Halftime The high powered lights reflected on the players metalic blue jerseys and the crisp chill in the air alerted the fans that fall is almost here indicating that it is time for football season. The stands are filled with cheering students, fans, family, and alumni. The first home football game consisted of amazing performances from the band, the Pink Panthers, and had many generous promotions from the team s sponsors. The first performance of the night began at halftime. The prominent EIU marching band formed in a perfectly rounded heart around the Panther logo at the fifty yard line. Dressed in flashy black feathered hats, royal blue and black shirts, and black pants, the trumpets roared and the drummers pounded with might. Their eyes were focused on the music while the conductor firmly gave them the beat as he vigorously moved about on the stand. The flags were being twirled effortlessly by the delicately nimble hands of their holders. As the music was being beautifully executed, the gorgeous baton twirler spun and launched her baton high into the air. The band first entertained the crowd with the playing of UpTown Funk, the dedication song of the summer of 2015, then Fall Out Boy s Uma Thurman, and lastly Walk The Moon s song Shut Up and Dance with Me. The Pink Panthers accompanied the band in their halftime performance. Adding to the already spectacular performance of the band, the Pink panthers brought a little extra pizzaz to the show. The cartoon depicts a sheriff and a Texan standing in chest deep water. In the background are farm animals huddled on the top of a roof in order to prevent drowning, and a large billboard allowing the audience to know the setting is in TEXAS . However, the most vital part of the cartoon is the sheriff s line above him, It s not global warming. This water s cold, which parallels the steady position of the Republican party on climate change. Even when the water is about to flood both individuals, the Texas sheriff is solid in his claim against global warming and will not budge. The Five Pillars of Islam are the foundation of the entire religion, and dictate the actions of every Muslim in both a private and public manner (Western Traditions 244). The first Pillar is shahadah: to declare, or bear witness, that there is no god except God (Allah), and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God (Western Traditions 244). The second Pillar is salat: to establish regular worship (Western Traditions 244) also known as prayer which must occur five times a day. The third Pillar is almsgiving: which requires paying the Zakat alms (Western Traditions 244). The fourth Pillar is the Ramadan fast: which is a month long fast that the Quran recognizes as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Peer notes that today, Mecca is a city of more than one and a half million people (Peer The Modern Mecca), and that every year during hajj between two to three million pilgrims flood into Mecca as well. As we can imagine, this number is significantly larger than it would have been when the tradition of the pilgrimage was formed, and therefor the logistics of completing specific rituals becomes challenging. One example of this is seen in the desire to kiss the stone that was part of Abraham s Ka ba, something that Muhammad had done on his own hajj (Peer The Modern Mecca). Unfortunately, because of the immense number of pilgrims trying to kiss the stone, it is impossible for everyone to even come close to accomplishing this. Many Pilgrims raised smart phones above their heads to record the moment (Peer The Modern Mecca), as physical contact was nearly impossible, highlighting the ways in which hajj has been modernized yet remains so important. Peer himself was unable to kiss the stone, but feels comfort in knowing that this is a common reality for most pilgrims, including Malcolm X, who also was not able to reach the stone during his pilgrimage (Peer The Modern Mecca). Also, Islam is very aware that not every Muslim will be able to complete their hajj so alternate options are given for those who may not be able to attend ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If you only need your laptop to perform the usual tasks of emailing, typing on word processing, spreadsheets, etc. then a standard RAM of 256MB should be enough, which is a common configuration on most laptops, hence you probably won t need to spend more for more RAM. However, for storing digital photographs and videos or other multimedia contents, you should equip your laptop with as much RAM as it can accommodate. Certainly the more memory in a notebook system the better, but there are other concerns regarding memory in notebooks. Notebooks are generally more restricted in the amount of memory that can be installed into a system. The rule of thumb that use for all computer systems for determining if it has enough memory is to look at the requirements of the software intended to run. Pick up the boxes for each of the applications and the OS that you intend to run and look at both the minimum and recommended requirements. Typically you want to have more RAM than the highest minimum and ideally at least as much as the highest listed recommended requirement. It is best to check the requirements of the intended software to make the final decisions. This is not accurate for all computer tasks because some operating systems use more memory than others. ... Limiting Reactant Lab Report Chemistry 11 Formal Lab Limiting and Excess Reactants Lab By Eunice Ng March 26, 2015 Lab Partner: Amy Zeng Introduction In every chemical reactions, there are always limiting reactants. The limiting reactants are the reactants that limit the amount of product that can be formed. One reactant would be chosen as limiting reactants when either one reactant would be used up quicker than the other one. Therefore, the one that is the first one to used up would be the limiting reactants. The reaction will eventually stop when the limiting reactant is all used up. The reaction Pb(NO3)2(aq) + 2 KI(aq) → PbI2(s) + 2 KNO3(s) occurs when Pb(NO3)2(aq) reacts with KI(aq). According to the solubility rules, cations and anions in aqueous solution would ... These cells then respond, in a manner, which could lead to cell death or cell recovery. This is where ageing comes into play, where the cells try to recover, but fail in doing so correctly. These techniques include the use careful selection of material, the use of cinematography, music and sound effects, sequencing and editing. How Interests And Interactions Shape Science And Technology HOW INTERESTS AND INTERACTIONS SHAPE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Ian Hacking uses the example of dolomite in order to show that human interests do not play a role in science. His belief is that there is nothing less socially constructed than a rock, but this statement does not accurately portray the facts. Dolomite has a long history that involves a number of people and social interests. Each person contributed to the discovery and identification of dolomite and social factors were at play during the scientific process. Hackling starts with the history of dolomite. In 1791, a French geologist, Deodat de Dolomieu, came across a type of limestone in the Tyrolean Alps. Then in 1792, Nicolas Theodor von Saussure named the region and the layer of sedimentary rock after Dolomieu. Saussure then analyzed dolomite; he claimed that it was high in aluminum and held no magnesium. However, this analysis was incorrect and it would take a decade to get the correct analysis. Dolomite is an interesting example because it shows that scientific facts have a social factor that is often ignored. Geologists stuck with Saussure s analysis even though twelve years earlier a scientist by the name of Giovanni Arduino identified dolomite as magnesia limestone (Hacking, 187). Arduino correctly identified dolomite s composition but very few people paid attention to his analysis. Dolomite was named after Dolomieu because he had come across dolomite. One of the main goals of the incident command system (ICS) is to manage resources on the fire grounds. The Incident Command System has a built in accountability system. Proper management of fire ground operations is necessary to achieve and maintain accountability. Accountability through incident command is possible only if it is established from the very beginning of the incident with the arrival of the first unit, officer, or member who establishes command and begins to assign and track incoming resources. Resources that self deploy on the fire ground without the establishment and direction of an overall IC are not operating within incident command, a single incident action plan (IAP), or an accountability system. Any organization that waits for a later arriving officer to show up, establish command, and then attempt to locate and track multiple self deployed resources from scratch is setting that officer and the organization up for failure and, ultimately, a tragic disaster. Forty four percent of the respondents were male, and 56% were female. Seventy eight percent of the respondents were between the ages of twelve and fifteen, while 22% of the respondents were between the ages of sixteen and eighteen. Only about 1 of 10 students (9.8%) said that when Pokemon Go was popular they played every day. However, roughly 3 in 10 students (31.6%) answered that when it was popular their friends played every day. The hypothesis stated: Males play video games significantly more than females. As the results demonstrate, there was a significant difference between males and females with respect to playing Pokemon Go while it was popular ( t= 4.507, p .05). More specifically, males played Pokemon Go at a much higher rate (M= 2.00) than females (M=1.38). Although the results were not as strong, there was also a large difference between males and females with respect to perception of their friends playing (t=2.627, p=.009). The results of this question show that males believe their peers play much more (M= 2.77) than females (M= 2.31). • 30. Doublespeak In The Mastercard Commercial The first unethical tactic used in the MasterCard commercial is misleading doublespeak. According to Larson (1998), doublespeak is language that conceals it underlying meaning in an attempt to misguide. Doublespeak is manipulative because it allows persuaders to represent themselves with positive connotations of words when in reality the underlying principle is negative (Paul and Elder, 2012). In the MasterCard commercial, doublespeak is used particularly in the phrase, a free day to take them all in: priceless. According to Campbell et. al. (2013), the association principle is defined as a tactic in advertising that connects a product to a positive cultural value image, even if the value has little to do with the product. In the World MasterCard commercial, the advertisement creates an enchanted shop where the woman in the commercial experiences blissful happiness because her family is happy and enjoying their time together. This creates an association between MasterCard and family values using enthymeme, which involves argumentation where a premise is filled in by the persuadee (Simons et. al., 2001). The first premise is that enjoying happy times with family is important, and the conclusion is that people with the World MasterCard enjoy good times with their family. Given this, the viewer is prompted to determine that they should have a MasterCard to be happy. People want to fit in and because our culture often asserts that family is important and should be valued, consumers feel pressure to get a credit card to experience a better life with their family. Specifically, MasterCard is subtly claiming that without their credit card, your children won t be laughing and enjoying themselves, your spouse won t be contentedly sighing, and you won t get any hugs. However, the use of a credit card has absolutely no bearing a family s affection for each other. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Americans reacted very negatively to this influx, and their negative sentiments were made apparent in the California Supreme Court s People v. Hall verdict, which rendered Chinese testimony unreliable. Then, in 1882, President Chester Arthur signed the Chinese Exclusion Act, a law that prohibited Chinese laborers from entering the United States (Foner, 651). Include one example of a regional human rights regime (write at least 1 page double spaced)(5 points) The most notable example of a global human rights regime is the United Nations, and an example of regional human rights would be the OAS ( Organization of American States). Both entities have focuses that are quite similar and intersecting. The main goal of the UN is displayed in article 1 of the UN Charter which states to maintain international peace and security . Primary concerns of the UN are security, humanitarian assistance, development, and human rights which is recognized in the Universal Declaration of Rights by the UN. However, before there was the UN declaration there was the American Declaration on the Rights and Duties of Man . Despite the similarities both institutions possess there are differences that are apparent in the utilitarian function of each. The UN has a universal influence and system of play, and the OAS plays a smaller role looking over only its specific geographical region of the Americas. While both aim to influence policy and the promotion of human rights there are advantages that come with their differences. • 37. Ronaldo s Acceptance Of Goods By Benjamin 5. Ronaldo s acceptance of goods by Benjamin Here arises the issue of whether Benjamin had the authority to sale the cargo to Ronaldo. It can be claimed that there are two opinions on this subject. On the one hand Benjamin never became lawful holder of the shipment under s.19(3) of SOGA 1979 and as a result he had no right on the goods property. This fact and in combination with s.21(1) gives no property to Ronaldo. On the other hand Ronaldo can rely on s.25(1), as Benjamin did not notice him regarding his previous transaction with Maurice. Benjamin got the cargo from Maurice in good faith33, which also happened with Ronaldo receiving the same Bill of Lading from Benjamin in line with the definitions given in s.2(1) s.2(4), paying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, if we take the view that property had not passed to Benjamin, then s.39(2) also gives Maurice the right of stoppage of the goods as s.41(c) s.44 confirm that the unpaid seller Maurice has exercisable rights on the goods. However, what confuses the case is that Benjamin had already sold the cargo to Ronaldo. If Maurice had taken action against Benjamin prior to the re sale, then no such issue would have arisen, as the property would be an issue between these two parties which means that Maurice could exercise his aforementioned rights against him , but now a third person has the title of the goods and has nothing to do with the conflict between Benjamin and Maurice since he acted in good faith. Accordingly, under s.43(1)(b) Maurice s rights on the cargo cease to exist, since Ronaldo lawfully obtained the bill of lading by Benjamin. In support of his statement s.47(2)(a) also provides that no lien, retention or stoppage can be exercised on the consignment. To sum up, since the action against Benjamin was effected after Ronaldo had acquired the title of the goods, Maurice had no right on the cargo. 8. • 39. The Change Process Essay At the beginning of the change process, a crucial aspect for Ghosn was the importance and the need for an open communication in both directions: from upper management to lower management and vice versa. Before he took over the position of the COO at Nissan, he traveled to Japan to gather information from the lower level management up to the top level management. Clampitt, DeKoch, and Cushman outlined different communication strategies, which can be found in Ghosn s communication style. They authors defined the communication strategies based on communication effectiveness and amount of informational transmitted and emphasized that leaders can use the strategies simultaneously (Palmer et al., 2009, p. 305). In the case of Nissan, Ghosn followed the device of transparency to regain credibility, and thus he transmitted an enormous amount of information. Furthermore, the communication effectiveness was middle to high since Ghosn provided detailed information to the people involved in the change. He wanted to avoid confusions, and thus he shared a maximum of information (Hughes et al., 2003, p. 6). Ghosn also engaged people being a part of the change discussion, as an example: He defined the CFTs, which had the challenge to identify the change actions and obstacles. Thus, Ghosn s communication strategy (at least based on the case study) was a mix of tell and sell and underscore and explore (Palmer et al., 2009, p. 306). Plamer et al. It s tragic to mention that juvenilization of poverty coincides with feminization of poverty because mothers are always expected to nurture and raise the kids, as it is explained in the theory of functionalism. A 1992 UN report discovered the number of rural women living in poverty in the developing countries has increased by almost 50% over the past 20 years to an awesome 565 million. Josh Cohen Mrs. Hallstrom English Honors 4 8 May 2016 Slaughterhouse Five and its Depiction of Key World War II Events Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse Five is an interesting but complicated novel about a man bouncing through time and space. The novel is a satire with elements of science fiction, although Kurt Vonnegut incorporates into the plot some of his actual experiences as a World War II soldier and prisoner of war. Vonnegut s lead character and protagonist is Billy Pilgrim, a person who time travels throughout the novel. Vonnegut brings the readers along on Billy s wild and unpredictable journey which goes in several different directions. While this complicates the story, Vonnegut keeps returning to the theme of war by returning Billy back to his time as a soldier during World War II. Vonnegut devotes significant portions of Slaughterhouse Five to the war theme, capturing the zeitgeist of World War II through vivid and highly accurate depictions of key events such as the Battle of the Bulge, the use of boxcars to transport prisoners of war, and the bombing of Dresden by the Allied forces. By transporting Billy back to the Battle of the Bulge, Vonnegut effectively captures the harsh realities of this significant and vitally important World War II event.
