to imitate her fingers as a way to communicate. First, Anne had to teacher Helen how to properly
behave before being able to teach her the proper way of communicating and understanding. For
example, Helen had the tendency to touch everyone s food on the table, but Miss Sullivan vividly
showed her how to properly use her spoon and to sit down at the table. Though, one part of the

What Are The Challenges Of A Senior Team Leader
Introduction:
The World Health Organization (WHO) is one of the United Nations (UN) agencies. WHO is
working in 150 countries with the mission to provide a healthier life (WHO 2016). The WHO s
working strategy is to work with governments and other local and international partners to achieve
their mutual health related goals (WHO 2016). To obtain these goals, strong leadershipskills and
understanding of the local problems is critical for anyone in a decision making position.
Mendenhall et al (2012) deliberated that leaders who lead teams at an international level must have
the capability to bring change in the organization by not only creating strong linkages within their
teams, but also involve with internal and external stakeholders, including counterparts, other
leaders, the people from the various governments and organizations they work with. This requires
cross cultural understanding and the ability to work within and across different sectors. For
example, not only health, but also governance and education.
This paper examines the challenges (which may be) experienced by an official who is recently
appointed as a senior team leader in the WHO in Geneva, during the first thirty days of leaders
engagement. A leader needs to focus on four domains 1) creating

Paris in the 1920’s – “The Lost Generation” Essay
Paris in the 1920 s The Lost Generation
Between the end of the First World War and Hitler s seizure of power a cultural explosion
occurred in Paris that altered our notions of art and reality and shaped our way of viewing the
world ever since. In the 1920 s, Paris became the undisputed international capital of pleasure and
was regarded as the cultural and artistic center of Europe with a reputation for staging one of its
most glamorous eras, as well as some of the most spectacular revues in the world. Imagine for a
moment, that it really is 1920 s Paris. You are leisurely strolling through the gas lit promenades.

expatriates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By the end of the decade, statistics revealed that there were as many as thirty thousand artists in
Paris alone.
The Lost Generation is essentially a term that is used to describe the young adults of the 1920 s
who were changing with the times and rebelling against what America had become after the war.
They populated areas like Paris and London where they expected to find literary freedom and a
cosmopolitan way of life. The Lost Generation of American writers and poets left America,
seeking refuge from the broken culture and devastation that had come from the war, and ended
up in Paris, a city that had a thriving art culture where they could write freely and lavish in the
Bohemian lifestyle without rules. They drank, traveled, had love affairs, and wrote. They were
influenced by the paintings of artists like Dada and Picasso and collected their works, as well as
socialized with them. They critiqued each other s writing and often met in bookstores, cafГ©s,
and bars to talk about their works and life in general. They had mostly upper middle class
upbringings and were sustained in hard times by their parents fortunes. They chose to come to
Paris to seek artistic fulfillment and ended up writing what is possibly considered some of the best
fiction of the 20th century. It was the time when writers, painters, musicians, and composers went to

Air Force Core Values
In the early 1990 s the Chief of staff, Merrill A. McPeak, originally posted the six core values of
the United States Air Force which consisted of integrity, tenacity, courage, patriotism, competence,
and service. It wasn t until a few years later that those six core values were merged into three. The
three core values; integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do were officially
embraced by the United StatesAir Force in January of 1995 in order to define the type of character
expected from those within the branch of service (Lt Col Tower, P., Lt Col Dunford, D, n.d.).
Today these core values are the three basic fundamentals of life in the family known as the United
States Air Force. Every person in the United States... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Air Force defines integrity as always doing what is right even when no one is looking
(United States Air Force core values, 1997). Integrity itself is built off of many different key
traits; honesty, kindness, generosity, courage, responsibility and having respect not only for
others but yourself as well. Those are just some of the key traits. I will give prime examples of
each trait mentioned above from my own personal life to help you better understand integrity.
The first trait I would like to review with you is honesty. There are many different aspects of
honestly. It could be as simple as telling someone how you really feel or admitting to a mistake
you may have made in your life. Several years back, I was riding my bicycle at a high rate of
speed and flew around a sharp corner. I came around the corner so fast that I crashed my bicycle
into a brand new car that just happened to be parked on the side of the road. As you can
imagine, I flew over my handle bars and landed on the car. The accident left minor damage to
vehicle, but no one was around. I could have easily rode off and pretended it never happened,
though that would not have been the honest nor the right thing to do. I spoke with the owner of the
car and made arrangements to pay him back for the damage. Honesty is a key trait you must have

The Effect Of Latest Laws On Texting And Driving
Introduction
Recent laws outlawing texting while driving have become ambiguous, under inclusive and enforce
light punishments that cannot be deterred. These laws also empower the police to carry out
warrantless search for the cell phone of the driver. Texting while driving is highly dangerous and
people doing so must be punished strictly, license suspensions, interlock devices preventing the
usage of cell phones while driving and possible jail time (Arrigo, 2014). This particular paper is an
attempt to evaluate the effectiveness of latest laws implemented against texting and driving.
Texting and Driving
There has been a rising concern in the last few years about the potential dangers accompanying
texting while driving associated largely with the increasing number of highway fatalities.
Significant efforts have been made by The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration
(NHTSA) for curtailing distracted driving including texting while driving along with public service
information and announcements. As per NHTSA, driving distractions are of three different forms
like manual, visual and cognitive. Manual driving distractions take off the driver s hands off from
the steering wheel (Kirszner Mandell, 2010).
Visual driving distractions take off the driver s eyes off from the road and cognitive driving
distractions take off the mind of the driver from driving. It has been stated by NHTSA that since
text messaging needs visual, cognitive and manual attention on part

Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome Analysis
As I trudged through the halls of Wolfson Children s Hospital, I slowly sipped on a white, chalky
liquid. My doctor tried to persuade me it would taste identical to the sweet and refreshing Crystal
Light drink, but with every swallow, my stomach became more and more queasy, and I was not
convinced. This large drink that took me what felt like days to finish was part of the upper
gastrointestinal series and just one of the many tests I was subject to on the long journey of being
diagnosed with the rare disorder, Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome. This illness kept me up night after
night with severe nausea leading to vomiting every ten to fifteen minutes, and ultimately a trip to

was incredibly hard, it gave me an intense compassion and a love to want to help others. Two
years ago, I had the privilege to attend a mission trip to Costa Rica with my church. One day,
while staying in the small, impoverished town of Alajuelita we visited an orphanage for children
with disabilities. As soon as I walked into the building, my eyes immediately fell upon a beautiful,
young girl who was squirming on her bed while yelling at the top of her lungs. I was informed that

Western Humanities Midterm Essay
During the course I realized how large of a role art plays in helping create cultures and developing
and preserving the history of civilizations. I find it interesting that when there s no written history
or any historical buildings, cultures will always make their own ancient past grander than what it
really is. The Israelites, the Greeks and Romans all tell stories of their history that has no written
proof. It seems that we as people want to have a connection to our roots and to understand where
we come from. This is why I believe that most people want to believe in a higher power.

Until now, I didn t realize how much Islam influenced art and practically kick started science. I
learned that the Abbasid caliphs established the House of Wisdom, a center of leaning and science.
They gathered manuscripts in Greek and Sanskrit along with scholars who could understand and
translate them from the areas that they conquered.
The Abbasids were the first ones to study and translate important Greek and Indian mathematical
book like Euclid s geometry text the Elements. They adopted a very Greek approach to
mathematics of formulating theorems precisely and proving them formally in Euclid s ways.
Islamists wrote many influential books on mathematics of algebra that we still use today. One of
the books described how to write numbers in calculations using the place value decimal system
which is what we use today. This concept was developed in India in A.D. 600 s which was
translated and adopted by Arabic mathematicians. About 300 years later this book was translated
into Latin and it became the major source for European academics to learn the new system. This
system is known as the Hindu Arabic system which is taught to schoolchildren around the world. It
s amazing that a system of calculations was brought to Europe from practically the other side of the
world. I wonder how long it would have taken to figure out the same system without Muslim
involvement.
I find it fascinating how almost a millennia ago

Canned biscuits and rolls had been developed by Southern companies that recognized there was
money to be made selling traditional culture back to a rapidly changing region, he writes.
Convenience foods allowed consumers to serve foods that reflected the regions past but could be
produced with low cost with new efficiency. Fast foodchains began to pop up across the south mid
century. Harland Sanders opened Kentucky Fried Chickenin 1952 and sold southern style biscuits

In Vitro Gametogenesis Essay
In America, we are groomed from childhood to believe that one day we will grow up and have
children. This is instilled in our youth through children s toys such as baby dolls that teach young
girls to care for a child and by playing house . Sadly, for many this is an unattainable goal. Due to
medical complications or inability to find a suitable mate, many must resort to other means, such as
adoption or artificial insemination to reach this goal. However, even with these alternatives, many
remain unable to become parents. Science may be able to change this through the use of In Vitro
Gametogenesis.
Claim: The United States Federal Government should fund research for In Vitro Gametogenesis
(IVG).
Grounds: The use of In Vitro Gametogenesis will help many families who dream of procreating
but are physically incapable of doing so. IVG would allow a sperm cell or an egg to be created out

Bitzer stated that exigence, which was capable of modification by way of discourse was needed

procreate biologically, as well as whether the ability to choose genetic traits for offspring would put
couples who can afford the treatment method at an unfair advantage over individuals who cannot
afford such methods. Additionally, the question rises of whether the embryos that are created but
not used in the procreation should be destroyed, donated, or frozen (Bourne, Douglas, Savulescu,
2012). As these questions are based on morality and ethics, as opposed to statistics and data, they
can be resolved through rhetorical dialogue and

Compare And Contrast In The Grove And The Return Of Martin...
Throughout this semester we read numerus of text relating to this semester enduring question what
do we know, and how can we know our understanding is reliable? with this question in hand I

the second text being The Return of Martin Guerreby Natalie Zemon Davis. Both books have
multiple people telling multiple stories hence what do we know and how do we know what is
true form who is telling us these things. The different tales we hear in both stories exemplifies
different methods for pursing knowledge. The Return of Martin Guerre by Natalie Zemon
Davis we hear a tale of a man named Arnaud du Tilh who takes advantage of a village with a long
lost man by the name of Martin Guerre. The village was overwhelmed with joy to see that Martin
had returned the towns people over looked the difference in his appearance then what he looked
like when he had left. The village had believed him because he had told the stories they had

as a child; values of loyalty, dedication, and compassion. Throughout my undergraduate career, I
have discovered what is truly important in life and the impact I want to make in my community.
I have found I have a strong desire to serve others, to help them and to make a tangible difference

HONG KONG
Introduction
Unquestionably, Hong Kong is a blessed land where possesses prosperity and most of the elements
of being a world class cosmopolitan which has successfully attracted visitors over years, especially
from the mainland by emphasising our world class shopping, dining and other urban attractions
(Lam, H., 2004). Despite the flourishing scene of the tourism industry, the volatile tourist markets
and growing competition from Southeast Asian countries and neighbouring destinations have posed
new challenges to Hong Kong s tourism industry.

Despite these efforts, several problems are found regarding Hong Kong s culture and heritage
sustainability policy. It is found that Hong Kong has been relatively slow in developing its
potential heritage sites into tourist attractions, as seen in the controversy over the fate of Tiger
Balm Garden and the Central Police Station. According to Chu and Uebegang (2002), the sluggish
and passive response of government reflects the lack of political will due to a lack of
understanding of the principles of heritage and its potential. The Government believes heritage
conservation should be driven by tourism and economics and not treated in the same way as other
social and education services. Even with the setting up of Heritage Tourism Task Force which is
established in 1998, there have been very few recommendations proposed by the task force. Some
critics have blamed on its lack of leadership and lack of influence in the government bureaucracy
(Chu and Uebegang, 2002). Other problems implied in the policy of government are lack of a
broad based, long term conservation policy, lack of a clear priorities and inadequate co ordination
of government departments involved in present heritage conservation practice. Besides, in most
cultural heritage development, public involvement in decision making is absent.
Regarding these problem, it is essential for

The And Its Impact On The Future
The man, a little being compared to the Universe, often feels threatened by wars, comets, natural
phenomena and all those dates that contain repeating numbers that seem to bring the end of the
world, but truly the end comes? To this day, many predictions about the end of the world have
emerged, but none has come true, that is why it has always existed and will probably continue to
exist that doubt about what will happen to the world in the future. The end has been predicted by
scientists, ancient civilizations, different religions, and many others. For example, Nostradamus
was one of the most famous scientists that wrote many prophecies and events about the future,
his predictions are known worldwide and have impacted societies; as him, there are other
scientists such as Isaac Newton, Stephen Hawking, and Richard Noone. Moreover, the Mayans,
an ancient civilization, known as one of the most advanced civilizations in the field of
mathematics, astronomy, physics and arts; they are also known for predicting that the world
would end of December 21, 2012. Perhaps, this was one of the most famous prophecies in recent
times. Also, different religions such as the Jehovah s Witnesses has predicted many times the end
of the world. The impact of this topic is very well known, many people have been influenced
greatly. Even Hollywood have been carried away by those predictions and theories, creating
movies such as The day after tomorrow or 2012 , where they show what would happen.

Elizibethan Religious Settlement Essay
Elizabethan Religious Settlement
The Elizabethan Religious Settlement was Elizabeth I s response to the religious divisions
created over the reigns of Henry VIII, Edward VI and Mary I. This response, described as The
Revolution of 1559 ,[1] was set out in two Acts of the Parliament of England. The Act of
Supremacy of 1559 re established the Church of England s independence from Rome, with
Parliament conferring on Elizabeth the title Supreme Governor of the Church of England, while the
Act of Uniformity of 1559 set out the form the English church would now take, including the
establishment of the Book of Common Prayer.

The queen also appointed a new Privy Council, removing many Roman Catholic counsellors by

controversial after her death. Act of Uniformity
The Act of Uniformity 1558, which required the population to attend Sunday service in an
Anglican church, at which a new version of the Book of Common Prayer was to be used, passed
by only three votes.[5] The Bill of Uniformity was more cautious than the initial Reformation
Bill. It revoked the harsh laws proposed against Roman Catholics, it removed the abuse of the
Pope from the litany and kept the wording that allowed for both a subjective and objective belief
in the Real Presence in the Communion. After Parliament was dismissed, Elizabeth, along with
Cecil, drafted what are known as the Royal Injunctions, 1559. These were additions to the
settlement and largely stressed some continuity with the Catholic past: ministers were ordered to
wear the surplice; wafers, as opposed to ordinary baker s bread, were to be used as the bread at
Communion. There had been opposition to the settlement in the shires, which for the most part
were largely Roman Catholic, so the changes are often said to have been made in order to allow

The Culture Of The Caribbean
The Caribbean is a widely known tourist attraction, and in the center of the Caribbean is a small
island named Haiti. Home to about ten million people, this island country serves as a exports a
variety of goods from cocoa to clothing around the world but mainly to the United States. But
behind their massive amounts of exports there is plenty of history behind how the country was
formed and important events that led to its independence and creation of the Government. Haitiwas
unexpectedly found by Christopher Columbus. While trying to sail and find a faster route from
Europe to India, he ran into the CaribbeanIslands instead. Haiti s first name was Hispaniola,
named by the native Taino that lived there before French and Spanish settlers that landed there.
During the 18th century Haiti was one of the wealthiest islands in the Caribbean due to its
exportation of sugar. During that time there was also a large population of slaves that lived there.
Nearly a half a million slaves lived in Haiti during that time. Due to the amount of slaves and the
way they were treated by the European slave owners, a rebel group led by Toussaint l Ouverture
ended slaveryin Haiti and gained independence in 1804. The Western Imperialism in Haiti turned
out to be a mishap and ended up dismantling and dividing the country.
Due to the small size of the country, Christopher Columbus was able set up a settlement on the
north coast of Hispaniola easily, although it was later destroyed by the natives.

Essay about Burial Rituals of Native American Culture
Burial Rituals of Native American Culture
At some point in our lives, we all come to realize that death is a part of life. Cultural diversity
provides a wide variety of lifestyles and traditions for each of the unique groups of people in our
world. Within these different cultures, the rituals associated with death and burial can also be
uniquely diverse. Many consider ritualistic traditions that differ from their own to be somewhat
strange and often perceive them as unnatural. A prime example would be the burial rituals of the
Native American people. Leslie Marmon Silko s story entitled The Man to Send Rain Clouds
describes a funeral service carried out by a Native American Pueblo family. Though many perceive

The feather tied to his hair is a prayer feather and the painting of the face is to ensure that he will
be recognized in the next world by his ancestors who have crossed over before him. The colors
are representative of the earth, sky, sun and water. The sprinkling of corn meal and water are
said to provide the dead with nourishment on their journey to the next world. The pollen is
representative of the earth s renewal from the rainclouds that will be sent back by the spirit of
the deceased. Silko frequently refers to a red blanket that the old man is wrapped in for burial
(149). The Native American people often leave a cord hanging from the blanket which wraps
the body of the deceased and is thought to provide a way for the spirit to be released into the
afterlife. All Native American cultures have strong beliefs in life after death, although the means
of reaching the next life may vary from tribe to tribe. They traditionally believe that death is a
part of a natural cycle in which their spirits are transported back and forth between this world and
the spirit world so that they can bring renewal and new life when they return. Most consider this
transition to be an honor or privilege since it will ensure the survival of their people. In Native
American culture, it is believed that neglect of tribal rituals can result in death and sickness, because
the spirit returns without blessings, having been unable to enter the other world. According

The Issue Of Abortion And Abortion
Abortion is one of the most debatable and controversial issues that exists in our society. An
abortion is a medical procedure that terminates a pregnancy before 24 weeks. People who call
themselves Pro Life feel that it is the government s responsibility to preserve all life, regardless of
concerns for the pregnant woman s health, or for the quality of the life of the child. The Pro Choice
argument feels that a woman should have the choice when it comes to what they wish to do with
their own reproductive organs.
There s many arguments regarding abortions. One of many is that adoption is a viable alternative
to abortion. This statement implies that the only reason a woman would want to get an abortion is
to avoid raising a child, and that isn t the case. Depending on the circumstances, the mere act of
having a child in a hospital can cost between $3,000 and $37,000 in the United States. Giving birth
is dangerous, too: In the United States, pregnancy complications are the sixth most common cause
of death for women between the ages of 20 and 34.
Another misconception often thought about abortions is If a woman has sex, she has to pay the
consequences. Too many women have abortions for their own convenience or on impulse. Pro
Life activists leave no room for the grey area, which is unfair. Did you know over 2 thirds of
women who have abortions were on birth control or using protection. And what about the women
who are abstinent but were raped or victim to incest. I believe

Justice And Justice In Just Mercy, By Bryan Stevenson
In the novel, Just Mercy, by Bryan Stevenson, it is extremely apparent that there is a link between
poverty, wealth, injustice, and justice. This book incorporates a strong theme of poverty and how it
relates to justice, as well as injustice. Furthermore, it very apparently works to explain and provide
examples of problems within the justicesystem, and the urgency that these be corrected. One major
problem being poverty in relation to obtaining justice. This being said, throughout my personal
reading of the book, I have come to agree with Stevenson s statement, the opposite of poverty is not
wealth; the opposite of poverty is justice (Stevenson 18).
Walter McMillian, a man falsely convicted for a crime, experienced an immense amount of
injustices originally fueled from his race and societal status.
I felt the need to explain to people what Walter had taught me. Walter made me understand why we
have to reform a system of criminal justice that continues to treat people better if they are rich and
guilty than if they are poor and innocent. A system that denies the poor the legal help they need,
that makes wealth and status more important than culpability, must be changed. (Stevenson 313)
What I have interpreted this as, is the court system is trying to get through these things as quickly
as possible, as well as try to convict someone as quickly as possible to give the community a sense
of reassurance that a murderer is off the streets. Furthermore, if the

Dickinson s main forms of syntactical variation in the poem revolve around her use of dashes and
enjambment. To elaborate, the second stanza of the poem, rife with rhyme, utilizes enjambment to
further emphasize the seemingly endless investigation presented in the poem. The first three lines
of the stanza, I turned my Being round and round / And paused at every pound / To ask the
Owner s name , are devoid of any punctuation until the dash at the end of the third line. This
emphasizes the feeling of disorientation noted in the previous paragraph, especially considering
the rest of the poem is littered with dashes which force Dickinson s readers to slow their reading
with no notice whatsoever. However, the use of dashes in I felt my life

The film begins with a view in long shot of Los Angeles in 2019 as a dystopia. In the middle of
the dark and crowded city, under the blackened sky and blanket upon blanket of rain, are several

Summary Of Beethoven Sonata First Movement

Fall 2014
Beethoven s Waldstein Sonata First Movement
Piano Sonata No. 21 in C major, Opus 53 is one of the most technically challenging and
compositionally ambitious piano sonatas by Beethoven. The name of the sonata, Waldstein , is
derived from Beethoven s dedication, Count Ferdinand Ernst Gabriel von Waldstein of Vienna, a
long time close friend and patron of the composer. Composed from 1803 to 1804, it is one of the
most important pieces of Beethoven s middle period and surpasses all the earlier sonatas in scope,
power, and energy. Like many other major pieces around the time the piece was composed,
Beethoven was constantly augmenting the sonata form, giving significantly more ... Show more

The key characteristic of this five note cell is that it is entirely composed of step wise motion. This
feature would affect the melodic and harmonic choices of the movement s composition, as the
movement is almost entirely built on step wise motion. Because of the step wise quality of the
movement, the primary harmonic motion is an oscillation between tonic and dominant chords.
The movement begins quite solidly in C major as the first component of the theme (figure 2),
which we will call component A, is a repeating eight note C major chord which hammers the tonic
tonality into the listeners minds. This component ends with an ascending three note step wise
motion in the right hand into the dominant of the key, with the second note being a sharpened F,
temporarily tonalicizing the dominant, suggesting the idea to the listeners that the beginning C
major chords may instead be serving a subdominant function to G. In measure 3 and 4, the left
descends into B, serving as a bridge to the upcoming flat VII to smooth out the jarring key shift.
We will call the right hand motif in measure 3 as component B and the one in measure 4 as
component C. All three motifs would come back later as important building blocks of the
movement. Beethoven confuses the listeners further as we progress into measure 5. The first four
measures are repeated, but the music

A Review On Thing Net Works
In numerous genuine applications, other than the input and thing content data, there may exist
relations (or systems) among the things which can likewise be useful for proposal. For instance, in
the event that we need to prescribe papers (references) to clients in Cite ULike, the reference
relations between papers are useful for suggesting papers with comparable subjects. Different case
of thingnet works can be found in hyperlinks among site pages, motion pictures coordinated by the

Climate Change Is Induced By Man s Carelessness And Lack...
Climate change is the acceleration in regular surface temperatures on Earth. Even small increments
in Earth s temperature provoked by climate change can have serious effects. The Earth s median
temperature has gone up 1.4 ВєF over the past century and is awaited to rise as much as 11.5 ВєF
over the next (Banerjee, 2015). That might not look like a lot, but the average temperature during
the last ice Age was about 4 ВєF lower than it is today. The climate of the planet is constantly
changing. This change is not something new; it is a very old concept, perhaps since the birth of the
universe. The factors or deduction for the climate changecan be split into two sides. One side is of
the opinion that this is a natural course that will and has to develop, whereas the other side
believes that the change has taken place because of the human activities on the earth. Climate
change is induced by man s carelessness and lack of interest. We need to make a change in order to
provide a safe environment for future generations.
Currently, scientists are changing their opinion and saying that the process of development is
natural. some well known people, for instance, Nobel Prize Winning Stanford University

Reflection About Love
Driven by our most basic human instincts, the act of finding love is often associated with
sacredness and is frequently regarded as a divine act that is to be cherished. The notion of love is
a universal principle that is responsible for the existence and preservation of society, lays out the
foundation for all human actions, undergirds the innate behaviour of human beings, and can be
regarded as the aspiration and source of all human striving. As a result of the intrinsic ability and
humanistic quality of giving and feeling love, it is without question that this universal feeling is the
supreme concern of all human beings. Symposium is a unique literary work and a transcendent
masterpiece by the venerable Plato, written on the foundation of one of the most prominent and
basic themes and primitive subject matters known to mankind love. In this classical Ancient Greek
disquisition, six distinguished Athenians employ story, lyric, and verse in the form of speeches, to
convey a variety of legends and motifs regarding the nature, function, and capacity of love (Eros).
These ancient dissertations centered around the phenomenon of love, present sublime subject
matter, abstract content and oratorical power that has seized my mind, stirred my thoughts, and
allowed me to deeply examine my personal insights regarding love.
In the English language and Western culture, love is a remarkably far reaching, extensive term that
can be taken in a number of contexts. In contemporary

An Example Of The Salt March
An example of a non violent movement is the Salt March led by Mahatma Gandhi. This march
happened in March 1930 in protest of the British rule. Thousands followed Gandhi for 240 miles to
the sea. Mahatma Gandhi thought that by breaking the British Salt Act, that Indians cannot collect
or sell salt, he could break the law without any violence. Because of the heavy taxes that the British
positioned on salt there was a mass civil disobedienceand support for the salt march all around
India. Millions of civilians became involved and the British responded by arresting more than
60,000 of them. Gandhi declared the Salt March as the theme for his new campaign, Satyagrahaor
Civil Disobedience. Gandhi was released in 1931 and agreed to call of his campaign in exchange
for a negotiation role in a conference in London regarding India s future.

Diversity in Comics Over the years, comic books have reflected what has been happening in the

During the cold war, they fought the Soviets. Comics have brought a light to heavy topics that

This can be seen with beauty standards and stereotypes. This also applies to what s common.
Often you will hear people complain about there being too many gay characters in media, this
can also be applied to minority characters. The reality is that people are just not accustomed to
this diversity in media. Another issue is that people who are in these minorities aren t getting
represented so they are led to believe that their struggles are unique. This can be harmful and
lead to a multitude of issues. Representation is important. Comic books are a type of media and
minorities should be represented. As said earlier, comic books reflect life. So why should it not
reflect the diversity of everyday life. One of the common arguments you will hear is that
changing characters and adding diversity drives fans away. The only fans it honestly will ever
drive away are old fans holding onto old stereotypes. What drives away fans is bad writing. So in
the end the only ones who don t want change in comics ar the people who don t want change in

Discovering Personal Identity
Along with relationships, especially personal ones, adoptees can find themselves trying to figure
out this question: Have you ever heard the saying, you have to love yourself before you can love
someone else? Theres one caveat to that; who are you? Discovering personal identity is
something that can start as young as 18 to 30 month old toddlers. (Oswalt) Recognizing personal
attributes about yourself, hair color, name, age, eye color, gender, etc are all forms of self
conception, or labels children use to describe themselves. (Oswalt) Though this shows the physical
identification this doesn t show emotional development in finding personal identity. I myself, had
my name changed when I was adopted. Your name is one of the biggest forms of

Accountants Earn On Average Of 67,190 Annually, According
Accountants earn on average of 67,190 annually, according to the U. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Average growth rate in the field is 11%, surpassing other job rate growths. As long as the economy

field, there are different career options, including public accounting, private accounting, and

The accounting profession has implemented technology in countless ways. The IRS has encouraged
electric filing (e filing) for submitting tax returns (Whittenburg Gill, 2017). Updated information for
tax rates, amounts for personal and dependency exemptions, Generally Accepted Accounting
Principles (GAAP) rules, are currently available via the World Wide Web. Many programs, such as
Excel, act as financial calculators and perform financial formulas fast and error free. Accounting
software programs are coded to use algorithms in synthesizing information, organizing information,
and displaying information for users. As technology advances, increasingly sophisticated algorithms
and functions become available. In my company, information from every department s programs is
imported into the software program that the finance department uses. This automated feature
enables each department to employ the technology that achieves its efficacy. Additionally, computer
technology maximizes available resources. Real time data and financials are now obtainable

Inhumanity Theme In Night
In the memoir Night, the narrator Elie Wiesel recounts a moment when he started to lose his
faith due to his experiences at the concentration camps, for example, ВЁ But now, I was no
longer able to lament. On the contrary, I felt very strong. I was no longer able to lament God the
accused. My eyes had opened and i was alone, terribly alone in a world without God, without
man,ВЁ (Wiesel 68). Wiesel was a very faithful and hopeful boy but due to his experiences in the
concentration camp, he lost his faith in God and in others. He believed that there was no God
because of the things he would see and the overwhelming inhumanity he would suffer. Two
significant themes related to inhumanity discussed in the book Night by Elie Wieselare loss of faith
and becoming closer to loved ones.
One theme in Nght is that inhumanity can cause loss of faith. To clarify, Wiesel lost his faith in
god and in men. He saw the pain and inhumanity in the camps. He saw no hope. Wiesel says,

Wiesel and his father quickly became reliant on each other for survival in the camps. For a ration
of bread i was able to exchange cots to be next to my father, (Wiesel 108). Wiesel traded food
which he desperately needed to live in order to be next to his father. Wiesel gave up something
very valuable for him. In addition, Wiesel s father never showed his feelings before the camps.
He didn t have good bonds with his family. My father was a cultured man, rather unsentimental.
He rarely displayed his feelings, not even within family, and was more involved with the welfare
of others with that of his own kin, (Wiesel 4). He shows that before any of the concentration
camps, Wiesel and his father were never close but when they got in the camps, they both quickly
knew that they needed each other to live and survive. In conclusion, the inhumanity in the camps
causes people to become closer to loved

University Of Chicago University Analysis
The University of Chicago the ideal college that every student deserves. Plenty of support is given
to the students, ranging from tutors, to emergency medical care, therefore getting approval from
my parents. Chicago is a very large city with very unique residents. The University Of Chicago
realizes that their students are sons and daughters, some whom may be far from home. Resources
are provided to help keep their students safe and sane. Uchicago, since the first time I heard about
it, has always been unique and playful, all while having an amazing educational reputation. It is
strange to see that a collegehas a personality. I often explain to my parents that this universityis like

The curriculum is rigorous and factors like being away from home and not knowing anyone can
also add to the anxiety. The University of Chicago provides various resources to keep the students
out of harm s way. When I got the chance to visit the campus, I noticed there were what seemed to
be strange street lights all over campus. These lights were questionable because they said
emergency in big bold letters. Later in the tour, I learned that these streetlights were emergency
phones. If a student felt like they are in any kind of danger, they can go to one of the 380 phones
on campus. As well as the physical safety of the students, the University cares for the mental safety
of the students. The school provides academic support such as student tutoring and even student
counseling services. I think everyone can agree that post secondary education is expensive and may
be impossible for some families. That s why the University s No Barriers program is so great. It
waives the application fee, doesn t make students pull out loans, and relives students of the
financial stress so that they can focus all of their attention on their education. If someone is
always worried about whether they will be able to pay for their next class, instead of studying
their hardest to pass the current class, priorities will be mixed up and scholars won t be able to
reach their full educational

A trend very much in vogue to day in all democratic countries is that only a relatively small part of
the total legislative output emanates directly from the legislature. The bulk of the legislation is
promulgated by the executive and is known as Delegated Legislation.
So a simple definition of Delegated Legislation is that its a type of law which can be made quickly

The Nymph s Reply To The Shepherd Analysis
By seeing the title The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd you know that it is a response to
someone or something that has already been written. In this case, it is true that this poem was a
response to Christopher Marlowe s poem, The Passionate Shepherd to his Love . Both Marlowe
and Sir Raleigh have a different but unique way of writing which makes their poems very similar
but not the same . As you read them both you will clearly understand the question being asked
by Marlowe and the response from Sir Raleigh. These poems symbolize many of the same things
just in different ways, with one being idealistic and one realistic. Both of these poems represent a
point of views from each side of a proposal, even though they have some similar points, they are
more different than similar. By looking closely at both poems, you can see that Marlowe s poem is
based on the Shepherd confessing his loveto a womanand Sir Raleigh s poem is based on the
response from the woman. Both Writers used the flock of sheep in their poem, Marlowe wrote
And we set upon the rock/ seeing shepherds feed their flocks and in response from Sir Raleigh the
woman says Time drives the flocks from field the fold . The love the shepherd has for her is more
like lustthan love. The shepherd is not thinking about the future and what is to come to him, he
is just living in the moment. So when he said they would sit and look at the flock he did not take
into consideration that as time passes the flock begins to move to different fields, as will his
feelings. The Shepherd believes that he is madly in love with her when he says Come with me
and be my love,/ And we will all the pleasures prove . But, not once did he did bring up how she
is, which makes you believe that he did not want her for her but for her looks. As she gets older
her looks will fade and return into dust, his love will fade because she does not look as she did
the woman replys with Thy cap, thy kirtle, and thy posies /Soon break, soon wither, soon
forgotten, / In folly ripe, in reason rotten. Which is stating that all the materialistic stuff he is trying
to tempt her with will fade and wither away just like his love . The woman knows the the love the

Let me ask you a question.
Are you working to live, or living to work?
There was a study done, a hospital study on 100 elderly people facing death close to their last
breath. They were asked to reflect about their life s biggest regret.
Nearly all of them said they regretted not the things they did but the things they didn t do.
The chances they never took, because they were too scared, too tired, too busy, too broke.
Studies show that you will spend 92 120 hours of your life, working.
Let me say that again... you will spend 92 120 hours of your life, working.

The Elizabethan Era was a time that reflect the mood and values of the 16th century though the

The foreign look was the look that society wanted to achieve during the Elizabethan era, for it

that should have been expected was that Queen Elizabeth would have an impacted on the society
that she gave her name to. The one thing that wasn t expected however was the extent to which
Queen Elizabeth would influence fashion. Queen Elizabeth was passionate about fashion and
she spread her love for it through out the kingdom. One of Queen Elizabeth s talents was her
ability to use any situation to her political advantage (Boucher 17). She wanted to be seen as a
person with power and capability and she thought rich cloths would help obtain that opinion. The
rich fabrics and jewels displayed incredible wealth, power and prestige (Leed 1). Wealth and

Hypocrisy In Frederick Douglass
Frederick Douglass was a freed slave in the 1800 s who was famous for his ability to read and

United States. In this speech, he called out the hypocrisy of the nation (Douglass), questioning the
nation s treatment of slaves on a supposed day of independence. Frederick Douglass effectively uses
rhetorical strategies to construct his argument and expose the hypocrisy of the nation. One of the
rhetorical strategies that Douglass uses extremely effectively is the use of rhetorical questions. He
has many of them scattered throughout the speech and they re meant to make the audience

traditions a staple of their lives, yet when it comes to slaves, they seem to go away. He also
believes that, though he will use the severest language (Douglass) he can, he firmly believes that
not one word shall escape me that any man whose... not blinded by prejudice, or... a slave holder,

hypocritical the nation actually is in both one sided values and not acting upon their knowledge that

The size of the board of directors: Hermalin and Weisbach (2003) supposed that the board size is

However, complex firms such as those that are diversified across industries, large in size, or

Therefore, the board size of Boeing with eleven directors in which ten is independent and one is

Boeing when it announced plans to downsize from twenty to twelve board members in 2011 so
that its decision making process will be shortened. Accordingly, the number of board members of
Honda is thirteen in 2013 (Honda 2013). Daimler, however, owns a big size of board members

Argumentative Essay On Doctor Faustus
Paper 2 Death is a topic that many people often like to avoid thinking about as well as avoid
discussing. I believe that this is due to the fact that death is the only thing that we can be certain
of in this life and it is in fact inevitable. Everyone lives up to the point of death and death is a
natural part of life that many people do not want to come to terms with. Many people disregard the
thought of death, whether it be hiding behind their religious views, cultural beliefs, or just overall
spending their life living in denial. Often times death is thought of as an inconvenience, causing
one of the most important events that occur in our life to be ignored. There are many reasons as to
why people will not except death and why this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Knowledge is power, and power absolutely delights Doctor Faustus. Although, there was one thing
that Faustus did not know anything about, necromancy. Necromancy is also known as black
magic, which refers to the dead. His main purpose of turning to black magic was so that he could
have more power. Faustus wishes to become a demigod, which is a minor deity. Becoming a
demigod, and learning about black magic will give Doctor Faustus the ultimate power and
knowledge that he is craving to have.
It is very ironic in my opinion that Doctor Faustus put so much time and effort into receiving his
doctorate degree in Theology, and then essentially throws it all away to learn about necromancy,
which is overall the complete opposite teachings of theology. I believe that his decision was
influenced based upon the simple fact that Faustus knew everything that there was to know about
Theology, as well as God. Therefore, he could not except that this was all that there was to life. He
craved to learn about something that he knew many other individuals, including himself, did not
know about or truly understand, being death.
Death is a part of life that many individuals refuse to understand because of the fact that many
people do not feel as if they are ready to die. If they have not lived a full life, or have not done
everything that they wanted to accomplish, death is not something they want to come face to face
with or even think of. Death makes us open our eyes to all of the

Language Nguage And The Role Of The Second Language...
Second language acquisition has become an increasingly active field of study in the past couple of

Subsequently, knowledge of only one language has become rarely sufficient, resulting in growing

  • 4. What Are The Challenges Of A Senior Team Leader Introduction: The World Health Organization (WHO) is one of the United Nations (UN) agencies. WHO is working in 150 countries with the mission to provide a healthier life (WHO 2016). The WHO s working strategy is to work with governments and other local and international partners to achieve their mutual health related goals (WHO 2016). To obtain these goals, strong leadershipskills and understanding of the local problems is critical for anyone in a decision making position. Mendenhall et al (2012) deliberated that leaders who lead teams at an international level must have the capability to bring change in the organization by not only creating strong linkages within their teams, but also involve with internal and external stakeholders, including counterparts, other leaders, the people from the various governments and organizations they work with. This requires cross cultural understanding and the ability to work within and across different sectors. For example, not only health, but also governance and education. This paper examines the challenges (which may be) experienced by an official who is recently appointed as a senior team leader in the WHO in Geneva, during the first thirty days of leaders engagement. Paris in the 1920’s – “The Lost Generation” Essay Paris in the 1920 s The Lost Generation Between the end of the First World War and Hitler s seizure of power a cultural explosion occurred in Paris that altered our notions of art and reality and shaped our way of viewing the world ever since. In the 1920 s, Paris became the undisputed international capital of pleasure and was regarded as the cultural and artistic center of Europe with a reputation for staging one of its most glamorous eras, as well as some of the most spectacular revues in the world. By the end of the decade, statistics revealed that there were as many as thirty thousand artists in Paris alone. The Lost Generation is essentially a term that is used to describe the young adults of the 1920 s who were changing with the times and rebelling against what America had become after the war. They populated areas like Paris and London where they expected to find literary freedom and a cosmopolitan way of life. The Lost Generation of American writers and poets left America, seeking refuge from the broken culture and devastation that had come from the war, and ended up in Paris, a city that had a thriving art culture where they could write freely and lavish in the Bohemian lifestyle without rules. They drank, traveled, had love affairs, and wrote. They were influenced by the paintings of artists like Dada and Picasso and collected their works, as well as socialized with them. They critiqued each other s writing and often met in bookstores, cafГ©s, and bars to talk about their works and life in general. They had mostly upper middle class upbringings and were sustained in hard times by their parents fortunes. They chose to come to Paris to seek artistic fulfillment and ended up writing what is possibly considered some of the best fiction of the 20th century. It was the time when writers, painters, musicians, and composers went to Paris to work and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

McPeak, originally posted the six core values of the United States Air Force which consisted of integrity, tenacity, courage, patriotism, competence, and service. It wasn t until a few years later that those six core values were merged into three. The three core values; integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do were officially embraced by the United StatesAir Force in January of 1995 in order to define the type of character expected from those within the branch of service (Lt Col Tower, P., Lt Col Dunford, D, n.d.). The Air Force defines integrity as always doing what is right even when no one is looking (United States Air Force core values, 1997). Integrity itself is built off of many different key traits; honesty, kindness, generosity, courage, responsibility and having respect not only for others but yourself as well. Those are just some of the key traits. I will give prime examples of each trait mentioned above from my own personal life to help you better understand integrity. The first trait I would like to review with you is honesty. There are many different aspects of honestly. It could be as simple as telling someone how you really feel or admitting to a mistake you may have made in your life. Several years back, I was riding my bicycle at a high rate of speed and flew around a sharp corner. I came around the corner so fast that I crashed my bicycle into a brand new car that just happened to be parked on the side of the road. As you can imagine, I flew over my handle bars and landed on the car. The accident left minor damage to vehicle, but no one was around. I could have easily rode off and pretended it never happened, though that would not have been the honest nor the right thing to do. I spoke with the owner of the car and made arrangements to pay him back for the damage. Honesty is a key trait you must have in the Air ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Effect Of Latest Laws On Texting And Driving Introduction Recent laws outlawing texting while driving have become ambiguous, under inclusive and enforce light punishments that cannot be deterred. These laws also empower the police to carry out warrantless search for the cell phone of the driver. Texting while driving is highly dangerous and people doing so must be punished strictly, license suspensions, interlock devices preventing the usage of cell phones while driving and possible jail time (Arrigo, 2014). This particular paper is an attempt to evaluate the effectiveness of latest laws implemented against texting and driving. Texting and Driving There has been a rising concern in the last few years about the potential dangers accompanying texting while driving associated largely with the increasing number of highway fatalities. Significant efforts have been made by The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) for curtailing distracted driving including texting while driving along with public service information and announcements. As per NHTSA, driving distractions are of three different forms like manual, visual and cognitive. Manual driving distractions take off the driver s hands off from the steering wheel (Kirszner Mandell, 2010). Visual driving distractions take off the driver s eyes off from the road and cognitive driving distractions take off the mind of the driver from driving. It has been stated by NHTSA that since text messaging needs visual, cognitive and manual attention on part ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My doctor tried to persuade me it would taste identical to the sweet and refreshing Crystal Light drink, but with every swallow, my stomach became more and more queasy, and I was not convinced. This large drink that took me what felt like days to finish was part of the upper gastrointestinal series and just one of the many tests I was subject to on the long journey of being diagnosed with the rare disorder, Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome. As my mom would wheel me through the hospital, the amount of people I saw suffering from various sicknesses crushed my heart. Even though witnessing this multiple times first hand was incredibly hard, it gave me an intense compassion and a love to want to help others. Two years ago, I had the privilege to attend a mission trip to Costa Rica with my church. One day, while staying in the small, impoverished town of Alajuelita we visited an orphanage for children with disabilities. As soon as I walked into the building, my eyes immediately fell upon a beautiful, young girl who was squirming on her bed while yelling at the top of her lungs. I was informed that she was unable to communicate with anyone and it pained me to think about what she was going through. The entire time my team spent at the orphanage, I sat by her side and rubbed her back to calm her down. It took about thirty minutes until she stopped screaming and became completely ... • 10. Western Humanities Midterm Essay Western Humanities Midterm Essay During the course I realized how large of a role art plays in helping create cultures and developing and preserving the history of civilizations. I find it interesting that when there s no written history or any historical buildings, cultures will always make their own ancient past grander than what it really is. The Israelites, the Greeks and Romans all tell stories of their history that has no written proof. It seems that we as people want to have a connection to our roots and to understand where we come from. This is why I believe that most people want to believe in a higher power. I think that the timeline shows to some extent that art throughout history has been and still is the major form of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Until now, I didn t realize how much Islam influenced art and practically kick started science. I learned that the Abbasid caliphs established the House of Wisdom, a center of leaning and science. They gathered manuscripts in Greek and Sanskrit along with scholars who could understand and translate them from the areas that they conquered. The Abbasids were the first ones to study and translate important Greek and Indian mathematical book like Euclid s geometry text the Elements. They adopted a very Greek approach to mathematics of formulating theorems precisely and proving them formally in Euclid s ways. Islamists wrote many influential books on mathematics of algebra that we still use today. One of the books described how to write numbers in calculations using the place value decimal system which is what we use today. This concept was developed in India in A.D. 600 s which was translated and adopted by Arabic mathematicians. About 300 years later this book was translated into Latin and it became the major source for European academics to learn the new system. This system is known as the Hindu Arabic system which is taught to schoolchildren around the world. It s amazing that a system of calculations was brought to Europe from practically the other side of the world. I wonder how long it would have taken to figure out the same system without Muslim involvement. I find it fascinating how almost a millennia ago ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Convenience foods allowed consumers to serve foods that reflected the regions past but could be produced with low cost with new efficiency. • 12. In Vitro Gametogenesis Essay In America, we are groomed from childhood to believe that one day we will grow up and have children. This is instilled in our youth through children s toys such as baby dolls that teach young girls to care for a child and by playing house . Sadly, for many this is an unattainable goal. Due to medical complications or inability to find a suitable mate, many must resort to other means, such as adoption or artificial insemination to reach this goal. However, even with these alternatives, many remain unable to become parents. Science may be able to change this through the use of In Vitro Gametogenesis. It is found that Hong Kong has been relatively slow in developing its potential heritage sites into tourist attractions, as seen in the controversy over the fate of Tiger Balm Garden and the Central Police Station. The Act of Supremacy of 1559 re established the Church of England s independence from Rome, with Parliament conferring on Elizabeth the title Supreme Governor of the Church of England, while the Act of Uniformity of 1559 set out the form the English church would now take, including the establishment of the Book of Common Prayer. It revoked the harsh laws proposed against Roman Catholics, it removed the abuse of the Pope from the litany and kept the wording that allowed for both a subjective and objective belief in the Real Presence in the Communion. After Parliament was dismissed, Elizabeth, along with Cecil, drafted what are known as the Royal Injunctions, 1559. These were additions to the settlement and largely stressed some continuity with the Catholic past: ministers were ordered to wear the surplice; wafers, as opposed to ordinary baker s bread, were to be used as the bread at Communion. There had been opposition to the settlement in the shires, which for the most part were largely Roman Catholic, so the changes are often said to have been made in order to allow for acceptance of the ... Many consider ritualistic traditions that differ from their own to be somewhat strange and often perceive them as unnatural. A prime example would be the burial rituals of the Native American people. The pollen is representative of the earth s renewal from the rainclouds that will be sent back by the spirit of the deceased. All Native American cultures have strong beliefs in life after death, although the means of reaching the next life may vary from tribe to tribe. They traditionally believe that death is a part of a natural cycle in which their spirits are transported back and forth between this world and the spirit world so that they can bring renewal and new life when they return. Most consider this transition to be an honor or privilege since it will ensure the survival of their people. The Pro Choice argument feels that a woman should have the choice when it comes to what they wish to do with their own reproductive organs. There s many arguments regarding abortions. One of many is that adoption is a viable alternative to abortion. This statement implies that the only reason a woman would want to get an abortion is to avoid raising a child, and that isn t the case. Depending on the circumstances, the mere act of having a child in a hospital can cost between $3,000 and $37,000 in the United States. Justice And Justice In Just Mercy, By Bryan Stevenson In the novel, Just Mercy, by Bryan Stevenson, it is extremely apparent that there is a link between poverty, wealth, injustice, and justice. This book incorporates a strong theme of poverty and how it relates to justice, as well as injustice. Furthermore, it very apparently works to explain and provide examples of problems within the justicesystem, and the urgency that these be corrected. One major problem being poverty in relation to obtaining justice. This being said, throughout my personal reading of the book, I have come to agree with Stevenson s statement, the opposite of poverty is not wealth; the opposite of poverty is justice (Stevenson 18). Walter McMillian, a man falsely convicted for a crime, experienced an immense amount of injustices originally fueled from his race and societal status. I felt the need to explain to people what Walter had taught me. Walter made me understand why we have to reform a system of criminal justice that continues to treat people better if they are rich and guilty than if they are poor and innocent. A system that denies the poor the legal help they need, that makes wealth and status more important than culpability, must be changed. (Stevenson 313) What I have interpreted this as, is the court system is trying to get through these things as quickly as possible, as well as try to convict someone as quickly as possible to give the community a sense of reassurance that a murderer is off the streets. Like many other major pieces around the time the piece was composed, Beethoven was constantly augmenting the sonata form, giving significantly more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The key characteristic of this five note cell is that it is entirely composed of step wise motion. This feature would affect the melodic and harmonic choices of the movement s composition, as the movement is almost entirely built on step wise motion. Because of the step wise quality of the movement, the primary harmonic motion is an oscillation between tonic and dominant chords. The movement begins quite solidly in C major as the first component of the theme (figure 2), which we will call component A, is a repeating eight note C major chord which hammers the tonic tonality into the listeners minds. This component ends with an ascending three note step wise motion in the right hand into the dominant of the key, with the second note being a sharpened F, temporarily tonalicizing the dominant, suggesting the idea to the listeners that the beginning C major chords may instead be serving a subdominant function to G. In measure 3 and 4, the left descends into B, serving as a bridge to the upcoming flat VII to smooth out the jarring key shift. We will call the right hand motif in measure 3 as component B and the one in measure 4 as component C. All three motifs would come back later as important building blocks of the movement. Beethoven confuses the listeners further as we progress into measure 5. The first four measures are repeated, but the music ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even small increments in Earth s temperature provoked by climate change can have serious effects. The Earth s median temperature has gone up 1.4 ВєF over the past century and is awaited to rise as much as 11.5 ВєF over the next (Banerjee, 2015). That might not look like a lot, but the average temperature during the last ice Age was about 4 ВєF lower than it is today. The climate of the planet is constantly changing. This change is not something new; it is a very old concept, perhaps since the birth of the universe. The factors or deduction for the climate changecan be split into two sides. One side is of the opinion that this is a natural course that will and has to develop, whereas the other side believes that the change has taken place because of the human activities on the earth. Climate change is induced by man s carelessness and lack of interest. We need to make a change in order to provide a safe environment for future generations. Currently, scientists are changing their opinion and saying that the process of development is natural. some well known people, for instance, Nobel Prize Winning Stanford University Physicist Dr. Robert B. • 36. Reflection About Love Driven by our most basic human instincts, the act of finding love is often associated with sacredness and is frequently regarded as a divine act that is to be cherished. The notion of love is a universal principle that is responsible for the existence and preservation of society, lays out the foundation for all human actions, undergirds the innate behaviour of human beings, and can be regarded as the aspiration and source of all human striving. As a result of the intrinsic ability and humanistic quality of giving and feeling love, it is without question that this universal feeling is the supreme concern of all human beings. Symposium is a unique literary work and a transcendent masterpiece by the venerable Plato, written on the foundation of one of the most prominent and basic themes and primitive subject matters known to mankind love. In this classical Ancient Greek disquisition, six distinguished Athenians employ story, lyric, and verse in the form of speeches, to convey a variety of legends and motifs regarding the nature, function, and capacity of love (Eros). These ancient dissertations centered around the phenomenon of love, present sublime subject matter, abstract content and oratorical power that has seized my mind, stirred my thoughts, and allowed me to deeply examine my personal insights regarding love. Because of the heavy taxes that the British positioned on salt there was a mass civil disobedienceand support for the salt march all around India. In this case, it is true that this poem was a response to Christopher Marlowe s poem, The Passionate Shepherd to his Love . Both Marlowe and Sir Raleigh have a different but unique way of writing which makes their poems very similar but not the same . As you read them both you will clearly understand the question being asked by Marlowe and the response from Sir Raleigh. These poems symbolize many of the same things just in different ways, with one being idealistic and one realistic. Both of these poems represent a point of views from each side of a proposal, even though they have some similar points, they are more different than similar. By looking closely at both poems, you can see that Marlowe s poem is based on the Shepherd confessing his loveto a womanand Sir Raleigh s poem is based on the response from the woman. Both Writers used the flock of sheep in their poem, Marlowe wrote And we set upon the rock/ seeing shepherds feed their flocks and in response from Sir Raleigh the woman says Time drives the flocks from field the fold . The love the shepherd has for her is more like lustthan love. The shepherd is not thinking about the future and what is to come to him, he is just living in the moment. So when he said they would sit and look at the flock he did not take into consideration that as time passes the flock begins to move to different fields, as will his feelings. The Shepherd believes that he is madly in love with her when he says Come with me and be my love,/ And we will all the pleasures prove . But, not once did he did bring up how she is, which makes you believe that he did not want her for her but for her looks. As she gets older her looks will fade and return into dust, his love will fade because she does not look as she did the woman replys with Thy cap, thy kirtle, and thy posies /Soon break, soon wither, soon forgotten, / In folly ripe, in reason rotten. Although, there was one thing that Faustus did not know anything about, necromancy. Necromancy is also known as black magic, which refers to the dead. His main purpose of turning to black magic was so that he could have more power. Faustus wishes to become a demigod, which is a minor deity. Becoming a demigod, and learning about black magic will give Doctor Faustus the ultimate power and knowledge that he is craving to have. It is very ironic in my opinion that Doctor Faustus put so much time and effort into receiving his doctorate degree in Theology, and then essentially throws it all away to learn about necromancy, which is overall the complete opposite teachings of theology. I believe that his decision was influenced based upon the simple fact that Faustus knew everything that there was to know about Theology, as well as God. Therefore, he could not except that this was all that there was to life. He craved to learn about something that he knew many other individuals, including himself, did not know about or truly understand, being death. Death is a part of life that many individuals refuse to understand because of the fact that many people do not feel as if they are ready to die. Subsequently, knowledge of only one language has become rarely sufficient, resulting in growing bilingualism. As bilingualism has slowly become the new norm, the researchers have become engrossed in the field of second language acquisition. One of numerous important questions within that field is that of the role of the first language in second language acquisition.
