Methodology And Format Of Any Scientific Work Essay
Research design
This refers to the plan, structure and format of any scientific or statistical work. It serves the purpose
of guiding the researcher in his study and will set out the framework to be used. Research design will
basically cover the data collection process, tools of collecting such data, how the tools will be used to
collect data and how to analyze the collected data into a useful form (Gosling, 2014). A problem will
be raised by researcher in which he will carry out his course study to draw an answer
throughcollecting data (Meyer, et al, 2012).
The research process is as follows: Statement of problem is identified( Research problem); Making a
plan how to start the actual research is determined; Determining research type to use and Stating
methods to use. The research problem will be identified as follows:
1. Obtaining a problem you are already aware of. You may choose from social environment and any
other facts that researcher knows.
2. Asking from experts and teachers. This is also another avenue of obtaining a research problem.
Practitioners can be interviewed who will provide a much deeper insight to a problem. This is one of
the best methods since practitioners have myriad of experience in research field and
3. Reviewing from books
The following are the types of research design:

New Orleans Zoo
What s the point in living here anymore? There are so many reasons why people live in one place. But
what would happen if your town, your city, your community got destroyed. What if you had no place
to live, no family to go to, everything was just gone? All this happened an one big city named New
Orleans on August 29, 2005. Dams were broke, rivers were flooded, roads were destroyed, but nothing
came down to this. All the houses, the people, the town just gone and would never be the same. As
soon as Katrina hit, it s how everything was all messed up and how no one was in the town. A little bit
after people started to come back but nothing was ever the same. They say that they would sit in a
little place and talk about how everything has changed and that they would drink. Towards the end of
the book they say that they are waiting on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For a storm this big the people who worked at the zoo did a amazing job saving all theses animals. At
the New Orleans Aquarium, the aquarium lost virtually all of its 10,000 fish. Electricity has since been
restored at the facility. The aquarium s large white alligator, macaws, raptors, electric eel, and eight
large tarpons were the only fish survivors. Due to the National Guard of Louisiana the New Orleans
aquarium had to release five of it sea turtles into the gulf of mexico in the earlier weeks. When the
storm hit the aquarium lost power, but relied on generator for keeping critical equipment operating.
The aquarium also had plenty of food and freshwater, but within days of Katrina s passing the backup
power supply failed, killing the facility s life support systems. Thousands of fish died due to lack of
oxygen and irregular temperatures (higher temperature, less oxygen is dissolved in water and more
aeration is required). The staff did its best to save as many animals as possible but the conditions of
New Orleans made the final result

Army Professional Culture
A profession may be defined as an occupation in which the members use their acquired knowledge
and experience to solve some problems that may be faced within the society. From this definition, it is
seen that different elements need to be satisfied to a trade to be considered as a profession. Professions
provide vital and unique services to the different constituencies that they serve. The provision of
service is based on acquired knowledge and experience meaning that professionals apply their
acquired knowledge and experience in provision of the services. Professionals are expected to act in

The culture shapes the institutional mission, goals and values, and determines the parameters of
operation of the Army. The first element of the American Army culture is ethic. This is influenced by
the artifacts and hierarchical manner in which the Army is structured. Soldiers are required to bring
dignity and honor to themselves and to the nation. The actions of the Army s strategic leaders are
determined by the established laws of the United States. The second element of culture is respect for
the right and dignity of other people. The different operations conducted by the Army should consider
the rights and dignity of others and the Army should not be seen to be infringing on these rights. Even
in enemy territory, the target is always the adversary and the Army always tries as much as possible
not to expose innocent civilians of the enemy territory to danger. The Soldiers are always trained to
protect the political independence of the collective American society. This is to mean that the nation
has a right of holding political opinions within the geopolitical world and no citizen of the nation
should be exposed to threats due to the political stands of the nation. The other element of Army
culture is that evaluations are always performed before the Soldiers are released to engage in war. All
these values help in collective and individual development of Soldiers (U.S. Army,

Wislawa Szymborska
Listening to my own sensual voice, I seemed to convey a very strong knowledge of the poem, Hunger
Camp at Jaslo by Wislawa Szymborska. I extracted the meaning of the poem and supported my
assumption strongly with examples of literary technique throughout the poem. I scored myself in
Criterion A, knowledge and understanding of the poem, with a 5. In terms of Criterion B, appreciation
of the writer s choices, I brought forth a wide range of literary device examples ranging from
alliteration and repetition, to metaphor and diction. I awarded myself with a score of 4 in this category
as although my examples were plentiful and supportable there was certainly more room for analysis.
In Criterion C, organization and presentation of the commentary, I believe I left the most room for

In Criterion D, knowledge and understanding of the work used in the discussion, I felt I conveyed
excellent knowledge of Art Spiegelman s Maus, I cited the unique symbols and used specific

Criterion E, response to the discussion questions, I felt that the questions themselves could have been
stronger and the limited time may have given me some issues in terms of response strength, as a result
I had a brief response that although strong, was certainly too brief. I awarded myself with a score of 4

appropriate. I think this one of my stronger categories, as a result I awarded myself with a score of

Cannery Row Language Analysis
The opening passage of Cannery Row by John Steinbeck reveals bit about the life of Cannery row in
Monterey in California. It tells about the life of a small community but doesn t yet truly acknowledge
the protagonists of the text. The author concentrates on building a setting by using creative wording
and taking account the audience of his text. In the Cannery row Steinbeck demonstrates how to use
English language when describing milieu. Steinbeck creates the picture one word at a time by
exploiting our senses. Cannery Row. . . is a poem, a grating noise, a stink, a quality of light. . . Already
in the first sentence of the chapter, the author captures readers interest by these words: something we

Summary Of Marionettes Inc. And All Summer In A Day By Ray...
Ray Bradbury could write an autobiography on his childhood and some may think he was using his
descriptive, capturing style to craft another one of his famous science fiction works.
That was how science fiction esk it was. Born in Sweden, he then immigrated to the United
States. During his childhood he would move from town to town to town and could never find a stable
neighborhood. Because of this, he was familiar with being an alien. This influenced his writing style
and ultimately assisted it as he was able to write about being new, or foreign with ease and could write
about strange places, or aliens effortlessly with knowledge of how it feels to be one which is very
important in the genre of science fiction. His childhood which was flooded with unusual, strange, and
uncommon events for any kid recurs in his stories of turning normal and everyday problems events
into magical, out of the ordinary, unusual situations. Ray
Bradbury s childhood reappears in two of his short stories named Marionettes, Inc. and All
Summer in a Day by using setting to develop conflict in the stories, developing a common theme, and
using diction to develop mood and tone.
Ray Bradbury s childhood influenced his two short stories named Marionettes, Inc. and
All summer in a day by using setting to develop conflict in the stories. For starters, the story
All Summer in a Day takes place on the planet Venus. On Venus, it rains all days except for a short

The Jupiter Missile Crisis
How close were we to another nuclear World War III? After the U.S. failed to dethrone Castro in Cuba
with the Bay of Pigs Invasion in 1961, Kennedy s administration planned Operation Mongoose. While
planning the operation, Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev created a secret agreement with Cuban
premier Fidel Castro, to place missiles in Cuba to prevent any invasion attempts. The missiles could
launch over 1,000 miles and take the lives of approximately 80 million Americans. After U 2 spy

Khrushchev sent the president a resolution that had resembled the one that the news correspondent had

Jupiter Missiles were to be removed from Turkey. Later that same day one of the U.S. U 2 jets was
shot down over Cuba. President Kennedy and his advisers then planned an attack on Cuba. They
decided to carry out the first message sent by Khrushchev, however, they would ignore the second
message. Attorney General, Robert Kennedy met secretly with the Soviet Diplomat, Anatoly

that the information about the missiles could not be released to the public. The last day, October 28,
Khrushchev issued a public statement stating the Cuban missiles would be removed. However, the

Essay about Ethics and Gatekeeping in The Media
Gatekeeping is controlling access to goods, services, or information, usually applied by individuals or
groups in hierarchical organizations. (CSA). As it applies to media, gatekeeping refers to the method
in which information is filtered for distribution, this can be done through the internet, print or
broadcasting. Due to the power that gatekeepers wield in controlling what we as the public read, hear
or see, there are many ethical concerns to be considered and liberties to be safeguarded. Rupert
Murdoch is a prime example of a gatekeeper. He is the Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive
Officer of News Corporation. In 2010, News Corporation was the third largest media conglomerate in

Needless to say, Dauman has more than enough experience to helm News Corp. Of all the numerous
positions that Dauman has held during his illustrious career, his time as CEO at Viacom is likely the
most influential and the position where he served as a gatekeeper. We will analyze and examine the
choices that were made under his leadership at Viacom as a method for determining how he will
manage News Corp. Viacom has numerous media holdings such as MTV, BET, CMT, Nickelodeon,
Spike TV, VHI, Comedy Central, TV Land and Paramount Films. In his time as CEO of Viacom,
Dauman has remained mostly behind the scenes. Unlike Murdoch who is often in the public eye,
Dauman believes that being invisible gives him a competitive edge and causes his competitors to
underestimate and overlook him (Bourgeault). He has brought unity to the company, by implementing
a strategy of investing inwards and has seen his fair share of scandals. Viacom has been at the
receiving end of racist allegations which have not stopped since Dauman took over the reigns. In

Of Who Will Light The Incense When Mother s Gone By Andrew...
In the essay, Who will Light the Incense When Mother s Gone? by Andrew Lam, the theme is
recognized to be one of the key elements. The theme of this essay is the mother s fear of her children
leaving behind the sense of their ancestors. This theme commonly occurs with children of immigrant
parents because after being raised in America they neglect the fact where they originally came from.
The theme of this story is keeping up traditions. Lam s mother displays the theme love by following

Alexander Graham Bell had some good mentors when it came to his inventing. Bell also spent much
of his time inventing. Along with many other innovators of the 1870s, including Thomas Edison, he
worked om the multiplex telegraph a machine that would send and receive more than one signal over
an electrical wire at the same time (Streissguth). The fact that he worked with Thomas Edison, who is
one of the greatest inventors in history, shows that people had faith in him and believed that he could
accomplish great things. He had some excellent role models to look up to. He had some amazing
influences that helped lead him to the invention of the telephone.
Alexander Graham Bell has many different achievements, such as the Volta prize, President of the
National Geographic Society, and a regent of the Smithsonian Institution. He also invented things such
as, the air conditioning system, the hydrofoil speedboat and aerial transportation.
In 1880 the French government awarded Bell the Volta prize of 50,000 francs for inventing the

total output, in this case number of glasses repaired or fixed. (iii) The average cost will stay the same
which is the old hourly wage system just like in Previous System (iv) The turnover of productive
workers will be high because of the setting of piece rate in the New System (v) If the workers increase
their output more because of the piece rate it will increase the profit for the principal.

(b) The average cost at Qy = 20 is 60/20 = 3 The average cost at Qy = 40 is 100/40 = 2.5
(c) Yes. The average cost (AC) decrease from 3 to 2.5 when output increase from 20 to 40.

(e) The average cost at Qx = 15 is 75/15 = 5 The average cost at Qx = 45 is 180/45 = 4
(f) Yes. The average cost (AC) decrease from 5 to 4 when output increase from 15 to 45.

Liquidity Ratios and Activity Ratios
2.0 FINANCIAL RATIOS
2 Liquidity Ratios
Liquidity ratios measure a business capacity to pay its debts as they come due. It also measures the
cooperative s ability to meet short term obligations. Liquidity refers to the solvency of the firm s
overall financial position the ease with which it can pay its bills. Because a common precursor to
financial distress and bankruptcy is low or declining liquidity, these ratios can provide early signs of
cash flow problems and impending business failure. The two basic measures of liquidity are the
current ratio and the quick (acid test) ratio (Gitman, 2009).
1. Current ratios
The current ratio is current assets divided by current liabilities. The current ratio ... Show more content

No ratio, in fact, is especially meaningful without knowledge of the business from which it originates.
For example, a declining quick ratio with a stable current ratio may indicate that a company has built
up too much inventory, but it could also suggest that the company has greatly improved its collection
system. Quick ratio is expressed as follows:
Quick Ratio = Current assets Inventory / Current Liabilities Figure 2.2 explained the company s quick
ratio has been improving from year on year from 0.51 in 2007 to 0.63 in 2008 and then increased to
0.69 in 2009. Quick ratio for 2009 is higher compared to the industry average quick ratio that is 0.65.
Even though it has shown incremental improvement of their quick ratio and surpassed the industry
average of 0.65 acid tests, the firm would have to sell inventory to meet its obligations. Comparing
quick ratios over an extended period of time can be used to signal developing trends in a company.
While modest declines in the quick ratio do not automatically spell trouble, uncovering the reasons for
changes can help to find ways to nip potential problems in the bud. As for PJV s case, this is a good
sign that the company progress steadily in improving its quick ratio over 3 years period in which may
be resulting from its reduced inventories in 2009. The company s quick ratio can further be increased
to a satisfactory level (at least 1:1) by improving its collection system and policy. Like the

Gustav Koch is a dissonance loving composer in the contemporary classical music scene of the future
who is preparing to have his pieces performed by a group of musicians on the planet Vetros. This

Chapter 5 Questions for Thought 1. Explain the reasoning behind the wintertime expression, Clear
moon, frost soon ? On clear, calm nights, objects and the earth surface cools off by emitting infrared
radiation. This cooling effect is more rapid on clear night than cloudy nights since there is no clouds to
emit back to the surface. Hence the phrase clear moon, frost soon . The cool surface is then mixed
with air above it, which will eventually cool to the dew point and water vapor will appear on the
cooled surfaces. If the temperature continues to fall in the freezing range then the dew will freeze and
frost will form. 2. Explain why icebergs are frequently surrounded by fog? Fog surround icebergs due

by keeping the warm air above the fog. At night, radiation cooling take effect to cool the air
temperature and fog forms again. This process can last for days and even weeks. Pg120 10. Near the
shore of an extremely large lake, explain why steam fog is more likely to form during the autumn and
advection fog in early spring? During autumn in the northern hemisphere it is safe to say the air is
likely to be cold while large body of water such as lake are slow to emit their heat away. When the
cold air moves over the warmer water steam fog is produced. In early spring, if there is significantly
cooler difference between the cold surface and the air above the cold surface then the warm air is
chilled and advection fog is created. Pg120 122 11. The air temperature during the night cools to the
dew point in a deep layer, producing fog. Before the fog formed, the air temperature cooled each hour
about 2 C. After the fog, the air temperature cooled by only 0.5 C each hour. Give two reasons why
the air cooled more slowly after the fog formed? During the night the air is cooled more slowly
because the fog traps the infrared energy that is emitted from the earth and secondly, latent heat is
released as fog is formed.pg 124 12. On

Arc Of Justice Analysis
Arc of Justice is a story of the hardships of segregation fueled by ignorance in the 1920 s. The
beginning introduces the reader into the setting of Detroit reaching its industrial peak. It then
chronicles Ossian Sweet, an African American physician. Him and his wife, Gladys, purchased a
house in a white neighborhood in hopes of a better future and a successful family. Instead, they
quickly received many threats and felt unsteady, the neighbors rejected all African American s in their
society. Raised in the South, Ossian Sweet had seen what prejudice can do to a society. Although he
attempted to escape from it, he finds himself staring racism right in the face. For a book published 80
years after the fact, Kevin Boyle does a very impressive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During that time Johnson was the general secretary of the NAACP, and knew what impact the case
would have on civil rights. Given this the NAACP aided those accused of the murder of Breiner, and a
first rate defense team was in the making. Assistant secretary Walter White was the main assistant of
NAACP to find the best attorneys (who were not prejudiced, of course). He later meets Arthur
Garfield Hays and Clarence Darrow and urges them to take the case. After agreeing they meet their
clients about a month after the accident. Boyle shows how both James Weldon Johnson and Clarence
Darrow had interior motives for defending the Sweets. Both men had a love for the spotlight, when
speaking about Darrow, Boyle writes in the glare of a high profile case he found the perfect
opportunity to attack the status quo and proclaim the modernist creed. The trial itself felt more of a
civil rights case than a criminal case. The most impressive thing in regards to the actual trial was the
performance done by Darrow. One could draw many similarities between him and To Kill A
Mockingbird s Atticus Finch. A common misconception of the courtroom is that the jury goes strictly
off of evidence when deliberating. This book clears up that false belief with the attorneys playing off
of emotion and targeting pathos. A strong argument presented by Darrow can be summarized by a few
statements he made in that courtroom. You are facing a problem of two races, a problem that will take
centuries to solve. If I felt none of you were prejudiced, I d have no fear. I want you to be as
unprejudiced as you can be. Draw upon your imagination and think how you would feel if you fired at

Textual Analysis Of The Martian
Last quarter I took a class called Psychology of Gender that I really enjoyed. The topics that we
discussed were all very interesting and had me wanting to go to every class for engaging discussions.
We were put into groups at the very beginning of the quarter. We had the same group throughout the
entire quarter, with these groups we lead class discussions and presented our final presentations. The
final assignment for this class was for each group to choose a film and watch it. While watching the
film we were to look and see if we could identify any particular discourses about gender that the film,
intentionally or unintentionally, displayed. We were tasked with looking back at some of the ideas we
had discussed in class, some of which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a psychological minded individual I have been given a great vocabulary both from the Psychology
of Gender class and many others to describe gender issues and power issues reflected in the world. I
had not however, written an assignment on gender and power issues in the world and in the media
before. Approaching this assignment with a sense of openness and excitement really reflects how
much of a difference it makes when you feel connected to the material you are learning in a class.
Since this assignment, not much has changed about me as a student. I find that if I am engaged with
the material of classes and with my classmates I will have a lot to discuss in class. My Psychology of
Gender class further proved to me that professors who are very open to different ideas and veering off
the planned topic promote the greatest learning and reflecting. I was able to reflect about societal
issues and norms more in the class than any other class before it because of the great atmosphere that

Arcata Community Forestry
Managing a forest with and for the people: Community forestry and environmental public
participation in the case of Arcata, California
1. Introduction
All across the United States, historical patterns of resource extraction have led to degradation and
fragmentation of forest landscapes. When a community depends on those resources, a local crisis can
emerge from this process of degradation. To reverse this scenario, community forestry became a
popular approach in the 1970s as a modern policy and practice (Baker and Kusel, 2003). This model
was based on a simple assumption: as local people already use and rely on the natural resources of
their forests, they are in the best position to conserve them. However, recent literature has show that ...

Child Observation Essay examples
For this assignment, I observed my six year old niece, Faustine Bui who was born on August 16, 2007,
at the park where I was babysitting her with her mom for approximately thirty minutes. The park I
observed her at is packed with children and dogs are allowed. There is a large play area with jungle
jims and slide and it includes a sandy area which has a variety of playing equipment as well.
I first observed Faustine s biosocial development such as physical growth, gross motor and fine motor
skills. Faustine is 3 feet tall and she weighs 41 pounds according to my Aunt. She is a little shorter
than a lot of the six year old that she hangs out with and the ones in the park but I think that her height
is in the normal range for kids her age ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She had a hard time conquering the jugle jim though. She kept waddling back and forth every time she
tried to get her feet up on the next bar and she eventually gave up and refused to return to the jungle
jim again. She threw a few balls here and there but she was unable to throw it very far or accurate. By
the age of three, children can already kick, throw, jump and climb things such as ladder. By the age of
six, children can skip, climb trees and over things, and catch a ball (uofmchildrenshospital.org). I was
unable to observe a lot of fine motor skills from Faustine but she did pick up a stick from the ground,
hold it like a normal adult would hold a pencil, and started drawing in the sand. By the age of 2,
children can scribble, fold paper, draw vertical lines and manage semi large object with their hands.
By the age of six, children can copy letters, grasp pencils like a grown adult, and copy complex shapes
(kamloopschildrenstherapy.org).
I then observed her cognitive skills which included her language, memory, and perception. When
observing Faustine, I realized that she is one extremely talkative child. She would talk about
everything and anything sometimes she d just sit in front of us and talk to us and to herself while
playing in the sand. According to Lev Vygotsky and his social learning theory, children use private
speech ( The internal dialogue that occurs when people talk to themselves, either silently or out

Effects Of Low Level Disruption On The Classroom
Findings from a recent Ofsted report have shown that low level disruption in the classroom is causing
pupils to potentially lose up to one hour of learning each day, and that this may have a detrimental
impact on their life chances (Ofsted, 2014). Difficulties managing behavior is a commonly reported
source of stress and burnout among teachers, and is resulting in a substantial number leaving the
profession within 5 years (Ford et al, 2012). Disruptive behaviour is not only stressful for teachers, but
it can be unsettling for pupils, can hinder pupils enjoyment of school and can prevent pupils from
fulfilling their potential (Gorard, 2010). Although there has never been a time when all pupils behaved
well, all of the time (Viser, 2005), it is important that teachers have a good understanding of the
challenges they may face in the classroom, and are equipped with effective strategies to help them
manage classroom behaviour. After all, effective behaviour management and discipline in schools is a
crucial to ensuring academic success and a positive and safe learning environment (Luisellia et al,
2005).
In response to ongoing concern regarding behaviour management a wealth of research being carried
out and official documentation has been published, such as the Elton Report (DES, 1989) and the
Steer Report (DfES, 2005), on what works well in schools. Both reports hightlight that teachers were
most affected by the impact of relatively minor, but persistent, low level

Nowra s play is set in a burnt out theatre . Discuss the importance of setting and imagery in conveying
Nowra s ideas in Cosi.
The burnt out theatre in Nowra s play Cosi represents the life inside an asylum, a life that the
characters know all too well. Life inside an asylum is portrayed as a dark, cold and isolated place,
where the outside world is not often talked about and for others almost doesn t exist. Most of the
characters cannot handle reality but for Nowra is is about exposing the hard times and the difficult
lives of the patients. Lewis is fresh out of university and took on a job as a play director at the asylum,

if they could cope with the outside world.
The asylum introduces a new world to Lewis, one that is far from his own life, Asylums are the most
inefficient places on this earth. (pg 58) One that will challenge him to be more outspoken, more
attentive and more of a leader. This is shown when Roy tries to do Lewis job for him and complains
about Lewis directions. Couldn t direct a poofter. (Pg10) Lewis gets emotionally attached to the
patients and more or less throws his relationship and education out the window to help fulfill their
dream, Cosi Fan Tutte . It s not the fact that you ve let me down, Jerry, it s more the fact that you ve let
everyone down. [He looks at the theatre] This theatre could have been ringing with the music of the

Proximity In Pep Talks
Proximity is the nearness of surrounding objects for an individual. While attending the pep rally
Marcus is able to experience sight and sound from the band and the people around him. Proximity
allows Marcus to notice everything around him which maximizes the pleasure of being at the pep
rally.
The tendency to perceive a complete or whole figure relates to closure. As Marcus watches the
cheerleaders spell out leaders individually, Marcus is able to use closure to make each letter a whole
word. Another form of closure at the pep rally is Marcus s perception of each student sitting with their
grade level, because of their class colors.

Figure ground is used in Marcus s experience when he uses the background music from the speaker to
link that to the band.
Selective attention, focuses on attention to a particular stimuli, this was showed a lot through Marcus s
experience. He focused on each stimuli in the school pep rally. For example he first focused on the
students organized by grade. He then defered his attention to the school band being played through the
speaker. After that, his attention was on the cheers from the crowd and cheerleaders. Having selective
attention, may have made Marcus lack little details like any other events happening during the pep
rally.
Sensory adaptation is the process by which we become more sensitive to weak stimuli. The longer we
can adapt affects how sensitive we are to stimuli.
Sensitivity is the quality or lack of being sensitive. This can affect the process of sensation because
sensitivity is a reflection of how someone may perceive something. For example certain cultures

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For a storm this big the people who worked at the zoo did a amazing job saving all theses animals. At the New Orleans Aquarium, the aquarium lost virtually all of its 10,000 fish. Electricity has since been restored at the facility. The aquarium s large white alligator, macaws, raptors, electric eel, and eight large tarpons were the only fish survivors. Due to the National Guard of Louisiana the New Orleans aquarium had to release five of it sea turtles into the gulf of mexico in the earlier weeks. When the storm hit the aquarium lost power, but relied on generator for keeping critical equipment operating. The aquarium also had plenty of food and freshwater, but within days of Katrina s passing the backup power supply failed, killing the facility s life support systems. Thousands of fish died due to lack of oxygen and irregular temperatures (higher temperature, less oxygen is dissolved in water and more aeration is required). The first element of the American Army culture is ethic. This is influenced by the artifacts and hierarchical manner in which the Army is structured. Soldiers are required to bring dignity and honor to themselves and to the nation. The actions of the Army s strategic leaders are determined by the established laws of the United States. • 6. Wislawa Szymborska Listening to my own sensual voice, I seemed to convey a very strong knowledge of the poem, Hunger Camp at Jaslo by Wislawa Szymborska. I extracted the meaning of the poem and supported my assumption strongly with examples of literary technique throughout the poem. I scored myself in Criterion A, knowledge and understanding of the poem, with a 5. In terms of Criterion B, appreciation of the writer s choices, I brought forth a wide range of literary device examples ranging from alliteration and repetition, to metaphor and diction. I awarded myself with a score of 4 in this category as although my examples were plentiful and supportable there was certainly more room for analysis. In Criterion C, organization and presentation of the commentary, I believe I left the most room for improvement while although I structured my arguments well and delivered a clear and concise message there were ... For Criterion E, response to the discussion questions, I felt that the questions themselves could have been stronger and the limited time may have given me some issues in terms of response strength, as a result I had a brief response that although strong, was certainly too brief. I awarded myself with a score of 4 in this category. Ray Bradbury could write an autobiography on his childhood and some may think he was using his descriptive, capturing style to craft another one of his famous science fiction works. That was how science fiction esk it was. Born in Sweden, he then immigrated to the United States. During his childhood he would move from town to town to town and could never find a stable neighborhood. Because of this, he was familiar with being an alien. This influenced his writing style and ultimately assisted it as he was able to write about being new, or foreign with ease and could write about strange places, or aliens effortlessly with knowledge of how it feels to be one which is very important in the genre of science fiction. His childhood which was flooded with unusual, strange, and uncommon events for any kid recurs in his stories of turning normal and everyday problems events into magical, out of the ordinary, unusual situations. Ray Bradbury s childhood reappears in two of his short stories named Marionettes, Inc. and All Summer in a Day by using setting to develop conflict in the stories, developing a common theme, and using diction to develop mood and tone. Due to the power that gatekeepers wield in controlling what we as the public read, hear or see, there are many ethical concerns to be considered and liberties to be safeguarded. In his time as CEO of Viacom, Dauman has remained mostly behind the scenes. It also measures the cooperative s ability to meet short term obligations. Liquidity refers to the solvency of the firm s overall financial position the ease with which it can pay its bills. Because a common precursor to financial distress and bankruptcy is low or declining liquidity, these ratios can provide early signs of cash flow problems and impending business failure. The current ratio ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No ratio, in fact, is especially meaningful without knowledge of the business from which it originates. For example, a declining quick ratio with a stable current ratio may indicate that a company has built up too much inventory, but it could also suggest that the company has greatly improved its collection system. Quick ratio is expressed as follows: Quick Ratio = Current assets Inventory / Current Liabilities Figure 2.2 explained the company s quick ratio has been improving from year on year from 0.51 in 2007 to 0.63 in 2008 and then increased to 0.69 in 2009. Quick ratio for 2009 is higher compared to the industry average quick ratio that is 0.65. On clear, calm nights, objects and the earth surface cools off by emitting infrared radiation. This cooling effect is more rapid on clear night than cloudy nights since there is no clouds to emit back to the surface. Hence the phrase clear moon, frost soon . The cool surface is then mixed with air above it, which will eventually cool to the dew point and water vapor will appear on the cooled surfaces. Near the shore of an extremely large lake, explain why steam fog is more likely to form during the autumn and advection fog in early spring? During autumn in the northern hemisphere it is safe to say the air is likely to be cold while large body of water such as lake are slow to emit their heat away. When the cold air moves over the warmer water steam fog is produced. In early spring, if there is significantly cooler difference between the cold surface and the air above the cold surface then the warm air is chilled and advection fog is created. Pg120 122 11. The air temperature during the night cools to the dew point in a deep layer, producing fog. Before the fog formed, the air temperature cooled each hour about 2 C. After the fog, the air temperature cooled by only 0.5 C each hour. Give two reasons why the air cooled more slowly after the fog formed? Effects Of Low Level Disruption On The Classroom Findings from a recent Ofsted report have shown that low level disruption in the classroom is causing pupils to potentially lose up to one hour of learning each day, and that this may have a detrimental impact on their life chances (Ofsted, 2014). Difficulties managing behavior is a commonly reported source of stress and burnout among teachers, and is resulting in a substantial number leaving the profession within 5 years (Ford et al, 2012). Disruptive behaviour is not only stressful for teachers, but it can be unsettling for pupils, can hinder pupils enjoyment of school and can prevent pupils from fulfilling their potential (Gorard, 2010).
