Unreliable Narrator s Mind
How ill, and mentally unstable can a mind get? Edgar Allan Poe wrote a story about the narrator
killing another man because of his eye. The narrator was not seeking revenge, but was vexed by the
old man s eye. To him, it was an eye of a vulture . It infuriates him, and he is going to do something
about it. A week before killing the old man, he saw a psychologist. The psychologist said that the
narrator s mind is mentally unstable. He has been prescribed many kinds of medicine, and is
recommended to go to a mental institution. The narrator didn t go to a mental institution. His mind
was set on killing the old man. The narrator will not take responsibility for his crimes. This is because
he is an unreliable narrator, which means a narrator

Standardization Of Entry Into Nursing Practice
This paper explores five journal articles gathered from The Future of Nursing: Leading Change,
Advancing Health, The Journal of Nursing Education, Journal of Professional Nursing, Nurse
Education Today, and The Online Journal of Issues in Nursing regarding the standardization of entry
into nursing practice. The greatest challenge in the nursing profession today continues to be the lack of
cohesion and agreement on how to proceed in the future of nursing. This paper will discuss the
American Nurses Association s (ANA) 1965 position on entry into the nursing practice, the current
discussions on entry and advancements in the nursing profession, and the current challenges in nursing
education. In order to gain cohesion and unity within the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All states hold different standards in regards to entry into nursing practice. Begging the question, are
nurses adequately prepared for the healthcare field and what does this mean for the future of the
nursing profession? The unified standard of entry into nursing practice is a must for the growth of the
nursing profession. This paper will review the ANA s 1965 position on entry into the nursing practice,
the current discussions on entry and advancements in the nursing profession, and the current
challenges in nursing education. American Nurses Associations 1965 position In 1963, the U.S.
Surgeon General s Consultant Group on Nursing identified a nationwide nursing shortage. This led to
the Comprehensive Nurse Training Act of 1964 that created nurse education and training programs
and also supplied grant funds for student loans, nursing school, and education grants (Smith, 2009). A
year later the Comprehensive Nurse Training Act led to the American Nurses Association Committee
on Education to look at nursing education, practice, scope, and responsibilities. While looking into
nursing education, concerns were raised about hospital based diploma programs and the increasing
complexity of healthcare. As a result, the American Nurses Association s (ANA) released their 1965
position paper on entry into nursing practice. In their 1965 position paper the ANA recommended

Australian Curriculum Essay
The development of a national curriculum for Australia is not a new endeavour (Marsh, 2010). The
ideal is that national curriculum across Australia would mean that students are provided with a quality
education that helps to shape the lives of the nations citizens and continue developing the productivity
and quality of life within Australia. The Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority
[ACARA] have the task of developing and implementing a nationwide curriculum. ACARA (n.d. c)
claims have addressed needs of young Australians while considering that changing ways in learning
and challenges will continue to shape students education in the future. A look at what the Australian
Curriculum is, its purpose, structure and scope, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another alternative is that curriculum as an outcome ties together the experiences of learners while at
school with the purpose to achieve goals and objectives (Reid, 2005).
The Australian Curriculum is not designed to stipulate the whole curriculum; rather it is a blueprint
that defines what students across Australia should be taught throughout their schooling years
(ACARA, n.d. g). The Australian Curriculum will provide specific information for the content that is
to be taught, the extent of understanding, level of knowledge and the achievement standards and skills
that will be expected of students (Hill, n.d.). Individual schools, teachers and communities make
decisions about which activities, events and community based traditions to include in the classroom
which focus on personal development and character (Hill, n.d.).
The Goal for Education
When meeting to discuss the educational goals that would apply to the curriculum for Australia, The
Ministerial Council for Education, Early Childhood Development and Youth Affairs [MCEECDYA]
committed to promoting equity and excellence and providing the support that young Australians need
to become successful learners, confident and creative individuals and active informed citizens
(MCEECDYA, 2008). The Australian Curriculum is designed to be world class, providing challenges
for students that prepare them for life long learning (ACARA, 2011b; Brady Kennedy, 2010). The

The Enigma Code
Everyone has a passion, everyone has a purpose, but more importantly everyone has an impact. In the
beginning of the 20th Century, there was a boy named Alan Turing who seemed like any other
troublesome delinquent, but as he grew he became one of the most crucial tools for the British
Military. Morten Tyldum directs, The Imitation Game, which is a piece of cinematography created to
illustrate the period of time during WWII where the German use of the Enigma code, which is an
encrypted form of communication, had not yet been solved. This mystery allowed Germans to
communicate freely, without having to worry about other countries interfering.. The British force
attempted to crack the code, but there were several obstacles that stood in their way that earned the
enigma code, impossible to crack. The decryption of the Enigma code was such a daunting task
primarily because there were millions upon millions of settings for the transmitting machine, and
those attempting to understand had less than 24 hours to crack it, or else the cycle started over. The
movie focuses primarily on the leader of the team that cracked the code, Alan Turing. It begins post
World War II, in an effort to demonstrate how Turing s sexual orientation lead to his depression and
suicide, as well as to highlight that the life a genius man who saved millions of lives was never
congratulated by anyone other than those who were already close to him. As one would expect,

Edible Alternatives To Single Use Plastic In Food Industry
Plastic pollution has reached the all time high. According to recent research, there are already more
than 5 trillion plastic pieces weighing over 250 000 tons afloat in the oceans (Eriksen et al., 2014).
Sustainablecoastlines.org, a New Zealand Charity dedicated to cleaning up the island s coastlines,
estimates that 72.4% of all plastic pollution in the Pacific oceans consists of single use plastics, 22.5%
of which is food wrappers, containers and bottle caps ( Our Impact ). Those numbers spell out an
urgency to come up with a sustainable solution that will slow down the production of plastic debris

Biodegradable plastics, produced from food based products rather than petroleum, although very
promising, still represent a very small percentage of the waste problem. Those should be broken down
only in specialized composting facilities through a controlled process that still produces considerable
amounts of methane (Dell, 2010). Clearly, the issue needs a completely different approach. Edible
alternatives to plastic are the next logical step to solving the contamination problem.
Designers of edible packaging borrowed the concept from nature. Just like apple or grape skins, those
ultra thin but strong membranes are capable of holding both liquid and solid foods while being
completely washable. Edible plastics can be made from vegetables, fruits or nuts with some chitosan
(biopolymer) or alginate (algae extract). Once those particles are gelatinized, they create the firm but
edible skin which mimics resistance of conventional plastics. This kind of packaging will still need an
outer box or a bag to keep the product clean on the shelf, but the individual servings will no longer
have to be ripped open and discarded. Instead, they can be dissolved in hot liquid directly or rinsed off
and eaten together with the contents. Some examples of this new zero waste food industry ideas have

Analysis of Richard Adams Watership Down Essay
Analysis of Richard Adams Watership Down
Richard Adams novel, Watership Down, is the account of a group of rabbits trip to search out a new
location to inhabit. After escaping the Sandleford Warren because of one rabbit s instincts, nearly a
dozen rabbits cross virgin country. Along the way, they run across a few other warrens. These places
exhibit a completely different way of living to the fleeing group. What they learn is vital when they
develop their own warren. From these places they manage to collect some rabbits to increase their size
once they reach a resting point at their final destination. Each of the places they encounter is set up

The warren of snares could be considered socialist because all the rabbits there are equal and no one
has anything more than anyone else.
Efrafa can only be explained as a totalitarian warren with General Woundwort clearly being the
dictator. His military regime leaves the majority of his subjects unhappy. The entire warren is
organized to conceal its existence . . . the Owsla have every rabbit in the place under orders. You can t
call your life your own: and in return you have safety if it s worth having at the price you pay (Adams
238 9). All dwellers of the warren have a marking that distinguishes them from other groups,
controlling their time above ground. They also must defecate in a specific area and then conceal it.
There are more rabbits than the warren can hold, with the majority of females unable to reproduce
because of the overcrowding. All rabbits aspire to be in the Owsla and the Council because of the
privileges and they have the best of everything (Adams 240). Woundwort maintains his power over
the warren through fear and force, which, in the end, causes his great downfall.
The rabbits reach the Watership Down early on in the story, where they decide to remain and set up a
government with the will of the people being the deciding factor in regulations. After discovering they
are doeless, Bigwig convinces the does of Efrafa on the wonders of Watership Down, telling them . .

Racial Stereotyping In The Film Crash
Crash Analysis
Racial stereotype is defined as labeling people of similar appearance with certain positive or negative
attributes. Being advance in mathematics is an example of positive attribute in the Asian culture. An
example of negative attribute is he is black , therefore he must be athletic. Labeling people can be very
harmful to those who are portrayed in a negative way, but can have a long term effect on those who
use stereotypes to discriminate against others. In the film Crash (2004), many different characters
demonstrated different ethnic and racial backgrounds. This move has different diversity situations that
show stereotyping still exists. The film also shows how individual s personality changed due, to the

In the first five minutes of the film, one example shows stereotyping in the Middle Eastern man

man s store. Due to a language barrier, the gun store owner begins to verbally insult the man by
saying, Arab people are all terrorists. In the processing of purchasing the weapon the store owner
makes inappropriate sexual references. This is example shows the store owner self justification,

Theme Of Siegfried Sassoon
The name of Siegfried Sassoon is written down in the Poets Corner in Westminster Abbey among the
greatest authors of the wartime to pay homage to his contribution to the Universal Literature. Despite
of the fact that he is sharing the eternity with other outstanding authors of the period, his sanity was
indeed questioned. When WWI started he was willing to participate in it, nonetheless, as he became
more aware of the reality of the battlefield, his poetry evolved towards an increasingly realistic and
disenchanted one. As a result of this, he created poems full of levity that were utterly satirical. His
verses reflected the bitterness of his emotions and his rage. Moreover, the statement he wrote
concerning the war triggered the government s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

case of Siegfried Sassoon as he was nicknamed as Mad Jack due to his reckless courage in the
battlefield. Once he published A Soldier s Declaration , his friend, Robert Graves, interpreted this act
as a self destructive and futile gesture since Graves foresaw the dangerous consequences of this
declaration. He helped him by testifying on his behalf, not only to save his life, since if considered
mentally ill, he would not be court martialed, but also because in doing so he would not allow his

Freen Friend Number Two Circle
In my opinion friend number one is correct. Friend one is saying the circles are concentric, meaning
every ray you draw from the center of the circles will cut the big circle once and the little circle once.
This makes a correspondence between the points of the one circle and the points of the other circle. So
they have the same amount of points. If you look below this, I have taken the circle and drew a few
lines on it. Showing you how each ray, or line, cuts the big circle one and the little circle once.
Looking at the picture you see that each ray cuts each, big and little, circle once. Making friend
number one s statement correct, because they do have the same amount of point on the grid. Friend
number two s statement was correct to a certain point. They had said, If you draw a horizontal line
through the center. At first, the line cuts both circles in two places, but as move the line up or down
you will see line will cut the big circle twice, but only just touch the smaller circle at one point. And if
you get farther away than that, the line will touch the bigger circle (still twice!), but not touch the little
circle at all. All points on the smaller circle are related to some point on the bigger one, but some
points on the bigger one are not related to point on the smaller one. So the larger circle has more
points. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ankle Sprains
Introduction
Ankle sprain injuries are most common in team sports that include contact, jumping, sharp cutting
manoeuvres and running, such as football, volleyball, handball and basketball (Fong et al and Thacker
et al). Pefanis et al found that 10% to 30% of the injuries recorded in football, basketball and
volleyball are ankle sprains.
According to physioroom.com, ankle sprain is the 2nd most common injury footballer players suffer
from. Woods et al found that over two seasons in the English football leagues, 11% of the injuries
recorded were ankle sprains, and 77% of these involved the lateral ligament complex. They also found
that defenders (35%) and midfielders (31%) were the playing positions affected the most. In a UEFA
injury study, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ankle sprains usually occur in professional football as a result from a tackle, making sharp cutting
edge movements, or landing awkwardly after jumping. The most common type of ankle sprain is to
the lateral ligaments (anterior talofibular, calcaneofibular and posterior talofibular ligaments) after
inversion plantar flexion and internal rotation of the ankle (85% of all reported ankle injuries).
At the time of the injury the athlete would feel pain on the lateral side of his ankle, and the ankle
would show signs of swelling and bruising (the swelling might start on impact, but it could also take a
few hours depending on the severity of the injury). A snap or tear sound may be heard, but it is not of
diagnostic significance (Tropp et al, Garrick, aofas.org, Khan and Bruker, nsmi.org and Yeung et al).
The ankle sprain could be person related, like when the individual perform poorly executed tackles or
cutting manoeuvres to cause the inversion of the ankle. The injury could also be a result of
environmental risk factors, like the condition/irregularity of the pitch/field, position the athlete plays
in, and foul play (Willems et al and

Job Satisfaction, Work Attitude and Stress Tolerance of...
CHAPTER I
The PROBLEM AND ITS SCOPE
INTRODUCTION
Rationale of the Study
Job satisfaction is simply how people feel about their jobs and different aspects of their jobs. It is the
extent to which people like (satisfaction) or dislike (dissatisfaction) their jobs. As it is generally
assessed, job satisfaction is an attitudinal variable. In the past, job satisfaction was approached by
some researchers from the perspective of need fulfilment that is, whether or not the job met the
employee s physical and psychological needs for the things provided by work (Cote S., and Morgan
LM, 2002).
In a report on job satisfaction by the National Center for Education Statistics (2003) revealed many
factors that contributed to higher ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Taking in to account that most of these teachers are working away from their home and family and
could only go home weekly, or the least once a month due to the distance of the schools they are
assigned.
However, districts located in the hinterland such as Paquibato, had most number of teacher applicants
every year. Reason of this scenario could be the fact that many teachers are applying for transfer to the
nearby schools after a one or two years of service and that applicant could be hired easily.
Nevertheless, some teachers had tenured in this district up to their retirement period and some had
flourished and raised their professional status and positions.
The ground for conducting this study is that it is intended to shed light on what influences how
teachers feel about their work and profession so that positive job related attitudes may be cultivated.
Theoretical Background
The Maslow s hierarchy of needs theory, a motivation theory, laid the foundation for job satisfaction
theory. It is founded in the premise that goals or needs underpin by being the fundamental source of all
desires.
This theory explains that people seek to satisfy five specific needs in life physiological needs, safety
needs, social needs, self esteem needs, and self actualization. In the levels of the five basic needs, the
person does not feel the second need until the demands of the first

God s Instrument In A Prayer For Owen Meany
Owen Meany believes that he is God s instrument throughout the novel A prayer for Owen Meany.
Owen struck his foul ball down the third base line straight into Johnny s mom, Tabby s, temple,
essentially killing her. As the novel continues, we find out later that this death was fate. Owen claims
to have interrupted the angel of deaths course when he went to see Mrs. Wheelwright s room and
somehow prevented it from killing her. This was the first of many events causing Owen to believe he
was God s instrument. Owen during a play had seen his own full name on a gravestone and the date of
his death. This vision proved to Owen that not only was he an instrument of God, but he was meant to
help people as well. It also brings up the question, Will Owen s fate catch up with him on this date? .

American Women In The 1970 s
I think it is important to take time and actually think about all of the advancements women have made.
If you think about it we would not have some of the things we have today due to the women in past
standing up for they believe in. There is a quote that I cannot remember off the top of my head, but I
know that it is along the lines of saying a woman in general is powerful, but once she realizes how
truly powerful she is, you better watch out. Like Mary Richards, American women in the 1970s were
figuring out how to use their new powers to craft a good life (Collins 241). This quote is amazing
because there are so many women that do not see their potential. Everything is just a matter of you can
do anything you put your mind to and it was not until the 1970 s that women were starting to come
around to see what they were truly capable of.
I wonder what it was like back then to be the epitome of a great athlete and still not be taken seriously.

me it sounds like people just did not have a filter. Her client said to her when she asked why she was
given the cold shoulder after buying a house, Well, you bought this house, her client retorted. You can
t buy a house without being married (Collins 251). How about we stop jumping to conclusions? I have
gotten a sense that this book is just full of conclusion jumpers. For example, women are just
automatically bad at sports and if you did this then that means you did that. I think it is pretty sad
actually that Sylvia was not even able to buy herself a house without getting attacked, even after doing

together with the body s attempts to compensate for this. Part of this response includes activation of
the stress system and its hormones which would explain the fast heart rate and shaking. Eating sweets

maintaining normal blood glucose levels (70mg/dl) involves a negative feedback system involving
several hormones[1]. In response to low blood glucose: pancreatic a cells secrete glucagon, a hormone

In response to the attack, the b cells undergo cell apoptosis, reducing the quantity of insulin and
therefore increasing blood glucose levels depending on how many beta cells have been destroyed.
Type 1 diabetes is usually diagnosed at a young age, cannot be prevented and cannot be controlled
without insulin supplements. Conversely, type 2 diabetes results from prolonged exposure to high
blood glucose levels (hyperglycemia 70mg/dl), which causes tissues to become resistant to insulin
over time. Type 2 diabetes can occur because of genetics and poor diet/lifestyle. It is usually
diagnosed later in life and can sometimes be reversed with appropriate lifestyle and dietary changes
(i.e. exercise and healthy eating)[4]. Reduced levels of insulin mean that blood glucose increases past
the set point. This is dangerous as it can cause damage to the eyes, kidneys, nerves, skin, heart, and
blood vessels[5]. While diabetes is often associated with high blood glucose, a consequence of poor
self medication and impractical lifestyle habits can cause another, equally serious condition known as
hypoglycemia (blood glucose 70mg/dl). Symptoms include hunger, shaking, nervousness, sweating,
dizziness or light headedness, sleepiness, confusion, difficulty speaking, anxiety, weakness[6]. Both
type 1 and type 2 diabetics can take insulin to replenish loss/lack of their own b cell production,

A plethora of reasons exist to which why the accounts are both different and similar. ANZAC troops
were outnumbered in all instances because they were fighting the same opponent, similar weaponry
was employed as all ANZAC troops were issued an identical set of weapons, the nature of the conflict
reflected all of the battles as the same strategies were used, terrain similarities occurred because they
were all situated in the same vicinity, all accounts entered via ship as no other route existed, courage,
fearlessness and audacity were all common behaviours for the ANZACs as they all came from more or

Traditional Forms Of Child Abuse
In today s society people make it very clear about their opinion when it comes to discipline a child.
Most but not every parent believes that every form of child discipline is considered child abuse. When
in fact traditional acts of discipline are more of a teaching lesion rather than straight child abuse. What
people are not aware of is that not every style of discipline works with every child. Some children
listen and/or even learn better with specific punishments. When it comes to traditional acts of
discipline the first technique that comes to any parent is spanking. For the most part, spanking
children is not considered abuse unless the technique is overused and taken too far. Spanking is one of
the best known examples of positive punishment and it is estimated that around 75 percent of parents
in America use spanking as discipline. Georgia s law states that ... Show more content on

By putting the child in time out, it is allowing their child to think about what they did and know to not
make the same mistake again. For a time out session to not be considered child abuse, there needs to
be reasonable boundaries or rules. For example. If a parent has a four year old and puts them in time
out, a reasonable time would be four minutes. Second, the time out area also needs to be in a spot
where the parent can see and monitor their child so they have no way of hurting them self. Parents don
t only use time out at home but in public as well. For example, when a child shoves another child, the
parents first though it to scold them and have them sit by their side for a few minutes. In no way is the
parent trying to isolate their child from their friends and having fun but instead have them take a few
minutes to learn from their mistake and then let them go back out and play with other children. In all
honesty, the timeout session is probably the safest act of discipline there is out

European Imperialism In British India
The works of Thomas Metcalf, T.W. Roberts, Daniel Headrick, and other notable historians explore
the development of the European imperial project through the use of architecture, technology, and
medicine. These technologies become the machines and driving force of imperialism and are used to
retain control over colonial regions. Headrick argues that these sciences provide the means to the
motives behind the imperialist powers who are working to keep their territorial subjects subdued to
their will. Without the means of technology, the motive can never be achieved, and the constructed
empires are inevitably doomed to failure. Along with the means of technology, the invention, use, and
implantation of these technologies also reflect the broader political and social trends of the empires.
Architecture, technology, and medicine showcase the changes in imperial policies, ideologies and
overarching view of the empire itself. (Present or Past Tense)
Metcalf s analysis of architecture in British India shows how a combination of cultures becomes
essential in designing an empire that reflected both the colonizer and the subjects. After the Sepoy
Mutiny of 1857, British officials realized that a serious reassessment of Indian culture was necessary
for Britain to remain the colonial power. Metcalf explores the construction of the Mayo College and
the architectural debates that came with building it. The formation and science behind the architecture
are essential to empire building

African American Criminalization Analysis
In this class we have learned about mass incarceration and the criminalization of black and brown
bodies throughout U.S. history. An early example of the criminalization of brown bodies can be seen
in Los Angeles when the Spanish Crown came and deemed Native Americans as lawless and
ungovernable. Then, later in time, we see the criminalization of black bodies in the South during the
Reconstruction Era. Laws and ideology that are motivated by colonialism and settler colonialism, have
helped put more black and brown bodies in prison and exploit them for labor through convict lease
systems. The criminalization of Native Americans, Hobos, and African Americans served a political,
social and economic purpose which helped colonialism and settler ... Show more content on

Hobo did not want to conform to settler colonialism, in attempting to permanently reside in Native
land, which led to them being outcasts in society. African Americans were ignored and attacked for
trying to integrate in society. It is evident that colonialism has played in the social construction of race
as well as a racialized global hierarchy and a system of punishment that criminalizes difference
(Bosworth/Flavin 13). It is evident that these populations were criminalized because they were
different and did not follow or assimilate to European culture. Incarcerating these two populations,
gave Anglo Saxons free and cheap labor in the construction of Los Angeles and many construction
projects in the South. This was useful to colonialism because Anglo Saxons and Spaniards could take
advantage of their free labor and keeping them away from them while excluding them from their

The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost Essay
The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost
In Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken, (reprinted in Laurence Perrine and Thomas R. Arp, Sound and
Senses, 8th ed. [San Diego: Harcourt, 1992] 23) the speaker stands in the woods, considering a fork in
the road. Both ways are equally worn, and equally overlaid with un trodden leaves. The speaker
chooses one, telling himself that he will take the other another day. Yet he knows it is unlikely that he
will have the opportunity to do so. And he admits that someday in the future he will recreate the scene
with a slight twist: he will claim that he took the less traveled road. The whole poem is an extended
metaphor, where Frost describes a path in the woods that is directly comparable to a major ... Show

Frost presents to the reader a man s decision, at a turning point in his life, symbolized by two roads
diverged in a yellow wood.
In the first line, Frost introduces the elements of his primary metaphor: the diverging roads. The
speaker expresses his regret that [he] could not travel both (line 2). The choice is not easily made since
long I stood (line 3) before coming to a decision. In an attempt to make a choice, the traveler examines
the path as far as [he] could (line 4), but his vision is limited because the path bends and is covered in
the undergrowth (line 5). Thus, indicating that although he would have liked to acquire more
information, he is prevented from doing so because of the nature of his environment. In lines 6 8, the
speaker is still unable to decide between the two paths since the other, [is] just as fair (line 6). He
indicates that the second path is a more attractive choice since it was grassy and wanted wear (line 8).
Nevertheless, by the end of the stanza, he remains ambivalent, even after comparing the two paths, for
each was really about the same (line 10). Neither path has been traveled lately. In the third stanza, the
speaker makes his decision, trying to persuade himself that he will eventually come back (line 15) to
satisfy his desire and curiosity to travel both paths. However, deep down, he admits to himself that

Theory Of Counseling And The Therapy Process
Theories of counseling are basic tools used in the therapy process. An interesting component of these
tools is the person centered therapy. The person centered theory was founded by Carl Rogers on the
belief there is good in all human beings. Rogers s person centered therapy is among the most
influential and widely employed techniques in modern U.S. clinical psychology (Grant, 2015). Rogers
believed with caring nurturing care the client could work out their issues. Additionally person centered
theory maintains the idea that the iniquities that the client is experiencing is from their own
surroundings. This therapy considers it necessary for the client to be in a conflicting state for this type
of therapy. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The number one component of this therapy is unconditional positive regard. Essentially this means
that the therapist must accept the client without judgement and unconditionally. In person centered
counselling, it is crucial that the client is allowed to express and explore the positive or negative sides
of themselves without fear of rejection. The second component is empathic understanding. Empathetic
understanding signifies that the therapist perfectly comprehends the client s feelings and thoughts
from the clients own viewpoint. When the therapist sees what the world is like from the client s
perspective, it bring about feelings of acceptance in the client. And let us not forget the third
component, congruence. This is a very important part of the therapy because it means that the therapist
must be genuine. It is crucial that the therapist be honest and genuine to initiate feelings of trust in the
clients. Many clients can see through a standoffish professional front, so a legitimate facade in the
therapeutic process is highly important. There are certain professionals that appreciate the benefits of
this type of therapy. Person centered counseling enables the client to feel comfortable and relaxed
around the therapist. Additionally, there is no pressure by the client of being judged by the therapist,
which allows the client to have a less

The racialization of Latinos dates back to the 1800 s where the term greaser first came to be used

Women, I argue from analogy, are degraded by the same propensity to enjoy the present moment; and,
at last, despite the freedom which they have not sufficient virtue to struggle to attain. But I must be
more explicit. (Wollstonecraft 93). What she is saying is that while men willingly bow down to
aristocracy women then must too, because they are perceived as lesser than man. Mary is trying to tell
us that women are not subservient to a man but are equals and those who don t struggle to get their
freedom do not value it. She also believes women should have an education which leads me to my

Secondly, Mary Wollstonecraft believed that women are intellectuals that deserve an education. Mary
believed that appearance did not make the woman but the knowledge the obtained through education
and through education they would obtain reason. Mary thought women should be educated if they
were widowed so they wouldn t have to marry or get remarried and so they could provide stability and

should first obtain reason and rationality which, in Mary s opinion, is what separates humans from

Comparing The Seven Wonders Of The Ancient World
The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World fascinate and baffle the modern world. The list is comprised
of the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the Statue of Zeus at Olympia, the
Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, the Colossus of Rhodes, and lastly
the Lighthouse of Alexandria (history). Ancient civilizations had developed and grown without being
as connected as countries in today s society are. Thus, cultures and societies remained unique from the

civilizations such as the Egyptians in many ways; some similarities are their interests in geometry and
mathematics, having an insular society, and religious beliefs and some differences are religious
structures, art style, and finally government structures. A similarity between the ancient Egyptians and
Greek is the use of what is now known as geometry. It is currently thought that the Egyptians had

African Poem Informative Essay In your ears my song is motor car misfiring stopping with a choking

Laughed by Gabriel Okara. Gabriel Okara is a famous author who spent the majority of his life in
Nigeria. During that time there were many cultural differences between people in Africa versus people
in other parts of the world. In the poem, Okara addresses the reader as a selfish person who is
unwilling to listen to what he has to say about his African culture. Through contrast, metaphors, and
tone Okara expresses the fact that people from other cultures aren t always welcoming towards
African culture. The first important literary device that Okara uses to convey the theme of the poem is
metaphors. Metaphors play a major role in the development of Okara s message; some people refuse
to listen to information about African culture, by making specific comparisons that help the reader
better understand the poem. To Okara, the reader seems to listen to him as if he were a motor car
misfiring (Okara 19). This suggests that the reader doesn t care about what Okara has to say nor does
the reader pay much attention to him. The second metaphor that Okara chooses to use is a comparison
between the reader s laugh and ice. By comparing the reader s laugh to ice block laughter Okara is
making a connection to how harsh their laugh is to the bitterness of the cold (Okara 19). The

In the beginning of the 20th Century, there was a boy named Alan Turing who seemed like any other troublesome delinquent, but as he grew he became one of the most crucial tools for the British Military. Morten Tyldum directs, The Imitation Game, which is a piece of cinematography created to illustrate the period of time during WWII where the German use of the Enigma code, which is an encrypted form of communication, had not yet been solved. This mystery allowed Germans to communicate freely, without having to worry about other countries interfering.. The British force attempted to crack the code, but there were several obstacles that stood in their way that earned the enigma code, impossible to crack. The decryption of the Enigma code was such a daunting task primarily because there were millions upon millions of settings for the transmitting machine, and those attempting to understand had less than 24 hours to crack it, or else the cycle started over. The movie focuses primarily on the leader of the team that cracked the code, Alan Turing. It begins post World War II, in an effort to demonstrate how Turing s sexual orientation lead to his depression and suicide, as well as to highlight that the life a genius man who saved millions of lives was never congratulated by anyone other than those who were already close to him. Biodegradable plastics, produced from food based products rather than petroleum, although very promising, still represent a very small percentage of the waste problem. Those should be broken down only in specialized composting facilities through a controlled process that still produces considerable amounts of methane (Dell, 2010). Clearly, the issue needs a completely different approach. Edible alternatives to plastic are the next logical step to solving the contamination problem. Designers of edible packaging borrowed the concept from nature. Just like apple or grape skins, those ultra thin but strong membranes are capable of holding both liquid and solid foods while being completely washable. Edible plastics can be made from vegetables, fruits or nuts with some chitosan (biopolymer) or alginate (algae extract). Once those particles are gelatinized, they create the firm but edible skin which mimics resistance of conventional plastics. This kind of packaging will still need an outer box or a bag to keep the product clean on the shelf, but the individual servings will no longer have to be ripped open and discarded. Instead, they can be dissolved in hot liquid directly or rinsed off and eaten together with the contents. Some examples of this new zero waste food industry ideas have already appeared on the ... It is the extent to which people like (satisfaction) or dislike (dissatisfaction) their jobs. As it is generally assessed, job satisfaction is an attitudinal variable. In the past, job satisfaction was approached by some researchers from the perspective of need fulfilment that is, whether or not the job met the employee s physical and psychological needs for the things provided by work (Cote S., and Morgan LM, 2002). In a report on job satisfaction by the National Center for Education Statistics (2003) revealed many factors that contributed to higher ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, districts located in the hinterland such as Paquibato, had most number of teacher applicants every year. Reason of this scenario could be the fact that many teachers are applying for transfer to the nearby schools after a one or two years of service and that applicant could be hired easily. Nevertheless, some teachers had tenured in this district up to their retirement period and some had flourished and raised their professional status and positions. The ground for conducting this study is that it is intended to shed light on what influences how teachers feel about their work and profession so that positive job related attitudes may be cultivated. Theoretical Background The Maslow s hierarchy of needs theory, a motivation theory, laid the foundation for job satisfaction theory. It is founded in the premise that goals or needs underpin by being the fundamental source of all desires. This theory explains that people seek to satisfy five specific needs in life physiological needs, safety needs, social needs, self esteem needs, and self actualization. In the levels of the five basic needs, the person does not feel the second need until the demands of the first

  • 25. European Imperialism In British India The works of Thomas Metcalf, T.W. Roberts, Daniel Headrick, and other notable historians explore the development of the European imperial project through the use of architecture, technology, and medicine. These technologies become the machines and driving force of imperialism and are used to retain control over colonial regions. Headrick argues that these sciences provide the means to the motives behind the imperialist powers who are working to keep their territorial subjects subdued to their will. Without the means of technology, the motive can never be achieved, and the constructed empires are inevitably doomed to failure. Along with the means of technology, the invention, use, and implantation of these technologies also reflect the broader political and social trends of the empires. Architecture, technology, and medicine showcase the changes in imperial policies, ideologies and overarching view of the empire itself. (Present or Past Tense) Metcalf s analysis of architecture in British India shows how a combination of cultures becomes essential in designing an empire that reflected both the colonizer and the subjects. After the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857, British officials realized that a serious reassessment of Indian culture was necessary for Britain to remain the colonial power. Metcalf explores the construction of the Mayo College and the architectural debates that came with building it. The formation and science behind the architecture are essential to empire building ... An early example of the criminalization of brown bodies can be seen in Los Angeles when the Spanish Crown came and deemed Native Americans as lawless and ungovernable. Then, later in time, we see the criminalization of black bodies in the South during the Reconstruction Era. Laws and ideology that are motivated by colonialism and settler colonialism, have helped put more black and brown bodies in prison and exploit them for labor through convict lease systems. Hobo did not want to conform to settler colonialism, in attempting to permanently reside in Native land, which led to them being outcasts in society. African Americans were ignored and attacked for trying to integrate in society. It is evident that colonialism has played in the social construction of race as well as a racialized global hierarchy and a system of punishment that criminalizes difference (Bosworth/Flavin 13). It is evident that these populations were criminalized because they were different and did not follow or assimilate to European culture. Incarcerating these two populations, gave Anglo Saxons free and cheap labor in the construction of Los Angeles and many construction projects in the South. [San Diego: Harcourt, 1992] 23) the speaker stands in the woods, considering a fork in the road. Both ways are equally worn, and equally overlaid with un trodden leaves. The speaker chooses one, telling himself that he will take the other another day. Yet he knows it is unlikely that he will have the opportunity to do so. And he admits that someday in the future he will recreate the scene with a slight twist: he will claim that he took the less traveled road. Frost presents to the reader a man s decision, at a turning point in his life, symbolized by two roads diverged in a yellow wood. In the first line, Frost introduces the elements of his primary metaphor: the diverging roads. The speaker expresses his regret that [he] could not travel both (line 2). The choice is not easily made since long I stood (line 3) before coming to a decision. In an attempt to make a choice, the traveler examines the path as far as [he] could (line 4), but his vision is limited because the path bends and is covered in the undergrowth (line 5). Thus, indicating that although he would have liked to acquire more information, he is prevented from doing so because of the nature of his environment. In lines 6 8, the speaker is still unable to decide between the two paths since the other, [is] just as fair (line 6). He indicates that the second path is a more attractive choice since it was grassy and wanted wear (line 8). Nevertheless, by the end of the stanza, he remains ambivalent, even after comparing the two paths, for each was really about the same (line 10). Neither path has been traveled lately. In the third stanza, the speaker makes his decision, trying to persuade himself that he will eventually come back (line 15) to satisfy his desire and curiosity to travel both paths. This quote is from the first line of the poem You Laughed and Laughed and Laughed by Gabriel Okara. Gabriel Okara is a famous author who spent the majority of his life in Nigeria. During that time there were many cultural differences between people in Africa versus people in other parts of the world. In the poem, Okara addresses the reader as a selfish person who is unwilling to listen to what he has to say about his African culture. Through contrast, metaphors, and tone Okara expresses the fact that people from other cultures aren t always welcoming towards African culture. The first important literary device that Okara uses to convey the theme of the poem is metaphors. Metaphors play a major role in the development of Okara s message; some people refuse to listen to information about African culture, by making specific comparisons that help the reader better understand the poem. To Okara, the reader seems to listen to him as if he were a motor car misfiring (Okara 19). This suggests that the reader doesn t care about what Okara has to say nor does the reader pay much attention to him. The second metaphor that Okara chooses to use is a comparison between the reader s laugh and ice. By comparing the reader s laugh to ice block laughter Okara is making a connection to how harsh their laugh is to the bitterness of the cold (Okara 19). The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
