Travelling Grace Paley Analysis
One of Man s Most Powerful Weapon: Words. It has always been said that the tongue is man s most
powerful weapon but, perhaps it is the words that the tongue speaks or the power behind the words
spoken. Literature is a body of written works. Literature can be anything from a speech to the lyrics of
a song. Something new is always learned from literature even if it is minute. Depending on the
message being sent, words have the power to provoke, calm or even inspire. In Travelling by Grace
Paley, the author s mom and sister are on the bus going to Virginia. They were laws that allowed
segregation on buses during this era, the blacks sat in the back and the whites sat in front. At one point
in the story, the bus came to a stop and they were asked to move since they were in the black section
of the bus. In silent protest, My mother said no (Paley 335). Later on in the story, those characteristics
are passed on to the author herself. This is because the word NO provoked her to stand firm in her
beliefs , In a loud voice he addressed me: Lady, I wouldn t of touched that thing with a meat hook. I
thought, Oh this world would end in ice. I could do nothing but look straight into his eyes. I did not
look away from him. Then I held that boy a little ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example is found in Sheyann Webb . In the excerpt, the African Americans were brutally beaten up
when they held a protest. But the lyrics of a song Ain t Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Round calmed
them down and unified them. We sang Ain t gonna let George Wallace turn me round . (Sikora 78).At
the end of the song they gain some amount of hope. We had really won after all. We had won! (Sikora
78). Another example is the Christmas Truce of 1914. Soldiers from Belgium Britain France and
Germany put down their rifles and sang Christmas carols together. This took place during World War
I. This shows the power of music and other forms of

A Bust of theEmperor Caligula
Introduction
Gaius Caesar Augustus Germanicus (b. A.D. 12, d. A.D. 41, emperor A.D. 37 41) represents a turning
point in the early history of the Principate. Unfortunately, his is the most poorly documented reign of
the Julio Claudian dynasty. The literary sources for these four years are meager, frequently anecdotal,
and universally hostile.[[1]] As a result, not only are many of the events of the reign unclear, but Gaius
himself appears more as a caricature than a real person, a crazed megalomaniac given to capricious
cruelty and harebrained schemes. Although some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
[[6]] Modern scholars have pored over these incidents and come up with a variety of explanations:
Gaius suffered from an illness; he was misunderstood; he was corrupted by power; or, accepting the
ancient evidence, they conclude that he was mad.[[7]] However, appreciating the nature of the ancient
sources is crucial when approaching this issue. Their unanimous hostility renders their testimony
suspect, especially since Gaius s reported behavior fits remarkably well with that of the ancient tyrant,
a literary type enshrined in Greco Roman tradition centuries before his reign. Further, the only eye
witness account of Gaius s behavior, Philo s Embassy to Gaius, offers little evidence of outright
insanity, despite the antagonism of the author, whom Gaius treated with the utmost disrespect. Rather,
he comes across as aloof, arrogant, egotistical, and cuttingly witty but not insane. The best explanation
both for Gaius s behavior and the subsequent hostility of the sources is that he was an inexperienced
young man thrust into a position of unlimited power, the true nature of which had been carefully
disguised by its founder, Augustus. Gaius, however, saw through the disguise and began to act
accordingly. This, coupled with his troubled upbringing and almost complete lack of tact led to
behavior that struck his contemporaries as

Analysis Of The Article Crucible Of Leadership
The skills required to conquer adversity and emerge stronger and more committed than ever are the
ones that make for extraordinary leaders . This quote summarizes Warren G. Bennis and Robert J.

assignment.
On 7 December 2008, 82nd ABN DIV Forward Support Company, distribution platoon was involved
in a safety accident, adjudicated as operator negligence resulting in the death of a 22 year old soldier
from Irvine, California. Furthermore, this tragedy was not only a failure in leadership, applicable
training (i.e. certification) and wrong equipment more importantly, this challenge has prepared me for
the operational unknown throughout my military career. For that reason, this formative event is
deemed as my crucible experience and inspired a pendulum shift across the military, reinforcing the
importance of safety mechanisms in garrison and deployed operational environment.
In 2008, I was a newly promoted distribution platoon leader assigned the prestigious 82nd ABN DIV.
My unit was on orders, as replacement sustainers for the 10th Mountain Division from Ft. Drum in

During the 1950s, Pepsi evolved from the low cost price leader to a more lifestyle drink approach. For
example, as Americans became more health conscious, Pepsi introduced slogans such as The Light
Refreshment and Refreshing Without Filling. Other new advertising campaigns included slogans such
as Be Sociable, Have a Pepsi and Now Its Pepsi, For Those Who Think Young to concentrate on a
younger market. It was this younger target market and the post war baby boom generation that set the
stage for Pepsi s long lasting brand image. It all started with Pepsi advertiser Alan Pottasch, who
recognized the different nature of the newest generation of consumers. Whereas consumers before the
war were more cautious and price conscious, the post war baby boomer generation was carefree and
hopeful. Pepsi once again capitalized on the changing environment, and under Pottasch launched the
Pepsi Generation campaign in 1963. The campaign was an advertising breakthrough as it helped to set
a new standard for advertising in America. The ads portrayed happy Americans living the American
dream with their Pepsis, of course. By associating its brand with youth and excitement, Pepsi Cola
became the forerunner of lifestyle marketing. Future campaigns continued to promote this brand
image, with slogans such as You ve Got a Lot to Live. Pepsi s Got a Lot to Give,

The Pros And Cons Of The Nineteenth Amendment
Not everyone in the United States agreed with the Nineteenth Amendment being passed. Two months
after the Federal Government declared that the Amendment had been incorporated to the Constitution
in August of 1920, Oscar Lesser sued to stop two women [Cecilia Street Waters and Mary D.
Randolph] to vote in Baltimore, Maryland. Lesser believed the Maryland Constitution limited the
suffrage to men . He said that Maryland had refused to vote regarding the ratification of the
Nineteenth Amendment, and should not be subject to its application.. In 1922, Leser v. Garnett, was
argued before the United States Supreme Court. The plaintiffs of the case argued that the Nineteenth
Amendment was not passed constitutionally. They claimed there were three principal grounds to their
argument, which were: that the power to amend the Constitution did not cover this amendment
because of its character ; that several states that had ratified the amendment despite the fact that their
state constitutions prohibited women from voting; and that, in particular, the ratifications of the states
of Tennessee and West Virginia were were invalid because they were adopted without following the
rules of legislative procedure in place in those states . In a unanimous decision, the court ruled that the
amendment was passed constitutionally. In their decision, the court responded to each of the three
arguments. Lesser s first argument claimed that if Amendment s are added without the State s consent,

Older Workers Persuasive Speech
Attention Getter: Our economy keep changing as fast as the speed of a roller coaster. Therefore, many
people including employers assume that workers over 45 are less productivities because younger
workers will keep up with rapid economic development better. This assumption can be against anyone
of us in the future because some of us will join the group of older workers someday.
Topic Revelation: I am Uyen Nguyen, today I will convince you to support employment protection for
older workers.
Credibility Statement: In 2013, the U.S. Department of Labor announces that one third of total U.S.
workforce is 50 years or older and predict that in 2050, the group of 65 years or older is expected to
grow by 75 percent.

to work but can not find a job. 86 percent of older workers opposed to mandatory retirement at a fixed

III. Cause As I just mentioned about the retirement plan. I want to talk more about it because the good
purpose of retirement plans unintentionally becomes the cause of age discrimination in our society.
In the book Old and Obsolete: Age Discrimination and the American Worker published in 1989, the
prejudice against older workers in the workplace did not exist before having retirement plans. Before
the 20th century, older workers, along with all others, were expected to remain economically and
socially useful as long as they were physically able to do so

ABSTRACT
Electronic payment of salaries to staff is a new development in the country. Electronic payment is a
process of making payments online through the use of ATM, Debit cards, credit cards, electronic
cheque conversion. Electronic payment of salaries was introduced so as to monitor ghost workers
among the civil servants, to prevent unnecessary expenses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This has been due to four related factors:
1. Proprietary closed network were developed by banks to handle large and increasingly
internationally based payment system.
2. Large value payment are increasingly associated with foreign exchange and global security
transactions thereby becoming divorced from underlying world trade.
3. Large value payment system were not designed nor are they cost effective for small value
payments.
4. Paper base non automated payment systems remain an established part of accepted business
practice for varying institutional reasons thereby remaining in grained in economic system.
REASONS FOR ELECTRONIC PAYMENT
The reasons for making use of electronic payment to pay staff are:
1. It helps in reducing the traffic in banking halls: This is one of the reasons for introducing E
payments because it helps in reducing corruption and misconduct in the civil service world e.g.
workers bribing accountants because they want to collect their salaries. (Nwite; 2000).
2. It also makes the work easier and relieves the banking staff of much work to be done since people
can now withdraw their money through other means e.g. ATM, Debit card etc. (Jhingan 2004).
3. It saves time: Instead of queuing up in the bank to check account balance and to withdraw money,
an SMS alert would have been sent and the customer can make withdrawal anywhere. (Becks;

The Gnostic Gospels
The Gnostic Gospels
In this essay, I will discuss about the Gnostic Gospels. To discuss this matter,
I will divide this paper in a few key points. The first is what Gnosticism is. The second is the
Gnostic gospels miscellaneous literature and the last is the conclusion of the Gnostic gospels.
What is Gnosticism?
According to Bentley (1987): Gnosis derives from Greek, and connotes knowledge or the act of
Knowing . (On first hearing, it is sometimes confused with another more Common term of the same
root but opposite sense: agnostic, literally not knowing , A knower of nothing). The Greek language

On Sunday, November 19, 2017, I visited First Presbyterian Church in Peachtree City for their 11:00
a.m. worship service. The outside of the church is pretty. It looked like how you would expect a
relatively modern church to look like. It had a bell as well. The main doors of the church were open,
and there was a man standing there greeting people as they walked in. I assume this is to make the
church seem welcoming. Upon entering the church, I noticed people were standing around and
talking. Some people were going into what I assumed was the room where the actual service was
going to be taking place. There were more men at this door as well. They were passing out little
booklets for the service. I decided to also go into this room. It was quite large. The first thing I noticed
was two large circular stain glass windows. They were very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It was not crowded, and there was a lot of empty spaces in the pews. Most people came with family.
There were many husbands and wives and some had children with them as well. There was a good
deal of people who attended on their own as well. The ages of the attendees was majority older. Most
people were definitely over the age of 30, but there were also people there who seemed to be younger
than that as well. The races of the attendees was overwhelmingly white, but there were some people of
color in attendance as well. Most of the attendees seemed most likely to be upper middle class because
of the area surrounding the church and also from looking at the cars in the parking lot. Peachtree City
is a mainly wealthy area, so it makes sense that most of the attendees at a church in the town also have
a good bit of money. The congregants were mainly dressed in nice clothing. Women wore dresses,
skirts, or nice pants, and men wore suits or a button down shirt with nice pants. The children were also
dressed nicely for the most part, but some were more casual and had on

Free Chapel Report
This week I spent a great amount of exploring the space at Free Chapel. I went on Wednesday April
6th, and was hoping to attend a service, but unfortunately they no longer have a Wednesday night
service, and hold a meeting for the men s ministry instead. In general the space inside the church is
very large, and it consist of two different level with a wide variety of room that are used for different
groups of people. Furthermore, the large cross on the outside lets people outside know what the space
is being used for, before they even enter the building. In contrast, as I began to walk around the space
I realized that there besides for a bible quote on one of the walls there are very few relics which give
the space away as a Christian space of worship. In my experience, the space of church is used as a
place where people who have some of the same beliefs can come together to learn more about the

Firstly, there was no popular music being played as people entered the room. In addition, the screen
were not in use as the sermon was going on. I believe that this is due to the fact that the church is
catering the space to the audience that they have. Additionally, the space consist of a stage and seats
similar to a normal church setting where people would to listen to the pastor/ speaker. However, in the
back there are also seats and tables where people can sit to socialize with each other. This proves that
the space is not only being used as a place to learn, but rather a place to socialized and be entertained.

Summary Of The MovieThe Martian 2014
The Martian 2015 is a very entertaining science fiction film which is accredited for its scientific
accuracy. However, some artistic liberties were taken to make the movie easier to make and progress
the plot. This paper will cover both accurate and inaccurate areas of space science featured in the film.
The portrayal of Mark Watney s separation, habitation of mars, and recovery will all be analyzed. The
way Mark gets separated from the crew is an area of inaccuracy. There are storms on mars, but the
strength of them would be much less significant. Mars has no atmosphere so the winds would not be
able to knock over the ship [1]. Though the storms may be dangerous to humans due to flying debris,
such a large ship would not be so affected. The debris would not be as dangerous as shown. Even the
strongest winds, up to 60 mph, on mars would have trouble keeping the astronauts from moving
around, and would have a tough time picking up anything even remotely tied down [1]. The chance of
debris knocking someone back and impaling them like what happened to Mark Watney would be very
unlikely. The way habitation of Mars is portrayed is a mixed bag of accuracy. The gravity on Mars is
30% that of the earth, yet Watney moves around like any earthling [2]. This makes the movie easier to
film, and if they had attempted to portray the gravity accurately, there would have been inaccuracies
anyway.
Radiation seems to be ignored almost completely besides for the device he uses to heat his rover.
Being on mars for extended periods of time would increase the chances of cancer. NASA only allows
200 rem per year [4], which Watney would almost certainly exceed being on a planet with no
atmosphere to protect from the Sun s radiation. This was probably left out as it would likely not have
immediate effects on Watney but it s still a big concern for real astronauts. Communication was
portrayed fairly accurately. The movie says the communication speed is 30 minutes there and back.
Since mars is 54.6 million miles away, data traveling at the speed of light would take 3 minutes to get
there [2]. Once data processing, inaccuracy, and other factors are accounted for, 30 minutes is realistic.

The Cry Of The Children By Elizabeth Barrett Browning
Elizabeth Barrett Browning s The Cry of the Children is a poignant look into the horrid practice of
child labor that took place in the mines and factories of 1840 s industrial England. Browning paints
such a vivid, disturbing picture that she aroused the conscience of the entire nation. A new historicist
perspective into this poem will help understand why Browning decided to take a stand and speak up
for these children through her work. The poem opens with, Do ye hear the children weeping, O my
brothers, ere the sorrow comes with years? This one sentence embodies the whole work and does a
good job drawing in the reader. Equally as important is the use of O my brothers as it relates to the
intended audience, of which Elizabeth Browning is part of. That is the upper class. If the tone were
one of reprimand for the treatment of children, instead one of a sense of shared guilt; it s possible it
may not have been so accepted by her peers. Elizabeth Barrett Browning was already a published poet
at the time she wrote Cry of the Children in 1843. In 1838, The Seraphim and Other Poems appeared,
the first volume of Elizabeth s mature poetry (Everett, 1). If fact, Browning was said to have written
poetry as early as age six. Her collection of poetry written during her childhood years is one of the
largest of all English writers. One notable poem written when she was just fourteen was called The
Battle of Marathon: A poem. This achievement at such a young age was possible

Argumentative Essay On Korean War
Pre World War III: Korean War
In this seemingly peaceful world, the Korean Peninsula has been seen as one of the hottest potatoes in
the world. Many people do not acknowledge that the Korean War has not ended, but the event settled
with just an armistice since the tension of the war became so intense between not only two Koreans,
but other major countries such as Russia, China, and the United States. Even an armistice of the war,
there still remains severe tensions in the Korean Peninsula and because of this, questions like why

The difference in size will have an impact on expense, revenue, and income. Every company plans to
get the most out of every dollar spent. Consequently, we will be comparing the their financial
performance from 2007 2009. From the beginning, Walgreens has yielded a better gross profit by an
average of 8% over CVS/Pharmacy. Gross profit is the amount left over after cost of goods sold is
taken from revenue. Although, both have been steady with their percentage gross profit,
CVS/Pharmacy 21% amp; Walgreens 28%, Walgreens has gained more. However, Walgreens
celebration is short lived because the balance statement is more than gross profit. In fact the 8% edge
in gross profit they gave back in operating expenses. Walgreens operating expenses took, on average,
22.5% away from their total revenue. CVS/Pharmacy operating expenses took only 14.5% away from
their total revenue. Moreover, other indicators of return on investment to the company are higher for
CVS/Pharmacy than Walgreens. CVS/Pharmacy has had a higher operating income than Walgreens
since 2007. For the last two years CVS/Pharmacy has posted higher income before taxes than
Walgreens. Finally, the biggest trend difference between the two firms is that CVS/Pharmacy s net
income has increased three years in a row, while Walgreens net income has steadily decreased three

Goodman Brown Ambiguity
Young Goodman Brown Evidence of Brown s encounter being real is the fact that, when the ritual
suddenly ended, Brown found himself in the exact spot that he had been, instead of in his bed,
seeming to indicate that it wasn t a dream. However, this same scene can also point to the event being
a result of Brown s imagination. All the members of the cult, who have physical bodies, vanish
instantly. Brown could very well have been sleepwalking. For all we know, Brown may have already

turn would have accelerated the pace of his own downward spiral. The Outcasts of Poker Flat It is

because it is an honor to be invited by someone of such importance to a national organization. She

Clinton states, Over the past 25 years, I have worked persistently on issues relating to women,

enough credibility to be able to speak on the rights of women, but traveling to other countries and
seeing how their women are treated contributes a proper understanding of how dire the situation truly

A final element which makes this speech effective is the use of style. Towards the middle of Clinton s

and allow peer tutoring. Lan and Bob asked to work together to correct their formative assessment,
they were the only perfect scores on the summative. The students that were not in class for the

My Life Lesson Trough A Teacher s Eyes
The Life Lesson Trough a Teacher s Eyes, is a book written by Dr. Jillian Laderhouse. This book is
like a journal where Dr. Laterhouse tells personal experiences that have shaped her life. The book
commences off with a strongly affirmation where Dr. Latehouse states that be a teacher is her life s
calling. In the introduction of the book Laterhouse establish her foundation as a teacher, she
mentioned many experiences that shape her as a teacher and recall the fact that she lived in a teacher
profession family. She mentioned stories about her childhood, stories that have shaped her life into the
teacher profession; she stated I grew in a teacher s home . As I read the book I noticed that I have not
had the same opportunity as Laterhouse to live in a teacher s home. However, as I continue reading the
book I saw that the lessons learned by the author can help me even though I did not grow in a teacher
s home. It is evident in the book the spiritual life and God centered life.
Laterhouse dived her book in seven lesson learned. Every lesson brings me to reflect about God, about
myself and about others. I consider that every lesson mentioned is important I will recall those points
that I consider important to my life. The first lesson learned was from parenting. As Laterhouse
mentioned as believers we have guidance available to us through prayer and Scripture, but became
believers does not automatically equip us with the insights and techniques to be a parent. I have

How Does The Energy Output Of Ethanol And Determine The...
Background Information
Calorimeters are devices used to indirectly calculate the energy output of burning fuels by measuring
the changes of heat in a system which can then be converted to energy by known mathematical
relationships. This investigation seeks to calculate the energy output of Ethanol and determine the
optimal calorimeter apparatus for its combustion considering different types of insulation and the best
substance in the Calorimeter to absorb the heat of the reaction.
Alcohols are an organic compound whose molecule contains one or more of the hydroxyl functional
group ( OH) that is bonded to a carbon atom of an alkyl (Nave, 2014). When alcohol is burnt, a
combustion reaction occurs with the oxygen in the air, releasing energy in the form of heat. The
specific ethanol reaction is as follows:
(ΔH = 1300 kJ/mol)
According to The First Law of Thermodynamics, the energy in a system is constant; it can be
transformed from one form to another, but cannot be created or destroyed (Purdue, 2004). Energy in
chemical reactions is released as heat, which gets transferred from a substance of higher energy, to that
of a lower energy, most commonly by conduction. Conduction occurs best with metals because their
molecules are close and they can absorb and release energy quickly, whilst mediums like air are
considered insulators because their particles are distanced (Nave, 2014).
The specific heat capacity of the substance provides a means of relating the energy

Rawls Justice As Fairness
Rawls Justice as Fairness: John Rawls was dissatisfied with the traditional philosophical approach to
justifying social and political actions therefore he attempted to provide a reasonable theory of social
justice through a contract theory approach. In his work, A Theory of Justice, Rawls bases almost the
entirety of his piece on the question, what kind of organization of society would rational persons
choose if they were in an initial position of independence and equality and setting up a system of
cooperation (A Theory of Justice enotes)? From this seemingly simple question, Rawls goes into
further detail describing what he believes society would and should do when setting up a fair and just
organizational structure. Throughout his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The veil allows for equality and ensures that no advantaged nor disadvantaged individual will be
swayed to decide a certain way on a principle due to their natural and social biases in society. One
example given in Rawls work deals with two men; one man is wealthy while the other man is poor. As
the topic of tax and reform comes up, the wealthy man pleads his case and denounces the tax and
welfare system that was in place solely because he did not want his riches taken from him. On the
other hand, the poor man pleaded his side of the discussion, fully supporting the tax and welfare
system in place, stating that the system is completely just and necessary, therefore causing a split
conclusion on the principle due to differences in characteristic bias. Therefore, to solve this difference,
Rawls created the notion of the veil of ignorance which gives neither the wealthy man nor the poor
man prior knowledge to their financial status (or any other natural/social statuses) allowing the overall
greater equality for society to be exposed. John Rawls then turns to his justice principles, arguing that
the parties in the Original Position would adopt two such principles, which would structure the
theoretical organization. The first and most important principle is the Liberty Principle. The

Swastika
In his work, Spiegelman is using animals mask to show the difference between the nationalities. Mice
for Hebrew, cats for Germans and pigs for Polish. I think that the author is using animals heads for his
characters because in this way the Germans can make much easier the difference between Hebrew and
Polish. If characters would only wear clothes with Nazi symbols or Star of David I think it would be
much harder to differentiate people. According to Spiegelman, Vladek didn t know how the swastika
is look like until late, after he was married It was the beginning of 1938 before the war hanging high
in the center of town, it was a Nazi flag. Here was the first time I saw with my eyes, the Swastika.

Computer Hacking
Computer hacking is the practice of modifying computer hardware and software to accomplish a goal
outside of the creator s original purpose. People who engage in computer hacking activities are often
called hackers. Since the word hack has long been used to describe someone who is incompetent at
his/her profession, some hackers claim this term is offensive and fails to give appropriate recognition
to their skills.
Computer hacking is most common among teenagers and young adults, although there are many older
hackers as well. Many hackers are true technology buffs who enjoy learning more about how
computers work and consider computer hacking an art form. They often enjoy programming and have
expert level skills in one particular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you are interested in protecting your home computer against malicious hackers, investing in a good
firewall is highly recommended. It s also a good idea to check your software programs for updates on
a regular basis. For example, Microsoft offers a number of free security patches for its Internet
Explorer browser.
Issues
A number of issues arise in considering hacking from the educator perspective. First, we need to
consider the fact that the public perception of hackers is mixed, and that hacking and being considered
a hacker can be quite appealing to students who are going through developmental periods in which
they are defining themselves, as well as challenging authority and rules. There is often a Robin Hood
mentality to early actions, though it is unclear exactly who the poor are, and how they are
beingcompensated . Second, the anonymity of actions which hackers perform against others often
enhances the severity of actions. For example, an adolescent who would never consider picking
someone s pocket or physically damaging someone else s property or home, might be quite willing to
steal people s credit card numbers or destroy poorly protected business or government files, since files
and credit card numbers are not tangible entities, and the damage is done anonymously.

Swot Analysis Example
SWOT usage SWOT has been used by countless practitioners, marketing researchers, and is a frequent
and popular tool for business marketing and strategy students. Its simplicity and catchy acronym
perpetuates its usage in business and beyond as the tool is used to assess alternatives and complex
decision situations. In the business arena the grouping of internal and external issues is a frequent
starting point for strategic planning. It can be constructed quickly and can benefit from multiple
viewpoints as a brainstorming exercise. Typically, managers first consider internal strengths and
weaknesses (at the top row of the 2 × 2 grid) which can include image, structure, access to natural
resources, capacity and efficiency, and financial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The 142 studies were examined for trends, issues, uses of SWOT, and value added in long term
planning. Specifically, studies were sought that indicated sole use of SWOT analysis or if SWOT was
used in combination with other long range strategic planning tools. The authors next used affinity
diagrams to group and classify the collected studies using summaries on index cards. Affinity
diagrams are a popular text clustering technique used to categorize large number of seemingly
disparate comments ([41] Dobrzynski, 2007; [106] Levesque and Walker, 2007; [132] Plain, 2007;
[196] White et al. , 2002; [117] Mango, 2006). The affinity diagram methodology was chosen due to
its importance as an interpretative, qualitative approach to research, allowing for investigation and
emergence of multiple contextual variables or classification schemes. The objective of the
methodology is to utilize the qualitative data for explanatory purposes and to generalize findings in
support of theory based on a distillation of the various respondent comments. The clustering of issues
into logical categories helps draw inferences from the data collected. Thus the goal is to better
understand categories of service failures and identify the service failures that result in customer
defection. The researchers summarized, grouped, and clustered the comments by key themes and
focus areas. Through the iterative process, major classifications were identified

Virtual Stealing
In Should Gamers Be prosecuted for Virtual Stealing? by Alex Weiss, the author attempts to argue
against a Dutch jury s decision on a case involving virtual theft. The essay discusses a Dutch court
case involving a thirteen year old who stole something from another person inside of a video game.
The author then proceeds into telling readers about stories from a game called EVE. He talks about the
value that the time is worth and his past experiences in EVE. I have found that the author was unable
to write an effective argument. The author showed weak pathos, bad ethos, and crude logos. The
author s pathos was weak in the sense that there was so little of it. He told a story of how he was once
a thief in EVE and that he has since changed. This could get people inspired to turn over a new leaf.
Weiss also stated that Kotaku said that six years of subscriptions to EVE was equivalent to one
thousand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was no real research done about RuneScape, the game the court case was on. This showed the
author to be lazy. He did do research on EVE which shows inconsideration and bias because he chose
to do research on a topic that had nothing to do with the case and it was something he was familiar
with. Weiss shows himself to being bias in the fact that he offers no rebuttal to his argument. The
author willingly gave up information in his personal story that proves himself to be dishonest and
untrustworthy. Weiss stated that he was in an e relationship with someone who thought he was a girl
(729). Weiss did use a good source when it comes to his subject. His source is good for gamers, but
the author is writing to non gamers and they may see his source as unreliable. Weiss has presented
himself to be lazy, bias, inconsiderate, dishonest, and untrustworthy. Weiss ethics will end up being
called into question and this will weaken the effectiveness of his argument rather than present himself

The Role Of Radical Colonists In Boston, Massachusetts
Boston, Massachusetts The home of radical colonists. The colony whose self ruling of 70 years would
end with British rule in 1691. My family, the Wright s, were among the first Puritans to arrive in
Massachusetts in the seventeenth century. They came here searching for religious freedom and
established a church for future generations. Since then, our colony has undergone several changes.
Our family has shifted away from religion and we are more involved with trade and commerce. As
Boston expands into a trading colony, the British would enforce more and more regulations. Several
colonists speak of unimaginable, radical ideas that seem too childish to believe it would happen to our
colonies. Rumors are spreading about unrest among colonists ... Show more content on

Most our prime resources were being heavily taxed on, like paper and our precious tea. If we had
never experienced a financial crisis, we were definitely experiencing one now. All the different
competing general stores were competing for lower prices just to get the items off the shelves, even if
it meant selling without a profit. For our store, we consumed the more expensive items and sold the
rest at such low prices that barely allowed us to buy new products to replace the empty shelves. The
most part of this act came in October. Several Bostonians began boycotting British luxury goods. This
hurt our profits even more since most of our products were labeled as luxurious. My parents were
contemplating what we would do with our family store. Father, having more of a sentimental
connection to the store, said to continue doing what we have been doing to see how long we can last.
However, mother came up with a more logical solution: we would close the store for the time being
and reopen when times get better and father would get a job that would get him more income. Mother
would stay with me and Alice and do the domestic chores. What would become of the Wrights and the

Impact Of Technology On The Banking Industry
Changing Technologies The change and advancement in technology are a significant factor in the
banking business. Technology has led to tremendous improvements in this industry. Since the
commencement of this millennium, people have shown great love for their mobile phones (Ozaki
1992). It necessitated the invention of mobile applications (APPs). From the introduction of the
mobile banking, APP people rarely go to the banks. All their transactions get done simply by the
stroke of a finger. Businesses face a challenge of adapting to changes in the technology sector. Mobile
banking either through actual investing or any other means is on the rise. According to the most recent
Federal Reserve study; most of us haven t set foot in a banking hall in ages. It is a lost battle to banks
that opt to use traditional methods to conduct their banking transactions (Gup 2003). By December of
last year, close to half of all smartphone users in the United States had transacted some or all of their
banking on their phones and iPhones. In the United Kingdom alone, rates of mobile banking
transactions doubled over the course of a single year (Scn Education 2001). A banking business that
invests in this type of technology gets assured of increasing their customer base. Continued

Determining for sure whether there are grounds to object to the search and seizure requires review of
all of the reports regarding the case. Depending on the nature and quantity of the drugs seized, this
could possibly be a serious case. In any event, the person involved should consult with a criminal
defense attorney or, if he cannot afford private counsel, with the public defender if he is charged.

Characteristics Of The Slosson Intelligence Test
Slossons Critique
The academic placement of students in today s society is largely due to professional counselors and
intelligence test. What is the role of professional counselors? The role of a professional counselor is to
make quick assessment and devise a brief effective treatment strategy (Lassiter and Bardos, 1995).
Professional counselors use a number of tools to asses intelligence or IQ like, Stanford Binet
Intelligence scale (SB5), Wechsler Adult Intelligence scale (WAIS), Otis Lennon school ability tests
etc... The Slosson Intelligence test is one of the above described tools that professional counselors use
to efficiently obtain cognitive information about children ages 2 through 7 (Erford Pauletta 2005, P.
130). The Slosson Intelligence Test includes a nonverbal scale and the development of norms (Erford
Pauletta 2005, P. 130). The Slosson Intelligence Test was designed to quantify a concept so elusive as
is intelligence.
The SIT P derives a verbal standard score or (VSS) for short, nonverbal standard score (NSS), and a
total standard score (TSS) reported on the deviation IQ scale (M=100, SD=15) (Erford Pauletta 2005,
P. 131). The motive for this study was to investigate the technical characteristics of the Slosson
Intelligence Test with three separate samples of young children (Erford Pauletta 2005, P. 131). The
Slosson Intelligence Test went through many tests in of its self to prove that what its testing is what it

article with a brief description of the QIanlong dynasty great accomplishments in the ceramic arts,
emphasizing the flamboyant style of the vases. He argues early on, that not enough time is spent
discussing how the style came to be and later expounds on the technological advances and cultural
influences that contributed to the production of such a unique style. that the works were heavily

  • 2. Travelling Grace Paley Analysis One of Man s Most Powerful Weapon: Words. It has always been said that the tongue is man s most powerful weapon but, perhaps it is the words that the tongue speaks or the power behind the words spoken. Literature is a body of written works. Literature can be anything from a speech to the lyrics of a song. Something new is always learned from literature even if it is minute. Depending on the message being sent, words have the power to provoke, calm or even inspire. In Travelling by Grace Paley, the author s mom and sister are on the bus going to Virginia. They were laws that allowed segregation on buses during this era, the blacks sat in the back and the whites sat in front. At one point in the story, the bus came to a stop and they were asked to move since they were in the black section of the bus. In silent protest, My mother said no (Paley 335). Later on in the story, those characteristics are passed on to the author herself. This is because the word NO provoked her to stand firm in her beliefs , In a loud voice he addressed me: Lady, I wouldn t of touched that thing with a meat hook. I thought, Oh this world would end in ice. I could do nothing but look straight into his eyes. I did not look away from him. Then I held that boy a little ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fagan Pennsylvania State University A Bust of theEmperor Caligula Introduction Gaius Caesar Augustus Germanicus (b. A.D. 12, d. A.D. 41, emperor A.D. 37 41) represents a turning point in the early history of the Principate. Unfortunately, his is the most poorly documented reign of the Julio Claudian dynasty. The literary sources for these four years are meager, frequently anecdotal, and universally hostile.[[1]] As a result, not only are many of the events of the reign unclear, but Gaius himself appears more as a caricature than a real person, a crazed megalomaniac given to capricious cruelty and harebrained schemes. Although some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... [[6]] Modern scholars have pored over these incidents and come up with a variety of explanations: Gaius suffered from an illness; he was misunderstood; he was corrupted by power; or, accepting the ancient evidence, they conclude that he was mad.[[7]] However, appreciating the nature of the ancient sources is crucial when approaching this issue. Their unanimous hostility renders their testimony suspect, especially since Gaius s reported behavior fits remarkably well with that of the ancient tyrant, a literary type enshrined in Greco Roman tradition centuries before his reign. Further, the only eye witness account of Gaius s behavior, Philo s Embassy to Gaius, offers little evidence of outright insanity, despite the antagonism of the author, whom Gaius treated with the utmost disrespect. Rather, he comes across as aloof, arrogant, egotistical, and cuttingly witty but not insane. The best explanation both for Gaius s behavior and the subsequent hostility of the sources is that he was an inexperienced young man thrust into a position of unlimited power, the true nature of which had been carefully disguised by its founder, Augustus. Gaius, however, saw through the disguise and began to act accordingly. This, coupled with his troubled upbringing and almost complete lack of tact led to behavior that struck his contemporaries as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Pros And Cons Of The Nineteenth Amendment Not everyone in the United States agreed with the Nineteenth Amendment being passed. Two months after the Federal Government declared that the Amendment had been incorporated to the Constitution in August of 1920, Oscar Lesser sued to stop two women [Cecilia Street Waters and Mary D. Randolph] to vote in Baltimore, Maryland. Lesser believed the Maryland Constitution limited the suffrage to men . He said that Maryland had refused to vote regarding the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment, and should not be subject to its application.. In 1922, Leser v. Garnett, was argued before the United States Supreme Court. The plaintiffs of the case argued that the Nineteenth Amendment was not passed constitutionally. They claimed there were three principal grounds to their argument, which were: that the power to amend the Constitution did not cover this amendment because of its character ; that several states that had ratified the amendment despite the fact that their state constitutions prohibited women from voting; and that, in particular, the ratifications of the states of Tennessee and West Virginia were were invalid because they were adopted without following the rules of legislative procedure in place in those states . • 14. Summary Of The MovieThe Martian 2014 The Martian 2015 is a very entertaining science fiction film which is accredited for its scientific accuracy. However, some artistic liberties were taken to make the movie easier to make and progress the plot. This paper will cover both accurate and inaccurate areas of space science featured in the film. The portrayal of Mark Watney s separation, habitation of mars, and recovery will all be analyzed. The way Mark gets separated from the crew is an area of inaccuracy. There are storms on mars, but the strength of them would be much less significant. Mars has no atmosphere so the winds would not be able to knock over the ship [1]. Though the storms may be dangerous to humans due to flying debris, such a large ship would not be so affected. The debris would not be as dangerous as shown. Even the strongest winds, up to 60 mph, on mars would have trouble keeping the astronauts from moving around, and would have a tough time picking up anything even remotely tied down [1]. The chance of debris knocking someone back and impaling them like what happened to Mark Watney would be very unlikely. The way habitation of Mars is portrayed is a mixed bag of accuracy. The gravity on Mars is 30% that of the earth, yet Watney moves around like any earthling [2]. This makes the movie easier to film, and if they had attempted to portray the gravity accurately, there would have been inaccuracies anyway. Radiation seems to be ignored almost completely besides for the device he uses to heat his rover. Being on mars for extended periods of time would increase the chances of cancer. NASA only allows 200 rem per year [4], which Watney would almost certainly exceed being on a planet with no atmosphere to protect from the Sun s radiation. This was probably left out as it would likely not have immediate effects on Watney but it s still a big concern for real astronauts. Communication was portrayed fairly accurately. The movie says the communication speed is 30 minutes there and back. Since mars is 54.6 million miles away, data traveling at the speed of light would take 3 minutes to get there [2]. Once data processing, inaccuracy, and other factors are accounted for, 30 minutes is realistic. (54.6 x 10^6 km)(1 hour/1.079 x 10^9 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. The Cry Of The Children By Elizabeth Barrett Browning Elizabeth Barrett Browning s The Cry of the Children is a poignant look into the horrid practice of child labor that took place in the mines and factories of 1840 s industrial England. Browning paints such a vivid, disturbing picture that she aroused the conscience of the entire nation. A new historicist perspective into this poem will help understand why Browning decided to take a stand and speak up for these children through her work. The poem opens with, Do ye hear the children weeping, O my brothers, ere the sorrow comes with years? This one sentence embodies the whole work and does a good job drawing in the reader. Equally as important is the use of O my brothers as it relates to the intended audience, of which Elizabeth Browning is part of. That is the upper class. If the tone were one of reprimand for the treatment of children, instead one of a sense of shared guilt; it s possible it may not have been so accepted by her peers. Elizabeth Barrett Browning was already a published poet at the time she wrote Cry of the Children in 1843. In 1838, The Seraphim and Other Poems appeared, the first volume of Elizabeth s mature poetry (Everett, 1). If fact, Browning was said to have written poetry as early as age six. In the introduction of the book Laterhouse establish her foundation as a teacher, she mentioned many experiences that shape her as a teacher and recall the fact that she lived in a teacher profession family. She mentioned stories about her childhood, stories that have shaped her life into the teacher profession; she stated I grew in a teacher s home . As I read the book I noticed that I have not had the same opportunity as Laterhouse to live in a teacher s home. However, as I continue reading the book I saw that the lessons learned by the author can help me even though I did not grow in a teacher s home. It is evident in the book the spiritual life and God centered life. Laterhouse dived her book in seven lesson learned. Every lesson brings me to reflect about God, about myself and about others. I consider that every lesson mentioned is important I will recall those points that I consider important to my life. The first lesson learned was from parenting. As Laterhouse mentioned as believers we have guidance available to us through prayer and Scripture, but became believers does not automatically equip us with the insights and techniques to be a parent. • 22. How Does The Energy Output Of Ethanol And Determine The... Background Information Calorimeters are devices used to indirectly calculate the energy output of burning fuels by measuring the changes of heat in a system which can then be converted to energy by known mathematical relationships. This investigation seeks to calculate the energy output of Ethanol and determine the optimal calorimeter apparatus for its combustion considering different types of insulation and the best substance in the Calorimeter to absorb the heat of the reaction. Alcohols are an organic compound whose molecule contains one or more of the hydroxyl functional group ( OH) that is bonded to a carbon atom of an alkyl (Nave, 2014). When alcohol is burnt, a combustion reaction occurs with the oxygen in the air, releasing energy in the form of heat. The specific ethanol reaction is as follows: (ΔH = 1300 kJ/mol) According to The First Law of Thermodynamics, the energy in a system is constant; it can be transformed from one form to another, but cannot be created or destroyed (Purdue, 2004). Energy in chemical reactions is released as heat, which gets transferred from a substance of higher energy, to that of a lower energy, most commonly by conduction. Conduction occurs best with metals because their molecules are close and they can absorb and release energy quickly, whilst mediums like air are considered insulators because their particles are distanced (Nave, 2014). The specific heat capacity of the substance provides a means of relating the energy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Rawls Justice As Fairness Rawls Justice as Fairness: John Rawls was dissatisfied with the traditional philosophical approach to justifying social and political actions therefore he attempted to provide a reasonable theory of social justice through a contract theory approach. In his work, A Theory of Justice, Rawls bases almost the entirety of his piece on the question, what kind of organization of society would rational persons choose if they were in an initial position of independence and equality and setting up a system of cooperation (A Theory of Justice enotes)? From this seemingly simple question, Rawls goes into further detail describing what he believes society would and should do when setting up a fair and just organizational structure. Throughout his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The veil allows for equality and ensures that no advantaged nor disadvantaged individual will be swayed to decide a certain way on a principle due to their natural and social biases in society. One example given in Rawls work deals with two men; one man is wealthy while the other man is poor. As the topic of tax and reform comes up, the wealthy man pleads his case and denounces the tax and welfare system that was in place solely because he did not want his riches taken from him. On the other hand, the poor man pleaded his side of the discussion, fully supporting the tax and welfare system in place, stating that the system is completely just and necessary, therefore causing a split conclusion on the principle due to differences in characteristic bias. Therefore, to solve this difference, Rawls created the notion of the veil of ignorance which gives neither the wealthy man nor the poor man prior knowledge to their financial status (or any other natural/social statuses) allowing the overall greater equality for society to be exposed. John Rawls then turns to his justice principles, arguing that the parties in the Original Position would adopt two such principles, which would structure the theoretical organization. The first and most important principle is the Liberty Principle. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I think that the author is using animals heads for his characters because in this way the Germans can make much easier the difference between Hebrew and Polish. If characters would only wear clothes with Nazi symbols or Star of David I think it would be much harder to differentiate people. According to Spiegelman, Vladek didn t know how the swastika is look like until late, after he was married It was the beginning of 1938 before the war hanging high in the center of town, it was a Nazi flag. • 25. Computer Hacking Computer hacking is the practice of modifying computer hardware and software to accomplish a goal outside of the creator s original purpose. People who engage in computer hacking activities are often called hackers. Since the word hack has long been used to describe someone who is incompetent at his/her profession, some hackers claim this term is offensive and fails to give appropriate recognition to their skills. Computer hacking is most common among teenagers and young adults, although there are many older hackers as well. Many hackers are true technology buffs who enjoy learning more about how computers work and consider computer hacking an art form. If you are interested in protecting your home computer against malicious hackers, investing in a good firewall is highly recommended. It s also a good idea to check your software programs for updates on a regular basis. For example, Microsoft offers a number of free security patches for its Internet Explorer browser. Issues A number of issues arise in considering hacking from the educator perspective. First, we need to consider the fact that the public perception of hackers is mixed, and that hacking and being considered a hacker can be quite appealing to students who are going through developmental periods in which they are defining themselves, as well as challenging authority and rules. There is often a Robin Hood mentality to early actions, though it is unclear exactly who the poor are, and how they are beingcompensated . Second, the anonymity of actions which hackers perform against others often enhances the severity of actions. For example, an adolescent who would never consider picking someone s pocket or physically damaging someone else s property or home, might be quite willing to steal people s credit card numbers or destroy poorly protected business or government files, since files and credit card numbers are not tangible entities, and the damage is done anonymously. Its simplicity and catchy acronym perpetuates its usage in business and beyond as the tool is used to assess alternatives and complex decision situations. In the business arena the grouping of internal and external issues is a frequent starting point for strategic planning. It can be constructed quickly and can benefit from multiple viewpoints as a brainstorming exercise. Typically, managers first consider internal strengths and weaknesses (at the top row of the 2 × 2 grid) which can include image, structure, access to natural resources, capacity and efficiency, and financial ... Specifically, studies were sought that indicated sole use of SWOT analysis or if SWOT was used in combination with other long range strategic planning tools. The authors next used affinity diagrams to group and classify the collected studies using summaries on index cards. Affinity diagrams are a popular text clustering technique used to categorize large number of seemingly disparate comments ([41] Dobrzynski, 2007; [106] Levesque and Walker, 2007; [132] Plain, 2007; [196] White et al. , 2002; [117] Mango, 2006). The affinity diagram methodology was chosen due to its importance as an interpretative, qualitative approach to research, allowing for investigation and emergence of multiple contextual variables or classification schemes. The objective of the methodology is to utilize the qualitative data for explanatory purposes and to generalize findings in support of theory based on a distillation of the various respondent comments. The clustering of issues into logical categories helps draw inferences from the data collected. Thus the goal is to better understand categories of service failures and identify the service failures that result in customer defection. The researchers summarized, grouped, and clustered the comments by key themes and focus areas. Through the iterative process, major classifications were identified ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Virtual Stealing In Should Gamers Be prosecuted for Virtual Stealing? by Alex Weiss, the author attempts to argue against a Dutch jury s decision on a case involving virtual theft. The essay discusses a Dutch court case involving a thirteen year old who stole something from another person inside of a video game. The author then proceeds into telling readers about stories from a game called EVE. He talks about the value that the time is worth and his past experiences in EVE. I have found that the author was unable to write an effective argument. The author showed weak pathos, bad ethos, and crude logos. The author s pathos was weak in the sense that there was so little of it. He told a story of how he was once a thief in EVE and that he has since changed. This could get people inspired to turn over a new leaf. Weiss also stated that Kotaku said that six years of subscriptions to EVE was equivalent to one thousand ... Weiss shows himself to being bias in the fact that he offers no rebuttal to his argument. My family, the Wright s, were among the first Puritans to arrive in Massachusetts in the seventeenth century. They came here searching for religious freedom and established a church for future generations. Since then, our colony has undergone several changes. Our family has shifted away from religion and we are more involved with trade and commerce. As Boston expands into a trading colony, the British would enforce more and more regulations. For our store, we consumed the more expensive items and sold the rest at such low prices that barely allowed us to buy new products to replace the empty shelves. The most part of this act came in October. Several Bostonians began boycotting British luxury goods. This hurt our profits even more since most of our products were labeled as luxurious. My parents were contemplating what we would do with our family store. Father, having more of a sentimental connection to the store, said to continue doing what we have been doing to see how long we can last. • 29. Impact Of Technology On The Banking Industry Changing Technologies The change and advancement in technology are a significant factor in the banking business. Technology has led to tremendous improvements in this industry. Since the commencement of this millennium, people have shown great love for their mobile phones (Ozaki 1992). It necessitated the invention of mobile applications (APPs). From the introduction of the mobile banking, APP people rarely go to the banks. All their transactions get done simply by the stroke of a finger. Businesses face a challenge of adapting to changes in the technology sector. Mobile banking either through actual investing or any other means is on the rise. According to the most recent Federal Reserve study; most of us haven t set foot in a banking hall in ages. It is a lost battle to banks that opt to use traditional methods to conduct their banking transactions (Gup 2003). By December of last year, close to half of all smartphone users in the United States had transacted some or all of their banking on their phones and iPhones. In the United Kingdom alone, rates of mobile banking transactions doubled over the course of a single year (Scn Education 2001). • 31. Characteristics Of The Slosson Intelligence Test Slossons Critique The academic placement of students in today s society is largely due to professional counselors and intelligence test. What is the role of professional counselors? The role of a professional counselor is to make quick assessment and devise a brief effective treatment strategy (Lassiter and Bardos, 1995). Professional counselors use a number of tools to asses intelligence or IQ like, Stanford Binet Intelligence scale (SB5), Wechsler Adult Intelligence scale (WAIS), Otis Lennon school ability tests etc... The Slosson Intelligence test is one of the above described tools that professional counselors use to efficiently obtain cognitive information about children ages 2 through 7 (Erford Pauletta 2005, P. 130). The Slosson Intelligence Test includes a nonverbal scale and the development of norms (Erford Pauletta 2005, P. 130). The Slosson Intelligence Test was designed to quantify a concept so elusive as is intelligence. The SIT P derives a verbal standard score or (VSS) for short, nonverbal standard score (NSS), and a total standard score (TSS) reported on the deviation IQ scale (M=100, SD=15) (Erford Pauletta 2005, P. 131). The motive for this study was to investigate the technical characteristics of the Slosson Intelligence Test with three separate samples of young children (Erford Pauletta 2005, P. 131).
