4. Social Message In The Sun Rising
Take me to church contains a strong social message that criticizes centralized
religion and its desire to oppress the true nature of men and women. In fact, Hozier
defies the idea of the original sin and argues that our sinful nature is what makes us
human. He uses rhetorical devices such as apostrophe, allusion and oxymoron in
order to mock centralized religionand define human s sinful pleasures as the
pinnacles of our virtue.
Hozier demonstrates his humanistic point of view in the chorus, where he explicitly
criticizes centralized church and God himself. In order to express his anger, the
speaker uses a rhetorical trope called apostrophe. Since it takes strength to address a
deity, the apostrophe serves to exhibit humans bravery and self reliance. ... Show

In the first case, the narrator s lover speaks for the heavens, whereas Donne s
mistress is beautiful enough to blind the Sun. Thus, the two authors twist the roles
of humans and deities. Sun is no longer sun; a beautiful woman who had just been
engaged in sexual ritual becomes the Sun. Similarly, Hozier s speaker exalts his
lover by calling her the new Goddess. The act of making love functions as a way to
express one s inner passion and turn away from the madness of life s routine. In
both poems, bed is the real church, not a religious structure: Worship in the bedroom
(Hozier) and This bed thy center is (Donne). In fact, Worship in the bedroom is an
allusion to a biblical teaching, but Hozier twists its meaning in order to advance the
notion of sexual

Both physical and emotional abuse explored The Colour Purple and The Help
helps to create awareness of the central issues. Both are novels that carry a lot of
similarities, where the female characters are portrayed as invisible , servants and
child carers . However, after reading carefully into the biographical work of both
authors the critical difference I observed was that The Colour Purple is written by
an African American woman who may have truly experienced the harshness of
what she was writing about; on the other hand The Help by a white woman who
had servants at an early age of her life, who would help her has enabled me to
consider not only if the novellacks authenticity but if Kathryn s reason to writing the
novel was to catch the readers mind about such harsh conditions of to actually affect
the audience with the physical and emotional abuse. Walker was born in 1944,
Georgia, USA, a life rooted in the hardship of the racial terror and the wisdom of the
African American life and culture of that time. On the other hand, Kathryn Stockett
was born 1969, Jackson, Mississippi, USA, after the uproar of the civil rights
movement; she is an English/Creative Writing graduate of the University of Alabama.
Through further reading of Kathryn Stocketts upbringing in multiple articles,
growing up in Mississippi, Stockett had a much pampered lifestyle; she had a maid

6. Western Civilization
Through out the history of Western Civilization we have seen many important
moments occur. From the Neolithic revolution, to humans conquering and spreading
across the globe, there are many moments that have shaped its history and the present
day. In this essay I will mention 5 of the most important moments/changes in Western
Civilization and the reasons for why they are so important to societies in the western
worldand beyond.
My first mention is the Neolithic Revolution. Prior to the Neolithic Revolution,
humans lived in an age called the Paleolithic Age. In this time, humans were
nomadic hunter and gatherers. They did not make permeant settlements and lived
on the go, following animal migrations and vegetation cycles. It wasn t until after
the end of the last ice age around 10,000 B.C. when humans changed from hunter
and gatherer nomads to learning how to grow their own crops and settling down
into locations and settlements with other peoples. This was a big change for
humans moving forward. Humans could now participate in trade with others and
instead of being on the go all the time, they now had a chance to settle down and
build shelter and participate in things that they couldn t prior. This change in human
ways also gave rise to what is patriarchy. As the book says, Men assumed the
responsibility for working in the fields and herding animals, jobs that kept them away
from the home while the women took on the roles of caring for the children, weaving
cloth, and

The obvious question is whether auditors should be blame when they failing to warn

opinion, auditors should be blame when they did not provide sufficient and useful

9. Labelling Theory And Its Elements Essay
Hammersley s Which side was Becker on vividly discusses methods and political
principles that primarily focus on social structures; however, Becker s article has
been hard to understand while mostly being misinterpreted. Becker, believes that
systematic and rigorous sociological research inevitably tends to have radical
political implications (p. 91). Trying to understand the radical side of Becker s
article, it can be seen as if we the people are being forced to choose sides. Becker
voices his concern when he explicitly states that, the question is not whether we
should take sides, since we inevitable will, but whose side we are on (p. 239).
Throughout this essay, I will discuss what I thought was vital such as labelling
theory and its elements, accusations, and how this article relates to Becker s article
Outsiders. Becker also discusses how labelling theory helped transformed how us
researchers understand crime and deviance. Labelling theory is well known for its
for its focus of inquiry and how different types of act as well as individuals come to
be labelled as what one would consider deviant. There are labellers and the labelled.
A labeller is an individual who is labelling one of a deviant behavior while the
labelled is the individual who is being accused of committing a deviant behavior. In
addition, how does one become deviant and who has the right to label? One can
become deviant off of peer pressure, jobless, drugs, and so on. However, anyone can

The effect of utilization of ultrasound via an increase in local blood flow can be used
to help reduce local swelling and chronic inflammation, and, according to some
studies promote bone fracture healing [6]. There are two different ways in which US
can be used to treat disease, continuous and pulsed ultrasound. Continuous
ultrasounds are typically responsible for the heating effect in the tissues because it
uses an unmodulated continuous wave ultrasound beam with limited intensities. In
comparison, the pulsed ultrasound beam is modulated to deliver brief pulses of high
intensity separated by longer pauses of no power. It is suggested that pulsed
Ultrasound be recommended for acute pain and inflammation and continuous
ultrasound for the treatment of restricted movement [7]. In general, ultrasound is a
safe treatment that has been used in osteoarthritis therapy for years. It delivers heat to
deep structures of the body, and it is thought that this heat helps improve that way
that your body heals. Numerous studies found positive links between ultrasound and
bone healing. It is both cost effective and produced no serious complications or side
effects which is an advantage over other types of treatments used in therapy of bone

12. An Analysis of Conflict in the Novel the Son of Neptune
Do conflicts develop our characters and help us attain our goals? Following the
theme of conflict in the novel the Son of Neptune, Rick Riordan uses conflict to
make the piece of writing more interesting. Riordan incorporates different types of
conflict in the novel to show how the heroes must co operate with each other to
complete their quest.
The conflict between the hero and his family shows a subsequent reaction further in
the novel. The author is showing the hero struggling with his family which helps to
form a closer bond with his friends. Riordan shows the hero separating himself
from his father, Mars, the god of war, whom the hero despises, by working closer
with his friends on the quest that is given to them (Son of Neptune, 151). When this
meeting occurs, the hero is confronted by old memories which handicap him during
the quest and needs the help of his friends to aid him on his quest. As well as
mentally in conflict with his family, the hero displays common exhibits of grief for his
family which is an opening to express hurt or anger from experience elsewhere
(Varieties of Family Conflict in Adolescence). The author shows the hero using the
death of his mother and his new found father to inflict pain on other family members.
With this much trouble in his family, Riordan shows how the hero depends on his
friends to help him throughout the story.
As well as being in conflict with his family, the hero is battling the thought of dying
every single day.

Maglev is a system in which the vehicle runs levitated from the guideway

forces between superconducting magnets on board the vehicle and coils on the
ground. The following is a general explanation of the principle of Maglev.

1.1.1 Magnetic Levitation

Critics of the Pittsburgh project are questioning the use of public money, the
philosophy of building the largest parking garage in Pittsburgh near Downtown
rather than on the outskirts, competing with the Port Authority for funds and riders
and whether any short transit system to the Civic Arena serves a worthwhile
purpose. Q. What happens if I m aboard the Civic Arena Maglev shuttle and it

to reach a combination emergency/maintenance walkway between the parallel

car dies because of lost power or a mechanical problem. It could go out on the track
to push or tow a crippled car. Meanwhile, Maglev would maintain service on the
opposite track. Maglev cars are to contain recessed emergency wheels, so if the cars
lose their levitation, they can still ride on the guideway. Plans for the Civic Arena

14. How To Get Credit For A New Business Case Study
How to get credit for a new business
Written by Janet Gershen Siegel
Do you know how a new business can acquire a business line of credit? As a new
business, by definition, you have no or little business credit history, so it could be
difficult. When you ask: What is the credit score of a new business? The answer is it s
usually not so hot. But you can get past that. Here are some ideas which will work.
Use your personal credit to get started
At some point, you will want to stop doing this, but at the beginning, you have got to
get your new business off the ground, and that means you will need developmental
funding. This is funding to do anything from paying a rental deposit for an office to
purchasing a set of prototypes for a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No matter which kind of vendor you get trade credit with, be responsible and, of
course, pay them on time (and early, if you can swing that). Not only does that
reinforce and maintain that relationship, it also counts toward your credit score.
Be responsible with any credit you ve got, including personal
This may feel a bit like an obvious fact, but your use of currently existing credit will
be what any creditor (trade or banks, etc.) will use to ascertain if you can pay your
bills on time and are, therefore, what is considered a good credit risk. Suddenly
squandering all of your personal credit at the tables in Vegas is not going to endear
you to future lenders. New companies in particular, no matter how cautious they
are, are generally evaluated as the full credit package. That is, both personal and
business credit scores are under consideration. If you look like a bad credit risk on
the personal credit side, you ll appear, to future lenders and creditors, to be an
equally poor credit risk on the business side of things.
Establish your business under IRS rules
And finally, because a new business and its credit will inevitably be conflated with
the personal credit of its founder(s), take steps to separate the two. One of the most
significant steps you can take is to apply for an IRS EIN (employer identification
number). By declaring to the IRS that your new business is the real deal, and not just
a pipe dream
15. Yellow Dung Fly Breeding
Success of male yellow dung fly breeding.
Introduction
Looking at the yellow dung fly, Scathophaga stercoraria, it is seen that the species
experiences sexual dimorphism in the form of both size and colour. This gives
changes between the males and females that are specially adapted to give them the
best chance of producing offspring. Males are considerably larger than the females
and have clearly defining yellow hair along the abdomen, whereas females are
smaller and are more of an olive green colour. Copulation for this species occurs on
large mammal faeces as it acts as a source of nutrition for larvae once eggs are
hatched. The right to breed with a female is highly competitive among yellow dung
flies and only the most suited mate or the most opportunistic mate will be able to
pass on its sperm. Assessing the size of males is key when looking at the mating
probability of the yellow dung fly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mean HTL of the 4 different male yellow dung fly categories. The mean size for
males found on the faeces is clearly larger than those off the pat, and the mean HTL
is the largest in paired males on the pat.
Looking at Fig 1. it can be speculated that larger males are more successful at
copulating, however with the data presented there is not a large enough sample size
over the two sites to confirm this. Males on the pat are larger on both instances
compared to males off the pat but due to overlapping of error bars, it cannot be
stated with confidence that they are indeed more successful. The only statement
that can be made with confidence is that paired males on the pat are considerably
larger than solo males off the pat, this can be stated as the error bars do not
overlap. With only one sample of paired males off the pat, there is no way to know
if error bars would overlap with any other group if the sample size was larger. The
paired males off the pat then can be only taken as an estimation because of this.
16. Cultural Ideology In Blade Runner
Ideology is defined as a comprehensive set of normative beliefs, conscious and
unconscious ideas that structure how individuals see themselves and interact with
others. Accordingly, there seem to be a set of primary values that float around the
plot of Blade Runner, cultural appropriation and a lack of minority identity and
representation. On the surface, Blade Runnerseamlessly fits into the category of
timeless Sci Fi classics with its star studded cast of Harrison Ford, Sean Young, and
Emmet Walsh. The film s basic premise follows the protagonist Rick Deckard
(Harrison Ford), an ex cop and self described killer in retirement, who hunts down

Arguably, it can be assumed that a world in which a white man (Dr. Eldon Tyrell)
who owns the Tyrell company, the main distributor of replicants, would result in the
lack of diversity in creation. Following the pattern of narrative conventions, which
reinforce the dominant ideology in Blade Runner, where do the identities of race
and ethnicity live if not within the subtleness of imagery and signage? Review of the
evidence would clearly show that Blade Runner s definition of the forthcoming
future consists of a future that doesn t include and or misrepresents minorities
altogether. Is Blade Runner purposefully presenting a future that excludes
minorities? The obvious is no, meaning is constructed by the viewers as the director
can only do his or her best to conduct a fluid projection of their story. In this case,
Scott created a masterful depiction of a post modern, neo noir esque world in which
we as humans co exist with androids. Although the meaning of Blade Runner is up
for interpretation, the argument of racial identity and the lack of people of color still
remains. While minority culture is displayed through the vast signage and
advertisement on the buildings of Los Angeles, and the short screen time of the
casual bystander being African American or of Asian descent, bad representation is
not representation. Are people of color not

Already existing tap water in Egypt is known for its high chlorine content water

fresh water or ensure that the already existing taps run only fresh water or water

however has to be clean water that is fit for not only domestic use, but also human
consumption (Miller, 2009).As opposed to previous times when tap water in
Egypt was highly chlorinated; a purification system ought to be used in ensuring
that tap water is fresh. Taps should thus be situated in both rural and urban areas.
This would not be so difficult since only 5 percent of the land is inhabited. The
cost of putting in place such fresh water taps would be affordable to the
government, considering the fact that over 55.5 billion is spent to deal with water
issues. c.Costs and Vending Equipment The government should also make some
water vending machines at least in the urban areas of Egypt so that fresh bottled
water can easily be obtained upon inserting coins in the said machine. This would
be a bit expensive and can thus be made only in the urban centers where the people
are likely to afford using such services as a safe way of accessing clean water for
consumption. Upon evaluating the above given options to solving the water problem,
the government of Egypt will be faced

The Impact of Technology
Computers, laptops, cellphones, and eventually artificial intelligence? Technology
has sure been advancing rapidly, and will continue to advance for years to come.
Think about all of the tasks that once required a trip to the library that can now easily
be done with a computer. Google s search engine, for instance, significantly simplifies
research you simply enter what you want, and the engine spews out the relevant
information. But the harmful effects are plentiful as well. Nicholas Carr addresses
popular concerns in Is Google Making Us Stupid, arguing that technology is molding
the human brain into an efficiency prioritizing machine, one less flexible, less artistic
than the human mind. Although technology inspires artists and informs authors, it is
mostly making people stupid, for it encourages a skimming mentality and cultivates
impatience.
Before revealing technology s harmful effects, it is important to address its benefits.
Proponents of technology argue of its importance in artistic inspiration. For instance,
websites like Soundcloud, Youtube, and deviantArt allow users to share
accomplishments, and many young artists are guided by the social media of
successful artists. While it is true that the internet inspires artists, it is equally true

20. Analysis Of Defeat By Kahlil Gibran
Poet Kahlil Gibran, in his poem Defeat, portrays defeat as something that can affect
a person positively. Taking an unusual stance towards defeat, Gibran s purpose is to
change his audience s perspective about what failure actually means. Throughout the
poem, Gibran goes through a variety of moods, exemplifying the emotional process
that people generally go through when faced with defeat. In each stanza, the poet
holds a different point of view towards defeat by adopting a sarcastic tone in the
beginning, only to switch it later on to a confident and resilient one; this better
portrays the idea that defeat does not have to be tied to negative connotations.
Through Gibran s use of personification, paradox, and the ongoing metaphor to the 5
stages of grief, the author is able to convey the idea that he speaks from experience
and that defeat can be empowering and something to learn from.
At the beginning of the poem, the author personifies defeat and experiences the first
two stages of grief to show the audience his own internal struggle with defeat.
Gibran does this to convince his audience that, although it is difficult to see, defeat
is a very valuable experience. The beginning of each stanza starts with Defeat, my
Defeat, creating a beginning syntax similar to that of a letter. By capitalizing the
first letter of defeat and addressing it as an actual person as well as using words
associated with endearments to speak about defeat, addressing it as dearer and
sweeter to
21. Similarities Between The Raven And Annabel Lee
The Raven and Annabel Lee are both poems written by the famous author, Edgar
Allan Poe. In each of these poems, Poe wrote what he knew which was sadness,
abandonment, loss, and grief. The Raven and Annabel Lee describe the difficult
and depressed life of Edgar Allan Poe. Poe relates his work to his past in many ways.
Poe had a harsh life, and the people he was closest to all died which explains the
tone of these poems. In Annabel Leehe talks about a maiden whom the angels took
away from him, because they were jealous of their love. Many believe the maiden
Poe speaks of is Mrs. Stanard, Poe s best friend s mother who treated Poe as her own.
Mrs. Stanard, Poe s mother, Poe s wife, and Poe s foster mother all died of
tuberculosis.

It didn t have a name, really. Oh, it probably did have a name on maps and charts

Located somewhere among the Islands that made up the nation of Kiribati, in the
South Pacific Ocean, The Island was geographically only a few hundred nautical
miles south of the equator. The nearest substantial landmass was Papua New Guinea,
but if you wanted real civilisation, then your best bet was Australia.
The Island was...unique. It was privately owned, and the owner was a reclusive

such things were virtually useless on The Island anyway. Why steal here when you

UTAH v. STRIEFF
Reading over UTAH v. STRIEFF I will expound on some facts of the case that
impacted some of the decision making in police administration. Narcotics detective
Douglas Fackrell was surveilling a South Salt Lake City residence due to the
anonymous tip on suspicious drug activity. Based on his surveillance he determined
that the resident was drug dealing. Detective Fackrell saw Strieff leaving the
residence. He identified and detained Strieff to answer questions about what was
going on inside the house. He ran a check and discovered he had an outstanding arrest
warrant for a traffic violation. Detective Fackrell searched him and found little

Assuming but not determining Detective Fackrell did not have enough grounds to
stop Strieff at first, but when he was made known of the arrest warrant; it attenuated
the connection with the unlawful stop and the evidence detained from Strieff
incident to his arrest. He discovered the drugs only in the minutes after his illegal
stop. Although he had a valid warrant, it had nothing to do with the discovery of
evidence. The warrant only allowed Detective Fackrell to arrest Strieff, but his search
of Strieff s incident to that arrest was considered lawful. The detective was careless in
nature and called his judgment to be questioned. Did he violate Strieff s Fourth
Amendment rights? Although his conducted an unlawful stop, his conduct was
lawful, and there are no signs that the stop was part of any systemic or police
misconduct. At this point, Detective Fackrell s judgment should not constitute a
warrant suppression. He was not there just to poke at Shierff. He was there to gather
information about his investigation. Strieff says otherwise due to the absence of
probable cause.
The court determined a baseline or how they were going to exclude evidence based
on the Fourth Amendment violation. Dismissal is only necessary when the benefits
outweigh its costs. The exclusionary rule is very vital in determining if the police
officer s conduct was unlawful. By excluding the illegally obtained evidence, courts

25. Essay on This Land Is Your Land Analysis
This Land Is Your Land
By: Woody Guthrie
There are many fold songs that go unheard. But when you go back to the roots of
folk music, there is one that most every American recognizes. This Land Is Your
Land has been a staple of Americana for nearly 75 years. The lyrics start off by
giving a visual image of the vastness of America. It mentions California and the New
York Island which focuses on the widest breadth of the country. Then it mentions the
Redwood Forest (Which is also in California), and the Gulf Stream waters which are
two easily recognizable features that are unique to America. While reminding the
listener in the first line that this land is both theirs and his, and in the last line of the
chorus that the land was not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The other side of that sign was made for everyone, he says. So he is saying that the
other side of that sign is equally everyones and nobody has a right to keep certain
people out. He goes on to say in the next verse that nobody that is living can ever
stop him as he is walking down the freedom highway. Nobody living can ever make
him turn back, because this land was made for everyone. He is just saying that he
will not give up just because it is hard. When the land was MADE for everyone, he
is not going to stop until he has reached it. The last verse that is kept out of the
song is without a doubt the very best one. It says that he has seen his people in the
squares of the city and in the shadow of a steeple, beside the relief office they are
standing hungry. This brought to mind the question to Woody, after everything that
he had seen, was this land really made for everyone? After seeing all this beautiful
country, he thought that there was no reason that anyone couldn t be where they
wanted to be and do what they wanted to do. It seemed to him that the land was
made for everyone. But then he realizes, that in the most popular and booming
sections of the city, there are people lining up that the relief office to get help

importantly, Asad explores the importance of power in religion. Talal s views were
simple, Geertz formula was too simple to accommodate different cultures. With this
in mind, Zande divination is a notion that explains unfortunate events. The concept of
witchcraft supplies the missing link and inexplicable situations lead to rituals,
revenge, and oracles. According to Asad (1983: 243), It was not the mind that moved
spontaneously to religious truth, but power that imposed the conditions for
experiencing that truth. Agreeing with this, Zande does not profess to understand

Tally, the main character in the book Uglies , shows many changes in character or
thought throughout the book. Uglies was written by Scott Westerfeld, a New York
Times Bestselling Author. In Uglies, Westerfeld shows the reader how Tally s
character changes when Peris visits her in Uglyville, when Tally finds out David
grew up in the Smoke, and when Tally visits David s parents house.
The first time a change of character in Tally is noticed is when she finds out who she
trusts, and commits to, when Peris visits her in Uglyille. This is while Tally is
trying to decide whether she wants to tell the Specials where Shay is, and turn
pretty, or keep Shay s location a secret, and stay ugly for life. Therefore, the

32. The Diffuse And The Concentrated Model Of Judicial
Review
VI. CONCLUSION
The choice between the diffuse and the concentrated model of judicial review (and,
within the concentrated family of systems, between the supreme court version and
the constitutional court version) is often understood to reflect a divide among two
competing theories of constitutional law. One theory perceives constitutional law as,
first and foremost, a field of law, to which regular adjudicatory method is applicable,
along with its assumptions of professionalism, objectivism, and interpretivism. This
theory aligns with the diffuse model of judicial review, since it leaves constitutional
jurisdiction in the hands of the professional judiciary. A contrasting theory posits
constitutional law as a unique field of normative ordering, ... Show more content on

Keeping judicial review within the courts, as the diffuse model urges, will not turn
the interpretation and application of the constitution into an objective endeavor, free
from moral, ideological, or theoretical commitments or from class, culture, and other
group influences. Similarly, placing the constitution away from the regular judiciary,
as the concentrated model urges, will not relieve „legal‟ adjudication from the
political stakes that are involved in any exercise of judicial power, constitutional or
otherwise. Classifying constitutional law as more or less „political,‟ therefore,
offers no real guidance as to the optimal jurisdictional arrangement for the exercise of
judicial review; Israel has effectively defied this
33. Infant Trauma
There are many types of trauma that people experience everyday in our world.
People can do awful things to each other, including violence, abuse, and neglect.
Accidents happen that leave us feeling distressed. Some threaten our sense of
safety and connection. These are all experiences that take time to heal and recover
from. We must find a way to reconcile the life we had before it happened and the
life as we know it after a tragic event. The pain of the memories alone can be
devastating. It takes time and support to find a sense of self again, to feel safe in
the world again. But what if the trauma happened before life ever really began? Is
there any lasting effect on a person that was merely an infantwhen the trauma was
experienced?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The other form of memory is declarative memory (also known as explicit or late
memory). It stores sequential and contextual events, as well as factual knowledge
that can be articulated (Paley Alpert, 2003). Procedural memories are also
described and indelible and are, therefore, engraved in your brain and body for life.
Other types of memories that are described in more detail and are classified as non
verbal are categorized as behavioral memory, somatic somatosensory memory, and
visual memory. Behavioral memories can be seen in play therapy where the child
will actually be able to act out their experiences with dolls. Somatic somatosensory
memory presentation is particularly relevant to traumatized newborns or very
young infants, who may perceive trauma predominantly as concrete sensory
perceptions (Paley Alpert, 2003). All of this research tells me that we need to
broaden out ways of thinking of memory. It is not simply a process in which, if you
can tell me what happened, then you remember it, if you can t, then you simply
have no memory of the event. As we have discussed in class and in Discussion
Board, your body remembers. It makes sense that we can extend this concept to pre
memory infancy or childhood. To consider the impact these traumatic events can have
on a person s life, we must investigate how they can change development. Paley and

34. Why Is It Better To Play Sports Persuasive Essay
It is a well known fact that boys are built to be stronger and bigger than girls.
However, that does not mean girls are too fragile to play sports with guys. Girls and
boys are all made the same and i don t understand why they cant play together. They
should not discriminate based on gender. If a girlis better than a boyin a sport then she
should play, that s the same as if a boy is better than a girl in a sport. Humans are
humans and it doesn t matter what gender. Sports motivate athletes to compete and
train together for the benefit of the team. This encourages an athlete to take pride
in their accomplishments and show confidence in her ability to successfully
compete with players who have similar skill levels. Although some may say that
this sport is not fit to a person due to their gender or race ITS NOT. That s just like

It can also build friendships, more competitiveness, . For example, say a guy is
better than the girl, it would make the girl want to work harder and compete
harder. If the girl is better than the guy then the guy would want to work way
harder because no guy wants to be worse than a girl at a sport. Sports promote an
environment where everyone gets to play.If there is a sport that only allows one
gender, then they should make some sort of an add on team so boys and girls can
play together to make themselves feel better and have a bigger drive for the sport.
There are girls that play baseball and guys who play volleyball, so any sport
anyone should play.Because there are already kids out there that play with a
different gender. Some guys play on volleyball teams and the only change is they
wear shorts instead of spandex. It doesn t matter what gender you are, you should be
able to play on the same

African American religious music is the foundation of all contemporary forms of so

of the black experience in this country. This common staple of the African American
experience can be traced back to the cruel system of slavery. It then evolved into what
we refer to today as gospel music. The goal of this paper is to answer three main
questions. What are the origins of African American religious music? How did this
musical expression develop into a secular form of music? What is the future of
African American religious music? These questions will be answered through factual

Gospel music was developed and inspired by the blues and jazz that was storming
the country. Many traveling, singing preachers began to accompany themselves
with piano and guitar. An example of this can be found with a gentleman who
many refer to as the father of Gospel Music, Thomas A Dorsey. The son of a
minister, Thomas Dorsey was a consummate musician and as a young man, he
accompanied some of the most famous blues singers of all time including Bessie
Smith and Ma Rainey. He also arranged and composed blues tunes. However, his
penchant for bouncy tunes and bawdy lyrics did not keep him from attending the
annual meeting of the National Baptist Convention. It was at these conventions that
Dorsey first heard compositions of Charles A Tindley. Tindley inspired him.
Musical historian Arna Bontemps argues that it was at this point in Dorsey s life
when he began to write religious music. He abandoned his brash lyrics but not the
jazz rhythms and blues flavor. Naturally, older conservatives considered this
blending of sacred music, such as spirituals and hymns with secular music, such as
blues and jazz, to be devil s music. They shunned it and declared Dorsey s brand of
gospel music unworthy of a hearing within sanctuaries of the day. The traditional
church failed to see the positive influence contemporary

However, most of the oil imports to the U.S. come from Canada, Saudi Arabia,
Mexico, Venezuela, and Nigeria. The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting
Countries or OPEC is part of where the Unites States imports their oil. OPEC
countries only produce a small portion of American oil; the U.S. obtains most of
its oil from Mexico and Canada. However, over the years Canadian oil production
has risen while Mexico s has fallen. It is obvious that it would be better to have a
reliable, long term supply of crude from Canada than rely on overseas suppliers,
whether they are part of OPEC or not. Mexico is believed to no longer be as
reliable to produce America s petroleum. It is known that Pamex, the country s
national oil company, is not investing enough money in new drilling projects even
though its most important field, Cantarell, is declining rapidly. On top of that,
Canada is the largest oil supplier. It would make sense to build the Keystone
Pipeline so the oil can go directly to the United States and not to other parts of the
world. The oil will not stay buried; other countries looking for cheap and plentiful
energy will buy it. Building the Keystone Pipeline will reduce America s reliance
on energy resources from less stable regions. The Keystone Pipeline project is key
to energy security. The supply of oil reaching refiners in the United States is safer

The artist I have chosen for this project is John Roger Stephens, also known as John

potential at an early age. His grandmother taught him to play his first instrument,
which was the piano. He grew up playing and singing in his church s choir. His talent
at that age was amazing, labelling him a child prodigy. Growing up, he listened to
music from Michael Jackson, LL Cool J, Boyz II Men, and MC Hammer, very

After the second chorus, the bridge come is, followed by a variation of the chorus
to end the song. The rhythm of this song is a combination of long and short notes,
along with a medium temp which slows down for dramatic effect at the end of the
song. The pitch of this tune is a mixture of low and high notes, which move in both
conjunct and disjunct motion. The beginning of the chorus is played in conjunct
(step) motion, while the end is by leap (disjunct motion). The timbre of this music
piece is piano and vocals, which can be heard throughout the entire song. The
dynamics is a combination of mezzo piano and mezzo forte for the duration of the
song. It stays at a constant medium level. The texture of this piece is Homophonic as
it contains both harmony (chords) and melody. His voice serves as the melody while
the piano accompaniment played in the background is the harmony. All of Me by

buildings for your business and create a workplace that supports your company s
culture and people.
By adopting this model, VodafoneNew Zealand was able to:
Reduce facilities operating costs by around 25%
Reduce staff downtime by 6%
Accommodate 1,360 people in a space traditionally designed for 900, saving lease
costs of $2.2m per annum and fit out costs of $11m
Align its property cycle (ordinarily 10 20 years) to its business cycle (less than 3
years), therefore aligning its facilities with ongoing developments in the workplace.
This whitepaper examines why other businesses may wish to consider rethinking
their physical space and staff working styles within that space. It looks at hjow
technology can be used as a key enabler to provide an environment that supports the
way a business and its people want to work, and demonstrates how a business can
save up to 25% of its building facilities costs (by reducing electricity, cleaning and
rent) in the process.
The Vodafone New Zealandvision for v.nue was to create flexible and collaborative
ways of working that would increase productivity and enable the business to quantify
its proposition around leveraging mobility.

To what extent was the Dawes Plan a turning point for Germany, 1919 1933?
Explain your answer. The Dawes Plan of 1924 was formulated to take Weimar
Germany out of hyperinflation and to return Weimar s economy to some form of
stability. It helped Germany return to its pre war state. Economically, socially and
politically Germany seemed to be more stable than it was in previous and
following years. However, this stable period seemed to have been built on unstable
foundations. The economy appeared to have stabalised with the introduction of the
Dawes Plan. Before 1924, Germany was experiencing hyperinflation. The old
Papiermark was rapidly depreciating and so Germany had to print more and more of
it to pay reparations. By December 1922... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore there was a decline in extremist parties such as the Communists and the
National Socialists because many Germans didn t want an extreme change and
liked Germany as it was. This was a turning point for Germany because it seemed
that the extremist parties would not be capable of getting seats in the parliament.
Also, Stresemann convinced the public that a democratic government would solve
any problems quickly and many believed him. The popularity of the Social
Democrats increased and they had the majority of the seats in the parliament
(153). This was a turning point for Germany because people started to believe that
this new democratic government would remain stable and prosperous for the
years to come. The Dawes Plan allowed this to happen because it gave the Republic
the money it needed to invest in the economy for the people. However, this success
seemed to be short term and relied on Germany s unguaranteed success to keep
people from voting for extremist parties. Although Stresemann s Germany looked
promising, there was still political instability because no one party could gain a
majority in the republic. Governments had to be formed from coalitions of parties
working together. This meant that decision making was difficult and could easily be
overturned by a smaller, less significant party. Up to 1930, the Social Democrats
always won the most votes, but never enough to govern on their own. There were

44. Waiting for Godot
1. How does the relationship between Vladimir and Estragon compare with the
relationship between Pozzo and Lucky? What is the effect created by the contrast
between these two pairs of characters? Is it significant that the characters appear in
pairs, rather than alone?
Waiting for Godot, written by Samuel Beckett, is a tragicomedy about two men
waiting for a person or thing named Godot. The play entitles two contrasting pairs of
characters, Vladimir and Estragon, Pozzo and Lucky. These sets of characters differ
greatly and they create effect of humanity. The main difference between the pair s
relationships would be their dependency on each other, their level of compatibility,
and their development throughout the play. Furthermore, both ... Show more content

Lastly, both pairs of characters can be compared by their development through the
play. Vladimir and Estragon do not develop at all throughout the discourse of the
play, whereas Pozzo and Lucky change dramatically from the first act to the second.
Vladimir and Estragon remain static characters throughout the play, and it is obvious
that their life is very repetitive. From the first act to the second, Vladimir and
Estragon are always waiting for Godot, their days are almost identical from one the
other. In both acts they contemplate suicide, saying that the next day they would
bring good rope to hang themselves. In both acts they meet Pozzo and Lucky, as
well as the boy. Whom all three say they have not seen them the previous day, this
indicates that they might have been doing this for many days that they have lost
count. Estragon also repetitively asks to leave but is reminded that they cannot, this
repetition of dialogue appears many time, which reinforces the idea that these actions
occur many more times than stated in the play. Another allusion that proves that
their lives are repetitive is when Vladimir talks to the boy. He asks It wasn t you that
came yesterday...This is your first time? pg.105, and the boy says that it is his first
time. This repetitiveness proves that Vladimir and Estragon are static characters. On
the contrary, Pozzo and Lucky are dynamic characters, as they change drastically
from the first act to the
45. Compare Gatsby And Blanche Dubois
Jay Gatsby, the mysterious millionaire from The Great Gatsby by F. Scott
Fitzgerald, and Blanche DuBois, the heroine in A Streetcar Named Desire by
Tennessee Williams, seem to represent two different kinds of protagonists. While
they both deal in illusions, Gatsby and Blanche are significantly different people,
and their illusions stem from different motives. Gatsby creates illusions that
present an idealized personal lifestyle, hiding the impracticality of his dreams. He
already has wealth, enough to survive, but he wants more. Therefore, he portrays
that he is a man who can provide anything to his ideal love, Daisy through ways
such as showing her his house; he wants to lure her with the glamour of his wealth
in order to complete his life. Blanche, however, is poor and cannot provide for
herself, so she creates illusions to escape the bleak reality she is trapped in and
hide the fact that she is helpless. Blanche s motives for hiding behind her illusions
are more practical; it is unlikely that any man would provide for her, and let her
breathe as Blanche describes to Stella, if he knew about her sexual promiscuity
(85). But she also is able to create a magical world for herself to hide that she is
broken and helpless and what she is doing is merely practical. She wants to believe
that what she is doing is noble and fulfilling and transcends an animalistic relationship
like Stanley s and Stella s. Despite the difference in their motives of their illusions,
both Gatsby
46. The Dangers of Marijuana Essay
Marijuana, Cannabis Sativa, has been used for centuries for its medicinal and
euphorant properties, and its fibers, to make hemp cloth and paper. Medicinally,
between 1850 and 1942, it was prescribed in the United States Pharmacopeia as a
remedy for a variety of ailments including gout, tetanus, depression, and cramps
(Farthing1992). Today, it is used for reducing intraocular pressure due to glaucoma, as
an antiemetic to relieve nausea associated with chemotherapy, and as an appetite
stimulant for AIDS patients. Recreationally, it is the most widely used illicit drug,
especially among adolescents.
The main psychoactive component of marijuana is (9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
Other prominent cannabinoids include cannabidiol, ... Show more content on

In this paper, my objective is to determine potential chronic effects of marijuana on
memory. I do this by selectively reviewing studies on this topic and attempt to
integrate the findings, which range from neurobiological standpoints to more general
effects on cognitive behavior.
In earlier attempts of finding the cannabinoid receptor, using THC as the ligand
proved difficult because of its lipid solubility which cause non specific, high affinity
binding. In Herkenham et al. (1990), they localize cannabinoid receptors (CB1)
throughout the brain by using synthesized, radiolabeled CP 55,940, structurally
similar to THC, but less hydrophobic and more potent as a cannabinoid receptor
ligand. They find high density binding in the cerebellum and basal ganglia (which
regulates time perception and coordinated movement), the cerebral cortex (perception
and reasoning) and the hippocampus, which is associated with memory. This
correlates with marijuana s distortion of these cognitive functions, including memory.
The hippocampus, located in the inferior medial temporal lobe, has been shown to be
involved with memory through studies with brain damaged patients such as HM,
who, in the extreme case, resulted in having anterograde amnesia (inability to form
new long term memories) due to the removal of the bilateral hippocampus (Gazzaniga

47. Disney s Return On Equity Essay
Over the years Disney, continues to evolve with each generation, able to quickly
and swiftly adapt to meet the needs of their customers. Disney believes that their,
willingness to challenge the status quo and embrace change is one of our greatest
strengths, especially in a media market rapidly transforming with each new
technology or consumer trend, (Disney 2015 Annual Report). An example of this
is the recent craze for superhero movies. Once this high tech trend of movies hit
the market, Disney quickly began to produce the Marvel superhero movies to
meet the demand. Disney s product innovation capabilities allow them to
constantly be in the lead of each trend that changes within the market. Ratio
Analysis First, we will analyze the profitability ratios. Disney s return on equity
was 21.39% while Viacom s was 36.8%. This ratio serves as a warning sign on
investing in Disney s stock as Viacom is doing a better job at investing their
shareholder s money. Next, Disney s return on assets was 16.5% and Viacom s
was 8.91%. This favorable ratio to Disney is due to their valuable customer
experience, which creates a higher net income. Disney had a financial leverage of
4.89% while Viacom s was 27.89%. Once again, this favorable ratio to Disney can
be explained by their large amount and effective utilization of assets, allowing them
to rely less on financing through debt. We believe Disney s ability to create an
experience is conducive to return visits and repeated

And...
This statement is very impactful in how he uses the example of painting the
American flag, it s not possible without the color red and for artists to not be able to
write songs using their past experiences that isn t quite possible either. Another
limitation of music censorship is that lyrics are poetry and are filled with double
meanings so what may be obscene to one person may be perfectly acceptable to
another. John Denver testified at the 1985 hearing of the PMRC stating that his song
Rocky Mountain High , which had previously been banned on many radio stations
thinking it was about drugs, was actually about the beauty of the nature and the
mountains in Colorado (Rabkin). Another example of lyricswith double meanings is

Ten to thirty percent of the students gave the correct interpretations of the songs
while twenty to sixty percent gave incorrect or vague responses. The remainder of
students refused to answer (Nuzum 64). The difference in interpretations between
adults and teens can be shown through this study and there is a reason for the
difference. Interpretations can be caused by the fact that one s understanding is
limited to their knowledge on the topic. Greenfield conducted a study on four
different age groups: fourth, eighth, and twelfth graders and college students. Two
songs, Born in the USA by Bruce Springsteen and Like a Virgin by Madonna, were
played for the participants. Following each song they were asked to fill out a
questionnaire. The questions asked about their comprehension of both specific words
in the lyrics and about the overall meaning. The results for the understanding of
Bruce Springsteen s song was low. After hearing the song entirely and seeing certain
excerpts on the questionnaire sixty percent of the overall sample couldn t answer the
questions regarding song content. Contrary to the title and refrain, the song is about
the loss of hope and resentment. The percentage of participants who understood the
song s actual themes were very low. Not one of the fourth graders could recognize
the real theme, while only thirty percent of eighth graders, forty percent of twelfth
49. Comparing Momo And The Missouri Monster
The Missouri Monster is a creature that seemingly appeared out of nowhere,
finding a home in the forest near an Ancient Greek town. The Missouri Monster, or
Momo, as the Greeks called him, was a terrifyingly fascinating creature. He was
known to feast on local wildlife, occasionally angering citizens by killing their farm
animals. But, all in all, Momo was content and left the Greeks alone. It was for this
reasonand this reason only that the Gods decided to leave Momo alone. They didn t
see the point in punishing a creature that neither hurt not benefit the town living a
few hundred yards from his den. This fact drew the attention of many ruthless
monsters, one of these monsters being Echidna, the mother of all monsters. Echidna

Today s population of American is made up of people who came from variety of
countries with a very different economic, religious and social backgrounds. We are
all have right to privately practice our own religions or not practice at all. Racism
and religion are issues that were brought to our society not long time ago. On the
example of story of America can t breathe by Luiza Ch. Savage and Islamophobia

unhealthy. What events and issues formed the basis that racism and discrimination
are the pressing problems in nowadays? Islamophobia is an unfounded fear of the
Islamic faith and, while it has existed for thousands of years, has recently become a
major problem in our society . Muslims live in fear that they will be attacked.

53. The Sovereignty And Goodness Of God
As time passes, the expectations that society has on women has changed. Many of
these expectations had to be met for the woman to be complete with her role in
society. In Rowlandson s time, her expectations were to be a housewife, a mother,
and a religious follower. Rowlandson s, The sovereignty and Goodness of God
demonstrates the role she had when she was in the colonies and how that role
changed as she became captive by the Natives. From her writings, one can infer her
place at home and how that changed as she became captive. It begins with her
omission of the soldier s failure to protect them from the Natives. While she writes
about the horrendous death some soldiers receive, she does not mention much
about their courage to protect the colonist. This can only be inferred as she begins
her writing with the attack. Although, she does not say what she expected of the
soldiers, her whole family stayed inside their home expecting to be saved and for
the attack to come to an end. She as well as the other women within the household
were to take care of the children and the home. It is only when the fire over her
head forces her to escape outside, only to get shot and taken captive. This is
demonstrated later on her writings in the fifth remove, English army after them to
this river, and saw the smoke of their wigwams, and yet this river puts a stop to
them. God did not give them courage or activity to go after us (294). Therefore,

A Case Study:
Oracle Systems Corporation
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
In 1977, Lawrence J. Ellison founded System Development Laboratories to sell a
database management system he had developed in a CIA project. It was only in
1982 that the company was renamed to Oracle Systems Corporation, to reflect the
success of their first product, Oracle Database. Oracle used the C programming
language to create its products, which was a big part of its success since this allowed
Oracle software to run on various platforms and eventually became the industry
standard.

Along with these, it is also evident that the company must fix its processes involving
bad debt accounting and revenue recognition. They should also attend to their
accounts receivable to come up with better terms that would make collections faster
and more efficient.
ANALYSIS
Days in Accounts Receivables: 137 days (assuming 365 days)
Computation: = 365 / (970,844 / ((261,989 + 468,071) / 2))
Conclusion: Higher than the industry average at 62 days
Please see the next page for more analysis.
Table 1.1 A table comparing Oracle s financial ratios with the industry average.
It s noticeable how the company s operations have been deteriorating as they are
having a more difficult time translating sales into cash. Their A/R turnover is not
where it needs to be, and in line with that, their liabilities are increasing as well. The
company has also been inefficient with the use of their assets as their current activity
ratios are not up to par with the industry standards.
RECOMMENDATIONS After analysing Oracle s historical data and financial
statements as well as identifying key points for the company to consider, the group
proposes the following recommendations in order to improve their current financial
standing:
1. Currently, the collection period of Oracle is at 137 days which is higher than the
industry average of 62 days. The company must reduce credit terms implementing
tighter credit control activities
