The Handmaid s Tale By Margaret Atwood
I made that up. It didn t happen that way. Here s what happened. p. 301
It didn t happen that way either. I m not sure how it happened; not exactly. p. 303 I really admire
Margaret Atwood for incorporating questions a reader has while reading the novel and somehow
answering it through this writing technique. Unlike other authors who tell their story without room for
the reader to question the story s reliability, Atwood does exactly that. Offred often brings up that what
this is a retelling, a reconstruction of events encouraging the reader to actually analyze whether they
believe her story or not. For me, this style of writing has influenced me into thinking that since this is
a point that she brings up often, there is some reliability ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Years earlier, Offred had visited with Luke, cheating on his wife and here she was again with the
Commander, also cheating on his wife. The irony between the two times has really allowed me to
witness how little Offred has changed compared to the immense changes that have occurred in society.
Perhaps Margaret Atwood wanted to transfer this message to her readers or maybe she just wanted to
allow the reader to easily follow this devastating tale. In any case, this technique worked well for me
throughout the span of the novel.

Persimmons By Li-Young Lee Analysis
Persimmons : Between Heritage and Upbringing In the poem Persimmons Li Young Lee leads us on a
journey that bounces between childhood and adulthood. There is an undercurrent of divisiveness as
Lee recounts moments from his time at school that conflict with the lessons he learns at home. Lee
writes Persimmons as a stream of consciousness reflection of his youth and his struggle to reconcile
his Chinese heritage with his American upbringing. He structures the poem to allow the audience to
see these moments through his eyes and uses persimmons to show not only the emotional attachment
that words have but as a symbol for the strained relationship Lee had with his white teacher Mrs.
Walker. In reading the poem we gain a deeper understanding of Lee s complicated relationship with
the two worlds he finds himself in. The structure of Persimmons was a deliberate choice as Lee
attempts to share his memories not exactly as they happened but rather as he re experiences them. He
narrates in the stream of consciousness method where each stanza is its own episode retelling a
memory. But the stories are not told in a linear or chronological fashion and instead it seems the
narrator thinks of the next story to tell as he tells the current one. The first and third stanzas utilize this
methodology to great effect to demonstrate the different reactions Lee has during two different
moments when words fail him. In the first stanza, Lee relates the memory of his teacher punishing

Historical Context Analysis
Studying the context in which a text was written provides valuable insight to the outside factors that
may have had an influence on the text and its original meaning. This includes the type of government,
societal norms, and the type of education available. These factors influence the gender norms and their
specific roles in society during that time. The Household Codes were written during in ancient times
under a Greco Roman government. As a result of this type of government, specific laws and standards
were set in place by the government and reinforced by society which had an influence over what
women were able to do. Prominent ways of thought in those societies also had an impact on the New
Testament writings since they influenced the educational ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the historical context is recognized, the text will be interpreted in a way that the author had
intended and not taken out of context. This is essential for modern interpreters of the Bible because the
social location of the individuals in the present society is different from the individuals in antiquity.
When interpreting the Bible, there are multiple methods that can be used and different presuppositions
that the reader can bring to their understanding of the material. According to Hauer and Young, there
are three complementary paths a modern reader can take in serious study of the Bible (Hauer, 1). One
of these paths includes analyzing the historical world of the Bible. The historical world refers to the
events and situations that form contexts for understanding the Bible as it was being written and
interpreted (Hauer, 1). These refer to things such as wars or the type of government that is in control
because that affects the audience of the writing and what issues within the community are being
addressed by the writer. The Bible has a large influence over modern society because it was composed
in, and became part of history (Hauer, 1). With such a long history, the Bible has been established as

Examples Of Consumer Fanaticism In Apple
Consumer Fanaticism: Extraordinary Devotion for Brand Apple
Akanksha Srivastava, Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Delhi
Abstract:
This paper is an attempt to study Brand Apple and the extraordinary devotion and brand loyalty
portrayed and practiced by the Apple Tribe consumers of the brand that purchase, obsess, follow and
identify with the brand wholeheartedly. Reported as one of the most participatory brands, Apple is
carried forth into the future with extreme dedication so much so that it s brand success remains
unprecedentedly high and blooming, making it a brand success story to remember. This paper is an
attempt to bring light to not the brand itself so much as the tribe the brand loyalty bandwagon and

The object is stated as an object of fascination, which can include a brand, product, person (e.g.

or beliefs. Brand fanatics often refuse to believe or even consider facts or arguments conflicting with
their worship of brand, regardless of how strong or true the source of the information maybe,
classifying them as biased and certainly unreasonable at most instances. Their enthusiasm is so
extreme it is sometimes considered excessive. Examples of fanaticism to a brand, product, or activity

Field Officer Training Report
As a kid Ben always wanted to be a teacher, but when he became a junior and senior he could see
people in his class getting into bad things like alcohol and drugs. When he saw those kids he wanted
to help and that s when he thought he would join some sort of law enforcement to have a chance to
help those kids that are going down the wrong path. Later after high school he went to college at
Alexandria tech for two years but later found out that his credits would not transfer to get a four year
and higher so he went to CLC for two years and then transferred to St. Cloud for his four year and
then later on to get his masters. After that he went to a police office to work in his area and started his
fto training. Ben said that there are a lot of changes but the biggest is technology. Ben wanted to help

The Effects Of Bpa On Human Health
Bisphenol A, commonly referred to as BPA, is a synthetic carbon compound present in consumer
plastic products. These products include water bottles, food containers, canned foods coated with
protective linings, and shopping receipts. According to the CDC, 93% of Americans have traces of
BPA chemicals present in their urine samples. This has recently attracted attention in the media
because BPA is linked with a plethora of potential health hazards; such as the development of cancer,
diabetes, asthma, and disruptions in the endocrine system. Scientists currently focus on the estrogenic
activity caused by levels of BPA chemicals found in consumer plastic products, and are concerned
about the potential negative effects on human health. This concern is based studies which have shown
disruptions in the reproductive and endocrine systems of laboratory rats (Vinas and Watson 2013). The
estrogenic properties of the compound BPA were first discovered by British medical researcher
Edward Charles Dodds in the 1930s. Dodds aimed to create a drug that could be used to treat
problems relating to pregnancy symptoms, menopause, menstruation, and the prevention of
miscarriages. Although BPA was not successful in the medical industry, around the same time,
chemists in Switzerland and the United States discovered that BPA could be made into epoxy resins.
This new discovery quickly became popular in the industrial production industries for uses such as
piping, adhesives, and protective

An Extreme Near-Death Experience
A woman gets hit by a bus, goes into a coma, and experiences either seeing her body, or drifting along
the beach. This is an extreme near death experience, and this is the type of interaction that this paper
will go over. Not everybody believes in near death experiences, however thanks to movies and T.V.
they are becoming more popular. To understand exactly what an extreme near death experience is, a
person must first know the topic s background. A near death experience is any close brush with death.
This could range from getting shot to falling down the stairs. An extreme near death experience, in this
case, is when a person has an odd occurrence with something they don t have any knowledge of. For
example, a man goes hiking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That there is no such thing as an out of body experience. Many will ask, What about the people who
have had a near death experience, but have not had an out of body encounter? There is a simple
answer. Although this may be true, those people probably did not have an extreme near death
experience. For example, in a piece called My Near Death Experience, by John White (2014), he has a
near death experience in his town s pond. Mr. White dove head first into the water, hit his head, and
blacked out. He wrote that he, had no external perception, no sensory awareness. I was simply floating
idly, feeling more peaceful than I d ever been, (White, 2014). One could say that Mr. White had a near
death experience, but not an extreme one. People would also say that no one could possibly leave their
body without dying first. That is more than likely false, if one were to ask the world if they believe in
the supernatural, the majority would say yes. There have been many accounts of spiritual encounters,
of people leaving their bodies without even having a near death experience. Another reason is, how
could a person be one hundred percent sure it is not an out of body experience if it did not personally

Analysis Of Albert Camus BookThe Plague
Shaver 1
I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn t, than live as if there isn t
and to die to find out that there is.
Albert Camus, The Fall
In Albert Camus novel The Plague, the author employs three main characters the narrator, Tarrou, and
Father Paneloux to represent extremist views on religion and science in culture. The narrator, Rieux,
most closely resembles Camus own perspective while Tarrou and Father Paneloux represent the
radical views of the two opposite sides. Tarrou lives a life strictly reliant on science and throws faith to
the void; Father Paneloux being the man of religion has no consideration for the world of science.
Rieux often finds himself leaning more towards Tarrou, but with a fuller understanding of Camus
philosophy one can surmise that Rieux is not entirely opposed to the faith culture, and thus excluding
Camus from a full blown postmodernist view (Brizee Oct, 2017). The character of Father Paneloux is
introduced as a stalwart champion of Christian doctrine, (Camus 92) thus leaving the reader with no
curiosity about the qualification of this man from a religious point of view. It is this character s
challenges and responses to hardship that reveal his loyalty to the faith based world that is so
commonly overlooked in Camus novel. The sermons of Father Paneloux are perhaps to be considered
the strongest example of his faith in the face of the plague. The nature of the first sermon is blunt and

School Schedule Essay
The School Schedule of the Future Jefferson County had an overpopulation problem, but the decision
for what to do turned out to be a fairly easy one. Instead of building costly schools and using the all
important tax payer money, they decided to use what they already had and made the intelligent and
cost savvy switch to year round schooling all the way back in 1973 (White 27). Year round schooling
consists of districts that, instead of using the traditional 9 month calendar, they have sessions for the
entire year with small break periods to split up the year into semesters (Krueger A14). Or, some
schools choose to run in tracks (groups of students) to reduce the number of active students physically
inside the school, while actually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The way they were able to avoid building these schools is using the multi track system of year round
schooling. This allows for a greater number of students to enroll while having the same amount of
students as a 9 month schedule. The way this happens is by having one track on break while the other
four go to school and then switching which track is on break after 2 3 weeks. This example shows the
money saving power of these types of schedules. This is not the only example of saving multiple
millions of dollars either, the Jefferson County School District saved money by switching and the
Oxnard School district, a District in California was able to receive incentive funds for doing so aswell
(White 27). Schools can then use the extra money saved from not building schools or earned from
incentives from the schedule switch to hire new (and better) teachers. The most important thing about
any school of course is giving the students as good an education as they can get. With year round
schedules, schools may be able to improve retention for students due to the limited break periods and
give students a better education, regardless of any disabilities. The problem with the current schedule
is the enormous amount of time that students are given for summer break. Researchers found that
Even for an average child, the whole first month of school is wasted relearning last year s material
(Davey AA08). This is a problem. It is absurd to waste

For instance, insulin lispro is different to regular insulin in that the reverse positions of lysine and
proline at positions 28 and 29 in the B chain. This modification causes more rapid absorption, a
quicker onset, and a shorter duration of action due to decreases in hexameric insulin formation after
subcutaneous injection. Peak levels of Insulin lispro has peak levels at 30 to 90 minutes. Insulin aspart
and insulin glulisine have similar pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties with insulin
lispro. Rapid or short acting insulins are provided to mimic the prandial release of insulin during
prandial (mealtime) and to control postprandial glucose. They may also be used in cases where swift
alteration of elevated glucose to normal is needed. Injection of rapid acting insulin has been proven to
be more effective than regular insulin by which when they are administered pre meal, having 15 20

The Department Of Human Health Services
The HHS (U.S Department of Human Health Services) was established to enhance as well as
protection for all citizens of America. They provide useful Human services and developed advances in
medicine, public health, and social services. These facilities and agency are government based with
mission to provide the public with health insurance and services. Overtime there have been a great
deal of historical highlights that shape what Human Health Services is today. Today we have
Medicare, Medicaid, and ACA, which demonstrate the time line and evolution of health insurance.
Lets go to the beginning it all started in 1798 an act of passage was provided for seamen who were ill
and disabled. This paved the way for many health discoveries, health technology, and modern day
medicines. The creation of the ACA helped drive and initiate many other different agencies and
divisions that were later established. Moreover Human Health Services provides and offers many
health programs to the citizens. Most of these programs cater to employees, disabled, and low income
families. Also the HHS is one earns highest amount in grants, it is said that they are grant making

Triple X Syndrome Testing and Diagnosis
Dear, Brown Family I am Dr. Cunningham I have a PHD and MD from Stanford University. I am a
Obstetrics and Gynecology affiliated with St. Vincent Health Hospital I have been working here for
about 6 years now. Over week I have been doing numerous test on your daughter such as
Amniocentesis and Chorionic Villus sampling. Chorionic villus is collected by putting a long thin
needle through the belly into the placenta. Amniocentesis is tested by getting a sample from the
amnion or amniotic sac surrounding a developing fetus and the fetal DNA is examined for genetic
abnormalities. The purpose of these testing is to determine whether or not your daughter is diagnosed
with Triple X syndrome. These test can be done at any time but preferably early in pregnancy. As my
years of being a doctor I have seen about 1990 women undergo Chorion Villus sampling and there
were no serious maternal infections among the women in this. Also, Amniocentesis testing is not very
risky due to the fact there is a low risk of pregnancy lost when this test is done. Before I did the
Chorionic and Amniocentesis testing on your daughter I explained the potential drawbacks to her such
as miscarriages, uterine contractions or tenderness, feeling shivery (like you re going down with flu),
infection and amniotic fluid leakage which can lead to the baby developing hypoplastic lungs
(underdeveloped lungs).

Internal Auditing As An Important Part Of Auditing...
I. Introduction.
Internal auditing as an important part of auditing supervision system attracts significant attention in
currently business environment, especially after several accounting scandals such as Enron and
WorldCom. With the continuous improvement of business environment and regulatory requirements,
internal auditing undergoes a progressive process, from the simple to complex, from the basic to
advanced.
The Institute of Internal auditors (IIA) defines the internal auditing as follows: Internal auditing is an
independent, objective assurance and consulting activity design to add value and improve an
organization s operations. It helps an organization accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic,
disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and
governance process (Burnaby and Hass 2011). Internal auditing has the obligation to provide the
board of directors, the audit committee, the CEO and CFO, and stakeholders with an independent
report on whether the corporation are under effectiveness internal control, whether the corporation
under appropriate risk, and whether corporation operating and governance meet the established goal.
The scope of the internal audit is board and includes the concept of risk management, internal control,
corporate governance and compliance with laws and regulations (Zaharia, Dragne, and Tilea 2014).
Generally, internal audit has different types due to the different service content.

Kira they are friends because they had to be. However, they are much better friends in the middle and
end of the story. Thus, I think that this makes it the most important. With Matt, I am led to believe that
Matt only likes Kira because she gives him food. Thomas and Kira are extremely good friends, and
that is not because they were forced to be friends either. They were good friends before, but realizing
that they would be friends anyway, they became much better friends. Considering that they are both
artists they decided that they must work together or be alone. The importance of Thomas is the fact
that in essence, Thomas is almost Kira s Tour Guide/Mentor/Teacher. Without Thomas, when Matt is

intelligent leader is how he looks to others that are older and more experienced for advice throughout
the entire story. All the way through the story Gilgamesh looks up to his mother for counseling and

advice and wisdom from those who are older and more seasoned truly makes that person an intelligent
leader, and that is exactly what Gilgamesh does. Gilgamesh, being a religious man, knows that he
could not have accomplished the things that he did on his own. Consistently he is giving thanks to
other people or to the gods for his many feats. After Gilgamesh had slain the bull from heaven he was
quick to honor and give thanks to his god Shamash. They butchered and bled the bull and then cut out
it s heart to offer as a sacrifice before Shamash. Then Gilgamesh and Enkidu retreated from the altar
itself and stood afar in deep respect as they did pray. (pg. 27) And even before he fights the bull
Gilgamesh looks to Enkidu and says, Be unrelenting and hope that God gives us the strength. (pg. 26)
Both of these quotes demonstrate that Gilgamesh knew that he could not kill the beast Humbaba on
his own, and that he respects his god and knew that

Research Paper On Piano Recital
The Piano Recital You were born to be real, not to be perfect. Anonymous. I was in 6th grade, my first
year in middle school. Because my piano teacher was the music teacher at the elementary school I had
to have a new piano teacher since I didn t go to that school anymore. When I was with my old teacher,
she said that I didn t have to do any recitals. Well now I have a different teacher, so that will change.
My mom had just picked me up from my piano lesson. My teacher talked about a piano recital and
about the song I would play. I had said I didn t want to do more than one song and she said that was
fine. My mom and I were discussing it in the car. The recital is going to be on ??????. Stated mom.
My stomach dropped. That s pretty soon. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I went downstairs, had breakfast and played the song. My fingers kept hitting the wrong keys and
getting out of rhythm. I realized that I was playing too much and that I was just stressed out and
couldn t play it right. I took a deep breath and played it slowly. I played the song with only one tiny
error and then stopped, afraid I would overdo it. The only other time I played the song was a few
minutes before we had to leave. By the time we left I had started to get really worried. It was a ???
minute drive to the building that the recital would be at. (My piano teacher s church) When we got out
I saw other people arriving. Some I knew and some I didn t. We walked in and down some stairs into
the worship area. There were already quite a few sitting down, so we took a seat in the middle closer
to the back. I was really nervous by then. My hands were sweating and I felt hot. We looked at a piece
of paper to see that I was playing my song ???. ( ex. 5th) There was ???? people playing in all. I sat
with my mom, dad, and brother waiting for it to begin. Finally it did. My piano teacher went up to the
stage and thanked everyone for being there. She then called out the student playing and their song.
The student walked up and played their song. The teacher continued to introduce the students until it
was my turn. I unsteadily walked up to the piano while the teacher placed my song up on the piano. I
stared at the paper and began to play the song. I was so nervous that I couldn t even read the notes. My
hands played the notes without me even thinking about what they were doing. Near the end of the
song I could ve moved my hands up a few notes to play at a higher octave, (a higher set of the same
notes) but decided not to incase I messed

Wellness Programs in the Workplace
Introduction
Over the last several decades, an epidemic of lifestyle diseases has developed in the United States. In
response, employers, in an attempt to increase productivity and decrease health insurance costs, have
created wellness programs to combat the growing trend of unhealthy living habits. This paper will
discuss the different components of a wellness program, explore a typical employer s overall wellness
strategy, and analyze incentives and trends in common wellness programs in America.
The frequency of unhealthy lifestyle choices such as inactivity, poor nutrition, tobacco use and alcohol
consumption are the driving factors of today s chronic diseases: diabetes, heart disease, and chronic
pulmonary conditions. These ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Studies in 2010 found that indirect costs (e.g., days missed at work) were approximately four times
higher for individuals with chronic disease than for those without.
Today, wellness programs focus on increased support for the chronic illnesses in the working age
population, as employers are concerned with their out of pocket expenses and the effects of employer
sponsored health coverage. In a recent survey by Towers Watson and the National Business Group on
Health (NBGH), 67 percent of employers identified employees poor health habits as one of their top
three challenges to maintaining affordable health coverage.
To help offset the increasing health care costs that our society faces today, employers are focusing
more on adopting good health practices through promotion and disease prevention strategies, often
referred to as workplace wellness program. Disease prevention programs have two stages of
prevention. The first is to prevent the onset of diseases or to diagnose, where the focus is on
addressing the health related behaviors and risk factor such as encouraging people to consume a
healthier diet. The second stage is to treat diseases at an early stage before complications occur. This
translates to promoting medication adherence for patients with asthma and other diseases

A Brief Note On Design An Electric Vehicle
Introduction
Detail of Project
Introduction
The project is to design an electric vehicle that has to be road worthy and comfortable to drive off road
as well. We are doing These because it is the future of Automobile industry. These is fully ecofriendly
and these is one of the best solution to decrease the carbon emission in our environment. EV which we
are design is Fully built from Scratch, which is look like a Wheelie jeep. Because its roadworthy so
we have design this car under the concern of the New Zealand Transport rules and regulation. The car
is two doors with two Seating capacity. we have to make it lighter and off road drive so we choose the
poly carbonate shell material. The car is fully electrically automated with electric power steering and
some other feature. It also has an Electrical winch which is detachable at front or back. It is a four
wheel drive and with high torque and doesn t produce any excessive sound. The car has a AC motor as
drivetrain and the energy source for drive is a lithium Batteries which is highly efficient as compared
to other battery. We design good breaking system because electric motor has a very high acceleration
as compared to CI cars. EVS running cost is much lower and very less maintenance. It has a range of
80 km per charge and it can be charge in your garage 240 V plug socket. The money spent on the EVs
has reasonable and payback to us.
Reason for amendment

August 6, 2011 Lay Off Of 167 Newark Police Officials Increases Crime in the City There are a lot of
social problems in my community. The most current social issue is that Newark, NJ has laid off 167
police officials on November 30th of 2010. This was 14% of the police working for Newark. They
were discharged from several precincts within Newark. Jen Chung from Gothamist stated crime has
increased there have been numerous carjacking s victims include a staffer in the NJ Attorney General s

it took 167 of us to bring Newark back, how can they go on without us? (Giambusso and Friedman,

NJ by the city assigning more officers to be on patrol instead of doing desk work. If there were more
cops on patrol there would not be a lot of crime rate to begin with. Some officers do not get the chance
to patrol. If Newark assigns these officers to patrol instead of doing desk work the crime rate would
instantly drop like when Newark had its first crime free month since 1966. Newark is a large city that
need close attention because of poverty and etc... People cannot even walk down the street without
worrying whether or not they will come back alive or dead. Robert Andrews also told the Star Ledger
he had been inundated with calls from residents to patrol Newark s streets. ? (Giambusso and
Friedman, Laid off Newark police officers cope with unemployment. ) If somebody does not step up
to the plate Newark residents will be in jeopardy again. Last but not least, Crime will decrease in
Newark, NJ by starting neighborhood watch programs. If residents are informed about neighborhood
watch programs that will be anonymous then crime will also be less. If there was a program started

The Green Banana Sparknotes
Donald Batchelder s The Green Banana conveys readers that we create our own center and once
individuals leave that special place we are able to learn more about the special geniuses around us.
When we venture out of that secure and comfortable space, then we gain insight on the world around
us and educates us on new perspectives. Batchelder gains a new perspective on the different cultures
around the world when his car breaks down and needs help. Although, Batchelder puts off his want to
expose his ignorance by wondering what a banana would do to help his car. The way he admits his
ignorance about not understanding why they would use a banana to help him shows that he stays in his
special place and never ventures out of that. Bachelder s ignorance is showing when he expresses his
views on America s higher education . He makes it seem that American s are smarter and better than
the rest of the world, but that changes when he realizes the special potential of the green banana. He is
showing himself as arrogant to prove that most of America would see it as the same way. The green
banana had never been of any use other than as a food item and once he forces himself to go outside of
his special place, he shows the creativity of the various cultures. The village has little to no education
or technological help, they end up having to use other aspects from nature to do that same kind of
work, which is different from Batchelder s norm. This teaches him to not

Junk Food Should Be Banned In Schools
Long live junk food, a child s best friend who has stuck with them throughout all these years. Schools
are considering to erase these long term companions from a student s educational lives once and for
all. The question we are asking here is whether or not this is going to be a choice that is worth it. Junk
food should not be banned in schools because banning junk food in school cannot guarantee
restrictions on junk food outside of school, cutting out junk food greatly decreases school revenue, and
the availability of healthier foods does not ensure proper intake of calories.
When junk food is banned in school, it does not guarantee a ban everywhere else outside of school. As
Radford states, Whether or not junk food is available to them at school may not have much bearing on
how much junk food they eat (7). This could be due to multiple reasons. Outside of school, junk food
is an inexpensive source that is widely available and any student would have access to them because
of how conveniently located they are. Not only are they conveniently placed, they are also served in
large portions (Reyman 1). If junk food was banned, these outside locations could then serve as
escapes for students from the policies that have been placed. There will also be students who would be
exempt from the policies once they are set in stone students who like to pack their own lunch (Jaonick
and Cass 17). These students still have the chance to pack the unhealthiest foods from home, giving

All The Years Of Her Life Essay
1. Write an essay in which you examine the different kinds of conflict present in any of the stories
studied thus far. How does the conflict(s) affect the theme of the story? Conflict and Its Influence on
the Themes in All the Years of her Life The idea of Conflict is an extremely complex one and is
vividly evident in the short story All the years of her life by Morley Callaghan. It is important to
define the term Conflict , as defined by the Oxford Dictionary Be incompatible or at a variance; clash
( Conflict Definition of Conflict in English | Oxford Dictionaries ). While the story All the years of her
Life discusses the various conflicts the protagonist faces in her life and the lives of those around her. It
begins with an external ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This begins first that she assumes the role of a male figure in the absence of her husband in the life of
her son I m going to make myself a cup of tea. Mind, now, not a word about tonight to your father.
(Callaghan 5). This conflict that was internal was due to the absence of her husband. Moreover, Mrs.
Higgins was conflicted from all the decisions her children has been making from Alfred stealing to
when Alfred s young sister had kept repeating doggedly that she was getting married (Callaghan 6).
Mrs. Higgins has a breakdown as Alfred describes her Her face as she sat there was a frightened
broken face utterly unlike the face of the woman who had been so assured a little while ago
(Callaghan 5). The realization the protagonist had was that she was conflicted with all the wrong
choices she made and the people around her had made, her broken spirit symbolizes that she may have
made the wrong decision earlier. The theme of realization and resolution is again developed from the
conflict that the protagonist had faced in her life, the realization she has after dealing with all her
conflicts as she reflects on the table. The realization Alfred has when he sees the conflict that his
mother has gone through, he finally matures and understands the sacrifice of his

Betrayal In Mean Girls And The Play Julius Caesar
Lying and betrayal tie together the movie Mean Girls and the play Julius Caesar. In the movie, Cady
lied to her friend, Regina George, and betrayed her by sabotaging important things in her life, such as
her boyfriend, her body, and her friends. In the play, Brutus lied to and betrayed his best friend Caesar.
Brutus stabbed Caesar and killed him for Rome. The movie Mean Girls and the play Julius Caesar are
tied together by many differences, similarities, and important lessons.
One important difference found between the play and the movie is the time period. Caesar is the leader
of Rome with a group of senators that are his servants while Regina is the leader of the high school
Plastics which is a group of three girls: Regina, Gretchen, and Karen. Everybody in the high school
loves and knows everything about the Plastics and the girls look up to them. Caesar gets killed by
Brutus for the sake of the people of Rome and Regina s life gets ruined for the sake of high school
students, for revenge from Janis Ian, and so Cady can steal her boyfriend, Aaron ... Show more content

Jealousy took a role in the play when Cassius was explaining to Brutus how, in Cassius s opinion,
Caesar is not better than everybody. He gave examples on the time Caesar was swimming in a lake
with Cassius and nearly drowned, getting saved by Cassius. Cassius encouraged Brutus to kill Caesar
because he thought Brutus was just as good, if not better, than Caesar.. The ending of Julius Caesar is
important because it shows that not everything results in how people always want it to. Brutus and
Cassius both commit suicide in the end of the play. The importance in the end of the play is the ending
isn t always how you want it to be. Before Cassius and Brutus split up, Brutus was explaining to
Cassius that he would never kill himself. In the end, Brutus killed himself because he didn t want to
continue without his best friend,

  • 2. The Handmaid s Tale By Margaret Atwood I made that up. It didn t happen that way. Here s what happened. p. 301 It didn t happen that way either. I m not sure how it happened; not exactly. p. 303 I really admire Margaret Atwood for incorporating questions a reader has while reading the novel and somehow answering it through this writing technique. Unlike other authors who tell their story without room for the reader to question the story s reliability, Atwood does exactly that. Offred often brings up that what this is a retelling, a reconstruction of events encouraging the reader to actually analyze whether they believe her story or not. For me, this style of writing has influenced me into thinking that since this is a point that she brings up often, there is some reliability ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Years earlier, Offred had visited with Luke, cheating on his wife and here she was again with the Commander, also cheating on his wife. The irony between the two times has really allowed me to witness how little Offred has changed compared to the immense changes that have occurred in society. Perhaps Margaret Atwood wanted to transfer this message to her readers or maybe she just wanted to allow the reader to easily follow this devastating tale. In any case, this technique worked well for me throughout the span of the novel. Different Uses of Similar Vocabulary With that man you wanted it to work, work out. Working out was also something you did to keep your body in shape. p. 262 More waiting. Lady in waiting: that s what they used to call those store where you could buy maternity clothes. • 3. Persimmons By Li-Young Lee Analysis Persimmons : Between Heritage and Upbringing In the poem Persimmons Li Young Lee leads us on a journey that bounces between childhood and adulthood. There is an undercurrent of divisiveness as Lee recounts moments from his time at school that conflict with the lessons he learns at home. Lee writes Persimmons as a stream of consciousness reflection of his youth and his struggle to reconcile his Chinese heritage with his American upbringing. He structures the poem to allow the audience to see these moments through his eyes and uses persimmons to show not only the emotional attachment that words have but as a symbol for the strained relationship Lee had with his white teacher Mrs. Walker. In reading the poem we gain a deeper understanding of Lee s complicated relationship with the two worlds he finds himself in. The structure of Persimmons was a deliberate choice as Lee attempts to share his memories not exactly as they happened but rather as he re experiences them. He narrates in the stream of consciousness method where each stanza is its own episode retelling a memory. But the stories are not told in a linear or chronological fashion and instead it seems the narrator thinks of the next story to tell as he tells the current one. The first and third stanzas utilize this methodology to great effect to demonstrate the different reactions Lee has during two different moments when words fail him. In the first stanza, Lee relates the memory of his teacher punishing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When the historical context is recognized, the text will be interpreted in a way that the author had intended and not taken out of context. This is essential for modern interpreters of the Bible because the social location of the individuals in the present society is different from the individuals in antiquity. When interpreting the Bible, there are multiple methods that can be used and different presuppositions that the reader can bring to their understanding of the material. According to Hauer and Young, there are three complementary paths a modern reader can take in serious study of the Bible (Hauer, 1). One of these paths includes analyzing the historical world of the Bible. The historical world refers to the events and situations that form contexts for understanding the Bible as it was being written and interpreted (Hauer, 1). These refer to things such as wars or the type of government that is in control because that affects the audience of the writing and what issues within the community are being addressed by the writer. The Bible has a large influence over modern society because it was composed in, and became part of history (Hauer, 1). With such a long history, the Bible has been established as an ... • 8. The Effects Of Bpa On Human Health Bisphenol A, commonly referred to as BPA, is a synthetic carbon compound present in consumer plastic products. These products include water bottles, food containers, canned foods coated with protective linings, and shopping receipts. According to the CDC, 93% of Americans have traces of BPA chemicals present in their urine samples. This has recently attracted attention in the media because BPA is linked with a plethora of potential health hazards; such as the development of cancer, diabetes, asthma, and disruptions in the endocrine system. Scientists currently focus on the estrogenic activity caused by levels of BPA chemicals found in consumer plastic products, and are concerned about the potential negative effects on human health. This concern is based studies which have shown disruptions in the reproductive and endocrine systems of laboratory rats (Vinas and Watson 2013). The estrogenic properties of the compound BPA were first discovered by British medical researcher Edward Charles Dodds in the 1930s. Dodds aimed to create a drug that could be used to treat problems relating to pregnancy symptoms, menopause, menstruation, and the prevention of miscarriages. Although BPA was not successful in the medical industry, around the same time, chemists in Switzerland and the United States discovered that BPA could be made into epoxy resins. This is an extreme near death experience, and this is the type of interaction that this paper will go over. Not everybody believes in near death experiences, however thanks to movies and T.V. they are becoming more popular. To understand exactly what an extreme near death experience is, a person must first know the topic s background. A near death experience is any close brush with death. This could range from getting shot to falling down the stairs. An extreme near death experience, in this case, is when a person has an odd occurrence with something they don t have any knowledge of. Many will ask, What about the people who have had a near death experience, but have not had an out of body encounter? There is a simple answer. Although this may be true, those people probably did not have an extreme near death experience. For example, in a piece called My Near Death Experience, by John White (2014), he has a near death experience in his town s pond. Mr. White dove head first into the water, hit his head, and blacked out. He wrote that he, had no external perception, no sensory awareness. I was simply floating idly, feeling more peaceful than I d ever been, (White, 2014). One could say that Mr. White had a near death experience, but not an extreme one. People would also say that no one could possibly leave their body without dying first. That is more than likely false, if one were to ask the world if they believe in the supernatural, the majority would say yes. There have been many accounts of spiritual encounters, of people leaving their bodies without even having a near death experience. Another reason is, how could a person be one hundred percent sure it is not an out of body experience if it did not personally happen to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Analysis Of Albert Camus BookThe Plague Shaver 1 I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn t, than live as if there isn t and to die to find out that there is. Albert Camus, The Fall In Albert Camus novel The Plague, the author employs three main characters the narrator, Tarrou, and Father Paneloux to represent extremist views on religion and science in culture. The narrator, Rieux, most closely resembles Camus own perspective while Tarrou and Father Paneloux represent the radical views of the two opposite sides. Tarrou lives a life strictly reliant on science and throws faith to the void; Father Paneloux being the man of religion has no consideration for the world of science. Rieux often finds himself leaning more towards Tarrou, but with a fuller understanding of Camus philosophy one can surmise that Rieux is not entirely opposed to the faith culture, and thus excluding Camus from a full blown postmodernist view (Brizee Oct, 2017). The character of Father Paneloux is introduced as a stalwart champion of Christian doctrine, (Camus 92) thus leaving the reader with no curiosity about the qualification of this man from a religious point of view. It is this character s challenges and responses to hardship that reveal his loyalty to the faith based world that is so commonly overlooked in Camus novel. The sermons of Father Paneloux are perhaps to be considered the strongest example of his faith in the face of the plague. The nature of the first sermon is blunt and ... • 13. School Schedule Essay The School Schedule of the Future Jefferson County had an overpopulation problem, but the decision for what to do turned out to be a fairly easy one. Instead of building costly schools and using the all important tax payer money, they decided to use what they already had and made the intelligent and cost savvy switch to year round schooling all the way back in 1973 (White 27). Year round schooling consists of districts that, instead of using the traditional 9 month calendar, they have sessions for the entire year with small break periods to split up the year into semesters (Krueger A14). Or, some schools choose to run in tracks (groups of students) to reduce the number of active students physically inside the school, while actually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The way they were able to avoid building these schools is using the multi track system of year round schooling. This allows for a greater number of students to enroll while having the same amount of students as a 9 month schedule. The way this happens is by having one track on break while the other four go to school and then switching which track is on break after 2 3 weeks. This example shows the money saving power of these types of schedules. This is not the only example of saving multiple millions of dollars either, the Jefferson County School District saved money by switching and the Oxnard School district, a District in California was able to receive incentive funds for doing so aswell (White 27). Schools can then use the extra money saved from not building schools or earned from incentives from the schedule switch to hire new (and better) teachers. The most important thing about any school of course is giving the students as good an education as they can get. With year round schedules, schools may be able to improve retention for students due to the limited break periods and give students a better education, regardless of any disabilities. The problem with the current schedule is the enormous amount of time that students are given for summer break. I am a Obstetrics and Gynecology affiliated with St. Vincent Health Hospital I have been working here for about 6 years now. Over week I have been doing numerous test on your daughter such as Amniocentesis and Chorionic Villus sampling. Chorionic villus is collected by putting a long thin needle through the belly into the placenta. Amniocentesis is tested by getting a sample from the amnion or amniotic sac surrounding a developing fetus and the fetal DNA is examined for genetic abnormalities. The purpose of these testing is to determine whether or not your daughter is diagnosed with Triple X syndrome. These test can be done at any time but preferably early in pregnancy. As my years of being a doctor I have seen about 1990 women undergo Chorion Villus sampling and there were no serious maternal infections among the women in this. Also, Amniocentesis testing is not very risky due to the fact there is a low risk of pregnancy lost when this test is done. Before I did the Chorionic and Amniocentesis testing on your daughter I explained the potential drawbacks to her such as miscarriages, uterine contractions or tenderness, feeling shivery (like you re going down with flu), infection and amniotic fluid leakage which can lead to the baby developing hypoplastic lungs (underdeveloped lungs). All the way through the story Gilgamesh looks up to his mother for counseling and advice as to what he is suppose to do in different areas of his life. A leader who is consistently seeking advice and wisdom from those who are older and more seasoned truly makes that person an intelligent leader, and that is exactly what Gilgamesh does. When we venture out of that secure and comfortable space, then we gain insight on the world around us and educates us on new perspectives. Batchelder gains a new perspective on the different cultures around the world when his car breaks down and needs help. Bachelder s ignorance is showing when he expresses his views on America s higher education . • 29. Junk Food Should Be Banned In Schools Long live junk food, a child s best friend who has stuck with them throughout all these years. Schools are considering to erase these long term companions from a student s educational lives once and for all. The question we are asking here is whether or not this is going to be a choice that is worth it. Junk food should not be banned in schools because banning junk food in school cannot guarantee restrictions on junk food outside of school, cutting out junk food greatly decreases school revenue, and the availability of healthier foods does not ensure proper intake of calories. When junk food is banned in school, it does not guarantee a ban everywhere else outside of school. As Radford states, Whether or not junk food is available to them at school may not have much bearing on how much junk food they eat (7). This could be due to multiple reasons. Outside of school, junk food is an inexpensive source that is widely available and any student would have access to them because of how conveniently located they are. Not only are they conveniently placed, they are also served in large portions (Reyman 1). If junk food was banned, these outside locations could then serve as escapes for students from the policies that have been placed. There will also be students who would be exempt from the policies once they are set in stone students who like to pack their own lunch (Jaonick and Cass 17).
