The Vanishing Point In Renaissance Art
a) Using an image sourced from the lectures, explain how the application of the vanishing point
changed representation; and demonstrate the location of the vanishing point in the image, describing
your rationale. 500 words.
During the Renaissance, the arts gained an intellectual status that was previously unheard of thanks to
the application of the vanishing point. Renaissance artists spent their time experimenting ways to
create the illusion of space on a two dimensional surface; Fillipo Brunelleshi was among the first to
devise an effective system of doing so (Babick, 2010). This system created the illusion of space, or
better known as perspective, by utilising a vanishing point. The vanishing point is also referred to as
the point of infinity, meaning the point in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Contrary to red, blue is a cool colour used to convey feelings of calmness, sadness, and melancholy. It
is also associated with royalty due to its use in classical mythology to represent gods and heaven.
More recently blue has become associated with gender neutrality, often being a featured colour in
fashion labels.
In the above painting, blue is used to colour the sky, the ocean and the clothing being worn. The sky
and ocean are blue in nature which explains the colour choice but the two natural phenomenon s are
expansive and open, giving blue another connotation of openness. Blue clothing in media is used to
represent superheroes or the good guys which suggests that those in the painting clothed in blue are
this pieces protagonists.
Red and blue are commonly associated with each other, often to represent opposites. This duo of
colours is utilised together in films and other visual mediums to provide subtle visual clues of clashing
mentalities. This is prominent in gaming especially as red, not always but often, is used to represent
brawn while blue represents

Great Expectations Vs Great Expectations
It is not challenging for the story of Great Expectations to survive as it had been presented in Charles
Dickens book and faithful film adaptations. In the 1800s, Britain was undoubtedly the most powerful
and great nation in the world. In this society of wealth and power, a gentleman was one that possessed
wealth and power but also of great importance was that those attributes came from a respectable
source. Charles Dickens wrote this novel to warn Britain against the arrogance, wealth and power its
people had in those days, and favoured a gentleman of great humility and respect for others.
The Victorian idea of a gentleman during these times is based on birth, apparel, social status and
wealth. On the other hand, Dickens portrays a gentleman as someone of generosity, humility, and
kindness. The early life and the upbringing of Dickens allowed him to understand the perspective of
those of low social standing and the effect of their poor upbringing keeping them in the lower social
class. Dickens Great Expectations portrays a very class mobile society in which fortunes can be made
and lost equally suddenly, while by contrast Dickens portrayed the extraordinarily varied ways in
small differences of dress, accent, and action by which people present themselves and act out their
class identities and aspirations.
Someone who came from a respectable and wealthy family in Victorians times was described to be a
gentleman. This is evident in various characters in the book who are

Argumentative Essay On Fast Food
By now everyone knows that the fast food chains are being sued because they allegedly contribute to
obesity. On Fox s Hannity and Colmes program last July, Samuel Hirsch, the attorney who filed
lawsuits against McDonald s, Burger King, Wendy s, and KFC on behalf of his client who blames
them for his poor health, admitted that the restaurants are not completely to blame. But he added that
their failure to post warnings about nutrition content and their sophisticated marketing strategies make
them partly culpable.
Hirsch s claim that nutrition information is not available is false. Every one of these companies has its
nutrition information available on its website, and I have seen nutrition content posters at several fast
food establishments. But even if the restaurant provided no information, it is easy enough to learn
from books, the Internet, television, and radio that certain foods can promote heart disease, diabetes,
and high blood pressure. To hear Hirsch tell it, working parents must be stupid because they don t
know what they are buying. With his use of the term working he was setting himself up as the
champion of the common man.
The ridiculous claim that corporations are responsible for people s health problems is nothing new.
Remember the lawsuits against the tobacco companies? If you smoke let me ask you this: did an
employee from one of the tobacco companies put a gun to your head and make you smoke a cigarette?
I didn t think so. People who are dying

The Two Women Alternate Ending
The Two Women
Once upon a time, there lived a handsome prince who was greatly admired by the women in the
kingdom and town. He was fair, tall, and attractive that everybody could not take eyes off from him.
Annie was one of the girls who sincerely loved him. She dreamed of marrying the prince and
becoming the beloved wife of him. With her hope, Annie went to the palace everyday to secretly
watch the prince eating, playing, and sleeping.
One day, Annie was walking around the palace, pretending to be the prince s maid. There she found
the prince on his golden clothes charmingly taking a walk on the garden. As he turned around to leave,
he saw Annie peeping over him behind the bush. He glanced at her and asked, Are you my maid? I

Consequences of Industrialization
Most people regard industrialization as a positive development capable of generating great wealth and
revitalizing run down areas. Mention industrialization today, and it brings to mind large factories
organized with the latest technologies in mass producing. Along with these visions comes the promise
of more jobs for the community, higher rates of pay, and financial stability. One can only think of the
positive influences on a community that the opening of a new factory could bring, but during what
some have deemed the Industrial Revolution, industrialization only meant using machines and new
power sources to accomplish a task formerly done by human and animal power. Our modern day
conception of industrialization can greatly influence our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Imperialism in the Philippines
For over 400 years, the Philippines has been imperialized by the Spanish and the U.S. in order to gain
more power. Under their control, there have been many changes to culture, tradition, religion, and
language due to heavy influence from both countries. Imperialism is a policy where a country extends
its power by conquering other territories through diplomatic or military power. Imperialism is heavily
driven by the rise of industry and the need for raw materials to manufacture new firearms and
consumer goods. The Spanish treated the Filipinos ruthlessly, forcing taxes, labor, and seizing crops
and livestock without proper compensation. The U.S. imperialization caused English to become one of
the Philippines main languages, hospitals, schools, and railroad systems were established, and present
day Philippine government shares similarities to U.S. government.
Section 1
First colonized by the Spanish in 1521, the U.S. never had official control of the Philippines until
1899, when the U.S. won the Spanish American war. Eventually, the U.S. acquired the Philippines
through the Treaty of Paris, where it states that Spain s control of the Philippine Islands will be
transferred to the United States for $20,000,000. The Filipinos first viewed the conflict between Spain
and the U.S. as the perfect time to break away from Spanish rule and secure an alliance with the U.S.

Bae Automated Systems Case Study Essay
In the early 1980 s, Denver experienced significant economic growth due to the booming oil, real
estate, and tourism industries. The major airport that operated within Denver during that time was the
Stapleton Airport. Up to 1970, the Stapleton Airport was able to accommodate the demands of Denver
but in subsequent years it was unable to meet the ever growing needs of the city. The Stapleton Airport
was seen as a liability and limited the attractiveness of businesses that were swarming to it. Issues
with handling high traffic volume, disruptions in connection schedules, and an overall poor airport
layout led the city of Denver to decide whether they wanted to expand or replace the Stapleton
Airport. A study performed in 1983 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While BAE was already working on United s baggage system, the PMT recognized the need for a
fully integrated baggage handling system for all of DIA. Since no other airlines were emerging with
plans to develop their own baggage system, airport planners and consultants drew up plans for an
airport wide baggage handling system and sent out request for bids to several different companies.
Initially BAE declined to bid on the project due to one main reason; the technology required to operate
a system of such a large size and complexity should be determined very early in the project life cycle.
BAE had the technology that was needed (destination coded vehicles moving at high speed) but
implementing this technology into such a complex project would have required much more time then
was available. Going against their better judgment, BAE presented the city of Denver with a proposal
to develop the most intricate automated baggage system ever built. The plan was to be very effective
in delivering baggage quickly, reliable in its operation, and extremely flexible. This type of system
would save ground time, decrease close out time for hub operations, and reduce time in sorting and
handling baggage. Although more expensive than an uncomplicated tug and baggage cart system,

Privacy And Confidentiality In Health Care
Ethical problem paper Privacy and Confidentiality Introduction The question of privacy and
confidentiality as it relates to electronic health records (EHR) requires serious attention. In spite of the
potential advantage of EHR in the way patient information is stored, communicated and processed by
the parties involved in healthcare delivery, there is widespread concern that patient privacy may be
compromised during the delivery. Healthcare is changing and so are the tools used to coordinate better
care for patients (Rodriguez. 2011). In order for electronic health records to achieve their desired
goals, protection of patient privacy is paramount. Lack of patients trust in privacy and confidentiality
can lead to reluctance in disclosing their pertinent medical information. Nurses have the ethical
obligation to protect their patients private health information. Is electronic health records (EHR)

Summary Of The Epic Of Gilgamesh And The 12 Labors Of...
The Epic of Gilgamesh and the 12 Labors of Herakles are hero myths that have obvious and hidden
similarities and differences. These similarities and differences including the way that each hero is
portrayed, the reason for their respective journeys in the myths, how supernatural figures effect their
story and trials, the use of geography by the story in society at that time, and how each hero ends their
hero s journey. Each hero goes through many battles and the myths do not follow a single hero s
journey, but a multitude of adventures to aid the heroes in their growth. The 12 Labors of Herakles are
a collection of tasks and adventures Herakles must go through in order to repent for the death of his
family. The Epic of Gilgamesh is the story of the king Gilgamesh and his adventures with his best
friend, Enkidu, and his journey to try and find a way to become immortal.
This version of the 12 Labors of Herakles was written down around the 1st to the 2nd century CE by
Pseudo Apollodorus. The myth of Herakles is originally a Greek myth that would have been orally
performed before being written down in many different languages throughout its long history.
Herakles within the myth is a Demi God that was the illegitimate child of the chief Greek god Zeus
and Alkmene. This mortal half allows for the hero to me relatable to the common person, while the
divine half gives the hero his mythical status.

I have read through five articles of celebrity gossip on blogger, Perez Hilton s website. Some of the
articles were older and I also read the up to date gossip. In my opinion, the function of celebrity gossip
in today s society is to help the fame of any celebrity. The purpose of the negative or positive
information is only going to help or hurt the celebrity and in some cases, such as Janet Jackson s
breast being reviled at the Super Bowl, helped her more than it hurt her. As for blogs about celebrities

Skidmore In Paul Haven s The Case Of The Poisen Pretzel
Often in works of literature, authors will attempt to make the audience form an opinion about a certain
character through various descriptions of that character. The villians of the story are always described
in a dark manner. Usually they have a flaw that makes them an outcast. Being the black sheep in the
crowd does not shed a good light upon the villian in the story and typically the first time the audience
meets the character, they are pushed away at his or her discription. In the excerpt The Case of the
Poisen Pretzel , Skidmore is a character who is outcasted and disliked, yet his brother is the hero and
everyone in the story loves him. The brothers appear to have some sort of rivalry and this eventually
leads everyone to assuming that Skidmore is the cause of Manchester s demise. In the text The Case of
the Poisen Pretzel , by Paul Haven, the use of description, Skidmore s allergy, and the inheritence of
the Slugger s team, leads the reader to assume that Skidmore is gulity of murdering his brother. The
first way that the author implies that Skidmore is guilty is by describing him in the first part of the
excerpt. Skidmore is immediately described as the guy that no one really knows and is not well liked.
For example, SKidmore is described as being thin and wiry while wear dark, baggy clothes and a hat
that never allowed anyone to see his face. This example alone illustrates how Skidmore could give
anyone the creeps. Between his thin and wiry composure and the

The Damsel In Distress Trope

full, attentive detailing, the tropes embedded in video games since the very beginning of the Video
Game era. The mini series uses a systemic, big picture outlook to ultimately examine the plots and
designs in video games to explain why women have always been objectified in video games. The most
well known way the female character is objectified is through a video game is by placing her in a
Damsel in Distress position, woman in the refrigerator position, or any other position that creates a

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Virtual Reality
Oxford Dictionary defines virtual reality as The computer generated simulation of a three dimensional
image or environment that can be interacted with in a seemingly real or physical way by a person
using special electronic equipment, such as a helmet with a screen inside or gloves fitted with sensors.
Wikipedia says Virtual Reality (VR), which can be referred to as immersive multimedia or computer
simulated life, replicates an environment that simulates physical presence in places in the real world or
imagined worlds. Virtual reality can recreate sensory experiences, which include virtual taste, sight,
smell, sound, and touch.
As with the definition goes,Virtual Reality (VR) in simple way to define I would say it is the use of

Haptic systems that provide physical feedback or allow a fully articulated presence within an
environment are clumsy and can cause problems during use. The type of hardware that even simple
head mounted displays use can break the sense of immersion as adjustments to the device need to be
made and components such as wires and headphones turn into obstacles to natural movement.Socially,
some of the disadvantages of using virtual reality as entertainment have already started to surface,
even without an experience that fully removes a person from his or her surrounding stimuli. One issue
is social isolation, in which the user of virtual reality relies more on interactions that take place in a

Essay on Research Methodology
3. Methodology: 3.1 Introduction: The study for this thesis will be exploratory research using
secondary data collected by the communication agency, MESH Planning. The agency developed an
innovative approach called real time experience tracking , which involves three stages of data
collection. And both qualitative and quantitative data will be collected and used in this context in order
to get an insight of critical incidents. This section will start with a comparison of three possible
methodologies for data collection: ethnography, survey (or interview) and real time experience
tracking. And then sampling and data collection methods will be examined followed by a description
of data analysis. 3.2 Research approach selection: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are much cheaper than ethnography with a greater effectiveness, however, all of these interviews
or surveys were based on the retrospective data, respondents answered the questions by their memory
and the issue may happened for a long time. There could be a great influence on the quality of data
since the ability of respondent to recall information differed from one to another and some incorrect
information often occurred (Baker, 2003). The third approach considered in this study is the real time
experience tracking developed by MESH planning. This is an approach to record 360 degree
touchpoints of brand by respondents in real time. There are three stages of data collection. The first
stage uses the pre online questionnaire to collect information about brand health and relationship
quality. The third stage uses the same questions to ask respondents perception after brand encounters
in order to identify any change. While the second stage for data collection is the most crucial process
in the approach. Respondents are asked to send SMS message to report any brand encounter via
mobile phones. And the online diary also helped to expand these experiences (Willis et al 2010).
Meanwhile, for identifying the CIs, weekly questionnaire will be sent to respondents about the CIs
happened in the past week. The approach offers a holistic view to track customer experience as well as
identifying critical incidences. The real time tracking approach enabled to identify a

The City Of Sacramento, The State Capital Of California
The city of Sacramento, the state capital of California, is confronted with the need to take action to
manage current water consumption trends with respect to climate change, an increase in population,
and an increase in business. Residential, commercial, industrial, and agricultural demand for water are
rising during the recent period of drought that triggered the notion of conservation efforts statewide
and the potential for water supply shortage is extremely high. This is a plan to respond to the crisis by
changing the way the city manages its water supply by enacting new structured fees for business and
residential water consumption tiers and furnishing an educational program designed to familiarize
consumers with the enforcement of a new tiered fee structure. The proposal is written in response the
state s 20x2020 plan that dictates universal water reduction with the intention of reaching a fixed 20%
of overall water consumption reduction by the end of the decade, and the CALGreen building code
that regulates the implementation of water saving technology in new and existing construction.
Climate change impact on the state of California over recent decades has generated many
environmental fluctuations with the most critical to the city of Sacramento being air temperature
increase. Over the next few decades, the local temperature may rise as much as 2° C, badly taxing the
environment to new extremes and possibly resulting in unmet demand substantial increase in water

Another competency the company boasts is its leading brand name which allows the company to forge
new alliances not only with customers but also with programmers, distributors and other technology
and service providers. But what are some of the trends or developments that have enabled DTV to
reach the Latin American market? In segmenting DTV s primary markets, Latin America and the
USA, variables such as demographics, and psychographics should be implemented. For demographic
studies, the company wished to target males 35+, married couples living in single family homes, and
college or graduate school educated males with incomes of $70K+. To utilize the psychographic
variable the company can divide viewers into segments that are advanced (those that seek the newest
technology and want TV on the go), sports fans (who watch events at home), and basic (viewers that
can utilize basic cable for whom TV is not a priority). One market opportunity which has allowed
DTV to increase its value and growth in the Latin American pay TV market is the current changes in
consumer spending due to an economic shift in average salaries in those countries. Consumer base in
the US in the last quarter of 2011 was at 19.89 million subscribers and in Latin America increased

Non State Actors ( Nsa ) Essay
Non state Actors
The term non State actors are a superordinate concept that encompasses all those actors in
international relations that are not states. It comprises individuals as well as entities, the latter
spanning a large range of organizations and institutions on the global, regional, sub regional as well as
the local levels.
Non state actors (NSA) are entities that participate in international relations, these entities cannot be
identified by common sociological features as they include international organizations, corporations,
non governmental organizations ( NGOs ), trade associations, and transnational corporations, terrorist
groups and transnational criminal organizations. They are organizations with sufficient power to
influence and cause a change even though they do not belong to any established institution of a state.
Non state actors such as national or international non governmental organisations (NGOs) are adding
their voices to international development policy debates by organising, campaigning and lobbying
across national boundaries in order to have a greater influence on international development policy
making and faced with growing economic and political interdependencies of markets and states,
governments have to cope with the increasingly complex postmodern environment, including the
activities of NGOs. An example of the influence of non State actors on diplomacy is the Westphalian
Peace Treaty, where they had a role prior to the Treaty of Peace

The Copyright Clause Of The State Of Washington Should...
The Supreme Court has tried to explain that the Copyright Clause of the Constitution was intended to
establish independent, entrepreneurial, self sustaining authorship and publishing as the means of
serving the public interest in securing the production of valuable literary and scientific works. To that
one must ask what are the consequences of remix? When I think about it remixing has left a positive
and inferior aspect of life for many people. When people are able to steal or copy the work of an
individual without any consequence they are sending a clear message saying that they are free of the
law. Therefore, I propose that the copyright office of the state of Washington should change the
copyright policy of remixing so that it may benefit more people than just the original artist.
What are the common consequences of remixing? According to Jenkins, The rise of disco culture in
the 70s inspired producers to cut longer extended versions of singles so club patrons could weed out
the songs they liked for more than the usual three to four minutes (Jenkins). I believe that if true artists
fear that their music may be remixed then they may not do it to their best ability. Now,
imitation/remixing in art is not only all right, but it is encouraged, and using someone else s sound,
idea, etc. is considered flattery. According to UC Davis professor of law Thomas W. Joo said, Most
copyright scholars agree that this power is inimical to semiotic democracy and that reforming

The California Coast Is The Epitome Of Artistic Culture
I always thought the Oregon Coast was the epitome of artistic culture. It seems there s an art gallery
on just about every street corner down the 101, giving me an abundance of art to experience. In the
last couple months, I spent time meandering little galleries observing paintings, photographs, and
ceramics, as well as taking in the unique work that thrives in the area; blown glass. When it came time
to write my cultural review I wasn t sure what to write about. Then on Saturday, April 22nd, as I was
wandering through the Cultural Center taking in the 40+ year old murals, I came across a flier for a
musical with their last performance that night. Not being a big musical fan I decided to attend for the
experience. Boy, did I get an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even back in Elizabethan times, female actors painted their face white to show them as part of the
aristocracy. Shakespeare himself was a make up artist, and most likely would have used makeup to
distinguish his characters. That being said, the Oompa Loompa s and Willy Wonka were in full
makeup and wigs, which made the lack of makeup on the rest of the characters stand out more. I also
found the high school and adult characters interacting with the audience distracting. I feel actors, of all
people, should know how important getting into and staying in character is, not only for their
performance but the performance of their peers. This also helps the audience suspending their belief
and see that actor as the fictitious person they want us to see. Once that is established it shouldn t be
broken due to some unnecessary hand gesture to an audience member. As with all plays I ve attended,
the play starts with the director requesting the audience not to get up during the performance and
requested everyone silence their cell phones to avoid distracting the actors. I wish I could have asked
them to stay in character throughout the play because it distracted me as the audience. I could go on
and on about little things that bothered me. For example, the contract Wonka has the kids sign was
hanging in a scroll on the wall; crooked it sat because the chains on the side were different lengths. Or

Male Gaze In The Gaze
The gaze is an important part of any literary work in that it defines the viewpoint from which the
reader sees the rest of the story. The gaze, however, is also much more than a particular point of view.
It is a conveyance of power, and a way in which a narrator is able to completely shape the way readers
understand other characters in the story, imparting their own standards and beliefs onto an often
unrealizing audience. The gaze has a very clear relation to power in the sense that it is what shapes
how an audience sees certain things. An example of this is through the institution of white supremacy
in media via the gaze of the mass media in the mid 20th century. As Bell Hooks explains, when black
people in the United States first had the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whether it be the console game or the video, the gaze conveys the same image: the woman is an
object, there for the male to act upon, but without any input onto her surroundings of her own.
Let us take, for example, the role of Mary Jane in the Spiderman franchise. This is especially
important because Spiderman is primarily marketed towards a younger audience, thus imparting the
male gaze upon young people who may never realize that they are being influenced. Mary Jane is the
object of affection of not only Spiderman, but also of Harry Osborn, who becomes the villain Green
Goblin.
Here, we see Mary Jane as the object of desire for both hero and villain, and is subsequently captured
and used to lure the hero into battle, where Spiderman must come to her rescue and save the day. And
then, once rescued, of course, Mary Jane falls for her heroic savior, despite the obvious danger that his
existence has placed her in throughout the course of the tale. But think, for a minute, what things
would be like if they were portrayed from the female gaze, by way of Mary Jane. The story would be
entirely different, with the men involved all becoming villains in their own

Polarization of X-Rays
Polarization of X rays was first demonstrated by Barkla. He was performing experiments on the
secondary X ray radiation phenomena (C. G. Barkla 1905). He used a block of graphite that scatters
the primary X ray beam from an X ray tube. The scattered intensity of the X ray beam was measured
in two mutually perpendicular directions. He denoted the scattered intensity in a parallel direction to
the tube axis I_pand the one scattered at right angles I_s. The degree of polarization for X rays emitted
at an angle θ to the direction of the electron beam is given as (Agarwal 1991):
P_(pol(θ))=(I_s I_p)/(I_s+I_p )
Barkla found that for θ=90°,I_p was larger than I_s by ≈20%. This discovery that X rays can be partly
polarized proved that they are transverse electromagnetic waves. However, Barkla actually studied
and measured the polarization of the bremsstrahlung (continuous) radiation.
When electrons emitted from a heated cathode filament are accelerated by a potential difference U and
impinge onto an anode target (for example tungsten), the motions of the electrons with in the target are
influenced by the strong Coulomb fields of the atomic nuclei. As a result, the electrons are decelerated
within small distances and; consequently, a broadband bremsstrahlung or continuous radiation is
produced. Figure 2.3. PENELOPE simulated spectrum of a bremsstrahlung from a tungsten metal for

The Effects Of Autistic Children
Arsham and Ani are parents of an autistic child. Their son s name is Ara, he was diagnosed with
Autism at age 3. Ara had never developed speech, had severe focusing issues, and he had trouble
communicating. Speech therapy hadn t worked for Ara so when a mother of another Autistic child
recommended the GFCF diet Ani jumped at the chance. Within four months of starting the diet, Ara
had significantly improved. Ara was potty trained, had begun reading, speaking in sentences, and
communicating with other children. Autism is a developmental disorder. It impairs a person s

Not only can they help the digestive issues these diets lessen Autistic behaviors. Tailoring a specially
designed balanced diet with appropriate micronutrient supplementation may ameliorate the severity of
autism symptoms and related abnormal behaviors (Meguid, 2015, June 15). The specific intake of the
diets can cause considerable improvements in the child s life. If an Autistic child can be placed on one
of the diets it can prevent digestive issues and reduce Autistic symptoms.
Gluten free, Casein free, Soy free Diet
The gluten free, casein free, soy free diet can improve Autistic children s lives. The GFCFSF is known
as the Autism Diet. It has helped many people with autism spectrum disorders improve their health
and functioning. ASD children usually limit their diet to a few things. Once children are the diet, they
expand their food to include more nutritional choices (Bortfeld, 2017, May 14). These healthier
choices improve the overall nourishment of the child. The nutritional selection also helps with health
issues the child may be suffering from. Research by Dr. Harumi Jyonouchi shows that 91% of people
with ASD... who tried a GFCFSF diet reported improvements in GI symptoms and some autistic
behaviors (Bortfeld, 2017, May 14). The diet can have a positive affect Gastrointestinal (GI) problems

The Social Phenomenon Of Female Juvenile Prostitution Essay
SAVING OUR GIRLS
Nikia S. Gettridge
Understanding Prostitution
The social phenomenon of female juvenile prostitution is a serious problem that is difficult to
understand and troublesome to acknowledge. The fact that young girls are finding their way into the
complex system of prostitution is often met with disbelief (OJJDP, 2002).
In order to understand prostitution, it is necessary to understand:
1. Lethal gender inequality
2. Incest and other childhood sexual assault
3. Poverty and homelessness
4. The ways in which racism and colonialism are inextricably connected with sexism in prostitution
5. Domestic violence, including rape
6. Posttraumatic stress disorder, depression, mood and dissociative disorders as consequences of
prostitution
7. Drug and alcohol addiction
8. The fact that prostitution is a global business which involves interstate and inter country trafficking
as a necessary part of its profitable operation
9. In nondominant states the ways in which economic development programs erode traditional ways of
living
10. The need for culturally relevant treatment
11. The ways in which diverse cultures normalize and promote prostitution, stripping, exotic dancing,
nude dancing, table dancing, phone sex, trafficking, child and adult pornography, lap dancing,
massage brothels, and peep shows as prostitution (ProstitutionResearch.com)

Growth Theories Of Growth And Growth Models
Growth Theories
Under the growth theories some theories of growth and growth models will be reviewed;
i) The Harrod Domar Growth Model
In economic literature, this model is called capital only model. Harrod and Domar (1948) took over
from Rostow, because Rostow had some unanswered questions. The model stated that saving is a
certain proportion of national income and net investment is defined as the change in capital stock (K).
The model further assumes that there is some direct relationship between the size of the capital stock,
(K), and total GNP, (Y). This follows that any addition to the capital stock in the form of new
investment will bring about corresponding increase in the flow of national output, GNP. This
relationship is known in economics as the capital output ratio. If the capital output ratio is defined as k
and assume further that the national savings ratio, s, is a fixed proportion of national output (e.g. 6%)
and that total new investment is determined by the level of total savings, we can construct the
following simple model of economic growth Balami (2006).
Savings (S) is some proportion, S, of national income (Y) such that we have the simple equation
S = SY ....................................................................................... (2.1)
Net investment (I) is defined as the change in the capital stock, K, and can be represented by ΔK such
that
I = ΔK ...................................................................................... (2.2)
But because the total capital stock, K, bears a direct relationship to total national income or output, Y,

Pros And Cons Of High Stake Testing
High Stake Testing According to our textbook, high stake testing involves all students including those
with disabilities participating in a standardized summative common assessment, which is mandated by
the federal government. (Salend, 2016, pg 454) These assessments are used to measure mastery of
benchmarks in the curriculum. (Salend, 2016, pg 454) These assessments are used and analyzed in
order to make important decisions. The results of high stake testing can be used to make decisions
about a student s education program and promotion. They often are used to measure teaching
effectiveness. The use of high stake testing is highly controversial. Many argue these tests are not an
accurate depiction of a student s abilities. Not every student is a good test taker, and other means of
assessments could be used to measure student s skills and abilities. It may also cause pressure on
students as well as cause testing anxiety and lack of motivation in some students. (Salend, 2016, pg
455) Other consequences of high stake testing is that is puts too much reliance on a test to measure
teacher effectiveness. It also puts a lot of pressure on teachers since they are often evaluated based on
the results of students performance on the test. This may lead to teacher s teaching to the test and may
limit their creativity and time spent on other content outside of the test. There are alternative testing
assessments and testing accommodations available for students with disabilities.

Reflection Of The Brain
By far, the most interesting concept that I have ever come across in my life is the brain. The brain is a
an array of complexities involving lobes, such as the frontal and temporal, that have different
functions and control a different part of a human s life. I think that the more one digs deeper into the
way that the brain works, the more one begins to realize just how many things can go wrong in the
brain which can lead to a lifetime of devastation. Looking at the bigger picture, I think that I am more
than honored to work in any research project that involves anything remotely related to the
neuroscience because I am always looking for ways to expand my knowledge about the brain and
essentially the nervous system in general. To be specific, I am interested in how to handle any
dementia related diseases such as Alzheimer s or Parkinson s, since I think that these diseases along
with diseases such as Huntington s affects a lot of people nationwide, and focusing research on
neuroscience diseases in general will help and impact many individuals worldwide. Going into more
detail, I would like to research what kind of mechanisms or biotechnology we can use in order to alert
future patients of their future risk for these neuroscience diseases. For example, maybe the percentage
of the time they stay in REM sleep might help with the configuration of a formula that can be
generated into an app that tracks on sleeps states and combined with their genetic disposition, science
will be able to determine their risk for Alzheimer s and so on. In addition, I would like to seek a
research project that kind of nails down the diagnostic stage of Alzheimer s. Currently, there is
research out there that talk about the buildup of plaque but there also counter arguments that state how
80 years olds present with this plaque do not even show the slightest symptoms of dementia which
counters what modern medicine is saying about the plaques being linked to Alzheimer s. I think that if
we had a hard set on what the official diagnosis for Alzheimer s, Parkinson s, Huntington s, or any
neurological disease for that matter, it would be beneficial to the world at large. Diverting away from
neuroscience, I am also interested in the

Persuasive Essay On Sexually Transmitted Disease
Something in life I never enjoy is role play. Something about it annoys me which makes it much more
difficult to do. Especially when writing out a conversation. Since I m going at it again I will definitely
be putting some thought into this, so here I go. If my partner asked me about STDs, it wouldn t be just
one question. I would expect to be bombarded with questions. If my mysterious partner was to start it
would be along the lines of I m starting to have certain symptoms, should I be tested? I would then
ask, what do you think you have? If an STD is a possibility, there would be many more questions after
that. She would then ask things like what are the risks, do I have to get tested, what are the chances I
have it? Well, there are many risks when it comes to Sexually transmitted diseases. STDS range from
harmless to dangerous, temporary to permanent, and not contagious to contagious. You never have to
get tested, but never knowing is gambling with the quality of your life and maybe even others. If you
do have something that could be spread, the last thing you actually want to do is spread the disease. It
is always highly recommended that you be tested for sexually transmitted diseases every year. Even
when you aren t sexually active it is recommended that you get tested and if you are found to have a
serious disease, spreading the STD with knowledge of a diagnosis is punishable by law and should
never be done. Sexually transmitted diseases are easily passed between people from contact and not
just sexual contact either. They can be passed through blood and saliva from intercourse, kissing,
contact with blood in open wounds, sharing needles, or any other way that could possibly bring bodily
fluids into contact with your own body. So even if you are not sexually active during that time or even
if you have never had sex. It is always recommended to be tested because you never know what you
have come in contact with. She then would probably ask me well how common are STDs and what
STDs are most seen? I would say that sexually transmitted diseases are very common among the
population more common than one might think. According to certain studies, more than sixty five
million people are currently

The Vanishing Point In Renaissance Art a) Using an image sourced from the lectures, explain how the application of the vanishing point changed representation; and demonstrate the location of the vanishing point in the image, describing your rationale. 500 words. During the Renaissance, the arts gained an intellectual status that was previously unheard of thanks to the application of the vanishing point. Renaissance artists spent their time experimenting ways to create the illusion of space on a two dimensional surface; Fillipo Brunelleshi was among the first to devise an effective system of doing so (Babick, 2010). This system created the illusion of space, or better known as perspective, by utilising a vanishing point. The vanishing point is also referred to as the point of infinity, meaning the point in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Contrary to red, blue is a cool colour used to convey feelings of calmness, sadness, and melancholy. It is also associated with royalty due to its use in classical mythology to represent gods and heaven. More recently blue has become associated with gender neutrality, often being a featured colour in fashion labels. In the above painting, blue is used to colour the sky, the ocean and the clothing being worn. The sky and ocean are blue in nature which explains the colour choice but the two natural phenomenon s are expansive and open, giving blue another connotation of openness. Blue clothing in media is used to represent superheroes or the good guys which suggests that those in the painting clothed in blue are this pieces protagonists. Red and blue are commonly associated with each other, often to represent opposites. This duo of colours is utilised together in films and other visual mediums to provide subtle visual clues of clashing mentalities. This is prominent in gaming especially as red, not always but often, is used to represent brawn while blue represents ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Great Expectations Vs Great Expectations It is not challenging for the story of Great Expectations to survive as it had been presented in Charles Dickens book and faithful film adaptations. In the 1800s, Britain was undoubtedly the most powerful and great nation in the world. In this society of wealth and power, a gentleman was one that possessed wealth and power but also of great importance was that those attributes came from a respectable source. Charles Dickens wrote this novel to warn Britain against the arrogance, wealth and power its people had in those days, and favoured a gentleman of great humility and respect for others. The Victorian idea of a gentleman during these times is based on birth, apparel, social status and wealth. On the other hand, Dickens portrays a gentleman as someone of generosity, humility, and kindness. The early life and the upbringing of Dickens allowed him to understand the perspective of those of low social standing and the effect of their poor upbringing keeping them in the lower social class. Dickens Great Expectations portrays a very class mobile society in which fortunes can be made and lost equally suddenly, while by contrast Dickens portrayed the extraordinarily varied ways in small differences of dress, accent, and action by which people present themselves and act out their class identities and aspirations. Someone who came from a respectable and wealthy family in Victorians times was described to be a gentleman. This is evident in various characters in the book who are ... • 6. Argumentative Essay On Fast Food By now everyone knows that the fast food chains are being sued because they allegedly contribute to obesity. On Fox s Hannity and Colmes program last July, Samuel Hirsch, the attorney who filed lawsuits against McDonald s, Burger King, Wendy s, and KFC on behalf of his client who blames them for his poor health, admitted that the restaurants are not completely to blame. But he added that their failure to post warnings about nutrition content and their sophisticated marketing strategies make them partly culpable. Hirsch s claim that nutrition information is not available is false. Every one of these companies has its nutrition information available on its website, and I have seen nutrition content posters at several fast food establishments. But even if the restaurant provided no information, it is easy enough to learn from books, the Internet, television, and radio that certain foods can promote heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure. To hear Hirsch tell it, working parents must be stupid because they don t know what they are buying. With his use of the term working he was setting himself up as the champion of the common man. The ridiculous claim that corporations are responsible for people s health problems is nothing new. Remember the lawsuits against the tobacco companies? If you smoke let me ask you this: did an employee from one of the tobacco companies put a gun to your head and make you smoke a cigarette? I didn t think so. People who are dying ... • 9. Consequences of Industrialization Most people regard industrialization as a positive development capable of generating great wealth and revitalizing run down areas. Mention industrialization today, and it brings to mind large factories organized with the latest technologies in mass producing. Along with these visions comes the promise of more jobs for the community, higher rates of pay, and financial stability. One can only think of the positive influences on a community that the opening of a new factory could bring, but during what some have deemed the Industrial Revolution, industrialization only meant using machines and new power sources to accomplish a task formerly done by human and animal power. • 10. Imperialism In Philippines 170140076 Natasha Schottland H Modern World History December 22, 2016 Imperialism in the Philippines For over 400 years, the Philippines has been imperialized by the Spanish and the U.S. in order to gain more power. Under their control, there have been many changes to culture, tradition, religion, and language due to heavy influence from both countries. Imperialism is a policy where a country extends its power by conquering other territories through diplomatic or military power. Imperialism is heavily driven by the rise of industry and the need for raw materials to manufacture new firearms and consumer goods. The Spanish treated the Filipinos ruthlessly, forcing taxes, labor, and seizing crops and livestock without proper compensation. The U.S. imperialization caused English to become one of the Philippines main languages, hospitals, schools, and railroad systems were established, and present day Philippine government shares similarities to U.S. government. Section 1 First colonized by the Spanish in 1521, the U.S. never had official control of the Philippines until 1899, when the U.S. won the Spanish American war. Eventually, the U.S. acquired the Philippines through the Treaty of Paris, where it states that Spain s control of the Philippine Islands will be transferred to the United States for $20,000,000. The Filipinos first viewed the conflict between Spain and the U.S. as the perfect time to break away from Spanish rule and secure an alliance with the U.S. The U.S. ... The Stapleton Airport was seen as a liability and limited the attractiveness of businesses that were swarming to it. Since no other airlines were emerging with plans to develop their own baggage system, airport planners and consultants drew up plans for an airport wide baggage handling system and sent out request for bids to several different companies. Initially BAE declined to bid on the project due to one main reason; the technology required to operate a system of such a large size and complexity should be determined very early in the project life cycle. BAE had the technology that was needed (destination coded vehicles moving at high speed) but implementing this technology into such a complex project would have required much more time then was available. Going against their better judgment, BAE presented the city of Denver with a proposal to develop the most intricate automated baggage system ever built. The villians of the story are always described in a dark manner. Usually they have a flaw that makes them an outcast. Being the black sheep in the crowd does not shed a good light upon the villian in the story and typically the first time the audience meets the character, they are pushed away at his or her discription. In the excerpt The Case of the Poisen Pretzel , Skidmore is a character who is outcasted and disliked, yet his brother is the hero and everyone in the story loves him. The Supreme Court has tried to explain that the Copyright Clause of the Constitution was intended to establish independent, entrepreneurial, self sustaining authorship and publishing as the means of serving the public interest in securing the production of valuable literary and scientific works. To that one must ask what are the consequences of remix? When I think about it remixing has left a positive and inferior aspect of life for many people. When people are able to steal or copy the work of an individual without any consequence they are sending a clear message saying that they are free of the law. Therefore, I propose that the copyright office of the state of Washington should change the copyright policy of remixing so that it may benefit more people than just the original artist. What are the common consequences of remixing? According to Jenkins, The rise of disco culture in the 70s inspired producers to cut longer extended versions of singles so club patrons could weed out the songs they liked for more than the usual three to four minutes (Jenkins). Now, imitation/remixing in art is not only all right, but it is encouraged, and using someone else s sound, idea, etc. is considered flattery. According to UC Davis professor of law Thomas W. The gaze, however, is also much more than a particular point of view. It is a conveyance of power, and a way in which a narrator is able to completely shape the way readers understand other characters in the story, imparting their own standards and beliefs onto an often unrealizing audience. The gaze has a very clear relation to power in the sense that it is what shapes how an audience sees certain things. This is especially important because Spiderman is primarily marketed towards a younger audience, thus imparting the male gaze upon young people who may never realize that they are being influenced. Mary Jane is the object of affection of not only Spiderman, but also of Harry Osborn, who becomes the villain Green Goblin. Here, we see Mary Jane as the object of desire for both hero and villain, and is subsequently captured and used to lure the hero into battle, where Spiderman must come to her rescue and save the day. And then, once rescued, of course, Mary Jane falls for her heroic savior, despite the obvious danger that his existence has placed her in throughout the course of the tale. But think, for a minute, what things would be like if they were portrayed from the female gaze, by way of Mary Jane. The story would be entirely different, with the men involved all becoming villains in their own ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Polarization of X-Rays Polarization of X rays was first demonstrated by Barkla. He was performing experiments on the secondary X ray radiation phenomena (C. G. Barkla 1905). He used a block of graphite that scatters the primary X ray beam from an X ray tube. The scattered intensity of the X ray beam was measured in two mutually perpendicular directions. He denoted the scattered intensity in a parallel direction to the tube axis I_pand the one scattered at right angles I_s. The degree of polarization for X rays emitted at an angle θ to the direction of the electron beam is given as (Agarwal 1991): P_(pol(θ))=(I_s I_p)/(I_s+I_p ) Barkla found that for θ=90°,I_p was larger than I_s by ≈20%. This discovery that X rays can be partly polarized proved that they are transverse electromagnetic waves. However, Barkla actually studied and measured the polarization of the bremsstrahlung (continuous) radiation. When electrons emitted from a heated cathode filament are accelerated by a potential difference U and impinge onto an anode target (for example tungsten), the motions of the electrons with in the target are influenced by the strong Coulomb fields of the atomic nuclei. As a result, the electrons are decelerated within small distances and; consequently, a broadband bremsstrahlung or continuous radiation is produced. Figure 2.3. PENELOPE simulated spectrum of a bremsstrahlung from a tungsten metal for 20 keV electron beam energy The intensity distribution of the emitted broad radiation continuum ... • 32. The Effects Of Autistic Children Arsham and Ani are parents of an autistic child. Their son s name is Ara, he was diagnosed with Autism at age 3. Ara had never developed speech, had severe focusing issues, and he had trouble communicating. Speech therapy hadn t worked for Ara so when a mother of another Autistic child recommended the GFCF diet Ani jumped at the chance. Within four months of starting the diet, Ara had significantly improved. Ara was potty trained, had begun reading, speaking in sentences, and communicating with other children. Autism is a developmental disorder. It impairs a person s communication and interactive abilities. The diets for autism are effective in reversing the signs of autism. Tailoring a specially designed balanced diet with appropriate micronutrient supplementation may ameliorate the severity of autism symptoms and related abnormal behaviors (Meguid, 2015, June 15). The specific intake of the diets can cause considerable improvements in the child s life. If an Autistic child can be placed on one of the diets it can prevent digestive issues and reduce Autistic symptoms. Gluten free, Casein free, Soy free Diet The gluten free, casein free, soy free diet can improve Autistic children s lives. The GFCFSF is known as the Autism Diet. It has helped many people with autism spectrum disorders improve their health and functioning. ASD children usually limit their diet to a few things. Once children are the diet, they expand their food to include more nutritional choices (Bortfeld, 2017, May 14). These healthier choices improve the overall nourishment of the child. The nutritional selection also helps with health issues the child may be suffering from. Research by Dr. Harumi Jyonouchi shows that 91% of people with ASD... who tried a GFCFSF diet reported improvements in GI symptoms and some autistic behaviors (Bortfeld, 2017, May 14). The diet can have a positive affect Gastrointestinal (GI) problems and behaviors associated with Autism. These diets can improve an Autistic child and their parent s way of life in many ways. • 33. The Social Phenomenon Of Female Juvenile Prostitution Essay SAVING OUR GIRLS Nikia S. Gettridge Understanding Prostitution The social phenomenon of female juvenile prostitution is a serious problem that is difficult to understand and troublesome to acknowledge. The fact that young girls are finding their way into the complex system of prostitution is often met with disbelief (OJJDP, 2002). In order to understand prostitution, it is necessary to understand: 1. Lethal gender inequality 2. Incest and other childhood sexual assault 3. Poverty and homelessness 4. The ways in which racism and colonialism are inextricably connected with sexism in prostitution 5. Domestic violence, including rape 6. Posttraumatic stress disorder, depression, mood and dissociative disorders as consequences of prostitution 7. Drug and alcohol addiction 8. The fact that prostitution is a global business which involves interstate and inter country trafficking as a necessary part of its profitable operation 9. In nondominant states the ways in which economic development programs erode traditional ways of living 10. The need for culturally relevant treatment 11. The ways in which diverse cultures normalize and promote prostitution, stripping, exotic dancing, nude dancing, table dancing, phone sex, trafficking, child and adult pornography, lap dancing, massage brothels, and peep shows as prostitution (ProstitutionResearch.com) Patterns of Prostitution There are three general patterns for breaking someone into prostitution: In slave ... • 34. Growth Theories Of Growth And Growth Models Growth Theories Under the growth theories some theories of growth and growth models will be reviewed; i) The Harrod Domar Growth Model In economic literature, this model is called capital only model. Harrod and Domar (1948) took over from Rostow, because Rostow had some unanswered questions. The model stated that saving is a certain proportion of national income and net investment is defined as the change in capital stock (K). The model further assumes that there is some direct relationship between the size of the capital stock, (K), and total GNP, (Y). This follows that any addition to the capital stock in the form of new investment will bring about corresponding increase in the flow of national output, GNP. This relationship is known in economics as the capital output ratio. If the capital output ratio is defined as k and assume further that the national savings ratio, s, is a fixed proportion of national output (e.g. 6%) and that total new investment is determined by the level of total savings, we can construct the following simple model of economic growth Balami (2006). Savings (S) is some proportion, S, of national income (Y) such that we have the simple equation S = SY ....................................................................................... (2.1) Net investment (I) is defined as the change in the capital stock, K, and can be represented by ΔK such that I = ΔK ...................................................................................... (2.2) But because the total capital stock, K, bears a direct relationship to total national income or output, Y, as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Pros And Cons Of High Stake Testing High Stake Testing According to our textbook, high stake testing involves all students including those with disabilities participating in a standardized summative common assessment, which is mandated by the federal government. (Salend, 2016, pg 454) These assessments are used to measure mastery of benchmarks in the curriculum. (Salend, 2016, pg 454) These assessments are used and analyzed in order to make important decisions. The results of high stake testing can be used to make decisions about a student s education program and promotion. They often are used to measure teaching effectiveness. The use of high stake testing is highly controversial. Many argue these tests are not an accurate depiction of a student s abilities. Not every student is a good test taker, and other means of assessments could be used to measure student s skills and abilities. It may also cause pressure on students as well as cause testing anxiety and lack of motivation in some students. (Salend, 2016, pg 455) Other consequences of high stake testing is that is puts too much reliance on a test to measure teacher effectiveness. It also puts a lot of pressure on teachers since they are often evaluated based on the results of students performance on the test. This may lead to teacher s teaching to the test and may limit their creativity and time spent on other content outside of the test. There are alternative testing assessments and testing accommodations available for students with disabilities. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Reflection Of The Brain By far, the most interesting concept that I have ever come across in my life is the brain. The brain is a an array of complexities involving lobes, such as the frontal and temporal, that have different functions and control a different part of a human s life. I think that the more one digs deeper into the way that the brain works, the more one begins to realize just how many things can go wrong in the brain which can lead to a lifetime of devastation. Looking at the bigger picture, I think that I am more than honored to work in any research project that involves anything remotely related to the neuroscience because I am always looking for ways to expand my knowledge about the brain and essentially the nervous system in general. To be specific, I am interested in how to handle any dementia related diseases such as Alzheimer s or Parkinson s, since I think that these diseases along with diseases such as Huntington s affects a lot of people nationwide, and focusing research on neuroscience diseases in general will help and impact many individuals worldwide. Going into more detail, I would like to research what kind of mechanisms or biotechnology we can use in order to alert future patients of their future risk for these neuroscience diseases. For example, maybe the percentage of the time they stay in REM sleep might help with the configuration of a formula that can be generated into an app that tracks on sleeps states and combined with their genetic disposition, science will be able to determine their risk for Alzheimer s and so on. In addition, I would like to seek a research project that kind of nails down the diagnostic stage of Alzheimer s. Currently, there is research out there that talk about the buildup of plaque but there also counter arguments that state how 80 years olds present with this plaque do not even show the slightest symptoms of dementia which counters what modern medicine is saying about the plaques being linked to Alzheimer s. I think that if we had a hard set on what the official diagnosis for Alzheimer s, Parkinson s, Huntington s, or any neurological disease for that matter, it would be beneficial to the world at large. Diverting away from neuroscience, I am also interested in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Persuasive Essay On Sexually Transmitted Disease Something in life I never enjoy is role play. Something about it annoys me which makes it much more difficult to do. Especially when writing out a conversation. Since I m going at it again I will definitely be putting some thought into this, so here I go. If my partner asked me about STDs, it wouldn t be just one question. I would expect to be bombarded with questions. If my mysterious partner was to start it would be along the lines of I m starting to have certain symptoms, should I be tested? I would then ask, what do you think you have? If an STD is a possibility, there would be many more questions after that. She would then ask things like what are the risks, do I have to get tested, what are the chances I have it? Well, there are many risks when it comes to Sexually transmitted diseases. STDS range from harmless to dangerous, temporary to permanent, and not contagious to contagious. You never have to get tested, but never knowing is gambling with the quality of your life and maybe even others. If you do have something that could be spread, the last thing you actually want to do is spread the disease. It is always highly recommended that you be tested for sexually transmitted diseases every year. Even when you aren t sexually active it is recommended that you get tested and if you are found to have a serious disease, spreading the STD with knowledge of a diagnosis is punishable by law and should never be done. Sexually transmitted diseases are easily passed between people from contact and not just sexual contact either. They can be passed through blood and saliva from intercourse, kissing, contact with blood in open wounds, sharing needles, or any other way that could possibly bring bodily fluids into contact with your own body. So even if you are not sexually active during that time or even if you have never had sex. It is always recommended to be tested because you never know what you have come in contact with. She then would probably ask me well how common are STDs and what STDs are most seen? I would say that sexually transmitted diseases are very common among the population more common than one might think. According to certain studies, more than sixty five million people are currently ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
