Greasy Lake Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Greasy Lake" can present both challenges and opportunities
for exploration. The difficulty lies in capturing the essence of the story penned by T.C. Boyle
and delving into its various layers. One must navigate the intricate narrative, deciphering the
symbolism, character dynamics, and overarching themes that contribute to the richness of the
tale.
The process requires a keen analytical eye to unravel the complexities of the characters,
particularly the protagonist's journey and the transformation he undergoes in the murky setting
of Greasy Lake. Balancing a nuanced understanding of the narrative with concise and effective
expression can be demanding, as it necessitates a careful selection of words to convey the story's
depth and intricacies.
Moreover, delving into the symbolism embedded in Greasy Lake, such as the lake itself and the
symbolic elements within the story, adds another layer of complexity. Unraveling these symbols
and connecting them to broader themes demands both critical thinking and creative
interpretation. Crafting a cohesive and insightful analysis requires a thorough examination of the
author's intent and the literary devices employed.
Despite these challenges, the process of writing an essay on "Greasy Lake" offers an opportunity
for intellectual engagement and personal interpretation. The richness of the narrative allows for a
deep exploration of literary elements and encourages a thoughtful reflection on the human
experience.
In conclusion, tackling a "Greasy Lake" essay demands a careful balance of analytical acumen
and expressive prowess. Navigating through the narrative intricacies and uncovering the layers
of symbolism requires dedication and a keen literary insight. However, the journey of crafting
such an essay is intellectually rewarding, offering a chance to delve into the complexities of
literature. For those seeking assistance in exploring similar literary analyses or other writing

Vices In Canto 19
In the beginning of Canto 19, the Pilgrim has a dream of a siren who quickly
becomes the center of his attention. He describes the siren as a female who is
stuttering, cross eyed, has crooked on her feet and has stunted hands (p. 309, lines
7 9). This is a very strong image for the beginning of a Canto and it seems to state
something about all the vices in general: vices cause a lack of effective speech,
cannot see accurately, cannot move towards accurate goods and cannot perform
good works. The one that really connects with all the vices is one cannot see good
accurately. According to Aquinas, vices are inordinate desires for a good, because
no one desires something evil, but rather something viewed as a good. Vices are a
movement towards... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the end of Canto 19 (line 121 123), Pope Adrian the V talks about how avarice
extinguishes a person s love for every good: Since avarice extinguished our love
for every good, so that our power to act was lost, so injustice keeps us fixed here
(p. 315). This statement briefly summarizes why avarice can be so dangerous
because avarice decreases someone s love for an actual good. Being able to
determine between a fake good and an actual good can be almost non existent,
when it comes to the vice of avarice. In question 118 by Aquinas, he discusses
covetousness and states that it signifies an immoderation for external things. In
this sense, covetousness can be seen as a part of avarice. There are multiple
references in these Cantos to the daughter vices of covetousness: restlesness,
violence and fraud. A main example of all three is in Canto 20 (p. 329), when
Hugh Capet talks about his desire for power: There with force and fraud it began
its plundering, and then, to make amends, it took Ponthieu and Normandy and
Gascony (lines 64 66). This inordinate desire for external goods can lead to
completely cut one off from God and from charity because an avaricious person
only desires to keep attaining more external goods, and when a good is reached, it is
not good
How Climate Change Is Happening All Over And It Has...

Climate Change Paper
Dr. Sian Ritchie
Opening Sentence:
Climate Change is happening all over and it has extreme consequences. Governor
Inslee s plan is heading in the right direction to solve these problems. To help reduce
these consequences we need to find alternative cleaner resources to use.
Section 1: How climate works Climate change has many factors; albedo is one of
many. Albedo is where the snow and ice reflect sunlight back into space. But as the
Earth s temperature continues to rise the snow and ice are beginning to melt causing
the ground and water to absorb the sunlight heating things up. With the carbon dioxide
levels rising throughout the years the ocean absorbed 30% of it, creating
acidification, which is killing coral reefs. As this occurs it is destroying the shelter
for many types of fish. With the coral reefs dying the fish population is decreasing
significantly this is a major problem for the areas of the world were catching fish to
feed their families is all they have as a food source. (Hewitt et al., 343 351)
The conveyor belt is being affected as well, due to the rise of carbon dioxide levels.
As the snow and ice melt the large amount of fresh water runs into the ocean
making it less salty. When the water becomes less salty it turns out to be less dense
and not able to sink like it should to keep the conveyor belt going, which keeps
Europe from freezing. The level of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases have
increased by
The Hobbit Movie Vs Book
One Dwarf. Two Dwarf.Three Dwarf. Beorn!
ВЁThe HobbitВЁ written by J.R.R Tolkien, movie directed by Peter Jackson is a
tale that tells of a party who longs to reclaim their long forgotten gold, and how
characters develop throughout the story. This storyline is of twelve dwarves, a
wizard, and one hobbit going on an adventure. An adventure of a mountain full of
treasure and frightening beings. When Beorn, (someone who helps the dwarves
survive during the quest) is first introduced, he is introduced as a man in the book
and is, really important ,but in the movie he is introduced as a creature that takes the
form of a bear. The changes that director Peter Jackson made are effective because, it
will interest the viewer more so than the book ... Show more content on

Tolkien s intent on including Beorn in the book is to allow the dwarves to be in a
situation of which they can not decide their own fate; that it is up to Beorn to help
them or not to help them. Beorn is portrayed as the antagonist in this particular
scene in the movie because of the frightening music and the dull, dark lighting ,and
the way his character looks. Jackson did this to, in a way, trick the viewers. In order
to have this done he had to make Beorn act and look unpredictable. This was to
create suspense about the film. Overall, he he had to look scarey but then reasonable.
Those who disagree believe that the book was better: for some yes. It is better
because they have a vivid imagination. It allows people to have the opportunity to try
reading for once and experience that same feeling readers get with noses in boo
In conclusion, the novel and movie are about greed in the world, how people take
things for granted, and how a destitute people reclaim their home. The movie is better
because there is more action and unimaginative people can still experience the same
excitement of the tale just like the imaginative people who read the book do. The
author uses these themes throughout the story line. However, the exciting action
scenes and the dramatic music in the background allows viewers to feel the emotions
of the movie and its
Roman Art Influence On Greek Art
Throughout art history, artists have shown not only their cultural beliefs, but they
have also shown their religious perspectives as well. Artists have shown images of
deities through sculptures, paintings, and even buildings. An example representing
a deity would be the bronzed sculpture Zeus or Poseidon from 460 450 BCE.
Different from Egyptian religions, Greek gods were always created in a human
form due to the fact that they felt higher and much more greater to followers of
religions that worshipped animals or mountains. Greek gods were responsible for
many parts of the natural world and human life, for example, love, warfare, and the
seasons. The first images were very firm, portrayed no movement, and were very
straightforward, but later in time these images shaped the human body with much
detail and precision, as we see with Zeusor Poseidon, as well as showing movement.
Zeus was the leader among the Greek gods and is shown with an ideal and godlike
body. Due to his right hand appearing as if he is holding an object, it is said that he
could be holding a thunderbolt, representing Zeus or the Godof sky and thunder, or
possibly a trident, representing Poseidon or the God of Sea. His stance is slightly
back, representing movement or action, and he appears... Show more content on

For example, the Mesoamerican cultures linked the gods with corn and water,
which were very essential and symbolically stood for food. For example, let us take
a look at the maize goddess named Xilonen. Similar to Zeus or Poseidon, Xilonen
was created human like and had many ornaments placed on her. As we can see, she
has a headband that has dangling ornaments as well as ears of corn. She also has a
collar with sunrays and a jade necklace that symbolizes crop abundance. All of her
ornaments establish her divinity and the power she holds towards the growth of
Basketball in NS Essay
Basketball was first introduced to Nova Scotia as early as 1895 but in the past thirty
years the popularity of the sport has really taken off. The high concentration of
universities in the province, the tradition and esteem of the high school programs,
and the continued support from a large and knowledgeable basketball community
have made the game a staple of NovaScotia life, culminating with the capital city of
Halifaxbecoming known as the basketball capital of Canada. When you talk about
basketball in the Maritimes you can break it down into different levels of
competition. There are the club systems throughout the province, the regional and
provincial teams, then high school basketball, then you have to look at intercollegiate

Another first time winner was Halifax West as traditional powerhouses from
Queen Elizabeth and St. Patrick s faced greater competition. Another sign of the
game s popularity was the fact that it was being played in the summer time. After
watching rare broadcasts of NBA playoffs, in which one of the halftime events was
pitting the greatest players in the game one on one, this format was adopted in
Halifax and tournaments were held with the winner gaining bragging rights
throughout the city. At the university level, Brian Heaney took over as coach of
the St. Mary s Huskies. The former Acadia superstar took over the Huskies in 1971
and for the next eight years under his reign St. Mary s replaced Acadia as the
premiere basketball squad in the province. During the decade St. Mary s won the
national championships in 1973, 78, and 79 respectively and reached the finals on
two other occasions. The Axemen remained highly competitive and won the nationals
in 1971 and 1977. They were a formidable opponent for the Huskies, which resulted
in one of the greatest intercollegiate rivalries in the province s history. The two strong
teams made the Atlantic Universities Athletic Association the strongest conference in
the country for the first time as Acadia or SMU captured five national championships
during the decade. (1) Some of the star university players during that time period

Willem Van Aelst
After reading my peers interpretation of the still life by Willem Van Aelst, I came to
the decision that most of the student s responses weren t what the artist envisioned
the viewer s to see. We all acknowledged similar features, but we were all shown how
incorrect we were in Thursday s class discussion.
Each of us observed similar aspects in the painting. The central features that were
pointed out were the objects of the blue, velvet bag, the ivory horn, and the various
birds. The blue bag was where I concentrated on when I observed the painting as a
whole. I feel that its color really stood out compared to the rest of the painting. The
bag formed a contrast with the background as well as the prominent, white, bird in the
center of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The carving then became apparent as I focused intensively towards the outer regions
of the painting. It represented three naked women, viewed from behind, in the outside
world. In between the straps, of the hunting bag, lies a tree which contributes to the
wilderness scene. This then poses the questions as to who are these women and why
are they here? In class, it was then added that the woman looked like Greek women
based off of the common known statues of Greek individuals. That being suggested,
the class then made the assumption that the women in the carving of the marble table
could be Artemis, the goddess of the wilderness and hunt. This is very likely as
Artemis pertains to the entire scene being portrayed: the aftermath of a hunt. Another
way that the carving can be tied to Artemis, is through the story of Artemis and
Acateon. In this myth, Acateon is a hunter and is wandering in to the forest when he
sees Artemis bathing. In retaliation, she transforms Acateon into a deer and his
hunting dogs rip him apart. This painting would be an accurate display to have in a
house where someone hunts. For the piece represents the activity that whomever

Comic Books, By Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, And Frank Millar
There will always be entertainment and in the 1960 s comic books ruled the
entertainment industry, and even now they dominate as comic book movies. The
worlds created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Frank Millar have become pop culture
and people across the world have gazed upon this form of art and literature
combined. The protectors of the universe, as powerful as they can be, are missing
one key component, the universe. The issue that comic books have not been as
diverse as the world they protect is, has been raised many times and the controversy
has been mostly addressed. The ways in which they have been addressed has caused
even more controversy. The argument has many to believe that anyone can relate to

The comic book is a way in which so many have taken to reading and observing art,
and it has changed throughout the years. In the 1930 s and 40 s a child of color or
even a girl would be able to find someone who looked like them in the comic books
they purchased. They were to read Superman and Batman, with whom both were
well off and white. They had to read these characters in order to get their
entertainment before televisions became popular. In the 50 s the comic books were
still white dominated, however, a female hero was introduced as Wonder Woman.
That was the status quo until 1966 when Black Panther was introduced. The
mainstream comic scene was changed and he was followed by Falcon, Storm, and
Luke Cage. That was a changing point and yet many argue that there is still not
enough representation of minorities in comic books. The support for more diverse
characters is noticeable in an article by Matthew J. Smith Ph.D. written for The
Washington Post. The article titled A Brief History of Racial and Gender Diversity in
Comic Books Movies is where he makes his point that the need for more diverse
characters in entertainment such as comic books and their motion picture
counterparts. In the article he argues that most of the population wants what they see
to represent them fully. However, he acknowledges there are many characteristics that
hold true with the minority groups, such as growing up in Brooklyn and

Honesty Deceit In Shakespeare s Othello
Is Honesty Deceit?
In the play Othello, by William Shakespeare, it is made clear that honesty goes hand
in hand with deceit and gullibility, which ultimately leads to the demise of many. By
winning over someone s trust, it is easy to fully take advantage of them and deceive
them into believing the lies that are being fed to them. This is seen quite frequently
through Iago, as his character develops throughout the play. This poses the very
intriguing question: Is honesty deceit? In an article by Paul A. Jorgenson, it is stated,
How may one man know the honest man from the knave? (557). If someone can
easily use their genuine, honest nature to their advantage to become misleading and
powerful, can t it be said that honesty is not truly honest ... Show more content on

Despite the fact that he acts out of love for his wife, this is not enough to justify his
actions and we are still left with the paradox of honest Iago . Moreover, it can be
deducted that through the deceit of honesty, the lives of many are destroyed and torn
apart. Iago utterly destroys Desdemona, Roderigo, Cassio, Emilia, and Othello, all
due to a fit of rage caused by a lack of a promotion. He is portrayed throughout the
play as honest Iago , yet we, as the audience, see another side of him all together.
When he indirectly accuses Desdemona of cheating, he creates a domino effect that
eventually leads to the death of essentially the entire cast of the play. He not only
ruins their lives, he strips them of their own knowledge of their control over
themselves and was the cause of their deaths. Works Cited

Why the People Are Interested in Serial Killers Essays
Serial Killers Serial killers have struck fear in the hearts of people, yet the public
remains fascinated and intrigued by the crimes perpetrated by these individuals.
There are several theories and factors that have been attributed to serial killers in an
attempt to explain their behaviors. Furthermore, by indentifying the behaviors that
are exhibited by serial killers, law enforcement professionals are able to gather
information about these serial killers that will assist in the apprehension of the
criminal. In the majority of serial homicides, a motivating factor, in addition to
domination and manipulation of a victim, is the sexual gratification and desire that is

Michael H. Stone in The Anatomy of Evil states that there are several factors that
influence a serial killer s behavior. The factors that may influence behavior are
presented in a nature versus nurture model with occasional factors falling into a
category of mixed and/or unknown origins (201). The factors that Stone considers to
pertain to an individual s natural environment include mental illness that is coupled
with psychosis, schizophrenia, manic depression, autism, and Aspergers Syndrome.
Also included in the list of natural factors are mental illnesses without psychosis such
as ADD and ADHD, alcoholism, epilepsy, and an inordinate sexual drive (201).
Personality disorders are considered to be inherent to an individual and are therefore
considered to be a part of an individual s natural environment; personality disorders
include being antisocial, psychopathic, schizoid, sadistic, paranoid, and/or impulsive
aggressive (201). Stone identifies nurture factors as parental physical/sexual/verbal
abuse, parental abandonment and/or neglect, the loss of a parent, absence of a father,
separation and/or divorce of the parental unit before the child is 16, and brain disease
or damage (201). The factors that Stone considers to be attributed to mixed or
unknown origins include paraphilia, juvenile delinquency, substance abuse,
alcoholism, conduct disorders that are committed in childhood, animal torture and
arson,
The Church Of Worship Associated With Their Religion
For the many people who choose to follow a religion, the place of worship
associated with their religion often serves as the center of their religious
experience. For followers of Christianity, this significant place is a church. By
attending church services weekly, or sometimes even daily, more common among
extremely devoted members, people give meaning to the church itself. Without the
church community, meaning the people who belong to the church, the church
could be just any another brick building at the end of the street. This is not the
case, however, as active church members, and even just visitors, like myself, each
instill their own meaning into the church, and the sum of all of these individual
experiences is what makes the church so meaningful. Before this past weekend, I
had only ever been to churches for weddings and funerals. I did not grow up in a
religious family, so the concept of going to church was never prominent in my
mind, nor a part of my life. From a young age, though, I could always tell that
churches were significant places. While many churches are large and grand, clearly
displaying their importance, even smaller, more simple churches still seem to
demand a level of respect that other sorts of buildings just do not. So, I decided to
use this opportunity to find out what I had been missing throughout my life: going to
a Sunday church service. My friend Camille is a member of the Church of Christ,
Scientist, a relatively new denomination of
Aaron Hillel Swartz Stealing
The law about what is stealing is very clear. Stealing is taking something away from
someone so they cannot use it. There s no way that making a copy of something is

2004. As a gifted son of a programmer, he was exposed to various programming

The New Jim Crow
The New Jim Crow
The New Jim Crow is a book that gives a look on how discrimination is still and at
some post more prevalent today than it was in the 1850s. Author Michelle
Alexander dives into the justice system and explains how a lot of practices and
beliefs from slavery times are just labeled differently now. The labeling creates legal
discrimination, but most people over look it because it is hidden with words such as
criminals or felon in order to legally enslave and segregate a certain type of people.
This discrimination is located in multiple areas of the U.S. government. Alexander

Alexander makes a lot of good points and truthfully I agree with the whole book.
While reading the book I never knew that the War on Drugs was started when illegal
drug use was on the decline. I also did not know that the War on Drugs was issued
years before crack and cocaine moved into the neighborhoods. I also love the point
that she makes about President Barrack Obama. She talks about how because we
have an African Americanpresident does not mean that this country has defeated
the concept of race. Race is now currently a fact whether we like to admit it or not.
She feels that the new Jim Crow system is still in effect even if there are African
Americans that are exceptions to the rules. Just like the original Jim Crow was
used to control the advancement of blacks and used as a system of legal
discrimination, the new Jim Crow uses those exact same concepts and just change
the words we use. A prison is nothing but a plantation and a criminal is now the
slave. The Reagan era game a race to the titles criminal and drug dealers.
Mass incarceration is now just a combination of the previous caste systems
Alexander mentioned in the book. The slave system and the Jim Crow system are
combined now and have become legal through prisons. I agree with the point of
Mass Incarceration is set up to legally set a population to the side and not include
them into the global economy and even when they get released the chances of them

Impact Of Television In The 1950 s
In the 1950s, most TV diversion projects overlooked current occasions and
political issues. Rather, the three noteworthy systems (ABC, NBC, and CBS)

that you needed to realize what was going ahead on the planet you needed to listen
to the radio on the off chance that you were sufficiently blessed to have one. Dark
families were poor. Vagrant laborers endured terrible hardships, and racial pressures
were overflowing. None of this was reflected in the realm of residential comedies.

The Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act Essay
In the medical field or any other professions, privacy is paramount. One of the most
important things is confidentiality. In this case, patients should be able to trust that
they treating physicians will not disclose their personal information to other parties
without their consent. The question then becomes: Under what circumstances is it
alright for physicians to disclose private medical information to third party without
informed consent? Did Dr. Shapiro have the right to disclose Mr. Lovington s
private medical information to his wife Anna, who is also his patient? Nationally,
the Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPAA) was created to
ensure that patient data remained as confidential as it possibly could. The Privacy

biggest achievement of this Privacy Rule is that it not only allows for patient data

best to use to measure volume precisely and accurately. Densities of a series of
known salt solutions were trialed three times and then averaged. By following the
procedures, the unknown salt solution was determined and graphed to calculate the
percent salt to the sample.
Introduction
In chemistry there are often times an unknown solution s density must be determined
by using the known solutions. There are a variety of modern ways that chemist use to
determine an unknown, but the simplest method to find the identity is by using a
common equation: p=M/V P is the density, M is the mass, and V is the volume. Once
the densities of the compounds are known, the density of the unknown solution can
be compared to the four known solutions. When being compared the solutions can be
graphed by plotting density against the percentages of NaCl. Once graphed there will
be an evident straight line graph.
Experimental
General Methods and Materials.
Materials:
1.NaCl solutions of the following strengths: 6% 12% 18%, 24%
2.Unknown brine solution
3.Volumetric flasks, small beakers, droppers, 10 mL and 50 mL graduated cylinders
4.Scale that measures mass in grams
Procedure. For this experiment, the first task was to determine which equipment
would be used to measure volume accurately. The choices were a 10.0 mL
Laws Of Voting And Its Effect On The Voting System
Measures To Establish Trust in Internet Voting
ABSTRACT
The short history of E voting is that it is a term used to define the act of voting by
means of electronic systems to cast and count votes. This article discusses about the
transparency and other measures to establish the trust in E voting. E voting can lead to
success if the voters trust in it and have full confidence on it. It also point out the
voting systems how the system is designed technically and functionally and by
which the voters can makes choices between the options and enforces rules to ensure
valid voting. It also address challenges of project which try to reach a high level of
transparency for others.

INTRODUCTION
In past decade, the government has starts to discuss the system of E voting and this
modern technology. E voting is spread in our communication platform as well as in
media and many countries. In United states different types of electronic systems has
been establish to cast their votes and experience it into two parliamentary elections.
Germany, Russia and other countries also used internet voting at organizations,
companies, homes and universities.
Over the last 10 years this technology proved that it is most reliable and trustable
technology. Some peoples see that this technology is flexible and can save our
precious time and money.

Risk Management Plan of Walmart
Risk Management Discuss the approach your organisation used to manage its new
initiatives especially new product developments. Wal Mart has a unique enterprise
risk management (ERM) plan that was developed internally in the 1990 s that
includes five steps. These five steps are (Atkinson, 2005): Step One Risk
Identification Step Two Risk Mitigation Step Three Action Planning Step Four
Performance Metrics Step Five Shareholder Value/Return on Investment The first
step is to identify the risk. In some cases this can be a difficult task; especially when
the risk stems from the external environment. There are many tools that can help
organizations to help identify potential risks. Once the risk is identified then the next
step that Wal Mart uses is to try to determine possible courses that would allow them
to mitigate the risk. Not all risks are easy to mitigate. For example, external risks
such as a recession might be difficult to mitigate for nearly any organization. Once the
possible risk mitigations strategies are compiled then the next step is to create an
action plan in which puts into action the different mitigation strategies. The next step
is to determine if the plan worked or not. Thus performance metrics have to be
constructed to determine the effectiveness of the action plan. Finally, the last step
that Wal Mart conducts is to use the financial tools to determine how it will affect the
shareholders. Discuss how your organisation evaluates projects
Poverty In Loraine Hansberry s A Raisin In The Sun
Throughout American history, poverty has overwhelmed the inner cities, causing
families to face everyday issues such as finances with regards to food, schooling,
and extra activities or utilities. However, these circumstances can also test a family
and push them to their breaking point. The topic of poverty is evident in Loraine
Hansberry s play that takes place in the late 1950s. As the playA Raisin in the Sun
progresses, the characters develop as a whole, enhancing symbolism specifically
Mama s plant that represent the family. To begin the play, a young man named
Walter is presented as an individual who is selfish and only wishes for his own
personal gains. As his struggles are expressed through his word choice, tone, and
actions, it can be seen that Walter Younger is a man who only thinks about what he
wants, even if it will hurt his family. Soon after, the audience is introduced to Mama
s plant that is withering away in the family s minute apartment since there is not
adequate sunlight or space; she fears that if the old plant doesn t get more sunthan it s
been getting, it ain t ever going to see spring again (Hansberry 508). As the plant is
described, the audience cannot help but relate Walter to the plant: they both lack
space sufficient enough to live and grow as an individual. Similar to the plant
lacking necessities, Walter has a scarce amount of excess money that could help him
achieve his dreams. Overall, this plant is symbolic of Walter in the sense that

Locally, Porter said, I think what we re trying to do is grow apprenticeship awareness.
With one company already interested in piloting the program, she said, It s an

To provide relief for participating companies and create interest in the program,

The apprenticeship program at LuK was started in the 1980s and operates

through the program, said Carrie McKelvey, training and academy leader.
The program, she said, offers training in six program areas: machine repairer,

Adding dimension to the program, she said, the company is working with the Wayne

The Power Of Greed In Macbeth
In William Shakespeare s tragic play, Macbeth , there is blood, power and greed; all
of which can be read with literal and metaphorical interpretations. They intertwine at
different points in the story and have different effects on each of the characters
including: Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, Malcom, and Macduff. These three ideas create
a cycle throughout the story, particularly for Macbeth, as greed leading to the spilling
of blood, which can give someone power is ultimately his demise.
When Shakespeare first mentions Macbeth in the play, King Duncan of Scotland is
being told how General Macbeth and General Banquo subdued Norwegian forces
and arrested the Thane of Cawdor for treason. He seems to have a high moral
standing and be a strong ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Macbeth is nervous and becomes frightened of what they have done while his wife
tells him to change because they have blood on their clothes. This shows that
Macbeth still has some morals, which are being lessened as his greed increases and
there is more blood on his hands. Once Macbeth is crowned king he continues to kill
people in order to secure his rule, including his friend Banquo, Lady Macduff, and
Lady Macduff s children. Macbeth visited the three witches again to listen to more
prophecy about him and an apparition appeared telling him no one given birth to by
a woman shall harm Macbeth (Act 4 Scene 1). By hearing this, Macbeth believed
he was virtually invincible, but in the end Macduff revealed he was brought into
the world by caesarean section, not by a natural birth. Macbeth realizes that
Macduff would be the one to kill him in the battle between Malcolm and he.
Macbeth had entered a cycle of greed, leading to spilling blood, which in turn made
him think he had secured his power. This terrible cycle was ultimately the reason for
his demise because he couldn t control his greed and killed more and more people to
remain the king of Scotland.
From the beginning, Lady Macbeth is seen as greedy and prepared to do what her
husband will not, in order to get what she believes they are destined for. She is more
Absolutism In The French Revolution
Introduction
Europe has always been a great creator and revolutionary continent regarding history,
plenty of revolutions and ideas developments took place there, passing through
changes on territories demands, and many kinds of governments. In the 18th century,
most of the countries were still under an absolutist government, which means the
absolute king had total control of any aspect of the population.
Notwithstanding in France, in the late eighteenth century, absolutism constituted a
huge obstacle to the full development of the French bourgeoisie. The French
revolution was a reflection of the bourgeoisie struggle for political power, such a
revolution carries the French term because it started in France, by a series of factors

The bourgeoisie, had a better social status, however they claimed for greater political
participation and more economic freedom in their work, since everything was ruled
by the absolutist government.
Due this oppressive situation in France, and the visit of French intellectuals to the
English Parliament, the Old Regime began to be criticized, and intellectuals
concluded that the present government in France was unfair, and that the
population was oppressed and unhappy. The traditional order should be overturned,
in the name of freedom. A proposal for a new society was created; the government
would only be fair when guaranteeing the freedom and equality of all before the
law. Thus, the Universal Law of legal equality was developed, and still prevails to
this day: all men are created equal.
In the economy physiocracy (power of nature) was expected to occur, it should work
naturally, that is no barriers for business; the state should not meddle in the economy
(with rules, monopolies, and others). For the enlightenment intellectuals no society
should be obliged to accept the tyranny. If a government is oppressing and
unsatisfactory the people have the right to fight to change it, ergo culminating a

Catapult Impact On Society
Another interesting effect of the catapult was the importance of specialized people.
Before the catapult was invented, soldiers only had to be trained in fighting. After
the invention however, mathematical and engineering skills became important to be
able to build and operate a catapult. The catapult moved the social status of an
engineer from dirty, ugly, and lame, to an important member of society who was in
high demand (Foley and Soedel 8). The creation of the engineer also changed the
structure of labor and how innoventions were developed. Catapults represent some of
the first examples of modern engineering. Dionysius, ruler of Syracuse, was the first
to create these devices, and created them by using modern engineering practices.
These included using large specialized teams, splitting work to be done into feasible
sizes, and giving financial compensation (1). All this change in status and importance
of the engineer brought down likeness in Greek society. Because warfare was based
around only soldiers fighting before the invention of the catapult, soldier conformity
was important. One... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Wheeler writes, Strabo s quotation of the inscription does not
mention the Lelantine War, but the context of the inscription in Strabo is the
Lelantine War. So Strabo (or his source) made this connection, whether or not the
war was the inscription s original context (160). This shows there is a change the
treaty does not even have any connection to the war being discussed. Also, Wheeler
says, Polybius account of the alleged treaty in comparison to Strabo s is vague and
practically useless, except for its role in leading scholars to posit a common source
for the two accounts (161). This unveils another big problem with the literary
evidence. If there is only one useful source, not two a previously thought, how can

Daisy And Tom s Influence On The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby builds on a theme about being wealthy. It shows how wealth is
perceived as good and bad. The character Jay Gatsby had a great desire for wealth
since he was young. Him acquiring money now influences his decisions and others
negatively. He believes that he can do anything and get anything he wants. This
belief influences Nick, Daisy and Tom. Gatsby uses his wealth to try to win over
Daisy from Tom. In the end, Tom wins, and in result Gatsby falls short. Gatsby s
wealth influences many people and impacts them severely. One of those people
being Nick Carraway. He receives an invitation to one of Gatsby s popular parties.
Nick becomes amazed at the extravagance of the party, amount of people, and
Gatsby s house. He becomes astonished at the wealth Gatsby has acquired and
becomes friends with him. Nick becomes influenced by Gatsby, and sees him as the
embodiment of the American Dream. He uses Nick to satisfy his goals, and Nick

The Historical Jesus, Jesus as Messiah, and Jesus the...
Jesus Christ, the figure who changed history more than any other, did many
miracles to show others that he was God s son. God gave Jesus power over nature,
power over disease, and even power over death. As a young Christian, my
knowledge was a little understudied, to say the least. Now, as this module comes to a
close, I realize that I have learned so much! While writing this summary paper, I
intend to discuss my understanding of the historical Jesus, Jesus as the Messiah, and
Jesus as the Personal Savior. About two thousand years ago God arranged the most
humiliating circumstances possible for his incarnation into humanity. Jesus was born
to a teenage virgin named Mary and her husband Joseph.

When Mary arrived, Elizabeth s baby leaped in her womb for joy. This confirmed
Gabriel s prophecy that John would have the Holy Spirit even before birth (New
Advent, 2006)
Joseph considered calling off the marriage after learning that Mary had conceived.
Gabriel appeared to Joseph in a dream and told him to marry her because the
conception was caused by the Holy Spirit. Joseph took Mary as his wife and kept her
a virgin until Jesus was born.
Joseph took Mary to Bethlehem to register for a census. While there, Mary gave
birth to Jesus. She laid him in a manger because there was no room at the inn.
Shepards visited Jesus there.
Later, wise men brought gifts to Jesus. They told Herod the Great, a wicked king,
that Jesus would rule Israel. Herod sent soldiers to kill the children in Bethlehem.
Warned by an angel, Joseph took his family to Egypt. After Herod died, they
returned to Israel and raised Jesus in a town called Nazareth. Jesus grew up in
Nazareth. The Bible gives us a little information about his childhood. Jesus was
taken to Jerusalem for Passover when he was twelve. He spoke with the teachers at
the Temple, who were amazed at his understanding (Life of Christ, 2006). Joseph
was a carpenter, and taught Jesus the trade. Jesus worked as a carpenter until his
ministry began. He was about thirty years old at the time. Jesus taught people how to
live godly lives. As he traveled around Israel, Jesus taught with sermons and parables.

Incarceration of African American Males Essay
Introduction
The trend of African American males between the ages of 25 and 29 has seen a
dramatic increase of incarceration. Attention has been focusing on areas of housing,
education, and healthcare but the most prominent problem for African American
males is the increase in the incarceration rate. African Americanmales between the
ages of 25 and 29 incarceration rate has been thought, by many, to be caused by
economic factors such as under employment or unemployment, poor housing, lack of
education, and lack of healthcare. Yet, others believe it is due to the imbalance of
minorities within the criminal justice system, such as judges, lawyers, and lawmakers.
This paper will explore two different outlooks; society has come up with ... Show

most instances. This leads to a poor African American community, perhaps as many
as 50% of the male population will have been in prison. These incarcerated African

Candida albicans Essay
Candida albicans
Candida albicans is a dimorphic fungus. This means that that C. albicans has to
different phenotypic forms, an oval shaped yeast form and a branching hyphal form.
C. albicans normal habitat is the mucosal membranes of humans and various other
mammals including the mouth, gut, vagina, and sometimes the skin. Normally C.
albicans causes no damage and lives symbiotically with the human or animal host,
even helping to breakdown minute amounts of fiber that are eaten in the host s diet.
The normal bacterial flora of the gut, mouth, and vaginal mucosa act as a barrier to
the over growth of fungal infections like C. albicans. Loss of this normal flora is
one of the main predisposing factors to an infection by C. albicans. ... Show more

albicans can gain an advantage over the normal bacterial flora. Two common
substances are steroids and birth control pills. These both act to alter the host s body
chemistry in a way that is favorable to the over growth of C. albicans. If the host is
immunocompromised to begin with as in the case of AIDS patients or organ
transplant receivers that are on immunosupresive drugs C. albicans infections are
very prominent. A common symptom among AIDS patients is oral thrush, where there
is a huge over population of C. albicans on the back of the hosts tongue, it appears as
white speckles.
When C. albicans becomes pathogenic, or switches it s phenotype to the hyphal form
to invade the host cell epithelium, be it the mouth or the gut or the vagina; these
infections are superficial and can usually be treated with common anti fungal agents
like fluconazole, diflucan, azole related anti fungal drugs, amphotericin B, fungizone
( I think this is the same as amphotericin B). However in severely
immunocompromised individuals like transplant patients or AIDS patients C.
albicans can become systemic. That is the fungus will travel through the blood
stream and infect any major organ it can. When C. albicans has become systemic it
is almost always fatal because of the similarity between the host cells and the fungus,
and the lack of a reliable anti fungal drug.
Common symptoms of an oral C. albicans infection include burning pain,
Skittles Marketing Plan
Skittles is a well known, long standing brand that has pleased consumers for
generations. However, it is our contention that the name s growth is stagnating, and
needs to be revitalized based upon a core marketing goal: bring Skittles from simply a
candy something one consumes on a whim and forgets about to a brand that
engenders both value and feeling for consumers. With such a focus, the objective is to
influence the seemingly minor consumer choice between confections in vending
machines and on store shelves by linking a positive and pleasing emotion to the
image of the brand. The intention is to achieve realistic, long term financial goals,
which will be controlled through measuring actual results against initial projections.

Further research on candy sales has yielded an adjusted 50 70% industry average
range for retail profit margins, suggesting a manufacturer to distributor price of
$0.18 to $0.30 per bag.3 The secret to profit is to make use of an intensive
distribution, wherein Skittles are available in every store and vending machine
possible. Since this is already the case, the only new distribution concerns that enter
the marketing plan consist of seasonal products and Skittles vodka. Seasonal Skittles
will be circulated through stores, as interchanging products in vending machines is
significantly more difficult. However, Absolut Rainbow will rely on Absolut Vodka s
distribution network after product development. Distribution
Distribution for the brand is already exceptional; it is rare to see a vending machine
or candy display without at least one variety of Skittles. The current method of
distributing the product is a mixture of pull and push strategies. Retailers of candy
demand Skittles because they know that consumers will purchase them often enough
to move product and produce profit, while Wrigley actively offers the product to said
retailers, using their already present pull force to facilitate even wider distribution.
The above analysis leads to the belief that changing the basic distribution strategy is
unwise, yet

province of Luzon with artillery and aerial bombing, this forced General King to
retreat with his 72,000 troops of American and Filipino Soldiers into the mountains of
the province of Bataan. After a month of guerrilla warfare, due to lack of supplies and
ammunition, General Edward P. King signed a surrender document on April 9, 1942
ending the 3 months Bataan Battle. The Philippines during WW2 was an American
territory. General MacArthur was the commanding General responsible for the
American forces... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Japanese shot and killed the POW s who had Japanese memento on them.
Tortures were rampant in these shake down formations. The Japanese made the
POW s stand in the hot sun for hours at a time with no food or water. Anyone
caught disobeying the rules were severely beaten or killed on the spot. There was
no special treatment between Officers or Enlisted, Americans or Filipino troops;
they all suffered the same consequences. The Japanese believed that if a warrior
surrenders you are worthless and treated with no dignity. Japanese guards beat and
tortured the POW s at will with no consequence during search shakedowns, Japanese
Officers beheaded hundreds of U.S and Filipino POW for having Japanese items on
them; this was a common practice during the search
Benefits Of Lowering Voting Age
Lowering Voting Age Although, some believe the age of 18 should be the minimum
voting age, I would have to argue that the voting age should be lowered. I beleive the
percentage of participation would increase during electons, if voting age is lowered.
Our younger generation generates valuable opinions about presidental electionsand
should be alowed to vote at the age of 16. The United States would greatly benefit
from lowering the votingage. Lowering the voting age would definitely increase the
participation turnout in presidential electons. The age population between 16 and 18
are still enrolled in school, and have an active understanding of the presidental
electionfrom teachers, peers, and homework assignments.
Alexander The Great Greek Crusader
Alexander the Great embarked from Greece in 334 BC never to return to his
homeland. He established an empire which not only spanned Europe and Asia but
also united them. The extent to which Alexander s life agrees with the statement is
dependent on the definitions of a Greek Crusader and Persian King . The Greeks
(except Sparta) had abolished their kingdoms and replaced them with the
democratic city states. Consequently, the concept of kings and what it meant to be
Greek had become estranged with the result that Alexander may not have been
able to embody this Greek culture as the King of Macedon. The definition of
Crusader poses an issue; in hindsight its medieval connotations do not appear to be
appropriate but the role Greek Crusader can be defined in this context as a pursuer
of vengeance against the Persian sacrilege or as an advocator of Greek culture and
religion through the use of force. The term Persian King could not only be
interpreted to resemble their style of rule but also their customs and the favouring of
the Asiatic peoples. The evolution of these roles in both the way they were viewed
and the way they developed is essential in understanding how accurate the statement
is. First of all, we must assess the extent to which Alexander was Greek. Alexander
could trace his ancestry through his mother to both Helen of Troy and Achilles,
relatives who would inspire his later actions. From a young age he was influenced by
Hellenic culture; under the reign
Antipredator Behavior Research
Selection would strongly favor prey that is able to identify predators and adjust
antipredator responses according to the level of danger a predator poses, since
responding to predators potentially involve costs (e.g. loss of time for foraging or
mating). When certain predators have been absent from a prey s habitat for an
extended period of time, antipredator behaviors that are very costly may be lost,
resulting in prey only responding to syntopic predators. Conversely, when
antipredator behaviors are not costly, prey may continue to exhibit responses
historically (over evolutionary time) associated with predators that are presently
rarely or never encountered.
Several studies have focused on anti snake behaviors across taxa (that are prey

  • 2. Vices In Canto 19 In the beginning of Canto 19, the Pilgrim has a dream of a siren who quickly becomes the center of his attention. He describes the siren as a female who is stuttering, cross eyed, has crooked on her feet and has stunted hands (p. 309, lines 7 9). This is a very strong image for the beginning of a Canto and it seems to state something about all the vices in general: vices cause a lack of effective speech, cannot see accurately, cannot move towards accurate goods and cannot perform good works. The one that really connects with all the vices is one cannot see good accurately. According to Aquinas, vices are inordinate desires for a good, because no one desires something evil, but rather something viewed as a good. Vices are a movement towards... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the end of Canto 19 (line 121 123), Pope Adrian the V talks about how avarice extinguishes a person s love for every good: Since avarice extinguished our love for every good, so that our power to act was lost, so injustice keeps us fixed here (p. 315). This statement briefly summarizes why avarice can be so dangerous because avarice decreases someone s love for an actual good. Being able to determine between a fake good and an actual good can be almost non existent, when it comes to the vice of avarice. In question 118 by Aquinas, he discusses covetousness and states that it signifies an immoderation for external things. In this sense, covetousness can be seen as a part of avarice. There are multiple references in these Cantos to the daughter vices of covetousness: restlesness, violence and fraud. A main example of all three is in Canto 20 (p. 329), when Hugh Capet talks about his desire for power: There with force and fraud it began its plundering, and then, to make amends, it took Ponthieu and Normandy and Gascony (lines 64 66). This inordinate desire for external goods can lead to completely cut one off from God and from charity because an avaricious person only desires to keep attaining more external goods, and when a good is reached, it is not good
  • 3. How Climate Change Is Happening All Over And It Has... Mersadies Butcher Climate Change Paper Dr. Sian Ritchie Opening Sentence: Climate Change is happening all over and it has extreme consequences. Governor Inslee s plan is heading in the right direction to solve these problems. To help reduce these consequences we need to find alternative cleaner resources to use. Section 1: How climate works Climate change has many factors; albedo is one of many. Albedo is where the snow and ice reflect sunlight back into space. But as the Earth s temperature continues to rise the snow and ice are beginning to melt causing the ground and water to absorb the sunlight heating things up. With the carbon dioxide levels rising throughout the years the ocean absorbed 30% of it, creating acidification, which is killing coral reefs. As this occurs it is destroying the shelter for many types of fish. With the coral reefs dying the fish population is decreasing significantly this is a major problem for the areas of the world were catching fish to feed their families is all they have as a food source. (Hewitt et al., 343 351) The conveyor belt is being affected as well, due to the rise of carbon dioxide levels. As the snow and ice melt the large amount of fresh water runs into the ocean making it less salty. When the water becomes less salty it turns out to be less dense and not able to sink like it should to keep the conveyor belt going, which keeps Europe from freezing. The level of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases have increased by
  • 4. The Hobbit Movie Vs Book One Dwarf. Two Dwarf.Three Dwarf. Beorn! ВЁThe HobbitВЁ written by J.R.R Tolkien, movie directed by Peter Jackson is a tale that tells of a party who longs to reclaim their long forgotten gold, and how characters develop throughout the story. This storyline is of twelve dwarves, a wizard, and one hobbit going on an adventure. An adventure of a mountain full of treasure and frightening beings. When Beorn, (someone who helps the dwarves survive during the quest) is first introduced, he is introduced as a man in the book and is, really important ,but in the movie he is introduced as a creature that takes the form of a bear. The changes that director Peter Jackson made are effective because, it will interest the viewer more so than the book ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tolkien s intent on including Beorn in the book is to allow the dwarves to be in a situation of which they can not decide their own fate; that it is up to Beorn to help them or not to help them. Beorn is portrayed as the antagonist in this particular scene in the movie because of the frightening music and the dull, dark lighting ,and the way his character looks. Jackson did this to, in a way, trick the viewers. In order to have this done he had to make Beorn act and look unpredictable. This was to create suspense about the film. Overall, he he had to look scarey but then reasonable. Those who disagree believe that the book was better: for some yes. It is better because they have a vivid imagination. It allows people to have the opportunity to try reading for once and experience that same feeling readers get with noses in boo In conclusion, the novel and movie are about greed in the world, how people take things for granted, and how a destitute people reclaim their home. The movie is better because there is more action and unimaginative people can still experience the same excitement of the tale just like the imaginative people who read the book do. The author uses these themes throughout the story line. However, the exciting action scenes and the dramatic music in the background allows viewers to feel the emotions of the movie and its
  • 5. Roman Art Influence On Greek Art Throughout art history, artists have shown not only their cultural beliefs, but they have also shown their religious perspectives as well. Artists have shown images of deities through sculptures, paintings, and even buildings. An example representing a deity would be the bronzed sculpture Zeus or Poseidon from 460 450 BCE. Different from Egyptian religions, Greek gods were always created in a human form due to the fact that they felt higher and much more greater to followers of religions that worshipped animals or mountains. Greek gods were responsible for many parts of the natural world and human life, for example, love, warfare, and the seasons. The first images were very firm, portrayed no movement, and were very straightforward, but later in time these images shaped the human body with much detail and precision, as we see with Zeusor Poseidon, as well as showing movement. Zeus was the leader among the Greek gods and is shown with an ideal and godlike body. Due to his right hand appearing as if he is holding an object, it is said that he could be holding a thunderbolt, representing Zeus or the Godof sky and thunder, or possibly a trident, representing Poseidon or the God of Sea. His stance is slightly back, representing movement or action, and he appears... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, the Mesoamerican cultures linked the gods with corn and water, which were very essential and symbolically stood for food. For example, let us take a look at the maize goddess named Xilonen. Similar to Zeus or Poseidon, Xilonen was created human like and had many ornaments placed on her. As we can see, she has a headband that has dangling ornaments as well as ears of corn. She also has a collar with sunrays and a jade necklace that symbolizes crop abundance. All of her ornaments establish her divinity and the power she holds towards the growth of

The high concentration of universities in the province, the tradition and esteem of the high school programs, and the continued support from a large and knowledgeable basketball community have made the game a staple of NovaScotia life, culminating with the capital city of Halifaxbecoming known as the basketball capital of Canada. When you talk about basketball in the Maritimes you can break it down into different levels of competition. Another sign of the game s popularity was the fact that it was being played in the summer time. After watching rare broadcasts of NBA playoffs, in which one of the halftime events was pitting the greatest players in the game one on one, this format was adopted in Halifax and tournaments were held with the winner gaining bragging rights throughout the city. The Axemen remained highly competitive and won the nationals in 1971 and 1977. Willem Van Aelst After reading my peers interpretation of the still life by Willem Van Aelst, I came to the decision that most of the student s responses weren t what the artist envisioned the viewer s to see. We all acknowledged similar features, but we were all shown how incorrect we were in Thursday s class discussion. Each of us observed similar aspects in the painting. The central features that were pointed out were the objects of the blue, velvet bag, the ivory horn, and the various birds. The blue bag was where I concentrated on when I observed the painting as a whole. I feel that its color really stood out compared to the rest of the painting. The carving then became apparent as I focused intensively towards the outer regions of the painting. It represented three naked women, viewed from behind, in the outside world. In between the straps, of the hunting bag, lies a tree which contributes to the wilderness scene. This then poses the questions as to who are these women and why are they here? In class, it was then added that the woman looked like Greek women based off of the common known statues of Greek individuals. That being suggested, the class then made the assumption that the women in the carving of the marble table could be Artemis, the goddess of the wilderness and hunt. This is very likely as Artemis pertains to the entire scene being portrayed: the aftermath of a hunt. Another way that the carving can be tied to Artemis, is through the story of Artemis and Acateon. In this myth, Acateon is a hunter and is wandering in to the forest when he sees Artemis bathing. In retaliation, she transforms Acateon into a deer and his hunting dogs rip him apart. This painting would be an accurate display to have in a house where someone hunts. For the piece represents the activity that whomever loves to do so

In the play Othello, by William Shakespeare, it is made clear that honesty goes hand in hand with deceit and gullibility, which ultimately leads to the demise of many. By winning over someone s trust, it is easy to fully take advantage of them and deceive them into believing the lies that are being fed to them. This is seen quite frequently through Iago, as his character develops throughout the play. This poses the very intriguing question: Is honesty deceit? In an article by Paul A. Iago utterly destroys Desdemona, Roderigo, Cassio, Emilia, and Othello, all due to a fit of rage caused by a lack of a promotion. He is portrayed throughout the play as honest Iago , yet we, as the audience, see another side of him all together. The Church Of Worship Associated With Their Religion For the many people who choose to follow a religion, the place of worship associated with their religion often serves as the center of their religious experience. For followers of Christianity, this significant place is a church. By attending church services weekly, or sometimes even daily, more common among extremely devoted members, people give meaning to the church itself. Without the church community, meaning the people who belong to the church, the church could be just any another brick building at the end of the street. This is not the case, however, as active church members, and even just visitors, like myself, each instill their own meaning into the church, and the sum of all of these individual experiences is what makes the church so meaningful. Before this past weekend, I had only ever been to churches for weddings and funerals. I did not grow up in a religious family, so the concept of going to church was never prominent in my mind, nor a part of my life. She talks about how because we have an African Americanpresident does not mean that this country has defeated the concept of race. Race is now currently a fact whether we like to admit it or not. She feels that the new Jim Crow system is still in effect even if there are African Americans that are exceptions to the rules. Just like the original Jim Crow was used to control the advancement of blacks and used as a system of legal discrimination, the new Jim Crow uses those exact same concepts and just change the words we use. A prison is nothing but a plantation and a criminal is now the slave. The Reagan era game a race to the titles criminal and drug dealers. Mass incarceration is now just a combination of the previous caste systems Alexander mentioned in the book. The slave system and the Jim Crow system are combined now and have become legal through prisons. I agree with the point of Mass Incarceration is set up to legally set a population to the side and not include them into the global economy and even when they get released the chances of them joining moving high up in the global economy is slim

Also, it was to determine what equipment would be best to use to measure volume precisely and accurately. Densities of a series of known salt solutions were trialed three times and then averaged. By following the procedures, the unknown salt solution was determined and graphed to calculate the percent salt to the sample. Introduction In chemistry there are often times an unknown solution s density must be determined by using the known solutions. There are a variety of modern ways that chemist use to determine an unknown, but the simplest method to find the identity is by using a common equation: p=M/V P is the density, M is the mass, and V is the volume. Once the densities of the compounds are known, the density of the unknown solution can be compared to the four known solutions. When being compared the solutions can be graphed by plotting density against the percentages of NaCl. Once graphed there will be an evident straight line graph. Experimental General Methods and Materials. Wal Mart has a unique enterprise risk management (ERM) plan that was developed internally in the 1990 s that includes five steps. These five steps are (Atkinson, 2005): Step One Risk Identification Step Two Risk Mitigation Step Three Action Planning Step Four Performance Metrics Step Five Shareholder Value/Return on Investment The first step is to identify the risk. In some cases this can be a difficult task; especially when the risk stems from the external environment. There are many tools that can help organizations to help identify potential risks. Once the risk is identified then the next step that Wal Mart uses is to try to determine possible courses that would allow them to mitigate the risk. Not all risks are easy to mitigate. For example, external risks such as a recession might be difficult to mitigate for nearly any organization. Once the possible risk mitigations strategies are compiled then the next step is to create an action plan in which puts into action the different mitigation strategies. The next step is to determine if the plan worked or not. Thus performance metrics have to be constructed to determine the effectiveness of the action plan. Finally, the last step that Wal Mart conducts is to use the financial tools to determine how it will affect the shareholders. Discuss how your organisation evaluates projects

To begin the play, a young man named Walter is presented as an individual who is selfish and only wishes for his own personal gains. As his struggles are expressed through his word choice, tone, and actions, it can be seen that Walter Younger is a man who only thinks about what he wants, even if it will hurt his family. Macbeth is nervous and becomes frightened of what they have done while his wife tells him to change because they have blood on their clothes. This shows that Macbeth still has some morals, which are being lessened as his greed increases and there is more blood on his hands. Once Macbeth is crowned king he continues to kill people in order to secure his rule, including his friend Banquo, Lady Macduff, and Lady Macduff s children. Macbeth visited the three witches again to listen to more prophecy about him and an apparition appeared telling him no one given birth to by a woman shall harm Macbeth (Act 4 Scene 1). By hearing this, Macbeth believed he was virtually invincible, but in the end Macduff revealed he was brought into the world by caesarean section, not by a natural birth. Macbeth realizes that Macduff would be the one to kill him in the battle between Malcolm and he. Macbeth had entered a cycle of greed, leading to spilling blood, which in turn made him think he had secured his power. This terrible cycle was ultimately the reason for his demise because he couldn t control his greed and killed more and more people to remain the king of Scotland. The bourgeoisie, had a better social status, however they claimed for greater political participation and more economic freedom in their work, since everything was ruled by the absolutist government. Due this oppressive situation in France, and the visit of French intellectuals to the English Parliament, the Old Regime began to be criticized, and intellectuals concluded that the present government in France was unfair, and that the population was oppressed and unhappy. The traditional order should be overturned, in the name of freedom. A proposal for a new society was created; the government would only be fair when guaranteeing the freedom and equality of all before the law. Thus, the Universal Law of legal equality was developed, and still prevails to this day: all men are created equal. In the economy physiocracy (power of nature) was expected to occur, it should work naturally, that is no barriers for business; the state should not meddle in the economy (with rules, monopolies, and others). For the enlightenment intellectuals no society should be obliged to accept the tyranny. • 31. Catapult Impact On Society Another interesting effect of the catapult was the importance of specialized people. Before the catapult was invented, soldiers only had to be trained in fighting. After the invention however, mathematical and engineering skills became important to be able to build and operate a catapult. The catapult moved the social status of an engineer from dirty, ugly, and lame, to an important member of society who was in high demand (Foley and Soedel 8). The creation of the engineer also changed the structure of labor and how innoventions were developed. Catapults represent some of the first examples of modern engineering. Dionysius, ruler of Syracuse, was the first to create these devices, and created them by using modern engineering practices. These included using large specialized teams, splitting work to be done into feasible sizes, and giving financial compensation (1). All this change in status and importance of the engineer brought down likeness in Greek society. This shows there is a change the treaty does not even have any connection to the war being discussed. Also, Wheeler says, Polybius account of the alleged treaty in comparison to Strabo s is vague and practically useless, except for its role in leading scholars to posit a common source for the two accounts (161). Now, as this module comes to a close, I realize that I have learned so much! While writing this summary paper, I intend to discuss my understanding of the historical Jesus, Jesus as the Messiah, and Jesus as the Personal Savior. This confirmed Gabriel s prophecy that John would have the Holy Spirit even before birth (New Advent, 2006) Joseph considered calling off the marriage after learning that Mary had conceived. Joseph took Mary to Bethlehem to register for a census. While there, Mary gave birth to Jesus. She laid him in a manger because there was no room at the inn. Shepards visited Jesus there. Later, wise men brought gifts to Jesus. They told Herod the Great, a wicked king, that Jesus would rule Israel. Herod sent soldiers to kill the children in Bethlehem. Warned by an angel, Joseph took his family to Egypt. After Herod died, they returned to Israel and raised Jesus in a town called Nazareth. Jesus grew up in Nazareth. The Bible gives us a little information about his childhood. Jesus was taken to Jerusalem for Passover when he was twelve. He spoke with the teachers at the Temple, who were amazed at his understanding (Life of Christ, 2006). Joseph was a carpenter, and taught Jesus the trade. Jesus worked as a carpenter until his ministry began. He was about thirty years old at the time. Jesus taught people how to live godly lives. This means that that C. albicans has to different phenotypic forms, an oval shaped yeast form and a branching hyphal form. C. albicans normal habitat is the mucosal membranes of humans and various other mammals including the mouth, gut, vagina, and sometimes the skin. Normally C. albicans causes no damage and lives symbiotically with the human or animal host, even helping to breakdown minute amounts of fiber that are eaten in the host s diet. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... albicans can gain an advantage over the normal bacterial flora. Two common substances are steroids and birth control pills. These both act to alter the host s body chemistry in a way that is favorable to the over growth of C. albicans. If the host is immunocompromised to begin with as in the case of AIDS patients or organ transplant receivers that are on immunosupresive drugs C. albicans infections are very prominent. A common symptom among AIDS patients is oral thrush, where there is a huge over population of C. albicans on the back of the hosts tongue, it appears as white speckles. When C. albicans becomes pathogenic, or switches it s phenotype to the hyphal form to invade the host cell epithelium, be it the mouth or the gut or the vagina; these infections are superficial and can usually be treated with common anti fungal agents like fluconazole, diflucan, azole related anti fungal drugs, amphotericin B, fungizone ( I think this is the same as amphotericin B). However in severely immunocompromised individuals like transplant patients or AIDS patients C. albicans can become systemic. That is the fungus will travel through the blood stream and infect any major organ it can. When C. albicans has become systemic it is almost always fatal because of the similarity between the host cells and the fungus, and the lack of a reliable anti fungal drug. Common symptoms of an oral C. albicans infection include burning pain,

However, it is our contention that the name s growth is stagnating, and needs to be revitalized based upon a core marketing goal: bring Skittles from simply a candy something one consumes on a whim and forgets about to a brand that engenders both value and feeling for consumers. With such a focus, the objective is to influence the seemingly minor consumer choice between confections in vending machines and on store shelves by linking a positive and pleasing emotion to the image of the brand. Further research on candy sales has yielded an adjusted 50 70% industry average range for retail profit margins, suggesting a manufacturer to distributor price of $0.18 to $0.30 per bag.3 The secret to profit is to make use of an intensive distribution, wherein Skittles are available in every store and vending machine possible. Since this is already the case, the only new distribution concerns that enter the marketing plan consist of seasonal products and Skittles vodka. Seasonal Skittles will be circulated through stores, as interchanging products in vending machines is significantly more difficult. However, Absolut Rainbow will rely on Absolut Vodka s distribution network after product development. Distribution Distribution for the brand is already exceptional; it is rare to see a vending machine or candy display without at least one variety of Skittles. The current method of distributing the product is a mixture of pull and push strategies. Retailers of candy demand Skittles because they know that consumers will purchase them often enough to move product and produce profit, while Wrigley actively offers the product to said retailers, using their already present pull force to facilitate even wider distribution. The above analysis leads to the belief that changing the basic distribution strategy is unwise, yet

He established an empire which not only spanned Europe and Asia but also united them. The extent to which Alexander s life agrees with the statement is dependent on the definitions of a Greek Crusader and Persian King . The Greeks (except Sparta) had abolished their kingdoms and replaced them with the democratic city states. Consequently, the concept of kings and what it meant to be Greek had become estranged with the result that Alexander may not have been able to embody this Greek culture as the King of Macedon. The definition of Crusader poses an issue; in hindsight its medieval connotations do not appear to be appropriate but the role Greek Crusader can be defined in this context as a pursuer of vengeance against the Persian sacrilege or as an advocator of Greek culture and religion through the use of force. The term Persian King could not only be interpreted to resemble their style of rule but also their customs and the favouring of the Asiatic peoples. The evolution of these roles in both the way they were viewed and the way they developed is essential in understanding how accurate the statement is. First of all, we must assess the extent to which Alexander was Greek. Alexander could trace his ancestry through his mother to both Helen of Troy and Achilles, relatives who would inspire his later actions. From a young age he was influenced by Hellenic culture; under the reign
