Sports Employee Retention
Volunteers are unpaid, free participation in the organisation in order to gain benefit to others,
environment and their self. (Hoye, 2008) Volunteers are the important and valuable part in many
aspects of the society. (Bang Ross, 2009) In addition, volunteers are an initial part of sports service
delivery and sports event management. (Giannoulakis et al., 2007) Cnaan Goldberg Glen (1991,
p.270) noted that volunteers enable administrators to sustain current services and expand both the
quantity and diversity of services without exhausting the agency s budget. In order to make the event
be successful, volunteers are the indispensable part of the event.
As Cuskelly et al. (2006) stated that between 8.2% and 10% of Australians and about 15% of the
English population are participating in sports volunteers. In regard to volunteered time per year,
Australians contributed 98 per volunteer per year as well as English volunteers are 208. (Cuskelly et
al. 2006) Therefore, sports organization and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, it will lead to the high cost of recruitment and training (Pauline, 2011) so that
understanding of how to retention of sports volunteers is very crucial to sports organisers and
organisations. In terms of retention of sports volunteers, three elements were identified such as
motives, meaningful work and satisfaction. (Hoye, 2008) Many researchers have been investigated the
relationship between motivation, satisfaction and retention in other countries but a little research about
this in Hong Kong. Furthermore, this type of research in other countries may not apply in the situation
of Hong Kong because of culture difference. As Hofstede (1994) indicated that Masculinity is high in
Australia as well as Hong Kong in a middle position. This difference may result in the different
motivation of sports

Differences Between The Governmental Accounting Standard...
Comparing and Contrasting The Difference Between GASB and FASB By: Chris Lawson Keiser
University For as long as human interactions have allowed the exchange of value between goods or
services, accountancy has been the language of which business transactions are speaking (Salem,
2013). Accounting keeps track of and explains how money is used by non profit organizations, for
profit businesses, governments and other individuals. Sounds simple enough right? Well, in all reality
it is not that simple. Nowadays, there are many different forms of accounting let alone different set of
standards that certain, and sometimes all, organizations must follow. Today there are two main
standard setters in the United States that is responsible for providing up to date standards for its
corresponding organizations. Although these two standards are very similar in nature, they are also
very different when it comes to their own individual reporting requirements. Throughout the rest of
this paper I will not only compare and contrast the differences between the Governmental Accounting
Standard Board (GASB) and the Financial Accounting Standard Board (FASB), but also how they
differ when it comes to their reporting requirements. To get a better understanding of who these
standard setters are, let s go over a brief history and background of these two accounting standard
boards. The first standard board to be discussed is FASB. FASB was created in 1973, after the

Nathan Schwartz-Salant s The Borderline Personality-Vision...
Nathan Schwartz Salant wrote a book called, The Borderline Personality Vision and Healing, which
suggested spirituality may be the key to resolving borderline personality disorder. In his work, he
stated that some people with BPD might become deeply religious because of their lack of identity and
those who were religious might remember the prospective of healing to the relation of archetypal self.
For example, the Christian holy book, the Bible, in Hosea 2:1 13 states, ...clearly identify sinful
behaviors and describe the associated consequences of such behavior (Roberts 2013). This quote
shows that, in the Christian bible, they have a certain method on how to deal with BPD, which is to be
honest with people about the consequences of their

Atonement Literary Techniques Essay
In order to explore the fundamental themes of Atonement, Ian McEwan employs a plethora of literary
techniques. For instance, the concepts of children impersonating adults, the author as a god, the
corruption inside marriage and war, and misinterpretation of adult ideas, are scrutinised by McEwan.
McEwan dissects how people undertake roles unsuitable for their position in society through the
employment of literary techniques. After Lola s first encounter with her rapist Marshall, she is
described as wearing a blue satin sheath dress , something much more mature than the expected garb
of an adolescent. This dress is juxtaposed against Lola s childish features, such as her loose hair and
bare [feet] , generating pathos for Lola, as she attempts to comprehend her traumatic encounter
through sartorial precocity. In the same scene, 13 year old Briony labels the twins little kids ,
consolidating Lola s troubling position of maturity. In addition, McEwan utilises imagery to portray
Briony s attempt to act as both an adult and God after interrupting Cecilia and Robbie s lovemaking.
In order to simultaneously cast herself as the hero and Robbie as the villain, Briony describes Robbie
as huge and wild , as if he were a beast who had trapped Cecilia. In contrast to the imagery of Robbie,
Briony details herself as Cecilia s protector , an intruder to Robbie s malicious activity. By
misinterpreting the scene through the use of imagery, Briony imbues herself with

Baroque Movement And Religion
This article explores the production of religious images by the Baroque movement as a mass
production of icons and superimposing images. Although, this piece of work focuses mainly on this art
movement and is effects on Mexican culture, it also describes how the appropriation of certain
symbols can influence culture, religion, and politics of other societies.
The sculptures, paintings, and churches influenced by the Baroque period are described as symbols
that can evoke magic and transcendence which might corroborate to the perception that the Roman
Catholic Church used the Baroque glamour to appeal all the senses of the society in contact with it.
The holy objects used by the church were designed to be very functional and ornamental, in order to
impress and touch the feelings of its followers.
The author of this publication, Renee De La Torre, addresses with confidence how the aspects of
baroque art were used by the Catholic Church to create icons that could influence the spread of the
Catholic reformation. De La Torre has a Master s degree in Communication Studies from ITESO, a
PhD in Social Sciences, and is specialized in Social Anthropology.
Baroque is addressed objectively but also in a lot of detail in this reference entry. From the definition
to the different aspects of the movement in Europe, this encyclopedia brings the historical background
and general characteristics of baroque art that can be used as a foundation for arguments concerning
the influence of the

Psychology And Empathy
Introduction: Understanding the suffering of others and learning how to reduce others pain is a
fundamental aspect of human social interaction that has plagued many philosophers, artists, and
scientists. It is only recently that scientists have been capable of work with theoretical foundations and
provide insights for understanding cognitive and emotional processes influencing empathy, the ability
to share experience and emotional states with others.
Knowledge of empathic behavior is essential for an understanding of social and moral human
development and prior to the technological advancement, empathy was not understood biologically.
Our understanding of suffering and empathy is largely moderated by cultural environment. Culture

Mathur, Harda, Lipke, Chiao (2010) presented participants with pictures of people in emotionally
distressful situations (i.e. following a natural disaster) and a neutral situation (i.e. attending a picnic).

a Likert scale. All participants reported greater empathy for the individuals in the pain images
compared to neutral images. The researchers also found increased activation with the ACC and AI

images. Studies like these support the belief that perceiving either physical pain and/or emotional pain

IT projects can be many times a daunting task to both the contracted IT Company and the clients. With
some short deadlines, there is usually a small window of opportunity to present skills and produce
positive results. As a network administrator, the pressure to deliver top notch and a robust system is a
priority. U.S. industry Inc is just a young company that has both the quality and skills and knowledge

The more time can be a guarantee to quality, but the value of time lost is costly.
Quantitative risk assessment
it assesses the value in terms quantity lost in the contract within different periods of completion.
On time: completion of projects on time is set out in the contract. Time is saved, and value in terms of
money is saved. Six months are enough to complete the project at the said cost of $3 million dollars.
One month early: the quantity of time is greatly saved, and the cost is saved considerably. The teams
required to make deliveries within the alternating Mondays can maximize the number of hours worked
and maybe save.
Two months late: additional time comes with added cost and expenses in the contract. More than $3
million dollars will be used if the project is not done within the estimated period. U.S. industry Inc
will make losses of both time and money.
Security requirements
the security requirements of the US government are absolute and must be followed to the letter.
On time with required security: ensure that the project is within the US acceptable standards. The
contract is followed to the letter hence achieving quality, fair cost, timely completion and required
standards.
One month early with required security ensures that the record time is achieved, and cost is saved, and
the security requirements are in line with the FISMA regulations.

Kathryn Schulz s On Being Wrong
What does it feel like to be wrong? Some may answer this by saying that it can feel disappointing,
embarrassing, or humiliating. But these are answers to an entirely different question: What does it feel
like to realize you are wrong? When anybody comes to this realization, it can make him or her feel a
multitude of emotions: anger, discouragement, or even revelation. However, actually being wrong
feels exactly the same as being right. Wrongologist Kathryn Schulz addresses this phenomenon, how
it is dangerous, and how it can be fixed in her TED Talk titled On being wrong, as well as in her best
selling book Being Wrong: Adventures in the Margin of Error. Schulz makes an excellent rhetorically
effective argument on why humans should embrace their fallibility, as it makes each individual unique
and allows us to see the world in a variety of different aspects; ... Show more content on

In her argument, she examines what it means to be wrong and why it is okay. She explains that is
human nature to always want to be right because it makes us feel smart, responsible virtuous, safe.
However, people often assume that being wrong means that there is something wrong with them, so
they try their best to always be right. Schulz considers this to be a problem. She states that when
people stop entertaining the idea that they may be wrong, unfortunate events can occur. For example, a
woman went into Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, the teaching hospital for Harvard University,
to receive surgery on her leg. After the surgery had been performed, everything seemed to have gone
just as planned. But when the woman s anesthesia subsided and she looked down at her leg, she
realized that the surgeon had performed a major operation on the wrong leg. Nevertheless, Schulz
proposes that instead of insisting that we are perpetually right, we embrace our inaccuracy and learn

Summary Of Bernard Goldberg s Bias
Bernard Goldberg is a 72 year old American journalist, author, and political commentator. In the early
1970s, Goldberg worked as a producer and reporter for CBS news. In 2001, Goldberg released his first
book, Bias: A CBS Insider Exposes How the Media Distort the News, which became the number one
New York Times bestseller. In addition to Bias, he has also written four other books Arrogance, 100
People Who Are Screwing Up America, Crazies to the Left of Me, Wimps to the Right, and A
slobbering Love Affair. Goldberg s outstanding journalism has earned him the title as the winner of
fourteen Emmy Awards. Having served nearly thirty years at CBS News, Mr. Goldberg had earned a
reputation as one of the most original writers and thinkers in broadcast journalism. However, when he
observed his own industry, he realized the liberal media had completely missed their mission to give
honest news. After years of sharing his observations and promoting more balanced reportings,
Goldberg soon realized that no one listened because they believed they were doing the right thing. The
liberal bias continued, therefore Bernard Goldberg decided to take the situation into his own hands
and expose the distortion of the media himself. Goldberg s breathtaking and shocking best seller book,
Bias, reveals the close mindedness of the news culture and their mission to entertain rather than share
facts. In Bias: A CBS Insider Exposes How the Media Distort the News, Bernard Goldberg

The Goal By Eliyahu M
The Goal by Eliyahu M. Goldratt explains important concepts of operation and general management.
Although this novel is set in a manufacturing plant, the concepts and terms can be universally applied
to a variety of organizations. Through the story of Alex Rogo, readers learn how common
misconceptions about the operations of a business can be detrimental to the success of a firm;
conversely, Goldratt illustrates how alternative approaches can revive a plant and help to achieve its
ultimate goal. After Alex requests the help of Jonah in order to save his failing plaint, Jonah gives him
three measurements that are used to convey a manufacturing company s goal of making money. These
three measurements are throughput, inventory, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, the term is redefined as the rate of generating money from sales so that there is a direct
correlation between throughput and a company s goal; because selling a product generates money, the
amount a company can manufacture during a certain amount of time is essentially the rate in which a
company is able to start generating money through sales. Inventory is typically defined as stock that is
held for the purposes of meeting future demand. Goldratt transforms the definition to incorporate the
relationship between inventory and money. So, while traditional definitions classify inventory as stock
to be sold, Goldratt reclassifies it as the money spent to buy the things that will be eventually sold.
Operational expense is typically an expense that is incurred from regular business operations. The
book s definition is quite similar to the traditional definition in that both categorizes an operational
expense as money spent, but Goldratt further expands regular business operations as turning inventory
to throughput.
I find the book s definitions of throughput, inventory, and operational expense very useful. I feel that
businesses would be more successful in using these definitions as opposed to traditional definitions
because I believe that an established goal should dictate the company s operations, including the way a
company defines the terms related to

However, Mexico was not my country, it was always busy with people shouting and the school was
not helping either. The school was far from accepting, everyone knew each other since kindergarten

Definition Of Globalisation
The term globalisation describes the process of becoming worldwide in scope or application, and the
increasing interdependency of nation sates. At least that gives us one loose definition for globalisation,
but as Scholte (2000) realises, globalisation is a thoroughly contested subject, with arguments extend
across the issue of definition as well as measurement, chronology, explanation and normative
judgement. In fact, Scholte identifies five contrasting definitions for the word globalisation as used by
a number of the subject s commentators and critics internationalisation, liberalisation, universalisation,
western/modernisation and deterrioralisation are (2000: 13). In choosing a definition of globalisation,
one is also selecting how they wish to interpret it, and what points they wish to convey. For example,
the choice of western/modernisation leads to a view that globlisation sees the economically and
politically powerful west globalising the rest of the world, whilst universalisation leads to a more
neutral stance, taking it s root from the dictionary definition of the word gloalise , meaning to
universalise. To judge whether or not globalisation is a myth or fact therefore requires the full
understanding of what the term means to it s critics and advocates, and in which ways they belive it to
be myth of fact. Giddens simplifies the debate into two main schools the sceptics and the radicals. A
radical himself, he writes that According to the sceptics, all

The Cell Cycle, Genetic Variation, Mendelian Genetics, And...
Introduction: This essay will explore the cell cycle, cancer, cancer, mitosis and meioses, genetic
variation, Mendelian genetics, and complex genetic inheritance. Each area will be broken down in
further detail, and the result should demonstrate the knowledge learned on the subjects.
The Cell Cycle
The cell cycle is a series of stages that occurs when a new cells makes the division from the parent cell
to two daughter cells. This is a stage in cellular reproduction. The cell cycle consists of three phases,
interphase, mitosis, and cytokinesis. During Interphase, a cell will continue to perform its functions as
usual. The time frame for Interphase varies; while an embryonic cell will take just a few hours to
complete the cycle, a stem cell from an adult can take 24 hours (Mader, Windelspecht, 2015). After
the interphase stage completes itself, a complete nuclear division happens and mitosis occurs. During
the stage of mitosis, the daughter cells will receive the same amounts of the contents of the parent cell.
Throughout the last stage, in the cytoplasm there is a division known as Cytokinesis (Mader,
Windelspecht, 2015). Cytokinesis occurs differently in plant cells than it does in animal cells, as the
cell wall around the plant prevents the process from happening the same way. Instead, a new plasma
membrane and cell walls are built are built between the daughter cells. However, in animal cells a
single cell will become two (Mader, Windelspecht, 2015).

Antonio s life and consequently in the progression of his understanding. It was true states Antonio that
the owl was Ultima s spirit. It had come with Ultima, and as men brought evil to our hills the owl had
hovered over us, protecting us. (Anaya, 256).
Other animals play a magical part in Antonio s story. There is the golden carp, an enchanted fish that
Antonio sets out to find. He is inexplicably drawn toward finding the carp, and communing with it.
The golden carp is a representation of the pagan gods that the Catholic Church had set its edicts
against. This prohibition causes Antonio great consternation and internal debate. He wonders if his
desire to find the fish is a lessening of his worthiness in the eyes of the church and in the eyes of God.
None the less, he embarks on his quest. He takes a companion with him as his guide. This is an
effective metaphor for the internal struggle facing Antonio in his life at home. Will he embrace the
church and become the priest his mother wishes him to be, or will he instead become as his brothers
and father, a wandering, restless spirit? The carp appears and a discussion of its home and the
mermaids that share it ensues between Antonio and

Leadership As A Leader And A Manager Essay
Within a group, the member who fulfills the role of the leader will invariably have both a direct and
indirect effect on the group as a whole (Beattie, Girvan, Rayner, Rayner Bell, 2014). In the words of
John C. Maxwell: A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way. Throughout
history, there have been a countless number of people that are identified as leaders. An effective leader
will possess the desired characteristics and will be able to assess a variety of tasks. According to
Dereli (2003), there are a number of definitions of leadership, and the literature suggests that there is a
distinction between a leader and a manager. Winston and Patterson (2006) state that leadership is
defined as one or more individuals, who are able to select a variety of strategies, and influence
followers to work towards a common goal or objective. Darr s (2011) research distinguishes managers
and leaders based on the idea that managers take on the caretaker role, whereby maintaining the status
quo. This can be identified as a transactional leadership role (Darr, 2011). Odumeru and Ifeanyi (2013)
state that the transactional role requires the individual to supervise and organise group performance.
Darr (2011) also states that in comparison to a manager, leaders are seen to be more as visionaries and
much more dynamic. Many leaders are viewed differently, because they possess or demonstrate
transformational leadership qualities and characteristics . Yukl (1999)

Critical Elements Of Marketing Research
One of the critical elements of the marketing research is the test market. For the Ajax pot pie there
would be a combination of both quantitative and qualitative research done. This decision is based on
the fact the methods are most beneficial when used together. According to Essentials of Marketing
Research, qualitative research is research that addresses marketing objectives through techniques that
allow the researcher to provide elaborate interpretations of market phenomena without depending on
numerical measurement. The focus is on discovering true inner meaning and new insights.
Quantitative research is marketing research that addresses research objectives through empirical
assessments that involve numerical measurement and analysis. Because qualitative research is less
structured, I would use this research method first. We learned earlier that it was the president of the
company who came up with the idea of the pot pie. He wanted to increase the width of the product
line to include chicken pies in the grocery stores hot deli section (where the store s rotisserie chickens,
ribs, soup, etc. are sold). Because of this, there is an increasing concern that the research needs to be
transparent. An outside agency is an independent research firm that is contracted by the company that
will offer a fresh perspective and not be constrained by groupthink. Qualitative research already has an
element of subjectivity so it is important to have the research done by an

The Nature of Vocanic Hazards
The nature of volcanic hazards is often classified by the violence of the explosion and thus is assigned
a number from the Volcanic Explosivity Index (VEI), for instance Icelandic and Hawaiian volcanoes
which erupt basaltic lava which has a low silica content and a basic chemical composition; it reaches a
maximum temperature of 2000 degrees Celsius and thus has low viscosity. Due to this, gases are
easily released and so the eruptions are non explosive, with a VEI of 0 1 A prime example of this form
is the Eyjafjallajokull volcano in Iceland which erupted in 2010, where during the fissure phase less
vicious basaltic lava effusively erupted onto the surface and flowed west it was also olivine rich.
However the explosive phase had a VEI of 4, hence classified as a large, violent eruption.
On the contrary, Vesuvian and Krakatoan forms have moderate yet explosive eruptions, they erupt
andesitic lava which has high silica content and an acidic chemical composition; gases do not escape
easily thus it is viscous so they build up to produce explosive eruptions with lower temperatures (max.
1000 degrees Celsius). Rhyolitic lava is similar, although it has lower temperatures at around 750
degrees. An example of an andesitic lava eruption is Soufriere Hills in Montserrat which has been
actively erupting since 1997. The eruption in 1997 achieved a VEI of 3 (which is significant
particularly due to the VEI being a logarithmic scale). Thus based on the nature of volcanic event

Analysis Of The Poem The Raven
The Raven versus Ode to a Nightingale The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe is a story of a young adult who
has lost the woman he was in love with and is struggling cope. The story teller compulsorily builds
self destructive understanding of his mourning in a raven s constant Nevermore reminder to him, until
he eventually gives up about being reconnected with Lenore in the new world. On the other hand,
John Keats Ode to a Nightingale is another interesting poem set in London, which tells the story of a
nightingale that undergoes pain and suffering caused by a loss of human life but remains alive. Like in
the Raven the latter the poem demonstrates clearly that pleasure is temporary and that human beings
are mortal (Fogle 81). In the literary piece, Keats envisages the shortcomings of the physical
environment and considers his own life gone when the nightingale song sets in. As such, the poet
contrasts between the eternal nightingale and temporal life of human beings in an immensely
imaginative way that integrates the primary factors affecting life including weather and natural
aesthetics such as flower. Weather rejuvenates the power of the nightingales as evidenced in their
covering of the heath. Like the Raven, however, Ode to a nightingale shares the theme of human
mortality, spirituality and kindness, and isolation among the bereaved.
Form
Poe s The Raven is made up of eighteen six line verses with seamlessly emphatic rhythm and rhymes.

The Bacteria Escherichia Coli ( E. Coli )
Question 1
In the past scientist have used the bacteria Escherichia coli (E. coli) in Synthetic Biology to allow the
bacterial species to recognise and respond to light frequencies providing greater knowledge of
complex biological systems (Levskaya et al. 2005). E. coli is a suitable chassis to express Green
Fluorescent Protein (GFP) as the bacteria s plasmid helps to establish GFP (Chavshin et al. 2013). The
bacterial plasmid is a maltose binding protein that helps E. coli and GFP fuse together and allows for
detection of gene expression and controlling internal environments (Feilmeier et al. 2000). As GFP is
a useful biological indicator due to its fluorescent structure (Mazzola et al. 2005) and through the
ability of E. coli responding to light, GFP is easily expressed through the process of light stimulation
(Lee, J et al. 2013). Through the unique structure and functions found within E. coli, it allows for
successful expression of GFP making E. coli a suitable base organism.
Question 2
Jellyfish (Aequorea victoria) naturally produce GFP (Zupen et al. 2004) allowing for extraction of the
organisms genes and protein to engineer a bacteria that can produce GFP. Scientists are able to blind a
bacterial species for example E. coli with GFP by cloning the genes found within jellyfish that
produce Green Florescent Protein and insert it into a chosen bacterial species (Zupen et al. 2004).
Through the expression of the GFP gene in other organisms, synthetic biology can be

Common Misconceptions Of BDSM Practitioners
Health
Mental Health
One of the most common misconceptions about BDSM practitioners is that these individuals are
psychologically disturbed. Through symbolic interaction it can be understood that the general public
perceives BDSM practitioners as deviant and mentally ill. BDSM practitioners are portrayed to have a
lot of emotional baggage; therefore, to non practicing individuals, people who practice BDSM have
major psychological issues. Due to this misinformation, the general public has created a negative
image of the BDSM practitioners, and this image has lead the general public to fear BDSM. However,
it is important to note that BDSM is not rooted from abuse or domestic violence, nor does
participating in BDSM mean that one enjoys receiving abuse or abusing. According to Holt s (2015),
when it came to the question concerning the stereotype that BDSM practitioners had been abused in
the past, several did report history of abuse during childhood and young adulthood. However, Holt
(2015) noted that several participants expressed mixed emotions when asked about one s history of
abuse that ties with one s participation in BDSM. In contrary to common belief, people who practice
BDSM are as psychologically healthy as the general population. In a cross sectional study conducted
in the Netherlands, 902 individuals who practice BDSM were recruited, and compared to 434 control
participants who had absolutely no experience with BDSM (as cited in Lehmiller). The participants

The Pros And Cons Of Ineffective Methods
Can you imagine going through the juvenile court system at age 15? Today, when kids commit crimes
at a young age, they can be tried as an adult, and serve adult sentences that could put them in prison
for a large part of their life. As you continue to read, you will learn about the effective and ineffective
ways that the court deals with today s youth.
Ineffective Methods Some of the most ineffective ways to deal with today s youth are the scared
straight program, boot camp (shock incarceration), and group homes. Boot camp is a youth
correctional program, where they enforce strict rules and have harsh punishments. A boot camp s
ineffectiveness is shown where it says, States have begun to consider new approaches to juvenile
offenders, backed by research showing that incarceration actually increases the chances a young
person will commit another crime (Source 3,1). This quote shows that boot camp does not serve its
purpose. When a juvenile goes into boot camp, it is not only ineffective, but it actually increases the
chances that the juvenile will commit another crime. Another method that has proven to be ineffective
is scared straight. Scared straight is a program in which juveniles go into an adult prison to interact
with inmates. One of the people from the Spokane county juvenile court system said that if a good kid
does something bad, then scared straight actually makes it more likely that the kid will commit

The Naked Citadel By Susan Faludi
Masculine focused groups like fraternities or all male schools are built off the idea of brotherly love.
These groups exhibit certain qualities of personalities of their members that differ from the norm of
social interactions and love. A possible way of explaining the differences between the love people are
generally accustomed to and a love between males in the context of brotherhood groups is science.
Barbara Fredrickson, author of Love 2.0: How Our Supreme Emotion Affects Everything We Feel,
Think, Do and Become, describes love as a positivity resonance , using science to explain how it can
be thought of as a connection between individuals through small, positive interactions. Susan Faludi,
author of The Naked Citadel, illustrates a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fredrickson s entire basis for what love is, is that it is positivity resonance , and any sense of
negativity is not part of that definition. Fredrickson states, As you interact with one person after
another, they gently nudge you to attend to these others more closely and forge connections when
possible. They shape your motives and behaviors in subtle ways, yet ultimately, their actions serve to
strengthen your relationships and knit you in closer to the social fabric of life, (Fredrickson 110). The
usage of positive language like strengthen and knit, along with the idea of forging connections, is
indicative of what she is trying to say when it comes to what positivity resonance is, that the
interactions between individuals should have positive benefits that will make their lives better.
Fredrickson understands that love should be a valuable bond, shown both in her definition of love, and
how it s explained using science. However, the cadets in The Citadel do not seem to gain anything
valuable from their interactions, at least at first glance. Faludi uses the school to show how a rigid

Benefits Of A Child s Nutrition
Fruits and vegetables have a very essential role in our diet. Studies have shown the importance of
sufficient fruit and vegetable consumption in stopping chronic diseases like cardiovascular diseases,
cancers, diabetes and obesity. According to 2000 report, 2.7 million deaths and 1.8% all diseases
worldwide could be attributed to inadequate F V intake (Najimi, 2013). Starting to eat well when
young is important. Research has proven that interventions at a young age can impact good behavior
such as good nutritional habits that get carried on into adulthood. Furthermore, ages 7 to 12 is when a
child should get nutrients for growing. Therefore, the significance of a child s nutrition becomes more
of a need than ever (Najimi, 2013). Examples of the benefits of kids eating healthy when young are
good mental activities, prevention of problems and complications like anaemia, obesity, digestive
disorders, and tooth decay and chronic and dangerous diseases in the long term (Najimi, 2013).
Complicated health problems are determined by health behaviour theories, since it can impact factors

leader, Bella Abzug, wrote in her Contract with Women of the USA calling for among other things
economic, social and political equality for women. Other principals included affordable health care
and reproductive rights; ending discrimination against women and inclusion of women in the global
peace making process; protecting a health environment; more importantly, a long term plan to achieve
equality. (Contract with Women of the USA ) These founding principles are the basis of the feminist

Unfortunately, the landmark Roe decision is perilously close to being overturned by opponents and

Lansoprazole
Introduction
The stomach naturally produces acid, which is mainly responsible for food digestion and destruction
of any foreign pathogen or bacteria ingested with food. Acid is secreted by stimulating the partial cells
located in the inner lining of the stomach to release acid in response to a stimulant of food ingested,
sight of food, smell, or taste. This acid secretion renders the stomach pH to be very low, this strong
acid is an irritant to the stomach. In protection of the stomach, a mucus layer is present to shield the
lining of the stomach from damage caused by the acid. When this protective mucus layer is damaged,
ulcers are formed and even to the point of perforation of stomach (hole that causes a bleed in the
stomach).

This is based on case control studies mentioned in the article on long term use of PPIs. In other words,
patients who are chronically using PPIs must watch their intake of PPIs to prevent long term adverse
effects leading to osteoporosis causing bone fractures. The correlation was shown as a result of a high
variable effect of acid suppression on calcium absorption.
Researchers tried to investigate the difference between proton pump inhibitors and found consistent
common pharmacology between all drugs in this class4 (Omeprazole, Esosenoprazole, Lansoprazole,
Pantorapzole, and Rabeprazole) that were compared in this study. In this article relating to the clinical
and pharmacological basis stated that Lansoprazole is equipotent to Omeprazole as well as
Pantoprazole. This finding is still very consistent with previous articles supporting the similar
potencies and effectiveness of

The Cycle Of Socialization ( C.o )
1) Define describe the Cycle of Socialization (C.O.S), the Cycle of Liberation (C.O.L). Explain how
they relate to how Hip Hop has been shaped, giving two examples from either reading and/or in class.
The Cycle of Socialization is the cycle in which shapes who we are mentally, morally, and
characteristically. The first step in the COS, is the Lens of Identity. This is where the person is
socialized through their own personal lens, or they are taught on a personal level. Examples of this is
one s peers, teachers, or family. There is usually unquestionable trust in these people. The second step
is Institution Culture, where we are bombarded with subliminal messages by these two factors each
day. Institution, would be things such as School, a Business, or the Media (one of the largest in the
institution factor). Culture, would be things like what we have done in class, such as studying lyrics,
language, patterns of conscious and unconscious though. The last step, is the Lens of Experience. This
is one of the most important, because we have now become experienced in life, and know many things
that many may not ever know. With this though, we have two choices of what we can do. The first
choice, is to do nothing; we can remain stagnant, and go a long to get along because that is the easier
way to do things. Or, we can cause change, raise consciousness, and interrupt the stagnant problem
help with fixing it. When we do this though, it leads into the next cycle,

Machiavell s Representation Of The Servant In Shakespeare
Shakespeare and Machiavelli are presenting servants and their masters in their plays. Servant s duties
are not presented, but by examining their servitude, it is apparent where the servants are reliable and
where it is acceptable to fire the servant. These differences are very apparent and give a clear
representation of how servants should behave and their relationships to their masters In the Sonnet 57 ,
the servant gives his or her undying love and devotion and is unquestionably obsessed with his or hers
master. . In The Mandrake, Siro is displeased and worried about his master s actions but he is not
voicing his concerns and continues being loyal. While in Othello, Iago is not only displeased with the
lack of promotion, but he uses his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Iago s hate towards his master is so astounding, that he disregards that Othello is trusting and paying
him to be his personal servant. He disregards all motions of being a good servant and Must bring this

(Giannoulakis et al., 2007) Cnaan Goldberg Glen (1991, p.270) noted that volunteers enable administrators to sustain current services and expand both the quantity and diversity of services without exhausting the agency s budget. In order to make the event be successful, volunteers are the indispensable part of the event. As Cuskelly et al. • 3. Differences Between The Governmental Accounting Standard... Comparing and Contrasting The Difference Between GASB and FASB By: Chris Lawson Keiser University For as long as human interactions have allowed the exchange of value between goods or services, accountancy has been the language of which business transactions are speaking (Salem, 2013). Accounting keeps track of and explains how money is used by non profit organizations, for profit businesses, governments and other individuals. Sounds simple enough right? Well, in all reality it is not that simple. Nowadays, there are many different forms of accounting let alone different set of standards that certain, and sometimes all, organizations must follow. Today there are two main standard setters in the United States that is responsible for providing up to date standards for its corresponding organizations. Although these two standards are very similar in nature, they are also very different when it comes to their own individual reporting requirements. Throughout the rest of this paper I will not only compare and contrast the differences between the Governmental Accounting Standard Board (GASB) and the Financial Accounting Standard Board (FASB), but also how they differ when it comes to their reporting requirements. To get a better understanding of who these standard setters are, let s go over a brief history and background of these two accounting standard boards. The first standard board to be discussed is FASB. FASB was created in 1973, after the Accounting Principle Board ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nathan Schwartz Salant wrote a book called, The Borderline Personality Vision and Healing, which suggested spirituality may be the key to resolving borderline personality disorder. In his work, he stated that some people with BPD might become deeply religious because of their lack of identity and those who were religious might remember the prospective of healing to the relation of archetypal self. For example, the Christian holy book, the Bible, in Hosea 2:1 13 states, ...clearly identify sinful behaviors and describe the associated consequences of such behavior (Roberts 2013). • 5. Atonement Literary Techniques Essay In order to explore the fundamental themes of Atonement, Ian McEwan employs a plethora of literary techniques. For instance, the concepts of children impersonating adults, the author as a god, the corruption inside marriage and war, and misinterpretation of adult ideas, are scrutinised by McEwan. McEwan dissects how people undertake roles unsuitable for their position in society through the employment of literary techniques. After Lola s first encounter with her rapist Marshall, she is described as wearing a blue satin sheath dress , something much more mature than the expected garb of an adolescent. This dress is juxtaposed against Lola s childish features, such as her loose hair and bare [feet] , generating pathos for Lola, as she attempts to comprehend her traumatic encounter through sartorial precocity. In the same scene, 13 year old Briony labels the twins little kids , consolidating Lola s troubling position of maturity. In addition, McEwan utilises imagery to portray Briony s attempt to act as both an adult and God after interrupting Cecilia and Robbie s lovemaking. In order to simultaneously cast herself as the hero and Robbie as the villain, Briony describes Robbie as huge and wild , as if he were a beast who had trapped Cecilia. In contrast to the imagery of Robbie, Briony details herself as Cecilia s protector , an intruder to Robbie s malicious activity. By misinterpreting the scene through the use of imagery, Briony imbues herself with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although, this piece of work focuses mainly on this art movement and is effects on Mexican culture, it also describes how the appropriation of certain symbols can influence culture, religion, and politics of other societies. The sculptures, paintings, and churches influenced by the Baroque period are described as symbols that can evoke magic and transcendence which might corroborate to the perception that the Roman Catholic Church used the Baroque glamour to appeal all the senses of the society in contact with it. The holy objects used by the church were designed to be very functional and ornamental, in order to impress and touch the feelings of its followers. The author of this publication, Renee De La Torre, addresses with confidence how the aspects of baroque art were used by the Catholic Church to create icons that could influence the spread of the Catholic reformation. De La Torre has a Master s degree in Communication Studies from ITESO, a PhD in Social Sciences, and is specialized in Social Anthropology. But these are answers to an entirely different question: What does it feel like to realize you are wrong? When anybody comes to this realization, it can make him or her feel a multitude of emotions: anger, discouragement, or even revelation. However, actually being wrong feels exactly the same as being right. Wrongologist Kathryn Schulz addresses this phenomenon, how it is dangerous, and how it can be fixed in her TED Talk titled On being wrong, as well as in her best selling book Being Wrong: Adventures in the Margin of Error. Schulz makes an excellent rhetorically effective argument on why humans should embrace their fallibility, as it makes each individual unique and allows us to see the world in a variety of different aspects; ... She states that when people stop entertaining the idea that they may be wrong, unfortunate events can occur. After the surgery had been performed, everything seemed to have gone just as planned. Thus, the term is redefined as the rate of generating money from sales so that there is a direct correlation between throughput and a company s goal; because selling a product generates money, the amount a company can manufacture during a certain amount of time is essentially the rate in which a company is able to start generating money through sales. Inventory is typically defined as stock that is held for the purposes of meeting future demand. Goldratt transforms the definition to incorporate the relationship between inventory and money. So, while traditional definitions classify inventory as stock to be sold, Goldratt reclassifies it as the money spent to buy the things that will be eventually sold. Operational expense is typically an expense that is incurred from regular business operations. The book s definition is quite similar to the traditional definition in that both categorizes an operational expense as money spent, but Goldratt further expands regular business operations as turning inventory to throughput. I find the book s definitions of throughput, inventory, and operational expense very useful. At least that gives us one loose definition for globalisation, but as Scholte (2000) realises, globalisation is a thoroughly contested subject, with arguments extend across the issue of definition as well as measurement, chronology, explanation and normative judgement. In fact, Scholte identifies five contrasting definitions for the word globalisation as used by a number of the subject s commentators and critics internationalisation, liberalisation, universalisation, western/modernisation and deterrioralisation are (2000: 13). In choosing a definition of globalisation, one is also selecting how they wish to interpret it, and what points they wish to convey. For example, the choice of western/modernisation leads to a view that globlisation sees the economically and politically powerful west globalising the rest of the world, whilst universalisation leads to a more neutral stance, taking it s root from the dictionary definition of the word gloalise , meaning to universalise. To judge whether or not globalisation is a myth or fact therefore requires the full understanding of what the term means to it s critics and advocates, and in which ways they belive it to be myth of fact. Introduction: This essay will explore the cell cycle, cancer, cancer, mitosis and meioses, genetic variation, Mendelian genetics, and complex genetic inheritance. Each area will be broken down in further detail, and the result should demonstrate the knowledge learned on the subjects. The Cell Cycle The cell cycle is a series of stages that occurs when a new cells makes the division from the parent cell to two daughter cells. This is a stage in cellular reproduction. The cell cycle consists of three phases, interphase, mitosis, and cytokinesis. During Interphase, a cell will continue to perform its functions as usual. The time frame for Interphase varies; while an embryonic cell will take just a few hours to complete the cycle, a stem cell from an adult can take 24 hours (Mader, Windelspecht, 2015). After the interphase stage completes itself, a complete nuclear division happens and mitosis occurs. During the stage of mitosis, the daughter cells will receive the same amounts of the contents of the parent cell. Throughout the last stage, in the cytoplasm there is a division known as Cytokinesis (Mader, Windelspecht, 2015). Cytokinesis occurs differently in plant cells than it does in animal cells, as the cell wall around the plant prevents the process from happening the same way. Instead, a new plasma membrane and cell walls are built are built between the daughter cells. However, in animal cells a single cell will become two (Mader, Windelspecht, 2015). The Abnormal Cell ... • 24. Leadership As A Leader And A Manager Essay Within a group, the member who fulfills the role of the leader will invariably have both a direct and indirect effect on the group as a whole (Beattie, Girvan, Rayner, Rayner Bell, 2014). In the words of John C. Maxwell: A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way. Throughout history, there have been a countless number of people that are identified as leaders. An effective leader will possess the desired characteristics and will be able to assess a variety of tasks. According to Dereli (2003), there are a number of definitions of leadership, and the literature suggests that there is a distinction between a leader and a manager. Winston and Patterson (2006) state that leadership is defined as one or more individuals, who are able to select a variety of strategies, and influence followers to work towards a common goal or objective. Darr s (2011) research distinguishes managers and leaders based on the idea that managers take on the caretaker role, whereby maintaining the status quo. This can be identified as a transactional leadership role (Darr, 2011). Odumeru and Ifeanyi (2013) state that the transactional role requires the individual to supervise and organise group performance. Darr (2011) also states that in comparison to a manager, leaders are seen to be more as visionaries and much more dynamic. Many leaders are viewed differently, because they possess or demonstrate transformational leadership qualities and characteristics . Yukl (1999) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. Critical Elements Of Marketing Research One of the critical elements of the marketing research is the test market. For the Ajax pot pie there would be a combination of both quantitative and qualitative research done. This decision is based on the fact the methods are most beneficial when used together. According to Essentials of Marketing Research, qualitative research is research that addresses marketing objectives through techniques that allow the researcher to provide elaborate interpretations of market phenomena without depending on numerical measurement. The focus is on discovering true inner meaning and new insights. Quantitative research is marketing research that addresses research objectives through empirical assessments that involve numerical measurement and analysis. Because qualitative research is less structured, I would use this research method first. We learned earlier that it was the president of the company who came up with the idea of the pot pie. He wanted to increase the width of the product line to include chicken pies in the grocery stores hot deli section (where the store s rotisserie chickens, ribs, soup, etc. are sold). Because of this, there is an increasing concern that the research needs to be transparent. An outside agency is an independent research firm that is contracted by the company that will offer a fresh perspective and not be constrained by groupthink. Qualitative research already has an element of subjectivity so it is important to have the research done by an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. The Nature of Vocanic Hazards The nature of volcanic hazards is often classified by the violence of the explosion and thus is assigned a number from the Volcanic Explosivity Index (VEI), for instance Icelandic and Hawaiian volcanoes which erupt basaltic lava which has a low silica content and a basic chemical composition; it reaches a maximum temperature of 2000 degrees Celsius and thus has low viscosity. Due to this, gases are easily released and so the eruptions are non explosive, with a VEI of 0 1 A prime example of this form is the Eyjafjallajokull volcano in Iceland which erupted in 2010, where during the fissure phase less vicious basaltic lava effusively erupted onto the surface and flowed west it was also olivine rich. However the explosive phase had a VEI of 4, hence classified as a large, violent eruption. On the contrary, Vesuvian and Krakatoan forms have moderate yet explosive eruptions, they erupt andesitic lava which has high silica content and an acidic chemical composition; gases do not escape easily thus it is viscous so they build up to produce explosive eruptions with lower temperatures (max. 1000 degrees Celsius). Rhyolitic lava is similar, although it has lower temperatures at around 750 degrees. An example of an andesitic lava eruption is Soufriere Hills in Montserrat which has been actively erupting since 1997. The eruption in 1997 achieved a VEI of 3 (which is significant particularly due to the VEI being a logarithmic scale). Thus based on the nature of volcanic event ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The story teller compulsorily builds self destructive understanding of his mourning in a raven s constant Nevermore reminder to him, until he eventually gives up about being reconnected with Lenore in the new world. On the other hand, John Keats Ode to a Nightingale is another interesting poem set in London, which tells the story of a nightingale that undergoes pain and suffering caused by a loss of human life but remains alive. Like in the Raven the latter the poem demonstrates clearly that pleasure is temporary and that human beings are mortal (Fogle 81). In the literary piece, Keats envisages the shortcomings of the physical environment and considers his own life gone when the nightingale song sets in. As such, the poet contrasts between the eternal nightingale and temporal life of human beings in an immensely imaginative way that integrates the primary factors affecting life including weather and natural aesthetics such as flower. Weather rejuvenates the power of the nightingales as evidenced in their covering of the heath. Like the Raven, however, Ode to a nightingale shares the theme of human mortality, spirituality and kindness, and isolation among the bereaved. • 36. The Bacteria Escherichia Coli ( E. Coli ) Question 1 In the past scientist have used the bacteria Escherichia coli (E. coli) in Synthetic Biology to allow the bacterial species to recognise and respond to light frequencies providing greater knowledge of complex biological systems (Levskaya et al. 2005). E. coli is a suitable chassis to express Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) as the bacteria s plasmid helps to establish GFP (Chavshin et al. 2013). The bacterial plasmid is a maltose binding protein that helps E. coli and GFP fuse together and allows for detection of gene expression and controlling internal environments (Feilmeier et al. 2000). As GFP is a useful biological indicator due to its fluorescent structure (Mazzola et al. 2005) and through the ability of E. coli responding to light, GFP is easily expressed through the process of light stimulation (Lee, J et al. 2013). Through the unique structure and functions found within E. coli, it allows for successful expression of GFP making E. coli a suitable base organism. Question 2 Jellyfish (Aequorea victoria) naturally produce GFP (Zupen et al. 2004) allowing for extraction of the organisms genes and protein to engineer a bacteria that can produce GFP. Scientists are able to blind a bacterial species for example E. coli with GFP by cloning the genes found within jellyfish that produce Green Florescent Protein and insert it into a chosen bacterial species (Zupen et al. 2004). • 37. Common Misconceptions Of BDSM Practitioners Health Mental Health One of the most common misconceptions about BDSM practitioners is that these individuals are psychologically disturbed. Through symbolic interaction it can be understood that the general public perceives BDSM practitioners as deviant and mentally ill. BDSM practitioners are portrayed to have a lot of emotional baggage; therefore, to non practicing individuals, people who practice BDSM have major psychological issues. Due to this misinformation, the general public has created a negative image of the BDSM practitioners, and this image has lead the general public to fear BDSM. However, it is important to note that BDSM is not rooted from abuse or domestic violence, nor does participating in BDSM mean that one enjoys receiving abuse or abusing. According to Holt s (2015), when it came to the question concerning the stereotype that BDSM practitioners had been abused in the past, several did report history of abuse during childhood and young adulthood. However, Holt (2015) noted that several participants expressed mixed emotions when asked about one s history of abuse that ties with one s participation in BDSM. In contrary to common belief, people who practice BDSM are as psychologically healthy as the general population. In a cross sectional study conducted in the Netherlands, 902 individuals who practice BDSM were recruited, and compared to 434 control participants who had absolutely no experience with BDSM (as cited in Lehmiller). As you continue to read, you will learn about the effective and ineffective ways that the court deals with today s youth. Ineffective Methods Some of the most ineffective ways to deal with today s youth are the scared straight program, boot camp (shock incarceration), and group homes. A boot camp s ineffectiveness is shown where it says, States have begun to consider new approaches to juvenile offenders, backed by research showing that incarceration actually increases the chances a young person will commit another crime (Source 3,1). Barbara Fredrickson, author of Love 2.0: How Our Supreme Emotion Affects Everything We Feel, Think, Do and Become, describes love as a positivity resonance , using science to explain how it can be thought of as a connection between individuals through small, positive interactions. They shape your motives and behaviors in subtle ways, yet ultimately, their actions serve to strengthen your relationships and knit you in closer to the social fabric of life, (Fredrickson 110). The usage of positive language like strengthen and knit, along with the idea of forging connections, is indicative of what she is trying to say when it comes to what positivity resonance is, that the interactions between individuals should have positive benefits that will make their lives better.
