America and Israel Support Essay
America and Israel Support
From the creation of Israel in 1947 to present day, America has supported Israel. The
prime minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu said, The United States has given Israel,
apart from political and military support, munificent and magnificent assistance in the
economic sphere. With America s help, Israelhas grown to be a powerful, modern state.
America has help and turned Israel to a very powerful nation. The United States provides
3 billion dollars to the Israeli government each year. However the real number is about
4.3 billions dollars in total foreign aid and America in total has given Israel 140 billion
dollars 3 billion dollars of support equals to $500 per year for each individual Israeli.

The United States permitted Israel to have satellite images while the Yom Kippur War
and during the Entebbe hostage crisis.
America has been a great benefactor to the state of Israel. However, America should not
support Israel unconditionally because it generates deep hatred from Arabs and that the
government of Israel has shifted away form the democratic ideal and beliefs of America.
The unconditional support of America towards Israel has caused Arab terrorist groups to
hate and kill citizens of the United States. Also Israel s has turned away from a
democratic ideal that grants equal rights to all citizens.
Powerful and influential Arabs have a deep desire to kill and destroy America because
of the current unconditional support America gives to Israel. For example, Hezbollah,
a very capable terrorist group, hates America because of America s support to Israel. In
2002, Muhammed Husayn Fadlallah, a religious commander of the Hezbollah, said, I
believe that America bears responsibility for all of Israel... America is a hypocritical
nation... for it gives support and lethal weapons to the Israelis, but gives Arabs and
Palestinians words America gives Israel weapons for protection, but Israel uses these
weapons to kill thousands of innocent Arab women and children. This in return causes
Arabs to hate the

Since the 1980s, terrorist organizations have become users of biological agents.
Biological weapons include any organism or toxin found in nature that can be used to
incapacitate, kill, or otherwise impede an adversary. Biological weapons are
characterized by low visibility, high potency, substantial accessibility, and relatively
easy delivery. (Dire amp;Darling, 2011) Emergency response strategies for biological,
chemical, nuclear, or radiological terrorist events should be based on scientifically
established exposure limits for all the agents or materials involved. In the case of a
radiological terrorist event, emergency response guidelines have been worked out. In
the case of a terrorist event with the use of chemical warfare agents the situation is not
that clear, though the new guidelines and clean up values are being generated based on
re evaluation of toxicological and risk data. ( Sabelnikov, , Zhukov, , amp; Kempf,

Truman s Speech In The Truman Doctrine By Harry S.
Truman
Harry S. Truman was very much involved in war. He wanted to help join the fight and
even though his eyesight was poor, he still enlisted in the National Guard and in
World War I, he became and artillery commander. Throughout his life, Harry S.
Truman was always a go getter. He always wanted to help in wars and make sure
America came out on top. This go getter attitude he expressed is very plainly visible in
his speech: The Truman Doctrine . The purpose, tone, and subject of this speech all
points toward what President Truman wanted to do with Greece and Turkey. The
speaker, audience, and occasion also help Harry S. Trumanpush his ideas, but they do it
in a more subdued way. The Author s purpose in The Truman doctrine is to show America

The whole speech was his tone toward this subject because it was about how he
wanted to try and fix the problems in Greece and Turkey. It is necessary only to glance
at a map to realize that the survival and integrity of the Greek nation are of grave
importance in a much wider situation. If Greece should fall under the control of an
armed minority, the effect upon its neighbor, Turkey, would be immediate and serious.
Confusion and disorder might well spread throughout the entire Middle East. Moreover,
the disappearance of Greece as an independent state would have a profound effect upon
those countries in Europe whose peoples are struggling against great difficulties to
maintain their freedoms and their independence while they repair the damages of war.
Here President Truman was talking about what would have happened should America
have failed to help Greece and Turkey. The diction he used made each sentence even
more horrible and when combining all of those sentences together, you had a paragraph
that would have made people turn their heads. This is a serious course upon which we
embark. I would not recommend it except that the alternative is much more serious. The
United States contributed $341,000,000,000 toward winning World War II. This is an
investment in world freedom and world peace. The assistance that I am
recommending for Greece and Turkey amounts to little more than 1 tenth of 1 percent
of this investment. It is only common sense that we should safeguard this investment
and make sure that it was not in vain. The seeds of totalitarian regimes are nurtured by
misery and want. They spread and grow in the evil soil of poverty and strife. They
reach their full growth when the hope of a people for a better life has died. President
Truman tried to make his point clear in helping Greece and Turkey. He tried to defend
his points and make them just. From this paragraph alone, it is very distinct

Moreover, with fewer suppliers from which to choose and more nonprofits offering their

use of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastics, which may have negative effects on human
health. Yet some suppliers argue that the negative effects of PVC are unproven. They
also say that customers demand the strength and flexibility that only PVC can provide.
Wal Mart s job is to manage these tensions, weighing the demands of customers against
the concerns of network partners. To offer a profitable mix that includes more green

around corners and into the inaccessible places to allow the hidden to be lighted. But
now, infrared LED has evolved into a system of significantly greater importance and
use. Throughout the world, it is now being used to transmit voice, television and data
signals as light waves. Its advantages as compared with conventional coaxial cable or
twisted wire pairs are manifold. As a result, millions of dollars are being spent to put
these light wave communication systems into operation. One of the most interesting

Australian Contemporary Theatre Trail Australian Contemporary Theatre is a form of
Theatre which addresses the concerns and aspirations of Australian audiences; with the
use of diverse and complex characters Australian Contemporary Theatre is able to

by Michael Futcher and Helen Howard which we have studied throughout topics. The
Characters within Ruby Moon are all very different from each other while at the same

This is what the Darkness represents. It draws the audience s attention to how little we
know about the world around us and that these characters who the audience try to

many aspects of their personalities are confusing. Matt Cameron used this confusion to
make the audience understand that even these characters aren t what they seem.
Australian Contemporary theatre is a tool to address those thoughts which are a part of
Australian life. It plays on the fears and insecurities of the audience using characters
which people, although they may not wish to, find connections to. These characters

United States of America to create better lives for themselves such as escaping religious
/political persecution, obtaining a better education, reuniting with their families,
becoming exposed to more job opportunities, and various other reasons (Singer 2).
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in America and Sydney, New South Wales in Australiahave
similar immigration patterns, settlement trends, and impacts. However, the communities
of immigrants tend to not follow the same behaviors in both cities. Immigration is vital
for continuous economic and social growth. Thus, what impact does immigration have on
these two cities?
In 2011, Australia s population was 26% migrants compared to America s, which was
only 13% ( 4102.0 Australian Social Trends, 2014 ). Migration is essential to Australia s
population; in 2011, over 5 million migrants resided in Australia. Immigrants from
England (over 1 million) and New Zealand (almost half a million) dominate Australia s
migrant community. Australia s migrant population also includes large numbers of
Chinese, Indian, Italian, and Vietnamese immigrants among many others. On average,
most migrants stay in Australia for 20 years. Some migrants stay longer than others;
European immigrants stay for over the average amount of years meanwhile Chinese and

Reflection Of Journalism And Writing
I know that the Master of Science program at Columbia will fit my needs as a student
and as a budding professional. Journalism and writing have not been lifelong loves of
mine, and throughout high school I was a math and science student. I took an
introductory journalism course as a senior in high school, and I quickly learned that
journalismis more than writing about yourself and topics you like. Even with the light
requirements of the class, I got my first taste of the process of writing a story. When I
arrived to campus, I decided to apply to the journalism program in hopes of simply
becoming a better writer, regardless of what I would end up studying. Nearly three
years later, I am thankful that I decided to take the first steps toward becoming a better
writer. The undergraduate journalism classes I took piqued my interest in the field,
and the potential graduate courses at Columbia will culminate my learning experience.
As an undergraduate, I was particularly influenced by a class I took during the 2016
election. The class was described as a seminar discussion on recent election news, but it
turned out to be something entirely different. I soon found out that the class was going
to be responsible for creating and maintaining a new website similar to Politifact. Each
student was assigned a local or state senate race and a national race to follow and fact
check. This task, while interesting, seemed daunting at first. The local race seemed too

and introduced it which has now become universal in not only English, but in many
languages. In the 1980s symbolized the diversification of hip hop as the genre eve

that it encourages producers to recruit a diverse group of individuals. At first, Hip Hop
was predominantly performed by men and eventually evolved into being performed by
both men and women. Some examples of successful women in the Hip hop culture are

The Outsiders And The Outsiders Similarities
How can two people who are completely different share similarities? Dally and Johnny,
two greasers from S. E. Hinton s The Outsiders, have distinct differences as well as
similarities. They are similar because they both know what it is like to have abusive
and neglectful parents. Also, they both care about each other in similar ways. Dally and
Johnny are completely different when it comes to the law. Dally is the least law abiding
in the gang, where as Johnny is the most. Dally and Johnny are dissimilar as they die.
Dally dies a hoodlum, which is vast differencefrom how Johnny dies a hero. Therefor,
Dally and Johnny have a lot in common, but also have great differences. Dally and
Johnny are similar in a way of knowing what it is like to have abusive and neglectful
parents. Dally has no love coming from his home, which is why he does some reckless
things. The loveless life he has at home is cause of his inability to love others. His
parents do not interact with him and Dally states, my old man don t give a hang
whether I m in jail or dead in a car wreck or drunk in the gutter (88). Dally s parents do
not give him the attention he needs and they neglect him to a world where he has made
himself closed off and tough. Similarly to how Johnny faces abuse and neglect when it
comes to his parents. Like Dally, letting people in is hard for Johnny because of his
family. Johnny s home life is terrible and His father was always beating him up,

Famous musicians such as Dvorak and Smetana, and the country s long theatrical history

Czechs brought this mindset with them into Nebraskaand the Great Plains. Czech

Examples Of Hypocrisy In Esther
Courage, Irony Hypocrisy In the book of Esther, many of the characters shows how to
be courageous, ironic, and how to be a hypocrite. Approaching kings and going to
forbidden places shows courage. Being killed before wanting to be killed and there
being no honor where honor was thought to be shows ironcy. The king unaware of the
destruction he has allowed and denial to help are just few examples of hypocrisy. There
are many examples of these traits all throughout the book of Esther, many interesting
characters to fill the positions and many lessons to be learned. In the time of Estherit was
abnormal and sometimes forbidden for the kings ladies to approach him without
request by the king but in a time of desperation Esther showed courage by seeing the
king without request so they can speak about what Haman has done. If I have found
favor with the king, and if it pleases the king to grant my request and do what I ask,

Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Muslim Women
Howard Hassman (2011, 440) states that, While women, like men, have an interest in
enjoying an elemental capacity for self direction, the importance of this capacity is not
conceded by all cultures. It is important to note the significant influence culture has on
women s rights issues. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights(UDHR) raised a
variety of questions dealing with the inference of the term universal. It infers that the
declaration is meant to represent human rights in all countries, including those that are
non Western with highly complex cultures and societies. By creating this agreement and
applying it as universal it has the contradictory effect of undermining communities
autonomous rights to enjoy their own culture. Additionally, in looking at historic actions
of Western countries Anthropologists were concerned that the UDHR was a series of
attempts by the West to impose its values on other societies. This can very well be the
case because of the many debates that occurred surrounding women s rights and female
genital mutilation practices. Many criticized Western scholars claiming that they could
not legitimately criticize traditional practices that seemed to violate women s rights. The
context in which cultural practices are birthed are placed within the social construct of
the origin society. One cannot possibly understand the human rights implications of
another cultures if they don t understand the culture as a participant. Also, there
My Preschool Observation Report
My preschool observation took place at the Central Child Development Center, 414 E.
Black Street, Rock Hill, South Carolina. The Child Development Center is operated by
York County District Three within Rock Hill Schools. There are many different classes
that serve students ranging from general education to special education. During my
observationtime, I was assigned to two general education classrooms: Margret Joiner s
classroom (with assistant Ginger Adams) and Diane Alexander s classroom (with
assistant LaSalle Foster).
For the first half of my visit, I was with Mrs. Joyner s class. On the day I did my
observation, I counted 15 children, with a pretty equal number of boys to girls. Overall,
there seemed to be more African American... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The room and centers were incredibly organized and clean, which made for a stress free
environment for the children (the children seemed calm, and when it was time to clean
up, they knew exactly where everything went). For example, at one point during the
morning, some of the children wanted to play with play doh. They knew that in order to
play with the play doh, they had to ask a teacher. Not only does this fall under
wonderful organization skills, this also shows children understand what they need to do
in order to get something they may want. I observed no safety hazards within this
classroom, and again, I feel that if there were any safety hazards, they were put away
where the children couldn t access them.
In terms of classroom management and organization, this was handled incredibly well. I
talked to Mrs. Adams and Mrs. Joyner, and they told me that the children are taught their
schedule bit by bit at the beginning of the year so that they are able to learn it quickly
and easily. This was shown in the way the children transitioned from one activity to
another. For example, when the children went from early morning centers to the first
group activity time, they knew how to clean up and where everything was supposed to
go. When they went to sit on the
Come Fly With Me Narrative Essay
As I lay on the side of a pothole filled road, leaking through my torn Kevlar jacket. I
graze my neck with my index finger. Then run my finger across a slit running across
my neck from the right side of my carbon fiber helmet to my left shoulder. I imagine a
better place. Maybe dinner tonight with my pretty lady and some deep dish sausage and
onion pizza. I see Frank Sinatrawith pulled back brown hair, a top hat and a black suit
with a red bow tie standing on a stage. He starts singing, Come Fly with Me .
My first love story may not be like the typical Romeo and Juliet, but hey to say the least
it is a love story and MY love story. Now, I have never had a girlfriend. Until I met her at
the age of sixteen.
She was an alright little darling, about a seven on a scale of one to ten. She was smart,
skinny, and had a moderate look in the daylight. Maybe if you saw her at night after a
few cocktails she would look better. I could have asked the old man in the clouds for
better, but she would be just right. Sadowski 2
We met in Illinois near a hotel 8, strip club filled town called Rockford. The sight of

through my body, I finally felt happy for once.

The 18 Point Agreement
It is apparent by the citizens of Malaysia that Sabah and Sarawak are handled differently
from the other states in West Malaysia. This is due to the Malaysia Agreement which is
an agreement between Peninsular Malaya, Sabah, Sarawak, Singapore and the British
Colonial government to form the Federation of Malaysia. During the negotiation period
before 16 September 1963, Sarawak proposed its terms for its incorporation into
Malaysia to safeguard the special rights and autonomy of Sarawak and its citizens. The
foundation of the 18 Point Agreement was laid by the Nine Cardinal Principles formed
by the English Rajah in 1941.
Basically, the agreement is to uphold the area s rights on their religion, language,

Analysis Of The Song Thrift Shop By Macklemore And...
In our ever increasingly consumerist world, we are taught that extravagant spending on
luxury clothing is a sign of being fashionable and stylish, but Macklemore and Ryan
Lewis beg a differ in their hit song Thrift Shop. In the song, Macklemore and Ryan
Lewis illstrustates that a person can still have a unique and individualistic sense of style
while saving money by shopping at a secondhand or thrift store. During the course of the
song, Macklemore and Lewis comically recount their time shopping together at thrift
shops and recounts to audiences the unique and sometimes bizarre finds they come
across, such as flannel zebra jammies or a dookie brown leather jacket. After successfully
finding awesome secondhand ensembles, Macklemore... Show more content on

These verses show that Macklemore is not afraid to show that he is man who buys his
clothes on a budget and preferences to save money by buying second apperal. Another
example of repeating verses that to make clear to listeners that Macklemore s song is
a ballad to celebrate looking good on less, is the repeated verse I m in this big ass coat,
big ass coat from that thrift shop down the road, which puts forth that the artist is
satisfied that he in the way that he looks in his cheap, second hand clothing and wants
people to know that and he wants to flaunt it. By repeating this verse and others,
Macklemore is telling his audience that he doesn t care about how cheap his clothes
are because his feels good and is saving is hard earned cash. After a person listens to
Macklemore s song, listeners get a clear message that Macklemore take delight in
looking great while spending very little by repeating these and others verses in his hit
song. Usually the main point of a music video is to help tie into the message of the
song and give listeners a clearer perspective of what the artist is trying to convey, and
that is true with the music video of the song Thrift Shop. During the course of the video,
viewers are bombarded with images of
Analysis Of The Argument Of Negative Liberty
First and foremost, I am a proponent of negative liberty. Not only does this mean that
individuals should be free from external impediments to action by other people, but also
that a government should primarily remove obstructions to our freedom, which is in
contrast to positive liberty, for the purpose of preserving individual liberties. The lack of
hindrance to human action will limit governmentactivities and create a free, tolerant
society. In addition, negative liberty supports the individual freedom of choice and
movement. With this in mind, I cannot help but emphasize the significance of the degree
to which individuals encounter interferences from others. Some may argue that a
government should actively create conditions necessary for self determination and
freedom to act in the presence of internal capacities; however, I interpret that as a sense of
entitlement that requires a redistribution of wealth and ultimately violates the human
right of private property. For this reason, I find positive liberty to be an infringement of
others liberty and not even a political concept, but an economic concept. Throughout
mankind s history, there have been many types of oppression that illustrate my support
for negative liberty, such as the exploitative authoritarian regimes, economic
maltreatment, and racial oppression. Under an authoritarian regime, specifically a
dictatorship, the ruler has the political and executive power to persecute an individual for
political reasons,
Alice Walker s Everyday Use Essay
Alice Walker s Everyday Use
In the story Everyday Use the narrator is telling a story about her life and two
daughters, who are named Dee and Maggie. The narrator is very strong willed, honest,
compassionate and very concerned with the lives of her two daughters. Her daughter
Dee is not content with her lifestyle and makes it hard on Maggie and the narrator. The
narrator is trying to provide for her family the best way she can. The narrator is alone in
raising the two daughters and later sends her daughter Dee to college. The longer the
story goes on the more the narrator shows how intelligent and how much she loves her
two daughters.

Mama is also very observant because when her daughter Dee comes and visits, Dee
tells Mama that she changed her name to Wangero Leewanika Kemanjo. This makes
Mama feel that her daughter is running from her heritage. So when Dee asks for some
quilts that have been in the family for years, Mama tells her, No, they are for Maggie .
This says to me that Mama is very quick to draw as far as the actions of her daughter.
She notices that Dee changed her name and abandoned her heritage. Mama tells Dee that
her name came from her grandmamma. Mama is very understanding also, because she
isn t mad at Dee for changing her name, and just tells her that she can t have the quilts.
Mama was a very interesting to me in this story, because she is so manly in the story. I
can kill and clean a hog as mercilessly as a man , she says in the story. Mama is also
aware that she is not the brightest woman, because she says that she didn t go any
further then the second grade. I love how honest she is with herself. Like when she
talks about never being able to hold a tune. Most people would lie to their self and
make it sound like they could sing if they wanted to. Mama is also a dreamer, at times
because she refers to things the way that they were. Like when she refers to her
education and the house that they use to have. They had a house before but there was a
fire. Mama also has some humor to her, Why don t
Ignite Incur Foundations Case Summary
Problem:
All foundations need support in order to be viable philanthropic institutions. This support
includes filing all of the paper work associated with the grants approval process, vetting
the IRS standings of nonprofits before grants can be made, doing preliminary screenings
of nonprofits to identify if their missions match the missions of the foundations they are
attempting to solicit ect. Larger foundations (50 million dollars and over in net assets)
are able to hire a fulltime staff to handle these duties. Smaller foundations (100
thousand dollars to five million dollars) often times give one of the trustee s lawyers a
few extra billable hours for the lawyer to manage the foundation as there is less a
smaller volume of administrative work associated with making fewer grants. Midsized
foundations (5 million dollars 50million dollars in net assets) struggle because they do
not have enough administrative duties to warrant a full time salaried employee,
however they are too big to be managed effectively and efficiently by a lawyer or
accountant. This discrepancy can cause a lot of logistical issues ... Show more content on

Edgar Allan Poe Alone Essay
From childhood s hour I have not been As others were is a quote from Alone by Edgar
Allen Poe. This poem has a copious amount of metaphors and contradicting statements.
Edgar uses those literary devices to show his struggles with isolation and depression.
In the beginning, he said as a child he was different from everyone else because he
didn t have the same intensity of emotions as others I could not bring My passions
from a common spring From the same source I have not taken My sorrow . He talks
about his incapability to feel a full scale of emotions and isolation. Poe s cease to have a
range of emotions makes him to remain neutral or detached. He isolated himself from
others because of his differences and later on the solitude would... Show more content on

The poem has an abundance of metaphors and contradictions. Nature is an extended
metaphor throughout Alone and that is where multiple of the contradictions are located.
Poe has made many of the word have double meanings, for example the word torrent .
From the torrent, or the fountain torrent could either mean fast moving waters, which
would contradict with a fountain s water, or it could mean a sudden and violent outburst
of words or feelings, which could fit it with the theme of him not have such extreme
emotions. The word torrent also fits in with the extended nature metaphor. Poe uses the
extended metaphor to show all the contrasting emotions around him, but he remains
neutral. Then, in the dawn Of a most stormy life , stormy or the aspect of a storm is used
as a metaphor to show his emotions. The metaphor is also used many times in the entire
poem which shows him remaining neutral even when there are so many different
emotions around him. The contradictions represent the contrasting emotions in the
extended metaphor. In the end, the metaphor Of a demon in my view is used to show
the results of isolating himself from everyone else because of his neutrality. The demon
represents his depression from solitude. All the metaphors are used to create the theme of
being alone and
Terrorism, The Nuclear Hazard And Black Market
In the spectrum of modern international politics the key preeminent threats to security
and the sense of freedom from those threats are terrorism, the nuclear hazard and black
market in materiel. These three security issues, not only affect national and international
security, but also societal and economic security. Terrorism, has maintained the status as a
preeminent threat in the modern world today, but has also become a worldwide
phenomenon that has impacted not only in the Middle East but also in the Western
World alike. Terrorism has rapidly become a increasing security issue as attacks upon
innocent non combatants (Howard, L, 1992) have proliferated around the world, and are
no longer an occurrence that can be conveniently ignored by society, that can not only
undermine and make superpowers appear vulnerable, but instils fear into civilians and
governments alike. In addition to these factors, economy expert Kimberly Amadeo
surveyed the economic security of the United States after the September 2001 twin tower
bombings that killed 2993 and injured 8900 people. Amadeo (2014) found that the 2001
attacks caused the Dow Jones to drop more than 600 points, subsequently leading to the
2001 recession. This puts the security issue of terrorism into not only the category of
national and societal security, but also that concerning the national economy that
increases in volatility, as the relationship between the political structures of international
anarchy (Makinda,
Particles In Atoms Research Paper
Particles in Atoms
The following section will be describing the atom and all of the particles that make it
up. It will start off with what protons, neutrons, and electrons are. This will describe
where they are in the atom and what their relative sizes respective one another are.
This section will end off with the charges of all of these particles and the total number
of all of these particles for every element inside of the carbon family. The entire section
will be based off of the particles that make up an atom and more details about them such
as their location.
The atom, which is the basic unit of life, is made up different types of particles which are
protons, neutrons, and electrons. The proton is a stable subatomic particle that is located
in the nucleus of an atom. A neutronis quite similar to a proton in the sense that they are
both subatomic particles of very similar masses and almost always located in the nucleus.
Neutrons are found in the nucleus most of the time except for in ordinary hydrogen
which does not contain any. An electronis also a stable subatomic particle but it is found
in the shells or orbitals which surround the nucleus of an atom. As for the size of these
particles protons and neutrons are roughly the same size in mass, with the proton being
slightly lighter, while an electron weighs about two thousand times less than protons and
neutrons. Both the protons and neutrons make up most of the of the mass of the atom in
the nucleus while the electrons on the outskirts are much lighter and smaller. Considering
the charges of the particles, the proton has a positive electric charge. A neutron on the
other hand has no charge and is neutral. The last ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Executive Summary
The restaurant industry in the United States had annual sales of $ 631.8 billion and
employs 12.9 million people in 2012. Even in times of recession there is little evidence
that this industry has seen a decline especially in its fast food and quick service segment.
But with a depressed economy with no immediate upward trend in the near future,
majority of the customers indicated that they would either curtail their spending on
eating or best maintain its current level which is certainly going to affect the future of
many restaurants in the industry. Chipotle is part of the fast casual segment of the U.S

Summary of the Book Divergent
In post apocalyptic Chicago, the city is divided into five factions. Each faction is
composed of qualities the members believe will eradicate the qualities that once led the
world to destruction. The Abnegation believe in selflessness and humility, they always
put others before themselves and they live to serve for the greater good. Members of
Abnegation are chosen to be on the council to make decisions for the greater good of the
city. The Erudite factionseeks knowledge, because they believe that ignorance paved
the road for destruction of the past government. Candor seeks to always tell the truth,
no matter the consequences. The people of Amity are peace seekers who will do
anything to maintain tranquility throughout the city. The Dauntless members are
brave and believe in conquering their fears. Beatrice Prior is born to an Abnegation
family and she is always instructed to put other people s needs before her own. She is
only allowed to look in a mirror every few months when her mother cuts her hair and
she wears the same dull, gray clothes as the rest of her faction. Beatrice admires how
the Abnegation society works and how selfless her mother and her brother, Caleb, can
be, but she never truly feels like she belongs. She looks to the Dauntless crowd with
admiration as she passes them by and often finds herself thinking of the life she would
have as a part of their faction. Once a year, the sixteen year olds from each faction are
administered an aptitudetestto
Immanuel Kant Deontology
Deontology
The decisions of deontology may be appropriate for an individual but does not necessarily
produce a good outcome for society. Deontology (also known as nonconsequential), by
contrast, is dependent on moral laws, duties, rules and intuitions and centers on the
principles of 18th century philosopher Immanuel Kant. These moral laws and duties
declare that actions such as lying, murdering and breaking promises are fundamentally
wrong and we have no duty to partake in these actions. (CRI) This moral theory stems
from the Greek works deon and logos , which mean the study of duty. Deontology states
that an action s morality holds great value, and therefore the result of a wrong action does
not make it s outcome ethical. In other words,
The Experiment Of The First Experiment
Unlike the first experiment which lasted three seasons, this one lasted only one season,
from May to November 2013. Following a seed pre germination period of 72 hours in
the dark (25В°C), all treatments were planted in 2.5 L pots filled with a nitrogen free
substrate of fine quartz sand. The authors disposed the pots in rows with 15 cm inter
rows. They further fertigated the growing plants every two hours with a complete
nutrient solution, excluding nitrogen. Similarly to their first experiment, the authors
arranged this one in a slit plot design with four replicated blocks. This time, they used
six treatments per block: 1) alive alfalfaand tall fescue; 2) dead alfalfa and tall fescue; 3)
alive white clover and perennial ryegrass; 4) dead white clover and perennial ryegrass;
5) pure tall fescue and; 6) pure perennial ryegrass. These treatments were divided
between two randomized sub blocks with or without a legume. For the dead legumes, the
authors previously grew the plants for three months, then cut them right below the
taproot collar and further planted the grass species according to the treatments. Four
days after the transplant, treatments containing live legumes were inoculated with
rhizobia. To do so, the authors collected soil from the 0 20 cm soil horizon of
experiment 1. They took several samples, mixed them and dissolved a sub sample of 10
grams into 1 L of deionized water. The authors then inoculated experiment 2 pots with 10
mL of this solution and further

These issues are included to help students realize the need for professional skepticism

  • 2. America and Israel Support Essay America and Israel Support From the creation of Israel in 1947 to present day, America has supported Israel. The prime minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu said, The United States has given Israel, apart from political and military support, munificent and magnificent assistance in the economic sphere. With America s help, Israelhas grown to be a powerful, modern state. America has help and turned Israel to a very powerful nation. The United States provides 3 billion dollars to the Israeli government each year. However the real number is about 4.3 billions dollars in total foreign aid and America in total has given Israel 140 billion dollars 3 billion dollars of support equals to $500 per year for each individual Israeli. This is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The United States permitted Israel to have satellite images while the Yom Kippur War and during the Entebbe hostage crisis. America has been a great benefactor to the state of Israel. However, America should not support Israel unconditionally because it generates deep hatred from Arabs and that the government of Israel has shifted away form the democratic ideal and beliefs of America. The unconditional support of America towards Israel has caused Arab terrorist groups to hate and kill citizens of the United States. Also Israel s has turned away from a democratic ideal that grants equal rights to all citizens. Powerful and influential Arabs have a deep desire to kill and destroy America because of the current unconditional support America gives to Israel. For example, Hezbollah, a very capable terrorist group, hates America because of America s support to Israel. In 2002, Muhammed Husayn Fadlallah, a religious commander of the Hezbollah, said, I believe that America bears responsibility for all of Israel... America is a hypocritical nation... for it gives support and lethal weapons to the Israelis, but gives Arabs and Palestinians words America gives Israel weapons for protection, but Israel uses these weapons to kill thousands of innocent Arab women and children. This in return causes Arabs to hate the

There were no immediate deaths or injuries resulting from the incident; however, the accident drew much media attention and created concerns in the local area and beyond. The major forms of communication used to report these events were the three major television networks and local radio stations. The U.S. ARMY can be brought in to test the water in their medical testing facility. Since the 1980s, terrorist organizations have become users of biological agents. Biological weapons include any organism or toxin found in nature that can be used to incapacitate, kill, or otherwise impede an adversary. Biological weapons are characterized by low visibility, high potency, substantial accessibility, and relatively easy delivery. (Dire amp;Darling, 2011) Emergency response strategies for biological, chemical, nuclear, or radiological terrorist events should be based on scientifically established exposure limits for all the agents or materials involved. In the case of a radiological terrorist event, emergency response guidelines have been worked out. In the case of a terrorist event with the use of chemical warfare agents the situation is not that clear, though the new guidelines and clean up values are being generated based on re evaluation of toxicological and risk data. • 5. Truman s Speech In The Truman Doctrine By Harry S. Truman Harry S. Truman was very much involved in war. He wanted to help join the fight and even though his eyesight was poor, he still enlisted in the National Guard and in World War I, he became and artillery commander. Throughout his life, Harry S. Truman was always a go getter. He always wanted to help in wars and make sure America came out on top. This go getter attitude he expressed is very plainly visible in his speech: The Truman Doctrine . The purpose, tone, and subject of this speech all points toward what President Truman wanted to do with Greece and Turkey. The speaker, audience, and occasion also help Harry S. Trumanpush his ideas, but they do it in a more subdued way. The Author s purpose in The Truman doctrine is to show America ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The whole speech was his tone toward this subject because it was about how he wanted to try and fix the problems in Greece and Turkey. It is necessary only to glance at a map to realize that the survival and integrity of the Greek nation are of grave importance in a much wider situation. If Greece should fall under the control of an armed minority, the effect upon its neighbor, Turkey, would be immediate and serious. Confusion and disorder might well spread throughout the entire Middle East. Moreover, the disappearance of Greece as an independent state would have a profound effect upon those countries in Europe whose peoples are struggling against great difficulties to maintain their freedoms and their independence while they repair the damages of war. Here President Truman was talking about what would have happened should America have failed to help Greece and Turkey. The diction he used made each sentence even more horrible and when combining all of those sentences together, you had a paragraph that would have made people turn their heads. This is a serious course upon which we embark. I would not recommend it except that the alternative is much more serious. The United States contributed $341,000,000,000 toward winning World War II. This is an investment in world freedom and world peace. The assistance that I am recommending for Greece and Turkey amounts to little more than 1 tenth of 1 percent of this investment. It is only common sense that we should safeguard this investment and make sure that it was not in vain. The seeds of totalitarian regimes are nurtured by misery and want. They spread and grow in the evil soil of poverty and strife. They reach their full growth when the hope of a people for a better life has died. President Truman tried to make his point clear in helping Greece and Turkey. He tried to defend his points and make them just. From this paragraph alone, it is very distinct
  • 6. Walmart Arguments Against The Use Of Polyvinyl Chloride... Moreover, with fewer suppliers from which to choose and more nonprofits offering their input, Wal Mart might overlook opportunities to stock innovative or desirable products that are not necessarily green. For example, many nonprofit partners advocate against the use of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastics, which may have negative effects on human health. Yet some suppliers argue that the negative effects of PVC are unproven. They also say that customers demand the strength and flexibility that only PVC can provide. Wal Mart s job is to manage these tensions, weighing the demands of customers against the concerns of network partners. To offer a profitable mix that includes more green products, Wal Mart can retire conventional products in favor

But now, infrared LED has evolved into a system of significantly greater importance and use. Throughout the world, it is now being used to transmit voice, television and data signals as light waves. Its advantages as compared with conventional coaxial cable or twisted wire pairs are manifold. Attributing the expansion of the union and the suppressing of the frontier to the railroads and steamboats that allowed citizens to travel far westward, Turner explains that the western frontier no longer exists, and the frontier is scattered with no directionality as the settlements. Journalism and writing have not been lifelong loves of mine, and throughout high school I was a math and science student. I took an introductory journalism course as a senior in high school, and I quickly learned that journalismis more than writing about yourself and topics you like. Even with the light requirements of the class, I got my first taste of the process of writing a story. When I arrived to campus, I decided to apply to the journalism program in hopes of simply becoming a better writer, regardless of what I would end up studying. Nearly three years later, I am thankful that I decided to take the first steps toward becoming a better writer. The undergraduate journalism classes I took piqued my interest in the field, and the potential graduate courses at Columbia will culminate my learning experience. As an undergraduate, I was particularly influenced by a class I took during the 2016 election. The class was described as a seminar discussion on recent election news, but it turned out to be something entirely different. I soon found out that the class was going to be responsible for creating and maintaining a new website similar to Politifact. Each student was assigned a local or state senate race and a national race to follow and fact check. This task, while interesting, seemed daunting at first. The local race seemed too small for anybody to

Also, they both care about each other in similar ways. Dally and Johnny are completely different when it comes to the law. Dally is the least law abiding in the gang, where as Johnny is the most. Dally and Johnny are dissimilar as they die. Dally dies a hoodlum, which is vast differencefrom how Johnny dies a hero. His parents do not interact with him and Dally states, my old man don t give a hang whether I m in jail or dead in a car wreck or drunk in the gutter (88). Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Muslim Women Howard Hassman (2011, 440) states that, While women, like men, have an interest in enjoying an elemental capacity for self direction, the importance of this capacity is not conceded by all cultures. It is important to note the significant influence culture has on women s rights issues. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights(UDHR) raised a variety of questions dealing with the inference of the term universal. It infers that the declaration is meant to represent human rights in all countries, including those that are non Western with highly complex cultures and societies. By creating this agreement and applying it as universal it has the contradictory effect of undermining communities autonomous rights to enjoy their own culture. Additionally, in looking at historic actions of Western countries Anthropologists were concerned that the UDHR was a series of attempts by the West to impose its values on other societies. This can very well be the case because of the many debates that occurred surrounding women s rights and female genital mutilation practices. Many criticized Western scholars claiming that they could not legitimately criticize traditional practices that seemed to violate women s rights. The context in which cultural practices are birthed are placed within the social construct of the origin society. One cannot possibly understand the human rights implications of another cultures if they don t understand the culture as a participant. Also, there

  • 26. Analysis Of The Argument Of Negative Liberty First and foremost, I am a proponent of negative liberty. Not only does this mean that individuals should be free from external impediments to action by other people, but also that a government should primarily remove obstructions to our freedom, which is in contrast to positive liberty, for the purpose of preserving individual liberties. The lack of hindrance to human action will limit governmentactivities and create a free, tolerant society. In addition, negative liberty supports the individual freedom of choice and movement. With this in mind, I cannot help but emphasize the significance of the degree to which individuals encounter interferences from others. Some may argue that a government should actively create conditions necessary for self determination and freedom to act in the presence of internal capacities; however, I interpret that as a sense of entitlement that requires a redistribution of wealth and ultimately violates the human right of private property. For this reason, I find positive liberty to be an infringement of others liberty and not even a political concept, but an economic concept. Throughout mankind s history, there have been many types of oppression that illustrate my support for negative liberty, such as the exploitative authoritarian regimes, economic maltreatment, and racial oppression. Under an authoritarian regime, specifically a dictatorship, the ruler has the political and executive power to persecute an individual for political reasons,

These three security issues, not only affect national and international security, but also societal and economic security. Terrorism, has maintained the status as a preeminent threat in the modern world today, but has also become a worldwide phenomenon that has impacted not only in the Middle East but also in the Western World alike. Terrorism has rapidly become a increasing security issue as attacks upon innocent non combatants (Howard, L, 1992) have proliferated around the world, and are no longer an occurrence that can be conveniently ignored by society, that can not only undermine and make superpowers appear vulnerable, but instils fear into civilians and governments alike. Candor seeks to always tell the truth, no matter the consequences. The people of Amity are peace seekers who will do anything to maintain tranquility throughout the city. The Dauntless members are brave and believe in conquering their fears. Beatrice Prior is born to an Abnegation family and she is always instructed to put other people s needs before her own. She is only allowed to look in a mirror every few months when her mother cuts her hair and she wears the same dull, gray clothes as the rest of her faction. Beatrice admires how the Abnegation society works and how selfless her mother and her brother, Caleb, can be, but she never truly feels like she belongs. She looks to the Dauntless crowd with admiration as she passes them by and often finds herself thinking of the life she would have as a part of their faction. Once a year, the sixteen year olds from each faction are administered an aptitudetestto
  • 34. Immanuel Kant Deontology Deontology The decisions of deontology may be appropriate for an individual but does not necessarily produce a good outcome for society. Deontology (also known as nonconsequential), by contrast, is dependent on moral laws, duties, rules and intuitions and centers on the principles of 18th century philosopher Immanuel Kant. These moral laws and duties declare that actions such as lying, murdering and breaking promises are fundamentally wrong and we have no duty to partake in these actions. (CRI) This moral theory stems from the Greek works deon and logos , which mean the study of duty. Deontology states that an action s morality holds great value, and therefore the result of a wrong action does not make it s outcome ethical. In other words,
  • 35. The Experiment Of The First Experiment Unlike the first experiment which lasted three seasons, this one lasted only one season, from May to November 2013. Following a seed pre germination period of 72 hours in the dark (25В°C), all treatments were planted in 2.5 L pots filled with a nitrogen free substrate of fine quartz sand. The authors disposed the pots in rows with 15 cm inter rows. They further fertigated the growing plants every two hours with a complete nutrient solution, excluding nitrogen. Similarly to their first experiment, the authors arranged this one in a slit plot design with four replicated blocks. This time, they used six treatments per block: 1) alive alfalfaand tall fescue; 2) dead alfalfa and tall fescue; 3) alive white clover and perennial ryegrass; 4) dead white clover and perennial ryegrass; 5) pure tall fescue and; 6) pure perennial ryegrass. These treatments were divided between two randomized sub blocks with or without a legume. For the dead legumes, the authors previously grew the plants for three months, then cut them right below the taproot collar and further planted the grass species according to the treatments. Four days after the transplant, treatments containing live legumes were inoculated with rhizobia. To do so, the authors collected soil from the 0 20 cm soil horizon of experiment 1. They took several samples, mixed them and dissolved a sub sample of 10 grams into 1 L of deionized water. The authors then inoculated experiment 2 pots with 10 mL of this solution and further

Copyright 2009 by Pearson Education, Inc., Upper Saddle River, NJ 07458 259 Section 9: Auditing Cash and Revenues often simply focus on confirming the accuracy of numbers and often do not catch bigger picture issues relating to evidence quality. These issues are included to help students realize the need for professional skepticism when obtaining and evaluating evidence and help them pay attention to more than just the numbers. To help the instructor make a vivid and lasting impression about evidence quality, a copy of the fraudulent faxed confirmation form used by Parmalat is included in these notes so the instructor can make an overhead to use in class. The actual forged Parmalat fax can be used to create a vivid learning experience for students. USE OF CASE This case gives students real world experience doing a task they will probably perform soon after graduation and simulates a situation similar to the Parmalat fraud by including a questionable faxed confirmation form. Students should become familiar with the documents used to audit cash accounts and learn how to properly document work using tick marks. The case is intended to go
