The Correlation Between School Uniforms and Violence Essay
Is the absence of school uniforms leading to an up rise of violence between children in
public schools? According to the National School Safety Center s Report on School
Associated Violent Deaths, Since the 1992 1993 school year, two hundred seven were
shooting victims (Kelly n pag). According to the U.S. Department of Educations National
Center for Education Statistics (NCES), 10% of all public schools had one or more
serious violent crimes (murder, rape, sexual battery, suicide, physical attack or fight
with a weapon, or robbery), and most of the serious violent crimes occurred in the
middle and high schools (Kelly n pag).
School uniforms and dress codes should be mandatory for all students enrolled in public
schools because they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These schools do not have gangs or violence, so the school uniforms are not really
changing much. However, in areas that do have a large number of gangs and violent
crimes, such as big city public schools, a dress code is not being adopted. These clothing
related crimes are mostly seen in a high crime area, yet nothing is being done to solve
these problems. School uniforms would decrease violence in many public schools
because they would reduce the amount of theft that may occur, the amount of bullying
that occurs on a daily basis, and the amount of attempted or successful murders that
occur. Uniforms would reduce the amount of theft that occurs because every student
would be wearing the same clothing. If every student is wearing the same article of
clothing, students would not be tempted to steal clothing, shoes, or jewelry from one
another. Uniforms would also make every student feel a sense of equality. School
uniforms would reduce the amount of bullying that occurs because they would be
mandatory for every student; they would limit so called tough guys from making fun of
students who are weaker or who do not have the brand name clothes, and are less
fortunate than other students. The amount of attempted or successful murders would
also decrease due to the inability to wear baggy clothes or trench coats where they may
easily be able to hide weapons. For example, The California Department of Education

Hard Rock Cafe Case Study
Q1.Identify the strategy changes that have taken place at Hard Rock CafГ© since its
founding in 1971.
The first Hard Rock Cafe opened its doors to the public on June 14, 1971, in London,
England. Founded by Isaac Tigrett and Peter Morton, two enterprising and music
loving Americans, beginning with a guitar, it is only a joke among the friends at first,

of the experience economy to its cafe operation. This innovation is somewhat akin to
mass customization in manufacturing. At Hard Rock, the experience concept is to
provide not only a custom meal from the menu, but a dining event that includes a unique
visual and sound experience not duplicated anywhere in the world.
Here, we first discuss the Product Design and Quality: When Hard Rock Cafe is

blossomed into a way of life. Now, social norms and preferences often suggest some
tweaking of menus for local taste. The following is several examples:
In Europe, particularly in British, there is still some fear of mad cow diseases.
Therefore, Hard Rock CafГ© is focusing less on hamburgers and beef and more on fish

An organizational structure defines how activities such as task allocation, coordination

Advantages and Disadvantages
There are both advantages and disadvantages of the matrix structure; some of the
disadvantages are an increase in the complexity of the chain of command.
This occurs because of the dif ferentiation between functional managers and project
managers, which can be confusing for employees to understand who is next in the chain
of command. An additional disadvantage of the matrix structure is higher manager to
worker ratio that results in conf licting loyalties of employees. However the matrix
structure also has significant advantages that make it valuable for companies to use. The
matrix structure improves upon the silo critique of functional management in that it
diminishes the vertical stru cture of functional and creates a more horizontal structure
which allows the spread of information across task boundaries to happen much quicker.
Moreover, matrix structure allows for specialization that can increase depth of
knowledge allows individuals to be chosen according to project needs.
This correlation between individuals and project needs is what produces the concept

Abortion
Abortion has been around for thousands of years. Abortion was legal in the United states
from the time the first settlers arrived. Abortion was legal until in the mid 1800s laws
were beginning to be passed to make abortion illegal. All surgical procedures during the
mid to late 1800s were extremely dangerous due to the lack of sterilized equipment and
the untrained physicians who performed the procedures. The mortality rate of mother
and infant during the birthing process was ridiculously high without today s technology.
Like every outlawed thing in the world, there was a back alley market for outlawed
abortion procedures. The strongest force behind the repealing of the laws that made
abortion illegal was the doctors who wanted to establish for themselves exclusive rights
to practice medicine. These doctors wanted to prevent midwives, apothecaries, and
homeopaths from competing for payment and patients.
In 1910, all but one state had made abortion a criminal act except for in the scenario
where an abortion was necessary to save the mother s life, in that case, it was
considered a physician s only decision. Even though abortion was made illegal, many
women still sought abortions, therefore the abortion rate did not decrease. Between the
time period of 1880 to 1973 thousands of women were harmed during or from illegal
abortions. Some people were fortunate enough to get safer yet still illegal
Essay about Willie Nelson s Music Makes Me Happy
Going Busking is not as easy as it looks. You have to have a talent such as being a
mime, singing, playing an instrument, or dancing. I played piano in a band with my
friends; our number one song was On the Road Again by Willie Nelson. Willie Nelson
changed music for some people and I will be talking about music changing people s
lives. Willie Hugh Nelson is a country musicsinger, song writer, and guitarplayer, he was
an author, poet, and activist. The album Shotgun Willie Made him a very famous
country artist. Willie was born in the great depression and he wrote his first song when
he was seven and joined a band when he was ten. He impacted people s lives because in

There are a lot of times in country music that there is a bass, guitar, singer, piano, and
drums. That is what our band is. The bass and the drums are for keeping the beat and
sounding good. The piano and the guitar are usually leading and if one is then the other
is the background. And of course the singer is the lead singer. Especially in country
music, sometimes there are more than one singer and there is a background singer.
Busking is like showbiz that is the same as an entry level job. If you perform well
enough someone could discover you and you could join the ranks of famous performers.
First you have to find a good place where people walk by or drive, then you can tell
people about it and that will get some to come, and you have to pick a good time to go.
If you go when everyone is in school and at work you won t get money and you won t get
discovered.
We had a good turnout. Lots of people went. It is all because we used all of the skills
that I have told you. I learned piano, learned how to play On the Road Again . I had
some trouble singing and playing piano but it all worked out I learned that if you want
to get better you need to practice and push yourself. You will not get anywhere if you
stay in the same place.
There are lots of ways that music can impact people s lives. Our project told us to impact

Energy Sources Of Renewable Biomass
I. INTRODUCTION
As an abundant, inexpensive, and renewable as well as environmentally friendly (i.e.
CO2 neutral) energy source, biomass energy has been a particular focus of researcher
and policy makers as well as industries around the world (Chen, 2003). Renewable
biomass presents an important research area for energy source, considering the current
global crises of exhaustible sources of energy. Bioenergy is the 4th largest source of
energy in the world, and it does not contribute to the global warming through emissions
of CO2 or any other green house gases. Biomass pyrolysis has witnessed exponential
growth in its research and has been investigated extensively in the last few decades,
first in the form of fixed bed reactors and later in the form of moving bed reactors
(fluidized bed, auger bed etc). As the combustion of solid biomass is analogous to the
combustion of other solid fuels, such as coal and waste, essentially the same technology
is applicable to all solid fuels, although modifications are required to handle the high
content of moisture and volatiles typically associated with biomass fuels (Duffy Eaton,
2013). In this paper, which reviews the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis of
fixed/moving bed solid gas reactors, biomass pyrolysis, gasification and combustion has
been the focus of the study. Combustion of biomass in the presence of carrier gases like
N2 etc has been extensively studied, with focus being on the numerical or CFD models

Fast Food Nation By Eric Schlosser
OVER THE LAST THREE DECADES, fast food has infiltrated every nook and cranny
of American society , Schlosser writes. Fast Food Nation, written by Eric Schlosser,
includes topics about fast food chains impact on the community, jobs relating to fast
food, and health issues. Fast Food Nation uses logic to appeal to the aspects of fast food
chains by giving relatable examples from the devastating effects on the communities to
the millions of jobs offered for our country. Moreover, fast food chains have contributed
positivity to society, but with dire consequences. Are fast food chains always the best
choice? Eric Schlosser presents us with some ways in which the fast food industry
changes communities for the worse. He provides examples like the town of Greeley,
Colorado, as well as other places, whose communities have been irrevocably changed by
the fast food industry when slaughterhouses and meatpacking plants set up shop there.
The fast food chains vast purchasing power and their demand for a uniform product have
encouraged fundamental changes in how cattle are raised, slaughtered, and processed
into ground beef. These changes have made meatpacking once a highly skilled, highly
paid occupation into the most dangerous job in the United States, performed by armies of
poor, transient immigrants whose injuries often go unrecorded and uncompensated. And
the same meat industry practices that endanger these workers have facilitated the
introduction of deadly pathogens,

Jonathan Swifts Satire
Recently, there has been an occurrence of a disturbing new trend worldwide: the rise
of the transgender community. These people are dangerous and should be kept far
away from your children at all costs. Their outrageous cross dressing habits are a threat
to gender secure people everywhere. Gender secure people are clearly the only ones
who can think logically and know exactly how to live their lives. Transgenderpeople
obviously have no idea what they are doing. Gendersecure people know exactly what
they are going to do the moment they are born. They are either born to be a lawyer, a

Irony is most noticeable in how the author declares how transgender people have no
idea who they are and gender secure people do. As the majority of society knows,
every single person struggles with periods of self identity issues. Nobody truly knows
who they are supposed to be until they have spent some time sifting through their own
mind. Irony is also evident in the sentence Let s face it: do people really believe that
someone who cross dresses as the opposite sex can actually be brave or strong? This
sentence is ironic because it takes a great deal of strength bravery for transgender
people to express themselves and show the world who they truly are. The satire also
uses exaggeration, like in the writings of Jonathan Swift. For example, the satire says,
These cross dressing freaks are little more than a circus sideshow attraction. This is
exaggeration because although transgender people do cross dress, they are not
necessarily circus freaks . They are real people who think and have feelings like those
who are gender secure. These people are not sideshow attraction freaks who exist
exclusively for people s entertainment. Sentences such as These people are dangerous

Assignment 3 Thomas van Essen Dutch Supermarket moves cross border
In this paper we would like to advise the Dutch supermarket chain on their plans of
expanding their services globally. The supermarket chain wants to do this by means of
an online platform service from which customers can order their groceries. They will
have local distribution centers where the groceries will be delivered from. Customers
must create an online account to order groceries. By creating the online account
customers are required to give up personal information.
Big data is often regarded as the currency of today s digital economy. Collected,
analyzed and moved across the globe, personal data has acquired enormous economic
significance and it s more than understandable that the supermarket aspires to follow
the trend. The key challenge in relation to cross border data transfers lies in the
differences in approach to privacy protection across the world. However, more and
more countries follow the European model when keeping local privacy laws up to date
and call for harmonization of data protection laws on a global level.
It is important that the supermarket performs a careful consideration of the European
Union (EU) data protection requirements before it initiates a cross border data flow to
determine which data protection requirements exist for them based on national data
Perseverance In Divergent
The war was terrible, the whole world was destroyed. The last city left divided
themselves into five factions to keep the peace. The smart ones are classified Erudite.
Amity are always kind, Candor value honesty, Dauntless are brave, and Abnegation are
selfless. The system works because everyone knows where they belong; everyone
except for Tris. In the novel Divergent, by Veronica Roth, Tris demonstrates
perseverance; this is shown through how she is able to step out of her comfort zone,
always remains undeterred, and can overcome obstacles. Tris steps out of her comfort
zone several times throughout the book; when she changes factions, jumps off a roof,
and becomes a leader. Tris has always known that she does not belong, especially when...

Abnegation has very strict rules that ban anything that makes one selfish. Tris has a rare
condition called Divergent; which means she can belong in more than one faction. The
government think that it is dangerous, so they try to kill anyone who has it. Tris has to
hide it, so even though being curious is selfish; she secretly asks different sources for
help, some of which question her curiosity, Never net a curious Abnegation before (Roth
12). By doing this, she feels that she has improved her understanding of it, and can
conceal it. Dauntless are known for being tough, so in initiation they are taught to fight.
Tris is not strong, so she gets knocked out very fast during her fight. While in the
hospital she is told that she is not aloud continue training, and that she will have to
leave. She felt discouraged because she did not risk everything just to quit now. Tris
was not going to take no for an answer, so even though she was in extreme pain, she
continued initiation. The last occasion that Tris remains undeterred is when she goes
zip lining. To take their minds off of initiation, everyone decides to go zip lining. No
one wants Tris to go because they think that she does not fit in, but she stands up for
herself and reluctantly, they let her go. She was petrified, because if she backed down,
she would be made fun of; but she went down the zip line and proved herself as an
equal. It is tough to always remain undeterred, especially when you have to go through it
alone; but because Tris persevered she is able to stay
Constitutionality of Stop and Frisk
Abstract
The Fourth Amendment of the United States Constitution protects one s rights against
unreasonable searches and seizures. It also states that no warrants shall be issued
without probable cause. Probable cause can be defined as a person of reasonable caution
who believes that a crime has been committed and the person accused has committed that
crime. Modern law has afforded police officers an incentive to respect this amendment,
known as the stop and frisk act. The Stop and Frisk law allows police officers to stop
someone and do a quick search of their outer clothing for weapons: if the officer has a
reasonable suspicion that a crime has or is about to take place and the person stopped is
armed or dangerous. The reasonable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On October 31, 1963, a Cleveland police detective named Martin McFadden saw two
men, John W. Terry and Richard Chilton, standing on a street corner looking
suspicious. One would walk by a certain store window, stare in, and walk back to the
other to confer. This was repeated several times, and the detective believed that they
were plotting to do a store robbery. The officer approached the men and addressed
himself as a policeman, and asked their names. When the men appeared suspicious in
their answers, Officer McFadden patted them down and discovered that both men were
armed. He proceeded to remove their guns and arrested them for carrying concealed
weapons. Terry was then sentenced to three years in prison.
Terry appealed the case, claiming that the guns found should be inadmissible in court
proceedings as evidence since his Fourth Amendment rights were violated. The case was
appealed to the Supreme Court, where it was it was ruled that his rights had not been
violated.
In an 8 to 1 decision, the Court held that the search undertaken by the officer was
reasonable under the Fourth Amendment and that the weapons seized could be
introduced into evidence against Terry. The Court found that the officer acted on more

Vonnegut s Nihilistic Views Exposed in Cat s Cradle Essay
Vonnegut s Nihilistic Views Exposed in Cat s Cradle
If humans strive to fulfill their void, of a lack of meaning in their lives, their folly will
blind them from the truth. Kurt Vonnegut portrays his inner emotions and feelings of the
insignificance of religion through the characters of his novel, Cat s Cradle. His satiric
approach to a subject that many people base their daily existence upon, challenges the
readers faith. As people search for a deeper meaning in their lives, the more confused
they become. Only to become entwined in the Cat s Cradle of life. In the beginning, the

I wanted all things To seem to make some sense, So we all could be happy, yes, Instead

Bokonon explains his reasons for creating the lies on which his religion is founded; he
makes the peoples lives more wholesome. People have always searched for meaning,
meaning that science has not been able to provide them with.
So the people therefore turn to higher forms of meaning,
i.e. religion; despite the fact that it s constructed to give meaning when no such
meaning exists. Bokonon s reason why man searched for meaning in life is as
follows: And God created every living creature that now moveth, and one was man.
Mud as man alone could speak. God leaned close as mud as man sat up, looked around,
and spoke. Man blinked. What is the purpose of all this? he asked politely. Everything
must have a purpose? asked God. Certainly, said man. Then I leave you to think of one
for all this, said God, and he went away (265). The oblivious correlation between this
story, of how humans were created, and the story of Adam and Eve, from the bible, is a
religious satire. Vonnegutuses this to prove

Essay on Internet Taxation
Internet Taxation
The advent and expansion of the Internet have brought the issue of the application of
state and local sales taxation to Internet, telephone, catalog, and other remote sales to the
forefront of the policy debate. Under current law, states cannot require corporations
without a substantial presence within their borders to collect and remit sales taxes.
While all states do require residents to remit the taxes owed in the form of use tax
payments, few people send in use tax forms, rendering remote sales essentially tax free.
The revenue loss due to the lack of taxation on Internet sales has been minimal thus far;
however, states are concerned that the growth of the Internet will lead to a substantial
drain on revenue. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Note that the high court s decision was in 1992, a full two years before the
commercial Web existed. The states argue that it is legally easier for them to go after
the Web sites. And therein lies the implicit threat and the only stick the states hold:
They are making a not so subtle threat to start suing e commerce sites unless they start
collecting state sales tax. The SSUTA group set Oct. 1 as a target date for states to
start enforcement. The legal standing that the states would have to force e commerce
sites to comply is weak at best, but it s the classic lawsuit threat: We may lose, but you

depositions. And, heck, there s always a chance that we ll win, so you might as well do

Argument Against Internet Sales Taxes
Remote Sales and Taxation Issue
In a series of opinions, the Supreme Court has ruled that states cannot compel firms
without a substantial nexus within the taxing state to collect and remit use taxes. The
most important cases are National Bellas Hess, Inc. v. Department of Revenue of Ill. and
Quill Corp. North Dakota. Substantial nexus has been interpreted to mean a physical
presence, and precludes states from requiring vendors whose only connection to the state
is by mail, phone, or Internet to remit taxes. In their 1992 decision in Quill, the court
ruled that requiring out of state vendors to collect the use

The Case Of Coca-Cola
In order to build a strong brand, each business has to figure out how the customers
think and feel about its products. Brand resonance, as an approach focusing on the
various stages of consumer brand relationship, is a useful tool to achieve that target.
In a specific case of Coca Cola, the company enjoys its high brand awareness among its
competitors in carbonated beverage industry. In 2015, the soft drink market was
dominated by the Coca Cola Company, which accounted for 48.6% of the market
share (Statista 2016). The customers also identified the brand as American values and
beliefs thanks to its strong historical inheritance since 1886. The company itself also
has spread the American traditional lifestyle across the globe by giving the message of
consumerism, being carefree and family values. In terms of brand performance, the
original and the most popular product of Coca Cola is Coke, which can be seen as a

Getting married is the most amazing thing that happens in everyone s life. If you are in
love and then sharing this eternal bond, then you are the luckiest couple ever, but if this

marriages, no matter whether it is love or arranged, a time comes when the eternal

The Concepts Of Nature, Humanity, Power And Love Lay As

Suzan Muzafar
Professor John Wang
English 170W
October 13, 2014
The concepts of nature, humanity, power and love lay as a foundation for Shakespeare
s, King Lear. These notions are examined through the actions and realizations of King
Lear, himself. Throughout the discourse of this play we view the portrayal of humans as
animals and witness King Lear s mistreatment after he gives away his power. When
doing so he makes clear his view on love and its value, solely based on the flattery of
words.Through nature, King Lear becomes grounded and recognizes the animalistic
behaviors of the rich and the struggles of the poor. This recognition brings him to an
utmost discovery that presents the reality of vicious humanity and changes the way he
views the world. Nature plays the utmost largest role in this play. We can begin with the
orating of nature through Lear relinquishing his crown and dividing his power among
his daughters. It is here that Lear states his intentions to shake all cares and business
from our age, (l.l.40) in order to unburthened crawl towards death. (l.l.42) Although, it
was not in the intentions of King Lear to wreak havoc on his kingdom, he did so by
relinquishing his crown. Therefore, subsequently leading his kingdom to an ironic flow
of catastrophic events. It was impossible for Lear to stop being king due to the fact that
it was his rightful position and he acknowledges this by stating:
Hear me, recreant! On thine allegiance, hear me!
Winesburg Character Analysis
Winesburg, Ohio by Sherwood Anderson; is a collection of short stories reproducing
the town of many grotesques . Anderson defines the term grotesque as being a person
that took one of the truths to himself, call it his own truth, and tried to live his life by it
(Anderson, 3). In the book, each story is about a grotesquecharacter, including Wash
Williams in the story Respectability . Williams is the worst grotesque in the book.
Specifically, the worst grotesque is a person who has become obsessed with an idea or
feelingand cannot accepta different opinion. Wash Williams is the worst grotesque,
because from what happened to him, his feelings towards change. He became violent, he
forces his opinions on others, and it seems to be unable to change his beliefs.
In Respectability , Wash Williams is an ugly, miserable man with no friends. Anderson
describes him as a huge ugly kind of ugly monkey, a creature with ugly sagging
hairless skin below his eyes, and a bright purple underbody. (Anderson, 68).Williams
was the best operator in Ohio, but after what happened to him, he got demoted to his
state. Williams hated the people of the small town, especially women. His obsession
with hating women; took over his passion for work. He viewed all women as Bitches
because of his failed marriage, his feeling for men were different; he pitied them. Does
not every man let his life be managed for him by some bitch or another? (Anderson,
68).He found his
Limbach s Bring Honor To Us All

In a Chinese family, bringing honor is important for the children in the household. The
only way a woman in a family can bring honor is by getting a husband and being a good

The Use Of Roundup, A Major Concern For The American
People
Autism, a disease that increased alongside the growing use of Roundup, is a major
concern for the American people. The United States has the highest rate in Autism in
the world. Glyphosate again plays a major role in the large amount of cases. This was
proven by a study conducted by Dr. Huber, a professor emeritus from Purdue
University. Dr. Huber tested on rats being fed non GMO then switched to GMO feed.
At the beginning of the study when the rats were being fed organically made food
were very passive and friendly but after a month of being fed GM food they became
easily irritated and would not get along with one another. This proved that the
psychological and behavioral well being of rats was affected by their food and they
showed similar symptoms and behaviors to those diagnosed with Autism. In figure 1,
the correlation between the increase of glyphosate and Autism is very clear. If
America wants to decrease the amount of cases of Autism per year, the ban of GMOs
would be very beneficial. It would also promote a healthier diet as organic food would
increase in number and lower in price. Due to the mass production of cheap corn and soy
in America, other food industries that produce healthier fruits and vegetables decrease in
number. Importing healthy fruits and vegetables from other countries is unnecessarily
expensive and that raises the prices of healthy foods in the market, which discourages
many lower class families from eating the recommended daily fruit and
Relationship Between The High God Di And The Shang
Dynasty
The High God Di and The Shang The Shang Dynasty are the first recorded dynasty to
rule over Ancient China. They were people of intellect, higher power, and prophecies.
What they are most known for are their oracle bones. These were either made of
tortoise shell or cattle scapula. As to why they chose these specific animals and bones,
whether it was a religious, or symbol for a deity or could have been a large population
of these animals, no one knows. The king would attend the ritual of the divination by
fire, where he would ask the deities a question as to why a specific event had occurred
or a demand, such as requesting a fertile year. The diviner would then answer the
question or demand translated through the cracks after setting the inscribed bone into the
fire. These translations could then say whether the gods were pleased, displeased, the
reason a certain event or disaster occurred. The deity the Shang King would mostly
contact through these oracle bones was the the Higher God, Di.
The relationship with the Shang and Di, the High God, based on the analysis of the
oracle bones was less paternal in the sense that the Chinese did not see their god as
benevolent. The Chinese viewed Di and the others as to be feared, but also to be
respected. The deities to the Shang were hierarchical, in the way they did not per say
love the Shang the way Christians see their god. However, worshipping Di, such as
sacrifices and holding rituals in their honor was a big part of

their jobs. The movie starts with Peter, the protagonist, going through his typical day
of work at Initech. Various annoyances have been accumulating and Peter views his
days at work as a waste of time and has no motivation to do anything productive. In
addition to these brewing issues, Peter s boss, Bill Lumbergh, is known for being a
stickler to rules, however trivial they may be. For example, when Peter forgets to include
the cover sheet to a TPS report, not only does Lumbergh personally talk to Peter to
remind him about the cover sheet for future reports, but also sends the next... Show more

They were angry and frustrated by the way the company had treated them throughout
their employment and especially during the layoff process. Instead of seeking revenge by
skimming from the company s bank account, they could have chosen alternative methods
to resolve their frustrations and dissatisfactions. For example, they could have filed suit
against the company for wrongful termination. The men also could have chosen to write
a letter to the higher level managers at the company to inform them about the waste of

Lumbergh. Additionally, the men may have chosen to take the high road and begun
looking for other employment opportunities. Lastly, since technically only Samir and
Michael were being fired and Peter was being promoted, Peter could have hired them

Alimony Payment Research Paper
Alimony is a court order payment made under a divorce or separate maintenance decrees
between former spouses. Payments are considered alimony when you no longer file a
return with your former spouse, the payment is received in cash, the payment is received
by your former spouse, if the divorce or separation agreement doesn t not state that the
payment is alimony, or you and your former spouse no longer live together. Payments
must stop after former spouse s death and the payment is not treated as child support or a
property settlement. Not all payments under a divorce or separation instrument are
considered alimony such as child support, noncash property settlements, or any other

If one is subjected to this rule, they must include part of the alimony previously
deducted in their income in the third year. While the ex spouse can deduct part of the
alimony payments they previously received from their income in the same time
period. The three year period begins once the alimony payer has made a qualifying
alimony payment under a divorce decree. Reasons that can require a recapture include
a change in your divorce or separation instrument, a failure to make timely payments, a
reduction in ability to provide support, or a reduction in your former spouses need for
support. A taxpayer is subject to the recapture rule if the alimony paid in the third year
decreases by more than $15,000 or the alimony paid in the second and third years
decreases significantly from alimony paid in the first year. When calculating decreasing
alimony one cannot include payments made under a temporary order, payments
required over a period of at least 3 calendar years that may vary (for example, income
from a rental property), or payments that decrease because of the death of either spouse

Cultural Appropriation, By The Kylie Jenner Lip Challenge
Anyone who knows me, knows me knows that I love to watch reruns of What not to
wear on TLC, As it teaches me something I clearly know nothing about, fashion.
However anyone who is in my Spanish class known that I not only care about my
culture but others as well. This school year has been interesting both fashion wise and
politically, from the Kylie Jenner Lip challenge, to Donald Trump running for
president. It has been such a weird school year however, that it has pointed out a sad
fact about the current fashion world, that is prevalent through the politics we discuss in
our everyday lives, and that is cultural appropriation. As cultural appropriation according
to the Oxford Dictionary is A term used to describe the taking over of creative or artistic
forms, themes, or practices by one cultural group from another. It is in general used to
describe Western appropriations of non‐Western or non‐white forms, and carries
connotations of exploitation and dominance. And despite how much we would like to
believe that this issue doesn t exist in our present day society, if one looks In clothing
stores, fashion magazines, and even Halloween parties, cultural theft is occurring. This
can be seen especially with indigenous cultures as: elements of indigenous cultures are
morphed into fashion trends and costumes for those who will never understand their
significance. Navajo print leggings, tribal jewelry, and Indian princess Halloween
costumes are examples of gross

  • 2. The Correlation Between School Uniforms and Violence Essay Is the absence of school uniforms leading to an up rise of violence between children in public schools? According to the National School Safety Center s Report on School Associated Violent Deaths, Since the 1992 1993 school year, two hundred seven were shooting victims (Kelly n pag). According to the U.S. Department of Educations National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), 10% of all public schools had one or more serious violent crimes (murder, rape, sexual battery, suicide, physical attack or fight with a weapon, or robbery), and most of the serious violent crimes occurred in the middle and high schools (Kelly n pag). School uniforms and dress codes should be mandatory for all students enrolled in public schools because they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These schools do not have gangs or violence, so the school uniforms are not really changing much. However, in areas that do have a large number of gangs and violent crimes, such as big city public schools, a dress code is not being adopted. These clothing related crimes are mostly seen in a high crime area, yet nothing is being done to solve these problems. School uniforms would decrease violence in many public schools because they would reduce the amount of theft that may occur, the amount of bullying that occurs on a daily basis, and the amount of attempted or successful murders that occur. Uniforms would reduce the amount of theft that occurs because every student would be wearing the same clothing. If every student is wearing the same article of clothing, students would not be tempted to steal clothing, shoes, or jewelry from one another. Uniforms would also make every student feel a sense of equality. School uniforms would reduce the amount of bullying that occurs because they would be mandatory for every student; they would limit so called tough guys from making fun of students who are weaker or who do not have the brand name clothes, and are less fortunate than other students. The amount of attempted or successful murders would also decrease due to the inability to wear baggy clothes or trench coats where they may easily be able to hide weapons. For example, The California Department of Education states

In words of Kast and Rosenzweig, structure is the established pattern of relationships among the component parts of the organization. Advantages and Disadvantages There are both advantages and disadvantages of the matrix structure; some of the disadvantages are an increase in the complexity of the chain of command. This occurs because of the dif ferentiation between functional managers and project managers, which can be confusing for employees to understand who is next in the chain of command. An additional disadvantage of the matrix structure is higher manager to worker ratio that results in conf licting loyalties of employees. However the matrix structure also has significant advantages that make it valuable for companies to use. The matrix structure improves upon the silo critique of functional management in that it diminishes the vertical stru cture of functional and creates a more horizontal structure which allows the spread of information across task boundaries to happen much quicker. Moreover, matrix structure allows for specialization that can increase depth of knowledge allows individuals to be chosen according to project needs. • 5. Abortion Should Not Be Legal Skylar Brister, Michael Clemmons, Ebony Moore Johnson TOK 10.30.15 Abortion Abortion has been around for thousands of years. Abortion was legal in the United states from the time the first settlers arrived. Abortion was legal until in the mid 1800s laws were beginning to be passed to make abortion illegal. All surgical procedures during the mid to late 1800s were extremely dangerous due to the lack of sterilized equipment and the untrained physicians who performed the procedures. The mortality rate of mother and infant during the birthing process was ridiculously high without today s technology. Like every outlawed thing in the world, there was a back alley market for outlawed abortion procedures. The strongest force behind the repealing of the laws that made abortion illegal was the doctors who wanted to establish for themselves exclusive rights to practice medicine. These doctors wanted to prevent midwives, apothecaries, and homeopaths from competing for payment and patients. In 1910, all but one state had made abortion a criminal act except for in the scenario where an abortion was necessary to save the mother s life, in that case, it was considered a physician s only decision. Even though abortion was made illegal, many women still sought abortions, therefore the abortion rate did not decrease. Between the time period of 1880 to 1973 thousands of women were harmed during or from illegal abortions. Some people were fortunate enough to get safer yet still illegal

  • 7. Energy Sources Of Renewable Biomass I. INTRODUCTION As an abundant, inexpensive, and renewable as well as environmentally friendly (i.e. CO2 neutral) energy source, biomass energy has been a particular focus of researcher and policy makers as well as industries around the world (Chen, 2003). Renewable biomass presents an important research area for energy source, considering the current global crises of exhaustible sources of energy. Bioenergy is the 4th largest source of energy in the world, and it does not contribute to the global warming through emissions of CO2 or any other green house gases. Biomass pyrolysis has witnessed exponential growth in its research and has been investigated extensively in the last few decades, first in the form of fixed bed reactors and later in the form of moving bed reactors (fluidized bed, auger bed etc). As the combustion of solid biomass is analogous to the combustion of other solid fuels, such as coal and waste, essentially the same technology is applicable to all solid fuels, although modifications are required to handle the high content of moisture and volatiles typically associated with biomass fuels (Duffy Eaton, 2013). In this paper, which reviews the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis of fixed/moving bed solid gas reactors, biomass pyrolysis, gasification and combustion has been the focus of the study. Combustion of biomass in the presence of carrier gases like N2 etc has been extensively studied, with focus being on the numerical or CFD models which have

Fast Food Nation, written by Eric Schlosser, includes topics about fast food chains impact on the community, jobs relating to fast food, and health issues. Fast Food Nation uses logic to appeal to the aspects of fast food chains by giving relatable examples from the devastating effects on the communities to the millions of jobs offered for our country. Moreover, fast food chains have contributed positivity to society, but with dire consequences. Are fast food chains always the best choice? Eric Schlosser presents us with some ways in which the fast food industry changes communities for the worse. He provides examples like the town of Greeley, Colorado, as well as other places, whose communities have been irrevocably changed by the fast food industry when slaughterhouses and meatpacking plants set up shop there. The fast food chains vast purchasing power and their demand for a uniform product have encouraged fundamental changes in how cattle are raised, slaughtered, and processed into ground beef. These changes have made meatpacking once a highly skilled, highly paid occupation into the most dangerous job in the United States, performed by armies of poor, transient immigrants whose injuries often go unrecorded and uncompensated. And the same meat industry practices that endanger these workers have facilitated the introduction of deadly pathogens,

Irony is also evident in the sentence Let s face it: do people really believe that someone who cross dresses as the opposite sex can actually be brave or strong? This sentence is ironic because it takes a great deal of strength bravery for transgender people to express themselves and show the world who they truly are. The satire also uses exaggeration, like in the writings of Jonathan Swift. For example, the satire says, These cross dressing freaks are little more than a circus sideshow attraction. This is exaggeration because although transgender people do cross dress, they are not necessarily circus freaks . They are real people who think and have feelings like those who are gender secure. These people are not sideshow attraction freaks who exist exclusively for people s entertainment. International Business And Internet Law Essay Flora Schulte Nordholt Sassi Nida Bhagat International Business and Internet Law Duo assignments (2000 words) Assignment 3 Thomas van Essen Dutch Supermarket moves cross border In this paper we would like to advise the Dutch supermarket chain on their plans of expanding their services globally. The supermarket chain wants to do this by means of an online platform service from which customers can order their groceries. They will have local distribution centers where the groceries will be delivered from. Customers must create an online account to order groceries. By creating the online account customers are required to give up personal information. Big data is often regarded as the currency of today s digital economy. Collected, analyzed and moved across the globe, personal data has acquired enormous economic significance and it s more than understandable that the supermarket aspires to follow the trend. The key challenge in relation to cross border data transfers lies in the differences in approach to privacy protection across the world. However, more and more countries follow the European model when keeping local privacy laws up to date and call for harmonization of data protection laws on a global level. It is important that the supermarket performs a careful consideration of the European Union (EU) data protection requirements before it initiates a cross border data flow to determine which data protection requirements exist for them based on national data

It also states that no warrants shall be issued without probable cause. Probable cause can be defined as a person of reasonable caution who believes that a crime has been committed and the person accused has committed that crime. Modern law has afforded police officers an incentive to respect this amendment, known as the stop and frisk act. Terry and Richard Chilton, standing on a street corner looking suspicious. One would walk by a certain store window, stare in, and walk back to the other to confer. This was repeated several times, and the detective believed that they were plotting to do a store robbery. The officer approached the men and addressed himself as a policeman, and asked their names. When the men appeared suspicious in their answers, Officer McFadden patted them down and discovered that both men were armed. He proceeded to remove their guns and arrested them for carrying concealed weapons. Terry was then sentenced to three years in prison. Terry appealed the case, claiming that the guns found should be inadmissible in court proceedings as evidence since his Fourth Amendment rights were violated. The case was appealed to the Supreme Court, where it was it was ruled that his rights had not been violated. Bokonon explains his reasons for creating the lies on which his religion is founded; he makes the peoples lives more wholesome. People have always searched for meaning, meaning that science has not been able to provide them with. So the people therefore turn to higher forms of meaning, i.e. religion; despite the fact that it s constructed to give meaning when no such meaning exists. Bokonon s reason why man searched for meaning in life is as follows: And God created every living creature that now moveth, and one was man. Mud as man alone could speak. God leaned close as mud as man sat up, looked around, and spoke. Man blinked. What is the purpose of all this? he asked politely. Everything must have a purpose? asked God. Certainly, said man. Then I leave you to think of one for all this, said God, and he went away (265). While all states do require residents to remit the taxes owed in the form of use tax payments, few people send in use tax forms, rendering remote sales essentially tax free. And, heck, there s always a chance that we ll win, so you might as well do what we want now and not take any chances Argument Against Internet Sales Taxes Remote Sales and Taxation Issue In a series of opinions, the Supreme Court has ruled that states cannot compel firms without a substantial nexus within the taxing state to collect and remit use taxes. The most important cases are National Bellas Hess, Inc. v. Department of Revenue of Ill. and Quill Corp. North Dakota. Substantial nexus has been interpreted to mean a physical presence, and precludes states from requiring vendors whose only connection to the state is by mail, phone, or Internet to remit taxes. In their 1992 decision in Quill, the court ruled that requiring out of state vendors to collect the use

Suzan Muzafar Professor John Wang English 170W October 13, 2014 The concepts of nature, humanity, power and love lay as a foundation for Shakespeare s, King Lear. These notions are examined through the actions and realizations of King Lear, himself. Throughout the discourse of this play we view the portrayal of humans as animals and witness King Lear s mistreatment after he gives away his power. When doing so he makes clear his view on love and its value, solely based on the flattery of words.Through nature, King Lear becomes grounded and recognizes the animalistic behaviors of the rich and the struggles of the poor. This recognition brings him to an utmost discovery that presents the reality of vicious humanity and changes the way he views the world. Nature plays the utmost largest role in this play. We can begin with the orating of nature through Lear relinquishing his crown and dividing his power among his daughters. It is here that Lear states his intentions to shake all cares and business from our age, (l.l.40) in order to unburthened crawl towards death. (l.l.42) Although, it was not in the intentions of King Lear to wreak havoc on his kingdom, he did so by relinquishing his crown. Therefore, subsequently leading his kingdom to an ironic flow of catastrophic events. It was impossible for Lear to stop being king due to the fact that it was his rightful position and he acknowledges this by stating: Hear me, recreant! On thine allegiance, hear me!

The United States has the highest rate in Autism in the world. Glyphosate again plays a major role in the large amount of cases. This was proven by a study conducted by Dr. Huber, a professor emeritus from Purdue University. Dr. Huber tested on rats being fed non GMO then switched to GMO feed. At the beginning of the study when the rats were being fed organically made food were very passive and friendly but after a month of being fed GM food they became easily irritated and would not get along with one another. This proved that the psychological and behavioral well being of rats was affected by their food and they showed similar symptoms and behaviors to those diagnosed with Autism. In figure 1, the correlation between the increase of glyphosate and Autism is very clear. If America wants to decrease the amount of cases of Autism per year, the ban of GMOs would be very beneficial. It would also promote a healthier diet as organic food would increase in number and lower in price. Due to the mass production of cheap corn and soy in America, other food industries that produce healthier fruits and vegetables decrease in number. Importing healthy fruits and vegetables from other countries is unnecessarily expensive and that raises the prices of healthy foods in the market, which discourages many lower class families from eating the recommended daily fruit and

They were people of intellect, higher power, and prophecies. What they are most known for are their oracle bones. These were either made of tortoise shell or cattle scapula. As to why they chose these specific animals and bones, whether it was a religious, or symbol for a deity or could have been a large population of these animals, no one knows. The king would attend the ritual of the divination by fire, where he would ask the deities a question as to why a specific event had occurred or a demand, such as requesting a fertile year. The diviner would then answer the question or demand translated through the cracks after setting the inscribed bone into the fire. These translations could then say whether the gods were pleased, displeased, the reason a certain event or disaster occurred. The deity the Shang King would mostly contact through these oracle bones was the the Higher God, Di. The relationship with the Shang and Di, the High God, based on the analysis of the oracle bones was less paternal in the sense that the Chinese did not see their god as benevolent. The Chinese viewed Di and the others as to be feared, but also to be respected. The deities to the Shang were hierarchical, in the way they did not per say love the Shang the way Christians see their god. However, worshipping Di, such as sacrifices and holding rituals in their honor was a big part of
