Geographical Benefits Of Eurasia Essay
The geographical advantages of Eurasia allowed civilizations to develop productive
agriculture, and domesticated animals as a result the Europeans had food surplus,
developed immunity to epidemic diseases, and forged steel. These inherited advantages
allowed them to decimate other civilizations and appropriate their resources making them
even more powerful.
Agriculture is only one of the many contributes to where we are today. Geographic
location affects agriculture because each specific crop has needs, if you can t meet
those needs, then you can t grow the crops. Some plants need super wet land and some
need super dry land ,let s say you live in Papua New Guinea they live closer the the
equator so they have the same weather year round. So if you re constantly getting the
same amount of sunlight all year then you ll only be able to grow the same crops over
and over again. Papua New Guinea had sago, to get sago people there would have to
cut down the sago tree, cut the sago tree in half and collect the sago inside. With sago
you have to have a wet climate, the sago tree takes three or four days to prepare. Sago
does not last long after it is prepared, sago is low in protein and uses more calories then
it gives. But Fertile Crescent on the other hand live farther from the equator, so they end
up getting four seasons while rotating around the sun.Which leads to an advantage in
almost everything. A change in weather four times a year gives them a chance to plant
and grow

identify the competitive advantages, target market(s), strategies, tactics, budgets, and
schedule and evaluation methodologies. Describe how you will increase your marketing
performance through creative and innovative tactics.
Answer: To promote the promotional event of Frizzy Drink, I will use certain strategies

will help the product in getting recognition. By adopting few of the significant steps, the
marketing plan would be very useful to promote the event
Pricing: The pricing of the product is the most important part in marketing plan to
promote the product in the event. Price of the product should be according to the
customers and the budget and costing of the product. Do not demand excessive profit,
it will lessen the demand of the product. The budgeting of the product is also very
important in pricing. Never use excessively expensive products that will increase the
product rate and customers feel reluctant in buying it due to high prices. $3 to $4 would
be very appropriate for the price of per unit.
Proper Marketing of the Product:
Proper marketing plan will ensure in making the product successful. Campaigns would
be carried out to promote the frizzy drinks on different forums including public
recreational areas, malls and offices. The event will cater a proper marketing strategy in

Distortions of the Daniel Boone Legend and Their Impact...
Distortions of the Daniel Boone Legend and Their Impact
[1] The silent film, With Daniel Boone Thru the Wilderness, was produced in 1926: a
time of prosperity, an era without the skepticism of the modern American mind. People
were not yet questioning the stories and histories they had been taught as children. The
entertaining story told in this Robert North Bradbury film is loosely based on the life of
an American hero. However, the presence of several insidiously inaccurate historical
representations demonstrates how an entertaining film might not be as innocent as it
initially seems. This film fails to question certain key issues concerning the Daniel Boone
legend. In fact, it does quite the opposite. The creators of this ... Show more content on

What is going on here?
[3] Perhaps the answer lies within a series of other, more precise questions. Who was
the real Daniel Boone? Why was this person chosen over other similar frontiersmen by
early hagiographers to be the next American hero? Who distorted the story of Boone s
life and why? What societal factors went into the making of the Boone legend? Why was
this legend still immensely popular in the 20th century? How did With Daniel Boone
Thru the Wilderness represent, or misrepresent, the story of Daniel Boone, and why is
that important? What does all of this mean to Americans today as this nation continues to
redefine itself in the early years of the new millennium?
[4] That is a lot to consider, but with good cause. Only by asking the tough questions
and demanding accountability can a nation hope to correct its past wrongs, learn from
its mistakes, and prevent similar injustices from occurring again. This process must
begin by taking a new, more responsible look at history. Only when the facts are
gathered from every possible perspective can one begin to truly comprehend history and
its importance. What, then, are the facts behind the Daniel Boone legend? (To learn

and continuing long after his death, several authors published authentic
The Film Analysis Of The Movie The Patriot
The Patriot
The Patriot is known as this action packed, adventurous movie, and most americans
have watched this movie despite the fact of its inaccuracies, also depicting america as
great and the british as bad. This movie takes place in 1776, this was before the
declaration of independence was signed and a idea was proposed about breaking away
from the king and initiating a new nation was great but arguable. Not all the americans
wanted to be independent from Great Britain, there was separation between the rebels
and the colonials ,the rebels that wanted have to freedom and the Colonials that wanted
to stay faithful to the king, america was nowhere near to united. The boston incident
turned into a civil war. Later on, loyalists saw the british military as a authorized army,
therefore loyalists joining the army because they were nationalistic like the rebels.
However, in the movie they point out one loyalist because in the movie The Patriot they
depict the americans in a positive light because if they stuck to true history they couldn t
do that and would make the americans look bad.
The filmmakers modified the history to put them in positive light for example they
created this American hero named Benjamin Martin they depict him to be this
heroic, flawless hero but in fact he is not even a person in history he is a made up
fictional character based on francis marion and made up of other historical figures.
Furthermore, they showed america united when in fact they were
Argumentative Essay On RAW
I haven t watched a full episode of RAW in over three months. I catch up by way of
clips on Twitter, and I skim through Hulu s already abridged version. I spend most of
my time perusing the promos, the skits, and whatever vignettes there may be. I cram
the broad strokes of the larger narratives so I can pass whatever WWE quiz comes my
way. With SmackDown included, I ve condensed my WWE viewership into about
thirty minutes a week. And if there s a pay per view, then that duration increases. The
result is that I m a much happier human being, and I m a lot easier to be around. I don t
obsess about booking decisions. I don t bicker with anyone online. I don t care about
anyone s criticism of my criticisms. The imagined judgments of some phantom... Show

For some, that degree of immersion will always work. And the fact that people can do
that regardless of whether they should or not is a part of pro wrestling s appeal. I
understand and respect that devotion, even if it gives me pause at the same time. But
extremes aren t as useful in the long term. That degree of constant engagement weighs
on all human minds. It affects one s ability to calmly and coherently witness what they
re experiencing. In any diehard environment, criticism becomes unreliable because
critical thinking doesn t exist. This problem is why I ve found stepping away from
watching and critiquing RAW so useful. When I turned RAW on last night before bed,
I saw aspects of the show that I d always criticized in a new light. My general
perspective hadn t changed, of course. I didn t all the sudden enjoy segments I used to
hate and hate the ones I used to enjoy. But I could process the information in a more
coherent way. In the past, I ve been relentless in my disdain for backstage segments. I
ve been lamenting their existence since before I had this blog or my podcast. I ve
likened them to the visual version of a cheap pop and screamed that they have no place on
The Importance Of Superheroes
There are many vital roles superheroes play in people s lives all around the world.
Superheroes are iconic, fictional characters that carry superhuman powers and abilities
and typically saves the world from evil villains. Society highly values superheroes
because they have extraordinary powers and traits, a strong moral code, sense of
responsibilities, distinctive costumes, a lair, a large quantity of enemies, and many more
interesting characteristics. People admire or idolize superheroes because they obtain
feelings that connect to their alter ego life problems such as financial stress, family
losses, and etc. in which relate to the basic, everyday struggles that normal humans face.
Superheroes became an eminent part of popular cultureas they became role model
figures for children, American society became obsessed with fictional characters, and
the evolution or how they came to be in the industry of movies, cartoons, and comics.
Superheroes give children a perfect, utopian, fantasy life and a heroic figure to look
up to. Children look up to superheroes because they fight evil villains also known as
the antagonist, which make them so popular. Superheroes teach that power does not
corrupt if one uses it wisely. For instance; they take on bad guys in order to save and
make good choices for the world. As a kid or in one s childhood, it is important to be
risk taking and adventuresome and superheroes play a major role in their lives because
of this. In order to get away from reality, superheroes widen or bolster children s
creativity and imaginations by allowing them to have a fictional life or identity. They
give children the opportunity to envision life as a superheroand having power to do
remarkable duties. Superhero movies and cartoons are both very parental approved and
age appropriate which is why they are family friendly recommended. They teach the
youth morals and values because they respect the superhero qualities that not only
children, but everyone should embody. Superheroes are popular today because they
teach kids life learning lessons in a fun, captivating way. American society has gained a
superhero craze because they make the best choices that real humans are not capable of.
Compare And Contrast Jekyll And Hyde
Compare and Contrast Two Presentations of the Urban Experience London by William
Blake is a poem composed of four quatrains with rhyming lines. The Strange Case of
Dr Jekyll and Dr Hyde is a mystery novel by Robert Louis Stevenson. Both of these
presentations are written in the 1800 s in London. Blake and Stevenson find London
awful and they are tired of everything that is bad about the city. The writers portray a
nightmarish imagery of the urban experience through these two texts mostly during the
midnight streets . Blake s poem, London represent how the city life has taken away the
freedom of the people. Blake uses skills of alliteration, imagery, and word choice to
create his poem. In the first two stanzas, Blake uses repetition to... Show more content on

young girls becoming sinful at a young age, soldiers sigh for bad fortune. Blake also
shows how the society has become slaves in mind forged manacles . The society has

novel, two crimes of violence against innocent to helpless citizens took place, first, a

Reflective essay -Counselling session
Introduction. In this reflective essay I will provide an analysis of the counselling
session I conducted and recorded. This will include a summary of the session. I will
also describe the micro and advanced counselling skills utalised, as well as a critical
evaluation of their effectiveness. A discussion of my application of these skills, as
well as areas of possible improvement will supported by reference to relevant literature.
Summary of the session. Leesa is a 37 year old woman who I have seen around four

of her hopes of securing a promotion. Leesa s presentation was one of lethargy consistent

It also conveyed that I was empathetic towards her situation. Geldard and Geldard
(2009) explain that minimal responses not only convey that the counselor is listening,
they can also be used to convey a message, such as surprise, agreement or even to
challenge what has been said. The meaning of these minimal responses is also
influenced greatly upon the delivery of them. Tone of voice, facial expression, posture
and eye movement all help to determine the way in which these messages are received.
An example of a minimal response I made that conveyed empathy would have been;
when the client was describing her feelings of not being respected in her workplace and
I responded by saying: sounds horrible . This short response did not interrupt the flow of
conversation, and encouraged the client to continue. My tone of voice and facial
expressions were also congruent with someone who empathized and was interested in
what was being said. Reflective Listening. Summarising, paraphrasing and reflection of
feelings are all examples of counselling micro skills that let the client know that the
counselor is listening and understanding them correctly. Although it is important to try to
respond accurately it is not essential as an incorrect response can encourage the client to
re think what they have said and then clarify it, possibly resulting
The Wagner Act Essays
In 1934, the Wagner Act was first introduced, also called the National Labor Relations
Act (NLRB), it promised to ensure a wise distribution of wealth between management
and labor, to maintain a full flow of purchasing power, and to prevent recurrent
depressions. (Babson, p. 85) During the mid 1930 s organized labor and the United
States Government struck a deal. It was the time of Franklin D. Roosevelt. A volatile
time, the country was attempting to recover from a depression, unemployment was at an
all time high and organized labor was struggling for its own existence. Vast numbers of

With no relief in sight, society had nothing to lose and everything to gain by fighting
back. Workers saw that businesses and businessmen continued to get rich and mover
further ahead in life, while the working class began to fall further down the economic
ladder with little or no hope of advancement within society. The solidarity amongst the
unemployed is a key factor which cannot be ignored by historians and scholars, and that
impetus could have propelled labor forward. For the first time, America had seen mass
demonstrations across the country centering on a central issue, unemployment.
Unemployment councils were prevalent within many of the major metropolitan centers
across the country, and they became the proponent for the wize of the American worker.
Numerous rallies and demonstrations were staged by those councils, and when it came
to the issue of unemployment there were no perceived boundaries amongst citizens
based on ethnicity, race or religion. The barriers which had stymied the growth of the
labor movement had temporarily disappeared. However, as powerful as these councils
could have been, there was no co ordination amongst the various centers in relation to the
public protest. Communities and individuals were becoming mobilized and they too
began to learn the importance of being organized and working together collectively and
disregarding any self imposed barriers along the lines
Essay about My Mission Trip to the Dominican Republic
It was a hot, searing day as the sun beat down on my skin. The lush green palm trees
provided me shade as I sat and observed my surroundings. Children, barefoot and dirty,
wearing tattered and stained clothes were running around laughing and playing. Their
joyous giggles put a smile on my face and warmed my heart as I watched them. It was
my first time in the Dominican Republic, away from my parents and traveling alone. It
was also my first mission trip and I loved every minute of it. As I sat and looked around
the village of slums and shacks, I saw that the people were so giving and friendly. They
had next to nothing, and yet they were still volunteering to give more.
I met a young girl who was thirteen years of age, sweet and ... Show more content on

The day before we left I was sitting under that same tree that provided the much
appreciated shade just a few days earlier. She came up to me and quietly spoke in
Spanish; her voice was as soft as a feather. I could tell she was holding something in her
hands, something small enough that her fist was closed tightly around it. First she gave
me a hug and said Tengo un regalo para ti , which means I have a gift for you. I was
touched that she would even think to give me anything.
All of a sudden, I felt her sweaty fingers against my wrist. I looked down and saw her
black, precious hands tying a strand of beads to my wrist. It was a bracelet made of
black, sparkly beads and transparent beads, strung together by a piece of black string.
She began to tell me that she prayed over the bracelet and for me, because I helped her
and had formed a friendship with her. The words she spoke touched my heart deeply.
As I examined the bracelet, her choice of colors struck me. I found it interesting that
she chose black and white beads. It reminded me of our friendship, she has black skin, I
have white, and we both felt so close with each other. Just as the beads on the string were
intertwined and touching each other, we had touched one another s lives.
I later found out that she took the week s grocery money to go down to the market to

Hume s Skeptical View Of Causality
Kant tackled Hume s skeptical view of causality. In Kants mind, causality is a central
example of a category or pure concept of the understanding. Moreover, because Hume s
famous discussion of causality and induction is equally central to his philosophy,
understanding the relationship between the two philosophers on this issue is crucial for a
proper understanding of modern philosophymore generally. Yet ever since Kant offered
his response to Hume the topic has been subject to intense controversy. There is no
consensus, of course, over whether Kant s response succeeds, but there is no more
consensus about what this response is supposed to be.
So this is basically where the two philosophers begin to intertwine.

Kant s ideas present a few questions:
The nature of appearances. Are they (as Kant sometimes suggests) identical to
representations, i.e., states of our minds? If so, does Kant follow Berkeley in equating
bodies (objects in space) with ideas (representations)? If not, what are they, and what
relation do they have to our representations of them?
The nature of things in themselves. What can we say positively about them? What does
it mean that they are not in space and time? How is this claim compatible with the
doctrine that we cannot know anything about them? How is the claim that they affect us
compatible with that doctrine? Is Kant committed to the existence of things in
themselves, or is the concept of a thing in itself merely the concept of a way objects
might be (for all we know)?
The relation of things in themselves to appearances. Is the appearance/thing in itself
distinction an ontological one between two different kinds of objects? If not, is it a
distinction between two aspects of one and the same kind of object? Or perhaps an
adverbial distinction between two different ways of considering the same
Circumcision As An Initiation Into The Jewish Community
Circumcision has be a topic that has been discussed and debated for centuries. This
childhood ritual has had evolving purposes and has been used in numerous cultures.
This research paper will be specifically focused on the male circumcision as an
initiation into the Jewish community as one of its members. It will also discuss the
other childhood ritual of introducing the Torah on cakes baked with honey. There are
many questions associated with this topics and many myths as well. What is
circumcision? Why introduce the Torah to boys on cakes? What does it represent? How
has it changed over time? What connection if any, does it have to Christianity? Does it
involve ritual sacrifice? Is this practice still around today, and if so how has it... Show

Genesis states that the first person to be circumcised was Abraham. God had told
Abraham to not only circumcise himself, but his children, his slaves, and any males in
his household as well. This was a practice that was to be done from generation to
generation. In early history during BCE, this was used as a way to separate the Israelites
from the Philistines. Years earlier, there wasn t much difference between the Israelite
community and its neighboring people. But with the arrival of the Philistines changed
how they identified themselves as a separate group of people. As time progresses, so do
the opinions when it comes to circumcision.
There was a huge threat to the Jewish tradition due to the efforts of Jews to cover their
marks of circumcision. Assimilation into the communities that Jews lived in was a
common challenge. Keeping with tradition when living in a community that wasn t
always accepting, was difficult. Especially when it was sometimes punished greatly.
Because circumcision was strongly associated with Judaism, many Jews would try to
remove the marks of this ritual off of their bodies. During the rule of Antiochus IV
Epiphanes, there was great crisis for the Jews that were living in Jerusalem. Previously,
Antiochus III allowed Jews to live according to their customs, but that was different
under the rule of Antiochus IV. There was bans on religious traditions and even
violations of temples. Because of Antiochus IV

case of Marbury v: Madison is historic for the judicial review. It shows how long it s

members of congress, the president and the constitution. It explains how they come into

how much of a role the Supreme Court plays. Members of the Congress, and Presidents

Facts About The Best Evidence Rule
The best evidence rule is a rule that applies when someone wants to admit some form
of evidence that is a document but the actual original document is not available for
admission. Unfortunately, when this happen the party that wants to admit the evidence
has to give an acceptable excuse to why the original documents are unavailable or
absent. Therefore, the courts has to decide if the excuse is acceptable and allow the
party to use their secondary evidence in order to prove their case or that the content of
the document in order for it to be admissible as evidence in the case. Unlike, any other

Therefore, the U.S. court system implemented this rule but if one party suspects that the
copy or copies have been altered or it s a fraud than this comes into play for that case.
The rationale behind its application was to find the best evidence within a case but
due to fraud and the mishandling of evidence this rule was created. It helps to prevent
anyone from trying to mislead or even lie about a certain piece of evidence.
Furthermore, it eliminates anyone from having to guess if in fact that the evidence is
from the actual original copy of if some part of the evidence had been changed at some
point in order to get a guilty or innocent verdict in the case.

that each one of these case dealt with wiretapping and whether it was legal for the

Olmstead v. United States individuals were convicted of liquor related crimes to include
conspiracy. Now the main person in the conspiracy was the general manager of the

Abstract Siamese twins are twins that bodies are attached together at birth. There are

Separation is a life threatening and it is extremely dangerous, especially if they are

results of the surgeries were death of one or both the twins (2). Ben Carson, an American
professor of neurosurgery, oncology and surgery, made a medical history by being the
first surgeon who successfully separate conjoined twins (6,8,2). They were craniopagus

condition known as parasitic twinning or asymmetric conjoined twins happens when one

An Outline Of The Different Aspects Of Concrete
According to Tam (2002) concrete is a commonly used construction material in most
parts of the world. There are many different types, strengths, and compositions of concrete
and all of them have different characteristics that make them perform better for different
applications. The following report is an outline of the different aspects of concreteitself. It

Concrete is a mixture of cement, fine aggregate, coarse aggregate and water in
controlled proportions and of a suitable quality. (Chudley R and Greeno R: 2006).
3.2 Concrete Constituents
3.2.1 Cement
Cement in a concrete mix acts as a glue that binds together the other constituents of
concrete. It is therefore important that the addition of cement in concrete be in
appropriate proportions, meaning that it should comply with the necessary standards
(SANS, SABS) so that the correct type of cement is added to suit the application of the
concrete mix and also to ensure that enough is added. Cement when mixed with water,
reacts chemically with the water to form a rigid mass that binds the aggregate particles
together to make concrete.
Types of cements
I.Ordinary Portland cement: this is by far the most used type of cement and is used for all
usual concrete work.
II.Rapid Hardening cement: this type of cement is used when the development of high

Women in The Duchess of Malfi and The Changeling Essay
The Duchess in John Webster s tragic play, The Duchess of Malfi, and Beatrice Joanna
in Thomas Middleton and William Rowley s The Changeling, are both strong women
living in a male dominated society. The two women attempt to free themselves from
this subordination by choosing to love that they desire. Both pay with their lives for
this chance at freedom, but differ in their moral decisions about how they attempt it.
Beatrice Joanna s plan involves murder, whereas the widowed Duchess merely lives the
life she chooses, then plots to leave Malfi. Both women are forced into their actions,
but, whereas Beatrice Joanna is Machiavellian in her actions, the Duchess is morally
superior. Webster based his play on a real life 16th... Show more content on

It is her brothers, Ferdinand and the Cardinal, who are murderous and immoral in their
plot to save the family reputation and inheritance. It is they who are consumed with
aristocratic pride. It is their sibling jealousy and male pride that causes them to kill the
Duchess. From the onset of the play the Duchess is described as noble and virtuous.
Antonio says: Her days are practiced in such noble virtue That sure her nights nay, more,
her very sleeps Are more in heaven than other ladies schrifts (1.1.201). She is sexually
confident and outgoing, and views marriage as a positive, loving venture. On the
contrary, her brothers see marriage as a prison for women and a playhouse for men.
The Cardinal believes The marriage night/Is entrance into some prison (1.1.326), and
Ferdinand views it as the males time for sex when he says And those joys,/Those
lustful pleasures, are like heavy sleeps/Which do forerun man s mischief (1.1. 328).
The Duchess defies society s view of marriage. She marries the second time for love,
but only after she has had an active sex life, and three children. Furthermore, it is she
who proposes to Antonio, and it is she who puts a ring on his finger. When he kneels
before her, she helps him up. Here marriage is not a contract where husband is superior
to wife, but rather
Charactersitics of a Museum, Questions and Answers
1.What are, in your opinion, the characteristics of the museum idea?
As I remember from my travelling experience, a museum exists in each city, even the
smallest one and sometimes even in villages. Visiting a museum at least once a year is a
compulsory part of any school programme in my country, Russia. However, what is a
museum? What are reasons for its existing? Who and how chooses display units for
exhibitions from the huge variety of items in the world?
All these questions can be answered if to determine the characteristics of the museum
idea. Museums are public instituitons. Their number has increased and their role has
transformed over the last fifty years. They attract a great number of people, from tourists
to citizens, from children to adults. However, in order to understand which institution can
be called a museum, it is necessary to examine the main objectives of its existence.
The most obvious aim is an educational one since museums serve for society in order to
conserve, research and communicate material evidence of people and their environment.
Museums give people the opportunity to determine their place in the world, understand
their cultural identity, develop self respect and respect for others. Nethertheless, to
conduct this educational mission, careful and meaningful selection of objects is required.
After being chosen, all the items need to be preserved for future generations under proper
conserving conditions such as good light, air conditioning,
A Child, Act Like An Adult
Austin Benfield

22 November 2015
Think Like a Child, Act like an Adult.
As a child you anticipated growing up, and as an adult you want to be young again. It s
true that some people are more mature than others, and some people are a child at heart.
Child life and adult life have two very different and distinct perspectives. A child s
perspective sheds light on the importance of imagination, creativity, and curiosity; An
adult perspective unveils the importance of self control, free thinking, and
responsibilities. We all know that children learn pretty much everything from adults, but
many adults can learn valuable lessons from children.
It s no secret that children have a wild sense of imagination. According to Dr.Stephanie
Carlson, expert on childhood brain development at the University of Minnesota, children
spend up to в…” of their time in non reality, imaginative play . Whether it is drawing a
picture, playing a game, or pretending, kids are constantly using their imagination. All of
this is healthy and builds their cognitive development, ability to gather knowledge
through thought, experience, and senses. As children grow up, they move from a realm
of imagination to the real world, reality. Adults don t play pretend, make up stories, or
use their imagination as much because it s considered immature and regarded as strange
or weird. Not only is it healthy to actively use your imagination, but it makes you into a
more inventive person. According
Jfk and the Warren Commission
On 22 November 1963, President John F Kennedy was shot dead as he took part in a
motorcade through the streets of Dallas, Texas. Soon afterwards a man named Lee
Harvey Oswald was arrested and accused of having shot Kennedy from the sixth floor
of the Texas school Depository building . Even though Oswald refused to co operate and
denied all knowledge of the assassination, he was formerly charged the next day, on the
23 November. However, he never stood trial as just two days later Oswald himself was
shot dead by Jack Ruby, a Dallas night club owner, as he was being taken from police
headquarters to court. As Jack Ruby went to prison and the police had no longer a
suspect to question, President Lyndon Baines Johnson, set up a committee led... Show

However the events that took place afterwards, played an important part in Oswalds
conviction. This incident was another murder, this time of a policeman, Officer J D
Tipppit, who was shot through the head at point blank range. A witness, Mrs Helen
Markham, stated that Tippit had stopped to question a man who produced a gun and
shot Tippit before running off. Oswald was charged for Tippit s murder as ballistics
confirmed that the spent cartridges found beside Tippit s body were of the type used
in the .38 Smith and Wesson revolver found on Oswald when he was arrested. Mrs
Markham also identified Oswald from an identity parade as the murderer. This
incident indicated that Oswald was indeed capable of murder. There also didn t appear
to be any clear motive for the murder and the police presumed that Oswald had
panicked and had shot Tippit when he had stopped to question him. But why had
Oswald panicked? He may have been on edge if he had just murdered the President and
could have overreacted!
All this evidence against Oswald and the overwhelming number of eyewitnesses that had
come forward, was enough to find Oswald guilty of murder at the time. However, the
Warren Commission also investigated Oswalds background and found that he was a
strange and enigmatic figure. It was evident that he had a fairly unstable and troubled
past, which to most people accounted for his behaviour and the manner in which he had

One can also consider why there are now so many overnight mail carriers such as
United Parcel Service and Airborne Express. The second example pertains to the exit
from an industry, specifically, the airline industry in the United States. Pan Am, a pioneer
in public air transportation, is no longer in operation, while some airlines such as TWA
(Trans World Airlines) are on the verge of exiting the airlines industry. Why, then, have
many airlines that operate on international routes fallen on hard times, while small
regional airlines seem to be doing just fine? Managerial economics provides answers to
these questions.
In order to answer pertinent questions, managerial economics applies economic
theories, tools, and techniques to administrative and business decision making. The first
step in the decision making process is to collect relevant economic data carefully and to
organize the economic information contained in data collected in such a way as to
establish a clear basis for managerial decisions. The goals of the particular business
organization must then be clearly spelled out. Based on these stated goals, suitable
managerial objectives are formulated. The issue of central concern in the decision
making process is that the desired objectives be reached in the best possible manner. The
term best in the decision making context primarily refers to achieving the goals in the
most efficient
Child Soldiers Prosecuted
Child soldiers have and still are a big problem in our world. These children suffer
everyday from the pain and torture they experienced at war. Most child soldiers are
drugged and are not aware of what they are doing. They were involuntarily chosen to
commit terrible crimes and were threatened if they did not do otherwise. Many are
terrified of these threats. Although many say that childsoldiers will never change, they
will never change if we never help them. These child soldiers should not be prosecuted
or punished and instead be helped for all the trauma they have experienced. They should
have the opportunity to be helped after being drugged and scarred, after being raped,

they should be prosecuted. But these children had no idea what they were doing, they

she must also be considered too young to be held criminally responsible for serious

Female Characters In Marie De France And The Wife Of Bath
In Lanval, the women characters revealed Marie de France s personal moral convictions
and her philosophical autonomy. Different female characters had role in her story such as
the mythical fairy women and the queen as she was demonstrated as manipulative and
lustful because they used their beauty and status for their personal benefit. Generally,
Marie de Frances explained various points such as beauty, love, and manipulation.
Similarly, in The Wife of Bath, Geoffrey Chaucerillustrates the significance of women
role, yet they had a different power usage in persuading. The women characters use
alternative methods in expressing their role and empowerment that have been
illustrated extremely different in each of Lanval and The Wife of Bath tales. Marie de
France s demonstrated the fairy queen as a symbol for female empowerment when the
fairy queen said, I admonish you now, I command and beg you, do not let any man
know about this. I shall tell you why: you would lose me for good if this love were
known; you would never see me again or possess my body (Anthology, L 150, 124).
She showed that the fairy queen was entitle as the fairy queen highlighted the
consequences of not keeping their relationship in secret from everyone. Also, the fairy
queen used the word command to show that she was entitled, yet she followed it by the
word beg you, she used indirect method to clarify it.
Moreover, in the tale it was illustrated by Marie de France s that the fairy queen
preferred to keep her information secret form Lanval. As Briscoe said, While
namelessness, especially within a narrative, implies a lack of identity and thus a lack
of importance or relevance, Marie s fairy queen uses it to her advantage (Briscoe, 24).
In Most situations, providing shortage information indicates to a lack of importance of
the other thing or person. However, in this situation the fairy queen is the one who
wanted to be unknown and chose to provide short information to Lanval, which revealed
her power and control. Apparently, the fairy queen wanted to be control of their
relationship and she wanted to be in charge of their meetings. Marie de France s
illustrated that the king s being manipulated of by the queen, which was

Budget Management Analysis

Abstract
A budget is an instrument used to help managers ensure that the resources used
effectively and proficiently toward the goals of an organization. A budget projection
can be made on a yearly base depending on previous year or existing one. They can
further be broken down quarterly or monthly depending on it use. Generating a budget
is complex undertaking, and for a budget to be effective the organization ought to
follow it strictly. However, no matter how closely a business follows their guidelines
there will always be some form of variances. The organization should expect a few
variances and be able to work these discrepancies in any budget ... Show more content on
Helpwriting.net ...
One reason is that most organizations pay their manager s a set salary and not by the
hour. In this case the variance would be zero, also known as a fix cost. However when
looking at the employee s salary the budget for one nurse is $5,760 dollar, and the
actual was $5,184 dollars with a variance of $576 dollars. In this case the organization
pays their nurse by a modified full time. This means that instead of work a full 40 hour
week nurses work 36 hours a week. In a two week period this would add up to eight
hours not paid however, the nurse can make up those lost hours if the nurse decides to
assist in educational courses, staff meetings, or committee meetings.
Finally, looking at medical supplies expenses for the unit it demonstrates that the unit
surpassed their budget. This is a demonstration of a negative variance for the unit, in
other words the unit overspent in medical supplies for that month by $225 dollars. This is
also a negative cost for the organization. The manager can further scrutinize what items
were of enormous cost by checking inventory or look at what items were of great demand
for that particular month, which in turn can justify the extra cost.
In general the organization has made savings in their variances cost of $451 dollars but
could have saved more if not for the negative cost in medical supplies of $225 dollars.

viewers, and outlines the vulnerability of Janey. Janey s copycat behaviour of her

has to live with her poor decisions and actions with Cadey, which left her younger

loss of her brother and horrifying entrance into womanhood due to her mis guidance
and belief that she, like her mother was in control. Janey s limited guidance, experience
and understanding of the world, left her vulnerable and exposed to predators such as
Cadey, who took advantage of her parents neglect and her curiosity. Christine Jeff s

pallbearers, here are a few things to keep in mind when choosing pallbearers. Make
Sure The Funeral Calls For Pallbearers First off, make sure that the funeral you are
planning will actually need pallbearers. Open Casket: If you are planning an open
casket funeral, generally the casket will be set up by the funeral home staff before the
funeral and viewing starts. Closed Casket: If you are having a closed casket funeral,
you will need pallbearers to bring the casket from the viewing room to the room where
the funeral is being held. Cemetery Burial: If you are planning a cemetery burial, you
will need pallbearers to carry the casket from the funeral home to the vehicle used to

need three people on each side, for a total of six individuals, to effectively carry the
casket. Most caskets have three handles on both sides for this purpose. If you have
more than six individuals who want to be pallbearers, many caskets also have a handle
on the back and front of the casket, which would allow up to eight pallbearers to carry

Essay on The Scientific Revolution and The Enlightenment
The Scientific revolution in the 16th and 17th centuries changed the way that people
views the world. Scientific philosophers such as Galileo and Descartes threw out the old
teachings of the church and challenged them with new ways of thinking. These men
sought to prove that rational thought could prove the existence of God. They also
challenged that it was an understanding of a series of rational thoughts, not faith, would
bring understanding of how the world worked. Traditional ways of thinking were
ultimately challenged by logical and sensible rationale. Galileo Galilei was an Italian
philosopher born in 1564. As an adult, he didn t believe the universal geocentric theory

Galileo stepped backed and worked on a book, which gave the arguments that for and
against the heliocentric theory. When he finally published the book, he was
persecuted for heresy by the Catholic Church and sentenced to house arrest in 1663.
While under house arrest, he did studies on falling object and their acceleration to the
earth. The Catholic Church later apologized and acknowledged that Galileo was
treated unfairly in 1992.There is now a statue of Galileo inside the Vatican as a
monument and an attempt to make amends. Scientifically, Galileo will be
remembered for invention of the telescope, which allowed astronomers, sailors and
other view the heavens and seas, which fed their own theories. He used his own
invention to discover the four moons of Jupiter, the mountains and craters of the
moon, and sunspots. His work on falling objects led to gravitational studies and
mathematical theorems which are on a basic level, physics. Experimentation was used
as a means to prove the laws of science along with the mathematical theories. Math,
according to Galileo, was the only infallible form of logic. If a mathematical law could
be formed from an event, then it was a logical, rational event. His breaking from the
Catholic Church, voicing his findings and staying with his convictions broke the
traditional way of thinking that the Church was the end all and be all of all things. In
the end, he was proven right for most of his beliefs and vindicated for his suppression.

Ghsty Two Places Of Gazelles
Ghsty two places of gazelles
The gazelle had not the secular role in ancient Egyptian society which was represented
through different phases of gazelle from give birth to grow up and hunting, but there
is another ritual or religious side of gazelle in ancient Egypt; gazelle was used during
processions of temples (Flores 1999: 33 34). The ancient word GHsty is mentioned in
pyramid texts and was represented by two gazelles and referred to the place of two
gazelles; this word is associated with Osiris place of death and resurrection (Griffiths
1980:22; Gauthier 1925: 63, 87, Duemichen 1865: Pl. LXV, no. 23). During Middle
kingdom the gazelle have still played an important role; the word GHsty was mentioned
on sarcophagus (Cairo 28027=T9C), (Banes and Malek 2000: 120; Newberry, P.E., 1893

Should Australia Have The Right To An Adequate Standard
Of...
Article 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights embodies the right to an
adequate standard of living. Although this doctrine was adopted in 1948, there is a
significant amount of work to be done worldwide. Moreover, the absence of a right to
housing would compromise many other basic rights including the right to family life and
privacy, freedom of movement, assembly and association, and the right to health.
The Commonwealth of Australia believes that everyone has the right to an adequate
standard of living, including adequate food, water, and housing. Australia acknowledges
adequate housing as an essential for human survival as supported in documents such as
Australia s National Human Rights Action Plan. Human rights provides us with a
language and a framework that can help shift the debate from one of welfare and pity to
one of rights and empowerment. (Graeme Innes, former Human Rights Commissioner)

  • 2. Geographical Benefits Of Eurasia Essay The geographical advantages of Eurasia allowed civilizations to develop productive agriculture, and domesticated animals as a result the Europeans had food surplus, developed immunity to epidemic diseases, and forged steel. These inherited advantages allowed them to decimate other civilizations and appropriate their resources making them even more powerful. Agriculture is only one of the many contributes to where we are today. Geographic location affects agriculture because each specific crop has needs, if you can t meet those needs, then you can t grow the crops. Some plants need super wet land and some need super dry land ,let s say you live in Papua New Guinea they live closer the the equator so they have the same weather year round. So if you re constantly getting the same amount of sunlight all year then you ll only be able to grow the same crops over and over again. Papua New Guinea had sago, to get sago people there would have to cut down the sago tree, cut the sago tree in half and collect the sago inside. With sago you have to have a wet climate, the sago tree takes three or four days to prepare. Sago does not last long after it is prepared, sago is low in protein and uses more calories then it gives. But Fertile Crescent on the other hand live farther from the equator, so they end up getting four seasons while rotating around the sun.Which leads to an advantage in almost everything. A change in weather four times a year gives them a chance to plant and grow

  • 4. Distortions of the Daniel Boone Legend and Their Impact... Distortions of the Daniel Boone Legend and Their Impact [1] The silent film, With Daniel Boone Thru the Wilderness, was produced in 1926: a time of prosperity, an era without the skepticism of the modern American mind. People were not yet questioning the stories and histories they had been taught as children. The entertaining story told in this Robert North Bradbury film is loosely based on the life of an American hero. However, the presence of several insidiously inaccurate historical representations demonstrates how an entertaining film might not be as innocent as it initially seems. This film fails to question certain key issues concerning the Daniel Boone legend. In fact, it does quite the opposite. The creators of this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What is going on here? [3] Perhaps the answer lies within a series of other, more precise questions. Who was the real Daniel Boone? Why was this person chosen over other similar frontiersmen by early hagiographers to be the next American hero? Who distorted the story of Boone s life and why? What societal factors went into the making of the Boone legend? Why was this legend still immensely popular in the 20th century? How did With Daniel Boone Thru the Wilderness represent, or misrepresent, the story of Daniel Boone, and why is that important? What does all of this mean to Americans today as this nation continues to redefine itself in the early years of the new millennium? [4] That is a lot to consider, but with good cause. Only by asking the tough questions and demanding accountability can a nation hope to correct its past wrongs, learn from its mistakes, and prevent similar injustices from occurring again. This process must begin by taking a new, more responsible look at history. Only when the facts are gathered from every possible perspective can one begin to truly comprehend history and its importance. What, then, are the facts behind the Daniel Boone legend? (To learn more about Daniel Boone s life, click here to visit the Historical Context page) [5] Boone was indeed an early American frontiersman and explorer. During Boone s life and continuing long after his death, several authors published authentic
  • 5. The Film Analysis Of The Movie The Patriot The Patriot The Patriot is known as this action packed, adventurous movie, and most americans have watched this movie despite the fact of its inaccuracies, also depicting america as great and the british as bad. This movie takes place in 1776, this was before the declaration of independence was signed and a idea was proposed about breaking away from the king and initiating a new nation was great but arguable. Not all the americans wanted to be independent from Great Britain, there was separation between the rebels and the colonials ,the rebels that wanted have to freedom and the Colonials that wanted to stay faithful to the king, america was nowhere near to united. The boston incident turned into a civil war. Later on, loyalists saw the british military as a authorized army, therefore loyalists joining the army because they were nationalistic like the rebels. However, in the movie they point out one loyalist because in the movie The Patriot they depict the americans in a positive light because if they stuck to true history they couldn t do that and would make the americans look bad. The filmmakers modified the history to put them in positive light for example they created this American hero named Benjamin Martin they depict him to be this heroic, flawless hero but in fact he is not even a person in history he is a made up fictional character based on francis marion and made up of other historical figures. Furthermore, they showed america united when in fact they were
  • 6. Argumentative Essay On RAW I haven t watched a full episode of RAW in over three months. I catch up by way of clips on Twitter, and I skim through Hulu s already abridged version. I spend most of my time perusing the promos, the skits, and whatever vignettes there may be. I cram the broad strokes of the larger narratives so I can pass whatever WWE quiz comes my way. With SmackDown included, I ve condensed my WWE viewership into about thirty minutes a week. And if there s a pay per view, then that duration increases. The result is that I m a much happier human being, and I m a lot easier to be around. I don t obsess about booking decisions. I don t bicker with anyone online. I don t care about anyone s criticism of my criticisms. The imagined judgments of some phantom... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For some, that degree of immersion will always work. And the fact that people can do that regardless of whether they should or not is a part of pro wrestling s appeal. I understand and respect that devotion, even if it gives me pause at the same time. But extremes aren t as useful in the long term. That degree of constant engagement weighs on all human minds. It affects one s ability to calmly and coherently witness what they re experiencing. In any diehard environment, criticism becomes unreliable because critical thinking doesn t exist. This problem is why I ve found stepping away from watching and critiquing RAW so useful. When I turned RAW on last night before bed, I saw aspects of the show that I d always criticized in a new light. My general perspective hadn t changed, of course. I didn t all the sudden enjoy segments I used to hate and hate the ones I used to enjoy. But I could process the information in a more coherent way. In the past, I ve been relentless in my disdain for backstage segments. I ve been lamenting their existence since before I had this blog or my podcast. I ve likened them to the visual version of a cheap pop and screamed that they have no place on
  • 7. The Importance Of Superheroes There are many vital roles superheroes play in people s lives all around the world. Superheroes are iconic, fictional characters that carry superhuman powers and abilities and typically saves the world from evil villains. Society highly values superheroes because they have extraordinary powers and traits, a strong moral code, sense of responsibilities, distinctive costumes, a lair, a large quantity of enemies, and many more interesting characteristics. People admire or idolize superheroes because they obtain feelings that connect to their alter ego life problems such as financial stress, family losses, and etc. in which relate to the basic, everyday struggles that normal humans face. Superheroes became an eminent part of popular cultureas they became role model figures for children, American society became obsessed with fictional characters, and the evolution or how they came to be in the industry of movies, cartoons, and comics. Superheroes give children a perfect, utopian, fantasy life and a heroic figure to look up to. Children look up to superheroes because they fight evil villains also known as the antagonist, which make them so popular. Superheroes teach that power does not corrupt if one uses it wisely. For instance; they take on bad guys in order to save and make good choices for the world. As a kid or in one s childhood, it is important to be risk taking and adventuresome and superheroes play a major role in their lives because of this. In order to get away from reality, superheroes widen or bolster children s creativity and imaginations by allowing them to have a fictional life or identity. They give children the opportunity to envision life as a superheroand having power to do remarkable duties. Superhero movies and cartoons are both very parental approved and age appropriate which is why they are family friendly recommended. They teach the youth morals and values because they respect the superhero qualities that not only children, but everyone should embody. Superheroes are popular today because they teach kids life learning lessons in a fun, captivating way. American society has gained a superhero craze because they make the best choices that real humans are not capable of.
  • 8. Compare And Contrast Jekyll And Hyde Compare and Contrast Two Presentations of the Urban Experience London by William Blake is a poem composed of four quatrains with rhyming lines. The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Dr Hyde is a mystery novel by Robert Louis Stevenson. Both of these presentations are written in the 1800 s in London. Blake and Stevenson find London awful and they are tired of everything that is bad about the city. It also conveyed that I was empathetic towards her situation. Geldard and Geldard (2009) explain that minimal responses not only convey that the counselor is listening, they can also be used to convey a message, such as surprise, agreement or even to challenge what has been said. The meaning of these minimal responses is also influenced greatly upon the delivery of them. Tone of voice, facial expression, posture and eye movement all help to determine the way in which these messages are received. An example of a minimal response I made that conveyed empathy would have been; when the client was describing her feelings of not being respected in her workplace and I responded by saying: sounds horrible . This short response did not interrupt the flow of conversation, and encouraged the client to continue. My tone of voice and facial expressions were also congruent with someone who empathized and was interested in what was being said. Reflective Listening. Summarising, paraphrasing and reflection of feelings are all examples of counselling micro skills that let the client know that the counselor is listening and understanding them correctly. Although it is important to try to respond accurately it is not essential as an incorrect response can encourage the client to re think what they have said and then clarify it, possibly resulting

The Wagner Act Essays In 1934, the Wagner Act was first introduced, also called the National Labor Relations Act (NLRB), it promised to ensure a wise distribution of wealth between management and labor, to maintain a full flow of purchasing power, and to prevent recurrent depressions. (Babson, p. 85) During the mid 1930 s organized labor and the United States Government struck a deal. It was the time of Franklin D. Roosevelt. With no relief in sight, society had nothing to lose and everything to gain by fighting back. Workers saw that businesses and businessmen continued to get rich and mover further ahead in life, while the working class began to fall further down the economic ladder with little or no hope of advancement within society. The solidarity amongst the unemployed is a key factor which cannot be ignored by historians and scholars, and that impetus could have propelled labor forward. For the first time, America had seen mass demonstrations across the country centering on a central issue, unemployment. Unemployment councils were prevalent within many of the major metropolitan centers across the country, and they became the proponent for the wize of the American worker. Numerous rallies and demonstrations were staged by those councils, and when it came to the issue of unemployment there were no perceived boundaries amongst citizens based on ethnicity, race or religion. The barriers which had stymied the growth of the labor movement had temporarily disappeared. However, as powerful as these councils could have been, there was no co ordination amongst the various centers in relation to the public protest. Communities and individuals were becoming mobilized and they too began to learn the importance of being organized and working together collectively and disregarding any self imposed barriers along the lines
  • 11. Essay about My Mission Trip to the Dominican Republic It was a hot, searing day as the sun beat down on my skin. The lush green palm trees provided me shade as I sat and observed my surroundings. Children, barefoot and dirty, wearing tattered and stained clothes were running around laughing and playing. Their joyous giggles put a smile on my face and warmed my heart as I watched them. It was my first time in the Dominican Republic, away from my parents and traveling alone. It was also my first mission trip and I loved every minute of it. As I sat and looked around the village of slums and shacks, I saw that the people were so giving and friendly. First she gave me a hug and said Tengo un regalo para ti , which means I have a gift for you. I was touched that she would even think to give me anything. All of a sudden, I felt her sweaty fingers against my wrist. I looked down and saw her black, precious hands tying a strand of beads to my wrist. It was a bracelet made of black, sparkly beads and transparent beads, strung together by a piece of black string. She began to tell me that she prayed over the bracelet and for me, because I helped her and had formed a friendship with her. The words she spoke touched my heart deeply. As I examined the bracelet, her choice of colors struck me. I found it interesting that she chose black and white beads. It reminded me of our friendship, she has black skin, I have white, and we both felt so close with each other. Just as the beads on the string were intertwined and touching each other, we had touched one another s lives. I later found out that she took the week s grocery money to go down to the market to

  • 13. Hume s Skeptical View Of Causality Kant tackled Hume s skeptical view of causality. In Kants mind, causality is a central example of a category or pure concept of the understanding. Moreover, because Hume s famous discussion of causality and induction is equally central to his philosophy, understanding the relationship between the two philosophers on this issue is crucial for a proper understanding of modern philosophymore generally. Yet ever since Kant offered his response to Hume the topic has been subject to intense controversy. There is no consensus, of course, over whether Kant s response succeeds, but there is no more consensus about what this response is supposed to be. So this is basically where the two philosophers begin to intertwine. Thoughts without content are empty, intuitions without concepts are blind. Or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kant s ideas present a few questions: The nature of appearances. Are they (as Kant sometimes suggests) identical to representations, i.e., states of our minds? If so, does Kant follow Berkeley in equating bodies (objects in space) with ideas (representations)? If not, what are they, and what relation do they have to our representations of them? The nature of things in themselves. What can we say positively about them? What does it mean that they are not in space and time? How is this claim compatible with the doctrine that we cannot know anything about them? How is the claim that they affect us compatible with that doctrine? Is Kant committed to the existence of things in themselves, or is the concept of a thing in itself merely the concept of a way objects might be (for all we know)? The relation of things in themselves to appearances. Is the appearance/thing in itself distinction an ontological one between two different kinds of objects? God had told Abraham to not only circumcise himself, but his children, his slaves, and any males in his household as well. This was a practice that was to be done from generation to generation. In early history during BCE, this was used as a way to separate the Israelites from the Philistines. Years earlier, there wasn t much difference between the Israelite community and its neighboring people. But with the arrival of the Philistines changed how they identified themselves as a separate group of people. As time progresses, so do the opinions when it comes to circumcision. There was a huge threat to the Jewish tradition due to the efforts of Jews to cover their marks of circumcision. Assimilation into the communities that Jews lived in was a common challenge. Keeping with tradition when living in a community that wasn t always accepting, was difficult. Especially when it was sometimes punished greatly. Because circumcision was strongly associated with Judaism, many Jews would try to remove the marks of this ritual off of their bodies. During the rule of Antiochus IV Epiphanes, there was great crisis for the Jews that were living in Jerusalem. Previously, Antiochus III allowed Jews to live according to their customs, but that was different under the rule of Antiochus IV. There was bans on religious traditions and even violations of temples. Because of Antiochus IV

Child life and adult life have two very different and distinct perspectives. A child s perspective sheds light on the importance of imagination, creativity, and curiosity; An adult perspective unveils the importance of self control, free thinking, and responsibilities. We all know that children learn pretty much everything from adults, but many adults can learn valuable lessons from children. It s no secret that children have a wild sense of imagination. Oswald was charged for Tippit s murder as ballistics confirmed that the spent cartridges found beside Tippit s body were of the type used in the .38 Smith and Wesson revolver found on Oswald when he was arrested. Mrs Markham also identified Oswald from an identity parade as the murderer. This incident indicated that Oswald was indeed capable of murder. Different female characters had role in her story such as the mythical fairy women and the queen as she was demonstrated as manipulative and lustful because they used their beauty and status for their personal benefit. Generally, Marie de Frances explained various points such as beauty, love, and manipulation. Similarly, in The Wife of Bath, Geoffrey Chaucerillustrates the significance of women role, yet they had a different power usage in persuading. The women characters use alternative methods in expressing their role and empowerment that have been illustrated extremely different in each of Lanval and The Wife of Bath tales. Marie de France s demonstrated the fairy queen as a symbol for female empowerment when the fairy queen said, I admonish you now, I command and beg you, do not let any man know about this. A budget projection can be made on a yearly base depending on previous year or existing one. They can further be broken down quarterly or monthly depending on it use. Generating a budget is complex undertaking, and for a budget to be effective the organization ought to follow it strictly. However, no matter how closely a business follows their guidelines there will always be some form of variances. The organization should expect a few variances and be able to work these discrepancies in any budget ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One reason is that most organizations pay their manager s a set salary and not by the hour. In this case the variance would be zero, also known as a fix cost. However when looking at the employee s salary the budget for one nurse is $5,760 dollar, and the actual was $5,184 dollars with a variance of $576 dollars. In this case the organization pays their nurse by a modified full time. This means that instead of work a full 40 hour week nurses work 36 hours a week. In a two week period this would add up to eight hours not paid however, the nurse can make up those lost hours if the nurse decides to assist in educational courses, staff meetings, or committee meetings. Finally, looking at medical supplies expenses for the unit it demonstrates that the unit surpassed their budget. This is a demonstration of a negative variance for the unit, in other words the unit overspent in medical supplies for that month by $225 dollars. This is also a negative cost for the organization. The manager can further scrutinize what items were of enormous cost by checking inventory or look at what items were of great demand for that particular month, which in turn can justify the extra cost. • 30. Essay on The Scientific Revolution and The Enlightenment The Scientific revolution in the 16th and 17th centuries changed the way that people views the world. Scientific philosophers such as Galileo and Descartes threw out the old teachings of the church and challenged them with new ways of thinking. These men sought to prove that rational thought could prove the existence of God. They also challenged that it was an understanding of a series of rational thoughts, not faith, would bring understanding of how the world worked. Traditional ways of thinking were ultimately challenged by logical and sensible rationale. Galileo Galilei was an Italian philosopher born in 1564. Galileo stepped backed and worked on a book, which gave the arguments that for and against the heliocentric theory. When he finally published the book, he was persecuted for heresy by the Catholic Church and sentenced to house arrest in 1663. While under house arrest, he did studies on falling object and their acceleration to the earth. The Catholic Church later apologized and acknowledged that Galileo was treated unfairly in 1992.There is now a statue of Galileo inside the Vatican as a monument and an attempt to make amends. Scientifically, Galileo will be remembered for invention of the telescope, which allowed astronomers, sailors and other view the heavens and seas, which fed their own theories. He used his own invention to discover the four moons of Jupiter, the mountains and craters of the moon, and sunspots. His work on falling objects led to gravitational studies and mathematical theorems which are on a basic level, physics. Experimentation was used as a means to prove the laws of science along with the mathematical theories. Math, according to Galileo, was the only infallible form of logic. If a mathematical law could be formed from an event, then it was a logical, rational event. His breaking from the Catholic Church, voicing his findings and staying with his convictions broke the traditional way of thinking that the Church was the end all and be all of all things. In the end, he was proven right for most of his beliefs and vindicated for his suppression.
