This document summarizes a lecture on non-parametric statistics. It begins by distinguishing between parametric and non-parametric statistics, noting that parametric methods assume a particular distribution and population parameters while non-parametric methods do not. Examples of non-parametric equivalents to common parametric tests are then provided, including the Wilcoxon signed-rank test for paired samples and the Mann-Whitney U test for independent samples. These are demonstrated on wine tasting and ranking data examples.
