Allochthon Hypothesis
From the above section we already talked about the rocks of Roberts mountains allochthon and
autochthon. In this section, we are trying to evaluate the Roberts mountains allochthon and autochthon
according to the Mediterranean analog hypothesis proposed by Burchfield and Royden (1991), and
modified by Dickinson (2000) rather than island arc collision hypothesis. Burchfield and Royden
(1991) cast doubted the island arc collision hypothesis because: 1. the arc west of the North American
continent and its structures seem more to face west rather than east. 2. The Havallah basin sediments
deposited before and after the emplacement of the Roberts mountains allochthon. 3. Deposition
occurred in a paleogeographic location that should have been occupied ... Show more content on

In the east facing subduction zone, a thrust belt developed as an accretionary prism, and the trench
retreated within the subduction zone (slab rollback) caused the thrust to migrate toward the continental
margin. As a result, Havallah basin formed within an enlarging extensional region to the west of the
trench and thrust belt. So how does slab rollback work? The slab rollback occurs when an older
oceanic crust, which may lose heat by thermal contraction or another reason; thus becomes colder and
denser than other slabs, then subducting at a steep angle. The slab rollback may pull the upper plate, as
the colder slab collapses into the asthenosphere; it can roll back through the mantle. As a result it
causes an extension in the overlying plate (example an enlarged extensional region in the Havallah
basin) and possibly backarc spreading. Havallah sedimentation began during the emplacement of the
allochthon, in an extending region to the west. Low grade rocks formed in the Osgood Mountains
were exposed by tectonic unroofing during extension and unconformably overlain by post tectonic
Pennsylvanian sedimentary rocks. In the hanging wall of the antler subduction system, arc volcanic
that may have been erupted near or within the backarc extension, were extended and subside during or
shortly after

The Dictator s Learning Curve By William J. Dobson
Bouazizi exposed the real truths behind the rampant inflation, unemployment, and police brutality
problems that were really plaguing Tunisia. Once the few videos and comments started to get through
the Internet blocking efforts to the world media then the movement gained national attention and
became a bigger influence on toppling the existing government.
In Egypt we saw the blocking of Twitter and Facebook happen; this seemed all too common and even
fueled the emotion driven actions of the people not only of Egypt, but in Tunisia, Libya, Syria, and
even into China later on. We saw countries pay their way out of the Arab Spring, block social media,
and force propagandized local and international news. In the book The Dictator s Learning Curve by
William J. Dobson, there is a chapter where he visits China during the Arab Spring and states that
CNN was blocked throughout China to stop any threats, and to stop the Chinese citizens from seeing
the outside world with the current situation unfolding. Dobson talks about in his book how on edge
some of the governments were when he was visiting; stating that Omar Afifi had several cell phones at
which he could be contacted on and skype where officials kept him informed about the unfolding
uprisings in Egypt.
When we consider the social and technological reasons for the uprising we also have to start thinking
about where the uprising started and its significance to the geographical locations of the countries that
were affected. When

Essay On Casino Royale
When I first began reading this book, I assumed that it would be like the 2 previous books in the
series: fast paced with good action and good characters, but more a fun read than anything else. It was
going to be enjoyable in an Ocean s Eleven or Casino Royale way like its predecessors. And so going
into this, my initial reaction was surprise. In the first chapter I was already delving into the past of Kat
and Hale s powerful bond and the history of their relationship, something I thought would never be
explained. Already, the book was surprising me with its depth of character development and hidden
deeper meanings. Throughout the book the theme of the characters taking on much bigger and
influential roles continued. I learned to love the characters not just as characters but real people; I
learned to look at Kat s world not just as all bright, cheerful hues, but this book revealed the shadowy,
dark shades of Kat s world as well: corruption, hurt, and lots of angst. But, powering through it all and
saving the day was the infinite loyalty and love of her family.
While reading the book, I don t think my reactions and responses varied greatly. However, they
differed greatly from my reactions and responses while reading the previous books, when I was caught
up more in the adventure and plot of the book. While those aspects of this book were equally
enthralling as the other books, I reacted and responded more to the characters in this book. My
reactions and responses to the

All Summer Is A Day By Ray Bradbury
Many centuries after the first spaceship landed on the moon, a group of brave rocket men and women
did the unbelievable. The short story All summer is a day , by Ray Bradbury, takes place in the
underground city of the planet Venus where tunnels roamed instead of streets. The land above them
was submerged with endless pouring rain and deadly jungles. The sight of the sun was a rare miracle
that only happened once every seven years. The children spent all their life in the enclosed
underground tunnels, well all except for one. Margot was the only child who came to Venus when she
was four, and the biggest difference was that she still remembered the times when the glowing sun
gave warmth and hope.
Thesis Statement (1 3 sentences) Her past experiences and opportunities caused the children of Venus
to be jealous of her. As a result, the children harassed Margot in disbelief. The gloomy, enclosed
environment affects everyone greatly. The message of the story shows how the environment and the
people around you can affect you because of their own lack of experiences. The author portrays this
when the children harass the main character, he also uses craft moves to show isolation of the main
character, and how depressed she is as a result. To begin, the author shows that the harassment Margot
goes through is due to the children lack of knowledge about the sun since they have spent their whole
life on Venus. Throughout the day, Margot brings back memories of the sun.

The Relief and Mistakes of the American Red Cross Makes
Undoubtedly, the American Red Cross has done many wonders over the course of its existence.
Whether it is providing relief from disasters, aiding the less fortunate nationally and internationally or
saving lives with their blood program, the Red Cross has always been there to help the world become
a safer place to live in. Most recently, this organization has had a strong impact in the recovery of
Superstorm Sandy and Hurricane Isaac, providing food and water, multiple shelters for people that
have lost their homes and even counseling during such a devastating time ( Top 20 Accomplishments
). It can t be disputed that since its inception, the Red Cross has had a lasting impact on the overall
well being of American citizens, instilling confidence in them that if a disaster does strike in their
lives, the Red Cross is there to ease the pain a bit. However, much like any other organization, the Red
Cross has had its fair share of flaws and mishaps. A crucial mistake in the business world may result in
a substantial loss of money or even a sentence to prison. Unfortunately for the Red Cross, everything
they do and participate in deals with the lives of everyday individuals. As a result, if their jobs aren t
done correctly or mistakes are being made, it could put the lives of thousands at risk and therefore
jeopardize their institution. Some may argue that in several instances, there has been mistakes made
that have directly and negatively impacted the lives of Americans. An

Caribbean Integration
CARIBBEAN POLITICS and SOCIETY
Caribbean Integration
Rationale for Integration.
The Caribbean remains fragmented both economically and politically as a result of competition and
conflict among the European powers. Fragmentation is in part the product of a long history as separate
colonies of a metropolitan power or powers. It is also in part the psychological effects on people of
separation by sea.
The case for regional integration is both simple and irrefutable. First we are small and we need to
achieve economies of scale. We need to achieve such economies in markets, production, the
mobilisation of regional capital for regional use, university education, science and technology, sea and
air transport to mention some areas.

Psychological Dependence on the outside world
In spite of our achievements in many fields of endeavour, we still have a strong sense of psychological
dependence on things external particularly North American, Europe, and some of the bigger countries
of Latin America. We still (as good ex colonials) see big countries in the hemisphere and in Europe as
being some sense better (intrinsincally and not just economically) than out individual countries and
the other West Indian countries and we sometimes carry this perception into the field of international
relations.

Theme Of Baptism In To Kill A Mockingbird
Connection: The biblical story, Jonah and the Whale, is an example of Baptism. God gave Jonah a job,
but he set off in another direction. Suddenly, there was a storm. The boat was tossing in the middle of
the sea. No one on the boat knew what to do. Jonah knew that the storm was because of him. God was
with him. Everyone prayed for forgiveness and they threw Johan into the water. The storm
immediately stopped. God heard Jonah s prayers and sent a fish to rescue him. Jonah lived in the fish s
stomach for three days. He prayed to God for help. When it was safe, the fish spit Jonah out onto the
land. Jonah was cleansed when he returned back to the land. Being tossed into the water was
symbolic. He was reborn after the incident.
Connection: In this section, Foster talks about the importance of geography. It can define a character.
An example of when geography defines a character is in To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. The
character Boo Radley s house is described as a scary, threatening place. The reader infers the that the
character who lives in the house is also scary and someone to avoid. The mysterious Boo Radley
keeps the reader engaged throughout the book, but by the end we learn that he is not as mean as we
originally believed.
Connection: Pure originality is impossible when writing. When it comes to fairytales, ideas seem to
often overlap. Often times in fairytales characters good overcomes evil. This is true for Aladdin,
Cinderella, and Snow White. In Aladdin, Jazmine and Aladdin fall in love, but since Aladdin is not a
prince, he cannot marry Jazime. When he discovers the Genie, he turns himself into a prince. In return,
Jafar tries everything to kill Aladdin so he can marry Jazmine for her wealth. Ultimately, Jafar s
behavior catches up to him and he loses his freedom, as he is trapped in a lamp.
Connection: A character s physical qualities tell the reader a lot about the character. In Frankenstein,
the creature s deformity depicts his nature. He is scary, powerful, and cunning. He acts out of
isolation. People are afraid of him and beat him, so he is forced to retreat to places where he cannot be
seen by people. He is only able to come out at night. His deformity dictates how other

The Demon Lover Literary Analysis
In the realms of the World Wars, love is simply expressed through heartfelt words dancing across the
margins of decorative paper. In the short story, The Demon Lover by Elizabeth Bowen, the main
character endures the hardships of retaining mental sanity when facing a past lover returning home
years later. In the same way, the poem Answers to Letters by Tomas Tranströmer explains in first
person point of view the overbearing weight of anxious thoughts arising from time elapsing. Using
comparable symbols, The Demon Lover and Answers to Letters characters illustrate how unstable
weather patterns and faltering mental stability depict their roles in society, despite the roles of The
Demon Lover revolving around a supernatural force. Enduring the uncontrollable force above, the
weather illustrates the sudden intensities of the plot in The Demon Lover . Mrs. Drover embodies the
perfect illusion of a lovesick puppy , the weather mocking her as bright August sky. The couple utters
their goodbyes in the nearby garden. The emotions run high and promises of returning leave the young
soldier s lips with such devotion. According to author Elizabeth Bowen, the clouds have a mind of
their own: It was dark; they were saying good bye under a tree (348). The weather is speaking beneath
the words on the page, foreshadowing the turmoil that lies ahead. After years of no contact, the letter
arriving at the old London home throws Mrs. Drover off guard. The unaware and apprehensive

Gingival Stereotypes In Syria
There are several differences among the male and female populations of Syria. In Syria, the average
height of males is five feet, eight inches and females are generally five feet, one and a half inches (

fact, many have very light skin, brown or blonde hair, and blue or green eyes (Das, 2017). A native
group, the Kurds, have light skin, green eyes, and blonde hair (Das, 2017). A majority of this
population have almond shaped eyes. Gingival biotypes may affect dental treatment success. Females

The Prospect Of Human Genetic Engineering
Rafi Ebne Rafi Dr. McKinnis ENG 201 April 8th, 2015 On the Prospect of Human Genetic
Engineering In the year of 2013 roughly 7.6 million people died of cancer, 1.5 million people died of
AIDS, and another 70,000 of Cystic Fibrosis ( World Cancer Day ; CF Foundation ). What do all these
diseases have in common? Modern medicine has no guaranteed way of curing them. The fact of the
matter is that we as a society don t know much about these, and some other life threatening diseases.
As a result, more years of research need to be undergone in order develop unique drugs that may cure
these, and other complex diseases . How long do you suppose it will take for a drug to come forth?
Five, ten, thirty years? What if it doesn t even exist? How many people do you suppose will die in the
meantime? Now my point is not to make one think that there is no method to curing diseases similar to
those previously mentioned. As a matter of fact, my point is to shine light upon a promising method
that has been showing results: genetic engineering. With the advancements of science, genetic
engineering is becoming a more and more developed procedure that has already saved the lives of
those terminally ill. But where one problem is solved, another arises. With the ever growing social
prominence of genetic engineering, ethical concerns are reaching a frenzied state. Many are weary of
playing God, and the idea of changing one s genetic makeup seems morally unjust. They see genetic

Susan Glaspell s Trifles And A Jury Of Her Peers
Although A Jury of Her Peers and Trifles are similar in plot, Mustazza s article, Generic Translation
and Thematic Shift in Susan Glaspell s Trifles and A Jury of Her Peers highlights the differences and
similarities between the two. Mustazza s article may help aid readers to understand the differences
between Glaspell s two works and provide understanding as to why Glaspell may have changed the
genre and form of the plot. Trifles is a dramatic play whereas A Jury of Her Peers is prose fiction.
While some differences may be seen on the surface, other differences will need to be inspected
closely. Mustazza s article may help one to understand Glaspell s works by providing analysis and
additional perspectives on both A Jury of her Peers and Trifles .
The most obvious difference between Glaspell s two works is the title. The play is entitled Trifles
whereas the prose version is called A Jury of Her Peers . Both titles draw the attention of the audience
to different parts of the plot. Trifles highlights the trivial household items in the plot whereas A Jury of
Her Peers accentuates the women s roles and how they question what is morally right (Mustazza 489).
Mustazza s article provides background knowledge and a reason why Glaspell may have changed and
retitled the prose version. Since women were in the final years of fighting for the right to vote in 1917,
changing the title from Trifles to A Jury of Her Peers made the piece more contemporary and

When it comes to your business persona, your brand identity must match it. It s not good enough for
you to do business well. It s not even good enough for you to deliver an excellent product or service.
Your personal brand, that is what other people think of you, and your business persona must match.
In other words, if you want people to think of your business as delivering the best quality products,
then you as an entrepreneur must deliver the best quality products. It is important that you strive for
excellence in everything you do. That s because people associate your business, as well as your

Out of the silent planet
Out of the silent planet by C.S Lewis is a novel that denotes the difference between the social system
on planet earth and the planet Malacandra. In Malacandra, groups live in harmony with one another
and complement each other. On earth, the social system is brutal and evil. The novel is a science
fiction that covers Dr. Ransoms (major character) adventures and encounters on a planet that is
entirely different from earth. Ransoms lands into this planet by accident after being kidnapped by two

This is different to what happens on earth where groups are in constant dominance wars, often
breaking into factions that regard each other as inherently inferior. The kidnappers, Devine and
Weston represent this dominance character of Earthly beings.
On earth, people are self centered and do not care for each other. In contrast, On Malacandra, various
species live and work together (Gibbons 88). There three intelligent species in Malacandra and their
differences of knowledge is their strength. The pfifltriggi excavate and makes things out of their
excavation, the Seroni are the master of knowledge and the hrossa were poets (Lewis, 68). Even with
these different talents, there is no group that wants to dominate the other. They know that they have
differences but have accepted them since they can talk to each other, they can cooperate, and they
have the same ethics (Lewis 156).
The leadership system on earth is also different from the other planets. Unlike the earth, all the other
planets have a structured leadership; they have a ruler (Oyarsa). The earth is unruly because people
have no common Oyarsa and this makes people bent. Everyone on earth wants to be a little Oyarsa
himself (Lewis 102). The Oyarsa of Malacandra, in reference to the actions of Devine and Weston of
kidnapping, is surprised how any creature could be so

Analysis Of The Omo Valley Of Southwest Ethiopia Between...
The Mursi are a people of the Omo Valley of Southwest Ethiopia between the Omo and mago rivers,
they are transhumant pastoralist, who as a whole they consist of less than 10,000 people. Living in a
remote and isolated place in the world they have a unique culture different from any other. This
includes their customs, language, economics, food, ect. Perhaps the most well know practise of the
Mursi is their use of lip plates worn by the women of the tribe. This is followed by their unique
connection with the earth. And lastly the men s practise of ceremonial duel fighting or stick battling.
These practises have become emblematic of their culture, and allow the Mursi to identify with one
another in these aspects, and differentiate themselves from other tribes.
The well known lip plates are given to a girl at 15 16 years of age and is a tradition that goes back
hundreds of years. Today deciding whether or not to get a lip plate is a can be life changing to the girl.
Many women decide not to get lip plates, this is to be able to attend markets with other neighboring
tribes and not be discriminated against. The women of the Mursi who have lip plates are judged and
ridiculed when going to markets, and outside their tribes region. However, this decision makes it less
likely for a woman to become married, as the Mursi men find women with lip plates more attractive,
and the fact that it is a custom that their culture holds of great value. The lip plates are given

What Is The Theme Of In Another Country By Ernest Hemingway
From July 28th, 1914 to November 11th, 1918 World War One, also known as The Great War, was
fought. Over 19.7 million soldiers were injured. The youngest person to join the war was a 12 year old
British boy. Both In Another Country by Ernest Hemingway and Told by the Schoolmaster by John
Galsworthy have to do with World War One. In Another Country by Ernest Hemingway is about
wounded soldiers receiving a type of physical therapy, the narrator describes how he does not think of
himself as a Hunting Hawk like he thinks of the other soldiers. The narrator tells the Major that once
the war is over, he will travel to the United States to marry; the Major tells him not to, it is later
revealed that the Major s wife recently died. However, in Told by the Schoolmaster by John
Galsworthy a boy, named Joe, falsifies his age, both to join the army and to marry a woman, named
Betty. Later, it is discovered that Betty is pregnant and Joe comes back; it is also found out the he has
deserted the war; he is then brought back and shot by his own side for deserting. Both stories are
different because of their themes, have similarities with their setting, and have differences with their
styles.

Building A Resort On Great Lake
Goals and Communication Objectives: The goal of this project is to obtain city approval to build a
resort on Great Lake, located in Great Lake City, Wisconsin. The project will bring in a large annual
revenue and also create jobs for the city, unfortunately the project will effect a rare waterfowls habitat
who lives in a slough on the lake. In order to obtain city approval Great Northern will have to address
the residents and solve the issue of possibly enraged environmentalists about building the resort. Great
Northern will communicate to the residents with three objectives in mind. First, to create awareness
that the land has been sold to them to at least 70% of residents. Second, to create a positive company
image to the more than half of the residents within one to two months. Last, to change the attitude of
those who are against construction because it could hurt the waterfowl and sway people beliefs that
the resort will be beneficial to Great Lake Cities economy.
Key Publics: The primary figures that Great Northern will be concerned with while trying to win
approval for the resort is the 5 member zoning commission and the separate 9 member city council.
These organizations will be the main source Great Northern needs in order to gain approval, and it is
ultimately their decision. Although, both groups will most likely want to hear public input on the
project. This makes environmental groups a secondary public that Great Northern will need to win
over as they are

How Did Lawrence Sperry Influenced The Invention Of Aviation
A young 15 year old boy in the year of 1909, had attended an airshow that would change his goals and
dreams forever. Lawrence Sperry was very adventurous and intelligent, he was fascinated by the
aviation work and craft. In Mineola, New York, Lawrence and his brother were discovering new
fancies about aircrafts that they never knew at an airshow. Full of curiosity and hope, the Sperry
brothers built their own version of the Voisin in their basement, but realized after the final touches that
they could not fit the wings out. They even manufactured their own steam box. Although they were
very smart kids, they were still very inexperienced with flying. This plane did not have an engine but
was built as a glider. Still curious, they flew up to 150ft of altitude before crashing. Elmer and Zula

Advantage Of Liberal Arts College
For those who want to further their schooling in a way that focuses on undergraduate studies and
creating a well rounded education a liberal arts college is the perfect opportunity to achieve a higher
education. Some of the oldest liberal arts colleges in the United States date back to the 1600s. There
are many advantages to studying at a liberal arts college. A liberal arts education can give students the
opportunity to have a smaller environment and a well rounded education. The smaller environment
that a liberal arts college provides to students is very helpful for a successful college experience. A
smaller number of undergrad students enrolled into one s college translates to having smaller class
sizes. Jessica Velasco explains, Average class sizes at liberal arts colleges are usually less than 30
students (Velasco, College Raptor). The transition from small high school classes to college is easier if
the college classes are similar in size. This is especially helpful for students who have trouble focusing
and learn best in smaller environments. It is easier to get help when necessary. Hand in hand with
smaller class sizes is close relationships with professors. Velasco illustrates, Classes, including
introductory courses, are taught by professors at liberal arts colleges... because each class is usually
taught by a professor, this means they generally have the opportunity to spend more quality time with
their students, getting to know them, evaluating and critiquing their work much more closely, and
serving as mentors (Velasco, College Raptor). At most universities lecture classes have hundreds of
students. At those institutions, it is nearly impossible to be on a first name basis with the professors.
With a large number of students, there is often no time to build relationships. The small environment
that liberal arts colleges pride themselves on allows easy access to professors. They are able to answer
questions and personally help their students. Finally, many liberal arts colleges have many student
activities to take part in. Liberal arts colleges usually have fewer student organizations and activities
than larger universities, but participation tends to be higher, Velasco writes. Time

The Role Of Special Schools For Students With Children...
Inclusion in school is built upon removing barriers to participation access and achievement for all
pupils (Grimes, 2009) it is only effective if it has been well resourced and has targeted funding, early
identification implemented covering the children s needs and intervening as early as possible, the
correct training for teachers and support staff needs to be implemented to improve awareness and
understanding, it is also important to have adequate and appropriate support, whilst recognising the
role of special schools and how they support inclusion and attaching expertise whilst working in
partnership with parents and professionals. Some of the greatest barriers associated with inclusion in

The Children s Plan (2007) is another policy to have been put in place to ensure that the needs of all
children are met whilst in education fairly.
Strategies for special education inclusion should allow for special needs children to benefit from the
learning environment. Children with or without special needs succeed in an environment that enables
them to develop by being able to be to solve problems, as well as being able to express their feelings
as well as being socially adjusted however children with special needs are often negotiating the most
basic of these levels. They re learning to engage with other people, to be persistent and are opening
and closing many circles of communication with other children and adults. Children who have not got
any special needs may still be developing their abilities to be imaginative and creative. Inclusion
brings these groups together in beneficial ways.
Children with autistic spectrum disorder will find it difficult to interact with others, but are able to
communicate when they want something; they tend not to use any form of interaction to show people
things or to be sociable. It is important to remember that communication and interaction do not have
to involve the use of language and speech. Many children with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder are

The Pros And Cons Of Social Enempreneurship
Creation of Jobs aiming on changing business models
It is not that innovation and automation have resulted in unemployment or will lead to unemployment
instead innovation is actually intrinsic to the changing business models across the world. Today s is an
economy of innovation . We need to create innovative jobs that would complement the innovative
machines and technologies that are created. David Nordof and Vint Cerf recently in their book
Disrupting Unemployment argue that there is a need to develop a people centered rather than a task
centered economy. There is a need to create value of people rather than just focusing on lower costs of
tasks.
This essay argues that there needs to be a two fold strategy to rethink the unemployment crises taking
it away from a superficial entanglement of acronyms and arcane charts. The two fold strategy
includes:

Polis Aristotle
Aristotle contends that achieving human happiness and well being is impossible without living in a
city because human beings are political animals and therefore politics is an elemental part of the good
life. Aristotle bases this claim off of the argument that politics and city formation is a natural part of
being human because humans have an inherent impulse to create associations and partnerships that
eventually evolve into political communities, or the polis. These partnerships arise first from two
individual s who need each other to survive (1252b) then to households which extend to become
villages (1252b16), to eventually fully formed self sufficient cities (1252b27). Aristotle s argues that
the polis is prior to all other partnerships (1253a20) because the partnerships are parts that make up
the whole, the polis, and therefore all humans are drawn to create and associate with the ... Show more

By virtue of establishing the partnerships as natural, Aristotle is successful in asserting that the
political is fundamental to human nature and in order for individuals to experience the good life they
must be members of the city (1253a20). To back this claim, Aristotle uses a metaphor of the city as the
body and the citizen as the limb and argues that comparable to the limbs separating from the body, the
individual is not self sufficient when separated from the city and therefore possesses a natural impulse
towards creating and remaining in the polis (1253a25). Furthermore, Aristotle supports this claim by
contending the one who is in need of nothing through being self sufficient is no part of a city and so is
either a beast or a god (1253a27). As a result, all individuals need the city to achieve the good life, and
if they do not need the city they are not

Theatre Analysis
The learning experience that is theatre can be very similar to a rolling snowball. Each and every show
gives me something new that I keep with me on the rest of my journey. Whether it be the mastering of
a double pirouette or the acquiring of a new accent, I can remember shows based upon what I
collected. This year is not an exception, but it is certainly a special case. Being a senior has been a
rocky road, but in turbulence I have found wisdom. After playing Bert most recently in Mary Poppins,
I did more than just refine my tap dancing. I got to experience firsthand the miraculous power of
theatre. My community is close knit, so when tragedy struck, no one was left unaffected. During the
months of preparation for the fall musical, two students lost their lives to depression, both of them
being in my senior class. There was no emotional respite as the incidents occurred only one month
apart. Needless to say, daily life was put on hold. The vibrant hallways that I had known so well
became inert. Smiles became a rarity. The silence of each day was palpably heavy. As the company
trekked along one scene at a time, regardless of our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The recent circumstances, though, brought me to understand a new meaning of that term. I began to
internalize that the upcoming performance would become the anchor for others as it had been for
myself. No longer was I simply leading a cast, but I was about to be carrying a community. In the
weeks that passed, I came to realize that each line, song, and dance was a chance to improve someone
s day. I had known that before, of course, but never in the somber and very real context that I was
facing. I would constantly refer to the show as the shining light that our town needs . This was true in
a literal yet poetic sense. The lights on stage would act directly as lights of hope for those attending.
Mary Poppins was no longer about how much I could take, but how much I could

kind of change is difficult because sometimes it begins to change the way people interact in other

Health becomes one of the public s main concerns for American people, hence we are becoming more
scrupulous to our diet. People believe that being overweight is the main cause of obesity. Therefore, it
is a common believe that processed food is the number reason of obesity. David H. Freedman,
however, opposes this view. He published his article How Junk Food Can End Obesity in the Atlantic
magazine stating that processed food is not as bad as we deem it is. Freedman claims that the whole
foods are equally fattening and unhealthy (507). As for my personal opinion, healthy is a very broad

However, by focusing on the concept of whole foods vs. junk foods, Freedman generalized junk food
as a whole to be healthy. It is true that there are certain processed foods have the proper daily
nutrients, but most of other processed foods are filled with unhealthy ingredients containing fats,
refined carbs, sugar, salt, and calories. Therefore, I feel that How Junk Food Can End Obesity is an
unfitted title for this article. Freedman also exaggerates the ability of the processed food: in fact, these
roundly demonized [fast food] companies could do far more for the public s health in five years than
the wholesome food movement is likely to accomplish in the next 50 (511). He is stating the processed
foods could make people become healthier in just a few years than the whole food would in decades.
Freedman has not only generalized the processed food to be healthy, but he has also generalized the
whole food to be unhealthy as well. As I have stated earlier, while the processed foods could provide
with all the necessary nutrients but it would be risky to say that processed foods are healthy as a

Persuasive Essay On Parents
There are many forms of parenting and as a parent myself, I am faced daily with decisions regarding
my children. It s my beliefs and decision that should affect how I chose to parent them. However, in
today s society how much slack are we as parents really given? We are sometimes forced into making
parental decisions solely based on state laws and regulations. Parents are being held legally
responsible for declining medical decisions regarding their children. Parent are also being intimidated
by medical professionals for choosing not to vaccinate their children. Judges are ruling against legally
fit parents for seeking second options. Parents should not be fighting the court system for medical
rights. Nor should parents feel bullied by the government system. They should have the right to
choose how they parent. There are many different parenting styles, who gets to dictate which is right?
Not every family is the same, so why should the government be allowed to decide these rights and
responsibilities. No two families share the same beliefs and religions. Parenting should not be a one
size fits all. Parents should have the right to make medical and educational decisions for their children
without government interference unless there is proof of neglect or abuse, because parents ultimately
have their children best interest at heart. From the moment your child is born, they are immediately
given a series of routine test, ointments, vaccines that unless its optional by the state you have no say
in. Texas law requires health care providers apply antibiotic eye ointment to all newborns within two
hours of birth. Antibiotic eye ointment is routinely been given to newborns. It s used to prevent
neonatal conjunctivitis and complications such as blindness that can be contracted through the birth
canal of untreated gonorrhea or chlamydia mothers. Refusing to comply is a Class B misdemeanor.
Like any treatment, it comes with side effects. These can be minimal but can cause redness, itching,
stinging, or burning of the eye after applying the eye ointments to newborns. (Erythromycin
Ophthalmic) Some may argue the risk of side effects is worth not having a newborn with serious
complications like blindness. It s a valid

  • 2. Allochthon Hypothesis From the above section we already talked about the rocks of Roberts mountains allochthon and autochthon. In this section, we are trying to evaluate the Roberts mountains allochthon and autochthon according to the Mediterranean analog hypothesis proposed by Burchfield and Royden (1991), and modified by Dickinson (2000) rather than island arc collision hypothesis. Burchfield and Royden (1991) cast doubted the island arc collision hypothesis because: 1. the arc west of the North American continent and its structures seem more to face west rather than east. 2. The Havallah basin sediments deposited before and after the emplacement of the Roberts mountains allochthon. 3. Deposition occurred in a paleogeographic location that should have been occupied ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the east facing subduction zone, a thrust belt developed as an accretionary prism, and the trench retreated within the subduction zone (slab rollback) caused the thrust to migrate toward the continental margin. As a result, Havallah basin formed within an enlarging extensional region to the west of the trench and thrust belt. So how does slab rollback work? The slab rollback occurs when an older oceanic crust, which may lose heat by thermal contraction or another reason; thus becomes colder and denser than other slabs, then subducting at a steep angle. The slab rollback may pull the upper plate, as the colder slab collapses into the asthenosphere; it can roll back through the mantle. As a result it causes an extension in the overlying plate (example an enlarged extensional region in the Havallah basin) and possibly backarc spreading. Havallah sedimentation began during the emplacement of the allochthon, in an extending region to the west. Low grade rocks formed in the Osgood Mountains were exposed by tectonic unroofing during extension and unconformably overlain by post tectonic Pennsylvanian sedimentary rocks. In the hanging wall of the antler subduction system, arc volcanic that may have been erupted near or within the backarc extension, were extended and subside during or shortly after ... • 3. The Dictator s Learning Curve By William J. Dobson Bouazizi exposed the real truths behind the rampant inflation, unemployment, and police brutality problems that were really plaguing Tunisia. Once the few videos and comments started to get through the Internet blocking efforts to the world media then the movement gained national attention and became a bigger influence on toppling the existing government. In Egypt we saw the blocking of Twitter and Facebook happen; this seemed all too common and even fueled the emotion driven actions of the people not only of Egypt, but in Tunisia, Libya, Syria, and even into China later on. We saw countries pay their way out of the Arab Spring, block social media, and force propagandized local and international news. In the book The Dictator s Learning Curve by William J. Dobson, there is a chapter where he visits China during the Arab Spring and states that CNN was blocked throughout China to stop any threats, and to stop the Chinese citizens from seeing the outside world with the current situation unfolding. Dobson talks about in his book how on edge some of the governments were when he was visiting; stating that Omar Afifi had several cell phones at which he could be contacted on and skype where officials kept him informed about the unfolding uprisings in Egypt. When we consider the social and technological reasons for the uprising we also have to start thinking about where the uprising started and its significance to the geographical locations of the countries that were affected. • 5. Essay On Casino Royale When I first began reading this book, I assumed that it would be like the 2 previous books in the series: fast paced with good action and good characters, but more a fun read than anything else. It was going to be enjoyable in an Ocean s Eleven or Casino Royale way like its predecessors. And so going into this, my initial reaction was surprise. In the first chapter I was already delving into the past of Kat and Hale s powerful bond and the history of their relationship, something I thought would never be explained. Already, the book was surprising me with its depth of character development and hidden deeper meanings. Throughout the book the theme of the characters taking on much bigger and influential roles continued. I learned to love the characters not just as characters but real people; I learned to look at Kat s world not just as all bright, cheerful hues, but this book revealed the shadowy, dark shades of Kat s world as well: corruption, hurt, and lots of angst. But, powering through it all and saving the day was the infinite loyalty and love of her family. While reading the book, I don t think my reactions and responses varied greatly. However, they differed greatly from my reactions and responses while reading the previous books, when I was caught up more in the adventure and plot of the book. While those aspects of this book were equally enthralling as the other books, I reacted and responded more to the characters in this book. My reactions and responses to the ... • 6. All Summer Is A Day By Ray Bradbury Many centuries after the first spaceship landed on the moon, a group of brave rocket men and women did the unbelievable. The short story All summer is a day , by Ray Bradbury, takes place in the underground city of the planet Venus where tunnels roamed instead of streets. The land above them was submerged with endless pouring rain and deadly jungles. The sight of the sun was a rare miracle that only happened once every seven years. The children spent all their life in the enclosed underground tunnels, well all except for one. Margot was the only child who came to Venus when she was four, and the biggest difference was that she still remembered the times when the glowing sun gave warmth and hope. Thesis Statement (1 3 sentences) Her past experiences and opportunities caused the children of Venus to be jealous of her. As a result, the children harassed Margot in disbelief. The gloomy, enclosed environment affects everyone greatly. The message of the story shows how the environment and the people around you can affect you because of their own lack of experiences. The author portrays this when the children harass the main character, he also uses craft moves to show isolation of the main character, and how depressed she is as a result. To begin, the author shows that the harassment Margot goes through is due to the children lack of knowledge about the sun since they have spent their whole life on Venus. Throughout the day, Margot brings back memories of the sun. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. The Relief and Mistakes of the American Red Cross Makes Undoubtedly, the American Red Cross has done many wonders over the course of its existence. Whether it is providing relief from disasters, aiding the less fortunate nationally and internationally or saving lives with their blood program, the Red Cross has always been there to help the world become a safer place to live in. Most recently, this organization has had a strong impact in the recovery of Superstorm Sandy and Hurricane Isaac, providing food and water, multiple shelters for people that have lost their homes and even counseling during such a devastating time ( Top 20 Accomplishments ). It can t be disputed that since its inception, the Red Cross has had a lasting impact on the overall well being of American citizens, instilling confidence in them that if a disaster does strike in their lives, the Red Cross is there to ease the pain a bit. However, much like any other organization, the Red Cross has had its fair share of flaws and mishaps. A crucial mistake in the business world may result in a substantial loss of money or even a sentence to prison. Unfortunately for the Red Cross, everything they do and participate in deals with the lives of everyday individuals. As a result, if their jobs aren t done correctly or mistakes are being made, it could put the lives of thousands at risk and therefore jeopardize their institution. Some may argue that in several instances, there has been mistakes made that have directly and negatively impacted the lives of Americans. An ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Caribbean Integration CARIBBEAN POLITICS and SOCIETY Caribbean Integration Rationale for Integration. The Caribbean remains fragmented both economically and politically as a result of competition and conflict among the European powers. Fragmentation is in part the product of a long history as separate colonies of a metropolitan power or powers. It is also in part the psychological effects on people of separation by sea. The case for regional integration is both simple and irrefutable. First we are small and we need to achieve economies of scale. • 11. Theme Of Baptism In To Kill A Mockingbird Connection: The biblical story, Jonah and the Whale, is an example of Baptism. God gave Jonah a job, but he set off in another direction. Suddenly, there was a storm. The boat was tossing in the middle of the sea. No one on the boat knew what to do. Jonah knew that the storm was because of him. God was with him. Everyone prayed for forgiveness and they threw Johan into the water. The storm immediately stopped. God heard Jonah s prayers and sent a fish to rescue him. Jonah lived in the fish s stomach for three days. He prayed to God for help. When it was safe, the fish spit Jonah out onto the land. Jonah was cleansed when he returned back to the land. Being tossed into the water was symbolic. He was reborn after the incident. Connection: In this section, Foster talks about the importance of geography. It can define a character. An example of when geography defines a character is in To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. The character Boo Radley s house is described as a scary, threatening place. The reader infers the that the character who lives in the house is also scary and someone to avoid. The mysterious Boo Radley keeps the reader engaged throughout the book, but by the end we learn that he is not as mean as we originally believed. Connection: Pure originality is impossible when writing. When it comes to fairytales, ideas seem to often overlap. Often times in fairytales characters good overcomes evil. This is true for Aladdin, Cinderella, and Snow White. In Aladdin, Jazmine and Aladdin fall in love, but since Aladdin is not a prince, he cannot marry Jazime. When he discovers the Genie, he turns himself into a prince. In return, Jafar tries everything to kill Aladdin so he can marry Jazmine for her wealth. Ultimately, Jafar s behavior catches up to him and he loses his freedom, as he is trapped in a lamp. Connection: A character s physical qualities tell the reader a lot about the character. In Frankenstein, the creature s deformity depicts his nature. He is scary, powerful, and cunning. He acts out of isolation. People are afraid of him and beat him, so he is forced to retreat to places where he cannot be seen by people. He is only able to come out at night. His deformity dictates how other ... • 12. The Demon Lover Literary Analysis In the realms of the World Wars, love is simply expressed through heartfelt words dancing across the margins of decorative paper. In the short story, The Demon Lover by Elizabeth Bowen, the main character endures the hardships of retaining mental sanity when facing a past lover returning home years later. In the same way, the poem Answers to Letters by Tomas Tranströmer explains in first person point of view the overbearing weight of anxious thoughts arising from time elapsing. Using comparable symbols, The Demon Lover and Answers to Letters characters illustrate how unstable weather patterns and faltering mental stability depict their roles in society, despite the roles of The Demon Lover revolving around a supernatural force. Enduring the uncontrollable force above, the weather illustrates the sudden intensities of the plot in The Demon Lover . Mrs. Drover embodies the perfect illusion of a lovesick puppy , the weather mocking her as bright August sky. The couple utters their goodbyes in the nearby garden. The emotions run high and promises of returning leave the young soldier s lips with such devotion. According to author Elizabeth Bowen, the clouds have a mind of their own: It was dark; they were saying good bye under a tree (348). The weather is speaking beneath the words on the page, foreshadowing the turmoil that lies ahead. After years of no contact, the letter arriving at the old London home throws Mrs. Drover off guard. • 14. The Prospect Of Human Genetic Engineering Rafi Ebne Rafi Dr. McKinnis ENG 201 April 8th, 2015 On the Prospect of Human Genetic Engineering In the year of 2013 roughly 7.6 million people died of cancer, 1.5 million people died of AIDS, and another 70,000 of Cystic Fibrosis ( World Cancer Day ; CF Foundation ). What do all these diseases have in common? Modern medicine has no guaranteed way of curing them. The fact of the matter is that we as a society don t know much about these, and some other life threatening diseases. As a result, more years of research need to be undergone in order develop unique drugs that may cure these, and other complex diseases . How long do you suppose it will take for a drug to come forth? Five, ten, thirty years? What if it doesn t even exist? How many people do you suppose will die in the meantime? Now my point is not to make one think that there is no method to curing diseases similar to those previously mentioned. As a matter of fact, my point is to shine light upon a promising method that has been showing results: genetic engineering. With the advancements of science, genetic engineering is becoming a more and more developed procedure that has already saved the lives of those terminally ill. But where one problem is solved, another arises. With the ever growing social prominence of genetic engineering, ethical concerns are reaching a frenzied state. Advantage Of Liberal Arts College For those who want to further their schooling in a way that focuses on undergraduate studies and creating a well rounded education a liberal arts college is the perfect opportunity to achieve a higher education. Some of the oldest liberal arts colleges in the United States date back to the 1600s. There are many advantages to studying at a liberal arts college. A liberal arts education can give students the opportunity to have a smaller environment and a well rounded education. The smaller environment that a liberal arts college provides to students is very helpful for a successful college experience. A smaller number of undergrad students enrolled into one s college translates to having smaller class sizes. Jessica Velasco explains, Average class sizes at liberal arts colleges are usually less than 30 students (Velasco, College Raptor). The transition from small high school classes to college is easier if the college classes are similar in size. This is especially helpful for students who have trouble focusing and learn best in smaller environments. It is easier to get help when necessary. Hand in hand with smaller class sizes is close relationships with professors. Velasco illustrates, Classes, including introductory courses, are taught by professors at liberal arts colleges... because each class is usually taught by a professor, this means they generally have the opportunity to spend more quality time with their students, getting to know them, evaluating and critiquing their work much more closely, and serving as mentors (Velasco, College Raptor). At most universities lecture classes have hundreds of students. At those institutions, it is nearly impossible to be on a first name basis with the professors. With a large number of students, there is often no time to build relationships. The small environment that liberal arts colleges pride themselves on allows easy access to professors. They are able to answer questions and personally help their students. Finally, many liberal arts colleges have many student activities to take part in. Liberal arts colleges usually have fewer student organizations and activities than larger universities, but participation tends to be higher, Velasco writes. Time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. The Pros And Cons Of Social Enempreneurship Creation of Jobs aiming on changing business models It is not that innovation and automation have resulted in unemployment or will lead to unemployment instead innovation is actually intrinsic to the changing business models across the world. Today s is an economy of innovation . We need to create innovative jobs that would complement the innovative machines and technologies that are created. David Nordof and Vint Cerf recently in their book Disrupting Unemployment argue that there is a need to develop a people centered rather than a task centered economy. There is a need to create value of people rather than just focusing on lower costs of tasks. This essay argues that there needs to be a two fold strategy to rethink the unemployment crises taking it away from a superficial entanglement of acronyms and arcane charts. The two fold strategy includes: Policy Matrix Change Social Reformation through Social Entrepreneurship There are new complex issues which stand at the end of policy makers end. 1. • 33. Polis Aristotle Aristotle contends that achieving human happiness and well being is impossible without living in a city because human beings are political animals and therefore politics is an elemental part of the good life. Aristotle bases this claim off of the argument that politics and city formation is a natural part of being human because humans have an inherent impulse to create associations and partnerships that eventually evolve into political communities, or the polis. These partnerships arise first from two individual s who need each other to survive (1252b) then to households which extend to become villages (1252b16), to eventually fully formed self sufficient cities (1252b27). Aristotle s argues that the polis is prior to all other partnerships (1253a20) because the partnerships are parts that make up the whole, the polis, and therefore all humans are drawn to create and associate with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By virtue of establishing the partnerships as natural, Aristotle is successful in asserting that the political is fundamental to human nature and in order for individuals to experience the good life they must be members of the city (1253a20). To back this claim, Aristotle uses a metaphor of the city as the body and the citizen as the limb and argues that comparable to the limbs separating from the body, the individual is not self sufficient when separated from the city and therefore possesses a natural impulse towards creating and remaining in the polis (1253a25). Furthermore, Aristotle supports this claim by contending the one who is in need of nothing through being self sufficient is no part of a city and so is either a beast or a god (1253a27). As a result, all individuals need the city to achieve the good life, and if they do not need the city they are not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Whether it be the mastering of a double pirouette or the acquiring of a new accent, I can remember shows based upon what I collected. This year is not an exception, but it is certainly a special case. Being a senior has been a rocky road, but in turbulence I have found wisdom. After playing Bert most recently in Mary Poppins, I did more than just refine my tap dancing. I got to experience firsthand the miraculous power of theatre. My community is close knit, so when tragedy struck, no one was left unaffected. During the months of preparation for the fall musical, two students lost their lives to depression, both of them being in my senior class. There was no emotional respite as the incidents occurred only one month apart. Needless to say, daily life was put on hold. The vibrant hallways that I had known so well became inert. Smiles became a rarity. The silence of each day was palpably heavy. As the company trekked along one scene at a time, regardless of our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the weeks that passed, I came to realize that each line, song, and dance was a chance to improve someone s day. I had known that before, of course, but never in the somber and very real context that I was facing. I would constantly refer to the show as the shining light that our town needs . This was true in a literal yet poetic sense. The lights on stage would act directly as lights of hope for those attending. People believe that being overweight is the main cause of obesity. Therefore, it is a common believe that processed food is the number reason of obesity. David H. Freedman, however, opposes this view. He published his article How Junk Food Can End Obesity in the Atlantic magazine stating that processed food is not as bad as we deem it is. Freedman claims that the whole foods are equally fattening and unhealthy (507). As for my personal opinion, healthy is a very broad term. Therefore, I feel that How Junk Food Can End Obesity is an unfitted title for this article. Freedman also exaggerates the ability of the processed food: in fact, these roundly demonized [fast food] companies could do far more for the public s health in five years than the wholesome food movement is likely to accomplish in the next 50 (511). He is stating the processed foods could make people become healthier in just a few years than the whole food would in decades. • 39. Persuasive Essay On Parents There are many forms of parenting and as a parent myself, I am faced daily with decisions regarding my children. It s my beliefs and decision that should affect how I chose to parent them. However, in today s society how much slack are we as parents really given? We are sometimes forced into making parental decisions solely based on state laws and regulations. Parents are being held legally responsible for declining medical decisions regarding their children. Parent are also being intimidated by medical professionals for choosing not to vaccinate their children. Judges are ruling against legally fit parents for seeking second options. Parents should not be fighting the court system for medical rights. Nor should parents feel bullied by the government system. They should have the right to choose how they parent. There are many different parenting styles, who gets to dictate which is right? Not every family is the same, so why should the government be allowed to decide these rights and responsibilities. No two families share the same beliefs and religions. Parenting should not be a one size fits all. Parents should have the right to make medical and educational decisions for their children without government interference unless there is proof of neglect or abuse, because parents ultimately have their children best interest at heart. From the moment your child is born, they are immediately given a series of routine test, ointments, vaccines that unless its optional by the state you have no say in.
