From The Late Eighteenth To The Mid Twentieth Century,
From the late eighteenth to the mid twentieth century, European countries predominantly England
and France oversaw the expansion and collapse of their empires, during which time they had
come to understand their Eastern colonies through the lens of Orientalism. A term coined by the
literary critic Edward Said in 1978, Orientalism refers to the project through which Western artists
and intellectuals fabricated an image of the Orient an area stretching between India and the Bible
Lands in order to legitimise their control over it. This project characterised the East as an inferior,
post civilised realm, where order had been displaced by as Said writes an Oriental backwardness.
However, by the end of the nineteenth... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Having grown out of the post war Dada movement, Surrealism emerged in the early 1920s, formed
by a group of artists who aimed to challenge the bourgeois values that they saw as being
responsible for World War I. As Archer Straw writes, It is through this departure from redundant
aspects of Western culture that these avant garde figures became enamoured with Africa; however,
it is apparent that this obsession raised many problems.
One example of Man Ray s work that reveals an interest in negrophilia is his Portrait of Nancy
Cunard, created in 1926 (Figure 1). In this photograph, Cunard a socialite and ardent negrophile
is captured wearing thick ivory bangles , a leopard print dress, and dark kohl eye makeup, details
which reveal a predilection for African forms. By adopting this appearance, Cunard becomes a
pseudo exotic personality, expressing both her and Man Ray s desire to separate themselves from
Europe through racial otherness . However, although they attempt to achieve this they appear
unsuccessful in doing so, as this portrait merely suggests racial difference, a quality that figures like
Cunard could exploit to further their reputation in the West. Moreover, while the avant garde
praised such images for supposedly championing equality between black and white people, Archer
Straw correctly identifies them as regressive, as they perpetuate the myth that black culture can be
understood

The Issues Of Jeju Tourism
Currently, the issues of Jeju tourism arise by the internal and external factors. The external factor
is the massive Chinese tourists. As after the Korea government offer the visa free access the Jeju
Island for chinese tourists, it brings some issues for Jeju. The massive Chinese tourists bring some
benefit on Jeju economy, but soon there arise some issues, such as crowded transport, depletion
resource and local resident s unsatisfied. The Jing Daily (2015) has posted an article Tension
Mounts as Chinese Tourists overtake Jeju Island . In this article, it mentioned the issues arise by the
mass Chinese tourists, related to economic, social and local cultural. The Chinese travelers have
become the most profitable tourists in the world and some countries start to change their tourism
regulation and policies to Chinese, such as Emirate allowed the extra baggage for Chinese tourists
to shop (Ryan 2014). The South Korean government found the way to increase their tourism
industry and grow their economy. They offer the visa free access to Jeju Island for Chinese tourists
which has an obvious benefit after this policy start. The Jeju provincial government director Kim
Nam sun said that the increasing Chinese tourists help them raise tax revenue and built a world
resort destination brand for Jeju (Nam 2015). However, as more Chinese tourists visit Jeju and
more investment in Jeju, this lead to some Jeju residents worried about their local environment. As

The intrusion erupted from the third floor. It was immediately unknown to our class if the
troublemaker was a student, teacher, or a nun. The detonation released squeals of laughter. In short,
this sneeze entirely disrupted our academic progress, at least for a bit. Gone were the doldrums of
a hushed Fourth Grade Classroom. In contrast to the euphoria, this sneeze of sneezes awakened in
me a new and better understanding. That is, the inability to master, much less control our physical

Ah Choo
Unlike a simple sneeze, this was a two part explosive nasal oral unrepressed force. Depriving the
instigator, or better, its victim, of his anonymity, dignity, including self composure. A barreling echo
of sound waves hurtling through the vaunted vestibule of an unassuming school building. Then
crashing into my ear, with an unmistakable booming rhapsody. A refrain of Hail Mary, Jesus
Christ! and Oh, God! Help Me! from a solitary, beleaguered, then surrendering soul. I confess a
certain religiosity, as I was attending Roman Catholic Elementary School. Servicing us was a brood
of Irish Italian nuns together with laypersons. All devoutly fulfilling the task of educating their

Comparative Analysis Of The Ghost In Two Hamlet Movies Essay
Comparative Analysis Of The Ghost In Two Hamlet Movies
The play Hamlet, Prince of Denmark , by William Shakespeare being of such a complicated
variety of themes, contains many different story lines as well as being very extensive in nature
makes it quite a challenge to be produced and acted. On paper, the reader can translate things, as
they like. Since Shakespeare is not around to tell us the meaning of every theme or the truth about
every nook and cranny about his works. It is up to the reader to decide what the importance of
everything is. Thus when a producer decides to create a film based on Hamlet it is most certain that
his creation will vary from any others. Each will create their own version of the story, stressing some

In the Ghost, the eyes are terrifying evidence of his supernatural ordeals; on a live character, they
look artificial and take away from the ghost s individuality as a supernatural being.) When we
hear the ghost speak it is clear that this Ghost is angry. It is also clear that he is a supernatural
being and wants things to get done. But what disturbs me is that there is very little, if any
emotion being displayed here. The most immediate response is that I could not get a sense that
the two Hamlets truly cared for one another. Consequently, Hamlet s revenge comes across as
politically motivated more than anything else. We begin to question if the Ghost is an evil one or
this spirit is sincere. Brannagh seemed to stress the political aspects of this more than the love and
the honor of the family. I didn t get the sense that there was any emotions displayed between these
two characters. This brings me to question the motive and origin of the Ghost. This would also
justify the way that Hamlet delayed taking any course of action whatsoever and stalled to do
anything at all, seemingly incapacitated. Everything is now questionable. Is the Ghost an evil
spirit? Are its motives political? Why was there no emotion displayed by either one of them?
In Zeffirelli s version of Hamlet the second appearance of the Ghost was the complete opposite of
Branagh s. We are presented with a touching presentation of the Ghost. There is no horror

attention of the policy makers and academician s. The Indian banking system has undergone
significant transformation following financial sector reforms. It is adopting international best
practices with a vision to strengthen the banking sector. The Indian banking sector has been facing
serious problems of raising Non Performing Assets (NPAs). The NPAs growth has a direct impact
on profitability of banks. Several prudential and provisioning norms have been introduced, and
these are pressurizing banks to improve efficiency and trim down NPAs to improve the financial
health of the banks. In the background of these developments, this study strives to examine the state

Research Paper On The Mandela Effect
The Mandela Effect is a collective misremembering of a fact or event. This phenomenon originated
in 2010 when Fiona Broome, an author, researcher, and paranormal consultant, explained online
that she thought Nelson Mandela had died while he was in prison. To her surprise many other
people had the same exact memory as her. Some people even remember learning about his death in
school. Other famous examples of the Mandela Effect are the misremembering of famous lines
from movies, the spelling of Bernstein bears and Looney Tunes, and whether Curious George has a
tail. There are many theories that try to explain this phenomenon. They are anything from what the
brain wants to see to parallel universes to false memory syndrome. The Mandela Effect... Show

This is the study focused on developing technology based on the principles of quantum theory (
Quantum Computing , 2010). According to the creator Geordie Rose, The computer is able to enter
other dimensions to bring back the answers to questions that we haven t even thought of yet! Not
only that, but they are taking resources back into our dimension from wherever the other one lies (
Forget Mandela Effects, Think Quantum Pollution , 2016). Parallel universes overlap with ours
which makes it easy for the computer to tap into them. It is claimed that testing of these computers
causes some of the other universes to slip into ours. Another theory within quantum computing is
quantum tunneling. This is a two way communication pathway where Qbits enter other dimensions
and burrow into a parallel world. Upon receipt of a solution from another dimension it must be
translated back to a form humans can use ( Forget Mandela Effects, Think Quantum Pollution ,

Informing staff about changes that are going to happen can reduce their resistance to change.
This will increase the motivation of all employees and James as everyone is up to date of what
is going on and feel involved within Loch Tay Park. This can take effect immediately, a room
would need booked and have all staff attending. It may be hard to arrange a suitable time to have
a meeting were everyone is able to attend. It should be discussed amongst staff of when team
meeting will be held whether that may be once a week or once a month
3.2Communication
3.21Arguments amongst staff
Key issue
Customers had reported problems to the office staff and sometimes these problems are not being
sent to Adalbert the Maintenance Manager. This is causing conflict between the office staff and
Adalbert or members on his team. Arguments have taken place in front of customers. This is then
affecting the customers as the issues they raised are not being dealt with, which could end up
costing the business as they are already heavily relying on their existing customers for business.
This is important to resolve this issue with immediate effect to help retain the existing customers
and reduce the conflict between the office staff and Adalbert and his team.
Objective
To resolve this issue would be to set a procedure in place for reporting problems and should be
followed. This would be a way where the customer reports the problem, and then it gets
acknowledged by the office staff,

A News Article On Fake News
Ireland is now officially accepting Trump refugees from America . This was the headline of a
news article posted on Facebook that nearly one million people clicked on. To the unsuspecting
eye, this title could be viewed as truth and might ultimately spread by word of mouth to other
uninformed individuals. Unfortunately, the numerous pairs of eyes that scanned the sentences
written in this article soon realized that this news piece was nothing but an instance of fake news

In order to solve this problem, I believe it is the duty of the American citizen to educate
themselves regarding the validity of their news source. Individuals and nations owe it to
themselves and the world to become informed . It is important for American citizens to be
informed regarding the falsehoods of fake news, as an informed nation would be less susceptible
to believing and spreading false information. Within the scope of American society, it is a
relatively feasible task to validate the degree of truth in a news story. One manner in which an
individual can become more informed in regards to the validity of a specific news source is to use
the fact checking resources on Snopes.com. Snopes is a website dedicated to assigning truth ratings
to articles through the process of first hand contact with the primary source of a publication, contact
with experts in the subject area relevant to the information presented in the article, and a meticulous
comparison and contrast with other news outlets . A website such as Snopes should not be relied
on entirely however to decipher whether an article is fake news or not. Individuals should also take
some time to perform other precautionary actions such as, conducting background research on the
authors of news articles,

The Trojan Women
Euripides: Past Time Activist for Women In The Trojan Women, there are four enduring women
who dominate the play and only two men who say anything at all. Moving us with their rants and
dramatic reactions, these women engulf the audience in overwhelming grief and irresistible pride.
Euripides emphasizes these four women to help us understand one of his main themes. Hecubawith
her pride, Cassandra with her virginity and uncanny wisdom, Andromachewith her misery and
heartache, and Helen with her powerful, seductive reasoning all represent superior illustrations of
feminism throughout the play.
The first woman introduced is Hecuba, who grieves for her family, people, and ravaged homeland.
She says, Sorrow, my sorrow. What sorrow is there... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While frantically celebrating her appalling marriage to King Agamemnon, giving praise to Hymen,
the god of marriage, she says, O Mother, crown my triumph with a wreath (I, i, 361). Here she
does not show signs of terrible heartache about being sent to a bridal bed that will ruin her life s
work and sacrifice her virginity. Until she begins to tell her mother how she will try to take
revenge for her family does she show pain by saying, I shall kill [Agamemnon] mother, lay his
house as low as he laid ours, make him pay for all he made my father suffer, brothers . . . (I, i,
367 369). Raving, she prophecies, If Apollo lives, my marriage will be bloodier than Helen s,
and in time we see that she is right with the fall of Greece (I, i, 364 365). She also makes an
interesting point on the defeat of Troy. She explains that the Greeks are just there to fight and
conquer, and that their families are not there to soften their hearts. The Trojans fight as a family
for their people. The Trojans have lost, but they died with great honor trying to save and protect
their country and kinsmen. Cassandra refers to those soldiers, her family, who fought with a
final divination, Brothers, in Troy s earth laid, my father, a little time and I am with you. You
dead, I shall come to you a victor. Those ruined by my hand who ruined us (I, i, 469 472). Even
though she is portrayed as mad, the evidence of her wisdom, whether it be given to her by the god
she has devoted her life, or just insane predictions, shows us that women could be intelligent and
know of things to come just as men. Giving us our second example of feminism, Cassandra shows
her intellect equivalent to

Technology And Its Impact On The Medical Field
In the world we live in today technology is always advancing; having many great effects in our
personal lives and in the medical field, one of which being the technical advances on magnetic
resonance imaging (MRI). MRIs have been a great resource for us to use to help diagnose
people in a way we have never been able to before. A magnetic resonance imaging scan uses a
large magnet, radio waves, and a computer to create a detailed cross sectional image of the
patient s internal organs and structures, (Lam). Being able to examine patients in a noninvasive
way and take pictures of what their organs look like is a huge medical advance proving to us that
we can help diagnose more people in a less harmful way and are able to treat them faster and
give them a better prognosis. But we cannot forget what came before the MRI, which was
nuclear resonance imaging (NMR). NMR is the key piece to magnetic resonance imaging and if
it weren t for the discovery of NMR and it s many uses we wouldn t have MRI scanners. The
evolution of MRIs has left a profound impact on the scientific community, particularly in the field
of medicine. Before bringing up the topic of MRI scanners it would be useful to have some
background information on the science behind it all. Starting with nuclear resonance imaging, what
it is, the discovery itself, and how it became relevant to the topic of MRI scanners. NMR

The Bible And Divine Communication In The Bible
Divine communication: the contact between a higher power and a mortal. This is a constant theme
in many works of literature throughout the ages. Divine communication comes in many forms such
as oracles, prophets and direct communication with God. In the Bible, mortals often have direct
contact with God, who is seen as a father figure. In contrast, divine communication in Oedipus the
Kingcomes in the form of oracles and prophets, which are seen as an abstract entity. While both
God and the Oracles have the same intent of guiding and advising those involved, individuals were
more apt to listen to divine communication in the Biblebecause it derived from a fatherly figure
while individuals tended to reject divine intervention in Oedipus the King because it came from an
abstract source.
The Bible, which is the most sacred text in the Christian religion, has many occurrences of
individuals communicating with God. In each example of contact, divine communication seeks to
help individuals worship God. In the very beginning of Genesis, the creation of life. In the second
creation story God says to Eve you shall not eat of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the
garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die (Genesis 3:3). Here, God is warning Adam and Eve
of the dangers that surround them in the Garden of Eden and the precautions they must take. This
proves the goal God s contact with humans on earth is to benefit them rather than hurt them. Rather

protagonist. The protagonist is a professional faster; he fasts to prove he is the best. The conflict
of the story consists of Man versus society, in this case the Hunger Artist serves as Man and his
audience serves as society. The conflict starts because the audience does not understand the reason
why the Hunger Artists fasts. Eventually the audience loses interest because the Hunger Artist is no

The two realities, what is and what others think, created a mockery between the circus audience
and the Hunger Artist. He wanted his work to be legitimate, but still had to obey his manger and
audience s demands. According to Kafka, It was impossible to fight against this lack of
understanding, against this world of misunderstanding. This means that the more attention the
Hunger Artist received, the more difficult it was for society to understand the meaning behind his
actions. Consequently, he would never be able to achieve the goals he hoped for. During his stay
at the circus no one believed that the Hunger Artist could fast for a long time. The audience
eventually got tired of seeing someone just sit and fast for entertainment. The audience wanted to
witness something more exciting, which led to his replacement, a tiger. ...People got used to the
strange notion that in these times they would want to pay attention to a hunger artist, and with
this habitual awareness the judgment on him was pronounced. He might fast as well as he could
and he did but nothing could save him anymore. People went straight past him. (Kafka)

art was amusing, and he was simply becoming a freak show. As stated by Jstor.org, During his

Paul Olsen Case Essay
The Paul Olsen case describes the situation for a decision that Paul Olsen needs to make. Paul

Although the restaurant industry is perceived to have high risk of failure, the risk of a
restaurant failing is not too different from other small businesses. Parsa et al. quantified the risk
of failure at 26% in the first year and 57% by year 3. He also described several factors that can
influence the risk of failure. Those include physical location, firm size, speed of growth,
differentiation from other restaurants in the market, adapting to external trends, and management
experience. In terms of location and differentiation, Paul s bar will be located in a new
development designed to attract affluent customers and with very few competitors. Paul s small
firm size increases risk because of barriers to attract partners (i.e. suppliers and bankers are
prejudiced against smaller firms) and growth that may be too rapid to manage. On the other hand,
Robert already has experience in the restaurant business and should know how to run the bar and
subsequent restaurant. Their choice of a piano bar may be in response to local trends that favor
success.
A final question is whether Paul should apply his student loan money to the startup costs. Since his
living expenses and tuition are already paid by the Ford Foundation grant, the loan money is not
immediately needed. The contract in exhibit 3 shows that his services towards opening the bar are
valued at $17,500 in addition to the cash contribution. Therefore, his percentage claim towards any

Margaret of Scotland, so known as Margaret de Wessex and Queen Margaret of the Scotland, was
an English princess of the House of Wessex. Margaret was sometimes called В«The Pearl of the
Scotland . Born in exile in Hungary. Margaret and her family returned to England in 1057, but ran
away towards the kingdom of the Scotland after the Norman conquest of England of 1066.
Around 1070 Margaret married Malcolm III of the Scotland, and became Queen of Scotland.
The King always associated his wife with the business of the kingdom and his reign for forty
years was of the happiest: eight children in a very close home and a country managed well in
spite of fights with the Norman invaders. She was a pious woman, and among the numerous acts
of charity, she created a ferry through Firth of Forth for the pilgrims going to the abbey of
Dunfermline, which gave the cities of South Queensferry and North Queensferry their names.
Margaret was the mother of three kings of Scotland and a husband of the queen of England.
According to Saint Marguerite s life, attributed by to Turgot de Durham, she died in Castle of
Edinburgh in 1093, a few days after having received the news of the death of her husband in
battle. In 1250 she was canonized by pope, and her rests were interred in a sanctuary in the abbey of

Cool Hand Luke Hierarchy
Society is built up of a group of individuals who are organized into a community based off of
similar beliefs and values regardless if that is religiously, culturally or other purpose based. In every
society there are rules and regulations established, norms created and punishments carried out for
members participating in deviant activities. In the movie Cool Hand Luke directed by Stuart
Rosenberg, Lucas Jackson the main character is painted as a non conformist after destroying
parking meters while under the influence and thus is sentenced two years in prison. In the new
environment Luke soon learns that this correctional prison consists of numerous rules that must be

Although prior to his arrest Luke was still unimpressionable and non conforming to society, his
actions did not influence others significantly until he entered prison. During his time in prison
Luke demonstrates his lack of acceptance to the system by continuously talking back to his
superiors and escaping the prison multiple times. Escaping the prison camp once more, this time
with Dragline, Luke is betrayed by his friend and is found in a church by the cops. Dragline
explains that in order to avoid getting shot all [Luke has] got to do is give up nice and quiet
(Carroll Rosenberg, 1967). Luke instead looks out the church window and mocks the Captain by
saying what we ve got here is a failure to communicate (Carroll Rosenberg, 1967). Although
through this last act of rebellion Luke is shot and killed, his statement to the Captain exemplifies
Luke s message that he will not conform to the system regardless if he is punished, brutally hurt or
killed. Although Luke could have given up peacefully, he chose to go against the normative and die.
By surrendering, he would lose his own identity and be forced to succumb to the social behaviour
and regulations associated with the prison environment and so with this last act of rebellion Lucas

How Did The Battle Of Gettysburg Changed America
Gettysburg is beyond significance in so many ways that have changed America. The Battle of
Gettysburg was fought in July 1863 where the Confederate army led by General Robert E Lee
invaded the north of the Potomac river and declared war on the Union which was under the
command of Major General George G. Meade. There was as much as 70,100 men who fought with
The Confederate Army of North Virginia and about 93,700 men who fought with the other side
which was The Federal Army of the Potomac/Union. The Battle ended with the victory of the Union
but sadly during the war there fell around 50,000 casualties.

The Attack on Pearl Harbor Essay
December 7, 1941, was one of the worst attacks on the United States in U.S. history. Of that day
2,403 soldiers were killed in action, 1,178 were wounded in action. Numerous U.S. armed forces
personnel were misjudged, which allowed the Japanese to carry out this terrible attack. Not only did
the Japanese hit the U.S. where they knew it would hurt the most, but it crippled the United States

Not only did the United States freeze all Japanese assets under U.S. control but it halted all sales
of oil to Japan as well. The United States tried to resolve the issues with Japan over these
differences, but a resolution could not be reached and war was inevitable (Borg). Why didn t
the U.S. suspect Pearl Harbor of being the place of attack? Since the United States halted all
exports to Japan, Japan declared war on the United States. Due to the lack of information, lack of
technology, and talks of peace by Japan, the United States had no idea where Japan was going to
hit. In January 1941, reports were received that Japan might attack Pearl Harbor but military
officials ignored these reports. They considered attacks on the Philippines and other European
countries to be more likely, underestimating Japan s ability to conceal preparations for such an
operation. Due to the success of the cryptanalysis machine called, Magic, American leaders
started breaking Japanese military operational codes. The codes that were deciphered showed
Japan was likely to take some type of military action (Irive). At that time, Japan had only a 12
month supply of petroleum to fuel its economy and war operations left. So the U.S. anticipated
Japan would act quickly! The only questions that could not be answered were when and where

Merchant Shipping Activities Remain The Pillar Of Global...
1. Introduction
According to the OECD (2012) merchant shipping activities remain the pillar of global trade,
with more than 80% of international cargo transported via sea. Throughout history, maritime
activities have played a vital role in shaping the world, from fishing, to the transport of people
during the age of discovery, as well as global trade. With world trade growth being the core
driving force behind maritime trade, other factors include; institutional and technological factors,
freedom of trade, as well as China s participation in the global economy (World Ocean Review
n.d.). As shipping is a derived demand, developments in maritime transport are thus shaped by
global macroeconomic trends. The biggest problem in shipping is the ability to forecast long term
freight rates, and current tools such as generalized autoagressive conditional heteroskedasticity
(GARCH) are often aimed at short term correlation. GARCH is an approach which helps describe
market volatility (Investopedia n.d.). Freight rates essentially drive the shipping industry in terms
of fleet size, and are often a good indication of the strength or weakness of the shipping market. The
volatile state of the current market means the accurate need for forecasting and keeping up to date
with trends is imperative. This report aims to provide an overview of current trends in merchant
shipping.

Sports And Sports Fanatics
My everyday routine is nothing short of excitement, the thrill I get from my everyday life is
seeing what is going on in the sports realm. Sports controls my everyday activities and makes me
who I am. I have an extreme passion and love for almost every sport known to mankind. I am a
hard core typical sports fanatic in today s world. The first reason is sports controls how I act and
talk. Secondly, I spend an excessive amount of time consuming sports activities. Perhaps the trait
the plays the biggest role in making me such a huge fanatic is the amount of money I put into
sports. First off, my vocabulary and the way I talk is often controlled by sports and my passion
for the games. Just like most sports fans I love to trash talk especially when my teams are
succeeding. For example, when I go to a sports event if my team is winning I love rubbing it in
the faces of the supporters for the opposing team. Sports affects how I talk by effecting my mood
based on my teams performances whether it is good or bad. For instance, when the Philadelphia
Eagleslose my mood is atrocious and I speak negatively with little hope in my voice. However,
when they win I use much more positive words through the week and I become upbeat. Often
people know if the Eagles won their game based on how I act and speak. The way I talk is one
aspect that proves that I am a typical sports fanatic that lets sports control my life. Secondly, it is

Women Among Roles, Power, And Rights Essay
The Women Among Roles, Power, and Rights in Islam. Since the mention of women in an
Islamic context brings the notion that women under the Islamic cover live an oppressive, unfair,
and patriarchal lifestyle. Defending this situation, Amina Wadud in her book Qur an and Woman,
Muslim progressives have since quite a while ago contended that it is not the religion but rather a
patriarchal elucidation and usage of the Qur an that has kept women mistreated. Wadud sees that
the sacred texts are not the problem source for the oppression that women experiencing under
Islam, she believes that who interpreting them and how they were interpreted are the sources of
the problem. Her book challenges the false concepts held by many Muslims (concepts that do not
reflect Quran and Islam) such as: men are superior to women , men are in charge of women ,
men are natural leaders , men rule the family and should get obedience from women , women
should not leave the house unless it is necessary , woman s voice is taboo , etc. The author breaks
down specific verses and key words that have been used to oppress and limit women, to show that
their real meaning defies such oppression and limitation. Wadud indicates that the misogynist
notion regarding Islam was created by the patriarchal and frequently unpleasant society toward
ladies; individuals in intense positions, similar to say, male religious pioneers, would have each
motivation to translate the Qur an similarly. Along

Sue Biermert explained to our junior class that night that life is about taking risks and facing
problem after problem. It was obviously not getting any easier by applying to colleges.
However, this is what we all had to do in order to feel like our parents in thirty years, because our
culture has forced us to be part of the system of going to some sort of university. She admitted
that many of us would feel rejected, literally and emotionally, in a year from our top choice.

Analysis Of Yoruban Culture In Death Of The King s Horsemen
Every culture has its own belief systems, values, and traditions that are important and related to
the history of its people. The Yoruban Culture is one that is close to nature and believes that life,
death, and ancestry are closely linked. The concept of life, death, and family plays a big role in the
play Death of the King s Horsemen, by Wole Soyinka. It starts when the king dies and Elesin Oba
has to sacrifice himself to fulfill his duties as the king s horseman. The Pilkings, a European family
living in Africa, are ignorant of the Yoruban cultural practices. Due to their ignorance, Elesin is kept
alive, and instead his son, Olunde, dies. The indigenous tribe failed to maintain their values, thus
weakening their cultural identity. Through the failure to maintain the tribe s cultural identity,
Soyinka proves that some cultures might not understand the traditions from other cultures because
not everyone knows the importance of maintaining cultural values Elesin Oba was distracted from
fulfilling his duty which caused a loss of cultural identity. Elesin is the king s horseman, and as his
duty he must die with the king to escort the king into the afterlife. Elesin ended up not sacrificing
himself at the right time, consequently failing his tribe. Since Elesin did not sacrifice himself he

From 1994 to 1997, the number of infants born in US is around 10 million (birth to 30months). A
baby, on average, uses five diapers per day for 30 months, for a total of 4500 diapers. At an average
retail price in the range of 18 to 27 cents per diapers, each baby represents about 1012.5 dollars in
retail sales. The retail dollar value of the US disposable diapers market was estimated to be 3.39
billion dollars in 1997. The retail dollar value of the training pants and young pants market was
estimated to be 595 million dollars in 1997.
Distribution channels
Disposable diapers and training pants are distributed principally through grocery stores,
drugstores and mass merchants. Grocery stores accounted for approximately 2 billion dollars in
diapers and training pants retail sale in 1997. Grocery store distribution of diapers and training
pants has been decreasing as a percentage of total retail sales since 1994. Grocery Stores accounted
for 51.2% of retail sales in 1997, compared with 60% in 1994.
Mass merchants and drugstores recorded diaper and training pants retail sales of about 1.9 billion

Public Representation In Australia
Truth and Representation
In today s world, the way we perceive events and situations is largely influenced by the public
representation of the issue. Media plays a big part in how we see certain situations, and helps shape
our attitudes towards them. One of the issues of current significgsance is the Australian immigration
policy and the treatment of Boat People . In this essay, I will argue that there is misrepresentations
of this issue in the public representation such as the media the tensions that are inherent include,
propaganda, the use of specific language and the widespread ignorance about demography. I will be

It was first used back in the year 1976 when the first Vietnamese immigrants arrived. Since then
the providing of transport for refugees is people smuggling , even though Australian law states
that it is a legal right to arrive without papers and ask for help (Shepherd 2012). The word
smuggling implies that the act is illegal, how can something that is legal for the refugees be illegal
for those who give them nothing more than a means of one way transport? Language such as this is
used to demonize and de value the immigrants and the people who try to bring them to our country.
Furthermore, this kind of language adds to the national ignorance about the issue.
Australia is a highly educated country by global standards and is supposed to be well informed

Role Of Education In Developing Countries
Education in Developing Countries
Nelson Mandela once said, Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to
change the world. Mandela was an activist and former President of South Africa. He believed that a
solid was one of the keys to getting people out of bondage, and allowing them to have access to a
better life. Have you ever wondered what it s like to live in a third world country, where basic
needs and necessities of life are not met? Or even a country with different morals and values than
the United States? Imagine not having the basic necessities of life or being able to have access to
something that we take for granted so much: a basic education. Many countries are faced with
poverty, and other living conditions that result in making it harder for children and even some
adults to have access to an adequate education. According to Global Issues, there are 2.2 billion
children in the world, with 1 billion of them living in poverty. When children are forced to live in
poverty, they are often deprived the basic educational tools such as pencils, paper, or even clothes;
this causes obtaining an education harder for that child. The conditions in third world countries
compared to the conditions in America, result in children being deprived an education they deserve.
Although third world countries have some sort of education, we can still do better in terms of the
conditions and the fairness that takes place in the education system.

Fascism In Russia
After World War One, many people yearned to return to normalcy; however, those desires were
rendered by the carnage and destruction caused by the war. In the twentieth century, fascism was a
response to many complicated social challenges and to the spread of Western liberal democracy.
For the growing fascist movements, the period after the First World War was seen as a time to
bring change to the nature of society, state, and international policies and laws. The rise of fascism
in Europe started in the early 1900 s due to cultural pessimism, the tragic consequences caused by
the war, and the incapability of liberal democratic regimes to cope with the war s consequences.

The current global economic and political climate has promoted the question of whether fascism is
on the rise again. Vladimir Putin is one of the few current world leaders who has shown fascist
tendencies. Putin s Russia has many elements that are reminiscent of the early 1900 s fascism.
There are many similarities between Putin s Russia and the fundamental principles of classical
fascism. Putin asserts Russian power by putting pressure on weak neighboring states, and slams
the West s criticism of his policies and actions. By annexing Crimea and supporting pro Russian
separatists in eastern Ukraine in 2014, Russia was able to justify its military patriotic
mobilization of society and the transformation of Russia into a besieged fortress (Motyl, 2016,
pg. 29). The annexation of Crimea made Russian citizens feel a wave of vicarious optimism.
Putin s bully attitude and aggression are supposed to manifest Russian ethnic and cultural
revitalization after decades of decline. Similar to Mussolini, Putin is building his regime on the
promises of greatness, the display of military force, and the campaign to make Russia great again.
Putin s actions and policies provide the Russian citizens with a sense of national pride, which has

Comparision of p self Protection Problem Algorithms for Static Wireless Sensor Networks Nikitha
Gullapalli
Graduate Student, Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering, University of South Florida
nikitha@mail.usf.edu Abstract Wireless sensor networks are being widely used in many
surveillance applications. Since sensor nodes are a critical part of sensor networks, certain level of
protection needs to be provided to them. The self protection problem focuses on using sensor
nodes to provide protection to themselves instead of the target objects or certain target area so that
the sensor nodes can resists the attacks targeting to them directly. In this paper we compare paper

KEY RESEARCH QUESTIONS
1.How to determine the minimum set of sensors for covering problems of sensor networks?
Efficient centralized and distributed algorithms with constant approximation ratio for the minimum
p self protection problem in sensor networks when all sensors have the same sensing radius.
2.Is finding minimum 1 self protection a NP complete?
Yes, it is proved that finding minimum 1 self protection is NP complete by reducing the minimum
set cover problem.
3.If MIS is selected to provide certain protection to nodes, what happens after some rounds when it
already has p protections?
Purpose of selecting MIS is to provide certain protections to nodes that are not selected into the
MIS. However, this may not be necessary after some rounds for some nodes when it already has p
protections from selected active nodes Thus, for each node u, we again use p(u) to denote the
protection level (i.e., the number of active sensors that can sense this node) that it already has
achieved via previously activated sensors from MIS s.
4.Is there a smarter way to select the nodes instead of randomly?
Instead of random selection of a sensor to cover each active sensor in MIS, we can use a smarter
method to select the nodes to protect the MIS nodes with less than p protectors in the last steps of
our algorithm.
5.As each sensor has limited power and resources, how to balance the energy consumption?
To balance the energy consumption, one simple method proposed in this paper is

The Pros And Cons Of Female Athletes
Intro
Female athletes should be able to compete against men because it s a competition, but it would
be hard for women. They would not complain about being hurt but some girls get hurt more then
boys. Girls can be stronger than boys but some girls are weak. People think female athletes
should be able to because they need to be able to experience what it is like to take a risk. logos

October Revolution
To what extent did the October Revolution bring change to Russia, and the rest of the world? Ideas
can bring change and those changes can be revolutions. Revolutions are a vital part of our world.
They bring change and develop our lives while having social, economic, political and cultural
changes. The October revolution, also known as the Great October Socialist Revolution, was a
revolution that took place in Russia around november 1917. This had a complete change towards
the government and many economic adjustments were made.
The Russian Revolution of 1917 is based on two other revolutions called February revolution and
October revolution. The October revolution, also known as the Bolsheviks revolution was the main
reason that turned Russia into the Soviet Union, becoming communist nation. The Bolsheviks,

the Soviet, as they were affected through the complete change of the government style. However,
the revolution did not cover the whole area of Russia. This aspect can have a downfall to this
revolution not being revolutionary. To what extent did the October Revolution bring change to
Russia? can be answered. The October revolution was a revolution to a high extent as it brought a
big and radical change through the whole of the country while affecting everyone in that region.

Perception of the Chinese People
Introduction
I Choose China because I am part Chinese and wanted to understand their culture a lot better. I
believe if I learn more about the Chinese culture I will be able to understand their communication
and tendencies better. Also to be honest I am just as guilty as anyone in not knowing the
differences between Japanese and Chinese culture, so on a side note I also hope to clear up a few
misunderstandings. At the very least you will know some information about the Chinese culture
solving part of the problem of the perception on Chinese people.
Mandarin is China s official language.
Chinese Communication patterns can be easily misunderstood by people sometimes leading to
conflict. The Chinese have a reputation for impassiveness. This is mainly because people of
different cultures misinterpret Chinese body language and gestures.
With 1.3 billion people, the world s second largest economy, and the fastest economic growth
among industrialized nations, China is an undisputed economic powerhouse, so it would not be a
bad idea to become more familiarized with their communication patterns in their business, education
, and healthcare.
Business
China is the world s second largest economy. Many U.S companies are multinational already, and
many more expect China to be a growing source of their revenue. Learning proper etiquette is a
must before conducting business in China.
When conducting business its never a good idea to be late but especially when meeting with Chinese

Narcotic Anonymous Meeting Reflection
The first meeting that I attended was a Narcotic Anonymous meeting. The meeting time was
7pm 8pm on September 13, 2016. The group was made up of 12 individuals, 4 females and 8
males. The overall feeling of the group illustrated positive energy. Each person gave the
perception that they truly wanted as well as needed to be there. I did observe that most of the
participants depicted a very high anxiety level based on their body language and the tone in their
voices. There were no new comers , which is the terminology used for a personwho is new to the
world of Narcotic Anonymous. The dynamics of the group, included persons who were in
recovery as well as persons whose addiction is still active. To set the tone of the meeting, I would

Each person said their first name. The chair of the meeting read the guidelines for the meeting.
Individuals were welcome to share their experience. The open topic for the first half of the
meetings focused on how Al Anon has helped the individual in their daily lives. One person shared
that they have implemented the Serenity Prayer and teaching from Al Anon into their work lives as
well as to relationships with family and friends. Another person shared that they have learned how
to set boundaries and adhere to them. Learning how to make sure that they held themselves
responsible if they allowed someone to cross the boundary. As with Narcotics Anonymous, Al Anon
also has a Twelve Step structure and several peoplecommented on the steps that they are currently
on and what the steps have meant to them. No problems or issues were discussed. Individuals
talked about how they are connecting with themselves, not trying to change or control the person
/persons in their lives who have the addiction. The comments made were ones of encouragement.
At several times in the meeting a sponsor sign in sheet was passed around. At a half way point in
the meeting, new comers were invited to go to another room to meet with a member to get
additional information and ask any questions that they may have. In the second half of the meeting,
the group was encouraged to share whatever they wanted to talk about. One person spoke about the
guilt they felt when they decided to end their marriage from the spouse with the addiction. How
their child at the time blamed them for the break up and how it took almost three years for that
adult child to even communicate with them. Others talked about being lost, and having feelings of
misery and hopelessness. They could not fix the person with the

Pornography Pros And Cons Essay
No Harm in Moderation: The Benefits of Pornography Pornography, sexual acts designed to draw
arousal from its audience recorded by some medium, is one of the largest industries in America
and on the Internet. Porn having such a prevalent position in society understandably evokes some
anxiety and questions about the harms of participating in the industry as a consumer. Using the
Epicurean belief of reasonable indulgence, I argue that these harms only come with
overindulgence and when used in moderation, pornography offers many personal benefits and
positive contributions to society. My argument will begin with a discussion of Epicureanism and
its beliefs of pleasure as the greatest good and of limiting desires. I will then follow this with
examples of personal and societal pleasures and advantages afforded by pornography when
consumed within reasonable limits. Epicureanism revolves around the pursuit of pleasure and
avoidance of mental and physical pain with pleasure being considered the greatest good and pain
the greatest evil (Stephens 45). Its principles focus upon the naturalness and necessity of desires,
some of which have natural limits; desires without natural limits are considered dangerous as they
can cause anxiety and frustration, however, Epicurus encourages indulging in these limitless desires
on occasion within reason and the law (46 52). If the indulgence is lawful, reasonable, and does not
disrupt society, then there is no ethical problem with anything done

The community has become more aware of this in recent years and have begun to initiate more of a

Reflection Of Psalm 121
I read this passage to Cindy a few times over the last 2 ВЅ years. It always seemed to bring her
peace as she processed her next step in this journey. Psalm 121 seems to speak of the tough times in
our lives and how we can still find peace. God does not live in some celestial tower, far away from
the world Godcreated. God cares for all the people and all of creation. God cares for us amidst all
the twists and turns of life s journey. It is that conviction which inspires Psalm 121, a Psalm I
read again to Cindy in the last week of her life. Psalm 121 is sometimes called „the traveler‟s
Psalm‟. It was a psalm sung by pilgrims as they made their annual journey to Jerusalem. It
expressed their faith in God, but also reflected the unease they felt about travel. I look to the
mountains; where will my help come from? (v.1). Mountains may be beautiful, but they can also
be dangerous. Mountains are places where people lose their lives. No, the hills are not the place
from which our help comes rather they are the place where help is needed. Here in this Psalm,
the hills or mountains represented the perils of the journey, for it was in the ravines and gorges of
the mountain ranges that wild beasts and robbers hid. As the pilgrims looked to the mountain
ranges they had to cross if they were to reach Jerusalem, they were filled with foreboding and
wondered from where their help would come. It is in this situation that the Psalmist declares: My
help will come from the Lord, the

Global Health Research Paper
The reasonable question posed is if the movement of people, food and manufactured goods has
such a bad impact on our health, should we take steps to reduce that movement? I don t believe
that is a realistic answer. With international travel on a far greater scale than imaginable a hundred
years ago, reducing that flow now would be near impossible.
International trade has been a demand for many decades. People will continue to trade. Instead,
focus should be on the health inspections of the items we are trading. Getting countries to
participate in an agreed upon standard of quality could help reduce the risks from the goods being
traded. Lowering the spread of global diseases has come to such a point that without fighting the
diseases with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One problem a policy like this will face is trying to globally enforce a standard of quality with
countries that are not cooperative. Refusing to receive shipments that do not pass that standard is
an option. Moreover, a better quality of life globally will help as well.
The global community can t expect products to have been properly grown without bad pesticides
and grown absorbing good water from countries that have a water quality issue. If the water issue
for these countries isn t fixed, then their products become contaminated. Helping the countries
come up to standards first could ease the process of them implementing and adhering to strict global
standards of quality in regards to their exports.
I am leery of GMOs. My worry isn t the typical worry. I am not worried that it isn t natural. Very
little in our lives is natural and the world goes on. To go natural would mean to give up
everything and sleep in a tree naked. I feel that genetically modifying certain plants to be more
resistant to pests, drought, and flooding is not only a neat scientific development, but almost a
necessity since we now see evidence of a global shift in climate change. Natural or sped up by
humans is irrelevant at this point. The climate is changing. Weather patterns are changing. We have
the Midwest as one of our major sources of food. If a major natural catastrophe occurred without us
having crops that can withstand the changes, many people would starve. In this aspect, I can see
the need for

Deafness is NOT a Disability I don t remember much about my first two years of school; matter
of fact the only thing I do remember is what my parents have told me. I do, however remember
sitting helpless, lost in my own world as I watched the others in the classroom scream with
excitement as they recited the ABC s and sang songs while sitting on a large rug. I giggled and
laughed along with them, somewhat mimicking them. I recall my teacher, many times, redirecting
my attention to the lesson. I wasn t a bit interested in anything outside playtime; or of course lunch.
First grade was no different. I was much less amused by reading and writing; which my teacher,
Mrs. Garcia felt was the most important in her class. I hated reading. I hated writing more. I would

She also bought index cards and started introducing sight words to our daily schedule. These were

  • 2. From The Late Eighteenth To The Mid Twentieth Century, From the late eighteenth to the mid twentieth century, European countries predominantly England and France oversaw the expansion and collapse of their empires, during which time they had come to understand their Eastern colonies through the lens of Orientalism. A term coined by the literary critic Edward Said in 1978, Orientalism refers to the project through which Western artists and intellectuals fabricated an image of the Orient an area stretching between India and the Bible Lands in order to legitimise their control over it. This project characterised the East as an inferior, post civilised realm, where order had been displaced by as Said writes an Oriental backwardness. However, by the end of the nineteenth... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Having grown out of the post war Dada movement, Surrealism emerged in the early 1920s, formed by a group of artists who aimed to challenge the bourgeois values that they saw as being responsible for World War I. As Archer Straw writes, It is through this departure from redundant aspects of Western culture that these avant garde figures became enamoured with Africa; however, it is apparent that this obsession raised many problems. One example of Man Ray s work that reveals an interest in negrophilia is his Portrait of Nancy Cunard, created in 1926 (Figure 1). In this photograph, Cunard a socialite and ardent negrophile is captured wearing thick ivory bangles , a leopard print dress, and dark kohl eye makeup, details which reveal a predilection for African forms. By adopting this appearance, Cunard becomes a pseudo exotic personality, expressing both her and Man Ray s desire to separate themselves from Europe through racial otherness . However, although they attempt to achieve this they appear unsuccessful in doing so, as this portrait merely suggests racial difference, a quality that figures like Cunard could exploit to further their reputation in the West. Moreover, while the avant garde praised such images for supposedly championing equality between black and white people, Archer Straw correctly identifies them as regressive, as they perpetuate the myth that black culture can be understood ... As after the Korea government offer the visa free access the Jeju Island for chinese tourists, it brings some issues for Jeju. The massive Chinese tourists bring some benefit on Jeju economy, but soon there arise some issues, such as crowded transport, depletion resource and local resident s unsatisfied. The Jing Daily (2015) has posted an article Tension Mounts as Chinese Tourists overtake Jeju Island . In this article, it mentioned the issues arise by the mass Chinese tourists, related to economic, social and local cultural. The Chinese travelers have become the most profitable tourists in the world and some countries start to change their tourism regulation and policies to Chinese, such as Emirate allowed the extra baggage for Chinese tourists to shop (Ryan 2014). The South Korean government found the way to increase their tourism industry and grow their economy. They offer the visa free access to Jeju Island for Chinese tourists which has an obvious benefit after this policy start. The Jeju provincial government director Kim Nam sun said that the increasing Chinese tourists help them raise tax revenue and built a world resort destination brand for Jeju (Nam 2015). However, as more Chinese tourists visit Jeju and more investment in Jeju, this lead to some Jeju residents worried about their local environment. As new casinos, hotels, ... Comparative Analysis Of The Ghost In Two Hamlet Movies Essay Comparative Analysis Of The Ghost In Two Hamlet Movies The play Hamlet, Prince of Denmark , by William Shakespeare being of such a complicated variety of themes, contains many different story lines as well as being very extensive in nature makes it quite a challenge to be produced and acted. On paper, the reader can translate things, as they like. Since Shakespeare is not around to tell us the meaning of every theme or the truth about every nook and cranny about his works. It is up to the reader to decide what the importance of everything is. Thus when a producer decides to create a film based on Hamlet it is most certain that his creation will vary from any others. Each will create their own version of the story, stressing some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Ghost, the eyes are terrifying evidence of his supernatural ordeals; on a live character, they look artificial and take away from the ghost s individuality as a supernatural being.) When we hear the ghost speak it is clear that this Ghost is angry. It is also clear that he is a supernatural being and wants things to get done. But what disturbs me is that there is very little, if any emotion being displayed here. The most immediate response is that I could not get a sense that the two Hamlets truly cared for one another. Consequently, Hamlet s revenge comes across as politically motivated more than anything else. We begin to question if the Ghost is an evil one or this spirit is sincere. Brannagh seemed to stress the political aspects of this more than the love and the honor of the family. I didn t get the sense that there was any emotions displayed between these two characters. This brings me to question the motive and origin of the Ghost. This would also justify the way that Hamlet delayed taking any course of action whatsoever and stalled to do anything at all, seemingly incapacitated. Everything is now questionable. Is the Ghost an evil spirit? Are its motives political? Why was there no emotion displayed by either one of them? In Zeffirelli s version of Hamlet the second appearance of the Ghost was the complete opposite of Branagh s. We are presented with a touching presentation of the Ghost. There is no horror ... This phenomenon originated in 2010 when Fiona Broome, an author, researcher, and paranormal consultant, explained online that she thought Nelson Mandela had died while he was in prison. To her surprise many other people had the same exact memory as her. Some people even remember learning about his death in school. Other famous examples of the Mandela Effect are the misremembering of famous lines from movies, the spelling of Bernstein bears and Looney Tunes, and whether Curious George has a tail. Euripides emphasizes these four women to help us understand one of his main themes. Hecubawith her pride, Cassandra with her virginity and uncanny wisdom, Andromachewith her misery and heartache, and Helen with her powerful, seductive reasoning all represent superior illustrations of feminism throughout the play. Until she begins to tell her mother how she will try to take revenge for her family does she show pain by saying, I shall kill [Agamemnon] mother, lay his house as low as he laid ours, make him pay for all he made my father suffer, brothers . . . (I, i, 367 369). Raving, she prophecies, If Apollo lives, my marriage will be bloodier than Helen s, and in time we see that she is right with the fall of Greece (I, i, 364 365). She also makes an interesting point on the defeat of Troy. She explains that the Greeks are just there to fight and conquer, and that their families are not there to soften their hearts. The Trojans fight as a family for their people. The Trojans have lost, but they died with great honor trying to save and protect their country and kinsmen. • 11. Technology And Its Impact On The Medical Field In the world we live in today technology is always advancing; having many great effects in our personal lives and in the medical field, one of which being the technical advances on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). MRIs have been a great resource for us to use to help diagnose people in a way we have never been able to before. A magnetic resonance imaging scan uses a large magnet, radio waves, and a computer to create a detailed cross sectional image of the patient s internal organs and structures, (Lam). Being able to examine patients in a noninvasive way and take pictures of what their organs look like is a huge medical advance proving to us that we can help diagnose more people in a less harmful way and are able to treat them faster and give them a better prognosis. But we cannot forget what came before the MRI, which was nuclear resonance imaging (NMR). NMR is the key piece to magnetic resonance imaging and if it weren t for the discovery of NMR and it s many uses we wouldn t have MRI scanners. The evolution of MRIs has left a profound impact on the scientific community, particularly in the field of medicine. Before bringing up the topic of MRI scanners it would be useful to have some background information on the science behind it all. • 15. The Bible And Divine Communication In The Bible Divine communication: the contact between a higher power and a mortal. This is a constant theme in many works of literature throughout the ages. Divine communication comes in many forms such as oracles, prophets and direct communication with God. In the Bible, mortals often have direct contact with God, who is seen as a father figure. In contrast, divine communication in Oedipus the Kingcomes in the form of oracles and prophets, which are seen as an abstract entity. While both God and the Oracles have the same intent of guiding and advising those involved, individuals were more apt to listen to divine communication in the Biblebecause it derived from a fatherly figure while individuals tended to reject divine intervention in Oedipus the King because it came from an abstract source. The Bible, which is the most sacred text in the Christian religion, has many occurrences of individuals communicating with God. In each example of contact, divine communication seeks to help individuals worship God. In the very beginning of Genesis, the creation of life. In the second creation story God says to Eve you shall not eat of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die (Genesis 3:3). This means that the more attention the Hunger Artist received, the more difficult it was for society to understand the meaning behind his actions. Although the restaurant industry is perceived to have high risk of failure, the risk of a restaurant failing is not too different from other small businesses. Parsa et al. quantified the risk of failure at 26% in the first year and 57% by year 3. He also described several factors that can influence the risk of failure. Those include physical location, firm size, speed of growth, differentiation from other restaurants in the market, adapting to external trends, and management experience. In terms of location and differentiation, Paul s bar will be located in a new development designed to attract affluent customers and with very few competitors. Paul s small firm size increases risk because of barriers to attract partners (i.e. suppliers and bankers are prejudiced against smaller firms) and growth that may be too rapid to manage. On the other hand, Robert already has experience in the restaurant business and should know how to run the bar and subsequent restaurant. Their choice of a piano bar may be in response to local trends that favor success. A final question is whether Paul should apply his student loan money to the startup costs. • 27. Merchant Shipping Activities Remain The Pillar Of Global... 1. Introduction According to the OECD (2012) merchant shipping activities remain the pillar of global trade, with more than 80% of international cargo transported via sea. Throughout history, maritime activities have played a vital role in shaping the world, from fishing, to the transport of people during the age of discovery, as well as global trade. With world trade growth being the core driving force behind maritime trade, other factors include; institutional and technological factors, freedom of trade, as well as China s participation in the global economy (World Ocean Review n.d.). As shipping is a derived demand, developments in maritime transport are thus shaped by global macroeconomic trends. The biggest problem in shipping is the ability to forecast long term freight rates, and current tools such as generalized autoagressive conditional heteroskedasticity (GARCH) are often aimed at short term correlation. GARCH is an approach which helps describe market volatility (Investopedia n.d.). Freight rates essentially drive the shipping industry in terms of fleet size, and are often a good indication of the strength or weakness of the shipping market. The volatile state of the current market means the accurate need for forecasting and keeping up to date with trends is imperative. Sports affects how I talk by effecting my mood based on my teams performances whether it is good or bad. For instance, when the Philadelphia Eagleslose my mood is atrocious and I speak negatively with little hope in my voice. However, when they win I use much more positive words through the week and I become upbeat. Often people know if the Eagles won their game based on how I act and speak. • 38. Fascism In Russia After World War One, many people yearned to return to normalcy; however, those desires were rendered by the carnage and destruction caused by the war. In the twentieth century, fascism was a response to many complicated social challenges and to the spread of Western liberal democracy. For the growing fascist movements, the period after the First World War was seen as a time to bring change to the nature of society, state, and international policies and laws. The rise of fascism in Europe started in the early 1900 s due to cultural pessimism, the tragic consequences caused by the war, and the incapability of liberal democratic regimes to cope with the war s consequences. After the Second World War, people can argue that fascism has long disappeared ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The current global economic and political climate has promoted the question of whether fascism is on the rise again. Vladimir Putin is one of the few current world leaders who has shown fascist tendencies. Putin s Russia has many elements that are reminiscent of the early 1900 s fascism. There are many similarities between Putin s Russia and the fundamental principles of classical fascism. Putin asserts Russian power by putting pressure on weak neighboring states, and slams the West s criticism of his policies and actions. By annexing Crimea and supporting pro Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine in 2014, Russia was able to justify its military patriotic mobilization of society and the transformation of Russia into a besieged fortress (Motyl, 2016, pg. 29). The annexation of Crimea made Russian citizens feel a wave of vicarious optimism. Putin s bully attitude and aggression are supposed to manifest Russian ethnic and cultural revitalization after decades of decline. Similar to Mussolini, Putin is building his regime on the promises of greatness, the display of military force, and the campaign to make Russia great again. Putin s actions and policies provide the Russian citizens with a sense of national pride, which has been lacking since the post Soviet era. He continues to pursue strategies and policies that restore Russian pride while consolidating power and influence in Russia. Putin lacks of interest in engaging with Western politics has also contributed to the rise of his popularity at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Comparision of p self Protection Problem Algorithms for Static Wireless Sensor Networks Nikitha Gullapalli Graduate Student, Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering, University of South Florida nikitha@mail.usf.edu Abstract Wireless sensor networks are being widely used in many surveillance applications. Since sensor nodes are a critical part of sensor networks, certain level of protection needs to be provided to them. The self protection problem focuses on using sensor nodes to provide protection to themselves instead of the target objects or certain target area so that the sensor nodes can resists the attacks targeting to them directly. KEY RESEARCH QUESTIONS 1.How to determine the minimum set of sensors for covering problems of sensor networks? Efficient centralized and distributed algorithms with constant approximation ratio for the minimum p self protection problem in sensor networks when all sensors have the same sensing radius. 2.Is finding minimum 1 self protection a NP complete? Yes, it is proved that finding minimum 1 self protection is NP complete by reducing the minimum set cover problem. 3.If MIS is selected to provide certain protection to nodes, what happens after some rounds when it already has p protections? Purpose of selecting MIS is to provide certain protections to nodes that are not selected into the MIS. However, this may not be necessary after some rounds for some nodes when it already has p protections from selected active nodes Thus, for each node u, we again use p(u) to denote the protection level (i.e., the number of active sensors that can sense this node) that it already has achieved via previously activated sensors from MIS s. 4.Is there a smarter way to select the nodes instead of randomly? Instead of random selection of a sensor to cover each active sensor in MIS, we can use a smarter method to select the nodes to protect the MIS nodes with less than p protectors in the last steps of our algorithm. 5.As each sensor has limited power and resources, how to balance the energy consumption? To balance the energy consumption, one simple method proposed in this paper is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I believe if I learn more about the Chinese culture I will be able to understand their communication and tendencies better. Also to be honest I am just as guilty as anyone in not knowing the differences between Japanese and Chinese culture, so on a side note I also hope to clear up a few misunderstandings. At the very least you will know some information about the Chinese culture solving part of the problem of the perception on Chinese people. Mandarin is China s official language. Chinese Communication patterns can be easily misunderstood by people sometimes leading to conflict. The Chinese have a reputation for impassiveness. This is mainly because people of different cultures misinterpret Chinese body language and gestures. With 1.3 billion people, the world s second largest economy, and the fastest economic growth among industrialized nations, China is an undisputed economic powerhouse, so it would not be a bad idea to become more familiarized with their communication patterns in their business, education , and healthcare. • 47. Pornography Pros And Cons Essay No Harm in Moderation: The Benefits of Pornography Pornography, sexual acts designed to draw arousal from its audience recorded by some medium, is one of the largest industries in America and on the Internet. Porn having such a prevalent position in society understandably evokes some anxiety and questions about the harms of participating in the industry as a consumer. Using the Epicurean belief of reasonable indulgence, I argue that these harms only come with overindulgence and when used in moderation, pornography offers many personal benefits and positive contributions to society. My argument will begin with a discussion of Epicureanism and its beliefs of pleasure as the greatest good and of limiting desires. I will then follow this with examples of personal and societal pleasures and advantages afforded by pornography when consumed within reasonable limits. Epicureanism revolves around the pursuit of pleasure and avoidance of mental and physical pain with pleasure being considered the greatest good and pain the greatest evil (Stephens 45). Its principles focus upon the naturalness and necessity of desires, some of which have natural limits; desires without natural limits are considered dangerous as they can cause anxiety and frustration, however, Epicurus encourages indulging in these limitless desires on occasion within reason and the law (46 52). If the indulgence is lawful, reasonable, and does not disrupt society, then there is no ethical problem with anything done ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 50. Reflection Of Psalm 121 I read this passage to Cindy a few times over the last 2 ВЅ years. It always seemed to bring her peace as she processed her next step in this journey. Psalm 121 seems to speak of the tough times in our lives and how we can still find peace. God does not live in some celestial tower, far away from the world Godcreated. God cares for all the people and all of creation. God cares for us amidst all the twists and turns of life s journey. It is that conviction which inspires Psalm 121, a Psalm I read again to Cindy in the last week of her life. Psalm 121 is sometimes called „the traveler‟s Psalm‟. It was a psalm sung by pilgrims as they made their annual journey to Jerusalem. It expressed their faith in God, but also reflected the unease they felt about travel. I look to the mountains; where will my help come from? (v.1). Mountains may be beautiful, but they can also be dangerous. Mountains are places where people lose their lives. No, the hills are not the place from which our help comes rather they are the place where help is needed. Here in this Psalm, the hills or mountains represented the perils of the journey, for it was in the ravines and gorges of the mountain ranges that wild beasts and robbers hid. As the pilgrims looked to the mountain ranges they had to cross if they were to reach Jerusalem, they were filled with foreboding and wondered from where their help would come. I don t believe that is a realistic answer. With international travel on a far greater scale than imaginable a hundred years ago, reducing that flow now would be near impossible. International trade has been a demand for many decades. People will continue to trade. Instead, focus should be on the health inspections of the items we are trading. Natural or sped up by humans is irrelevant at this point. The climate is changing. Weather patterns are changing. We have the Midwest as one of our major sources of food.
