Gracile Features
Introduction
The more gracile features that denote a female typically include the smaller size or often nonexistence
of certain features found on the skeleton including but not limited to the nuchal crest, mastoid process,
and brow ridges. Also, the average height of a female is shorter than that of the average male. Due to
this difference in skeletal structure, most of the bones in the female skeleton should in some form be
sexually dimorphic. The trend of smaller features is of course excluding the pelvic girdle, on which
most female features are larger and rounder due to the skeletal requirements of childbirth. Given the
above statement, it is reasonable to predict that there would be a distinguishable difference between
the metacarpal of a male and a female. Studies have proved that metacarpals are sexually dimorphic,
and can be used to identify the sex of a skeleton in both Egyptian and Tai populations. Due to these
past studies, it is logical to assume that the same sexually dimorphism can be found in the European
population. If successful this study could develop an algorism to help determine the sex from just a
single bone. This advancement in our knowledge of sex identification could propel cases, in which the
sex of the induvial was undeterminable from the bones recovered.

adequate data to the size of the hand, and joint sizes. Using the data collected from the metacarpals a
formula should prove that White Females have distinctly smaller measurement than that of White
Males. The difference in measurement is due to the more gracile features of females who need less
robust metacarpals because less space for muscle attachment is

Goals And Characteristics Of A Crime Investigation
examples of such detectives are Sherlock Holmes with his assistant Dr Watson and our own Indian
private investigator Pradosh Chandra Mitter or simply Feluda with his assistant cousin Topshe. There
is no case on earth for them which is unsolvable and they are never defeated except Sherlock Holmes
who was defeated by a lady in the story The Scandal of Bohemia . They are very well aware and are
thorough of their approach and their cases involve little or no violence at all. Thus these fictional
detectives stand out in achieving their goals and objectives.
FUNCTIONS AND CHARACHTERSTICS OF A CRIME INVESTIGATOR
A crime investigation can be considered more effective and complete if the investigator is experienced
and has suitable knowledge of science and techniques and has a thorough understanding of his
profession. As stated earlier, each crime is unique in itself ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As these investigations involve adventure, thrill, suspense etc. many writers took this topic and began
writing a new genre called the crime fiction. The stories of crime fiction include real life cases, murder
thrillers, clue puzzle stories etc. The first work of this genre was Moll Flanders which was a novel by
Daniel Defoe which was published in 1722. The stories caught up with the readers as it gave them a
chance to use their own brain and imagination hereby involving themselves completely with the
stories. This genre grew popular and in the later years many writers began writing detective and crime
stories. Prominent writers of this genre were Emilie Gaboriau, Gaston Leroux, Maurice Leblanc etc.

the most famous and ideal detective Sherlock Holmes who serves as an idol for budding detectives, is

No Parent Child Relationship With Second Temple...
Six out of nineteen texts held topoi providing a possible parent child relationship with Second Temple
apocalyptic work. Further consideration reduced the number to three. Of the texts that remain, The
Ascent of Enmeduranki, the Divine Nomination of Thutmose II, and Plato s Republic (614b), ranked
the strongest. These three sources follow here, respectively.
The Ascent of Enmeduranki
Although no parent child relationship occurred in this text, scholars often posit it as source material
for 1 Enoch; perhaps, a relationship exists through the lens of divinely ordained journeys:
Enmeduranki [king of Sippar], the beloved of Anu, Enlil [and Ea]. Šamaš and Adad [brought him in]

24:1 38:3, and 67 as the final ascension seen in Gen. 5:24). Alongside these similarities, however, are
general distinctions as noted under Topos of Secrecy, and specific distinctions concerning divinely
ordained Journeys.
Enmeduranki s journey authority derives from his presence among deity. By comparison, Enoch s
author wove together multiple authorities: divine presence begins a journey, but includes authority
from cosmology, secrecy, and righteousness. Furthermore, using 1 Enoch 14:8 as an example, the
author provides both setting and method in which Enoch ascends; yet, a close reading shows no
description of the anabasis in Enmeduranki text. These descriptions, however, are present in the
Divine Nomination of Thutmose III.
The Divine Nomination of Thutmose III
The Divine Nomination of Thutmose III concerns his legitimacy as ruler, providing a picture of the
Egyptian enthronement rites:
[He opened for] me the doors of heaven; he spread open for me the portals of its horizon. I flew up to
the sky as a divine falcon, that I might see his mysterious form which is in heaven, that I might adore
his majesty. (10) ... I saw the forms of being of the Horizon God on his mysterious ways in heaven. Re

The Determinants Of Women Participation
5.4 Determinants of Women Participation in SACCOs.
Women s equal participation in cooperatives is both a women s right and important for sustainable and
people centered development. If cooperatives are gender responsive and inclusive, they can help
women to overcome gender specific constraints to improve their self confidence, knowledge,
leadership skills, income, and access to agricultural inputs, social networks, and position in value
chains. When women are more economically and socially empowered, evidence shows that there are
direct and positive impact on women s household and community decision making power and on
access to and control over productive assets. These changes lead to improved household nutrition,
food and income security, broader development outcomes, and a more integrated production of both
food and cash crops (Qui sumbing, 2003; FAO, 2011; CSA and ICF International, 2012).
The success of cooperative is strongly related to the target group and member participation (Tips,
1986; Yu, 2009). Member s commitment to working together and the sense of trust and mutual respect
between the managers and members are also important factors (Fulton, 2004). Despite the availability
of cooperative societies and efforts of government at all levels, a significant proportion of rural
women are either unaware of the existence of such co operatives or lacking the basic socio economic
characteristics that form the prerequisite for participation in such activities (Idrisa et

I Am A Master Of My Own Destiny, By The United States Of...
In the United States of America, there are over 300 million people. Each one of these people have
heard messages that tell them that they are in control. Whether it s their own lives or those around
them; Americans are bred with the idea that complete control is possible. This idea is not a new
concept for Americans. In fact, Americans have had overinflated ideas about control since we decided
that it was necessary for us to control the rest of the nation via Manifest Destiny. The reason that I
choose to focus on Americanized control as my final narrative is because it is something that I ve
grown familiar with in my life. It s always the same kinds of people buying into it and being lead
astray to the troubles that come with having such a strong desire for control. In fact, I was once a
believer in that ideology. I once thought that I was the master of my own destiny, but I was wrong. As
I got older and time went on, every single thing that I m writing now is everything that I ve seen in
others. In other words, knowing that a person has no control over their life is something that I
understand intensely. I understand it so well that I can breakdown some aspects of the type of control
that affect Americans like me. These characteristics of control are: the punishment of those who
seemingly lack control, that planning is a placebo and therefore does nothing, and working hard
amounts to nothing.
Control is sold to people on the idea that it s achievable by all and only

Causes Of Unemployment In The Great Depression
Throughout history both political parties have struggled with many obstacles in governmental policy.
One policy issue that has been apart of both political platforms for years is unemployment. The
unemployment of the American citizen has been high since the beginning of the Great Depression.
Because of high unemployment rates, the American economy has been spiraling into debt now
reaching seven trillion dollars. This has led both political parties to take aim at one another, blaming
the opposition for the social and economical distress. The problem of wide spread unemployment is
prominent in political platforms throughout the years.
After the stock markets crashed in 1929, the United States was faced with an economical battle it had
never seen before. Unemployment was at an all time high because banks were closing and the
American dollar was seemingly meaningless. This brought on mass hysteria and caused chaos
throughout the American population. The American public started looking to the leaders of this
country for answers. They couldn t find jobs, and what jobs they did find were paying them almost
nothing. The public wanted this problem fixed. During the 1932 election, both the democratic and
republican parties addressed the high unemployment brought on by the depression. The Democratic
nominee, Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR), was convinced that this problem was the fault of the former
president and Republican nominee, for the 1932 election, Herbert Hoover. In his parties

Space Exploration Economic Lens
On July 21, 1969, the United States rocket Apollo 11 landed on the moon, marking a monumental and
unprecedented feat of mankind. Culminated as the product of breakthrough innovations in engineering
and physics and overwhelming government support (which granted NASA over 4% of the federal
budget), the moon landing was the crowning moment of NASA s accomplishments. At that time, a
new era of space exploration seemed to be on the verge of occurrence. However, fifty years later,
NASA has seemed to have fallen from its old glory, with the United States Federal government
spending only 0.5% of the nation s federal budget on its space endeavors. With increased concerns of

Citing cases such as SpaceX, which built a rocket named the dragon 320x cheaper than NASA s
spaceship the Orion, many opponents to governmental space exploration heavily recommend NASA
to privatize many of its sectors. However, contrary to popular belief, NASA is not an entirely
government run corporation and in essence has already inherently privatized almost all of its sectors
which should be privatized to cut down costs. For instance, NASAAdministrator Chris Scolese told a
congressional subcommittee back in 2009 that the agency will give $150 million in stimulus package
money to private companies that design, build and service their own rockets. Furthermore, NASA has
picked three private companies to act as its International Space Station delivery service through the
next eight years. The contractors of SpaceX, Orbital ATK, and Sierra Nevada Corporation will
transport supplies up to the International Space Station and back to NASA starting in late 2019. Most
importantly, President Obama announced in his Space Plan that his goal was to restructure NASA to
focus on space research and development while reassigning the other tasks of NASA to private
corporations. Thus, the claim that NASA needs to privatize falls hollow because NASA is already
privatizing the sectors which should be privatized. The majority of sectors that NASA funds in the
status quo lies in

Nicu Case Studies
INTRODUCTION It is common consensus that the levels of light and noise in a Neonatal Intensive
Care Unit (NICU) ward has always been and presently unacceptable, although historically there has
been ongoing debate about the exact level and type of impact this environment has on preterm infants
in terms of their sleep patterns and neuropsychological development. There has been some support by
substantial research that has previously found stimulation in the NICU has a detrimental effect on the
development, growth and quality of sleep of infants. Long term implications have also been found to
have a negative effect on the motor and neurological functioning of preterm infants. However, other
studies argue that they had found no significant effects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is important to provide premature babies with the many undisturbed rest hours they require for their
development, health and well being. The investigation was done by three different principal designers
and a team in three stages, understanding the problem (vision building), verifying (specifying) by
conducting a feasibility study, and project management (preparation for strict development). Despite
the positive results of many academic and company studies, several physicians reported in personal
communication that the actual sound levels at the ward has only changed marginally (if at all) over the
years. Sound levels at the NICU are problematic for the neonate infants, because noise is a direct
cause of long lasting auditory problems and a significant cause of neurologic impairment,
cardiovascular and respiratory problems. There were new technology measures proposed to minimise
or overcome these problems, including a central system connecting all medical equipment, centrally
controlled sound generating units with redesigned sounds and user interfaces. Despite only having
found two studies on the variable of movement, both researchers agreed that movement
(tactile/kinaesthetic stimulation) had positive effects on a range of developmental outcomes of preterm
infants. Only two studies suggested new solutions for this ongoing problem, but yet again none of
these have been tried, tested or proven in real cases. The fact that there are barely any studies done on
the variable of constant movement makes problems in this field of research even more challenging to
solve, hence the need for further interest and research on the specific variables of constant movement,
light and noise if we are going to provide and create a

World War II. It was during this time that physicians first began to establish the link between disease
and a person s psyche. This was the first time that there was scientific evidence that psychological
stress could contribute to many illnesses such as hypertension, ulcers, and heart attacks. During the
time after WWII, the scientific community first began to study the psychological effects that the war
had on returning soldiers. Despite the fact that over a million soldiers were screened out due to
psychological issues, there continued to be a staggering number of psychiatric casualties. Because of
this, psychiatrists were confronted with the realization that psychological weakness had little to do
with subsequent distress after combat. Because of this, the term combat neurosis was changed to battle
fatigue or combat exhaustion ( History of PTSD , n.d.). Era III goes a step beyond and proposes that
our mind cannot only affect our well being, but can affect the well being of another person, even from
a distance. In short, Era II shows the importance of an individual s mind on their own body, Era III

Replacing Desktop PCs and Cathode Ray Tube Monitors: Over the last decade companies have shifted

Intel s studies have shown that raising employees awareness of how much power their equipment is
consuming, and getting them involved in reducing that amount, is critical to success in reducing
energy use in the office environment. We have taken an example of the Intel Company: Intel
conducted a small PoC that explored how they could encourage behavior modification by showing
employees that small things, such as using standby mode on their laptops or turning off a printer when
it s not being used, can add up to big savings. During this PoC, they first established a baseline of
energy consumption through real time metering of energy use in 12 cubicles. In one group, they
focused solely on awareness and education. Every two to three days, Intel provided this group with
information on how much energy they were using, and how much it cost. They did not provide any
other information or requests to change behavior to the members of this group. For the second group
they installed a third party software agent that deployed and enforced power management profiles.
The profiles were set up to put the monitor into standby after ten minutes of idle time, and to put the
PC into standby after 30 minutes of idle time. After two additional weeks of real time metering, Intel
examined the energy use of the two groups.

The Problem Of Evil In Richard Swinburne s Natural Evil
In Richard Swinburne s Natural Evil, he argues that the free will defense accounts for the existence of
evil. Following Swinburne s example, I will argue that the Problem of Evil does not give us good
reason to believe that an omnipotent, benevolent deity does not exist. To do so, I will first summarize
Epicurus original question of the problem of evil. Then, I will defend my claim by proposing the free
will defense. Furthermore, I will discuss how the concepts of benevolence and omnipotence are
inconsistent with the definition of God according to the free will defense. Lastly, I will address and
respond to a possible objection to my argument. In David Hume s Dialogues Concerning Natural
Religion, he claims that Epicurus s old question is yet unanswered. (Cahn, end of page 958) The
question he refers to are the following: Is he willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is impotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Whence then is evil?
(Cahn, end of page 958, beginning of page 959) The he specifies God. Thus, the question can be
translated to the following: God is good if he wants to prevent evil. If God does not want to prevent
evil, he is bad. If God can prevent evil, he is all powerful. If God cannot prevent evil, he is not all
powerful. Therefore, if God is both good and all powerful, then evil should not exist. Furthermore, it
concludes that because evil exists in the world, God is not both omnipotent and

The Veldt, By George And Lydia Hadley
In The Veldt, George and Lydia Hadley are the parents of Wendy and Peter Hadley, and they live in a
technologically driven house that will do everything for its inhabitants transport them upstairs, brushes
their teeth, cook their food, and clean the house. The story begins when Lydia asks George if he s

glass walls have the ability to project the landscape and environment of any place that the mind of the
visitor wishes. During this particular visit, George and Lydia are surrounded by the African
countryside. In the distance, lions are licking the bones of their prey clean. The images are so
startlingly life like that when the holographic lions begin to charge, George and Lydia run for the door
to escape. Outside of the nursery, Lydia comments that she heard screams coming from the room
earlier in the day, but George tries to ease her worries. He wants to believe that the children are
psychologically healthy, not that they are fixated on blood and violence. After all, one of the selling
points of the room was that the children would be able to use the room as an outlet for their emotions,
and the places that the room visited would provide information for the adults who were curious about
the young minds. Lydia senses that something dark is brooding in her children s brain. As they sit

Persuasive Essay On Factory Farms
Also, factory farms should be prohibited because they treated animal very inhumane. According to the
research, the average number of animal in a factory farm is about 80,000, but this number include all
the big animal, such as cows and pigs. If we focus on the chicken factory farms, we will find out that
number of chickens in the factory farms are a lot more than 80,000. The living spaces for chicken in
the factory farms are very small, and most of the chicken can t even turn around or lie down

Sustainability And Corporate Social Responsibility
Sustainability and corporate social responsibility indicate the desire of an organization as a responsible
citizen to give back to the society through initiatives that seek to better the lives of the people and
generally, leaving the world a better place to live. As a global leader in the coffee restaurant business,
the size of Starbucks and its activities mean that it wields a lot of power in its areas of operation and
its activities can affect societies directly and indirectly. The company s mission, vision, and objectives

Starbucks sustainability and corporate social responsibility is focused on three key areas, which
include community, ethical sourcing and the environment. At the community level, the company
understands that its activities have the capacity to influence positively or negatively on the lives of the
communities where it has its activities, whether at the retail level, or at the raw material production
level of farmers. At the community level, the company strives to ensure better lives for the people

Ways To Properly Form Feminist Theory
The Methods to the Madness: Ways to Properly Form Feminist Theories Feminist research centralizes
around a search for gendered justice. As a rejection of standard masculine methodological models,
with their assumed objectivity and detachment, feminist approaches have been designed to recognize
the subjects of research as well as the place of the researcher in the production of knowledge. In order
to best account for gendered justice across a multitude of intersectional women, feminists require
methodologies to ensure proper knowledge creation, data collection, and critical analysis to ensure the
resulting methods are wide reaching. Many feminist writers have thought about the best way to

She begins her work Justice and the Politics of Difference, through examining the constraints within
the definition of injustice: oppression and domination. Her goal is to place these words, particularly
oppression, within the discourse of the social structures in America. No two groups suffer in the same
ways, yet they share a commonality in their inability to exercise their needs and meet their capabilities
or their oppression (40). Young presses that this oppression must be viewed in a way that analyzes the
condition of human practices and their conscious actions. Young continues by defining social groups,
aggregate, and associations. Social groups are collectives of persons differentiated from other groups
by cultural forms, practices, or ways of life. Aggregates are classification of people according to
attributes, and associates are formally organized institutions (43 44). Groups through these only exist
in relation to other groups. These groups arise from a common oppression or their identity has to be
pointed out by outside groups. Young then provides her particular methodology for defining a group as
oppressed. These criteria are exploitation, marginalization, powerlessness, cultural imperialism, and
violence. She says that only one of these criteria must be met in order for a group to be considered
oppressed. This oppression criteria must be utilized on the basis of comparison for groups, yet avoids
a hierarchy of oppression through saying that all groups are suffering and are united in their mutual
oppression. She moves intersectionally to show the basis of comparison for these groups and their
overlapping struggles. This method is another example of the way that a feminist theorist can classify
levels of suffering for marginalized

Descriptive Essay About Disney World
On Monday Joy and her family arrived in Orlando, Florida, but they were not staying on the Disney
resort, but instead, they choose to stay at the Kissimmee Koa campground. While they all impatiently
waited to arrive at Disney World the next morning. The night before, Joy and all of her siblings
decided swimming and playing on the play grounds was the way to occupy their time.
Tuesday morning the family woke up at 8:00 a.m. and ate a quick breakfast prior to beginning their
short journey to the Disney World theme park. All of the children, including Joy were extremely
excited to arrive at Disney World because it would be their first time. They left the campground at
about 9:00 a.m. and arrived at Disney World at approximately 9:45 a.m. When the family arrived at
the theme park, it took them nearly 20 minutes to locate a parking space and enter the park. During the
entire drive to Disney World Joy thought it was all just a dream. But, upon arriving to the actual theme
park of Disney World, Joy realized her dream was really a reality and she shed tears of excitement.
Disney World is a magic kingdom full of people, buildings, song and dance, food like homemade
fudge, horse drawn street cars and horseless carriages, statues and Disney characters. Joys family
adventure began by entering through a tunnel just below a train station before they landed right in
front of cinderella s castle. Since the experience was nothing like what joy had even been through
before, she stood amazed as she viewed the castle she dreamed about living in, much like every other
girl. Six paths lead from several different angle around the castle spreading throughout the theme park.
One of the first attractions within Disney world that Joy and her family stopped at was the Swiss
Family Treehouse. The Swiss Family Treehouse was based on a 1960 s movie, Swiss Family
Robinson . The attraction is a large treehouse accessible for children and adults to climb and maneuver
through, but it is also the makeshift home of a shipwrecked family as portrayed in the movie. As Joy
entered the enormous treehouse she was lead to a narrow staircase that was the pathway to the dining
room, kitchen, and two bedrooms. The treehouse left Joy and her siblings

European American Exploration
European Exploration The fifteenth and sixteenth centuries were a period of exploration and
expansion for the powerful european monarchies, this change and the reasons for it affected european
and american society s. A nation had to be well established and strong before it could explore and
expand outward, this means that the europeans had to make changes themselves. Many christian
european orders wanted to spread the christian religion to the native americans of the new world and
also made some money from the towns they established. The Europeans were also in search of
resources and a way to make their native currencies, many times the native americans were affected in
the process. European nations had to be established and strong before they could partake in

The Roaring Twenties And The Jazz Age
The Roaring Twenties
Daily Life
The 1920s were called the Roaring Twenties or the Jazz Age in North America, the Golden Age
Twenties in Europe and Années folles by French speakers all because this era was a period of
sustained economic prosperity with emphasis in each name of the era s social, artistic and cultural
change.
A time when there was a revolution in almost every part of daily human life where more and more
people were moving from the countryside to the city in search of wealth and in order to raise their
standard of living.
While many countries enjoyed this economic prosperity, the United States was the one that prospered
the most.

Many more women were also entering the workforce.
During the early 1920s, there was a peak in the membership of the Ku Klux Klan of four to five
million members, meaning that ideas of white supremacy were also at a high.
The Immigration Act of 1924 restricted immigration and many nationalities were restricted or even
banned.
Fashion
The 1920s was when women, especially younger women, first abandoned the more restricting
fashions from prior years and began to wear more comfortable clothes such as short skirts or trousers
that utilized the abundance of cotton and wool and new fastening methods such as buttons or zippers.
Woman also had more functional clothing and some styles were referred to as being a more masculine
figure because of flattened breasts and hips within clothing and short hairstyles to fit under popular
hats such as the close fitting cloche hat.
Men also changed from highly formal clothes and even began to wear athletic clothing for the first
time.
Throughout the Roaring Twenties men wore short suit jackets, high waisted jackets often worn with
belts and short jackets with two or three buttons and more loose athletic wear such as sweaters and
short trousers or knickers.
The older, more formal long jackets were only used for formal occasions and the most formal men s
suit was black or midnight blue worsted (high quality yarn) swallow tailed coat trimmed with satin
and a matching pair of trousers.
Hats were worn depending on

Depictions of Mark Zuckerburg in The Social Network
In the film The Social Network, directed by David Fincher, the character Mark Zuckerberg is depicted
as an arrogant, egocentric person who will lie and harm the people around him to get to where he
wants. Zuckerberg s ex girlfriend Erica Albright brakes up with him and as a result of his emotions of
that night, he creates a website that becomes very popular within hours of being up, and ultimately
crashes the schools connection. The name Zuckerberg then becomes very popular, and the Winklevoss
twins reach out to him for help to build a new innovating social networking website. This is the
beginning of a giant chain reaction that each decision leads to another bigger conflict. Mark
Zuckerbergs arrogance is seen throughout the entire film, but his arrogance is predominantly seen in
the opening scene, when Zuckerberg is with Erica Albright, at a bar, and not listening to a word of
what she is saying. He says how do you distinguish yourself in a population of people who all got
1600 on their SAT s? to later acknowledge he was talking about himself (Fincher, 2010). This is the
opening scene and we already know a few things about the character character: he is very smart, he
knows it, and he likes to show it off. As a result of his arrogance, Zuckerberg loses his girlfriend. It
might seem as if Mark Zuckerberg is a robot, but he can understand emotions. It s just that they do not
rank as high in his mind as they do in others. When Zuckerberg drunkenly wrote the blog post

Critical Analysis Of Overture To Ruslan And Ludmilla
Overture to Ruslan and Ludmilla by M.Glinka
The concert took place in St. Joseph church on Mono Street. After the orchestra tuned all their
instruments, the conductor, Garo Avessian, came to the podium. The first piece played was Overture to
Ruslan and Ludmilla by M. Glinka, The Overture opens with a fast tempo and dynamic rhythm which
leads to crescendo at moments. There follows a strong, joyous theme that leaps about with seemingly
unbounded energy. Although, this theme, has a complete opposite mood compared to the original
theme, it complements it. After this, a smooth, warm theme is played by the cellos, which to me was
the highlight of the whole piece. What caught my attention, was that the last theme played was the
recapitulation of the original them (sonata form). To me, the conductor and orchestra, completely
understood each other and worked in harmony, mastering an already elegant piece.

What s a unique about this piece is that it was never played before, and it is completely different
compared to the other pieces played. It starts off with drums interspersed with the flute, which
contained elements from both eastern and western styles. Tala then starts playing the piano and at the
same time makes noises with her mouth, which was theatrical and at the same time unorthodox. You
could hear a few middle eastern moments during the piece, plus some western style touches. The piece
finished with her walking around the church holding a small radio, which played a fragment or two
from a popular Lebanese song. All in all, I liked how Bushra fused elements from both western and
middle eastern culture into an unusual piece that we don t hear that often. Moreover, Tala s theatrical
performance enhanced this piece s likability, although, I preferred the other style of music being

The Gondoliers Research Paper
Humor is an essential part of life. It makes the worst moments in our lives seem livable. Also
important in life is music because it simply allows us to enjoy a moment. A moment that can remain
infinite, in a lifetime of finite moments, but only if composed and performed correctly. With music by
Arthur Sullivan and libretto by W. S. Gilbert the elements of music and humor are effortlessly
combined to create a comic opera also known as a savory opera The Gondoliers (The Gondoliers
Program). The Gondoliers first premiered at the Savoy Theatre on December 7, 1889, and has become
a world renowned savory opera that is still frequently performed (Smith). This opera is infinite in that

Gilbert but it almost never materialized. Sullivan had said comedic opera had become distasteful and
he wanted to work on something more dignified (Smith). Luckily for the pair they did create The
Gondoliers which ran a total of 554 performances and was to be given a royal command performance
for Queen Victoria (Smith). The Gondoliers was actually the last great success for Gilbert and
Sullivan. The story of this light hearted opera concerns a complex plot in which there is a tale of love,
marriage, and of course mistaken identity. Two brothers, Marco and Giuseppe, are Republican
Gondoliers with very idealistic ideas (Smith). Just after Giuseppe and Marco become newlyweds Don
Alhambra informed them that that either Giuseppe or Marco is the King of Barataria and are to be wed
to the beautiful Casilda. Upon this news the new wives of the brothers, Tessa and Gianetta, are very
upset and promptly burst out in tears. In the meantime we find out that Casilda is in love with the
family servant Luiz. Casilda is upset as she did not know she was married as a baby and she is worried
she will not be able to love her husband. We then find out that the King of Barataria has been killed
and until it is determined who the rightful prince is the two gondoliers must jointly rule the kingdom.
To find out who will get the crown, Luiz is sent out to find his mother, the nurse of the prince as she is
the only one who can identify the rightful heir to the thrown. Casilda then arrives to claim her husband
only to find that both Marco and Giuseppe are married. Giuseppe and Marco are skillfully left alone
with Casilda but to add to the drama and comedy Tessa and Gianetta sneak in. The group then
discusses the complicated problem of who is married and who is not. The group is interrupted by the
arrival of Inez, the nurse if the Prince. She confesses that when she was caring for the Prince there

Uniquely Cheap
Because computers can perform millions of computations each second, the cost of an individual
calculation approaches zero. This unique property of computers leads to interesting consequences in
ethics.
Uniquely Discrete
In a stimulating paper On the Cruelty of Really Teaching Computer Science, Edsger Dijkstra
examines the implications of one central, controlling assumption: that computers are radically novel in
the history of the world. Given this assumption, it follows that programming these unique machines
will be radically different from other practical intellectual activities. This, Dijkstra believes, is because
the assumption of continuity we make about the behavior of most materials and artifacts does not hold
for computer systems. For most things, small changes lead to small effects, larger changes to
proportionately larger effects. If I nudge the accelerator pedal a little closer to the floor, the vehicle
moves a little faster. If I press the pedal hard to the floor, it moves a lot faster. As machines go,
computers are very different.
Uniquely Coded
Computers operate by constructing codes upon codes upon codes cylinders on top of tracks, tracks on
top of sectors, sectors on top of records, records on top of fields, fields on top of characters, characters
on top of bytes, and bytes on top of primitive binary digits. Computer protocols like TCP/IP are

mutually faithful monogamous relationship in the context of marriage is the expected standard of
human sexual activity. Different people will disagree about the veracity of this statement, but we know

the information they need to protect their health and well being. Students when asked survey by the
Kasier Family Foundation said that they knew more and felt better prepared to handle different

who decide a different path. Abstinence only education supports say that by teaching the abstinence

This is also to avoid having to change the design during construction resulting in delays and increased

involved the excavation mechanically and by hand of trial pits and the drilling of exploratory holes.
Selected samples from the tests were collected to assess the presence of contamination and

Theories Of Restorative Justice
According to Batley (2005), restorative justice is about dealing with the damage that was caused as
well as addressing the needs of the victim and the offender. The relationship between the two parties
and their communities needs to be mended. Zehr Gohar (2003) further states that restorative justice
expands the circle of stakeholders further than that of the justice system. Stakeholders are not just the
offender and the government, but the victim and the community members as well.
As stated by Batley (2005), there are many definitions of restorative justice, but they all contain three
principles, which are:
Victims, offenders and communities all experience pain or damages that is caused by crime. It is

This could lead to the victim feeling pressured into having to see or interact with the offender, which

steps towards healing can be taken. Looking at the above mentioned crimes namely, domestic
violence, sexual violence and rape, murder could be the worst criminal act.
The charge states that restorative justice is not appropriate when dealing with a serious crime such as
murder (Batley, 2005). On the surface the obvious reason would be that the victim would not be able
to partake in the restorative process, however Gaudreault (2005) stated that research shows that family
members and friends of murder victims have shown a willingness to engage in the restorative justice
process. Undertaking the process of having the family take the role of victim could be a form of

Historic Perspective
The end of the 19th century saw a raising concern with the cruelty inflicted to children by their

Medieval Vs Medieval Christmas
Christmas is all about giving, friends and family gathering, feasting together, with beautiful music,
decorations and singing Christmas carols throughout the neighborhood. It is a time of ornaments, red
and green decoration, silver bells, holly, mistletoe and colorful lights. They say that it is the season to
be jolly, but how did Christmas become such a jolly and most wonderful holiday? Understanding the
religious and cultural aspects of the Medieval Christmas, such as the origin of Christmas and the
traditional celebrations of Christmas, can help us to understand and celebrate today s Christmas more
meaningfully.

Whether a person likes or dislikes the works of Lord Alfred Tennyson, most would agree that he was

intellectual values of his time, which made them especially vulnerable for later critic. Alfred, Lord
Tennyson was born in Somersby, Lincolnshire. His father, George ... Show more content on

In the poem Enoch Arden, Philip Ray and Annie Lee grow up together. Enoch wins her hand. He sails
abroad and is shipwrecked for 10 years on a deserted island. Meanwhile Annie has been reduced to
poverty. Philip asks her to marry him. Enoch returns and witnesses their happiness, but hides that he is
alive and sacrifices his happiness for theirs. An Enoch Arden has come to mean a person who truly
loves someone better than himself. The poem ends banally: So past the strong heoic soul away. / And
when they buried him, the little port / Had seldom seen a costlier funeral. IDYLLS OF THE KING
(1859 1885) dealt with the Arthurian theme, and THE ANCIENT SAGE (1885) and AKBAR S
DREAM (1892) testified his faith in the redemption offered by love. Despite his pessimism about the
human condition, the poet believed in God. In the 1870s Tennyson wrote several plays, among them
poetic dramas QUEEN MARY (1875) and HAROLD (1876). In 1884 he was created a baron.
Tennyson died at Aldwort on October 6, 1892 and was buried in the Poets Corner in Westminster
Abbey. Soon he became the favorite target of attacks of many English and American poets who saw
him as a representative of narrow patriotism and sentimentality. Later critics have praised again
Tennyson. T.S. Eliot has called him the great master of metric as well as of melancholia and that he
possessed the finest ear of any English poet since Milton. 1

  • 2. Gracile Features Introduction The more gracile features that denote a female typically include the smaller size or often nonexistence of certain features found on the skeleton including but not limited to the nuchal crest, mastoid process, and brow ridges. Also, the average height of a female is shorter than that of the average male. Due to this difference in skeletal structure, most of the bones in the female skeleton should in some form be sexually dimorphic. The trend of smaller features is of course excluding the pelvic girdle, on which most female features are larger and rounder due to the skeletal requirements of childbirth. Given the above statement, it is reasonable to predict that there would be a distinguishable difference between the metacarpal of a male and a female. Studies have proved that metacarpals are sexually dimorphic, and can be used to identify the sex of a skeleton in both Egyptian and Tai populations. Due to these past studies, it is logical to assume that the same sexually dimorphism can be found in the European population. If successful this study could develop an algorism to help determine the sex from just a single bone. This advancement in our knowledge of sex identification could propel cases, in which the sex of the induvial was undeterminable from the bones recovered. Literary Review A couple studies have been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The measurements include the width, length, diameter, and height of all the metacarpals, giving adequate data to the size of the hand, and joint sizes. Using the data collected from the metacarpals a formula should prove that White Females have distinctly smaller measurement than that of White Males. The difference in measurement is due to the more gracile features of females who need less robust metacarpals because less space for muscle attachment is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Goals And Characteristics Of A Crime Investigation examples of such detectives are Sherlock Holmes with his assistant Dr Watson and our own Indian private investigator Pradosh Chandra Mitter or simply Feluda with his assistant cousin Topshe. There is no case on earth for them which is unsolvable and they are never defeated except Sherlock Holmes who was defeated by a lady in the story The Scandal of Bohemia . They are very well aware and are thorough of their approach and their cases involve little or no violence at all. Thus these fictional detectives stand out in achieving their goals and objectives. FUNCTIONS AND CHARACHTERSTICS OF A CRIME INVESTIGATOR A crime investigation can be considered more effective and complete if the investigator is experienced and has suitable knowledge of science and techniques and has a thorough understanding of his profession. As stated earlier, each crime is unique in itself ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As these investigations involve adventure, thrill, suspense etc. many writers took this topic and began writing a new genre called the crime fiction. The stories of crime fiction include real life cases, murder thrillers, clue puzzle stories etc. The first work of this genre was Moll Flanders which was a novel by Daniel Defoe which was published in 1722. The stories caught up with the readers as it gave them a chance to use their own brain and imagination hereby involving themselves completely with the stories. This genre grew popular and in the later years many writers began writing detective and crime stories. Prominent writers of this genre were Emilie Gaboriau, Gaston Leroux, Maurice Leblanc etc. were the most popular writers of their time. • 4. No Parent Child Relationship With Second Temple... Six out of nineteen texts held topoi providing a possible parent child relationship with Second Temple apocalyptic work. Further consideration reduced the number to three. Of the texts that remain, The Ascent of Enmeduranki, the Divine Nomination of Thutmose II, and Plato s Republic (614b), ranked the strongest. These three sources follow here, respectively. The Ascent of Enmeduranki Although no parent child relationship occurred in this text, scholars often posit it as source material for 1 Enoch; perhaps, a relationship exists through the lens of divinely ordained journeys: Enmeduranki [king of Sippar], the beloved of Anu, Enlil [and Ea]. Šamaš and Adad [brought him in] to their assembly. Šamaš and Adad [honored him]. Šamaš and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 24:1 38:3, and 67 as the final ascension seen in Gen. 5:24). Alongside these similarities, however, are general distinctions as noted under Topos of Secrecy, and specific distinctions concerning divinely ordained Journeys. Enmeduranki s journey authority derives from his presence among deity. By comparison, Enoch s author wove together multiple authorities: divine presence begins a journey, but includes authority from cosmology, secrecy, and righteousness. Furthermore, using 1 Enoch 14:8 as an example, the author provides both setting and method in which Enoch ascends; yet, a close reading shows no description of the anabasis in Enmeduranki text. These descriptions, however, are present in the Divine Nomination of Thutmose III. The Divine Nomination of Thutmose III The Divine Nomination of Thutmose III concerns his legitimacy as ruler, providing a picture of the Egyptian enthronement rites: [He opened for] me the doors of heaven; he spread open for me the portals of its horizon. I flew up to the sky as a divine falcon, that I might see his mysterious form which is in heaven, that I might adore his majesty. (10) ... I saw the forms of being of the Horizon God on his mysterious ways in heaven. Re himself established me, and I was endowed with [his] crowns [which] were upon his head, his uraeus serpent was fixed upon [my brow] ... I [was equipped] with all his states of ... • 5. The Determinants Of Women Participation 5.4 Determinants of Women Participation in SACCOs. Women s equal participation in cooperatives is both a women s right and important for sustainable and people centered development. If cooperatives are gender responsive and inclusive, they can help women to overcome gender specific constraints to improve their self confidence, knowledge, leadership skills, income, and access to agricultural inputs, social networks, and position in value chains. When women are more economically and socially empowered, evidence shows that there are direct and positive impact on women s household and community decision making power and on access to and control over productive assets. • 6. I Am A Master Of My Own Destiny, By The United States Of... In the United States of America, there are over 300 million people. Each one of these people have heard messages that tell them that they are in control. Whether it s their own lives or those around them; Americans are bred with the idea that complete control is possible. This idea is not a new concept for Americans. In fact, Americans have had overinflated ideas about control since we decided that it was necessary for us to control the rest of the nation via Manifest Destiny. The reason that I choose to focus on Americanized control as my final narrative is because it is something that I ve grown familiar with in my life. It s always the same kinds of people buying into it and being lead astray to the troubles that come with having such a strong desire for control. In fact, I was once a believer in that ideology. I once thought that I was the master of my own destiny, but I was wrong. As I got older and time went on, every single thing that I m writing now is everything that I ve seen in others. In other words, knowing that a person has no control over their life is something that I understand intensely. I understand it so well that I can breakdown some aspects of the type of control that affect Americans like me. These characteristics of control are: the punishment of those who seemingly lack control, that planning is a placebo and therefore does nothing, and working hard amounts to nothing. Control is sold to people on the idea that it s achievable by all and only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Causes Of Unemployment In The Great Depression Throughout history both political parties have struggled with many obstacles in governmental policy. One policy issue that has been apart of both political platforms for years is unemployment. The unemployment of the American citizen has been high since the beginning of the Great Depression. Because of high unemployment rates, the American economy has been spiraling into debt now reaching seven trillion dollars. This has led both political parties to take aim at one another, blaming the opposition for the social and economical distress. The problem of wide spread unemployment is prominent in political platforms throughout the years. After the stock markets crashed in 1929, the United States was faced with an economical battle it had never seen before. Unemployment was at an all time high because banks were closing and the American dollar was seemingly meaningless. This brought on mass hysteria and caused chaos throughout the American population. The American public started looking to the leaders of this country for answers. They couldn t find jobs, and what jobs they did find were paying them almost nothing. The public wanted this problem fixed. During the 1932 election, both the democratic and republican parties addressed the high unemployment brought on by the depression. The Democratic nominee, Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR), was convinced that this problem was the fault of the former president and Republican nominee, for the 1932 election, Herbert Hoover. NASA Economic Lens Chuck Tang Period 4 Capstone 1/13/16 Space Exploration Economic Lens On July 21, 1969, the United States rocket Apollo 11 landed on the moon, marking a monumental and unprecedented feat of mankind. Culminated as the product of breakthrough innovations in engineering and physics and overwhelming government support (which granted NASA over 4% of the federal budget), the moon landing was the crowning moment of NASA s accomplishments. At that time, a new era of space exploration seemed to be on the verge of occurrence. However, fifty years later, NASA has seemed to have fallen from its old glory, with the United States Federal government spending only 0.5% of the nation s federal budget on its space endeavors. Citing cases such as SpaceX, which built a rocket named the dragon 320x cheaper than NASA s spaceship the Orion, many opponents to governmental space exploration heavily recommend NASA to privatize many of its sectors. However, contrary to popular belief, NASA is not an entirely government run corporation and in essence has already inherently privatized almost all of its sectors which should be privatized to cut down costs. For instance, NASAAdministrator Chris Scolese told a congressional subcommittee back in 2009 that the agency will give $150 million in stimulus package money to private companies that design, build and service their own rockets. Furthermore, NASA has picked three private companies to act as its International Space Station delivery service through the next eight years. The contractors of SpaceX, Orbital ATK, and Sierra Nevada Corporation will transport supplies up to the International Space Station and back to NASA starting in late 2019. Most importantly, President Obama announced in his Space Plan that his goal was to restructure NASA to focus on space research and development while reassigning the other tasks of NASA to private corporations. Thus, the claim that NASA needs to privatize falls hollow because NASA is already privatizing the sectors which should be privatized. Nicu Case Studies INTRODUCTION It is common consensus that the levels of light and noise in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) ward has always been and presently unacceptable, although historically there has been ongoing debate about the exact level and type of impact this environment has on preterm infants in terms of their sleep patterns and neuropsychological development. There has been some support by substantial research that has previously found stimulation in the NICU has a detrimental effect on the development, growth and quality of sleep of infants. Long term implications have also been found to have a negative effect on the motor and neurological functioning of preterm infants. However, other studies argue that they had found no significant effects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is important to provide premature babies with the many undisturbed rest hours they require for their development, health and well being. The investigation was done by three different principal designers and a team in three stages, understanding the problem (vision building), verifying (specifying) by conducting a feasibility study, and project management (preparation for strict development). Despite the positive results of many academic and company studies, several physicians reported in personal communication that the actual sound levels at the ward has only changed marginally (if at all) over the years. Sound levels at the NICU are problematic for the neonate infants, because noise is a direct cause of long lasting auditory problems and a significant cause of neurologic impairment, cardiovascular and respiratory problems. There were new technology measures proposed to minimise or overcome these problems, including a central system connecting all medical equipment, centrally controlled sound generating units with redesigned sounds and user interfaces. Despite only having found two studies on the variable of movement, both researchers agreed that movement (tactile/kinaesthetic stimulation) had positive effects on a range of developmental outcomes of preterm infants. Only two studies suggested new solutions for this ongoing problem, but yet again none of these have been tried, tested or proven in real cases. The fact that there are barely any studies done on the variable of constant movement makes problems in this field of research even more challenging to solve, hence the need for further interest and research on the specific variables of constant movement, light and noise if we are going to provide and create a ... We have taken an example of the Intel Company: Intel conducted a small PoC that explored how they could encourage behavior modification by showing employees that small things, such as using standby mode on their laptops or turning off a printer when it s not being used, can add up to big savings. During this PoC, they first established a baseline of energy consumption through real time metering of energy use in 12 cubicles. In one group, they focused solely on awareness and education. Every two to three days, Intel provided this group with information on how much energy they were using, and how much it cost. They did not provide any other information or requests to change behavior to the members of this group. For the second group they installed a third party software agent that deployed and enforced power management profiles. The profiles were set up to put the monitor into standby after ten minutes of idle time, and to put the PC into standby after 30 minutes of idle time. After two additional weeks of real time metering, Intel examined the energy use of the two groups. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Following Swinburne s example, I will argue that the Problem of Evil does not give us good reason to believe that an omnipotent, benevolent deity does not exist. To do so, I will first summarize Epicurus original question of the problem of evil. Then, I will defend my claim by proposing the free will defense. Furthermore, I will discuss how the concepts of benevolence and omnipotence are inconsistent with the definition of God according to the free will defense. Lastly, I will address and respond to a possible objection to my argument. In David Hume s Dialogues Concerning Natural Religion, he claims that Epicurus s old question is yet unanswered. (Cahn, end of page 958) The question he refers to are the following: Is he willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is impotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Whence then is evil? (Cahn, end of page 958, beginning of page 959) The he specifies God. Thus, the question can be translated to the following: God is good if he wants to prevent evil. If God does not want to prevent evil, he is bad. If God can prevent evil, he is all powerful. If God cannot prevent evil, he is not all powerful. Therefore, if God is both good and all powerful, then evil should not exist. Young presses that this oppression must be viewed in a way that analyzes the condition of human practices and their conscious actions. Young continues by defining social groups, aggregate, and associations. Social groups are collectives of persons differentiated from other groups by cultural forms, practices, or ways of life. Aggregates are classification of people according to attributes, and associates are formally organized institutions (43 44). Groups through these only exist in relation to other groups. These groups arise from a common oppression or their identity has to be pointed out by outside groups. Young then provides her particular methodology for defining a group as oppressed. These criteria are exploitation, marginalization, powerlessness, cultural imperialism, and violence. She says that only one of these criteria must be met in order for a group to be considered oppressed. This oppression criteria must be utilized on the basis of comparison for groups, yet avoids a hierarchy of oppression through saying that all groups are suffering and are united in their mutual oppression. He says how do you distinguish yourself in a population of people who all got 1600 on their SAT s? to later acknowledge he was talking about himself (Fincher, 2010). This is the opening scene and we already know a few things about the character character: he is very smart, he knows it, and he likes to show it off. • 26. Critical Analysis Of Overture To Ruslan And Ludmilla Overture to Ruslan and Ludmilla by M.Glinka The concert took place in St. Joseph church on Mono Street. After the orchestra tuned all their instruments, the conductor, Garo Avessian, came to the podium. The first piece played was Overture to Ruslan and Ludmilla by M. Glinka, The Overture opens with a fast tempo and dynamic rhythm which leads to crescendo at moments. There follows a strong, joyous theme that leaps about with seemingly unbounded energy. Although, this theme, has a complete opposite mood compared to the original theme, it complements it. After this, a smooth, warm theme is played by the cellos, which to me was the highlight of the whole piece. What caught my attention, was that the last theme played was the recapitulation of the original them (sonata form). To me, the conductor and orchestra, completely understood each other and worked in harmony, mastering an already elegant piece. Of Laughter and Forgetting by Bushra El Turk ... It starts off with drums interspersed with the flute, which contained elements from both eastern and western styles. Tala then starts playing the piano and at the same time makes noises with her mouth, which was theatrical and at the same time unorthodox. You could hear a few middle eastern moments during the piece, plus some western style touches. The piece finished with her walking around the church holding a small radio, which played a fragment or two from a popular Lebanese song. All in all, I liked how Bushra fused elements from both western and middle eastern culture into an unusual piece that we don t hear that often. Moreover, Tala s theatrical performance enhanced this piece s likability, although, I preferred the other style of music being played that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. The Gondoliers Research Paper Humor is an essential part of life. It makes the worst moments in our lives seem livable. Also important in life is music because it simply allows us to enjoy a moment. A moment that can remain infinite, in a lifetime of finite moments, but only if composed and performed correctly. With music by Arthur Sullivan and libretto by W. S. Gilbert the elements of music and humor are effortlessly combined to create a comic opera also known as a savory opera The Gondoliers (The Gondoliers Program). The Gondoliers first premiered at the Savoy Theatre on December 7, 1889, and has become a world renowned savory opera that is still frequently performed (Smith). Sullivan had said comedic opera had become distasteful and he wanted to work on something more dignified (Smith). Luckily for the pair they did create The Gondoliers which ran a total of 554 performances and was to be given a royal command performance for Queen Victoria (Smith). The Gondoliers was actually the last great success for Gilbert and Sullivan. The story of this light hearted opera concerns a complex plot in which there is a tale of love, marriage, and of course mistaken identity. Two brothers, Marco and Giuseppe, are Republican Gondoliers with very idealistic ideas (Smith). Just after Giuseppe and Marco become newlyweds Don Alhambra informed them that that either Giuseppe or Marco is the King of Barataria and are to be wed to the beautiful Casilda. Upon this news the new wives of the brothers, Tessa and Gianetta, are very upset and promptly burst out in tears. In the meantime we find out that Casilda is in love with the family servant Luiz. Casilda is upset as she did not know she was married as a baby and she is worried she will not be able to love her husband. We then find out that the King of Barataria has been killed and until it is determined who the rightful prince is the two gondoliers must jointly rule the kingdom. To find out who will get the crown, Luiz is sent out to find his mother, the nurse of the prince as she is the only one who can identify the rightful heir to the thrown. Casilda then arrives to claim her husband only to find that both Marco and Giuseppe are married. Giuseppe and Marco are skillfully left alone with Casilda but to add to the drama and comedy Tessa and Gianetta sneak in. The group then discusses the complicated problem of who is married and who is not. The group is interrupted by the arrival of Inez, the nurse if the Prince. The relationship between the two parties and their communities needs to be mended. Stakeholders are not just the offender and the government, but the victim and the community members as well.
