Examples Of Annotating Graphic Images
P4. Annotating graphic images Yellow duck story For this poster I have used different layers to
make a graphic combining a background image, the yellow duck ,the black duck, the bucket and
the text and the speech bubbles. The yellow duck was created manually by cropping the white
colour using the brush tool. All text was made using T tool. The speech bubbles were creating
by using the elliptical marquee tool and the pen. I first made the sphere then I held Shift and I
draw the direction of the speech bubble. These are the header settings and style: Duck speech:

Causes Of American Civil War
There were many causes to the American Civil War. One Major cause of the Civil War was the
Missouri Compromise. This was a cause because people from other states who were eligible to
vote voted that missouri would be a slave state even though the people living in missouri wanted
it to be a free state(The Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia 1). The Missouri Compromise incident
also caused small battles like Bleeding Kansas(Causes of the Civil 1). One other major cause of the
Civil War was the election of President Abraham Lincoln. The north wanted Lincoln to become
President but the southern states hated the idea of Lincoln coming into office(The Columbia
Electronic Encyclopedia 1). The south thought that Lincoln would take away their rights... Show

prepared. What happened after all of these battles took place?
The united states changed a lot after the war. The union did not really change. The only difference
was Lincoln was killed so a new president had to be elected(Reconstruction 1). The south had major
changes. Their slaves were taken away and their plantations were burned(Reconstruction 1). Many
southerners were left starving so many of them moved to the north(Reconstruction 1). The north
also had to rebuild the things the south destroyed but it was more significant in the south(Guelzo

Narrative Essay Hurricane
It was like we were a couple of high school lovers in heat, until the heat got too hot to handle. It
was soon after a major category four hurricane dealt us a glancing blow as it rolled up the east
coast of Florida that we decided to pack a little lunch and take a ride over to the beach. It had
dropped fifteen degrees after the storm and we had the whole beach to ourselves as I laid out a
blanket and sat down to enjoy the last few hours of sunlight. The wind was just cool enough to
instigate some heavy petting and it wasn t long before we were thoroughly hot and bothered. We
were like two teens in heat, the way we were grinding and kissing like it was something new, until

And there we were, nekkid and unafraid, her like the lion tamer under me, cracking the whip of
lust and need, imploring that I don t stop , and in fact harder, harder, harder! . I literally rammed
my head into a wall as my pelvis crushed her clit between us and she screamed that she was
coming. There was applause and hoots of appreciation just off in the dusk of the night, but I
couldn t care less, and either could she, as she pleaded for me to come deep inside me and others
expletives that were clearly used to motivate me further. She wrapped her arms around my neck
and kissed me hard before breaking it to look down between our bodies and demanded fuck me
harder . I took a deep renewing breath and looked too as we watched my thick glistening cock
piston in and out of her like we were going to explode. Until we did. Like two head on trains, we
collided one last time, and it was my turn to exclaim. I howled like an American werewolf and to
more applause and chants for an encore, to which she blushed and pulled me down on top of her,
when we all of a sudden we became shy, but not of the least embarrassed. Happy Hump

The Relation Between Premarital Cohabitation And Divorce...
The Relation Between Premarital Cohabitation and Divorce Rates
Shalene Gerritsen
University of Nebraska
Introduction to Sociological Research
November 18, 2014
Many couples find themselves cohabiting today because it is cheaper and more convenient while
others take it as a step forward in their committed relationships. Regardless of reason cohabiting has
become a union of choice. In recent years cohabitation has transformed from an act of deviance to
a norm in many societies. We will be focusing on how time and social change determines
cohabitation and divorce.
LITERATURE REVIEW There have been many conflicting studies on whether there is a clear
relation between premarital cohabitation and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Waal (2008) predicts that there will be 2.93m cohabiting couples by 2021 (p. 47). This would be a
90% increase in the past 25 years. Cohabiting couples have become more common due to the
increase in social acceptance. An article in the New York Times (2012) contributes the increase to
the sexual revolution and the availability of birth control.
Theory and Research Question The relation between cohabitation and divorce rates can also be
explained through the use of Deviance. Deviance is a theory in which a society views an action as
unacceptable (William and Thorton 2014). Cohabitation has transferred from being deviant to a
social norm in past years. Those who cohabit are no longer a minority. For this reason the Deviance
Theory is a possible explanation as to why there has been a shift in the relation between premarital
cohabitation and divorce rates. We question the relation between premarital cohabitation and
divorce. From looking at literature regarding this question I hypothesize that time and social change
determines cohabitation and divorce.
Methods. The qualitative method proposed for gathering data is a longitudinal cohort study.
Participants in the study include couples who have been married in the year 2015. The
participants will include 20 couples from each of the 50 states. 10 of the couples will have
cohabited prior to marriage

Mya Renaissance Video Analysis
Something I found particularly interesting in the Mya Renaissance video was the architecture that
the Mayans created. The structures that they built were beautiful. The structures were the largest
structures outside ancient Egypt at the time. It amazes me that they can build structures so vast
without the equipment that we have today. It also is unbelievable that many of these structures
are still standing today because of how well they were built. It was also interesting to me how the
cities were laid out according to the cardinal directions of Mayan belief. The structures were
created for specific events and used as markers for the Mayans. The El Castillo pyramid at Chichen
Itza is particularly interesting because it catches the light

Surrealism And The Art Of Salvador Dali
Salvador Dali is one of the most famous surrealist artists. His artwork is fascinating to look at and
analyze. All of his work is very imaginative, rendered at a high level of realism, and is filled with
extensive symbolism. First I will talk about the history of Surrealism, then how Dali studied and
admired Sigmund Freuds theories which greatly influenced his art, he used Sigmund Freud s
psychoanalytic theory of dreaminterpretation to invent a technique for his work, and then using this
technique he painted his bizarre dreams.
Andre Breton founded the Surrealist movement in 1924 with his Manifesto of Surrealism which
argued that art can benefit from an understanding of the Freudian dreamscape. His definitions of
Surrealism were, Dictionary: Surrealism, n. Pure psychic automatism, by which one proposes to
express, either verbally, in writing, or by any other manner, the real functioning of thought.
Dictation of thought in the absence of all control exercised by reason, outside of all aesthetic and
moral preoccupation. Encyclopedia: Surrealism. Philosophy. Surrealism is based on the belief in
the superior reality of certain forms of previously neglected associations, in the omnipotence of
dream, in the disinterested play of thought. It tends to ruin once and for all other psychic
mechanisms and to substitute itself for them in solving all the principal problems of life (Breton,
1924).

A metropolitan area is a region that consists of a densely populated urban core and its less
populated surrounding areas that are economically and socially linked to it. The criteria of
defining metropolitan areas changed in 2003. Smaller MSAs remained the same, but larger
metropolitan areas, previously referred to as consolidated metropolitan statistical areas
(CMSAs) are now defined as MSAs (see figure 1). Different portions of CMSAs, previously
referred to as primary metropolitan statistical areas (PMSAs), have been redefined and
reconfigured as metropolitan divisions. For example, the old New York CMSA consisted of
eleven counties in two states and four PMSAs: New York PMSA, Nassau Suffolk PMSA,
Dutchess County PMSA and Newburgh, NY PA PMSA (see figure 2). The current New York MSA
consists of twenty three counties in three states and four metropolitan divisions. Metropolitan
divisions do not perfectly substitute for PMSAs, as they have different size thresholds (2.5 million
vs. 1 million population), but they come as close to representing homogenous units as we can come
with current census geography. Metropolitan divisions are designated for each of the eleven largest

The Death Of The Pregnancy Test Essay
Many women find themselves in situations that leave them with an unwanted pregnancy and
abort their baby. The cause of abortion could simply be a birth control failure, from rape or
incest, inability to take care of the child, or in most cases, pressure from others. Whatever the
case may be, these women have chosen to get rid of their child, without thinking of the
consequences after it is done. After a mother chooses to abort her baby, she will be greatly
affected psychologically and could possibly change her and her future family s life forever.
Before the procedure is done, the mother of the child is positive about her decision, unaware of the
mental experiences she will be going through. Nonetheless, after the operation is done, the mother
will experience personal shame that could result in repressed grief, causing serious problems.
The anxiety over the unwanted pregnancy; the drama of the pregnancy test; often, the difficulty of
making the decision, then the waiting before the abortion can take place; perhaps protesters in front
of the clinic; the abortion clinic waiting room, crowded perhaps with other emotional women and
men; the abortion itself the doctors and nurses, the stirrups, the vacuum or other machinery then the
recovery room; the pain and bleeding afterward. All these dramatic experiences are likely to
provide her with indelible memories. A woman may return to them and relive them over and over.

In other words, the mother of the child could develop

Drunk Driving Consequences
A Consequence To Equal The Crime While most Americans would never consider getting
behind the wheel of a vehicle after having a drink or riding in a vehicle driven by a drunk driver,
a much higher percentage of Americans, both teens and adults, admit to using their phone while
operating a vehicle or being passengers in a vehicle driven by a distracted driver. It s a
dangerous and terrible habit American drivers have developed and accepted. With technology at
driver s fingertips, drivers are becoming more and more tempted to take their focus off the road, an
action that they by and large assume to be harmless and while there is a social stigma against drunk

Even in states without explicit laws, texting while driving can lead to reckless driving charges. In
most states, law enforcement agencies are allowed to issue traffic citations and tickets for texting
while driving. Drivers in states which use point systems to track drivers records can incur points for
texting while driving. In some cases, texting while driving can lead to vehicular manslaughter or
homicide charges. Despite increased attention from law enforcement, there continues to be a
significant variation in the penalties for texting while driving when compared to driving under the
influence. In Florida for example, the fine for texting while driving is just $30, while a DUI
ticket is $1000. In 42 states, jail time is a possible penalty for DUI, but only 2 states have
possible jail time for texting while driving. There are wide discrepancies in penalties across the
country. In Alaska, the fine for drunk driving is $1500, but the penalty for drivers caught texting
while driving is a shocking $10,000. Alaska is a state that recognizes the dangers of distracted
driving and has imposed a fine fitting the offense. California is the opposite. The penalty for
texting while driving is just a $20 fine, whereas a DUI translates to a $1000 fine, a 4 month license
suspension, and up to 6 months in jail. Alarmingly, most states are similar to California and texting

Taking a Look at Impulse Buying
The American Marketing Association defines impulse buying as a purchase made without
planning. Frequently, the purchase is an emotional reaction to a marketing stimulus the latter

American lifestyle and has been receiving increasing attention from consumer researchers and
theorists (Youn Faber, 2000, p.179) . Despite the negative aspects ofthe impulse buying behavior

Dissolution Of Coral Reefs
The dissolution of coral reefs is a growing consequence of human activities. While efforts toward
regulation of anthropogenic factors and of ocean acidification project small feats of improvement,
time is essential to determine whether or not reduction of these factors correlate with restoration of
coralreefs. Coral transplantation as a direct solution to this coral reefdissolution can thus be
explored, as it effectively aims to return coral ecosystems by _______.
Human activity such as overfishing, oil disposal, sewage, and chemical pollution attribute only a

means of active restoration requires very little training, meaning that moving and reattaching

most enticing qualities of this method is its fiscal convenience, as cost of all materials, use of a

Anatomy of a Hipster Essay
Over time, social group labels tend to mutate from their original interpretation, due to societal
evolution. The hipster is no exception, as it originally referred to 1940s Bebop Jazz enthusiasts.
Hipsters has since become the term referencing pretentious rich kids, attempting to recreate a
sense of underground ness; whether it be music or style related. However, hipsters of today differ
from the former in the sense that their actions are fueled solely by effort, rather than sheer interest
of being outlandish and chic concurrently with music and style. The typical hipster is obsessed

Musically speaking, there is no definite hipster band. Indie kids will always be identified with
Death Cab6, while the hipster will try to claim The Postal Service7 as their melodic saviors.
Once again, a rip off. Hipsters hugely identify with the phrase Oh, I doubt you ve heard of them,
when asked about their favorite bands. Anything offbeat or mildly controversial is loved by the
hipster YACHT8, the Shins9, The Strokes any band, regardless of style that is lesser known.
When it comes to music, hipsters also love to claim that they liked a particular band before they
sold out or before they gave in to the Man. However, it presents another irony, as the excessive
amounts of hipsters actually buying their music is what contributed to a band selling out. If Owl
City has any B Sides out there, a hipster has them and won t feel like sharing them anytime soon,
even if they did find it on Mediafire10. The most distinguishing feature of the hipster lies in their
personalities. They can point out a fellow hipster quick and concise; while drowning in denial
should the label be imposed on them. Hipsters all contain some superiority based thought process
when analyzing their own originality. However, if one is to be thinking extensively about whether
or not they re being different, they re more than likely not. Such a

Roof Restoration Cost Essay
How much does modern roof restoration cost in Australia?
At some point in the lifetime of your home you will need to replace the roof. Perhaps it has
succumb to corrosion, has worn out and leaks, or is otherwise too damaged to be patched and
easily repaired. The roof restoration cost can feel daunting but there are a few factors that come
into play that can make a big difference.
Can the roof be cleaned, repaired, or restored instead of fully replaced?
One of the first things you ll want to consider is if the roof can be repaired without needing to be
completely replaced. If you can repair damaged sections vs. replacing the whole roof you ll

Other factors that affect cost:
The cost of the modern roof restoration or replacement will also be affected by a number of
aspects including the pitch of your roof, how complex the roof design is, do the gutters and/or
insulation also need to be replaced, how high the roof is, and which type of roofing material you
want to use.
Once some of these factors are considered you can expect the reroofing to cost between $80 and
$120 per square metre. If you have a have with an exceptionally complex design or feature than
the cost will be more. When you discuss this with your contractor make sure you ask them if the
cost includes removal and disposal or the debris from the roof you are replacing. In all cases it

Analysis Of `` Savage Inequalities `` By Jonathan Kozol Essay
Martin Luther once said, When schools flourish, all flourishes. Schools are the institutions where
students foundations for lifelong success are built. One would think, or at least hope, that sixty
years after the Brown v. Board of Education decision, all schools in America would be flourishing
or near flourishing. How wonderful would it be, if politicians and other people in power realized
how true Martin Luther s words were. Unfortunately, this is not the case. As Jonathan Kozol
explicitly depicts in his 1991 novel, Savage Inequalities, inequality in American public schools still
exists despite segregation being outlawed. Even though this book was written twenty five years
ago, it still applies to this day. There are many schools in America that are still segregated, and the
complete opposite of flourishing. This is due to one main reason: inadequate funding. There is a
tremendous amount of inequality in funding between the poor, cityschools, and the affluent,
suburban schools. Kozol explores these various schools in his novel, and demonstrates how by
underfunding schools that are in dire need of funds, we are essentially setting up our future
generations for failure. We are inhibiting them from reaching their potentials and showcasing their
talents. We ourselves are ripping their chances of a bright future out of their hands. We are
allowing our society to believe segregation in schools is ok.

An Ad From Nike Called Unlimited You
The ad I choose to analyze was an ad from Nike called Unlimited You . The people that are
depicted in the ad are children, amateur athletes, pro athletes and anyone who has a dream that
may seem impossible to achieve. Both male and female are represented in this ad. There are very
well skilled men and women in this ad that are competing in high competition. There facial
expressions in the ad shows their competitive side meaning they have fierce looks. They are
dressed in uniform for whatever sportthey are playing which include: running, golf, tennis,
swimming, soccer, gymnastics, wrestling, basketball, baseball, skateboarding, football and
martial arts. In this ad specifically it does not promote one specific product however it promotes
the companies brand by advertising on these athletes. The way Nike used their angles to make
this video was very creative. It showed realistic and unrealistic events in their ad. For example, it
showed Orlando Magic s superstar Aaron Gordon getting into a car crash and jumping off the
car and performing a dunk. It was very unique yet very creative. The lighting used was to make
sure it seemed like you were watching the actual sporting event. There were many different
surroundings in each of the clips but they always emphasized the athlete. There were a wide range
of colors used in this ad depending on what scenery they were at. Each sporting event that they
showed had its specific color depending on the crowd, playing surface and sport they

Native American Stereotypes Essay
Stereotypes are a widely held conceptions or beliefs about certain groups of people or things. The
stereotypes of Native American Indians have never really been consistent. The stereotypes of
Native American Indians seem to vary from time to time. I wonder if the variations had anything to
do with the influence of what is being presented in the media and photographs. I want to compare
the stereotypesfrom the past to the present time. With our education and knowledge right now, I
wonder if the media is more conscious of how they portrayed Native Americans. My main focus
will be how Native American Indians are being presented or portrayed in the media.
The media has played an increasing role in the stereotype perceptions of Native Americans. ... Show

So the profit can only be use to improve the education, welfare, and economic programs for
Native American people. If they want to do anything else with the profit it would have to be
approved first by the Department of Interior secretary (Indian Country Today Media network). The
tribes get the profit only after the lenders and payout are paid first. In reality most Native
American Indians don t even profit from casinos at all. Almost everybody has a perception that
Native Americans received check from government. But does everyone know that is not actually
free money from the government. The money is actually from the treaties that was made between
the tribes and U.S. for using or taking their lands. The money isn t sent to anyone individually. The
money is sent to the tribes or nations whose Tribal council determine how the money will be
distributed (rezkids). There is a lot of news talking about U.S government paying or sending checks
to certain Native American tribes. The latest one is in that government owed 3.4 billion to Native
American Indians (staff). The news always have the amount in bold letters to emphasize it. The
news focuses more on the amount than on why they are receiving that money. The 3.4 billion was

Curriculum Evaluation
Curriculum Evaluation
For this assignment, I intend to evaluate the Level 2 Diploma in bricklaying as it is my own
specialist area. I will be discussing the theories and models of curriculum, influences on the design,
evaluation and quality assurance systems. I will also evaluate the level 2 Diploma and discuss
proposals for improvement. I currently teach at a HMP Moorland where I permanently deliver the
bricklaying diploma alongside my colleague.
When curriculum development is being considered, Vashist (2003:1) states that the development of
curriculum has been conditioned by certain influences. Firstly, the subject matter is an obvious
influence, then the course content and the influence of quantitative standards. Kelly (2004:2) ...

Such activities are embedded into the theory sessions and portfolios (unit 2002 in the bricklaying
Diploma), but emphasis and reinforcement in the workshop will help learners improve their mental
skills. Such activities in the classroom would include working with measurements, calculating areas
and adding and subtracting measurements. In the workshop, basic calculating of materials would
be required and using trigonometry and Pythagoras theorem to find angles and lengths. Correct
terminology will be emphasised so that learners will understand terminology and start to use it in
their specialist subject which would help learners if they need to communicate with building
suppliers or work colleagues. This is beyond the curriculum requirements and moves into the hidden
curriculum as the learners are learning through their experiences rather than the educational
objectives.
The Diploma was introduced in September 2008 and replaced the ICA (Intermediate

website states that the benefits of the Level 2 Diploma are: * Apprentices and learners will be
more skilled and knowledgeable * Individuals will be able to move across various projects,
contracts and employers * There is a standard testing strategy for consistency with knowledge tests,
practical assignments and the GOLA (Global On Line Assessment) test.

My Childhood During The Dust Bowl

Professor Cute
October 29, 2015
My childhood during the dust bowl in 1931, wasn t as joyful and fun as the childhood kids, have
these days. I m showing and informing you, my daughter, what the life of the dust bowl was like
through the eyes of a child, and how my life was influenced greatly. I ve witnessed and experienced
my family slowly falling apart and all my parents hard work get taken away in heartbeat. I had no
control over this and it affected my life significantly. Even though people who were alive during the
dust bowl were greatly affected, the ones who were drastically affected were the children. We
experienced our families hard work vanish in a heartbeat, we were psychologically, mentally, and
emotionally affected and experienced our families fall apart.
Families during the dust bowl suffered from not having enough money to support their families. I
would watch grandma and grandpa struggle everyday, but they would always manage to keep a
smile on their face for uncle Joe and I. The families then, didn t make enough money to put food
on the table for themselves let alone their family. Which then would have the kids like me; go to
bed starving and without being fed. Which affected a lot of the children psychologically, mentally,
and emotionally. NO matter how hard grandma and grandpa tried, it just wasn t enough back then.
We saw them not being able to provide for our family. I would see some of the children drink

The Modern Age Presents Multiple Channels For Action,...
The modern age presents multiple channels for action, dialogue and discussion. Furthermore, social
and political thought suggests that spaces of remembrance encourage understanding, thought and
reflection. Thus, it is thought that memory holds vast opportunities to mend the of frailty of
human affairs. Good deeds, when reified into memories can be held up to be replicated, or
possibly surpassed in the future. Yet the process of memorialisation is often contested, for the
formation of memory can only occur in retrospect on behalf of someone or something. Public
commemoration is a difficult process, as it simplifies and condenses complex stories at the cost of
omitting others. Thus, spaces of remembrance can become spaces of contestation, and memory
entails political risk. Memory presents a crucial tension in the network of ideas and action, which
are both public and private. It is not only central to improving the frailty of human affairs, it is a
dauntingly complex process weaved with intrinsically personal reflections, which, leads us to the
fundamental paradox of memory. Memory is crucial to the public realm, but it originates within.
Furthermore, the modern age multiplies spaces of remembrance presenting an unfettered
opportunity to improve the frailty of human affairs. Yet, the contestation of memories such as those
in war have often been internalised, and thus refuted on a deeply personal level to challenge
mourning is viewed as perverse act of disrespectful to the

Analysis of the Management of a University of Tennessee Martin s Women s Basketball Game
The management of any given sporting event is thought by the common individual as an easy

In America there is a growing issue some say. The issue being gun control and how guns affect
and/or end lives, the even bigger issue though is the issue of how people can or can not write
about gun control to educate the public. Gun Control is an issue that needs to be avoided when
trying to persuade readers of an opinion for two reasons, the issue of guncontrol is a terrible essay
topic because there are too many emotions involved in gun control debates and because in general
there is no good research on gun control. The only essays and articles available for research are

against gun control. Using the same strategy the author turns the reader to getting rid of guns in
America by showing credibility in several ways. First we see ethos expressed to stop gun control

odds of readers sharing the opinions learned from Pro/Con: Gun Legislation and articles like it
that are against having guns in America. Again in Guns Safety Middle Ground by Devin Hughes

The Invention Of Dna Testing
Improper forensics, bad lawyering, snitches, unqualified experts, eye witness misidentification,
false confessions, and mishandled evidence are all just a few reasons for wrongful convictions in
the justice system. However, the authors of Actual Innocence: When Justice Goes Wrong and How
to Make it Right, discuss how DNA is a main factor into actually innocent people. Throughout this
book we learn stories about those who were wrongfully convicted and later proven guilty for
reasons such as DNA testing. While this proves to us that not everyone convicted is guilty, it points
out many other errors in the criminal justicesystem as well. The beginning chapters of the book
discuss the invention of DNA testing as well as the unreliability of eye witness testimony. As of
2003, the authors mention that thirty two states had post convictionDNA testing statutes with
legislation pending in ten others (Dwyer 352). This allows testing when there is such DNA
evidence relating to the crimeavailable. More than two thirds of the 130 post conviction DNA
exonerations in the United States involved mistaken eye witness identifications (Dwyer 353). This
is because witnesses are encouraged to pick which participant compares best to the image they have
in their head even though the true perpetrator may not be present. Eye witness testimonies are the
primary source brought against defendants and is one of the most important ones that need to focus
on reform. Later chapters bring up the

Case Study Of Ethical Dilemmas In Public Hospitals
4.Ethical dilemmas in Public Hospitals in Thailand
Most organizations face ethical dilemmas that are situations in which there is a choice to be made
between two options, neither of which resolves the situation in an ethically acceptable manner. In
some cases, societal and personal ethical guidelines can provide dissatisfactory outcome for the
chooser. Ethical dilemmas consider that the chooser will abide by societal norms, such as codes of
law or policies given, in order to make the choice ethically impossible.

As a result of Dr. Blacklock and Vivian Thomas research and breakthrough human heart surgery
became possible. The two worked closely together and had major contributions to the heart surgery.
However, Vivian Thomas contributions to the research went unnoticed for more than three decades.
Vivian Thomas faced many inequalities, which he approached with a respectable manner. Many of
the inequalities faced were because of the changing attitudes about racethroughout the 20th

Gene Technology Is The Basic Physical And Functional Unit...
Introduction: A gene is the basic physical and functional unit of heredity and can be used in gene
technology processes. Gene technology refers the range of activities concerned with understanding
gene expression, taking advantage of natural genetic variation, modifying genes and transferring
genes to new hosts. A specific example of genetechnology is Gene Therapy. This term refers to the
process of introducing DNAinto a patient to treat a genetic disease. The new DNA contains a
functioning gene to correct the effects of a disease causing mutation (YG, 2016). There are several
techniques for carrying out gene therapy, these include, gene augmentation, gene inhibition and the
killing off of specific cells.
Augmentation: Gene augmentation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The process aims to introduce a gene whose product either inhibits or interferes with the expression
of another gene. This therapy facilitates the elimination of the growth of disease related cells (YG,
2016).
Killing of specific cells suicide : This process is suitable for diseases which can be treated by
destroying certain groups of cells. The aim is to insert DNA into a diseased cell which causes
the cell to die. This can be achieved by inserting DNA containing a suicide gene that produces a
highly toxic product to kill the diseased cell or by inserting DNA which causes the expression of
a protein which marks the cells so that the diseased cells are attacked by the body s immune
system. This method must be targeted appropriately to avoid the death of normal functioning cells
and would be appropriate to use on a disease such as cancer (YG, 2016).
Currently, possible candidates for gene therapy include cancer, AIDS, cystic fibrosis, Parkinson s
and Alzheimer s diseases, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, cardiovascular disease and arthritis (AMA,
2016). This article aims to examine how gene therapy can be used on patients with cystic fibrosis as
well as evaluate the various ethical concerns that surround it.

background with planes of color used in the foreground and on objects to create space and depth of
perspective. Texture is used to create a tonal harmony devoid of tactile or sensual appeal, therefore
portraying volume.
However, Cezanne leaves little room for color and volume to play their great roles as light
diffuses to the balanced tints of ochre. Space is created by the absolute stillness of the piece
thereby affirming the painter as a great master of composition, color, and design. Further, the piece
features complex fields that create an abstraction by the artist s sensitive and repetitive
brushstrokes. Cezanne is portraying the complexity of man s visual perception ... Show more

The quill, writing materials, and journals are reminiscent of moral messages and the closed book
is a show of knowledge formerly held by the skull. The mature fruits depicted on the painting by
Paul Cezanne symbolize abundance and fertility, which is figuratively used to mean well being
and wellness. The flowers on the background mean folly and mortal sin of laziness (Platzman
2001, 116). The glasses are representative of vanity, as is the reflection shown on the still lifewith a
skull and writing quill. The empty glass is a symbol of death and fragility of human life. The

  • 3. Causes Of American Civil War There were many causes to the American Civil War. One Major cause of the Civil War was the Missouri Compromise. This was a cause because people from other states who were eligible to vote voted that missouri would be a slave state even though the people living in missouri wanted it to be a free state(The Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia 1). The Missouri Compromise incident also caused small battles like Bleeding Kansas(Causes of the Civil 1). One other major cause of the Civil War was the election of President Abraham Lincoln. The north wanted Lincoln to become President but the southern states hated the idea of Lincoln coming into office(The Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia 1). The south thought that Lincoln would take away their rights... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This battle took place in Fredericksburg, VA, December 1862(Woodworth 1). The union was not prepared. What happened after all of these battles took place? The united states changed a lot after the war. The union did not really change. The only difference was Lincoln was killed so a new president had to be elected(Reconstruction 1). The south had major changes. Their slaves were taken away and their plantations were burned(Reconstruction 1). Many southerners were left starving so many of them moved to the north(Reconstruction 1). The north also had to rebuild the things the south destroyed but it was more significant in the south(Guelzo 1). The reconstruction period lasted for almost 20 years(Guelzo 1). • 4. Narrative Essay Hurricane It was like we were a couple of high school lovers in heat, until the heat got too hot to handle. It was soon after a major category four hurricane dealt us a glancing blow as it rolled up the east coast of Florida that we decided to pack a little lunch and take a ride over to the beach. It had dropped fifteen degrees after the storm and we had the whole beach to ourselves as I laid out a blanket and sat down to enjoy the last few hours of sunlight. The wind was just cool enough to instigate some heavy petting and it wasn t long before we were thoroughly hot and bothered. We were like two teens in heat, the way we were grinding and kissing like it was something new, until she panted heatedly that I was going to have a wet spot on my shorts... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And there we were, nekkid and unafraid, her like the lion tamer under me, cracking the whip of lust and need, imploring that I don t stop , and in fact harder, harder, harder! . I literally rammed my head into a wall as my pelvis crushed her clit between us and she screamed that she was coming. There was applause and hoots of appreciation just off in the dusk of the night, but I couldn t care less, and either could she, as she pleaded for me to come deep inside me and others expletives that were clearly used to motivate me further. She wrapped her arms around my neck and kissed me hard before breaking it to look down between our bodies and demanded fuck me harder . I took a deep renewing breath and looked too as we watched my thick glistening cock piston in and out of her like we were going to explode. Until we did. Like two head on trains, we collided one last time, and it was my turn to exclaim. I howled like an American werewolf and to more applause and chants for an encore, to which she blushed and pulled me down on top of her, when we all of a sudden we became shy, but not of the least embarrassed. • 5. The Relation Between Premarital Cohabitation And Divorce... The Relation Between Premarital Cohabitation and Divorce Rates Shalene Gerritsen University of Nebraska Introduction to Sociological Research November 18, 2014 Many couples find themselves cohabiting today because it is cheaper and more convenient while others take it as a step forward in their committed relationships. Regardless of reason cohabiting has become a union of choice. In recent years cohabitation has transformed from an act of deviance to a norm in many societies. We will be focusing on how time and social change determines cohabitation and divorce. LITERATURE REVIEW There have been many conflicting studies on whether there is a clear relation between premarital cohabitation and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Waal (2008) predicts that there will be 2.93m cohabiting couples by 2021 (p. 47). This would be a 90% increase in the past 25 years. Cohabiting couples have become more common due to the increase in social acceptance. An article in the New York Times (2012) contributes the increase to the sexual revolution and the availability of birth control. Theory and Research Question The relation between cohabitation and divorce rates can also be explained through the use of Deviance. Deviance is a theory in which a society views an action as unacceptable (William and Thorton 2014). Cohabitation has transferred from being deviant to a social norm in past years. Those who cohabit are no longer a minority. For this reason the Deviance Theory is a possible explanation as to why there has been a shift in the relation between premarital cohabitation and divorce rates. We question the relation between premarital cohabitation and divorce. From looking at literature regarding this question I hypothesize that time and social change determines cohabitation and divorce. Methods. The qualitative method proposed for gathering data is a longitudinal cohort study. Participants in the study include couples who have been married in the year 2015. The participants will include 20 couples from each of the 50 states. 10 of the couples will have cohabited prior to marriage ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Mya Renaissance Video Analysis Something I found particularly interesting in the Mya Renaissance video was the architecture that the Mayans created. The structures that they built were beautiful. The structures were the largest structures outside ancient Egypt at the time. It amazes me that they can build structures so vast without the equipment that we have today. It also is unbelievable that many of these structures are still standing today because of how well they were built. It was also interesting to me how the cities were laid out according to the cardinal directions of Mayan belief. The structures were created for specific events and used as markers for the Mayans. • 7. Surrealism And The Art Of Salvador Dali Salvador Dali is one of the most famous surrealist artists. His artwork is fascinating to look at and analyze. All of his work is very imaginative, rendered at a high level of realism, and is filled with extensive symbolism. First I will talk about the history of Surrealism, then how Dali studied and admired Sigmund Freuds theories which greatly influenced his art, he used Sigmund Freud s psychoanalytic theory of dreaminterpretation to invent a technique for his work, and then using this technique he painted his bizarre dreams. Andre Breton founded the Surrealist movement in 1924 with his Manifesto of Surrealism which argued that art can benefit from an understanding of the Freudian dreamscape. His definitions of Surrealism were, Dictionary: Surrealism, n. Pure psychic automatism, by which one proposes to express, either verbally, in writing, or by any other manner, the real functioning of thought. Dictation of thought in the absence of all control exercised by reason, outside of all aesthetic and moral preoccupation. Encyclopedia: Surrealism. Philosophy. Surrealism is based on the belief in the superior reality of certain forms of previously neglected associations, in the omnipotence of dream, in the disinterested play of thought. It tends to ruin once and for all other psychic mechanisms and to substitute itself for them in solving all the principal problems of life (Breton, 1924). A metropolitan area is a region that consists of a densely populated urban core and its less populated surrounding areas that are economically and socially linked to it. The criteria of defining metropolitan areas changed in 2003. Smaller MSAs remained the same, but larger metropolitan areas, previously referred to as consolidated metropolitan statistical areas (CMSAs) are now defined as MSAs (see figure 1). Different portions of CMSAs, previously referred to as primary metropolitan statistical areas (PMSAs), have been redefined and reconfigured as metropolitan divisions. For example, the old New York CMSA consisted of eleven counties in two states and four PMSAs: New York PMSA, Nassau Suffolk PMSA, Dutchess County PMSA and Newburgh, NY PA PMSA (see figure 2). The current New York MSA consists of twenty three counties in three states and four metropolitan divisions. Metropolitan divisions do not perfectly substitute for PMSAs, as they have different size thresholds (2.5 million vs. 1 million population), but they come as close to representing homogenous units as we can come with current census geography. • 9. The Death Of The Pregnancy Test Essay Many women find themselves in situations that leave them with an unwanted pregnancy and abort their baby. The cause of abortion could simply be a birth control failure, from rape or incest, inability to take care of the child, or in most cases, pressure from others. Whatever the case may be, these women have chosen to get rid of their child, without thinking of the consequences after it is done. After a mother chooses to abort her baby, she will be greatly affected psychologically and could possibly change her and her future family s life forever. Before the procedure is done, the mother of the child is positive about her decision, unaware of the mental experiences she will be going through. Nonetheless, after the operation is done, the mother will experience personal shame that could result in repressed grief, causing serious problems. The anxiety over the unwanted pregnancy; the drama of the pregnancy test; often, the difficulty of making the decision, then the waiting before the abortion can take place; perhaps protesters in front of the clinic; the abortion clinic waiting room, crowded perhaps with other emotional women and men; the abortion itself the doctors and nurses, the stirrups, the vacuum or other machinery then the recovery room; the pain and bleeding afterward. All these dramatic experiences are likely to provide her with indelible memories. A woman may return to them and relive them over and over. • 20. Analysis Of `` Savage Inequalities `` By Jonathan Kozol Essay Martin Luther once said, When schools flourish, all flourishes. Schools are the institutions where students foundations for lifelong success are built. One would think, or at least hope, that sixty years after the Brown v. Board of Education decision, all schools in America would be flourishing or near flourishing. How wonderful would it be, if politicians and other people in power realized how true Martin Luther s words were. Unfortunately, this is not the case. As Jonathan Kozol explicitly depicts in his 1991 novel, Savage Inequalities, inequality in American public schools still exists despite segregation being outlawed. Even though this book was written twenty five years ago, it still applies to this day. There are many schools in America that are still segregated, and the complete opposite of flourishing. This is due to one main reason: inadequate funding. There is a tremendous amount of inequality in funding between the poor, cityschools, and the affluent, suburban schools. Kozol explores these various schools in his novel, and demonstrates how by underfunding schools that are in dire need of funds, we are essentially setting up our future generations for failure. We are inhibiting them from reaching their potentials and showcasing their talents. We ourselves are ripping their chances of a bright future out of their hands. Good deeds, when reified into memories can be held up to be replicated, or possibly surpassed in the future. Yet the process of memorialisation is often contested, for the formation of memory can only occur in retrospect on behalf of someone or something. Public commemoration is a difficult process, as it simplifies and condenses complex stories at the cost of omitting others. Thus, spaces of remembrance can become spaces of contestation, and memory entails political risk. Memory presents a crucial tension in the network of ideas and action, which are both public and private. It is not only central to improving the frailty of human affairs, it is a dauntingly complex process weaved with intrinsically personal reflections, which, leads us to the fundamental paradox of memory. Memory is crucial to the public realm, but it originates within. Furthermore, the modern age multiplies spaces of remembrance presenting an unfettered opportunity to improve the frailty of human affairs. Yet, the contestation of memories such as those in war have often been internalised, and thus refuted on a deeply personal level to challenge mourning is viewed as perverse act of disrespectful to the ... For our group, the decision was made to observe a women s basketball game and the process of how to effectively keep the event functioning. The issue being gun control and how guns affect and/or end lives, the even bigger issue though is the issue of how people can or can not write about gun control to educate the public. First we see ethos expressed to stop gun control in Pros/Cons: Gun Legislation through the sentence, We, along with our fellow plaintiffs, were hopeful for a more favorable decision from the 2nd Circuit, but we are not surprised that this decision was handed down from this level, said Scott Wilson, president of the Connecticut Citizens Defense League. The Invention Of Dna Testing Improper forensics, bad lawyering, snitches, unqualified experts, eye witness misidentification, false confessions, and mishandled evidence are all just a few reasons for wrongful convictions in the justice system. However, the authors of Actual Innocence: When Justice Goes Wrong and How to Make it Right, discuss how DNA is a main factor into actually innocent people. Throughout this book we learn stories about those who were wrongfully convicted and later proven guilty for reasons such as DNA testing. While this proves to us that not everyone convicted is guilty, it points out many other errors in the criminal justicesystem as well. The beginning chapters of the book discuss the invention of DNA testing as well as the unreliability of eye witness testimony. As of 2003, the authors mention that thirty two states had post convictionDNA testing statutes with legislation pending in ten others (Dwyer 352). This allows testing when there is such DNA evidence relating to the crimeavailable. More than two thirds of the 130 post conviction DNA exonerations in the United States involved mistaken eye witness identifications (Dwyer 353). This is because witnesses are encouraged to pick which participant compares best to the image they have in their head even though the true perpetrator may not be present. Gene technology refers the range of activities concerned with understanding gene expression, taking advantage of natural genetic variation, modifying genes and transferring genes to new hosts. A specific example of genetechnology is Gene Therapy. This term refers to the process of introducing DNAinto a patient to treat a genetic disease. The new DNA contains a functioning gene to correct the effects of a disease causing mutation (YG, 2016). There are several techniques for carrying out gene therapy, these include, gene augmentation, gene inhibition and the killing off of specific cells. Augmentation: Gene augmentation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The process aims to introduce a gene whose product either inhibits or interferes with the expression of another gene. This therapy facilitates the elimination of the growth of disease related cells (YG, 2016). Killing of specific cells suicide : This process is suitable for diseases which can be treated by destroying certain groups of cells. The aim is to insert DNA into a diseased cell which causes the cell to die. This can be achieved by inserting DNA containing a suicide gene that produces a highly toxic product to kill the diseased cell or by inserting DNA which causes the expression of a protein which marks the cells so that the diseased cells are attacked by the body s immune system. This method must be targeted appropriately to avoid the death of normal functioning cells and would be appropriate to use on a disease such as cancer (YG, 2016). Currently, possible candidates for gene therapy include cancer, AIDS, cystic fibrosis, Parkinson s and Alzheimer s diseases, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, cardiovascular disease and arthritis (AMA, 2016). This article aims to examine how gene therapy can be used on patients with cystic fibrosis as well as evaluate the various ethical concerns that surround it. The piece features a skull, fruits, and a piece of white cloth placed on a table. It takes the vanitas genre of art, done using oil on canvas measuring 65.4 cm by 54.3 cm which is exhibited at the Barnes Foundation, Merion, Pennsylvania, USA (Lindsay 1969, 23). This work represents a powerful and essential link between the materialistic artistic movement of Expressionism and the ephemeral features of Impressionism. The paintingfeatures a dark background with planes of color used in the foreground and on objects to create space and depth of perspective. Texture is used to create a tonal harmony devoid of tactile or sensual appeal, therefore portraying volume. However, Cezanne leaves little room for color and volume to play their great roles as light diffuses to the balanced tints of ochre.
