Definition Essay About Love
What is Love? Love is an intense felling of deep affection to someone or something. Everybody falls
in love at one time or another, it might be with people, animal, or object. You can rarely define love
because, everybody experiences It differently, one might have a love for animals and other might have
love for objects. However there are many different meanings of love. There is a romantic love which
is intimate and sexual between two people. There is a love between two friends, parents and children.
When we talk about love the first thing that comes to our mind is romantic love. when you are in love
you always want to be with them and think about them all the time. Romantic love is not just about
intimate and sexual. Its also about caring

Gloria Anzaldua s Poem To Live In Borderlands Means You
The poem to live in borderlands means you written by a Chicana woman, Gloria Anzaldua, who was
raised around the U.S. and Mexican borderlands, an area where there are millions of people that have
not quite defined their actual culture or identity (Martinez 154). The poem explains the author s pride
of different elements such as race, politics and culture. Throughout the poem the author gives several
descriptions and manly focuses on not only herself living in a borderland, but also the way the border
includes other human beings composed of a unique combination of various races. Anzaldua defines
her life as a mestiza like being a person who transcends borders, and as having no sense of belonging.
She also claims to be transcending the cultures, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is a powerful poem that exposes readers to a new paradigm (Michael 4). The author also expresses
what mentality women have, in wanting to be in several cultures simultaneously. In the first line of the
poem, Anzaldúa, clearly states that a woman can not be defined as belonging to one race or another.
The poem talks about how different people see their own racial identity. Identity is important and
relevant because of how we view today s notion of real Americans. The United States is a fairly young
country in comparison to other countries. Families in the United States have been around for several
generations, and we know that people will often ask themselves where their roots actually come from,
and are willing to learn more about themselves. Intermarriages have caused people to have different
identities or ethnicities such as Chicano, mestizo, Hispanic and several others (Holmgren 6). As we
know, there are many cultures in the world, and in countries like the United States and Mexico people
will often wonder where their family comes from and wil start to think that their culture makes them
different to other people. Anzaldua makes us realize that these thoughts are not really true and that no
matter what culture they are from, everyone will always be the

Door Openers
What is the Difference Between Belt, Screw and Chain Drive Garage Door Openers Are you
considering automating your garage door in Dallas? There are three standard types of garage door
openers to consider. These are: 1. Chain drive garage door openers As the name suggests, these
openers employ the use of a chain in the opening mechanism of the door. The chain attaches to the
metal trolley in a similar way as a chain on a bicycle. Later models of the chain driven doors get their
power from DC motors. 2. Belt driven openers These models are similar in operation to the chain
driven models. However, a reinforced belt replaces the chain. This belt pulls and pushes the trolley.
Belts used in these doors are made of various strong materials including ... Show more content on

The belt used in this version eliminates any metal on metal contact. This reduces the amount of sound
or vibration associated with the operation of the door. Belt driven openers however, cost much more
than other types of openers. They therefore require a large investment up front for their purchase and
installation. 2. Chain driven openers These are the most economical choice for garage door openers.
They are also one of the most dependable models available. The main disadvantage of using chain
driven openers is that they produce a lot of noise during the operation of the door especially if the
garage is attached to the rest of the house. Later versions that use DC motors incorporate soft start and
stop technology. This has made them much quieter than the older versions. 3. Screw driven openers
These openers require the least amount of maintenance as they have few moving parts. They also
provide fairly quiet operation as they feature tracks lined with plastic to reduce the noise. They are,
however, not suitable for areas that experience large variations in temperature between summer and
winter. They tend to run into a lot of trouble when installed in these regions. However, manufacturers
continue to make improvements on these

Social Observation Assignment
Observation Assignment Social interaction? Many individuals have probably heard that term before at
least once in their lifetime. Social interaction is really important for researchers and sociologist to seek
the important factors of physical health of individuals. I recently went on a observation assignment to
a nearby creamery called Baskin Robbins were a variety of individuals and families tend to appear on
a warm day. This would be rather the perfect spot in my mind to seek the behavior of individuals and
how they seem to interact around other individuals around them. I decided to go visit the creamery on
a usual warm afternoon knowing that the location would be a hotspot for families, friends, and
individuals to attend to. Once, I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

of the individuals who came to get some more ice cream. One thing that was clearly noticeable was
that the female employees still had some energy and smiles attending families and others. Many
families stayed and talked about which person ordered the best ice cream flavor and just seemed
happy spending time with their loved ones. Others such as single individuals walked right out after
their order. A few young couples stayed around to laugh and joke around then later left. Baskins
Robbins that afternoon seemed more of a family and friend gathering to sit and enjoy being around
their loved ones. The most interesting part of my observation was observing how the attitudes of
people change from being pretty impatient to having a great time with their family after the long wait.
It seems to me like many individuals don t have much patience in having to wait but are willing to put
up for it to have some quality time with their friends and family. I felt much like a researcher when I
walked up to the line of Baskin Robbins taking observation notes immediately. It was a really
interesting experience observing others around me knowing I wasn t any different than they were.

Comparing The Iliad And The Aeneid
Homer once said, Two urns on Jove s high throne have ever stood, the source of evil one, and one of
good; from thence the cup of mortal man he fills, blessings to these, to those distributes ills; to most he
mingles both. What the great philosopher is establishing is that the source of good and evil are the
same while being different. Reminiscent of how The Iliad and the Aeneid are both epic poems that
share similarities such as the setting, the reoccurring motif of gods, as well as aspects like the two
heroes and the goals to be reached by the plot.
When comparing the similarities between the two epics, The Iliad and the Aeneid, one of the most
obvious is the setting of which they each take place. They are a part of the same era, one where the
world was chaotic and still needed the frivolous gods to meddle. The Trojan War with its destructive
power was a significant setting in both poems and led to the development of each respective plot. In
the face of the dreads of the warfare in both epics, even the most powerful of warriors will experience
fear, and the poets tell the audience details that both armies regret that the war ever began. The Iliad
took place during the actual war. It is very much centralized around the occurrences of the war.
Though the status of fighting a war is glorified, the men can be seen dying ghastly deaths; women
becoming enslaved and shamed, and families torn apart. Ah, put no faith in anything the will of the
gods opposes! See, Priam s virgin

Technology s Impact On Healthcare
It s the twelfth of April 2017. A nursing student sits inside an average home. The lights are brightly lit.
A computer sits atop the student s lap. A television is across the room. A cellular phone is nearby. In
the kitchen there are many appliances. These are everyday pieces of technology present these days.
Technology is defined as the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical
means and their interrelation with life, society, and the environment, drawing upon such subjects as
industrial arts, engineering, applied science, and pure science. (Dictionary)

General Motors Recall Crisis Essay
Introduction The beginning of the General Motors recall crisis was the alleged failure by the company
to recall its faulty cars on time, despite having known about the ignition switch problem, which
persisted over a decade. The aforementioned design flaw in over a million vehicles, which caused
hundreds of fatalities, was well known by the company s management, before the decision to recall
the faulty vehicles. Ethical issues relate to the recall crisis concern GM s favoring cover up over legal
considerations on customer safety. Concisely, the company concealed defects from the top
management, dealers, and the public, while the car users crashed the cars and died from problems that
General Motors could have fixed. This paper will focus on the issues surrounding the General Motors

absence of business integrity is the fundamental cause of the crisis that rocked General Motors. It is of
utmost importance for the company to foster high levels of business ethics as part of its social
responsibility and to ensure that quality of products and safety of users are among top priorities in its
core priorities. Similar to other companies that have faced such a crisis, GM is learning the social

Organic Farming Chapter Summary
This chapter was about the struggle of living with locally grown food and cloth diapers. Colin Beavan
got in touch with some foodies and asked what they did for eating environmentally conscience. And
Colin and his wife found other activities to do during their normal TV time, like preparing ingredients
for their meals and spending time with their friends. Colin even went as far as to visit the farm that he
gets his milk from just to see if the farmer s ideals lined up with his.
This chapter brought up a good point about the antibiotics regulations for organic farming. As
someone who was once a member of 4 H if you are planning on raising market animals the healthier
the animal is the better. So when the USDA set the no antibiotics standard for market animals to be
considered organic is unrealistic because in order to have a shot at raising healthy animals they need to
get shots to keep them from getting sick. And this doesn t just apply to 4 H, it applies to commercial
farms too and that s why some of them treat their animals so badly. Commercial farms try to follow
the USDA rules but aren t making enough money to keep their animals healthy so when they get sick
the animals are hurriedly pushed to get well without the use of vet care, because that s money that they
could use to buy more animals instead of trying to care for the ones they have. This doesn t condone
the methods the commercial farms use but it is easier to care for the animals better when you are a 4 H
er and raising 1 3 animals per year as opposed to a factory farm raising 60 70 animals per year.

Myth In The Viking World
In the Viking world the earth is a circle of land surrounded by the ocean where the World Serpent is.
In the center of the land is a giant tree which is the World Ash, or Yggdrasil. At the tree there is a
messenger squirrel, and a goat that produces mead instead of milk. You have Asgard, in the heavens,
where the Aesir and Vanir reside, but the Vanir may also go to Vanaheim, which is beneath the Earth.
In the trees roots you have Jotunheim where the giants dwell. Also you would find the underworld
there which is ruled by Hel. The world started out in an abyss, until layers of ice and sparks of fire
created the first giants and humans. There was a giant cow that licked salty ice blocks until the three

Gender Transition Is An Intelligible And Recognizable Rite...
Gender transition makes for a provocative quilting point as it shapes Western social conventions
regarding binary gender identities into an intelligible and recognizable rite of passage. Originally
theorized by anthropologist Arnold Van Gennep (date), rites of passage configure social status changes
into a visible tripartite process denoted by a starting point of separation, followed by a transitional (or
liminal) stage, and concluding with a reinstallation back into society under the new station (CITE).
While the process is undertaken by, and therefore has been ostensibly created for, the individual
initiate, rites of passage are constituted and maintained by the State, which institutionally signifies
passage from one phase of the process to another. Each gradation in the case of gender transition, the
individual s divorce from their prior status as a recognizable man or woman , the mediated liminal
state that includes hormone replacement therapy, real life test, ongoing therapeutic consultation,
surgical remedies, and the re aggregation (Turner 363) noted through post operative letters and/or
changed government documents is orchestrated, measured and controlled. The expected and rewarded
end result is for the transgender individual to be recognized as analogous as cisgender. In a binary
gendered society, such passing defines a successful gendered rite of passage; conversely, to be trans is
to located betwixt and between (Turner 1969) the dominant gender

Google Glass Essay
Google Glass is without a doubt a very strong and innovative product with a high potential for growth.
However, following the initial launch, negative perceptions of these augmented reality glasses gave
view to a few major issues holding them back from success. Many of these problems occurred
primarily due to lack of security and privacy. Concerns during the initial release were caused by the
fact that the wearer can film or take pictures with out the subject(s) knowing or giving consent. As a
result, negative consequences, such as speculation against Google, along with customer assault and
isolation began to make face. Customers were targeted and harassed for supporting the product, which
worked to both stunt market growth, and lower Google s reputation. Not soon after, social media sites
took wind of the escalating situation and assisted in a major backlash against the new product.
Overall, the failure of the Google Glass explorer program directly resulted from the prevalence of
these unforeseen privacy issues. Removing the camera feature from the device would ultimately
eradicate that concern, while they would continue to provide all the other functions that wearables are
known for. Unfortunately, this action would diminish the devices value, market reaction would
initially be negative, and ultimately sales may not take off as planned. Without the ability to quickly
snap a photo or video, the value proposition of convenience is partially eliminated, and consumer

Compare And Contrast World War Two Experiments
Prisoners of War have been tortured in many ways. Like, how the Japanese used to experiment on
Chinese and Koreans. During World War II, prisoners of war have been tortured, and experimented
on. Back then, people even have a place to design and test out experiments, they call it Unit 731 .
During World War II, Prisoners of War were tortured by many different ways, just like how the boys in
Lord of the Flies were tortured by their own captivity while on the island. Prisoners of war (POW)
were experimented in many different ways. One way they have been experimented was when the
Japanese tested out biological weapons on multiple prisoners of war. Most of the individual used for
the experiments were Chinese and Korean. (histclo,1). This shows that prisoners of war were being
experimented on and how they were being experimented during World Ward II. This connects to Lord
of the Flies because the boys were tortured and experimented on by the beast . On page 207, the beast
says, I m warning you. I m going to get angry.... So don t try it on, my poor misguided boy, or else

or else he would get hurt. This also shows that the beast has power over Simon, since Simon

What Is The Difference Between Monet s Garden And Picasso...
Differences between Two Famous Artists Artwork
Artwork could be defined as a universal language that can carry ideas and emotions of an artist toward
audiences via a particular narrative. Presently, there are many memorable art pieces from various
artists. Claude Monet and Pablo Picasso have become prominent from their unique styles of artwork,
which conveys a profound feeling through basic elements of art, such as the use of color and a
narrative. Although two of them are highly notable for art, there are four differences between Monet s
garden and Picasso s garden, which are artist s background information, technique, inspiration and
meaning.
The first difference between Monet s garden and Picasso s garden is artist s background information.
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Meaning is an explanation that uses to describe an emotion in the scene, which leads the audience to a
better interpretation of a narrative in the painting. Monet uses a quick painted style to portray reality,
which, in this case, is a collective joy of intimate friends in a garden (Walton, 2007). In the
foreground, there is a graceful woman sitting under the tree and smiling at the sounds of her two
friends flirting behind her. A man and a woman seem to share a flirtatious conversation as the woman
appears a pink flush on her cheeks while answering the man s question, covering her face with a
bouquet of flowers in her hands, and sneakily looking at the man s face. Another woman, young and
innocent, staying in the background, is delightfully admiring the flower bushes around her with a
beaming smile appeared on her lips. She seems to be one of the nature lovers who can solely spend
most of her time outdoor amid the flower garden. The feelings of these three people are all freshened
up by the delightful talk and the support of natural surrounding around them. On the contrary, Picasso
prefers a sharp painting style represented in geometric shapes, such as triangle, rectangle or oval,
which may lead audiences to have a profound feeling ( Pablo Picasso, 2009). Considering the painting
named Seated woman in a garden , Picasso captures a moment of a woman sitting alone in a spacious
garden. Perhaps the woman is waiting for her lover at the appointment; however, as she waits longer
she does not seem to see her love, therefore appearing gloomy features. In addition, the nature around
her seems to reciprocate her grief by appearing leaves in a dull tone of green color instead of the
freshly light green as revealed in the Monet s garden. Thus, the painting of Monet is more appealing
due to the delightful story of lively friends, a pleasant couple, and a nature lover, which many

Migrant Workers and Xenophobia
In addition, the continued increase of the migrant workers in Singapore might lead to xenophobia in
the country. According to Khan, Rola and Ruxandra migrant workers continue to suffer economic
prejudice because government employment policies operate in favor of national workers (1). In
Singapore, migrant workers make up a larger percentage of the population thereby leading to
competition over employment with the natives. As such, the possibility of xenophobia prevailing in
Singapore is high. This is because competition between natives and foreigners over meager economic
resources has always led to xenophobia in many other countries. For example, xenophobia has been a
problem in South Africa because the residents accuse African immigrants from the horn of Africa for
stealing their jobs (Slier, para. 3). The xenophobia problems come from unemployed South Africans.
Nonetheless, most of the immigrants struggle to earn a living in the same way the natives do but the
natives view them as competitors. For instance, most successful immigrant groups are Somalis. The
reason for the success of the Somalis is their entrepreneurial skills as well as their strong intra ethnic
ties that resemble those of the Indians. Each slum has an isolated Somali neighborhood where most
Somali refugees live and work (Abdi, para. 7). Nonetheless, most Somali refugees and immigrants
face insecurity from the local vigilante groups and gangs because they view them as aliens. However,

Monica Ferrell a renowned poet and novelist has written works such as, Of the Irresoubleness of
Diamonds, Harmless as Recalled by a Fairy Tale, Gerburt des Monica kinds and Anatomy which
employ grammatical issues throughout them. She uses attributive adjectives, non finite verb strings,
active voice and the known new contract to given an in depth analysis of her poems which she uses
pathos to convey her emotions. By incorporating these grammatical issues into her work, Ferrell
intends to develop a clear and sharp image to ignite the imagination of her readers. In this semester
project, I will present various examples where Ferrell integrates these grammatical concepts and

Non finite verb strings do not have tense, they can create an independent clause (pg.39). Their forms
do not indicate person, number or tense. Non finite verbs can be found in forms such as participles,
infinitives and gerunds. Participles are Gerunds are ing verb forms which can fill nominal slots and
they are not considered to be nouns (pg.94). In one example of her poem, Harmless, as Recalled by a
Fairy Tale, she describes After our rendezvous this the last word he said, Waving to me as the train
pulled away from the station (1 2), the word waving is a non finite verb, in fact it is also a gerund. One
of the ways to distinguish it as a gerund is because there is an ing attached to the end of the word. In
another example she asserts, Made my people short of breath, I heard them wheezing (13), the non
finite verb in this sentence is the word wheezing. The word wheezing is a present participle which you
can tell by the ing attached at the end of the word. In addition, to this example is, Of his departed face
like a treasure map, over his words hanging in the air like the scrolls of Alexandria, had I not been
consensual, like a free agent, (16 17), the non finite verbs present here in this sentence are departed
and hanging. The word departed is a non finite verb since it is a past participle because there is an ed
added at the end and this word can also be used as an

The Effects Of Global Finance Crisis On Brazil s Economy
The Effects of Global Finance Crisis 2008 2009 on Brazil s Economy
While researching written articles about the effects of global finance crisis 2008 2009 on Brazil s
economy, I found numerous financial researchers that had published documentations in reference to
the impact on the Brazil economy. In addition, the banks and government interactions to the global
finance crisis 2008 2009, particularly research papers, financial journals, newspapers, pamphlets, and
brochures. The Brazil government policies deal with a less openness, and its emerging economy
enabled the country finance regulators the ability to initiate moderate banking countering measures to
the crisis. These actions taken by the Brazilian government minimized the long term impacts of the
global finance crisis 2008 2009 compared to more developed nations. My goals in this paper, is to
explore the Brazil banking finance reactions, and government regulation policies that led to mitigating
the impact of the global financial crisis of 2008 2009.
To achieve this goal, I analyzed the Brazil banking sector response to the global financial crisis effect
due to the tightening of credit and higher exchange rate. Next, I researched the impacts on the
Brazilian economy affecting its imports and exports. Thirdly, impacts on the Brazil s currency, and
lastly a conclusion on the actions and impacts of the Brazil response to the financial crisis. I also
include an appendix after the Works Cited that contains images of the

International market segmentation is the dividing of market into segments, this allow marketers to
effectively determine whether business can thrive in a particular area. Segmentation is based on four
factor namely geographical, psychographic, demographic and lastly behavioral segmentation.
Geographical segmentation refers to grouping markets geographically such as nations, states or cities.
Psychographic segmentation is the dividing of buyers into groups based on lifestyle or social
class/status. Demographic segmentation uses factors like age, gender, occupation and etc to separate
markets into groups. Last but not least, behavioral segmentation, this kind of segmentation divides
buyer into groups by their knowledge about particular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bentley uses different kinds of market segmentation to segment their international market. By using
variables like nation s economic development and gross domestic product, markets like United States,
UK and Europe are recognized and had been Bentley s traditional market. Those markets gave Bentley
a lot of sales especially during the economic boom in the 80s. As sales slowly declined in the 90s,
Bentley had a hard time keeping up. That leads to a major investment in facility, new product
development and brand repositioning. As sales drop again in 2008, Bentley began to realize that their
use of variables for market segmentation like age, education, gender and etc is not how the market
behave, with the increasing buying power of the rich from BRIC. This force them to segment market
based on number of sales in that market and not based on developed or developing nations like they
used to. This results in targeting market that are growing, despite those market have low per capita
income, but the buying power of consumers in those market is the greatest. Young consumers in
economically growing nations are being targeted. As they are young and less educated, they would
like to possess branded things as a sign of their social class and since Bentley is a strong brand which
comes along with luxury design and innovative technology, there is no doubt

Examples Of Tragic Flaw In Hamlet
Hamlet Essay Paper A fatal flaw refers to the key element in the precipitous decline of a plan or
person. It is an event that could cause an unexpected problem and prevent an opportunity from
accomplishing its goals and objectives. Fatal flaws can be associated with assumptions which are
difficult to establish. In literature, fatal flaw is associated with a protagonist who has a serious
character flaw which leads to their downfall. (Evans, 158). In the play Hamlet, Hamlet s tragic flaw is
his heart. He is a very clever person because he would make devious plans on finding out if King
Claudius murdered his father or not. He becomes hesitant in carrying out revenge on King Claudius
because Hamlet lacks willpower and passion. His incapability to act is indeed the tragic flaw. He had
an opportunity to kill King Claudius when praying in his chamber but he made excuses as to why he
could not destroy him. This indecisiveness leads to his downfall. He again is sent to England by
Claudius where he goes through many ordeals before his flaws lead to Claudius, Gertrude and his
death. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hamlet s procrastination brings in him a building anger that leads to Polonius killing. It outlines why
inability to perform is the tragic flaw of character. First, Hamlet s procrastination leads to premature
deaths of some characters throughout. In a different scene Hamlet hears noises from behind curtains.
He immediately thought it was Claudius who was spying, Hamlet passed the sword through the
curtains and stabbed Polonius who falls and dies. Hamlet s procrastination leads to this because his
emotions were built up so when he hears slightest things that might be Claudius he violently reacts
which is not a good thing because Polonius death leads to two different events that eventually cause
other characters to die. (Kliman,

Emphasizing Too Much on the SAT
I was in trouble. The first analogies were pretty straightforward along the lines of leopard is to spotted
as zebra is too striped but now I was in the tall weeds of nuance. Kangaroo is to marsupial as the giant
squid is to I don t know, maybe D) cephalopod? (Boylan). As we all know, tests vary from
straightforward, to mildly difficult, to just unforgiving and torture for the mind, but this is life and
whether people like it or not, everybody has to take a test in their academic career. In specific, the
quote at the start of the paragraph shows the author of Save Us From the SAT, explaining to the reader
her struggles when she took the SAT or Scholastic Assessment Test. But not to worry because College
Board announced in late March that they will be redesigning the SAT to make it, as they say, more
high school oriented. The way the SAT is being changed is by making the essay optional, taking out
the odd and unusual vocabulary words and replacing them with words that people use day to day life,
allowing it to be taken on a computer, and most importantly not penalizing the test taker for getting
the wrong answer. This all sounds fantastic, but there is one problem and that is that the new exam
will be put into use in 2016. That is my problem, why would they make people suffer and make the
test only available until 2016. In my opinion, College Board should speed up the process of making
the new SAT in order for other people to benefit from the changes. Many people

Characteristics Of Drunk Driving
Drunk Driving
Although situations differ and each person is unique, some common traits have been identified among
drunk drivers. In the study personality traits and mental health of severe drunk drivers in Sweden , 162
Swedish DUI offenders of all ages were studied to find links in psychological factors and
characteristics. There are a wide variety of characteristics common among DUI offenders which are
discussed, including: anxiety, depression, inhibition, low assertiveness, neuroticism and introversion .
There is also a more specific personality type found, typically more antisocial, among repeat DUI
offenders. It is also common for offenders to use drinking as a coping mechanism, not necessarily for
social or enjoyment reasons, when they are antisocial in nature and have a father with a history of
alcoholism. Offenders who begin drinking at an earlier age for thrills and fun are more likely to be
antisocial later in their lives. The majority of the sample, 72%, came from what is considered more
normal circumstances. This group was older when they began drinking, came from families without a
history of alcoholism, were relatively well behaved as children, were not as physically and
emotionally affected by alcohol when compared with the rest of the study, and had the less emotional
complications, such as anxiety and depression. The smaller portion of the sample, 28%, comes from

Global Warming is False Essay
A Flawed Opinion
Whenever someone thinks of CO2, they think of global warming. They are reminded of Al Gore and
his stance on global warming and they automatically think it is true. He has a lot of evidence to back
up his theory about how global warming exists and that it is the reason animals are going extinct and
also why the climate is changing. Well these facts are wrong and there is evidence to prove it. Global
warming is not real and the Earth might even be in a cooling period. There so many reasons to blame
people for the epidemic of this false global warming. CO2, a naturally produced gas absorbed by
oceans and trees could not be the reason, so what could? Well, nothing can, none of man s efforts to

People assume that just because there are clouds of smog over cities and industrial areas, that it is
because of all the carbon dioxide being released into the air. There is also type of smog called
photochemical smog which was recently discovered in the 1950 s. Aus e tute s The Chemistry of
Photochemical Smog refers to photochemical smog as, a type of air pollution produced when sunlight
acts upon motor vehicle exhaust gases to form harmful substances such as ozone (O3), aldehydes and
peroxyacetylnitrate (PAN). When some see this they think, wow, all the carbon being released from
the burning of fossil fuels in cars can lead to these toxic chemicals. That is where they are wrong. Aus
e tute also sets apart the type of gasses from cars that cause these chemicals. They explain that, Motor
vehicles produce exhaust gases containing oxides of nitrogen such as nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and
nitric oxide (NO). Again no carbon was the effect of a potentially harmful chemical byproduct. Later
in his article John Coleman explains some of the main components of our atmosphere. Most of the air
we breathe today is mostly nitrogen. He says in page 3 of his article that ...in front of my face contains
100,000 molecules of atmosphere. Of those 100,000, 38 are CO2: 38 out of a hundred thousand. That
makes it a trace component...how can this tiny trace disrupt the entire balance of the climate of Earth.

A Report On The Plane Detectors
The airplane was equipped with a smoke and fire detection and warning system to provide flight
crews with a visual indication in the cockpit of smoke or fire in the cargo compartments. The airplane
had a total of 26 smoke detectors. The main cargo compartment had 7 smoke detectors installed, and
in the 4 lower cargo compartments were 19 smoke detectors installed. During the preflight checks the
flight crew tested the operation of the smoke detectors by enabling their test function from the cockpit.
The flight engineer reported that no problems were encountered during the functional check of the
smoke detectors before the flight. The main cargo compartment smoke detector system consists of
detectors located in the compartment ceiling that were designed to provide a smoke indication
whenever the smoke around a detector reached a certain density. Five of the seven smoke detectors
were mounted on the left side of the ceiling at locations corresponding to cargo containers 2, 5, 8,
11/12, and 14. The other two detectors were mounted next to each other near the ceiling centerline at
locations corresponding to cargo containers 17 and 18. The smoke detector switch, which is located on
the flight engineer s upper panel, provides a means for testing the smoke detectors and the system
wiring. The smoke detector switch has the following labeled positions: OFF, NOR [normal], and 1
through 7. However, the system is not able to identify the specific sensor(s) detecting smoke in

Religion In Life Of Pi
In the novel Life of Pi, Pi Patel is a young boy who lives to tell a story to make you believe in god
(Martel 19). Pi believes in three faiths throughout his life and the novel, Hinduism, Christianity, and
Islam. He finds a common spirit behind each of these religions and they come together to guide Pi
through his journey and his life. Pi is faced with the challenge of staying alive on a lifeboat with a
Bengal tiger for months on end. He uses his faith and religion to guide him and keep him alive as well
as carrying this belief to his adulthood.
Pi is born as a Hindu, and it is the first of the three religions he comes to know and practice
throughout his life. When Pi was a child, his mother and aunt took him to a Hindu temple for the first
time. Pi did not really remember it, as he was so young, but something of the sultriness and mystery of
the place must have stayed with [him] (Martel 99). Pi s first religious experience was all sensory, but
left and profound impact on him and gave him his passion for religion. It brought foundation to his life
and led him to other religious imagination in Islam and Christianity later in the novel. Pi becomes very
passionate about Hinduism and the Hindu gods. He relates these gods to himself saying that Brahman
is no different from atman, the spiritual force within us, what you might call the soul (Martel 101).
This representation of one of the Hindu gods and what he symbolizes is carried out in Pi s actions on

The Dignity of Simplicity
The Dignity Of Simplicity
(The State Of Being True By Me)
I. Introduction
As Albert Einstein said, Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.
It s true; everything should be pared down as much as possible to fit our lives, but not beyond that
point or we have actually crossed the line into complication.
According to my friends, dignity is simplicity itself. You should just be yourself, the simplest you can
be. Simplicity is how you respect yourself from being simple. But for me when you talk about of
dignity ladies and gentlemen, we are also referring to purity. I believe that simplicity is at its best
when it is uninfluenced and that it speaks altruism and honesty. Simple in the sense that even mistakes

It works on the principle that twenty percent of what you do, accounts for eighty percent of the
importance you possess.
Simplicity is not just a noble character, but also an asset. It is a ladder to success. It makes one an
object of admiration which cannot be bought with money or lived easily. It is not as easy as it is
called. When you are without spot, you re not only a figure for admiration, but also a focus for
jealousy and hatred; and in no distant time, so many unwanted notes would be filed against you. You
need not be weary or worry because I have an assurance for you. In style, in character, in manner, in
all things, the supreme excellence is simplicity.
These, you ought to know; purity and simplicity are two wings with which man soars above the earth
and all temporary nature. It takes humility, reconvenes and willingness to do right no matter what it
takes. It is in big contrast with pretence. It saves you from the high cost of pretence, putting a front of
who you are not.
Elizabeth may have a quarrel with her friend; her simplicity would make her focus on solving the
problem rather than figuring out who is at fault. This is because the problem is her problem, not her
friend.
Another case in which simple living lifestyle is hard is when one gets short of ideas and will require
you to seek for advice. It is easy to ask from a superior and

Maggie a Girl of the Streets
Maggie: A Girl of the Streets, a novella written in 1893 by Stephen Crane, focuses on a poverty
stricken family living in the Bowery district of New York City. This novella is regarded as one of the
first works of naturalism in American literature and it helped shape the naturalistic principle that a
character is set into a world where there is no escape from one s biological heredity and the
circumstances that the characters find themselves in will dominate their behavior and deprive them of
individual responsibility. Throughout the story, the primary goal of the main characters is to escape the
lives they lead and to find more comfortable lives away from their current problems, which differs
from the romantic ideal that the main characters usually turn inwards to solve their problems. In the
opening stages of the novella, Maggie tries to escape her troubling life through her relationship with
Pete. As Maggie grows up, she becomes a beautiful girl who hates her life in Rum Alley. She sees Pete
as a savior who could lead her away from her poverty stricken life and bring her into the world of
leisure because he introduces her to popular music, dances, and dramas, all of which seem extravagant
to her. Maggie begins to note the well dressed women she meets. She [envies the women s] elegance
(11). Most of the melodramas that Maggie watches with Pete show the American dream of a person
going from rags to riches, which is a goal that she thinks Pete will help her in achieve.

Napa Valley History
Napa Valley is a region of California (United States), known for its wine production. Napa s name
derives from Wappo which is the name of the indigenous Indians who inhabited the region. The valley
is located in Napa County. Its length is 48 kilometres long, concentrates more than 300 wine
producers and represents, somehow, the new industry, not only because it produces excellent quality
wines, but because it has managed its merger with gastronomy and tourism. Each year about 8 million
people visit Napa Valley, making it one of the most popular tourist attractions in California (Gmelch et
al., 2011).
According to Paul Wagner , Janeen Olsen and Liz Thach (2010), despite the economic difficulties
worldwide, this market continues growing thanks to the increased demand from a new generation of
consumers who are keen on wine, the Millennial Generation. They are people of both sexes, aged
between 20 and 32 years, representing over 70 million of the US population. Paul Wagner points out:
They are young, have no fear and they were born with a computer under his arm and an MP3 in the
pocket consequently they do not accept established traditions about wine, they are adventurous and
wine is not just a drink, but a ticket to travel to other places, to other countries . ... Show more content

Identifying The Detection Of Human And Non Human Decisions
1 Abstract Present work targets the detection of humans in images and videos. Our focus is on
developing robust feature extraction algorithms that encode image regions as high dimensional feature
vectors that support high accuracy human/non human decisions. To test our feature sets we adopt a
relatively simple learning framework that uses linear Support Vector Machines to classify each
possible image region as a Human or as a non Human. This work makes three main contributions.
Firstly, we introduce grids of locally normalized Histograms of Oriented Gradients (HOG) as
descriptors for people detection in static images. The HOG descriptors are computed over dense and
overlapping grids of spatial blocks, with image gradient orientation features extracted at fixed
resolution and gathered into a high dimensional feature vector. They are designed to be robust to small
changes in image contour locations and directions, and significant changes in image illumination and
color. Secondly, the Human detection algorithm has to be executed on modern parallel platforms to
achieve the detection goal in real time. Thirdly, alert video monitoring station with an indication. It

Greek God Apollo Research Paper
Greek God Apollo Research Paper I guess darkness serves a purpose: to show us that there is
redemption through chaos. I believe in that. I think that s the basis of Greek mythology , Brendan
Fraser once said about the idea of all Greek Gods and myths. The people of ancient Greece would
look up to various gods, depending on what they were seeking. Apollo s name translates to strength ,
as he displayed this trait throughout his lifetime and had to be emotionally and physically stronger at
times for the people of Ancient Greece. Apollo was a man of trust who excelled and supported all of
the fine arts of the Greek civilization such as music, art, and poetry (God Apollo). One of the most
underestimated traits of Apollo was his healing powers, in which he helped out many Greeks in
desperate times, like the Trojan War (Cartwright). The Greek God Apollo was the most influential
among Greek people because of his recognition for music, the truth, and healing powers. Apollo was
born on the Greek island of Delios, from his parents Zeus and Leto (Regula). Zeus was the god of the
Olympians who also controlled lightning and thunder, and Leto was the goddess of motherhood
(Atsma). Apollo was a god who had a clear idea of what was right from wrong and lived with the idea
of that the Greek society could live under peace and harmony and follows the laws that were put into
motion, especially after the Trojan War (The Story of Apollo). Apollo demonstrated importance to the

Essay on The Scientific Revolution
The Scientific Revolution
A paradigm is one s world view in which one understands his place in it. Copernicus, Galileo,
Vesalius, Linnaeus, Leuwenhoek, and Newton were all medieval scientists, whose work changed
people s lives and the world. The way man viewed the universe in which he lived, the world of nature
that surrounded him and even his own physical anatomy changed right before him. Scientists, like
Galileo, disproved the heliocentric model as new instruments like the telescope were invented. The
way in which man saw his own physical anatomy changed when Andreas Vesalius completed detailed
studies of the human body. Due to these new, groundbreaking studies man began to view himself as
insignificant and as a machine. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Catholic Church believed that Galileo was mocking the Church approved ideas of Ptolemy and
their geocentric model. The Catholic Church sentenced Galileo to house arrest for the remainder of his
life, but his ideas of a heliocentric universe remained strong. This idea changed man s whole view of
his significance and place in the universe. Now, man was no longer the center of everything. Man was
not as important as he originally thought. This also meant that the Church was not preaching the truth,
and that the Bible and Aristotle were wrong. This raised questions about the validity of the rest of the
Bible and Aristotle s teachings.
During the Scientific Revolution, scientists developed ways to make more precise and more reliable
observations. The new scientists challenged the assumptions of past scientists. Zacharias Janssen
invented the first microscope. Anton van Leuwenhoek used a microscope to observe bacterium and
red blood cells. Galileo made the first thermometer using alcohol for measuring temperatures. Later, a
German physicist named Gabriel Fahrenheit developed the first thermometer using mercury. In 1655,
Evangelista Torricelli developed the barometer. The barometer measured atmospheric pressure. The
barometer proved that the weather could be predicted, and therefore God did not control the weather.
This new information disturbed the Catholic Church. Again, they were caught preaching the wrong
information(TWW ).Galileo proved Aristotle

  • 3. Gloria Anzaldua s Poem To Live In Borderlands Means You The poem to live in borderlands means you written by a Chicana woman, Gloria Anzaldua, who was raised around the U.S. and Mexican borderlands, an area where there are millions of people that have not quite defined their actual culture or identity (Martinez 154). The poem explains the author s pride of different elements such as race, politics and culture. Throughout the poem the author gives several descriptions and manly focuses on not only herself living in a borderland, but also the way the border includes other human beings composed of a unique combination of various races. Anzaldua defines her life as a mestiza like being a person who transcends borders, and as having no sense of belonging. She also claims to be transcending the cultures, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is a powerful poem that exposes readers to a new paradigm (Michael 4). The author also expresses what mentality women have, in wanting to be in several cultures simultaneously. In the first line of the poem, Anzaldúa, clearly states that a woman can not be defined as belonging to one race or another. The poem talks about how different people see their own racial identity. Identity is important and relevant because of how we view today s notion of real Americans. The United States is a fairly young country in comparison to other countries. Families in the United States have been around for several generations, and we know that people will often ask themselves where their roots actually come from, and are willing to learn more about themselves. Intermarriages have caused people to have different identities or ethnicities such as Chicano, mestizo, Hispanic and several others (Holmgren 6). As we know, there are many cultures in the world, and in countries like the United States and Mexico people will often wonder where their family comes from and wil start to think that their culture makes them different to other people. Anzaldua makes us realize that these thoughts are not really true and that no matter what culture they are from, everyone will always be the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Door Openers What is the Difference Between Belt, Screw and Chain Drive Garage Door Openers Are you considering automating your garage door in Dallas? There are three standard types of garage door openers to consider. These are: 1. Chain drive garage door openers As the name suggests, these openers employ the use of a chain in the opening mechanism of the door. The chain attaches to the metal trolley in a similar way as a chain on a bicycle. Later models of the chain driven doors get their power from DC motors. 2. Belt driven openers These models are similar in operation to the chain driven models. However, a reinforced belt replaces the chain. This belt pulls and pushes the trolley. Belts used in these doors are made of various strong materials including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The belt used in this version eliminates any metal on metal contact. This reduces the amount of sound or vibration associated with the operation of the door. Belt driven openers however, cost much more than other types of openers. They therefore require a large investment up front for their purchase and installation. 2. Chain driven openers These are the most economical choice for garage door openers. They are also one of the most dependable models available. The main disadvantage of using chain driven openers is that they produce a lot of noise during the operation of the door especially if the garage is attached to the rest of the house. Later versions that use DC motors incorporate soft start and stop technology. This has made them much quieter than the older versions. 3. Screw driven openers These openers require the least amount of maintenance as they have few moving parts. They also provide fairly quiet operation as they feature tracks lined with plastic to reduce the noise. They are, however, not suitable for areas that experience large variations in temperature between summer and winter. They tend to run into a lot of trouble when installed in these regions. However, manufacturers continue to make improvements on these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Social Observation Assignment Observation Assignment Social interaction? Many individuals have probably heard that term before at least once in their lifetime. Social interaction is really important for researchers and sociologist to seek the important factors of physical health of individuals. I recently went on a observation assignment to a nearby creamery called Baskin Robbins were a variety of individuals and families tend to appear on a warm day. This would be rather the perfect spot in my mind to seek the behavior of individuals and how they seem to interact around other individuals around them. I decided to go visit the creamery on a usual warm afternoon knowing that the location would be a hotspot for families, friends, and individuals to attend to. Once, I ... He body expressions just about said it all he wanted his shift to be over. I sat down and started to observe more of the individuals who came to get some more ice cream. One thing that was clearly noticeable was that the female employees still had some energy and smiles attending families and others. Many families stayed and talked about which person ordered the best ice cream flavor and just seemed happy spending time with their loved ones. Others such as single individuals walked right out after their order. A few young couples stayed around to laugh and joke around then later left. Baskins Robbins that afternoon seemed more of a family and friend gathering to sit and enjoy being around their loved ones. The most interesting part of my observation was observing how the attitudes of people change from being pretty impatient to having a great time with their family after the long wait. It seems to me like many individuals don t have much patience in having to wait but are willing to put up for it to have some quality time with their friends and family. I felt much like a researcher when I walked up to the line of Baskin Robbins taking observation notes immediately. It was a really interesting experience observing others around me knowing I wasn t any different than they were. Taking notes was much more different than people watching. While I was observing ... • 6. Comparing The Iliad And The Aeneid Homer once said, Two urns on Jove s high throne have ever stood, the source of evil one, and one of good; from thence the cup of mortal man he fills, blessings to these, to those distributes ills; to most he mingles both. What the great philosopher is establishing is that the source of good and evil are the same while being different. Reminiscent of how The Iliad and the Aeneid are both epic poems that share similarities such as the setting, the reoccurring motif of gods, as well as aspects like the two heroes and the goals to be reached by the plot. When comparing the similarities between the two epics, The Iliad and the Aeneid, one of the most obvious is the setting of which they each take place. They are a part of the same era, one where the world was chaotic and still needed the frivolous gods to meddle. The Trojan War with its destructive power was a significant setting in both poems and led to the development of each respective plot. In the face of the dreads of the warfare in both epics, even the most powerful of warriors will experience fear, and the poets tell the audience details that both armies regret that the war ever began. The Iliad took place during the actual war. It is very much centralized around the occurrences of the war. Though the status of fighting a war is glorified, the men can be seen dying ghastly deaths; women becoming enslaved and shamed, and families torn apart. Ah, put no faith in anything the will of the gods opposes! See, Priam s virgin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Colin Beavan got in touch with some foodies and asked what they did for eating environmentally conscience. And Colin and his wife found other activities to do during their normal TV time, like preparing ingredients for their meals and spending time with their friends. Colin even went as far as to visit the farm that he gets his milk from just to see if the farmer s ideals lined up with his. This chapter brought up a good point about the antibiotics regulations for organic farming. As someone who was once a member of 4 H if you are planning on raising market animals the healthier the animal is the better. So when the USDA set the no antibiotics standard for market animals to be considered organic is unrealistic because in order to have a shot at raising healthy animals they need to get shots to keep them from getting sick. And this doesn t just apply to 4 H, it applies to commercial farms too and that s why some of them treat their animals so badly. Commercial farms try to follow the USDA rules but aren t making enough money to keep their animals healthy so when they get sick the animals are hurriedly pushed to get well without the use of vet care, because that s money that they could use to buy more animals instead of trying to care for the ones they have. This doesn t condone the methods the commercial farms use but it is easier to care for the animals better when you are a 4 H er and raising 1 3 animals per year as opposed to a factory farm raising 60 70 animals per year. ... • 15. Gender Transition Is An Intelligible And Recognizable Rite... Gender transition makes for a provocative quilting point as it shapes Western social conventions regarding binary gender identities into an intelligible and recognizable rite of passage. Originally theorized by anthropologist Arnold Van Gennep (date), rites of passage configure social status changes into a visible tripartite process denoted by a starting point of separation, followed by a transitional (or liminal) stage, and concluding with a reinstallation back into society under the new station (CITE). While the process is undertaken by, and therefore has been ostensibly created for, the individual initiate, rites of passage are constituted and maintained by the State, which institutionally signifies passage from one phase of the process to another. Each gradation in the case of gender transition, the individual s divorce from their prior status as a recognizable man or woman , the mediated liminal state that includes hormone replacement therapy, real life test, ongoing therapeutic consultation, surgical remedies, and the re aggregation (Turner 363) noted through post operative letters and/or changed government documents is orchestrated, measured and controlled. The expected and rewarded end result is for the transgender individual to be recognized as analogous as cisgender. In a binary gendered society, such passing defines a successful gendered rite of passage; conversely, to be trans is to located betwixt and between (Turner 1969) the dominant gender ... • 16. Google Glass Essay Google Glass is without a doubt a very strong and innovative product with a high potential for growth. However, following the initial launch, negative perceptions of these augmented reality glasses gave view to a few major issues holding them back from success. Many of these problems occurred primarily due to lack of security and privacy. Concerns during the initial release were caused by the fact that the wearer can film or take pictures with out the subject(s) knowing or giving consent. As a result, negative consequences, such as speculation against Google, along with customer assault and isolation began to make face. Customers were targeted and harassed for supporting the product, which worked to both stunt market growth, and lower Google s reputation. Not soon after, social media sites took wind of the escalating situation and assisted in a major backlash against the new product. Overall, the failure of the Google Glass explorer program directly resulted from the prevalence of these unforeseen privacy issues. Removing the camera feature from the device would ultimately eradicate that concern, while they would continue to provide all the other functions that wearables are known for. Unfortunately, this action would diminish the devices value, market reaction would initially be negative, and ultimately sales may not take off as planned. During World War II, prisoners of war have been tortured, and experimented on. Back then, people even have a place to design and test out experiments, they call it Unit 731 . During World War II, Prisoners of War were tortured by many different ways, just like how the boys in Lord of the Flies were tortured by their own captivity while on the island. Prisoners of war (POW) were experimented in many different ways. One way they have been experimented was when the Japanese tested out biological weapons on multiple prisoners of war. Most of the individual used for the experiments were Chinese and Korean. (histclo,1). This shows that prisoners of war were being experimented on and how they were being experimented during World Ward II. This connects to Lord of the Flies because the boys were tortured and experimented on by the beast . On page 207, the beast says, I m warning you. I m going to get angry.... So don t try it on, my poor misguided boy, or else (Golding,207). This shows that the beast was experimenting on Simon, and threatening him to do stuff or else he would get hurt. This also shows that the beast has power over Simon, since Simon obviously doesn t want to get hurt. Just like how the prisoners of war ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Differences between Two Famous Artists Artwork Artwork could be defined as a universal language that can carry ideas and emotions of an artist toward audiences via a particular narrative. Presently, there are many memorable art pieces from various artists. Claude Monet and Pablo Picasso have become prominent from their unique styles of artwork, which conveys a profound feeling through basic elements of art, such as the use of color and a narrative. Although two of them are highly notable for art, there are four differences between Monet s garden and Picasso s garden, which are artist s background information, technique, inspiration and meaning. The first difference between Monet s garden and Picasso s garden is artist s background information. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Meaning is an explanation that uses to describe an emotion in the scene, which leads the audience to a better interpretation of a narrative in the painting. Monet uses a quick painted style to portray reality, which, in this case, is a collective joy of intimate friends in a garden (Walton, 2007). In the foreground, there is a graceful woman sitting under the tree and smiling at the sounds of her two friends flirting behind her. A man and a woman seem to share a flirtatious conversation as the woman appears a pink flush on her cheeks while answering the man s question, covering her face with a bouquet of flowers in her hands, and sneakily looking at the man s face. Another woman, young and innocent, staying in the background, is delightfully admiring the flower bushes around her with a beaming smile appeared on her lips. She seems to be one of the nature lovers who can solely spend most of her time outdoor amid the flower garden. The feelings of these three people are all freshened up by the delightful talk and the support of natural surrounding around them. On the contrary, Picasso prefers a sharp painting style represented in geometric shapes, such as triangle, rectangle or oval, which may lead audiences to have a profound feeling ( Pablo Picasso, 2009). Considering the painting named Seated woman in a garden , Picasso captures a moment of a woman sitting alone in a spacious garden. Perhaps the woman is waiting for her lover at the appointment; however, as she waits longer she does not seem to see her love, therefore appearing gloomy features. In addition, the nature around her seems to reciprocate her grief by appearing leaves in a dull tone of green color instead of the freshly light green as revealed in the Monet s garden. Thus, the painting of Monet is more appealing due to the delightful story of lively friends, a pleasant couple, and a nature lover, which many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. Migrant Workers and Xenophobia In addition, the continued increase of the migrant workers in Singapore might lead to xenophobia in the country. According to Khan, Rola and Ruxandra migrant workers continue to suffer economic prejudice because government employment policies operate in favor of national workers (1). In Singapore, migrant workers make up a larger percentage of the population thereby leading to competition over employment with the natives. As such, the possibility of xenophobia prevailing in Singapore is high. This is because competition between natives and foreigners over meager economic resources has always led to xenophobia in many other countries. For example, xenophobia has been a problem in South Africa because the residents accuse African immigrants from the horn of Africa for stealing their jobs (Slier, para. 3). The xenophobia problems come from unemployed South Africans. Nonetheless, most of the immigrants struggle to earn a living in the same way the natives do but the natives view them as competitors. For instance, most successful immigrant groups are Somalis. The reason for the success of the Somalis is their entrepreneurial skills as well as their strong intra ethnic ties that resemble those of the Indians. Each slum has an isolated Somali neighborhood where most Somali refugees live and work (Abdi, para. 7). Nonetheless, most Somali refugees and immigrants face insecurity from the local vigilante groups and gangs because they view them as aliens. However, there has been ... • 27. Examples Of Tragic Flaw In Hamlet Hamlet Essay Paper A fatal flaw refers to the key element in the precipitous decline of a plan or person. It is an event that could cause an unexpected problem and prevent an opportunity from accomplishing its goals and objectives. Fatal flaws can be associated with assumptions which are difficult to establish. In literature, fatal flaw is associated with a protagonist who has a serious character flaw which leads to their downfall. (Evans, 158). In the play Hamlet, Hamlet s tragic flaw is his heart. He is a very clever person because he would make devious plans on finding out if King Claudius murdered his father or not. He becomes hesitant in carrying out revenge on King Claudius because Hamlet lacks willpower and passion. His incapability to act is indeed the tragic flaw. He had an opportunity to kill King Claudius when praying in his chamber but he made excuses as to why he could not destroy him. This indecisiveness leads to his downfall. As we all know, tests vary from straightforward, to mildly difficult, to just unforgiving and torture for the mind, but this is life and whether people like it or not, everybody has to take a test in their academic career. In specific, the quote at the start of the paragraph shows the author of Save Us From the SAT, explaining to the reader her struggles when she took the SAT or Scholastic Assessment Test. But not to worry because College Board announced in late March that they will be redesigning the SAT to make it, as they say, more high school oriented. The way the SAT is being changed is by making the essay optional, taking out the odd and unusual vocabulary words and replacing them with words that people use day to day life, allowing it to be taken on a computer, and most importantly not penalizing the test taker for getting the wrong answer. This all sounds fantastic, but there is one problem and that is that the new exam will be put into use in 2016. That is my problem, why would they make people suffer and make the test only available until 2016. In my opinion, College Board should speed up the process of making the new SAT in order for other people to benefit from the changes. Many people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This novella is regarded as one of the first works of naturalism in American literature and it helped shape the naturalistic principle that a character is set into a world where there is no escape from one s biological heredity and the circumstances that the characters find themselves in will dominate their behavior and deprive them of individual responsibility. Throughout the story, the primary goal of the main characters is to escape the lives they lead and to find more comfortable lives away from their current problems, which differs from the romantic ideal that the main characters usually turn inwards to solve their problems. In the opening stages of the novella, Maggie tries to escape her troubling life through her relationship with Pete. As Maggie grows up, she becomes a beautiful girl who hates her life in Rum Alley. To test our feature sets we adopt a relatively simple learning framework that uses linear Support Vector Machines to classify each possible image region as a Human or as a non Human. This work makes three main contributions. Firstly, we introduce grids of locally normalized Histograms of Oriented Gradients (HOG) as descriptors for people detection in static images. The HOG descriptors are computed over dense and overlapping grids of spatial blocks, with image gradient orientation features extracted at fixed resolution and gathered into a high dimensional feature vector. They are designed to be robust to small changes in image contour locations and directions, and significant changes in image illumination and color. Secondly, the Human detection algorithm has to be executed on modern parallel platforms to achieve the detection goal in real time. Thirdly, alert video monitoring station with an indication. It enhance the Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) based Surveillance cameras purpose. Keywords HOG, Feature extraction, Human detection, SVM classifier, GPU, RTSP. I. INTRODUCTION With the increasing danger of crime, video surveillance attracts much more attention and it has been adopted in different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Greek God Apollo Research Paper Greek God Apollo Research Paper I guess darkness serves a purpose: to show us that there is redemption through chaos. I believe in that. I think that s the basis of Greek mythology , Brendan Fraser once said about the idea of all Greek Gods and myths. The people of ancient Greece would look up to various gods, depending on what they were seeking. Apollo s name translates to strength , as he displayed this trait throughout his lifetime and had to be emotionally and physically stronger at times for the people of Ancient Greece. Apollo was a man of trust who excelled and supported all of the fine arts of the Greek civilization such as music, art, and poetry (God Apollo). One of the most underestimated traits of Apollo was his healing powers, in which he helped out many Greeks in desperate times, like the Trojan War (Cartwright). The Greek God Apollo was the most influential among Greek people because of his recognition for music, the truth, and healing powers. Apollo was born on the Greek island of Delios, from his parents Zeus and Leto (Regula). Zeus was the god of the Olympians who also controlled lightning and thunder, and Leto was the goddess of motherhood (Atsma). Apollo was a god who had a clear idea of what was right from wrong and lived with the idea of that the Greek society could live under peace and harmony and follows the laws that were put into motion, especially after the Trojan War (The Story of Apollo). Apollo demonstrated importance to the people of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Essay on The Scientific Revolution The Scientific Revolution A paradigm is one s world view in which one understands his place in it. Copernicus, Galileo, Vesalius, Linnaeus, Leuwenhoek, and Newton were all medieval scientists, whose work changed people s lives and the world. The way man viewed the universe in which he lived, the world of nature that surrounded him and even his own physical anatomy changed right before him. Scientists, like Galileo, disproved the heliocentric model as new instruments like the telescope were invented. The way in which man saw his own physical anatomy changed when Andreas Vesalius completed detailed studies of the human body. Due to these new, groundbreaking studies man began to view himself as insignificant and as a machine. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Catholic Church believed that Galileo was mocking the Church approved ideas of Ptolemy and their geocentric model. The Catholic Church sentenced Galileo to house arrest for the remainder of his life, but his ideas of a heliocentric universe remained strong. This idea changed man s whole view of his significance and place in the universe. Now, man was no longer the center of everything. Man was not as important as he originally thought. This also meant that the Church was not preaching the truth, and that the Bible and Aristotle were wrong. This raised questions about the validity of the rest of the Bible and Aristotle s teachings. During the Scientific Revolution, scientists developed ways to make more precise and more reliable observations. The new scientists challenged the assumptions of past scientists. Zacharias Janssen invented the first microscope. Anton van Leuwenhoek used a microscope to observe bacterium and red blood cells. Galileo made the first thermometer using alcohol for measuring temperatures. Later, a German physicist named Gabriel Fahrenheit developed the first thermometer using mercury. In 1655, Evangelista Torricelli developed the barometer. The barometer measured atmospheric pressure. The barometer proved that the weather could be predicted, and therefore God did not control the weather. This new information disturbed the Catholic Church. Again, they were caught preaching the wrong information(TWW ).Galileo proved Aristotle ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
