Persuasive Essay On Plastic Bags
A pile of plastic bags sits on the floor from the last shopping trip. A trip that consisted of long lines
and other customers screaming children that needed their nap. What do you do with the bags? Maybe
throwing them away would be easy, but why waste those hard earned plastic bags if you could do
something with them? If you make your monstrous pile of bags into a rope, they won t be wasted. A
rope can be used for many things including tug of war, tire swing, etc.
If you want to start a project, it would be good to have the materials. You will need heaps of plastic
grocery bags in order to make a rope from them. The exact number of bags depends on how long you
want your rope to be. You will also need scissors. When you start the project, you will need some floor
space.
Now that you have all of your materials, you can start preparing to make the rope. Take nine bags and
lay them on the floor next to you. Now pick up one bag. There should be a seam under each of the
handles of the bag. Find both seams. If there are no seams, then the next part will be a little more
difficult.
For this part, you can either use your hands or pick up your scissors. Rip or cut at the top of the seam
under the plastic bag s handles and continue down to the base of the bag. Do NOT cut the base of the
bag. Cutting it will weaken your rope and make it harder to work with the plastic. Now that you have
finished one side of the bag, do the same for the other side of the bag. Once this is done,

Brent Staples is an African American male, who was born in 1951 in Pennsylvania. Brent Staples Just
Walk on By: Black Men and Public Space is about how he, a black male is perceived in public. One
night he was walking down an empty street in a poor section of Chicago and sees a young white
woman in front of him. They peacefully walk for a while until the woman turns around and sees
Brent, a tall, broad black male behind her. Brent then notices that picked up her pace and was soon
running in earnest . He then wondered why the woman ran and thought they she probably assumed
that he could have been a mugger, rapist, or worse. He then became embarrassed and felt as if he was
a criminal. He soon became accustomed to hearing the click of a car

Nikki Giovanni s Ideas Of The Black Arts Movement
In addition, the Black Arts Movement were deemed to be and known as controversial for various
reasons. One of those being much of the initial content that was published was considered to be sexist
and have sexist agendas. While another being, many works being solely focused on male masculinity
which threatened to drown out the voices and the messages of African American women artists within
this movement. This era was known to be heavily male dominated but many female authors gained
their recognition for their works. Those being Nikki Giovanni (1943 ), Mari Evans (1919 2017), Sonia
Sanchez(1934 ), and others. Who had celebrated their black womanhood, motherhood, and feminism
by conveying these messages in their work. Nikki Giovanni, who was known as a prominent figure in

Sonia Sanchez, a poet who contributed to the movement by defining what black identity was during
this time period. And by celebrating black culture in the forms of poetic forms by using the everyday
lives of African American women and men. This was fairly known in works such as homecoming and
TCB. Referencing back to Nikki Giovanni, in the short poem For Saundra, which observed the
features of a personal experience by incorporating larger social and societal concerns. Such as
privilege vs. prejudice, Giovanni does this by addressing the things around her and writing about
things that she enjoys to write about. And Giovanni tries to express this in this poem by saying in that

Relationship Between Mesopotamian And Greek Gods
Throughout their histories, religion has played a central role in Mesopotamian and Greek culture. Both
peoples built mighty temples and made countless sacrifices in the name of their gods, but the exact
nature of their relationships with their gods remains a mystery. Historians are left to guess at their
customs and traditions from the works they left behind such as Homer s epic poem The Illiad and the
anonymous epic poem the Epic of Gilgamesh. From these texts, it becomes apparent that the
Mesopotamians relationship with their gods was one founded on a sense of respect while the Greeks
was one rooted in fear. Correspondingly, the Mesopotamian gods are more restrained and nurturing in
their interactions with humans while the Greek gods are brash and patronizing, though neither set of
gods is greatly concerned with the wellbeing of mortals. In both cultures, humans and gods share an
undeniable connection in their range and expression of emotion. As such, though Mesopotamians and
Greeks take different approaches to interaction with their gods and vice versa, the relationship
between humans and gods is fundamentally the same in both cultures.
From the human perspective, the Mesopotamians and Greeks share a strong sense of reverence for
their gods. They make regular sacrifices and hold their gods in the highest esteem, but these
sentiments come from different places. The Greeks act primarily out of fear while the Mesopotamians
act more out of a notion of respect. In

A Social Hierarchy Of Control Over Societal Resources
In all societies three kinds of resources are valued i) power the ability to impose one s will on others;
ii) prestige respect from others; iii) property wealth owned, whether measured in yams, land etc. And
all societies more complex than a simple gathering band, these resources are unequally distributed
among individuals and groups. When people who differ in their ascribed and achieved characteristics
are evaluated differently; a social hierarchy is formed. A hierarchy is a set of ranked statuses from
highest to lowest. Because both the most and least valued traits are likely to be relatively rare, status
hierarchies tend to be diamond shaped, narrow at the very top and bottom. Within the hierarchy,
people at different levels or strata, can claim different amounts of power, prestige and property. In this
way, a set of ranked statuses based on evaluations of social worth is transformed into a hierarchy of
control over societal resources. Stratification systems thus, are both a cause and consequences of
inequality. Although in a hunting and gathering society all members are equally valued and rewarded,
but it is a rare phenomenon. Once the division of labour expands beyond gathering some tasks will be
considered more important than others, and the people who perform such tasks are rewarded with
power, respect and material goods. At the very least, labour is divided on the basis of sex and age, so
that all societies have gender and age stratification systems. The more

A Brief Note On The North Fork Of Long Island
Going out to the North Fork of Long Island, many people indulge in the wineries dotted along the two
main roads. These wineries produce world renowned wines and have a great atmosphere. For those
who get a little hungry, they might stop at our multiple family owned farm stands and buy some fresh
salad greens, or go apple picking in the crisp fall air. This all sounds wonderful until you face the
facts. Without the overuse of many topical chemicals to treat for pests, fungus, and weeds, these
commodities would be much harder to come by. Chemicals such as PCB s, PHA s, and the now
banned DDT were all once used on these fertile farmlands of Long Island and since then may be a
direct factor to the rise in cancer rates on Long Island, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This hypothesis had lead scientists to believe that being within sight distance of a pre 1972 fogger
truck spraying DDT may be associated with the estrogen receptive tumors, the most common type of
breast cancer diagnosed among American women (White). While DDT is still banned, there is the
factor of biological magnification that is still present today. Biological magnification is the process in
which chemicals of small doses are absorbed into the fatty tissues of animals through the water they
drink, and as they are absorbed into the fatty tissues, they are then passed down to the offspring of the
animals through the mother s milk, and are absorbed into the offspring s fatty tissues. This is present
in humans just as much as animals, and has lead to the fact that DDT still exists in our ecosystem to
this day. Pesticides and other chemicals also enter the ecosystem through water sources. DDT is
commonly known to be soluble in water, and have great biological magnification factors in the
ecosystem of the Long Island Sound. In a study used in research done by Marietta College, there was
biological magnification of eight hundred times from the water to zooplankton. Then, fish will eat the
zooplankton, and those fish received another magnification of thirty one times. Then a larger fish eats
the first fish and receives a biological magnification of almost two times. Then the unfortunate larger
fish is eaten by a seagull which

The Greco-Persian Wars
The division and unification of Greek city states could have come from many different things,
however war seems to be the common attribute. War is able to divide and unify societies, cultures, and
religions throughout the world. Separation is also a cause of war, for example, civil wars have
happened all around the world in order to break apart a governing body.
According to history.com, Athens and Sparta, both powerful Greek city states, fought as allies in the
Greco Persian Wars between 499 and 449 B.C. In the wake of the Persian retreat, however, Athens
grew more powerful and tensions rose, escalating into nearly three decades of war. In many cases,
differences or opposing ideas and beliefs bring the destruction of war. For example,

Continuing Professional Development In Nursing
Continuing professional development is essential in the health care system particularly for the nurses
so they can maintain the knowledge and understanding about up to date health trends, policies,
treatments and techniques. It also provides the opportunity for nurses to maintain, improve and
broaden their knowledge, expertise and develop the personal and professional qualities required
throughout their personal lives (AHPRA, CPD, 2016, page 1). Nurses are individually responsible for
the delivery of safe and competent nursing care and each nurse is accountable for their practice.

knowledge and skills transfer undertaken by practicing registered nurses the aim of maintaining to
practice (Hegney et, al, 2010, p 142). Demand for the health care services are increasing because of
the ageing population and complex health care needs so through regular, useful and well targeted CPD
we advances our skills and knowledge for more challenging patient profile, strategies to improve
resilience and reduce burnout ( Aitken et al., 2011).Moreover, CPD extends the opportunity for us to
keep engaged in and up skill in evidence based practice principles which basically translates to better
job satisfaction and professional commitment and continued improvement in patient care( Tourangeau

The Waitress Was New By Dominque Fabre
Loneliness can exist even on the bustling streets of New York City or the cramped cabin of a
passenger airliner, because within all of us there is a form of loneliness no amount of people can cure.
Within the novel The Waitress Was New, by Dominque Fabre, loneliness is presented to us in the form
of a barman named Pierre who works at a busy metro café in a suburb of Paris. Pierre who is a
professional at the art of listening leads a simple existence outwardly but internally he is plagued by
loneliness that has stemmed from his profession, age, and his past regrets/turmoil s. Being a barman
Pierre s job is to converse with people lending them his ear daily, though rarely do the patrons
reciprocate. Over the years Pierre has developed a wit and collective personality in dealing with
problems, this is helpful when his bosses are struggling with marital issues that threaten the restaurant.
Though at the end of the day Pierre doesn t have a wife or family to go home vent to which helps
alleviate the stress of the day for most people. The only person he has consistently is himself which
leads him to believe that he is sufficient with bottling up daily problems. The reason for this loner
mentality is because Pierre has become to believe that he is at the end of his life and that he is simply
a cog in the machine of process. His mindset is a direct result from his past, with the loss of his mother
(the only close family he had), his divorce (which kids were not conceived), his

Affirmative Action and Hosea Martin Essay
Affirmative Action and Hosea Martin
Hosea Martin s article on affirmative action aims to defend the practice of hiring
people not just on their qualifications but by their race as well. He does so by using his
own experience in the work place along with some personal, unsupported opinions of his
own regarding hiring practices and education. Martin also attempts to defend affirmative
action programs as being fair and non discriminatory by emphasizing that every single
one of us...had been hired for reasons beyond our being able to do our jobs. (Martin qtd.
in Hicks, 219).
Martin begins by trying to explain how no one is actually hired on their
qualifications in this meritocracy . Everyone has an unfair ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He asserted that the officer did not receive a job on the
basis of his qualifications but on the fact that he belonged to a certain fraternity. The
implication here is that there was something wrong or even laughable about hiring him
because ...he was a member of Phi something fraternity. (220). Many people join
fraternities and sororities not to engage in keg parties every Friday night, but to be able to
network after graduating from college. There are also many fraternities that are
academically based such a Phi Theta Kappa here at BCC, of which I am a member.
Organizations such as this look good on a transcript and sometimes are even the deciding
factor in admission to graduate school. To compare a persons race or circumstance of
birth to being an active and voluntary member of an organization is patently absurd.
Using this experience as a premise for argument is even more so.
Lastly, Martin touches on the subject of education. In his article he presents only
one statistic,~ the percentage of minorities enrolled in medical school in 1980 (10%) as
compared to 1960 (5%). These statistics do not however show the percentage of those
who actually graduate. It is a proven fact that students who are not properly prepared for
postsecondary education and are admitted on the basis of race or gender do not fare as
well as truly qualified white students. Robert M. O Neil,

Blackberry s Success And Popularity Before Their Setbacks
Blackberry s success and popularity before their setbacks can be attained to their exporting approach

have certainly made a household name and reputation particularly in the enterprise segment both
nationally and especially internationally. They previously secured market share in numerous countries
as they rapidly expanded. This could not have been done without effective exporting modes and
strategies. Unfortunately, as Blackberry s main downfall was their products remaining static so too
were their exporting strategies. Therefore, they must be further improved immediately in order to

Unlike today, the absence of e commerce in the early 2000 s when Blackberry became consumer
focused partially led to the inability to offer a direct to market sales model where consumers can
purchase an unlocked phone directly from Blackberry themselves. Therefore, exporting was not a
main concern for Blackberry before when they faced strong demand. One way or another, carriers and
other middle agents would be motivated to figure out a way to get Blackberry devices into the hands
of consumers since they could get a nice piece of the huge profit pie as well. Manufacturing of
Blackberry was outsourced for a while to factories across the U.S, Mexico, and Europe in order to
meet the huge demand they faced at their peak. Blackberry formed strategic alliances with numerous
Electronic Manufacturing Suppliers (EMS) including their major ones Elcoteq, Jabil Circuit, Multi
Fineline Electronix Inc., Qalcomm Inc., and Marvell Technology Group who thereby took on
manufacturing and distributing roles for Blackberry. Blackberry s Research and Development has also
been globalized with operations in China, Germany, Britain, and the U.S aside from its main original
location in Waterloo. RIM had a significant head start in shipping methods, a larger carrier distribution
network, and extensive customer support allowed it to remain ahead of Apple and Android devices for

December 11, 2014 Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells Derived Neural Crest Stem Cells and the
maintenance of Neural crest stem cell multipotency
Stem cells are unspecialized cells, which have the potential to develop into several different cell types
muscle cells, brain cells, skin cells, or red blood cells during early development. Stem cells
continuously divide in order to replace other cells. As stem cells divide, they have the potential to
develop into a specialized cell or remain a stem cell. Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) play an
essential role in tissue regeneration, and can circumvent immune system concerns. There are a variety
of stem cells, including embryonic stem cells, adult stem cells, and induced pluripotent stem cells.
However, the main focus of this paper will be the usage of induced pluripotent stem cells.
Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells Derived Neural Crest Stem Cells Induced pluripotent stem cells are
adult cells that are genetically altered in order to match embryonic stem cells. In order to achieve this
embryonic stem cell like nature, induced pluripotent stem cells are impelled to express genes and
factors required to maintain the properties of embryonic stem cells. The main iPSC discussed in this
paper will be derived neural crest stem cells (NCSCs). Derived neural crest stem cells are present in

Passages Of Scripture For Christians And Christians Alike
Introduction
Jeremiah 31:31 34 is one of the most popular and well known passages of Scripture for both Jews and
Christians alike. It is a prophetic message of hope for God s people, where God promises that one day
he will make an unconditional new covenant to replace the Mosaic covenant that the Israelites have
broken. God s mercy and compassion shine through this prophecy as he shows that he is faithful to his
promises, despite the continued failings of the Israelites. Today Christians often refer to this passage
when declaring that Jesus Christ has ushered in this new covenant, and rightly so, however it is
important to first consider the prophesy in light of the time it was written and what it first meant to the
Jewish people who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the verses immediately preceding this passage (v. 23 30) God declares what life will be like for the
Israelites when he finally restores them, whilst immediately afterwards God promises the Israelites
that as long as creation endures he will never forget them (v. 35 37). This Book of Consolation is
sandwiched between strong warnings of divine judgment to Judah (Jer 1 29), and a prophetic
description of the fall of Jerusalem (Jer 34 35). The fact that these verses declaring the creation of a
new covenant were located between messages of judgment served to highlight Jeremiah s key themes
of God s mercy and faithfulness despite Israel s apostasy. This theme is consistent throughout the
entire Old Testament. In addition, the hope of future restoration is carried through the larger Biblical
narrative, where perhaps the book of Revelation is the most common example. At the end of
Revelation there is a promise of future renewal of heaven and earth (Rev 21:1 4). In addition, the new
covenant is finally fulfilled by the work of Jesus Christ, as recorded in the New Testament (Luke
22:20, 1 Cor 11:25, Hebrews 8:6 12).

My Time as a Human Statue
INSIDE AND OUTSIDE
Living statues or live statues are referred to people who pose in a statue or mannequin like of manner
and appear to be realistic. Looking back to the history of live statues, it has been seen that this form of
art has existed since the medieval and Renaissance times where live statues were a regular feature of
festivities and royal entries by rulers during that era. The living statue has also been dated to appear in
a scene of the 1945 French film, Les enfants du paradis (Children of Paradise). In the modern century,
a German dancer Olga Desmond put on Evenings of Beauty (Schönheitsabende) in which she posed in
imitation of classical works of art. Apart from that, Staticman, the well known living statue personality
with four world records, is also influential in today s live statue art where he has organized many live
statue festivals and teaches master classes for this art. Stationed in the first spot which was the Taylor
s University Square, being in a mask under the scorching sun was one matter, but the main issue was
to stay still in a static pose for five minutes. I was a bit nervous but at the same time excited and
curious since it was a new experience for me. I had only seen live statues in Trafalgar Square in
London when I was small, and now here I was being in the same league as them; despite the fact that I
m just an amateur beginner and still learning. Working in a group for this live statue was another

it and if they haven t seen it, they ve heard about it. The Wizard of Oz has been considered a vividly
imaginative work of fantasy in both its book and movie form. When the movie came out in 1939
America had its eye turned to the rest of the world as World War 2 unfolded yet it still captured the
attention of many with its use of the new technology Technicolor and its fantastic story. At the time no
one had ever considered it to be anything more than a work of fantasy, however as the years have gone
by people have begun to notice certain aspects of the movie that relate to a time and eventually a
movement that developed earlier in American history. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dorothy start on her way down the yellow brick road and meets three important characters. First she
meets the scarecrow with no brain. He represents Farmers and agricultural workers who are ignorant
of many city things but honest and hardworking. Farmers were string supporters of the populist
movement and the scarecrow ends up being a strong supporter of Dorothy throughout the entire film.
Next they meet the tinman. The tinman represents industrial workers. He is a lumberjack whose body
has been replaced with metal. This represents how many workers had been dehumanized and viewed
as only a means to make money. Finally they meet the cowardly lion. When they first meet the lion he
does his best to scare them but ends up being afraid of them. He tells them he wants to go the emerald

a populist presidential candidate and the out spoken leader of the populist movement. He had been
criticized as being a coward for not supporting the U.S. and its decision to go to war with Spain.
Bryan wanted to get into Washington so he could change American politics. This reflects the lion

Contemporary Appretation Of Contemporary Interpretations...
Contemporary Interpretations of Sacred Scripture:
Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen. I would like to begin by extending a warm welcome to todays
seminar that will dive into all things regarding religion and its place in a modern society. I will be
solely focusing on a contemporary expression that shows similarities and differences to a sacred text
of Christianity. So why is this of importance? The ever growing world we live in can often make it
difficult for traditions to be maintained in community s due to their arguably outdated form and
language. However, these values, messages and themes can be showcased and interpreted by viewers
in modern expressions such as film, song and poetry. The animated 2008 film Wall E, directed by
Andrew Stanton generally showcases the purpose of the story Adam and Eve. This is because of its
ability to teach the concept of straying from Gods way of life and the negative impacts leading a
greedy and consumerist lifestyle can have. The ways in which it showcases the ideas in both the parent
and derivative text can be seen in the interpretations of the central message as well as the context and
purpose of both pieces.
The central message of Wall E and the story of Adam and Eve is very similar. The story of Adam and
Eve reported in Genesis chapter two versus four until chapter three versus twenty four is commonly
associated with the teaching of the original sin, fall and death as well as human s decision in following
God s commands. Wall E

Indigenous People By Thomas King
Indigenous people are constantly put into categories by the North American government without the
White Canadians and Americans realizing it. Thomas King has a particular notion that as a society
there are three classifications that an Indigenous person can fall under; Dead, Live, or Legal Indian.
King uses the term Indian which some may seem as offensive although King proclaims: Terminology
is always a rascal and that there will never be a correct term to use, he suggests using the term that
people call themselves. Considering King s quote this paper will mainly include the terms Indian and
Indigenous when referring to Native Americans. Thomas King explains a Dead Indian as the North
American indigenous cliché of beaded, shirts, fringed deerskin dresses, loincloths, and moccasins.
With this description, Dead Indians are those who are noticeably Indigenous due to their clothing that
is typically only worn for ceremonies or dances. Live Indians are the forgotten about because they
happened to be forced into a reservation, dispersed in the rural areas, and cityscapes of North America
whereas King suggests where they were supposed to die out. King suggests that Live Indians are the
Indigenous people who are living in North America currently. Live Indians are biological Indians, but
due to the white society s perception of the Indigenous People Live Indians are not real Indians.
Lastly, Legal Indians are also Live Indians, but only the ones who are recognized by the

then the pill has been named one of the seven wonders of the modern world. Unfortunately, not
everybody agreed and saw the topic as irrelevant. In 2008, Bush administration proposed a law that
cuts off limitation of correct information on reproduction. Planned Parenthood filed a lawsuit against
the midnight regulation (Planned Parenthood Action Center). Health care was put in danger by Bush s
administration and Planned Parenthood did not approve. However it has not succeeded just yet, a
different suit has been filed separately to challenge the administration.(Planned Parenthood: Planned
Parenthood Sues Bush Administration). To improve history of the pill, in 2012 to 2014, Obamacare
provided zero pay for contraceptives. Health insurance is required to all FDA approved contraceptives
with no pay. An estimated 30 million women now are benefitting from Obamacare. (Planned

Technology Is A Key Component
Introduction
As technology becomes more and more prevalent in classrooms everywhere, questions arise regarding
the benefits and drawbacks on introducing technology to students at a young age. Technology is a key
component in many of today s educational settings; however, there are concerns as to whether
technology is being used as an aid and resource or as a crutch and whether or not technology is
replacing teachers. Despite these concerns, according to Barron, Harms, and Kalaydjian (2003) the use
of technology is increasing in classrooms across America. Teachers are using technology to perform
low level tasks, but not high level tasks. This could possibly be because many teachers are not
comfortable with the skills required to integrate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They reviewed the work of Sarij Blatchford, who has identified communication and collaboration,
metacognition and creative learning that can be engaged with technology in the classroom. However,
he still expresses the importance of adult and peer support and having the appropriate resources for
use. Stephen and Plowman (2008) themselves even question the conditions necessary for young
children to have a productive and positive encounter with technology. Traditionally children s use of
technology, such as computers, was during free playtime, which was often unproductive, so this study
focused on guiding children s interaction with information and communication technology in the
classroom setting.
Mitchell and Dunbar (2006) conducted an analysis of computers used in the nursery setting and the
benefits and concerns that may occur. They reviewed the works of Corders and Miller who argue that
the introduction of the computer to nursery school is inappropriate. They suggested that it pushed
children into becoming skilled little technicians. They view freedom to play, imagine, and enjoy the
experience of the world is more essential. The preschool Curricular Guidance argued that children
should have opportunities to used a range of ICT resources which will enhance and extend learning as
well as give them opportunities to engage in self directed learning.
Couse and Chen (2010) conducted a study to explore the viability of tablet

Main Characters In The Help
The Black and White: The Help The Help, by Kathryn Stockett, a historical fiction novel, is set in the
early 1960s of Jackson, Mississippi. The novel is about racism during the Civil Rights Movement, told
from the perspective of three characters. Skeeter is a 22 years old white female who just came back
home from Ole Miss. Constantine, Skeeter s maid has vanished and no one will inform her where she
has departed to. Aibileen is a knowledgeable, black maid, raising her 17th white child. The death of
her own son has altered something inside her. She is faithful to the little girl she takes care of. Minny
is Aibileen s best friend; she is short, fat, and possibly the boldest woman in Mississippi. She s an
expert cook, but she can t hold her tongue, so she s fired from another job. Minny ultimately discovers
a position working for someone who s new to town and doesn t know her too well.
The three main characters: Skeeter, Aibileen, and Minny all play an important role in shaping the plot
of the story. Skeeter s character represents isolation all the way through the novel. She becomes
secluded from the southern women community, where she was raised. She is the only white woman
who doesn t discriminate black people and shows them respect. Aibileen achieves misfortunes, but the
development is an unhurried, painful procedure.
Her personality is dictated by her place in the society as a maid; however, she grasps a focal part in the
composition venture with Skeeter and finds

Count Olaf In The Bad Beginning
Count Olaf is known to be a dangerous criminal in the book series, A Series of Unfortunate Events.
His main target is the Baudelaire orphans, who were left extremely wealthy after the passing of their
parents, and Olaf has shown throughout the books that he is willing to do anything to get their money.
In the work The Bad Beginning, the author Lemony Snicket uses the character Count Olaf to show
that being greedy can get you into trouble and villainous acts can sometimes bring people together.
Count Olaf s selfish need for money got him into trouble. For instance, when Olaf kidnapped Sunny to
blackmail Violet into marrying him so he could have control of her wealth, his plan was foiled and
there was a warrant put out for his arrest. His

Deception In The Importance Of Being Ernest
The truth is rarely pure and never simple. The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde, is a story
in which the attitude and dialogue simply distinguishes each character for who they truly are.
Additionally, the key setting of The Importance of Being Earnest revolves around the idea of
deception. Throughout the story, the characters begin to unveil their actual backgrounds after
committing the act of telling a variety of lies. Correspondingly, in this victorian era society the
character live in, it is ingrained in the minds of individuals that marriage has everything to do with
status; or in this case, the name. One character in particular that caught my attention was Algernon
Moncrieff. I believe this because through the use of deception, Wilde manages to contribute to the
work as a whole through his bravado attitude, comedic relief, and the honest threaded into his lies. ...

To be more specific, it is easy to identify Algernon as one of the most laid back characters, as chaos
passes by. An example of this deceit is when he asks for Gwendolyn s hand in marriage. In this
instance, he begins to lie about his name, simply because Gwendolyn does not seem to be interestested
in a man named Algernon. In the act of these lies, Algernon manages to stay loose, and follow through
with his attitude. Due to this, he gives a filter to the readers that everything is okay, even though
towards the end, all the truth is

Cashier Research Paper
My Cashier Career
I really enjoy working at Dairy Queen. I complete many tasks throughout my shifts. We cashiers are
able to take orders, make ice cream, clean up, and make sure that the customer area stays clean.
When I get to work, I clock in first and wash my hands at the hand washing sink. Next, I sign my
name in the Red Book and look at the daily chores that need to be completed. Before I start on the
chores, I check the screen to make sure that no ice cream needs to be made. If I go straight to doing
the chores, I check the ice, make sure the candies are stocked, clean the customer area, and make sure
that the condiment station is stocked. Then, during my shift, I take orders and make ice cream. I also
work drive thru sometimes,

Rose Dancing at Lughnasa
Re read Act 2 from page 56 (CHRIS: There she is!) to page 59 (KATE: what has happened to this
house? Mother of God, will we ever be able to lift our heads ever again...? (Pause)). Discuss the
presentation and role of Rose in this extract and elsewhere in the play.
Although mentally handicapped, Rose Mundy is perhaps the most fearless of all her sisters. Her role
in Dancing at Lughnasa is key in highlighting the morally and religiously restricting traits in her sister
Kate as well as outlining the confining constraints of living in very rural Ireland. As the plot unravels,
the audience become increasingly aware of Rose s dispersing innocence when symbolic events such as
the dead stained rooster occur.
As a result of her disability, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Small details that appear romantic to Rose such as him calling her his Rosebud seem sleazy and
worrying to everyone else as they know what Danny Bradley is really like, but unfortunately poor
Rose is too simple to realise. It is also very disheartening to watch Rose have to return to her banal,
grubby household duties after just seeing her in such a natural, relaxed state. Maggie tells Rose that
she needs to go and get some turf and Rose replies I ll change first, Maggie. It is sad that Rose s
happiness cannot last any longer; moreover it is interesting that she changes her clothes because Rose
s outfits are very representative of her routines. She changes from her good skirt and her good shoes to
her overalls and her wellingtons which show the drastic return from freedom and femininity to these
monotonous dirty tasks which she is summoned to.
There is a significant loss of innocence seen in Rose by her sisters and the audience after she has
returned from her date with Danny Bradley. Firstly, after thrusting some berries into her mouth she is
left with stained fingers. This has sexual overtones as a staining of red suggests a loss of innocence
that can never be washed out. Similarly, when Agnes rushes to meet Rose Instead of hugging her, as
she wants to, she catches her arm. Thus emphasising that Agnes realises Rose is no longer a child, she
is a woman now and she should not hug her as if she is a little girl. Catches suggests that Agnes has to

Worth The Value Of College
Students don t take their education seriously. Many students don t realize that their life is about to be
severely impacted in a negative way because they don t care about their education until they get to
junior year, but it s too late. Students should have a goal where they get to go to college because it s
worth the value. Graduating from high school and moving on to college will impact your life in a
positive way by gaining more money than a person without a degree and will help you have a closer
family.
People who graduate college generally make more money. They are able to have good jobs and are
able to support themselves and their family. For example, in the video Five ways ed pays it says that
students that graduate from high school and then graduate from college gain over $20,000 more per
year than students without a degree. Also students that have a degree get 63% more hourly wages than
students without a degree. Finally students that get a degree are 1/3 more likely to be ensured by an
employer instead of a student without a degree. This means that students that graduate from college
will end up making more money in the long run.

However many colleges provide students with financial aid that helps a student with paying all the
expenses college is asking for. Also students could apply for scholarships that could even pay off the
whole tuition for them. On the other hand students are the ones that choose not to do their work and
slack off at school. They are ruining their chances for getting scholarships or receiving financial aid
from colleges. No college wants to pay for a student that doesn t put any effort into their work and that
slacks off during class. Those are the types of students that will go nowhere in life, but for the
majority of students, college will better their

Star Wars Battlefront
Star Wars Battlefront was the most current anticipated Star Wars game next to Star Wars: The Old
Republic when it first launched. Three week after launch and we got the games first DLC package,
The Battle of Jakku . So how does it stand up now against other AAA titles such as Fallout 4? Well to
start off, Star Wars Battlefront, topped the most sold online game on the PlayStation 4 and broke the
record which was held by Bungie s Destiny , and was nominated for the The Best Games Award for
the best shooter. However around the community there are cries of gun balancing, and a single player
campaign! The DL 44, a blaster pistol you get for pre ordering the deluxe edition of the game is
deemed to be the most over powered weapon in the game. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is no campaign mode in this game as of now. There are rumors of EA currently producing a
campaign mode but they still remain unconfirmed. When compared up to Fallout 4, Star Wars
Battlefront is no competition for the amount of in game content that Fallout 4 provides. That is not the
case with multiplayer, Star Wars Battlefront was design and built around the multiplayer modes of the
game, and it excels in that. Not only can you play 20 on 20 team matches that take place in the most
iconic scenes of Star Wars but the amount of detail that went into the creation of these scenes are
absolutely stunning to say the least. Every thing from visual graphics and art work to the sound that
does an amazing job of putting you right into the middle of the battle is some of the best work ever put
out by the Frostbite Engine. There are only four planets in the game that you can battle on. Each
planet has a few maps each some that very in design and some that are just smaller versions of the
larger map, all of which deliver the same amount of quality in design and visuals as the other. With
these amazing graphics and sounds, comes many game modes to keep you entertained, and focused on
objectives. Objectives play a large role in the game that decides which team will more than likely

Free Throws
In the beginning, we often see tasks as not having meaning or being a waste of our time. We won t
realize that these tasks will help us later in life in valuable moments in our life. I remember as a young
child learning the ropes of how to play my favorite sport basketball. My father and I would drill
around, and i d learn to shoot by B.E.E.F (Balance, eyes, elbows in, and follow through), but one
tasked seemed to be unimportant to me and that was free throws. I couldn t understand why we had to
practice free throws so often and so much. I didn t learn until later in life how important it was to have
the skill of shooting free throws. While I was young free throws never seemed to be as important as
they are today to me, when i was young this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Playing against the Buffalo Bison we the freshman Warriors had not played well. Throughout the
game shots had not dropped for us and we struggled in a close game. None the less, we continued to
play physical on both ends of the court. Fouls were called in bunches on both ends of the court, on
both us and the Bison. The difference in us the Warriors and the Bison was that was shot free throws
exceptionally well compared to the Bison. In the end, the game ended with us the Warriors only have
three players on the court, while the Bison had five players left. Even down players we had gained a
lead where there was no way we could lose. During this game i shot twelve free throws and only
missed one, i shot at over ninety percent helping lead our team to a victory. This is when i realized
how important free throws are to a game of basketball. The amount of free throws you shot and make
is important to any team looking for a win against any opponent. Not till i had experience the meaning
of free throws first hand i had no reason to practice them. My father forced me to shoot them and i am
thankful now, while back then they just annoyed me. This task of shooting one hundred free throws a
night seemed to be useless at a young age, until i had was but in a position where my task lead us to
victory. The task i learned that day seemed to have no meaning to me until i had grown up.

Colleges Should Be Required Acceptance For College Students
Max is a smart student, she played sports, joined lots of clubs, and volunteered in her local
community, but online was another story. Online Max would post racy pictures of herself and
comment rude things on other peoples pictures. She even cyberbullied. She was applying to Howard
University and her application looked perfect. 15 weeks into the admission process, she got a letter
saying, unfortunately she did not get in. The admission staff at Howard University knew that they
would have liked Max as a student there, but her digital footprint was terrible. This isn t the only time
that this has happened to students. Many students applying into college are being kicked to the curb
for the things that are being posted online. A perfect G.P.A doesn t mean a guaranteed acceptance.
Colleges should deny acceptance for things prospective students post online because everything
students are doing now is cumulative and colleges are looking for students to help their campus not
hurt their campus. Colleges should look up their prospective student online because from the
beginning to the end of high school everything will add up. College freshman Max Thoman states,
...You re being judged on what you have created yourself in the past four years of your high school

  • 2. Persuasive Essay On Plastic Bags A pile of plastic bags sits on the floor from the last shopping trip. A trip that consisted of long lines and other customers screaming children that needed their nap. What do you do with the bags? Maybe throwing them away would be easy, but why waste those hard earned plastic bags if you could do something with them? If you make your monstrous pile of bags into a rope, they won t be wasted. A rope can be used for many things including tug of war, tire swing, etc. If you want to start a project, it would be good to have the materials. You will need heaps of plastic grocery bags in order to make a rope from them. The exact number of bags depends on how long you want your rope to be. You will also need scissors. When you start the project, you will need some floor space. Now that you have all of your materials, you can start preparing to make the rope. Take nine bags and lay them on the floor next to you. Now pick up one bag. There should be a seam under each of the handles of the bag. Find both seams. If there are no seams, then the next part will be a little more difficult. For this part, you can either use your hands or pick up your scissors. Rip or cut at the top of the seam under the plastic bag s handles and continue down to the base of the bag. Do NOT cut the base of the bag. Cutting it will weaken your rope and make it harder to work with the plastic. Now that you have finished one side of the bag, do the same for the other side of the bag. Once this is done, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Brent Staples Just Walk on By: Black Men and Public Space is about how he, a black male is perceived in public. One night he was walking down an empty street in a poor section of Chicago and sees a young white woman in front of him. They peacefully walk for a while until the woman turns around and sees Brent, a tall, broad black male behind her. Brent then notices that picked up her pace and was soon running in earnest . He then wondered why the woman ran and thought they she probably assumed that he could have been a mugger, rapist, or worse. He then became embarrassed and felt as if he was a criminal. Such as privilege vs. prejudice, Giovanni does this by addressing the things around her and writing about things that she enjoys to write about. And Giovanni tries to express this in this poem by saying in that in lines 1 5: i wanted to write, a poem, that rhymes but revolution doesn t lend itself to be be bopping (880). • 5. Relationship Between Mesopotamian And Greek Gods Throughout their histories, religion has played a central role in Mesopotamian and Greek culture. Both peoples built mighty temples and made countless sacrifices in the name of their gods, but the exact nature of their relationships with their gods remains a mystery. Historians are left to guess at their customs and traditions from the works they left behind such as Homer s epic poem The Illiad and the anonymous epic poem the Epic of Gilgamesh. From these texts, it becomes apparent that the Mesopotamians relationship with their gods was one founded on a sense of respect while the Greeks was one rooted in fear. Correspondingly, the Mesopotamian gods are more restrained and nurturing in their interactions with humans while the Greek gods are brash and patronizing, though neither set of gods is greatly concerned with the wellbeing of mortals. In both cultures, humans and gods share an undeniable connection in their range and expression of emotion. As such, though Mesopotamians and Greeks take different approaches to interaction with their gods and vice versa, the relationship between humans and gods is fundamentally the same in both cultures. From the human perspective, the Mesopotamians and Greeks share a strong sense of reverence for their gods. They make regular sacrifices and hold their gods in the highest esteem, but these sentiments come from different places. The Greeks act primarily out of fear while the Mesopotamians act more out of a notion of respect. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. A Social Hierarchy Of Control Over Societal Resources In all societies three kinds of resources are valued i) power the ability to impose one s will on others; ii) prestige respect from others; iii) property wealth owned, whether measured in yams, land etc. And all societies more complex than a simple gathering band, these resources are unequally distributed among individuals and groups. When people who differ in their ascribed and achieved characteristics are evaluated differently; a social hierarchy is formed. A hierarchy is a set of ranked statuses from highest to lowest. Because both the most and least valued traits are likely to be relatively rare, status hierarchies tend to be diamond shaped, narrow at the very top and bottom. Within the hierarchy, people at different levels or strata, can claim different amounts of power, prestige and property. In this way, a set of ranked statuses based on evaluations of social worth is transformed into a hierarchy of control over societal resources. Stratification systems thus, are both a cause and consequences of inequality. Although in a hunting and gathering society all members are equally valued and rewarded, but it is a rare phenomenon. Once the division of labour expands beyond gathering some tasks will be considered more important than others, and the people who perform such tasks are rewarded with power, respect and material goods. At the very least, labour is divided on the basis of sex and age, so that all societies have gender and age stratification systems. The more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These wineries produce world renowned wines and have a great atmosphere. For those who get a little hungry, they might stop at our multiple family owned farm stands and buy some fresh salad greens, or go apple picking in the crisp fall air. This all sounds wonderful until you face the facts. Without the overuse of many topical chemicals to treat for pests, fungus, and weeds, these commodities would be much harder to come by. Chemicals such as PCB s, PHA s, and the now banned DDT were all once used on these fertile farmlands of Long Island and since then may be a direct factor to the rise in cancer rates on Long Island, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This hypothesis had lead scientists to believe that being within sight distance of a pre 1972 fogger truck spraying DDT may be associated with the estrogen receptive tumors, the most common type of breast cancer diagnosed among American women (White). While DDT is still banned, there is the factor of biological magnification that is still present today. Biological magnification is the process in which chemicals of small doses are absorbed into the fatty tissues of animals through the water they drink, and as they are absorbed into the fatty tissues, they are then passed down to the offspring of the animals through the mother s milk, and are absorbed into the offspring s fatty tissues. This is present in humans just as much as animals, and has lead to the fact that DDT still exists in our ecosystem to this day. Pesticides and other chemicals also enter the ecosystem through water sources. DDT is commonly known to be soluble in water, and have great biological magnification factors in the ecosystem of the Long Island Sound. In a study used in research done by Marietta College, there was biological magnification of eight hundred times from the water to zooplankton. Then, fish will eat the zooplankton, and those fish received another magnification of thirty one times. Then a larger fish eats the first fish and receives a biological magnification of almost two times. Then the unfortunate larger fish is eaten by a seagull which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. The Waitress Was New By Dominque Fabre Loneliness can exist even on the bustling streets of New York City or the cramped cabin of a passenger airliner, because within all of us there is a form of loneliness no amount of people can cure. Within the novel The Waitress Was New, by Dominque Fabre, loneliness is presented to us in the form of a barman named Pierre who works at a busy metro café in a suburb of Paris. Pierre who is a professional at the art of listening leads a simple existence outwardly but internally he is plagued by loneliness that has stemmed from his profession, age, and his past regrets/turmoil s. Being a barman Pierre s job is to converse with people lending them his ear daily, though rarely do the patrons reciprocate. Over the years Pierre has developed a wit and collective personality in dealing with problems, this is helpful when his bosses are struggling with marital issues that threaten the restaurant. Though at the end of the day Pierre doesn t have a wife or family to go home vent to which helps alleviate the stress of the day for most people. The only person he has consistently is himself which leads him to believe that he is sufficient with bottling up daily problems. The reason for this loner mentality is because Pierre has become to believe that he is at the end of his life and that he is simply a cog in the machine of process. His mindset is a direct result from his past, with the loss of his mother (the only close family he had), his divorce (which kids were not conceived), his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Martin also attempts to defend affirmative action programs as being fair and non discriminatory by emphasizing that every single one of us...had been hired for reasons beyond our being able to do our jobs. Unlike today, the absence of e commerce in the early 2000 s when Blackberry became consumer focused partially led to the inability to offer a direct to market sales model where consumers can purchase an unlocked phone directly from Blackberry themselves. One way or another, carriers and other middle agents would be motivated to figure out a way to get Blackberry devices into the hands of consumers since they could get a nice piece of the huge profit pie as well. Manufacturing of Blackberry was outsourced for a while to factories across the U.S, Mexico, and Europe in order to meet the huge demand they faced at their peak. Alyssa Gbewonyo Biology 441 Section 16138 December 11, 2014 Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells Derived Neural Crest Stem Cells and the maintenance of Neural crest stem cell multipotency Stem cells are unspecialized cells, which have the potential to develop into several different cell types muscle cells, brain cells, skin cells, or red blood cells during early development. Stem cells continuously divide in order to replace other cells. As stem cells divide, they have the potential to develop into a specialized cell or remain a stem cell. Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) play an essential role in tissue regeneration, and can circumvent immune system concerns. There are a variety of stem cells, including embryonic stem cells, adult stem cells, and induced pluripotent stem cells. However, the main focus of this paper will be the usage of induced pluripotent stem cells. Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells Derived Neural Crest Stem Cells Induced pluripotent stem cells are adult cells that are genetically altered in order to match embryonic stem cells. In order to achieve this embryonic stem cell like nature, induced pluripotent stem cells are impelled to express genes and factors required to maintain the properties of embryonic stem cells. The main iPSC discussed in this paper will be derived neural crest stem cells (NCSCs). Derived neural crest stem cells are present in both the embryonic neural crest and the ... • 17. Passages Of Scripture For Christians And Christians Alike Introduction Jeremiah 31:31 34 is one of the most popular and well known passages of Scripture for both Jews and Christians alike. It is a prophetic message of hope for God s people, where God promises that one day he will make an unconditional new covenant to replace the Mosaic covenant that the Israelites have broken. God s mercy and compassion shine through this prophecy as he shows that he is faithful to his promises, despite the continued failings of the Israelites. Today Christians often refer to this passage when declaring that Jesus Christ has ushered in this new covenant, and rightly so, however it is important to first consider the prophesy in light of the time it was written and what it first meant to the Jewish people who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the verses immediately preceding this passage (v. 23 30) God declares what life will be like for the Israelites when he finally restores them, whilst immediately afterwards God promises the Israelites that as long as creation endures he will never forget them (v. 35 37). This Book of Consolation is sandwiched between strong warnings of divine judgment to Judah (Jer 1 29), and a prophetic description of the fall of Jerusalem (Jer 34 35). The fact that these verses declaring the creation of a new covenant were located between messages of judgment served to highlight Jeremiah s key themes of God s mercy and faithfulness despite Israel s apostasy. This theme is consistent throughout the entire Old Testament. In addition, the hope of future restoration is carried through the larger Biblical narrative, where perhaps the book of Revelation is the most common example. At the end of Revelation there is a promise of future renewal of heaven and earth (Rev 21:1 4). In addition, the new covenant is finally fulfilled by the work of Jesus Christ, as recorded in the New Testament (Luke 22:20, 1 Cor 11:25, Hebrews 8:6 12). Literary Character of Text Jeremiah s book is prophetic in nature, and has been written primarily in poetry with some prose. If my nails are chipped, not buffed or shaped correctly, I literally cannot deal. Seriously, I can t function if my manicure is not perfect. Does anyone else have a chipped nail polish phobia? • 19. My Time as a Human Statue INSIDE AND OUTSIDE Living statues or live statues are referred to people who pose in a statue or mannequin like of manner and appear to be realistic. Looking back to the history of live statues, it has been seen that this form of art has existed since the medieval and Renaissance times where live statues were a regular feature of festivities and royal entries by rulers during that era. The living statue has also been dated to appear in a scene of the 1945 French film, Les enfants du paradis (Children of Paradise). In the modern century, a German dancer Olga Desmond put on Evenings of Beauty (Schönheitsabende) in which she posed in imitation of classical works of art. Apart from that, Staticman, the well known living statue personality with four world records, is also influential in today s live statue art where he has organized many live statue festivals and teaches master classes for this art. Stationed in the first spot which was the Taylor s University Square, being in a mask under the scorching sun was one matter, but the main issue was to stay still in a static pose for five minutes. I was a bit nervous but at the same time excited and curious since it was a new experience for me. I had only seen live statues in Trafalgar Square in London when I was small, and now here I was being in the same league as them; despite the fact that I m just an amateur beginner and still learning. The Wizard of Oz has been considered a vividly imaginative work of fantasy in both its book and movie form. When the movie came out in 1939 America had its eye turned to the rest of the world as World War 2 unfolded yet it still captured the attention of many with its use of the new technology Technicolor and its fantastic story. At the time no one had ever considered it to be anything more than a work of fantasy, however as the years have gone by people have begun to notice certain aspects of the movie that relate to a time and eventually a movement that developed earlier in American history. ... • 21. Contemporary Appretation Of Contemporary Interpretations... Contemporary Interpretations of Sacred Scripture: Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen. I would like to begin by extending a warm welcome to todays seminar that will dive into all things regarding religion and its place in a modern society. I will be solely focusing on a contemporary expression that shows similarities and differences to a sacred text of Christianity. So why is this of importance? The ever growing world we live in can often make it difficult for traditions to be maintained in community s due to their arguably outdated form and language. However, these values, messages and themes can be showcased and interpreted by viewers in modern expressions such as film, song and poetry. The animated 2008 film Wall E, directed by Andrew Stanton generally showcases the purpose of the story Adam and Eve. This is because of its ability to teach the concept of straying from Gods way of life and the negative impacts leading a greedy and consumerist lifestyle can have. The ways in which it showcases the ideas in both the parent and derivative text can be seen in the interpretations of the central message as well as the context and purpose of both pieces. The central message of Wall E and the story of Adam and Eve is very similar. The story of Adam and Eve reported in Genesis chapter two versus four until chapter three versus twenty four is commonly associated with the teaching of the original sin, fall and death as well as human s decision in following God s commands. • 22. Indigenous People By Thomas King Indigenous people are constantly put into categories by the North American government without the White Canadians and Americans realizing it. Thomas King has a particular notion that as a society there are three classifications that an Indigenous person can fall under; Dead, Live, or Legal Indian. King uses the term Indian which some may seem as offensive although King proclaims: Terminology is always a rascal and that there will never be a correct term to use, he suggests using the term that people call themselves. Considering King s quote this paper will mainly include the terms Indian and Indigenous when referring to Native Americans. Thomas King explains a Dead Indian as the North American indigenous cliché of beaded, shirts, fringed deerskin dresses, loincloths, and moccasins. With this description, Dead Indians are those who are noticeably Indigenous due to their clothing that is typically only worn for ceremonies or dances. Live Indians are the forgotten about because they happened to be forced into a reservation, dispersed in the rural areas, and cityscapes of North America whereas King suggests where they were supposed to die out. King suggests that Live Indians are the Indigenous people who are living in North America currently. It is also very disheartening to watch Rose have to return to her banal, grubby household duties after just seeing her in such a natural, relaxed state. Maggie tells Rose that she needs to go and get some turf and Rose replies I ll change first, Maggie. It is sad that Rose s happiness cannot last any longer; moreover it is interesting that she changes her clothes because Rose s outfits are very representative of her routines. She changes from her good skirt and her good shoes to her overalls and her wellingtons which show the drastic return from freedom and femininity to these monotonous dirty tasks which she is summoned to. There is a significant loss of innocence seen in Rose by her sisters and the audience after she has returned from her date with Danny Bradley. Firstly, after thrusting some berries into her mouth she is left with stained fingers. This has sexual overtones as a staining of red suggests a loss of innocence that can never be washed out.
