Efficient Facial Expression and Face Recognition using Ranking MethodIJERA Editor
Expression detection is useful as a non-invasive method of lie detection and behaviour prediction. However, these facial expressions may be difficult to detect to the untrained eye. In this paper we implements facial expression recognition techniques using Ranking Method. The human face plays an important role in our social interaction, conveying people's identity. Using human face as a key to security, the biometrics face recognition technology has received significant attention in the past several years. Experiments are performed using standard database like surprise, sad and happiness. The universally accepted three principal emotions to be recognized are: surprise, sad and happiness along with neutral.
PRE-PROCESSING TECHNIQUES FOR FACIAL EMOTION RECOGNITION SYSTEMIAEME Publication
Humans share a universal and fundamental set of emotions which are exhibited through consistent facial expressions. Recognition of human emotions from the imaging templates is useful in a wide variety of human-computer interaction and intelligent systems applications. However, the automatic recognition of facial expressions using image template matching techniques suffer from the natural variability with facial features and recording conditions. In spite of the progress achieved in facial emotion recognition in recent years, the effective and computationally simple feature extraction and classification technique for emotion recognition is still an open problem. Image pre-processing and normalization is significant part of face recognition systems. Changes in lighting conditions produces dramatically decrease of recognition performance. In this paper, the image pre-processing techniques like K-Nearest Neighbor, Cultural Algorithm and Genetic Algorithm are used to remove the noise in the facial image for enhancing the emotion recognition. The performance of the preprocessing techniques are evaluated with various performance metrics.

An Approach of Human Emotional States Classification and Modeling from EEGCSCJournals
In this paper, a new approach is proposed to model the emotional states from EEG signals with mathematical expressions based on wavelet analysis and trust region algorithm. EEG signals are collected in different emotional states and some salient features are extracted through temporal and spectral analysis to indicate the dispersion which will unify different states. The maximum classification accuracy of emotion is obtained for DWT analysis rather than FFT and statistical analysis. So DWT analysis is considered as the best suited for mathematical modeling of human emotions. The emotional states are modeled with different mathematical expressions using the obtained coefficients from trust region algorithm that can be compared with the sub-band wavelet coefficients of different states. The proposed approach is verified with the adjusted R-square percentage and the sum of square errors. The adjusted R- square percentage of the mathematical modeled states are 78.4% for relax, 77.18% for motor action; however for memory, pleasant, enjoying music and fear they are 93%, 95.6%, 97.7% and 91.5% respectively. The proposed system is reliable that can be applied for practical real time implementation of human emotion based systems.

Local feature extraction based facial emotion recognition: A surveyIJECEIAES
Notwithstanding the recent technological advancement, the identification of facial and emotional expressions is still one of the greatest challenges scientists have ever faced. Generally, the human face is identified as a composition made up of textures arranged in micro-patterns. Currently, there has been a tremendous increase in the use of Local Binary Pattern based texture algorithms which have invariably been identified to being essential in the completion of a variety of tasks and in the extraction of essential attributes from an image. Over the years, lots of LBP variants have been literally reviewed. However, what is left is a thorough and comprehensive analysis of their independent performance. This research work aims at filling this gap by performing a large-scale performance evaluation of 46 recent state-of-the-art LBP variants for facial expression recognition. Extensive experimental results on the well-known challenging and benchmark KDEF, JAFFE, CK and MUG databases taken under different facial expression conditions, indicate that a number of evaluated state-of-the-art LBP-like methods achieve promising results, which are better or competitive than several recent state-of-the-art facial recognition systems. Recognition rates of 100%, 98.57%, 95.92% and 100% have been reached for CK, JAFFE, KDEF and MUG databases, respectively.

Elicitation of Apt Human Emotions based on Discrete Wavelet Transform in E-Le...AM Publications
This paper is going to address one of the important challenges faced by e-learning environment that is simulating a real-time class room environment. The success of the class room is mainly because of the special bond the tutor and the student share among themselves in a class room but this affective aspect completely get missed in e-learning environment. Most of the research which is been going on this field have concentrated only on student emotional aspect to some extent leaving completely the emotional aspect of the Teacher. When the most of the educational institution is concentrating on the cognitive aspects of the pedagogy, this paper is strongly advocating on the affective aspect of the pedagogy – which is the need of the hour. This paper deals with how the emotion captured for both the teacher and student by means of energy coefficients calculated by Discrete Wavelet Transform(DWT) method to be used effectively and efficiently in the e-learning platform.
Analysis on techniques used to recognize and identifying the Human emotions IJECEIAES
Facial expression is a major area for non-verbal language in day to day life communication. As the statistical analysis shows only 7 percent of the message in communication was covered in verbal communication while 55 percent transmitted by facial expression. Emotional expression has been a research subject of physiology since Darwin’s work on emotional expression in the 19th century. According to Psychological theory the classification of human emotion is classified majorly into six emotions: happiness, fear, anger, surprise, disgust, and sadness. Facial expressions which involve the emotions and the nature of speech play a foremost role in expressing these emotions. Thereafter, researchers developed a system based on Anatomic of face named Facial Action Coding System (FACS) in 1970. Ever since the development of FACS there is a rapid progress in the domain of emotion recognition. This work is intended to give a thorough comparative analysis of the various techniques and methods that were applied to recognize and identify human emotions. This analysis results will help to identify proper and suitable techniques, algorithms and the methodologies for future research directions. In this paper extensive analysis on various recognition techniques used to identify the complexity in recognizing the facial expression is presented.

Two Level Decision for Recognition of Human Facial Expressions using Neural N...IIRindia
Facial Expressions of the human being is the one which is the outcome of the inner feelings of the mind. It is the person’s internal emotional states and intentions.A person’s face provides a lot of information such as age, gender, identity, mood, expressions and so on. Faces play an important role in the recognition of the expressions of persons. In this research, an attempt is made to design a model to classify human facial expressions according to the features extracted f0rom human facial images by applying 3 Sigma limits inSecond level decision using Neural Network (NN). Now a days, Artificial Neural Network (ANN) has been widely used as a tool for solving many decision modeling problems. In this paper a feed forward propagation Neural networks are constructed for expression classification system for gray-scale facial images. Three groups of expressions including Happy, Sad and Anger are used in the classification system. In this paper, a Second level decision has been proposed in which the output obtained from the Neural Network(Primary Level) has been refined at the Second level in order to improvise the accuracy of the recognition rate. The accuracy of the system is analyzed by the variation on the range of the expression groups. The efficiency of the system is demonstrated through the experimental results.
FACE DETECTION AND FEATURE EXTRACTION FOR FACIAL EMOTION DETECTIONvivatechijri
: Facial emotion Recognition has been a major issue and an advanced area of research in the field of HumanMachine Interaction and Image Processing. To get facial expression the system needs to meet a variety of human facial
features such as color, body shape, reflection, posture, etc. To get a person's facial expression first it is necessary to get
various facial features such as eye movement, nose, lips, etc. and then differentiate by comparing the trained data using
differentiation appropriate for speech recognition. An AI-based approach to the novel visual system system is suggested.
There are two main processes in the proposed system, namely Face detection and feature extraction.Face detection is
performed using the Haar Cascade Method. The proper feature extraction method is used to extract the element and then
used a vector machine to distinguish the final face shape. The FER13 data set is used for training.
