This document describes a four wheel three mode steering system for vehicles. The system allows the rear wheels to steer either in the same direction or opposite direction of the front wheels. This provides three steering modes - normal steering with just front wheels, all wheels steering in the same direction for a reduced turning radius, and rear wheels steering opposite to the front wheels for sideways sliding of the vehicle. The system uses components like bevel gears, rack and pinion gears, and spur gears along with a lever to engage the different gear arrangements and switch between the three steering modes. The four wheel steering allows for easier parking and handling in congested areas compared to conventional two wheel steering systems.
