This document discusses using a software-defined approach and service coherence to analyze the performance of querying electronic health records stored in a cloud database. It proposes creating a query processing service that can store, access, and manipulate unstructured electronic medical record data using a file-based storage system. The performance of this system will be evaluated by measuring query response times and comparing to a traditional database. A software-defined controller is used to manage and provision resources from a pooled infrastructure to applications. Electronic health records are stored as objects with attributes rather than files to improve access and allow metadata tagging for easier retrieval.
