How can I develop an intranet 2.0 strategy? Which tools best suit my strategy? The number of social media tools available to organizations today can be overwhelming. With your organization’s efficiency and collaboration on the line, it’s important to pick the right one. Despite their potential impact, the best social media tools are seldom chosen by organizations looking to support their unique intranet 2.0 strategies.
Join Carmine Porco, GM and VP of Client Deliverables, as he walks through several social media tools, explaining their pros and cons, their benefits to an organization, and the ideal intranet environment to support them.
Learning outcomes:
• Learn the steps to developing an intranet 2.0 strategy (where to start)
• Learn the correct methodology to choosing the right intranet 2.0 tool
• Discover which social media tools best suit your organization
• Learn how to maintain an effective intranet 2.0 environment
• See different technologies

Information Overload - Can Activity Streams Help?David Lavenda
Workers increasingly need to track important business activities while on the go and initiatives like ‘Bring Your Own Device’ (BYOD) are helping by making devices to the mobile workforce. But the smaller tablet and smartphone form factors dictate a new user experience. Providing a meaningful mobile experience means much more than rolling out a mobile app. New “twitter-like” application activity streams represent a breakthrough because these streams can keep workers aware of updates while on the go. However, activity streams represent the next major source of information overload, since unmitigated streams create a ‘stream of unconsciousness’ that is impossible to follow. Automated filtering and context-aware technology provide some hope, but these technologies are still in their infancy. This presentation looks at the promise, as well as the issues provided by activity streams, and it proposes practical strategies for providing ‘anytime, anywhere’ activity updates in a secure and scale-able environment.

The Digital Workplace Maturity Model – Going Beyond the Intranet
What does it take to move from a traditional intranet to something that supports all aspects of a digital workplace?
* How do the dimensions of community, collaboration, communication, services and structure interrelate?
How should your organization’s strategy dictate the profile of your digital workplace?
What can we learn from similar systems about how intranets can evolve?

How can social media and collaborative technology increase productivity, improve decision-making and strengthen business teams? Introductory presentation by Tom Purves, Enterprise 2.0, Nov 7, 2006
What are the future trends in the Digital Workplace? Are we facing even bigger disruption from social, gamification, and the trends that have been prevalent over the last years or are we coming to a point where things are beginning to mature?
Are we making the most of the emergent trends or are we still using the same thinking and logic we did when the Sharepoint 2007 intranet was launched? It's time to challenge ourselves and our peers!
In this presentation I will take you through:
• The characteristics of the Modern Workplace
• What employees are looking for when using digital tools
• Four trends that is shaping the future of collaboration
• (Hopefully) A few new perspectives on new ways of working

Once a nice-to-have or a future wish, Intranet 2.0 tools such as blogs, wikis and other vehicles have become mainstream, and are present in nearly 50% of organizations (regardless of size) in the Western World.
* Date: July 21, 2009
* Location: Free Webinar 12 pm EDT
Unfortunately, executives and users alike are not very satisfied with the tools, and what they're doing. However, their are secret indredients to success.
This presentation reviews the findings of the Intranet 2.0 Global Survey and offer attendees a chance to learn why 2.0 has become an imperative, and what to consider / plan when implementing these social media tools.
Microblogging is synonymous with twitter, or at least it seems that way. In reality Facebook and many other social networking environments have adopted this communication paradigm extremely successfully.
The question really is how does this play in the enterprise space? Ian McNairn will discuss how IBM has adapted to this social computing phenomenon and exploits it internally extensively.
He will look at some of the reasons behind the exponential growth in activity as well as the tools and clients being used both within and outside IBM.

But many of those companies do not have ability to articulate why social presence is important and how this is impacting their businesses.
Through Sho's presentation, he will demonstrate current trend in social media and challenges social media marketers face. He will also present what technologies are available today to address such issues and how technology can enable companies to justify their investment in social media activities.

The intranet is not a project, it’s a process. In fact, the intranet has more to do with people and process than technology, which is merely an enabler.
Designing a new or redesigning an old intranet requires a completely different approach to design than a consumer website (or mobile site, or mobile app).
In this 30-minute webinar, expert intranet consultant Toby Ward will look at and examine the importance of the key people behind leading intranets. You will learn:
* Engaging employees and executives during design
* Governance principles and best practices, roles and responsibilities
* Staffing an intranet during and after launch
* The importance of change management and training for adoption

PHP Frameworks: I want to break free (IPC Berlin 2024)Ralf Eggert
In this presentation, we examine the challenges and limitations of relying too heavily on PHP frameworks in web development. We discuss the history of PHP and its frameworks to understand how this dependence has evolved. The focus will be on providing concrete tips and strategies to reduce reliance on these frameworks, based on real-world examples and practical considerations. The goal is to equip developers with the skills and knowledge to create more flexible and future-proof web applications. We'll explore the importance of maintaining autonomy in a rapidly changing tech landscape and how to make informed decisions in PHP development.
This talk is aimed at encouraging a more independent approach to using PHP frameworks, moving towards a more flexible and future-proof approach to PHP development.
"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
