Presented by Perttu Tolvanen 21 May at Intranätverk 2014 in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Due to different reasons, many organisations look for alternatives to SharePoint as intranet platform. This presentation will cover the most typical intranet scenarios and most typical competing systems for them. The presentation will analyze the market from the perspective of Scandinavia and will cover systems like Liferay, Confluence, EPiServer, Alfresco, etc.
Key questions:
- What are the most common WCMS and portal systems that are challenging SharePoint in the areas where SharePoint is weak?
- In what kind of situations you should question SharePoint as being the default choice for intranet? How to make that argument and also offer strong alternatives?
- What are the key differentiators between systems? Eg. language management, document management, search capabilities.
- Where is the WCMS market going? Can we expect more competitors to SharePoint in the future?

What role for the information specialist in the era of autonomous machines? What responsibilities attach to information that is in machine code, unreadable to humans, and how do we manage it? What new opportunities exist in a world of highly contextualised, personalised information that may be valid only for a few minutes?
These and other questions are addressed in this presentation, given at the Lavacon Conference in Portland, Oregon, November 7, 2017, by Ray Gallon and Andy McDonald.

But where will we go in the next five years? What trends emerging today will keep you ahead of the game and ensure your intranet is a key part of your employees’ lives? How can your intranet continue to mature into a vital communication platform?

Laicos is a technology Startup Studio led by Ryan Negri and Kyle Matthews. With 20 years combined operational and startup experience, Negri and Matthews want to shape the up-and-coming startup ecosystem of Tampa, Florida, developing their own ideas to create a new tech hub of innovation and entrepreneurship.
A “Startup Studio” is a structure whose aim is to repeatedly build products into companies. Thanks to its infrastructure and resources, a startup studio increase a product’s chance of success and optimize its creation and growth.
The difference between incubators/accelerators and Startup Studios is the vested human capital involved around an idea. At the core of the startups studio model are dedicated teams helping business ideas develop into beautiful products and successful companies.
Laicos’ flagship inaugural product, Fuse, is a social media management platform for the consumers and power users, with a simple price model and a clean and attractive UI. In addition, Laicos is developing four additional products: BusFinder, currently in beta version, an app utilizing data from the Tampa Public Transportation System; $1Market, to offer many different services to users for $1 dollar/mo, Order to Seat, for fans to order food to their seat while at a stadium or arena, and FoodStops, a food truck tracking app for consumers and marketing platform for vendors. In 20I7, we plan to work with other founders to help turn their ideas into reality.

Improving Workplace Safety Performance in Malaysian SMEs: The Role of Safety ...AJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT: In the Malaysian context, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) experience a significant
burden of workplace accidents. A consensus among scholars attributes a substantial portion of these incidents to
human factors, particularly unsafe behaviors. This study, conducted in Malaysia's northern region, specifically
targeted Safety and Health/Human Resource professionals within the manufacturing sector of SMEs. We
gathered a robust dataset comprising 107 responses through a meticulously designed self-administered
questionnaire. Employing advanced partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) techniques
with SmartPLS 3.2.9, we rigorously analyzed the data to scrutinize the intricate relationship between safety
behavior and safety performance. The research findings unequivocally underscore the palpable and
consequential impact of safety behavior variables, namely safety compliance and safety participation, on
improving safety performance indicators such as accidents, injuries, and property damages. These results
strongly validate research hypotheses. Consequently, this study highlights the pivotal significance of cultivating
safety behavior among employees, particularly in resource-constrained SME settings, as an essential step toward
enhancing workplace safety performance.

ABSTRACT: Although a significant amount of literature exists on Morocco's migration policies and their
successes and failures since their implementation in 2014, there is limited research on the integration of subSaharan African children into schools. This paperis part of a Ph.D. research project that aims to fill this gap. It
reports the main findings of a study conducted with migrant children enrolled in two public schools in Rabat,
Morocco, exploring how integration is defined by the children themselves and identifying the obstacles that they
have encountered thus far. The following paper uses an inductive approach and primarily focuses on the
relationships of children with their teachers and peers as a key aspect of integration for students with a migration
background. The study has led to several crucial findings. It emphasizes the significance of speaking Colloquial
Moroccan Arabic (Darija) and being part of a community for effective integration. Moreover, it reveals that the
use of Modern Standard Arabic as the language of instruction in schools is a source of frustration for students,
indicating the need for language policy reform. The study underlines the importanceof considering the
children‟s agency when being integrated into mainstream public schools.
