What Is Hannah Arendt Brave
Hanna Arendt was a political philosopher and thinker whose writings and political views on a
series of radical issues and topics were not only considered controversial but also undoubtedly left
an impression in her attempt to repair a community scared by Hitler and his Nazi followers.
Although her efforts were not on a physical nature, as she obviously could not mend the wounds of
all those affected by the holocaust, but merely to right the wrong established by the Nazis by
seeking justice particularly from one man, Adolf Eichmann. Arendt, a reporter for The New Yorker,
was sent to Jerusalem to cover the trail of Eichmann. While there, Arendt tackled the issues on
collective responsibility, morals and ethics, and totalitarianism. Issues that only the brave would
dare to address, only the brave could attempt to answer.
Before any of these issues can be undertaken, a brief biography on Arendt s life would certainly
be practical. Hanna Arendt was born October 14, 1906 in Hanover, Germany in 1906 to Jewish
parents. She studied Philosophy at the University of Marburg where she met Martin Heidegger,
her professor and mentor with whom she began an affair (Berkowitz, Roger.). Heidegger later
began a heavy affiliation with the Nazi. He not only supported Hitler s ... Show more content on

fugitive from the Nazis in 1941, when she and her husband immigrated to the United States. (d

Biography on Sir Francis Drake
Francis Drake was born in 1542 in Devonshire, England. He loves the water and can always find
himself going back to it over the years. Drake was the oldest of twelve children. Sir Francis Drake s
father was Edmund Drake and his mother was Mary Mlyaye Drake. His father worked as a farmer
on the land of Lord Frances Russell. Francis Drakewas named after his father s employer which
was also Drake s god father. Drake married his first wife, Mary Newman in 1569. After twelve
years of marriage, she died in 1581. Then in 1585, Drake married Elizabeth Sydenhan. Sir
Francis Drake never had any children of his own. At an early age, Francis started to work on a
ship that would sail between France and England to trade goods. Drake listened and did what he
was to do so well that when the owner of the ship passed away, he had no children of his own, so
he left the barque to Drake. Shortly after that, Drake was enlisted to assist his cousins; The
Hawkins. They would sail around and seize merchant ships off of the French coast. They were
considered privateers. In his early 1560, Drake was given his own ship; The Judith. He enlisted
the help of his cousin, John Hawkins. They would sail to Africa to start in slave trading. This was
totally against Spanish laws. After they purchased their slaves, they would go back to New Spain
and sell their slaves to settlers there. On one of their trips they were held up by the Mexican port
of San Juan de Ulua in which they

The International Criminal Court ( Icc )
Introduction: The international criminal court (ICC) is an unalike international organization, as it
deals with individuals of the state parties and non state parties both. The Court among its wide
prospects prosecutes individuals, accepts communications and complaints from them, and also
allows for an independent official to initiate prosecution. But, independent officials in international
organizations always have a controversial position given the fact that they have autonomy and
authority to act independently creating a probable threat to the national sovereignty of the member
nations. In addition, here the statute also had the proposal to keep the court under the purview of a
political institution (Security Council) which was also... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, after serious discussions, criticism, and alterations the proprio motu power in the end must
required a pre authorization from the Trial Chambers and was also subjected to a judicial
review. Therefore, the court since its existence from 2002 could only open investigation against
seven countries so far namely; the Democratic Republican of Congo (DRC), Uganda, the Central
African Republic (CAR), Sudan, Kenya, Libya, and Cote d Ivoire. Even when in the initial 4
years of the court, it was cluttered with 1,732 communications from 132 countries related to
situations in 139 countries. The DRC was the first country against which the prosecutor used his
proprio motu powers to initiate an investigation, although DRC then referred itself to the court.
Seven years later, the prosecutor actually used his powers against Kenya to finally be able to
initiate an investigation and put to use the trigger mechanism. The seeds of 2007 were seeped
deep back during the general elections of 2002 in Kenya, where the National Rainbow Coalition
(NaRC) led by Mwai Kibaki of Party of National Unity (PNU) promised the homeless and
unemployed a chance of being heard and also guaranteed a police reform if they would have been

First Nations Colonialism
One of the ways of getting rid of First Nation s problems to their knowledge was to massacre all
the buffalo bisons, because they were a great source of food to Aboriginals. The word that comes to
mind is ecocide where humans were in charge and responsible of eliminating millions of buffalo s
that led to their extinction for some time. Bison huntingled to mass starvation for Aboriginals.
Without the Bisons that held a spiritual value and component, the ceremonies lost their strength.
Children were taken away from their parents and were put in residential schoolwhere children had
to grow up with Christian values and European standards in order to become civilized. Even though

It shows how not knowing of one thing leads to extinction of a particular type of specie that is
beneficial to the environment. Every specie balances the ecosystem in a way and by disappearing
of one, our nature and environment would be unbalanced. Based on the two stories reviewed, there
is a connection between the extinction of curlews, Bison buffalos, First Nations due to colonization
that came with its own violence and ignorance. Colonialism in many ways has transformed the
society and nature. However, what is inevitable is the destruction of First Nations culture, tradition,
and even their race to the disappearance of some species such as curlews and bisons. Overhunting,
habitat destruction, and eugenicism are what at most cases colonialism has brought to North
America and some other parts of the world. However, what colonization has taught humans is that
there is a limit to every source, whether water, trees, plants, or a particular type of specie which
could be a particular tradition or culture that could be forgotten. In order to survive leaving, it is
important to protect environment, prevent destroying it. and it is because humans are the keystone

Personal Crime Analysis
Personal Crime Analysis
Personal crimes are crimes committed against a person, which affects the victim in a personal way.
Personal crimes consist of homicide, assault, battery, mayhem, rape, and statutory rape. This paper
will identify, define, and differentiate these types of personal crimes.
Homicide is the killing of one human being by another human being (Schmalleger Dolatowski,
2010). There are three different types of homicide, which are justifiable, excusable, and criminal.
Common law puts criminal homicide into two groups: murder and manslaughter. The Model Penal
Code categorizes criminal homicide into murder, manslaughter, and negligent homicide.
Justifiable homicides are legal killings acceptable by law, and society.... Show more content on

(1) Murders that is premeditated and committed willfully and deliberately. (2) Murders committed
during perpetration or attempted perpetration of an enumerated felony, such as arson, rape, robbery,
or burglary; and (3) all other types of murder (Schmalleger Dolatowski, 2010)
Manslaughter is the second form of homocide and is defined as the unlawful killing of an
individual without premeditiation and malice. If there was no intent to cause death or bodily harm
that is likely to cause death, but the person that caused the death was negligent then it is considered
manslaughter. There are two types of manslaughter and they are called voluntary and involuntary.
Voluntary manslaughter involves killing in the heat of passion, in self defense, or while commiting
a felony. These are all instances in which the offender had no prior intent to kill. The circumstances
caused a reasonable person to act in manner of being emotionally disturbed. Involuntary
manslaughter is the unintentional killing of an individual during a lawful act. An individual
charged with involuntary manslaughter can still be held criminally liable because of criminal
negligence but not to the degree of murder. An example of involuntary manslaughter would be a
lifeguard that failed to attempt to save a person drowning while he or she was on duty.
Negligent homicide are untentional killins that may constitute involuntary

Summary Of Carolyn Kizer s Bitch
Arguably, poetry could be considered one of the biggest mediums artists use to express
themselves to an audience. Everyday, radio stations play hundreds of poems to listeners who
feel direct connections to what they hear. A great poet can write a piece, while never having met
it s reader, that poem will leave the reader feeling as if it were written for them. Pulitzer Prize
Winner Carolyn Kizer, wrote poems that connected with millions of women during the 1960 s,
70 s and 80 s. During a time, when women were not to be taken seriously, she was considered
one of the first feminists and spread her messages to readers from all walks of life. One piece
Kizer wrote late in her career entitled, Bitch , describes a person s feelings towards an ex lover
as they run into each other years later. If Kizer was attempting to give readers a deeper
understanding on the inner struggles that a female faces during her interpersonal relationship with
a former partner, then I think she has succeeded. The poems point of view has readers following

line I say to the bitch inside me, don t start growling (Kizer 2), yet externally the woman only

(Kizer 5) I think these two lines are spot on because when one runs into an ex years later internal
instinct will have them relive moments in the past and why it didn t work or what left them hurt.
Yet, at the same time said person would never want to show an ex that they haven t moved on,

Who Is Wang Lung s Life In The Good Earth

The Supreme Being of the North
During the early 1900s in China, it was difficult for people of the lower class to rise out of
poverty. It was a time where the rich got richer, while the poor got poorer. Even so, in the novel,
The Good Earth, when Wang Lung is thrown into penury, he manages to rise to become
prosperous. He owes his accomplishments to the land because as a farmer, it s the land that
continues to feed his family and brings him wealth. The land itself is not a character in The Good
Earth, but even so, it plays a major role in Wang Lung s life. The land is described as a supreme
being in the novel because it brings Wang Lung success and affluence, purifies him and controls
his life. Firstly for Wang Lung, as farmer, the land is like a supreme being because it controls his
wealth. It is what keeps the family from starving and grants them luxuries. The silver he earns is so
precious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Depending on the mood of the land, Wang Lung s life fluctuates. Namely, when the land is in a
good mood, Wang Lung s life is put in great prosperity. The fertile soil gives him great harvest
and allows his family to live in comfort. But when the land is in a bad mood, it s an utterly
different story. For example, when a great drought falls on Wang Lung s village, ... the fields,
although Wang Lung cultivated them desperately, dried and cracked ... when they found nothing
coming from the soil or the sky for them, ceased their growing and stood motionless... (70). This
shows that the land controls Wang Lung life because this drought causes Wang Lung and his
family to move to the South. In conclusion, the land could make Wang Lung live a resplendent
life or half starved. This shows that in the novel, the land is like a supreme being because it affects
a man s life so severely that it is much like an immortal

Sandra Bland Research Paper
On July 13, 2015, Sandra Bland committed suicide in Waller County Jail in Hempstead, Texas.
Bland was an African American, and was subject to police brutality. A few days before her death,
the police placed Bland in jail as a result of traffic confrontation that did escalate to violence. Her
incident with the police is a prime example of the racismthat goes on today. Though policies were
passed to combat acts of prejudice against blacks, there is always an underlying hatred towards
African Americans that continues to manifest itself. This is because racism in its social has not
been as combated, which causes people to continue to live in a continuing era of white supremacy.

Trait Theory
Trait theory Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Page 1 of 8 Trait theory From Wikipedia, the free
encyclopedia Trait theory in psychology, is an approach to the study of human personality. Trait
theorists are primarily interested in the measurement of traits, which can be defined as habitual
patterns of behavior, thought, and emotion.[1] According to this perspective, traits are relatively
stable over time, differ across individuals (e.g. some people are outgoing whereas others are shy),
and influence behavior. Gordon Allport was an early pioneer in the study of traits, which he
sometimes referred to as dispositions. In his approach, central traits are basic to an individual s
personality, whereas secondary traits are more... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The five factor model in particular has been criticized for losing the orthogonal structure between
factors.[8][9] Hans Eysenck has argued that fewer factors are superior to a larger number of
partly related ones.[10] Although these two approaches are comparable because of the use of
factor analysis to construct hierarchical taxonomies, they differ in the organization and number of
factors. Whatever the causes, however, psychoticism marks the two approaches apart, as the five
factor model contains no such trait. Moreover, psychoticism, unlike any of the other factors in
either approach, does not fit a normal distribution curve. Indeed, scores are rarely high, thus
skewing a normal distribution.[11] However, when they are high, there is considerable overlap
with psychiatric conditions such as antisocial and schizoid personality disorders. Similarly, high
scorers on neuroticism are more susceptible to sleep and psychosomatic disorders.[12] Five factor
approaches can also predict future mental disorders.[13][14] Lower order factors There are two
higher order factors that both taxonomies clearly share: extraversion and neuroticism. Both
approaches broadly accept that extraversion is associated with sociability and positive affect,
whereas neuroticism is associated with emotional instability and negative affect. [11] Many lower
order factors, or

A Research Study On Mutual Fund Essay
1.0 CHAPTER ONE
1.1 Introduction
A mutual fund and also known as unit trust can be defined as a form of collective investments that
allows the investors which have similar investment objectives to pool their funds to be invested in a
portfolio of securities or other assets. The fund managers will invest the pooled funds in the
portfolio fund, particularly include some assets like cash, bonds, deposits, stocks, commodities and
also properties parallel to the fund s objectives. Each investor owns shares, which represent a
portion of the holdings of the fund.
The mutual fund industry in Malaysia started as far back as 1959 with the advent of the Malayan
Unit Trust Limited, which was launched by a group of Australian investors. The development of the
industry did not take off until the 1980s after the launch of Amanah Saham Nasional (Barom,
2004). The Amanah Saham Nasional was initiated by the Malaysian Government to promote equity
ownership by the indigenous population. Aided by high and consistent economic growth since the
1990s, the mutual fund industry had grown exponentially until 1997, in which the East Asian
financial crisis (EAF) of 1997 brought a sudden halt to such a rapid development. After the EAF,
the Malaysian mutual fund trust industry has experienced a solid recovery. This can be reflected
in the number of management companies that steadily increased from 13 in the mid 1990s to 37 in
the early 2000s (Saad et al., 2010).
In line with the rapid growth of the

The Dwelling Place A Plantation Epic Summary
The Dwelling Place, A Plantation Epic, is a book by Erskine Clark about plantation life in the
coastal low country of Georgia from the beginning of the 19th century to the end of the
American Civil War. It chronicles the life of Charles Colcock Jones (1804 1863), a member of a
wealthy slave owning planter family in Liberty County, Georgia. As with many plantation
families, Charles was expected to follow in his father s footsteps and take over the family
plantation business. While training for this at a counting house in Savannah, he received a
calling to pursue a life as a Presbyterian minister. At about the same time, due to some unfortunate
deaths in his family, Charles became the recipient of some tracts of land and the slaves that
went with them. He now had to decide between pursuing the life of a planter and supporting his
family or following his calling to be a minister. He chose a rather difficult path, he was going to
become a minister and bring the gospel and Christianity to the slaves on his plantations and
those of his neighbors while managing a profitable plantation business. The purpose of this
essay is to discuss the hypocrisy that Charles Colcock Jones developed as he tried to find a
balance between these two contradictory careers. Even before Charles had left the plantation, he
became aware of a perceived difference between the white world and the world of the slaves, a
difference that would be used as an ideological tool to provide justification for the

Hiv And How Is It Different From Hiv ( Human...
What exactly is AIDS and how is it different from HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus)? AIDS
is a severe form of HIV in which someone s immune system is completely destroyed; HIV is a
virus that affects the immune system. In other words, you can have HIV without AIDS, but if you
have AIDS, then you automatically have HIV. The origin of HIV is disputed between scientists;
some have theorized that it was passed down from apes and somehow transferred between
humans. HIV attacks the bloodstream and eliminates the body s CD4 cells, which essential for
countering diseases and infections. Without these cells, the human body is vulnerable to viruses
and diseases. Once inside one s body, the HIV virus first replicates and spreads itself using the
CD4 cells; then the CD4 cells are destroyed. Once the CD4 have been destroyed, a person s
immune systemhas been greatly weakened that even a simple cold or fever can nearly kill them.
Due to this, the human body cannot counter diseases and illnesses due to the destruction of the
CD4 cells and the weakened state of the immune system.
HIV and AIDS is spread and contracted by humans in a variety of ways. HIV/AIDS is spread when
bodily fluids, such as saliva, breast milk, and blood, are exchanged from human to human. These
body fluids are exchanged through human contact, blood transfers, or sharing medical equipment.
Scientists have discovered that HIV/AIDS is very common among lesbian and homosexual couples;

Travels Of A T-Shirt In The Global Economy Summary
Pietra Rivoli, the author of The Travels of a T Shirt in the Global Economy, utilized her personal
investigation of how the t shirt was created (Rivoli, X). By her putting herself in the different
locations where the shirt process is made, truly provides an eye opening view on the situation.
Rivoli saw how researches would simply collect statistical data but not have personal observations
on what was happening. There are many people who are looking at sweatshops from afar and
assuming only negative aspects about them. Granted, while sweatshops by all means are not a
luxurious work environments, there are components that the economic and politic data is not able
to fully capture. Throughout Rivoli s book, there is the central theme that poorer countries could
be relatively improved by the opportunities that they are provided with the jobs in the process of
manufacturing a shirt. Rivoli sections her book off into 5 parts due to chronologically following

There are women who are forced to work everyday of the week at long hours and earning a low

seem to be nonexistent. With that being said, Rivoli presents the other side of what will occur
as the result of globalization. One outlook could be from a business one: the shirts are cheaper
because there is more work that is being down, the consumers will be pleased that they do not
have to pay more for their shirt (90). However, a critic might look at the conditions that the people
who were at the factors had to face and see that they were denied justice and their personal rights

Kingsman The Secret Service Analysis
I ve always been drawn towards philosophical issues. For example, is civilization a part of nature?
Well, one answer may come from a recent film that has unsettled me in this topic. In Kingsman: The
Secret Service, the character Valentine calls humans a virus and the Earth the host. He concludes
that the host kills the virus, or the virus kills the host. I disagree with Valentine, and here is why.
When most people hear the word nature, they do not think of a thriving metropolitan city. But I do.
This is because I think of civilized cities as ecosystems just as rainforests or the Coral Reefs are
thought of. Think of it this way: Buildings are like trees; they provide shelter and shade. Sewers
are like aquifers; they transport water for everyone.

Positive Aspects Of Immigration In Society
IMMIGRATION BENEFITS SOCIETY
Since the Human evolution, people have migrated from one place to another new place in search
of food and better shelter. The reason of migration has changed since decades, the purpose of
migration nowadays is to have better lifestyle, education, explore world, business opportunities and
to have safe place to live. As for the definition of the key concepts there are various interpretations
for migration. However, for the purpose this essay, immigration is a phenomenon where people
move from one country to another to reside there permanently, whereas, a society refers to a
process where a group of people with similar preferences of interests and motives, from different
cultures, ethics, languages, races reside in one community. Immigration directly affects the life of
people in the society and in the country as well. There are more positive aspects of immigration in

Should Donald Trump Be President?

Change In America
Change in America has constantly been occurring since we first colonized into this country. Since
then, plenty of people have made tons of changes for the sake of our country to move forward as a
whole. The changes made take a great deal of effort, and the people making these changes dedicate
so much time and effort. The people involved in the changes want to help themselves, a group or
section of people, or just want to change the society as a whole. Some people want to make change
to something they believe in or something that is unfair in their opinion, and this will benefit
themselves and others. Throughout the history of America, women have struggled with equality
and having the same rights as men. In 1870, the 15th amendment was passed,... Show more content

These people don t look at one small piece of the puzzle they look at all of America, and see the
big picture. They look at how to help America move foreward to be it s best. President Obama
has not only helped groups but also helped change society. Obama has been the most progressive
president in allowing LGBT community member join his administration, he is hoping for future
presidents to continue this by having more LGBT members in politics. Transgender people can
now legally change their gender so they can be correctly identified. The Don t Ask, DOn t Tell
was repealed, and now LGBT people can join in the military if the please. Another societal
change was with the Farm to Table movement. The first farm to table restaurant have dated back
to the 70s, but just recently it s caught on. This is a big society change with the organic movement
too. This can help a lot of things including: people s health, small local farms, and pollution. Since
restaurants will be using locally sourced food we know where they came from and how it got onto
your plate. We also cut down our carbon footprint, because shipping from 100 miles away is better
for the environment than shipping from 15,000 miles. This also helps with the small farm business,
because this goes right into the farmers pockets helping them economically. Theodore Roosevelt

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Metal Matrix Composites
Metal matrix composites (MMCs) has better properties than unreinforced alloys. Among many
inexpensive MMCs, Al B4C can be obtained as a byproduct from solid wastes(Coal Combustion

Using Porous Asphalt Surface Surfaces
scuffing, mixes are typically designed with polymer modified binders. Fibers are often added to
the mix to reduce drain down. Many states have a specification for open graded friction courses
and asphalt treated permeable bases that may be used in specifying mixes for porous asphalt
pavements. (U.S. Department of Transportation, 2015). An added advantage to using porous
asphalt is that it does not need proprietary ingredients. It also does not require the contractor to
have special paving equipment or skills other than those needed to place normal asphalt. With
the proper information, most asphalt plants can easily prepare the mix and general paving
contractors can install it. State specifications should be checked to see if they abide by the key
properties shown in Table 1. Table 1. Normal properties and characteristics of asphalt surface

Iron Maiden Research Paper
The Iron Maiden The iron maiden was possibly the most brutal method of torture that ever
existed. The device is an instrument of torture and a death instrument as well. One of the worst
parts in the torture device is the fact that the victim wouldn t be killed instantly but instead
bleeds out over a period of hours, maybe for the unlucky victims, days. Not only did the victim
have spikes jabbing into his or her body, but the device was designed to keep the victim in a
closed and confined space to increase the already horrendous torture that consists inside of the
maiden. Those are some features that makes the iron maiden as horrendous and terrible to the
victim inside. The iron maiden, as bad as it already is, it gets worse. The spikes were short so
the torture wouldn t be instantly fatal and the victim would take longer to bleed out than if the
spikes were longer. Also, the spikes were carefully placed so the spikes would pierce the victim s
eyes and organs. The device opened with two doors, which the victim would back into the device.
One door had eight spikes and the other door featured thirteen spikes. One function of the maiden is
it could open and close without letting the victim out of the device. Those were the basics of the

device would open. The device was very detailed and every part of the instrument would have to

love, because both emphasize one character s devotion lovetowards another character. In this case,
Mrs. Havisham loves Estella, and wishes that she finds love; whereas the latter quote presents

Theme Of Dreams In A Raisin In The Sun
What happens to a dream deferred? In Lorraine Hansberry s play A Raisin in the Sun , dreams
are often challenged and sometimes even deferred. The characters are faced with challenges
that delay them from living the life they want and achieving their dreams. Walter Younger, the
father of the family, is an envious, hopeless, and immature colored man living in Southside
Chicago during the 1950s. He has multiple sub dreams throughout the play, but his overall hope
seems to be a comfortable life for his family. Walter has not achieved his dream for a happy
family because of his actions and personality. One reason that Walter does not achieve his dream
is the fact that he is envious. For example, Walter s job as a chauffeur requires him to drive
around rich, white men all day. He recalls that when he is downtown he passes ...them cool, quiet
looking restaurants where them white boys are sitting back and talking bout things...sitting there
turning deals worth millions of dollars...sometimes I see guys that don t look much older than
me (Hansberry 74). This shows that he wishes he had the life of a successful businessman
instead of a chauffeur. Moreover, Walter is jealous of George Murchison, who has an interest in
Walter s sister, Beneatha. He insults Murchison by saying I know ain t nothing in this world as
busy as you colored college boys with your fraternity pins and white shoes (Hansberry 84). This
implies that Walter wishes he had the life George had, and has to

What Is The Main Issue In To Kill A Mockingbird
To Kill a Mockingbird is a book about the struggles and many issues that happened in the south
when racism was very big, and is seen through the eyes of a young girl. One of the issues Scout
doesn t understand is the idea of racism. The Ku Klux Klan was very popular during the time
period that the book takes place. Many events that took place in the book could have easily been
influenced by the Ku Klux Klan. It also explains the message they depicted against blacks. The Ku
Klux Klan originated in Pulaski, Tennessee. The goal of the KKK was to reestablish white
supremacy throughout the country. Anyone against blacks could easily be part of the Klan. The
government tried to stop the KKK in the early 1800Вґs, but failed. Its members waged an
underground campaign of intimidation and violence directed at white and black Republican
leaders. After a period of decline, white Protestant nativist groups revived the Klan in the early 20th
century, burning crosses and staging rallies, parades and marches denouncing immigrants,
Catholics, Jews, blacks and organized labor. The KKK beat and killed black political figures and
politicians. They also beat and whipped thousands of blacks to keep them from voting, and thinking

Terrorism Stereotypes
Within the twenty first century, terrorism has sparked a global hysteria. In recent years the
group ISIS or the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria seems to be the cover of every newspaper and

Baroque Vs Renaissance Music
Every culture and civilization has been impacted in one way or another by music. Music is a
universal phenomenon that continues to grow and develop still to this day. There are millions of
people who connect to music in some way. Some individuals simply enjoy listening to music,
others enjoy playing it, and there are some people who look deep into the trends, history, and
evolution of music. In this paper, I chose to do a comparison on the renaissance and baroque
period; to analyze the differences between the renaissance and baroque musically and socially. Both
time periods impacted the development of music and social tendencies in a crucial way.
The Renaissance was a period in history from the 14th to the 17th century. The term Renaissance
Music refers to the music composed and written during the Renaissance era. These compositions
were a huge impact on music following this time period. The Renaissance era of music began in
1440 C AD and lasted until 1600 C AD. Through this period rhythms were buoyant, and medieval
counterpoints were further developed by renaissance composers to create fugues. A fugueis a
contrapuntal composition in which a short melody or phrase is introduced by one part and
successively taken up by others and developed by interweaving the parts. Fugues are a very popular
technique still to this day, and were used more and more through the Baroque period. The new
counterpoint that was introduced based on preference for consonance, including thirds and

History of Afghanistan and Pakistan
Analysis
Historically Afghanistan and Pakistan have had a good relationship. During the 1980s, Afghan
refugees used the Durand Line border to flee the soviet takeover of their country. With funds aid
from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Pakistan hosted over 3 million Afghans
at various refugee camps. In 1999, the United States gave $70 million in assistance to Afghan
refugees in Pakistan. Pakistan also became the major training ground for the Mujahideen rebel
fighters who fought against the Soviet backed Afghan government and the invading Soviet forces.
The Mujahedeen included not only locals but also Arabs and others from over 40 different Islamic
nations. A religious extremist group known as the Taliban took control of Afghanistans government
after the soviet withdrawal and established friendly relations with neighboring Pakistan. Pakistan
used the Taliban to attack Indian interests in Afghanistan, however after the overthrow of the
Taliban in late 2001 by the United States and allies, Afghan Pakistani relations became strained.
India views Afghanistan as a means of access to Central Asian trade and energy resources, as well
as a means of advancing its own broader domestic and regional interest. Central Asia is one of the
fastest growing markets in the world; and economic activity in the region has had steady growth ,
expanding at about 6 percent per year(imf,2014). Growth in the Central Asian region has mainly

Tobias Wolff s Old School
False identity can become so inherent to a person s character, they can begin to forget where it
stops and their true self begins. In Tobias Wolff s novel Old School, the narrator and the literary
review the Troubadour both are hiding behind a persona that is placed onto them by themselves or
others. An aspirational vision of the characters is the basis of their personas. Wanting to be more
then they already are, the characters end up believing in the lies told to persuade others of their
importance. Placing the personas on themselves is a way to divert people from the true nature of
their identity, which might not live up to their expectations. The identities taken on by the narrator
and the Troubadour convey that what they are and what they want to be are not yet the same.
In the novel Old School, the narrator makes it clear that his life before getting into prep school
is one he never wants to go back to. The persona he creates and displays to the outside world is
telling of the person he desires to be. In school, the narrator acts like the other boys, not only to
fit in, but also because he hopes in the future he will be like them for real. He is so invested in his
character that he believes his own lies as truth. When deciding what to write for Ernest Hemingway

names, takes it as his own. The narrator reflects on the words and says, Anyone who read this story

Childhood Obesity
INTRODUCTION Childhood obesity has become a major issue in our society. It does not only

how will people perceive an obese person when one is looking for a job? There are many
reasons for childhood obesity, for example, dietary, genetics, environment, illness, and
psychological factors. It is important to be aware of what kinds of health problems obesity will
bring to us. Diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, sleep problems as well as

important then blindly blaming obesity on fast food. How do children make the right decision and

children. Parents spend most time with their children under a normal circumstance; therefore they
are the most influential figure in their childhood. According to the study from Healthy Day

Abstract
This paper applies symbolic interactionism theory to explain the problem with STDs and some way
to prevent this diseases to spread in our society. The symbols surrounding this topic will be
examined, including those attached to the disease and those attached to the sufferer;
The term Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) is not specific for one disease but more than 25
infectious organisms that are transmitted from person to person by sexual intercourse. STDs are
almost always transmitted by anal or vaginal intercourse, and oral sex ... Show more content on

What factors contribute to and/or cause this problem?
Unprotected Sex
Having unprotected sex is one of the main contributor in STDs. Although using a condom doesn t
guarantee that you won t get STDs, condoms are the best way to avoid getting infected while still
having sex.
Multiple Sexual Partners
People with multiple partners tend to choose partners with multiple partners, so each individual
you are having sex with is most likely to have an infection with someone you don t even know. It s
simple math, the more partners you have sex with, the more you will be exposed to an STD.
Having STDs
Having one STD frequently makes you more susceptible to infection by other STDs. Skin that is
irritated, inflamed, or blistered is easier for another pathogen to infect. Having an STD is also an
indirect reflection of your risk of new infection. Since you were exposed once already, it suggests
that other factors in your lifestyle may be putting you at risk.
Trading Sex for Money / Drugs
People who trade sex for money or drugs may not be sufficiently empowered to negotiate that sex
be safer sex. Furthermore, partners acquired in this manner are far more likely to be infected with
STDs than people in the general population.
Abusing alcohol or using recreational drugs.
Illicit drug use can make decision making difficult. It make it easier for someone to pressure you

Community Crime Profile Survey Essay
Community Crime Profile Survey with Questions
The small community of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ is the one square mile home to a comparatively
tiny population of approximately 7,600 people, including myself. I live on a residential street of
this small suburban town where a great threat of danger and harm has never really been associated
with its name. The crime rate on the city data.com crime index is a minute 35.6 when compared
to the U.S. average of 330.6. In the year of 2002 Wood Ridge did not experience any murders,
rapes, or robberies, and only 1 assault, 35 larceny counts, and 7 auto thefts. This is the main reason
why all parties who were surveyed either felt very safe or somewhat safe living their lives ... Show

Residents feel that the youths hanging out is just a brewing pot for trouble. This problem can
be fixed by many members of the community with one major idea, give the kids something to do!
The town already has in place what is referred to as Teen Nights, held by the Hasbrouck Heights
Recreation Commission. The problem with these Teen Nights is that it involves a minute
amount of the teens in this area. It involves only 7th and 8th graders. What about the high
schoolers? They re the ones who get bored most easily. To resolve this problem, the need for
community support is at its peak. If different organizations would pitch in and sponsor some
special nights for the teens to get together, there would be fewer nights for kids to roam the
streets. The churches could pitch in by opening up their basements, for a few nights throughout
the year and hold different functions, like dances or have guest speakers or comedians. The
YMCA program that is offered to children in the elementary school could be expanded to the
twelfth grade, not only providing a place for youth to go, but a place where they can be active.
Also local restaurants can hold such things as a dinner dance every once in a while only expecting
a small fee in return. Another place that could be rented out for teens can be the halls where
Knights of Columbus, the VFW, or the Elks club resides. Another predominant group who can
become involved are

Short Term Cognition
The term cognition refers to all the mental structures and processes involved in reception, storage,
and use of knowledge, which involves the analysis of memory and mind. (Psychology book)
Copious research has been conducted by psychologists on memory and different methods to how to
better recall words. Studies by Atkinson and Shiffrin, Paivio, and Bower accordingly came to the
conclusion that words tied to visual imagery have a stronger chance of being remembered than just
their verbal associations.
According to the multi store model of memory (Atkinson and Shiffrin, 1968) the memory system

This is predicted as studies such as Paivio and Bower who gained results that support this
hypothesis. However, there are some psychologists that see faults in the Dual Code Theory
Paivio proposed, that it is only valid for tests on which people are asked to focus on identifying
how concepts are related (Reed 2010) Therefore it is important to note the null hypothesis: the
number of words recalled by the participants would be less if they use the imagery method then by

The Importance Of Setting In Blood Red Horse
The setting creates challenges and opportunities for characters. For example when Ellie was left
vulnerable and when the climber in the poem Ascent has finger pain. In all different genres, setting
affects the text whether it s physical challenges or emotional challenges.
In the novel Blood Red Horse, the author, K.M Grant, uses the setting to add conflict, challenges,
and opportunities to the story. In Blood Red Horse the setting, which is in the time of the crusades,
affects the character Ellie as it leaves her defenseless. In Blood Red Horse, the author writes, I do
know you can no longer marry Gavin De Granville. This means you will be fair game for knights

American Born Chinese Theme Essay
When writing a novel, whether it is purposely or unconsciously, every author would create a theme
that would help deliver out the message that they want to send out. Because novels are made of
different situations and experiences, there can be many kinds of themes in it. However, there is
usually a main theme that is consider as the most important theme since it is the main message that
the author wants to send out to readers. Therefore, while readers can choose whichever one of
themes as the most important theme depending on the question and the understanding of the novel,
the main theme will still be the theme that leads the story from the beginning to the ending. In the

At the beginning, Jin Wang had a hard time fitting in to his school and making friends because to
the other students, he is so different. Throughout his school life Jin Wang never really accepted
himself and always try to change himself to look more like others to gain their favors. One
example is when Jin Wang refused to be friends with Wei Chen and grouped himself with the
other students because he does not want to be associated with someone that is like him when he
is trying to be someone different (38, 1 4). Jin Wang also refused to speak Chinese with Wei
Chen because to him, not only because he is probably more used to speaking in English, but he
also believes that speaking in Chinese will prevent him from assimilating or make others think

When the words kidnappings, torture, and beheadings, places that come to mind are Syria, Iraq,

of violent crimes like those aforementioned: Mexico. Despite being widely known as a place for
spring breakers to have parties or for families to enjoy the warm summer weather, in recent years,
Mexicos crime and violence has gotten worse, with 40,000 lives taken since 2006. Even
Acapulco, Mexico s most famous Pacific Port has been littered with tragic stories concerning
shootings and robberies. Cancun and Cozumel, two of the biggest tourist towns represent some
of the worst hazards. Cancun boasts a population of about 500,000. And like any city with that
many people, crime makes itself right at home. Tijuana, one of Mexico s biggest and busiest
cities, it s also one of the most crime ridden. It s a major border point for motorists entering the
country from the U.S. and therefore makes it a large target for gangs and drug empires to create...

Without insurance company, the market is at equilibrium at point A. So, at that point people would
not mind preferring selecting public care. But with copayment health insurance, consumers pay the
lower price of P2 and quantity increases to Q2. Since payment is also done by the insurance
company then people seek better quality of services which is provided by privatized health care.
So, Its demand increases in the country. But not all have insurance and cannot afford expensive
private care. So, it is very difficult to decide and assume the demand for privatized health care.
Pros and Cons Privatized Health care
Private health care is often criticized for being bloated, inefficient and inequitable; designed
primarily for the benefit of private health insurance companies. Nevertheless, we need to be aware
of the economic arguments in favors of private health care system. some pros and cons are

Parable Of The Black Veil
The mystery, curiosity and suspicion that an ordinary old man can bring to himself with only
wearing a black veil. Mr. Hooper the minister with a black veil has everyone interested in what
he has to hide, not only that but also understand why he began to wear it in the first place. This
black veil alone had costed him many things like his wife, his friends, and the children to fear
him. in this manner Mr. Hooper spent a long life, irreproachable in outward act, yet shrouded in
dismal suspicions; kind and loving, though unloved, and dimly feared; a man apart from men
(1259) , yet the protagonist does not take it off no matter what others say about him. He keeps his
veil on to teach a lesson and to prove that the black veil is the item that keeps their secrets hidden.
He keeps the veil on as a representation of not only his secret sin but also wears it to represent the
darkness that humanity has committed. Yet after wearing this... Show more content on

To start, the black veil is the symbol of sin and also proves that no one in this life or any other
life is perfect. After that comes the thought that everyone, even myself, has a symbolic veil,
similar to that of Mr. Hooper, that covers our sins from others. The final theme represented in
this story would be that people should not focus on the sins of others but instead look at their
own sins. To look for a way of redemption to their own sins before they could start looking at
other people s sins. So to sum it up the main theme of this is that everyone commits sins and of
course this is a normal thing because no one in this world is perfect. Yet that does not mean that
others should be so concerned with the sins of others. Instead look for a way of redemption,
focus on the secret sins you have committed first. Because one day, as Mr. Hooper once said, There
is a hour to come when all of us shall cast aside our veils

Its sad to know that nowadays drugs are a common item that we as people intake whether they

know drugs can and will affect not only our body but your lives as well. We as people seem to
do things at first without knowing the risk that comes along with doing and acting about certain
ways which is essentially the process of learning but that s also why we try to educate ourselves
as much as we can so we know ahead of time what we are deciding. If we don t stop and think

Although used for medical purposes that helped people there has been concern over the abuse of
the drug marijuana as studies have shown that there could be significant impairments of memory
and cognition specifically the difference between new and heavy users. Investigators could not
explain the effects of marijuana on the brain until 1988, when researchers finally found the brains
cannabinoid receptors (Devane, Dysarz, Johnson, Melvin, Howlett, 1988). The process of
communication between neurons is affected by the main ingredient in marijuana which is the THC
which affects the neurotransmitters by changing the strength of the signals that the
neurotransmitter have. Specifically THC interacts with the cannabinoids receptors that are high in
content in the brain.
The THC affects the cannabinoid receptors which affect the synaptic transmission because when
you smoke marijuana the synaptic transmission goes down. The constant smoking affects the
cannabinoid receptors by making the synapses disappear this happens because the brain is getting
used to the THC because of the regular intake. When certain neurons are depolarized, they release
anandamide or 2 AG as retrograde transmitters, which travel back to incoming axons and inhibiting
the release of glutamate, an excitatory transmitter (Kalat, 1998). Because marijuana

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Anxiety Essay
40 million people over the age of 18 in the United States suffer from anxiety. My sister Samantha is
one of 40 million (Elements Behavioral Health, n.d.). She has just recently been subscribed
medication to help subdue the severity of her illness. What is anxiety? According to ADDA
Generalized Anxiety Disorder is characterized by persistent, excessive, and unrealistic worry about
everyday things (Anxietyand Depression Association of America, n.d.). Samantha is 23 years old
and is someone who at one point in my life I did not look up to. Now, she is someone I would
consider a role model. There is a 4 year age difference between Sam and I. We were at different
stages in our lives and that made it very difficult of us to get along. I judged everything that she
did in her life. It wasn t until a few years ago that I became open minded and realized that
growing up isn t easy. She chose not go to college and moved out when she was 20. Samantha
has a lot of offer this world but has made it clear that it is not easy growing up and she is still
trying to figure it out. One of the main reasons that Samantha is having a difficult time figuring
out what she wants to do with her life is because her anxiety gets the best of her. As she becomes
more aware of her illness she is trying to overcome it and be the best version of herself that she
can. During our interview I learned a lot of new information about my sister that I did not know

welfare of the workers of Lockheed. In 2009, IAM came under much negotiation with the
management of Lockheed at Fort Worth where the corporation manufactures jets. The issues at
play in that case were healthcare costs and pensions where the workers were over 3,900 people in
total opposition with the management of the corporation. At an address to the workers on 19th
April, 2009, IAM President promised the workers that the union would keenly negotiate for a fair

The core of the matter in this regard emerged out of the decision by Lockheed s management to
announce that it would eliminate pension programs for new hires and would also increase
healthcare costs for all the workers at the corporation s Fort Worth plant. The IAM Negotiating
Committee promised that it would effectively address the issue with the parties and warned
Lockheed against its wrong moves. There were also allegations that the company was planning to
introduce very expensive healthcare plans if the workers rejected the idea of elimination of the then
present healthcare plan (Sears, 2006). In the course

The concept of MSAs was first proposed by Deschamps in 1953. A patent were issued in France in

on microstrip patch antennas like James hall, David M. Pozars and there are also some who
contributed a lot. Throughout the years, the authors has dedicated there investigations to create a
new designs or variations to the original antenna that, to some extent; produce either the wider
bandwidth or the multiple frequency operation with in a single element. However most of these
innovations bear some disadvantages related to size, height, width or overall volume of the single
element and the improvement in the bandwidth suffers usually from degradation the other
characteristics. Line feeding technique of microstrip antenna are also attracted researchers because
of several advantages over other feeding techniques. Since the feed layout and patches could be
etched on one board, it could makes the fabrication easier. The level of the input impedance are
easily controllable. Line patches of microstrip had bandwidth and gain characteristics which is
relatively narrow. These techniques are also suffers from poor surface wave efficiency and the
relatively high spurious feed radiation .

  • 3. What Is Hannah Arendt Brave Hanna Arendt was a political philosopher and thinker whose writings and political views on a series of radical issues and topics were not only considered controversial but also undoubtedly left an impression in her attempt to repair a community scared by Hitler and his Nazi followers. Although her efforts were not on a physical nature, as she obviously could not mend the wounds of all those affected by the holocaust, but merely to right the wrong established by the Nazis by seeking justice particularly from one man, Adolf Eichmann. Arendt, a reporter for The New Yorker, was sent to Jerusalem to cover the trail of Eichmann. While there, Arendt tackled the issues on collective responsibility, morals and ethics, and totalitarianism. Issues that only the brave would dare to address, only the brave could attempt to answer. Before any of these issues can be undertaken, a brief biography on Arendt s life would certainly be practical. Hanna Arendt was born October 14, 1906 in Hanover, Germany in 1906 to Jewish parents. She studied Philosophy at the University of Marburg where she met Martin Heidegger, her professor and mentor with whom she began an affair (Berkowitz, Roger.). • 4. Biography on Sir Francis Drake Francis Drake was born in 1542 in Devonshire, England. He loves the water and can always find himself going back to it over the years. Drake was the oldest of twelve children. Sir Francis Drake s father was Edmund Drake and his mother was Mary Mlyaye Drake. His father worked as a farmer on the land of Lord Frances Russell. Francis Drakewas named after his father s employer which was also Drake s god father. Drake married his first wife, Mary Newman in 1569. After twelve years of marriage, she died in 1581. Then in 1585, Drake married Elizabeth Sydenhan. Sir Francis Drake never had any children of his own. At an early age, Francis started to work on a ship that would sail between France and England to trade goods. Drake listened and did what he was to do so well that when the owner of the ship passed away, he had no children of his own, so he left the barque to Drake. Shortly after that, Drake was enlisted to assist his cousins; The Hawkins. They would sail around and seize merchant ships off of the French coast. They were considered privateers. In his early 1560, Drake was given his own ship; The Judith. He enlisted the help of his cousin, John Hawkins. They would sail to Africa to start in slave trading. This was totally against Spanish laws. After they purchased their slaves, they would go back to New Spain and sell their slaves to settlers there. • 5. The International Criminal Court ( Icc ) Introduction: The international criminal court (ICC) is an unalike international organization, as it deals with individuals of the state parties and non state parties both. The Court among its wide prospects prosecutes individuals, accepts communications and complaints from them, and also allows for an independent official to initiate prosecution. But, independent officials in international organizations always have a controversial position given the fact that they have autonomy and authority to act independently creating a probable threat to the national sovereignty of the member nations. In addition, here the statute also had the proposal to keep the court under the purview of a political institution (Security Council) which was also... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So, after serious discussions, criticism, and alterations the proprio motu power in the end must required a pre authorization from the Trial Chambers and was also subjected to a judicial review. Therefore, the court since its existence from 2002 could only open investigation against seven countries so far namely; the Democratic Republican of Congo (DRC), Uganda, the Central African Republic (CAR), Sudan, Kenya, Libya, and Cote d Ivoire. Even when in the initial 4 years of the court, it was cluttered with 1,732 communications from 132 countries related to situations in 139 countries. The DRC was the first country against which the prosecutor used his proprio motu powers to initiate an investigation, although DRC then referred itself to the court. Seven years later, the prosecutor actually used his powers against Kenya to finally be able to initiate an investigation and put to use the trigger mechanism. The seeds of 2007 were seeped deep back during the general elections of 2002 in Kenya, where the National Rainbow Coalition (NaRC) led by Mwai Kibaki of Party of National Unity (PNU) promised the homeless and unemployed a chance of being heard and also guaranteed a police reform if they would have been brought ... First Nations Colonialism One of the ways of getting rid of First Nation s problems to their knowledge was to massacre all the buffalo bisons, because they were a great source of food to Aboriginals. The word that comes to mind is ecocide where humans were in charge and responsible of eliminating millions of buffalo s that led to their extinction for some time. Bison huntingled to mass starvation for Aboriginals. Without the Bisons that held a spiritual value and component, the ceremonies lost their strength. Children were taken away from their parents and were put in residential schoolwhere children had to grow up with Christian values and European standards in order to become civilized. It shows how not knowing of one thing leads to extinction of a particular type of specie that is beneficial to the environment. Every specie balances the ecosystem in a way and by disappearing of one, our nature and environment would be unbalanced. Based on the two stories reviewed, there is a connection between the extinction of curlews, Bison buffalos, First Nations due to colonization that came with its own violence and ignorance. Colonialism in many ways has transformed the society and nature. However, what is inevitable is the destruction of First Nations culture, tradition, and even their race to the disappearance of some species such as curlews and bisons. Overhunting, habitat destruction, and eugenicism are what at most cases colonialism has brought to North America and some other parts of the world. However, what colonization has taught humans is that there is a limit to every source, whether water, trees, plants, or a particular type of specie which could be a particular tradition or culture that could be forgotten. In order to survive leaving, it is important to protect environment, prevent destroying it. and it is because humans are the keystone species that have an impact to the ... • 8. Summary Of Carolyn Kizer s Bitch Arguably, poetry could be considered one of the biggest mediums artists use to express themselves to an audience. Everyday, radio stations play hundreds of poems to listeners who feel direct connections to what they hear. A great poet can write a piece, while never having met it s reader, that poem will leave the reader feeling as if it were written for them. Pulitzer Prize Winner Carolyn Kizer, wrote poems that connected with millions of women during the 1960 s, 70 s and 80 s. During a time, when women were not to be taken seriously, she was considered one of the first feminists and spread her messages to readers from all walks of life. One piece Kizer wrote late in her career entitled, Bitch , describes a person s feelings towards an ex lover as they run into each other years later. If Kizer was attempting to give readers a deeper understanding on the inner struggles that a female faces during her interpersonal relationship with a former partner, then I think she has succeeded. Who Is Wang Lung s Life In The Good Earth Irene Cho (Haeun) Mrs. Erin Schwartz English 8 10.29.14 The Supreme Being of the North During the early 1900s in China, it was difficult for people of the lower class to rise out of poverty. It was a time where the rich got richer, while the poor got poorer. Even so, in the novel, The Good Earth, when Wang Lung is thrown into penury, he manages to rise to become prosperous. He owes his accomplishments to the land because as a farmer, it s the land that continues to feed his family and brings him wealth. The land itself is not a character in The Good Earth, but even so, it plays a major role in Wang Lung s life. The land is described as a supreme being in the novel because it brings Wang Lung success and affluence, purifies him and controls his life. Firstly for Wang Lung, as farmer, the land is like a supreme being because it controls his wealth. It is what keeps the family from starving and grants them luxuries. For example, when a great drought falls on Wang Lung s village, ... the fields, although Wang Lung cultivated them desperately, dried and cracked ... when they found nothing coming from the soil or the sky for them, ceased their growing and stood motionless... Trait Theory Trait theory Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Page 1 of 8 Trait theory From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Trait theory in psychology, is an approach to the study of human personality. Trait theorists are primarily interested in the measurement of traits, which can be defined as habitual patterns of behavior, thought, and emotion.[1] According to this perspective, traits are relatively stable over time, differ across individuals (e.g. some people are outgoing whereas others are shy), and influence behavior. Gordon Allport was an early pioneer in the study of traits, which he sometimes referred to as dispositions. In his approach, central traits are basic to an individual s personality, whereas secondary traits are more... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The five factor model in particular has been criticized for losing the orthogonal structure between factors.[8][9] Hans Eysenck has argued that fewer factors are superior to a larger number of partly related ones.[10] Although these two approaches are comparable because of the use of factor analysis to construct hierarchical taxonomies, they differ in the organization and number of factors. Whatever the causes, however, psychoticism marks the two approaches apart, as the five factor model contains no such trait. Moreover, psychoticism, unlike any of the other factors in either approach, does not fit a normal distribution curve. Indeed, scores are rarely high, thus skewing a normal distribution.[11] However, when they are high, there is considerable overlap with psychiatric conditions such as antisocial and schizoid personality disorders. Similarly, high scorers on neuroticism are more susceptible to sleep and psychosomatic disorders.[12] Five factor approaches can also predict future mental disorders.[13][14] Lower order factors There are two higher order factors that both taxonomies clearly share: extraversion and neuroticism. Both approaches broadly accept that extraversion is associated with sociability and positive affect, whereas neuroticism is associated with emotional instability and negative affect. • 13. A Research Study On Mutual Fund Essay 1.0 CHAPTER ONE 1.1 Introduction A mutual fund and also known as unit trust can be defined as a form of collective investments that allows the investors which have similar investment objectives to pool their funds to be invested in a portfolio of securities or other assets. The fund managers will invest the pooled funds in the portfolio fund, particularly include some assets like cash, bonds, deposits, stocks, commodities and also properties parallel to the fund s objectives. Each investor owns shares, which represent a portion of the holdings of the fund. The mutual fund industry in Malaysia started as far back as 1959 with the advent of the Malayan Unit Trust Limited, which was launched by a group of Australian investors. The development of the industry did not take off until the 1980s after the launch of Amanah Saham Nasional (Barom, 2004). The Amanah Saham Nasional was initiated by the Malaysian Government to promote equity ownership by the indigenous population. Aided by high and consistent economic growth since the 1990s, the mutual fund industry had grown exponentially until 1997, in which the East Asian financial crisis (EAF) of 1997 brought a sudden halt to such a rapid development. After the EAF, the Malaysian mutual fund trust industry has experienced a solid recovery. This can be reflected in the number of management companies that steadily increased from 13 in the mid 1990s to 37 in the early 2000s (Saad et al., 2010). In line with the rapid growth of the ... • 14. The Dwelling Place A Plantation Epic Summary The Dwelling Place, A Plantation Epic, is a book by Erskine Clark about plantation life in the coastal low country of Georgia from the beginning of the 19th century to the end of the American Civil War. It chronicles the life of Charles Colcock Jones (1804 1863), a member of a wealthy slave owning planter family in Liberty County, Georgia. As with many plantation families, Charles was expected to follow in his father s footsteps and take over the family plantation business. While training for this at a counting house in Savannah, he received a calling to pursue a life as a Presbyterian minister. At about the same time, due to some unfortunate deaths in his family, Charles became the recipient of some tracts of land and the slaves that went with them. He now had to decide between pursuing the life of a planter and supporting his family or following his calling to be a minister. He chose a rather difficult path, he was going to become a minister and bring the gospel and Christianity to the slaves on his plantations and those of his neighbors while managing a profitable plantation business. The purpose of this essay is to discuss the hypocrisy that Charles Colcock Jones developed as he tried to find a balance between these two contradictory careers. Even before Charles had left the plantation, he became aware of a perceived difference between the white world and the world of the slaves, a difference that would be used as an ideological tool to provide justification for the ... AIDS is a severe form of HIV in which someone s immune system is completely destroyed; HIV is a virus that affects the immune system. In other words, you can have HIV without AIDS, but if you have AIDS, then you automatically have HIV. The origin of HIV is disputed between scientists; some have theorized that it was passed down from apes and somehow transferred between humans. HIV attacks the bloodstream and eliminates the body s CD4 cells, which essential for countering diseases and infections. Without these cells, the human body is vulnerable to viruses and diseases. Once inside one s body, the HIV virus first replicates and spreads itself using the CD4 cells; then the CD4 cells are destroyed. Once the CD4 have been destroyed, a person s immune systemhas been greatly weakened that even a simple cold or fever can nearly kill them. Due to this, the human body cannot counter diseases and illnesses due to the destruction of the CD4 cells and the weakened state of the immune system. HIV and AIDS is spread and contracted by humans in a variety of ways. HIV/AIDS is spread when bodily fluids, such as saliva, breast milk, and blood, are exchanged from human to human. He concludes that the host kills the virus, or the virus kills the host. I disagree with Valentine, and here is why. When most people hear the word nature, they do not think of a thriving metropolitan city. But I do. Some individuals simply enjoy listening to music, others enjoy playing it, and there are some people who look deep into the trends, history, and evolution of music. In this paper, I chose to do a comparison on the renaissance and baroque period; to analyze the differences between the renaissance and baroque musically and socially. Both time periods impacted the development of music and social tendencies in a crucial way. The Renaissance was a period in history from the 14th to the 17th century. The term Renaissance Music refers to the music composed and written during the Renaissance era. These compositions were a huge impact on music following this time period. The Renaissance era of music began in 1440 C AD and lasted until 1600 C AD. In Tobias Wolff s novel Old School, the narrator and the literary review the Troubadour both are hiding behind a persona that is placed onto them by themselves or others. An aspirational vision of the characters is the basis of their personas. Placing the personas on themselves is a way to divert people from the true nature of their identity, which might not live up to their expectations. It s simple math, the more partners you have sex with, the more you will be exposed to an STD. Having STDs Having one STD frequently makes you more susceptible to infection by other STDs. • 53. Parable Of The Black Veil The mystery, curiosity and suspicion that an ordinary old man can bring to himself with only wearing a black veil. Mr. Hooper the minister with a black veil has everyone interested in what he has to hide, not only that but also understand why he began to wear it in the first place. This black veil alone had costed him many things like his wife, his friends, and the children to fear him. in this manner Mr. Hooper spent a long life, irreproachable in outward act, yet shrouded in dismal suspicions; kind and loving, though unloved, and dimly feared; a man apart from men (1259) , yet the protagonist does not take it off no matter what others say about him. He keeps his veil on to teach a lesson and to prove that the black veil is the item that keeps their secrets hidden. He keeps the veil on as a representation of not only his secret sin but also wears it to represent the darkness that humanity has committed. Yet after wearing this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To start, the black veil is the symbol of sin and also proves that no one in this life or any other life is perfect. After that comes the thought that everyone, even myself, has a symbolic veil, similar to that of Mr. Hooper, that covers our sins from others. The final theme represented in this story would be that people should not focus on the sins of others but instead look at their own sins. To look for a way of redemption to their own sins before they could start looking at other people s sins. So to sum it up the main theme of this is that everyone commits sins and of course this is a normal thing because no one in this world is perfect. Yet that does not mean that others should be so concerned with the sins of others. Instead look for a way of redemption, focus on the secret sins you have committed first. Because one day, as Mr. Hooper once said, There is a hour to come when all of us shall cast aside our veils ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although used for medical purposes that helped people there has been concern over the abuse of the drug marijuana as studies have shown that there could be significant impairments of memory and cognition specifically the difference between new and heavy users. Investigators could not explain the effects of marijuana on the brain until 1988, when researchers finally found the brains cannabinoid receptors (Devane, Dysarz, Johnson, Melvin, Howlett, 1988). The process of communication between neurons is affected by the main ingredient in marijuana which is the THC which affects the neurotransmitters by changing the strength of the signals that the neurotransmitter have. Specifically THC interacts with the cannabinoids receptors that are high in content in the brain. The THC affects the cannabinoid receptors which affect the synaptic transmission because when you smoke marijuana the synaptic transmission goes down. The constant smoking affects the cannabinoid receptors by making the synapses disappear this happens because the brain is getting used to the THC because of the regular intake. When certain neurons are depolarized, they release anandamide or 2 AG as retrograde transmitters, which travel back to incoming axons and inhibiting the release of glutamate, an excitatory transmitter (Kalat, 1998). The union has always negotiated in several instances regarding the welfare of the workers of Lockheed. In 2009, IAM came under much negotiation with the management of Lockheed at Fort Worth where the corporation manufactures jets. The issues at play in that case were healthcare costs and pensions where the workers were over 3,900 people in total opposition with the management of the corporation. At an address to the workers on 19th April, 2009, IAM President promised the workers that the union would keenly negotiate for a fair and just contract between the members and the management of Lockheed (Julian Denver, 2011). The core of the matter in this regard emerged out of the decision by Lockheed s management to announce that it would eliminate pension programs for new hires and would also increase healthcare costs for all the workers at the corporation s Fort Worth plant. The IAM Negotiating Committee promised that it would effectively address the issue with the parties and warned Lockheed against its wrong moves. Native people can either have their history formed by cruel imperialists or generous ones, but in both cases, they are going to be supporting actors in our journey to self admiration. • 58. The Concept of MSA LITERATURE SURVEY The concept of MSAs was first proposed by Deschamps in 1953. A patent were issued in France in 1955 in the names of Gutton and Baissinor. After the 1970, the research publications started to flow within the appearances of the first design equation. Since the, different authors started investigation on microstrip patch antennas like James hall, David M. Pozars and there are also some who contributed a lot. Throughout the years, the authors has dedicated there investigations to create a new designs or variations to the original antenna that, to some extent; produce either the wider bandwidth or the multiple frequency operation with in a single element. However most of these innovations bear some disadvantages related to size, height, width or overall volume of the single element and the improvement in the bandwidth suffers usually from degradation the other characteristics. Line feeding technique of microstrip antenna are also attracted researchers because of several advantages over other feeding techniques. Since the feed layout and patches could be etched on one board, it could makes the fabrication easier. The level of the input impedance are easily controllable. Line patches of microstrip had bandwidth and gain characteristics which is relatively narrow. These techniques are also suffers from poor surface wave efficiency and the relatively high spurious feed radiation . In 1987, the Rigorous Analysis of a Microstrip line Fed Patch Antennaare ...
