A Comparison of Two Therapeutic Approaches to Mental...
A Comparison of Two Therapeutic Approaches to Mental Disorders
The essence of the medical model is the view that abnormal behaviours like mental disorders result
from physical problems and should be treated medically, in other words; mental disorders resemble
physical diseases, in that they are both illness of the body. As a result, the medical approach would
argue that mental illness and therapeutic action should be taken from the medical perspective.
Whereas the psychodynamic approach concerning mental illness put forward by Freud was based
partly on his psychosexual development theory. In essence, the child passes through stages such as
oral, anal etc. Major conflicts or excessive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Drugs have been used with some success to treat various disorders such as schizophrenia, anxiety,
and depression. The medical model argues for direct manipulation of the physiological system
within the body, and uses somatic therapy (a major part of which is drug therapy). Drug therapy has
been used in the treatment of several disorders, and has been used in the treatment of patients
suffering from major depression and schizophrenia. Neuroleptic drugs (drugs that reduce psychotic
symptoms but can also produce some of the symptoms of neurological diseases) are often used in
the treatment of schizophrenia. Common neuroleptic drugs include the phenothiazines, the
butyrophenones and the thioxanthenes as they reduce the positive symptoms of schizophrenia for
example delusions and hallucinations, but have little effect on the negative symptoms e.g. lack of
motivation and emotion and social withdrawal. The drugs used to treat schizophrenia have the great
advantage that schizophrenic patients no longer need to be restrained in straitjackets. However,
they have significant disadvantages. First, as we have seen, they have several unfortunates side
effects. Second, the drugs basically reduce symptoms, and cannot be regarded as providing a cure
for schizophrenia.
This is very unlike the psychodynamics approach to treating mental disorders; the psychodynamic

Greed in Candide
In Voltaire s novella Candide, the main character s newly found wealth from an idealized Eldorado
is exploited by the world s fixation of greed that ultimately effects himself and others as he learns
that money cannot buy happiness. Candide is brought up amongst greed, reared in a castle in a
small corner of the world in Westphalia with the privileges of being the son of a baron s sister, his
life is ultimately influenced by this example of money and power. His journey into the world, after
his expulsion, begins with the notion that everything is for the best from his philosopher Pangloss
that every cause has a reaction (Voltaire2). It isn t until he is out of Europe traveling with his

Eldorado s jewels create ambitious greed in Candide, overshadowing his main concern of
surviving for his Cunegonde. Candide truly believes in the philosophy that indeed everything is
for the best and Eldorado is the ideal place for this notion to flourish but he leaves this beautiful
dream out of spite because he cannot function in a society that cannot be bought (Silver 2). The
very true world he despises is actually the only place he has succeeded.
After leaving Eldorado with numerous sheep packed with goods and fifty loaded with gold,
jewels, and diamonds they are only left with two after a hundred days march that strained the
convoy to its limits of starvation (Voltaire 39). They reach a Dutch town where they learn that
Miss Cunegonde is a mistress to the governor in Buenos Aires and set out to find a merchant ship
to set sail. The Spanish merchant Candide and Cacambo hire to transport them tells them they
must not return for fear of being hanged and instead sends Cacambo with several millions to
purchase her away. The men were to rendezvous in Italy once Candide secured a second vessel to
take him. He finally procures a Dutch ship captained by a Mr. Vanderdendur who offers to take
Candide to Italy for ten thousand piasters , notices the ease at which he agrees and soon increases
the fee to twenty then thirty thousand piasters (Voltaire 41). He soon figures out that the sheep

The People Of Israel As A Punishment
The people of Israel began to worship idols; and as a punishment God allowed them once more
to pass under the power of their enemies. The seventh oppression, which now fell upon Israel,
was by far the hardest, the longest and the most widely spread of any, for it was over all the
tribes. It came from the Philistines, a strong and warlike people who lived on the west of Israel
upon the plain beside the Great Sea. They were blasphemy towards Yahweh Dagon, which was
made in the form of a fish s head on a man s body. These people, the Philistines, sent their armies
up from the plain beside the sea to the mountains of Israel and overran all the land. They took away
from the Israelitesall their swords and spears, so that they could not fight; and they robbed their
land of all the crops, so that the people suffered for want of food. And as before, the Israelites in
their trouble, cried out to the Lord, and the Lord heard their prayer. In the tribe land of Dan,
which was next to the country of the Philistines, there was living a man named Manoah. One day
an angel came to his wife and said: You shall have a son, and when he grows up he will begin to
save Israel from the hand of the Philistines. But your son must never drink any wine or strong
drink as long as he lives. And his hair must be allowed to grow long and must never be cut, for he
shall be a Nazarite under a vow to the Lord. Keeping the promise with Yahweh, she conceived a son

Silence Breakers Speech
Speak Up
When a voice breaks the silence, it commands attention; it commands to be heard. In Time
magazine s article The Silence Breakers , there are numerous stories of people who found their
voice and spoke up in regards to sexual harassment and assault. People should always use their
voices and help others who have no voice regarding sexual harassment and assault. The more
people use their voice, the harder it is for them to be ignored.
People must be willing to speak up more about the injustice that has been deeply rooted into our
society, for it is harder to be ignored the less silent they are; for how can a issue be resolved if no
one knows there is an issue. The #MeToo movement was a way for people to use their voices

Before the #MeToo movement and the Weinstein scandal there was virtually no outlets for
victims to go for help. Sexual assault and harassment is a topic that has been left in the dark for
far too long and there needs to be more prominent action and legislation to help deter these
grotesque acts from happening. New legislation should be passed to provide stricter punishments
to those who choose to sexually assault people. A well known case of sexual assault occurred at
Stanford College where Brock Turner only received a six month sentence for sexually assaulting a
female student there. Turner then only served three out of six months of his sentence (Gagnon and
Grinberg). Sexual assault and harassment is a topic that people must pay attention too. For on
average, there are 321,500 victims (age 12 or older) of rape and sexual assault each year in the
United States alone ( Victims of Sexual Violence: Statistics ). All of those victims need to be
heard and they need the outlets to be heard. #MeToo provided what people needed. It encouraged
people to use their voices and to speak up about what had happened to them. Time s magazine
article The Silence Breakers also made people more aware about what the victims go through and
what they still face post trauma. The more people talk about sexual assault and harassment, the
more people cannot ignore that fact that it happens every day and

The Characters Of Moses In The Bible s Exodus
In the Bible as in Literature, the characters face many problems to appease to God. While Moses
is a featured character in the book of Exodus, Moses faces a great deal of problems that he
somehow manages to overcome, and stay strong in the faith of God. What separates Moses from
other characters is how much he accomplishes through his struggles, which start the second he is
born. Mosesbecomes one of the most well known biblical figures, Moses stands up to the Egyptians
for his people, and most importantly saves an entire religion.
Around the time of Moses s birth, a large number of the Hebrew population in Egypt was
enslaved by the Pharaoh. Pharaoh was afraid of what would happen if the Hebrew population
continued to grow. Every son that is born to the Hebrews you shall cast into the Nile, but you
shall let every daughter live. (110) Moses s mother refused to let this happen so she made a
basket coated with tar and sent the basket, with Moses inside, down the Nile river. To anyone s
surprise, Moses survived and happened to float into a part of the river where the Pharaoh s daughter
was bathing. Pharaoh s daughter took Moses and saw that he was a Hebrew child and decided to
keep him as her son. Even though Moses was too young to recognize this as a problem, it s
amazing how he was able to survive the Nile, and to be raised as a royal member of the family,
considering his, Grandfather , had ordered all Hebrew male babies to be killed. This itself

Character Analysis Of Mrs. Doubtfire
Mrs. Doubtfire is about a voice actor that love children, like to teach children education, and
make them feel fun. However his wife, Miranda, wanted to have a divorce with his husband
because Daniel barely have a job and he is irresponsible to take care of his children and the
house. They both went to the court to get a divorce; as a result, the judges made the decision that
Daniel will be separate from his children and he is allowed to visit them once a week. Daniel is
desperate to look for a job so then he can see his children as soon as possible, but after hearing
the news that Miranda is looking for a nanny to take care of the children gave him a brilliant idea.

transgender, and being responsible for your action in life when having family and jobs. In my
opinion, this movie is more of being responsible with how he lived with his jobs and having
family. He focuses on spending more time with his children to learn and to be happy. Furthermore,
he was able to fulfilled the career that he want to do as a voice actor by becoming a host of a

Does Paying Kids To Do Well In School Really Work Analysis
The general argument made by Arianna Prothero in her passage, Does Paying Kids to Do Well
in School Actually Work, is that incentives, such as paying students to go to school, will improve
the way they learn. More specifically, she believes that financial incentives affect students rather
than little trinkets or toys. She writes Incentives are also more likely to work for students who
need a little improvement to earn a passing grade. In this passage, Arianna is suggesting that more
schools in the U.S. should start providing incentives but that are designed well or else they will
not work. So, does paying kids to do well in schoolactually work? In Denmark, students receive
about five thousand, thirty eight hundred and eighty nine Danish Krones, which is equivalent to

Although she has many good points, I disagree. Students should not get paid to have good grades
and to stay in school. I do believe that students should get good grades and stay in school, but
should not receive payment for something most students are already forced to do. Let s face it,
what student, on the brink of dropping out, is going to stay in school just to earn ten measly
dollars. Some say only students who acquire good grades should receive payment. So with that
taken into account, there are many questions that need to be asked, such as what grade point
average is considered to be good, how much will students be getting paid for this certain grade point
average, how will students get paid, cash, check, debit card, lunch money, and the list just continues
on. A study conducted by Harvard Crimson showed that although when students were provided
financial incentives to score well on tests, the students being paid actually did not do any better than
the students

The Role Of Radical Feminism In The United States
Women have fought oppression in the past, and are still considered fighting today. Feminism has
become very popular in the United States. Equality of the sexes has been accomplished in many
areas, yet equality is only the beginning for radical feminists in the Untied States. The idea of
equality of the sexes has been twisted into the fantasy of women as the dominant gender.
Feminism is defined as the belief of equality among the sexes, socially, politically, and
economically. The idea of feminism originated as early as 18th century France, and continued to
grow with women s public actions to acquire individual liberties in the 19th and 20th Centuries
(The Roots Of The Word Feminism ). For areas such as the Middle East, China, and France,
feminism was a large rigorous battle. The United States did not join the bandwagon until women
fully displayed it in 1848, fighting for their right to vote.Still active today, feminists wish to end the
concept of men being the dominate gender. However, feminism, though needed in certain areas, ...

In 1848 all women in the U.S were striving for a say in their government. Now however, radical
feminists in the U.S have broken off and developed a multitude of issues to solve with multiple
types of feminism to solve them. Whatever positive image the word feminist may have had, it has
been tarnished by those who have made it their own, and I, for one, am content to leave the
militants in full possession of the term. Dale O Leary states in her book The Gender Agenda

hold of the term and twisted it into a misunderstood word, in which multiple individuals find
themselves arguing over. Feminism has grown in the United States, yet it has seemed to grow too

Benefits Of Keeping Marine Animals In Zoos
Keeping marine mammals and fish in aquariums in zoos is stressful for the fish; marine mammals
and fish can thrive in captivity, but they can only do so under safe and secure conditions. These
mammals should be kept in marine sanctuaries. Marine sanctuaries are a portion of the ocean where
the government controls the activity and interference of humans. These sanctuaries are designed for
scientific research and recreation. Fish and marine mammals are not meant to be confined to a
small and unhappy environment, where humans enjoy staring at the fish s home. The Humane
Society of the United Statesexplains their opinion in their article, Keeping Marine Mammals in
Captivity is Cruel Exploitation that keeping these wild mammals is wrong and only for the
public s amusement. The Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums believes that
keeping these marine mammals in zoos benefits the health of the fish and educates the public.
The Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums makes sure education is the top priority
of every worker; they rescue, rehabilitate, and release marine mammals and fish that are
abandoned and helpless. Their main goal is to educate the public about their work and to
hopefully release the fish back into its home in the ocean. Unfortunately, some of the marine
mammals and fish are too frail and weak to be released back into the ocean. If this is the case, the
Alliance members will provide a safe and friendly home for the helpless marine mammal.

Integration Of Ann Based Proxy Model
Integration of ANN based Proxy model in EnKF Framework After development of an accurate
proxy model based on ANN, the next task is to combine it with existing EnKF framework for
assisted history matching. Permeability realizations are represented in terms of eigenvalues and
corresponding eigen functions along with random variables using KL expansion as described in
section 2.2. Once the eigenvalues and their corresponding eigen functions are determined after
truncating terms in KL expansion, a realization can be generated with a certain number of values
Оѕ_i from the standard Gaussian distribution N(0,1) using Eqn. (13). Each vector of random
variable represents a permeability realization. These random variable vectors are used as input
parameters for development of the proxy models. General workflow for development of the
proxy models has been shown in Fig.4. A detailed explanation for proxy model generation will
be provided in further section using a real field case study of SAGD reservoir. The proxy models
are then used in forecast step of EnKF. EnKF workflow starts from construction of a state vector
shown in Eqn. (2). In KL ANN EnKF approach, state vector consists of random variables as model
parameters representing the permeability field along with production parameters. In forecast step,
reservoir simulator is replaced by the proposed ANN proxy model and production parameters are
estimated considering random variables as input parameters. Output spread is

Courage
There has always been times where everyone has needed courage, sometimes more often than
others, and I believe that there are three main reasons to be courageous. I read a book full of
courageous acts, called Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes, which shares the story about a girl who

outcasts and later on, he stays fat just so she doesn t feel so bad about her scars. It is important to

Religion, Private Property, And Politics

Religion, private property, and politics combined to benefit the common good
Religion and private property are thought to be exceedingly influential in regards to politics, and
many political theorists would agree with this statement. John Locke, an imperative leader in the
Enlightenment movement in Europe, thoroughly expresses the relationship between government,
religion, and private property in his writing, The Two Treatises of Government. Locke examines
his belief that all humans are free and equal by nature, and they have the the right to life, liberty,

Before examining the relationship between private property, religion, and politics, it is imperative
to recognize the historical context as to what was happening at the time when John Locke wrote The
Two Treatises of Government. Locke began to articulate his views, particularly in The Two
Treatise of Government, during the Glorious Revolution in late 17th century England. This
revolution involved the removal of James II, a Stuart, from England due to his absolutist and
catholic tendencies, because the majority of English people were Anglican at the time. Locke,
along with many other people, felt threatened when James II began to pack parliament with his
friends and supporters. This was a huge problem, because parliament is in charge with
representing the people, protecting their rights as English citizens, which includes freedom of
speech and property. Eventually, James II left England for France in exile, and King William
and Queen Mary became the new leaders. They signed the English Bill of Rights to protect
certain civil liberties, and in terms of property, the Bill of Rights states that taxes cannot be levied
without consent from Parliament. Taxes can be a direct threat to someone s property; if an
individual cannot afford to pay their taxes, they will lose their property. In sum, John Locke writes

Rhetorical Analysis Of Elie Wiesel s The Perils Of...
Award winning novelist, Holocaust survivor, human rights activist, Elie Wiesel in his influential
speech, The Perils of Indifference, emphasizes that indifference is a tempting yet inhumane
quality that affects the success our new centuries to come. He develops this message by looking
back upon the horrific memories of his Holocaust experience as well as looking back upon the
countless assassinations, and wars that have created this dark shadow over humanity. The
memories of being liberated by American Soldiers cause him to see the pain and suffrage of
many but allow him to have gratitude towards the American People. Wiesel mentions how
indifference is seductive and tempting because it is the easier to not be involved in another
person s pain and despair. Wiesel s purpose is to warn readers about the corruption of indifference
in order to influence change in the new centuries to come. He creates a critical tone for readers by
using stylistic devices and rhetorical devices such as imagery, repetition, and pathos in order to
truly develop his message that inhumanity and indifference are very similar things that affect us in
the same way.
As we look into the Srebrenica Genocide of 1995, what Wiesel conveys in his speech, The Perils
of Indifference becomes clearer and more relevant than ever. Wiesel makes it clear that
indifference is capable of causing inhumanity because we find it so much easier to ignore
another person s pain and despair as long as it doesn t interrupt our life. In just a month 8,000
Bosnians were killed, this became known as the Srebrenica Genocide. The world did not react.
The Srebrenica Genocide, which occured in 1995, caused the death of approximately over
100,000 people. This was the beginning of the ethnic cleansings that characterized the atrocities of
the Yugoslav wars. (The Bosnian War) The world was just watching, they wanted to avoid the
moral responsibilities of responding to a genocide so they chose to think of it as an ethnic cleansing
rather than a genocide. (The Bosnian War) This horrible act of inhumanity is a result of
indifference, it has been one of the worst act of genocides since the nazis destruction of over 6

Dust Bowl Dbq Essay
There were many many reasons why the Dust Bowl came about. I chose the three main reasons
for the cause of the Dust Bowl. In the early 1930Е› 300 dust storms called The Dust Bowl were
huge storms that hurt Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, and Kansas. The land in most of
these states were all grassless they plowed all the land so that they can plant crops. One of the
reasons why the Dust Bowlcame about was due to the drought the United Stateswas having. This
meant there was no rain in the prairies. According to High Plains Regional Climate, University of
Nebraska, in document E, the minimal amount of rainfall in inches per year that is needed to
have an optimal harvest is 20 inches. Also in document E is the amount of rainfall between 1931
1940 was between 9 to 20 inches of rainfall. This obviously directly impacted the Dust Bowl

Characterization In A Good Man Is Hard To Find
Exploring the idea that all men are born sinners, O Connor demonstrates immoral indulgences
entertained by various characters. Readers are introduced to grandmother, an elderly woman
whose consistent unscrupulous behavior exhibits her inner motives. Grandmother uses subtle,
indirect confrontation to get her way until she is faced with The Misfit, a runaway criminal who
believes that crime is a justifiable. In A Good Man Is Hard To Find, Flannery O Connor uses
characterization to display a loss of morals, imagery to portray evil in society, and symbolism to
emphasize the struggle of obtaining grace to prove how life is nihilistic without religion.
Characterization is used not only to amuse readers, but to also display an understanding of

Normative Theories And Moral Obligations
Normative Theories: Ethical and Moral Obligations
The ability to apply morality to the resolution of life s ethical issues in an appropriate manner has
been the focus of philosophers for centuries. Morality, can be best defined as to what degree any
action or inaction is deemed right or wrong, good or bad. However, the meaning of right and
wrong, along with the application of these beliefs have been the catalyst for much debate spawning
what is known as normative theory. The analysis of complex ethical issues found in common
scenarios require the application of normative theories. Normative theories define the concept of
right and wrong. There are three types of normative theories; virtue ethics, deontological theories
and consequentialism. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These imperatives are the factors of which maxims, or universal laws are to be decided on and
implemented. Act only according to that maxim whereby you can at the same time will that it
should become a universal law without contradiction. (Kant, 2002, pp.37). This foundational
concept is encompassed in the American Psychological Association s Ethics Code and the idea
behind patient confidentiality. These concepts have become universal law by applying them to all
patients at all times. By keeping the information of all patients confidential unless deemed
dangerous by the treating physician. Deontology makes no concessions based on potential
consequences. Thus, it would be immoral and forbidden to disclose any information regarding a
patient regardless of the potential outcome. This conclusion is in line with the current patient
confidentiality laws, HIPAA and APA Ethics Code. This concept is based on the agent relative
obligation to refrain from taking action, however with the dual agency of commitment to the
patient and one s own child could still be a factor in making the decision of which obligations are
most important. This is clarified by the contrast of belief, risk and cause. As an individual cannot

Persuasive Essay On Why Should We Use Animals In Circus
Did you remember those days when you were so excited to hear there was a circus stopping by
your town? Did you impatiently wait for the animals to come up in circus and to amaze you with
those performances? If yes was your answer, you were definitely not alone. There were 330 other
people out of 550 respondents who enjoyed the animal performances best, as to compare with
human ones.
However, recently part of the world had been shocked with the video footage of animals cruelty in
an infamous circus. This had arisen a controversy of whether we should use animals in circus or
not. Little of us knew what exactly went behind the circus and how the animals were trained, despite
the fact that they did give the best entertainment to mankind. ... Show more content on

Feelings of terrify if they do not perform well and anxiety of the awaiting punishments are those
that motivate them to act. These feelings are basically created by regular excessive trainings.
Tools, including bull hook, electric pads, metal rods, and drugs, are used simultaneously in the
training sessions. Elephants, despite their thick skins, are very sensitive in several parts,
particularly under their chins, behind their ears, and around their eyes. Trainers would use these
weaknesses, striking them with pointed bull hook, as their aces to control the elephants. Teeth of
the animals are plunged with hammer, reducing the risks of trainers being bitten and make them
more manageable. Drugs are injected and given to some of the animals, particularly to alter their
moods and to stabilize them in desirable conditions. Carry forward with the effects of the training,
animals are exposed to some effects, both physiologically and psychologically. On physiological
effects, each of the animals requires its own unique and specific needs for diet, health, veterinary

live and travel under same conditions. In addition, the intense heat during the summer and freezing
cold during the winter induce animals to die when they travel from one city to another. The poor

What Is The Role Of D-503 In We

will occur in the near future in consequence to the Civil War. The story evolves around a
totalitarian state during the twenty sixth century, referred as OneState, where conformity and
equality predominate and where all individuals are treated like they are expendable and are
referred to solely as numbers. The protagonist of the novel, D 503, is a mathematician and a

D 503 is a mathematician and also the participating narrator of this novel. D 503 is dominated by
logic, he is an appropriate representation of what the inhabitants of OneState resemble;
hardworking, law abiding and controlled by logic. At the beginning of the novel, he is a law
abiding citizen, which does not question, nor does he rebel against the government, as the story
progresses it becomes clear that the society in which he resides in is not what it appears to be. D

best way for humans to live, in a highly controlled and monitored environment. I, D 503, builder

Clostridium Tetani Research Paper
CLOSTRIDIUM TETANI
Clostridium tetani is a motile, bacterium with a drumstick racket appearance. This bacillus is
pleomorphic, gram positive, short or long, single or pair occurring spores. They are anaerobic and
very resistant to heat and ordinary chemical agents like antiseptics.
Carle discovered tetanus disease in 1884, and Descombey developed tetanus toxoid in 1924.
Spores of C. tetani are found in soil, dust, and feces and in animal intestines. In agricultural areas
human may harbor them in their intestine. However, it s most usually found in dense populated
regions, especially hot, damp climates with soil rich in organic matter. It causes a disease called

In order to keep from discriminating against schools without the financial assets to pay their
athletes, schools must refrain from paying their athletes. Furthermore, paying student athletes
would alter the principles of collegiate sports. As before stated, college sports were believed to
develop competitors who were morally superior to professionals ( Amateur ). Playing college sports,
as an amateur, has long been regarded as a huge opportunity for the student athlete. It offers an
athlete the chance to compete at a higher level of competition, while at the same time receiving a
college education. For example, the article For the Love of the Game discusses athletes competing
at Division II and Division III collegiate levels. He explains the situations of just a few individuals
who currently compete for schools while receiving no little to no benefits. The athletes pay their
way through school, yet they are nothing less than grateful to have the opportunity to compete in
collegiate sports (Shipnuck 1). But more than ever, student athletes are making crucial decisions
based upon money. A payment system would only intensify the student athlete s urge to make
decisions based upon money luxuries. The student athlete s motivation to compete in collegiate
athletics would drastically change. Paying athletes would create an incentive for athletes to attend
college for athletics rather than to receive an education. The student athlete would now be

Kings claimed that they had been chosen by God and were his representatives on earth pore so

Therefore, the kings had absolute power and exercised as wanted.
The same right became that anyone who wanted to depose a king or limit his powers went against

Short Essay On Jimmy Hoffa
Jimmy Hoffa was a character of a man, and a smart one at that. A pioneer in the labor union
community, Hoffa controversially climbed up the Teamsters union chain of command. On his
way up though, Hoffa made many enemies in the business of organized crime. His aggressively
sly behavior earned him as much respect as it did threats, and his work made him more
successful than he could have ever imagined. In all of his glory, Hoffa vanished like it did. There
is no doubt that Hoffa is gone, but the question is, was it by choice or by murder?
James Riddle Hoffa was born on february 14th, 1913 in Brazil, Indiana. He dropped out of
school at a young age to work and help support his family. Working for a local loading dock in
Detroit, hoffa got to see poor labor conditions first hand. He organized his first strike shortly after.
Using fresh strawberries as a bargaining tool, he landed better contracts for the other workers and
himself. In the 1930s after joining the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Hoffa became a
labor organizer for the teamsters union. He also married Josephine Poszywak in 1936, with whom
he had two children. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The USDA recorded value of crop production in the United States in the year 2015 was 186.2

food supply to many countries around the world, not to mention the United Sates. It stimulates and
stabilizes the economy, all while bringing in billions of dollars every year. While these things are
very beneficial to this country, the agricultural industry also depends, at least in part, on funding
from the government through agricultural subsidies. The Free Dictionary (2003) defines

This program, which we still see in effect through CRP (Conservation Reserve Program) land,
was intended to be temporary, but it has lasted as a way to conserve the environment. Although
the amount of CRP land and the way that subsidies are issued has changed, the idea has carried
on and so have subsidies. Farmers today are still paid through subsidies whether they produce a
good crop or not, so to many, it seems very backward to pay farmers not to produce crops.
Finally, as Bruckner (2016) states, ...many advocates for reform have argued that when subsidies
are unlimited, they provide the nation s largest farms the financial resources to bid up land prices
and drive their smaller neighbors out of farming (p. 623). Subsidies as they are currently issued
(without a limit) give a great advantage to the largest farms in America, and hurt many small to mid
sized farms. Urry (2015) says that in the past two decades, only 10 percent of farms are using over
75 percent of subsidized government funding. This is one of the major problems, not with the
principal of agricultural subsidies, but with the government policy surrounding agricultural
subsidies. For this reason, government policy on agricultural subsidies should be reformed to cut
costs, ensure an environmental outlook, and make spending more sensible. Agricultural subsidies
were created to ensure that the farmers

A myriad of ironies, comical and grave, abounded, as Mel had first come to nationwide

Monetary Policy Paper
{draw:rect} {draw:g} {draw:frame} Monetary Policy Paper Objective I choose to research and
write on the topic of monetary policy. My two main sources of information were
www.federalreserve.gov and www.frsbf.org. From my research I would define monetary policy as
the macroeconomic act of keeping the country financially stable. According to www.frsbf.org The
object of monetary policyis to influence the performance of the economy as reflected in such
factors as inflation, economic output, and employment. It works by affecting demand across the
economy that is, people s and firms willingness to spend on goods and services . The information
that I located suggested that the main issues that monetary policy deals with are inflation... Show

Others say that the apex bank would maintain status quo on both the short term rates as well as
cash reserve ratio (CRR) and adopt a wait and watch stance. However, with the US Federal
Reserve slashing its rates by 0.75% last week, some bankers feel that the RBI might consider a
0.25 0.50% cut in interest rates and a 0.25% reduction in the CRR margin.Following the Fed rate
cut, the possibility of huge capital inflows into India has increased and the RBI might take steps
to narrow the interest rate differential between the two countries, Indian Banks Association s
chief executive H N Sinor said. The RBI may send out a signal by reducing either the reverse
repo or the repo rate by 0.25 0.50% to moderate capital flows, Sinor said. The repo and reverse
repo rates currently stand at 7.75 % and 6% respectively. While a hike in key rates might temper
capital inflows, a cut in CRR would release some capital, which could be used by banks for
increasing credit offtake and thereby spurring growth, which has slowed down in some sectors
including manufacturing, textiles and consumer durables. High interest rates have hit growth in
certain sectors. Whether the RBI does it this month end or a little later remains to be seen, private

Erik Erison s Theory Of Developmental Stages
Erik Erikson s Theory of Developmental Stages
Erik Erikson was born to a Danish mother in Frankfurt, Germany in 1902. He was raised by his
biological mother and his stepfather. Erik Erikson grew up never knowing his biological father
and this perhaps this was the reason why he started to research psychological development
(Thomas, 2015). In the early 1900 s, Erik Erikson started to study theories on human behavior
such as the research of Id, Ego and Super Ego, which was Sigmund Freud s findings. Later on
Erik Erison would veer off of Freud s findings about biological instincts, and go on to research that
social interactions are what drives us (Thomas, 2015) into becoming mature adults with a sense of
accomplished identity.
Erikson found that each stage of development occurs and is a building block for the next stage of
development. Out of eight distinctly defined stages of development, five stages happen before the
age of 18. Erikson assumes that a crisis occurs at each stage of development
(Simplypsychology.org). If one stage of development is hindered, the next stage is likely to falter,
resulting in major difficulties later in life. Erikson emphasizes that much of the psychological
development in one s life occurs during adolescents, and that personality is greatly shaped through
the social experiences that occur during that time.
The first developmental stage of a person that Erikson identified was Trust vs. Mistrust (Myers
DeWall, 2014). This stage occurs from

Asylum In The 19th Century
The first of the largest asylums was built in Mulgrave Street Limerick, The Limerick District
Lunatic Asylum, better known today as St. Joseph s Hospital opened its doors in 1827. This
asylum served Limerick City, County as well as Clare and Kerry under the legislative Lunacy
Act of 1821. Originally it was to house one hundred and fifty lunatics , however within twenty
years it was overcrowded, housing close to five hundred patients within its walls. According to Dr.
Brendan Kelly in an article in the Irish Examiner, overcrowding was due to change in legislation in
the nineteenth century where it became a lot easier to commit somebody to an asylum as a
criminal lunatic, even if they hadn t committed a crime . He goes onto say the laws of... Show more

Gerry White who worked in St. Josephs Hospital from the mid nineteen sixties gave his account
of the conditions himself and the patients lived under, he says while he was acquainted with
mice he was never that much acquainted with rats and by Jesus he was never acquainted with
the cockroaches in the asylum. On the other hand he also goes on to say it was a fun place to
work in many ways, no two days were ever the same, a lot of sad things happened but it was also
a lot of fun . Others such as those extracts in the British Journal article A Story to Tell : learning
from the life stories of older people with intellectual disabilities in Ireland gives a balanced view on
the good and bad experiences of being institutionalised; one account from a female aged 64
recounts her hair was chopped off like a boy, accepting that its life you know and when you got a
beating, a good slap and stuff like that you couldn t tell anybody. She continues, they d give you a
good slap because you d be wild and being bold and being cheeky, and how she was only a child at
the time . To counterbalance this there are memories of acts of kindness recorded such as that of
a female aged 69, she recalls she worked with a lady , who used to bring me to bingo on a Friday
night, she used to bring me up and down in the car, her own car with her

After examining the different business formats that are available, it has been decided to stay

the company has added additional employees it will not change its organization title. This

Most people might not even think of Las Vegas as a product , or even they think of it as a brand.
Places are included in the concept of product. Places could be cities, states, regions, or entire
nations. Place marketing involves marketing strategies which contribute to create, maintain and
change attitudes and behavior towards particular places. Behind the scenes, the image of Las
Vegas is created and maintained by LVCVA, Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.

It is the experiences that travelers gain while they are travelling. LVCVA understands that they are
not just selling Las Vegas; they are selling the Las Vegas Experience the adult freedom. By talking
to their old and potential customers, they learned the core customer value. The Vegas visitors want
to feel a little naughtier and less inhibited and that is what their customers are buying. To
accommodate the benefits the customers are seeking, the actual services and products are provided
to the satisfaction of the visitors. Various product features of Las Vegas were produced to target the
adult such as casinos, luxury retailers, world renowned restaurants and five star hotels. Branding is
another strategy LVCVA used to deliver the core customer value. By spending $75 million for ad
campaigns, LVCVA successfully boosted the brand message educating consumers of the products
Vegas are selling. Only Vegas: What happens here, stay here became the now familiar catchphrase
of Las Vegas. This image has replaced the long pervasive image of Sin City to a luxury and
indulgent image. Although this image has been adjusted to affordable and well deserved during the
recession, but the Las Vegas Experience brand image still maintains a consistent meaning to
consumers. As research indicated, people still demand the same Vegas they ve known and loved
will still be there during hard economic times. This proves the strength of the Vegas brand image

Analysis Of A Hope More Powerful Than The Sea
As a normal American citizen, we are not accustomed to being forced out of our homes and
having to live as nomads like the people of Syria have been living like since the Arab spring of
2011 the event that started what is now known as The Syrian Civil War. This war has literally
been tearing apart Syria and displacing 6.3 million people (Mercy corps). This crisis affects a lot of
Syrian individuals including one Doaa Al Zamel. In the book A Hope More Powerful Than the
Sea we get a firsthand account of what life was like before the start of the war and also a view
during the civil war and gives insight to life in the current state of Syria. Doaa s life in A Hope More
Powerful Than the Sea had her moving around the Middle Eastfor most of her early adulthood.
Throughout her moves to different parts of the Middle East she had many experiences both good
and bad. The government, daily life in the Middle East, and family problems that arose during the
moves affected Doaa s life greatly.
Doaa s life in Syria started out good her family would spend days at a lake by their home in
Daraa and enjoy time together as a family swimming and doing things that normal people are
able to do. But then once Doaa s immediate family moved out of the Al Zamel family house Doaa
s life slowly began to take a slight turn down a downward slope as they would deal with hardships.
To make the extra money Doaa s father Shokri started taking goods to and from Jordan for a
business man and this went

Subject:Availability of Corporate Reorganization
Summary of Facts
Chris and Sue are 50 percent shareholders in BackBone personal service corporation. Backbone
provides chiropractic services in four separate offices, in four small towns: Troy, Union, Vista
and Willow. Chris is the main chiropractor in the Troy office, and Sue heads up the Vista office.
Charlie, the main chiropractor in the Willow office, does not see eye to eye with Chris and Sue
on management styles. Charlie is highly competent and well liked by patients and therefore
indispensable in the eyes of Chris and Sue. Chris and Sue may be willing to give Charlie control
of the Willow office, but do not want to lose the profits this office adds to BackBone. A corporate
reorganization seems to be a good alternative.
Issue and Conclusion
Is corporate reorganization an available option? If so, how should it be structured? What issues
would be associated with this alternative?
Corporate reorganization is definitely an available option. The company should be structured as a
parent subsidiary controlled group. The restructuring should be performed in conformance to any
and all tax saving codes and provisions.
Law and Analysis
With a divisive reorganization, BackBone can split off its Willow office as a new subsidiary
corporation that is controlled by BackBone. By placing Charlie in charge of the newly formed
subsidiary, Charlie

There are many people in history to be in admired. There are people that have made many
contributions and sacrifices to/for our society. Sometimes these people are overlooked. They are
not given the recognition that they deserve. Ida B Wells is someone that deserves recognition for
her contribution to society. Ida B wells fought against and publicized the lynching of African
Americans, fought in the women s suffrage movement, and in 1930, she ran for the Illinois state

Women demanded suffrage as early as 1848. Black women founded clubs that worked
exclusively for woman s suffrage, such as the Alpha Suffrage Club of Chicago, founded by Ida
B. Wells in 1913. Ida fought in the women s suffrage movement. On March 1913, as Wells
prepared to join the suffrage parade through President Woodrow Wilson s inaugural celebration,
organizers asked her to stay out of the procession: Some of the white suffragists, it seemed, refused
to march alongside blacks. (Early suffrage activists had generally supported racial equality in fact,
most had been abolitionists before they were feminists but by the beginning of the 20th century,
that was rarely the case. In fact, many middle class white people embraced the suffragists cause
because they believed that the enfranchisement of their women would guarantee white supremacy
by neutralizing the black vote.) Wells joined the march anyway, but her experience showed that to
many white suffragists, equality did not apply to

Social Order Research Paper
In the alleged undeveloped social orders, components of radical political, monetary and social
change are broadly apparent. For sure such social orders have seen significant advances in industrial
change, mass transportation and correspondence, and also technology advances. In many parts of
the world, change of economicsactivities and their expulsion from the family and community
settings and in addition modifications in the family structure and labor market differing qualities is
generally clear (CCP, n.d). In many social orders, the transition procedure from traditional settings
to modern settings is moving along quick without the essential time period for modification. The
same changes that took Europeand North America eras to finish are accomplished inside a range of
era in present day creating social orders. Thus, the transition procedure is regularly described by
disturbance, flimsiness, and fast social disintegration.
Change is an inalienable piece of society. Social orders are always showing signs of change to

Culture Of The Philippines Essay
THE HISTORY AND STABILITY OF THE PHILIPPINES A nation s culture resides in the
hearts and in the soul of its people (Ghandi, Mahatma 2017). For about the first time this lush
land was discovered, the Filipinos have always been proud of their culture, their religion,
customs and beliefs. A part of their culture is transmitted through their various languages,
material objects, rituals, institution, and art from one generation to the next. They, like any
other country had its ups and downs with things they re not so proud of like their stability
financially and with their government. But despite that, the Philippines have more to offer than
just their land and what the land has to offer other countries for they literally are still fighting
their own wars within themselves and the country is still going through turmoil then and now.
In 1521, a Portuguese explorer named Ferdinand Magellan was discovering lands for Spain and
came across a body of islands which stretched across the seas, which became known as the
Philippines; officially known as the Republic of the Philippines (Lambert, Tim). Since Magellan
was working in Spain at that time, He was able to claim the island for Spain. But a few months
later, Magellan was killed during a tribal warfare against the Lapu Lapu s Army on the Mactan
Island. Because of that, the Spaniard did not gain a base in the Philippines until Miguel Lopez de
Legazpi led an expedition and built a fort in Cebu which later opened up the Spaniards to

NHS Core Values
This assignment will discuss the core values that underpin social and health service delivery and
will compare the current health service provision with health care services at the inception of the
NHS. The NHS has seven core values that aim to ensure that quality care is delivered to everyone
regardless of their gender, religion, race, age, wealth or sexual orientation. These values have been
developed by the general public, patients and staff, with local authorities having to develop and
adapt these to provide personalised care. These values not only underpin the social and health
delivery service, but also influence the legislation regarding care. For example the Care Act 2014
looks at integrating care, involving the patient and carer... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This has not changed in the current NHS, albeit more values have been added to improve service
delivery. The NHS remains free with the exception of some charges, such as prescriptions, optical
and dental services. It covers everything from antenatal screening and routine treatments for long
term conditions, to transplants, emergency treatment and end of life care.
The National Health Service (NHS) was planned as a three tier structure. With the Minister of
Health at the top and below were the three tiers designed to interact with each other to suit the
needs of the patient. These tiers were voluntary and municipal hospitals supervised by Regional
hospital boards, family doctors, dentists, opticians and pharmacists who were self employed
professionals contracted to the NHS to provide services so that patients did not pay directly and
local health authorities like community clinics that provided services such as immunisations,
maternity care and school medical services controlled by a local authority Medical Health. The
NHS in England is undergoing some big changes, most of which took effect on April 1 2013. This
included the abolition of primary care trusts (PCTs) and strategic health authorities (SHAs), and the
introduction of clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) and Health watch England.
From the 1950s onwards the scale and quality of the treatment provided by the National Health
Service (NHS) improved, and between 1948

  • 2. A Comparison of Two Therapeutic Approaches to Mental... A Comparison of Two Therapeutic Approaches to Mental Disorders The essence of the medical model is the view that abnormal behaviours like mental disorders result from physical problems and should be treated medically, in other words; mental disorders resemble physical diseases, in that they are both illness of the body. As a result, the medical approach would argue that mental illness and therapeutic action should be taken from the medical perspective. Whereas the psychodynamic approach concerning mental illness put forward by Freud was based partly on his psychosexual development theory. In essence, the child passes through stages such as oral, anal etc. Major conflicts or excessive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Drugs have been used with some success to treat various disorders such as schizophrenia, anxiety, and depression. The medical model argues for direct manipulation of the physiological system within the body, and uses somatic therapy (a major part of which is drug therapy). Drug therapy has been used in the treatment of several disorders, and has been used in the treatment of patients suffering from major depression and schizophrenia. Neuroleptic drugs (drugs that reduce psychotic symptoms but can also produce some of the symptoms of neurological diseases) are often used in the treatment of schizophrenia. Common neuroleptic drugs include the phenothiazines, the butyrophenones and the thioxanthenes as they reduce the positive symptoms of schizophrenia for example delusions and hallucinations, but have little effect on the negative symptoms e.g. lack of motivation and emotion and social withdrawal. The drugs used to treat schizophrenia have the great advantage that schizophrenic patients no longer need to be restrained in straitjackets. However, they have significant disadvantages. First, as we have seen, they have several unfortunates side effects. Second, the drugs basically reduce symptoms, and cannot be regarded as providing a cure for schizophrenia. This is very unlike the psychodynamics approach to treating mental disorders; the psychodynamic therapy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Greed in Candide 11.10.11 Engl 2333 Greed in Candide In Voltaire s novella Candide, the main character s newly found wealth from an idealized Eldorado is exploited by the world s fixation of greed that ultimately effects himself and others as he learns that money cannot buy happiness. Candide is brought up amongst greed, reared in a castle in a small corner of the world in Westphalia with the privileges of being the son of a baron s sister, his life is ultimately influenced by this example of money and power. His journey into the world, after his expulsion, begins with the notion that everything is for the best from his philosopher Pangloss that every cause has a reaction (Voltaire2). Eldorado s jewels create ambitious greed in Candide, overshadowing his main concern of surviving for his Cunegonde. Candide truly believes in the philosophy that indeed everything is for the best and Eldorado is the ideal place for this notion to flourish but he leaves this beautiful dream out of spite because he cannot function in a society that cannot be bought (Silver 2). The very true world he despises is actually the only place he has succeeded. After leaving Eldorado with numerous sheep packed with goods and fifty loaded with gold, jewels, and diamonds they are only left with two after a hundred days march that strained the convoy to its limits of starvation (Voltaire 39). They reach a Dutch town where they learn that Miss Cunegonde is a mistress to the governor in Buenos Aires and set out to find a merchant ship to set sail. The Spanish merchant Candide and Cacambo hire to transport them tells them they must not return for fear of being hanged and instead sends Cacambo with several millions to purchase her away. The men were to rendezvous in Italy once Candide secured a second vessel to take him. He finally procures a Dutch ship captained by a Mr. Vanderdendur who offers to take Candide to Italy for ten thousand piasters , notices the ease at which he agrees and soon increases the fee to twenty then thirty thousand piasters (Voltaire 41). • 4. The People Of Israel As A Punishment The people of Israel began to worship idols; and as a punishment God allowed them once more to pass under the power of their enemies. The seventh oppression, which now fell upon Israel, was by far the hardest, the longest and the most widely spread of any, for it was over all the tribes. It came from the Philistines, a strong and warlike people who lived on the west of Israel upon the plain beside the Great Sea. They were blasphemy towards Yahweh Dagon, which was made in the form of a fish s head on a man s body. These people, the Philistines, sent their armies up from the plain beside the sea to the mountains of Israel and overran all the land. They took away from the Israelitesall their swords and spears, so that they could not fight; and they robbed their land of all the crops, so that the people suffered for want of food. And as before, the Israelites in their trouble, cried out to the Lord, and the Lord heard their prayer. In the tribe land of Dan, which was next to the country of the Philistines, there was living a man named Manoah. One day an angel came to his wife and said: You shall have a son, and when he grows up he will begin to save Israel from the hand of the Philistines. But your son must never drink any wine or strong drink as long as he lives. And his hair must be allowed to grow long and must never be cut, for he shall be a Nazarite under a vow to the Lord. • 5. Silence Breakers Speech Speak Up When a voice breaks the silence, it commands attention; it commands to be heard. In Time magazine s article The Silence Breakers , there are numerous stories of people who found their voice and spoke up in regards to sexual harassment and assault. People should always use their voices and help others who have no voice regarding sexual harassment and assault. The more people use their voice, the harder it is for them to be ignored. People must be willing to speak up more about the injustice that has been deeply rooted into our society, for it is harder to be ignored the less silent they are; for how can a issue be resolved if no one knows there is an issue. The #MeToo movement was a way for people to use their voices regarding sexual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before the #MeToo movement and the Weinstein scandal there was virtually no outlets for victims to go for help. Sexual assault and harassment is a topic that has been left in the dark for far too long and there needs to be more prominent action and legislation to help deter these grotesque acts from happening. New legislation should be passed to provide stricter punishments to those who choose to sexually assault people. A well known case of sexual assault occurred at Stanford College where Brock Turner only received a six month sentence for sexually assaulting a female student there. Turner then only served three out of six months of his sentence (Gagnon and Grinberg). Sexual assault and harassment is a topic that people must pay attention too. For on average, there are 321,500 victims (age 12 or older) of rape and sexual assault each year in the United States alone ( Victims of Sexual Violence: Statistics ). All of those victims need to be heard and they need the outlets to be heard. #MeToo provided what people needed. It encouraged people to use their voices and to speak up about what had happened to them. Time s magazine article The Silence Breakers also made people more aware about what the victims go through and what they still face post trauma. • 6. The Characters Of Moses In The Bible s Exodus In the Bible as in Literature, the characters face many problems to appease to God. While Moses is a featured character in the book of Exodus, Moses faces a great deal of problems that he somehow manages to overcome, and stay strong in the faith of God. What separates Moses from other characters is how much he accomplishes through his struggles, which start the second he is born. Mosesbecomes one of the most well known biblical figures, Moses stands up to the Egyptians for his people, and most importantly saves an entire religion. Around the time of Moses s birth, a large number of the Hebrew population in Egypt was enslaved by the Pharaoh. Pharaoh was afraid of what would happen if the Hebrew population continued to grow. Every son that is born to the Hebrews you shall cast into the Nile, but you shall let every daughter live. (110) Moses s mother refused to let this happen so she made a basket coated with tar and sent the basket, with Moses inside, down the Nile river. To anyone s surprise, Moses survived and happened to float into a part of the river where the Pharaoh s daughter was bathing. Pharaoh s daughter took Moses and saw that he was a Hebrew child and decided to keep him as her son. Even though Moses was too young to recognize this as a problem, it s amazing how he was able to survive the Nile, and to be raised as a royal member of the family, considering his, Grandfather , had ordered all Hebrew male babies to be killed. • 8. Does Paying Kids To Do Well In School Really Work Analysis The general argument made by Arianna Prothero in her passage, Does Paying Kids to Do Well in School Actually Work, is that incentives, such as paying students to go to school, will improve the way they learn. More specifically, she believes that financial incentives affect students rather than little trinkets or toys. She writes Incentives are also more likely to work for students who need a little improvement to earn a passing grade. In this passage, Arianna is suggesting that more schools in the U.S. should start providing incentives but that are designed well or else they will not work. So, does paying kids to do well in schoolactually work? I do believe that students should get good grades and stay in school, but should not receive payment for something most students are already forced to do. Let s face it, what student, on the brink of dropping out, is going to stay in school just to earn ten measly dollars. Some say only students who acquire good grades should receive payment. So with that taken into account, there are many questions that need to be asked, such as what grade point average is considered to be good, how much will students be getting paid for this certain grade point average, how will students get paid, cash, check, debit card, lunch money, and the list just continues on. A study conducted by Harvard Crimson showed that although when students were provided financial incentives to score well on tests, the students being paid actually did not do any better than the students ... Equality of the sexes has been accomplished in many areas, yet equality is only the beginning for radical feminists in the Untied States. The idea of equality of the sexes has been twisted into the fantasy of women as the dominant gender. Feminism is defined as the belief of equality among the sexes, socially, politically, and economically. The idea of feminism originated as early as 18th century France, and continued to grow with women s public actions to acquire individual liberties in the 19th and 20th Centuries (The Roots Of The Word Feminism ). For areas such as the Middle East, China, and France, feminism was a large rigorous battle. The United States did not join the bandwagon until women fully displayed it in 1848, fighting for their right to vote.Still active today, feminists wish to end the concept of men being the dominate gender. Benefits Of Keeping Marine Animals In Zoos Keeping marine mammals and fish in aquariums in zoos is stressful for the fish; marine mammals and fish can thrive in captivity, but they can only do so under safe and secure conditions. These mammals should be kept in marine sanctuaries. Marine sanctuaries are a portion of the ocean where the government controls the activity and interference of humans. These sanctuaries are designed for scientific research and recreation. Fish and marine mammals are not meant to be confined to a small and unhappy environment, where humans enjoy staring at the fish s home. The Humane Society of the United Statesexplains their opinion in their article, Keeping Marine Mammals in Captivity is Cruel Exploitation that keeping these wild mammals is wrong and only for the public s amusement. The Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums believes that keeping these marine mammals in zoos benefits the health of the fish and educates the public. The Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums makes sure education is the top priority of every worker; they rescue, rehabilitate, and release marine mammals and fish that are abandoned and helpless. Their main goal is to educate the public about their work and to hopefully release the fish back into its home in the ocean. Unfortunately, some of the marine mammals and fish are too frail and weak to be released back into the ocean. If this is the case, the Alliance members will provide a safe and friendly home for the helpless marine mammal. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Integration Of Ann Based Proxy Model Integration of ANN based Proxy model in EnKF Framework After development of an accurate proxy model based on ANN, the next task is to combine it with existing EnKF framework for assisted history matching. Permeability realizations are represented in terms of eigenvalues and corresponding eigen functions along with random variables using KL expansion as described in section 2.2. Once the eigenvalues and their corresponding eigen functions are determined after truncating terms in KL expansion, a realization can be generated with a certain number of values Оѕ_i from the standard Gaussian distribution N(0,1) using Eqn. (13). Each vector of random variable represents a permeability realization. These random variable vectors are used as input parameters for development of the proxy models. General workflow for development of the proxy models has been shown in Fig.4. A detailed explanation for proxy model generation will be provided in further section using a real field case study of SAGD reservoir. The proxy models are then used in forecast step of EnKF. EnKF workflow starts from construction of a state vector shown in Eqn. (2). In KL ANN EnKF approach, state vector consists of random variables as model parameters representing the permeability field along with production parameters. In forecast step, reservoir simulator is replaced by the proposed ANN proxy model and production parameters are estimated considering random variables as input parameters. Output spread is ... Before examining the relationship between private property, religion, and politics, it is imperative to recognize the historical context as to what was happening at the time when John Locke wrote The Two Treatises of Government. Locke began to articulate his views, particularly in The Two Treatise of Government, during the Glorious Revolution in late 17th century England. This revolution involved the removal of James II, a Stuart, from England due to his absolutist and catholic tendencies, because the majority of English people were Anglican at the time. Locke, along with many other people, felt threatened when James II began to pack parliament with his friends and supporters. This was a huge problem, because parliament is in charge with representing the people, protecting their rights as English citizens, which includes freedom of speech and property. Eventually, James II left England for France in exile, and King William and Queen Mary became the new leaders. They signed the English Bill of Rights to protect certain civil liberties, and in terms of property, the Bill of Rights states that taxes cannot be levied without consent from Parliament. Taxes can be a direct threat to someone s property; if an individual cannot afford to pay their taxes, they will lose their property. • 18. Rhetorical Analysis Of Elie Wiesel s The Perils Of... Award winning novelist, Holocaust survivor, human rights activist, Elie Wiesel in his influential speech, The Perils of Indifference, emphasizes that indifference is a tempting yet inhumane quality that affects the success our new centuries to come. He develops this message by looking back upon the horrific memories of his Holocaust experience as well as looking back upon the countless assassinations, and wars that have created this dark shadow over humanity. The memories of being liberated by American Soldiers cause him to see the pain and suffrage of many but allow him to have gratitude towards the American People. Wiesel mentions how indifference is seductive and tempting because it is the easier to not be involved in another person s pain and despair. Wiesel s purpose is to warn readers about the corruption of indifference in order to influence change in the new centuries to come. He creates a critical tone for readers by using stylistic devices and rhetorical devices such as imagery, repetition, and pathos in order to truly develop his message that inhumanity and indifference are very similar things that affect us in the same way. As we look into the Srebrenica Genocide of 1995, what Wiesel conveys in his speech, The Perils of Indifference becomes clearer and more relevant than ever. Wiesel makes it clear that indifference is capable of causing inhumanity because we find it so much easier to ignore another person s pain and despair as long as it doesn t interrupt our life. In just a month 8,000 Bosnians were killed, this became known as the Srebrenica Genocide. The world did not react. The Srebrenica Genocide, which occured in 1995, caused the death of approximately over 100,000 people. This was the beginning of the ethnic cleansings that characterized the atrocities of the Yugoslav wars. (The Bosnian War) The world was just watching, they wanted to avoid the moral responsibilities of responding to a genocide so they chose to think of it as an ethnic cleansing rather than a genocide. The land in most of these states were all grassless they plowed all the land so that they can plant crops. Normative Theories And Moral Obligations Normative Theories: Ethical and Moral Obligations The ability to apply morality to the resolution of life s ethical issues in an appropriate manner has been the focus of philosophers for centuries. Solomon Northup is honest to readers from the very beginning of his novel. Northup s main purpose in writing his story was to reveal to white Northerners a first person narrative the true horrors of slavery, therefore adding fire to the growing reform of America s age old system. Throughout this novel, Northup describes the atrocities he encounters as a slave on his journey to and while trapped in Louisiana. Right after he is kidnapped, he wakes in a cell with no memories and is promptly whipped after he insists he is a free man. He calls his experience as nothing else than the burning ... • 42. Erik Erison s Theory Of Developmental Stages Erik Erikson s Theory of Developmental Stages Erik Erikson was born to a Danish mother in Frankfurt, Germany in 1902. He was raised by his biological mother and his stepfather. Erik Erikson grew up never knowing his biological father and this perhaps this was the reason why he started to research psychological development (Thomas, 2015). In the early 1900 s, Erik Erikson started to study theories on human behavior such as the research of Id, Ego and Super Ego, which was Sigmund Freud s findings. Later on Erik Erison would veer off of Freud s findings about biological instincts, and go on to research that social interactions are what drives us (Thomas, 2015) into becoming mature adults with a sense of accomplished identity. Erikson found that each stage of development occurs and is a building block for the next stage of development. Out of eight distinctly defined stages of development, five stages happen before the age of 18. Erikson assumes that a crisis occurs at each stage of development (Simplypsychology.org). If one stage of development is hindered, the next stage is likely to falter, resulting in major difficulties later in life. Erikson emphasizes that much of the psychological development in one s life occurs during adolescents, and that personality is greatly shaped through the social experiences that occur during that time. The first developmental stage of a person that Erikson identified was Trust vs. Mistrust (Myers DeWall, 2014). This stage occurs from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
