grusome study in the tragedy of Katrina Suhan. Katrina was murdered February 14, 1998 in Old
Bridge, New Jersey. She was only 15 years when she was brutally murdered by a cold hearted
ruthless murderer. Katrina s life was taken away from her at such a young age due to a sick
human being. The experience of driving by where Katrina lived, where she was abducted, and
where she was murdered was very moving. I found it very interesting to follow the trail of a murder
as if I was on the case myself. The street where Katrina was abducted is a pretty busy street which

The neighborhood seemed to be a nice area from how it looks now. Katrina had a very long walk
that night to reach her destination. Unfortunately she would never make it back to her house the
evening of Valentine s Day. Instead she was brutally murdered and left to die in a field behind a
bowling alley where now lies the Home Depot in Sayerville. Her body was found by people who
were riding atv s behind the bowling alley in a wooded area. Her skull was fractured as she
suffered blunt force trauma which induced her death. The Home Depot was sincere enough to
leave a space where a memorial lies for Katrina where her body was found. The memorial is a
nice area where an engraved stone has Katrina s information and the usual information a
tombstone would read. Overall I found it to be a very interesting experience to go through the
steps of the murder case. I could almost put myself in Katrina s shoes that night when her life
was tragically ended unfortunately. Tomahl Cook is serving a life sentence in prison which he
absolutely deserves, but none the less I think he should have got the death penalty. I feel if any
human being abducts somebody and murders them should have their own life taken away from

On the other hand, many critics claim that the soul does not exist since it is beyond our knowledge;
therefore we cannot demonstrate such existence. Hume a philosopher during the Enlightenment
affirms this claim under the branch of empiricism, which states that true knowledge, arises from our
five senses: touch, smell, sight, taste, and hearing. Therefore, to determine if something exists at
least one or all of the senses have to be applied since the material aspects of something

style in Heart of Darkness (1902), as he paints many verbal pictures by using expressive words
and many figurative descriptions of places and people. An extensive use of words relating to
colour, is evident throughout the novella. The idea of darkness (and light) is emphasized from the
title of the novella, and continues to play an important role throughout in the story .

At one point in time, I hated role plays. You never know what to expect from one second to the
next. Feelings of anxiety and some nervousness always sprout up when I know there is a role
play to perform. Furthermore, the thought of acting, knowing it was not a real scenario is
daunting. Everybody would be staring at you, and this makes me slightly uncomfortable. Many
thoughts raced through my mind. For example, What if I said the wrong thing, what if I did the
wrong thing; or what if my acting skills were not up to par. Role playing made no sense to me
because, in real life situations, I knew it would be different. I would be able to respond
accordingly, and not feel judged by all of the eyes that were focused on me. As a result, my client
in real life would benefit from our therapeutic sessions. It is funny though, because once the role

open form, there is no set scheme to the rhyme pattern. However, there is a single ending sound
constantly repeated without a set pattern throughout the work. She also connects pairs of lines at
random just for the sake of making connections to make that particular stanza flow. At the same
time, she chose blatantly not to rhyme in certain parts to catch the reader s attention.
There are a few instances where imagery is used to carry out Plath s expression. To cite a
particular example that might lead a reader deduce their own ideas can be found in the last
stanza: And the villagers never liked you. / They are dancing and stamping on you. This
undoubtedly expresses her father s death and burial but more importantly it states a certain
humiliation she faced from everyone knowing what her father had died for, along with her own
rage toward him. Another can be found in lines 24 25: I never could talk to you. / The tongue
stuck in my jaw. The picture of someone being tongue tied along with her statement in line 41: I
have always been scared of you, demonstrate just that; she was fearful of her father. She also
gives an image that provides the reader a view of how Plath physically viewed her father and

Barn Burning Critical Essay In William Faulkner s Barn Burning, the audience gets a glimpse of
the ongoing trouble between a son and his father. The son, Sarty, must decide what is best for
himself instead of standing up for his father s wrong choices. The father, Abner, is a jealous,
unforgiving, unapologetic, and disrespectful man. However, Sarty overcomes the negative actions
and rises against his family to do what it truly right. The theme of this story is that the right thing
is to always stand up for the right thing. Doing the right thing is proof of coming of age, and
showing maturity. Since the beginning, Sarty knew his father wasn t treating people fairly.
Sarty states, Maybe he will feel it too. Maybe it will even change him now from what maybe he
couldn t help but be (Faulkner 20). The quote is stated as Sarty and Abner make their way to the
de Spain house. Sarty is hoping his father had learned his lesson from ruining the rug and will do
the right thing this time around. Abner never learns his lesson and believes the men in the
family should act like him. Proving this statement, Abner says, You got to learn to stick to your
own blood (Faulkner 42). Although Abner believes Sarty is following in his footsteps, Sarty is
more mature than he is and hates doing the things his father makes him do. For example, Abner
expects Sarty to lie about his testimony. Sarty states, He aims for me to lie ... And I will have to
do hit (Faulkner 57). Sarty is not the only one who knows his father is up to no good, Major de
Spain also sees it. Major de Spain explains, He aims for me to lie ... And I will have to do hit
(Faulkner 64). Although Major de Spain is not on Abner s side, Abner s family is. Sarty s
brother tries to stop Sarty from telling on Abner by yelling, Better tie him to the bedpost
(Faulkner 74)! Again, Sarty is very determined to do the right thing, and save Major de Spain s
barn by commenting to his own mother, Lemme go! ... I don t want to have to hit you (Faulkner
87)! At the end of the story, Sarty eventually goes against his family and walks into the woods
away from everyone. This is a huge symbol because it demonstrates Sarty
