The Pros And Cons Of Puerto Rico
I will not pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for
which it stands. This must be the words of thousands of Puerto Ricans living in the island today
wishing that their small island would once and for all become free from the colonization of the
United States. Puerto Ricohas been living under U.S. domination for the past 92 years and it s
considered the last nation in Latin America that is still living in colonization. Puerto Ricans want
to be free and should be allowed to be free; to have the opportunity to vote for the president who
sends its young people to war, to have their own currency, to fly one flag in all their schools and
finally to feel pride in being an independent nation and not labeled with... Show more content on

All of these benefits the island receives still do not amount to independency and the benefit to
govern itself. As an independent nation Puerto Rico would open its trading market with various
countries around the world expanding the economy and not having to depend on the help the
Unites Sates provides. American citizenship could be obtained through the necessary legal steps
and travel between the island and the U.S. will still be available. Receiving the benefits Puerto
Rico receives from the United States has helped the island through the years develop into the place
it is today but it has come at a costly price with words

Neanderthal Evolution
The Neanderthal roamed the lands of Europe for tens of thousands of years. But about 30,000
years ago, they became extinct, vanishing from the earth. (Homo Sapiens Versus Neanderthals).
Only 15,000 years before, our ancestor Homo Sapien had expanded from Africa into Europe and
Asia.(Humans Vs. Neanderthals: How Did We Win? : DNews.) There are many different theories
on what happened to Neanderthal, and how their interaction with Homo Sapien changed the
Neanderthal world. The Homo Sapiens were more advanced and adaptable, and they could use the
resources better than the Neanderthal. The Neanderthal also interbred with Homo Sapien who
outnumbered them ten to one. (Humans Vs. Neanderthals: How Did We Win? : DNews.)But

The Neanderthal lived isolated until about 45,000 years ago they were confronted with a new
species, Homo Sapien. (Human Evolution by The Smithsonian Institution s Human Origins
Program.) Before Homo Sapien arrived, the Neanderthal had been living off the land around them,
and now Homo Sapien was also using their resources. The Homo Sapien were more adaptable and
more advanced than the Neanderthal so they could better use the land. For example, the Homo
Sapiens often lived on hilltops or in higher places where they could look out over valley which
would have allowed the Homo Sapien to watch herd movement and plan hunting strategy. (Human
Evolution by The Smithsonian Institution s Human Origins Program) The Neanderthal lived in
lower places and in caves. Because of the Homo Sapien s advancement there wasn t as many
resources left available to the Neanderthal, so they either would have to move or adapt to the new
ways. The Homo Sapien also had more advanced tools like bone needles and knives, and an overall,
more efficient way of living than the Neanderthal.
The Neanderthal were also built much differently from Homo Sapien. The Neanderthal were much
stronger than the Homo Sapien, but the Homo Sapien were built for long distance running while
the Neanderthal who was shorter couldn t run as far. (Humans Vs. Neanderthals: How Did We

was getting warmer. This was yet another advantage that the Homo Sapien had over the

The Pros And Cons Of Social Contract Theory
Social contract theory, nearly as old as philosophy itself, is the view that persons moral and/or
political obligations are dependent upon a contract or agreement among them to form the
society in which they live. (Friend 2017) Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, and Jean Jacques
Rousseau are the best known are the best known proponents of this enormously influential
theory, which has been one of the most dominant theories within moral and political theory
throughout the history of the modern West. (Friend 2017) The social construct theory has
survived multiple political climates throughout the world and centuries of change in laws and
generations of humankind. The reason the social construct theory has survived is not due to
chance, but the fact that as society progresses with age, so does the laws and what is typically
understood as the norm within the culture. The social construct theory also isn t just singular to
just one particular type of society, but all of them throughout the world, because each social
construct throughout the world is usually built upon a common agreement to abide by these
particular set of rules to keep the peace, and it allows for the society to function in peace, rather
than chaos. In the beginning, one of the first concepts and its inner workings was theorized by
Socrates himself. (Friend 2017) In Crito, Socrates is in prison and he is justifying why he
should remain in prison. He uses the ideas of the Social Construct theory to break down his
reasons to his decisions, such as why it s important to the follow the law of society and how it
made his very existence possible. (Friend 2017) Socrates also goes into depth to explain how
people grow in in that said society and as they grow they start to make decisions if they like that
society enough to stay and abide by the laws or to leave and go onto their own path. If the person
was to leave the society, they would forfeit those laws and the protection those laws in turn
provided. Thomas Hobbes however, is more recently living philosopher than Socrates. Born in
1588, he lived during the violent English Civil war in 1642 to 1648. During that time, he wrote his
most famous piece of literary work, Leviathan. In Leviathan, he makes a number of

Short Essay On The Dodger
In a workhouse in England, a woman died after the birth of her only child, Oliver. Oliver lived in
an orphanage for nine years. He and the other children had very little food. Many of the children
died because of the cold or lack of food. Oliver survived, but he was small and thin. After nine years
at the orphanage, Oliver went to live in a workhouse. He worked long hours for the workhouse.
They gave him only one bowl of porridge three times a day and an onion twice a week. On
Sundays, he had a small piece of bread. One day Oliver asked for another bowl of porridge. The

and terrified to be a pickpocket. In fact, Oliver isn t so much a pick pocket as he is a very sick

Unfortunately, Fagin, the Dodger, Nancy, and Bill Sikes (another criminal) are worried that

when Brownlow sends Oliver to the city with some money and books, Fagin and the criminals

him. Not long afterwards, Bill Sikes and another thief say they need a small boy to help them
break into a house outside of London; Fagin offers Oliver. The plan goes wrong when the
servants of the house wake up and catch Oliver. The servants don t realize that Oliver is there
against his will, and was trying to warn them about the robbers. So, poor Oliver takes a bullet and
left behind while the thieves run away. Fortunately, Oliver is picked up by the people who shot

Kobe Bryant Informative Speech
Before I start getting into anything I just want to say Thank you.
Thank you for 20 years of unparalleled greatness. Thank you for allowing fans all over the world to
see some of the best basketball they ve ever seen. Everything you ve done will forever go down in
history.
Now that, that s out of the way down to business.
Kobe Bryant is one of the top 10 people to ever pick up a basketball period. This is not something
that is up for discussion. But his career is split into two parts. There is #8 and there is #24. The
two are different in every way, but help make up what is Kobe. Both had an equal opportunity to
showcase its case in which was better; both leaving us with unforgettable moments.

chapters in the historic rivalry of the Lakers and Celtics.
Number 24 won two more rings, passed MJ on the all time scoring list and won two gold medals.
Sunday night Kobe announced his retirement through a heart felt letter in the Players Tribune. It
marks then end of something special. There has always been mixed views about him. Now don t
get me wrong Kobe was not perfect by any means, but to you people who question his greatness
and call him a ball hog, Kobe and I have but one thing to say to you:
Did he shoot way too much at times? Yeah. Did he have a way of isolating people by being a
complete asshole? Sure if you ask Dwight Howard. Does he need stop shooting the ball 20 times a
game at this point in his career? 100 percent. With all of that being said who cares. It s Kobe; he s

Cause And Effect Of Smartphone Technology
Imagine; it is 1989 and the only kind of portable phone in existence is a flip phone, which only
the wealthy can afford. Flash Forward twenty eight years and there are four different brands of
smartphones, with over forty versions all together. There are endless options to transfer
information from one person to another, and millions of applications that can be downloaded.
Since the early 2000s, smartphone technology has been rapidly changing at a rate that can not
be slowed down. The successful advance in this technology has done more harm than good. The
cause of smartphone technology become better has had many effects such as; creating antisocial
people, more bullying, people not using natural intelligence, and overall they are taking over
people s lives. Smartphones do not only distract us from interacting with those who are
physically with us. They also give people the need to feel as though they do not need to take part
in pro social behavior. With the advance spread of mobile technology, it is rather easy for
individuals to remain in constant contact with their social networks online. A recent Pew Research
survey of adults in the U.S. found that 71% use Facebook at least occasionally, and 45% of
Facebook users check the site several times a day (Wall Street Journal 2017). People are spending
too much time maintaining frivolous connections online, and not taking enough time to pursue
deeper real life relationships. When walking into a coffee shop or a restaurant,

Symptoms Of Sleep Apnea
When the throat narrows a little or is absolutely shut, the sleeper gasps for breath, and wakes up
very often.
This plight is known as sleep apnea. People with this ailment have trouble sleeping.
What causes sleep apnea
Certain conditions can also promote sleep apnea causes such as bulky throat tissue, large tonsils, a
recessed jaw, adenoids, uvulas, tumors or cysts in the airway, and nasal deformity. All these can
cause the airway to collapse when you breathe. Sleep apnea is usually years in making, and the
pauses can last from 10 seconds to a minute. It can happen at any age, but more likely in thirties
and forties when muscle tones become flabbier, and weight gain takes a toll.

Conventional methods
As mentioned earlier, there is hardly any cure for sleep apnea causes and symptoms so if your
condition is getting quite serious, you might want to try conventional methods for treatment.
These methods may not be comfortable, or may be subject to some side effects, but could be help
for sleep apnea.
There are so many non prescription nasal sprays available such as Afrin that can open the airway in
the throat. But be careful not to overuse them because they can make matters worse.
Generally, you need to be wary of medications, because some doctors can recommend stimulants to
keep tone in the airway during your sleep. Unfortunately it can stop you from getting extended
sleep you need to be healthy.

Ron Gilbert
Ron Gilbert, a game designer and the driving force behind the SCUMM engine, Humongous
Entertainment, and Cavedog , has throughout his career shown a wish for creativity, yearned for
storytelling and has always done whatever he could to develop the game he wanted to create
(Murdey, 2006). In the field of game design, one of the greatest problems that a designer must
solve is finding a way to bring the game he has developed in his mind to his desired audience. This
problem is twofold, requiring both capital input and the invention of better software. In Ron s quest
to solve these problems and develop the game he wanted, he s gone through major publishers,
created his own companies, utilized crowdfunding campaigns, and developed in house engines...

It s the most used due to the fact that it has the least work needed after the fact. The publisher
sorts out the several possible problems and pays for the development of the game. Beyond that,
generally publishers can reach audiences far larger than other means of development. Due to
this, publishers are usually quite picky about what games they choose to fund and develop. As
Ron Gilbert (2006) stated, If you don t come in wanting to spend $10 or $15 million, it s like
they don t take you seriously at some level, Publishers have historically looked down on lower
budget games and this has caused problems in the current era of the games industry. According
to Gilbert, the greatest of these problems is the need for every game to release as a home run,
not allowing for minor successes (Murdey, 2006). With publishers almost requiring higher
budget games and even of those accepting only a few games, there are unique problems with
this method of development. Some of these problems include loss of creative control over the
project and the loss of a portion of the expected audience. Ron Gilbert, while he s gone through
publishers in the past, mainly during his time developing for LucasArts, he has rarely been able
to have his games published due to changes in expectations of the game industry (Murdey, 2006).
If this is a greater sacrifice than a designer is willing to take, there are ways around using publishers
to have a game

Two Differences Of Disneyland And Walt Disney World
Although Disneyland and Walt Disney World (WDW) are Walt Disney s ideas being portrayed,
the two parks have quite a few differences along with a vast amount of similarities. For example,
Disney World is comprised of four parks, whereas Disneyland is only made up of two. Disneyland
cut the ceremonial ribbon in 1955 and is located in Anaheim, California. It included features such as
Sleeping Beauty Castle, eighteen attractions, one resort hotel, and a monorail system. On the other
hand, Walt DisneyWorld, located in Orlando, Florida, opened its doors in 1971. It featured
Cinderella Castle, fifteen attractions, and two resort hotels when it initially opened. Some
similarities between the two are that they allow you to participate in the Disney College
Program, both are Walt Disney s dreams coming to life, the entertainment of the guests, and pin
trading. In contrast, the two parks have different amounts and varieties of parks, hotels,
restaurants, fastpasses, and entertainment. When Disneyland opened, it rested on an 85 acre
property and only had about eighteen attractions. However, some of the rides featured on
opening day are the most iconic ones still running in both locations. On the first day they opened
the doors, thousands of people began rushing into the parks to see Walt Disney s dreams become
a reality. Upon walking in, guests were overwhelmed with all the magic come to life. Sleeping
Beauty Castle towers over the entrance of the park at seventy feet high; however it does seem to
be bigger due to the architecture they used. They used bigger blocks on the bottom and as the
builders got higher and higher, smaller bricks were used. Here one will find shops carrying
merchandise like shirts, candy, backpacks, purses, stuffed animals, and the iconic Mickey/Minnie
Mouse ears. Both sites feature exquisite architecture when it pertains to the way, the castles were
built to appear bigger. In comparison of both sites, Main Street is the road that starts at the
beginning of the park and stretches to the castle. Disneyland is divided up into four different
themes, a few of them being Fantasyland, Adventureland, and Tomorrowland. Each section has
rides that go along with the theme. For example, Tomorrowland is home

Metamorphosis Character Analysis
Bug Man With a hostile expression his father clenched his fist, as if to drive Gregor back into
his room (Kafka, 14). In Metamorphosis, by Franz Kafka, Gregor Samsa s family counts on him
to pay off his parent s substantial debts. One morning Gregor wakes up to find that he is a human
sized bug. Surprisingly, he tried to live his everyday life and not panic, but when his family
discovered that Gregor was a massive bug they were in terror. This led Gregor s father to threaten
to hit him to get him to stay in his room. Gregor is portrayed as a pathetic character that gets

This causes Gregor to result in finding a picture of a woman in a magazine as a friend. This
comes off very weird because usually people do not get attached to a picture in a magazine.
Gregor is also betrayed by his family and peers because nobody would help with his mutating
condition. Pitilessly his father came on, hissing like a wild man [...] If only his father did not keep
making this intolerable hissing sound! It made Gregor lose his head completely (Kafka, 18).
Gregor s mother and father completely resent him and do not want anything to do with him, but
he sister shows some compassion. His mother could not look at him without fainting so she
could not be around him even if she wanted to. Gregor s father was more disappointed than
anything, His father wants him healthy so he can make money for the family. Gregor s sister,
Grete, on the other hand helps him out a lot. Grete would bring Gregor different types of food so
he does not starve, she also would move the furniture out of Gregor s way so he has more room.
Overall, Gregor is neglected as a bug even more than he already was as a human.
Gregor is also betrayed by his family in a financial way. His family has him paying for their home
and necessities. Gregor s parents and sister does not work to help out. Gregor works and earns all
by himself for the family. Doing this for the family should earn him some respect and love

Dreams And Mental Dreams In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
In today s society, people have many different ways that they interpret their dreams. Some people
believe that they give us a view into the future while others believe that they tell us more about
ourselves. Historically, they were once believed to be symptoms of mental illness. It was through
the work of Sigmund Freud, a psychoanalyst, that the value of dreams was shifted; we were able to
learn the significance of the information that they gave us ( Dreamin History , para. 9). In
Frankenstein, Mary Shelley uses dreams and nightmares to share information with the reader on
Victor. These dreams specifically Victor s give us details relating to his desires which affect his
character. As the book progresses, we begin to see a shift in his character which parallels with
these dreams. As the book begins, we are introduced to Victor s personality, which is highly
enthusiastic at first. He is immersed into his studies at Ingolstadt, slowly making his place within
his university with his interest in the sciences. While studying, he is captivated by the structure of
humans and shifts his studies into attempting to create a human being from a dead body (Shelley,
46). Slowly but surely, Victor begins to drift in daydreaming about giving life to a dead body. He
says, Life and death appeared to me ideal bounds, which I should first break through..Pursuing these
reflections, I thought, that if I could bestow animation upon lifeless matter, I might..renew life

Moses Man Of The Mountain Analysis
Zora Neale Hurston in Moses, Man of the Mountain uses the biblical Exodus story to piece
together the black American s experience by explaining a broken and replicated ideology that
has been adapted by black people in America that not only facilitates the continuation of
involuntary servitude but of which has taken on a new form. Through the use of black language,
black rituals and black culture, the telling of this narration of oppression based on economic
class, gender and ethnicity encompasses factors allowing the enslaved system of racial divide to
continue and sadly flourish today. For black Americans, years of servitude of themselves, has led
to a perpetuation of thus this same system among each other. Until black people in America adopt
a new unified system of operating that moves black Americans away from acquiring space by
means of systematic oppression, they will continue to operate according to Massa s direction
instead of walking in a life of true equality and freedom.
Involuntary slavery has never ceased to exist for black people in the United States of America.
Historical records indicate slavery was abolished in 1865, but in fact, contrary to this record, it
continued then and continues today. The enslavement ideology introduced on slave ships,
engrained by white America on the fields, in the cabins, by Jim on the bus, in the schools and on
the job has enveloped into a tragedy which no one has benefited from. Through Hurston s deeply

Critique Of Immanuel Kant
Immanuel Kant was born on April 22, 1724 in Königsberg, Prussia where he stayed all of his life
(which is now Kaliningrad, Russia). Immanuel Kant was one of the most influential philosophers in
the history of Western Philosophy. His contributions to metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, and
aesthetics have brought an impact on most philosophical movement that followed him.
He was the fourth oldest of 9 children in a family of artisans. He was originally named Emmanuel
but, after learning Hebrew he changed his name to Immanuel . In his youth, Kant was a solid,
unspectacular student. The family belonged to the Protestant sect of the Pietists, and Kant went to
a Pietist school. The emphasis on reason in Kant s philosophy is sometimes interpreted as a reaction
against his religious education.
Kant was only 5 feet tall, and very thin when reached old age which he attributed to his strict
daily routine. He got up at 5 o clock every day and spent the next hour drinking tea, smoking his
pipe and meditating. From 6 to 7 o clock, he prepared for lectures he gave at home until 9 o clock.

The Reduction Of The Anxiety
The present document displays the several factors towards the reduction of the anxiety episodes
diagnosed in the Emergency Department (ED). Hence, the design of the PICOT question resulted
after the observation of the frequent visits of individuals (with different comorbidities) complaining
of anxiety symptoms and not being addressed during the medical assessments and directed by
nursing interventions towards an action focused in the assessment, measurement and provide the
best direction of care of the real anxietydiagnosed cases, and educate, control and prevent the
amount of visits with the mentioned cause of attention in the Emergency Department.

Moreover, the findings help to understand the positive benefits of exercise on voluntary
participants, and the exertion of biochemical signal control to reduce anxiety like reactions.
In a third study selected to include its findings to enrich the knowledge of the research topic,
includes a systematic review of 12 randomized clinical trials ( exercise and non exercise control
groups), where adults diagnosed with high levels of anxiety and other psychiatric syndromes
demonstrated less stress and anxiety symptoms during their inclusion in a physical activity
program, reporting improved overall health in all the participants and reduction of the anxiety
episodes in psychiatric patients (Stonerock,2015). The nursing practice is directed to provide
qualified and safe care, and remarkable is the fact that the skills and abilities of the nurses have
their foundational basis in strong scientific knowledge as a standard for the purposes of care of the
patients. Nurses are committed to the best care and responding to the challenges of the actual
healthcare system, Nurses are increasingly engaged in evidence based practice (EBP) processes to
answer significant questions and guide nursing practice (Lee, 2013).
The PICOT question is designed to analyze the population attended in the ED (18 to 55 years old),
with a diagnosis of anxiety and evaluate if the care required is repeated by the same condition,
what are the measures applied to educate and control the anxiety episodes.

Some of the Issues Affecting the Current Marketing...
Marketing communication is mostly known as the process by which the marketer develops and
presents an appropriate set of communication stimulus to a defined target audience with the
intention of eliciting a decisive set of responses ( Yeshin, 1999). Therefore, it is the process
whereby thoughts are shared and meanings conveyed in a convincing manner by an organization to
its target audience for the patronage of their product and services over their competitors with the
use of the promotional mix.
In other for an organizations product and services to sell, the organization needs to develop an

Since marketing communication managers have a variety of communication tools at their disposal,

Media Fragmentation
The integrated marketing communication media are fragmented, making it more difficult to
communicate a message clearly. This is because, consumers are bombarded by thousands of pieces
of information each and everyday, not having a consistent message makes communicating with the
consumers even more difficult.
Cables, satellite and digital television provide media buyers with an increasing and complex range
of opportunities and the internet which is part of the new media presents challenges for all
communications as customer looks for new ways to gather information and make purchase.

When one thinks of the face of United States Soccer, Landon Donovan always came to mind,
however, the true face of the game in the U.S., Abby Wambach, is calling it a career after her
final game in New Orleans against China Wednesday night. Over her career with the National
team she scored 184 goals. That is the most in international competition, according to USA
Today. The 35 year old has carried the U.S. Women s National Team for a long time, and until
recently, was the clear threat to score at anytime. However, she knows that it is time to move
aside and let the next group of players carry on what she has built. Just like she did after Mia
Hamm retired from the sport. Wambach has seen more success than any other U.S. soccer player,

Nike pulled her teammates together for a video goodbye and it is expected that tonights game
will be emotional and be a special send off for one of the sports most famous players. Abby
Wambach is not going to retire and call it a good life. She is already to start on the next chapter
of her life. She is focused on becoming an advocate for greater equality. Women in both sports
and the workplace, and minority groups find limited opportunities, and she wants to change that.
She said U.S. soccer has been great, one of the few leaders out there, but the fact that women in
general make less money and have fewer opportunities must change. She is going to work to
male that change happen. If Wambach has even half the success in the next part of her career as
she did on the soccer pitch, the world had better watch out, because change is coming. While this
will be a great addition for equality, soccer will likely never see another Wambach. Her final
game will kick off at 8:30 p.m. Eastern on Fox Sports 1. Soccer fans, join CDA News in thanking
Abby Wambach for her contributions to soccer and wish her luck in her next chapter. Leave your

Microsoft s Operating Systems ( Os )
Microsoft s Operating Systems (OS) have come a lengthy way since MS DOS; let s look at the
chronological changes Microsoft s OS have been through, preliminary from the first OS to the
latest. Microsoft s initially OS MS DOS 1.0 was released with IBM s PC in 1981 which contained
numerous of other Microsoft products such as BASIC and COBOL. IBM permitted Microsoftto
retain the rights this OS and so Microsoft was presented to the Operating System business. New
versions of MS DOS were available from 1982 up till its final version 7.1 in 1997. Some of these
features improved as the updates came out. Tthe main enhancements from an update were
increased by memory support. Some of the significant structures and improvements were from
version 1.25, which reinforced double sided disks. Next was version 3.0; this version added
additional support for the network. In addition version7 that were combined with Windows 95,
permitted removal of many utilities and had the support for the FAT32 file system on hard drive
disks .
Microsoft signed a contract with IBM in August 1985 for joint expansion of OS s and other
systems software products. In April 1987 Microsoft and IBM released OS/2 and in the following
year in October OS/2 1.1 was released. Microsoft later exited from the project to put more of their
time and work into Windows NT, which was a new OS not part of MS DOS. The Windows OS (an
extension of MS DOS) was brought out by Microsoft in 1983 with version 1.0. This was

Winter Blast Short Story
You know that moment when you cross the finish line and the adrenaline and excitement rushes
over you? And in the moment you think to yourself, Because I persevered, I accomplished my
goals. That is exactly how I felt two years ago when I crossed my finish line... It started on a
chilly February morning at my church s Youth Camp Retreat, called Winter Blast . My friends had
tried to persuade me all morning to climb the two story ropes course, in the barn at the top of the
hill.
Come on Amanda, how do you know you won t like it unless you try it? Nora asked as she pulled
on her tennis shoes.
I just know, I m terrified of heights and I don t want to fall, I protested back as I crawled out of bed.
After more persuasion and pleading I eventually gave in, and we exited our cabin and headed
towards the hill. My nerves grew by the second as I neared the giant opening. We gazed upward as
we entered the barn. Climbers of all shapes and sizes were many stories up, climbing through the
obstacle courses.
The barn was cold and dim lighted. The musty smell of the barn filled my nostrils. It made me feel
as though I had entered a Haunted House. People screamed as the ropes above shook with the wind
being brought in through the holes in the wall.
New climbers head this way! Shouted a voice to the right. I turned and followed my group of
friends over to the man talking.
After all of the climbers were in a half circle around the man, he began speaking. My name is
Westley and I will be your harness instructor. Wesley spoke about all the safety rules you need to
know in order to climb; things like how to attach your harness to the overhead ropes and how to
climb up to the next story.
After all of the rules were shared and everyone got their harnesses on, we were released to go up to
the first story of obstacle courses. My heart pounded in my chest as I neared the rope ladder going
up to the first level. I took a deep breath.
Amanda you can do this, I mumbled to myself as I put my hand on the rope ladder. I slowly
climbed higher and higher until I reached the top rung. I took another deep breath and climbed onto
the platform. As I stood up, a climbing instructor attached my harness clamps to the overhead rope.

Comparison Between Fixed Cost And Dr. Pepper-Snapple Group
Fixed Cost On the other hand Dr. Pepper Snapple Group does have a large number of fixed cost.
Fixed costs are cost that are constant and must be paid no matter what level of the activity is
chosen. DP has over 21 manufacturing centers and 115 distribution centers around the world,
according to Dr. Pepper Snapple Group s annual report. This means that DP is paying rent on a
large number of buildings, leasing our buying equipment that they use at these facilities in order to
produce DP. Those are example of fixed cost, cost that have to be paid no matter what, this also
means that if you have a bad year and your company did not make as much as it did the year
before you still have to pay for the rent and utilities on all of those facilities.
Variable Cost Unlike fixed cost variable cost you have some room to play, variable cost is all

School Is East Campus At Rappahannock Hall
Purpose:
The goal of this proposal is recommend that the school makes east campus while including
Rappahannock hall to no longer be dry residence hall for those twenty one in age and older to try
and decrease the high DUI rate here at CNU.
Summary:
CNU student currently must go off campus to consume alcohol no matter the age leaving them to
find a ride or most of the time, drive. This leaves the students at a high risk of drinking too much
and then driving home from said off campus location. As a twenty one year old individual the law
gives you the right to drink and as college students no matter your affiliation or social openness
students will drink. Some students may end up drinking more than others but in the end a
student will drink in his/her college career and CNU forces students to do this off campus
making things less safe for the individual. At CNU they have such a strict dry residence hall
regulation that it is possible that one time you get in trouble you are kicked out of school. Due to
the regulations students go off campus to a bar or a friends house to consume alcohol. Most
survey recipients say they often drive to said location to drink and then because it is most
convenient drive themselves home. Most students reported that when they received their DUI that
they were blowing between .09 .11 slightly above the legal limit but still a DUI. The students when
surveyed most said they would have rather just drank in their room so they did not have to go

The Growth Of The Human Population
The indefinite growth of the human population, has monumental impacts on the natural
environment, not only in the UK, but around the globe. Architecturally, the entire process of
designing and constructing a building, both domestic and not, can lead to the rapid exhaustion of
natural resources across the planet. Buildingwith environmental design strategies in mind not only
combats the impact we as humans have on the natural environment, but also has considerable
economic benefits, due to lower running costs of buildings and advanced occupant productivity.
There are also many social benefits, such as improved air quality which resultantly leads too
enhanced health of a buildings occupants.
The first section of my report touches two case study buildings that considers such matters in an
intimate way, the Dalby Forest Visitor Centre in Yorkshire, and the Heels Building, National Trust
Headquarters, located in Swindon. The second section of the report focuses on a personal
statement, giving my opinions on both buildings environmental sustainability and overall impact.
Case Study 1 Dalby Forest Visitor Centre: Firstly I investigated the Dalby Visitor Centre by White

one of the first visitor centres the Forestry Commission have funded with environmental viability as
its core target. The Forestry Commission wanted a building that touched the ground lightly .

ANALYSIS OF A RECENT SERVICE EXPERIENCE
A recent service experience Recently, I had a very awful experience with Uber service which
makes me realize the difficulty of perfect service. I tried to call an Uber car, two month ago, to the
Miami international airport. It took about 30 minutes before the driver finally showed up and she
claimed that my apartment was very hard to locate. Meanwhile, I was aware that she barely
speaks English. She told me she just came from Cuba one month ago and only speaks Spanish
but I merely speak. According to recent study found that there are 66.37% of Miami Dade s
residents speak Spanish, while those who only speak English make up 28.07% (MLA, 2010).
Then, she set up navigation bring me to the destination. However, she missed the first exit of
highway without noticed and refused my help. I suggestion her exist next one and go back to the
first exist we just missed. Unfortunately, she kept following the navigator, eventually stopped at a
cargo warehouse and told me she got lost. I had no choice but to use my GPS got us arrived at the
airport finally. Moreover, I was charged for those extra miles due to Uber system calculation.
Analysis the implication of this experience This negative experience makes very disappointing
with Uber. The lady is not qualified as a professional drive. She didn t offering a quality service nor

The Effects Of Advertising On Youth s Psychology
Professor Jeff Richards once said Creative without strategy is called art, but creative with strategy
is called advertising. This quote is basically stating that advertisements use a lot of techniques and
strategies to convince and persuade audience. Particularly advertisements use psychological
feelings to persuade you positively or negatively towards a product. Advertisingaffects youth s
psychology by triggering feelings that make you want to buy their product.
First, corporations work on multiple strategies specifically in the field of pschology that might even
change your life forever positively or negatively .For example, time.com states that Companies get
you lost and confused. It s not an accident that grocery stores are often laid out unintuitively. Losing
focus makes people spend more on impulse purchases, says expert Martin Lindstrom, who has
conducted studies on marketing strategies. Getting interrupted during shopping also makes you
less price sensitive, according to research co authored by marketing professor Wendy Liu at UC
San Diego. That s because when you return to look at products after a distraction, you have a false
sense of having already vetted them, she says. In addition these strategies have been tested by
specialists which can change your life negatively by making you forget what products you actually
need and make you concentrate on things that look attractive. An additional fact from www.enotes

One of the serious public health issues in the United State is obesity in children. Obesity a
condition with an excess accumulation and storage of fat content in the body is also defined as a
BMI at or above the 95th percentile for children of the same age and sex. (CDC, 2014). The
rationale to choose this specific population is that obesity increases the risk for any serious physical

disorders, breathing problems, hepatic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the CDC, approximately 17 percentages of United States children and adolescents in
between the ages two to19 years are obese. Also, in the past 30 years the childhood obesity
among children has doubled and, increased three times more in the adolescents. A child who is
obese during his or her childhood is more likely to suffer obesity in adulthood. Childhood obesity
has both long term and short term health risks. It is also related with several illnesses and
diseases and is directly correlated to enhance mortality and decrease life expectancy. There are
several factors that increase a child s risk of becoming obese or over weight such as, diet, lack of
exercise, family history, psychological factors and socioeconomic factors. One of the major causes
of childhood is lack of exercise or inactivity. In today s busy lifestyle physical activities in children
are significantly low and the majority of their time is spent watching televisions, playing video
games, and using computers. According to Washington State Department of health, there is also
some scientific evidence that exposure to environmental chemicals could be contributing to the
obesity epidemic (Washington State Department of Health, 2012). Exposure to environmental
chemicals such as tobacco smoke, nicotine, organophosphate insecticides, DDT, and Biphenol can

Respectivism In Sociology
PHILOSOPHY OF SOCIAL SCIENCE
Theoretical approaches in the social sciences for example, behaviorism, functionalism,
hermeneutics have a perspectival nature. Perspectives have their own way of describing social
sciences and may be dangerous for any social institution (Blinov, 2010:21). Philosophy s aim is to
question beliefs and opinions in the social science disciplines but also these disciplines can be
politically innocent and neutral institutions by not favouring any particular practices or results in
group or individual perspectives (Blinov, 2010:6). In sociology, many different points of view
/theories exist (Sargent, 1996:xiv). Theories begin with efforts to resolve unresolved experiences
by leading towards a commitment of self ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sociologically, Marxists claim the individuals are related by the different ways economically for
production. A conservative functionalist theoretical perspective entails the individual fault
philosophy but is rejected by critical and feminist sociologist in their frameworks. Social Institutions
are social practices that are regularly and continuously repeated, legitimised and maintained by
social norms.
Perspectivism in social science is the process of applying social scientific results to modify
certain aspects of the society in question and/or of the individual s life. Perspectives in the social
science can inflict harm on the search for truth by the social science practitioners, audiences and
non participants. The possible harm that can be caused can be classified into varieties on the
basis of the harm. There are three varieties possible harm. The first variety is harm for the
internal goods of social science as a practice. Harm of this sort can be done in the process of doing
social science, and harm done to the third party in the process of social science. The second variety

A Brief Introduction on Judicial Review in the United States
Part I: A Brief Introduction on Judicial Review
Judicial review is the doctrine in democratic theory under which legislative and executive actions
are subject to review, and possible invalidation, by the judiciary. Specific courts with judicial review
power must annul the acts of the state when it finds them incompatible with a higher authority, such
as the terms of a written constitution. Judicial review is an example of the functioning of separation
of powers in a modern governmental system (where the judiciary is one of three branches of
government). This principle is interpreted differently in different jurisdictions, which also have

Raub(1825).Other debates and controversies followed. But Marbury v. Madison has been ratified
by time and practice and has become a cornerstone of the larger constitutional system
Marbury, of course, stands only for the proposition that judges can declare acts of Congress
invalid. In subsequent cases Marshall asserted that judges could also declare invalid executive
orders or actions (Little v. Barreme, 1804 ) and upheld the Judiciary Act of 1789, under which
Congress gave the Supreme Cour power to review and reserve decisions upholding the
constitutionality of state statutes (Martin v. Hunter s Lessee, 1816;Cohens v. Virginia, 1821). Taken
collectively, these cases provide federal judges with impressive tools for monitoring governmental
actions, tools that they have not always been hesitant to use. Through the end of the 1990s, the
Supreme Court has invalidated nearly 140 federal statutes and some 1,200 local laws . State courts
too, with their own power to strike down acts passed within their jurisdiction, are active monitors of
their governments. One scholar estimates that state justices invalidate nearly 25 percent of all laws
challenged in their court rooms.
Through judicial review, state courts determine whether or not state executive acts or state statutes
are valid. They base such rulings on the principle that a state law that violates the U.S. constitution
is invalid. They also decide the constitutionality of state laws under

The History Of Lewis And Clark
The History of Lewis and Clark In 1803, shortly after the Louisiana Purchase, Thomas Jefferson,
our third US President sent two men, U.S. Army Captain Meriwether Lewis and William Clark
out to explore the unexplored west and in search of a water route across North America,
fulfilling the dreams of Thomas Jefferson in sending explorers across the America. Thomas
Jefferson chose Meriwether Lewis who was previously his secretary to lead the expedition. Thus
being chosen to lead the expedition, William Clark volunteered to assist Lewis on the journey.
Working together on the upcoming journey, it is clear that both these men made a great dynamic

Character Analysis Of Battleship Potemkin
Battleship Potemkin
The Battleship Potemkin is a film that shows the images of anguish and suffering, even though the
movie has no sound, one can understand the emotion and anguish behind the story. This film
showed how the sailors are being mistreated by the higher ranking officers on the ship. The
officers take their anger out on the sailors in an abusive way and try to make them eat rotten food
with maggots in it. All the sailors start getting sick of the way they are being treated and decide to
take a stand, by refusing to eat the rotten food. This would induce an emotional response from the
viewers, because of the human suffering shown in the film, it can bring out feelings of anger from
the audience, as they have empathy for the sailors. The officers want to punish the sailors, by
having the ones who would not eat the soup to come forward, then they covered them with a tarp
and ordered the sailors who were not being insubordinate to shoot them. This part of the film
conveyed a sense of anxiety in the viewers as they knew this was wrong and unjust. The other
sailors realized that it was wrong to shoot their brothers and refused to shoot them, this caused a
big fight among the sailors and the officers. The sailors outnumbered the officers and threw them
overboard and took over the ship. During this scene, the viewer goes from anger and anxiety, to
feelings of relief and elation, although, it is short lived because the film goes returns to death, loss,
and suffering.

Essay on The Outsiders
The Outsiders
The Outsiders is written by S.E. Hinton. It is set in the 1960s in a town in the USA. It is about
the conflict of the two main teenager gangs called the Socs (short for Socials) and the Greasers.
The Socs live on the West side where they live a supposedly better life with everything that they
want and the Greasers live on the East side with nothing much but anger and jealousy about the
Socs who always seem to be privileged in every way. The conflict(a state of disharmony between
incompatible or antithetical persons, ideas, or interests; a clash.) remains strong because of the
dissatisfaction of the opposing gangs with their lives.

Pony that it is no use fighting in rumbles because Socs will forget even if they win or don t. All

Greasers and Socs will still be Socs. Sometimes I think that it s the ones in the middle who are the
lucky stiffs. (Randy, Ch.7, page 125)
Cherry and Randy humanize the Socs when talking to Pony, explaining the things to him so that he
understands that the Socs might not be as lucky as he used to think they were.
Although there is conflict between the Socs and the Greasers, there is also conflict between the
individuals in the novel. Darry often blames things on Pony for his lack of common sense, while
Pony thinks that
Darry is a natural leader of the Greasers but really bossy and nagging him all the time. Pony always

With regards to perspectives in understanding human life there are two which are prominent. The
first is the functional perspective, this recognises that our lives are guided by social structures. It
therefore organises sociological observation by identifying various structures of society and
investigating the function of each one. This is a building block for theories that see society as a
complex system whose parts work

The Factors Of Teenage Pregnancy
Teenage pregnancy is normally identified as a deprived life choice, for example, tasks of teenage
parenting have long term impact on the mental health of the mother and children (Statistics New
Zealand, 2003). It is important to identify the socioeconomic factors of teenage pregnancy to lower
the chances of mental health problems in young mothers. In this paper the aim is to analyse the
main socioeconomic factors of teenage pregnancy and discuss how it affects the mental health of an
adolescent motherin New Zealand. This essay will commence by identifying how a lack of
education is considered as a socioeconomic factor associated with teenage pregnancy, followed by
the second theme which will consist of economic circumstances such as, parental unemployment
and welfare dependency. Lastly, this essay will discuss how deficiency of support from familyand
friends leads to unstable relationships, which has a huge impact on a teenage mother s mental
health. A lack of education is one of the main socioeconomic factors which impact the mental health
of an adolescent mother. Studies show a number of negative outcomes that are linked with dropping
out of school at an early age. For example, youth that tends to gain fewer educational qualifications
are more likely to be in unstable relationships resulting in a lack of knowledge regarding
contraceptive use which leaves them to deal with economic circumstances (Breheny Stephens,
2008; Friesen, Woodward, Fergusson, Horwood,

Germany And The United Nations
When the United Nations was formed in 1945, Germany was a pile of rubble, both literally and
figuratively. A political and social outcast, it was not until 1973 that a divided Germany was
granted full member status in the UN. And those 40 years of membership have seen remarkable
changes to not only a now unified Germany, but also the world.
According to the United Nations Association of Germany, the country that was not even considered
in the original draft of the Charter is now, financially, considered one of the most important
members of the UN. Germany currently gives the third largest amount in financial contributions to
the UN (7.1% of the UN s total contributions), only behind the United States (22%) and Japan
(10.8%). ... in addition to the substantial voluntary contributions to UN specialized agencies,
programs, funds and institutions. Germany also provides military support for both UN mandated
and UN led peacekeeping missions, with over 7,000 troops currently deployed. In addition, two UN
specific training centers have been created, the UN Training Center for German Armed Forces and
the Center for International Peace Operations.
Germany is one of the G4 nations, a group that also includes Japan, Brazil, and India. The G4 plan
for UN Security Council reform proposes adding six new permanent members and four new non
permanent members, increasing the council from 15 to 25. The 6 new permanent seats would be
elected from 2 African states, 2 Asian states, 1 member

Confessionalist Characteristics Of Allen Ginsberg And The...
Beat Generation Research Paper During the 1950s, many different literary movements came to the
spotlight. Two such movements were Confessionalism and Beat poetry. There are many
commonalities between these movements, and often, authors and works from the Beat movement
incorporate various Confessionalist characteristics. Allen Ginsberg, one such author, combined both
Confessionalism and Beat poetryin a variety of his works, including Howland Kaddish. The
Confessionalist aspects of Allen Ginsberg and his works, such as Howl, were heavily outweighed
by the Beat aspects in his work. The Beat poetry movement began in the 1950s due to the tense
political climate and heavily conformative society. During this time, America was a policing... Show

In addition to adopting peaceful religions, such as Buddhism, Beat poets attempted to connect with
their spiritual state of being by engaging in drug usage and meditating.
To distinguish themselves in literature, they picked at the flaws they perceived in romanticism,
modernist poetry, and the New Criticism. They abandoned the typical form and structure of
formalist poetry. Instead, they commonly followed the footsteps of Walt Whitman and his free
verse. The free verse allowed them to sync their words with a musical flow, especially that of jazz.
In addition to free verse, the Beat poetry contained unregulated self expression. The Beats believed
that true emotions were expressed in the moment, and often would not edit their works. They also
openly discussed sexual experimentation, specifically that directed to the gay culture. Beats also
wrote about their usage of drugs, and its ability to help perceive the truth. Their work portrayed a
belief that the arts transcended mortality.
Allen Ginsberg was born on June 3, 1926 to a schizophrenic mother. His experience with his
mother heavily affected him, as evident in his portrayal of mental illness in much of his work.
Considered one of the founders of Beat poetry, Ginsberg brought attention to the movement with his
performance of his poem Howl. Howl reflected the free verse and jazz components common to the
movement. It also reflected Jack Kerouac and the Old

Jackie French s A Waltz For Matilda
Have you ever wondered what it would be like if there was more meaning behind the song
Waltzing Matilda? No, well there is. It may not be true but it definitely got me interested. Jackie
French, an Australian author, wrote the book A waltz for Matilda. While reading the book you
discover a story of a young girl who soon becomes an orphan in the desert country of Australia.
Her name is Matilda. Matilda wasn t always alone she had her Parents and her Aunt Ann, but one
year that all changed. Her familysoon vanishes from this world to another. As you continue to
read the story you uncover many stories and you start to feel like you re a shadow that s always
behind the characters, you re watching the story play out. Matilda was a young girl who grew up
to help change a nation in which we could all live in as equals.... Show more content on

The first thought that came into my mind when I heard the title of this book was that it must be
about a person named Matilda who learnt to dance, but as I read the blurb I learnt that this book
was about a young girl from the 1800 s who goes on an extraordinary journey to find out who she
truly is. I ve been asked many times why, out of all the books you could read, why that one? my
answer was always the same Because it s different. Imagine if you read the same type of book
over and over again. It would become quite boring. Reading A Waltzfor Matilda just brings a bit
of excitement into a sad story about an Australian swagman. A Waltz for Matilda isn t your typical
novel for it gives you a deeper understating of what it means to be Australian and what it took to

Essay on Guns Make for a Safer Country
Guns are needed. The main purpose is for protection. People think that by banning guns
Americans will be safer. This is not true though. Criminals get their guns through illegal ways so
it would be hard to confiscate all the guns. With guns taken away most Americans would
probably turn on their government. Some people want to ban guns because they are used in
crimes. But the guns are not committing the crime people are. Guns have always been and
always will be a form of protection. A gun is the easiest way to keep the peace. Nothing scares
someone more than knowing they could die. There are few people that are not scared of guns.
When guns are in the hands of the right people peace will be kept and there are no problems. If a

The castle law allows people to protect themselves on their own property. If a person breaks into
a house then the owner has the right to shoot and kill that trespasser on the spot. Only some
states allow the castle law though. One negative view toward guns is that they kill people.
People kill people. The person behind the gun is the killer. Using this as an argument against
gun is the worst way someone can approach it. When someone is killed by a drunk driver do
people think that the car is responsible for killing? No, they obviously blame the drunk driver
and say nothing about the vehicle used in the incident. It should be the same way with guns.
People should not turn on the guns that they use for protection because there are people that
misuse guns. The problem is the way guns are viewed. Keith Olberman states, Guns are evil and
the NRA is evil. The article says, 30,000 Americans are killed by guns each year (Stossel).
Anyone can see in the statement it says killed by guns. It should say the guns are used. When it
is stated like that it makes it seem like guns are the problem. When most of the time it is the
people. In most of the big shootings the people behind them usually have some problem or have
been psychologically damaged. One example is the Aurora movie theater shooting just a year ago.
James Holmes, the shooter, showed signs before the shooting that he had problems. He was
described as bipolar and a shy

Essay On Labeling Theory
Labeling theory is very much self explanatory. This theory states that people become criminals
because someone labeled them as one and this becomes part of their self identity. Having a label
such as a trouble maker could stick with you. Not only does this affect you at school, but at work,
and to anyone else who knows you have them label. This also very much goes along with
stereotypes. If you dress like a stereotypical gang member people are going to associate you with
that and that will become a part of your identity.
A person usually gets a label due to the social distance between the labeler and the labeled. There
are two main affect of labeling: creation of a stigma and the effect on self image. The creation of a
stigma can cause a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The first step in building positive and respectful relationships is to communicate positively. The
importance of non discriminatory and accurate language is outlined by NSW Health (2004)

Governor Schwarzenegger recognized global warming was real and something needed to be done.

Joe Weider provided that blue print. As a young body builder, Schwarzenegger was mentored by
body building marketing guru Joe Weider. Weider taught Schwarzenegger valuable lessons on how
to change public opinion on body building and make fitness mainstream.
Weider used Schwarzenegger to make body building sexy (Montana 2008). To do this he had to
change the image of the bodybuilder (much like Schwarzenegger is attempting to change the image
of the environmentalist). The current image of the body builder was one of vanity, narcissism, all

Writing Techniques In The Raven By Edgar Allen Poe
Edgar Allen Poe has written many short stories and poems, in which he displays skillful writing
techniques. Something he excels at is the expression of the themes in his works. He has a
unique writing style and often resorts to using symbols to develop deeper meanings. As a result,
Poe best executes the conveyance of his subject matter through the usage of his style of writing
and symbolism. Edgar Allen Poe s eerie writing style is a key factor in the way he conveys his
themes. His writing style is often dark and sorrowful, but can also make readers feel uneasy, which
coincides perfectly with the subject matter of his stories. For example, one of the themes in Poe s
poem The Raven, is individuals oftentimes feel a sense of emptiness... Show more content on

However, readers soon feel pity for the main character, as he shows how desperate he is for the
return of his lost love, Lenore. Is there is there balm in Gilead? tell me tell me, I implore! The
man begs to know if there is any way for Lenore to return to him. However, the raven responds
with nothing but the word Nevermore, leaving the man, and the reader, feeling hopeless and
unsettled. A key factor in the way Poe communicates his themes is through the use of symbolism.
Namely, his story The Masque of the Red Death is a prime example of this. The theme of this short
story is death inescapable, regardless of one s wealth. The story is set in a time where a plague
is striking many people and Prince Prospero, representing riches and prosperity, believes he and
his friends can escape this plague using his money. There are many rooms in this retreat, most
of which are painted a color representative of a positive aspect of life. However, there is one room
in which there flows a ruddier light through the blood colored panes; and the blackness of the
sable drapery appals; ...there comes from the near clock of ebony a muffled peal more solemnly
emphatic than any which reaches their ears who indulge in the more remote gaieties of the other
apartments. (1) In this room, the red window panes allude to blood, the black curtains equate to
death, and the ebony clock is symbolic

Patriotism In Braveheart
Mel Gibson s Braveheart is a full throated, red blooded fight epic about William Wallace, the
unbelievable Scots warrior who drove his country into fight against the English in the years around
1300. It is an aspiring film, enthusiastic about straightforward feelings like love, patriotism and
unfairness, and keeps away from the travelog style of such a large number of authentic
swashbucklers: Its areas look green, wet, incomprehensible, sloppy and rough.
Very little is thought about Wallace, known as Braveheart, with the exception of that as per an old
epic lyric, he brought together the families of Scotland and won celebrated fights against the
English before being caught, tormented and executed as a swindler.

The Importance Of The Tennessee Centennial Exposition In...
Just like a Phoenix, Nashville, Tennessee was rising up from the ashes of the war between the states
and the Reconstruction Period. Prosperity was in the air and they were leading the New South out
and into the next century. The Tennessee Centennial Exposition, held in Nashville, was opened on
1 May 1897, which was eleven months after the original date it was supposed to celebrate. What
they were celebrating was Tennessee s one hundredth anniversary of statehood. The Tennessee
Centennial Exposition showed exhibits on their industry, agriculture, commerce, and transportation
of the state and displayed their educational and cultural achievement. They, the Americans, came
together despite their differences and made this the largest southern exposition. The Tennessee
Centennial Exposition was commemorating the history of the state. The exposition was developing
the state s natural resources, encouraging foreign investments, and increasing the state s population.
It promoted their devotion to the New South belief of industrial progress, racial harmony, and
national reconciliation. Evidence of the assurance of industrial progress in the New South:

  • 2. The Pros And Cons Of Puerto Rico I will not pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. This must be the words of thousands of Puerto Ricans living in the island today wishing that their small island would once and for all become free from the colonization of the United States. Puerto Ricohas been living under U.S. domination for the past 92 years and it s considered the last nation in Latin America that is still living in colonization. Puerto Ricans want to be free and should be allowed to be free; to have the opportunity to vote for the president who sends its young people to war, to have their own currency, to fly one flag in all their schools and finally to feel pride in being an independent nation and not labeled with... As an independent nation Puerto Rico would open its trading market with various countries around the world expanding the economy and not having to depend on the help the Unites Sates provides. American citizenship could be obtained through the necessary legal steps and travel between the island and the U.S. will still be available. Receiving the benefits Puerto Rico receives from the United States has helped the island through the years develop into the place it is today but it has come at a costly price with words 4 like territory and commonwealth attached to it. No nation should turn its back on their heritage, culture and language at the expense of tax exemptions and financial aid. Instead, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Neanderthal Evolution The Neanderthal roamed the lands of Europe for tens of thousands of years. But about 30,000 years ago, they became extinct, vanishing from the earth. (Homo Sapiens Versus Neanderthals). Only 15,000 years before, our ancestor Homo Sapien had expanded from Africa into Europe and Asia.(Humans Vs. Neanderthals: How Did We Win? : DNews.) There are many different theories on what happened to Neanderthal, and how their interaction with Homo Sapien changed the Neanderthal world. The Homo Sapiens were more advanced and adaptable, and they could use the resources better than the Neanderthal. The Neanderthal also interbred with Homo Sapien who outnumbered them ten to one. The Neanderthal lived isolated until about 45,000 years ago they were confronted with a new species, Homo Sapien. (Human Evolution by The Smithsonian Institution s Human Origins Program.) Before Homo Sapien arrived, the Neanderthal had been living off the land around them, and now Homo Sapien was also using their resources. The Homo Sapien were more adaptable and more advanced than the Neanderthal so they could better use the land. For example, the Homo Sapiens often lived on hilltops or in higher places where they could look out over valley which would have allowed the Homo Sapien to watch herd movement and plan hunting strategy. (Human Evolution by The Smithsonian Institution s Human Origins Program) The Neanderthal lived in lower places and in caves. Because of the Homo Sapien s advancement there wasn t as many resources left available to the Neanderthal, so they either would have to move or adapt to the new ways. The Homo Sapien also had more advanced tools like bone needles and knives, and an overall, more efficient way of living than the Neanderthal. The Neanderthal were also built much differently from Homo Sapien. The Neanderthal were much stronger than the Homo Sapien, but the Homo Sapien were built for long distance running while the Neanderthal who was shorter couldn t run as far. (Humans Vs. • 4. The Pros And Cons Of Social Contract Theory Social contract theory, nearly as old as philosophy itself, is the view that persons moral and/or political obligations are dependent upon a contract or agreement among them to form the society in which they live. (Friend 2017) Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, and Jean Jacques Rousseau are the best known are the best known proponents of this enormously influential theory, which has been one of the most dominant theories within moral and political theory throughout the history of the modern West. (Friend 2017) The social construct theory has survived multiple political climates throughout the world and centuries of change in laws and generations of humankind. The reason the social construct theory has survived is not due to chance, but the fact that as society progresses with age, so does the laws and what is typically understood as the norm within the culture. The social construct theory also isn t just singular to just one particular type of society, but all of them throughout the world, because each social construct throughout the world is usually built upon a common agreement to abide by these particular set of rules to keep the peace, and it allows for the society to function in peace, rather than chaos. In the beginning, one of the first concepts and its inner workings was theorized by Socrates himself. (Friend 2017) In Crito, Socrates is in prison and he is justifying why he should remain in prison. He uses the ideas of the Social Construct theory to break down his reasons to his decisions, such as why it s important to the follow the law of society and how it made his very existence possible. (Friend 2017) Socrates also goes into depth to explain how people grow in in that said society and as they grow they start to make decisions if they like that society enough to stay and abide by the laws or to leave and go onto their own path. If the person was to leave the society, they would forfeit those laws and the protection those laws in turn provided. Thomas Hobbes however, is more recently living philosopher than Socrates. Born in 1588, he lived during the violent English Civil war in 1642 to 1648. During that time, he wrote his most famous piece of literary work, Leviathan. In Leviathan, he makes a number of ... He and the other children had very little food. Many of the children died because of the cold or lack of food. Oliver survived, but he was small and thin. After nine years at the orphanage, Oliver went to live in a workhouse. He worked long hours for the workhouse. They gave him only one bowl of porridge three times a day and an onion twice a week. Flash Forward twenty eight years and there are four different brands of smartphones, with over forty versions all together. There are endless options to transfer information from one person to another, and millions of applications that can be downloaded. Since the early 2000s, smartphone technology has been rapidly changing at a rate that can not be slowed down. The successful advance in this technology has done more harm than good. The cause of smartphone technology become better has had many effects such as; creating antisocial people, more bullying, people not using natural intelligence, and overall they are taking over people s lives. Smartphones do not only distract us from interacting with those who are physically with us. They also give people the need to feel as though they do not need to take part in pro social behavior. With the advance spread of mobile technology, it is rather easy for individuals to remain in constant contact with their social networks online. A recent Pew Research survey of adults in the U.S. found that 71% use Facebook at least occasionally, and 45% of Facebook users check the site several times a day (Wall Street Journal 2017). • 9. Ron Gilbert Ron Gilbert, a game designer and the driving force behind the SCUMM engine, Humongous Entertainment, and Cavedog , has throughout his career shown a wish for creativity, yearned for storytelling and has always done whatever he could to develop the game he wanted to create (Murdey, 2006). In the field of game design, one of the greatest problems that a designer must solve is finding a way to bring the game he has developed in his mind to his desired audience. This problem is twofold, requiring both capital input and the invention of better software. In Ron s quest to solve these problems and develop the game he wanted, he s gone through major publishers, created his own companies, utilized crowdfunding campaigns, and developed in house engines... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s the most used due to the fact that it has the least work needed after the fact. The publisher sorts out the several possible problems and pays for the development of the game. Beyond that, generally publishers can reach audiences far larger than other means of development. Due to this, publishers are usually quite picky about what games they choose to fund and develop. As Ron Gilbert (2006) stated, If you don t come in wanting to spend $10 or $15 million, it s like they don t take you seriously at some level, Publishers have historically looked down on lower budget games and this has caused problems in the current era of the games industry. According to Gilbert, the greatest of these problems is the need for every game to release as a home run, not allowing for minor successes (Murdey, 2006). With publishers almost requiring higher budget games and even of those accepting only a few games, there are unique problems with this method of development. Some of these problems include loss of creative control over the project and the loss of a portion of the expected audience. Ron Gilbert, while he s gone through publishers in the past, mainly during his time developing for LucasArts, he has rarely been able to have his games published due to changes in expectations of the game industry (Murdey, 2006). If this is a greater sacrifice than a designer is willing to take, there are ways around using publishers to have a game ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Two Differences Of Disneyland And Walt Disney World Although Disneyland and Walt Disney World (WDW) are Walt Disney s ideas being portrayed, the two parks have quite a few differences along with a vast amount of similarities. For example, Disney World is comprised of four parks, whereas Disneyland is only made up of two. Disneyland cut the ceremonial ribbon in 1955 and is located in Anaheim, California. It included features such as Sleeping Beauty Castle, eighteen attractions, one resort hotel, and a monorail system. On the other hand, Walt DisneyWorld, located in Orlando, Florida, opened its doors in 1971. It featured Cinderella Castle, fifteen attractions, and two resort hotels when it initially opened. Some similarities between the two are that they allow you to participate in the Disney College Program, both are Walt Disney s dreams coming to life, the entertainment of the guests, and pin trading. In contrast, the two parks have different amounts and varieties of parks, hotels, restaurants, fastpasses, and entertainment. When Disneyland opened, it rested on an 85 acre property and only had about eighteen attractions. However, some of the rides featured on opening day are the most iconic ones still running in both locations. On the first day they opened the doors, thousands of people began rushing into the parks to see Walt Disney s dreams become a reality. Upon walking in, guests were overwhelmed with all the magic come to life. Sleeping Beauty Castle towers over the entrance of the park at seventy feet high; however it does seem to be bigger due to the architecture they used. They used bigger blocks on the bottom and as the builders got higher and higher, smaller bricks were used. Here one will find shops carrying merchandise like shirts, candy, backpacks, purses, stuffed animals, and the iconic Mickey/Minnie Mouse ears. Both sites feature exquisite architecture when it pertains to the way, the castles were built to appear bigger. In comparison of both sites, Main Street is the road that starts at the beginning of the park and stretches to the castle. Disneyland is divided up into four different themes, a few of them being Fantasyland, Adventureland, and Tomorrowland. Each section has rides that go along with the theme. • 13. Dreams And Mental Dreams In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein In today s society, people have many different ways that they interpret their dreams. Some people believe that they give us a view into the future while others believe that they tell us more about ourselves. Historically, they were once believed to be symptoms of mental illness. It was through the work of Sigmund Freud, a psychoanalyst, that the value of dreams was shifted; we were able to learn the significance of the information that they gave us ( Dreamin History , para. 9). In Frankenstein, Mary Shelley uses dreams and nightmares to share information with the reader on Victor. These dreams specifically Victor s give us details relating to his desires which affect his character. As the book progresses, we begin to see a shift in his character which parallels with these dreams. As the book begins, we are introduced to Victor s personality, which is highly enthusiastic at first. He is immersed into his studies at Ingolstadt, slowly making his place within his university with his interest in the sciences. While studying, he is captivated by the structure of humans and shifts his studies into attempting to create a human being from a dead body (Shelley, 46). Slowly but surely, Victor begins to drift in daydreaming about giving life to a dead body. • 14. Moses Man Of The Mountain Analysis Zora Neale Hurston in Moses, Man of the Mountain uses the biblical Exodus story to piece together the black American s experience by explaining a broken and replicated ideology that has been adapted by black people in America that not only facilitates the continuation of involuntary servitude but of which has taken on a new form. Through the use of black language, black rituals and black culture, the telling of this narration of oppression based on economic class, gender and ethnicity encompasses factors allowing the enslaved system of racial divide to continue and sadly flourish today. For black Americans, years of servitude of themselves, has led to a perpetuation of thus this same system among each other. Until black people in America adopt a new unified system of operating that moves black Americans away from acquiring space by means of systematic oppression, they will continue to operate according to Massa s direction instead of walking in a life of true equality and freedom. Involuntary slavery has never ceased to exist for black people in the United States of America. Historical records indicate slavery was abolished in 1865, but in fact, contrary to this record, it continued then and continues today. Immanuel Kant was one of the most influential philosophers in the history of Western Philosophy. His contributions to metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, and aesthetics have brought an impact on most philosophical movement that followed him. He was the fourth oldest of 9 children in a family of artisans. He was originally named Emmanuel but, after learning Hebrew he changed his name to Immanuel . In his youth, Kant was a solid, unspectacular student. The family belonged to the Protestant sect of the Pietists, and Kant went to a Pietist school. The emphasis on reason in Kant s philosophy is sometimes interpreted as a reaction against his religious education. Kant was only 5 feet tall, and very thin when reached old age which he attributed to his strict daily routine. He got up at 5 o clock every day and spent the next hour drinking tea, smoking his pipe and meditating. From 6 to 7 o clock, he prepared for lectures he gave at home until 9 o clock. And in the moment you think to yourself, Because I persevered, I accomplished my goals. That is exactly how I felt two years ago when I crossed my finish line... It started on a chilly February morning at my church s Youth Camp Retreat, called Winter Blast . My friends had tried to persuade me all morning to climb the two story ropes course, in the barn at the top of the hill. Come on Amanda, how do you know you won t like it unless you try it? Nora asked as she pulled on her tennis shoes. I just know, I m terrified of heights and I don t want to fall, I protested back as I crawled out of bed. After more persuasion and pleading I eventually gave in, and we exited our cabin and headed towards the hill. My nerves grew by the second as I neared the giant opening. We gazed upward as we entered the barn. Climbers of all shapes and sizes were many stories up, climbing through the obstacle courses. The barn was cold and dim lighted. The musty smell of the barn filled my nostrils. It made me feel as though I had entered a Haunted House. People screamed as the ropes above shook with the wind being brought in through the holes in the wall. New climbers head this way! Shouted a voice to the right. I turned and followed my group of friends over to the man talking. After all of the climbers were in a half circle around the man, he began speaking. My name is Westley and I will be your harness instructor. Wesley spoke about all the safety rules you need to know in order to climb; things like how to attach your harness to the overhead ropes and how to climb up to the next story. After all of the rules were shared and everyone got their harnesses on, we were released to go up to the first story of obstacle courses. My heart pounded in my chest as I neared the rope ladder going up to the first level. I took a deep breath. Amanda you can do this, I mumbled to myself as I put my hand on the rope ladder. I slowly climbed higher and higher until I reached the top rung. I took another deep breath and climbed onto the platform. As I stood up, a climbing instructor attached my harness clamps to the overhead rope. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Factors Of Teenage Pregnancy Teenage pregnancy is normally identified as a deprived life choice, for example, tasks of teenage parenting have long term impact on the mental health of the mother and children (Statistics New Zealand, 2003). It is important to identify the socioeconomic factors of teenage pregnancy to lower the chances of mental health problems in young mothers. In this paper the aim is to analyse the main socioeconomic factors of teenage pregnancy and discuss how it affects the mental health of an adolescent motherin New Zealand. This essay will commence by identifying how a lack of education is considered as a socioeconomic factor associated with teenage pregnancy, followed by the second theme which will consist of economic circumstances such as, parental unemployment and welfare dependency. Lastly, this essay will discuss how deficiency of support from familyand friends leads to unstable relationships, which has a huge impact on a teenage mother s mental health. A lack of education is one of the main socioeconomic factors which impact the mental health of an adolescent mother. Allen Ginsberg, one such author, combined both Confessionalism and Beat poetryin a variety of his works, including Howland Kaddish. The Confessionalist aspects of Allen Ginsberg and his works, such as Howl, were heavily outweighed by the Beat aspects in his work. In addition to adopting peaceful religions, such as Buddhism, Beat poets attempted to connect with their spiritual state of being by engaging in drug usage and meditating. To distinguish themselves in literature, they picked at the flaws they perceived in romanticism, modernist poetry, and the New Criticism. They abandoned the typical form and structure of formalist poetry. Instead, they commonly followed the footsteps of Walt Whitman and his free verse. The free verse allowed them to sync their words with a musical flow, especially that of jazz. In addition to free verse, the Beat poetry contained unregulated self expression. The Beats believed that true emotions were expressed in the moment, and often would not edit their works.
